#finally realizing that Maddie is not as perfect as he imagined her to be

Just finished watching Wendigoon's video about Hisashi Ouchi and had a terrible, awful, no-good DP prompt idea come into my head. Come suffer with me.
So the Fentons constantly threaten to tear ghosts apart "molecule by molecule" right? What if they managed to make an anti-ghost weapon that made good on that threat? One that tore apart ghostly DNA or ectoplasm, and just straight-up turned any ghost hit by it into green goop, melted within seconds like Danny's clones?
So I imagine that at some point after destroying a couple of ghosts with this new weapon, Jack and Maddie finally manage to corner Phantom somehow. Terrified, Danny is left with no choice but to try to explain who and what he is, hoping to all the Ancients that it will be enough to stop them from hurting him.
Unfortunately for him, the Fentons don't really listen at first and shoot him point blank.
Danny puts his arms up to protect himself and closes his eyes, trembling in abject fear, imagining himself melting away into a pile of goop right in front of his parents. He desperately hopes it's quick and painless. He waits for the end.
...and waits
... and waits
The Fentons and Danny both feel shocked, but Danny eventually laughs (a bit hysterically) and continues explaining his accident, intensely relieved that his half-human nature had protected him from this weapon.
Once he explains everything, the Fentons apologize with tears in their eyes for how they had treated him. They accept him for who he is, and promise to do their best to learn more about ghosts' true natures. They decide to use their inventions in an actually scientific, ethical way, to learn more about this culture and people. Danny and Jazz are both ecstatic. Everything seems perfect. Sure, Danny might have thrown up and passed out the minute they got home from that little talk, and sure, his skin turned a bit red and painful where he got hit, but that was the extent of it, right? His human half purged the effects of the weapon from his body, no harm no foul.
But they all forget that while Danny's DNA is half human, it is also half ghostly in nature, and the weapon just tore through those parts of him like bullets through paper.
A week later, Danny's skin starts to feel like it's burning
#danny phantom#dp prompt#prompt#basically the Fentons accidentally give Danny extreme radiation poisoning and have to deal with the consequences#maybe Vlad could get a redemption arc in this#finally realizing that Maddie is not as perfect as he imagined her to be#and using everything in his considerable power to help save his Little Badger#could also be#DPxDC#dp x dc#if they end up reaching out to the justice league for their resources and expertise on non-human biology and radiation exposure#and of course every single one of them would end up loving Danny and wanting to take him away from these people who hurt him so bad#or at least help him recover and watch over him after#they wouldn't be fans of the Fentons to say the least#if anyone writes anything on this you can take it anywhere you like#but I'm personally a sucker for Angst with a Happy Ending#so in my imagination Danny manages to make it through the almost 3 months of suffering and eventually recovers#with a ton of new friends (and maybe a lover) for his troubles#but he'd never be the same#and I don't think he'd ever look at Jack and Maddie the same either#don't look up pictures of Hisashi Ouchi btw#only made that mistake once#danny fenton#btw for those who don't know but don't want to watch a 90min video about it#Hishashi Ouchi was a poor man who was exposed to so much radiation that his chromosomes were torn to shreds#**READ THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES AT YOUR DISCRETION CW IT'S NOT PRETTY IF YOU DON'T LIKE THINKING ABOUT NASTY STUFF/BODY HORROR DON'T READ#then his skin started to slough off#then the lining of his lungs. then the one on his intestines. then on almost every one of his organs#He lived for 83 days bc the best doctors in the world were trying to save him#but Yes it was probably as excruciating as it sounds especially bc his mind was intact for most of it

Fezco imagine where reader is a a bad bitchhhh ( almost like Maddy) she takes matters in her own hands and doesn’t bite her tongue. I feel like that would complement fezcos chill and quiet personality.
honestly I love this idea..
Tumblr media
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒! reader is a bad bitch, kissing, pda?
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒! on mobile, format might be weird. lowercase intended, unedited, double periods intended. a bit short
fezco x fem!reader
you and fez met in highschool, in tenth grade.
you immediately hit it off, you expressed your interest in his.. 'occupation' and he liked that you were bold and outspoken.
he was quiet and reserved, and you were loud and weren't afraid to speak your mind.
it was a match made in heaven, man!
you met ash late into tenth grade, when fezco finally decided to let you meet him. he was always reluctant to let you meet ash, he thought it got you too involved in his shit, he didnt want you to get hurt because of him.
you quickly took a liking to the young boy, basically taking him in as your own.
soon enough, you and fez were seen everywhere together
every time someone went over to his house, you were there
when he went to get groceries, you were with him, holding the list.
when you went anywhere, fezco was always there, watching over your shoulder
he liked to protect you, you were bound to have some enemies. someone had to be out to get you, it wasnt possible for nobody to hate you with how often you openly disagree with people.
but, surprisingly, people left you alone. maybe they were scared of you, you two were a pretty scary pair, after all.
soon enough, people started asking if you were dating.
you weren't, so it always caught you off guard, no matter how many times people asked.
eventually, fezco realized he had feelings for you.
he always knew he felt differently about you, but he always thought it was in a friendly way.
yeah, he was way off.
actually, he had been in love with you for months.
and it turns out, you had been in love with him too.
you didnt know it though, if you did, you would have told him, even if it would have had bad consequences
it didnt though..
here's how it went,
"fez, I love you". you two were sitting on his couch, watching an episode of a show the both of you loved. he turned to look at you, not actually paying attention to you. you were focused on the tv, suddenly extremely nervous. you didnt like the feeling, it felt like you had food poisoning or something. "yeah, I love you too, y/n". you sighed and rolled your eyes, turning to look at him with a deadpan face. "I dont think you understand, I'm in love with you, like, actually." his face wilted into confusion, tilting his head as if asking you if you were serious. "wait.. like, actually?" you scoffed and rolled your eyes again, looking back to the tv. "yes, like,actually, fezco."
you watched through the corner of your eye as he smiled, looking you up and down a few times. your brows furrowed, was he seriously checking you out right now? "shit.. you serious?" you scoffed and stood up, walking towards the front door. "wait, wait, no, dont leave.. fuck, I love you too, y/n". you looked back at him to see him standing with a worried look on his face, it was odd to see him like this, it wasnt really 'fezco behavior'. you were too focused on his behavior to understand what he was doing or what he said prior, but the next thing you knew, his hands were on your hips, pulling you towards him and his lips were on yours.
after that, you and him were somehow together more often than before.
when he sat down, you were always sitting next to him or on his lap.
you were always at his house, practically abandoning your own.
everyone said you shouldn't be together, that you were too different.
you didn't think so, though.
you two were perfect.

Hate to Love You - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
A/N: Sorry this took me so long and sorry its so short. Wanted to end this one on a sweet note <3 Hope you all enjoy the end to this series. Might write blurbs in the future, but finished for now.
Rudy POV
I can't help but think to myself how perfect y/n is. Her presence in my life had taken me by surprise, pulling the rug out from under my feet as she challenged me at every turn.
At first, sure, it was just about sex. I had seen her as a conquest, a trophy I could acquire by playing the game just right. Looking back on how I treated her in the early days made me cringe, wondering why she even was still speaking to me.
I could tell after our motorcycle/beach date that something had changed for y/n. Every time I call her baby, she blushes and looks away. When I catch her looking at me when she thinks I won't notice my heart skips a beat, genuinely curious as to if she could feel the same way as me.
That night as she curled up against my body, head on my chest as her breath tickled me, I realized that I loved her. I waited until I thought she was asleep, softly stroking her back until I told her myself.
"I love you y/n. I think I've been in love with you for a while but I wouldn't admit it." I whisper to myself in the dark, somehow feeling lighter like a great burden has been lifted. My dreams were full of our future together, bright and happy days ahead of us.
Y/N POV
Waking up the next morning, the atmosphere felt different. You can't help but smile at how Rudy is wrapped around you: one of his legs trapped between yours, left arm under your pillow while his right is wrapped around your torso holding you tight to him. You turn over gently, admiring his sleeping form. His lips are slightly parted, long lashes fanning over his sun-kissed cheeks. You bring up your right hand, tracing the sculpted line of his jaw lightly so you don't wake him up. You press a soft kiss to his cheek, feathering more over his entire face before settling back down into the crook of his neck.
He stirs awake, kissing your forehead softly as he shifts onto his back. "Good morning beautiful." You blush at his compliment, warmth spreading through your system at the deepness of his sleepy voice. You prop up on your elbow, gazing down at him once again and wondering how you ended up here.
"What's going through that pretty mind of yours?" He brushes your hair back out of your face, hand lingering on the side of your head.
You give him a soft smile, heart racing at what you're about to say. "That I need to tell you something. I love you Rudy, I'm in love with you. Sort of think I have been since the beginning, but I was trying to convince myself otherwise."
You let the breath you were holding escape from your lips, weight lifting from your shoulders after finally confessing your feelings. He's quiet for a moment, making you worried he doesn't feel the same way as his gorgeous blue eyes rake over your face, looking for something he apparently finds.
He rolls you to your back, coming to rest lightly over top of you before leaning down to kiss you sweetly, taking his time to explore every inch of your mouth. "Oh y/n, I love you too sweetheart. You drive me crazy sometimes, but I can't imagine my life without you. Will you please be mine? Officially?"
You heart explodes as you laugh, pulling down into a bear hug and smothering him in kisses. "So is that a yes?" he asks, pulling back to look you in the eye.
"Yes Rudy, consider me yours."

buck tries to not let the dream linger. he carries the revelations in his heart and answers questions when asked but for the most part between tests and visitors he does his best not to remember.
“chimney told me you saw daniel in your dream.”
he should have seen that coming. he hadn’t meant to share that particular detail with chim, only bringing it up in passing, and had thought, hoped, that he wouldn’t notice.
“what was he like? all grown up.” maddie’s breath hitches on the last word.
“he wasn’t real,” he tells her gently. “he was just a figment of my imagination.”
“no, i know. i know.” she goes back to wiping down the counter, the surface already sparkling, and he knows she isn’t going to drop the subject that easily. “i was just wondering how you imagined him, i guess.”
buck could lie. he was perfect. he was kind. he was everything i’ve imagined since i learned he existed. he’s kept a lot of details close to the chest. no one needs to know that the thought of bobby’s death is what sent him into respiratory failure. that maddie’s fear of having doug’s kid was what finally made him realize he was actually in a nightmare. that his subconscious couldn’t even fathom an eddie who didn’t have christopher, leaving him nothing but a memory. but this is maddie and he’s never been any good at lying to her.
“i saved him.” that’s right, his brother. didn’t realize that you people remembered that he had one.
“he was a doctor.” of all the hospitals you had to work here. “worked at first pres with you.”
“he teased me.” still a pretty boneheaded move…he’s just being dramatic.
“he drank beer and watched penn games with me and dad.” let’s just hope evan doesn’t jinx it. “he looked like dad.”
“he wouldn’t help me fix things with you and doug.” i try to butt out. you might want to try it.
“he tried to make me stay.” the real world sucks. that’s the beauty of this place. it can be anything that you want it to be.
“he did?” maddie asks, a tear falling swiftly down her cheek.
“he wasn’t real.” it’s a reminder for them both. buck watches her. watches the disappointment shining in her tear-filled eyes that she tries to hide by looking away from him. she may as well be screaming it.
they don’t care about you. why would they? you’re not good enough, never have been.
“he was, he was a face for all of the worst parts of me. all of my ugliest thoughts and i made him say them.” he doesn’t realize he’s crying as well until maddie reaches out to brush a tear away for him, the move so gentle and familiar that he grabs her hand before she can pull away fully.
