So, Legally Blonde is a super fun movie, but man...something about the framing has always frustrated me.

Elle Wood's got a 4.0 at an extremely competitive school. She got a 179 on her SAT. She is the president of a major Sorority. That means she probably handles tens of thousands, at least, dollars of fundraising a year, plus all the other administration. It is a giant organizational and and financial operation and she's in charge of it. And to get to be president, she probably held at least two other offices the previous two years that she was also very successful in.

She's beautiful, smart, rich, and white. What about her isn't going to be absolutely Harvard material. I understand why her parents and Warren don't think it's a good fit. But her advisor? The admissions people (the rich, white, genius from a top tier school is their diversity pick?) The people who she's meeting in that scene after she gets there, when they are comparing backgrounds? The work she's done with Delta Nu is 100% on par with the other people.

It doesn't feel real, it feels like the movie has to keep making people discredit her, mostly arbitrarily, so it can say "yeah, she likes fashion, but also, she works hard." "Yeah, she likes fashion, but she knows random facts about fashion and hair care that allow her to bamboozle people on the witness stand."

The movie seem to just...want to minimize all her accomplishments until she decides to get into Harvard. They dismiss her 4.0. They dismiss her sorority as a silly group of friends, not a major administrative endeavor.

Ironically, the sequel actually does a much better job at showing how Elle's background made her a formidable player beyond knowing random facts about haircare. It understands that sororities are basically giant networking events, and Elle uses that, and all those social skills she picked up doing her administratively heavy job, to get shit done in Washington. She uses her Delta Nu connections to find political allies and to swell up ground support. She uses her social connections to learn how the world works from unusual sources. It shows that she was actually built for the world she's inhabiting, once she learns the rules. And the world also...invites her in. She says to a connection "I want to get on your staff" and then she just...does it. She has to learn the ropes once there (again, something she does via her networking and organizational skills), but all that history isn't a waste of time.

I just...I really wish I could watch that movie and not think about how it doesn't know what the fuck its talking about.

Rin's brother has always been the biggest constant in her life, the first time that she was away from him was when she moved to Korea to be an idol. He is the calm to her chaos, her voice of reason ever since she was young always making sure she didn't take any rash decisions.

Rin's parents adopted him on a family trip to china when Rin was barely a year old after doing some medical tests and such it was found that Longyu was two years old which made him a year older to Rin. coco is the one with darker fur while cece has lighter fur

personality wise the two differ greatly coco is pretty playful and loves interacting with the other pets or people who come and go into the house where as cece has a specific list who are allowed to touch her.

Thirio is a leopard gecko

Thirio was adopted from a pet shelter only sometime after coco and cece were adopted since he was the closest Longyu could get to a real life dinosaur.

very much unlike the meaning of his name Thirio is a very silly guy and loves to make funny faces. The only beastly thing he does is eat the way he eats.

This is a continuation to my last post :3

Mostly platonic stuff (since i hc lon as aroace), but open to romantic interpretation!

Lonnie is Tim's go-to yapper. Need someone to fight with? Tim just drops a pro-state take mid conversation with anyone and the next thing he knows, Lonnie is yelling with text-to-speech in his earbuds. Need to be grounded about an ethical dilemma? Ask no one but Lonnie. Tim enjoys getting him mad and heated about a subject a little too much and the way he laughs makes it seem like Red Robin is a villain in Anarky comics, and not vice versa.

Midnight confessions with Lonnie go hard. Tim's trying to solve a case about a maniacal genius and Lon casually drops "Red, this seems just like the time i tried to fuse my two brain lobes together, you might want to look into it."

Bernard thinks Lonnie is an imaginary friend of Tim's at first like when he claimed Stephanie was a made up girlfriend. Tim doesn't correct him for once.

Then one day a mechatronic shows up at the door and asks for Tim Drake. "I was informed he would be around here?" A creepy voice box announces. Bernard screams so hard you would think he's back in the pain cult.

Tim and Lonnie go for picnics in abandoned (ahem, community owned) buildings in Gotham, in costume.

Tim keeps the extra mannequin head Lonnie used to stuff in his costume as memorabilia from their childhood.

Lonnie Machin is the financial advisor of Wayne Entreprises' charities and foundations... uhh.. at least for an hour, before all the bank accounts have been hacked into and the money distributed to said charities and global organisations Lonnie founded through the Ünter/Internet. Tim is grounded for issuing a fake identity to an old villain to do the same villain activity he did years ago.

Red Robin has to pretend to not to see a lot of things Anarky does to keep up with his public image. They kind of continue a fake beef going in between them like old times to keep away suspicion.

"Tim what if he turns back into a villain, how can you trust him so blindly?" "Oh, i would not wish it in any circumstance. He has control over everything i own, after all." "Everything?" "Moneyspider, open my belt pockets please, i crave a snack."

"Lonnie, how can you trust a Bat? Don't you still think he will become detrimental to the cause with this hero bullshit one day?" "I would not wish it in any circumstance, Red pays my physical therapy bills. Plus, he has unlimited access to everything i built." "How unlimited?" "Red, what was the password to my classified files again?'

(Its still "password") (Im still so not over the fact that the options were 1- bakunin 2- proudhon and 3- password)

Lonnie, every now and then changes up Tim's password for safety reasons, and forgets to inform him. This has led to Tim getting logged out of Batfam comms and shit. He hates it but the alternative is him recieving a voicemail randomly in the middle of the night.

Like its 4:20 a.m. and Lonnie randomly drops a 65 digit password. Tim is now up and very annoyed.

You know I talked a lot about my Regular Affogato Headcannons and I promise I WILL get to his backstory, but I want to yapp more about Affocream.

Now finnally, here are my

Affocream Hcs (in no real order)

-When the CoD fully knew about the Consil of Heros, they knew they needed inside information, so they chose Affo, the known sweet talking, two-faced, deceiver, to go and gain the trust of the Young Consul of the Créme Republic by becoming his advisor (bc that worked out great last time/s). Of course that ended up backfireing as Affo found a Sweet Spot for the Consul and ended up falling in love.

-Affo and Clotted help eachother get dressed in the morning. Affo sometimes has Clotted put on his lipstick for him and it kinda goes like this

“There! I think i did it quite well!”

“*smacks lips* You really did, Dearest. *Grabs his face and kisses him* Oops! I smudged it, would you be a dear and reapply it?”

“Affo… If I reapply it for you, this will go on for ten minuites and we’ll end up kissing and making a mess of both our faces!”

“Aww, Its not my fault you’re so irresistabley handsome!”

-They wake up together in the morning with the sun shining throught the windows all pretty and they just cuddle and give eachother sleepy kisses and stuff

-They both love desserts (thats cannon) so they go on dates and get eachother little treats all the time

-Clotted took Affo on a date to the beach once which was quite new for Affo, as a cookie who grew up in frigid snowy mountain ridges, he’d never been to a beach before. He enjoyed it and the two played in the water together and just had a good time

-I said this in my Affo hc post but Clotted gave Affo a white pearl bracelet as a symbol of undying trust between the two…. Affo for once felt guilty about lying to someone

-Clotted knows about Affogatos trauma (which i PROMISE, I’ll talk abt but its just REALLY REALLY dark) and does research on how to try and help him and be a supportive boyfriend

-Affo also helps Clotted live more, and be less afraid of going against what his father wants or thinks is right, reminding Clotted that HE is the Consul, not his father

-In terms of human nationalities, I hc Clotted is half British (bc clotted cream is a british dish) and half French (bc many of the other cookies of the Créme Republic are named after French desserts and even the name if the place sounds French) and Clotted speaks French fluently often with Financier or Madeilene and the first time the Affo heard it he was absolutley flustered

-Because of this, Clotted ofthen teases him by calling Affo French petnames or just saying sweet phrases to him in French

-Lots of “purley professional” hand kissing

-The Créme Republic hosts Balls for the nobles and elders sometimes, Affo was invited to one by Clotted and was told to wear something nice. He showed up wearing a beautiful purple ballgown with black gloves and Clotted was of course blown away and the two danced all night (im a sucker for ballroom dance scenes)

-Affo wasn’t used to that type of dancing at first, being both Cacaoian and a shaman, but was easily able to pick it up and enjoyed himself

-Affo met Light Cream once and it went very well! Light Cream unlike SOME OTHER of Clotted’s familiy members was very supportive of Clotted’s new boyfriend and loved Affogato. Affo saw a lot of his own mother’s traits in her so he warmed up to her too.

