Chapter 1 here
Fandom: The Owl House
Rating: Teen
Summary: Luz confesses to Eda and King what happened in the emperor’s mind.
Tagging @trevorendeavors, @fyregyrl, and @iwbf-reblogs.
-
Occasionally, Eda would quietly come down, just to check on the kid. And Luz would be lying limply on the couch, still awake, staring at the ceiling blankly. Like there was something in the air only she could see.
  It was unnerving.
King would also try to console Luz himself, such as snuggling, or giving her Francois. But she did nothing other than give a weak pat on the head, and turn onto her side. So, King finally got the message to give her space.
“But what if she changes her mind and wants a hug?” King questioned.
“Trust me, bud, I’m worried too, but… our girl needs space. I don’t know what happened, but it shook both her and Blondie to the bone.”
King looked to the side. “This isn’t like her promise to her mom, is it?”
“I don’t think so. She’s hurtin’ something awful, and I just think it’s good to respect her wishes.”
The little demon sighed and sat down by the wall. “Fine. But I’m staying here where it’s easier to get to her.”
Eda nodded and stood up. “That’s fine. You take a nap or something. I’ll be up in my nest, kay?”
King nodded in affirmation, and she left to her room, keeping the door open.
Whatever happened in Belos’ mind certainly messed the two kids up. Both having panic attacks, one running away where it was definitely unsafe.
As much as she wanted to go after the blonde kid, to make sure he was okay, she knew better than that. He clearly wanted space, and going near him would make things worse.
Titan knows she had terrible experience when it came to people respecting her space when she was upset…
  ~
It felt like hours until Luz was ready.
Eda could hear King’s squeaky snores in the hallway as she laid in her nest. Like Luz, she was restless. Who wouldn’t be?
She was jolted out of her thoughts by a soft knock on her door. Looking up, the witch saw that it was none other than the aforementioned child. She was wringing her hands, still looking sheepishly at the floor.
Right away, Eda stepped out of her nest and winced at the crack in her knees, and made her way over to the girl.
“Luz? What’s up, kid?” She asked in a low voice, not wanting to startle her.
Luz, still staring at the floor, leaned forward and rested her forehead against Eda’s chest. The witch responded by humming and awkwardly patting her head.
  “Everything okay?”
  A shrug of the shoulders.
“Are you… ready to tell us what happened?”
She felt a nod against her chest, and in the quietest voice, the kid said, “I’m ready.”
  “Okay.”
Slowly, Eda led her back downstairs, telling her to wait by the coffee table, where she slumped down on her knees, face dull. She’d get her some more paper, just in case.
Then, Eda went to wake up King, who was still curled up on the floor.
“King, wake up,” She said, gently shaking him. When he opened his eyes, she looked towards Luz on the floor. “It’s time.”
  “Luz is ready to talk.”
  -
At first, Luz didn’t say anything at all, just sat there and fidgeted with her hands, and the pencil she was holding. She looked afraid to even speak.
“Look, kid, just take your time. We’re not going anywhere.” Eda said, sitting on the couch across from her.
Luz nodded in acknowledgement and brought the paper closer.
“Umm… so, uh,” Luz seemed to stumble over her words.
“R-remember when Lilith came over? A-and we found time pools?”
Uhh, yeah. But what did that have to do with being in the fucking Emperor’s mind?
“It turns out… ugh, god, I messed up so bad, Eda…” Luz choked out, on the verge of crying again.
“Hey! Hey. Breathe. It’s okay. Whatever happened, it wasn’t your fault.” Eda would keep repeating that until Luz believed it.
But the girl shook her head. “It is my fault, Eda. All of it.”
  “Kid, slow down, it’s alright.”
Luz wiped her eyes and began to draw. She completed an oddly well-done sketch of her, Lilith, and an arrow pointing at who she said was Philip Wittebane. Then she drew another arrow, pointing to none other than… Belos’ mask.
  She… couldn’t be serious, right?
“Okay, okay, so Belos is actually a crazy human. But… something else happened, right?”
Luz nodded slowly, but put the pencil down again.
That was when King left the room for a few minutes, and came back with about four of his stuffed animals. The girl said nothing as he tucked them around her. To both their relief, she started to relax.
“Promise you won’t hate me?” Luz said softly.
“Luz, we could never.” Eda said firmly. King nodded in agreement.
“Okay…” Luz prepared to draw again, despite her shaking hands.
(Eda wondered how on the Isles she was able to draw so well when she was this freaked out.)
“So, ah, when we met Philip, he seemed really nice, b-but as you know, he wasn’t,” Luz resumed.
“What does this have to do with the emperor’s mind?” King asked hesitantly. Eda almost scolded him for interrupting the kid.
“I’m getting there,” She answered with a mumble. On the paper, she drew the portal door, but it was surrounded by an arch and connected to wires.
“In his memories… the door was rebuilt. It was there the whole time.”
“Oh, Titan,” Eda exclaimed softly. Yeah, that was absolutely not good news. Who knows what his plans are?
Did the coven heads know about it? Did Raine?
“Also, when we saw that memory, th-there was someone else there.” Luz turned the paper over, and drew a hooded character, almost abstract. She labeled it “The Collector”.
“Hold up, kid, wasn’t the Collector mentioned in that diary?”
The girl nodded nervously. “Philip was looking for them, a-and… I think he found them.”
“...How?” Eda was almost afraid to ask. “I thought you and Lily attacked him.”
Luz dropped the pencil again and gripped her shoulders.
  “I-I can’t - “ She stammered.
When she started scratching again, King scampered away to get more plushies, which he piled up behind Luz. To his disappointment, she didn’t respond. She was staring into space again…
  Oh, shit.
Then, Eda spotted her jacket, which was left on the floor earlier. She picked it up and gently placed it over Luz’s shoulders, and helped get her arms through the sleeves, hopefully to get her to feel safer.
What the heck did Belos do to you?
“Luz,” Eda placed her hand on her shoulder. “You know you can tell us. We won’t resent you.”
Luz remained silent. It was unsettling. Next to her, King tentatively placed a paw on her leg, before wrapping his small arms around her as best he could. Finally, Luz blinked, sniffled, and hugged back with one arm. The witch sighed in relief.
“It’s obvious this whole thing is tearing you apart, honey…” Eda murmured. Then, she got up, ignoring the crack in her knees, and took a soft blanket off one of the chairs, then leaned over to throw it around the kid’s shoulders. To the witch’s relief, her kid reached up to pull it further around her, relishing in the safety.
After King pulled away, Luz began speaking again.
“The Collector, he, I think he and Belos are teaming up to kill everybody on the Isles,” She said fearfully. “I saw them talking.”
Whoever this “Collector” was, they were certainly frightening to Luz. And something burned in Eda’s mind at the mere mention of them.
  Cool it, birdbrain.
“He… the reason he even found the Collector… was because of me. I was the one who helped him. I was the one who trusted him. And now, i-it turns out he’s - ,”
Luz stopped and picked up the pencil again. It was her third piece of paper. Eda looked to Hooty and beckoned him forward, whispering to him to get her her favorite tea. Of course, he came back with a steaming cup, placing it on the coffee table.
When she was done, it was Belos (Philip? Nobody knew anymore.), without his mask, holding a Golden Guard mask. Luz gulped as she wrote the words “witch hunter”.
Only vaguely did Eda recognize those words. At least, from her past trips to the human realm.
“I’m, uh, gonna assume that term is literal?”
  Luz nodded, confirming her fears.
“That is just… wow.” Eda said, covering her mouth.
She knew that Belos was a monster, but learning that he was actually a human literally trained to murder witches, it was even more terrifying, to say the least.
He just… planned on killing everyone from the start, huh?
In front of her, Luz had the steaming purple mug in her hands, looking ahead at the drawings with wide, glazed eyes.
Eda took a deep breath, trying to find the right words.
“…This is a lot to take in.”

TL;DR: Belos tricked me into thinking his stupid fake story and logic made sense and, even if I didn’t believe him as a person, I didn’t bat an eye at it and I’m mad >:( /j
When you think about it, Belos’s “mimimi wild magic is dangerous because it killed our family so therefore it must be destroyed mimimi” false story was something that had glaringly obvious holes in it, considering “wild magic” is just…not being bound to one type of magic.
You could say that what “killed his family sob” was specifically multiple types of magic mixed together, but, in-universe, wild witches just…have two or more different types of magic. That’s it. The only people who actually mixed magic in the show are the Detention Track kids and the combo Glyphs Eda and Lilith found out, which, at least the last one, we didn’t know Belos found them out yet. It’s just too vague of a category!!!
And how exactly is “regular” magic any less dangerous than “wild” magic? Especially when that difference wasn’t even a thing pre-Belos; Witches and demons alike just used magic as they pleased. Nobody would be able to tell the difference because there was no difference and even an outsider would know that. Something looking obviously different, like the glyphs, would be something that made sense as being banned, but the old ways were used by literally everyone.
If we really took the story that his family was killed by that “kind” of magic to be true, then wouldn’t Belos want to regulate and/or destroy all types of magic, as he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, since they’re all equally dangerous? And, well… look what happened!!!
I already figured that story was a fake, but only due to the pattern Belos as a person established with his lying. For example:
It’s told that Belos taught “savage” witches and the photo is shown as classic them smiling and him in power propaganda -> It’s shown that Belos reign was of terror and we hear all the screams of those damned souls, while the picture is reframed in a horrific light //// Belos promises to Lilith he will heal Eda’s curse if she captures her -> He admits to lying as soon as said subordinate does, sending Eda to her petrification cerimony. //// His propaganda relies on him speaking to the Titan and it wanting things to be like this -> at the Owl Family’s escape, he lies to the crowd that this unplanned event was actually the Titan’s Will all along, when, in fact, it was just his plans going wrong.
So when literally everything at that point told us he lied about all that brought him power, I called the story he told his victim bullshit immediately. However, I was later made uncertain about that because of the way he brainwashed the cast to uncritically believe his words, so it just looked like what the story was going for, therefore I just. Didn’t really question the logic of the tale itself, when really thinking about it would destroy any chances of it being true.
To be honest this post doesn’t really, like, have a point, exactly. I just rewatched a little S2A recently and it got me thinking, thought it was a fun little detail about how hindsight destroys us all!

Hello. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Well, as what the photo says above. Yes this post may have some sensitive topics as it deals with the struggles of convincing children, hints of miscarriages, and a nsfw scenario. Please be respectful to the content that me and @johnnysfire made together.
Thank you @lavendersies for actually inspiring the idea from our little chat room!
With out further ado, here is the story and art work:
————————
Blight Manor had been through a shift recently. Although they already had two children, the halls in manor were awfully quiet, leaving them longing for something else. Something they desired so much, but it was the hardest thing that either wanted to achieve. Odalia and Alador were trying to conceive another child. The continuing hope after having twins was crushed by the information that was given to them from the healers.
“I’m sorry Mr. and Mrs. Blight, but I look like the chances of you naturally conceiving a child is extraordinarily low…”
“Between Odalia’s…”
“And Alador’s…”
“There’s a very limited chance…”
Those words rang through his ears. It made his stomach twist and his eyes water.
Alador looked at himself in the mirror. Despite just taking a shower moments prior, eyes were still baggy and his hair was disheveled. The witch was so, so tired, physically and mentally. Alador was tired of trying. He just wanted this one to work. Hell, if Odalia and him managed to conceive two beautiful, healthy twins, maybe, just maybe they would be able to pull off having another. They were almost in their second year of trying. Two years of negatives, breakdowns, and miscarriages. He doesn’t even know how much more of this heartbreak Odalia could take.
“Alador, I-I think something’s wrong with the baby-”
“Alador, I’m bleeding…”
“It hurts Alador..it hurts so bad...”
Why is it so easy for people to accidentally have a child after one stupid night, while we practically beg to the Titan to help us conceive a child?
Alador felt a delicate pair of arms wrap around him and a head pressing into his back. He let out a lengthy sigh.
She’s not the same anymore either.
Odalia had just put the twins down to sleep. He turned around to face the love of his life. As to his suspicions, Odalia looked completely heartbroken. How is it that a mother could weep for her baby without bearing one? It wasn’t fair in the slightest. She gave the faintest smile as she took off the towel that was covering his body. Alador looked into those golden hues, just to confirm that this is what she really wanted. She gave a faint nod.
