Someone was asking me did I think Sirius was cunning or had lots of Slytherin traits.

I don’t think so at all.

The Slytherin traits are essentially:

Cunning - this is not the same as intelligence or cleverness. Canny, crafty, weighing up the possibility and deciding based on what’s going to be in your best interests. Someone who is cunning has the ability to achieve things in a clever way, often by deceiving other people. When was Sirius like this? I’ll tell you who is cunning and shrewd, it’s Albus Dumbledore.

Ambition where in canon was Sirius ambitious? If he was he’d have pretended he was a good, obedient son and not run away and gotten blasted off the family tree. He might have stayed on and lied to them all, then if he was also cunning he might have brought Voldy down from the inside. Sirius like this? Nope!

Resourcefulness he’s pretty resourceful fair enough

Pride where in canon is he proud? Pride is a feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people; Pride can also have a negative meaning and refer to exceedingly high self-regard. Sirius is shown as racked with guilt about making Peter secret keeper, doesn’t believe Harry will want to live with him when he offers, didn’t try to leave Azkaban for 12 years because he believed he deserved to be punished for being responsible for the Potters’ deaths. He’s kind and thoughtful to Harry and his friends and to animals. He can be cutting towards others that he dislikes but that’s not pride. He’s rude to Kreacher but it’s not because he thinks he’s superior to house elves but because Kreacher hated Sirius and adored his mother and brother.

Courage - courage is taking action in spite of the fear you feel. Standing up to his family, fighting against Voldemort in the first Wix war despite being outnumbered 20:1, fighting in the second Wix war to try to protect and save Harry etc etc

Bad just becoming extremely more attached to foolish. He’s mourning, he hasn’t really quiet liked to think about the the fact he will out live his loved ones, and now his sun is missing and probably dead. He doesn’t love foolish and he knows like him his heart is yearning for the return of another. In fact he’s go as far as to say foolish just tolerates him more then most. And if bads being honest that’s more then he can ask of anyone. Foolish is a constant in bads life similar to his skeppy, so even if foolish won’t ever love him and he knows he just really likes him. Bad will hold on to that familiarity like a life line he can be useful to foolish. He can be useful. He will be useful as long as foolish continues to tolerate him. Slowly his heart will heal and his need to hold on to foolish in this manner will fade back to normal and although their dynamic won’t change much internally he won’t feel the need to pretend he is more then just tolerated.

I just realised something about Harvey that kinda makes me love him even more.

Harvey works in a capitalistic environment, profit comes first and the rest is just costs. He’s a capitalist in that way let’s not kid ourselves. But the ironic thing is that Harvey doesn’t spend like someone with his money could, or better yet, he doesn’t spend it on irrelevant stuff. Throughout the show we notice he only buys stuff he genuinely cares about and not just to have them.

His tailored suits because that’s what he identifies with and he appreciates the craftsmanship. Cars because he’s genuinely passionate about them, but notice how he doesn’t own them. His one apartment and no other estate that we know of because that’s his home.

And now to the most important part. This makes it clear that to Harvey, money by itself isn’t valuable. It’s what you can do with it. He pays Donna’s salary even when she was working for Louis because he knows she deserves it. He paid for a lot of things for Mike too because guess what? He cares about the boy, too. His senior partnership buy in of $ 500,000.00. He saved up for that the moment he started working for Jessica. He genuinely even considered staying at the DA’s office if it weren’t for Cameron’s bullshit. And I’d bet he works for Jessica as hard as he does because 1. he loves being a lawyer 2. he cares about Jessica and wants to pay her back for putting him through Harvard. This man didn’t come from money and surprisingly, when he got it, it didn’t change him much. He still loves his old records.

He likes to pretend he’s only all about that money and the prestige but if you take your time to look a little closer you can see he’s not like that. He spends his downtime watching movies, going boxing in a small gym, and driving up to the Berkshires to stay in a cabin.
