to add on to the humans are space orcs/earth is the universe's australia, sensing. my therapist has recently explained that its not normal the way i know who and where someone is by their footsteps. not just the sound, but the vibrations. if someone isnt purposely walking on light feet, i can tell who and where they are, even with headphones blaring. imagine a human on a ship and the awe-filled terror itd earn from their non-human crewmates.
edit: ive realized i wasnt clear enough in my intentions. im not saying "if you can tell peoples footsteps apart, youve been ✨️ T R A U M A T I Z E D ✨️ d-(^♡^)-b ". its about the inherent panic in Not hearing the steppies and therefore Not having the time to prepare yourself for whoever might be approaching and essentially being ambushed. also, being able to tell if someone is normalTM, happy, sad, et cetera. the combined terror of not being given time to make oneself "presentable" for whoevers coming, And Also whoever has just seemingly teleported is fucking pissed, which is never good. Anyways, enjoy!!! \(^o^)/
Gilith enters the library, searching for Human Raven. They seem to be found most often either here or in one of the many gardens on the ship. Human Alex said he'd likely find them here today.
Gilith pokes his head through the doorway, not seeing Human Raven, but before he can move on, a voice calls out from one of the high-backed chairs decorating the library.
"Hello Lithy, what do you need?"
Gilith sputters, "Wha- Human Raven, how did you know it was me?" Gilith makes his way over to the chair that held Human Raven in a twisted knot that, when Human Raven stood up, would surely leave a horrifying crunch Human Alex had likened to a human candy that exploded in one's mouth.
"You've got some loud stompers, Lithy."
"I do not know what that means, Human Raven."
Raven stands, causing Gilith to flinch at many snaps and crackles of their bones settling into place, and smiles up at his towering form.
"What did you need?"
Gilith notices more and more Human Raven's greetings. He thought maybe they could hear him coming, but they greeted him while wearing ear speakers, the volume so loud, Gilith could hear it from a few feet away.
Humans did not have psychic skills, and the only other human who seemed capable of a preemptive greeting was Human Alex. The two seemed to share all of their off-hours, so maybe that was where he could find his answers.
Gilith scoured the many gardens, stopping just outside of the doorway. He could hear Human Alex and Human Raven chattering to each other, but neither seemed to notice his presence.
In an attempt not to disturb them, he walked with what Human Bea had described as "tip-toes". A challenging feat, considering his round flat feet, but he managed.
Both Human Raven and Human Alex had their backs to him, so he coughed in the same way Human Bea often did to get everyone's attention.
The reaction he got was unexpected when both Human Raven and Human Alex flinched so hard their shoulders seemed to lock.
"My apologies! I didn't mean to startle you," he rushed over, but stopped short when they both flinched again. He recoiled his hand.
"It's ok, Lithy," Raven says, voice slightly choked. "Just give us a sec."
"Oh. Okay." Gilith turned his eyes down.
"What-" Alex started, his voice sounding as though it was rubbed raw. He cleared his throat and tried again. "What can we do for you, Gilith?"
"I did not have anything specific to talk to you about. I wanted to..." he trails off. "I wanted to inform you of the new plants we are picking up at the next trade planet."
Gilith feels his face twist with the lie, but now didn't seem like a good time to ask.
His desire to understand, however, doesn't fade after the incident. It only makes his hunger grow.
Instead of bothering Human Alex or Human Raven, Gilith decides to ask Human Bea, who does not sense him before he greets her.
"Hello, Human Bea."
"Yes, hello, Gilith. Is everything okay?"
"I have question."
Bea tilts her head. "Ask away."
"Are you- humans- able to detect someone before you see them?"
Bea's face softens into an aching sort of frown. "Not naturally."
"What do you mean?"
She takes a breath, seemingly preparing herself. "Well, most people are able to live in a relatively safe place. But some people aren't as lucky. Some people have to memorize the falls of others' feet. It's a learned survival tactic."
"I don't understand," Gilith says, his face wrinkling in confusion.
"Some people aren't safe, so for the ones who weren't born with the good luck of a safe home, they have to know who and where someone is. They have to know if they need to hide or prepare themself. They have to know if they're in danger or not."
Gilith feels his whole body go slack as a wave of sadness washes over him at the memory of Human Raven and Human Alex's reaction to his sudden appearance.
"I have loud stompers."