Alador began to remove Odalia’s dress. The couple began to make their way over to the bed. With clothes scattered all over their room, Alador paused as he began to look at Odalia. It’s been a long time since he’s actually glanced at her like this. Alador noticed how beautiful Odalia was. No matter what they’ve been through, their love will always still be here.
Odalia gave a soft smile as she pulled Alador closer to her. They shared a chaste kiss as Alador pulled Odalia’s body closer to him. They needed this. All their emotions were pent up and they craved that sweet release.
He slowly entered her. This moment right there would always feel so personal to both of them. They weren’t doing this to try. They were doing this to feel something other than misery. They wanted to feel each other’s love. Alador picked up his pace and slowly began to feel something more, but couldn’t place what it was. He glanced down at Odalia. He could tell it still all the same for Odalia. From the way she scrunched her face or let out a gasp. It was the same from all the years prior. The way she said his name kept spurring him on. His mouth began to drool, saliva dripping down his mouth. Odalia looked up and saw Alador drool. It caused her pupils to dilate more and felt more turned on.
“Alador...”
Why do I feel like this?
“Yes, Alador!”
Like I wanted to scream and tear down everything. I want everything to feel the way I do.
“ALADOR!”
I feel horrible.
He let out a final groan, letting everything out. By the sound of it, Odalia was done too. But it wasn’t enough for Alador. Nothing will ever be enough for him. Alador froze in place. His body began to convulse. Odalia felt tears on her cheeks, but they weren’t hers. She look up to see Alador silently sobbing. “Are you okay?” Alador felt his cheek to see that he was crying. He look down at his wife. “I’m… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry I ruined the mood.” Odalia propped up herself on her elbows. “You didn’t ruin it. Wanna talk about it?” Alador avoided looking into her eyes. “I...It’s just that what if it was me? Not being able to get you pregnant.” Odalia frowned.
Tumblr media
“Alador… it’s not… you’re not… it’s not your fault okay?”
She’s lying to me.
“Just try to get some sleep.”
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to.
“You’ll feel better. I love you.”
I’ll never feel better. It’s all my fault.
Odalia placed a soft kiss on his lips as she quietly drifted off into slumber, with a soft “good night”. But Alador couldn’t fall asleep.
Roughly two hours later, Odalia woke up to notice that Alador was missing from their bed. She panicked and got up and dressed decently before going to look for her love. Before she continued her search, Odalia opened the door to Emira and Edric’s room. They were sound asleep. She smiled at her children and continued. She noticed that Alador’s study door was opened. He usually closed it off before going to bed. Odalia quietly walked in to see Alador’s body shaking. The somber atmosphere in the room made Odalia’s heartbreak.
It’s not like I haven’t seen him like this before…
He’s always hiding himself from me.
Even in school… I always found it cute.
“Hey Alador! Whatcha reading?”
“Oh! H-Hey Odalia. It’s n-nothing.”
I noticed he was reading some sort of manga.
“Oh that’s-”
I looked up to notice that he was gone.
Even when we failed, he always hid himself from me...
I opened the door and there he was. Sobbing in his study. Another failed attempt. Another miscarrige. I took a step into his study but I slowly backed away. He needed to be alone.
This time I won’t let him be alone. I need to be there for him.
As Odalia walked closer, she gently placed her hands on Alador’s face. “What’s the matter, love?” Alador struggles to speak. Everything that he built up inside of him just came crashing down. Silent tears start dripping down his cheek. Alador’s mind began to race again.
“There’s a very limited chance…”
“I think this is the one.”
“Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Blight, Odalia is pregnant.”
“It hurts Alador..it hurts so much...”
“It’s….IT’S ME! I’M THE REASON YOU CAN’T GET PREGNANT!” he bellowed out. He lowered his head as the sobs kept arriving. Odalia could only see pain in his face. She knows exactly what he is feeling. Guilt. She wrapped her arms around him. During this troubling time to conceive, Alador hadn’t cried once. “W-Why am I crying? I can’t stop...” He was so used to being strong. Now… he didn’t have to be anymore. Odalia just kept on hearing him say “I’m sorry”. Like he had no control over himself. Which is partly true. Alador really has no control anymore. He needs to be comforted just like he comforted Odalia. “I’m broken.” he choked. Odalia sighed and placed a kiss onto Alaodr’s forehead. “You are not broken, Alador. This is from both of us. We can’t control what happens, but all I know is that we have had a long road ahead of us. We can do this... together.” Alador looked up again at his wife. In her eyes, there was a faint glimmer of hope. It left the faintest smile on his face.
Maybe, just maybe, this one worked...

Small Time Witch (27)
A S G A R D
When you were a small child you attended a Christian nursery school until you were old enough to start kindergarten. One of your very earliest memories was how your teacher described heaven. She called it paradise where the weather was always warm and there were so many trees and mountains and sprawling landscapes. “In the middle,” she would say “is the Lord’s palace. It is so bright and shiny that you will almost be blinded by its majesty.” Perhaps the teacher had been a former resident of Asgard.
You stood at the foot of the Bifrost bridge where Heimdall greeted you. In the distance was the palace glistening like a jewel amongst the stone statues and mountains. The water beneath the bridge looked like it was made of glass it was so still and blue. If you didn’t know better you would have believed you were walking into Oz.
Heimdall stood next to you staring into the horizon with his gold eyes glinting in the sun. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?”
“Yeah” was all you could manage.
“Welcome to Asgard, Princess.” You were startled back into reality.
“I’m not a princess. Please call me Y/N.”
“Your marriage to the Prince is recognized by the throne. It would be improper of me to call you by your name. The Allfather is expecting you.” He directed you into the care of two palace guards who freaking bowed to you. They loaded you into a small craft that zipped you to the palace.
Thor was waiting for you at the door. He introduced himself extending his hand. You reminded him that you were family and you hug. “It’s weird, Thor, because in another life I know you. We’re very close and get into all sorts of trouble together. Usually alcohol is involved.”
He laughed and drew you into his Vice grip. “You remind me of my mother. That may serve you well today.”
“I hope so. The only Odin stories I ever hear are of him being super gruff. He was even a little mean to Jane. Who can be mean to Jane Foster? Sweetest person ever.”
“You know of my Jane?”
“Of course. We’re very good friends. When you’re in town you two usually stay with us. It’s nice.” You didn’t have the heart to tell him that Jane passed away due to complications from cancer. Bruce thought the Aether likely mutated her cells and her body didn’t handle it well. Knowing that you were friends with Jane put a little smile on his face so you chose to keep it to yourself.
When you approached Odin you bowed. He peered down at you from his throne. He looked older than you thought he would. The guy was ancient. You supposed he shouldn’t look young. He looked more frail than anything.
He stood up and walked down the steps to be closer to you. “So this is the Midgardian witch who captured my son’s heart? You are very impressive, young lady. I’ve heard of your talents. Let’s leave this room and retire to my chambers. We’ll have more privacy.” He offered his arm which you took. Thor followed behind. “Please, sit. Now, what can I do for you?”
“Right down to business. Ok. Your highness, I am here to negotiate the terms of Loki’s sentence. The King and small council of Vanaheim have offered to keep Loki in the palace, with your consent of course. In exchange, they will keep me in the Temple of the Vanir to learn their ways. Also, my powers allow me to absorb the energy of the infinity stones. There is a Titan searching for the stones, sir. In my time, he destroyed Asgard and Xandar looking for them. If I can possess even two of them, I can stop him before he lays waist to the Nine.”
He did not say anything for several minutes. You were terrified. Finally, “The Vanir intend to weaponize you. Is that what I’m understanding?”
“I suppose that would imply that they have some sort of control over me. I will not be a weapon against another realm.”
“And if they use Loki as leverage, what choice would you have?”
You took a deep breath so you wouldn’t have a tone in your voice. “With all due respect, Allfather, they wouldn’t have the strength to fight me. I know how this sounds. It is dangerous and there is no guarantee I’ll succeed. I have to try.”
“Thor? What do you think? Another one of Loki’s tricks?”
You started to panic. Thor’s brow was knitted together. He was skeptical of the whole plan.
“Please. Don’t you have your own prophet? How can I prove to you that I’m not tricking you? What can I do?”
“Thor, call in Freyr. Let’s see if he can make sense of this.”
When Freyr saw you his face lit up. “Princess! How lovely to see you again. May I have a moment alone with the girl?”
The two men left the room. “You remember meeting me?” Your voice was trembling.
“Of course! Are you still so naive to think time is linear? This, my dear, is your destiny. The Norns give you the illusion of free will when really all of this was predetermined. You are here because you are meant to fight this war.”
“And Loki?”
He patted you on the head, “He’ll come around.”
When Odin and Thor came back in Freyr did most of the talking. Odin agreed to come with you to Vanaheim to meet with the king and investigate this threat. That was all you could ask for.
He invited you to stay for a couple of days to get acquainted with your new home. It wasn’t a request that much you knew. Thor was happy to show you around. He brought you to your chambers which were near Frigga’s. He showed you her gardens and told you to feel free to explore. There were some sheers on a small table. You slipped them in your pocket so you could take some clippings. She had everything you could possibly need to preform a spell. Literally any spell you could think of.
Thor followed you listening to you speak about the flowers and herbs that grew wild there. The more you spoke the more he understood why Loki chose you. You were so like their mother but with a jagged edge. Poised and gentle but you would definitely cut a bitch without a second thought.
Once you sat down for lunch he worked up the courage to ask about his brother.
“Y/N, can you tell me why my brother did this? Why Midgard specifically?”
You put down your fork and looked him directly in the eyes, “I think you know the answer to that question. Because you loved Earth. Because Earth loved you. You found Jane. He was jealous and angry and took it out on you. But it took him years to admit that he was really so deeply hurt by Odin’s admission.”
“But why not fight me directly? The people on Midgard were innocent.” He was beginning to get angry. You had to remember this just happened so the wounds were still fresh.
“He did fight you directly in New Mexico. When he turned the Bifrost onto Jotunheim he effectively killed that part of himself. The part he thought monstrous. When he let go of Odin’s staff on the bridge, he thought he would either die or live on in exile somewhere. He was ready to leave it behind. But Thanos found him. First he seduced him with power and revenge then he tortured him into subjugation. For a whole year he tortured him. Then, during the attack, he was controlled by the mind stone and The Other could hear him. That’s why he didn’t relent when you said you would bring him home.”
Thor was quiet. You could see tears in his eyes. He had never thought of his brother as a monster. Even when the glory of Loki’s destruction rained down from the heavens, he still loved his brother. He thought back on how Loki looked when he saw him before Chitauri invaded. He looked sick and bruised. He was having trouble standing. The amount of force it would take to mark a god’s skin was beyond comprehension. And now, all he knew was that Loki was recovering on Vanaheim. He had no idea just how close to death Loki was.
When you returned to Vanaheim you went directly to the Temple of the Vanir. Thor went right to his brother. He was outwardly shocked by Loki’s appearance.
“Have you come to throw me in the dungeon?” Loki held Thor’s eyes to attempt to intimidate him. It wasn’t working. He winced as he tried to sit up straighter. Thor would not dare help him in fear of injuring his already fragile pride.
“No, brother. I’m here to talk.”
“I don’t want to talk.”
“Then perhaps you’ll listen.” Loki looked away from him but raised his hand to signal him to carry on.
“If your quarrel was with me why not just fight me?”
“I wanted to prove to father that I can do something. He conquered realms. Why can’t I? That’s what kings do! It is my birthright!”
“Loki, I fear you and father are more alike than either of you care to admit. A king’s job is to unite the realms not to simply rule.”
Loki looked away in shame. “I would have been a good king. Both loved and feared. I would have built an empire.”
“And we all would have watched helpless as it consumed and destroyed you. Forget all of that. You have been given a second chance, brother. A chance with this woman who shares your spirit. Do not squander it lying about feeling sorry for yourself.”
Loki quirked his brow. He thought you had taken your one way trip back home after the way he treated you. Surely you weren’t still carrying on with your plan. The thing was no matter where you were on Vanaheim, he could feel you. Now he can’t. “She hasn’t gone?”
“No. She’s in the temple preparing for the stone. I’m going there myself. Why don’t you join me?”
