Snapshots Masterlist
Quinn Hughes x ofc
Are Quinn Hughes and Sarah Roberts fated to be together? It seems like it. Follow their journey from a spur of the moment first date to falling in love and all the good and bad in between.
These snapshots are written in whatever order strikes my fancy, but there is a loose timeline they fall into. I've listed them in both timeline and posting order. There are some timeline inconsistencies that will be edited as needed. In the meantime, let's just agree to pretend they don't exist. Also, the season the Canucks are playing in is obviously fictional and doesn't follow any actual season.
• Please be aware, this series deals with a lot of grief.
The Snapshots playlist can be found here.
Other work can be found on my Fanfiction Masterlist.
*indecates smut

The grand unified theory of Good Omens S2 hangs on - you guessed it - a double meaning (and art). *Part 3*
Part 1 l Part 2 l Part 3 l Part 4 l Part 5 l The End? This is major spoilers for season 3 territory. You have been warned. I'm also going to split this into parts because wow, I have so many ✨Clues✨! My peeps, before I show you the prestige, we need to discuss Maggie. Maggie is SO WEIRD.
Tumblr media
Right up top we get her telling us this. Who loves something since they were a baby? Since you were a kid sure, but how can you remember loving something since you were a baby?
Tumblr media
This one's fun. The double meaning here is 1) I was a huge uptight nerd so I never went to parties and/or 2) I wasn't a human teenager so I never got to go to your earth parties. But check out when Nina and Maggie *first* meet in her coffee shop. We spend a lot of time in this scene, because it's framed as a meet cute, but it's also full of weird dialogue.
Tumblr media
So i'm not a writer, someone feel free to tell me I'm wrong, but Maggie is remembered by Nina AS A COFFEE. She IS a skinny latte. This works on two levels again. 1) You're not important enough to me to remember you as a person, just as an order. 2) You do not fit into my memory of people I know, but subconsciously I remember you as NOT a regular human.
And then again when she leaves the shop, Nina isn't paying attention and just sort of subconsciously replies:
Tumblr media
Again, two meanings. Maggie is unimportant to her, Maggie is also a *coffee*.
Which is weird, because as far as I can tell Maggie never drinks a coffee, or anything for that matter. Sure she orders stuff in the shop, and is offered food and alcohol, but we never see her actually drink or eat any of it. She stirs the tea but never takes a sip.
Tumblr media
So what IS Maggie then? Many people have pointed out that Maggie and Nina are a coffeeshop AU of our heroes. Their visual presentation seems to be screaming Nina = Crowley! and Maggie = Aziraphale! And they *work* on opposite sides of the street and everything! So is Maggie just a stand-in for Aziraphale then, to make the parable work? Cool, then what's the parable?
Tumblr media
Uh oh. What possible AU fiction ends up with the main love interests breaking up with their toxic ex, dancing in a ball and fighting demons together and then... just not ending up together? An AU written by kind of a bad writer who wants to show the two lovebirds he's trying to separate that it will never work. Oh hey look The Metatron is here:
Tumblr media
Now, I think the same guy that has been adding bits and pieces in the past would have no problem adding stuff and/or people in the present to make a point. Maggie also seems to be pretty sure about quite a lot of things that I wouldn't be sure about, given the context.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maggie's knows it's not going to do any good, but she has to tell them anyway? Tell them what, that Nina and Maggie talked it out and never ended up together? Wow, what a great message. Thanks Maggie. Maggie isn't just a downer of an example though, remember she's also A COFFEE! Shoved in Aziraphael's and Crowley's faces, asking them to take it and help her since the beginning.
There's a concept in magic tricks called a force, where it seems like someone has free will ; to put a card anywhere in a deck, or pick a number, or volunteer, but actually the outcome has been chosen for them by the magician for the trick to work. The actual trick is about getting the person to think they've freely chosen to participate in the trick, not the act of revealing the card. The real trick was never making Maggie and Nina try to fall in love, it was getting Aziraphael to think he had freely chosen to help Maggie get this whole thing going. And if we know one thing about Aziraphael, it's that he's actually terrible at magic. Aziraphael has been primed to take the coffee in S2E6, because he's been taking the coffee the whole season. Ready for the prestige reveal after the force? We're going right to The Metatron in Part 4.

Movie Verse Super Paper Mario AU
Given how long my SPM comic has gotten, and the fact that it's about to become more obvious how much the story deviates from the original (particularly with DK filling the role of Bowser as a hero), I figured now would be a good time to put together a rough outline of the plot points in my AU.
This isn't required reading for my comic, this is just for everyone who wants some extra context and info about how my version of events differ from the original Super Paper Mario.
The story starts out with Mario and Luigi at home. Luigi is talking about how peaceful things have been lately, but unlike in SPM he has absolutely no desire to see this change.
Meanwhile, Mario is trying to pretend he isn't a little bored, and is quietly dropping suggestions that the two of them go off and explore some faraway kingdom to break up the monotony.
Suddenly, Toad bursts in in a panic, and The Mario Brothers are ushered to the castle as Toad hurriedly explains that Princess Peach has disappeared.
The three enter the crime scene: her bedroom shows signs of a brief struggle, but otherwise there is no clue to what might have happened except a letter that reads "If you wish to see the princess again, meet me within Bowser's castle" written in unfamiliar handwriting.
Despite this disappearance not matching Bowser's style at all, Toad and The Mario Brothers have little choice but to believe he has something to do with this. They decide to take the bait.
They enlist the help of Donkey Kong in the rescue mission, figuring it'd be best to have the extra muscle given how likely it is this is a trap (plus the karts are a more reliable form of transportation compared to the warp pipes.)
Despite the addition of a giant gorilla to the team, Mario & co. successfully sneak into Bowser's Castle undetected. The guards don't seem to be on particularly high alert. Stranger still, they can't find the princess anywhere.
When Bowser eventually discovers and confronts them, Mario explains the situation and presents the mysterious letter they found. Bowser is dumbfounded, but insists that whatever happened to Peach can wait until after he kills them.
Before things escalate any further, Count Bleck appears from a portal in sort of a rough recreation of this scene:
Tumblr media
Bleck is pleased to see everyone gathered together, and presents the captive Princess "as promised."
Seeing this, Mario immediately leaps to attack the count despite Luigi's desperate plea for him to wait. Like in the game, this causes Mario to get knocked out. Soon after, everyone is sucked away into the dimensional portal except the unconscious Mario.
Mario awoken by Tippi, who– after brief introductions– teleports him away to meet Merlon so they can work together to stop Count Bleck with the help of The Light Prognosticus.
Mario isn't sure how he feels about the idea of prophecies... he doesn't really buy into the idea, despite how much he matches the physical description in the book... but if playing along means Tippi will help him stop Count Bleck and save everyone, he'll do it.
Meanwhile, everyone else awakens to find themselves at Peach and Bowser's wedding. Toad, Donkey Kong, and Luigi do their best to interfere as Nastasia hypnotizes Peach into saying "I Do." Ultimately, Mario's allies fail, and the marriage unleashes the chaos heart.
From there, things continue much like in the game, albeit with a few changes:
As described before, Bowser's role is filled by Donkey Kong. Bowser, in the meantime, aligns himself with Count Bleck to spare his own army from being brainwashed, biding his time until he can usurp the count and gain control of the chaos heart.
Tumblr media
Toad is part of Mario’s group too. He isn't mentioned in the light or dark prognosticus, but he is determined to help out nonetheless (and actually does a pretty good job.)
Unlike in SPM, Luigi stays brainwashed the entire time. The first time Mr. L is defeated, Mario and his allies try to grapple him and drag him back to Flipside so Merlon can take a look at him, but Dimentio interfered and "rescued" Mr. L before they could manage it.
O'Chunks, Mimi, Dimentio, and Mr. L work together as a unit after failing their respective attempts to stop the heroes, leading to a couple of instances of all-out battle royale between Bleck's minions and Team Mario. Bleck's Minions, as dysfunctional as they are, don't succeed in stopping the heroes from obtaining any pure hearts despite their combined efforts.
The ending is where things really get switched up:
The main four, having gathered all the pure hearts, start heading to Castle Bleck to destroy the chaos heart.
In the frenzy of everyone preparing for the confrontation, Bowser... knowing that The Dark Prognosticus prophesied that The Man In Green would be the one to bring darkness to all... draws Mr. L away from the group and tries to kill him.
Dimentio, however, saves Mr. L, and working together they successfully incapacitate Bowser enough for Dimentio to send him back to his own dimension.
This rescue– plus the earlier rescue from the clutches of Mario– causes Mr. L to place misplaced faith in Dimentio.
Seeing this, Dimentio comes clean and asks Mr. L to join him in usurping The Count. He lies that Count Bleck has no intention of creating new worlds after destroying the old ones, and offers Mr. L a portion of his own power if he agrees to assist in making sure the universe goes on.
In my version of things, you have to agree to a partnership in order to get implanted with a floro sprout. It's sort of a contractual thing... one can't just plant something in your brain while you're unconscious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, Mr. L trusts him enough to tentatively agree to his terms and let him in. This is how Dimentio manages to get the sprout seed inside Mr. L's head.
Sure enough, after Mario, DK, Peach, and Toad defeat Count Bleck and his Minions... and just as Tippi begins to get through to the disheartened Blumiere... Dimentio and Mr. L swoop in to swipe the chaos heart and teleport away.
Mario, while rushing to grab his brother, is the only one who manages to get a glimpse of where they teleported to before both Mr. L and Dimentio disappear completely.
He keeps this information to himself as he and Count Bleck's forces hold a truce, tending to the wounded Nastasia and discussing what to do next.
During this meeting, Count Bleck finally answers the question that had been the minds of everyone on Team Mario: why brainwash Luigi? Count Bleck admits the prophecy in The Dark Prognosticus, explaining that he planned on using Luigi to destroy all worlds. What's more, he insists that if they really want to put an end to the chaos heart and the threat it poses, they will have to kill Luigi as well.
This sparks a heated debate. While everyone's shouting Mario says nothing, but silently slinks away from the group to catch up with Luigi and Dimentio on his own.
He knows that the two have merely gone into a chamber deeper within the castle. He knows where to look. If he can just get through to his brother, maybe he can be saved...
Which leads us right up to where my comic begins.