Bea's face scrunches up as though she's trying not to laugh. "You do. You have safe stompers, too."

------
"LUCY!!"
my phone was on call to lucy as i stood on a chair in the middle of my hotel room.
"jesus y/n, what is it?"
"there's a spider in my room and i need you to get it out."
i could hear her laughing at me on the other line but i didn't care.
"luce i'm serious. please come save me from the spider."
"okay okay, i'll be there soon princess."
she threw the nickname at me before clicking off the call. it wasn't that long before i heard a knock at my door. i had a feeling i knew who it was.
"come in!"
"y/n, you need to open the door for me."
"can't, the spider might get me. just use your spare keycard. i gave it to you when we got here."
i could hear her mutter through the doorway but i wasn't about to start arguing with the person who was potentially getting rid of the eight-legged critter.
when lucy walked in she surveyed the room, including me standing atop a chair and laughed.
"where's the spider?"
"over there."
i pointed and she walked over, crouched down and laughed again.
"y/n, this thing isn't even that big."
i simply poked my tongue out at her.
"just get it out please luce."
she picked up the thing on a piece of paper and threw it out the window. then she walked over to me, picked me up off the chair and placed me on the ground.
"thankyou."
i hugged the taller woman and she looked down at me with a grin.
"anytime, princess."
——
that was now a day ago and since then lucy had talked to kiera and lauren. she'd had a thing for y/n for months and they knew.
"i don't think she likes me, kie. she doesn't pick up any hints, no matter how big."
"luce i'm sure she does like you, she's just a bit oblivious."
"why don't you just tell her? i don't think she'd reject you, have you seen yourself?"
hempo interjected and lucy looked at her like she'd seen a ghost.
"hempo, i can't. i don't even know if she likes girls."
"luce, just see how she is tomorrow at breakfast and go from there."
kiera calmed the girl down.
——
it was now breakfast. once everyone had filed down for breakfast and eaten, we were given strict orders to get dressed in warm-weather appropriate gear.
sarina told us there'd been a change of plans. we ended up going to the gardens nearby and going for a walk there. i was walking alongside hempo and kiera, just chatting and occasionally laughing at how much lego lauren had bought in the short time span we'd been in australia.
"so y/n, how's your social life going, met any guys? any girls?"
kiera slipped a question in, casually asking me about my love life.
"no kie, i haven't met anyone. i don't like boys anyways, i thought that was a known fact."
kiera seemed somewhat excited about that bit, but i didn't catch her send a pointed look towards lauren who peeled off and went to walk with lucy.
"i didn't know that actually. do you like anyone then?"
it was an unusual slew of questions coming from kiera but i brushed it off thinking she just wanted to get to know me.
"i mean, not really? i'm kinda just focused on football."
"ok, but say if you had to date anyone on the team, who would you choose?"
lauren had come back to join us by now and caught what kiera had asked.
"well lucy's pretty fit, i'd date her in a heartbeat if she liked me. but other than that the rest of you are just my friends."
kiera hummed, then lauren piped up.
"did you see that freehand lego she made? that was incredible."
kiera took that as her signal to walk with lucy and me and lauren continued talking about lucy's lego.
until i felt a hand touch the back of my head and i whipped around. it was just lucy though and i relaxed.
"sorry you had a leaf in your hair, princess."
"thanks luce."
we walked together for a bit, lauren had doubled back to walk with kiera, i was betting that the pair was watching us like a hawk.
"so kiera told me about your little conversation. you'd date me, huh?"
lucy had a smirk on her face, while i blushed immediately.
"of course she told you. i mean, you are fit."
now it was lucy's turn to blush a little. she was quiet for a second but spoke softly when she did reply.
"y'know i like you, y/n."
"i like you too luce."
i grinned up at her, but was a bit confused by her expression.
"no, like more than a friend, y/n. i like you and want to date you."
now i understood why kiera asked me all those questions. and why lucy was always touchy with me and called me 'princess'.
"i've liked you for a while. months."
and i was shocked again. i couldn't believe it hat i was hearing and how i didn't notice. i felt so guilty.
"lucy i'm so sorry i didn't realise. i like you too and i would love to date you. but now i feel bad because i've been so oblivious."
"so can i take you on a date?"
lucy had gotten slightly shy now, a blush sitting on her cheeks.
"yes, you can take me on a date. pick me up on wednesday at 6. i know a place."

