Happy 30th Anniversary to one of the most iconic, critically acclaimed and best selling albums of all time: JANET.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a lengthy bidding war between record labels due to two consecutive hit albums Janet signed to Virgin Records, The contract was worth an estimated $40M, making her the world's then-highest paid musical act(higher than Michael, Whitney & Madonna). Janet decided to write all the lyrics for the album, in addition to co-producing every song and co-writing each of their arrangements due to criticism of her being producer dependent.
Its title, read "Janet, period.", is meant to disassociate her public image from her family, dropping her surname. Lyrically, the theme of JANET. is sexual intimacy—an abrupt departure from her conservative image. Much of her lyrics emphasize a woman's perspective on sexuality and the demand for practicing safe sex. This album cemented Janet’s status as a Global Icon & an international Sex Symbol.
In the US, JANET. became the singer's 3rd consecutive album to top the Billboard 200 & her 1st to debut at #1. Selling 350,000 copies in its 1st week, it set a record for the highest 1st week sales for a female artist at that time.
The JANET. Album has sold over 20M records worldwide, becoming 6x platinum in the US within the 1st year alone. It remains 1 of the highest selling albums of all time.
JANET. became 1 of only 5 albums in the history of Billboard 200 to debut at #1 & remain at the top of the chart for a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks. JANET. remains 1 of only 7 albums in history to produce 6 top-10 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her 1st single “That’s the way love goes” hit #1 on billboard and remained for 8 consecutive weeks, becoming the longest running #1 of any Jackson family member.

lesbian fury interview with vogue
You’re married?
MH: Yes, I’ve been married for almost 10 years now and no, I’m telling anyone her name.
MH: Yes, I’ve been married for almost 10 years now and no, I’m telling anyone her name.
Do you like her wife? Without revealing any details about her, what is she like?
CD: She’s a pain in the ass. [laughs] But, I love her; she’s like a little sister to me.
MR: Maria’s wife is great. She’s a troublemaker like Carol here, so it’s chaos when they’re together. I don’t know how Maria and I put up with them.
CD: We aren’t that bad!
MH: You once pranked the entire studio with glitter and confetti. The confetti was easy to get up, but the mic was sparkly for 3 months!
In one interview, Carol said she writes songs about Maria [Rambeau] and vice versa. Which songs were written about who?
CD: Still Into You. It was a spur of the moment song. I had just been thinking of how we were nearing our 10 year anniversary and Maria never fails to give me butterflies, even now. So, I went to Maria [Hill] who helped me finish writing and producing. After she finished laughing at me.
MH: You were shaking like a chihuahua and you were so nervous. I should’ve taken a picture.
CD: It’s not funny, Hill. I hadn’t been that nervous since my wedding day.
MH: It was a great song, you should be thanking me.
MR: Anyway, The Shining, the 3rd song on our new album, was written for Carol. Maria’s wife actually helped me with it. She even helped compose parts of the song.
MH: She did? She never told me that.
Maria [Hill] have you written any songs about your wife?
MH: I’ve written a lot of songs about my wife, she’s my muse after all, but our recent song Trouble is about her.
Why did you name it Trouble?
MH: No real reason, I just happened to enjoy the title and like Maria [Rambeau] said she is a troublemaker.
Your 4th album Fury of the Gods is currently doing well on the charts? Trouble is number 2 and The Shining is number 4. How does that feel?
MR: It feels amazing. This isn’t our first album to do well, but so much goes into them that we appreciate everything our fans do to make them do that well.
Your 2nd tour starts soon, is it going to be international or only domestic?
CD: It’s going to be international. We’re going to start in Maria [Rambeau] and I’s home town of Louisiana and end in Maria’s hometown of Chicago.
What can fans expect from the tour? Any surprises or new music?
MH: Both. I have a big surprise planned at the end of the tour.
Could you elaborate?
MH: Nope.
MR: [laughing] You’re not going to get anything out of her. She’s like a vault.
Your fans have often stated that you 3 are lesbian icons and being in mainstream media has helped them be comfortable with themselves. How does it feel to know that?
MR: There weren’t many people who looked like me in the media, let alone were lesbians too. When I get letters from fans and or meet them, they always thank me for making them feel seen, and I realize I’m the role model I never had.
CD: When I grew up, there weren’t any lesbians to look up too, so I’m happy to be the person I never had.
MH: Like Carol said, she’s happy to the person she never had and so am I. I didn’t grow up with a supportive family, so if I can be one person’s support system, then I’ll be that.
russian roulette interview with vanity fair
When you hear the phrase ‘Russian Roulette’ you may think of the deadly game played with a gun; but if you’re a music fan you think of the Eastern European band. The band composed of Russian sisters Natalia ‘Natasha’ Romanoff and Yelena Belova, and Sokovian native Wanda Maximoff are signed to Avengers Inc. These 3 queer women (Natasha is a lesbian, Wanda is pansexual, and Yelena is an asexual lesbian) dropped their 3rd album Melodrama on Friday and fans are obsessed.
Band Members Wanda Maximoff and Yelena Belova are in a relationship and have been for 5 years. The couple recently got engaged. Natasha’s relationship status is unknown.
“So, Wanda, Yelena, who proposed to who?”
WM: Yelena actually proposed with an acoustic version of Everything I Wanted. This was before anyone aside from her and Natasha had heard it, so I was shocked to say the least. [laughs] I cried like a baby.
That sounds beautiful. Yelena, what was the inspiration behind the song?
YB: I had this recurring dream — it was a nightmare really — that Wanda would one day leave me. Her leaving was a thought that was always in the back of my head, especially after I came out as asexual. However, the reality was completely different. Wanda was so accepting of it and even did research to get a better understanding of what asexuality was and how to navigate our relationship. The song was an expression of how I had been feeling at the time.
Natasha, the song Cinnamon Girl is on this album. In previous interviews, you said the song would remain unreleased. What changed your mind?