-Not too much of a hc just a disasterous idea of a Affocream/ Esspressiline double date at a café where Affogato and Esspresso’s coffee orders get mixed up and chaos unfolds

-Also not a hc but them going out in thier cannon casual outfits together

-Kinda an Au hc- They are the fathers of Sugar Coat Cookie (the tailor in the town square update)

-In this Au, Affo is very protective of his son, ESSPECIALLY with who hes dating

-This is an Au bc i personally in my cannon could never see Affo wanting kids (Clotted would be fine with or without). He and Clotted could have a perfectly happy and fufilling life and relationship without them.

-Clotted often overworks himself, working late nights without any breaks and its not rare that he falls asleep midway. When Affo finds him like this he takes him to thier room, puts him in bed and finishes the work he can for him. When Clotted wakes up, he obviously gets nervous that he nevr finished, but when he goes to his desk, he sees all his papers neatley organized with a note on top:

“Dearest, You fell asleep at your desk again, I carried you to bed and made sure you got rest. Dont worry about your work, I stayed up to finish it for you!

~Affogato <3”

-They both love to play with eachothers hair for different reasons. Clotted loves how silky and smooth Affogato’s hair is while Affo loves the fluffiness of Clotted’s hair

-“Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy” x “Killer Queen”…. thats it

-Financier has walked in on intimate moments TOO. MANY. TIMES.

-For even more intimate moments, they always have some sort of dessert afterwards

-Clotted and Affo go ALL OUT on those moments, like rose petals leading to the room or smth

-One time, the two of them got carried away and Clotted ended up with a VERY noticable hickey on his neck, but luckily he has a boyfriend thats skilled with makeup

-Now hickeys only go in places no one will see

-Both are very touch starved in different ways (Clotted being touch starved overall, while Affo is starved of specifically loving touch, touch that means more)

-They are both very persistant in arguments both being very intelligent, sassy and good at rebuttals (thier gay politicians, what do you expect?)

-Despite being Clotted’s advisor, Affo doesn’t go to many Consil meetings. He went once but it went HORRIBLY because of one problem: Cacao, who has (rightfully) not forgiven him and honsestly never will

-This doesn’t mean Affo doesn’t sometimes join Clotted in his travels, they mostly go to the Vanilla Kingdom ofc

-He stays home when meetings are in the Cacao Kingdom ofc (He is banned and/or wanted for a HIGH bounty) He and Clotted still talk on the phone all night after meetings

-Remember my Headcannon that Affo’s favorite place on Earthbread was the Hollyberry Kingdom. When meetings are held there, the two of them make a vacation of it.Affogato was so happy when he found out they were going the first time and he enjoys every second of it!

-Hollyberry doesn’t mind Affogato too much but when she brought up her berry-juice drinking contest with Clotted, Affo decided to step up to the challenge in his place, despite Clotted repeatedly saying it wasn’t necesary…..Affo lost and Clotted had to carry his drunk ass back to thier room

-The two of them cuddle a bunch while Clotted reads or like Affo curls up on his lap like a cat or something

-They both planned to propose on the same day and they both cried during the proposals (they said yes ofc)

-This will DEFINATLEY not be the end of them but its all I can think of right now-

Sorry for the wait for more of those TGAMM Aladdin AU ideas. I saw how long it took between the first and last post. I got very busy, especially with working on a certain fan fic. Here is part 2. (Part one is here in case you forgot).

-So as said before, Molly wants to pass herself off as a rich princess so that she can provide for her kingdom AND be able to see Ollie again. However, Libby (who is passing herself off as a handmaiden) forms the entire background and backstory of a made-up kingdom so that Molly’s lie isn’t exposed that easily. The main problem is ensuring Molly is convincing enough to sell the story since she’s not a good liar. Somewhere there is a montage where Molly is being taught how to lie and struggles with it (likely a certain fake magician is an unwitting test subject, much to her displeasure).

–Elsewhere Jinx is angry about the loss of the lamp and is looking for other methods. Ollie shows suspicion, which makes her further eager to hurry up. Except there’s a big commotion that disrupts her and it’s coming outside…

–There’s a huge procession leading up to the Chen’s palace. Singing is optional (I’m not sure Scratch would be keen on singing in this case, but the “Physique, weak at my knees” line would need to be omitted if that happens since that’s not appropriate to sing regarding a young teenage girl. If you want to imagine him dressing in drag, you are free to do so).

-So they enter the palace. Molly barely manages to be convincing as she tells Reuben and Esther that she wishes to provide some financial aid for the kingdom. However she is completely thrown off when they assume that she is here for their son’s hand in marriage. Molly tries to backpedal and say that’s not why she was here.

-But of course, Scratch (who is posing as her advisor and disguised as a human, as you might recall) makes things worse by saying that she’s trying to figure out if OLLIE is good enough to be married to her. Libby has to do quick damage control before both Molly and Scratch anger the sultan and his wife by asking if they should stay for the night since it’s the festival today (this plot point comes from the 2019 film). Reuben and Esther manage to agree since they are desperate for someone by this point.

-June sees right through the BS. She can tell there’s something off about this princess, unlike the others who came before her. What kind of princess wouldn’t know that her brother was available for marriage? Also wow that advisor is kind of a jerk and doesn’t seem to have any problems speaking so casually with the princess in public.

–Ollie is just not comfortable with the whole thing. He feels like this princess is trying to sell herself off and doesn’t actually care about providing financial aid.

-Jinx watches all this and she finds the princess to be oddly familiar-looking.

-The night of the festival arrives. There’s dancing and food (guess who goes for the latter and terrifies the onlookers?) A lot of people are showing great interest in Molly and want to know about her kingdom, but she wants to talk about theirs and how she could help them. Thankfully Libby is still guiding her a few times. She is able to win everyone over with her joy and eagerness. Even Reuben and Esther are starting to be impressed.

-Eventually, Molly just wants to party with her friends. She even gets Scratch to dance with her and he is starting to have fun with her. She is happy that she got him to open up a bit more.

–The latter does not escape Ollie. He is not used to seeing a princess treat her subjects as equals like that, and it’s oddly refreshing. June voices her concerns to Ollie that Molly might not be who she claims to be, and advises him to be cautious.

-Libby found a way to sneak in the magic carpet and offers it to Molly, because she is a bit of a shipper and knows what can set the mood.

–Scratch finds out and isn’t impressed. He thinks it would be neat if Molly did manage to get herself a prince, but he’s starting to worry that maybe he’s getting her too deep into things. Also, he doesn’t like how Jinx has been constantly looking at Molly.

-Molly eventually tries to approach Ollie. June gets in her way at first, but the girl realizes Molly has at least been sincere in wanting to aid the kingdom, so she lets her meet up with her brother. June intends on learning more about the girl, because maybe this could be someone Ollie might want to be with someday, compared to the usual girls.

-Ollie tries to explain to the princess that he is NOT interested in marrying so soon. He already has a lot to shoulder before he’s old enough to take the throne, and finding a wife this soon is the last thing on his mind. Molly admits that’s not what she wants either, and that most kids should be thinking of boyfriends and girlfriends instead of future husbands or wives. She also tells him that he truly could be a great ruler if he was free to rule as he wished.

–Somewhere around this time, Molly accidentally reveals something that gives away her identity. Likely a phrase or key word. Ollie catches it as Molly offers him the experience of a lifetime–riding a magic carpet–and to just get to be a teenager for one night and not think about huge burdens.

