Little crush pt.6
-> Previous part <-
A/N: Im so sorry for how much time it took me to write this part, but these past 2 weeks i was sick and ha a lot of sterss at school so i apologise. This is not proofread and english is not my native language so i apologise for any mistakes.
At the woods Daryl was finally at piece, the only place that could give him this scarce pleasure. The sound of the running water around him never filed at calming him down. The creek on which’s side he was sitting on was his little sanctuary, hidden deep into the forest around your town. The sounds were slowly starting to put his mind at ease. He needed that, craved it. After the pain he felt at lunch he needed to take his mind of that, forget a bit about it so he can face it later. It wasn’t the best strategy but it worked for him. If pushing it down until it all became too much to handle and lashed out on the nearest person to him. The only thing he worried about was this person to not be you. Even after hurting him you didn’t deserve his harsh words. He would never hurt you, ever.
But even his own little heaven on earth couldn’t make him stop thinking of today. Why did you not come? At the end it was your idea, so maybe you actually liked spending time with him. Or at least that was what he thought. Maybe one of your friend heard about it and reminded you of the trash he actually was and then you decided to just don’t show up. It should be this. You didn’t want your friends to see you sitting with the “weirdo redneck” the whole school knew him as. And he couldn’t blame you, how could he? At the end of the day he needed to remember who he was.
Still this didn’t stop him from feeling hurt and let down by you. The excitement he felt when he bought the piece of cheesecake, hoping it will bring a smile to your face, was almost overwhelming. His heart was beating like a jackhammer inside his chest. While he waited for you to come and sit, he was thinking how to ask you out. Of course he couldn’t be smooth like the popular guys and straight up ask you. He was thinking that maybe going into the woods and showing you his favorite spots with the reason that was for your upcoming biology quiz. At your house you seemed interested at the subject so he thought this was perfect. And maybe if he was brave enough he could ask you out on a real date. Buy you dinner and walk you to your house. Maybe you would have given him another kiss on the cheek.
Yet that was only om his head. As soon as he saw you with your back to him, sitting with your friends, he knew he shouldn’t have lie to himself. Both of you were from different worlds and he needed to understand that. From now on he would keep his distance from you. Sitting away from you, not staring like he always does. Only this will keep him from being hurt again.
````````````````
The next day his plan was on the verge to fail every time you came within his eye side. In every class the two of you had together you were trying to sit in the closest possible seat, the whole time he could feel your eyes practically glued to his head, but he wouldn’t budge. After every class he would get out the fastest way possible. Even though he didn’t even want to look at you he was secretly hoping, deep down, that you will make him stop and explain that you didn’t dump him yesterday, that it was only a mistake. Something like you forgot or a friend of yours needed you for something really important. But he knew he shouldn’t hope. It was useless.
On the other hand, you were desperate to get Daryl’s attention, trying everything you could think of. The first two times you tried to catch up to him and explain why you didn’t end up with him yesterday, he walked so fast that it was impossible to even think of that. You knew he was ignoring you and you deserved it. But the truth was that you did wanted to sit with him, to be in his company again and to get lost into his beautiful blue eyes.
What happened yesterday was that you completely forgot. Until the moment you saw him leave the cafeteria you were so worried about the fact that you just received another bad grade in Science, a subject that you never seemed to understand, and the whole time were thinking of how to change it. It was so stupid and you knew that you had hurt him. The reason was so foolish and the whole rest of yesterday you were thinking how to explain it so it wouldn’t sound like something made up. At the end you decided to be honest with him. You would tell him the truth about what happened and then pray that he won’t call you a liar and never speak to you again.
You finally were able to sneak up on him after school. Fort the rest of the school day you were laying low, walking in different hallways to not seem like you were trying to catch him. So he relaxed, thought that you gave up on him and everything is how it always was. Not that he was happy, no. Every time he looked around and didn’t spot you within eye sight he felt a little pang in his heart, making him drop his shoulders. He didn’t even bother trying to listen to any of the teachers. He couldn’t make it a day without seeing you. How pathetic. He didn’t even notice your figure standing next to the door he was about to go through.
“Hey, Daryl, do you have a second?” Your words made him jump, turning towards you, looking like he saw a ghost and he couldn’t take his eyes of you. You were looking amazing as always, but a worried expression was adoring your face. Why would you be worried? Immediately he was the one concerned now. Did something happen to you? It didn’t look like you were crying so that was a good sign. The wrinkle between your eyebrows deepened and he remembered that you had asked him a question. “What do ya want?” The moment he said it he regretted the gruff way he spoke and the way your face turned from worried to sad didn’t help either. Good job ya idiot, now ya made’er sadder. “I’m sorry for yesterday” You said with your eyes looking at the floor, not being able to look into his eyes and see the disappointment and pain in them. “I got a D in Science and was really distracted and at the end forgot. I’m so, so sorry. Let me make it up to you. Do you want to go out sometimes?” At your confession Daryl was dumbfounded. He hoped that you really forgot and had a problem, but he never seriously considered it. He was sure you were too embarrassed to sit with him, let alone ask him to hang out with you. And how could he decline that, maybe he was even able to help you out with your troubles. He was always good at science so maybe he could study again with you.
“Ye-yea, I want’a hang out with ya. I can also help ya with science.” At that he seemed too eager so he tried to play it down with a casually “only if ya want’ta” and leaning on the near wall, looking at the smile appearing on your face like it didn’t make butterflies flutter inside his stomach. In a matter of seconds your face turned from sad and worried to a blinding smile. The knowledge that he was the one to brighten up your mood made him feel prouder than he has ever been. “Really?” The joyful look atop your face was enough to make Daryl weak in the knees. No one has ever looked at him with such a sincere hope as you. The attention you were giving him made his cheek burn in a bright red color and he ducked his head so you wouldn’t see it. There was a warmth inside him, going to every part of his body. Such a unique feeling, but oddly a nice one as well. “So... um..do ya want me ta help ya?” He said. “Of course. Do you want me to come to your house?” You offered, thinking he will prefer to be at his place.
Daryl’s eyes widened at your seemingly innocent suggestion. His heart was beating a thousand miles an hour in his ribcage. Last time he came to your place so it was only fair if this time he was the host. And he was too shy to ask to come to your house again. But there was no way in hell he was letting you see the dump he called “home”. You were looking at him with an anticipating gaze. He couldn’t let you down, disappoint you. Just as he was about to ask to come again at your house an idea formed into his head. There was a place he could always go, calm and safe. A place where he felt at piece and wanted to share with you. The woods he always went to calm down was a perfect place. The side of the creek cutting through the forest was an ideal spot to take you and he wouldn’t need to explain his home situation.
“Actually I was thinkin’ of a spot I know. It’s quiet and nice.” He offered and was now anxiously waiting for your reaction. “Of course. Where is it?” you asked. “I can’t really explain it. I can pick ya up from yur house and will show ya. Okay?” Just after saying it he realized how this sounded. He was offering to take you to a place you didn’t know and you probably didn’t trust him. Nice job, ia dumbass. Now she’s gonna think yur some kind of creep. Realy smart. He braced himself for your rejection of his idea. But instead you were on board with it. Even seemed like you weren’t worried at all. The two of you agreed he will pick you up at 10 am this Saturday and later he will drop you off.
After both of you agreed on the details you said goodbye and went on your way, smiling to yourself that Daryl didn’t resent you about yesterday. And the help he offered felt like a blessing. If you were lucky tomorrow, there was a chance to maybe finally make a move towards him.
Daryl was still leaning on the wall you left him at and he couldn’t believe his luck, but there was an unsettling feeling inside him. Just yesterday he swore to keep his distance from you. What if you accepted his offer only for his help? It didn’t sound unbelievable, but you didn’t seem like the person to do so. The joy in your eyes seemed genuine and so did your face. But that didn’t stop him from being afraid he was going to be hurt again. Maybe he should tell you that something came up and he couldn’t, just stick to his previous plan, but he didn’t have it in himself to disappoint you. The only thing he could do was hope for the best. Perhaps he will find the courage to finally do something about his crush on you.
````````````````
The time until Saturday couldn’t come faster. That was the thought replaying in Daryl’s head while trying to fall asleep. It was Thursday around 12 pm and he was laying in his room, staring at the clock on his nightstand. The house was quiet save for the sound of his dad’s snoring. When Daryl came home he was greeted with the sight of his father passed out in his armchair, a bottle of beer on the ground next to it. This view was the best Daryl could hope for. The other instance was his dad coming home late into the night and taking whatever anger he felt out on Daryl. After he felt he inflicted enough abuse, his father would go into his bedroom and pass out, loudly starting to snore.
Daryl would almost always stay in his room, in a corner feeling like the weakest person on earth, the most he would do was craw in his bed, looking at the ceiling. On the outside he looked calm, just laying but inside his head he was screaming to himself to finally do something. To get up and move out like Merle, to run from his father. And just when he felt he had enough courage his dad would come with new insults to add on the long list. It almost felt like he was able to sniff out when Daryl felt even an ounce of self-esteem and bravery. Then he would come with blows and kicks, curses spilling from his mouth, making Daryl remember who he really is. And where he belonged.
A creaking sound made Daryl snap out of his thoughts. Wistfully he knew all to well this sound, the very one of his dad’s room’s door. It always creaked, almost like an alarm for him to hide. And that was what he did. Going to his window and carefully lifting it up, so he won’t make himself known to his wasted father. As soon as he could craw out of it he maneuvered his body and landed on the outside of the trailer. Just on time to hear the door to his room open and heavy steps come inside. He styled his movements and strained his ears to hear his father’s reaction. In his head he was praying Will wouldn’t glance out of the window, because if he did Daryl was screwed. Maybe there really’s a god. Daryl thought as the only thing heard from his room was a slurred curse and then the sound of his bedroom door being closed. His whole body relaxed and he slumped onto the side of the trailer. That was a close call and he knew how lucky he was. The down side was there was no way to go in soon so he needed a place to stay. The thought of going to your house flashed across his head but then he realized how it will look. Him appearing outside your front door at midnight at a school night. And naturally there would be too many questions.
He couldn’t do that so he settled on going for a walk around town. It was late so the streets were mostly empty save for a few cars and some groups of teenagers. He stopped at the convenience store and went inside. The only person onside was a middle aged woman, dressed in the store uniform. She only glanced at him and then returned to the magazine she was reading. One of the things Daryl liked about coming there at night was that no one cared who were you. The employees would just look up at you and then return to their tasks. Going to the fridges he grabbed a can of Cola and headed towards the register. Placing the can on the counter he reached for a pack of gum and also placed it on the counter. The woman scanned the items and snatched the bills Daryl had handed her. Placing the money in the register she didn’t say anything to him as he walked out.
Now outside he opened his coke and took a sip of it. He needed to wait a bit more before going back to hi place, just in case his dad still hasn’t fell asleep yet. Looking around and seeing the local park he thought he might as well go there. The park was well lit and a few benches were scattered around for people to sit on. While walking around his mind wandered off towards you. What were you doing now? Probably sleeping but did you also think about your upcoming date. Where you as impatient as him or you were just patiently waiting? Maybe he never even crossed your mind and he wouldn’t be surprised. After all you just saw it as a favor. But for him it was so much more. You were trusting him that he knew what he was doing, even putting hope onto his knowledge.
Without noticing he was already at the end of the park and enough time had passed for him to go home. With sorrowful steps he made his way to his trailer. He always dreaded coming there, but he didn’t have any choice. From the front door he could hear his father’s snoring so at least he didn’t need to worry about that. Going into his room he flopped onto his bed and hugged his pillow. But oh how much he wanted you to be the one there with him. To run your fingers through his hair and place a kiss on top his head. With this dream in mind he fell asleep. It wasn’t surprising when his dream was exactly the thing he wanted the most – you.
``````````````````
Saturday at 10 am the sound of the doorbell ringing made you run to open the door. You still didn’t have all the things you needed ready but didn’t want your mom opening the door and embarrassing you again, like the last time. Outside your front door stood Daryl with a little smile upon his face. “Hi, Daryl! Do you want to come in? I just need a minute.” You asked and opened the door more for him. “Yea, sure.” Answered Daryl and came inside. While walking beside you your hands accidentally brushed and goosebumps appeared along his skin. Every time your skin touched his he went all red in the face and this time it was no different. While ducking his head so you don’t see the crimson red painting his cheeks you made sure your mom is not around. Thank god she wasn’t, though it only seemed this way.
From the countertop in the kitchen your mom had a perfect view of the front door but you couldn’t see her. And she didn’t miss the way your eyes happened to brighten a bit at the sight of Daryl on your front step. And the way his face would color red almost immediately also wasn’t lost on her. Even though to here both of your feelings were obvious id didn’t seem like the two of you knew. But wasn’t it like this always?
Your house wasn’t that unfamiliar to Daryl now so he was able to relax a bit. The living room looked exactly like the last time he was here. Glancing at you he saw that you were already looking at him. Both of you blushed and looked away with little smiles on your faces. “So… I need only a few things from my room and I will be back. Would you mind waiting for a bit?” You questioned and waited for him to respond. “No, I will be good. I’ll wait here.” He said and looked around again. “Okay then. Make yourself comfortable.” You said and went upstairs, leaving Daryl alone. Going upstairs you grabbed a few books for science and the few snacks you prepared for today. Checking yourself in the mirror for the last time you went down happy with the way you looked.
In the living room you stooped dead in your tracks at the view before your eyes. Your mother was sat next to Daryl on the couch. She was smiling and it looked like she had just asked Daryl a question if you could guess from her expecting gaze. Daryl on the other hand looked like he wants to be anywhere but here. And your thoughts would be right, because Daryl regretted ever saying he wanted to come inside. He should have waited outside. Your mom came into the room just as you disappeared up the stairs, almost like she was waiting for you to leave. She greeted him and immediately started asking questions about him. He was so overwhelmed with that dose of attention that the most he could answer was a simple “yes” or “no”. Your mom didn’t seem to notice how uncomfortable he was so she carried on with her questions about how he was at school and other nonsense. Unfortunately, she didn’t skip the questions about his family but at that moment you came to his rescue.
“I’m ready. Are we going?” You urged looking at Daryl with raised eyebrows and a little smirk upon your mouth. “Yea, let’s go. Nice meetin’ you, ma’am.” Daryl said and got up. Your mom only offered a smile and said a goodbye as well. Finally, outside you questioned where you were going. Instead of answering you Daryl only glanced at you nervously and muttered a “You will see.”. Now that he was finally getting close to the woods he got more and more anxious. How would you react to him leading you into the woods? What if you found the little surprise he made for you ridiculous? But he didn’t let these thoughts win over the joy of being around you. The time you were walking there was mostly silence but it didn’t seem awkward or uncomfortable. It was the exact opposite, a comfortable one and he didn’t feel the need to say something.
After about a 10 minute walk you were at the edge of the forest. He looked at you, expecting to see you looking around and confused but instead you were looking at him curiously. There was not a single sign of worry or confuse. “There is a little creek about 5 minutes from here. Thought you would like it.” He spoke first and waited for your reaction. “Lead the way then.” You said and waited for him to continue walking. Daryl’s nerves calmed down after your calm response. To be honest he didn’t think someone would be that calm around him, let alone you. After all you didn’t really know anything about him. And after a bit of thinking Daryl realized that he didn’t really know anything about you either other than the basic stuff like family and friends. Today was an opportunity to get to know you and he should use it.
The forest both of you were in was beautiful, full of sounds and light. The birds chirping and the rustling of the leaves was like music to your ears. The last time you were in a forest was maybe 2 years ago when you and your family went on a camping trip to a nearby national park. Thinking of it reminded you of how nice it was. You never thought that you could miss the forest but here you were. And looking at Daryl you noticed how relax he looked, no tension visible in his muscles. That was maybe the only time you have ever seen him so at peace. He looked at you with the corner of his eye and you turned your gaze away, not realizing that you were staring but you couldn’t help it. You were seeing new side of Daryl unfold in front of your eyes.
Daryl could already hear the sound of the water running ahead of him. His body wasn’t as tense as it was at your house, the forest having its calming effect on him. Now his mind was worked up if the thing he went earlier to set up was going to be too much. He wanted to make something special for you and hopped you wouldn’t find it stupid. Walking on a bit of narrow path covered in dry leaves somewhere you heard a Woodpecker pecking. Looking around the trees trying to find it you didn’t saw a tree root poking through the forest floor. Tripping on it you were too stunned to reach out your arms to stop your fall. Preparing yourself for the pain bout to come you braced yourself and closed your eyes but no pain came. Opening your eyes, you saw Daryl holding you to his chest, his face having an almost terrified expression on it. Your faces were so close that you could feel his breath mixing with yours. Looking at his lips you wondered what would be the feeling of them pressed against your own. Looking back at Daryl’s eyes you saw a new emotion in them but you couldn’t understand what it was.
Daryl caught you out of pure instinct, not thinking how close your bodies would be. But when you opened your eyes and looked into his eyes with this look of gratefulness his heart started pounding like a jackhammer inside his ribcage. And when you looked at his lips he sneaked a glance at yours. How full the seemed to be and the urge to feel them against his own was almost irresistible. Almost. But what if you didn’t want this and pushed him away from you. Called him a creep and ran away. He couldn’t risk it so he settled with looking at his feet and letting you go, the absence of your body and its warmth against it painfully obvious to him.
“Ya ok?” he asked this time looking at your face, scanning it for any sign of pain. You only shook your head, still a little bit shaken up from being so close to him. “I’m good, don’t worry. Are we close?” Turning to the direction the two of you were walking in you stepped over the root and turned to Daryl. “Uhm…yea. Jus’ a bit more.” With that you started walking again, this time looking where you were going. After just a minute of walking you saw the light reflecting from the surface of the water. In front of you was a creek surrounded by tall trees, the branches of the trees making a colorful shade over it. And then you saw the rest. At the sight of the blanket and the food scattered on it you halted immediately. There were different kinds of food and 2 sodas atop it.