Former 1870 bakery superbly converted to a home in Carlton North, Victoria, Australia, a suburb of Melbourne. It stayed a bakery until 1967 and had 3 horse stables on the side that are now bedrooms. 7bds, 4ba, $1.475M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has a huge living room that opens to the courtyard. Love the ceiling and the the pipe that is a hint of the building's former life. Isn't the corner fireplace cute?
Tumblr media
I love the open airy layout, but if you want completely open concept, this home is not for you. Isn't the kitchen lovely? It has a huge island and row of windows that face the courtyard and let in lots of sunshine.
Tumblr media
Isn't the dining room fabulous? And look at the atrium in the middle of the house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This lovely bedroom has a glass door that opens to the atrium. How beautiful is that?
Tumblr media
The upper level bedroom has vaulted ceilings, beams, and doors to a terrace. It might be the primary suite.
Tumblr media
This could either be a casual dining room, a library or a den.
Tumblr media
A kitchen table is in this wing, which is very light and open.
Tumblr media
The current owners have this area set up as a home office. This home certainly brings the outdoors in.
Tumblr media
A secondary bedroom that opens to the patio has a lovely beamed ceiling.
Tumblr media
The architectural feature in this bedroom gives it a lot of interest. It appears to be one of the stable bedrooms.
Tumblr media
This home has an awful lot of tables and chairs. I guess the owners didn't know what else to do to with all the space, but this table is next to the kitchen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is another dining room with doors to the garden. There's a sofa and book shelving, so this room would make a nice den or even an art studio.
Tumblr media
This nice bedroom has its own en-suite and would make a great guest room.
Tumblr media
Cute cheery room for children.
Tumblr media
Isn't the garden beautiful?
Tumblr media
This little cobblestone alley is an entrance.
Tumblr media
That must be Melbourne in the background, so it's not far from the city.
Tumblr media
There's this diagram, but the realtor doesn't give the dimensions of the property.

bang chan..
Fingers typed furiously for a moment before a silent beat echoed in his head and then his finger was hitting the delete button until the white page was once again staring back at him. Glancing back at to where you sat, fully engrossed in the book you had brought, Chan only groaned as he pushed his chair back and began pacing in his small studio. It was supposed to be a quick writing session before going shopping for the trip back to Australia. Consumed in his own head, he chewed on his lip and continued to walk in small circles, failing to notice the way you had put your book down and watched him with a small head tilt. The feeling of your fingers pulling his shirt back startled him as he crashed into your lap, only to immediately melt into your hold as your arms wrapped around him. Slow down, hmm, you mumbled into his back pressing a quick kiss on his back. Giggling to himself, he adjusted so that he was sitting between your legs, back pressing into your chest just existing in the moment.
minho..
The sun had set long ago but that didn’t stop you two from wandering the streets, grabbing snacks at different vendor stalls along the river walk. Stopping under a tree, Minho quickly told you to pose for a few photos before switching with him, so he had a few photos to post for stays. Turning back to you, he couldn’t help the small chuckle that escaped his lips as he watched you plop onto the bench that was nearby, tossing your head back to look up at the night sky. Snapping a quick photo, he made his way over to stand by you, tipping his head back to get the same view as you, missing how your attention was already back on him. Before he could even register what was going on, he pulled into your lap, yelping when he felt your cold fingers press against the bare skin of his back under his shirt. I’m cold¸ he heard you whine, and I thought you looked cold too so I figured we could pause and warm each other up. Honestly he couldn’t argue with your train of thought so instead, he wiggled in your lap, fine, a few minutes of this then back to the dorm for proper cuddles, he said with a head nod.
changbin..
There was a level of surprise when you had showed up at his door, dressed ready for the gym, shyly asking to tag along for the first time since you two had gotten together. Changbin knew that you weren’t self-conscious to be at the gym, it was more being at the gym with him since he was an avid goer and you only recently decided to start going more. Using different machines, he caught himself watching you in between his sets, smiling to himself as you work through your own sets, with a cute look of determination on your face. After some time, you ended up using the equipment next to him, causing his body to gravitate towards you only to be pulled down into his lap. Caught off guard, he didn’t know how to react until you whispered, people won’t stop staring at me, can you just sit here for a moment? Instead of cooing at you for making him feel loved, protective mood was on as he stared down the few people, he noticed hadn’t taken their eyes off of you.
hyunjin..