-Cue the ‘Whole New World’ montage where its two kids going on a carpet ride, exploring the lands beyond the city, and falling in innocent young love.

-As Molly and Ollie stare out at the city, Ollie’s suspicions grow. He is able to trick Molly into revealing that she’s the girl he met that one time.

–In a panic, Molly (as expected) lies and claims that she is a real princess who was in disguise since she doesn’t want to admit the truth or give away who made her a princess. A part of Ollie isn’t convinced, but he goes with it.

-Scratch finds out that Molly lied and is not impressed, even if he appreciates that she was trying to keep him a secret. In fact, he’s getting a bit concerned.

-Ok, so the drowning scene would be a combination of the original and 2019 films. Jinx has Molly captured, chained up, and taken to a body of water. Libby is the one who catches this and takes the lamp and carpet to follow after them because she is scared that things will go south.

–Jinx accuses Molly of not being who she is and that she has the lamp. Molly lies (partly because she does NOT want Scratch to end up in this woman’s possession, and she’s gotten an idea of what her fate would of been, had she brought the lamp to her.)

-The drowning scene plays out how you’d expect. Molly ends up in the water, but gets the lamp and activates it. Scratch panics and has to get her to make her second wish to be saved and he gets her out of there before she drowns. She is relieved to be saved and he is upset because he almost lost her and he’s grown attached to this girl. In fact she is the first human he’s ever cared about to this extent.

-Scratch enters ‘Papa Wolf’ mode as he returns to the palace with Molly in human form and demands the attention of June and Ollie because he knows someone tried to kill Molly and they need to bring that person to justice. He is mad as hell and terrifies the siblings a bit, but Molly calms him down and tells him who was responsible, which leads to everyone to make a plan.

-June had done some research beforehand and realized that Molly’s kingdom is entirely made up. However, she sets aside confronting Molly about it since she finds it odd someone would go out of their way to drown her.

-The next day, Jinx is shocked that Molly is alive. The girl has told Reuben and Esther what happened, and they confront Jinx and want to know what is going on. In a desperate move, Jinx tries to hypnotize the couple into believing her lies… and at this point I realize that I didn’t think of giving her the staff. Let’s just say that she has one, and Molly can figure it out and breaks it.

Of course, even though Jinx ends up getting arrested, she not only escapes, but she realizes that Molly does have the lamp. Not only that, she is able to correctly guess who Scratch is. The fact that their seems to be a genuine friendship between the two doesn’t escape her notice.

–Reuben and Esther are thankful to Molly and say that they are in debt to her. They say that they would gladly be happy to have her as their son’s future wife. Molly tells them that she doesn’t think she is ready to marry Ollie, and wants to respect what he wants. The couple is still insistent, and Molly tells them that she would genuinely need time to think about that, because all she wanted was to help the kingdom. However they are still insistent and in her panic, she runs away.

–She is too overwhelmed. Even if she likes Ollie, she knows that she is not ready for that future right now, not to mention the lies she told that could get her in trouble.

-While Molly and Scratch are alone, he snarkily wonders if Molly is going to take back her promise to free him and use her last wish on herself. To his shock, Molly does NOT want to go back on her word. However, she needs to figure out what to do about the situation she is trapped in, without resorting to that. She tries to reassure Scratch that she will free him like ehe promised…

-“Whoah, I didn’t ever say I wanted to be free, Moll. Do you have any idea what that would mean for me?”

–And so, Scratch gets defensive when Molly tries to figure out why he would suddenly be so against the wish when he has made it clear that he HATES the position he is stuck in. He explodes on her and tells her that being reduced to a powerless, pathetic mortal who can easily die without any magic to protect him like her and everyone else is the scariest thing he can imagine. Molly counters that while that could happen, living out your life, no matter how short, is better than being trapped, alone, and forced to answer to another if you don’t want that.

–Scratch gives up and locks himself back in the lamp. A frustrated Molly leaves the palace.

–Molly returns home to her family who are relieved, and she tells them everything. She tearfully admits that she doesn’t want to have to keep living a lie for the sake of everyone and she doesn’t want to abandon her family or get married so young. She also deeply regrets pushing Scratch and wishes that she could help him be happy.

–Pete and Sharon tell her that it is better to be yourself. They don’t want to see her suffer and to be honest they aren’t ready to give her up yet, even if it was to a prince. They also tell her to give the situation with Scratch time and maybe the two could talk things over. If he wanted to, he could even stay with them (Though he has to get his own food).

–Molly smiles and tells them she will do that and mention that offer. Besides, she could gift him the carpet if he wants to see the world. However, she must be honest with the royal family first–this is one problem she needs to solve on her own.

–As Molly heads toward the palace someone bumps into her on the streets. Confused, Molly continues on, but fails to realize Jinx was in disguise and took the lamp.

–A wickedly delighted Jinx summons Scratch out of the lamp in private. He is deeply confused at first and is about to grumble to Molly until he realizes who awakened him. He then realizes that things are about to go south, but unfortunately, he can’t do anything about it.

hey LJ i have a question that i feel you might be able to help me with (if you'd like to answer ofc, no pressure) - i see a lot of "both candidates are bad, they will both commit atrocities so you shouldn't vote for either" and i get this in some ways, but i also see a lot of posts how there is no "harm reduction" or that it doesn't matter and this is where i get kind of lost. if candidate 'A' AND candidate 'B' are both going to harm groups 'x' 'y' and 'z', but candidate 'A' wants to also harm group 'm' and candidate 'B' does not, wouldn't it make sense to vote for candidate 'B'? or is this simply too utilitarian of me, or perhaps an oversimplification? (mostly i'm worried about Project 2025, which sounds very scary and worries me a lot as a usamerican, im not trying to minimize the damage either candidate would do, i'd rather neither of these totally hypothetical candidates be elected, but it seems likely that one of them will be)

Once again, we haven't yet even had a primary so 'which of these two as-yet-undecided opponents do we vote for' is jumping the gun...or reflective of how little faith people have in the presidential electoral system to allow people to choose someone outside the narrow party system, in which case, you're almost there.

Project 2025 is the "plan to reshape America" (into what it already is) spearheaded by The Heritage Foundation. For the uninitiated, THF is one of the largest if not the largest coalitions of far-right interests. They initially thought Trump was a big fucking clown, and refused to endorse him, then when he got elected in 2016 they thought he could potentially be a useful idiot, at least way more likely to support their cause than Clinton. Now with the 2024 election, they haven't officially endorsed anyone, but it seems to everyone that Trump would be their man for the plan.

Project 2025 is...well, disgusting and concerning, but the questions remain: Would Trump follow up on these if elected? Will he even be able to run? Would Ron DeSantis follow up on these? Would Biden combat these policies?

A number of the proposals are directly in opposition to Trump's ego, particularly with the focus of emboldening the FBI. A number of the members of THF's board are also not on good terms with Trump--whether that will hamper their ability to negotiate or his is unclear.

Trump currently can run for office but if convicted he cannot actually serve. The weasel has been successful at dodging accountability in the past, so who fucking knows if anything will actually stick.

David Dewhirst, Ron DeSantis' advisor has recently joined Project 2025 as an advisor, which doesn't sound promising. In all the hubbub forever and always about Trump, the DNC hasn't paid much attention to the risks DeSantis poses, as frankly he's a much more concerning opponent than Trump. What the DNC has done is respond smugly to DeSantis's run, insisting yeah he should run so he can further embarrass himself. (Hm, sounds like what they said in 2016 about Trump...). A lot of the DNC's critique of DeSantis is hypocritical when it comes to financial matters. They rightfully dunk on him for taking money and aid from constituents to fund corporations, but someone please fill me in again on how many Dems do the same? With one of the worst offenders being senator Joe Manchin of WV, the DNC's little "rogue", or the side-swapping governor of the same state Jim Justice.