“Hope ya like it. I’ve never really did somethin’ like tha’.” His nervous words made you turn to him, seeing his cheeks painted bright red. He was shuffling from foot to foot and looking down. “Oh, Daryl, you did all this? For me?” One look into his eyes told him that you did in fact like it. “Of cours’ fer ya.” He said with a bashful smile and sat on the blanket, making a gesture with his hand for you to do the same. Plopping down next to him you continued looking around, enjoying the sight before your eyes. Daryl was doing the same thing, his gaze pinned on you. He was finally starting to believe that this was actually happening, you with him at the only place he knew how to relax. You probably weren’t feeling the same way as him but for now he would allow himself to daydream you do.
Turning back to him you pulled out a notebook and stared at him expectantly. He seemed like he forgot what the two of you were meeting up to do. Snapping out of his daydreams he pulled out his book and started to actually work. But every now and then you would take small breaks and would snack on the things he prepared and chat for everyday stuff. Daryl never thought talking with someone can be this easy, not awkward or pointless small talk. And you would ask so many questions, trying to learn the things that he liked. Asking what was his favorite ice cream - chocolate or about his favorite color – green. And he would always return the question absorbing the information like a sponge tossed into water. The knowledge wasn’t something really deep but it was the things that made you who you were.
By the late afternoon you finally understood Science. Turns out Daryl can be an amazing teacher, patiently explaining everything that you didn’t understand. And he now knew enough stuff about you that he felt like he has always known you. When the sun looked like was about to set you picked up your things and Daryl cleaned up, getting the blanked in one hand. Starting to walk back to your house the whole way you were talking and laughing. If someone saw you they would think that both of you were longtime friends, just going for a walk. Gradually in no time you here in front of your front door and you were turning to say goodbye to Daryl. But he was already looking at you, a seemingly sad expression onto his face. He didn’t want this to end, talking and learning new things about you.
“I had an amazing time with you. If you want to maybe, we should do it again.” The enthusiastic tone of your voice making him feel like someone lit a fire inside him, the warmth spreading to very crevice of his body. “I would love ta.” The smile on top his face was genuine and before he knew what was happening you were leaning in and placing a kiss on his cheek. His body was completely straightened up and the look on his face being like to someone just stricken up by thunder.
“Bye, Daryl. I will see you Monday.” Turning around and going inside your house you left Daryl on your porch wondering if he will ever get used to these.
Good Doggy (Shifter! TF141 x Male!Reader)
Chapter 1
Masterlist here
Warnings - Some awkwardness and staring
Updated; 3/5/2024 with more details
Beta Reader: @letmelickyoureyeballs whose saving my life right now.
Tumblr media
You had to leave your job in the city for your own safety, to an abandoned house left by your aunt, who you were close to until she passed. It was a struggle to get there, most of your cousins wanted to burn it down, as did your father.
But in times like these, you needed it.
The car pulled up to the house, a Jeep that was filled to the brim with everything you could grab. Suitcases and trash bags filled with items. You didn't even have a bed, just some pillows and blankets. Maya would be by later and she would set up her own room. Thinking of her caused you to fiddle with the knife in your pocket, your thumb rubbing over the runes that were etched into the metal.
The house was nice. Large, you looked it up on Zillow because you could barely remember what it looked like. 4 beds, 3 baths, fully paid for.
And you would be alone in it.
The car was parked so that your trunk was facing the garage, opening it with a click of a button and dragging everything out. Quickly, avoiding your neighbors’ stares as they walked out. One neighbor in particular who didn't seem to stop even when you stared back at him.
A mohawk, buff thighs and arms, and his mouth was slightly opened as he kept staring. You stared back, glaring at him as every time you turned back in the car he was there.
Until he turned into air. Just a second and he was replaced by someone else, someone who was taller than him and with a mask that had a skull on it.
You had a mask on as well, but yours was a plain black medical mask. And Mohawk was back next to him, and both just stared.
You didn't like the staring, you escaped that city for a reason.
So you finished shoving all your stuff in the garage and locked your car, staring at them until the garage closed, where you could finally take a breath, taking the mask off as you relaxed in your closed-off house, all the doors locked and the windows covered.
You went to your future bedroom, your aunt's items were gone. All the furniture was taken when she died. In your cousin's words "You got the house, not her stuff" and you were fine with that. No pictures, no couches nor shelves, just plain purple walls. All appliances were gone as well. No fridge or stove, it was dead.
And Your cousins just burned it all. It was such a waste.
You were fine with it, it was almost comforting. Her spirit wasn't around anymore.
"I'm hungry..." you grumbled to yourself, grabbing your new phone and calling the closest pizza place.
Tumblr media
"How is that even possible?" John Price was angry. He liked things to be planned to the very last detail. It kept him and his pack safe. Moving to this small town with a large forest was for safety, and now it could all be screwed up because of a new neighbor.
A new neighbor that was supposedly Soap's AND Ghost's mate.
Stupid fucking shifters.
He says that as if he isn't jealous. Part of moving here meant that they also had the ability to leave quickly if needed, and having an attachment like a mate, especially a human one, meant that Ghost and Soap wouldn't leave without you.
Whether they would force you or not would be your decision.
But it was all so stupid. Stupid enough that Price thought about killing you, for just a moment. And then he looked at Soap's lovestruck look and completely forgot that idea.
It was time for him to meet you. To actually see what the big deal was.
Tumblr media
Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick wanted Soap to shut up. Ghost knew when to be quiet, and Gaz could appreciate that. But if he had to be reminded of how lonely he was one more time he was going to snap.
Of course the second in command and the lieutenant found their mate. Of course it had to be a human.
And Gaz wanted to be happy for his friends, of course he did but god did he wish it was him instead. He had always been so lonesome and just focused on finding this one person, but since he's left to live a (relatively) normal life, he's had no hope. It's just been him and the pack, and while they were great people, he couldn’t see himself marrying them.
He almost cringes thinking about it.
But Gaz shuts up instead as Soap goes on about this person who moved in right across from them. About how amazing they looked and what Soap spotted in their suitcases. He seemed obsessive over every detail and Gaz wished it was him.
But he grins and laughs and tells Soap "I can't wait to meet him" because that's what good friends do.
Tumblr media
NEXT
Alright so I know it's been a hot second, here me out. Things have gotten super stressful and I basically couldn't function for a few months but I'm gonna try to write some more so here's a new story I'm working on, IDK I like the idea of it and it's mainly for me more than anything so.
Blood for Ruin
(Or, Alastor and That One Time He Got Drunk and Forgot He Tried To Make a Black Magic Agreement With a Radio Only For It to Come Back to Him in the Worst Way)
Pairings: Alastor x Reader (She/Her/OFC) as reluctant semi-soulmates via non-consensual deal (on both ends). No use of Y/N.
I understand he is aroace, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this idea so here it is.
Eventual smutty smut happening, but be kind dear god am I rusty.
_________________________________________
Exhausted was simply not what you were - you were so past that, your brain so fried out that you didn’t even know what word you were.
Because if you were seeing smiling figure-like shadows on the walls with long dark tendrils wrapping around your surroundings, and radio static from nowhere, then yea. You were fried.
But hey, it had been a crazy long weekend. You’d just spent the last 4 days cleaning up your hoarder of a great aunts shack in the Bon Temps bayou with the other scattered remainder of her family, rooting through about 4 unidentifiable rooms with confirmed animal carcasses and straight up trash-garbage piled to the ceilings. But since your mother died, any family connection at this point was appreciated, right?
‘Couldn’t be more wrong, but it’s too late now’, you think. It was way too late to back out now, you had something to prove. Your Great Aunt’s remaining son had called you ‘slicker’ because you lived in a town with more than one lighted intersection for Christ's sake. And because you used ‘whom’ in a sentence, that opened up an entirely new thrush of nicknames from your distant cousins. You wouldn’t be beaten down, you guys were almost all done with the cleanup anyway, the only remaining items being that of actual use or salvageable material. A couple family members had taken a few items home already, and since you weren’t particularly close with these relatives you weren’t about to ask for anything until-
Well until the little radio was brought out.
For some reason, the craftsmanship of this radio caught your eye. It was a beautiful dark wood, with intricate swirls carved around the speakers - the entire thing was shaped like a miniature church cathedral window. It was clearly vintage, basically a historical piece, you thought - and you did ask quietly if you could keep it. Your uncle fiddled with it to make it work but it needed some attention. It looked virtually untouched otherwise. It was a gorgeous piece, and it looked like it was a new acquisition to the deceased woman’s collection - there wasn’t a spec of dust visible on it. Your uncle figured it wouldn’t be able to pick up football (and also “why would I listen to football when I can WATCH it?”) he let you take it with you.
So you brought it back to your temporary home, the little motel at the outskirts of town (the only motel even close to the town) and set it on the little desk. And there it sat for 2 days before you finally dove in, trying to figure out what was going on with it. You had deduced it was likely the wiring, and after watching 5 or 6 videos on wiring repair on YouTube (good old YouTube) you were fairly confident a simple repair would take no time at all.
But things made in the 20s were a lot sharper, and more metal based, compared to the newer plastic models of recent years. So when you undid the back panel and attempted to unscrew a fastener around the side of the main component, you had successfully sliced your palm open on an errant piece of metal. And holy crow did it hurt AND gush blood immediately. Even though you had whipped your hand close to your chest almost as soon as you realised what had happened it was too late, there was a fair amount of blood that got on the inside of the machine.
Uttering curses, you’d rushed to the bathroom to grab a couple threadbare cloths and sop up some of the larger drops on the desk. Moving around the radio to the light, you had a clearer idea of where your blood landed. Palming one cloth in your wounded hand, your other one attempted to clean up the mess within the radio. Which is where you noticed the funny little symbols written on the inside of the back panel of the radio, which had lain facedown on the desk as soon as you had removed it. These little symbols looked like runes of some sort, unidentifiable to you. They almost looked like they were written out of blood themselves. It was clearly dried now, but the jagged nature of the strokes and brownish un-ink like material that was used to leave the symbols certainly looked like dried blood might look like on old wood.
You wiped your blood off the radio, and ran the cloth right over one of the runes, making it glow briefly with a green light. Maybe.
Well, that was what you thought you saw. But it was so brief you would have missed it with a well timed blink. The sun was setting, light streaming through the window in hazy little streaks, maybe you saw some prismatic effect? Or maybe, maybe you needed a shower and bed. Clearly if you sliced your hand open on a little radio you were tired. Sloppy coordination indeed. You reattached the back panel to the radio and decided to ignore it until you were in a better headspace.
Radio abandoned, you went and started to clean yourself up and get ready for sleep. But when the lights in the bathroom started to flicker, only to stay on slightly duller than before, paired with a strange static that scratched the inside of your eardrums, you decided to end your shower quicker than ever. Exiting the bathroom, you were chilled to realise that the main room had the same ambient experience waiting for you. And if you focused on the moving shadows from what you hoped were passing cars (electric, judging by the lack of engine noise) there was a solid larger mass lingering on the wall with the dresser and broken TV. One that looked like it had a smile, and glowing red eyes (from a car's tail lights, duh!). Yes, yes. Tired. SO tired.
Calling the front did not help, since the static was so loud when you lifted up the receiver you slammed it back down. Your own cell phone was still charging on the side table, flashing the little dead battery symbol to let you know you needed to be more responsible with your charging habits in the future. It could be another 15 minutes before it was ready to turn on.
So, obviously tired, it was time to attempt to sleep. Hopefully. If you were lucky. It wasn’t enough that the bayou was creepy all on its own, the evening took a sharp turn into scary-town after you started messing with the little radio.
Pyjama-clad and ready to sleep you decided that the hallucinations were exactly what you thought they were - hallucinations and nothing more. Nothing spooky, or supernatural, or dangerous.
But you had been wrong before.
It was the initial crashing sound of the motel room door hitting the wall that woke you up first, screaming male voices really kicking your brain into high alert as you scrambled out of bed. Ending up in the corner facing the opposite corner where the door was, you took in what was happening. 2 men, yelling at you for whatever you had - but you were screaming louder than they were, scrambling for anything in your grasp - just that stupid, fucking radio - but judging by the hot impact of a projectile hitting your chest they were not thrilled you weren’t immediately cooperating. Hand clenching around the radio’s cord you hit the corner and slumped down to the floor, lungs burning and immense pain taking over your consciousness. As your mind faded, you could hear the two men bickering, freaking out over the turn their burglary took. Oh, you being shot was an accident? Stellar. Your vision became hazy, it even looked like shadows were overtaking the men as their arguing turned into painful screaming. Whoever came to your aid was simply too late, though you could appreciate the gesture as you died.
You always thought that you would end up looking down at your dying body when the time came, but from the forceful pull downwards your soul felt, it was clear the afterlife had different plans for you.
Now you weren’t really sure what the hell, like actual, literal, hell, was going on. The impact you felt from your sharp tug into the afterlife, landing on a very detailed rug at what looked like the lobby of a hotel was one thing. The tiny radio following your fall shortly after, merely denting a corner of the wood with a loud thunk was another, cord still clenched in your hand. Oh good!
Dazed, you were immediately hoisted up and hugged - yes hugged - by probably the tallest women you had ever met, and the fastest talking one as well. Rambling about “welcome”, “hell rehab”, something or other about redemption - honestly the look of relief you gave the shorter woman who approached and reined in the other made her smirk as she introduced them in a much clearer manner.
Vaggie and Charlie. Vaggie was a resident of the hotel with her girlfriend, the owner and operator of this ‘Hazbin Hotel’, Charlie, both working at redeeming the souls of sinners and getting them into heaven. There were 2 residents, Angel & Sir Pentious, who were not present, a Janitor Nifty (currently wiping your landing spot with a cloth) the bartender, an angry bird-cat man Husk, and the host (also missing) Alastor. Your open mouthed confusion clearly made Charlie snap into attention (finally) because she finally morphed into a being that was capable of conversation.
“So, new to hell?” She inquired.
Well. Duh. “Um yes. I think I was just shot? Am I actually dead?” You asked, hopeful this was a very vivid nightmare.
“As a doornail!” She exclaimed, chipper with positive energy, “Not that doornails are dead, they don’t have souls like you or Angel but really-”
“Yes. You’re dead. And a sinner, which is why you’re here.” Vaggie cut in, patting Charlie on the back. Charlie smiled brightly and nodded at you.
“Yes, and here you can redeem yourself and hopefully make it to heaven! I have faith in our program.”
Oh god this was too much. The sound of a door opening and closing was faintly heard in the background, but that didn’t stop you from being a speedy spiral into mania.
“So. One, I’m dead. Two, why am I in hell I am pretty sure I was a decent human? I didn’t go to church, sure, but I had very little control over my working schedule. Three, is it supposed to be so freaking loud down here? I’m-“
Intense breathing interrupted - yes, breathing. It was the janitor, her one eye staring at you while she lifted the little radio. ”This is diiiirty” she semi-sang. A horrific giggle was lingering under her breath. You grimaced at her behaviour and dropped the cord immediately, avoiding any contact by proxy with this creature. What a creepy little -
“Did that come with you?” Charlie asked, looking confused as you answered with a nod. “Strange, usually possessions don’t follow a soul into the afterlife…” She trailed off, finger tapping her chin with a frown. Everyone turned to look at the manic janitor essentially vibrating with the radio in her hands.
“Interesting! What has inspired us all to gather this fine evening?”
”Alastor!” Charlie greeted an individual behind you. ”This might be our newest resident…she’s just arrived!” Her hands wildly gestured from you to whoever was behind you. You could see the shadow of the person on the floor, stretching into a long figure that looked vaguely familiar. You were certain your eyes were burning a hole into the carpet beneath the shadow. If the shadow was this frightening what exactly was behind you? The shadow appeared to smile wider as you stared at it.
“Hmm!” Alastor, you supposed, responded. “What an exciting new development why - Oh!” Something had caught his attention. He walked towards the janitor, and you glanced at the back of his figure as he walked past you towards the tiny creature. He was tall, very tall, and slender. There was an ominous presence around him, even the nature of his clothing was fashioned in a way that seemed off. It was unnerving. Broad shoulders tapered into a very slim waistline, his jacket flared out behind him in a style reminiscent of a different time. Head to toe red and black, which was also just…something else. But the other patrons also had an interesting approach to their wardrobes as well, save the 2 women. Maybe that was just…how it was here.
“Now where did you find this delightful little item, Nifty?” He said, his profile coming slightly into your view. Dear god, terrifying. You couldn’t even begin to describe his appearance. Chills ran down your back, and suddenly you remembered you were still in very thin pajamas.
“Eh-hehe a dirty radio sir!” She answered, thrilled with herself. “it came with our new guessst” her eye switching from the tallest, creepiest creature you had ever set your eyes upon to your gaze. You swear you could hear the bones crack in the man's neck as he fired his gaze to yours. You were trapped.
“Is that so?” He began to slowly walk towards you, the room filling with a static hum similar to what you felt in the motel room, your skin tingling as he got closer. It was getting harder to hear the others try and talk to the approaching figure, the hum was getting louder.
“And what,” he started, “are you doing with my Radio, my dear?” His eyes were radio dials at this point, sharp jagged teeth glowing alongside them as his head tilted in an inhuman manner, the cracking from before louder than before.
What? Oh for fucks sake. Fuck your backwater, bayou-residing, rude, nasty, hoarder family-
As your eyes rolled back into your head, your body went limp and you hit the foyer carpet. Hard. For the second time that night
Jason and Y/N have been best friends for about five years now. Y/N is also a vigilante but is more of an Anti-hero since she’s more on the bad side of the law than the good side of the law. The only time she was on the good side of the law is if someone wronged her.
How Jason and Y/N met was one night where Jason caught her stealing a prized sliver necklace for the most expensive jewelry shop in Gotham. She was stealing the necklace for someone in exchange for money which is what she does with a lot of crooks or mob bosses. Since Jason was so intrigued with Y/N he let her go and that’s how their story started.