do you have any bloodborne fanfic recommendations? i trust your taste 💌
I'll admit I haven't read too much Bloodborne fanfiction and I want to (especially on Eileen the Crow and Fauxsefka) but I do have some recs. Warning in Advance that I am a Maria/Kos shipper so if you're not into that well a good number of these are moot.
Not listed in any order except maybe latest to oldest added to my bookmarks:
Carmina Abyssi by LunarLich (@nerendus) [KosxMaria] - goes hard man. idk where to begin to discuss it. The way Kos has a pre-emptive interest in Maria (haunting her mind) and the scene where Maria finds the Orphan in the corpse and Kos takes over to touch him one last time. Kos giving Maria an "out" but also Maria digging her own grave. There are so many details and symbolism and just urgh so good. Everyone knowing something is Wrong with her but no one knows/does anything about it.
lamprey by particulate - the atmosphere in this one is unmatched. The way everything feels slimy and gross and wet. Maria being a Sad Distraught Byronic Hero misplaced from some Victorian Romantic film, Gehrman Not Getting Her, Micolash being Micolash :/. Some details are very big oof.
Come, Let's Away to Prison by captainjackspearow is perhaps the first fic to make me consider the Gehrman+Maria Kos+Orphan and Moon Presence+Gehrman parallels in a serious light. Pity them both ngl.
Facile Oceanum by 0plus2equals1 [KosxMaria] is one I think of a lot. This one is so poetic and the description of the imagery is so vivid. And very dreamlike. OP also wrote some interesting Hunter/Annalise fic if I'm recalling correctly.
Ave Maria by xeboot is a Doll meeting Maria fic and one I keep thinking about a lot. Love the unsettling vibes from the Doll here, and the very dream-like logic going on.
Water Makes Many Beds by kiyaar is a Maria-character study and how she lived during the latter stages of her life. Really like the detail that she's contemplating suicide long before she actually takes the shot figuratively speaking.
How do you solve a problem like Maria? by Mosslynx (@pumpkaaboo) has my favorite depiction of the Hunter protagonist of Bloodborne. It is as inquisitive and strange and intellectual as I expect the Hunter to be. Also really like how the Doll is written, as all the references to the world outside of Yharnam being set at least decades after Bloodborne's in-game setting. The mystery of who is this mysterious Hunter is so well thought out.
waves by thalassashells is another character study. This one is a lot shorter, but man I am a sucker for imagery for fics in this fandom.
Ask me again when I start reading fics about other characters.

Contemporaries where dirty talk is especially hot? Both during sex and maybe also over text? Thank you!!
Sierra Simone, Sierra Simone, Sierra Simone. Her books are often set in a contemporary world, but they're not, as a heads up, "light" contemporaries. Personally, I wouldn't really go as far as to call them dark romance (well. Thornchapel, I would, but I also wouldn't recommend it as a contemporary as it has such strong supernatural elements lol) but they do have some elements of (light) mysticism as some of them are retellings of old myth set in a modern setting. I'd check out:
Priest, Sinner, Saint/"The Bell Brothers": These are three standalones (M/F, M/F, and M/M) that always have a bit of a religion kink. And a by a bit, I mean a lot. Priest is the book where a Catholic priest (who is actually very naturally carnal and only became a priest because of some deep guilt issues and religiosity) meets a woman who tells him ALL the shit she's done in confession. It's naturally dirty, and he naturally falls head over heels into an affair. Sinner is about a business whose best friend's little sister is about to become a nun, and she (on the advice of her convent, naturally) asks him to teach her about sex so she can experience what she'll miss before she really commits. Saint is about a guy who became a monk in a period of deep emotional crisis, whose ex-boyfriend (he left with zero notice) ends up on a tour of monasteries with him for an article he's writing. Temptation ensues.
The dirty talk in these is naturally very tinged with priest/nun kink stuff, it's SUPER dirty, and I love it. They're also just really good.
Her Christmas Notch books she does with Julie Murphy are a little tamer, both focus on this Hallmark-esque company where the leads film these Christmas movies and, of course, fall in love. I really, really love A Holly Jolly Ever After, because the hero is a former boybander (with a dad bod!) who fucks like a demon and also owns a chain of pizza shops, and his sex tape leaks, during which he's pictured absolutely RAILING a woman from behind, slapping her ass, and saying "and THAT'S how you toss the dough" which I personally think is some of the greatest dirty talk I've ever read.
New Camelot: One of my favorite trilogies of all time, MMF, "what if King Arthur was President, Guinevere was First Lady, and Lancelot was VP, and what if they were all in love with each other and entangled in an intense affair and IT WAS AMAZING". I reread scenes regularly. I love it so much. The dirty talk is obscene. You get the very cool "sit, stay, bark" dom dirty talk from one hero and the deranged "I'm going through it and you're going to go through it with me" passionate dirty talk from the other. Our heroine ain't half bad at it either.
Lyonesse Trilogy: The prequel novella and the first book are out now; it's a Tristan/Isolde/Mark MMF retelling. Mark is perhaps like... the dirtiest dirty talker Sierra has written. He's soooooo much. Like, if you want the condescending dom dirty talking hero, he's The One. The alternating between the "look how good you take it" stuff and "you're so desperate it's pathetic" shit. Why not both???
Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield has a TON of dirty talk, usually in the DD/lg vein. The hero and heroine roleplay dirty stepdad fantasies a lot, and the way they talk to each other is OBSCENE lol. And I love it.
Minx by Sophie Lark has some amazing dirty talk in the pet play realm. The heroine is an escort paid by the hero, and he has her dress up in a catsuit, wear a caller, drink milk out of a bowl while he calls her Minxie and a good girl and shit lol. I was into it. Idk if you'll be into it. Iiiii was into it.
Sara Cate's Salacious Player Club books have good dirty talk. They're sex club books that kind of deconstruct a different kink in each book (pleasure dom/sub in the first one, voyeurism in the second, MMF/bi awakening in the third, and femdom in the fourth... I'd stop after the fourth) and naturally are filled with dirty talk. Eyes On Me (the second book) may especially work for you because the heroine is a cam girl.
Possession by Adriana Anders has a heroine in a PR marriage with her famous husband end up in a kink camp with him after a scandal, and they... explore a lot. Including consensual kidnapping, an MFM threesome, lots of dirty talk... It's a lot.
Preferential Treatment by Heather Guerre has a heroine who becomes her billionaire boss's domme, so naturally there is a LOT of femdom dirty talk. We LOVE to see it.
Heated Rivalry & The Long Game by Rachel Reid make up a duology of hockey romances about the same couple (m/m). What I like about this is that you follow the same couple over like, a decade, starting when they're like 18/19, and they build up...? Their dirty talk? Like in the beginning, their encounters are more awkward, and then by the end they're using sex toys and like mild bondage and really KNOW each other and what turns each other on. Including the talk.