So then we have to wonder, okay, if Biden is reelected, does that mean Project 2025 won't happen? Project 2025, while a genuine threat, is the exact boogeyman tactic the DNC delights in. This quote put it well: "Forget Trump. Project 2025 is the greatest threat to democracy we have seen in our country’s history." Every election is 'the most important election ever' as we are facing the newest 'greatest threat to democracy' and so you have to give your money to the dems to stop them. And then they don't.

I remember when Sarah Palin was going to be the cause of the 2012 End Times and goodbye democracy. But doomed democracy is always the carrot at the end of the stick urging you to vote in the Most Important Election Ever.

What do the dems in office to to insulate against these threats? Fuck all. One of the biggest fiascos with the carrot approach has been over Roe v. Wade. Dems had the opportunity to replace RBG with someone young who would weigh in on important issues for decades to come, and they didn't. Then her death allowed Republicans to replace her and overturn Roe v. Wade, one of the biggest carrots the dems have been dangling for decades! "Keep us in office to keep Roe v. Wade!" they said. Now look.

People are rightfully worried about the oil lobby influence in Project 2025, I'm worried about Biden's oil lobby interests. He has fast-tracked the Mountain Valley Pipeline (x2) in Appalachia after squeezing it into the debt ceiling talks and clearing addition obstacles which has emboldened the courts to decline halts to the project, he approved oil drilling in Alaska, and Biden has generally been invested in oil even more than Trump was, issuing more permits for drilling than Trump, and apparently now setting records for oil production.

There are plenty of other posts that tear into Biden way more in depth than I will right now, dealing with his horrific immigration policy, his debacle with student loans, his failure to make good on any drug decriminalization, his spending more on law enforcement and mass surveillance than Trump, the list goes on, without even touching his current atrocities in his support for Israel.

So what is to be done? I told the other anon about publicly witholding your vote until Biden meets literally any demands, making it known to his campaign team/doorknockers/pollworkers that this is your stance. If your vote is really important as they say, then leverage it.

Here is a great piece about Voting As Harm Reduction that dives into the issue with that sentiment better than I can.

The thing is ultimately while the Project 2025 blueprint is newly published, nothing in it is new strategy, it's just THF's strategy for the last 40 years packaged into one place. Yes, it is scary, but it is neither a guarantee to all happen under Trump nor an assurance that it won't happen under Biden.

The best insulation against any presidential bullshittery is, as always, grassroots organizing. Connect with orgs working to make abortion accessible, connect with groups working to make your place a sanctuary city, connect with groups insulating your local communities, and support those involved in direct action.

Under Biden's presidency, police are building an expensive and elaborate training ground for police in Atlanta, Georgia. This project has been referred to as Cop City. It is being protested, and resistance has been met with extreme brutality and harsh legal punishment. The land is being destroyed for this, making it a climate and indigenous issue; an indigenous protester was murdered by police over it, making it a police brutality and indigenous issue; Biden has been dumping money into law enforcement training; and this area is grounds for new repression tactics in the US.

It is crucial to build insulation to presidencies so that no matter who is president, local communities can resist disgusting policies and protect our people.

We can talk ourselves in circles and I won't tell you who to vote for or which president will fix these issues because I do not think any of them will, and each one will make individual bad situations worse.

I frankly do not care if you vote for Biden and if that vote makes you feel a bit more secure in your impending fears--the vote shouldn't be all you do.

And for what it's worth, I did not vote for Biden in 2020, so factor that into your analysis for how you see my advice in your decision.

Imagine Meeting DMC 2 Dante

So, I finally got around to playing DMC 2 and Dante is so much more stoic in that game than he is in any of the others. He doesn't talk much and is just a very serious lad compared to the other games where he is the wacky woohoo pizza man.

Capcom trying to make him this way didn't hit too much and I'm sure the rest of the fandom can agree from what I've seen from other reviews.

This isn't where this post is getting at tho.

Seeing Dante more like Vergil in this game had me thinking.

What if this is the Dante you met?

Imagine having baby Nero, walking around Redgrave, and seeing the white-haired man. He's in red so you know it's not the man you met a few years back but maybe he's at least related. It couldn't hurt to check, right?

So you walk up to him and he doesn't say anything but he does notice Nero. And Dante immediately thinks that the boy is his. And he's confused and a little scared. He wasn't made to be a father, especially not with the life he lives.

So he tries to let you down easily and leave the situation as soon as possible. He tries until you say, "I watched you go the first time, I can't let you go again. Please, even if you aren't him, I need someone related to him. Nero needs his family and I'm the only one."

And Dante realizes you are Vergil's mate and this was Vergil's offspring, Dante's kin. And a protectiveness washes over him and he instantly feels the need to protect you, the boy, and kick Vergil's ass the next time he sees him, no matter the man's condition.

So with a few words, Dante takes you back to the DMC building and gives you one of the upstairs spare rooms, and helps you take care of Nero. He tells you about Vergil and their family and in turn, you tell Dante about how you and Vergil met and about his new nephew.

He helps you raise the boy as he becomes the moody, sarcastic hotheaded teen we see in DMC 4. And at some point Nero does ask about his father and you both tell him and he still hates Vergil just as much as he does in DMC 5.

And seeing Dante become this light-hearted, wacky man over the years kind of helps soothe you and you could see yourself living the rest of your life helping Dante with his business, even if it's just as his financial advisor.

And when Dante and Nero go on their mission in DMC 5 and Dante finds out it's his brother behind all this, that battle at the top of the Qliphoth is much more heated and Vergil can tell this is something more than just getting back at his brother for opening a portal to hell and trying to become the ruler.

So when they're walking through hell, Vergil has to ask. "I know there is more to this than our old rivalry."

Dante hums. "Yeah, it is."

"Enlighten me then brother." "Nero, he's yours." "I thought we established that already?"

Dante chuckles. "Yeah but not about his mother."

Vergil looks at his brother curiously. "Is she alive?" "Very much so. She's been staying with me since we were 30. She came to me on the streets, begging me to stay thinking I was you. She's quite the woman, Vergil, I can't believe you let her go."

Vergil hums, nodding.

You will always be grateful for Dante letting you in and helping you out. And Dante will always feel like he's in debt to you even if it should be the other way around. Because you are his family, and he will do anything and everything to make sure you never end up like the lost woman who came begging for his love and approval all those years ago.

Pairing: Steve Harrington x Fem! Reader (no physical descriptions)

Summary: Steve and Y/N worry about their future together after high school. (Hope that's a good enough summary...)

Word count: 2,9k

Warnings: Based in season 2 Steve, Nancy and Steve never dated, underage drinking, drunk reader, Steve being kind of a douche, little angst?? Mostly fluff though. Also, like one curse word. (English is NOT my first language)

A/N: Hi! So, this is my first fic…I´m very excited but also super nervous. I wanted to write this because Steve reminds me a lot of Pacey Witter, one of my favorite characters ever so I thought I would do a Dawson´s Creek episode homage to a scene I love so, yeah, anyway…hope you guys enjoy! <3

Steve Harrington or King Steve as many in Hawkins High are used to calling him, he's the kind of guy to make someone nervous just by his mere presence, and don't even think about him talking to you because you will probably be left frozen to even respond. He's got the looks too, a high school version of Tom Cruise if you will, with that award-winning smile and hair that could possibly get its own talk show, Steve Harrington was the envy of many boys and girls in Hawkins.

However, Steve here was good at keeping secrets. Like the fact that he didn't like his friends and it was all a big status charade, that he and his parents never had a good relationship which made him feel lonely every time he was at his house, and that he might be the most popular guy in high school but that didn't mean it would get him out of it, high school I mean, because that's right, he keeps his below-average grades a secret from everyone. Well, maybe not everyone. There is, of course, Y/N L/N. Steve Harrington's girlfriend. When people talk about opposites attract, they might as well be talking about Steve and Y/N and their relationship. Y/N has always been a straight-A student and even if she won't admit it, she is pretty much a goody two shoes. You will never see her skipping class, except for that one time when it was Steve's birthday and she wanted to do something special and even then, she took her time to justify herself, it was his 18th birthday after all. Totally worth it, because believe it or not, Steve and Y/N are in for the long haul. They are pretty much attached to the hip at this point, and everyone knows they are Hawkins High class of '84 couple.