“oh buck.” she wraps her arms around him, tucking her head beneath his chin and squeezing him tight three times. i’m alive. i’m alive. i’m alive.
in the end daniel wasn’t much of anything really. a passive player in buck’s mind. a handful of moments that buck thinks could have been memories if life had been different. he meant what he said to daniel at the end. he loves him. the idea of him, because cruelly that’s all buck was left with. but he does have his sister, who is warm and safe and real.
“do you think we could, maybe, talk about him sometimes?” he whispers into her hair. “i know it makes you sad but i, i’d really like to know what he was like. while he was here.”
maddie pulls back and to his surprise she’s smiling. “i’d really like that.”
“yeah?” he smiles too and it feels like the sun has come out from behind a cloud.
“yeah.” and she talks.

theory that buck gets in a coma and this girl sees how absolutely distraught eddie is over it. and she says “you love him. don’t you?” And eddie just does a defeated nod like you know that little head bow thing he does yeah that. and he’s like “but I had to move on since I can’t have him. It would just… mess things up.” and she gently says, “you know that means you can’t have anyone else either” and there’s a dramatic pause where eddie looks at her almost offended and she sits before explaining, “as long as he’s in your life, you will never be able to move on. whoever is in your life romantically will never be able to compete with him. and im not sure if if you noticed or not—I don’t know, maybe you don’t even like women and I’m realizing that now maybe I should’ve figured that out before I made myself look like a fool getting all those injuries— but I’ve been playing that game. I realize it was a curse. because I was so interested in you but… you wouldn’t even look at me.”
And eddie just stares at her and says lightly, “you shouldn’t have been giving yourself all those injuries for my attention to begin with. regardless of whether or not I like women…”
And they both chuckle right? and then eddie says “you’re right. I have to make a decision on choosing to move on and completely distancing myself from him or moving on…” with a distant look on his face.
And she stares at him with sympathy before saying “but do you think you could move on? Ever? I mean eddie he’s in a coma and they don’t know if he’ll ever wake up yet every day you sit by that hospital bed for at least three hours and talk to him about Christopher or what’s going on at the job..”
And eddie just looks at her and goes, “no. I don’t think I ever could. and it’s killing me because I feel like I was too late. Again. It’s like *im* cursed.”
And he just breaks down but the ending scene we see eddie at the hospital with Maddie chim and Bobby as they tell them that buck looks like he’ll wake up.
I hope you enjoyed this like mini fic but IMAGINE. it’s the obsessed singer theory mixed in with felisa eddie friendship theory mixed in with the coma theory. I WOULD DIE
LIKE THIS IS SO GOOOOOD!!!! It’s all those theories combined and it’s delicious!!!
Meanwhile, when all this is going on, Buck is having his coma fantasy of the perfect life he’s always wanted. He wakes up in the morning in Eddie’s strong arms. He looks down into Eddie’s beautiful sleeping features and leans down to place a kiss on his cheek.
Then they go have breakfast with their son and it’s just so domestic and Buck realizes that he’s just so happy to be there with his boys. They drop off Chris and then head into work together, holding hands.
Eddie takes off his shirt and Buck is faced with his boyfriends killer body that’s all lines sharp enough to cut someone. He’s salivating at the mouth.
Eddie smirks and he walks towards Buck and kisses the surprise off his face.
They have a regular work day and it’s just everything a Buck has ever wanted. He’s happy, he’s settled and he’s finally at ease. They go home after their shift to their son waiting for them. They have dinner as a family and then watch a movie before bed. Finally, he gets into bed and his immediately wrapped into his boyfriends arms again. And Buck is just so goddamn content and he closes his eyes to just let it all resonate with himself.
And then BAM! He opens his eyes and he’s not in a bed with Eddie. He’s in a hospital bed, and Eddie is right there next to him, just holding his hand. CAN YOU IMAGINE?!?!

SaL anon here friend and I'm glad I got my rage ask out yesterday because there is soooooo much good OG stuff to talk about!! Never thought these are things i'd get to say but Buck getting lightninged and Eddie screaming his name as he climbs up the fucking ladder to save him feels like fucking Christmas (bonus if he does it over Bobby's orders)!! We are gonna live on Monday, i can feel it. I scheduled my check-up that day so I have an excuse to be useless, no idea what I'll come up with for
Tuesday yet. And apparently I'll need a plan for the next week too since we're then getting coma!Buck imagining he was never a firefighter!! So here's some hopes/speculation on how this plays out. I definitely feel like we're going to get an appropriately traumatized Eddie in the first of these episodes (especially if he has to tell Chris), but maybe not as much in the 2nd (though if they don't take this chance to finally work in a Eddie and Maddie talk I'll riot) since it's KR, who the aftermath of Eddie's shooting was a perfect time for BT to get together (meaning I'm keeping my Buddie expectations tempered). But that doesn't mean there aren't other things I hope for. First, we can FINALLY get Maddie out of dispatch and interacting with the firefam. Even better if the Buckley parents are there and everyone just glares at them. As for the coma dream itself, i'd love it if this became a chance to refocus on Buck and Bobby's relationship. Hear me out, Buck might change his dream career but he can't change his childhood or how his parents act. So i'd love to see moments of Buck's dad being proud or giving advice in his dream it it comes out wrong, or goes against the things Bobby would say and Buck pauses and feels it's off somehow. Hell i'd love for the dream to have weird funhouse mirrors of everyone (like Maddie has a not-Chim husband who everyone says is funny but Buck just doesn't get why) but i'd really love to take the comparison between Bobby and Buck's dad specifically. And if this isn't what finally gives us some realization for Buck about happiness, and what that really means to HIM, I'll declare the writers and KR incompetent because the setup is RIGHT THERE. I won't speculate about how this could tie into that other thing, we are taking the next two episodes as a win!! Plus we have some new SaL songs coming and I can't wait to see if we can use them so good luck to us surviving!
Me, seeing your ask pop up and getting ready to indulge in some good old fashioned 911 feels:
Tumblr media
Like, what is even happening right now?! We are getting fed?! So well?! I don't even know what to do with all the excitement! I am going to be distracted Monday but I know I'm gonna be absolutely USELESS on Tuesday. If I was working at home at least I could pretend I was getting work done and not on my phone all day. No such luck anymore! 😭 At least my data will be back and I won't be yelling "let me iiiiiiiin" to my phone screen as ever screen takes 10 minutes to load.
So I'm also trying (and failing, badly) to manage my expectations re: Buddie because we KNOW KR hates those on-screen interactions and conversations and the 2 that came out of the shooting were not her idea to include. And honestly we have been begging for a Maddie/Eddie conversation since s2! It's tiiiime! If not now, then when?! I'm ready for it!! I'm also ready to see the firefam at Buck's bedside FINALLY which we haven't gotten since Bobby in s1 and even that had really weird "are they gonna put Bobby and Abby together?!" vibes. Still eternally baffled at what TF Carla was doing there to talk to Maddie instead of literally anyone else in the firefam who just rescued Buck. ANYWAY. Moving on.
I am DYYYYYYING for some Buck/Bobby father/son goodness and this whole situation better fucking deliver. That dynamic has always been one of my favorites and I HATE that s5 told us Buck called Bobby to watch Eddie but didn't SHOW us a single instance of Buck and Bobby talking about what was going on with Eddie. Jail. So I'm also hoping for some Bobby stuff around this whole situation and if it can contrast Buck's own parents? Even better. And I know we're all talking about Bobby but whooo boy do I want to see a reaction from Athena too. GOD if we get coma dream mixed with present day and get to see each of the firefam talking to Buck at some point?! Hearing them all call him "Buckaroo"?! I'm going to eat DRYWALL.
I'm resolutely NOT thinking about that other storyline because that does not spark joy, but I'm VERY interested to see what Buck learns about his life and the secret to happiness through all this. As for songs, I'm begging for "In Another Life" to give us the Learning Curve discussion of our dreams because it's RIGHT THERE. And as low as I'm trying to keep expectations, they cannot have Eddie screaming for Buck and putting himself in danger to rescue Buck and NOT give everyone ideas so.....*manifesting 6b 3rd party confession*
Cheers my friend, we are not ready for this!!

Minnie's POV
After a long and tiring ride, we finally arrived at our destination.
“This is prettier than I imagined.” Lina spoke while looking out of the window.
“It is, it looks better than in the pictures.” I agreed.
“It says here that we're 20 minutes away from the airbnb.” Eric informed us, as he looked on the google maps that was on his phone.
“Cool.”
We rented a house big enough for the 14 of us, it was way cheaper than staying at a hotel.
We continued our way while listening to Monsters by All Time Low, one of my favorite songs. I was leaning against the window, admiring the view. It was a very colorful and cute town, with a few cars and pedestrians. Perfect for a chill and fun trip, I couldn't wait to explore the place.
Without realizing my eyes started to close, I guess I was tired of driving since I did it for a few hours before my boyfriend switched with me.
✱*.:。✧*
I felt someone gently shaking me, which made me open my eyes slowly.
“Morning, sweetie.” Eric cutely smiled.
“Hi.” I replied with a small smile. Then I rubbed my eyes and yawned, I was so exhausted.
Before I was able to get up from my seat, someone lifted and carried me in their arms.
“What are you doing?” I giggled.
“Just taking care of my girl.” I blushed. “You know I can walk, right?” I talked still smiling.
“Obviously, but you're so sleepy you'll barely walk properly.” He pointed out.
“Okay, true but still.” I yawned once again and leaned against his chest. “I'll let you carry me just cause I feel too tired to argue.”
“Thank you for the honor, Mins.”
“You're welcome, honey.”
We laughed together and started moving towards the house. Our friends were waiting for us in the living room.
“Finally, what took you guys so long?” Maddie sighed, sounding annoyed.
“I wasn't able to wake Mins up, she's a heavy sleeper.” Eric answered while taking a sit on the couch next to Dottie and Jeno, me on his lap.
“That's true, one day at a sleepover I had to spray her with water cause she didn't wake up.” Josie commented, making all of our friends laugh.
I just glared and stuck my tongue out playfully at her. “Still can’t believe you did that, I’m not a cat.”
“Okay people, there's seven rooms so there's gonna be 2 people per room.” Mae informed us.
“We already know that Jeno and Dottie are sharing, as well as Minnie and Eric.” Blake said.
“Jaeden and I can share a room too, we've done it before when we've had sleepovers.”
“Okay! We can be roomies if you want.” Mae looked at Maddie.
“Sure.” She shrugged.
“Evan will share with me.” Louis said, not surprising us that much, since we all knew he had a crush on her. Minus the girl, of course.
“Noooo, please save me.” The blonde pleaded. “He's going to tease me and won't let me sleep.”
“I promise I won't.” She gave him a look. “Okayyyy, not that much.”
She pointed at him threateningly. “I warn you that I'll make your life miserable if I don't get my beauty sleep.”
“Okay, okay.” He lifted his arms up in defense.
“That leaves Braeden and Kai, Blake and Josie.
“We'll share.” Josie talked, looking at the black haired, who nodded.
“Looks like B and Kai will be roomies.”
“Okay.”
I feel like they could be good friends, they're similar.
“We'll unpack tomorrow, let's go to sleep.” My older sister spoke.
“Okay, Mom Mae.”
“Night!” We all said in unison and parted our ways.
The blonde haired carried me again bridal style. We arrived at our room and he placed me gently on the bed.
Eric searched for his pijama on his luggage and went to the bathroom that was inside the room, while I got comfortable under the covers and closed my eyes.
“Aren't you gonna change?” My boyfriend asked as he lay down next to me.