NR: It felt right. I was finally ready to let it go and share it with the world.
What was the inspiration behind the song?
NR: When I wrote Cinnamon Girl, I was healing from a bad relationship that had happened 2 years prior. I had also been in a relationship for 5 months with the woman I’m currently married to. At the time, she didn't know many details of that relationship, just how it affected me, but she was so patient and loving and it was new to me. I didn't know how to express my feelings, so I wrote them in a song which she heard me playing. I opened up to her that night and a few days later, she helped me finish it.
How long have you been married?
NR: Since 2013, and that’s all I’m saying on the matter.
Natasha, Lesbian Fury singer Maria Hill recently revealed she’s married. Many fans have speculated that since you run in the same
circles, that you’re her wife. What do you have to say to that?
NR: My wife’s gonna be pissed. [laughs] However, I will say that Maria Hill would be lucky to have me as her wife.
Melodrama came out Friday and so far the top 3 favorites from fans have been Sober II, Sorry, and Love in the Dark. What are your favorites from the album?
YB: Coming Down. I rarely say this because she gets a big head about it, but Natasha is an excellent song writer and Coming Down is some of her best work. Which isn’t surprising considering she wrote it about her wife and Natalia always writes the best songs about her.
NR: That is the nicest thing you’ve said about me all week.
WM: Supercut. I just love it. And I think it’s beautiful. I’m actually the one who picked it for the album because it’s my favorite.
NR: Simple, Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince.
Can we expect a tour soon?
YB: You’ll just have to wait and see.
Your fans have talked about how you’re all so inspiring to them and how being unapologetically yourselves has helped them; what do you have to say to that?
WM: Honestly, if we can help even one person feel like themselves, then it’s worth it. I love knowing that our music and personalities help others.
YB: When I was figuring out my sexuality, Natasha was the only one who knew and even then, I was scared to tell her. She helped me come to terms with myself and if I happen to be the person that they need, then I’ll be that.
NR: Everyone needs someone and if we’re not able to reply to all the fans, or see them in person; knowing that we’re able to reach all of them is everything I’ve dreamed of.
natasha and maria’s house; location unknown
Maria walked into her and Natasha’s house exhausted. She loved her job but it could be tiring with all the press and media. It’s even worse because she can’t be seen with Nat out in public so they haven’t been able to have much time together even though they were at the same place at the same time. She left her suitcase by the door, she’d get it later. Right now, she just wants to be with her wife while she can.
”Nat, you home?” she called out into the quiet house. Natasha was supposed to be home before she was.
“Upstairs!” Natasha called back. Maria ran up the stairs, taking two at a time. She finally got to their room and saw Natasha lying on the bed watching a movie.
“Mia!” Nat exclaimed when Maria jumped on her. “I haven’t seen you in almost 2 months, you’ll be okay.” Maria mumbled against her neck. Natasha smiled softly and ran her fingers through dark locks. “I missed you too.”
“C’mon, I have a surprise for you.” Natasha said after a few minutes. Maria sat up and allowed Nat to get up. Natasha held out her hand for Maria to take and led her to the bathroom. There was a bubble bath drawn and Maria’s favorite candle was lit. “We haven’t had any us time and I thought this would be perfect.” Natasha smiled sweetly. They took their clothes off and Maria got in first and Nat said in her lap.
“I love you. And I feel like without our jobs we don’t see each other enough, so I don’t get to say it in person as much as I want to; but I love you with all my heart.” Maria whispered to Nat. Natasha blushed, a soft smile on her face. “I love you too and I’ve been thinking…I want to announce our relationship. Our 10 year anniversary is coming up and I think it’d be perfect.” Natasha was kind of nervous about Maria’s reaction. When they decided to go to their respective bands, they made the decision to not talk about their relationship for privacy reasons. Now, they don’t really care. They have such little privacy already being celebrities, the only difference is, they’d actually be able to be seen together.
“I think we should and I have the perfect idea. Maria, Carol, and I have been working on a song and we wanted a feature on it. I think you’d be perfect for it, especially because I wrote it about you. We’re going to perform it for the first time at the end of our tour, which would give us more than enough time to get everything set. What do you say?” Maria explained. She had been thinking about this for a while and couldn’t decide how to bring up the topic to Natasha and was happy she was able to do it in person.
Natasha turned a little so she was facing Maria. “I think it’s perfect. The fans aren’t gonna know what hit them.” She smiled before giving Maria a kiss.
Tonight, they would enjoy the peace and quiet they had right now as a couple cause in 2 months, that peace and quiet would be gone.

