#My art #Requestober #Vargas #Edgar #Scriabin #Blood #SAW #So fun fact about me: I have never seen any of the SAW movies and I have exactly zero interest in changing that lol #I'm actually a huge wimp when it comes to live action horror - I can handle just about any other kind of horror! #I love horror video games and animation and comics and stories but I just get really super uncomfortable by live action horror #Especially slashers - I top out around ''Get Out'' as far as on-screen blood and injuries and the like :( #Which sucks because as I said! I love horror! I want to watch Nightmare on Elm Street so badly but I can't! ;o; #And there's something funny about just how violent JtHM and Vargas and everything is but I'm just like #''SAW :( No I can't :('' lol #So I actually had to outsource from a friend lol she's a big slasher buff and knows I can't handle this stuff #So she briefly described a trap from SAW II and I extrapolated from there #Do I have context for you? No #Do I have blood for you? Yes >:) #Poor Edgar D: I dunno if I read correct from glancing around all the scary imagery but there was something about this trap? #About how like if they didn't put both hands they might've been able to get out? :0 I don't actually know #And anyway he has Scriabin there with him! Help! #He's no help at all lol he's just jostling the trap that'll just hurt him more! #I just like to imagine there's a semi-happy ending :') Still a lot of bloodloss tho haha #Anyway I probably wouldn't do one of these live action horror crossovers again :'D Once is more than enough for me

the absolute lack of media literacy from people who haven’t even seen oppenheimer is making my head spin but whatever

#like - every three seconds it’s someone talking about how it’s us military prop or it doesn’t cover the atrocities well etc etc #when a) it is so definitely NOT us propoganda- it is so clearly critiquing the us military and oppenheimer himself #and b) it doesn’t cover every small detail of the impacts of the bomb bc that’s not what the film is about #it is a screenplay adapted from a biography on oppenheimer #it is about him - a biopic - and how he got to the point of making atomic weapons and ends on a note of undeniable horror #it is a movie that constantly bombards you with anxiety bc you have the burden of knowing the future #it is not in any way forgiving anything - it acknowledges the fucked up nature of the situation #hell it’s mostly a courtroom drama that shows how fucked up mccarthyism was #i’m a big history buff - so this plays a lot into it #but y’all have GOT to just stop seeinf things on a surface level and engage with media w/ a deeper mindset of just ‘thing bad’ #anyway - sorry it bothers me a lot #there are genuine criticims that can be leveled at both nolan and this film and i have seen them #im not sitting here calling the end all be all of cinema - but it’s a well made movie w/ something interesting to say and evaluate #not wanting to see it is one thing - by all means - but wringing it through the mud w/ absolutely no knowledge of the actual content of - #the film itself is actively annoying #media literacy #oppenheimer #mini rant

ok finally saw across the spiderverse and maybe im just a lesbian but i do not understand the hype about miguel o'hara at all

#like hes buff and he has his suit up his ass most of the time but hes not that hot?? #AND hes a total creep that stole the family of another version of himself #that's not sad or angsty that is a horror movie #imagine how his poor wife and kid wouldve felt if they found out the miguel they actually loved was long dead #and replaced by some spider mutant who had been spying on them and took advantage of his death to replace him #like sure that's a really interesting horror premise but that does not make him sexy that makes him scary #across the spiderverse #like there is something very interesting about a person who is so entitled that he would do that #bc he feels like the multiverse owes him something after putting in all that effort to fix it #but he also tried to beat the shit out of a 15 year old boy for not wanting his dad to die #like get fucked why are you either stealing children or beefing with them #do something else get a hobby go to therapy

Hajime curled up into Tomoya's side on the couch, popcorn bowl sitting between them. They were really tired after their most recent live and decided to have a night in at Tomoya's dorm (Mayoi would be out doing some work so they'd have the whole dorm to themselves!) and of course they had to do a movie night.

Hajime had brought his favorite movies over and picked one at random, forgetting how badly Tomoya handled horror movies sometimes until about thirty minutes in when Tomoya's death grip on Hajime's arm was impossible to ignore.

"Are you okay, Tomoya-kun?" Hajime turned to look up at his friend, who looked like he was doing okay until--

"Y-yep! Totally fine Hajime!" Tomoya had jumped at the loud noise coming from the movie and squeezed Hajime's hand again. Hajime sighed but reached for the remote and fumbled for the pause button.

"Tomoya-kun, can you look at me?" He asked, sitting upright without moving his hand from Tomoya's. Tomoya turned stiffly until he was facing Hajime.

"I'm fine! There isn't that much left of the movie anyway."

"It's okay if the movie was scaring you To-mo-ya-kun~" Hajime teased out with a light smile on his face. He leaned in and gently kissed him. "And besides, I'll protect you if something happens. That's why boyfriends are for right?"

Tomoya's face lit up. "I-I guess." He grabbed at the movie on top of the pile, sighing in relief that it wasn't another horror movie. "Can we watch this instead?"

i love how subjective horror is. someone will be like "this film was absolutely terrifying, had me in tears, can never watch it again" while i came out of it like "yeah it was kinda spooky"

and vice versa! paranormal activity haunts me to this day. many people hate it. we live in a society idk where i was going with this

#went to go leave a review on letterboxd and saw a review for the same movie from someone i follow #who was like 'this has shaken me to my core' #and theyre a big horror buff so its not like theyre unfamiliar with the genre #and that reaction was wild to me given what i just watched #but like i also get it i can see it #certain horror movies also i think you need to watch them in the right setting for maximum spook #the same movie will hit entirely different during the vs at night or just depending what you watch it on etc #my problem is i cannot watch movies at night because i will go to sleep

Apparently, the fact that I find horror movies comforting is disturbing to some people.

But I think it’s a glass half full kind of outlook. After all, no matter how shitty my day has been at least I’m not under attack from a malicious poltergeist or about to have someone’s face stitched to my asshole.