“Funny. I can’t feel her.”
Thor gave him a weak smile and patted him on the shoulder. “Mother gave her free reign in her garden. No telling what manner of spell she conjured. I’m sure it’s for your own protection.”
You were a clever little witch. He would never say it aloud but he loved how quick you were. If you succeeded with the stones you two would be the most powerful couple in the known universe. You could probably dethrone Odin together. No army would be powerful enough to stop you. He stuck those thoughts into the back of his mind. You were uninterested in power in the way that Loki was. He could not understand your altruistic nature. All of this risk and for what? For people who didn’t know you existed. Though, if you didn’t care for others, he supposed you would have moved on by now and never given him a second chance. Perhaps now was the time to put such irrational things aside and support you.
——————————————————————
The Vanir worked quickly to construct a room strong enough to withstand a nuclear blast. You would have to crush the stone to release its full power. The only weapon strong enough for that was Mjölnir. If you were not worthy enough to wield it, Thor would have to be in the room with you. There was a real potential neither of you would make it out alive. First thing first, you had to lift the hammer.
The weight of Mjölnir would be of no concern if you were worthy. You stepped up to the handle and with effort you rocked it a little. Thor looked nervous. “You can do this, little sister.”
You took a deep breath, closed your eyes and on three you lifted again with an unburdened mind and a clear heart. The hammer was in your hands.
Gasps filled the room. No one dared utter a word. You let Mjölnir dangle from your wrist and made your way to Loki. “Lok, listen, if I don’t make it...”
“Shush, mortal. You will.”
You put your hand over his mouth, “If I don’t make it, please know that for one brief blissful moment, you were happy. We were happy. I love you.” He gripped your hand and opened his mouth to speak but you stopped him. “Don’t say it if it’s not true. Please.”
“Y/N, you will make it. I have faith in you.” You stared into each other’s eyes searchingly.
“You want to kiss me right now don’t you?”
He chuckled, “Desperately.”
You planted the softest most barely there kiss on his lips. He pulled you in to deepen the kiss. The tip of his tongue pressed against yours for just a second and then he released you. You pressed a knotted clipping of Yggdrasil into his palm and hung a tiny gold screw driver around his neck. When you walked away a gold bracelet adorned with emeralds dangled around your wrist. Around your left ring finger was a twin piece of knotted Yggdrasil. The screwdriver was warm to the touch and, if he listened closely, he swore he heard your heart beating.
You went into the room and slammed the metal shut and froze the lock. You held out your hand and forced the cube to crush with your magic. All that remained was the stone. This little blue stone that shined with the light of a million lightning strikes. It floated in the air. You circled it balancing Mjölnir on your shoulder. You plucked the blue candy button out of the air and placed it on the floor. As if it knew it was about to be set free, it released a high pitched whine. You raised the hammer into the air and with all of the force you could summon, you struck it. The room flooded with blue light so bright you couldn’t look directly at it. It sucked in its energy and then exploded outward sending shards of the jewel into your skin. It pushed you around the room like a pinball pinging you off of any surface it could find. You felt like your flesh was separating off of your bones and you were turning to liquid. All at once it went dark and dropped you to the ground.
——————————————————————
Loki paced the floor muttering to himself. Everyone else held their breathing straining to hear any sound. An utterance to let them know you’re alive. That’s when they heard the explosion. Blue light radiated from every exposed crack and nail hole. They heard your body careening off the walls and, with an unsettling thud, the room fell silent.
Loki rushed to the door trying to pry it open. The lock was jammed. Thor tried too but it wouldn’t budge. Njord yelled over their banging that the door was at least five inches thick. You wouldn’t hear them. He tried the key but it broke in the lock. Freyr used his seiðr to crush the door. When it fell away from it’s hinges, you emerged. Your hair had gone completely white and your eyes looked cloudy. You blinked a few times and they went back to normal.
You handed Thor his hammer and patted him on the shoulder. “Sister, speak to us. Are you well?”
You smiled and nodded. You took Loki’s hand in yours. Electricity crackled off of your fingertips. You smiled and opened a black void behind you for which to escape. In the blink of an eye you were on Asgard then Midgard then back to the temple. He laughed and clapped his hands, “You are a clever little witch aren’t you?”
“Princess...” Njord looked worried. You were unaware of your physical changes. You may have been a mutant but you were still a mortal. The stone could have severely injured you. “Your highness, please. We need to get you upstairs.”
“Relax, Njord. I’m perfectly fine. I feel amazing.” You were talking a mile a minute.
He kept insisting and you grew impatient. The more impatient you were the more your hands glowed and your eyes changed. “Njord, let’s give the Prince and Princess some space. She’ll come upstairs shortly.” Frigga ushered everyone out so you and Loki could sit in peace.
You couldn’t sit. Your skin felt too tight for your body. You needed to expel some energy. “Y/N, what’s going on in your head?”
“A million things. I’m wondering if I should go to south London right now since I know where the aether is. I’m wondering if the rest of my powers are amplified. I feel like I’m plugged into a massive battery, Lok. Maybe I can heal you quicker than Njord. Can I try?!”
He laughed and pulled you down into the chair next to him, “You’re like an excited puppy. Let’s go outside before you piddle on the floor. We can test your powers there.”
He lead you to an open space where you could work without fear of hurting someone. Your powers were indeed amplified. Your electricity was more like lightning. You grew a sapling into a knotted mature tree. You split yourself up into many clones and made it rain over the two of you. All of that should have tired you out but it did not. The last thing was to heal Loki. That was sure to drain you as broken as he was. You placed your hands on his solar plexus and went to work. Every ache and pain subsided every cut knitted itself back together. He felt reborn. You were settled.
You went back to the palace for dinner to talk strategy with Odin and the king. Since you and Loki were the only ones who ever faced Thanos, it was crucial that you were involved. You came to the conclusion that you needed numbers. You would divide the realms and enlist help even from the Dark Elves and Jötuns. You and Thor would go to Earth to speak with SWORD who handled all extra dimensional doings. Everyone agreed that Loki shouldn’t travel to Midgard just yet. You insisted the Avengers not be involved but, your X-men friends would be delighted to assist. At this point, they were more powerful anyway.
When you retired for the evening, Loki walked you back to your room. “May I ask you something?” His eyes were fixed on the floor he tried his hardest to sound confident. You lifted his chin so he would look at you. “Why couldn’t I sense you when you arrived? Why can’t I feel you now?”
“I guess I just wanted you to feel your own feelings for a change. I thought I might be overwhelming you.”
“I thought...” he laced his fingers in with yours, “I thought you were angry with me.”
“Oh I was. You’ve never raised your voice to me. It hurt. I didn’t want you to know how much.”
He didn’t know how much he missed you in the short time you were gone. He missed you right now and you were standing right in front of him. He kissed you on the corner of your mouth, “I’m sorry to have raised my voice. I’m sorry I’m hurting you. I wish I could love you as you love me. I am trying, Pet.”
“Lok, you can’t fall in love with someone in such a short period. We have time.” You kissed him gently and slipped into your room.
He stayed outside of your chambers for a while with his head pressed against the door. Love was not something he gave freely. He wished things were different. He wished his future self never helped Thor. He wished he would know the happiness you spoke of. One day he would. For now he would keep on disappointing you.
——————————————————————
The next morning you woke up and surveyed the clothing you were gifted. Nothing screamed Midgard 2012 to you. You waved your hand over your body and came up with something more south London and less Stratford Upon Avon. Satisfied with your look you set out to Loki’s chambers.
You knocked but he didn’t answer. Once more and a giggling flustered chamber maid opened. She straitened up when she saw your face and readjusted her apron straps. “Princess!” she yelped. “Apologies. Prince Loki should be along shortly.”
“You know what? Tell him don’t bother.”
She called after you but you didn’t turn around. You kept your spine straight and let your head high. Your heels clacked loudly as you stomped through the halls with a walk that would make Naomi Campbell proud.
Thor was coming out of his room and smiled when he saw you, “Good morning, sister! You’re looking well.”
“Are you ready to go? I don’t think it’s wise for Loki to show his face on earth.”
Thor was pretty daft when it came to the whims of the fairer sex but your face was speaking loud and clear. You held his hand and landed in a warehouse in London. You searched high and low but struck out.
“What exactly are we looking for?”
“A void filled with a red mist.”
“And you are certain it’s here?”
“This is where Jane found it, yes.”
“Is this around the time she found it. Maybe it’s not here yet.”
“No, it’s here. I can feel it. I just have to ah! It’s here.”
He swung Mjölnir and the wall crumbled. You stuck your hand in and he grabbed you.
“Wait. Is this wise? I feel like one of the Vanir should be with you or at least Loki. If anything goes wrong I won’t know how to help you.”
“Your brother is more interested in his chamber maids than saving the universe. If anything goes wrong, call for Heimdall.”
“Did you catch him with someone else? It’s very common in royal marriages...”
The Aether called to you and effectively drowned him out. While he prattled on you put your arm through the wall and let it take you. It meshed with the space stone because they were meant to be together. Their energies lifted you up off the ground and light poured out your eyes mouth and fingers. You collapsed back down where Thor caught you. He shook you but you were unable to focus. You put your fingers to your mouth and pulled away with crimson soaked tips. Thor scooped you into his arms cursing you and then raised Mjölnir to call Heimdall. Just then you stopped him.
“No. No, I’m fine. Don’t call him.”
“But, sister.”
“No. Put me down.” He did as he was told and carefully set you on your feet. You smoothed your hair and fixed your clothes. With a flourish all of the blood vanished.
“Come on. Let’s go see Jane.”
“You are out of your mind. I have to get you back to Njord.”
“Nonsense. I have to see Dr. Selvig to fix what my darling husband broke. And you, brother, need to see Jane. You miss her. I want you to be happy. She needs to be happy. Just take her to lunch.”
He agreed but insisted you take more traditional transportation rather than using your powers. You found the nearest train station and took the tube to Jane’s office. This Jane was a lot less together than the Jane you knew. She was so stunned to see Thor at her door that she could barely speak.
You introduced yourself as Loki’s wife but assured her your marriage was less gothic romance and more Charles and Di. A reference that Thor didn’t understand but Jane did perfectly. She brought you to Dr. Selvig who was speaking nonsensically. He seemed to recognize you right away. Though you had not yet met he knew the energy that was inside you. You placed your hands on either side of his head and pulled the power of the space stone out of him. He was weak but thinking for himself.
You practically pushed the happy couple out of the door to have lunch on you. You conjured a credit card an an id for Thor. You said you had business to attend to.
Darcy offered to give you a ride which you happily accepted. Had her drop you in front of Claridge's, a very posh hotel in Hyde Park, where you intended to relax and partake in retail therapy. Magically their best room was available for the evening. You held your breath when they ran your card. You had no idea if it would work. Luckily it did. The porter showed you to your room. You asked for a bottle of single malt and a glass to be left in the seating area. You kicked off your shoes and started to unbutton your blouse when you heard a man clear his throat.
You had not immediately seen Mobius M. Mobius when you entered. Funny, neither did the porter. Electricity crackled in your fingers and, as you raised them to strike, he walked toward you. “Holster those weapons, Mrs. Laufeyson. Or is it Odinson? Either way. I’m not here to hurt you. Just to talk.”
“Do you drink scotch?”

In Your Honor - Ch. 5
Tumblr media
Luz has wanted nothing more in life other than to join the ranks of the Emperor's Knights - the highest rank of royalty defenders, but after a disaster of a first impression with the bratty princess, she starts to wonder if it’s worth it.
Of all the things Amity could be doing right now, going for a walk with Boscha of all people wasn't exactly what she had planned. She had planned to take a stroll to clear her mind and get some peace, before her attention was demanded elsewhere. What she did not account for was the Duchess Boscha to demand to go with her ‘just in case she fell ill again’. The two turned a corner as Boscha told Amity about her “daring” battle with another lower class royal and it took all of Amity's self control to not roll her eyes directly at the other girl.
“You should have seen the look on his face, your highness.” A smug smile was plastered on the three-eyed girl's face. “He didn't expect me to pull out a third sword.”
“Where did you even hide a third sword?” Amity raised a brow but didn't take her eyes off the hallway in front of them. She wouldn't admit it but she was searching for a way out for sure.