A breeze blew through both of your hair as you wandered through the back garden of the museum you had just spent hours in. Hyunjin couldn’t help but fall a little bit more in love with you as you explained that you had packed his sketch book and supplies so that he could draw as much as he wanted too here. Grabbing your hand, he led you around the area, circling to find the best place for you to sit so that he could draw you surrounded by the incredible nature, knowing full well that he would be setting it as his phone background for the next several months. Finally settling on a place, he quickly gets distracted with where he wants to lay out his jacket for you to sit on, completely unaware of how you had sat on the bench, eye solely focused on him before he felt himself losing balance and being pulled down. A loud squeak was released before slamming his hand over his mouth, with wide eyes looking back at you. Can we be one of those cute couples that everyone envies? you blinked at him, a small smile pulling at your lips. Feeling a blush creep across his face, he hums his agreement adding you are the most adorable thing in my world.
han..
For a brief moment, Han felt like the worst boyfriend to ever exist, simply because he had trapped you in the small sound booth not realizing that the door locked from the outside. After apologizing for what felt like five minutes, he now was darting back and forth, dragging his hands through his hair trying to explain to you that the other members were on their way to rescue them. Staring at your face, he couldn’t quite read the expression that was there as you closed your eyes and took a long breath. Pivoting on his heels, he tried to make it to the other side of the tiny room only to be pulled backwards and into your lap. Silence fell before you exhaled, please stop moving for five seconds, it’s making me sicker than I already feel, leaning your head back against the wall. Something broke in Han’s brain as he sat in your lap, a foreign place he never thought he'd be, but hearing your words, folded his hands in his lap and sat as still as he fought the urge to bounce his leg up and down.
felix..
Walking through the front door of the dorm, Felix was so happy to see that your shoes hadn’t moved an inch from where you left them the night before. Entering the room more, he finds you on the couch watching your favorite drama with Minho asleep on the floor, likely having gotten home only an hour or so before him. The overwhelming feeling of the day started to settle into his bones and the long hours of practice making his legs wobbly as he tried to make it over to the couch instead of the floor like his hyung. Arms wrapped around his waist as he was tugged down not only into the couch but also into your warm lap. Everything inside Felix starts to feel like it’s on fire as you hug him closer to you causing any lingering stress to melt away. Long day? You whispered to him, affecting his body forcing it to simply melt a little bit more into you as his eyes closed not finding the strength to respond.
seungmin..
A part of him couldn’t quite figure out how you had managed to get into Chan’s studio but the other part of him was silently celebrating whatever you did to be there. It had been days since Seungmin had been able to see you in person, having to instead settle for video calls at odd hours of the day. He had only grabbed Chan’s studio because he knew that he was at the gym and Seungmin just wanted a quiet place to write a few lyrics that had been plaguing his brain since the last time he had seen you. Seeing you again, helped him finish the remaining lyrics that seemed to have evaded him until now. Standing up to stretch, he felt the tug on the back of his shirt as he lost his balance and landed in your lap. A silent question pressed on his tongue at what you were thinking since you were at JYP. I missed you a lot, can we just stay like this for a bit? you pouted at him, making the unasked question dissipate from his mouth being replaced with only until someone comes, shifting so that he doesn’t crush you.
jeongin..
Pulling his hat a little lower, he pulled you along to avoid the growing crowd that seemed to be filling the small shopping area. Jeongin knew that you didn’t love the large crowds, especially if they were fans because they sometimes got too close for your comfort. Looking for a quiet corner, he led you over to the less populated sitting area, letting you sit but keeping his fingers laced with yours while he looked out at everyone to assess if it was time to go for the day. Before he could blink, he was in your lap, immediately trying to wiggle this way out of your hold forcing his body to stop when he heard you whisper, please just stay here, I like the weight of you right now. Feeling like his chest was just punched, he adjusted how he was sitting so that some of his weight was on you but not enough to cause any pain. Playing with your fingers, he thought of how strange it felt to be in your lap since normally you were in his, and then his mind drifted to how odd it was that he was allowing it in public.
♡ ── thank you love for reading! requests are open.

Hi! Could I request something with adult Newt Scamander? Like, maybe having a cute moment while doing some gardening with him? That's so cottagecore hufflepuff newt Scamander fluff
Fem or gender neutral reader if you decide to do it 😅 thank you!!