honestly I think the fandom makes assumptions with darkmilk that aren’t necessarily true
(and I’m now mostly saying this because I have been in other fandoms where I have encountered literally the same type of pairing as darkmilk and more people there are literally accepting so at this now I’m slowly dying inside for all the mental spirals I’ve gone through over the past two years)
I think darkmilk suffers from milk having 0 relevancy whatsoever so they haven’t bothered to actually write him as a full fledged character and just has the one quirk of “oh he really wants to find dark choco and he is very much a big fan.” So I think that’s why people end up making assumptions about milk cookie, especially about that one character trait, that isn’t very accurate
(ex. milk cookie would stalk dark choco cookie <- kind of bonkers when his original goal in CROB was to find dark choco cookie but after meeting Mala Sauce and finding out what’s happening, he’s the one to propose to help Mala Sauce while Purple Yam only wants to focus on finding Dark Choco. Meaning Milk was very willing to sidetrack to help someone )
This also applies to Darkmilk as well. One of the biggest assumptions is that Milk would not be able to let the past be the past, and Dark Choco would be really uncomfortable with Milk due to this (and that of his association to the past).
I’m not really here to debunk the first half because truth be told, I don’t know what Darkmilk’s dynamic would be like. I don’t know how Milk would react. None of us do. And it’s kind of the #1 thing I hate the most because people tend to just… assume darkmilk has to turn out completely awful no matter what even when nothing has happened at all. And it’s frustrating to me because 1) I feel like my thoughts and my voice and my story gets completely shut down (and it’s even worse because I honestly don’t think I agree with most people in this fandom about them anyways sooo…)
1.5) that assumption has been used for the past two years for people to hate on the pairing and honestly after I’ve kind of drifted away from cookie run and found other pairings like darkmilk? I’m just tired.
However, I am going to debunk “Dark Choco would be really uncomfortable with Milk” because the game actually kind of says otherwise through the Young Prince Ch 14 portrait (probably the best thing and only thing I’ll get because at this rate I’ll be dead before I get anything else)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the entire conversation between Dark Choco and Milk Cookie for reference as you read but here’s a recap to segueway into my point: Milk and Dark Choco are in front of the portrait. Milk starts talking about how the portrait inspired Milk to be the type of person and at the end of it, he calls Dark Choco a hero. In response, Dark Choco tells Milk he’s not a hero but also proceeds to thank him.
I’ve already written an analysis on this cutscene already and why Dark Choco responds the way he does but there’s something I realized and was reminded of when I found a different follow up analysis (that I’ll link a bit later) which is that actually this conversation between Dark Choco and Milk goes much better than what I or probably anyone else expected.
My initial expectation was that oh Dark Choco would have probably just said nothing or he would actually express clear discomfort from being around Milk. That’s what I was reminded of.
However, I realized while I was rereading that the last time Dark Choco has technically seen Milk was through a flashback during that Dark Mode scene. He was forced to rewatch his past memories and relive him slashing his father through Pomegranate’s magic. And because of that, he had a mental breakdown (more specifically it triggered his PTSD).
The most realistic expectation and conclusion based on what the game has provided us up to the release of Ch. 14 would be Dark Choco shouldn’t have even been standing in that room not just because Milk is there but because the Young Prince Portrait is hanged up on the wall and he’s standing in that very room. And don’t try to tell me “Oh what if Milk dragged him-“ Dark Choco wouldn’t be a pushover over his own trauma just because some guy he saved whatever amount of years ago really wanted to see it. He doesn’t hesitate to say how it is (and you can see that by how he immediately corrects milk when Milk calls him a hero.)
But if he wouldn’t want to or wouldn’t be comfortable in that very room, why is he there now with Milk? My answer to this which is more of a theory is that this portrait conversation takes place at an unknown time in the future where Dark Choco had already started to heal and most likely was able to make peace with however amounts of his past.
A point in time where Dark Choco willingly makes the choice to stand in front of the portrait and acknowledge that it still exists. The portrait still exists. The past can’t be erased but they have healed and can now acknowledge it without breaking down. I think the same thing goes for being in the same room as Milk. Remembering how he saved Milk was part of the flashbacks in Dark Mode. So realistically if he wasn’t ready, Dark Choco would just be avoiding him and probably wouldn’t have visited this room in the first place.
But yet there he is in the same room as Milk. Looking at the same portrait of himself with Milk and talking about it with him. The energy in the room is awkward and tbh that’s probably expected but if Dark Choco had truly been uncomfortable with Milk he would have left the room already and he certainly wouldn’t have thanked him for what Milk said.
I don’t actually know how to end this post. I’ll just throw in that Milk could be like 5x worse with his admiration but he’s not and he’s also *mild* when put next to the other two non cookie run pairings that’s been in my head recently and yet both of those pairings literally get development with them acknowledging aspects of their relationship and what they want out of it while *also still exhibiting the same intense admiration*. And they’ve been more accepted by their fandoms than darkmilk so like… I’ll just stare at my ceiling