Two months ago Jason let Y/N move into his apartment with him since she’s been having issues with her on and off again boyfriend, Rex. Jason has hoped that Y/N would forget that asshole and realize he could be a much better boyfriend but he’s had no luck. It always pisses Jason off when she goes back to that asshole.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N and Jason were out at a Gotham nightclub with Roy since he just came into town for a visit. Jason was having a good time till Mr.Asshole showed up. Y/N was out on the dance floor grinding her ass all over Rex’s dick. Jason was standing at the bar with Roy glaring out at them.
“You glaring at them isn’t going to break them up.” Roy told him. “I can’t believe she keeps going back to that fuckboy.” Jason hissed looking away from the dance floor and grabbed his beer from the counter and took a big swing of the beverage. “Maybe if you actually make a move on her she won’t keep going back to that fuckboy.” Roy told him which made Jason slam the beer bottle back down on the counter. “Don’t you think I have fucking tried. It’s not that fucking easy.” Jason told him with anger in his voice. “Says the ladies man.” Roy said with a harsh laugh which just continued to piss Jason off. “You know what Roy.” Jason started as he could feel his blood boil. “Start minding your own fucking business.” Jason snapped and walked passed him. “Jason!” Roy called out to him over the music but Jason ignored him and kept on walking.
Jason had to squeeze his way through crowds of people to get to the men’s bathroom with was at the back of the nightclub. A couple of girls whistled at him but he just rolled his eyes and kept on walking. Getting laid would definitely help him but the girl he wants is grinding all over a different man.
When Jason walked into the bathroom he was relieved that no one was in there. He walked over to one of the sinks and turned on the cold water. He leaned over the sink and splashed the cold water on his face. Jason has only had two beers and one shot of whiskey but he could feel a small buzz coming. He turned the water off and stood back up. He grabbed a bunch of paper towel and dried his face off. He was hoping the cold water would cool off his anger and jealousy but it didn’t. He knew if he stayed he was going to do something he will regret in the morning so he’s just going to go back out there, tell Roy he’s calling it a night and go back to his apartment.
After Jason threw the paper towels in the trash can he walked out of the bathroom and back into the crowds of people. As Jason squeezed his way back to Roy the same girls called out to him again but again he ignored the again by rolling his eyes and walking. Jason looked around for Roy but he was nowhere to be found but he did see Y/N standing at the bar by herself so he walked over to her.
“Hey.” Jason said getting her attention. “Where is Roy at?” Jason asked her. “He met some horny chick so they left to go fuck at her place.” Y/N answered grabbed a shot and chugged it. She hissed at burning sensation in her throat from the whiskey.
“What about Rex?” Jason asked trying to show that he gives a fuck about that fucker. Y/N slammed the shot glass down on the counter which made Jason jump a little since he wasn’t expecting her to do that. “He fucking ditched me.” Y/N hissed. This isn’t the first time that Rex had ditched Y/N so that’s why Jason wasn’t surprised but he was pissed if even more now. “Why did he ditch you?” Jason asked trying his best to hide his anger the best he could. Let’s just say the only reason why Jason hasn’t beat the living shit out of Rex yet is because he knows Y/N could do it herself if she wanted to. “He wanted to go back to his place to hook up but I told him I didn’t want to leave you hear by yourself so he got pissed off and left.” Y/N explained to him.
“Listen-“ Jason started but she immediately cut him off. “Don’t fucking say it Jason!” Y/N hissed looking away from him. “Don’t say what?” Jason asked in confusion. “You stupid fucking pity speech.” Y/N snapped looking back at him. “I’m tired of hearing the same shit every fucking time.” She added which now set Jason off. “Well I wouldn’t keep telling you that shit if you would open your fucking eyes and stop going back to that fuckboy!” Jason said finally letting out the anger and frustration he’s been holding in. “Everytime you two break up I always see him fucking around with other girls. After he get’s ditched by them he goes running right back to you because he knows you’ll take him back.” Jason told her in stern tone. He was about to say more but he stopped himself when he saw tears forming and in Y/N’s eyes.
“It’s because I don’t know how to say no to him.” Y/N said with frustration in her voice. “I’m never going to learn my fucking lesson.” Y/N added looking away from Jason again. “Y/N, you are beautiful and you can find a much better boyfriend than Rex.” Jason told her which made Y/N scoff. “And who the fuck would that guy be?” Y/N said in annoyance wiping the tears from her eyes. “Maybe me.” Jason blurted out which quickly made Y/N look back at him. “What?” Y/N said in shock. “Oh fuck it.” Jason mumbled to himself.
He grabbed one of Y/N’s arms and pulled her body close to his. Before Y/N could say anything he smashed his lips onto hers. Y/N felt her whole body go into shock but she couldn’t pull away because the kiss felt so right. The kiss quickly turned into a make out session. Jason let go over her wrist and put his hands on her hips while her eyes wrapped around his neck. They broke the kiss when they needed air. They rested their foreheads against one another’s as they started to catch their breaths.
“How about we continue this in private.” Y/N said looking at him with lust in her eyes. “Where do you want to go?” Jason asked looking back at her with lust filled eyes. “How about your bedroom?” Y/N said as her lips curved into a smirk. Jason smirked back. “Let’s go.” Jason told her.
They left money for the drinks on the counter and walked out of the nightclub hand and hand. They got onto Jason’s motorcycle and he sped his way back to his apartment for a night he’s been waiting for since the first night he laid eyes on Y/N.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning Jason woke up with the best feeling in the world but it quickly faded away when he saw the other side of his bed empty. “Fuck!” Jason hissed. He pulled his bed sheets off his naked body and stood up. He walked over to his dresser and first pulled out a pair of boxers. He slipped on the boxers and then grabbed a black t-shirt out of the drawer. After he put on the t-shirt he walked out of his bedroom.
When he walked down the hall he stopped in front of Y/N’s room she wasn’t in there but he did notice the clothes she was wearing were laying on the end off her bed. Jason let out a heavy sigh as he ran a hand through his messy hair. Jason was a bit nervous that Y/N is thinking that what happened between them was just a drunken one night stand.
Jason walked into the living room to see no one in there. Roy must still be at his one night stand’s house. When he heard a noise coming from the small kitchen he knew Y/N must’ve been in there. Jason walked to the doorway of the kitchen to see Y/N pouring herself a cup of coffee. Jason knew she must’ve taken a shower since her hair was wet. He didn’t realize that he was just standing there staring at her till she said something to him.
“Want a cup of coffee?” Y/N asked him in a curious tone. “Oh yeah.” Jason answered walking towards her. He watched Y/N pull out a mug from the top cabinet and poured coffee into the mug. She handed the mug over to him. “Thanks.” Jason said carefully taking the mug and took a sip of it after blowing on it. “No problem.” Y/N told him. Jason set his mug down on the counter after taking a couple more sips. “So um how are you feeling?” Jason asked her. “I don’t have a hangover. I just had a buzz.” Y/N told him which made him feel a little bit relieved. “Me too.” Jason said and put his cup of coffee down on the counter.
Silence fell between the two till Y/N’s phone started to ring on the counter. When Y/N saw the caller ID she let out a groan and declined the call. “Who was that?” Jason asked since she declined the call before he could see the caller ID. “Who do you think?” Y/N said with annoyance. “Are you going to go back to him?” Jason asked with jealousy in his voice avoiding eye contact with her. He didn’t even try to hide his jealousy since they did just have sex about eight hours ago. “Well, it depends.” Y/N told him looking at him. Jason looked back at her with a confused look in his eyes. “Depends on if you meant what you said to me last night in the nightclub.” Y/N told him which made Jason’s lips curve up into a smile. He took one of her hands and held it. “I meant ever word I said to you last night.” Jason told her which made her smile.
She walked closer to him, leaned in and connected her lips with his’s for a soft kiss. Y/N put her other hand on his cheek and stoked it gently with her thumb which made him lean into her touch. “You can be a better boyfriend than him.” Y/N told him. “Damn fucking straight.” Jason said which made her giggle. She leaned in again and connected their lips for another sweet and soft kiss.
thirty.
warning; nothing but the end is coming! 🥂🥳 1.3k words. masterlist.
“sunghoon seems to take such good care of you,” one says, her hand brushing your arm, “his future wife is going to be so lucky.”
“speaking of which... what do you think about me as your sister in law?”
“no no! how about me as your sister in law!”
somehow, you found yourself cornered in by a bunch of beautiful women the moment you stepped into the function hall, all the daughters and granddaughters of the rich rich. at first they were all very sweet, complimenting you about everything and anything.
then the questions came, all about park sunghoon and his dating life.
the topic of his marriage had been the talk of the town as of late, more so after becoming ceo. you know for a fact that women dream of becoming his dear wife and although you don’t want to admit it, it’s in the back of your mind somewhere too.
“i hope i’m not interrupting,” sunghoon’s voice causes everyone around to you to gasp in unison, their eyes immediately twinkling at the sight of him behind you. the man extends his hand out to you with the most charming smile on his face, making you instantly swoon.
you take his hand, allowing him to pull you towards the stage where he was due for a speech. everyone’s focus is immediately on you, some with envy, some in awe and some with just plain hate. but you’ve become used to it. being a park has given you many things, including much thicker skin.
“you’re very popular,” you whisper, just loud enough for sunghoon to hear, “feels like i’m watching the bachelor.”
“you’re so cute when you’re jealous.”
“i am not jealous.”
he turns to you, brows raised and with that stupid, know-it-all grin on his face. he knows you’re jealous, hell, YOU knew you were jealous.
it sucks but you are, knowing these ladies had a higher chance of getting with him than you because at the end of the day, your relationship was in so many ways, wrong.
“don’t fall in love with me while i give my speech.”
the man walks over to do his speech while you’re left standing behind him, ironically speechless because it was too late for that warning now. way too late.
there was a noticeable change in sunghoon recently that you assume was from the responsibility of a new position. although the man still enjoyed annoying you on the daily, he was evidently more attentive, more thoughtful, more mature in general.
a true man.
you’ve barely gotten to spend time with him these days, the man too busy with work but every moment that you did, he made sure it was worth it.
and this sunghoon really did something to you, having you fall deeper and deeper for him without even knowing it.
“wipe your drool, you’re making a mess.”
but of course sunghoon being sunghoon, still had that trash mouth of his that manages to ruin any given moment.
“funny,” you scoff and softly knock his chest, even stepping closer as an intimidating stance. what you forgot though, were the hundreds of watchful eyes and how the playful scene might’ve looked to them.
sunghoon raises a questionable brow and glances around the place before looking back down at you, “oh. in front of all these people? you want me that bad?”
“you are unbelievable.”
the man laughs whole heartedly and offers his arm, in which you take for him to lead you back down the stairs. the charity event continues on, with sunghoon mingling with the crowd and you by his side. nights like these really gave you a glimpse into what it would be like if you really were with sunghoon.
not as his step sister, but as his partner.
“just a little longer.”
“hm?”
“i know you’re tired, we’ll leave soon,” sunghoon keeps his voice low only for your ears, his hand rubbing your backs soothingly, “then you can have me to yourself.”
“whatever. i’m going to the bathroom.”
leaving sunghoon be, you head for the bathroom, only to be stopped by the loud mention of your name. the conversation between two men in the hallway immediately peaks your curiosity, your legs quickly stepping behind the wall to hide.
“he’s quite close to his sister don’t you think? they’re always together,” you hear a male voice, one you recognise as someone from management, “i think they’ve fucked at least.”
gulp.
“same but at the same time, i don’t think he’s that stupid,” the other responds with a laugh, “that’s like sabotaging the company and his own image. they’re step siblings but it’s still pretty fucked up.”
“someone apparently saw them cosying up in his office the other day.”
“shit really? oh i’m so ready to watch his downfall in this company.”
voices and laughter eventually drown out as they disappear around the corner, leaving you and their words to finally sink in. if their words did anything, it’s solidifying your thoughts.
that you and park sunghoon can’t happen for everyone’s sake.
“why do you look so suspicious?”
sunghoon’s sudden voice makes you jump for the second time tonight, having been too deep thought to even notice him. he watches you with amusement as he comes over to stand in front of you, eyes never once moving.
“i’m not doing anything.”
“liar,” his gaze bore into your face as his finger probes your chin up, making you look directly at him, “what’s wrong now?"
silence.
“what are we?” those words come out before you could even process it, surprising not only him but also yourself. so many times have you brought up a similar topic but time after time, the man would laugh about it and sweep it under the couch.
but you’ve finally done it, asking him the one question you’ve been wanted to for so long.
“is that why you’ve been sulky all night?”
“i’m serious sunghoon.”
“you don’t like what we’re doing?” the man takes a step closer, hand naturally grabbing hold of your waist, bringing you flat against him. he leans in but you hurry to turn away, much to his amusement, “you don’t like the secrecy? you don’t like the fact that you get me and these women don’t?”
“so we’re going to live like this forever? in secrecy?”
“okay fine. lets get married. is that what you want to hear?”
“what-” you were left speechless, not only at the suggestion of marriage but because of the sudden cockiness in his tone, “why can’t you take me serious for once?”
“i am serious.”
“you know that’s not possible. our parents are married, what will people think of the company and you?”
“then i’ll quit and we’ll run away. simple.”
“sunghoon. you’re the ceo, you can’t just quit-”
“i can’t do this, i can’t do that,” he interrupts you mid sentence, his tone evidently higher than before. you know when he’s not happy and right now, he’s definitely not. “i became the fucking ceo for you, i don’t know what else i can do. so tell me. what do you want from me?”
silence overtakes the conversation as you both stand there, eyes glued on each other, his hand no longer on your waist. the unspoken tension is so heavy, you feel suffocated, like there’s so much weighing down on your chest.
“i only want what’s best for you sunghoon,” you finally mutter up the courage to talk, not wanting to drag it on for any longer. “i’m going to study abroad. i’ll be leaving next week.”
end.
Raven:..I’m already feeling sick and I’m not even in the building yet..
Jason: okay we’re leaving.
Dick: yeah we can go anywhere else. Heck there is an Italian place across the street.
Raven: y’all don’t have to do that.
Dami: Beloved your health is more important than some fucking fish
Steph: agreed.
Dick: And are you okay rn? Do you need some water or anything? You said you felt sick
Raven: no..no I’m okay
Dami: you sure? Cause we can get you some if your not feeling good
Raven: I’m okay..really.
Dick: if you say so..
Steph: Btw, do you do this often?
Raven: do what?
Steph: put your health last instead of speaking up?
Raven:……
Steph: I’ll take that as a yes
*everyone gets back in the car*
Dick: wait if you’re allergic to sea food, than what do you do when there’s a crab boil at the tower?
Raven: lock myself in my room and try not to vomit..or pretend to eat and keep my epi pen close..
Bruce: does Kori not know about this?
Raven:..no
Selina: why not?
Raven: cause I didn’t want to bother anyone with it..
Selina: *sighs* I’m calling her later
Raven: I’m sorry..
Dami: beloved you have nothing to apologize for. It’s okay
Raven: but everyone seemed so happy about sea food and I ruined it
Jason: girl no you didn’t. It’s okay
Raven: but—
Tim: no buts. Hey we can’t eat Chinese when Cass is around, and we keep it away from her at all times. we have no issues with that. And We have no problem doing the same for you.
Cass: *signs* yeah, your family now. We take care of each other
Raven:..🥹
Dami: *kisses her cheek* your stuck with us Beloved.
Jason: yeah. Now, let’s get some pizza!
(forgot to write in the prompts before) but smut prompts 18 & 21 for Dunner?? like a jealous make-up sex scenario??
Hope you enjoy this!!!
“So what’s with you and Vince? Did you guys finally call it quits?”
You flinched a little at the mention of his name but nodded “Yeah we’re done. For real this time.”
It had been just over 2 months since you’d officially broken up and it was still a sensitive subject. You’d broken up over the phone just before he came home and now going into early July, you still hadn’t seen him.
And you were glad.
The last thing you wanted to do was see his stupid face, especially after the bitter breakup and the way things went down because you definitely were not over him. If anything, the last two months had been especially hard for you, but you were finally coming out of it the last week or so. You’d even started casually dating someone new, more as a distraction than anything but the guy was okay. He was no Vince, but he was decent and he’d been successfully keeping your mind off things.
Until 5 minutes ago.
There he was fucking up your night at the party you kind of knew he’d be at, but you still couldn’t believe he was 10 feet away.
“Ech” you downed your drink and tossed the cup in the trash turning to your friends “I’m leaving.”
“No come on-“
“No seriously. I don’t wanna see him.” You waved goodbye to your friends and made your way out of the house and outside, down the front walk to where you had parked.
“Hey.” You stopped and turned, annoyed to find Vince coming up behind you, half in shadow.
“What do you want?”
He chuckled and came to a stop in front of you “I miss you too.”
“Ha ha.” You sneered taking a step backwards towards your car “I don’t miss you. Do you need something or can I go?” You turned away from him but he caught your wrist.
“What’s your hurry? Off to see your new boyfriend?” You froze and turned slowly back to him as he nodded “Don’t play dumb. You had to know I was gonna find out about that. Since when?”
“He’s not my boyfriend. He’s just a guy.”
“Yeah just a guy.” He looked a little mad “We break up for a few months and already you’re fucking someone else? Guess I know where I stand.”
“You don’t know anything, and I’m not fucking anyone okay Vince?” You yanked your hand away, eyes blazing with anger “That’s your thing.”
“What did you say?” He leaned forward and frowned.
“I said, that’s your thing. I hear you’ve been in bed with every girl in town since you came home.”
“I haven’t been with any girls since I-“
“You know what Vince.” You said waving your hand to cut him off “Fucking save it okay. We’re done, it’s over now I’m leaving.”
You turned to your car but he spun you around, pressing you up against it. Your brain was screaming at you to push him away but you just couldn’t as he leaned in and pulled you into a very long heated kiss.
Stop stop stop stop
Your brain continued to yell, but it was no use. Before you knew it you were tangled up in the backseat of your SUV, with no pants on.