“A girl never tells her secrets.” The Duchess winks and this time Amity doesn't try to stop herself when she rolls her eyes as she lets out a soft chuckle.
They enter a new hallway and Amity spots Willow, along with the human Luz, having a conversation near the end. It seems like they were finishing up as Luz turned to leave, waving goodbye to her friend. This was the princesses chance.
“Luz!” The princess picks up her dress so as to not let it drag on the floor, jogging right up to the human. Luz stops in her tracks at the sound of the princess’s voice, turning with a raised eyebrow at the girl running up to her. Thankfully her outburst followed by her slight speed up confused the redhead that accompanied Amity, giving her a chance to speak with Luz before she caught up.
“Play along, alright?” Amity hissed at the human girl as she slid an arm around the other girl's slightly muscular arm. Wow, that's not something she was gonna think about right now.
Boscha finally catches up to them and raises one of her three eyebrows at the princess, her eyes focusing immediately on where their arms have linked.
“Sorry, Boscha, but it looks like Luz is lost again and as heir to the throne it is my duty to help all those in need.” Amity smiles at her companion, nudging Luz in the process.
“Wha-OH! Yeah, I get lost all the time in the castle, sorry about that.” Luz says, managing to look actually apologetic.
“Are you sure you wouldn’t rather have me do it, your majesty?” Boscha held out her hand as if to take the human away from Amity.
“No, no, it's alright. I can handle this simple task.” Amity responds, giving Boscha a specific look and a farewell curtsy before turning and pulling Luz along.
Amity waited until they were out of sight before she let out a breath she hadn't even realized she was holding. She allowed herself to relax as she pulled away from Luz, the human girl rubbing at the back of her neck nervously.
“So, what was that about?” Luz pointed back in the direction of Boscha.
“Hmm? Oh, her,” Amity sighs. “Boscha is.. well, we were friends at one point.” The princess makes a vague gesture with her hand as she explains. “But ever since I turned 14, she's been extra clingy.”
“What's the big deal about turning 14?” Luz tilts her head in confusion. It's not like being 14 was anything important in human culture. Maybe it was different for elves?
“Nothing,” Amity gives the other girl a particular look. “It's about what happens when I turn 15.”
“Oh! I get a quinceañera when I turn 15! Do elves have something like that?” Luz leans a little too close to the princess, causing the green haired witch to lean away in turn.
“A what? No. When the heir to the throne turns 15.. they get betrothed.” Amity says as her face drops a little, unable to hide it. Luz has never seen her look like this, and she has no idea how to feel about it.
“Okay, that sucks.” Luz says lamely as she stares at the other girl in muted shock, still trying to process this information.
“And since I turn 15 soon, Boscha has been trying for the title of my betrothed.” The witchling sighs, crossing her arms over her chest. “Not that she really has to try hard, I'm pretty sure my parents are going to pick her based on her family relations alone.”
“That's so dumb!!!” Luz shouts, slamming a fist into her open palm. “You should be allowed to marry whoever you want!! You're a princess for titans sake!”
Amity’s so surprised at Luz’s outburst that she manages to accidentally let out a laugh. Luz catches her trying to hide it behind her hand with a cough, and that action mixed with the sound of the other girl’s giggle has Luz’s own face beaming back at the princess - almost like she’s excited she got to be the one to witness this rare event. Amity averts her eyes out of fear of being blinded by Luz’s shining smile, why was she so kind and caring? No one else has ever said this about her before. Saying she should be able to choose her own future?
That’s something she’d think more on later.
“Thank you, Luz.” Amity gives the other girl a genuine smile. “For lying for me, and for thinking I deserve some kind of freedom to choose who I want to be with.”
“No problem, your highness.” Luz says as she puffs out her chest and smacks a fist against it. “It's a knight's duty to care about her princess!”
The two talk for some time before Amity has to leave. She was a princess after all, and she had other duties to attend to.
Luz left the castle that day with a new skip to her step. Her initial meeting with the princess had gone.. er.. bad. But now? She thinks she might be getting somewhere with the other girl. There’s hope for her yet, maybe they could be friends? Regardless, she couldn't wait to visit the castle again.
--
It had been a few weeks since Amity’s meeting with the human while on her walk. She hadn't seen her since and, honestly? The princess wasn't sure about how she felt about that. She had made a point to not think about it and avoid any mention of the other girl. Amity had returned to classes like normal and had acted as if nothing had happened last time she had graced them with her presence, and her teacher would often give her questioning looks but Amity would never acknowledge them.
Amity found herself sitting in the empty classroom, hours after one of said classes had ended. She flipped through her tome absentmindedly as she allowed herself to think about the human. Where had she been for the last few weeks? Her mother and aunt both worked in the castle and she had made friends with Willow and Gus. Those were all decent reasons to visit. Was it something Amity had done? No, the princess thought, she had actually been nice to the human girl their last meeting.
She lets out a sigh as she flips another page, a sound behind her getting her attention. The elf girl freezes as she hears shuffling footsteps behind her, and waits for the sound again before standing slowly. There are only three people in the castle who would sneak up on her and two of those were her siblings but there was only one set of footsteps she had heard. This meant that it had to be the only other person who would sneak up on her.
“Boscha, I’ve told you not to sneak up on me.” The princess grumbles, not turning around.
“I'm sorry, your highness.” A gruff male voice responds. “But Boscha isn't here right now.”
Amity whips around in time to see a large figure casting a magic circle.
Before she can react, the circle wraps around her throat and vanishes. The princess tries to scream but when she opens her mouth, no sound comes out. Panic sets in as she realizes the man had cast a silencing spell on her. She tries to take a step back but bumps into the desk behind her. The tall cloaked man takes a step forward, a low chuckle leaves his throat.
“I'm really sorry about this, princess, but you’re gonna have to come with me.” His voice holds no emotion as he approaches the small elf girl.
He reaches into his cloak and pulls out a jagged knife, the blade glints in the low candle light. Amity feels across the desk behind her as the assailant approaches. Her hand lands on her inkwell and wraps around it. She waits until the man lunges for her before tossing the inkwell at his face. The glass shatters against his skull and ink spills into his eyes. He shouts, tumbling backwards, as Amity dashes around him and out the door.
Out in the hallway she finds her guards unconscious, obviously under a sleep spell. She doesn't linger when she hears the man yelling from the study. With all the speed her dress would allow, she dashes down the hall. The frightened princess looks for anyone who could help her but the halls remain empty. Heavy footsteps echo behind her as she turns a corner. The man yells for her, as if she would stop for someone who had tried to kill her.
In a blind panic, the young witch finds herself running head first into another person. They tumble to the ground in a tangle of limbs, Amity quickly pulls herself up and sees that it’s Luz of all people, who’s still sitting on the ground full of confusion. The human girl stands and shakes her head before her eyes meet Amity’s.
“Amity!” She greets her, smiling brightly - and Amity has never been more happy to see the human in her life. “Is something wrong?” The human tilts her head, reading the fear on the princesses face quite quickly.
Amity opens her mouth to respond but is reminded of the silencing spell as no sound comes out, and she motions with her hand that she can’t speak. She grabs onto Luz’s upper arm firmly in hopes the girl can see the panic in her eyes as she points in the direction of which she came. Just as Luz looks up to see what Amity was pointing to, the large cloaked man turns the corner. His hood hides his face, but Luz can see the smallest hint of a smile as he approaches. Luz moves to stand in front of Amity, her hand already pulling out her few premade glyph papers.
Tumblr media
“Who are you, and what do you want?” Her voice carries an uncharacteristically dark tone to it as she guards the princess, splaying her other arm out as wide as she can.
“A commoner, just like you.” The man's gruff voice puts the human on edge, and she feels her heart rate pick up speed. “Just trying to make a point..” He takes a small step forward, holding out his hand while his other hides behind his back carefully. “Hand over the princess and run, you don't need to be a part of this.”
“What do you plan on doing to her?” Luz pushes Amity farther behind her, the princess clinging to the human. Luz can feel the other girl shaking with fear.
“Let’s just say.. We’d like to use her to make an example.” He says, the last word coming out of his lips dripping with malice.
“I don’t think I like what you’re suggesting..” Luz narrows her eyes at the man as he takes another step forward, hand still outstretched as if trying to get Luz to take it.
The human's eyes flick between the man's hand and his barely visible face. Finally she lets out a sigh and reaches out for it, as if to take it. She can feel Amity pull on her shirt behind her but she doesnt turn to see her face.
“That's it, just hand over the princess and you can go free.” The man chuckles as he goes to take the smaller girl's hand.
Before he can grasp it, Luz slaps his hand with a piece of paper. The paper is quickly engulfed in flames before becoming a searingly white floating orb, and the man shouts as he’s blinded for the second time that night.
Quickly, Luz grabs onto Amity's hand and pulls her away and around the man as he rubs at his eyes. She takes the princess to the only place she can think of, the healers hall where her mother was working a late shift. Behind her she could hear the man yelling as he chased after them. The witch in training curses under her breath, her light spell wasn't strong enough to blind him for long. Amity barely manages to keep up as they run, one hand holding onto Luz’s for dear life and the other holding up her dress so she wouldn't trip.
The two round a corner as something comes whizzing by their heads. Luz doesn't stop to see what it was as she sees the healers hall just before her. She practically kicks the door down and pulls Amity in behind her. Her mother shoots up from her spot next to a patient eyes landing on her disheveled daughter and princess.
“Mija, what are you doing?” She whispers harshly at her daughter. “There are people trying to sleep!”
“Sorry mom but there's someone chasing us and I think they want to kill Amity!” Her daughter tries to keep her voice low as she pulls Amity close to her, scared out of her own mind. The princess still holds onto Luz’s hand, her grip tight with fear.
“Woah, slow down Luz, who's chasing you?” Camilia tries to calm her daughter as another person enters the healers hall. The older woman's eyes look up to see the cloaked figure, dagger in hand. It all clicks together and she motions for the girls to get behind her. “Stay back, both of you.”
“I'm getting tired of this game of cat and mouse, princess.” The man growls, grip tightening on his dagger. “Just come with me peacefully and these humans get to live. ”
“I wouldn't count me out just yet.” Camilia reaches into her apron pocket and pulls out a few vials of a dark red liquid.
The older woman holds out her arm to guard the children as she tosses two of the vials at the cloaked figure. The glass shatters against his chest and the red liquid splatters over him, and he looks down at his drenched cloak before letting out a boisterous laugh.
“Did you really think a weak human potion could stop me?” He hisses as he goes to take a step forward. Just as he moves he notices smoke rising off his cloak before the red liquid starts to bubble, and then foam. “What the..!?”
“Not so weak now, am I?” Camilia placed a hand on her hip, a mocking tone to her voice as the man became completely covered in a thick red foam.
Amity realizes her voice has returned as the man's concentration is interrupted, and squeezes Luz’s hand to get the other girl's attention as Camilia leaves to retrieve the guards. She finds herself incapable of meeting her eyes as she struggles to find the right words.
“..Thank you, Luz.” She finally settles on something simple, her voice sounding a little horse from being locked away.
“Don’t mention it. I mean, I am training to be a future Emperors Knight, this is just all part of the job technically!” Luz smiles at the princess in reassurance, looking a lot less shaken than before now that her mother has taken care of the threat.
Amity finally meets the other girls eyes and realizes just how close they're standing to each other. She takes a tentative step back and lets go of the other girl's hand. Luz frowns at the lack of contact but doesn't reach for the princess, knowing the girl might need her space. Before either of them can say another word the Blight twins come running into the healers hall, voices overlapping as they show concern for their younger sister.
“Amity!” Emira rushes up and wraps her arms around the youngest Blight. “Are you okay?” She holds her sister close, stroking her hair. Amity clings to her sister and nods as Edric approaches and wraps his arms around both his sisters.
Luz hears a small sniffle from the princess and decides to give her space and time to be with her siblings. She walks past the man covered in foam, his muffled shouts barely audible. The young witch in training sticks her tongue out childishly at the man before heading out into the hallway. As she opens the door she sees several Emperors Knights being led by Captain Wrath, and she moves out of their way as they enter the hall. She doesn't stick around to see what happens, instead she spots her mom at the tail end of the group of guards and runs to her. The young girl throws her arms around her mother and hugs her tightly, burying her face into her mom's soft apron.