That brings us to the present. March 18th, 1984.

Y/N was sitting in her favorite coffee shop with her best friend, Nancy Wheeler. They were both drinking their not too hot, not too cold coffees. Nancy could see that Y/N was not fully present, she was most likely overthinking, she's aware that school for a senior can be hard in these couple of months; so close to graduating and not being able to get enough sleep for it.

“You shouldn't stay up all night stressing about college, you'll get in some place great. They'll give you tons of financial aid, and everything will be perfect” said Nancy trying to ease her friend's nerves that could be easily pointed out by how she was furrowing her eyebrows this whole time.

Y/N sighs looking down at her now empty coffee cup. “Yeah that's what I thought too…until yesterday.” you could tell something was really eating her up inside.

“What happened yesterday?”

“I had a meeting with the new college advisor.”

Y/N started doing that face she does when she's a little embarrassed, you know, the one where she gets her lips turning slightly up making her cheeks look even fuller. It was adorable really, not that she would ever think that though.

“So?” Nancy was waiting for Y/N to drop the bomb on her already.

While Y/N was having trouble addressing the issue until she finally said it. “I'm fourth.”

Now Nancy was trying to figure out what she meant by that. “Fourth? Four- Fourth in your class?” Nancy gasped with so much excitement that some heads turned to their table with confusion. “Y/N! That´s amazing!”

“Yeah…it's amazing…but Nancy, all the places that I thought I wanted to apply to, they're looking for people who are number four, and they're you know, concert violinists or they won the Westinghouse science prize, or they're legacies like Heather. I mean…maybe I shouldn't even bother, I--I'd probably just be wasting the application fees.”

“Come on, Y/N/N, your defeatist attitude has to go.” Nancy hated seeing her friend doubt herself like this. “What does Steve say?” she added.

Y/N furrowed her eyebrows even more, if that's even possible. “Steve is barely going to graduate, I can't exactly cry on his shoulder about my tragic lack of extracurricular activities. If I tell Steve how stressed I am, he's just going to think that I'm this pathetic, whiny crybaby, you know?”

To be clear, Y/N wasn't a snitch but Nancy happened to be one of the best math tutors around in school and she always found out what students needed help, that's when she saw Steve's name, and…well she pretty much got in on the secret.

Later that week

“Look, going to one of these schools could open opportunities you've always dreamed about, right?

“Yes.” said Y/N with no hesitation in her voice.

“So, your dreams are your dreams, Y/N. You can't apologize for them. Just talk to him. You'll probably find out they're his dreams, too.”

Steve and Y/N were studying at Steve's place. Y/N wanted to help her boyfriend with his schoolwork and be ready for anything in the process. Steve, on the other hand, was just happy he got to spend some extra time with his girl.

They have been studying for a little bit over an hour now, it's around 6 in the afternoon and Steve couldn't ditch the feeling that something was bothering her. He thought that in a couple of minutes she would be talking all about it but when she kept re-reading the same page of her English book report he realized she probably wasn't. Therefor, Steve knew he needed to know what was wrong and if he could possibly help. He always felt like he owed Y/N a lot, him always thinking that she deserves better or that she's too good for him happen to be one of his deepest concerns. Of course, she doesn't feel that way in the slightest but what can I say, they are both very stubborn people. While Steve was thinking about all of this for the third time this day, he didn't realize he was staring, which of course she noticed, that's when she finally had enough.

Y/N sighs. “I found out yesterday that I'm fourth. My class rank. I'm fourth.”

“If I tell you what's bothering me, will you promise not to laugh at me, or tell me I'm insane or insist that I should just get over myself?”

As Steve got out of his thoughts, he couldn't help but smile at her nervous tone. “I think I can probably do that, yeah,” he said with a warm and inviting voice.

Steve without a second thought to his previous promise, chuckles “That's your problem? That's not a problem. If anything, that's a reason to quit studying.”

“I don't even know why I bother. I knew you wouldn't understand,” said Y/N.

Steve caught the look of sadness in her eyes and said “Ok, I'm sorry. That was bad. Can we try that again? Yeah? But this time, you've got to cut out all that stuff about being number four, 'cause I know that can't possibly be the reason you're so bothered.”

Y/N rolls her eyes and sighs, now sitting next to Steve in his bed. “Well, no, It's…it's just that I always thought that if I did well in school, that these doors would open for me, you know, and--and maybe I was just being naive. Maybe I've just set these goals that are unrealistic, and you know, certain people get into certain places because of who their parents are, how--you're not even listening.”

“Uh, no, I was listening. Look, we should just all have your problems you know? You're sitting here as a girl with one of the brightest futures on the face of the planet talking to a guy who's not going to get into any school where they don't give him his own tools.”

Y/N looks confused and sighs. “Put your shoes on. Let's go out.”

Now it was Steve's turn to look confused. “Out? We can't go out.”

Y/N stands up looking for that baby blue top that she loves and always leaves at Steve's. “Yeah, we can.”

“You know, just when this conversation starts to get emotionally complicated you want to bail. Who’s the guy in this relationship?”

Y/N turns to him and with an unbothered look says “You are, and like the guy, you have a choice. You can either stay here and prove how insensitive you are, or we can go to Amy's un-birthday party.”

“Right…I'll get my shoes.” with that, Steve knew in his gut he was in for a long night.

Arriving at the party you could tell everyone was already pretty wasted. It was the first big party of the year after all.

Steve and Y/N enter the house and instantly guys start to greet Steve while the girls were whispering behind Y/N's back. That was something she will never get used to.

“We came for your immortal soul. That is if you got one.” Y/N mimicked his smile from earlier earning a very dramatic eye roll from Tommy.

Going to the kitchen the couple met with the voice of Tommy H, a grade-A asshole in Hawkins High and of course one of Steve's friends.

“Harrington. I knew you couldn't resist a party.” He says with that smug smile that you just want to wipe off his face. He then turns his head slightly to see Y/N, and let’s just say they don't get along. “I see you've brought the prim reaper.” He said with an annoyed look, they have hated each other since they can remember, and dating Steve definitely didn't change that.

Finally, Steve decided to cut in, “Actually I just want a drink.” he said with no emotion in his voice whatsoever.

Steve takes the cup away from her as fast as he can. “Oh, no, no, no. I don't think so. It is a proven fact, that you, madam, cannot hold your alcohol.”

“Mm-hmm. Here's one for you and for you.” Tommy directs the second drink at Y/N.

“Thanks.”

Y/N scoffs. “So let me get this straight, you can drink at parties, and I can't?” Oh oh, rocky territory.

“Yes, because as you so rightly pointed out, I am a guy, and if I'm going to get in trouble for being a guy, I think I should at least get to act like one every once in a while.”

At this point, Y/N looks at him with this fake agreement look which makes Steve self-conscious, that couldn't be a good sign. “You know, with your advance permission and approval. Of course, I wouldn't, you know, do it without asking first.”

Later that night…

“That's fine.”

“That's fine?” Steve was waiting for the shoe to drop.

Y/N's face changes to a look of calmness and unbotherness. “Yeah. We'll both be guys tonight. Cheers.” And there it was. The shoe dropped.

As expected, Y/N didn't feel like being babysitted by Steve, wouldn't that be ironic? So, tonight she lost him while spreading in the crowd of people to find one of her friends. Leaving Steve to do some finding of his own.

Tommy H. was having fun that much they knew. “Excellent. I love this girl. It's like she's trying to lose.”

Y/N was pacing around trying to find Steve and give him a piece of her mind. Her drunk mind that is. Until of course her eyes went wide in surprise.

“Strip poker. I leave you alone for 2 seconds, and you end up playing strip poker?”