“Nop, I'm too tired and lazy.” I giggled.
“Okay. Sleep well, sweetie.”
“You too, honey.”
I put my head on his chest as he wrapped his arm around my waist. And just like that I fell asleep, not knowing what was waiting for us.

I saw you wrote a Now You See Me fic and I was wondering how you would do a NYSM AU for the 911 characters? Maybe how would you dress them too?
*gasps* NONNIE THIS IS A GIFT!
So the thing about that movie is that it's a Robin Hood heist type of movie. Ok so Bobby would definitely be the Dylan role. The one that's pulling all the strings but isn't actually on stage with the others. But he can pull off pretty much any magic trick imaginable. Athena would be an FBI agent and they met when she had to call Bobby in to help her solve a case. They fell in love and got married and it took Athena all of ten minutes to figure out that Bobby was involved in some... less than upfront business. But she knows her husband and she knows that sometimes the rules don't often help people when they should so as long as she doesn't see it, she doesn't need to know about it.
I'd make Eddie the daredevil. He's the escape artist who can pretty much break through any lock. He drives fast cars, motorcycles, and walks through fire. He'd also be a fighter (but the more like healthy way like Ryan does in real life where it's a release and it's about endurance/mindfulness and not the poor coping skills to deal with his trauma that Eddie had in season three) His life is high stakes, high paced, and locked in speed which would be a really awesome parallel to his calm demeanor. I'd pretty much keep him in the same clothes he wears now but like a shit ton more of those v-neck shirts. Give me all the v-necks. Season 4 hair FOR SURE!
Hen would be the animal tamer. Literally there isn't an animal that she doesn't connect with. She has so many pockets and literally there's just animals hanging out in them. Like it wouldn't be uncommon for her to just be talking to someone and then randomly out pops a baby bunny like it's nothing. The ferret definitely hates Chimney. Her and Karen would also have an animal sanctuary where they take care of animals that have been abused or abandoned by hack jobs, circuses, and magicians who didn't realize the care and work that comes with working with animals. I think I would keep Hen in the same style she is in the show but I would let her have a bolder lip and wild glasses like Aisha has in real life. Karen is already fabulous so we will not be touching a hair on her head.
Chimney is absolutely the mentalist. He's been on talk shows, he's been a consultant on failed TV shows, he's even almost had his own show on TLC. But nothing sticks. He has the perfect charisma to be a front man but things just keep falling through. But he can read a person from halfway across the room without a blink. He is very good at his job. Literally one of the best. I'd keep his scruffy Chimney look from S4 but I would stick closer to Kenny Choi's style at premieres. He's always ready to be on if the occasion arises so he wants to look good. Button down, slacks, possibly a chest. I mean talk about dreamboat Chimney with him in a three piece suit but no tie and the sleeves of his button up rolled up his forearms! OH MY GOOOODDDD!
And finally, the newbies. The Buckley Siblings. They ran away young and haven't stopped running since. They're pickpockets. Buck is a prodigy at sleight of hand and Maddie is one of the best grifters no one knows about. Buck has the fastest hands Bobby has ever seen as he watched Buck nick about five wallets, a watch, and someone's phone in less than two minutes. Maddie has a keen ability to blend in almost anywhere. She can catch your attention one second and then blend into the crowd the next. Like we're talking full on Megan Fox doing a costume change in the middle of Grand Central in TMNT. They're good kids though. They never steal more than they need and they keep their targets, if they can help it, to business people with three piece suits and Rolexes that cost more than any apartment Bobby's ever had. But Buck's fingers are young and restless and Bobby watched Buck lift a woman's wallet only to drop it back into her purse when he heard her talking on the phone about how her asshole boss had screamed at her in front of everyone. A noble gesture but the quickest way to get caught. He corners Buck knowing that picking the younger of the two will bring out Maddie (she's very protective of her brother and she could give Marvel's The Black Widow a run for her money) and offers them a job. We'd keep it to the Buck S1 looks (GIVE ME THOSE RIPPED JEANS PLEASE) because he'd be still very young during this but keep the S4 hair but Maddie would be all JLH's style because stunning. STUNNING I say! And she would have the most versatility because it's just constantly changing.
I'd probably go a more Leverage style in regards to the heist rather than get too complicated with all the stuff about The Eye but there'd be so much Madney and Buddie and Bathena and Henren love happening because when you're a drifter the family you find is so important. So it'd be a lot of Found Family Vibes. There'd be a bit where they're disguised as firefighters of course. Perfect opportunities for hurt/comfort too! I think I would do Eddie Whump though this time around (I know! But imagine that like the baddie sabotaging Eddie's locks or something and they can't get to him) OH MAYBE THEY CON DOUG OR SOMETHING.
Anyways thanks Nonnie cus now I'm gonna be thinking about this all day.

elmosolyodni: to slowly break out into a genuine smile when being overcome with emotions, like love or utter happiness.
read on ao3
As much as he wanted it to be, as much as he wanted it for himself, Eddie’s never been great at romance.
His proposal to Shannon was more like a suggestion, a stuttering statement that tumbled out of him when she showed him the positive test six months after their first date. And he didn’t give it much thought again — didn’t have time to think about it — until a couple months into his tour, when his team was swapping stories about wives and husbands over dinner and someone asked, “So Diaz, how’d you pop the question?”
The fact that he didn’t have a story to tell stung more than he thought it would.
He tried to make it up to her — bought her flowers when he was home, took her out for their anniversary every year, but between parenthood and redeployment and the growing chasm between them when he came back the second time, any notion of romance felt harder and harder to hold onto. And when she left, amid the panic and shame and anger, there was also a sadness, a resignation that the romance he’d quietly craved just wasn’t meant for him. He had bills to pay, a kid to take care of, a life to rebuild. Sweeping gestures from him or for him no longer seemed important.
That all changed when he met Buck, as most things in his life did.
Even before they started dating, Eddie wanted to do things for Buck. He wanted to buy him the shirt in the window display that reminded him of his eyes, wanted to make sure that they always had his weird Icelandic yogurt in the fridge for when he stayed over, wanted to wrap him up when he got that broken look on his face and remind him that he is loved by everyone and especially by Eddie. It was a physical need, one he felt in his gut every time, but he’d shut that part of himself off so firmly that all he could do was hope it didn’t linger too long. Buck needed a friend, and he’d be damned if he did anything stupid enough to ruin what they already had, what they’d already built.
It took a bullet ripping through his abdomen to make him realize what a terrible idea that had been.
But a year later wounds are healed, PT is long done, and he wakes up next to Buck every morning feeling happier than he has in almost a decade. He gets to buy the shirt for him, stock up on yogurt, and press himself into Buck’s space until his eyes get their spark back. He can fantasize about the house they’ll buy or the dogs they’ll adopt once Chris moves out.
He can see a titanium ring in the display case of the jewelry store at the mall and perfectly imagine what it would look like on Buck’s finger.
And he can make it all the way to his truck after buying it before the panic starts to set it.
He doesn’t register driving to Maddie and Chim’s until he’s frantically knocking on the door, hoping he heard Buck right and that Maddie’s off today taking care of a sick Jee-yun. The door flies open, and he sees Maddie’s face go from pissed to surprised to confused as she zeros in on the velvet box held limply in his hand.
“Uh, Eddie, that’s really sweet, but there are a lot of reasons why this would never work.”
His laugh is borderline hysterical as he gently pushes into the apartment. “It’s for Buck, but I— we haven’t really— I don’t even know if—” He doesn’t realize he’s pacing until Maddie takes his elbow and steers him to the couch, hands him a glass of water, and pushes him to sit.
“Breathe. Drink,” she says, and he does as his mind keeps spinning. She sets the empty glass on the coffee table and sits in the armchair across from him. “Okay. You want to propose. That’s a good thing, right?”
“Of course.” It’s the best thing, at the very top of a list of things he thought were untoppable.
“Have you guys talked about getting married?”
It wasn’t so much a conversation as a shift in language — one day the phrase “if we get married” changed to “when we get married” and neither of them thought twice about it because it felt so right.
“Sort of,” he settles on.
“And you’re sure he’d say yes?”
“Yes.” There’s few things in life he’s ever been so sure of, no matter what his earlier panic was making him think.
“So what’s the problem?”
He slumps back on the couch, hands running through his hair. “I don’t know how to do it.”
Maddie squints at him. “Eddie, it’s a pretty hard thing to mess up. And you’ve already been married, so don’t you have some practice?”
“That was different,” he says. “Shannon was already pregnant, it was more like a to-do list item than anything else. I didn’t even get her a ring until a couple months later.”
“Well you’re already a step ahead there, so that’s good.”
He sighs, pulling the ring box out of his pocket again and opening it. The thin line of silver running through the black glints in the sunlight, and he can still picture Buck wearing it so clearly, he’s just not sure how it gets there. All he knows is this aching need he can feel in his chest to make sure that however he does it, it’s enough — more than enough — that Buck knows exactly how deep his love runs, exactly how desperately Eddie needs him in his life and by his side.
Maddie moves to sit next to him and takes the box, and Eddie falls back into the cushions again. “I just want it to be perfect for him,” he says quietly. “Romantic. All the stuff people dream about when they think about getting engaged. But I have no idea how to do that.”
Maddie studies the ring for a minute before shutting the box, pressing it into his hand until he looks her in the eye. Her gaze is steady, piercing, and very (scarily) reminiscent of her brother’s. “You are asking him to marry you. It’s already perfect.” The reassurance helps, and it’s easy to smile back at her when she squeezes his hand.
“But,” she says, reaching for a pen and notebook on the coffee table, “a little romance never killed anyone, so let’s make some lists and figure out what you do and don’t want to do.”
Lists sound good. Eddie can work with lists.
“Rule number one,” she says, already scribbling, “no sporting events. Nothing kills the mood faster than seeing your face on a Jumbotron…”
~~~~~~~~~~
In the end, none of the lists really matter.
Because two weeks later, they’re sitting on the back patio after dinner, night air cool and lit up around them by the lights Chris insisted on hanging for his last backyard sleepover. Buck’s going on about a patient who tried to insist he could do CPR on himself, and Eddie’s hypnotized by his enthusiasm, the expressiveness of his hands and the joyful blush on his cheeks. He says something that makes both of them laugh, bubbling through the quiet of the neighborhood, and Eddie knows, immediately and with every part of him.
He has to ask Buck now. It’s not the candlelit dinner and walk on the beach he’d decided on with Maddie, nor is it even close to as big and bold as anything else they’d come up with. But none of that matters now because his skin is buzzing and his heart is pounding and he doesn’t want the ring burning in his pocket a minute longer — he wants to swear himself to Buck right here, in this moment that is extraordinarily ordinary and perfectly them. This is a story he wants to tell people over and over, to their family and friends and anyone else who will listen.
The universe must still be trying to make up for the hell it put him through last year, because the playlist coming through their portable speaker changes to something softer, romantic, and Eddie takes his chance before he talks himself out of it.
“Dance with me,” he says, standing and offering his hand to Buck.
“I’m sorry, are my stories boring?” Buck laughs as he takes his hand, folding into Eddie’s space like he’s always meant to be there, arms wrapping around his waist and pulling him close.
“Never,” Eddie says, and he pauses, because the one thing he and Maddie didn’t talk about was what he actually wanted to say to Buck when he asked. And now that he’s here with very little preparation, the huge, all-encompassing feelings he has for Buck refuse to be wrangled into a few measly sentences. None of the words he can think of feel big enough to capture how deeply his love runs, and he can feel his skin start buzzing for a much more unpleasant reason.