“You did such a good job, mija.” Her mother smooths out her hair and gives her a tight squeeze of a hug. “You were so brave and smart to bring the princess to me.” She reassures her daughter, rubbing calming circles into the girls back.
“I was so scared, mami.” The young girl's voice is muffled by her moms clothing. “He had a knife, and Amity couldn't speak, and he could have killed us!”
“Shoosh, it's all okay now sweetie.” The older woman hugs her daughter tightly, pushing the hair out of her face gently in comfort. ”Let's go home for the night, dear, no doubt your mother has felt this by now.” She pulls her daughter away from her and gives her a soft smile, the younger human nodding and taking her mom's hand as they head home.
Luz takes one look back, eyes immediately falling on Amity several feet away. The princess gives her a soft wave goodbye as her sister drapes a blanket over her shoulders, and Luz’s stomach twists at seeing how small the other girl looks, remembering what had just happened. What if Luz wasn’t there for Amity to run into? What would’ve happened if the man had caught her and no one was there to help? She doesn’t want to elaborate on those thoughts at all anymore.
Luz returns the wave before leaving with her mother, trying her hardest to push those lingering thoughts away.
The guards offer the two a ride home, which Camilia happily agrees to. The entire ride is silent, Luz leaning on her mother the whole way home - she watches her daughter stare blankly ahead the entire time, and tries to calm the worried tug in her chest.
When they finally roll up in front of their house Eda’s waiting on the doorstep with frustrated worry written all over her face, arms crossed and foot tapping against the ground. The carriage pulls to a stop and Camilia opens the door, motioning Eda forward to carry their daughter who had fallen asleep during the drive. Eda enters the carriage and easily scoops up their kid to carry her inside, and Camilia follows close behind. Once inside the house they immediately put their daughter into bed, both giving her a gentle kiss goodnight before making their way back downstairs, King jumping up on the bed to cuddle at the human girl’s feet.
“So.. you mind telling me what happened?” Eda breaks the silence as the two women enter their kitchen, giving her wife a stern look.
The grey haired witch moves to the stove to put on a pot of tea while her wife takes a seat at the table. Camilia slumps against the table, head in her hands as Eda moves about the kitchen, waiting patiently for her to speak.
Eventually Eda places a cup of black tea in front of her, and she lets out a shaky breath as she takes the cup, watching as the other woman takes the spot across from her. They sit in silence a little longer while Camilia blows on the tea before taking a sip.
“Someone tried to assassinate the princess.” She finally speaks up, her voice barely above a whisper.
“What.” Eda sets her cup down a little too hard, causing the cup to rattle against its plate.
“Someone tried to kill the princess.” Camilia repeats. “She managed to get away and found Luz.. of all people.”
“And the kid was only there because she was bringing you your overnight bag.” Eda blinks and looks at her wife, concern all over her face. Camilia solemnly nods her head.
“You would have been proud of her, Mi Alma.” She smiles sadly into her cup. “She was so brave and she brought the princess right to me.” She continues to tell the older witch all about the assassin and how she stopped him.
Eda listened intently as Camilia recounted the events of the last few hours for her. She sipped silently on her tea until her wife had finished completely.
“I'm proud of both of you.” Eda smiles at the potion master who had won her heart. “I wasn’t even there to kick any ass for you, but what do I know? Clearly I was the one that married up.” She takes another sip from her tea as her wife hides a growing blush.
“You certainly have a way with words,” Camilia chuckles, grasping her mug lightly between her fingers. Eda watches her ring glint in the low light of the kitchen.
“I knew you wanted me for this mouth,” Eda grins cheekily and chuckles, Camilia spares her a scandalous look and Eda laughs a little harder at that, before the laughter dies down and a more serious expression falls on her face. “I do have to admit though, when I felt that fearful tug right here..” She points to her chest, right where a heart would normally be. “I almost flew straight to the castle.” She lets out a small laugh. “But then I could feel the calm that settled afterwards and figured I shouldn’t risk going to jail… again.” This gets a strong laugh out of Camilia as Eda smiles softly at her wife.
“This soul bond between us better NOT be the reason you get caught by authorities, Edalyn.” Camilia gives the other woman a flat look, taking a long drink of her tea.
“Not the full name!” Eda whines. “You’re sounding like my sister.”
Camilia rolls her eyes at that, unable to help the smile on her face. “Come on dear, we should head to bed. I still have to go back to work tomorrow.”
“Yeah, you're right.” Eda sighs as she stands, stretching her back.
Camilia stands with her and takes their cups, placing them in the sink. The two older women head upstairs, stopping only to check on Luz and King before heading to their own room for the night.
-
The next morning the street is filled with the townspeople as Camilia tries to head into work. Eda and Luz stand next to her as they all look to a hastily made stage. On the stage stood two Emperors Knights and Captain Wrath. A low murmur broke through the crowd as two more guards started to set up a guillotine on the stage. Captain Wrath cleared his throat to get the crowd's attention, the townspeople falling silent.
“Last night an assassin made his way into the castle.” His voice echoed through the streets. “He made an attempt on the princesses life.”
The crowd erupts into a cacophony of voices, the towns people shouting over each other to have their questions answered. The captain simply holds up his hand and the townspeople fall silent.
“We do not know if he worked alone.” Captain Wrath explained. “Once we have extracted what information we can from him, he will be publicly executed.” He waited for the townsfolk to quiet down again before continuing. “His execution is scheduled tomorrow at sunrise. That is all.”
The captain is followed by his fellow Emperors Knights as they head off the stage. The crowd yells and demands more answers but receive none as the knights enter a carriage that takes them towards the castle.
“Castle security is going to be more strict now.” Camilia comments as she turns towards the building in question.
“Will I still be able to visit my friends?” Luz frowns up at her mom as they continue their walk.
“Of course you can. You’re my kid and Lilith's niece, they aren't going to keep you out.” Camilia ruffles her daughter's hair.
“As long as they dont know I'm your other mom.” Eda adds with a wink which gets a laugh out of two humans.
The three made their way to the castle, the unrest in the town more evident now than ever. The announcement of a public execution was the main topic of every conversation. There hadn't been one in over 10 years after all. The last one was when the Queen had found her husband's secret lover and had him publicly executed to make a point. Of course the King had not tried to stop her, his subjects are simply playthings to him after all.
Luz felt uneasy as she entered the castle, the amount of guards more apparent now then they had been her last visit. She wasn't sure what she could do but she was overcome with the need to talk to the princess. Maybe together they could figure things out.

Summary:  Luz hasn't shown up to school all week, which leaves her friends concerned. Brushing it off as the human needing to do errands for Eda, Amity's concern reaches its peak when Luz blows off their Azura Bookclub Meeting without any word as to why. Even stranger, Eda and Lilith refuse to tell Amity the truth about the noises she hears from outside the owl house as well as refusing to let her see Luz. Things remain in the dark until Amity is attacked by a strange creature on her way home one night. However, its eyes remind her of the human girl she loves.
____________________________________________________________
It was quiet. Nearly too quiet for Willows liking. Her gaze remained on the empty seat across from her as Gus continued to drink his apple blood without care. There was a silence between them, though it was not awkward, it was oddly peaceful. “Gus, have you seen Luz around today?” Willow asked, a hint of worry clearly laced in her voice. Gus stopped, his eyes shifting to the spot where Luz usually sat. The young witch thought for a moment. Luz had not been in his illusions class that morning, which he found a bit odd. However, his mind had been more focused on writing up an essay for the Human Appreciation Society, discussing a few new things that Luz had told him about the human realm. “I haven’t, but I wouldn’t think too hard on it. Maybe she’s out with the owl lady?” Gus tried his best to calm his friends' worries. They usually talked every morning before school; however, Luz had never picked up.
Willow gave a curt nod of understanding, before going back to the lunch on her tray. As soon as the sound of shuffling reached her eyes, Willow's eyes shot up, expecting to see the smiling Latina. However, they met with a pair of concerned yellow eyes. “Have either of you seen Luz today?” Amity asked her gaze drifting to the empty spot next to her. Willow seemed to tense just a bit, however, remembered Gus’s words. “She didn’t answer her crystal ball this morning, but she’s probably off somewhere helping Eda and Lilith. Also, she does stay with her mother on the weekends, so there’s a chance they’re just spending the day together.” Willow listed the different possibilities. Amity’s ears appeared to droop just a bit, which did not go unnoticed by the plant witch. “Hey, don’t think too much about you. I’m sure she’ll be back tomorrow!” Willow tried her best to raise the spirits of the youngest Blight, Titan knows she needed some joy in her life.
Amity’s eyes continue to remain on the spot where Luz usually sat. Finally, she sighed, giving Willow a reassuring smile. “You’re right, she’s probably just needing a day to herself,” Amity admitted. The group had been through so much within the past two years. With the takedown of Belos, there was still danger lurking in the shadows due to the escape of Kikimora. Due to this, Amity no longer needed to focus on joining the emperors' coven at the time, with Lilith having taken over and currently working to rebuild it and shape it into a proper coven that could do good. Amity now spent most of her days studying, hanging out with her new group of friends, and spending time alone with Luz that the group and her siblings did not need to know about.
School went on normally with only a few incidents. Someone had accidentally created a rather large plant beast that tried to consume students. Another tried creating an illusion of themself that ended up running around the school, spray painting everything in its path. And finally, the school had to evacuate due to a student in potions not paying attention, thus the smoke from their cauldron had caused the fire alarm to go off. The trio met outside, slightly damp due to the water. Willow was busy ringing out the little bit of water from her uniform, meanwhile, Gus created the illusion of a fan to help dry off the notes he had been taken in one of his classes. Amity stood beside him, opening one of her abomination textbooks to try and dry as well. Once everything was situated, and the smoke cleared, everyone returned to their classes to finish off the day. In the end, the group once again met up outside. “Should we just wait to give Luz her schoolwork tomorrow when she comes back?” Gus asked as he stared at the papers in his hands that his teacher had given to him earlier. Willow and Amity shared a look, almost as if they were having a silent conversation with each other. “I think we should wait until tomorrow. That way we can help her if she has any questions.” The plant witch insisted. “I think I’ll copy my notes for Luz tonight, that way she isn’t too lost,” Amity claimed as she thought about the girl, she had a crush on. Willow's eyes shifted towards Amity, who was busy staring at the ground. She bit the inside of her cheek to prevent herself from smiling as Amity’s cheeks turned a light pink.
“I think she’d like that.” Willow agreed.
The next day, Luz did not meet with the trio at the front of the school. Nor did she ever show up to lunch or any of her classes.
The day after, Luz remained absent, something that was beginning to worry the group. She had not been picking up when they called the owl house’s crystal ball, nor had been seen by any of the local vendors.
“Maybe something finally ate her,” Boscha had commented one day as she listened in on the group’s conversation during class change. Both Willow and Amity shot a look towards the three-eyed girl. She currently wore her grudgby jacket, due to the season starting the upcoming weekend, and tossed a ball in her hand. “Or maybe she’s just tired of hanging out with losers, though, she’s quite the loser herself.” The girl commented with a giggle. Willow took a deep breath to calm herself. “Luz is fine, she’s just out due to personal reasons.” Willow lied. Boscha stopped tossing the ball as she scoffed. She was about to open her mouth once again until Skara roughly grabbed her arm. “Boscha, you’re supposed to be at practice! We’ve been wondering where you’ve been!” She stated, tugging at her friend's jacket. Her eyes lit up at the sight of Amity.
“Amity!” She called excitedly, taking a step forward wanting to talk to the green-haired witch, however she was roughly tugged back. “We don’t have time for talking Skara! We need to practice!” Boscha barked as she pulled her friend away. “But you got to talk to Amity!” They heard Skara whine as Boscha led her down the hall and out the school. Amity’s expression became somber. Skara was not as bad as Boscha and honestly, she would be lying if she said she didn’t miss her. Gus took note of this. “Hey, I’m sure Luz is alright like Willow said! You two have your Azura Book Club meeting tonight, right? I’m sure she’ll be there!” Gus tried his best to reassure the youngest Blight. Amity thought it over. She couldn’t say she’d be exactly happy that Luz decided to miss school but attend their book club meeting; however, the thought that Luz missing school but still wanting to see her made her heart flutter a bit. “Yeah, I’m sure she’ll be there.” She agreed, holding her books closer to her chest as if the gesture helped slow down her beating heart.