- first off, she and Eddie have known each other for years (Sylvia was 8, Eddie was 10)
- they met when Sylvia and her mother first moved to Forest Hills and Wayne and Eddie came over to welcome them
- was kind of scared of Eddie at first but after he stood up to some bullies for her, they became best friends
- Eddie was a little pissed off at her when she got to high school and decided to join the cheer team, he felt betrayed
- Sylvia is really only friends with a few, like Chrissy and then some other decently nice girls named Veronica and Jane
- ends up quitting the cheer team before senior year because of the bullying
- after quitting cheer she joins Hellfire full time, Eddie makes her a special pink Hellfire shirt
- Sylvia super girly with a quirky twist
- her fashion icons are Molly Ringwald and Mia Sara
- her favorite book is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
- she was named after the author, her mother is a very eccentric feminist that Sylvia adores
- best subject is English (duh)
- has a walkman that Eddie got for her for her 18th birthday
- Sylvia’s birthday is July 2, 1967
- Sylvia’s favorite album is Bella Donna by Stevie Nicks
- Other than Stevie Nicks, she likes Blondie, Fleetwood Mac (duh), Kate Bush, The Beach Boys, Journey, and The Beatles
- Eddie got her into some more hardcore bands like Black Sabbath, Dio, and Metallica
- her favorite movies are The Outsiders, Footloose, and Sixteen Candles (…guys I almost put Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and then stupid me remembered Shannen Doherty is literally in that movie…)
- sits with Hellfire everyday, lost her seat privileges one time because she dissed Lord of the Rings
- Sylvia and Gareth are lowkey besties, they have a sibling friendship type of thing
- Because of her friendship with Dustin and Mike through Eddie she becomes decent friends with Robin, Nancy, and Steve
- Ok to canon timeline
- Chrissy goes to get the drugs because she asks Sylvia, they are still friends despite Sylvia not being on the team anymore
- Sylvia somewhat knows what’s going on with Chrissy’s mom and then the ED, but is too scared to say anything (much like Lucas with Patrick)
- of course we all know what happens to Chrissy :(
- Eddie and Sylvia both get blamed for the murders, Jason makes up some batshit idea they sacrificed Chrissy together
- they have to hide together :( poor baby is still in her cheer uniform too
- Sylvia feels MEGA guilt for Chrissy, especially for running away and not saying anything to help her
- while in hiding they end up confessing their feelings
- Y’all saw that coming don’t even lie
- they have sex for the first time in the boathouse, it’s sweet even if it sounds rlly gross
- when they get stuck in the Upside Down it’s really scary
- and when they have to go fight Vecna? Horrifying.
- in this universe Eddie lives because I do what I want!!! And Hopper comes back and clears both of their names :)) and Jason is dead!!!
- Sylvia goes to Chrissy’s mother after the ordeal, screams at her for being a horrible mother
- I’m sad now back to happiness
- Scared to perm her hair but a few times a week she wears curls her hair all big with an iron and wears curlers to bed so she gets the big curls
- Eddie has multiple polaroids of her with them, she thinks she looks stupid but he thinks they’re adorable
- Wayne adores Sylvia, and Sylvia’s mother Laura adores Eddie
- they celebrate holidays together!!
- for their anniversary Eddie get’s her a ring that match’s his :)))
- That’s all I just love them sm

Iconic musician Bob Dylan has re-recorded a number of his classic songs to highlight T Bone Burnett's new analog format, that he has dubbed Ionic Originals. According to Burnett, an Ionic Original is a one-of-a-kind disc that apparently surpasses the sonic fidelity of existing formats like vinyl, CD, or streaming. According to a statement from the producer, Ionic Originals are "lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a spiral etched into it by music." "An Ionic Original is the pinnacle of recorded sound. It is archival quality. It is future proof. It is one of one. Not only is an Ionic Original the equivalent of a painting, it is a painting. It is lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a spiral etched into it by music. This painting, however, has the additional quality of containing that music, which can be heard by putting a stylus into the spiral and spinning it," Burnett's statement about Ionic Originals reads.
New wave icons The B-52's have announced the schedule for their farewell tour.
The 15-date tour, which is set to begin with a concert in Seattle on August 22, will conclude on November 11 with a show in Atlanta. The B-52's will have The Tubes and KC & The Sunshine Band supporting them on select dates during the trek. "Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world," the B-52's cofounder Kate Pierson said. "It's been cosmic." "No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it's time for one last blowout with our friends and family … our fans," cofounder Fred Schneider added. "And with KC and the Sunshine Band and the Tubes on board, it's going to be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts." The band's last album was Funplex, which arrived in 2008, 16 years after its predecessor, 1992's Good Stuff.
The Rolling Stones recently shared a video of a performance of their 2002 single, "Don't Stop," on their official YouTube channel. The video is the latest preview of the legendary rock band's upcoming multi-format live collection titled Licked Live In NYC. An expanded and remastered reissue of their 2003 concert film with the same title, Licked Live In NYC is scheduled to release on June 10. The Rolling Stones played the song during the group's 40th anniversary Licks tour in January 2003 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The 2022 edition includes four previously unreleased songs from NYC - "Start Me Up," "Tumbling Dice," "Gimme Shelter," and "Sympathy For The Devil."

ELECTRA HEART BY MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS RELEASED APRIL 27, 2012
Post ‘Electra Heart,’ I felt kind of ashamed, like this isn’t really who I am. Now I think it was a really cool, dark, subversive pop record that was using the American system to elevate myself as an artist. I wouldn’t do it again, but it kind of changed my life. - Marina for the New York Times

IT'S BEEN A WHILE STARLIGHT 🌟 - VIXX Vlive 220408
Tumblr media
별빛 (byeolbit) - friends, I could not believe my eyes when I read the video title during a break at work yesterday... and I MISSED the live session by 15 minutes! T-T let me order my thoughts on this 5vixx reunion a bit:
1st it felt so surreal listening to Hyuk and Ken greeting us... and suddenly I realized by counting each member, that there actually were 5 of them in ONE FRAME 🙈😭
Thanks to stylists unnies for dressing them in such stunning black / dark blue outfits ^3^ the glitter makes them look like they came from another star💎 (pun intended) - they still are my fashion icons in this kpop scene... and army hyungs all became so buff😎
It has already been 3+ years since their last vlive as a full group (I truly miss our Beanie🌱, but I am happy with the way he gets to do what he likes now🎮) after their fanmeet and release of the song 'Walking' back in January 2019-Hearing their greeting and and smiling together again was more than enough for me
VIXX being chaotic as always: N is getting ignored and teased by the members, Taekwoon getting cheeky with the members, Jaehwanie as the cutie sunshine, Ravi laughing at everything the others are talking about and Hyuk carefully being the giant cameraman for the vlive ♡
And I am overwhelmed by the big VIXX SHRINE that Jelpi stuff has been preparing in the background!🤯🥳🥰 The starlight bongs version 1&2 + the fan scarf, all the physical albums on the shelf, the song covers at the wall in the middle and (last but not least) the trophies they have earned it the last 10 years.... simply speechless and very proud of their effort
I hope some starlights are able to translate the whole vlive, thanks to them I was able to learn some words, but as a beginner its still hard to keep up with the whole conversation🤔
Hoping they have pre-filmed or recorded something for the anniversary (they wouldn't just gather for a 15 min vlive, wouldn't they?🤣). Lets stay strong VIXX and starlights!!!