Shit. Steve thought. “Originally this was just poker-poker until I started kicking his ass. Then Tommy decided to change the stakes on me, but I'm finished, now, and, uh, we can just leave.”

Oh, this was too good for Y/N to leave behind. Mocking surprise, she says “Why leave? There's a half-naked chick in the room.”

Steve knew where this was going and he wasn't really looking forward to that. “It's just a game. Up until now, nobody's taken off anything other than socks.”

“So, it's all just good, old, clean fun?”

“Yeah, exactly. Just good, clean, American guy fun.” said Steve with a smile that thought would make Y/N leave the issue alone.

“You heard me, now, what does a girl have to take off in order to play this game?” Y/N took a chair and sat down while drinking her punch.

“Mm. Deal me in.”

“Excuse me?” by now everyone was just looking at the couple and their little moment. Hawkins High most popular couple having an argument at a party? Scandalous.

“Ok, that's enough”, Steve says with an unexpected clap to make clear he was being serious. “It's time for us to leave now 'cause you see, you're drunk, you're bordering on disorderly and you are definitely insane. So, get up. Let's go. Shall we? Finished? Stand up. Let's go.” he said in a sing like voice, hoping Y/N wouldn't cause more of a scene.

“And why would I do that?” said Y/N smirking at her losing patience boyfriend.

“You want me to stand up?” Oh, Y/N was enjoying this, he thought.

“Yes, I'd like for you to stand up now.” he said faking a smile.

“Because you are forcing me to make the ultimate guy maneuver.” And before she could give him a response to what he means by that, Steve carried her on his shoulder and starting walking to exit the party.

“Steve, uh, you can put me down now, Steve. I'm fine.”

After a quiet ride full of inside thoughts from both of them, they finally arrived at Y/N's house. Steve got out of the car and went to the other door to help her very drunk girlfriend.

“All right, you.” said Steve waiting for Y/N to get out of the car while he opens the door for her.

“I can't walk, Steve.” said Y/N in almost a whisper like voice.

“Before, I had to drag you kicking and screaming, but now you want to be carried? no.”

“It's a woman's right to change her mind.” says Y/N with her head out of the car.

“Ah, but tonight you're one of the guys, remember? and guys walk. So come on, number four. Out you get, watch your head.”

That's when the Y/H/C girl tried to get out of the car with her boyfriend's help. “Uh...I don't really feel so good.”

Steve scoffed. “Well, guess what? you're going to feel even worse tomorrow morning. And you still won't be any closer to getting into the ivy-covered institution of your choice.” he said with a mocking smile that didn't actually mean any harm.

“Steve. I've been doing some thinking.” Yup. this was really happening.

“Yeah. Drunk thinking…” that made Steve nervous to say the least.

“Maybe… maybe that's not what I really want. Maybe I just want to stay here. You know, I mean--I mean, look, it's--it´s really beautiful here and...and I could just--”

“Just what? Stay here and work as a waitress all your life? Come on. Forgive me if you're losing me here, Y/N/N, but to be perfectly honest, you haven't made the slightest bit of sense all night, even before you were drunk--”

“I wanna be with you, Steve. I wanna stay and be with you.” she said with a tone of sadness in her eyes. Sure, she wanted to leave Hawkins behind for good but the idea of losing Steve because of it scared the crap out of her.

Steve sighed. “Baby, if you wanna be with me, then staying here would be a really stupid idea, considering I don't plan to be here, I plan to be wherever you are.”

Y/N's sad frown turned into a very happy drunk smile. “Really?”

Steve couldn't help but smile himself. “Yes. Really. Not that you deserve to hear such things right now.”

Y/N sighed while they finally stopped leaning on Steve's car and started walking to her house. “I know, I know. It was a very stupid thing to get drunk.”

“Yes, it was. I mean let's face it here, Y/N/N. You are destined for academic glory, and your boyfriend is circling the drain, which is a problem. In fact, that is a very big problem, but you couldn't possibly have thought that you could solve all your problems in one night, with alcohol of all things.”

“No…” said Y/N with a shy voice.

Steve decided to keep going with his thoughts. “No. Because alcohol, you know, it has that effect on problems. It just never solved them, ever. And I would hate to think that I fell in love with a moron.”

Oh, that definitely caught Y/N's attention making her turn to face her boyfriend with that drunk happy smile that she gave him earlier.

“So, you're in love with me, huh?”

“Well, not currently, no. Right now, you're just some crazy drunk girl I got to get in that door without waking up her parents, but generally speaking…yes.”

Y/N laughed. “May I kiss you right now?”

“Yes, please.” said Steve with a wide smile.

“Mm-mmm-mmm! But I'm still not carrying you.” Steve murmured between kisses.

Y/N pulled back and whispered in his ear. “Please.” with the most adorable pouty face Steve had ever seen.

Y/N started giving him puppy eyes hoping that would convince him.

“You can give me the eyes, it's just not gonna work.”

“Nope.” Steve laughed.

He pulled away from the kiss. “Halfway, that's it, I swear. I'm not kidding. My back's killing me here.” That made Y/N grin uncontrollably.

She started kissing him again.

“Oh, come on, honestly, you don't-- Y/N, do you think I'm gonna fall for this? Y/N/N…”

“Well, I guess since we're up here...”

Steve ended up carrying Y/N all the way to her room after he found the spare key of course. Even though he tried to act tough, there's nothing he wouldn't do for that girl.

What was seen as an outlandish idea two years ago—that frozen Russian assets could be used to pay for war-torn Ukraine’s reconstruction—is edging closer to becoming reality, in what could become a landmark precedent in international law.

Financial institutions in the United States and Europe hold about $300 billion worth of Russian state assets that were frozen at the start of the war and which, if seized, could go a long way toward paying for the damage wrought by the invasion. The World Bank last year estimated the cost of that damage to be over $400 billion, and it has only grown since.

In the early days of the war, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen dismissed the idea of seizing Russian assets as not “legally permissible.” But the notion has seen momentum recently, in part due to Russia’s continued assault on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and in part due to growing concerns over the near-term future of U.S. and Western aid for Kyiv.

Last week, the U.S. Senate advanced legislation that would authorize the seizure of frozen Russian state funds, following a similar measure earlier in the House of Representatives. The Biden administration has backed the bill after carefully examining the legal ramifications.

Canada already has such a law in the works. The European Union has agreed in principle to the idea of seizing at least the interest earned from frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The G-7 will further discuss using Russian money to rebuild Ukraine at a meeting next month. And a gaggle of foreign-policy luminaries made the case for such a move just last week.

“We should be prepared to do some innovative thinking about how we use these resources to help Ukraine,” British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this month.

Such a move would be unprecedented in its scope, and it presents a complex set of legal challenges that critics fear could undermine the principle of state sovereign immunity and even erode confidence in Western financial institutions and currencies.

But the fight over the move from freeze to seize is important not just for the future of Ukraine and the calculus of Russian President Vladimir Putin today. Leading scholars of international law argue that confiscation would set a positive precedent while failing to do so would constrain future efforts. “Whichever decision is made, it will become a defining precedent whenever future aggression is confronted—and a decisive factor in the frequency with which such aggression again threatens civilization,” Harvard University’s Laurence Tribe and colleagues wrote in a seminal paper last fall.

Similar appropriations of state assets have happened before, most notably the United Nations-sanctioned U.S. seizure of billions of dollars of Iraqi funds that were earmarked for reparations for Kuwait in the wake of the 1990 invasion. The United States did something similar, on a much smaller scale, with a portion of frozen Afghan central bank funds after the Taliban took over Kabul in 2021.

But the potential seizure of hundreds of billions of dollars—roughly half the total assets of the Russian Central Bank at the outbreak of war—would be a significant change in how countries respond to aggressor states, with the ability to reshape international law with an eye to future conflicts.

“I don’t see a legal obstacle. There’s clearly a moral imperative. And any economic risk can be mitigated by countries doing this together,” said Harold Hongju Koh, a former State Department legal advisor in the Obama administration and professor at Yale Law School, who is advising Ukraine in its cases before the International Court of Justice at The Hague. “If everyone does it together, it creates a new precedent.

