The Threshold

She hovered along the lakeside path, a bittersweet air surrounding her. Her white gown flowed gently in the mid-October breeze. Bats flickered playfully around her head; comforting, quiet company. Solemn nostalgia trickled down her spine and filled her cold veins, yet in the darkness she was content. She was a ghost in place of the fog, under the dim blue-gray sky. Bliss never felt so cold, yet the cold was never so welcome.

Pausing atop the bridge, she stared into the dark water, contemplating. Never had she felt so full of emotion, yet entirely at peace all at once. No judgment, no remorse, only gratitude. At ease. After casting a glance at the distant city lights, she continued on her way. Not sure where she was going, nor from where she had come, all she knew was that her journey hadn't ended, and thus a slither of excitement creeped into her soul once again.

But because it means safety. #Because it was something he was denied and the idea of not having control in his life again is unforgivable. #'Happiness' isn't a goal. We are looking at someone still stuck at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. #Everything and everyone is a piece in a game. Bonds and friendships are assets. People are dispensable. #He wants to climb for the sake of climbing. He wants praise and recognition because he feels it is deserved. It's all so hollow. #We could go deeper into his psyche on this. #But these are also tags under a comic in which 'evil penis music' is the punchline.

Jazz is wandering Gotham with Danny after their parents visited the city for a convention but left them behind in the excitement of one of their ghost traps going off on the other side of the country.

The hotel they were staying at kicked them out not caring if they had a place to stay or not, only caring that the source of money had left.

Jazz couldn't show how scared she actually was, not when Danny was looking at her with complete faith that she could somehow fix this.

How he managed to keep that faith after a day of jumping at shadows like they held enemies and vending machine food for lunch was a mystery.

She's tired, she's stressed, and she needs an adult.

Like an actual adult and not her much loved but very scatterbrained parents, Vlad did not count either.

was rewatching fabian’s baron moment on account of it being the most delicious piece of pvp in my recent memory and ally beardsley’s growth as a player just shone through so brightly and with such clarity. after dusting off their shock they immediately asked about the nemesis ward, had enough knowledge about fellow pcs stocked to remember adaine’s ac with such like frustrated confidence and certainty, suggested to siobhan to dimension door out of adaine’s room, like. they came into this making a character with 4 dex. and now the dice deity offered to roll a check to sense if adaine was in danger. making decisions, asking questions, getting invested in the story, trying so hard with the tools they have to save characters from danger; ally beardsley is an incredible d&d player.