You reached out to grab on to something so Vince could pull your underwear down and missed the handle, fingers streaking down the foggy window. You fell forward catching yourself on the headrest instead as he pulled them over your ankles, pulling you down so you were on your back and ya king his own jeans down. He pulled one of your legs and pushed the other one away from it, stopping just before he pushed inside you. You picked up your head.
“What-what are you doing?”
“I’m going to fuck you until you forget that assholes name” he said lowly.
“Vince I-ahhhhhhhhh.”
You gasped out as he pushed in without warning before pulling out and doing it again “I’m going to ruin you” he whispered in your ear, tongue sliding over the skin of your neck.
You felt like you were going to explode as his pushes became almost too much but you never wanted him to stop. He was breathing heavily in your ear, breath hot on your skin, and a thin sheen of sweat had appeared on both of you as you started to feel a warm sensation between your legs and you closed your eyes. A blinding orgasm hit you both at the same time and you cried out as it surged through your body, nails gripping the skin of his shoulders.
“Jesus Christ.” He breathed out, breath ragged as he leaned his forehead against your chest. It was quiet a few moments as he pulled out and handed you your underwear. You sat there staring at him, clearing your throat before you spoke “As nice as this was I have a date later soooo….”
Vince whipped his head towards you and looked mad until you smiled and giggled a little.
“That’s not funny.” He said shaking his head.
“It was a little funny.”
“So about that guy anyways-“
“What guy?”
“The guy your dating. What’s his name?”
“No idea.” He was looking at you, small smile spreading across his face and leaned back a little smugly.
“Mission accomplished.”
Hmmm thinking thoughts about Modern Clegan Break Up Fight AU
Just the pair getting into a fight because Bucky wants to go public about their relationship, but Buck doesn't understand why. Their close friends know, and they know. Who else needs to know? Buck asks this, and Bucky says he wants everyone to know. He wants to do all the cheesy romance shit like meeting the parents and siblings and stuff. Bucky wants to go to parties or events with Buck as his date. He wants to go out on public dates where people see them and know. Buck says he likes their private dates, and he likes how they don't have to be a side show for the people they go to school with (university not high school).
They go back and forth until finally Bucky bursts out that he wants everyone to know because he doesn't want to be the one left behind anymore. Bucky's the good time guy, or so everyone who's ever hooked up with him or gone out with him has said. He's scared that Buck will eventually agree with them (like Buck ever would but Bucky is scared). So now he wants to prove to Gale that he's serious about this, serious about them.
But, Buck's scared in his own way. His dad's still in the picture, and he would rather die than let his shitty excuse for a father anywhere near Bucky. Because his dad is the type to show up and try to teach the boy dating his son a lesson. Except he doesn't say that to Bucky. He says John I don't want to go public with this.
Poor Bucky takes that the exact wrong way. Usually he can read Buck like the back of his hand, but right now he's too emotional and stuck in his own head. He can't see past the facade right now. They start to really argue, building off of each other's energy until finally Bucky says that he can't be with someone who feels like they have to hide being in love with him.
Bucky storms out saying they're over. Heads back to his apartment where he tries to calm down and breathe. He goes and drinks some water to calm down. Except he accidently slices his hand open dropping his water glass. He gets blood all over his bathroom trying to fix it. That's how Curt finds him.
Curt is Bucky's roommate. He wasn't even supposed to be there that weekend. He was actually supposed to be in a different state for a concert the next night, but he forgot his wallet and turned back around after only being on the road for an hour. He finds Bucky bleeding and crying his eyes out, telling himself that that's what he gets for trying to be more than a good time. Curt goes into lockdown mode cause that's bullshit. He cleans Bucky up, and when Bucky looks at him with bright teary eyes and says he and Buck broke up, it's heartbreaking. Bucky sniffles and says he doesn't know what to do because he can't face anyone after this. Curt stuffs Bucky into his car and books it. Bucky forgets his cellphone in the apartment in the rush to get out of there. He realizes it a few hours later when it's too late to turn back.
Buck, meanwhile, has had his panic attack and calmed down. He knows that neither of them were in a good place for that argument, and he gives Bucky some space (a few hours) before he shows up to try and talk to him again. Only Bucky isn't at his apartment, and when Buck can't find him at any of the parties or bars on campus or with their mutual friends, he starts to get scared. Bucky's phone goes straight to voicemail over and over again. Buck goes back and breaks in (uses the spare key Bucky gave him) only to stumble upon an apartment trashed and covered with blood. He freaks out and calls everyone he can think of. Everyone joins the search, and it turns into a whole thing.
Hospitals get called, and then the cops get called, who since they're college town cops are suitably useless. Buck spends the next three days thinking Bucky hurt himself or was hurt bad enough he can't make it to one of their friends or a hospital.
Bucky is having a lovely time by the way. He managed to get a ticket to the concert, maybe Curt had an extra, and it's a great band. He's still heartbroken, but sometimes you just have to scream along to some artist you only learned about yesterday cause it's better than crying. He and Curt end up so hungover the next day that they don't get on the road back to their university until it's super late. They don't tell anyone they got back in town and pass out not knowing everyone in their life thinks Bucky is missing.
Bucky shows up to classes the next day, and he doesn't understand why Brady loses his shit when he sees Bucky walking around campus like their entire friend group hasn't been losing their shit all weekend. Brady drags him away even though Bucky's whining about missing his morning class.
Big reunion scene back at Bucky's apartment where Buck breaks down in tears because he's just so fucking relieved Bucky is okay. They work through their shit, and Bucky has to promise never to go on anymore impromptu road trips.
Tumblr media
genre: fluff/angst
wc: 1.9k
a/n: thank you guys for loving this! i don't feel as if im too good at telling stories but im glad you guys enjoy it hehe sorry if i missed anyone on the tags as well!!!!
part two
Who even knew video stores were still a thing? You surely didn't think they were — you were almost certain they died out in the late 2000s with the rise of streaming services. Every store around town seemed to be shuttered up. But Ellie, being the cool girl she is, somehow knows of a still operating movie store. You have to admit, putting in a DVD somehow feels cooler than pulling it up on Netflix. There was something about the sound of the DVD player that made you a little giddy. The giddiness was totally not because of the girl standing in front of you.
Totally not.
She raises her eyebrows when the tray slides back into her DVD player, "Super cool, huh? Feels... retro." She lets out a shaky breath while rubbing the back of her neck. She makes her way over to the couch — plopping down, making your body slide closer to her. Her scent fluttered over your nose. She smelled woody and like coffee.
On brand.
You still couldn't believe you were sitting in Ellie's living room. The room smelled similar to her minus the coffee smell. The room wasn't necessarily tidy but it wasn't overly dirty. There wasn't trash everywhere but random trinkets were scattered over the surfaces. There were hoodies thrown over the backs of chairs and a couple of empty water bottles on her coffee table. Lived in is what you would describe it as. There were a couple of picture frames on a mantel above her TV but the room was too dark to make out the figures.
"I haven't watched anything on DVD in like, I don't know, years." You let out a small laugh as the home screen pulls up. It was a movie you have never heard of, but it looked similar to Star Wars. Grand music filled the room before she turned the sound down a bit.
Ellie nods at your words, "I love it," You turn your head to look at her. There was a giddy look in her eyes you have never seen before, "Going to the video store is, like, my number one hobby."
You laugh at the ridiculousness of that statement, "What about making coffee?"
Ellie clicks the 'Play Movie' option and a bright light flashes over her face as the commercials play before the movie. You forgot movies used to have commercials even on the home versions.
She rolls her eyes playfully at your question, "Making coffee is my job. Even though I love it, I definitely don't want to think of it once I'm out of there."
"I get that."
A comfortable silence falls between the two of you. It's hard not to stare at her through your peripheral. All you wanted to do was stare at her. You feel her legs pressed against yours, her legs spread a little more than yours. You take in a deep breath so you don't freak out at the contact.
God, is this middle school?
You shift your eyes slowly over to her figure, just wanting to take a tiny little peek. She was too pretty not to look at. It wasn't weird to look casually, right? When your eyes connect with hers, though, you rip them away while you blink rapidly.
Shit, she was already looking?
A pounding feeling against your chest makes it nearly impossible to focus on the now-playing movie. A spaceship rips through outer space as the main actor barks orders at his crew on the ship. Techno music plays in the background. You had no clue what was happening as a little vermin-looking creature started speaking in a made up language.
Was she still looking? Surely she had to be focusing on the movie she chose. She looked so excited to start it. She definitely wasn't staring at you anymore.
You slowly move your eyes across the room and slightly turn your head to look at her. Your eyes connect with her green eyes once more but instead of looking away, you keep them there. You can feel your face flush under the intense gaze she has you under.
Ellie's eyes widen once she realizes you weren't going to look away. Another flash from the TV illuminates her features. You could tell that she was blushing. Neither of you looked away even as the tension built.
She was so cute.
"I can't," She starts, voice barely more than a whisper, "I can't focus on this."
You smile at her, "I definitely have no clue what is going on," Ellie smiles at your honesty, "Turn it off. We can just talk."
Ellie seems to like your suggestion as she reaches her hand out and presses the off button on the remote. She fully turns toward you. Your knees knock against each other with how close the proximity is.
Ellie rubs her hands together while a breathy laugh escapes her lips, "I guess I'll ask the question that's been burning me the most."
A laugh bubbled out of your throat, "What is this 21 questions?" Ellie joins your laughter at the realization of what she's doing, "Go ahead, I guess. I might have an answer for you."
"What's your major? And... why did you decide to come into my coffee shop that day?"
"Woah, these are... really hard-hitting questions." You sarcastically reply. Ellie pushes your shoulder lightly with a chuckle. She mutters, Shut up' before looking back at you with expectant eyes. There was a glint in her eyes.
You loved the way she looked at you.
"I'm a literature major, boring I know, and the reason I went in is that my friend dragged me there," Ellie acts fake offended at your response, "I actually hate coffee."
Ellie gawks at the last part, "You what?"
You throw up your hands in surrender, "Don't hate me. It is just so nasty to me."
"I feel as if you have just shot me. You always order something," Ellie's hand goes over her heart in a dramatic manner, "But if I'm being honest, I don't really like it either."
You shoot up from your position. Ellie may have been faking shock but this was true for you, "What do you mean? You own the coffee shop!"
Ellie copies your surrender motion, "I know. I know. The only reason I opened the shop, well became a barista in the first place, is because my dad really loves coffee," You can feel your heart melt at the kind words, "Gave us something to bond over."
"That's really cute, Ellie." You look at her with eyes gushing with love. You hoped she couldn't tell how infatuated you were becoming with her.
"I know, I'm adorable," She leans in closer as if she's about to reveal a huge secret to you, "You do realize we have other drinks than coffee, right?"
She laughs at the way your face pales and how your eyes widen, "Oh my god!"
Her laugh was perfect.
It was becoming impossible to ignore your feelings for much longer. Each moment was another reason to fall for her. She was extremely sentimental and super observant, remembering the tiny details. Ellie was the first to notice if you parted your hair a different way or did a new thing with your makeup. It made your heart soar with happiness when she remembered another tiny detail from you.
Throughout the rest of the night, you guys talked about random things on that stupid couch situated against the wall. You talked about her love of space and how she wishes she could see the stars up close at least once. You talked about your worries and fears, things you wanted to do when you grew up, and the things that make you happiest.
You got closer to her with each passing second, knocking knees turned into your legs thrown over hers. That turned into you scooting closer (almost sitting on her lap) and your head leaning against her shoulder.
You weren't sure when you fell asleep. All you knew was it was the most comfortable you felt in a while.
--
Burning light was what woke you up. It definitely wasn't how you wanted to wake up, much preferring the smell of food cooking. Damn those stupid curtains for being pulled back. You furrow your eyebrows at the blinding light, not yet used to the morning sun. Your hand shoots out to feel around where you were. Still on the couch but no Ellie. You blink the bleariness away from your eyes while wondering where Ellie went.
There's slight muttering coming from the kitchen, it's hushed but urgent. There she is but you can't make out what or who she is talking to. You sit up from your laying position, back aching from sleeping on the tiny couch. Your ears strain to hear the conversation.
"Wasn't really expecting... come home... random girl!" That definitely wasn't Ellie's voice. It was too high-pitched and sweet.
"...Quiet... still sleeping... been broken up... had no right." There was the voice you came to know.
Curiosity filled your mind at the quiet talking in the kitchen. She never mentioned a roommate while talking to you last night. You fully push yourself off of the couch and creep your way to the area they were in. Ellie's back was turned from you so you got a glimpse of who she was talking to.
It was a shorter girl with black hair with an angry expression painted on her features. Her eyes landed on you and she scoffed.
Oh shit. She was furious.
"Great," Her voice cut the tense silence, "Now she's walking around as if this is her house."
Ellie whipped around with a look that made your heart stutter. It looked as if she had been caught doing something wrong.
She gave you an apologetic look, "Cat, can you for once..." She cut herself off, reaching out to you, "Hey, listen-"
You decided to cut her off this time while stepping back, "You never told me you had a girlfriend. This changes a lot, Ellie."
Cat scoffs again at your words. Her arms cross over her chest as she mutters, 'Good god, Ellie.' Ellie gives her a pointed look before turning back to you.
"I can fully explain this." Ellie's words are punctuated by the movement of her hands. They were shaking slightly.
'She's just stunned that she was caught,' an evil voice in your head bounced around.
You shake your head, "No need to." You turn on your heels ready to get the hell out of the tense situation. Ellie calls your name but once you are out the front door she doesn't make any moves to run after you.
"Great," You roll your eyes trying to ignore the feeling of your heart shattering, "This is fucking great."
You couldn't wait to talk to Dina.
After sharing a spontaneous kiss at a party, Billy made it his mission to never see Steve Harrington again. He even resorted to anti-stalking that pretty, plump lipped, soft hair, gorgeous, chocolatey eyed—anyway...did everything he could to stay away from him.
Billy knew what time Steve went to work, and what hours he worked. He knew the places he liked to frequent, all so he could avoid him at any cost.
He even went out of his way to make sure they weren't even on the road at the same time.
But it was a small town, so even when Billy thought he'd successfully avoided Steve, Steve spotted those blonde curls through the window of his Camaro a time or 2. Steve would deflate every time he saw Billy, because he knew Billy wasn't even trying to notice his existence.
Yet, time stood still for Steve. Every so often he'd feel his heart race and the lingering, tingling feeling of Billy's lips against his—soft, yet aggressive, hungry, but savoring. He wanted it back. He wanted it again. But Billy only wanted to forget about him and that kiss.
And just as time stood still for Steve, it still moved. Months, and months, and months had gone by. The season had changed and it was getting colder by the day.
Billy was the first thing on Steve's mind every morning when he woke up, until finally, he became the second. He slowly became a passing thought and Steve was finally finding some peace.
Until one snowy night, when Billy shows up on his doorstep with a beer and a black eye, slurring his words and incomprehensibly begging Steve to let him in.
Steve, against his better judgement, let Billy's drunk ass stumble into his house and offered him some coffee to sober him up, which he accepted with a nonchalant shrug.
Steve casually offered Billy some ice for the shiner, which he also accepted with a shrug.
"You get into a bar fight or something?" Steve finally asked.
"If by bar you mean my house...and fight you mean dad punched me, then yeah. I got into a bar fight." He mumbled in response.
"Why did he hit you?" Steve questioned.
"Eh...I dunno what set 'em off this time." Billy waved his hand. "Don't care. C'n I go piss?"
Steve nodded, pointing to the bathroom down the hall.
Billy waddled his way to the bathroom, slamming the door.
Steve let out a heavy sigh and decided to make himself a cup of coffee too. Just when he was finally trying to get Billy off his mind, he shows up at his house.
But now wasn't the time for that. The poor guy obviously needed some assistance and a safe place to sober up.
When he returned from the bathroom, he tried to finish the cup of coffee, hardly able to stomach it.
"You...need a place to crash?"
"Can I? Your couch's much better than home."
"You don't—I mean...there's...a bed. You can...sleep in my bed. I—I'll take the couch." Steve stammered on, hating himself for flubbing his words like an idiot.
"Nah." Billy shook his head. "I'll take the couch, Harrington."
"I insist. If you fall off the couch you'll get hurt. You're too drunk—"
"I've been drunk before, asshole. I'm not a dummy."
"I know, I just..." Steve let out an elongated sigh. He was so hung up on that kiss, he forgot how much of a meathead Hargrove was.
"m'I botherin' you?" Billy questioned. "I can just go sleep in my car."
"No. It's not that you're bothering me. It's...why have you been avoiding me?"
"What?" Billy narrowed his eyes.
"I know you've been trying to avoid me. I haven't seen you since the night we..."
"We what?"
"Oh." The realization settled in. "Oh. You...were drunk and you don't remember."
"I remember, Steve. But I want you to say it." Billy leaned across the counter, smugly smizing at Steve. "What's been renting space in your mind all this time?"
"The—when we kissed at the party. You kissed me and then I never saw you again!"
"I d’no what I was thinking. We don’t even get along. But beer pong was fun, trash talkin’ and pushin’ you around was fun. I guess—I like guys like you.”
“Guys like me?”
“Y’know.” Billy chuckled. “Pretty. Kinda dumb. Competitive.”
“I’m not dumb!” Steve raised his voice indignantly.
“Y’let me kiss you. So yeah, you’re fucking dumb.” Billy smirked.
“I’m not! I just—maybe I like guys like you too.”
Billy moseyed around the counter and stood in front of Steve, yanking him in by his collar and kissing him like they were continuing where they left off.
Steve melted into the kiss immediately, remembering every sound and even how the light felt on his face at the party, when his eyes fluttered closed as tongues gently touched.
Suddenly, Steve pushed Billy away. “Don’t kiss me like that if you’re just gonna run away again.” He met him with pained eyes.
“I’m not gonna run away again. If anything, you’re probably the only person I can run to.” Billy admitted, his voice quiet and nervous.
Steve palmed Billy’s cheek, the digits of his finger ghosting his swollen eye. “You’ll always be safe with me. I promise.”
Their lips met once more, and Billy’s hands made their way to Steve’s hips.