“Every single attack, and every bit of damage, was exacerbated by Putin’s lack of restraint, so you want to create a system where there’s a deterrent—if there’s a future dictator who understands that every such decision adds to the amount of money they’re going to have to pay back, they might decide differently.”

Russian officials are gearing up for a fight in the event the country’s assets are seized, threatening legal action in courts in Europe and the United States. Putin already signed a decree in December seizing the Russian assets of a number of European companies, including those of the Danish beer company Carlsberg and the French yogurt manufacturer Danone. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has warned that Moscow has a list of Western assets, reportedly nearly as large as the frozen Russian funds in the West, that could be seized in retaliation. A spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry dismissed the potential move as “21st-century piracy” this month.

But even though momentum for asset confiscation is building, it’s not a done deal by any means. The United States holds only a small portion of the frozen Russian assets—with estimates of between $40 billion and $60 billion or so. The vast majority are held in Europe, especially in Belgium’s Euroclear financial clearing house, but the EU and most member states are lukewarm about the idea of moving to outright seizure of Russian funds, fearing retaliation by Moscow. Proponents of the asset seizure agree that the move would be much more effective if done collectively, rather than by one or two countries, both in terms of the dollar amounts involved but also in collectively defending against any potential retaliation.

Debate around the seizure of Russian sovereign assets has mirrored that of many pivotal decisions taken by Ukraine’s Western partners during the course of the war—including decisions to send tanks and offensive weapons to the Ukrainian military. In a pattern that has played out many times before, Washington and London have come around on the question before cajoling an anxious Europe to join forces.

Meanwhile, Ukraine worries about not just the cost of future reconstruction but also the continued flow of Western, especially U.S., financial and military aid due to Republican obstructionism in the U.S. Congress.

“We need to get to the moment where we can reconstruct the country, and unless we have the money to defend ourselves, we might not get to the point where we can reconstruct ourselves,” said Illia Chernohorenko, a former official at the Ukrainian Justice Ministry and former advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. His parents were bombed out of their apartment during the first month of the war and have been refugees ever since. Chernohorenko is now getting another doctorate in international law at the University of Oxford, researching issues such as moving from asset freeze to asset seizure.

But before Ukraine can get its hands on that money needed for rebuilding, questions remain about the legality of such a seizure. The United States already has the authority, under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to confiscate state funds; the new legislation currently before Congress is just meant to clarify that authority and specifically earmark its use for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Other countries, such as the United Kingdom, would need to pass new legislation to be able to move from freezing assets to seizing them.

One of the main objections to the plan, from both Moscow and some Western legal experts, is that such asset confiscation could violate Russia’s sovereign immunity. Seizing assets of individuals and private companies, such as those on designated sanctions lists, presents few legal issues. But seizing funds belonging to a sovereign state’s central bank could, critics say, run afoul of the idea that states are essentially immune from legal remedies and would itself be a violation of international law.

Proponents dismiss those concerns. For starters, they say, sovereign immunity only applies to states facing judicial action by other nations, not executive or legislative remedies. More to the point, they say, Russia, by its illegal invasion of Ukraine and widespread and well-documented commission of war crimes, has essentially forfeited its right to be treated as a sovereign, the same way sovereign immunity is waived when state corporations engage in business fraud.

“You can’t act like a private murderer and say, ‘I should be defended like a sovereign actor,’” Koh said.

Others have argued that the line, such as it was, was crossed when the funds were frozen at the outset of the war. That’s one reason why many are sanguine about concerns of capital flight away from the Western financial system.

“What are you talking about, ‘the sanctity of sovereign funds’? We’ve crossed that line, let’s not kid ourselves,” said Daniel Fried, a former U.S. ambassador to Poland. “The Chinese saw what we did, the Saudis saw what we did, and they didn’t pull their money out of our banks.”

Another big issue is the so-called doctrine of countermeasures. In theory, a state that suffers a violation of international law—such as an illegal invasion—has the right to redress that wrong, even if that means temporarily violating international law itself. What’s more, if the aggressor state has violated universal norms, such as the U.N. Charter, all states have the right to resort to countermeasures. That’s the basic rationale that proponents point to for the move from collective asset freezes to outright seizures.

The tricky part is that countermeasures are meant to be reversible. If Western countries do move to seize Russian funds and distribute them to Ukraine, the measure would clearly not be reversible. Critics say that’s one reason the move could be counterproductive: With the funds disposed of, Russia would have little incentive to end its war in Ukraine.

But proponents of confiscation dismiss that concern as well, principally by arguing that any such distribution of funds to Ukraine can be seen essentially as a down payment by Russia on the war reparations that it would be legally obliged to pay in any event but likely never will voluntarily. Since the war damage already far exceeds the $300 billion or so in Western hands, giving the money to Ukraine is for all intents and purposes reversible because Russia would have been on the hook for that and more at some time in the future anyway.

There are also practical considerations. The Russian funds are held in many different countries, in many different forms—securities, government bonds, and so on. That could complicate efforts to turn Russia’s frozen riches into usable funds for Ukraine. And unlike in 1991, when the United Nations organized a compensation fund for Kuwait, the Russian veto in the U.N. Security Council means there’s no chance of a similar entity being created this time around.

That means the United States, if it goes ahead, and any other countries that join would have to establish some sort of ad hoc fund to administer monies for Ukraine; for the disbursement of $3.5 billion of Afghan reserves, the United States created a commission in Switzerland. Current legislation under consideration on Capitol Hill—the REPO Act—would, if passed, create a Ukraine Support Fund for reconstruction and humanitarian assistance.

The lingering legal questions, fears over Russian retaliation, and concerns that asset seizure could undermine global confidence in widely used currencies such as the U.S. dollar, British pound, or the euro are just some reasons that Europe is moving more cautiously on this issue. The latest proposal, which could be finalized next month, involves taking only the proceeds of frozen Russian assets—interest accrues to about $3 billion a year—and using that for Ukraine. Proponents of outright confiscation say the EU compromise measure is too small to make a dent in Ukraine’s huge reconstruction bill and also faces the same potential legal challenges as more vigorous actions.

As Russia’s war on Ukraine, the biggest challenge to the international order since World War II, staggers into its third year, it’s becoming clear that Moscow’s actions are reshaping more than frontiers and front lines: They are potentially laying the groundwork for a seismic change in international law. Sovereign impunity, after this, might be a thing of the past.

“They started a war, and they’re going to hide behind law? No, thank you,” Fried said.

A: Attention

Erwin is really attentive and pays a lot of attention to small details. He's the kind of person who remembers a lot of small details, and will hardly forget his schedules and plans.

However, due to his attention to detail, some people might find that Erwin is nitpicking too much. People might also think that Erwin is micromanaging too much as he wants everything to be perfect and in order.

B: Behaviour

Erwin is always calm and collected no matter the situation. He is always polite to people younger than him and respectful to those older than him as well.

Erwin is always the most grounded in his circle of friends, and people tend to depend on him due to how knowledgeable he is too. Erwin is very sensible and intelligent, and hardly does anything that would harm his image.

C: Career

With Erwin'a charisma and great leadership, he would do well in organisations that requires discipline and order, such as the military, the police, or the navy. He would be a very persuasive and charismatic leader who leads with knowledge and compassion.

I can also foresee Erwin doing really well in a political career. He is extremely persuasive and charming, and he can easily garner support from the general public and citizens as well. Likewise, he would also stand firm in his beliefs and work for the rights of the people.

Erwin would also do well in the corporate world, such as opening up his own business, working as a financial advisor, or a fund manager. He makes daring moves and investments, and even though they might be risky, Erwin's wit always bring the organisation he is working for to new heights.

D: Dating

I think Erwin would be someone who enjoys going on classic dates like in the good olden days; a dinner and dance, a late night movie at the outdoor cinema, a walk in the park. He loves spending quality and undisturbed time with his lover, and he loves diverting all his attention to them.