Amity waited from six till a quarter to the witching hour in her hideout at the library.
Luz never showed.
Her pillow was soaked with tears when she woke up. Her siblings had suspected Amity to be out at a sleepover but were surprised to hear the front door open from the living room where they were busy watching a horror movie. Eric had nearly screamed, but Emira was quickly able to cover his mouth before he woke their parents up. The twins slowly peaked over the couch, surprised to see their sister slowly closing the door closed. “Mittens?” Emira gently called out, watching her sister tense. Both their eyes widened in concern as they took in their sisters tear-stained face. She sniffled weakly, eyes starring at the floor instead of her siblings. “Amity, is everything alright?” Edric asked, standing from the couch and ready to rush to his younger sister to see if she was hurt. Amity’s bottom lip trembled as more tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over. “Amity!” The twins tried to keep their voices low as their sister ran from their view and up the stairs towards her room.
They remained in the living room with the movie paused, giving their sister some time to herself, hoping she would come down and speak with them when she felt better.
Amity never returned to her siblings.
Amity cringed at the feeling of the dried tears against her face. She felt gross and wanted a shower more than anything at the moment. Well, she actually wanted to rush to the owl house to see if Luz was alright, but that would have to wait. Amity crawled out of bed nearly jumped at the sound of knocking echoing throughout the manor. Somebody was at the door. Amity glanced at the clock on her wall and then out her window. It was nearly seven in the morning and the sun was just beginning to rise. The knocking continued and from the sounds of it, the person was clearly not happy. Amity grabbed a change of clothes, preparing to take a shower, before walking out of her room. “I know it had to be those twins!” Whoever was at the door barking.
Curious about the topic of her siblings, and what they could have done to make someone so angry, Amity turns away from the direction of the bathroom to instead stand at the top of the staircase. One of the maids starred unamused at the man in front of her. Amity took note of his attire, chalking him up to be one of the farmers that lived a few miles away in the more rural area of the boiling isles. “Excuse me sir, but I don’t really see how you can believe the Blight twins to be the cause of such-” The maid seemed to be mulling over a variety of negative words in her head “-Misfortune.” She went with. The man huffed, rage clear on his face. “Because they’ve done this before!” He yelled, clearly irritated that he was not believed.
“My fence door was torn apart and some of my screech sheep gone!” The man growled. Amity could tell the maid was holding back an eye roll at the man’s accusation. “Well some may be missing; however, you still have the rest.” The maid claimed, ready to shut the door; however, the man was quick to press his hand against it. The woman’s eyes shifted towards his calloused, the twitch of her brown signaling she was becoming more irritated by the second. “There is nothing left.” The man hissed. Amity tensed slightly. It wouldn’t have been the first time a farmer had beat down their door due to her siblings, but something seemed off. When she came home the twins had been in their pajamas, clearly too lazy and not planning to go out and terrorize people with their usual shenanigans.
The man made no move to step inside the manor; however, he clearly didn’t plan on just leaving either. “And what, if I may ask, are you wanting exactly? Because I shall tell you now, the Blights will now be paying for your losses due to a claim without proof.” The maid stated rather harshly. The man sucked his teeth, ears twitching in clear irritated. His mouth opened and closed before he simply took his hand off the door and turned to walk away. The maid puffed out her chest in a bit of pride, though her eyes narrowed when the man stopped. “I know it was those damn Blight twins! And I’m going to catch them next time!” The man barked as he stomped down the old pathway.
Amity processed the conversation. Her siblings had scared local sheep stiff, laughing as they would fall over, however she could not wrap her head around the twins breaking into something physically to cause chaos. No, that was simply too much work for them. If they can’t use magic to get where they want, they’ll go find something else to entertain them. “Ms. Blight.” The voice of the maid pulled Amity away. Her eyes met with disinterested pair of green ones. “You may wish to change before breakfast. Your parents will be joining you, and I doubt they’d be very thrilled to see you in your school attire on a weekend.” The maid hissed. Amity tensed. No doubt about it her parents would be up soon, so she had to hurry. Quickly, Amity rushed to the bathroom. She undressed of her school uniform and tried to make her shower as quickly as possible, aiming to get changed and downstairs before her parents woke.
When she was done Amity wrapped her bathrobe around her, exiting the bathroom as soon as she finished everything she needed to do. She stepped out, ready to head straight to her room, instead of the waiting hands of her mother. Odalia gently cupped Amity’s face. “Sleep well?” She asked as a small smile graced her features. “Yes, mother,” Amity replied automatically. Odalia hummed lowly, her thumbs gently rubbing against Amity’s pale cheeks. “That’s good. I could have sworn I heard you crying at some point in the night,” Her mother stated which nearly made Amity’s body tense. “Oh darling,” She cooed, bringing Amity into an embrace. “Did you and Boscha have a disagreement? I haven’t seen her or Skara around in quite some time.” Odalia claimed. Amity gave a small nod, refusing to open her mouth in fear of her voice betraying how nervous she felt. Odalia hummed lowly, her nails finding purchase in Amity’s hair.
Usually, such an action would cause people to feel comforted and safe. Amity felt like she could throw up. Odalias nails raked against Amity’s scalp, her fingers stopping to place a strand of green between her fingers. “Such a beautiful shade. It really brings out the brightness of your eyes. The paleness of your skin. It’s absolutely beautiful.” She hummed, gently rubbing the wet strands between her fingers. Her hand once against found its way into Amity’s hair. This time she felt a rather harsh scrape against her roots. It made her wince. “Such a nasty shade. Very distasteful to the eye. Don’t you hate it Amity? This disgusting shade of brown takes away from such a lovely shade of green.” Her mother claimed, fingers pulling at her roots as if she were pulling weeds from a garden. What a silly comparison, as if Odalia had to do a hard day’s work in her life, let alone get dirty in a garden.
“I hate it, mother.” Amity lied.
Odalia hummed lowly in joy. She didn’t need to look up to know that her mother's smile had grown. “That makes me so happy to hear. I’m actually going into town after breakfast to have my hair done for a party your father and I must attend tonight. You’ll join me.” She stated, pulling away from Amity. Odalia’s hands once again cupped her face, giving her no choice but to stare up at her mother. “Be a good girl and wear something nice.” Odalia stated with one more look over of Amity “Don’t embarrass me.” Her eyes read before releasing her daughter's face to head downstair. Amity felt as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She was quick to rush back to her room, changing into something she felt would be flattering to her mother’s taste, which meant an outfit that her mother had gifted her recently.
It took Amity a moment to find something reasonable, due to her usually stuffing all her clothes given to her by her parents to the back of her closet. Usually what she wore were outfits she bought while out with Willow and Luz, some even coming from shopping trips with her siblings. Once she was changed, she used a spell to dry her hair and pulled it up into its usual half pull back state. She packed a bag, making sure to put in the notes and the homework Willow and Gus gave her yesterday since she had been expecting to see Luz that night. She halted at the thought. Amity sniffled at the memory. Was Boscha right? Was Luz tired of hanging out with them? Had she done something that had upset Luz? Amity shook her head free of the thoughts. If Luz had a problem, she’d come to them to speak about it, she wouldn’t just cut them off. Quickly, Amity made her way downstairs, making sure to drop off the bag by the door to grab when she and her mother left. Breakfast was quiet and uneventful, the twins mostly conversing amongst themselves and answering any questions their mother had.
Due to the takedown of Belos, Odalia had enlightened her family about her “concerns” of the Emperor's Coven. She had made it clear she didn’t feel comfortable with her children joining now that such a corrupt person had taken over. They were not allowed to join until a more suitable person was placed as head of the coven. On their way out, Amity grabbed the bag and slipped it over her shoulder. A carriage waited for them outside, which Odalia insisted her daughter enter first. Once they were comfortable the carriage began its journey to the marketplace. “Schoolwork darling?” Odalia asked, having taken notice of her daughter's bag. “Actually, a student in my abominations course was out sick this week, so I offered to bring them their schoolwork.” Amity partially lied. It felt as if her mother was starring through her, subtle smile still on her face as she checked her daughter for any hints of a lie.
“Such a good girl.” Was all that she said before turning her attention to the window. The conversation ended just like that, and the rest of the journey was silent. At the hair salon, Amity was quickly rushed into a chair by her usual stylist who scolded her for allowing her roots to grow out so much. She listened to her mother chuckle as she was placed in her own chair, the stylist being quick to let Odalia’s hair out of its usual updo. “I told her, brown just isn’t her color.” Her mother stated, relaxing in her chair as the stylist began to work. Amity felt embarrassed as the adults talked about her as if she wasn’t there.
Amity stayed out of the conversation, only speaking when spoken to. The sooner this ended, the quicker she could get to the owl house to see Luz and make sure she was okay. To hold her in a tight embrace and run her fingers through her hair. Amity’s face began to burn at the memories. At the times they were supposed to be having a book club meeting, but instead leaned against each other and took a nap, their arms wrapped around each other. The times they would be out to see a movie with Willow and Gus who didn’t realize that the two girls were secretly holding hands under the armrest between them. Jeez, she really missed her. “- And grudgby season has once again started! My husband and I went to the game last night and my oh my, how things have changed since your daughter left Mrs. Blight.” The man behind Amity laughed.
“All negative I hope.” Odalia chuckle, which caused the rest of the salon employees to give a laugh. They could think her mother was joking, but behind that innocent smile, Amity knew her mother meant what she said. “Your daughter was such a star player, it’s sad that she decided to quit.” He spoke as if he wasn’t talking about the girl who sat in his chair. “Oh, I know. Her father and I were so upset to hear that she quit due to a little mishap with her team. Luckily, she’s feeling better and Amity plans to rejoin the team again next year.” Odalia stated proudly. Amity tensed, her eyes widening. They had never spoken about this. She had no plans on returning to the grudgby team. “Oh, how wonderful! It’ll be so wonderful to see you on the field once again Ms. Blight!” Her stylist stated excitedly as he finished adding the last bit of dye to her hair. “Yeah, me too.” Amity gave a fake smile and even through in a giggle for effect.
“Is she wanting to be grudgby captain again?” An older woman who was having her hair washed asked, joining in on the conversation. Amity could feel her mother's gaze, as the older woman stared at the back of her daughter's head from her mirror. “You bet she does,” Odelia stated happily, which earned a few mumbled of joy from the other clients. Though Boscha had brought Hexside to victory on many occasions, everyone knew that the only way she even became captain was due to Amity leaving. “Oh, how exciting! We can’t wait to see you on the field once again!” A man who was having his hair dyed as well claimed excitedly. Amity chuckled, becoming more embarrassed as attention was drawn to her.
“Me too.” Amity lied once again.
________________________________________________________________
Amity waved goodbye to her mother as she once again entered the carriage, hair more elegant and ready to be seen. Her mother had originally offered to drop her off at the so-called classmate's house, but Amity insisted she walk to prevent her mother from being late. Her mother looked as if she wanted to continue with her daughter, though held back as soon as Amity mentioned the party her mother needed to attend. Before entering her mother had gently brushed some strands of green hair out of Amity’s face with a simple “Beautiful once again.” Slipping past her lips before disappearing into the carriage. She waited till the carriage was out of her sight before turning and heading towards the owl house.
Her concern only grew as a few merchants who recognized her, stopped her to ask where Luz had been. She usually delivered potions to people around the area, however, hadn’t been seen all week. Eda and sometimes Lilith would be spotted instead, selling potions to customers both new and old. Amity began to feel more anxious each time she was stopped and asked about the human girl. By the time she reached the edge of the woods Amity’s pace quickened. As soon as the owl house came into view, she began to slow down. Oddly, King was outside. There were scattered band-aid wrappers drifting away from him and past Amity. Some even floating towards the ocean. She shuddered at the breeze, a reminder that the days were becoming chillier, and that she had forgotten her coat at home. King appeared too busy to realize Amity was walking upon him. Hooty had fresh scratches on him, which King placed band-aids over. “You know she didn’t mean it, something just uh, different for now.” King tried to reassure the cowering owl door. The sound of crashing caught Amity’s attention as well as Kings. They both looked up towards the second floor where rattling could be heard. “Is everything alright?” Amity finally spoke up, causing King to jump and Hooty to hiss in surprise. “Danger! More danger!” The owl cried, still not forgetting when Amity had released her furry upon the door two years ago. Honestly, she thought things had gotten better between them, thus something must have happened to cause the door to be so shaken. “Uh, yeah, what brings you here?” King asked, turning his full attention to Amity. “I came to drop off Luz’s homework since she never came to school all week,” Amity claimed, shifting her backpack off her shoulders.
