My dad just pitched an idea for a tf2 fanfic to me and I’m fucking screaming: so the plot is that Spy goes out on a mission by himself one day. He’s chewing gum but the gum loses its flavor quickly, and without thinking, he sticks it to the bottom of a table. A police officer sees him doing it and arrests him, but agrees to let him go if he pays $50.

The other mercs hear about this and they decide to go break Spy out of jail, but they realize that the police office is heavily guarded so they can’t get him. Instead, they decide to pay the $50, but apparently these 8 grown men don’t have $50 between them so they decide to open a lemonade stand.

But then there’s a new problem, and that is that none of the mercs make good lemonade. They all take turns trying to make lemonade but it never tastes good. Finally, they get Miss Pauling to make the lemonade, and hers ends up being the best. And that’s how they get Spy out of jail I guess?

Soldier sits alone in the respawn room on a bench, his posture straight, his shoulders jutted up high, a content and confident smile on his face. So sure of himself, for a moment, that he was brave, and fearless, and there was nothing he couldn't overcome by himself. Nothing could hold him down, not the enemy, not God, not his crushing loneliness and desperation for companionship, nothing.

...

After a moment, he hunched forward and weeped into his hands, the motion too quick for the tears to catch up with him. The weeping turned into sobbing, the sobbing into screaming, the screaming into whimpering. The whimpering, into silence.

"Why is this so hard?" He sniveled, wiping his face. His emotions were far more intense in this little corner of purgatory, it was unlike him to cry over this sort of thing. As if he were a fragment of himself. "It's never usually this hard. I don't need help. I'm not weak. I can do this."

He hesitated, before hanging his head.

"It's not fair."