So I pulled out the computer for this one. I finished my reread of WSTS and I'm going to scream here for a few minutes sooooo *clears throat* LET"S GOOOOO
Please keep in mind I am very much a stream of consciousness writer when I have an ask box instead of a comment box lol.
-(Harry didn’t sigh. He didn’t. He just breathed very deeply from the very depths of his soul.)
This is such a goddamn mood. Such a goddamn mood.
-(“Dad?”
Harry turned before the word had fully registered, opening his arms in time to get a lap full of sleepy seven year old with tangled blue curls and blurry green eyes that always made Harry’s heart ache to look at on the bad days.
“Have a nice nap, cub?” The international portkey had been hell on both of them, but poor Teddy had only made it as far as the front steps of the Japanese ministry before their head was dipping and they were leaning against Harry’s side. They had been out cold with their face tucked into Harry’s shoulder before he had figured out the train system.
“Is that Aunt Mione?”
Rude. Harry carried them for miles around Japan while they slept and all he got in return was being used as a piece of furniture as they talked to a mirror.
Parenting was rough. )
I melted and cackled at the same time. Teddy is absolute perfection. They receive all protection! fjeiaonlvfuaid The image of them crawling into Harry's lap for cuddles only to ignore him for the more interesting person. AHAHAHA perfect example of a seven-year old.
-(Harry was pretty sure the sound that Teddy let out could only be heard by canines. )
jdevrauigjklsdnd HOW DO KIDS MAKE SOUNDS LIKE THAT?!?! Like I've actually heard kids make sounds like that and I never understood that!
-(“You know I’m a hero too, right?” Harry muttered ----
He got a finger, painted with pink and blue polish courtesy of Ginny, poking his cheek for his efforts. “But, dad, they’re a cool hero.”
Ouch. See if he saved an entire society again. )
Parenting at its finest, cry laughing at this. No one is less cool than your dad. Not at all. I was this kid. My dad is a literal helicopter pilot and I was still like this.
-(Tom Riddle’s eyes had been dull and lifeless. Like congealed blood left to rot. Present Mic’s eyes were as far from that as possible.
They were red like a fire crackling away in a hearth. Red like the plush armchair he had tucked himself into countless times in the Gryffindor common room. Red like the family that had welcomed Harry with open arms and called him by their last name.)
So I'm obsessed with the entire first meeting between Ouroboros and Present Mic but this line right here. This absolute fucking poetry. HOW DO YOU DO THIS YOU MAGICAL WORDSMITH?!?!?! I could read this bit over and over and just ashdjiovnaorhgnjkr HOW?
-(“You called me in to make your final decision on if I’m fit to teach at your school, yeah? Have you reached your verdict yet?”
“You misunderstand me, Potter-kun. I am the one trying to sell our school to you.”
Harry blinked. Then blinked again.
What? )
Harry, love, you in fact are wanted. And about to find the loves of your life but moving on. WANTED!! Love how this is written, like the utter confusion comes across so clear!
-Vlad saying something rude and Harry immediately snapping back was amazing but Teddy chiming in in the most perfectly, childike oblivious way was just *chef's kiss* incredible. The sass!
-MINI BABY SHOUTA MINI BABY SHOUTA MINI BABY SHOUTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Yagi opening his mouth and saying the wrong and yet the right? thing. *beats head on table* My dude, not your business to tell!!! But right on the nose for the character. The whole scene though is brilliant!!!!! Like the sweet moment with Teddy then Yagi opening his big mouth only for Harry to share the horror of 'oh yeah, child soldiers. It's a thing. I would know. Exhibit A here.*Gestures at self*"
-Potter luck strikes again! But I have to wonder Shouta's thoughts around Harry's outfit during the first round of Potter luck. Short shorts and oversized sweater. Then of course, death happens ahahahaa.
-(but he figured that getting stalked together allowed some level of intimacy. )
How's that for a first date?! Oh hello, I'm going to drop in on you and btw you look adorable tonight? Shall I escort you for snacks and be stalked as well?
-(“I love you?” He tried, flinching back behind his hands as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“I love you too, bastard. I love you alive more, you fuck.” )
Yes Harry, you are in fact very loved and need to be very alive to feel that love. I absolutely adore the sibling energy here. Also Hermione calling him a fuck is comedy gold!
-(“He wouldn’t.” The words sounded weak to Harry’s own ears. )
This is so heartbreaking. Like he's already dealt with so much and to have to face the thought that someone he trusted that much could twist the knife already in his back. OOOOFFF
-(Whatever he was respecting the former number one to respond with it sure as fuck wasn’t laughter . “I believe you’ll find, Young Potter, that we heroes are a stubborn lot. UA heroes most of all.” )
foreshadowing future lovers??? I'm here for it!
-(some of his most cherished memories were the stolen moments in the twilight hours before the rest of the Burrow began to stir, moving in silent concert with Molly as she showed him new techniques and recipes that were too foreign or magical for the Dursleys to even consider allowing them into their home. )
So like, I absolutely love how this is phrased. It's so easy to pull together that mental image in stark detail from this. I'm going to keep saying it. You have a ways with words that is fucking magical.
-(Looking over his hoard, Harry had to admit that he, perhaps, had taken his avoidance a bit too far this time. )
As a stress baker myself, there is no such thing. Nope nope, I refuse to be called out. noooooo
-(All of them were hurting. Because of him. Always because of him. )
there's the martyr complex *sigh* My desire to reach through the screen and shake characters is strong here. Like sometimes people hurt for you too my dude.
-(Merlin, please just kill him. The hour or so of oblivion would be better than this . )
Too soon man! But oh my god I definitely laughed inappropriately loud at this.
-(He turned around, cursing as his shoulder caught his own door with a loud enough bang that he saw Teddy’s head pop around the corner to check out the noise. It wasn't enough to muffle the fond laugh from behind him. )
If this isn't the most relatable kind of clumsy. I have absolutely tripped over my own two feet in front of very attractive people and omg do you ever want to reset your existence.
- Okay the absolutely cute factor of Eri and Teddy in the same room is deadly. DEADLY. One can only take in so much sweet before the body just gives up!
-So the whole interaction with MagicEraserMic is amazing but some moments really shine. Shouta taking Harry's hand and not shying away from the scar, acknowledging that Harry's life as a whole has been ... challenging... Hizashi swooping in and helping Teddy while Harry gets to watch and absorb the moment. And the realization that Shouta and Hizashi offered him understanding, made him feel less alone is just aaahhh perfection. and to end it with that moment of levity with the battle over who gets to marry Harry for baked treats. All is just *chef's kiss* perfect.
-(“It’s alright I suppose.”
Black eyes narrowed at him. “Don’t make me get the spray bottle.”
Harry couldn’t help but snort at the idea of Shouta threatening him like a misbehaving cat when the man had nearly a foot on him and was nearly twice his size in pure muscle mass alone, but the very serious looks on both of the other heroes' faces had Harry holding up his hands in surrender. “Fine, fine. I’ll take your word for it.”)
AHAHAHAHAH all I can picture is 'bad harry!' spray spray and a very pouty master of death glaring at the two hysterically laughing, before busting up laughing himself.
-The trio always figures it out, even insulting each other along the way. LOVE THE SIBLING VIBES. Like seriously love them here!
So this is just chapter one through six and I feel like I need to stop and start a new ask soooo here you go! keep an eye out for the next one lmfao. I regret nothing here! ahaha
I am screaming I am crying I adore you I