“Sleep next to me.” Steve offered, his lips still pressed to Billy.
“I can’t.” Billy mumbled in response.
“Why?”
“Because I won’t be able to keep my hands off you.”
They chuckled against each other’s lips.
“That’s fine. I don’t care. As long as you’ll still be here in the morning.”
“I’ll never run from you again.” Billy promised.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Steve worriedly asked.
“Wasn’t the first, won’t be the last.” He solemn expression changed as he smiled. “Just like that kiss.”
“Glad to hear it. I haven’t kissed anyone since.”
“You haven’t?”
Steve shook his head. “I only wanted you all these months. I couldn’t get you out of my head.”
“I haven’t kissed anyone else either.” Billy looked downward. “I guess I pussied out.”
“Emotions are confusing. And kinda scary. But we’ll figure it out together, yeah?”
Billy nodded, stumbling behind Steve as he led him upstairs to his bedroom to make up for lost time.
Sixteen: Give Me Your Goddamn Kutte!
Charles Leclerc x Nova Teller (OC)
Till the wheels fall off masterlist
Small town meets the fast lane. What happens when two souls meet? Will it end in happiness or will they both crash and burn?
Warning; Jax loses his shit
As always reblogs and feedback is highly appreciated ❤️ if you want tagging in future parts let me know ❤️
Tumblr media
Juice kept quiet as Jax planted his hand firmly on his shoulder, he didn’t care if he was squeezing the muscle like it was a piece of paper ready to be tossed into the trash can. The whole club pulled their weight, paying their dues each month and making sure all the businesses are fit to make as much money as possible, yet for some reason Juice decided that he could be the one to slack off.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the cutest sight, Elenor sitting on Nova’s knee whilst Charles had his arm wrapped around his sister’s shoulder and with the other hand he was helping Elenor color in whichever coloring book she had brought with her. He felt his heart flip watching the three of them together. The only thing was worried about was when Charles had to leave for the rest of the racing season, he knew it was going to not only break his sister’s heart but also his daughter’s as well.
Pushing the thoughts down, he tightened his grip on Juice’s shoulder, marching him into the kitchen. Jax was no longer playing around with the giant man baby.
This was his livelihood he was playing with now.
The moment they walked into the kitchen a heavy silence fell over the room as Juice backed himself into the corner, “you had so many fucking chances,” Jax growled, slamming his palms against the stainless steel counter, watching as Juice winced at the sound echoing around the room. “I stuck my fucking neck out on the line for you,” he paused for a moment taking in the guilty look that was taking over Juice’s expressions, “but you didn’t know that, did you?”
“No,” Juice muttered quietly, dropping his gaze down to his feet.
“The first time you fucked up Nova wanted me to kick your ass to the curb,” Jax snarled, gripping the edge of the worktop so tightly his knuckles were starting to turn white, “then the second time, I lied for you! Once again so Nova didn’t fucking chop your dick off, and this is how you repay me?”
Jax could feel his blood pressure rising, he knew his voice would be echoing around the room, no doubt everyone in the bar heard every word he was saying, but right now he couldn’t see past the rage, especially when Juice burst out laughing.
“Please tell me you aren’t fucking laughing right now?” Jax spat lunging across the room, wrapping his hand around Juice’s throat, slamming him against the stainless steel cabinets. “Look at me,” he growled, venom dripping on his every word. Juice ignored Jax’s demands, “I said fucking look at me you piece of shit. Fucking explain yourself.”
“I thought it was okay seen as Nova is suddenly swanning around with that fucking Formula One driver!” Juice snapped, narrowing his eyes at Jax.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” Jax roared, there was no way he was blaming his sister right now. “Nova fucking runs herself into the ground for this family and this club. If you have forgotten she was running the bar and the cafe for nearly the best part of a year. She hardly fucking slept, she lives off energy drinks and there were about three times she nearly put herself in hospital due to exhaustion and on the fourth time she ended up in the ER from the amount of caffeine she had, but we kept that quiet from you all because you didn’t need to know!” Jax paused for a moment, taking a breath, “oh, I forgot she's been the main carer for JT. So yes, I believe she is the one who deserves to have the summer off, maybe even fall in love, and I was the one to tell her to take a step back.”
Juice didn’t speak, the guilty look on his face had disappeared as quickly as it appeared, instead he was smirking. Jax couldn’t believe he hadn’t noticed this before, the Puerto Rican was high right now. Without thinking he balled his fingers into a fist before raising his arm letting his knuckles collide with Juice’s jaw, “you are a fucking joke right now, showing up high and trying to bring down my sister.”
“Whatcha gonna do? Beat me?”
“I should fucking bury you!” Jax snarled, releasing his grip of Juice’s throat taking a couple of steps back, running his fingers through his hair, fixing a couple of strands of hair that had fallen out of place, “give me your goddamn kutte!”
Juice stared back at Jax in slight disbelief, but his movements were fast as he ripped off the well worn leather hanging on his shoulders, “do you know what Jackson, fuck you!” Juice snapped, launching the kutte on the tiled floor like it was a piece of litter to him. “Everything is about you and fucking Nova, neither of you fucking care about anyone else,” he seethed, narrowing his eyes at Jax, “she isn’t the only one trying to keep their head above water, running multiple businesses.”
He took a step closer to Jax, who was standing there in shock at the sudden outburst from someone Jax thought he knew, turns out he didn’t, “you are actually doing me a favor,” Juice scoffed, running his hand over his face, “I can actually work less to support myself instead of this stupid fucking club.”
“Juicy Boy.”
“Don’t fucking Juicy Boy me,” he snapped, glaring at Jax, “Nova has been looking for a reason to kick me to the curb, no one ever fucking checked on me, it was all about precious Nova! Do you know what screw you Jax and screw the club, all this means is I don’t have to keep providing everyone with weed at a heavily discounted rate meaning my goddam takings at my shop will double!” Juice was now pacing the room but suddenly stopped turning to face Jax with a wide smirk on his face, “plus I will get to keep all my own profits.”
Jax felt his expression drop, running his fingers through his hair. His stomach twisted into a tight knot as he realized that Juice was telling the truth.
“You forgot the shop was in my name, not the clubs, didn’t you?” Juice chuckled, as he made his way to the fire exit, “everyone is working themselves to the fucking bone for this club and for what? You don’t even see what's happening in front of your own eyes! Thanks for nothing, I guess, so much for the fucking brotherhood,” he spat before leaving Jax standing in the kitchen frozen to the spot.
His head was spinning, Juice had never kicked off like this before. Leaning against the stainless steel worktop Jax let out a strangled cry. This wasn’t what he needed on the day of the fundraiser but everything Juice said had struck a nerve with him, maybe he was right, maybe he was too focused on the Teller bubble to notice all the other things that were happening around him.
Did everyone feel like this towards him and Nova?
Were they all putting on a front around them?
“Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!” he screamed, turning towards the refrigerator letting his fist collide with the metal, not caring about the pain that seared through his knuckles, he kept punching the appliance trying to release the frustration building up in his body.
The music had been turned up to drown out the sounds of the argument of Jax and Juice but nothing could mask the painful screams that echoed through the building. Running my hands over my face I pressed a kiss against the top of Elenor’s head, “Ça vous dérange de la surveiller pendant que je m'occupe de Jax ? You mind keeping an eye on her while I take care of Jax?” I asked Charles and Pierre but keeping my gaze focused on behind the bar.
“Tout va bien ? Is everything ok?” Charles asked softly, running his fingers over the back of my neck.
“Not sure yet,” I sighed, taking a deep breath, “if you can just watch her whilst I go see if Jax is okay that would be great.”
“Of course, Sunshine,” Pierre teased, with a wide smirk on his face.
Rolling my eyes at him, I shuffled Elenor so she was now sitting on the leather sofa. “Why don’t you go show Charles and Pierre your fairy garden?” I asked softly, finally looking down at the sweet innocent girl.
“Wait, you have a fairy garden?” Charles exclaimed, making me smile. No one could doubt he was good with Elenor, “come on then, lead the way Little Bear,” he grinned, holding his hand out. My heart fluttered watching her happily take his hand along with the bright grin that appeared on her face at the sound of the nickname Charles called her.
Pulling the sleeves of Charles hoodie over my hands I slowly made my way towards the kitchen, there were no sounds of arguing anymore so that had to be a good sign right? Either Juice had left or Jax completely lost his temper and Juice’s body would be lying on the floor.
Taking a deep breath I pushed the door open, finding Jax slumped on the floor, his fingers tangled in his hair, tugging at his roots, “fuck, Jax, what happened?” I breathed, panic flooding my body, I had never seen him like this before.
In front of me sat the shell of the man I loved.
“Talk to me,” I whispered, crouching down in front of my brother.
“We fucked up Squirt,” he muttered, letting out a heavy sigh before pushing himself to his feet, storming out of the kitchen.
What the fuck was he on about?
How did we fuck up?
For once it felt like things were finally changing for the better, I was finally getting some sleep, everything felt like it was under control and I had finally met someone who made me feel so many emotions, who set my world on fire and I didn’t want to extinguish the flames. It was like always life had a funny way of kicking me to the ground, leaving me in the dirt.
Letting out a shaky breath I quickly followed my older brother, the moment I stepped through the fire escape I felt the warmth of the sun hit my skin making me rethink my choice of clothing this morning.
“Jaxy,” I hummed, dropping down to the floor joining him on the patio, “talk to me, what's going on?”
“You are gonna hate me for this,” he growled into the air, placing a cigarette between his lips before passing the packet to me, “we might have been too harsh on Juice.”
I practically choked on the first inhale of the cigarette, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Had Jax hit his head or something? “Please tell me this is some fucking joke?” I scoffed, resting my elbows on my knees, “he got in your head didn’t he?”
“Nova, just think about it. We have been so caught up with Pops, the whole messy divorce and custody battle with Tara. For the past year at least we have been fighting to keep our family from drowning,” he sighed, taking a long drag of the smoke. “We failed to notice that everyone else was working their fucking asses off for us, for the club. I think we need to hire more people, a lot more.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, Jax was willing to let random outsiders come in and work the businesses the club had worked so hard to build. I felt like I was losing control and there was nothing I could do about it.
The more I thought about it, the more appealing packing everything into a duffle bag, tossing it into the trunk of my beat up truck and hitting the road without a second glance. In the same breath I knew I was tied to this small town in the middle of nowhere, there was no way I could walk away from my family.
“We aren’t talking about this now,” I scoffed, pushing myself to my feet, “we have less than an hour before that bar is full of people wanting to take part in the annual fundraiser. So take a breath, beat the shit out of the garbage can or something but you need your game face on.”
“Nova,” Jax called out to me as tossed the cigarette butt into the metal bin.
“Not the time Jax,” I hollered over my shoulder as I moved around the building going to find Charles, Pierre and Elenor.
My head was spinning, I was happy enough to welcome Nero into the business with open arms because he was practically family but to welcome strangers in, well that was a different matter entirely. Taking a deep breath I made my way towards the one person that could drown out the voices, my worries and fears.
The warmth of the sun didn’t match the feeling that spread through my body as Charles smiled at me, I was falling hard for him. It was like I had jumped out of a plane without a parachute and the ground was coming at me faster than ever.
My stomach twisted into a tight knot the closer I got to him. Everything was suddenly clear, I was becoming addicted and my drug was Charles Leclerc.
Can You Shoot & Score?
PART ONE.
Summary: You don't listen to Jack Harlow but because your friend is seeing his best friend you find yourself at his concert and at the center of his attention.
A/N: This is a three parter, so stay tuned!
Tumblr media
“You’re coming,” Your roommate practically begs, “Y/N please for me! I literally never ask you to go anywhere and I’m literally on my knees.”
“I don’t even listen to him, besides that one song.” You shake your head, “And I don’t know if I can be the best wing woman.”
Jack Harlow is in town and for the past few months on and off your roommate has been messaging with his best friend or photographer… you’re not really sure but you do remember his name because of how random it was. Urban.
“I will literally play Animal Crossing with you for an entire month, please! Just the show and the club after and you will get me to fully dive into the game you’ve been wanting me to play for the longest.”
“Way to make me sound boring.” You stick out your tongue.
“So?”
It’s silent for a bit before you eventually melt, “Fine. But I’m wearing what I want to wear.”
Nina, your roomie practically jumps up and down in a fit of glee. “Yay and fine! You could literally wear a trash bag and still look hot.”
So that’s how you ended up being escorted from the box office all the way to the backstage area, backstage passes plastered on both you and Nina.
It’s awkward at first when you walk into a room crowded with girls wearing full on club outfits, you slowly begin to feel self conscious with your choice of clothing. Your trusty pair of Levi’s and a random black mesh tank. You slowly lean into Nina, “Did not know we were going to a Fashion Nova runway show.”
Nina giggles, “You look beautiful.”
You recognize Urban first, Nina had shown you his instagram first. He completely disregards all the girls lingering and walks up to Nina with a huge smile on his face and a cherry wrapped joint behind his ear.
He hugs her tightly and you smile, you can’t hear what he says but she smiles and he gives her the blunt.
“This is Y/N, Y/N this is Urban.” Urban smiles, and for a second you see his eyes dart behind you wiggling his eyebrows a bit before snapping back.
“S’nice to meet you, did you need anything? We got some drinks over there and some chicken sandwiches and oh shit do you smoke? I got Neens her favorite but I completely forgot to ask if you had any preferences.”
You melt at Urban’s nickname for Nina and shake your head, “Thank you but no. I don’t smoke, I get paranoid and I’m not a big fan of alcohol.”
“Respect.” Urban nods, “What about a chicken sandwich?”
“Sure.” You shrug.
Urban leads you over to a whole buffet, constantly looking over your shoulder. “Help yourself to anything,” Glance, “Literally anything.” Glance, “Give me a second I’ll be right back.”
Urban leaves and you look down, giggling at the Jack Harlowified wraps of the KFC chicken sandwiches.
“It’s funny huh?” An unfamiliar voice says from beside you.
You look up and then back at the wrapper and then back up, “They kinda did you dirty, you look like the unabomber.” You immediately cover your mouth with your hand, “I didn’t”
“Holy shit.” He laughs, “Okay, wow.”
“I didn’t mean to actually say that out loud.” You can feel your cheeks getting red.
“It’s fine,” He smiles looking back down at the rapper before laughing, “Shit you’re kinda right.”
You shake your head, “M’sorry I’m just gonna eat my chicken sandwich in the corner and stay quiet.”
“Wait no!” Jack says a little too eagerly for his liking, “Nah it’s cool… What's your name again?”
“I never said it, It’s Y/N.”
“Y/N…” Jack tests the name on his lips, “I like that name. It’s a nice name.”
“Thanks, I like the name Jack too. It reminds me of how obsessed I was with Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, so much that I had my parents buy me this onesie costume and I wore it almost every day for the entire month of April which is like an insanely random month to develop a hyperfixation on that and sometimes I ask myself like why not October or like even December? But then again I did watch Stand By Me over and over again from November to…” You immediately stop realizing how many words are coming out of your mouth, “Sorry.”
Jack has the cheesiest smile, loving every single word that’s coming out of your mouth. “No please continue, I was just going to say how I watched Save The Last Dance secretly every night for two months straight, I swore I was gonna pop out at my seventh grade winter formal like no other.”
You throw your head back in a fit of laughter, “I kid you not I used to stand in front of the T.V. and try and mimic every single one of Moose’s dance scenes from Step Up.”
“And how did that go? Can you move like him?”
You snort laughing, “Oh hell no. I have no rhythm. I was doomed from the start and I think if I remember correctly I dislocated a bone.”
Jack can’t stop laughing with you and neither can you. Everyone sees how deep the two of you are in conversation, laughs coming out every few seconds. Urban, all of Jack’s friends, and Nina are smiling watching from a distance. Meanwhile every other girl who had hope of a shot frowns with disappointment and jealousy.
You’re telling Jack about how you used to play basketball in high school when his eyes light up.
“Wait for reals, you used to play? You can shoot?” Jack has an up to no good look on his face.
“It’s been a while but I think so, I’m not the tallest but I have a good arm.” You shrug.
Jack nods, “Alright… alright. You’re gonna be watching from the side stage or were you gonna be in the crowd?”
You look over at Nina who’s staring at you already along with everyone else. You give her a confused look before turning back to Jack, “Uhm it’s honestly up to Nina, I came with her so…”
He nods as someone tells him he’s on in five.
“I hope you enjoy the show.” Jack gives you a wink, “And I really hope you can shoot.”
You don’t know what he means but before you can even ask you both are being dragged in different directions. Jack to his spot on stage and you to side stage to watch with Nina and Urban.
You’ve never really listened to his music but you find yourself enjoying the music. You laugh as he interacts with the crowd.
“We even got a basket up here and… a ball! Who thinks they can make it?”
The arena immediately roars in cheers, Jack laughs looking at all the raised hands. “Alright. Alright. There's no way y'all can all make it. Hmmm, you!” He points at a girl right at the front, “You think you can? Alright c’mon.  And you my boy in the middle you got it? Alright let's go. And mmm alright you look like you got the spirit you come up too!”
It’s sad to see all of the fans miss, but regardless they look happy that they were even up there getting to be near Jack.
You giggle as he nicely kicks the fans off joking about their lack of baskets before looking around, “You know I think I have another person who said they can shoot… Y/N, you wanna give it a try?”
Your eyes widen as the light moves to you, Jack pulling at your arm. “C’mon I need one person to make it. Everyone Y/N said she’s got it like that!”
The crowd cheers.
You shake your head, “What? No!”
“C’mon Y/N don’t make us go out sad!” Jack pouts at you, before turning back to the crowd, “Unless she doesn’t got it like that then I get it. She doesn't want to embarrass herself.”
“Embarrass myself?” Suddenly you don’t care that you’re stepping on a huge stage in front of almost 16,000 people. You grab the ball from Jack’s arms, “No one’s gonna embarrass themselves.”
“Oooh she got the ball! Let’s see if she makes it?” Jack taunts you to the crowd.