🔻 Sun 11 Oct ‘20 🔺
Happy Sunday! Today is the anniversary of the announcement of Just Like You (dropped that night at midnight) and of the first Fine Line single, Lights Up, both of which are thought to be linked by both date and lyrical content to National Coming Out day, an originally American effort (thus the 'national') that has spread to be recognized internationally.
The JLY anniversary (3 years) was marked by fans pushing it up the itunes charts! “You guys are unbelievable,” tweeted Louis as for the second time in as many weeks an old release of his entered and topped the charts in multiple countries with no impetus other than fan efforts. Earlier in the day he had followed some sports collectibles accounts (and even followed the VP of marketing for one of those businesses on a whole other platform) and he let us know that he hopes we're all doing all right but that more importantly he was excited about the England game (the national football team going against Belgium), and made a prediction for the match (England to win natcherly but to give him his due they did do that, though his predicted scorer did not come through.) Paul Arthurs from Oasis managed to convey a world of weary dismay in a single digit, replying to Louis' tweet about being three when the iconic first Oasis album came out with a simple “3” (not for the 3rd anniv of JLY sadly.)
HSHQ is marking the one year since Lights Up opened the Fine Line era with a limited box set version of Fine Line and a rainbow lettering TPWK hoodie. The fancy box is matte black and includes 10 Tim Walker prints, a 'lyric zine', and white gloves (which are all very tempting but I'd say the attempt to make the black vinyl sound like a special perk didn't land QUITE as effectively.) HSHQ posted a shaky fancam of Harry yeling “Tina, she's gay!” on tiktok, Molly Hawkins mused about Do You Know Who You Are a year on-- “a good question for a weird year,” and in the Do You Know Who You Were section we got a glimpse of baby Harry courtesy of a childhood friend who posted footage of their yearbook. We see where he won the first of many Best Dressed awards (though someone else was voted most likely to win the X Factor but to be fair Harry DIDN'T win so they may have been on to something), and the pictures are just as adorable as you'd expect, but I wonder if he would still stand by the part in his quote where he says “I don't do walls”...
In non anniversary news, we got to see more of the 'Liam as a screaming gladiator on the attack' manip being used for the LP Show 3 promo courtesy of the artist, and Liam's depop and ebay sales (of his used clothes and jewelry and signed Hugo shirts) are ticking along and raising lots of money for Trussel Trust (all proceeds from sales are to be donated to the food bank.) Niall watched golf on TV at home with Amelia.

Happy 10 Year Anniversary to “Born To Die”
by Lana Del Rey.
The iconic & controversial album includes hits such as Summertime Sadness, Blue Jeans and Video Games. It sold over 7 million copies worldwide and spent more than 400 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. Lana’s lyrics, musical sound and videos were heavily criticized by the media and polarized critics. Yet it changed pop music starting a “Sad girl trend.” Her songs were stories about love, drugs, heartache and longing rather than generic pop hits. It introduced a new sound which was heavily influenced by the 1950’s & 1960’s. Influencing artists like Lorde, Billie Eillish, Tove Lo, Miley Cyrus and more.

DID YOU LIKE MY COUNTDOWN!? That was fun! I had fun. That was actually more fun than I thought it would be! There were too many good posts to name. It was very fun reading all your comments and theories.  Though side note: animal anon has no problem with people joining her BUT it must be animals and it must not mess with my countdown. No statues! Animal anon does animals, not statues. Side side note: can someone settle the debate of if that emoji is a hedgehog or a porcupine? Because I have no idea. Side note side note side note: sorry if you got multiple asks in a day...my system isn't perfected yet so sometimes I send two (or three) because I forgot I sent one and didn't want to accidently miss anyone (also sorry if i did miss you, still perfecting the system, no one has been animal anon blacklisted, i promise!)
Anyway, GUESS WHAT TODAY IS!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 It's been one year since I started animal anon! How exciting is that?! Phew, what a year we've had together! I mean what better way to start this second year than some chaos since that's how animal anon started to begin with! I will admit, it was slightly stressful coming up with something to meet the occasion of this event. I hope the countdown and this post live up to it. No, I'm not going to reveal myself just yet.. maybe that will be for year 2...😏😏. BUT I will give you some fun facts about me! So let's see; first, I'm from the Midwest (so not Canadian, but close so I do have a slight accent), but I currently live in the TriState area. Second, I am a MASSIVE theater nerd. No, seriously I have been to 21 shows since Broadway reopened in September and I'm actually going to my 22nd tonight. I don't know if this makes that fact better or worse, but I've really only been to about 12 different show because out of those 22, 10 of those are one specific show. Third, I am fluent in German and English. Though, I suck at writing in German, I never learned how to, so don't ask me to do that please. Fourth, my favorite color is red, so you can guess my favorite Taylor album (and coincidently also the show I've been to see 10 times on Broadway...). Fifth, I love to talk A LOT if you couldn't tell by the essays I send yall. And lastly, I can also confirm I am not Taylor...but I will say that I do share something very important with her... tell me your guesses down below as to what very important thing you think Taylor and I have in common, and I'll send some extra animals to whomever I see gets it right first!