There’s one underrated thing about Woody and Buzz as a duo, especially in the first movie that I really want to point out.
So we all know Buzz’s whole deal in the first is that he’s a toy that thinks he is an actual space ranger, right ? He thinks is the real Buzz Lightyear, and act like heroic space cop would : stern, altruistic,dare-devil, etc. Even after he realizes he’s a toy, he still keeps to the space hero persona, using sci-fi lingo and such.
Meanwhile, Woody has the opposite problem : he knows he’s a toy, but he doesn’t react like a cowboy would.
I grew up watching Steve McQueen movies and reading Lucky-Luke and Blueberry  comics, so i think got a rather clear-ideaof how a coyboy hero acts : a Cowboy Hero is brave, an one-army, quiet but quick-witted, calm under pressure, rough-and-thumble but still a bit classy, doesn’t show a whole of emotion. Cowboy heroes of old are like the Epitome of American Masculinity.
And oh boy Woody doesnt fit the description at allt. He’s wimpy, he yells, he whines, he cries, and he’s a motor-mouth.
Part of it might be that behind the scenes, Woody was thought up as random ventriloquist dummy first and the cowboy persona came much later in the process. He first role is to be the Everyman. Another explanation would be that unlike Buzz, who came up with his own backstory and univers written on his toybox, Woody was just seen and saw himself as a random cowboy doll. In the first movie, Woody being a cowboy is a cosmetic thing, he could have looked like a Mayor, or a Fire-fighter or anything else, what mattered is that he was Andy’s favourite toy.
There is something really funny about Pixar putting the role of Manly Man Cowpoke into an insecure ragdoll (a type of toy mostly  destined to little girls btw) who can’t even stand on its own.
And even when Woody becomes braver and adventurous at the end of Toy Story 1, it’s only during 2 that he starts to really lean into his cowboy persona, mainly because this time, we meet the Roundup’s gang and got a clearer look at Woody’s history. This is the movie where Woody starts acting a cowboy of old, riding his stead, lassoing objects and saving the girl.
All culiminates in 3 where Woody keeps in the role of Cowboy Hero -while still true to his own self, qualities and flaws-
So when Andy describes him as “brave, smart, like a cowboy should be” we believe him.

Dabi and Shigaraki both have issues managing their anger, and thinking about the two as a pair would probably result in a lot of toxicity and the like in people's minds.
But! Riddle me this:
They make each other better.
They get along, yes they had a rough start at their first meeting but every scene between the two after that includes very little bickering. If Shigaraki tells him to do something he does it. And though Dabi acts like a huge brat, Shigaraki doesn't snap at him about it. In fact, I believe the times he does snap at people it's never at the League, it's at either the heroes or the Liberation before he takes over it to become the Paranormal Front.
But I'm not here to argue about how they are sweet to one another in their own ways in canon. No, I'm here to spread a possibility as to how they avoid becoming a horribly toxic relationship. So here I present a beautiful bittersweet headcanon written out of my mind and heavily inspired by all the different versions of Dabi in the cosplay community.
Ever see the Dabi cosplays where his scars are presented in different styles of art or themes for holidays? You most likely do! Beautiful Candy Cane Dabi that is so strange but I oddly adore. And completely white scars, where he is given white hair and a white outfit, everything about it being uneasily alluring, especially if gold staples are used instead, sticking out so much. These versions are some of the many versions you may have seen!
CREDIT: kefi_cos on TikTok
Now where am I going with this? How exactly is this going to lead up to a headcanon?
Painting. Shigaraki and Dabi enjoy it, they used to create works of art on their own and were strangely good at it. But the two were raised to do everything they did perfectly which is why they strive to perfect every piece they make. But after AFO was taken and the base was destroyed, they lost a lot of the canvases they used prior, and we're unable to get more because going out in public would be idiotic of them, less they be captured and imprisoned.
So how did they solve this issue? At first, Dabi painted on his scars himself in private, doing so if only to make himself feel pretty. He hates how he looks, if he can cover up those ugly scars and turn them into art he can admire and be proud of, he won't feel ugly anymore.
One day, however, Shigaraki walks in on him painting his scars, and Dabi freaks out, wiping the paint off and feeling so, so ugly in that moment. Uglier than he ever did feel, and so ashamed like he shouldn't be doing anything of the sort. But Tomura reassures him, but not with words. They were never a couple who felt obligated to talk, instead they solve things without the need of useless words. Tomura picks up a paintbrush, and before Dabi can panic anymore than he already was, Shigaraki smears fluorescent blue over Dabi's scarred wrists.
And Dabi freezes, staring down at the mess of paint he'd smeared and ruined all over his chest, but he's so much softer staring at the beautiful blue contrasting the mess of colours across his arms. And without a single word, without so much as looking at each other's faces to get confirmation on if it was okay, they sit down in front of Dabi's full body mirror, and they paint a deep blue ocean over him, knowing full well that they are safe there, in that moment, together.
And as Shigaraki makes art on Dabi, Dabi feels more beautiful then than ever before, his own art could never compare to Shigaraki's, and Shigaraki was actually able to reach his back scars with ease, making him a fully completed art piece to be placed in museums and gawked at by those who only wish they could ever have him to be theirs. But the art is a mark, a mark that only Tomura would be allowed to imprint on him.
And from that moment on, they painted over each other's scars, and they would spend every moment in that room until they finished their painting for the day. Do not disturb them, for even after they finish, they sit and admire one another, feeling pretty just because the other wants to stay with them forever.

thoughts on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Watched some of the cutscenes on Youtube out of curiosity and it's exactly what anyone familiar with looter shooters was expecting gameplaywise. I leave analysis of that part to others, and will stick strictly to the story and how it pertains to Superman. Spoilers below.
Tumblr media
My biggest complaint from the start was "why isn't there a Superman villain on this lineup? It's set in Metropolis! It advertises a boss fight against him as the big hype moment in trailers!" Guess the reason was because he ends up almost being an afterthought. Despite the game being set in Metropolis, Superman is barely in the game. He shows up about halfway through, kills Wonder Woman and goes back to Brainiac's ship to heal after getting impaled with kryptonite, then comes back so the Squad can kill him. Since none of the Squad has any history with or connection to him, he and they just spout canned one-liners at each other, and when he dies none of them really care.
The deaths of the Leaguers are all underwhelming. Wonder Woman has the best one simply because everyone acknowledges that she was a hero and it sucks she died. Superman comes in second because they don't shit on him or mutilate his corpse, hell it barely even gets acknowledged. GL and Flash get the worst of it. Batman's death scene is a lame ending for the Arkham Batman, something Superman himself lampshades when he confronts the Squad. I'll leave those for others to pick over, mostly because I don't have much to say beyond "they're terrible". The fights themselves and interactions with the Leaguers vary.
Boomerang has a funny feud with Flash that actually builds hype for the fight. Harley and Batman obviously have major history that we've seen unfold on-screen in previous games. Meanwhile Deadshot and King Shark stick out like sore thumbs. Putting aside both the dumbass retcon of this guy being the "real" Deadshot, and how annoying it is that the black sharpshooter villain who pumps Superman full of kryptonite bullets isn't Bloodsport, Deadshot has this feud with GL that is a game creation. The two black supers get paired together because of their race, and it doesn't work at all. There's no comic history there for Rocksteady to lean on to do the heavy lifting for them, and it ends up feeling forced. King Shark is an MCU Drax copy, and while funny, doesn't add anything. Should've been Bizarro or a GL villain in that spot.
youtube
Switching back to Superman, holy fuck is he written terribly here. At first I was pleasantly surprised, in the main game he barely does anything because he resisted Brainiac's reprogramming the longest, which was nice. Sure it's bullshit that he outwilled GL, but fuck it he's been shitted on for so long that I'll take that minor win that he lasted longer than Batman. On-screen we only see him kill WW who will probably get resurrected somehow too, meaning he didn't come off too heinously here unlike his Injustice counterpart. Unfortunately my initial goodwill was shortly soured thereafter when I found out that Superman is the reason everything went to shit.
Reason the JL gets enslaved is because Superman is a fucking idiot who mandates everyone walk into the Skull Ship without planning for betrayal after Brainiac invites them in to negotiate. Sure GL agrees with him, but let's be real Superman is going to get all of the blame and he deserves it based on how he's written here. God, just because Superman is an optimist doesn't mean he's a moron for Christ's sake. This is a guy who can hear all the terrible things happening around the world every time he listens in, there's no way he's naïve. A Superman this goddamn gullible would be killed or enslaved by Lex in their first meeting. Even takes like MAWS where he's a rookie don't have him being this stupid. Rocksteady doesn't get the character at all, and after this game I hope they never touch him again. Why are the video game takes on him this shitty, between Rocksteady and NRS it's like the two of them are competing to see who can dump on him more. Rocksteady originally hired Paul Dini to help them with the script for Asylum and City, and I'm convinced any Superman game appearances needs to hire one of his comic writers because a lot of these adaptions do not get him. They need to hire Waid (he's written for video games before) or PKJ or Williamson to help with the script.
The story here sucks and the kicker is that even when they bring the JL back (don't even pretend you're surprised by that) in later seasons, Rocksteady has still utterly destroyed the Arkhamverse.
Tumblr media
I've seen people say maybe Rocksteady can continue the Arkhamverse with a new Batman game, or star one of the other heroes, and HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT? Batman and Green Lantern at the very least killed fuckloads of people! Batman is directing Brainiac's forces, killing plenty of people personally, while GL was leading massacres and rounding up metas to be transformed into monsters. In the DCAU, which the Arkhamverse heavily leans on, Batman retires in shame after merely pointing a gun at someone in self-defense. Arkham Batman murdered God knows how many innocents, we even hear him kill a guy talking to Lois over the radio. No fucking way could Bruce live with that and keep being Batman, the shame and guilt he should feel would destroy him. Same goes for all of the other Leaguers, especially Superman.
All of this is on Superman's head, the population of Metropolis essentially has been wiped out. Lois survives (somehow), possibly some of the other Daily Planet people do too, but there's no WAY Clark can return to the Daily Planet and resume his normal routine. His actions here are what happened at the end of Superman: TAS, when Darkseid enslaved him, on steroids. Everyone is going to hate and fear him after this, and frankly I feel like Superman would exile himself to space out of shame and guilt. You cannot do a "traditional" Superman game after this, and a prequel is pointless for the same reason people are angry the Arkham games now lead to Batman being brainwashed and getting shot in the head by Harley. Could do a hell of an Elseworld game where Superman is trying to rebuild the wreckage of his life after the JL is disbanded and Earth 2 Lex Luthor becomes the most beloved man on Earth. Make it so Lois and Jimmy are either dead or want nothing to do with him, and he goes to Warworld on a suicide mission to find redemption in death. But a "traditional" follow up also set in Metropolis? Nuh-uh, I don't buy it. The Justice League has to go the way of the Justice Society after fucking up this bad.
Tumblr media
Shame because he and Lois don't have bad designs (Lex and Brainiac on the other hand...). Metropolis itself is gorgeous and there are some fun Easter eggs that I've seen, never would've imagined Bendis' Invisible Mafia getting referenced. But after this shitshow of a game I want nothing more to do with this incarnation of Superman. Give the IP to another studio and let's make a game set in it's own universe like Monolith is doing for WW.