Hands squeeze his waist, zoning him back in and focusing him on Buck, on the crease between his eyebrows and the worry around his mouth. “Everything okay?” he asks, because he always knows when Eddie gets lost in himself, sometimes even before Eddie figures it out.
Buck knows him better than he knows himself. He doesn’t need big, poetic monologues for Buck to understand what’s going on inside his head.
The buzzing changes again, fueling his determination as he slips his hand into his pocket. “I love you. So much it’s almost scary. But I’m more scared of spending the rest of my life without you,” he holds the ring up between them, “so will you marry me?”
Buck freezes, stopping them both from swaying with the music. Eddie watches his eyes flit between the ring and Eddie and back again, holding his breath as he waits for an answer. Finally, Buck’s eyes lock on Eddie and stay there, a soft smile growing and growing until it’s so incandescently bright that Eddie’s afraid he might have to look away or risk losing his vision.
And then, just as quickly, Buck drops his hands from Eddie’s waist and runs back into the house.
Eddie honestly isn’t sure what to make of this, the only thought running through his head being what the fuck just happened here. But then Buck’s running back outside, still smiling and not-so-secretly holding something behind his back, and now it’s Eddie’s turn to glow.
“You’re joking,” he says quietly, cheeks already hurting from a smile that feels permanent and eyes feeling a little wet.
Buck shakes his head, his eyes shining too as he holds up the velvet box. “Bought it like a month ago when Chris and I went to buy him a new backpack, I had to bribe him with a new video game to keep him quiet. I haven’t even gotten a chance to tell Maddie yet.”
Eddie wouldn’t be surprised if the sheer amount of joy coursing through his veins was making him float a couple inches off the ground. “Is that a yes then?” he asks.
Buck’s laugh is loud and sharp, and Eddie can’t think of a more perfect sound. He takes the ring out and tosses the box aside, holding it up next to the one in Eddie’s hand. “Only if you’ll marry me too.”
It’s a flurry, then, of rings on fingers and breathless kisses and whispers of I love you, I love you so much. The whirlwind settles and they start swaying to the music again, holding each other even closer, and Eddie revels in the new weight on his hand that ties them together. He feels light and loved, completely enveloped in this romance that he’s finally able to give fully and receive just as well.
Buck takes his hand and places a kiss just below his ring, and Eddie knows this is just the beginning. They have a lifetime of love and happiness ahead of them, and Eddie finally feels like he deserves it.
Amoreena | Chapter Five
Tumblr media
Chapter Five
main summary: Heaven is a real place and it's located exactly 14.6 miles away from the FBI, Quantico Headquarters. Off behind a small park, under a fantastical willow tree surrounded by wildflowers, in every colour young minds can imagine.
Don't forget, heaven also comes with angels.
Chapter Summary: (fluff only) weekly Saturday reading only they are joined by an extra 15 lost boys, not just Spencer
Warnings (adding as they happen): fluff, hurt/comfort, depressed spencer, reader has a daughter, falling in love, strangers to lovers, library smut, oral (female receiving) lots and lots of fluff
word count: 3K
from the beginning <3
He woke up Saturday morning to the sound of a bunch of voices coming from beyond the walls of his room. Only it wasn’t his room, it was the room he slept in when he stayed with Y/N and Amoreena, he hasn’t left since he arrived on Thursday and he had no plan to either.
They still hadn’t told her about their relationship, not wanting her to come crawling into bed with her mom in the morning to find Spencer there too. She wasn’t ready to explain to Amoreena what it meant for Spencer to be in her bed, how they were in love and that she might need to learn how to knock before entering.
So he slept in the spare room, completely contently because he knew she was only on the other side of the wall, instead of 30 minutes away like she would be when he slept at his own apartment.
It had been a week since he saw them reading in the park, and now they were his family. It was incredibly fast, anyone who heard the news would say so. But that’s how his life worked, he blew through everything incredibly fast, it only made sense for him to skip every step in the book and become a stepdad overnight.
He woke up then, missing Y/N and Amoreena as he thought about the last week. Finally getting dressed and peaking outside, through the crack in the blinds, to see what was going on on the farm.
There were a bunch of men in the field with the cows dropping new cattle off in a big truck as a bunch of children ran around the yard. Y/N wasn’t kidding when she said her 7 siblings had produced 15 cousins for Amoreena to play with. Children all between the ages of toddler and 7-years-old, screaming while they ran after Rufus and the cats, it was a pure dopamine rush to witness.
He found Y/N in the living room, a book in one hand and a coffee in the other, “good morning cutie, all the ruckus on the farm wake you up?” She did her best fake southern accent as she smiled at him. Beautiful as ever in the early morning sunshine.
He nodded with a yawn, sitting beside her and snuggling into her shoulder. She placed her mug in his hands so she could wrap an arm around him and pull him in closer, letting him take a sip of coffee and become a real person again.
He noticed she was reading a book he had never seen before, reading the pages and not know the words. It was a first for him.
“What’s that one about?”
Y/N closed it to let him look at the cover. It was a hand-bound book, wrapped in green fabric that was at least 30 years old and in well-loved condition. The gold lettering reading Amoreena, along with a pressed gold rose and the author's name. He had never heard of it before.
“My grandma was an aspiring writer and the reason I love books so much, her name was Peggy and she had a dream once about a wonderful little girl named Amoreena and the magical life she created for herself. She wrote it all down and my grandpa had it typed and bound for her, she was so proud of this book,” Y/N gushed, smiling as she held it to her chest softly, thinking of all the memories Spencer didn’t know yet.
“Really?” Spencer couldn’t help but smile at her.
She nodded softly, “she loved Elton John, so much so that when my sister Ashley came out she threw her a party. Almost all those kids out there are Ashley's, by the way, she went down the adoption and foster root after I did IVF.”
She pointed out the front window at all the people gathered on her land, “Ben and Dylan dropped their kids off too while they help dad and Evan with the farm. Those are my brothers in case you didn’t know their names yet, there’s also Carver and Francis but they don’t live as close.”
Her little life was just so perfect, “did they want to come with us to read this afternoon? We need some lost boys.”
“They’d love that, are you sure you can handle 16 kids between the two of us?” she smiled, pure love spreading through her body as she held him.
“They’re not so different from psychopaths right?” He teased, watching her settle against him even more as they enjoyed their Saturday together.
“What else can you tell me about your grandma?” He snuggled into her more as he asked, wanting to know as much about her happiness as possible.
“She was always listening to music, she loved Elton's song Amoreena the most. It was the song she played for the majority of my childhood. It only made sense for me to name my little miracle Amoreena too, cause I wouldn’t have her unless nanny suggested I have a baby.”
“I would have loved to meet her.”
Y/N’s smile changed then, “she would have loved you and your big mind.”
“My mom wants to meet you and Amoreena,” he announces softly, he hasn’t really told her anything about his family yet.
“What’s she like?”
“She has schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s and she lives in a care home in DC right now, I try and see her when I can but she has her own schedule so I have to fit around when she’s having a good day,” it was hard to explain it to most people, but not to her. He didn’t feel any shame or fear in introducing them. Y/N was the most loving human, and Amoreena was just the same.
“When is she free next?” A simple question that made him feel incredibly giddy.
“Tuesday from 3-5,” he snuggled in closer to her as she wraps her arm around him.
“We’ll pick Amoreena up from school after work and take her over,” Y/N agreed, their lives intertwining like they were always meant to.
Like she was the ivy on his old cottage, she took him in and made him her own, wrapping herself all around him and never letting him go again.
He basically finishes her coffee while she holds him on the couch. The sound of the kids outside making them laugh every once in a while, dogs barking and cows mooing, the farm was alive and roaring while they enjoyed each other's company.
“Did you bring your costume for the reading today?”
He sat right up then, looking at her like she lost her mind, “of course I did, I wouldn’t have Penelope spend a week tracking down a Captain Hook costume just to forget it.”
Y/N’s jaw dropped, “you didn’t?!”
He simply nodded with a cheeky grin, “come on Tinker Bell, everyone knows she had a thing for Hook.”
“Who didn’t? He was the first and last bad boy I was interested in, I typically go more for Milo’s and Ariel’s; full of adventure and always learning something new,” Y/N teased him.
“Mhm, I always had a thing for Aladdin and Belle in search of far off lands and happy endings,” he mused, making her smile just as much as he was, “but for real it was between Hook and Wendy for my costume,” he made her laugh again, wanting to hear it for the rest of time.
“You still can, I have a blue nightgown you can borrow,” it was so easy for them to flirt, it fit into their conversation so simply it felt like they had been together forever.
He couldn’t help leaning in to kiss her, resting her back against the couch softly as she held onto him. He loved kissing her, she tasted like coffee and happiness every single time. She made the cutest sounds when they would make out like she was surprised by it or she wasn’t used to it at all.
She made him feel like he was young again like he was 21 and in love for the first time. All his trauma disappeared and that Spencer who used to stare back at him in the mirror was gone now. That guy packed his bags and left the farm to never be seen again.
Good fucking riddance is all he had to say.
He was happy, he enjoyed being happy and he was going to stay happy. It was the only goal he had going forward, and as long as he was in her embrace, surround by the laugher of her child and family, he knew it would be possible.
Amoreena came running inside then, finding the two of them making out on the couch before they could part from each other.
“Ewww!” She cried, jumping on top of the two of them and knocking the wind out of Spencer.
“Get off,” Y/N tried to speak as she was crushed by the two of them. “Mom down!”
Spencer picks Amoreena up then, taking her away from the couch and spinning her around like she’s an airplane. She cheers and cheers and doesn’t want him to put her down because it’s so fun. The next thing he knows he’s being dragged outside to twirl all the kids around like they’re Peter Pan, flying through the air on their way to Neverland.
He’s surrounded by giggles and tickles fights, he’s tackled down against the dirt as a herd of tiny children dog pilled him. Laughing until he cried, feeling more joy than humanly possible and then Y/N’s telling them all to get ready to he’d to the park.
Coming down the stairs in a pirate costume to a bunch of screaming kids was an experience and a half. Spencer couldn’t believe how happy it made them all to imagine Captain Hook had broken into the house and Amoreena, or Peter Pan as she corrected him, chased him outside with all the lost boys.
He took a moment to learn all their names, all 15 of them, however, unlike the cats, they had relatively normal people names.
Kate, Cade, Jet, Lauren, Cassie, Sara, Evan, Benny, Olivia, Jessie, Owen, Maddie, Gwen, August, and Parker, were the cutest little family of cousins. some looked like Amoreena, some looked like their own mothers, a handful of them were adopted out of the country, they were the most perfect cast of lost boys.
He's never had any cousins, no pets, no siblings. His life never felt lonely until he realized what he missed out on.
“Dad,” Amoreena whispered as she tugged on his shirt lightly, “look!”
She pointed towards the house where Y/N was standing. When she said she was going as Tinker Bell he really didn’t think she meant looking exactly like Julia Roberts at the end of Hook.
She looked magical in her beautiful white dress, curly hair with the most perfectly placed flowers and flawless wings wrapped around her shoulders. She was a vision standing on the porch, waiting for him to pick his jaw up off the floor and compliment her.
“Tink,” the words are more like air, soft and barely there.
“Is Captain Hook being nice? Or should we take him to the pond and let the Alligators deal with him?” Y/N teased, marching down the stairs and poking Spencer's chest.
“Ouch,” he teased her, holding his hand over his heart to make her feel bad.
But she didn’t, “some Pirate you are,” she teased, sticking her tongue out at him before taking Amoreena’s hand and running off down the trail towards the main house, everyone following her lead.