So contuining on with my dissertation here, this week I have been trying to figure out a prompt to live up to this occasion. As I already mentioned, my system isn't perfect! And I've been thinking a lot about community lately and how that's been lacking for so many because of Covid. So what I want yall to do is if you get this dissertation of mine, please send a message, post, anon, whatever you want to at least 1 other blog (though you can do more), telling them something you like about them and giving them an animal emoji! That way we can keep spreading the love all day long to as many as possible! 🥰
As always, you are all brilliant, kind, worthy, beautiful and as this past week has shown, hilarious and unique human beings. No seriously, some of your posts had me kneeling over in laughter. If you would so like, you can tag #animalanon so I and everyone can read all your lovely posts! IM STARTING EARLY TODAY SO WE CAN PARTY ALL DAY LONG BECAUSE I LOVE YALL SO MUCH 🎊 🦥🦁🐯
Tumblr media
Omg happy anniversary animal anon!!! 🎉 We all love you so much <3333 The chaos was 10/10 thank you for the entertainment you’re an icon!!
It’s so nice to hear more about you!! I am also from the Midwest not too far from Canada! Maybe I know you 👀 I ALSO love theatre but wouldn’t consider myself an expert by any means but you sound like you’re living the dream 🤩 and I also also love Red! I go back and forth on if it’s my favorite or rep (tho Red TV I think pushed it to #1 ❤️) So we have a lot in common!!
I’m going to guess what you have in common with Taylor issss… you have 3 cats?? 🐱
I love your idea for spreading the love! Bringing the light to the fandom, as always! I hope you have a wonderful anniversary!!! 🐳🦚🐇🦒🐘🐬🦉🦄🐝🦕🐙

DORO: 'Triumph And Agony Live' Artwork And Track Listing Revealed
In celebration of 35 years of WARLOCK's "Triumph And Agony" album, Doro Pesch will release "Triumph And Agony Live" in various formats, including CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD, Blu-ray, and a huge box set, on September 24 through Doro's own label, Rare Diamonds Productions.
The "Triumph And Agony" artwork centers on Geoffrey Gillespie's famous original drawing of the "Warlock" embracing the blonde rock star.
Doro says: "The cover and the whole artwork including booklet and inlay are a combination of live shots and the amazing iconic Warlock paintings of my favorite artist, Geoffrey Gillespie, who did all the classic DORO / WARLOCK artworks. It worked out great. I am so happy with it."
Regarding "Triumph And Agony Live", Doro says: "It's one of my favorite records we've ever done! It includes some of our big classic anthems like 'All We Are', 'Für Immer' and 'I Rule The Ruins' as well as fan favorites like 'Metal Tango', 'Three Minute Warning', 'Kiss Of Death' and 'East Meets West', not to forget headbanging album opener 'Touch Of Evil'. I'm super excited to let the fans hear and see it!
"It was always my dream to play the 'Triumph And Agony' album in its entirety live," she adds. "The order of the tracks is different from the original album, but we're playing all ten songs in new, powerful versions. The first time we did it was at Sweden Rock followed by a big tour in the USA and Spain, and more large festival shows like Graspop and Norway Rock. It was fantastic. There was a killer atmosphere!"
"Triumph And Agony Live" track listing:

Prior to an appearance at the 2017 Sweden Rock Festival, Doro stated about why that was the right time to go out and play the "Triumph And Agony" songs again: "Well, because we have our 30th anniversary of this big record. It was called 'Triumph And Agony', and it was the biggest record. I think it was one of the best records. And I thought, 'Man, we have to play one time the whole album in its entirety,' and we never did before. And then I called my old guitar player, Tommy Bolan, and he played on the whole record, he played all the solos. And I asked him if he was into that idea, doing a couple of shows with just the 'Triumph And Agony' album and then some encores. And he said, 'Oh, let's do it. I'm ready.' And then we were rehearsing all, yeah, the last week, and I think it sounds really good. We are playing some songs we've never played before, but I think they will sound really amazing. And I'm very excited."
In a 2000 interview with Metal Rules, Doro stated about WARLOCK: "I loved that so much and my heart and soul was so much into it. I was totally devastated when it broke up and it broke up not because of the band but because of all the bullshit around it. It was the record companies, the management, everything. The band had no control anymore — everybody else had, and the band did not. It was really tough and there were a lot of problems and I was totally heartbroken about it. But those times were awesome, man, it was awesome! I will always treasure them. I love to think about the great times."
Doro told Get Ready To Rock! that "everything fell into place" for WARLOCK after "Triumph And Agony" was released. "The record company was totally behind it, MTV put our song 'All We Are' on heavy rotation, which was a big plus, I must say, the fans were there and metal was at its peak between 1987 and 1988. Sometimes you do wish for everything to fall into place, but it's very rare that this happens as things need to work like a watch."
Doro is currently working on material for a new studio album, tentatively due in 2022. The LP will be the follow-up to "Forever Warriors, Forever United", which came out in 2018. The double album featured 19 regular tracks and six bonus songs.

Favourite IU Lyrics
To celebrate iu’s 12th anniversary and give her the appreciation she deserves, here are 10 of my favourite lyrics that iu has written (in no particular order):
Note: iu has so many writing credits and so many songs that are strong as a whole that I don’t think I could ever choose my favourite lines from all of them or ever actually make an ordered list of favourite to least favourite. Also keep in mind that these lyrics and songs are open to interpretation so how I describe them may be different to what you think. I’m just doing this for fun so please don’t get mad at me if I don’t include your faves, and hey maybe I’ll make a part 2 someday
1. Bad Day
“I feel someone’s body heat on the empty playground bench
Why is this warmth making me feel even colder?
I bury my face in my scrunched up shoulders
My hands that I hid in my pockets get cold”
Bad day is such a special song to me. It was with this song that I realised there was something special about iu’s writing. I just love the whole metaphor of a cold room being used to describe a bad day. She took a relatable concept and was able to create an extended metaphor out of it that somehow describes the feeling so well, a feeling that some may struggle to put into words. I have mental illnesses and we know that iu has struggled with mental illness too, so this just feels like a very personal song and that just makes it better. You know that she felt these things and poured her heart into this song.