Hi , I hope you are doing well. I just want to ask, you have mentioned in one of your post Ginny's name symbolic for hinny being soulmates. please elaborate on that bit.
Thank u
Let's clarify something, I've never said this. I want it to be put on record.
[Also, thank you, I hope you are well, too]
What I did say is that soulmates dynamics usually rely heavily on symbolism. Because soulmates are not a proven real thing, unless they exist explicitly in the worldbuilding of the story, the author uses symbolism to communicate with the reader that yes, they are very conscious of what they are writing, it's written on purpose, those characters are meant for each other. Symbolism is also the literary translation of fate and destiny, obviously essential elements when talking about soulmates. Clearly, the whole symbolic level of narration means nothing in terms of the soulmates storyline if the dynamic of the couple doesn't support it (Harry and Ginny's one does).
Now, one of the many symbolic elements in Harry and Ginny's story is Ginny's name.
Let's see why.
Ginny's full name is Ginevra, an Italian name that comes from the ancient Welsh name Gwenhwyfar. Ginevra means bright spirit, or even bright elf (if someone is in the mood to write a LotR hinny AU).
Ginny throughout the series is often associated with light and warmth, both on a direct level and on a more metaphorical one, and in the last book, she is even directly described as a brilliant light. She Harry's light, she is life itself.
Therefore Ginny's name fits perfectly into the whole symbolic system around her character, a character who is actually one of the main columns of the symbolic system of the entire saga.
It doesn't end here, though.
Ginevra is the Italian version of the name Guinevere.
Guinevere happens to be the wife of King Arthur. The Arthur hero of the legend, like our Harry.
But here is when it gets interesting.
Guinevere is also pretty famous for having cheated on Arthur, this is the complete opposite of Ginny who has been devoted to Harry since before they even met in a way. Ginny has always loved Harry, even when she really didn't want to, and will always love him.
Does this mean that calling Harry's future wife Ginevra was a poor choice?
No.
Referencing a famous story, using it as a trope if you will, but then changing the ending is something that Rowling does on more than one occasion and various times specifically with Harry and Ginny.
Ginny running after the train and Harry looking at her in PS is reminiscing of many love stories, but instead of being a painful goodbye with a promise of a reunion, it's a hello. It's the first time they meet.
Harry saving Ginny from the Chamber is a situation built in a way that strongly references Orpheus and Eurydice but Harry, unlike Orpheus, manages to actually save Ginny.
In the break-up scene between Harry and Ginny, you can see the usual pattern of the hero breaking up with the love of their life because they consider themselves too dangerous, but usually what happens is that the hero lies about their own feelings in order to make sure the love interest stays away, a White Fang situation if you will. A type of scene that is reminiscent of the ending of the highly successful first Spider-Man movie (that came out only three years before HBP and might have easily influenced JKR) where Peter refuses MJ, and at a funeral of all moments. But with Harry and Ginny, Rowling once again adds her own twist. Harry doesn't lie to Ginny, he is extremely honest about his reasons and emotions, and even the things he can't tell her are things that Ginny already knows even if not in detail (that he's going after Voldemort).
In conclusion, Ginevra is definitely a name chosen very carefully. You can like it or not, but Harry and Ginny's story is one of the most clearly meticulously crafted dynamics of the series.
Tumblr media
Fun fact: the Italian version of the name is also associated with the juniper (ginepro in Italian). The juniper in many cultures - from the ancient Greek to the Celtic one - is linked to magic and protection (Ginny is a powerful witch, and one of her arcs is her being a protector of others). Particularly in Mesopotamian mythology, it was the plant of the goddess Ištar, goddess of sex and war, who could bring death and destruction but also love and fertility (Ginny's character is basically a delicate balancing act between harshness and sweetness). To add to this, her animal was the lion (Ginny is a leo).

