Even decades after Bobby Bowden retired from coaching the hometown Seminoles, Black boys in Tallahassee are growing up quickly. At 16, Tallahassee’s own Luh Tyler dropped “Law & Order,” a track so smooth that it should play over Deion Sanders highlights. In a voice that is high in pitch but rich in timbre, Tyler raps, “No, I can’t break the code, but I can take your bitch and break her spine/ This a classy ho, this bitch got me outside drinking wine.” Yes, in Tallahassee, they grow to be unruly even before they can legally drink.“Stand On Biz” is menacing in tone, “Poppin Shit” even more so, and Tyler is up to the task of performing that menace, injecting some spunk into his cool disposition: “Man, that nigga know he dumb, his ass went broke up on some jewelry.”

Yungeen Ace: The Survivor of the Trenches

Yungeen Ace is a rapper from Jacksonville, Florida, who has overcome many hardships and tragedies in his life. He is known for his raw and emotional songs that reflect his experiences in the streets and his struggles with pain, loss, and betrayal.

Yungeen Ace was born Keyanta Bullard on February 12, 1998, in East Chicago, Indiana. He moved to Jacksonville at a young age and grew up in a rough neighborhood. He started rapping as a way to express himself and cope with his surroundings.He joined a group of friends who called themselves the “Yungeen” gang and started releasing music on SoundCloud in 2018.

His first hit was “All In”, a song that showcased his melodic flow and storytelling skills.The music video for the song was featured on World Star Hip Hop’s YouTube channel and gained millions of views. He followed up with more songs such as “No Witness”, “Pain”, and “Gorillaz”, which established him as one of the rising stars in the Florida rap scene.

However, his life took a tragic turn on June 5, 2018, when he and his friends were ambushed by gunfire while leaving a diner.Yungeen Ace was shot eight times and survived, but his brother and two other friends were killed in the attack. He was hospitalized for several weeks and had to undergo multiple surgeries.He also faced legal troubles as he was on probation for a previous charge of accessory to murder.

The Detroit native, whose sweets-invoking nom de plume was inspired by a childhood stint as a bake-sale maven, raps in a hushed, almost jokey tone, which makes his grim lyrics — about pissing on the opposition’s graves, when not outright blowing off their heads — sound both seductive and scary. Inspired by the carnage-heavy one-liners of early Eminem, Kookei decided, two years ago, to turn himself into a rapper. After posting a few loosies on YouTube, he released Psychopath, his excellent debut — boasting 20 macabre but mellifluous songs — earlier this year. 2 Live Crew (in full: The 2 Live Crew) is an American hip hop group from Miami, Florida, which had its greatest commercial success from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The group's most well-known line up was composed of Luke Campbell, Fresh Kid Ice, Mr. Mixx, and Brother Marquis. They were considerably controversial in the U.S. due to the sexually explicit content in their songs, particularly on their 1989 album As Nasty as They Wanna Be.