Oh you were gonna make it, best believe that. Suddenly you were back in your high school prime ready to make a free throw and within second it swishes into the basket graceful as fuck and you cant help but let out a small scream jumping up and down. You were never great with pressure, but it was nice to know you still had it.
You feel your feet lift off the floor as Jack picks you up, throwing you over his shoulder screaming. “Let’s goooooo!”
You cannot stop laughing as he runs all over the stage, before gently placing you down at the side of the stage. “Man everyone give it up for Y/N! She redeemed yall!” Jack tucks the mic behind him, “You’re too fucking good, I think I’m obsessed with you.”
He doesn’t even give you time to respond before he’s running back to the center of the stage getting into the next song.
Your mouth is open slightly in shock and a bit of confusion.
“Oh, he likes you bad girl.” Nina smirks.
Series masterlist • AO3
Thunderhead Gulch is an average plains town situated, as the name might suggest, over a gulch where a violent stream rumbles through otherwise quiet countryside. The rockiness of the area lends itself to pastureland and little else; herds of cattle roam and graze, and farmers with rough hands and kind eyes tend their flocks. The town’s storefronts are simple but well-kept, very much like the people who run them. It’s a place for good, honest people looking for good, honest work.
And it’s exactly where a perfect criminal lives.
Half a week’s worth of travel brought you here, all the while John asking questions you’ve done your best to avoid answering. An old friend from Tumbleweed, is all you’ve told him about the forger you’re meeting. Just a quick reunion and a job done right and we’re out of there. There’s no one else you’d trust to do this job right, but it’s been a long time. You can’t entirely blame John for the skeptical scowl on his face.
The curio shop you hitch your horses in front of is nestled into Thunderhead’s downtown like it’s been there forever, fit to burst with every secondhand oddity imaginable. Broken clocks and one-eyed dolls and discontinued dime novel serials line the front windows. Inside, a narrow and winding footpath from front to back is all that remains to customers. Every other square inch has been claimed by stacks upon stacks upon stacks of the curiosities this shop is named for.
You and John squeeze your way through the door to the cheerful tinkle of bells. Behind the counter lies a precarious stack of antique bear traps. There’s not a shopkeep in sight.
“Hello?” John calls out.
“In the back!” a muffled voice replies.
You smile in recognition. John’s expression is entirely mystified, but he takes the look on your face as his go-ahead to forge a path through, weaving around cracked China displays and rusted revolvers and moth-eaten wedding gowns.
Past all that, between stacks of other men’s trash and lost treasures, sits Lottie Reed.
Surprise colors her sharp, angular face the moment she looks up from the faded throw pillow she’s mending, and though time has wrought its changes you still recognize the wild spirit you met once upon a childhood ago in the depths of her seafoam eyes.
“Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a Ghost?” she asks. Her face is still surprised, still cautious, but a smile threatens the severity of her shock.
“I’m afraid your shop is terribly haunted, Miss,” you grin.
Just like that her needle and thread are thrown aside as she rushes in for a hug. Her wiry frame curls around you in a vice grip, stood on her tip-toes and clinging like if she holds tight enough you won’t be able to fade away like lost memory. You laugh and hug back warmly. It’s been too long.
John coughs uncomfortably after a moment.
“Oh, I clean forgot my manners,” you say, extricating yourself from Lottie’s embrace and taking a step back. “Lottie Reed, this is John Marston.” John gives a lukewarm smile. “John Marston, this is my old friend Lottie Reed. We grew up together.” Lottie extends her hand to shake.
“Good to meet you,” John says past his stiff shoulders and wary stare. “Ghost never mentioned much of you before.”
“We lost touch for a spell once I married and moved up here,” Lottie says. John raises his brows. You clear your throat. “Back in the day I earned a cut off stolen horseflesh for forging papers, but Melvin didn’t like me being a part of that life.”
As you recall, he didn’t like you being a part of Lottie’s life. The two of you lived fast and free before he came into the picture, a perfect suitor picked by her parents. Settled, property-owning, and respectable, Melvin was everything Lottie’s family ever imagined for their lettered daughter. You, a cast off orphan with nothing to your name but a government arrest warrant, were not.
“Wherever is Mr. Reed?”
“Dead. The fever got him two years ago.” Lottie smiles wistfully. “I wrote, but I don’t imagine you ever got the letter.”
“I’m… real sorry.” You’re not sure if you’re apologizing because he’s dead or for a letter you never read. Maybe it’s the fact that you didn’t try to get in touch until now. You never liked Melvin much, but you and Lottie... Well. It’s all in the past now, where things get twisted and lost and can’t ever change.
“Any chance you’re still in the paper fixin’ business?” John asks. Tension looses from your shoulders at the change in topic. “Ghost and I got a couple horses that need buyers, and from what I understand they’d go for a prettier penny with your help.”
Lottie stands up straighter, businesslike, when she says yes.
“Melvin left me everything, but as you can see,” she gestures to the worthless paraphernalia surrounding you, “it isn’t much. Why don’t you stay by the house tonight while I fix up those papers? It’s been a sight too empty for too long. I’d like the company.”
“We’ll be there,” you promise, clasping her hand before stepping away.
It’s been too long since you’ve slept in a proper bed with a roof over your head, and longer still since you’ve caught up with an old friend. John’s mouth tightens when you say it, maybe because you agreed without asking, but you can’t imagine why a hot meal and some company would bother him. It never has before.
Dinner proves an awkward affair.
By the time you and John broke camp and herded your stolen horses to the property, twilight had already painted the house and neighboring barn in dreamy purples and golds. John bitched the whole time you put the horses up, set off by something he refused to tell you about. Then when Lottie met you at the front door in a pretty green dress with her dark curls pulled up it only got worse. She ushered you both into her humbly lit dining room, where a wonderful meal awaited. He glared through the whole affair, despite the warmth of the fire and the kindness piled on every plate. You asked for seconds. He asked to be excused.
Now he’s off sulking somewhere while you show Lottie the horses down at the barn. So long as he doesn’t scare any buyers away you just have to trust that this mood of his will pass with time.
Old Father Time nickers you back to the present, begging for a treat that Lottie offers up gladly. She giggles at the tickle of his whiskers when he takes it from her outstretched palm. His dark coat gleams even in the nighttime. Autocrat paws and tosses his dappled head. Cerberus whickers for his own share of attention, earning an affectionate scratch behind the ear. As you introduce each stallion and his accomplishments Lottie hums thoughtfully, mentions a few adjustments she’d like to make on their papers accordingly. It’s nice to work with a professional. You’d almost forgotten what the luxury of forged papers felt like, so long spent with unlettered outlaws and people otherwise uninterested in the horse business.
“They’re fine animals,” Lottie says, then gestures to Old Boy and Moonshine. “What about these two?”
“I found Old Boy there skinny and abandoned. Perfect timing that John needed a new horse. He put the weight back on him and has him trained up nice.”
“And the roan?”
“A friend died and left this beast behind,” you say with an affectionate pat to Moonshine’s silver-blue neck over the stall door. He rolls an ornery eye at you, but doesn’t offer a bite like he might have just a few months ago. “He’s mean, but he’s mine.”
Lottie laughs. “Like your cowboy, then.”
“He ain’t—we’re not—” you fumble, “I don’t—”
“The outlaw doth protest too much, methinks,” she cuts you off gently, with that smile full of home and heartbreak. The quote scratches at almost-lost memory in the back of your mind. Summers spent sneaking into a family home through the second story bedroom window. A warm hand in yours. Her familiar voice reciting Shakespeare while you pretended to understand the lines you parroted back.
“The outlaw protests just enough,” you frown. “He ain’t mine, though I will apologize on his behalf for the way he acted at dinner. John’s plenty mean, but not like that. Not usually, anyway.”
“He’s jealous,” she says like it’s obvious. “I can hardly blame him.”
“If he wants you, I ain’t standin’ in the way, Miss High-and-Mighty,” you laugh, caught off guard by the sudden turn in conversation. It’s a high-up, nervous sound.
“Miss Nothing-to-him,” she corrects. “Can’t you see? That man only has eyes for you.”
It’s everything you’ve ever wanted to hear and you’re not quite sure what to say. Emotions flash through you like lightning and brush fire, electric scorches of surprise and denial and self-deprecation. Longing. Hope.
“You think?” is all you manage to muster.
Lottie’s eyes are far too sympathetic. “I know.”
“And you don’t… mind?” Your shoulders cringe even as you ask it. Some things are just worth checking.
She sighs, turns to face you fully, and takes your hands in hers. “I loved after you for a long time. The idea of you, really. A dashing outlaw and a horseback rescue from the life I didn’t want.” She offers a wry smile as she continues, “I only heard that you took Daddy’s money and ran long after the wedding was over.” You start to apologize, but she cuts you off before it ever leaves your mouth. “It’s done, now. I don’t think either of us would go back and change it if we could. I’m happy here, now, and you have your cowboy. Your John. It’s time you let yourself be happy, too.”
“Funny enough, you’re not the first person who’s said that to me.” You drop your chin and try to stop the burn of tears that threatens your composure as you squeeze her bookish hands with your calloused ones. “Thank you, Lottie.”
She squeezes back and smiles. “You’re welcome.”
When she says your name, you feel a little less like a ghost.
On the walk back up to the house you spy movement in an upstairs window. Just a blur by candlelight.
You wonder how much John saw from up there. If jealousy burns his eyes and the back of his throat the way it used to for you, watching him and Abigail together. It lights a spark of something low in your belly, hope or want or vindication. A grim, simmering promise of things to come.
The next morning greets you sunshine-bright and singing. The grasses sway gently with the breeze. The birds flit from leafy tree limbs outstretched in the sky’s great blue embrace. Lottie insists on giving you not only the agreed-upon papers, but breakfast for the road as well. The fistfull of cash you fetch from your saddlebag is more than she asked for, but when she protests you push her hands back gently. After everything, it’s fitting payment.
“Ride safe, now,” she tells you, shielding the sun from her greenglass eyes to look up at your mounted form. “It’s nice now, but a storm’s brewing. Can you smell it on the breeze?”
You can. Sunshine undercut with petrichor and the buzzing, electric promise of lightning. “We will. Thank you again, Lottie. For everything.” Live well.
“The same to you, old friend,” she smiles your way, then turns to John. “Keep an eye on this one, will you?”
“Always do.” His voice is curt, and his eyes are sharp and unkind when he says it.
Mean, you think as you sneak a look at his striking profile. But mine.
You wave one last goodbye before riding off, stolen horses in tow, false paperwork tucked into your breast pocket. The pair of you make for the horizon line and don’t look back.
John is quiet in the coming days. Uncharacteristically so. You catch him staring at you when he thinks you don’t see; eyeing the length of your neck as you drink from your canteen, memorizing the planes of your face lit by campfire, burning a hole in your back as you ride ahead. All the ways you’ve watched him since you were young and scared and barely knew what to call the ache in your chest and the scorch of your want. That anguish which even now you refuse to name; you know what it is.
Maybe Lottie was right.
Maybe John knows it too.
As you ride toward the next town, and the next one, and the next, the sky darkens from shades of blue to grey to not-quite-black. The storm hasn’t hit yet, but rain heralds its coming on the wind. In the hoofbeats of the horses you hear thunder.
A man in tweed with a curled mustache buys Cerberus behind a saloon in Split River. John orders you both a round of drinks to celebrate. His fingers brush against yours when you toast your glasses together. It tastes of wildfire. Stings the whole way down.
You’re forced to leave when he almost takes a man’s head off for asking you to share a dance shortly after. The jaunty fiddle tune haunts your steps into the lamplit streets as you beat your hasty retreat, John’s shoulder clasped tight beneath your burnt whiskey fingertips.
In Steelhead, a farmer with a nose for a pedigree takes Autocrat off your hands. That night he puts the pair of you up with his other farmhands to get you out of the nighttime chill. It’s a kindness you hadn’t counted on, but it feels cruel the moment you see a man, broad and strong with eyes the same shade as yours, agree to light John’s cigarette. Across the room they lean in close. Closer. The butts of their cigarettes glow shrouded in smoke as they share the intimacy of nicotine breath, but the whole time John’s eyes are on yours. A punishment. A dare.
In a bedroll as far from everyone else as the room allows, you don’t sleep a wink.
The following morning breaks grey and ominous. You can’t leave the place far enough behind.
Rushing Spring houses Old Father Time’s new owner, a fashionable young woman whose father can refuse her nothing. He barely looks the horse over before offering more than your asking price, and you shake his hand without giving him a moment to think twice.
“Better get going if we want to beat this weather,” John says as they walk away with their new purchase. His eyes are squinted up at the sky, storm grey and swirling. It’s the most he’s offered to speak since Lottie’s.
“You’re right,” you agree. But as you glance up at the churning clouds above you, you’re not so sure that you will.
The rain catches you the next afternoon in open country, not a settlement in sight. It starts as a drizzle, errant drops that speckle the leather of your saddle and pepper Moonshine’s coat, but soon crescendos into an all-out pour. It comes so thick and fast that you can hardly see John and Old Boy just a horselength in front of you. John turns to shout something over the downpour, but the wind snatches his words. It’s too dark to read his lips.
When he turns his horse away you follow blind.
There’s a rockface somewhere off to the left, you know. You’ve seen irregular shelves and outcroppings from a distance. Maybe John spied something like that before the rain came? Maybe he’s just trusting that he’ll find shelter before an errant lightning strike hits anything nearby. Whatever the case is, his luck holds. You endure only a few more minutes of being utterly soaked before the dark, yawning mouth of a cave opens up before you.
The horses shake their dripping coats the moment you step inside. Their unshod hoofbeats echo with the rainfall. Lightning flashes, lighting your surroundings for a heartbeat and a half. It’s enough to see that the cave doesn’t run dangerously deep; you need not fear it housing some slumbering bear or wildcat’s den, but it’s enough to keep the rain from soaking you entirely. So long as it doesn’t flood, you guess.
Without so much as a word you and John fall into a routine that’s been established since you were kids. You untack and hobble the horses, toweling them dry as best you can. Moonshine tenses beneath your hands at the distant rumble of thunder rolling ever closer. John starts a fire and gets to warming food. Canned beans, it looks like. Better than nothing. You set the tent tarp on the ground to keep the bedrolls dry. The extra blankets you have packed away aren’t quite wet. It’s a sadder, damper camp than you normally pull together, but in the wake of this weather you’d be hard-pressed to do better.
You huddle close to the small fire with your plate of food. John sits opposite you and says nothing. Just watches. You watch back. The way his sharp features accentuate with shadow. The way his damp skin is drenched in firelight. His hair is plastered to his cheek, and your fingers twitch with longing to smooth it back and kiss the raindrops from his lips. When the next lightning strike flashes, you see unmasked want reflected back in his eyes.
“John…” you start, but can’t find the right words. How do you give voice to thoughts you’ve smothered for years now? How would you even begin?
“I need a drink after all that,” he says, pulling his flask from his belt and taking a swig. “How ‘bout you?”
Your mouth is terribly dry. “Sure.”
The offer doesn’t surprise you, but the way he hands it over, slow and deliberate, your fingers brushing together, does. Instead of retreating back to his side of the fire he remains with his hungry eyes and sharp mouth. You can’t quite bring yourself to look away as you drink. It burns like whiskey, but it tastes like him.
“Somethin’ else out there,” he says, inclining his head toward the mouth of the cave. Lightning flashes, and a clap of thunder - the closest one yet - punctuates his statement. “Reminds me of all them years ago, picking you up out of the mud. You remember that?”
“How could I forget? Saved my life.” Marked it forever. Changed it. For better or for worse.
“Every time it storms I think about that day,” he confesses. His hand reaches up for your face, cupping your cheek. You swear your heart stops. His brows knit together. “I don’t know that I would’ve saved anyone else.”
“I’m not sure I would’ve let anyone else do the saving.”
The rough pad of his thumb strokes the side of your neck. You swallow past a dry mouth and watch his eyes trace the line of your throat. Firelight flickers across his features. He leans in closer.
“It was always gonna be you and me, wasn’t it?” His breath fans your lips; whiskey and want.
Lightning arcs across the sky outside, lighting his face in that same eerie glow it did the day you met. He’s so beautiful. You’re so tired of pretending.
Before the thunder has a chance to crash, you answer him with a kiss.
It’s everything.
Electric.
You feel the boom of thunder in your chest when it comes, feel his hands wandering there and know it’s where they’ve always belonged. When he bites your lip and pushes you onto your back, your body accommodates him without thinking. He settles into the space between your legs and pulls back just long enough to admire, a wolfish gleam in his eye. What a sight you must be, spread out and chest heaving, eyes blown wide with years’ worth of want, face half-lit by the fire.
“Fuck,” he says, breathless, and then kisses you again. “Should’a done that sooner.”
But you’re here now, and it’s everything you could ever want or imagine. Better, somehow. You know John better than you know yourself and still his passion surprises you as he presses chapped-lip kisses further and further down your neck. You gasp when he bites down and feel him smirk against your rainsoaked skin. He’s paid back in kind with a sharp tug at the root of his hair, your hand tangled in those long, dark strands. A groan sounds from deep in his chest and he pulls away long enough for you to see the grey of his eyes go black.
“Tell me you want this,” he says.
“I want it.” You squirm, rolling your hips against his just to see desire glaze across his face. “I want you.”
“Shit, Ghost,” he says. “You always had me. I’m yours. It’s all yours.”
Whether he means his body or his heart or his soul you don’t rightly know. Right now you hardly care. All you know is that his hands are all over you at once, pulling layer after layer of soaked clothing away until you’re almost completely bare beneath him. Your nipples pebble against the sudden exposure to evening storm air, and his hungry eyes watch your every move, every breath beneath him. He’s a sight himself; half hard already, those soaked-through breeches plastered to his skin leaving little to the imagination. His hair is all a mess and his scars stand out against scarlet and his eyes are dark and bright. You help him tear his clothes away and grin when his broad, lean chest gleams in the flickering light of the campfire. You run your fingers against the dark hair there and feel him shudder beneath your touch. Heat rushes to your core when he removes his pants, leaving his cock exposed and flush against his stomach. You move to lick a stripe down your hand when he grabs your wrist.