2. Ending Scene
“As much as you were lonely
I really hope you meet someone
Who will love you more than you
I’m sorry that it wasn’t me
It’s not easy to give
Don’t say those words, please
You know those words hurt even more”
I’m usually not big into love or break up songs, but something about this just feels so unique and heartbreaking. It’s not a bitter break up where they hurt each other, the other person is wishing her the best and admitting that they’re not right for each other, but that just makes it worse because they are clearly a good person who cares for her. It’s just so well written and a new perspective and that’s something I really appreciate about iu.
3. Can’t Love You Anymore
“Where are you?
Where are you?
I’m home
I’m in a cab
Are you almost home?
Oh, I’m sorry
For what?
Just, everything
Go home
I left my wallet there
Oh, hey
Never mind
No, what is it?
I don’t think
we’re in love anymore”
How could I not include the iconic back and forth with iu and oh hyuk? This again feels like a unique break up song in that it’s so chill. There’s no big reason for it, they just simply fell out of love and are now unable to be like they were before and are just tired of being together. I think this part shows that so well because not only are the lyrics great but the delivery of them as well. It just sounds great and is fun to sing along to (or at least try to sing long).
4. Eight
“So are you happy now?
Finally happy now are you?
I’m the same
I think I’ve lost it all
Everything comes on it’s own and leaves without a goodbye
At this rate, I don’t want to love anything”
Eight aka song of the year starts off strong and stays that way throughout (thanks partly to yoongi of course). IU has lost two close friends these past couple years, and from the mv it seems clear that the song is talking about her memories with them, as well as being another song that focuses on her age and how she’s growing up. For those reasons these lyrics just really hit hard. IU is such a strong woman and I hope that she is able to create more truly happy memories.
5. Red Queen
“Children obviously but adults too
Even the things that don’t have life
Everything fell in love, fell in love with her
Her heart was that beautiful too
Even when she gazed
At the tiniest, poorest of things
Those passionless, depressing eyes
Used to sparkle so bright"
This is another song with a connection to sulli. IU said that she was inspired to write the song because of a drawing sulli did, and the lyrics seem like they are telling her story of going from being loved to hated by the public, especially as after she passed away iu changed the lyrics at her concert to pay tribute to her. This obviously makes the song more touching now, but there’s even more to appreciate. I really love the structure of the lyrics, how it’s like she’s telling a fun silly story but underneath it’s actually very dark. This is helped even more by the instrumental and vocals, which shouldn’t be surprising because we all know iu is a musical genius. Red queen is easily one of her best songs.
6. Blueming
“I’lltextyouwithoutanyspacesIthinkthisislove
A hundred roses, wanna make them bloom with me?
Let’s color the flowers however we want
So it’s beautiful even when it withers”
It was really really really hard to choose my favourite lyrics because there is so much going on in this song, every single line has something to appreciate. I love when art can take something simple and make it poetic, and that’s what iu does well. The song as a whole is about texting your crush, and she describes this as creating flowers in their chat room, blooming flowers together as their relationship also blooms. It’s simple yet effective. Again I’m not big into love songs but I can appreciate poetry when I see it and damn do I see it. And can we just take a moment to appreciate how cool that texting without spaces line is? In the mv they type out the hangul without any spaces just so we can see that she really did that, wow.
7. Greedyy
“Girls be ambitious, own more, whatever it may be
There are so many things that are such a waste to give to others
Everyone tells you the same line as if promised, be good
If you don’t wanna you don’t have to, don’t have to”
Now we love a good bit of female empowerment. This song is actually by jea and moonbyul, but iu wrote the lyrics (moonbyul wrote her own I think). I think it says a lot that iu wrote a song for another female singer and she decided to make it about ambition and taking what you want. It honestly gives me cindy from the producers vibes. This song is very underappreciated so please check it out!
8. Through The Night
“Just like letters on the sand
Where waves were
I feel you’ll disappear
To a far off place
I miss you again and miss you more”
Through the night actually had to take some time to grow on me, but now it is one of my favourite iu songs ever. I don’t know why but this song often makes me cry, it’s just so full of love and admiration for whoever it’s about and iu’s vocals help put so much emotion into it. I think I cry because I make up scenarios in my head that make it more personal and hurt more, and I think you can do that with a lot of iu’s songs which really helps the listeners experience. I think with the palette album iu really hit something with her writing, it’s so full of emotion and poetic techniques. I’m so happy palette won album of the year and this song won song of the year because they both really deserve it.
9. BBIBBI
“Yellow C A R D
If you cross this line, it’s a violation, beep
Keeping manners stop here, it’s ma ma ma mine
Please keep the la la la line
Hello stuP I D
If you cross that line, I’ll get serious, beep
Stop it, keep the distance
Cause we don’t know know know know
Comma we don’t owe owe owe owe (anything)”
An iconic song. Bbibbi is a song telling the public to stop giving hate to celebrities and to stop invading their privacy, but in true iu fashion she keeps it upbeat and strangely polite. This got iu a lot of attention and I think that proves how good she is at writing. She did something new and empowering while still keeping in line with her image, and people really responded to this. This was another song where it was very hard for me to choose the lyrics. I went with the chorus but I also really love the pre chorus where she is repeating negative comments she receives, I just think that’s really cool.
10. Leon
“My heart used to be quietly asleep
But why did you throw a stone,
making me wanna dance?
Please hide my shaking eyes,
my black sunglasses”
Now maybe it’s just because films are my biggest passion in the world, but I really love this song. This part is sung by park myung-soo (iu still wrote all the lyrics) and is meant to be from leon’s perspective. I really like how iu took full advantage of this song being a boy girl duet because it allowed her to write from both perspectives and have fun with it. Something about it actually reminds me of red queen and I just really enjoy the vibe. I’ve noticed that korean people seem to really like leon the professional and I find that interesting, especially as it’s about the relationship between a 12 year old girl and a grown professional assassin man, but that’s a conversation for another day. As it is, this is a great song that was very successful in korea, and queen iu deserves all the success and praise.