Nanny packed enough snacks for all 16 kids, and a little extra just in case. Spencer slipped the lunch box over his shoulder and they made their way towards the adventure. Y/N pulling a wagon just in case the littlest ones didn’t want to walk anymore. It was spectacular.
Y/N stopped then, pretending to stand like an army man turning around abruptly to look at the troop. “Lost boys, are we ready?”
“Yes, Tinker Bell!” They cheered back.
“On my lead, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4,” she marched, bringing her knees up high as they all followed her down the path. “We’re following the leader, the leader, the leader,” she began to sing.
Spencer was in awe, his heart felt like it was going to explode as he watched everyone follow her. Singing along as they marched their tiny little butts down to the park.
“We’re following the leader wherever she may go!” Amoreena yelled the lyrics back, leading the pack as Peter Pan should.
“Tee dum, tee dee, a teedle ee do tee day Tee dum, tee dee, it's part of the game we play Tee dum, tee dee, the words are easy to say Just a teedle ee dum, a teedle ee do tee day
Tee dum, tee dee, a teedle ee do tee dum We're one for all, and all of us out for fun We march in line and follow the other one With a teedle ee do, a teedle ee do tee dum”
It was like magic, they all knew the words and they sang the whole way down the path. Every verse and then repeating it. Not a single kid strayed from the path, no one complained about sore feet or hot backs, they loved their Aunty Y/N and so did Spencer.
“We’re off on an adventure, adventure, adventure,” Y/N changed the words, making him smile as she brought happiness into the world. “We’re off on an adventure to read out in the sun! Tee dum, tee dee, a teedle ee do tee day…”
Every single time he thought she had given him the best day of his life, she manages to outdo herself.
They barely listened to the story, it was a disaster of epic proportions but they tried. 15 kids is a lot to handle as an ex FBI agent and a librarian, they had lunch and instead ran around the field playing lost boys instead. It was still an amazing afternoon.
He was going to be covered in bruises the next morning. He had been kicked, poked, trampled, jumped on, the whole 9 yards. They were the most energetic bunch in the whole world, and then they came home to ice cream.
“Y/N,” Spencer finally pulled her aside when all the kids were preoccupied with their cold snack after a hot day.
“Yes, cutie?” It was a nickname that was sticking, much like pretty boy, and he didn’t mind it at all.
“We’re going to need more than 2 songs tonight to get her to go to bed,” he teased, stepping into that step-dad role with ease.
She couldn’t stop smiling at him, wrapping him up in her arms gently so he didn’t crush her fairy wings. “We’ll take her swimming, that’ll tire her out instead. Are you lookin’ for some alone time?”
“I love her dearly, but I can’t kiss you as much when she’s around,” he whispered before pecking her quickly and hearing the group of lost boys pretend to be sick.
“Just because he’s my dad doesn’t mean you have to be gross like your mom and dad, mom,” Amoreena’s smart mouth making them both shake their heads and laugh.
“What would you do if I did this?” Y/N teased before dipping Spencer back like a princess and kissing him, he stuck his foot out in shock as she held him there.
“Ewww!!” All the kids yelled as she returned him to his feet.
“Or this?” Y/N pulled him into another kiss, her leg popping like Princess Mia’s in the princess diaries.
Amoreena and her cousins were all screaming then, laughing at how gross their aunt and her new boyfriend were being. Used to it clearly, their grandparents were just as in love and watching from the porch as they held each other on the swing.
“I love you,” Spencer announced, loud enough for all to hear without a care in the world.
“You better,” she smiled. “I love you too, cutie,” she added before kissing him one last time.
His life felt perfectly complete.
Y/N’s brothers were incredibly kind just like her. He learned that Ashley was the oldest with 5 kids and her wife Susie, then Ben who was 46 and his wife Shannon, they had 3 kids. Dylan and Laurie had 4 and Even, her twin brother had 3.
Turns out her mom had 2 sets of twins back to back, 7 children and only 5 pregnancies. It felt crazy for him to think about having that many people in his life for his whole life, he wouldn’t have known what to do with anyone more than just his mother growing up.
Spencer helped Bob with the barbecue, they made burgers and hotdogs for all 16 of the children while they continued to run through the fields. They had enough energy to last them 5 straight days of chaos. It was amazing.
Y/N and Spencer managed to wander off while all the kids ate, sitting under a tree with their dinner so they could finally have some time alone together.
She was beautiful, sitting in the afternoon amber glow as she tried to keep her hair from blowing in her face. Tucking the strands behind her ears so she could eat her dinner in peace before spencer handed her the hair tie on his wrist. Then she got ketchup on her cheek, seemingly on purpose as she smiled at him and laughing as Spencer wiped it off with his thumb. He was so in love he felt stupid, smiling at her like he’s never seen another person before, absolutely enamoured.
“Derek and his wife wanted to come over tomorrow and have his son meet Amoreena if that’s okay?”
Her face lit up, “his son is the one named after you right? Not your godson?”
He nodded with yet another smile, his lips were going to fall off at this point. “Yeah, he’s the sweetest little guy, Hank’s never been to a farm before.”
“You tell them our gates are always own to new minds and pure hearts,” she smiled. “That’s what nanny used to say.”
He leans in and kisses her then, resting his forehead against hers as she held his cheek in her free hand, smiling ever so softly as she stared into his eyes, they didn’t need words, he knew she loved him too. A week of pure bliss had passed within the blink of an eye, and they still had forever to go.
This finally addresses the actual prompt from @perishman, where Maddie crosses a line for Jack in her horrifying research.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
-------------------
“Mads?”
Dressed in his pajamas, Jack peered over the stairs. Maddie hadn’t come up to bed yet.
“Mads, it’s getting late.”
Each stair creaked with his weight as he made his way to the living room. He looked around, but everything was dark.
He stared at the lab door, sighing to himself. She really never took a break.
He gripped the handle to open the door, confused when it stayed shut. Locked? Why had she locked it?
He pulled out his phone and entered her number.
“Jack?” answered Maddie.
“Are you down in the lab?”
“Oh, yes, sorry. I’m just working on something.”
“Something you don’t want me to know about?”
A pause. “No, of course not.”
“Then why is the door locked?”
Another pause. “It’s just to keep Danny and Jazz out, not you.”
“Then why don’t you unlock the door for me?”
A third pause, and this time the call disconnected. Moments later, the lab door opened.
“Hey, sorry about that,” said Maddie, her hood pulled up and goggles covering her eyes.
Jack pushed past her down the stairs. “What are you working on this late at night that you didn’t invite me to join you on?”
“Ah, it’s just something I’ve been working on for a while.”
“What is it?”
“Ah—well—”
Jack scanned Maddie’s workstation. Test tubes of fluid, small dishes of tissue samples, and long strands of red hair.
God, no.
Jack picked up one strand. “Is this Jazz’s hair?”
Maddie pushed her goggles up on her head. “Just listen to me—”
“What are you doing with Jazz’s hair? And are these other samples hers, too?”
“Yes. Let me just—”
“What are you doing with all of these? Because the last time your station looked like this, it was Danny’s samples.”
“Yes, I know.” Maddie gestured to the samples. “I’ve been running all the same tests, seeing how her DNA would handle the same mutation.” She beamed. “And guess what? She’s ready for it! Her body would accept it now.”
“What? What are you talking about? You said before Danny was the only candidate.”
“Well, he was, but—”
“What do you mean, she’s ready? Like she wasn’t ready before but she is now?”
“Yes!” cried Maddie. “When I tested her samples before, her DNA rejected the mutation, but not anymore! Now she can take it.”
“Why?” Jack set Jazz’s hair down. “What changed?”
Maddie adjusted the goggles on her head, suddenly not looking at him at all.
“Maddie.” Jack scowled at her. “What did you do?”
Maddie chewed her bottom lip. “Look, I only didn’t tell you because I knew you wouldn’t go for it.”
“Wouldn’t go for what? Didn’t tell me what?”
“This is the next step in our research, Jack! We’ve come so far with Danny, and he’s done so well with it. And this will have all of the health and vitality benefits for Jazz too—”
“What did you do to Jazz, Maddie?”
Jack’s voice was loud, booming. Maddie’s hand reached to her neck, her fingers kneading into the collar of her jumpsuit.
“She’s been injected with nanobots and was exposed to high levels of ecto-radiation when she wore the Ecto-Skeleton,” said Maddie. “So her vitals can be controlled so she can survive the shock. And her body has been infused with ectoplasmic properties from the Ecto-Skeleton, allowing her to accept the spectral mutation.”
Jack stared at her. “What?”
“Bloodstream nanobots. They can—”
“I know what they do. How and when were they injected into Jazz?”
Maddie looked off to the side. “Remember when Jazz ran off to Vlad’s mansion in Wisconsin? When she was having that fight with Danny about how she was getting in the way of his ghost fighting?”
Jack eyed her warily. “Yeah, I remember that.”
“Well. Vlad had modified our Ecto-Skeleton so that it no longer kills the wearer. And he had also managed to get his hands on a supply of nanobots. So I just asked him to—”
“What?” snapped Jack. “What the hell did you ask him to do?”
Maddie held up her palms. “I was curious to see what Danny would do if his sister somehow became an enemy for him. And then the nanobots, well, remember when I theorized a few years ago that we could perhaps keep a candidate alive during the mutation process if we could control their vitals using bloodstream nanobots?”
“Yes, and I agreed with you,” said Jack. “Back when I thought we were going to be finding a willing participant.”
“Danny didn’t need the nanobots to survive, which made him perfect,” said Maddie. “But Jazz needed more help than that. So I asked Vlad—”
“Vlad was really in on this, too?”
“—to inject her with the nanobots and then put her in the Ecto-Skeleton—”
“No, you didn’t.” Jack glared at her. “You didn’t do that without telling me. Without asking me.”
“Now see, this is why I didn’t tell you, because I knew you’d never go for it.”
“Of course not. Because it’s insane. And it’s our daughter.”
“But don’t you see, Jack? We can prove that anyone can become half ghost with the proper preparation! We can mutate and transform Jazz in the same way we did Danny—”
“No!” shouted Jack. “We are not doing this to Jazz.”
“But—”
“No. This is not up for debate. It’s not happening.”
Maddie’s eyes hardened, her lips pursed. “This is our work, Jack. This is our life’s work. This is everything we’ve been pursuing for over twenty years now.”
“I don’t care. Find someone else to test this out on.”
“But Jazz’s body has already been prepped. It would be expensive to prepare someone else.”
“I don’t care,” screamed Jack. “I don’t give a fuck that you’ve already done all this work to get her ready for a mutation behind my back. I’m not going to let you do it, Maddie.”
Maddie crossed her arms and looked over at the portal.
“And if you do anything to her, I will turn both of us in,” said Jack. “I’ll tell the police everything we’ve been doing. Everything we’ve done to Danny.”
Maddie’s jaw dropped. “What? You can’t!”
“Believe me, I don’t want to. But doing this to Jazz is going too far.”
“Do you even realize—”
“I do. I definitely realize how bad it would be for both of us. How long we’d be locked away. How our kids would be parentless.”
Jack looked up at the ceiling and imagined both of his children sleeping in their beds.
“But I’m sure even they’d agree no parents are better than parents who use them as research subjects,” said Jack more quietly.
Maddie’s face flushed with intense heat. “You can’t do this to us now, Jack.”
“I let you get away with far too much with Danny. I’m not letting you do the same to Jazz.”
Jack stomped past her toward the stairs, his chest and limbs flooding with angry adrenaline.
“Really?” Maddie called after him. “You didn’t fight me at all when it was Danny, but now you’re threatening me when it’s Jazz?”
Jack gripped the stair rail and turned back to her. Her face was still red.
