Ok, so since I posted one I kind of had to post all my Fluevog babies. 😝
The Gambinos with the Fluevog embroidery were my first. I also wanted to get the plain version but was too late to get them in my size. They were new from the Flueveog store when I bought them.
The Hamburgers were second and I have never in my life paid as much for an article of clothing or accessory as I did for them 😅 but it was well worth it. Like new from thirty years ago off Ebay and in my size! These are my absolute treasure babies.
And finally the purple Fluevog/G.Cox collab ones. That time I was only looking for purple boots cause I really wanted purple boots. The fact that they turned out to be Fluevogs was a complete coincidence, but I'm not complaining. 😝 These are also the most worn and I will have to give them some TLC but I still love them a lot.
20 year ago today we lost the Dapper Don. Love him or hate him, there is no doubt the legacy he left behind. 110% Cosa Nostra to his last breath, the man ate, slept and breathed the mafia. He took a life sentence on the chin, and refused to conform even after he developed throat and neck cancer. #johngotti #gotti #gambinofamily #gambinos #gottigotti #mafia #boss #made #berginhuntandfishclub #ozonepark #theravenite #mulberrystreet #gangster #johntravolta #armandassante #paulcastellano #sammythebull #sammygravano #5families #straightenedout (at Scottsdale, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CepcZ-NLWJO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"This Is America" is a song by American rapper Childish Gambino (Donald Glover). Written and produced by Gambino and Ludwig Göransson, with additional writing credits going to American rapper Young Thug. Ludwig Göransson is also the person behind the score of the Mandalorian and the Black Panther movies, as well as Gambino's old sitcom series Community.
The lyrics and accompanying music video, reflecting the core of the Black Lives Matter movement, confront issues of ongoing systemic racism, including prejudice, racial violence, the ghetto, and law enforcement in the United States, as well as the wider issues of mass shootings and gun violence in the United States. Originally, Gambino intended it to be a diss record towards fellow rapper Drake.
"This Is America" became the 31st song to debut at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming both Gambino's first number one and top ten single in the country. It has also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The song won in all four of its nominated categories at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Music Video. This made Gambino the first hip-hop artist to win Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and "This Is America" the first rap song to win these awards.
The music video was directed by Hiro Murai and released on YouTube simultaneously with Gambino's performance of the song on Saturday Night Live. The video received about 12.9 million views in 24 hours. Billboard critics ranked it 10th among the "greatest music videos of the 21st century." The video won the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage Award for Best Cinematography in a Music Video, as well as previously mentioned the Grammy Award for Best Music Video.
"This Is America" recieved a total of 62,3% yes votes!
Not only was it awesome to see Donald Glover make a live-action cameo in Across the Spider Verse,
I find it absolutely HILARIOUS that Disney/MCU Spider-Man was NOWHERE to be seen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse but both Toby Mcguire's and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man were given cameos 😂
Edit: How did I forget that even the cashier from the Venom movies, Mrs. Chen, even got a live action cameo!!
For my moots & followers who have seen all the Kendrick/Drake stuff and now want to get into rap/hip hop- I have some recs!
From Kendrick: Good Kid M.A.D.D. City was my introduction to K Dot & was one of the first vinyls I ever bought. It is phenomenal. I also highly recommend the rest of his discography. Mr. Morale specifically has been referenced quite a bit in the last few days.
Paris Texas! Their album MID AIR is one of my favorites of all time & their earlier stuff is great as well.
clipping. makes really interesting horror rap with a message. Splendor & Misery is one of my favorite albums from them, the sci-fi story telling is phenomenal.
Vince Staples' Summertime '06 is another one of my favorites of all time. His other work is great as well, especially Big Fish Theory.
Backxwash has got to be one of my favorite rappers. Her albums are deep and phenomenally made. I LIE HERE BURIED WITH MY RINGS AND MY DRESSES was my introduction to her and remains one of my favorite albums of all time (especially her collabs with Ada Rook).
I'm sure most people know Childish Gambino but I'll mention him just in case. Zealots of Stockholm from Because the Internet changed my ideas and expectations about music for good.
Run the Jewels!!! One of my faves & a great duo to see live. RTJ 2 was my introduction to them & remains a favorite. Check out Meow the Jewels as well, it's great.
Kent Osborne- his tracks go especially hard. If you like the combo of electric guitar & rap that Paris Texas does, definitely check out Kent's stuff.
This is getting long so here's a little list to give you some more to check out- Changeline (phenomenal skill), Black Dresses (WASTEISOLATION is in top 5 albums of all time for me), Tobe Nwigwe (Round Here is a fave), Injury Reserve, Megan Thee Stallion (Hiss really kicked off this current situation, go listen to it right now), ALT BLK ERA (obsessed with Obsession), Rico Nasty, and Flyana Boss!
If you have recs I'd love to hear them <3 Happy listening!