“Welp, thanks for that uh, greenie? I can give that to Luz!” He stated, jumping up to grab the bag from Amity, who quickly held it out of his reach. King glared at her. “What’s the big idea!” He barked, continuing to jump as if he would somehow jump high enough to reach that bag. “Can I please see Luz?” Amity tried her best to keep her temper under wraps. King finally stopped jumping, a long “Um” escaping him and causing a brow to rise in curiosity on Amity’s face. “King, who are you talking to?” Eda’s voice caught both their attention as she threw the door open. She looked tired and her hair disheveled. Her eyes widened. “Oh, it’s you.” She stated rather tiredly. Did these people just forget her name or something? “Edalyn who’s at the door?” Lilith asked from the couch, leaning over the side just a bit to see past her sister. Her eyes widened. “Amity? What brings you here?” She asked, placing some documents on a small table that had been move beside the couch over the past two years.
Amity’s eyes couldn’t help but follow the papers her old mentor had placed down. More so what caught her attention was that by the way she had placed them signaled she had the papers upside down when she was originally holding them. Odd. “I’m here to see Luz. She wasn’t at school all week, so I brought her homework and was going to see if she needed any help.” Amity stated while opening the bag and pulling out the homework. Eda and Lilith exchanged a look. “We can give that to Luz for your Amity,” Lilith claimed as she stood from the couch. Amity was quick to notice the woman nudge what appeared to be a book further under the piece of furniture. Something was off. “May I ask why I can’t see her? Is she sick?” Worry was clear in Amity’s voice as she asked. “Yep, got a bad human sickness or something. I blame it on this one here’s cooking.” Eda tried to joke and even nudged her older sister who simply glared at her.
“The human is just feeling a little under the weather. However, she may not be-” Lilith was cut off at the sound of a loud banging coming from upstairs. Everyone looked up to stare at the ceiling for a moment before the rustling calmed down, though it was clear someone was walking above them. “Yeah, she sounds very bedridden,” Amity stated with a bit of venom laced behind her words. Eda glared at the girl, though Lilith placed a hand on her shoulder. A warning as to hold her tongue. Eda sighed, “Listen, kid, Luz isn’t doing so hot right now-” another loud bang echoed throughout the house “And she probably won’t be for a while.” The witch claimed. Amity shifted her gaze away from the witches to stare in between them. From what she could see the house was a wreck. The couch had claw marks, there were torn and tattered books and pieces of fabric that littered the floor as well. Her eyes narrowed, was that a large hole in the window behind the table? “Did someone try to break in?” Amity once again questioned. The sisters shared a look once more, a motion that was steadily beginning to irritate Amity.
The sounds continued to pick up whenever everything went quiet, however, Amity was noticing that when she spoke, the sounds would stop for a while. As if on cue, the sounds of scratching at wood interrupted the sisters. “So, what exactly do you have up there with Luz?” The teen asked with a raised brow. Once again, the sounds stopped, causing the sisters to exchange a look. “Nothing of importance. Just an old house, don’t you know they creak and moan?” Lilith claimed, shifting closer to Eda to block Amity’s view of the house further. As soon as she finished speaking, the sounds picked up, the clawing seeming to intensify. “Yeah, you’ve been here plenty of times! You know the sounds this house can make.” Eda chuckled, which earned her a rather sour look from Lilith. Amity mulled the words she wished to use next over in her head.
What caught her attention though was the sound of a rather loud sniffing? It was clear whatever creature was above them was trying to figure out something or had the scent of something it was trying to get to. Once it stopped sniffing the scratching began once again. “I think you should go,” Eda claimed, reaching for the bookbag that Amity held in her hands. Before Amity could register what had just happened, the white-haired witch slammed the door in her face. Amity stared wide eyes as she came face to face with a concerned and battered Hooty. She listened as Lilith scolded Eda for her rude behavior, though their voices began to drown out as they took their arguing further into the house. Hooty took in Amity’s upset expression. “There there, it’s okay!” Hooty stated, wrapping its body around Amity once. She wanted nothing more than to shove the bird tube away, but at the same time, she was trying to wrap her head around what just happened.
“Luz isn’t feeling too well, and it’s not really good for her to be out and about, hoot!” Hooty claimed, its eyes shifting to the side of the house where Luz's bedroom was located. “Is-,” Amity’s voice got caught in her throat. She basically knew nothing about the diseases and sicknesses humans caught. “Is she going to make it?” Amity asked with clear concern of what the answer would be. Hooty’s eyes widened, its normal smile once again appearing. “Of course! Luz is going to be fine once Eda and Lilith sort everything out, hoot!” Hooty stated with such confidence Amity couldn’t help but feel a bit better. “Really?” She asked, happy that she was getting a bit of information out of the house at least. “Yep! Eda’s been dealing with the same thing for years! Hoot!” Hooty nuzzled its face against Amity’s who just seemed lost and confused at his statement.
“Welp, you don’t worry too hard about it! I’m sure you’ll see Luz soon when everything is better!” The owl pulled away from Amity as it spoke, once again appearing as just a face in the door. Amity remained standing; the ruckus upstairs having faded away as background noise by now. She was tempted to continue questioning the bird tube, however, quickly concluded that it would not be much help. It was currently trying to reach a spider that was crawling down its web with the weak attempt of grabbing it with its tongue. Amity slowly backed away, deciding it would be best to return home. She had spent a good bit of her day with her mother, much to her displeasure, though felt it would be best to return home before her parents made it back from their party. Plus, the wind was beginning to pick up as well as the chill in the air.
She spared the house one last glance, even moving closer to the cliff to see if she could peer up at Luz’s window. Oddly, it was boarded up, only adding to Amity’s concern. Taking a deep breath, Amity was quick to turn around and head back home. She was sure once everything was said and done with, Luz would explain herself. Amity had to admit to herself that she felt relieved that Luz wasn’t avoiding her on purpose nor their group of friends. She continued down the normal path, though turned onto a new one that she had found which was a quicker way to her home. She hummed at the memories of all the times she had taken it as she slipped away from the owl house to go home. Her mind was occupied to the point she didn’t realize how late it had gotten and how close she was to getting home. The old money houses that littered her neighborhood came into view.
Most of the houses were lit up due to the darkness that had begun to cover Bonesborough, which brought a sense of relief upon Amity that she was nearly home. Her parents wouldn’t be back till later that night, which meant she could do as she pleased. Getting a warm cup of boiling chocolate sounded delightful, something to bite the chill in the air. Maybe she could even convince the twins not to bother her and instead allow her to watch a movie with them. The ideas of what she could do when she got home began to run through her mind. It was so rare for her to feel like she could be herself at home.
Little did she know that a creature lurked close behind, its snout pressed to the ground as it sniffed furiously. The creature had been tracking her, for quite some time. Its speed picked up as Amity’s scent got stronger. The green-haired witch never ever realized what was coming. The only time she registered anything is when the sound of breaking sticks and running caught her attention and she was shoved off the path by a large body and into the darkening woods on the other side.

Mouth wide, both Ethan and Grayson stared ahead at the beautiful woman before them who had her fists clenched as well as her jaw, her eyes virtual daggers for their souls as she came closer. Slamming the door close behind her with her elbow, she stood before them with a fire brewing inside her veins, the fumes almost visible as her nostrils flare.
"I, uh...burned down the Kappa house." Ethan admits with a small stutter, feeling dread take over inside his heart. Never had he been so afraid since the day his father cast him out of Mount Olympus. Never had he cared so much what will happen as he did now. No mortal made him pray to the old gods or new as she just did and it's not because he's afraid of her...but her reaction. He's terrified she'll hate him for what he did and that this will cause him to lose her forever.
"Please say something." Noticing the pause she imposed, the silence that gnawed on him and crawled through his skin, Ethan sighed deeply.
"Have I lost you? Please, tell me. I can't bear the silence."
But then her face washed out all emotion, turning impassive for a moment as her mind turned into a hurricane.
Y/N found herself back inside her head, inside the dreaded dreams she has, but this time she was awake. She was fully awake and yet trapped in the hectic mood she couldn't control.
Instead of the darkness, she found herself at the ledge of a building, the choice to jump imposed by the lack of solid ground around her. The building only had this one edge, high up in the sky where no one could hear her. No one could save her.
"Hecate?" She calls out, knowing this is her work. And like magic, she finds she's no longer alone.
"This your way of helping?" She turned to her left, toward the goddess who appeared out of thin air.
Hecate chose a body tight black dress, no more purple lace. Her paleness clearer in broad daylight, make up smeared slightly around her green eyes. Her hair half pulled up in a curly mess at the back of her head, but her lips curled to the side as they always seem to be.
"When I'm in control, you're safer. So, yes. It is." She smirked, walking closer on the ledge like the danger of falling to her death somehow doesn't apply to her.
"Look, whatever your message of today is...I have a pressing matter to attend to and I'd like my body back." Y/N snapped back, ignoring the smile growing on Hecate's face.
"I know. But I'd like a word in first."
Furrowing her eyebrows, Y/N turns to Hecate. "Why would you want a word with Ethan? What are they to you?"
Breathless, Y/N finds herself struggling to balance. One misstep and she's dead. She had to be careful and play this game better. She had to be smarter.
"Finally catching up, are we? Maybe you should ask your precious Dolan twins about me? Or start a little easier? Ask for their age. Their family." She emphasizes.
Before she has a chance to question her, Hecate disappeared, leaving Y/N alone on the ledge.
"Hello boys." Hecate smirked, finding herself face to face with her lying, cheating consort and his brother, the partner in crime.
"Hecate." Apollo groans, turning around in frustration while Hermes remains rooted in his place, staring at her.
"I thought I told you to leave her alone." Hermes speaks through gritted teeth, not moving an inch as Hecate nears him, placing her palms on his chest and runs it up and down his body slowly like it's her playground, her possession.
"I'm in mood for raising hell. It gets boring back home." Her smug smile widened, her lips coming closer to Hermes' shamelessly.
Unable to handle her hands on him any longer, the touch making him physically ill, Hermes gripped her wrists and pushed her away, watching her smile turn into a wicked grin.
"I thought you liked this body. You didn't mind touching everything she offered you just a little while ago. In fact, had you persisted, you'd know how her insides feel like quivering around your cock." She blew the lid off of Apollo's patience who turned around in his rage and grabbed her by the throat. He backed her up into the wall so quickly,   slamming her into it, ignoring her cackling.
"You can't hurt me, fool! Anything you do to me, you do to your precious Y/N." She sneered, reminding him to behave and as her words reach him through the mist of his hate, his grip relents and his arms fall to his sides.
But as Hecate is about to speak, she finds herself choking, losing breath as she desperately claws at her throat that's now void of Apollo's hands.
"What is happening?" Both gods fall to their knees, beside their love who has been overtaken. Hermes pulls at his hair as Apollo cups her face to look into her eyes, finding a body but no soul in them.
"I think...Y/N is fighting back." Apollo mumbles in his confusion, his eyes flickering to his brother who is at his wits end
"That was rude." Hecate snickers, pushing back her hair as she found herself back on the ledge, Y/N rather comfortably grabbing at her throat. She used the chance once the goddess appeared, hoping to put a stop to her control. She didn't even hesitate.
Snapping her fingers, Hecate immobilized Y/N, simply stepping out of her strangling attempt.
"Have you ever heard of my lying, cheating husband? Consort Hermes?" Hecate begins, wanting to tell her story to someone at least. She's been silenced for far too long and her own lineage had no clue what she's been through. She found it to be the perfect time to speak out on her reasons for the hostile takeover. None of her legacies found Hermes before and she has to take advantage of the situation at hand.
"I was the daughter of two titans and yet they refused to give me a seat on Mount Olympus. They called me a witch. A necromancer." She sneaked closer, her heels clicked against the cemented ground.