If you somehow read all this, thank you so much and please stream eight!

HAPPY THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO REPUTATION!! 🐍🖤💚🤩 Wow, can anyone actually believe that we have had this masterpiece in our lives for three years?! This album is truly amazing and one of my all time favorites. Not only is the music special, but the whole reputation era was honestly the most ICONIC. I remember when the album came out and listening to the songs at midnight and thinking that this is going to be a dark album, and it turned out to be the brightest moments. I haven’t seen Taylor live since Fearless in 2009 (bc I’m the worst) and made sure to get reputation tickets for East Rutherford. I was so grateful I saw the tour not only once but twice. By August 2018, I decided to hop on board with my friends to see the tour AGAIN in New Orleans and that whole weekend still brings a smile to my face when I think about it. We were next to stage B and I got to touch Taylor’s hand when she walked through the barricade. Truly magical and I was on a high from that show and trip for a LONG time. So many amazing memories from the reputation era that I will always hold dear. Also, reputation merch will always be SUPERIOR. Omg I can go on about reputation can’t I?!
PS this rep pullover is probably my favorite merch item EVER.
Happy 3 years of this iconic album, @taylorswift!!!

Jade Thirlwall on how Little Mix’s new era is all about having fun
Has there ever been a time when we’ve needed a glorious new Little Mix single more than right now? Probably not.
The UK’s biggest girl group are back for their sixth era and have brought with them an 80s-tinged pop anthem that’ll swoop you out of your isolation blues.
Written by Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock with Kamille, Frank Nobel and Linus Nordstrom, Break Up Song is a whopper of a return, pairing love-lorn lyrics with sky-soaring synths.
While working from home this week, we caught up with Jade over the phone to speak about Little Mix’s highly-anticipated new album, Leigh-Anne’s iconic new mullet, how they have protected the well-being of contestants on their upcoming BBC One talent show and, of course, which queens she’s enjoying on the latest season of Drag Race.
Tumblr media
Hi Jade! How are you coping in isolation? Not too bad. I haven’t got cabin fever just yet.
I follow you on Instagram and saw that you’ve already completed a Disney castle Lego set… Oh yeah, what a dream!
That’s one way to keep yourself occupied. Have you got any more Lego sets left? No but I’ve ordered more! I’ve got jigsaws and board games and stuff like that, so as it stands I’m quite highly entertained to be honest.
I love how you’re going old school with it. None of this House Party app stuff. [Laughs] Well I am a bit of a Nana!
Well a new Little Mix single is exactly what we all need right now. Yes, 100%. I love that it’s a very uplifting, happy, cheery pop song. That’s what Little Mix are best at I think. I’m really excited for this new era.
Break Up Song is a brilliant return, so why did you decide on that track to kick-start the LM6 era? There was actually a different song that was the front-runner for the first single, and Break Up Song pretty much swooped in at the last minute. The video was ready and everything for this other song. We wrote Break Up Song over a year ago and we listened to it again in the playback session and we were like, ‘wait a minute – this should be the first single.’ So we called the label and was like, ‘This has to be it now.’ We got that jittery feeling that we had with Shout Out To My Ex and Black Magic where it just felt special.
It’s definitely one of those songs that you find yourself getting lost in – it kind of encapsulates you. Yeah, I love that. I agree. It’s one of those songs that you want to listen to again right after. I just had a really good feeling about it, so hopefully everyone else feels the same.
How did the 80s vibe come about? When we’re writing, we work really well when we’re given a definite brief. Whether it’s an era of music or a very strong concept, that’s when we write the best music. We were playing around in the studio with Kamille, Frank Nobel and Linus Nordstrom with the synths, and it just sort of happened. This was well before artists right now started coming out with more of the 80s vibe. I know The Weeknd brought out an 80s vibe song, and so has Dua Lipa. It was before that happened so it’s quite a coincidence. I guess it’s a good thing now that that’s where Top 10 is at at the minute.
Can we talk about Leigh-Anne’s mullet for a second please. What a serve. Honestly, it’s iconic isn’t it? Nobody else could’ve pulled that mullet off!
As soon as you see it you’re like, ‘I never knew I needed this in my life’. How did you all decide on which classic 80s look you’d get? Well hun, I’ve got a bloody mountain of hair on my head so I could never have squashed that mullet on! So I worked with what I’ve got and went for the side sweep and kept all me long hair out. Then obviously the video shoot as well – which is a shame it ended up getting cancelled because of everything that is going on at the minute – but we wanted to go the whole 80s hog and do the full shebang. We came up with the treatment and everything and it was really exciting, but we’re still going to do something really cool for the video. We just like going all-out, don’t we? If you’re going to do something, you’d better commit to it.
For you personally, what’s your favourite thing about 80s pop culture? I just love how full-on it was. I’m all or nothing, me. I’m either very androgynous – which really suits the 80s era with that Bowie vibe – or like drag queen vibes. I loved that in the 80s all the lads were rocking make-up and hair like it was nothing. It’s a shame it sort of died down. I loved a bit of Bananarama. I loved Diana Ross when she was going out of that sort of dancey era. Obviously I wasn’t alive in the 80s, but I have memories of sitting with my dad watching VH1 Classics where I’d see it all.
So you’ve been busy at work on the sixth album – what can you tell us about that? With this era we haven’t over-thought it. We’ve just gone with what feels good and not worried as much about what’s cool or what people will want to hear. It’s very much been, ‘OK, this is an amazing song – it’s going on the album.’ That has lifted a weight off our shoulders really. It was quite a stressful process for LM5 and the change of labels and everything. For this, we were very much left to have fun and get back to what we really love about being Little Mix.