However! Erwin finds thrill and excitement in other kinds of dates too; arcade dates, shopping dates, beach dates, hiking dates just to name a few. As long as he's with his lover, anywhere would always be the perfect date.

E: Energy level

Erwin's mood is always calm and relaxed, so he doesn't have random bursts of energy. He's always on-the-go, and he is always doing something.

Erwin hardly has mood swings as well, unless he is too stressed up at work. Erwin does not really like surprises and impromptu occasions, and he prefers having a plan than to work on spontaneous bursts of energy. Therefore, Erwin would also behave as such, and he is always predictable and easy to go along with.

F: Fashion

I feel that Erwin would have a preference for long sleeve shirts, knitwear, and sweaters. He would like to wear light coloured clothing too. Colours like khaki, beige, ivory, and mother-of-pearl would look very nice on him. Baby blue and sky blue would complement his eyes too.

His wardrobe has a large variety of business suits, formal wear, and also more casual button-ups and tailored trousers. Erwin's wardrobe is more colourful during the spring and summer.

I also feel that Erwin is the kind of person who collects watches, and he has many watches for different suits and occasions.

G: Games

I don't think Erwin plays a lot of games, and he isn't interested in them as well. However, he might just give in to peer pressure and join Levi and Mike on games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty.

Erwin would probably enjoy playing card games like Blackjack and Poker, and somehow he manages to bluff really well. He would also enjoy strategy games like chess, shogi, go (wei qi), and reversi.

H: Hobbies

Other than reading and chess, I think Erwin would enjoy exercising a lot. He does a mix of aerobic and anaerobic activities, and running is his favourite. He usually goes to the gym with Mike and Levi where they would help to spot one another while at the weight machines.

I think Erwin would secretly enjoy crocheting too. It's hard to see Erwin sitting down for hours crocheting something, but Erwin is really good with his hands. He sometimes crochets gifts for his lover too.

I: Interior

I can foresee Erwin's house to be really wide and spacious, with not too many decorative items and furniture. Erwin would have paintings hung on the wall, and there would be bookshelves around the house too.

Erwin's bedroom is really simple, with a single bed, a small armchair by the window accompanied by a floor lamp. Erwin spends most of his time in his study/home office, where he would spend the most effort to maintain as well.

His home office would be bright and well-lit, with bookshelves by the wall too. Erwin has a preference for white lights and he loves opening his window during the day too.

J: Jealousy

Erwin would definitely not be a jealous lover, for he trusts his partner wholeheartedly. He doesn't worry if his partner is going out with friends of the opposite sex, as long as he knows where they're going.

However, Erwin can be a little possessive, especially if he sees someone hitting on his partner. He would switch from a calm demeanour and become a little stern, exerting dominance over the other party so that they know his partner's taken.

K: Kinks

You can't deny this, but Erwin definitely has a size kink. He finds his smaller-sized partner really desirable, and he loves how protective he can get over his partner.

Also, Erwin really loves holding his partner by their waist. The subtle act of putting his hand around their waist, or on the small of their back while walking makes him feel really 'manly', and he can be protective of his lover too.

During sex, Erwin would be a really gentle and sweet lover, always making sure his partner is feeling good. However, he definitely has his rougher moments too. Erwin would enjoy taking his partner from the rear, and he would get so turned on whenever he pulls his partner up by the hair or limbs so that he can take a good look at their blissful face.

Erwin is someone who wouldn't hesitate to spend his money on his lover. No, he doesn't necessarily splurge, but he loves pampering his lover with purchases. Erwin wouldn't let his lover spend a single cent.

Erwin would also enjoy spending undisturbed time with his lover too. I feel that Erwin would sometimes be too engrossed in work that he forgets to separate work and personal time, so he would really appreciate spending quality time with his beloved. Even though it's activities like watching tv, cooking, or even doing chores, he appreciates all the little moments spent together with his lover.

Erwin would be so good at giving his lover words of affirmation! He loves singing praises of his lover, and he loves encouraging his lover with his words too.

Erwin would look forward to married life so much. To him, it's more than being lawfully wedded under the law. Getting married means a commitment to spend their lives together, and a decision to be devoted to his lover for the rest of his life. It is also a promise to be by each other's side, supporting each other in everything in life.

Erwin would have an elaborate wedding proposal; he would enlist the help of his friends to make the occasion perfect. He would probably bring his lover to a place with sentimental value; like the place the went on their very first date.

Erwin probably got nasty nicknames in school because of his thick prominent eyebrows, but he definitely doesn't mind them. He even thinks they're funny (Mike called him Eyebrows, Levi called him Shitty Brows).

Erwin would be pretty well-natured and doesn't have much of a bad temper, but do not make him angry! He would flare up and shout at the top of his voice when he's angry, and his anger would last a long time as well.

Erwin would be the father who always tries to educate and be there for his children, just like how his father had been there for him when he was younger. Erwin would be the role model in his children's lives, showing them all the right examples and teaching them the right values and morals.

Erwin would also have his fair share of being a fun parent without forgetting about education. He loves bringing his children to the museum, science centre, planetarium etc for them to learn and expand their knowledge while also having fun.

Erwin wouldn't have preferences for a daughter or son as well, but I feel that he might be sliiiiiiightly biased to having an elder son and a younger daughter.

Q: Quirks

Erwin would unfortunately be a snorer, a very loud one too. He's constantly working and always busy, and he snores really loudly. Sometimes he even scares himself with how loud he sounds too.

I feel that Erwin would also tend to rub his eyes a lot too, because of how dry they always are. He knows it's a bad habit, but he can't help it. He carries eye drops around with him all the time.

For some reason I feel that Erwin prefers eating white meat opposed to red meat, so you'll see him enjoying chicken and fish more than others. However, he definitely wouldn't say no to a nice steak! Erwin's favourite fish is codfish, and he likes eating seafood like shrimps too.

R: Romance

Erwin is 10/10 a very romantic lover! He would remember the dates of anniversaries and birthdays at the tip of his finger, and he would plan for these celebrations way ahead too.

Erwin would pamper his lover just the way they love and want without asking for anything in return. He would be a very devoted and loving partner as well.

During sex, I feel that Erwin would pay a lot more attention on the foreplay and build up than the actual sex. He loves to pleasure and slowly prepare his partner, and he loves making his lover feel good as well. Erwin would prefer to be the dominant one in bed, but he wouldn't oppose to switching things up once in a while too.

Erwin wouldn't enjoy sweet stuff too much, but he definitely enjoys eating baked goods like cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cakes, and doughnuts. Erwin loves taking his coffee black, and it goes well when he's eating a sweet treat as well.

I feel that Erwin would enjoy visiting somewhere warm and sunny even though he doesn't really like the heat. Erwin loves listening to the waves, and loves being near the sea too. He would enjoy visiting countries in South East Asia, such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore.

Erwin probably grew up in the city, therefore he would love visiting countries that have a slower-paced of living as well. He would enjoy strolling around the city, visiting historical sites and learning about the country's history, study their architecture, and learn about the cultures of the people there.

Erwin loves the summer! He would enjoy getting a little tan, and he loves wearing thinner shirts during the hotter days as well. He does complain about the heat occasionally, but he loves the longer summer nights.

Right away, we see that Jay is quite a sensitive person. He gets hurt very easily by people's words and actions, and carries that with him for a long time afterwards. At times, though, he might misunderstand and take things to heart when there wasn't even an issue to begin with, but, really, it's just that he is soft-hearted and has trouble letting go of past negative experiences (which could be similar to these misunderstandings, and so he jumps to conclusions based on that). On a more positive note, Jay is also a very patient and hardworking individual. He's conscious of the value of waiting for your rewards and planning for the future, and so he keeps that in mind all the time. To manifest his ideas and goals, he knows that he must persist and put in work every day, diligently; and that if he simply were to follow his impulses without planning, it could all fall apart as soon as it started.