“I should’ve known.” Maddie’s tone was dark. “Jazz always was your favorite.”
“And Danny was always yours,” said Jack. “And if you can do what you’ve done to him, then I’d hate to see what you could do to a child you don’t love as much.”
He did not look at her face again as he climbed the stairs out of the lab.
Anonymous request: Imagine doing a couples’ costume with Eddie and seeing how long it takes the team to notice.
“What about Magneto and Professor X?” You suggested, thinking about Christopher’s Wolverine costume.
“No, cause that just means one of us is in a suit.”
“Vampire and werewolf?”
“Do you want to put on fake fur?”
“Look, I’m trying here. What have you got?”
Eddie leaned back. He didn’t actually have any better ones. He just wanted the two of you to look cool.
“I know you don’t want to Mario and Luigi so I won’t even bother there.”
“Good.” Eddie chuckled. He had kind of liked the superhero idea, but he wasn’t sure he could think of a better one. Batman and Robin was too common and he didn’t want either of you to feel like a sidekick.
“Oh!” You exclaimed. “I’ve got the perfect one!”
When you told Eddie the idea, he had to agree it was pretty clever. You picked roles and set about getting prepared for the evening. Chris liked the costumes but went his own way, opting for a pirate costume this year.
Bobby and Athena were hosting and since the two of you hadn’t disclosed your relationship yet, you arrived separately. Yes, by wearing a paired costume it was possible people would figure you two out but you had decided you both were ready.
“Hey [Y/N],” Athena welcomed you, “a cowboy huh?”
“Ma’am,” you drawled with a smile and tipped your hat, “thank ya for havin’ me in your home.”
Athena chuckled and ushered you in. Seeing lots of familiar faces already there, you approached Hen and Karen, who were also dressed up together and you complimented their costumes.
“Are you the Lone Ranger then?” Karen asked. You blushed and shook your head.
“Ooh. Who’s the lucky one?”
“I guess you’ll have to figure it out.” You replied, moving on to get some food.
You loitered and chatted some with Bobby, glancing to the door occasionally until soon enough Eddie was walking through the door with Christopher. Christopher was very proud of his costume and was proudly waving a cutlass. Eddie, meanwhile, looked quite regal in his armor and red cape, a sword of his own hanging at his side.
“So we have a pirate and a centurion?” Athena asked, trying to appraise Eddie’s attire.
“Close enough. Roman general.” He said. Christopher made a beeline for Buck and Eddie checked in with Chimney and Maddie.
As the night wore on, no one seemed to be picking up on your costumes. Finally, one of the games gave you the perfect opportunity to give a significant clue to your identities.
You were partnered up for a game involving wrapping one partner in toilet paper to look like a mummy. Eddie was being wrapped and suffice to say you were struggling to get it to stay wrapped. Several other pairs were doing noticeably better, especially Chim and Maddie.
“[Y/N], give it up. We’re not winning this.” Eddie said as your most recent attempt slid down from his shoulders to the ground.
“I ain’t quittin’ you!” You exclaimed, redoubling your efforts to make this challenge work.
“Oh my god!” Maddie exclaimed, trying hard not to shake loose the paper Chim had gotten wrapped around her.
Heads turned from you to her as she started laughing.
“You guys are way to clever.” She said. The timer beeped, ending the game and it was clear that she and Chim had one. In a couple stretches and shakes, she got the TP off while everyone still tried to figure out what she had realized.
“I thought that line would get someone.” You confessed and Maddie nodded.
Seeing now a couple more faces of realization from the kids and Chimney, Maddie looked at you for permission to explain.
“Night at the Museum?” She suggested.
“Eddie and I are Octavius and Jed.” You clarified. Now you got more ‘oh’s and looks of understanding.
“That’s clever.” Bobby smiled.
“Wait if you two planned your costume together, does that mean-?” Buck was asking.
“Yeah. [Y/N] and I are dating.”
So, I deleted what I posted last of the first chapter of my Rederina fic as it didn’t feel right, the characters didn’t feel Authentic. I re-wrote and I feel much better about this version so I thought I would share.
For Elizabeth Keen it has been a long few days, a long few weeks, but as she stares at a beautiful piece of art, with the man she knows as Raymond Reddington sitting next to her, some of the stress, and pain, of the last few weeks steps away; while her desire for answers remains all to noticeable.
“It really is exquisite, in it’s way,” Reddington says, putting the casket into it’s own little bag, and Liz can’t help but role her eyes.
“It’s exquisite because of what you know about it, where it came from, who made it, it’s intellectual, I prefer art that’s more emotional,” Liz says, there being a double meaning to her words.
“The forger certainly played on our emotions,” Reddington comments, and Liz realizes that this is the opportunity she has been waiting for, but she has no idea if she is going to take Ressler’s advice.
“The forger, the one you found but won’t turn over to us,” Liz comments.
“The counterfeits are nearly flawless, which is enough,” Reddington comments. “Because our desire for them to be real obscures any imperfection,” Reddington says. “Much like your desire for the women in Paris to be your mother blinded you to the fact that she wasn’t,” Reddington says as he needs Liz to understand, to know, that the women she believed was Katarina wasn’t.
“It wasn’t just my desire,” Liz comments.
“So, she told you she was Katarina,” Reddington says, being both glad to know exactly what Tatiana told Liz, and also extremely worried as he knows what it could lead to.
“She did, and its difficult for me to believe she wasn’t because while I don’t understand everything it made sense, everything she said,” Liz comments, wanting to give Reddington one more chance to tell her the truth she is so desperate for before she does what she has to do if he doesn’t.
“Elizabeth, she wasn’t your mother,” Reddington says, needing her to believe that, and Liz can’t help but be annoyed by the fact that his voice is completely calm.
“How are you so sure?” Liz asks, an edge to her voice and realizing that she has nothing to lose Liz decides to be honest because maybe, just maybe, if she is honest with Reddington then he will be honest with her and finally tell her the truth she so desperately desires. “Because I know you’re not Ilya Koslov, or the real Raymond Reddington,” Liz says, revealing what Reddington desperately hoped she didn’t know. “So who are you to her that allows you to know the truth no one else does?” Liz asks as it doesn’t make sense to her. “Who are you to my family that causes my grandfather to lie to ME about who you are?” Liz asks, her voice becoming more angry and more upset.
“Elizabeth…” Reddington starts to say, using the tone which tells Elizabeth he isn’t going to tell her anything.
“No…. I’m done,” Elizabeth says, surprising herself with her words and causing Dembe to look at Reddington through the rear view mirror. “Seven years ago, you walked into my life and offered me crumbs and nothing but vague answers about who you are and I’m sick of it,” Liz admits, while she is surprised by her own words it doesn’t make them any less true.
“You don’t know what these questions will lead to, you cannot imagine the danger you, and Agnes will be in if the wrong people learn the truth,” Reddington says to Liz as he needs her to see that everything he is doing is for her protection.
“That’s my point, so many people have been killed and hurt,” Liz says annoyed, with pain in her voice. “I don’t want the truth because just because I’m curious I want to know so I know what I’m, what we’re, up against,” Liz explains.
“I can protect you,” Reddington tells Liz as that is what he has spent the last thirty years making sure of.
“We both know that’s not always true,” Liz tells Reddington. “I care about you, even without knowing who you are you are family to me, and I love having you in my life, but I can’t handle the lies and secrets anymore; I don’t want them, and I don’t want them around Agnes,” Liz admits. “I let Maddy Toliver get close to my daughter, and if she’s not my mother then I put Agnes in incredible daughter because I didn’t know the truth, isn’t that exactly what you want to protect me and Agnes from?” Liz says, trying to use Reddington’s own logic to realize just what his secrets are doing.
“Elizabeth…” Reddington says, once more trying to get Liz to understand that he keeps the secrets he keeps for a reason.
“I know you say it’s dangerous, but doesn’t everything that just happened prove that those dangers are already here?” Liz asks, making an extremely good point not that Reddington wants to admit that. “I can’t protect myself, or my daughter, if I continue to be in the dark,” Liz says, bringing up Agnes partly because she knows that, despite everything, Reddington does care about her. “Ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s not protection,” Liz says. “So, I am asking, begging for the truth, or this... you being in my life, is done,” Liz reveals, not realizing how much her words hurt, while Dembe wishes he could tell the truth Reddington refuses to. “That’s something I really don’t want, but I will if I have to,” Liz admits. “I will say goodbye to you, and the taskforce to find out the answers to the questions you refuse to answer, no matter where they take me,” Liz admits, as she realizes that she can’t just wait for someone to tell her the truth anymore, she has to find it herself.
“Elizabeth, when I say you cannot comprehend the danger the truth will bring I mean it, you go down that path and it only ends one way,” Reddington reveals. “I have the spent the last thirty years doing everything to make sure that does not happen,” Reddington explains.
“Why? Explain it to me so I don’t have to find answers on my own, so I don’t go down that path, so that I don’t bring that danger down on us,” Liz requests, deciding that this is Reddington’s last chance to tell her the truth, if he doesn’t she will do whatever she has to do to find answers on her own. “Why are we in danger? how are you so sure that the women from Paris, Maddy Toliver, isn’t my mother? How do you know she’s not Katarina Rostova?” Liz asks, and as he looks at her face Reddington realizes that Liz is serious about what she is saying, and that this one moment could undo everything he spent thirty years doing. So, against every single one of his instincts Reddington knows there is only one thing he can do; even if it’s the last thing he wants.
“Because I am,” Reddington says, saying the words he never intended to say.
For the last seven years Elizabeth has considered many possibilities about who Reddington is, but as he finally gives her the answer she has wanted for so long it’s not one she ever considered, and is certainly not one she was ready for.
“What? No…. it can’t be,” Liz says, having no idea what to believe as logically it makes more sense for Maddy Toliver to be her mother, but at the same time it also makes perfect sense.
“It is,” Reddington says, realizing that Liz is so shocked that she is not truly reacting to what he is saying, not comprehending it. While he is unsure that it is a good idea Reddington knows there is something he can say to help Liz believe the truth. “When you were a child, before the fire, we were at the Summer Palace, we were in the garden. I told you to bring me some treasures, I was digging the hole when you ran up towards me,” Reddington explains. “I said, ‘There you are, did you bring some treasures? Oh, these are beautiful, this is a time machine, one day you will come back here, open it, and remember me,’” Reddington says, switching to Russian as he speaks the words he said all those years ago as he hopes that, even with a lot of Liz’s memories being removed, that it will be enough to remind Liz of something only the two of them know.
“I remember that… remember my mother saying that to me,” Liz says, tears coming to her eyes as she never told anyone what she remembered, as she searches for her mother’s face in Reddington’s.  “How… Dom said…” Liz starts to say, trying to make sense of everything.
“What he wanted you to believe,” Reddington reveals. “Most of what Dom told you was the truth, except when it came to my identity,” Reddington explains. “He told you want he wishes was real, he could never fully accept the truth,” Reddington admits, admitting what is painful for him. “He told you that I was Ilya rather than the truth that the daughter he… so dearly loved, but could never full accept, changed everything about herself,” Reddington explains.
“I don’t understand, how? Why? How would you do it? Why would you do it?” Elizabeth asks, as she needs to understand what is going on and she just can’t make it make sense, can’t make her mind work to put the pieces together.
“It’s a long story,” Reddington admits. “One full of ambition and hope, love, and loss,” Reddington explains. “And I will tell you the whole thing when you’re ready to hear it,” Reddington tells Liz, as he can see that she is becoming overwhelmed, who once more feels anger rise up inside of her.
“I think we both know that I am beyond ready to hear it,” Liz tells Reddington.