“Don’t,” he says, face flushed. Eyes bright. “I like when it hurts, a little.”
He licks his lips. You grin and take him in your hand. His breath catches and his hips stutter as you set a slow, steady, punishing rhythm.
“Goddamn,” he curses. “Just like that.”
You’re dizzy with power and want. Seeing the effect you have on him, his chest heaving, his eyes rolled toward the heavens, makes that simmering warmth in your belly start to boil over. You smooth a calloused fingerpad over his tip just to watch him shudder. Precup smears. His eyes squeeze shut, and all too soon he’s pushing your hands away.
You tilt your head in question and he grins, half-shy. “I ain’t gonna last if you keep that up.”
“That’s the point, dumbass.”
He shakes his head, bends to kiss the corner of your mouth. “Want to feel you, first.”
Heat floods your body from your chest to your fingertips at the confession.
Hard to argue with that.
He makes a strangled sound at the back of his throat watching you wriggle out of your pants, moaning outright when you take his hand and put his fingers in your mouth. His eyes glaze over and he thrusts them to the back of your throat just once to see what happens. You hum around them. His eyes go even darker.
Hesitantly, maybe even a little reverently, he starts to work you open. The further he goes and the more you relax into it, the rougher and more confident he becomes. One finger becomes two, becomes three. Still you want more.
“Yeah?” he says as you moan, half cocky and half like he can’t believe he’s the lucky son of a bitch making you see stars. You hate that it wrecks you the way that it does.
“Yeah,” you breathe, tilting your head up to press a kiss to his jaw.
He takes your face in his hands and kisses you back properly, thoroughly, before lining up to your entrance and thrusting in all at once. It’s that special kind of too-much ecstasy, your vision going dark and your voice keening at the sensation.
“Shit, you feel good,” he whines.
“Please, John,” you say, though you’re not sure what you’re begging for other than more.
Lightning screams through the storming sky outside and his pale skin glows in white-hot light. He takes you apart to the sound of fading thunder and falling rain. You shift to meet the thrust of those narrow hips halfway, and rake your fingers down his back with each burst of pleasure. If there’s such a thing as completion, it must be this. The way your bodies fit together, the way you know every thought that flashes behind the wolfish want in his eyes. Each unspoken, understood I love you. He taught you to do it long before he recognized the feeling returned, and when you finally reach the peak of your pleasure you sigh it into his skin.
I love you, John Marston.
“Fuck, Ghost,” he pants. “Fuck. I love you too.”
His thrusts get sloppy, chasing his own high, and when he pulls out and spends himself across your stomach his voice cracks saying your name. It’s never sounded sweeter.
After a few settling breaths John leans down and presses a firm kiss to your forehead. You miss his warmth for only moments when he rolls away to find a rag to clean you up. The two of you fall asleep in one another’s arms. Outside, the rain slows and fades away to a drizzle, then nothing.
You wake the next morning to wiry arms wrapped around you and John’s face pressed into your stomach. He snores softly, and you allow yourself a quiet moment to admire his sleeping form. It’s impossible to stop the fond smile that steals across your face. Carefully, carefully, you extricate yourself from his embrace.
When you step outside, morning birdsong greets you. The grass beneath your feet is as dewy as the pinks and yellows and robin’s egg blues that paint the sky above. It’s the kind of sunrise that only comes after a storm.
You lean against the rockface and light a cigarette, watching the smoke dissipate on the fresh morning breeze. It isn’t long before John joins you. Wordlessly you pass him your cigarette, and wordlessly he takes a drag. He breathes smoke into the air and smiles.
Together you watch the sun rise.
crying over Rescue Bots, yes it’s the ghost ship episode, it’s fine
so I’m watching Rescue Bots again because I don’t feel good today lmao
and the episode where they’re on the ghost ship and TEN WHOLE ASS YEARS GO BY WHILE THEY ARE STUCK ON THE SHIP came up in the playlist
and even though it’s resolved in the end, it’s like, holy shit
okay so for those who haven’t seen it:
halfway through the episode Chief Burns shows up and sees his kids for the first time in TEN YEARS because tl;dr the kids got on the ghost ship to investigate but it vanished back into the fog and it time travelled them at accelerated speed but beyond the ship, time passes normally, so it’s been 10 YEARS from their dad’s point of view since they left, even though for them it has only been one hour
and him and the Doc and Frankie are visibly older when they land on the ship’s deck
so naturally Chief’s talking to his kids and probably trying not to fucking have a break down and he’s like okay everyone, let’s go
and Cody’s like “no we think we figured it out, let us stay and try”
and the Chief has less than one minute to make this call: do I bring my entire family home after ten years, or do I let them disappear maybe for another ten years based on a hunch they have
and he lets them stay on the ghost ship because he trusts his kids that much
ten years lost, maybe ten years more, and how old is he now? how old will he be in another ten years, if they happen to be wrong? what happens to the town if he ages out of rescue work (and so would Doc), which would leave only Frankie to protect the island?
even the rescue bots themselves openly state that they feel like they’ve abandoned their posts because of their extended absence, even though it’s not their fault (I don’t remember who specifically said this but it was one of them and it makes it sadder lmao)
but he lets them go after finally seeing them again for five minutes in total, after they have been missing in real time for ten years on this ghost ship
and IDK the amount of trust Chief has in his kids and his ability to immediately trust them in this way despite what I am sure is an incredible amount of grief and stress over what has been ten fucking years for him is actually so intense
like this is a show for babbies, so of course they can’t focus on how emotionally fucked this situation is for literally everyone, it would be Too Much for Babbies which is understandable
but thinking about it for ten seconds is like oh shit!! oh shit, feelings
I love this episode because the feels are real, both for the Captain of the ship (which is the whole setup, tl;dr stuck in time loop never got to marry girlfriend, it’s sad already) and for Chief Burns because holy shit his fucking entire family has been gone for ten years and he still trusts them enough to let them stay on board and try to solve shit even though he absolutely has to be emotionally trashed in that moment
10/10 Rescue Bots is a great show, I don’t know why I don’t post about it more tbh the emotional whiplash is so intense lmao
there’s also that time Optimus turned into a t-rex and freaked out but then in TFP concurrently this was somehow fine and it never came up again in canon or seemingly anywhere else, holy shit I forgot all about that until today LMAO
I love the Aligned Continuity, all of this shit is so good, I’m crying but also laughing
mostly crying right now though because Chief Burns lost all his kids for TEN YEARS and he immediately let them go again because he loves them and trusts them THAT MUCH
A Pet and Clothes - Rain/ Mountain
Domestic December - Day 4
Tumblr media
Summary: Rain brings in a cat from a snowstorm and Mountain takes care of them both
Content (do let me know if I forgot anything!): A cat implied to have been abandoned, Rain being cold (literally), fluff
Word count: ~2.1k
It wasn't uncommon for the ghouls to be sent out on errands between tours. It was mostly chores like handiwork or running to town to pick up some groceries or mail that didn’t get to the abbey.
Rain was the one sent to town today. It was meant to have been Dew, but Rain volunteered since a heavy rain had been predicted to fall that day. The water ghoul didn’t mind rain at all, in fact it made him more energetic. The problem was that it hadn’t actually ended up raining. It was a snowstorm instead.
Rain cursed himself for having walked the way there, unable to drive and not knowing just how strong the wind was gonna get. Each step took an incredible amount of effort, even for the non-human being. The big bag of previously undelivered packages slung over his shoulder didn’t exactly help either. His teeth were chattering, his steps unsteady on shaky legs. The wind and snowflakes blew right against his front, slowly making him lose all sensation in his face. His simple long sleeve shirt and jeans weren’t doing him any favors.
As he marched past an alleyway, a strange noise caused his head to turn. It was soft and high pitched. He thought he’d made it up for a moment. It must have been the wind. Except, he heard it again, much more recognizable as a meow this time.
Rain’s heart clenched in his chest. The idea of some poor animal caught outside in this temperature was terrible.
He decided he would just have a quick peek. See if the critter had a collar, a place to go. He’d see that and then be on his way again.
Yeah, right.
The alley protected him a bit more from the wind. He wiped the snowflakes off his face, his numb hand barely able to get that done. He waddled further down the street, his eyes scanning around him trying to find the hidden cat.
A third meow led him towards a set of trash cans. Rain lifted the top of one of them, seeing a full trash bag inside and praying it wasn’t in there.
Before going through the effort of ripping the bag apart, he decided to first check the other. But he didn’t even lift the lid ahead of spotting a black stain upon the snowy ground. He instantly fell to his knees, his jeans soaking through as he reached out as delicately as possible. He tried wiping the snow off the cat, to which it luckily didn’t respond with aggression or evasiveness. It was quite small. Not fully a kitten, but certainly young. It wasn’t wearing a collar.
Of course there was still a chance it was someone’s pet, but Rain didn’t think about that at the moment. He didn’t want to risk it. He carefully lifted it up, bringing it underneath the collar of his shirt to try and warm it up. He tensed up at the extra cold hitting his chest.
“It’s ok. You’ll be ok.” Rain’s voice shook, moving back on his way towards the ministry.
The journey felt like it took hours. He tried to somehow stay positive, to just look forward to being home. Still, it felt like the road was endless. It was freezing, miserable. He wanted to cry, but knew it wouldn’t help at all.
The cat’s nails dug into his chest. Not so much in an aggressive manner, it appeared more afraid than anything. He tried shushing the creature and, in a way, also himself.
As soon as home was in sight, Rain found the last reserves of his energy to steadily stomp its way.
The wind and snow had only gotten worse. He could barely see at this point. Opening his eyes further than a sliver only hurt and blinded him more. He had no idea how he would even open the property gate when he could barely see.
“Rain!” There was a muffled yell a little bit in the distance. The water ghoul tried looking up beyond his squinted eyes, a vague shape waiting at the gate. The person quickly came closer to him, a big, dark stain on the icy wasteland his home was turning into, “Fuck, you had me worried.” Mountain’s voice cut through the wind much clearer now that he stood right in front of him.
Rain wanted to respond, but his jaw almost seemed frozen shut.
“Come on.” Mountain didn’t hesitate to pick his packmate up, the bag Rain had been carrying now dragging behind them.  He was dressed much more appropriately for the weather. He was still really cold, but at least he was able to move his muscles properly.
Rain snuggled up in the big arms that held him, careful not to crush the cat that still rested in his shirt. The mail bag got let go off as soon as they were inside the building. That would be someone else’s problem. Rain, however, was not put down. He was carried all the way past the ghouls’ common room, and towards Mountain’s bathroom. The earth ghoul carefully put him down on a countertop, turning the taps of his bath and rushing out for a moment.
Rain’s hands and toes hurt like hell as they started to warm up again. They tingled and itched, but he just tried to focus on being happy that he was finally home. He tried removing his soaking wet tshirt, his arms stiff and shaking.
“Here, let me help.” Mountain walked back in. He’d removed his jacket, carrying some of his own clothes for Rain to wear. He quickly stopped the bath’s tap from running before coming to stand before Rain, “Can you lift your arms?”
“Wait.” Rain whispered, his arms still cradling the cat up against his chest.
Only now did Mountain get a good look at his friend, noticing the weird bump on his torso which was covered by his shirt.
His eyes flicked up to Rain’s, “What’d ya got there?”
Rain wanted to take the cat out from underneath his garment and show it off, but his arms were still too cold. Instead he simply explained, “Cat.”
Mountain’s eyebrow raised, but quickly moved Rain’s shirt up. Indeed, he spotted and carefully took the black cat over from the water ghoul’s hands. He held it up in front of his face, “Hello, little friend,” He smiled, “Where did you come from?” The question was framed towards the cat, but his face turned questioningly to Rain.
The response was a shaky shrug, which made Mountain turn nearly his full attention back to him.
The taller guy quickly grabbed two towels from a cabinet, putting the cat down on one of them on top of the counter. “Arms up.” He repeated.
Rain was luckily able to move according to the instructions, trying to ignore the tingling pain that spread to the rest of his limbs.
Mountain lifted the shirt off his body and let it fall to the floor where it landed with a wet splat. It’d been completely soaked through. He put the second towel around Rain’s shoulders, before moving on to his pants. He unbuttoned and unzipped it before helping Rain stand up to remove them.
The water ghoul had to lean on the counter for his legs to not give out. He allowed Mountain to undress him fully, then pick him up a second time and carefully put him down into the warm bath.
Rain involuntarily gasped, sinking into the water in delight. He closed his eyes and tried to fully relax.
Mountain, meanwhile, was focused on the cat now. He patted it with the towel in an attempt to dry it. It looked and meowed at him, gaining a smile in return. He then quickly moved out of the room to get his phone. He took a quick picture of the cat and sent it to their pack’s group chat, asking if anyone could find something for the critter to eat. Finally, he grabbed it, together with the towel it’d been sitting on, and sank to the floor.
“How’re you holding up, Lilypad?”
Rain’s eyes opened again to look at him, “How long did you wait for me outside?”
“Not too long,” Mountain dismissed, “But I needed to make sure you were ok. Why were you even out? It wasn’t your turn. Dew could’ve melted the snow as soon as it hit him.”
Rain shrugged, “We thought it was gonna rain.”
The response he got was somewhere between a scoff and a laugh, “You’re too nice, Rainy.” The cat happened to meow just as he said that, “See? This little buddy agrees. It’s the living proof of it.” He held it up for Rain to look at.
He smiled, “They need a name.”
“Are you even sure it’s a stray? Cause you know it’s better to put up ‘found’ posters in town once we can get back there. Someone might miss it.”
“They were gonna freeze.” He defended himself.
Mountain was quiet for a moment and Rain expected to get scolded, “How about Salem?”
“What?”
“We could name the cat Salem. Salem the black cat. I know it’s cliche, but I think it’s cute.”
Rain giggled, “I like it.”
The two sat there having a simple, pleasant chat for a bit. At least until the clear sound of the door to Mountain’s bedroom being busted open shook their attention away. Footsteps hurried their way and the bathroom door soon flew open as well.
“Where is-” Cirrus cut herself off with a gasp, crouching down next to Mountain and immediately holding her hand out for the cat to sniff.
It was no secret Cirrus loved cats. They were some of the few things that could make her lose her normally cool attitude. Mountain let her take the cat from him without protest. She’d have put up a fight otherwise.
“Do they have a name?” She asked, “Oh, and are you ok?” She looked at Rain.
“I’m fine. The name’s Salem.” Rain smiled.
“Hi, little Salem.” She smiled at it, “Cumulus is trying to find the sister whose cat is always running around. We’ll get you food soon enough.”
“Cir, do you mind?” Mountain asked gently, wanting to give Rain the chance to relax and not immediately be overwhelmed.
She stood up, “My cat now. But you can visit them on the weekend.” She joked, though she actually didn’t put the cat down and instead left the room with it.
The two men laughed at her antics. After which they picked up conversation again, Rain enjoying the warmth of the bath until it ran cold. He shivered as he got out, taking the towel Mountain held out for him again.
The taller ghoul wrapped his arms around Rain from behind and rubbed his arms for further warmth, “You can wear those for now if you’d like.” He nodded towards the clothes he’d picked up earlier.
“Thank you.” Rain smiled. He loved wearing other people's clothing, especially Mountain’s. The knit sweater and oversized, on him at least, sweatpants carried the signature earthy scent that always managed to make him feel at ease.
Mountain effortlessly picked him up a third time, carrying him into his bedroom bridal style.
“My legs work again, you know?” Rain chuckled, though only snuggling closer.
“But you deserve to rest up fully.” The water ghoul was a little disappointed to be put down again so soon, but couldn’t complain that he got the chance to snuggle up under Mountain’s blanket.
“I’ll go get you something to eat. You just stay put, alright?”
“Alright.” Rain yawned. Being in bed, finally warmed up and comfortable, immediately made him sleepy. He thought maybe if he did eat something he’d get his energy back. But he didn’t even get the chance.
Mountain had spent a little while cooking up a rich pumpkin soup. He went all out with it, wanting to spoil Rain and just hoping he wouldn’t end up sick.
Making his way back to his own bedroom with a little tray his heart warmed at the sight he was greeted with. Cirrus had reentered the room, together with Cumulus this time. They tried their hardest to stifle their giggles and aw’s at Salem, who had made their way onto Rain’s chest. He seemed to still be asleep regardless of the extra weight, torso calmly rising and falling with his breathing.
Mountain didn’t make a single move. He wanted to freeze the moment; the warm, cozy, togetherness in the room. He’d been worried sick for Rain’s wellbeing a mere few hours prior, yet now he thought he may perish from joy. Rain was alright. So was he. And so was Salem.
I'll show you disease (B/illy, S/tranger T/hings)
Here's a 3.8k nasty fic no-one asked for of E/ddie selling B/illy weed at a house party when B/illy is sick with some evil cold or flu bug. AU of some kind in which they are both alive and nothing exceptional ever happened to them so they're just getting on with life 🤷‍♀️
~~~~~~~~
Content:
M/M but not really (they hate each other), Cold/flu sneezes, voyeurism, E/ddie has the fetish, E/ddie is germaphobic but conflicted over it, some mentions of mess, contagion, sneezing in someone's face, mentions of masturbation
CW: Non-consensual contagion, very brief mention of someone throwing up, some suppressed shame over the fetish, homophobic and ableist slurs, physical violence, young men being fucking stupid and aggressive
~~~~~~~~
I really should emphasise this is a pretty seedy fic. No nice feelings to be had, just pure nasty fetish content I had to get out of my system 😅
NSFW, minors please DNI!
