Our baby boy needs his screentime to grow big and strong. #This whole scene is very good and does a lot to show us several important traits about wwx: #1) He has no hesitation to put his own face or life at risk to help someone (even if they have never met). #2) He does not care for what others say or think about him; he will do what he thinks is right. #And he is smart enough to think is is always right about his judgement. This will be a problem later. #I also think the silly energy in this scene is top notch. #Wen Ning is the wild chipmunk wwx managed to catch and wants to keep as a pet. #Jiang Cheng is gently easing this boy out of wwx's extrovert maw and saying 'put him back outside'. #Can you imagine being blindsided by the full force of wwx out of nowhere? Getting his support and then archery tips? #You're done. You've been caught in his snare and you aren't getting out.

i debated cutting this clip down but i couldn't bring myself to not include the entire thing. donnie's reaction to being lied to by his dad is so raw and splinter actually fuckin apologizing to him without turning his feelings into a joke - this show is a downright masterpiece.

LWJ's string technique is one of my favoyrite things. #We do get a fair amount of LWJ fighting but I always loved how the theme of strings comes into play. #There is actually a lot to unpack with LWJ being associate with 'strings'. #The musicianship: Of dedication and rigor in one's practice. #The tension between following along a path or composing your own way forwards (playing what has been written vs composing) #A string is a tightly coiled/taunt entity; The same tension that makes it sing so beautifully can be it's downfall if pushed too hard. #And as a non-musical string - something that binds. Be it to his sect and family or how he binds his fate to WWX - #LWJ cannot exist without his binds. It is not something which ties him down though. It keeps him together. #And he himself *is* a bind. the oliver family reveal scene is such a character defining moment for felix. it reveals how deeply self serving he is as a person. ignoring that oliver is lying, since felix isn't aware of that at this point, felix is forcing his seemingly deeply traumatized friend back into said traumatizing environment because he feels the need to play the savior. "i'm not taking no for an answer. you have to fix this" why is felix insistent upon involving himself in these deeply personal family matters? to the point where he's bringing oliver there against his will? answering his phone and talking to his mom for him? as venetia said, he's known ollie for around six months. he couldn't truly begin to understand a family history that complicated and so opposite of his own in such short time, yet he's made himself an authority on mending this broken relationship between an abusive addict mother and her son. by deception. on ollie's birthday!!!!

the attention is taken away from this aspect of the dynamic very quickly since yknow, we find out everything is a farce anyway, but felix imposed himself like it was nothing. he has no concept of boundaries or overstepping- he cannot handle the word no. you can tell it's not the first time he's said "i'm not taking no for an answer" and it wouldn't be the last. and it wasn't ever even truly for ollie's sake, it was another part of felix's fantasy. it's another part of the role ollie plays for him. felix is a damsel that doesn't understand he's the damsel. he thinks he's the knight. and when his damsel isn't actually in distress, the illusion falls apart. suddenly, felix is the one actually in danger and the whole play is ruined.