"But then I heard Persephone scream. I helped them realize she's been taken...and by who. Hades, the old loner." Snorting, she smiles, allowing Y/N to take control of her body enough to relax her arms and breathe as she continued on.
"They wanted to award me with a title. They would call me a goddess, but it came with strings attached...only if I married Hermes. They hoped it would make him settle down and let up on torturing mortals. That somehow I would be what breaks up the famous Apollo ~ Hermes duo. I wasn't." Hecate narrowed her eyes ever so slightly, turning so she could gaze down the fall guaranteed should one step off the ledge.
"I didn't even love him at first. He was way too arrogant and willful. If I were forced to wed, I'd have thought Apollo or Artemis would be given to me as reward, but they gave me a ferryman - Hades' worker bee...a mailman. He had no respect for mortals, nor my craft. But he was ethereal, even for a god. So damn beautiful and charming and I fell for the act." Y/N frowned, realizing the description sounds way too familiar for she has someone particular in mind. But the pain Hecate holds is familiar too, with a difference as to who she lost.
"I thought he loved me, that he'd change. I mean, he could hardly keep his hands off me." Hecate trails off, her lips setting in a thin line.
"Turns out he could hardly keep his hands from any female that would have him. And then he got himself banished to Earth and I married again, forced once more to take some fool as my consort. At least this fool loves me and allows my bloodline to grow." Sighing, Hecate waves her hand and with the flick of a wrist, Y/N got a chance to move again.
"I'm going crazy, aren't I?" Y/N felt a shiver run down her spine, realizing this hallucination feels far too real to ignore. Many people lose a piece of their sanity after a great loss, but she didn't think the effect would show years later.
"No. I'm just opening your horizons." But before Hecate finished, Y/N threw herself at the goddess, tumbling them both over the ledge and into the unknown abyss as her view blurred. A great outburst of power came with Hecate's raging scream, the fall imminent.
Breathing in a sharp, deep breath, Y/N refocused her blury vision only to find Grayson before her, his hands on her face.
"You're back." He breathes out, relieved as a smile breaks on his lips. Hermes raises his head fast, lips parted as he looks over the girl whose eyes watered and her lips quivered. She nodded, wondering what they must have seen and if they think she's completely mad as she does.
But before she has a chance to speak, they're interrupted by a woman in her early forties who seems to be shaken as much as they are.
"Y/N?"
She stands up, feeling her chest tighten at the sight, unsure if this is the final straw and she had finally lost her mind.
"Mom?"

What exactly do you mean by that, Section Commander?" Jean was scratching his temple in confusion at Hange's order.
"You love Ackerman, am I wrong?"
The color of Jean's face could suddenly be compared to the color of the tomato he was currently slicing, "W-what?! No! I just,... like her,..."
The thoughtful scientist knew that he was lying. "That's close enough. Anyway, I do trust that you could watch over her at all times, yes?"
"That's too much, Section Commander, I - "
"Come on, just say it already, Kirschtein!" Hange was losing her patience and was aware that she was harassing the boy for a reason he could never find out. "Will you do it, or will you not?"
"Okay! Okay! Sheesh,..." Jean sliced the juicy tomato in half and threw it on a bowl. He was getting quite used to kitchen duty by now. "I'll watch over her."
"At all times."
"At all times, yes."
"And tell you as soon as possible if something weird happens."
"Yes, that's it." Hange patted the boy's shoulder and smiled at him. "I know I could count on you."
"Thanks." Jean grabbed another tomato from the sack to assault with. "May I ask why you didn't pick Eren for the job?"
Because he easily gets swayed by his own emotions, he could possibly endanger Mikasa's life even further should the same thing occur to her, is what Hange wanted to say. But, she couldn't. "If I have to choose between you two in terms of being,... ah,... rational,... then I go with you, outright. You know how to properly assess different situations and make reasonable decisions, Kirschtein. At least, that's what I think."
Jean smiled. "You are actually one of the two people who said that to me."
"Really? Who is the other one?"
"Is? More like was,..."
Jean suddenly went silent as he continued chopping tomatoes. Hange noticed this and immediately realized what he was trying to say. She patted the boy on the shoulder once more and turned to leave. "I'm counting on you, Kirschtein."

A direct order from Commander Erwin Smith himself was issued that morning over lunch at the mess hall, forbidding ANY Cadet / Cadette ranks to go outside the Headquarters without written permission from the Chief, himself. It was implemented so that the Scouts could properly train for the upcoming Expedition, which was in roughly four weeks. The only people who are allowed to go out are the Scouting Legion helpers ( such as the cooks ) and the Squad Leaders, themselves. They would only be allowed to go out the day before the Expedition, to go to their families and such. Plus, no other person, Scout or officer alike, is allowed out of the premises after the hour of eight in the evening.
Of course, the youngsters were infuriated at this. It was like caging them, having their precious freedom taken away from them. But, the Commander insisted that it was so that they could be well - prepared for the Expedition. The recruits could not do anything but grumble and obey the order, for who could argue with the Commander, really?
The others may know that the reason for the sudden change is the Expedition. (F/N) thinks, otherwise. She's aware that the Commander just doesn't want any of his Soldiers to be involved with the Executioners. Her Squad Leader even made sure that her friend Mikasa, who's also an Ackerman, is to be guarded, at all times.
Guarded?
(F/N) slightly looked at her left side without actually turning her head and saw Levi eating his lunch just beside her. In the officer's table. She was well aware that the Squad Leaders were weirded out with her sudden intrusion to their private space. (F/N) groaned inwardly and glanced at the Scouts' table. She briefly saw her friends whispering to each other, and when they realized that she was looking at them, Armin nudged Eren with an elbow and gestured for them to stop and go back to their lunch. After that, she noticed that the girls from her Trainee Corps batch, who were seated six tables away from them, were looking very maliciously at her and whispering shamelessly to each other. Just like the old times,...
"Oi, you gonna start eating, or what?" Levi whispered to her.
"I'm sorry, Captain." (F/N) answered and grabbed her forgotten spoon on the table.
"Tch. Pathetic." the Captain mumbled. "You are my personal assistant now. Quit zoning out and focus on your goddamn self."
"Yes, Captain."
"Tch,..."
Hange was quietly observing them from her seat. She said once that these two would look nice together, and she was sincere on those words, actually. She just never thought that the relationship between these two would be the opposite. In a way, she knew that she was the one who caused this predicament on (F/N)'s quiet life. If she had not decided to raid the rooms that day and made her wear that freaking dress ( which she now despised as much as she like Petra ), then this would not occur. But, then, who could say that the Captain could even like her a bit? She had to admit that (F/N) looked quite plain, and most of the girls outshone her. She was aware that she could never stand a chance against them. And now, the midget not only hates her, he wants her out of the Legion, too.
She took a sip of her coffee and contemplated the situation. They could never reverse their mistake, but at least they could keep her alive within the Headquarters, Shadis' plans or no.
The rest,... is up to (F/N), herself.
Hange believes in her.
He will destroy her! Hange remembered Shadis' words once more and shook her head.
She is strong, and she could still be what the former Scouting Legion Commander intends for her to be.
Levi finished his meal, stood up from his chair and quietly left the mess hall. (F/N) looked up at him, waiting for his orders. He gave none. She desperately looked at Hange for help. The scientist smiled. She took out a piece of paper from her pocket and gave it to the girl.
"Go." Hange mouthed.
(F/N) quickly stood up and followed the Captain. When she finally caught up with him, he only made his steps faster.
"Tch. You're fucking slow, shithead." he said to her.
How I wished the serum drained his nasty mouth instead! "I'm sorry,..."
"Tch! You've said that like a hundred times. Stop being pathetic just for once, for crying out loud."
"Yes, Captain,..."
They turned around the corner and arrived at Levi's office a few minutes later. He opened the door, (F/N) barely making it inside as he began shutting it close. He almost slammed it shut and went to his desk. He collapsed ( collapsed, for the five minute walk to his office actually drained half of his energy )on his chair and regarded the girl with a very cold look.
The girl was still standing in the middle of the room when he began appraising her from head to foot. What is it, now?
"Since we're gonna stick together for four weeks, less, I hope,... we - no - I,... need to make some things clear between the two of us."
The girl waited for Levi nervously.
"First things first." he said. "You are now, and may I repeat, my personal assistant. I do hope that you do not consider it as something more. You are trash, a witch. You should know your place."
I must not cry, I must not cry,... "Yes, Captain."
"Stop acting pathetic around me. It's making me even more sick."
"Yes, sir,..."
"You must be here at exactly eight in the morning. Tardiness will be considered punishable. You won't like it when you go tardy on me." he threatened.
"I understand, Captain Levi - "
"And stop saying my name in front of me! God! I despise it when you say it. You shall refer to me only as Captain, or Sir. Are we clear?"
(F/N)'s throat suddenly became thicker. "Yes, sir,..."
Levi nodded. He slowly stood up and went to her. And when he was just a foot away from her, she could smell his strangely attractive scent. She tried not to be distracted and stayed focused. He sniffed her and his nose suddenly wrinkled in disgust.
The girl was deeply offended.
"Everything about you is filthy." he sneered. "I detest filth. Make sure to thoroughly clean yourself before going here in this room. Your smell might linger here."
I just took a shower. I don't smell bad,... "Yes, Captain."
(F/N) was sure she was going to faint from the Captain's bombardment of insults, but she had to stand firm. She promised herself that she would prove the man wrong about her. And she is damn well aware that she doesn't smell.
God, what is his problem with me?
And the insults were far from over. "You made a mess of yourself in training the other day. If you are to guard me, then you must be at least as strong as Nanaba. We're both pathetically weak, as it is. I don't want the two of us to be eating our own shit, don't forget that."
(F/N) couldn't trust her voice and just nodded.
"You also write like a stupid brat. I don't want you to do the same thing again on my documents, you hear that? I want precision. You are nowhere near close."
The girl nodded again.
"If I told you to fetch me something to drink, do it properly. I don't want that shit you served me yesterday."
(F/N) had no idea what beverage the Captain preferred, but she'll do her best to find it out for herself. "Yes, Captain."
"You will leave this room at exactly six. Erwin may have decided to have you move rooms next to mine, but I do not want you disrupting my privacy. That should be a given."
"Of course, sir."
"You will not speak unless I told you so. Keep your fucking mouth shut."
Nod.
"Your uniform must be perfect, at all times. I respect order and hygiene around here, I expect you to do the same."
Again with the hygiene,...
Nod.
"You will not touch me unless I give you permission to do so. You don't have to worry about me touching you, though, brat. I will never, ever, touch you. Not in a million years."
Nod.
"And, one last thing." Levi finally went back to his chair. "The moment I regain my strength, I expect you to keep your distance from me. Stay in the Legion, or not, that's up to you. Go within a mile from me, a mile, you hear, and I will personally escort you to the Titans as bait. I will not hesitate to orchestrate your accident."
(F/N) felt the remaining ounces of her courage leave her body. She just bowed her head and stared at the floor, concentrating on it too hard to not let her tears fall.
Nod.
Levi didn't say anything else and grabbed his quill and paper. He looked up once more and said, "You smell like the stables. Go take a bath. Do not come back here until you are thoroughly clean."
The girl saluted her superior and went outside. She carefully closed the door and leaned on it. The tears were about to fall when she finally remembered the note that Hange gave her earlier. She opened it and read;
Levi is weaker than you are right now. Don't be afraid of him. If he harasses you once more, grab his broom and whack him in the head. That should teach him a lesson. If he goes berserk on you, I suggest you punch him in the face. If he calls you filthy or smelly, say that at least your mouth doesn't smell like his. If he spills tea on you again, grab the pot full of hot water from the kitchen and spill it to his dick. If he ever compares you to Petra,
(F/N) stopped reading for a while. She simply thought that the Captain had every right to compare her to Petra. She continued;
If he ever compares you to Petra, go back to her room, grab that torn dress, and shove it down to his throat. You are stronger than you think, (F/N). And much more beautiful than any other woman I know, and I'm referring to your heart. He is a bully and he doesn't deserve you. Do not let him destroy you.
Love,
Hange
P.S. You'll work with shorty now. God, I'll miss you so much! I'll be working on the antidote so that you could escape that midget. I won't be seeing you much, then. Good luck and don't hesitate to follow my advice.