OOOOOOOO
Yes. Yes. Yes.
This is very cute! I love the concept. I think I may have to throw some angst in there. Imagine the reader and Newt are still in that pining phase, and feelings are revealed along the way.
I've started concocting a lil sm sm and am putting a lil snippet of progress below! So, stay tuned :)
Words: 0.6K, Pairing: Newt Scamander x gn!reader (ravenclaw)
You had a green thumb. You were convinced of it by how your fingers traced the dew drops on your newly sprouted strawberries. They were small, not quite showing deep red hues, but they were there.  Excitement bubbled in your chest. Your inner Ravenclaw finally became content, finally proving to your old Herbology professor that you truly could excel in all subjects.
The sun's warmth was just settling on the leaves of the small garden, creating a humid mist. It was far too early to knock on Newt’s case. The picture was already in your head—him startled, sleep marks mirroring the indents of the desk he laid his head on. Either that, or he was still awake, not quite ready to call it a night, or let alone realize the next day was already creeping up.
That time already? He’d ask innocently, hoping it would ease the look you shot him. Yet, if it had to come down to it, he knew what could truly thaw your glare. Anything new in your garden?
“Strawberries.” The voice that startled you was small, barely perceptible in the soft breeze.
“You’re up?” You brushed the dirt off your hands to busy yourself.  The only time Newt was up before you was when he was leaving. To hide your frown, you turned to your trowel to fiddle with. “Where are you off to this time?”
“Australia,” Newt commented. “Poachers have been taking Acromantuas there.”
Talking about his creatures, Newt naturally rambled. The spiders were taken from their homes under the guise of protection, only to be taken to Australian farms to be bred. You wondered how he followed and tracked all the peculiarities, but over the years, you learned it was pure instinct.
Newt watched your gaze travel, thinking your interest in what he had to say was lost. Yet, he missed how your gaze covered your thoughts of how you would miss his company. His time away varied, and you’d grown accustomed to the chattering of creatures and an extra mouth to feed.
“Have breakfast before you leave.” You decided for him, already pushing yourself from the ground to match his height.
The kitchen table was small, meant for one person, as was the home itself. It was charming, cozy, and away from the noise of any city. The chairs pulled up at the table were mismatched and caused your knees to hit Newt’s with every shared meal habitually.
You noted Newt’s comfortability off of it all, of your company. No longer did he blush and apologize with every knock on the knee, but instead, he leaned into it. Or so that’s how you wished to imagine it.
“How long will you be gone?” The question felt caught at the back of your throat. Once relieved of its position, you sat up a bit straighter.
Newt’s eyes were on your crossed leg, which pulled away from his own. Subconscious or not, he offered you a questioning expression.
“You’ve never asked me that before…” The comment slipped out with pure curiosity, without realizing the repercussions of the blunt tone. “I-I mean, you…you just, I won’t be…” He paused with a nervous laugh before pushing out the rest, “...I won’t be gone long.”
You hummed in thought, your eyes cast down.“You may miss out on the strawberries, is all.”
I’ll miss you, is what you meant to get across. You confessed the feeling in your chest to yourself, but you hadn’t attempted to share it. You planned to take it to the grave.
“I’m sure there will be plenty,” Newt encouraged knowingly. “Your garden has been growing beautifully.”
Although the one to offer the compliment, Newt was bashful. The compliments weren’t frequent, but their existence caused a welcomed ripple in your chest.

How do I choose the perfect materials for outdoor tables in Australia?
Choosing the best materials for outdoor tables is crucial for ensuring durability and longevity, especially in the Australian climate. Let's dive into a comprehensive guide to help you make an informed decision.
1.Timber: Timber is a popular choice for outdoor tables due to its natural beauty and durability. Hardwoods like teak, jarrah, and spotted gum are renowned for their resistance to decay and insect damage, making them ideal for Australian outdoor settings. TK Tables offers a range of stunning Outdoor Tables crafted from premium quality timber, ensuring both style and durability.
2. Metal: Metal outdoor tables, such as those made from aluminium or stainless steel, are known for their strength and resilience. Aluminium tables are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them perfect for coastal areas. Stainless steel tables offer durability and a sleek modern aesthetic.