How Loki staged an epic and chaotic fight between Loki variants
"Our approach with this scene — and the show as a whole — was: always take the crazy stuff seriously," director Kate Herron tells EW's The Awardist.
The time-bending, variant-heavy Loki was a heady watch from start to finish, but never quite so chaotic as the moment in episode 5 when dozens of Loki variants let the knives come out in an epic fight.
The sequence was always part of the storytelling but creator Michael Waldron tells EW that the writers left the specifics up to director Kate Herron and the stunt team. "It was painted with broad strokes," he says. "We'd written the important characters in there — our Loki, Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki. And then President Loki, we knew we wanted [him] in there as a nod to that great comics run. That was the one that I had certainly always hoped, 'Well, if Tom Hiddleston can play any of them, it'll be that one.'"
Hiddleston did play President Loki, a fact they used to mislead people in the show's trailers. "I liked the idea of sending the audience theorizing that this is going to be a story about Loki breaking bad even more," says Waldron. "When in fact it's the story of him becoming a hero. And when he meets President Loki, he's looking at him as, 'Wow, that's who I was, and that's probably who I'd still be if I hadn't met Mobius and Sylvie.' All of these Lokis, he's looking at them and he's really self-reflecting for the first time, like, 'Man, I don't know if I like who I've been my whole life.'"
From that self-reflection emerges a fight spurred by betrayals (and the show's protagonist Loki's desire to skip out on the mayhem altogether). "They're chaotic beings, so that was important for me in the fight," explains director Kate Herron of her approach to the sequence. "I worked with my stunt coordinator Monique Ganderton, and, basically, me and her were talking about, 'Oh, where could it be fun to put some of these fights?' We knew that in the script our Lokis had to get out of there and escape. So in terms of blocking, I thought, 'Well, let's put the portal at the top and then they can work their way around the room.'"
Adds Waldron: "The idea was to set up an opportunity for a bunch of different Lokis to be fighting dirty against one another, like everybody's got a gun pointed this way. That was the chaos that we tried to set up in the script, and then it was up to Kate to actually figure out, 'Okay, how can we make sense of this?'"
Waldron and Herron break down some of the fight's most memorable moments below.
Laters, Gators
When Alligator Loki chomps off the hand of President Loki, all hell breaks loose.
The reptilian Loki was part of Waldron's earliest pitches for the series, but he says it was Herron and the design team's approach that made it work. "Alligator Loki was something that was in there that could have been so stupid," he says. "It could have been thrown away because it didn't feel valid. I feel like the fact that it was brought to life in such a straight, real way is why it works and actually why it's so funny. They really take it seriously that there is an alligator there and that's why it's fun."
As they workshopped different renderings of the Alligator Loki, Herron says they arrived at this very realistic version as the best option. "It became funnier the more it just felt like a real alligator," she reflects.
Waldron conceived of this hand-chomping Captain Hook nod as the fight's inciting incident — and bringing it to life required a stuffed alligator on a plastic stick and massive commitment from star Tom Hiddleston. "We had it fly across the room and Tom would catch it," Herron remembers of the alligator. "But he let out this wild scream when he caught it. Everyone was trying not to laugh. I could never have predicted he would do that, but it was perfect."
Though other aspects of the alligator did require some tweaking. Namely, the level of damage he would do to President Loki's hand. "I remember we had a few different levels of that, and there was one that came in that was so gruesome," says Herron. "I was like, 'I don't think we can do that.' It was like The Evil Dead, it was great, but I was like, 'It's probably tonally not right for this show.'"
Fighting With Yourself
For Hiddleston to double as President Loki, he had to, as Herron puts it, "Parent Trap himself."
Hiddleston would act opposite a body double, with Herron reading lines off-camera. "You have to film it once with Tom as our Loki, and once as President," she explains, "and it was tight on time because it takes a long time to get those horns on properly."
Adds Waldron: "It's incredibly complex stuff to be doing on a television schedule."
"Credit to Tom, how good an actor he is reacting to that," notes Herron. "Basically it's a mixture of doubles. Sometimes you use a little bit of split-screen, but you are using all the tricks in the book really."
Magic To Do
As the trickster god, Loki has magic at his disposal, but only Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant) uses it heavily in the fight.
That was essential to set up his powers for the show's climax. "That's the early hint of his projection power," Waldron says, "which he'll later do on a much grander scale to trick Alioth."
But it was a tricky dance, figuring out just where to employ that aspect of Loki's power. "I knew I wanted Classic to have a moment," says Herron, "but I was working out where magic felt right, where they should be fist fighting, and balancing that with which fight beat we're seeing through which character's eyes."
A Mischief of Lokis
Costume designer Christine Wada helped Waldron and Herron devise the fight's gang of apocalyptic Lokis, including one with horns made from bicycle handles.
"She had a lot of fun building the horns," says Herron. "Maybe some of them had to rebuild them in the void — and how did they fight with them? You give the roadmap to your stunt coordinator and designers and build it with them."
Bareknuckle Brawling
The vast majority of the fight was shot in-camera, featuring stunts coordinated by Monique Ganderton, which was a deliberate choice to reflect Loki's core identity.
Says Waldron: "If you watch how Loki fights throughout the movies, he's magical — but he's always keen to use his daggers and his fists. He's not afraid to scrap it up. So, it's cool to show that side of all these Lokis fighting."
For Herron, it was a chance to let the incredible work of her stunts and design teams show off in a show that uses visual effects heavily in other sequences. "That scene was pretty much our stunt team getting to shine and showing what they do best," she notes. "We were painting out wires and things like that. It was [that kind] of effects work than anything bigger."
A Slippery Guy
The protagonist version of Loki is intent on avoiding the fight and escaping the hideout, picking his way through the brawl with a mischievous slink.
"The fun in this episode is you see who he could have become, and who he once was," notes Herron. "With the jumping through the fight, Loki wants to get out of there. He's got a very clear mission. That movement, Tom did that in rehearsal, and I found it very funny. It felt emotionally true."
That emotional truth was a guiding principle for both Waldron and Herron. "The North Star of this entire show was, 'There's going to be a lot of crazy stuff happening, never try to sell it out for the easy joke,'" Herron says. "This is what Loki's actually going through. And if it seems insane to us, it probably seems insane to him, and that's part of the fun of it. Our approach with this scene — and the show as a whole — was: always take the crazy stuff seriously."

How do you feel about LMK making it so that the Jade Emperor defeated and passed heavenly judgment over Sun Wukong in Xiyouji?
To be completely honest, it's what made me flip my lid, especially when *spoilers*
They killed the jade emperor??? Not only did they remove Buddha's play in SWK's punishment and made it so that he was simply too weak instead of he was too arrogant, but also killed such an important character in Chinese media that shouldn't be so easily killed? I don't think we were ever meant to root for the jade emperor, but watching that go down had me like
Tumblr media
The scene didn't even have some big fight. The Jade Emperor just said a couple words, took it like a champ and died which undermines his actual importance? Maybe it's the shock that's making me so upset over the questionable choices that the LMK producers made, but I feel like not even the little quips or actually decent animation can cover up.
I understand that this isn't supposed to be a direct copy and paste from JTTW, but to stray so far from the og story and still try to claim representation? I'm really curious about your opinion on it, no hate if it's different I actually want to know and hear you talk about it
I will say... underwhelming...
Like this is probs the first time I've seen a Xiyouji media that has written off Buddha completely like... it just brings up why? Did Flying Bark just really want their next villain to be so strong and powerful that he defeated the one entity that Wukong couldn't? Like??? Did they really try to brush off the religious aspects of Xiyouji where it is about FOUR MONKS (and a dragon) going to the west for BUDDIST SCRIPTURES?? While also meeting Daoist gods so??? Already you can't escape religion buddy... it's in there!
The point of Wukong being taken down by Buddha is to show that he has gone too far. He DEFEATED the Jade Emperor! He was about to kill him and take the throne before Buddha stepped in. Wukong is supposed to be the strongest and could destroy heaven with power alone and that is why he had to be stopped because powerful alone shouldn't dictate who is in charge.
And it just draws more questions considering that Xiaotian even said in one episode that Wukong DID pick a fight with Buddha but a chip was shoved in his mouth so... backtracking??? Rewriting?? What is going on?
This isn't the first media I've seen where Heaven/Jade Emperor is the bad guy, though in most cases he is just a guy doing his job cause SOMEONE keeps destroying the peach gardens, but I wish there was more nuanced with this. A lot of past iterations make it that Wukong is a freedom fighter trying to overturn heaven and those could be really good! Shows that Wukong is sticking up for the people of Earth and hates that the people of Heaven are walking all over that. He demands justice in an injustice world and has the power to make them be heard.
But it looks like Flying Bark was trying to go for that angle but also... it is kinda falling flat considering that they have already shown heavenly deities on the side of their heroes and so far no antagonist demons have been in the "right." Like they can't just backtrack and say "wait heaven bad guy?" If they are trying to make it that both Heaven and Earth have areas of moral grey then killing off the head of the Heavens with a "But wait there's more" is a very... clumsy way of depicting that.
I know Flying Bark did it for the sake of "Drama" but really feels more like a cope out just not to depict Buddha in a lego form or something inane like that.
I've kinda emotionally checked out of LMK for my own sake and while I still watch it and want it to have a satisfying ending I can't really say I'm on the edge of my seat for it either. It just feels like they are always trying to hype up more than they can deliver and I rather just be met with a simple 'that was fine' than get my hopes up in more disappointment.

