the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
Birds are famous for communicating vocally, but many have other options, too. Some communicate by dancing, for example, or by showing off their feathers.
And according to a new study, at least one bird species does something more often associated with humans and great apes: symbolic gesturing.
A songbird called the Japanese tit (Parus minor) uses fluttering wing movements to signal "after you," the study's authors report, similar to the way humans extend one open hand to let another person go first.
i will never be over how disappointed aziraphale looks when he has a box full of plants immediately shoved in his face, and when crowley has no hesitation in offloading them all back into his car
the split second he takes in the first one to realise that crowley practically had his face pressed against the window, plants waiting at the front door, ready to get them - and himself - out of there. and all jokes of oogling his arse aside, the sudden, instant, reflexive, tight, forced smile when crowley looks at him whilst getting them inside the bentley.
i've ummed and erred over whether aziraphale knew about crowley living out of his car, but no - there is no way he didn't know. he absolutely knew. aziraphale loves trains - he could, and probably would, have taken one - but this is an excuse to get crowley into the shop and stay there. when we land on the shot of him behind the wheel, he looks so happy. not only has crowley accepted for him to drive it, a major show of trust and partnership, but almost like, following the "we both get plenty of use out of it, don't we?" line, he is so confident that he's finally secure in the knowledge that he's given crowley a home, and that home is where it's always been, where he's always belonged - with him.
my actual dream is to draw a short comic about the bit in the council of elrond where aragorn and gandalf explain at length how they captured gollum all the while legolas sweats nervously as it gets more and more difficult for him to say that gollum escaped
i've been thinking about the significance of toph's feet as the crux of her power against/alongside the practice of footbinding. considering her role situated within (an analog for) tang dynasty nobility, thinking through that cultural practice poses direct relevance regarding the overarching theme of how she transcends imposed boundaries, in terms of gender roles, class expectations, and of course along the axis of her disability. i can only gesture to these ideas because i lack the historical framework to construct a legitimate argument, but i'm wondering whether anyone more knowledgable regarding these historical contexts (@atlaculture comes to mind, but of course no pressure!) would like to extrapolate from these ideas.
imagine cuddling up with your f/o in bed during a thunderstorm… arms curled around each other, legs intertwined, head resting against chest while it rumbles and pours outside. getting to listen to the sound of their deep, calm breathing with the patter of rain against the window, seeing their features whenever the room is lit up by the flash of lightning… maybe their arms tighten around you whenever there’s a clap of thunder, maybe they make some sort of sound or they snuggle closer to you… just imagine being all warm and cozy with them during a storm, safe and comfy in their embrace <3
I've always loved the mutual nod of satisfaction Sonic and Tails give at the end of Colors, as if they're silently complimenting each other on yet another job well done
ngl, the more I think about it, the more I feel conflicted over how people sexualize my characters.
On the one hand, it would be silly to deny that I don't go out of my way to create aesthetically pleasing/attractive characters because I love to draw what I enjoy, and I love it when people simp for them.
But on the other hand, sometimes it does bother me that people are so fixated on sex and their own arousal that they miss important lore/plot information that I get a bit frustrated
the best thing about having a cat that Fully understands and typically obeys the commands "sit" and "stay" is that when she doesn't obey, you're Keenly aware that it's a conscious decision
Hopefully this isn't too weird but I love the way you draw hands, it's like the way you draw them seem just as expressive as the faces on the characters, I just love how they look and I hope I get there someday (if you have any tips please share but if not that's okay!)
I love your art and characters and how you draw their expressions/poses, it's all so nice!
Not weird at all, I'm very flattered! Hands have become extremely important to me, I tend to put a lot of effort in trying to get them look just right. I'm still not where I want to be with them but improving nonetheless. If you ask me, a thoughtfully and intently drawn hand can be almost as expressive as a character's face, just like you said. They're such complex and intricate structures with massive emotive and aesthetic potential, it'd be waste to not make use of them in art.
Older concept doodles of a mute!sonic/shadow au! Shadow crash lands into an alternate world where he meets Sonic who’s…almost like his Sonic form home, but not quite. And even though this Sonic can’t speak a word to him, he finds 10,000 other ways to express how cool he thinks Shadow is 💞