3. Wicker: Wicker or synthetic rattan outdoor tables provide a classic yet contemporary look. Synthetic wicker is weather-resistant, UV-stable, and requires minimal maintenance, making it an excellent choice for Australian outdoor spaces.
4. Composite Materials: Composite materials, such as recycled plastic or composite wood, offer the look of natural timber without the maintenance. These materials are resistant to rot, fading, and insects, making them ideal for low-maintenance outdoor tables.
5. Concrete: Concrete outdoor tables are sturdy, durable, and versatile. They can withstand harsh weather conditions and require minimal maintenance.
In conclusion, when choosing materials for outdoor tables, consider factors such as durability, maintenance, style, and budget. With TK Tables' range of premium Outdoor Tables crafted from high-quality materials, you can create a stylish and inviting outdoor space that withstands the test of time.
Explore our collection at www.tktables.com.au and elevate your outdoor experience with TK Tables' Outdoor Tables.

Where are all the places Teddy has gone?
Shew! I'm not sure I can list all of those, are countries ok? He's been to - The Philippines, The Bahamas, The USA, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China (Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, depending how you view the SARs), Australia, New Zealand and Singapore (But only the airport so does that even count?... hands down the best airport Teddy's ever been to though--Free lower leg/foot massage chairs all over the place, butterfly garden, cactus garden etc.) The only problem is the more that Teddy sees the more he realizes that he hasn't seen much at all, yet. The world is so big with so much beauty to uncover. Teddy has learned that people are people, it doesn't matter what you look like, we are all the same and we're all different.

|Chapter 4|
Tumblr media
Colonel Brandon eased his horse down the familiar path leading to his estate, feeling each familiar dip and rise in the land beneath him. His mind wandered back to the harsh eight months spent on military assignments in the West Indies and Australia—a grueling tour of duty that tested his resolve and drained his spirit. The relentless sun, the unyielding sea, and the stern faces of men hardened by constant peril filled his thoughts, but with each hoofbeat toward home, the weight of those days began to lift.
As he rode, Brandon's thoughts inevitably turned to his personal life, or rather, the lack of it. Over the years, his military engagements had often come at the expense of his private happiness. Love had brushed past him, a whisper of what might have been, leaving him with memories of opportunities lost. Now, with what he hoped was his final mission behind him, a wave of sentimentality washed over him. Perhaps it was time to find someone to share in the quiet moments, someone whose love matched the fervor of his own. Yet, as he contemplated this possibility, he shook his head, dismissing it as unlikely fortune.
Upon arriving at his estate, he was greeted with the warm and familiar faces of his staff. Their genuine smiles and respectful nods were a balm to his weary soul. After a long bath to wash away the grime of his travels and a change into fresh garments, he was gently reminded by a maid that dinner awaited him.
Sitting alone at the grand dining table, surrounded by opulence meant for many, the empty chairs echoed his earlier musings. The possibility of sharing his life with someone seemed even more poignant now. Lost in these thoughts, a servant approached, presenting him with a letter sealed with Sir John Middleton's familiar stamp.
Breaking the seal, Brandon read about Sir John's understanding of the hardships he had faced and the invitation to a forthcoming garden party. The letter hinted at relaxation and perhaps, more intriguingly, the prospect of finding someone special. Sir John’s words, suggesting it was high time he found a companion who could love as deeply as he did, stirred something within him. Sighing he put the letter aside and finished his dinner in contemplative silence. He then withdrew to his study, where he hoped to immerse himself in anything that would distract himself from Sir Middleton's invitation. However, that proved easier said than done.
The Colonel, ensconced in his study and gradually immersing himself in the depths of his botanical tome, felt a lingering unrest stirring within him. As he pondered Sir John Middleton's invitation, the ramifications of attending the party began to occupy more of his thoughts. The cool night air wafted through an open window, carrying with it the scent of the gardens below—those meticulously kept expanses that were, to him, both sanctuary and solitude.
He placed the book aside and walked over to the window, gazing out at the serene darkness settling over his estate. "It's an opportunity, is it not?" he spoke softly to himself, considering the gentle push from Sir John towards companionship. "A chance to step beyond these walls, not just in duty but perhaps for personal fulfillment as well."
Drawing in a deep breath, he continued, "I've seen much of the world—its wildness, its beauty, and its trials. Yet, here, in my own heart's landscape, there lies an uncharted territory." He paused, his reflection faintly visible against the glass. "Could there truly be someone at this party who might share such a vision? Someone to share not just idle chatter but the quieter, deeper conversations I've longed for?"