The best music is always made when an artist is having fun with it and there’s an authenticity to it. Yeah, 100% – and that’s not to say we didn’t love LM5 because we wrote so much of that album and we put so much into it. That whole era was very much about what we stood for; female empowerment, women’s rights and it was very topical in that moment. It’s something we are very passionate about. We really did get that message across. But we’ve done that now, so now it’s time to let our hair down a bit and have some fun.
You’ve always pushed the Little Mix sound throughout your career, but have managed to retain a sense of identity with it as well. Whatever direction you go in, you always know it’s a Little Mix song. What do you think, at this point, is the key ingredient for a Little Mix song? Whatever sounds popular at that minute, we’ll also be like, ‘OK, let’s jump on it and do it, but make it Little Mix’ instead of just cloning what everyone else is doing. We’re a girl band so immediately it’s different for us. I wouldn’t say it’s harder, but we always have to make sure that we don’t sound too cheesy because we are a pop girl group and people automatically have this weird sort of opinion about pop groups in general. So it’s about constantly proving ourselves and it’s why we can adapt with the times. We’ve been together for nearly nine years now, so the proof is in the pudding that we’re managing to adapt and change with every era, while still remaining Little Mix-y. We’ve also maintained the fans who have been with us from the beginning, while keeping the younger audience as well. It’s about being authentic and sticking to our guns in who we are and what we want to do. It’s been a very gradual process. When we were 18, we very much looked 18! But with each year we’ve grown as women.
And now you’re searching for a new band! Little Mix: The Search is coming soon. Talk about coming full circle from being put together on a talent show to creating your own new group all these years later. How have you found being on the other side of that process? It’s so bizarre – it’s very strange. Obviously we’ve been in their position and we know how that feels to be standing in front of judges and singing for them. So I feel like we really relate to the contestants more and really empathise with them and make sure the process is as fun as it can possibly be for them. It’s been really difficult to say ‘no’ to people, because we’ve had those knock-backs before. It can be really crushing. It has been emotionally draining having to let people go. It’s hard telling people that they’re not quite there yet. But on the other side, we have found some insanely talented people and it’s just so exciting. Every single group that we’ve formed are special in their own way.
As you say, you’ve been through a process like this yourself, so did you all make sure you put in protections for the contestants from the off? We’ve very much been involved through the whole process. A massive chunk of the budget for the show has gone on after care and mental health. There’s going to be counsellors there constantly looking after the contestants in the house. Even if someone doesn’t get through we have an after care process where the researchers call them up each week to check in on how they are. There’s been a lot of focus on making sure they are looked after, which I think we could have very much done with back in the day! It was really very important to us to make sure that was put in place.
You said earlier that you’re heading into your ninth year as a group, which means that 10th anniversary is on the horizon. Have you started to think about how you’d like to celebrate that because it’s a huge milestone? Honestly I can’t believe it. Especially with the other girls because they’ve all got partners and they’re settled down and grown up, and I’m just sitting here thinking, ‘Bloody hell, when did this all happen?’ Obviously we’ll be putting on a big tour and we’ll have the new album. I don’t know exactly what we’ll be doing next year – especially with everything going on. Things are being pushed back. We just take each day as it comes to be honest. I’m still having an absolute ball.
Whatever it is it’ll be something celebratory because 10 years is a massive achievement. Oh absolutely – and you know me, I’ll be at every bloody Pride going next year! Especially now they’ve been cancelled this year. It’s all very upsetting, but hopefully we can perform at some big Prides next year.
Obviously I need to talk to you about Drag Race. You’ve been watching the new season so do you have any early favourites? Yeah! Who am I liking at the minute? Who’s the really model-y one? Is it Gigi?
Yes, Gigi Goode! We love her. She is really serving the looks. I do love a Look Queen. But to me, as it stands, there’s not any proper front-runners yet.
It feels like a very strong season from the off. Yeah exactly, which is amazing. Even last week when Rock M. Sakura got sent home, I was like, ‘Wow I didn’t expect that.’ I didn’t expect the first queen to go home either. It’s very entertaining and it’ll keep us all entertained while we’re indoors. Very much here for it. Who’s your favourite?
I really like Gigi too, and I actually really like Heidi N Closet. She’s really funny. Yes she is funny! I like the French one as well, Nicky Doll. I think she’s a bit of a dark horse.
When you were a guest judge on Drag Race UK last year was it everything you expected it to be? When I tell you that that was one of the best days of my life… I was in my absolute element. It was just heaven on Earth. I was proper fan-girling. I was trying my best to act really cool and be the glamorous pop star who didn’t care, but inside I was screaming! It was just perfect. It was amazing being on set and seeing how it all works. Seeing them lip sync to one of our songs was incredible! I made a few friends off the back of it as well. I still speak with The Vivienne quite a lot. I’d love to do it again.
Did you feel the pressure when they did the runway to come up with funny quips about their looks? When we were on set they actually said for the UK one that RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Graham Norton very much believe in it, so I told myself, ‘Oh here hun, shut your hole’. The last thing I want to do is try to crack a joke that doesn’t get a laugh, do you know what I mean? So I thought I’d just shut up for that bit! But I feel like I served some good lines during the critiques and stuff, so I was happy with that.
As a fan of the show for many years, did appearing as a guest judge change your perception of it in any way? If anything it made me love it even more. I was especially happy that my first appearance on it was for the UK one. If I’m totally honest, before I turned up I was thinking ‘I dunno how they’re going to make the UK one not feel less…’ But actually when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. After watching it as well, I feel like the UK was the best one for me. I loved the British humour and how they didn’t Americanise it too much. I loved seeing all the behind-the-scenes of the show. The studio is absolutely freezing so that none of the queens’ make-up melted! I was sitting with a hot water bottle on my lap under the desk.
The British queens really pulled through and I’m now really excited for the second season of the UK version. Absolutely, and now everyone has seen how amazing it is, even more queens are going to want to do it.
Little Mix’s new single Break Up Song is available to stream now.