“You’re not as ready as you think,” Reddington admits as that he can see. “I can see it in your eyes, you’re not sure if you can believe what I’m saying, and I understand that,” Reddington reveals.  “When you’re ready to listen and have an open mind I will tell you everything,” Reddington says as he knows that now that he has told Elizabeth his identity, he needs to tell her everything, but he also knows that he cannot do so before Elizabeth is ready to truly listen to everything he needs to say.
“When? When do you think I will be ready?” Liz asks, as she feels that she is ready now, but she also can’t deny that it is a lot to comprehend.
“That’s up to you,” Reddington admits, and Liz can’t help but roll her eyes. “I have some business to attend to for the next few days, but I’ll be back in time for Agnes’s performance,” Reddington reveals.
“You’re coming?” Liz asks, not even surprised that he knows about it.
“I wouldn’t miss it,” Reddington assures Liz. “Elizabeth, even if you don’t see me I will be there, and we can talk when you’re ready to put aside everything you think you know and listen to the truth; listen to my story,” Reddington explains, as Dembe stops the car outside of Elizabeth’s apartment.
“I can do that,” Liz says as she isn’t overly sure she knows anything anymore. “But I need you to promise me something,” Liz admits. “Promise me that you won’t just disappear into the shadows, promise me that when I come to you ready to hear the truth you will give it to me, no more talk about danger and protection,” Liz requests.
“I can’t talk about one without the others,” Reddington admits. “But I promise Elizabeth, I will not disappear, I will tell you everything,” Reddington says, meaning his words completely, and to his surprise Liz reaches over and puts her hand over his hands, and even though it is just for a few fleeting seconds it means a lot to Reddington.
“Have a safe trip,” Liz says to Reddington. “Both of you,” Elizabeth says, looking at Dembe.
“Thank you, Elizabeth,” Dembe responds and Elizabeth gets out the car.
As Liz gets out the car, she feels unsteady on her feet. For so long she has been wanting the truth about who Reddington is and now that she’s gotten it there is a part of her that isn’t sure she can believe it, but at the same time there is a part of her that desperately wants to. While she is uncertain about so many things, in this moment as she stands on the side walk, Liz is sure of one thing, and one thing only, and that’s that she wants to see her daughter.
“You did the right thing,” Dembe says as he and Reddington watch as Elizabeth finally walks inside.
“Did I? To protect Elizabeth I may have just put her in the crosshairs,” Reddington comments, doubting if he made the right decision.
“Raymond we both know she was already in the crosshairs, now that she knows the truth she can prepare,” Dembe points out.
“We should go,” Reddington says as he isn’t sure he wants to talk about this right now, even with Dembe. “We have a plane to catch,” Reddington says as he stares out the window and Dembe pulls away from the curb.
So, I don’t know if you’ve heard this already, but apparently the original plan was for Maddie to be Eddie’s love interest, but JLH shut that down and was like “no, I want to be Chimney’s girlfriend instead.” Can you imagine how different things would have been?!?
@toughpaperround actually did mention that to me and honestly? THANK FUCKING GOD FOR MISS HEWITT SHE IS A WOMAN OF REFINED TASTE WHO CAN RECOGNIZE A DELECTABLE MAN WHEN SHE SEES ONE I OWE HER MY LIFE
not that eddie isn't a delectable man as well, i mean, y'all see me being embarrassing as hell over him, but i feel like chimney is one of those character that can be criminally underrated sometimes, even if he is SO GOOD, so im just incredibly happy that she appreciated him and that the writers or the producers or whoever listened to her on this
i also think that chimney is a perfect choice for maddie, they work really well together, the chemistry is impeccable, and one of you (im very sorry i can't remember who exactly) actually told me that their relationship is all about finally realizing what they deserve and being themselves, which does make perfect sense
now that i've seen them together i actually can't imagine how things would have gone if they had followed through with their original plan, it's just.. weird to think about eddie and maddie together, and idk if they would have worked well tbh
for Maddie and London who's more physically affectionate, whats one way their personalities compliment each other, and what would their perfect date be like :)
Okay, first, thank you so much for sending me this because I’m obsessed with them and this gave me so much serotonin 🥺💕 but also, I’m sorry it took me literally two days to answer it lasdjfk I have a really bad habit of taking a entire week or more to answer asks from ask games cause I get lazy really fast 😬
OTP Questions
who's more physically affectionate?
Okay. I didn’t intend for this to be the tiniest bit angsty, but. I feel like, at least at first, probably London? Like, I don’t want to make it sound like London doesn’t have anyone (Especially since they made it pretty clear in SLOZAC that the Boston employees treated her like a member of their own, and Moseby is literally her Dad, I’ll die on that hill, and I would never disrespect everything he did for her by saying she has no one) But just. She lived in that Suite by herself, we never even see her actual father until one of the very last episodes of On Deck (and you cannot tell me he was giving her hugs in those few times a year he’d bother to visit her like. In SLOZAC he wouldn’t even let his security guards part so she could see his face), and we know her Mom is gone, and outside of the maternal grandmother we met in the Thailand episode of On Deck, they never really told us that she had any other relatives to speak of (or, ones that cared anyway). So, my really long-winded point is that I can imagine that London might be a little touch-starved?
So I could see London being the more physically affectionate one in the beginning, just to make up for the lack of affection she received growing up, but then when they get older and they’ve been together for years and it’s clear to London that they’re pretty much in this for the long haul and that affection she’s been receiving isn’t suddenly going to disappear one day,,, I can see it sort of balancing out. And then it just sort of becomes whatever mood they’re in that day.
whats one way their personalities compliment each other?
I feel like the show really did a great job of showing us how they complimented each other, which, I think, is why a lot of us now are like “they’re soulmates” (or maybe when it was airing if you were enlightened, unlike me laksjdf) Like, idk, they really just. They were so good at bringing out the best in each other (like the Christmas episode, which drives me insane in the best way, when London literally handmakes a sweater for Maddie. Like, you cannot tell me that London would go to THAT amount of effort for anyone else, except Moseby. And I know Maddie was a little selfish about it at first but she finally realized how hard London worked on it and she learned to treasure it) But they were also really great about being there for each other when they weren’t at their best (like, when Maddie helped London realize that she had a tendency to spend exuberant amounts of money when she was upset, and helping her realize that she just needed to find alternative outlets for her frustrations) (OR when Maddie was literally the only person that stood by London when she lost her fortune).
I feel like I’m not really answering the question alsdjkf but honestly I just don’t know how because I feel like the show itself already did a perfect job of showing us how they complimented each other in ways that made them perfect for each other 🤷🏻‍♀️
what would their perfect date be like?
I feel like they probably have wildly different definitions of the perfect date alsdkjf At least when they go out, so it ends up having to be a compromise a lot of the times. Like Maddie saying “I’ll do this red carpet with you, but that means you have to see this arthouse movie with me next week” “Is this one I have to read?” “Unless you know French, yes” (although, Iike to HC that London knows some French, considering she jets off to Paris all the time)(also like to HC that Zack forced her into teaching him a few key phrases he can use to flirt with girls)(really found a way to shoehorn him into a discussion that has fuck all to do with him, huh aslkdjf good for me, honestly)
But, we’re talking about perfect dates here.
Honestly, a perfect date for them (at least in my head) is a night in, where they order room service or take-out, and they’re in comfy (but cute; it’s still a date after all alskdj) pajamas and Maddie is showing London those bad teen movies from the late 90s/early 2000s that would’ve been a staple of her childhood, and definitely ones that would’ve been shown at any sleepovers Maddie would’ve attended in her childhood. Like, that just seems perfect to me because they're alone so London doesn't have to put on the " heiress London Tipton" facade and can just be herself, and she's getting to experience something she always wanted to but never got a chance to growing up. And on Maddie's side,,, sure, she's in a fancier suite than she'd probably ever experience in her lifetime had she not known the literal heir to the Tipton fortune, but she's been it so many times now she's learned to be comfortable in it, and this isn't a situation where she has to be wear a fancy dress she can't afford, or be around a bunch of rich snobs that drive her insane alsdjf And she also gets to be with the London she really cares for (as in, not It Girl London Tipton, or heiress London but just. London)
Will you be my Valentine?
Summary: Everyone knows that Evan Buckley is not a fan of Valentine's Day, but with the help of his buddy Christopher, Buck has a change of heart.
A/N: Happy Valentine's Day to all the Buddie fans out there! This fluffy fic is for all of you. ♥
Read on ao3
***
It had been an ordinary day; nothing special, nothing unique as the team sat upstairs watching TV on a day that might've been a holiday. The one that Hallmark makes bank from. Yeah, Valentine's Day. Again, nothing special. And no, Buck wasn't bitter about it.
He had recently tried to get back in the field, the dating field, and it had been explosive...not in a good way. The kind where someone screamed, "Bomb!" and you went running in the other direction.
Not good.
Buck had recollected for days why on earth it had been such a disaster. The date itself hadn't gone poorly, but he realized he hadn't been ready. Dealing with himself and family drama was one thing, but his heart had felt icy.
However, as he saw Eddie walk into the room, he knew that wasn't exactly true, especially when Buck felt like he was melting.
See, this man had become the axis to every point on Buck’s scattered map of a life.
Buck wanted to ignore the feelings knowing damn well his best friend would never see him in that light, but the emotions were something he could never entirely ignore. The truth of the matter was this: Buck had had these feelings for Eddie Diaz for as long as he could remember, and it took almost dying in the building, talking to his therapist, a comment by firefighter TK, and going on a date for them to surface to realization.
What was a single, not so straight, firefighter to do in this situation?
Instead of figuring out that million-dollar question, he shot a shit-eating grin towards the guy, unable to control it even if he had wanted to, "Hey there, Eddie, you sure look chipper today."
"Well, of course," Eddie replied as he fixed his suspenders, not that Buck was looking, "it's Valentine's Day!"
Buck's eyes narrowed, "Since when did you become such a fan of this gruesome holiday?"
Hen glared at Buck and then smiled at Eddie, "Ooo! Are things going that well with Ana?"
Great. The question Buck really didn't want to have asked by the guy. Could they just not go there? Because honestly, that was another reason Buck had decided to go on a damn date in the first place.
After he had found out Eddie had felt a spark or whatever Chimney had told him after their encounter with Christopher's former teacher, Eddie had asked her out. Not that Buck had been jealous or anything, but he had decided maybe he too should get out and see what fishies were still swimming in the waters, even during a pandemic.
It had nothing to do with jealousy. Not in the slightest.
Buck realized while being lost in his thoughts that he hadn't heard Eddie's reply. Buck looked up at that ruggedly handsome man and waited for the response that would probably slice him into tiny pieces.
Eddie cleared his throat, "Um no. That didn't work out." When Hen and Chimney started to say, "aww..." Eddie shook his head, "No, no, it's fine. Truly. Miss Flores is a wonderful woman, just not the one for me." Buck's heart started fluttering in his chest, and was he mistaken in noticing that Eddie looked right towards him when he had said, not the one for me?
Was this Buck's hopeful heart playing games with him? Cue the Backstreet Boys: Quit Playing Games with my Heart.
"So then enlighten us, firefighter Diaz, why so cheerful on this day?" Chimney asked. "I mean, I have a wonderful love of my life and a baby on the way, but you don't see me jumping for joy because it's Valentine's Day."
"Which is a surprise," Hen replied, raising an eyebrow. "What's wrong with you, Chim?"
"Nothing! I just think this holiday is a corporate holiday that makes singles feel bad about themselves. Then the chocolate and card company make a fortune," Chimney responded, rubbing his head, "I believe love, true love, should be shown for 365 days."