Colonel Brandon chuckled quietly at his own hopeful musings. "And what of love? A notion so easily spoken of by others but such a rare visitor to my own life." The thought seemed both a balm and a fear, a possibility he had often dismissed but which now seemed worth considering. "Well," he murmured, turning from the window, "perhaps the evening will reveal more than just the same old dance of social niceties. Perhaps."
He picked up his pen, his hand steadier now, and wrote a brief note of acceptance to Sir John's invitation. As he sealed the envelope, he allowed himself to entertain the hope, however slight, that this garden party might indeed be the catalyst for something new, something meaningful. "To new beginnings, however they may come," he whispered, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he handed the letter to his waiting servant.
Watching his servant leave with the letter, Colonel Brandon felt a subtle lift in his spirits, a slight loosening of the weight he had carried since his return. The decision made, there was now a sort of eagerness in him, a readiness to face whatever the garden party might bring, whether it be tedious company or delightful encounters.
He ascended the staircase to his bedchamber, his steps slow but steady. There, he opened the doors of his wardrobe, contemplating his attire for the upcoming occasion. He selected a fine, dark blue coat and matching waistcoat, which he laid out carefully on his bed, along with a crisply starched white shirt and a subtly patterned cravat. Ensuring everything was in order for the tailor's review on the morrow, he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
With his attire chosen, Colonel Brandon allowed himself a few moments of quiet reflection by the window, looking out over the moonlit grounds of his estate. The quiet of the night soothed his nerves, and a gentle breeze whispered through the open window, carrying with it the scent of the blooming gardens below.
Finally, feeling the day's weariness encroach once more, he extinguished the candles and settled into bed. As he lay in the darkness, his thoughts drifted to the forthcoming party, to the faces it might bring into his life, and to the faint, yet distinct possibility of finding someone who could truly share his heart and home. With these hopeful thoughts, he drifted into a peaceful sleep, the first in many nights not haunted by the shadows of the past.

2009 Lover Diaries Transcripts
Mar 17, 2009
Hi. It’s me, the girl who always forgets to write in her journal. Oh yea. Her. I just got back from Australia. It was there for 2 weeks and it was amazing. Gorgeous there. So… what else has happened since I wrote… I was on the cover of Rolling Stone. My tour has sold out every venue including Madison Square Garden (in 1 minute) and Staples Center (in 2). I somehow feel like it’s my destiny to roll my eyes at happy couples and resent Valentine’s Day. I also feel like I’m the girl before “the one.” I’m not he “the one.” I’m the girl you think is the one for you, and when it doesn’t work out with me, you meet the next girl and realize she IS the one. The one you’re gonna stay with. I might get married. But I think it’s ultimately my fate to light candles and pine away and roll my eyes at happy couples and resent Valentine’s Day. Taylor

I just got back from a trip to Canada that was absolutely refreshing and good for the soul. I never really knew what a good thing having no cell or internet could be. But it was a great thing. I did things a little differently up there, and I actually liked it. I started reading self-help books. It’s really uplifting knowing that you can change your life today, tomorrow … just by doing a few things you never thought of. Or doing things differently than you’ve done them before. New things I adopted from a self help book: Get up early. Keep your cool. Don’t tee off on people you love. Laugh more. You can control your moods. Create a love account and make deposits, in other words, show people that you love them. Another new hobby of mine is ….. antique stores. And not just neat, organized antique stores. I really like the ones where there’s so much crap to dig through, you can find absolute treasures for nothing. I went to 2 antique stores in Saskatchewan, and one today in Winnipeg. I bought all these old glass mason jars. I’m gonna use them for candle holders. I bought old scales and watch faces and chairs and old trunks and a bird cage and 2 lamps. This weekend, I gave everyone in the band raises. That was before the first show we played. Calgary. Then, before the show we played tonight, I called the whole crew in for a meeting, and bonused everybody. 72 people. Taylor [name tag "Taylor Swift - Fearless 2009 Tour. Taylor. Today was a wonderful day. And not because of some massive career accomplishment or award show. It wasn’t about world domination or another number 1 song. Today was just … wonderful. Today was simple. And perfect. Because today was just me and my mom, driving around, looking at antiques in little antique shops, talking about what chandelier should go in the foyer and if this cabinet would look right in the guest room. We stopped for ice cream cones. It started raining hard while we were shopping, so we had to run back to the car, getting soaking and screaming. We met up with Dad and Austin for dinner at Kabuto. But the best part of the day was just driving around with my mom. Correction: riding around with my mom with a bunch on antiques clanking together in the trunk. I just keep thinking, when I’m 90 years old, reliving the good old days, I doubt I’ll look back on the number one parties as fondly and as frequently as I’ll look back on today. Wearing red lipstick for no reason, mom in her black t-shirt and wet hair, driving around talking about which chandelier should go in the foyer. Taylor

Ahh… the things that can change in a week… Let’s just say, if you had told me that Kanye West would have been the number one focus of my week, the media, and my part in the VMA’s, I would’ve looked at you cross-eyed. If you had told me that I would win the ward I was nominated for, I wouldn’t have believed you. And if you had told me that one of the biggest stars in music was going to jump up onstage and announce that he thought I shouldn’t have won on live television, I would’ve said “That stuff doesn’t really happen in real life.” Well… apparently… it does.

