A doctor asked me yesterday "if it hurts that much, why don't you scream when it hurts"

I have been thinking about it since, and I think I've come up with an answer in four bullet points

- the last time we screamed in pain, we were told by a series of doctors to stop being so dramatic and suck it up

- it's been six years of this. We're so used to it that the screams don't come anymore.

- people who grew up as women and girls are constantly told to sit down, shut up and push through the pain, even if they're immobile, especially if it's period related

- ..and, not wanting to be a bother to anyone.