Hen patted his back, "You're a good one, my friend. I'll give you that. Maddie is lucky to have you."
"Karen, too," Chimney said with a smile, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Okay, as much as I love what's happening with this bromance here, can we get back to the matter at hands, aka Eddie, and why he's so cheerful on this most hollow of days?" Buck exclaimed, rolling his eyes.
"Yes, yes," Chimney acknowledged, "do carry on, Edmundo."
"Right," Eddie smirked, "Well, Christopher wanted it to be a surprise, but he made each of you a special Valentine last night. He got so creative. Our house looked like what I can only imagine the inside of Hallmark cards to look." He shook his head, smiling again, "Chris has been working hard on handwriting, building that strength in his hand and all. So he's bringing them by soon."
Buck's heart filled with so much joy he stood up quickly, "Seriously? Why didn't you say so sooner? Oh, my little buddy! That's too sweet."
"Yeah, so he should be around soon," Eddie looked around and frowned. "However, it's not decorated around here. Usually, Cap' goes all out."
Hen just shrugged sheepishly, "He and Athena took a few days off to be all lovey-dovey with each other."
"Okay, okay," Buck said, pretending to gag, "that's like my father you're talking about—let's not get into the details about their love life."
"I'm just saying that Cap' is usually the one who organizes the decorations," Hen replied, waving her hands. "You've seen how he goes all out for other holidays."
"Well, all I know is that Chris will be mildly disappointed when he sees it," Eddie sighed. "I'm going to run out and get some balloons and maybe some desserts real quick."
"I'll go with you," Buck instantly said. When all eyes went on him, he just smiled, "What, I can adapt to the holiday, okay?" They all knew he hated Valentine's Day, so Buck just laughed. "Well, if it's for my favorite little buddy, I can adapt. How about that?"
Everyone joined in, and Eddie nodded, giving Buck one of those rare smiles of his, "C'mon then, Buck. Let's try our best, but probably sad attempt, to make it lovey-dovey in here."
With Eddie smiling at him that way, that wouldn't be too hard to manage.
After two bags of decorations, treats, and an armful of heart balloons, Buck and Eddie made their way back to the station. They were laughing about this-and-that, as they always did, but Buck could feel the air around them changing. But perhaps Buck was the one who had changed, not them.
As Eddie drove, Buck couldn't help but look at his best friend's beautiful features; it took his breath away, not for the first time, nor would it be the last.
"So, I'm sorry it didn't work out with the teacher," Buck said, unable to stop the words from coming out of his mouth.
"What do you have to be sorry about?"
"Isn't that what people say when something goes wrong?" Buck shrugged, feeling slightly stupid.
"Nah, man, it's cool. Nothing went wrong," Eddie looked over at Buck. "But like I said back at the 118, she wasn't the one."
Buck took a deep breath, "I just know you felt a spark for her and all..." Why was he pushing this further? Did he want to stab his own heart?
"Yeah, I think I was mistaken about who I was feeling that spark for..."
Eddie was smiling at him and then looked back at the road.
Okay, was this all in Buck's mind, or was Eddie talking about him?
"Besides, I heard your date didn't go too well," Eddie smirked as he gripped the wheel. "So should I be saying sorry?"
"You could say that, but nah, I'm not sorry about it," Buck replied, rolling his eyes. "Guess I'm not ready to get back out there. Not in the way I used to be." Because now all he wanted was his best friend—he was ready for that, Buck knew it. Eddie was different. He wasn't like anyone else. In some ways, in most, Eddie was Buck's other half. And as cheesy as it sounded, he completed Buck.
"Oh." The way Eddie had said the word turned Buck's head in his direction. Eddie looked slightly disappointed. "Well," Eddie added, clearing his throat, "you need to do what's best for you."
You're what's best for me, Buck thought, wanting to scream from the rooftops. After all, Buck had promised his therapist he wouldn't hide his feelings away, and the last thing he wanted to do was hide from Eddie. Still, fear of ruining their relationship held him back.
The outcome was like a box of chocolates, and to quote Forrest Gump, "You never know what you're gonna get."
After some decorating by the 118, Carla and Christopher finally made their way to the station.
Buck, luckily being in the Diaz family bubble, was able to give Chris a big hug. "Hey, buddy!"
"Happy Valentine's Day, Buck!" Chris said with a wide grin full of braces. Buck still couldn't believe how big the kid had gotten; he wanted to slow time down. "It looks perfect in here!"
"Very beautiful and festive," Carla said, blowing a kiss towards Buck and the others. "You all did well!"
Eddie smiled at Buck and nodded in appreciation.
"Looks a bit like a Pepto Bismo explosion," Chimney muttered, which brought laughter all around.
"You know you love it," Buck said as he put an arm around Chimney.
Chimney grinned, "You're right. I do. Just don't tell Maddie."
"The secret is safe with me." Chimney's eyes widened at the word secret, "Relax, Chim. No more secrets for you to keep." His friend blew out the breath he had been holding.
"Anyway," Eddie said, with a shake of his head, "Chris, why don't you show them why you came down here."
"Okay, dad," Christopher said, reaching into a large decorated Valentine's bag. "I brought you each a special Valentine." As everyone said a collective, "Awee," in response, Christopher looked pleased, which was all they wanted in the first place.
Christopher made his way to each person. Buck was last. Everyone was now talking and eating treats, so Buck took Christopher over to where it was a bit quieter.
"You're last because you're my favorite," Chris said, warming Buck's heart up, not for the first time.
"You're my favorite, too, buddy. Thank you!"
"Here's your Valentine," the little boy said, handing Buck a big pink, purple, and blue, wobbly-shaped heart. It was perfect.
Buck kneeled and opened it up and read, "To my Buck. I love you so much. You're my best friend in the whole wide world. Happy Valentine's Day! Love, Christopher."
This message meant the world to Buck, more than the kid would ever understand. Blinking away tears, Buck smiled, "Thank you, Christopher. I love it, and you." He looked down at the picture. "Tell me who's in the drawing here."
"Oh, that's you, me, and daddy, of course." He looked up and grinned at Buck, "My family."
In the drawing, they were all holding hands with a giant colorful heart above them. This drawing touched Buck in another way. They were his family, too—the one he had created. After all the crap with Buck's own family recently, this was the family that mattered. They were more real to him than his biological family would ever be.
There was also the fact he was in love with his best friend, but he would save those thoughts for himself. But his heart would always remain theirs and theirs alone, just like the picture captured.
"This means so much to me, Chris. Thank you."
"One more for you," the little boy added, reaching into his bag.
"Oh? From who?"
"From dad, even though it's a secret."
Buck's eyes widened as Christopher handed him another Valentine.
"Dad was showing me how to cut out the hearts, and then I told him he should make one," Christopher said. "He had already given me my Valentine, so I told him to make it for someone else that he loves, someone who's very special to him. So he made it for you."
Buck swallowed, and his hands began trembling as he held it. "Does he know you're giving it to me?"
Christopher shook his head, "Nope! But Valentine's is a time to spread love, so that's what I'm doing." He looked over at the celebration, "Why you look at it, I'm going to join the party, okay?"
"Ah, yeah," Buck said, lost in thought. "Go for it, kid! I can see a cupcake that's calling your name!"
As Christopher hurried over to the sweets, Buck sat there by himself, looking at the heart in his hand. Finally, he opened the Valentine, and with a deep breath, Buck read:
Dear Buck,
Happy Valentine's Day! I know you don't care for this holiday any more than I do, but I'm sitting here with Chris while he makes his Valentine's and he told me to write it to someone special in my life. Well, you're someone special, you always have been. I wanted to say thank you for all that you do for us. You're not just my best friend; you're so much more. You are our family. We love you. Also, thank you for being an anchor in my life and never, ever giving up. I admire you more than you'll ever know.
With love always,
Eddie
Buck didn't realize he was crying until he saw a droplet fall onto the Valentine. In one hand, he had Christopher's card, and in the other, Eddie's. Both their hearts in his two hands.
Quickly wiping his eyes, Buck stood up and looked over at his best friend and the focal point of his life.
Eddie was holding Christopher, and his son was smashing a cupcake into his face. Everyone was laughing and clapping, clearly enjoying the moment. Buck couldn't help but smile, too.
And right when Buck felt that immense love for the guy, Eddie glanced over at him and beamed. It was the smile that took your breath away.
Eddie took his breath away, always, and Buck wouldn't have it any other way.
***
Buck didn't know what he was doing, but hours upon hours staring at Eddie's Valentine brought him to the Diaz doorstep.
Before his nerves took him running in the other direction, Buck knocked lightly on the door.
Eddie opened the door wearing a green hoodie and black workout pants, his hair wet and tousled. He looked so beautiful that Buck's brain went on overload, short-circuiting out completely.
"Hey Buck, I wasn't expecting you tonight," Eddie said in surprise but still looking happy.
"Yeah, sorry, it's kinda late. I just wanted to say thank you for the Valentine."
Eddie frowned slightly, "What Valentine?" Buck held up the paper heart that Christopher had given him, and Eddie's eyes widened, "Oh, that one. Chris gave it to you?"
"He sure did," Buck said, and trying to lighten the mood, "I'm guessing you were waiting for that perfect opportunity to give it to me?"
Eddie smiled softly, "Well, yeah..."
"Who knew you felt this way for me?" Buck smirked, but he felt his heartbeat quicken in his chest when Eddie didn't add anything further. He swallowed before asking, aka jumping off the ledge, "Do you feel this way for me?"
Biting his lip, Eddie said, "Remember how I said I felt a spark, but it wasn't for Ana?"
Yes, Buck remembered; he couldn't get the thought off his mind. "Yes."
"Well, I realized the spark I felt was for someone else," Eddie breathed out in a whisper. He then looked up to meet Buck's gaze, "You."
"You feel it with me?"
Eddie nodded, "Yeah, Buck, I do, every day." He ran a hand through his hair nervously, "I've known it for a while, I just didn't realize I was ready to move forward. However, a talk with Bobby helped me a lot. But then I also didn't think you were ready to date, let alone with a guy...me, so I tried with someone else, and it went exactly as I thought it would, nowhere."
Buck took a step closer on the porch towards Eddie, "Well, I'm not ready to date just anybody. But you're not anybody, Eddie."
"So...you feel the same?"
Nodding with a smile, Buck said, "Yes, I do." Then he admitted the truth, "I got jealous when you went on a date with Miss Flores, and I didn't understand why. It pushed me to try and date some random, but the whole time I wanted to be with you."
"I wish you would've told me that—I would have never agreed on a date with her."
Buck trembled, "I'm working on not hiding my feelings, but this is huge. I mean, how do you tell your best friend you're in love with him?" The declaration had come before even Buck had realized.
"You're in love with me?"
"I am, yes."
"Am I the first guy you've..."
"Felt this towards?" Buck asked. Eddie nodded. "Yes, that would be a yes. I didn't even realize...."
"That's okay, Buck, it's more than okay," Eddie smiled reassuringly, taking Buck's hands into his own, supporting him. "I realized it too, with you. You helped me through an awakening of my own, and I don't want to look back."
Buck felt as if he were floating, "Really?"
"Yes, Evan. I'm in love with you, too."
"So, where do we go from here?" Buck asked, holding on tightly to Eddie's hands, never wanting to let go.
"How about we start with the obvious," Eddie responded, gazing into Buck's eyes. "Evan Buckley, will you be my Valentine?"
Buck laughed, but his heart felt warm and light, "Yes, Eddie Diaz, I'll be your Valentine."
And as they sealed the first moments of their future together with a kiss, Buck realized Valentine's Day wasn't so bad after all.