Everything you need to know before BBUK returns tomorrow night
There are just over 24 hours left until Big Brother UK returns to our screens - after a nearly five-year absence.
The eye (and the ads)
Tumblr media
Despite the show's ad campaign starting off strong with an eye reveal teaser that broadcast simultaneously across the ITV network, the promo campaign has felt decidedly "ehh" ever since.
The new eye logo is... a lot? And probably just about what you'd expect an "ITV2 Big Brother eye" to look like, in that it contains hashtags, faux YouTube play buttons/Instagram icons, and pouty lips. 🤷
Mind you:
BBUK eyes never quite look "right" until you see them in the opening titles, SO THERE'S STILL HOPE
It's definitely, definitely not the worst eye ever, so there's that
The theme tune
youtube
While we're talking branding, the iconique Big Brother UK theme tune has received its first remix in... well, in a long time. "Nineteen years" is the obvious answer, since that's when the show's opening theme last got tweaked - but we don't actually know how, or where, or if this new remix will be used in the show.
We're amazed by how it sounds "stripped back" and somehow also "overly busy" at the same time???
The House
Remember how they used to do those cool "House glimpse" ads in the Channel 4 era? They were THE BEST because we used to be able to pore over every detail and do a nice write-up and post loads of pictures, but this year we've just had to put up with a handful of drone shots of the new Big Brother garden.
Until yesterday, that is, when we got our first proper press photos! But they were still of the garden. 🤔

It looks very nice! Arguably... suspiciously nice? Like, too nice for a fucking six-week run? Weird.

The new Diary Room chair also got a look-in, and it is looking -- as BIGBROTHER+ rightly points out -- very Big Brother Australia.
What's fascinating about BBAU "fans" is that they all, without exception, hate everything about BBAU with a burning passion. But as outsiders, we feel confident saying BBAU comparisons can only be a good thing.
So there.
And literally as we were putting this post together, we got a glimpse at the (unfinished) main living area of the House:
Tumblr media
It looks very large, and quite BBUSA-y! Again: this is supposedly a SIX-WEEK RUN OF BIG BROTHER, what right does it have looking anywhere near this good?
The Housemates
Obviously we don't have any details to share, yet, but we think there will be 16 of them, judging by ITV's recent Tweetstorm. Xtorm? Whatever.
Tumblr media

Including one Housemate (above, top-left corner) whomst wears coloured contact lenses, which is surely a WORLD EXCLUSIVE.
I'm wary of sounding like a broken record, but: SIXTEEN HOUSEMATES FOR A SIX-WEEK RUN???
There are probably going to be new Housemates in the middle. Let's say, two double-evictions, tops? Are there going to be thirteen Housemates in the final? ???WHAT IS HAPPENING???
When and how to watch it
BBUK kicks off tomorrow, Sunday, 8th October at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2, and ITVX. The launch show is followed at 10:30pm by new sister show Big Brother: Late & Live.
Subsequent BB episodes will air on ITV2 and ITVX, Sunday-Friday at 9pm, followed by Late & Live at 10pm.
And there's live streaming from the House every night from 11pm to 2am on ITVX - on Saturdays it's 9pm to 2am, so we get two bonus hours! Whee! 🥳
