호주의 대자연을 누리는 축복을 가능한 많이 누릴 것

먼저 이 글은 두 번이나 날리고 쓰는 것임을 말하고 싶다. 그것도 영어로 썼는데 망할 텀블러는 예기치못한 오류라며 나의 글을 두 번이나 날려먹었고, 나의 인내심은 바닥이 나서 더는 쓰지 않고 잠을 자려다가 그래도 주말에 보고온 자연을 생생한 소감과 함께 남기고 싶다는 일념 하나로 다시 글을 쪄보기로 하였다.

주말에 트레인을 타고 왕복 일곱시간이 걸려 다녀온 카이아마. 블로우홀 보러 갔지만 블로우홀만 있는 건 아니야. 평화로운 마을에 펼쳐진 잔디와 바닷가, 그 광경 모두가 장관이었다. 왠지 모를 우울한 기운을 가득안고 출발했던 아침과는 자르게 이 모든걸 정화시키는 힘이 있었다. 시원한 바람과 맑은 공기 그리고 여유로운 사람들까지. 시골에서 살고 싶다는 말이 계속 입에서 나왔다. 내가 왜 영미권 국가 중 미국도 영국도 캐나다도 아닌 호주를 선택했었는가, 그건 바로 자연과 날씨 때문이었다. 그만큼 자연이 주는 꾸밈없는 여유를 원했고, 수수하고 투박한 호주의 자연이 마음을 당겼다는 이야기.

바위에 앉아서 잠시 눈을 감고 호흡에 집중했다. 몇 분도 안 되는 짧은 순간이었지만 그 공기의 청량함은 아직도 기억이 나는 것만 같다.

카이아마하면 블로우홀이지, 하는 그 블로우홀. 자연이 만들어낸 광경. 이걸 보러온 사람들이 꽤 많았다.

역에서 내려서 블로우홀을 보기까지 30분 남짓 걸었는데, 그 광경 마저도 평화로웠다. 내 마음을 평화롭게 해주는 풍경. 카이아마에서 살고싶다. 그 마음은 지금도 변함이 없다. 일자리 걱정 따윈 하지 않고, 이 곳에서 평화롭게 지내면 어떤 일도 마다하지 않을 수 있을 것 같은 마음이 되었다.

제발 날라가지 않기를 바라며 업로드해본다.