Eddie leaned up against the back wall of the fancy house he was currently lurking behind, black metal lunch box in hand. He hadn’t wanted to show up to this fucking shitshow of a house party. It had quite literally been the last thing he had wanted to do. This was his third time taking calculus and he had a stack of equations to get through before the homework was due on Friday. He hated that shit, hated it with a passion, and yet – he would rather be crouched over his desk, chewing the end of his pencil to wood chips and dying of boredom, than be at this party. But his amp had finally given out on him and he’d burned through any and all drug money this month already. He knew selling weed and ket to teenagers wasn’t exactly a respectable occupation, but nobody would hire him in this fucking town, even to flip burgers, and he sure as fuck wasn’t going to bug Wayne for cash. So he was here, trying to tune out the blare of some trash Oingo Boingo song and working his way through a crumpled pack of cigarettes.
There was a sudden commotion to his left. A jock pushed his way through a gaggle of students and made it halfway down the (extensive, perfectly mown) lawn before emptying his guts noisily. Eddie wrinkled his nose at the sight before tossing his cigarette to ground and grinding it out on the (obviously pricey and incredibly tasteful) flagstones. Why him, why him.
It was nearing the end of November, and Hawkins was fucking cold. He snuggled into his leather jacket, for all the good it did him. The other partygoers didn’t seem to notice the freezing temperature at all – but then again, they had enough cheap alcohol in their system to anesthetise a family of elephants, so it made sense. He’d have to break out his trench coat soon, and after that, his woefully ratty puffer jacket. He hated that shit, a total style-cramper of a coat, but vanity be damned. It was the only thing that successfully kept out the cold.
He sniffled, nose starting to run a little. He swiped across his philtrum, grimacing at the dampness pooling there and how freezing the tip of his nose was. He really, really didn’t want to get sick, not with whatever plague was going round Hawkins High this year. He’d had a close call with Gareth last week, had disbanded Hellfire mid-session in a desperate attempt to separate himself and everyone else from what had to be the fastest and messiest progression of an upper-respiratory infection he had ever seen. It seemed like half his classes were empty, not that he particularly gave a fuck about that. He would rather the sick students actually stay at home than brave coming to school and give their germs to him.
It was strange, to be so disgusted by the thought of himself being sick but find the contagion aspect of it so incredibly erotic. The other day he’d been making his way to his locker between classes when he’d seen and heard one of the senior cheerleaders – he forgot her name – erupt into a dramatic fit of seven girly sneezes that sent her pitching forward into steepled hands, before using said germy hands to open the door of a classroom. He took a detour to the bathroom to calm himself – from both the creeping anxiety and sudden rush of blood to his groin.
The sound of something shattering inside the house followed by drunken whooping and cheering pulled him out of his thoughts. He rolled his eyes and lit his third – or was it his fourth? – cigarette of the evening. He really should lay off the things, especially if he wanted to strengthen his immune system, but right now he needed something to occupy his mind. Business was slow-going, partially due to the fact that half the student body was sick, and partially due to the fact that he was in no mood to actively socialise and be surrounded by wasted teenagers while George Michael was blaring loudly enough to give him a tension headache. Funny that Iron Maiden never did that to him, even at the maximum volume of his car speakers.
A couple more sales should get him what he wanted. He could probably make more if he put in the effort, but it was just not one of those days. The thought that he would probably make easier sales going door to door selling Robitussin this week passed through his mind, and he chuckled at the absurdity of it.
“Hh’RRrSSHhh’uhh!!”
Nearly dropping his cigarette, Eddie’s body perked up immediately at the sound of what was, at least to his ears, an incredibly sexy sneeze. Gruff, irritated and masculine, it echoed a little in the garden and at least three girls called out blessings in response. He listened for a beat as the culprit offered no thank you’s, trying not to hold his breath in anticipation for what he hoped was a second sneeze.
“Hh-!! HAHhh’TSCcchhh’uh!!”
Ooh, that sounded desperate. And so wet. He took a drag on his cigarette and let himself luxuriate on the exhale and the sound of the sneeze looping in his mind. It was a welcome respite from the boredom and shitty pop music. Eddie scanned what he could of the garden from his vantage point but couldn’t see anyone that looked like they were recovering from a fierce double of sneezes. Maybe they’d made their way outside to sneeze before heading back in? Either way, it seemed like that was it. He was a little disappointed he wouldn’t get to hear any more. Those sneezes had been hot, plain and simple, admittedly leaving his jeans a little tighter than before. He was grateful that he was partial to black jeans and had found a particularly shadowy corner to skulk in. It wasn’t as if anyone was coming over anyway.
It was as he was sighing in frustration and taking a final drag on the stump of his cig that he heard honest-to-god footsteps approaching him from the left. He straightened up, ready to turn on as much charm as he could to secure the last 20 to 30 dollars he needed.
His smile dropped the second he took in the sight of the man approaching him, and it took him almost all of his energy to stop himself from groaning out loud. He kept his cool, flicking the cigarette butt to the ground and standing up straight.
“Hargrove! Fancy meeting you here.”
As he had expected he would, Billy downright snarled at him.
“Cut the shit, Munson. I’m not here to fucking chit-chat.”
Eddie smirked.
“Oh, believe me, honey, I know. You want a half-ounce of reefer?”
Billy bristled at the pet name, also just as Eddie had expected. He loved messing with the guy, even if it earned him a couple of punches here and there. Billy would never rough him up totally – the dude was insane, most likely a certifiable sociopath, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew that Eddie was both the fastest and cheapest way to get a fix, and it would do no good to brain his dealer over some light teasing.
“Yeah. Hurry up, freak.”
Eddie made a point of opening his lunch box as slowly as possible, delighting in the way the vein on Billy’s forehead was starting to bulge. He had no idea why the girls flocked to such a douchebag. Hargrove was good looking, he knew that – he had eyes. But there was this aura around the guy – something just not right about him. Girls didn’t even give him a chance, though he knew that was partially due to his own doing. Anyway. Weed. He could only joke around so much before Billy reached the end of his tether.
He held the plastic bag up to Billy, jumping back and out of reach when Billy made a grab for it.
“Munson, I swear to god –“
“Cash first, doll-face. Twenty dollars.” Eddie smirked at him.
“Fucking fag.” Billy grumbled but reached into his pocket and rummaged around anyway. He pulled out two crumpled tens and was half-started proffering them to Eddie when he suddenly froze. Eddie frowned and tilted his head, wondering what the fuck was happening until a sudden flicker of movement at the centre of Billy’s face – his nostrils giving a violent twitch – had him zoning in like a hawk.
An intense look of irritation was taking over Billy’s features in a distinctively pre-sneeze fashion. Despite himself, Eddie felt a tingle of anticipation race down his spine. Hargrove was a psycho, but he was a hot psycho, and it would be a lie if he said he wasn’t at least a little curious to hear him sneeze. The metalhead continued to feign confusion so that he could carry on watching Billy’s expression crumple, and, to his utter delight, listen as the younger man issued a couple of soft gasps, the tickle teasing him mercilessly.
Eddie licked his lips, a nervous habit and nothing more, but was nonetheless relieved that Billy was far too distracted to notice. And man, was he distracted. He didn’t mask the desperation on his face at all – if anything, he seemed to lean into it, nostrils twitching and flaring as his tongue pressed against his bottom lip. He looked ridiculous, which was to say painfully erotic, at least to Eddie. Stupid, sexy psychopath.
Finally, the tickle seemed to crest, and with a final gasp, Billy was pitching forward with a wrenching sneeze.
“HuHh’RRrrrschh!!”
Eddie jumped out of the way just in time, clumsily stepping back from the glittering cloud of spray that the younger man let out unhindered. He paused for a moment, in which Eddie watched the aerosol of the sneeze dissipate gently in the cold night air, before his head tipped forward with another harsh expulsion.
“HH’TTSCHhhGH!!”
The spray was even denser this time as Billy sneezed forcefully through clenched teeth. Eddie licked his lips again, couldn’t help himself. No question about it, Hargrove was definitely the source of those earlier, cock-throbbingly sexy sneezes, and he had a front-row seat to the absolute spectacle of it all. The lack of manners and etiquette, the way the younger man just let loose with no regard for the fact that Eddie had been standing well within the splash zone was an unfortunate and very potent turn-on. The metalhead shifted from one foot to the other, reaching a hand into his pocket and squeezing his cock through his jeans in a weak attempt to wrangle it into submission.
Billy righted himself, blinking through bleary, wet eyelashes for a moment and shaking his head, looking for all the world like the sneezes had temporarily sent him on a trip to another dimension. He snuffled and Eddie winced. That did not sound healthy. He watched as the younger man wiped his damp lips and nostrils on the back of his free hand before thrusting the bills out toward him, as if nothing at all had occurred.
“Uhh, bless you.” Eddie offered, hearing the thinly veiled disgust (and something else) in his own voice. He could have sworn he actually felt the germs being transferred from paper to skin as he slid the tainted money into his pocket, making sure not to graze his erection as he went.
Billy said nothing, didn’t even so much as grunt, just stared Eddie down with those cold blue eyes and held out his empty hand for the drugs. Eddie pressed the bag into his palm, trying not to stare but failing as Billy used the thumb and forefinger of his other hand to swipe at his nostrils – pinching them shut before pulling down towards his septum, transferring the dampness to his fingertips.
“Always a pleasure, Hargrove.” Eddie muttered under his breath, snapping his lunch box closed and turning to make his way the fuck off the property and back to the safe, germless confines of his van. He flinched at the sudden sensation of Billy gripping his shoulder tight. A confusing wave of disgust and arousal flowed through him as he realised it was the hand he had just been using to tend to his nose.
“Wait. Do you have any joints, pre-rolled?”
Eddie did, but they were his.
“I do, but they’re mine. Let go.”
He attempted to free himself from the grip, but Billy squeezed tighter. Accepting a quick defeat, he rolled his eyes and reached into the interior pocket of his jacket. With crazies like Hargrove, when they were on one like this, it was better to give them what they wanted. For a price, of course. He held it up so that Billy could see but not reach.
“I want another ten for this.”
He was absolutely pushing his luck, and he knew it. If Billy got violent, he’d cut his losses and fork it over, but he may as well try and milk the situation just a little. To his surprise, Billy just nodded, letting go of his shoulder and rooting around in his pocket for another bill. When he handed it over with no fanfare, Eddie handed him the joint and eagerly snatched at the money.
He was about to leave again when he noticed Billy, joint perched in his mouth, patting his own leather jacket up and down and cussing under his breath. He should have just turned and gone, would have under any other circumstances. If Billy the bigot couldn’t find his lighter, it was no skin off his teeth. It’s just, he had absolutely ripped the guy off, and he was clearly sick…
“Need a light?” He offered, flipping his own lighter open.
Billy regarded him for a moment before grunting, securing the joint between two fingers and allowing Eddie to lean forward and light the tip for him. He took a long drag before exhaling the smoke out of his nostrils – something Eddie had seen him do a number of times before, but never with such a miserably stuffy nose. Billy was coughing almost instantly before a shaky inhale tipped his blonde head backwards in preparation for another bout of sneezing.
His nostrils looked great when they flared like that, Eddie thought to himself, no longer giving a fuck about his lingering gaze now that it was evident Billy was entirely incapacitated by the tickle in his nose. He watched through unblinking eyes as those pinkening nostrils flared to capacity, stomach fluttering a little as Billy took in that final, heaving breath before he was pushed over the edge.
“Hh’RRISCHHhh’uh!! HaHH’TSCCHhhh!! ‘TTtSCHHhhttt!!”
A triple this time. Eddie watched as Billy sprayed the air thrice, each sneeze increasing in sloppy intensity and sending shivers of pleasure down his spine. The thought of catching those sneezes with his palm, feeling the force and drenching wetness of them first-hand sent such a sudden rush of blood to his stiffening cock that he almost swooned with it.
Billy appeared just as winded post-sneeze as Eddie felt. He hated that he felt pity for the guy, knew he didn’t deserve it, but it was there all the same, tugging at his goddamn heartstrings. He should just go. Instead, he opened his big, dumb mouth.
“You shouldn’t be smoking that shit when you’re sick, man.”
“Fuck off. I’m not sick.” Billy sniffled thickly, glaring at him as he took another drag from the joint and exhaling through his mouth this time.
“Right, sure. And I’m the pope. You clearly have the fucking disease that’s left Hawkins High on its knees this past couple of weeks.”
Billy pointedly ignored him. Eddie carried on anyway.
“You graduated, man. What the fuck are you doing at a high school party, other than swapping spit with some poor teenage girls who don’t know any better – who totally, by the way, gave you a fucking radio-active strain of influenza.”
Billy stared at him, that icy-cold gaze that normally looked so composed and lifeless seeming just a little more heated than usual.
“Do you ever shut the fuck up, freak?”
“No, not really.”
“Maybe you fucking should. Burnout retard, still in High School at twenty and selling drugs to those ‘poor teenage girls’. Nobody cares what you think.”
He heard this shit on the daily from various douchebag jocks. It was nothing new. His normal response would have been to laugh, make some kind of overly theatrical gesture and walk away. For whatever reason – the fact that he had been concerned for this scumbag, the fact that he was freezing cold, the fact that he hated this party with a passion, who knew – he opened his mouth again.
“Yeah? At least I don’t look and sound like a fucking human petri dish of disease, sniffles.”
Billy came at him so fast he didn’t even have time to blink before he was slammed up against the wall, head smacking painfully back onto the brick.
“Mother fucker!” He hissed in pain, reaching up to grab at Billy’s wrists as he gripped him by his jacket. “Get the fuck off me, psycho!”
Billy smirked at him, leaned up close enough that for one terrifying, exhilarating second, Eddie thought he was going to kiss him.
“I’ll show you disease, you piece of shit.” Billy muttered, so close Eddie could feel the warmth of his breath as his lips all but grazed his own.
“What are you…” Eddie started before realisation spread through his veins like icy water. That familiar snarl of irritation was back, Billy’s nostrils twitching wide, jaw yawning open as the tickle overpowered him again. The metalhead was entranced for a beat, felt his traitorous cock throbbing in his jeans. This was like one of the private fantasies he would stroke himself off to, as whatever flavour of the month he fixated on would sneeze for him over and over in his mind, except this was actually happening. He could actually feel the puffs of Billy’s choppy inhales and exhales, watch the stretch and flare of his pretty, round nostrils as he built-up to what was sure to be another drenching explosion.
It was as he heard Billy take in that final, cinching breath that he snapped out of his lust-filled haze and started to push the younger man backwards, his grip having been temporarily weakened by the all-encompassing hold of the culminating tickle. He wasn’t fast enough though - the first wet sneeze hit him squarely in the face, spray bursting over him and forcing his eyes to reflexively squeeze shut.
“HAAHh’TSSCHHTtt!!!”
Eddie continued to push him, utilising Billy’s total surrender to his illness to unbalance him. He opened his eyes to watch the younger man stagger backwards, a second sneeze barrelling out of him and gracing the frigid air (and Eddie’s chin and neck) with a wide arc of germ-filled spray.
“HH’RRRSSCHhh’ww!!”
He stumbled forward onto one knee, inhaling again and tipping his head back for the most violent, definitive sneeze of the fit.
“HhHH’RISSSCHHH!!! Ough…”
This last sneeze sprayed juicy droplets of mess across the grass in front of him, so powerful that a couple of drops splattered the toes of Eddie’s sneakers. Billy looked up at him with a sick look of smugness and pleasure.
Eddie stared down at him in disbelief. When Billy started to chuckle like a fucking maniac, snot dripping from his nose all while he looked up at Eddie with those empty eyes, something snapped. He kicked Billy right in the sternum, forcing a winded groan out of him and sending him sprawling backwards onto the grass. Eddie lunged at him, straddling his torso before landing a series of punches all over his pretty-boy face. He had the sense to swing with his right arm only, sparing Billy the impact of the three heavy rings on his left hand, if only to avoid damage enough that he wouldn’t be spending a regrettable night at Hawkins police station.
Five punches in, Eddie realised Billy wasn’t fighting back. His stomach dropped, and for a brief moment of panic he thought he’d knocked him out or worse, but those fears were assuaged as Billy righted himself, head lolling back to rest on the grass as he stared back up at Eddie. The grin plastered to his face was deeply unnerving. He was also boiling hot; Eddie could feel the heat emanating off the torso between his thighs even through his jeans. Feeling the anger dissipate and wanting only to be as far away from the guy as possible, he scrambled to his feet. Billy continued to smirk up at him, even as his left cheek was starting to swell.
Eddie scrubbed at his face with his sleeve, a delayed reaction that would serve very little purpose at this point but gave him something to do to break eye contact.
“I’m charging you double from now on, you dumb motherfucker.” He spat, knowing even as he said it that it was a bluff.
Billy continued to lie back on the grass and started laughing like a total fucking maniac. Eddie had had enough – he was an expert at throwing people off their game but Hargrove was on a completely different level. He was genuinely batshit insane. He snatched his lunch box off the ground and stomped his way down the expansive garden towards the street. He heard Billy’s laughter trail off, grateful for the temporary reprieve until he heard a telltale gasp.
“HuHH’TSSSCHHH’uu!! Hah-!! TSCCCHHHSsstt!!”
Even through the anger, the discomfort, the disgust, his stomach still fluttered at the sound of them. Several minutes later he was back in his van, debating whether or not to claw his own facial skin off, cursing under his breath as he fumbled to start his sputtering engine. He wasn’t escaping this fucking sickness, no way in hell. Not after Billy had…He shook his head, still in genuine shock and some degree of self-recrimination for simply not walking away the second he saw that psycho approaching him. The fever must have fried the guy’s fucking brain, because what the fuck. What the fuck.
His engine finally roared to life and he was peeling down the road far faster than was both advisable and legal. He wanted nothing more than to strip naked and scrub himself germ-free before collapsing into his bed and pretending this entire evening had never happened. Never mind that he was hard as a rock. He definitely didn’t need to address the fact that the second he was in the shower his hand would be creeping down his stomach before wrapping his erection in a firm grip. No need to dwell on how he would probably be coming against the tiled wall until his legs were shaking, conjuring both the image of Billy’s pink nostrils flared to perfect circles, and the sound of his cold-induced sneezes as they burst across his skin.
He stomped on the gas, letting the thrill of his reckless driving drown out the uncomfortable thoughts, at least until he made it back to the trailer.