Since its black friday i wanna drop a Brianna Blast about a story that i think Christians misunderstand.
Simon of Cyrene.
Who the hell is he? why is he only in some of the gospels?
Well, in Mark (which was probably the first gospel written) Jesus earlier says that if you want to follow him to abandon everything and follow him. He says you must be willing to take up a cross and follow him, it isnt gonna be fun.
By the time of the crucifixion in the gospel of Mark all of the desciples have abandoned him, one has betrayed him, and the closest claimed to not know him.
But some random dude off the side of the street is willing to literally take up a cross and follow him.
Also in Mark the first person who admits that Jesus is the Son of God is the roman centurian who just killed him. The disciples never get it
In Mark the authors whole point is that you have to connect the dots yourself, following Jesus wont be easy so you must be willing to die or at least forgo a comfortable lifestyle.
(The scene of the crucifixion is based on Psalm 22, quoting it frequently, but it wants you to figure that out for yourself for example)
And I think Simon of Cyrene exemplifies how the author of Mark sees Christianity, at least ideally. The disciples fled when faced with actual hardship but some random guy, who we know nothing about, was willing to do exactly what jesus asked without knowing him. The author of Matthew understands this enough to have his story about the sheep and the goats. But like... the author of Mark doesnt even have jesus appearing at the end of the gospel. You are told he rose and will meet the disciples later, like he told them would happen, but its not part of the text. You are left with having to wrestle with the text and figure it out for yourself.
And as someone who likes analyzing a text I think its brilliant.
(Btw hes not in John because that gospel is weird. Its a very theological gospel that isnt even attempting to tell the story in order. )
But...i just would like christians to actually understand the bible
Its a collection of different works that have different points and different things they want to say. The whole is the most influential book in the history of the world. Maybe they should try to understand what it actually has to say.
Also the book of Mark constantly portrays women as the heroes of its story. The male disciples flee, mary magdaline and co stick around. The poor widow gives more than alll the pharisees, but when told that the disciples just say the temple building sure is beautiful they cant wait to own it because they fundamentally dont understand for Marks view of jesus one has to suffer to follow him...and actually suffer not like how american fundamentalists think they do.

Writing Pattern Tag Game
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 posted fics and see if there’s a pattern.
(saw this on the TL, thought i should do it since i probably won't get to do it otherwise lol, so here we go)
1. i'll keep you close to me
Ray Pakorn is a rumour flying on the summer wind.
ship : sand/ray, only friends
2. here i stay, pray
It's a song Ray doesn't know. But it doesn't matter.
ship : sand/ray, only friends
3. secrets i have held in my heart
The sudden flash of want that zips down his spine upon hearing that quietly curls up and sits low in his belly as his eyes fall upon Sand's face, and that is the first time the thought creeps in.
ship : ray/sand, ony friends
note : the actual first line is a direct quote from sand in OFTS ep. 12, so. not counting that.
4. i dreamt of you last night
Amidst the pitter-patter of an unsurprisingly wet London afternoon, a pigeon outside his office window coos.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
5. take my whole life too
In the aftermath of it all, when Katsuki wakes up in the hospital, groggy with painkillers and various other drugs, he oddly still feels his right arm.
ship : katsuki/izuku, boku no hero academia
6. i'm feelin' heat in december (when you're 'round me)
This is the scene Aoyama walks in on when he is the last one to come out of the showers : The Urawa Reds Football Club is gathered in their locker room and the boys are on cloud nine — they have won the first game of the season and it's a very good start too.
ship : zaizen/aoyama, keppeki danshi! aoyama-kun
7. we'll meet in the spring
Moogyeong is forty-nine, pushing fifty, and is seated alone in a cafe with a cup of coffee that has long gone cold.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
8. and the world sang along to it falling apart
“Sir, we are here.”
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
9. just me and the stars can get lonely
There is a moon in the sky tonight, round and hanging low, bright like the bottom of a firefly, casting a soft glow on a sleeping town while Yohan sits awake and misses love.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
10. all my love to give
“I do,” Yohan’s voice echoes within the walls of the packed church.
ship : yohan/moogyeong, the shape of your love (manhwa, park nodeok)
pattern :
huh. okay, i have thought actually, for a long time, that there's some pattern alright but never gave it that much importance. i think it's mostly something that lands the reader right in the middle of the story? or at least like, bait, yanno? i don't like starting with too much descriptive text, that i am aware of. so it's mostly either dialogue or something that hints directly to the story so that the reader won't be bored to death before they even begin reading.
at least that's my usual thought process when i sit down to write. huhhhh.
I'm also very surprised i've written 41 fics till now. that's not a lot, but at some point when it was just 11 fics, i was wondering if i will ever write more. guess i did. this is also your sign to not quit your art!!! keep going!! fighting!!
(p.s. : I'm much happier with my writing now than i was when it was 11 fics, or even 20, or 30.)
tagging ;

(feel free to ignore this!)
(these are also the few people who i know have an ao3 for writing, apologies if you actually don't write and i got confused lol)

Alright I am back to talk about my boy Peet again, specifically how he was introduced in episode 2 of the Wingfeather TV show. He technically appears in episode 1, but it’s only for a few seconds (and I’ve written a different post about that here).
What I want to talk about is how his character is formerly introduced to the audience in episode 2, “The Mysterious Map”. Peet is in this episode for all of about two minutes but man did they pack a LOT into those two minutes. I’ve said before that every second he’s on screen in the first two episodes of the show is telling us something about him, so let’s take a look, shall we? (there shouldn’t be any spoilers for the books except maybe little teeny tiny ones, I tried really hard to make this accessible to new fans.)
We first properly meet Peet (and learn his name, if you’re new) when Janner goes into Glipwood Forest to retrieve Sara’s zibzy ball. Just as he finds the ball, a mysterious silhouette drops down behind him.
Tumblr media
Now, the lighting here is really interesting, because while Peet is in shadow and we can’t see him, there’s still a sunbeam shining down on him. So while his entrance initially seems sinister the lighting is telling us otherwise. This is very much a hero pose that Peet is doing here, and, interestingly enough, he’s also bowing, which he does a couple times in the very short bit he’s on screen, which means it’s a significant detail.
Tumblr media
You can see it even more clearly in this shot- the bowing and the sunlight streaming down on him. The imagery is telling us very clearly “this man is good, he can be trusted” (maybe even hinting that he has a noble heart, which anyone who knows the story knows is true). It’s giving us a positive impression of Peet before we know anything about him, even while Janner is still nervous. It’s telling us that while Glipwood Forest is dangerous, this man is not- at least, not to our heroes.
Tumblr media
And then we cut to THIS and first of all, have you ever seen a softer, kinder expression on anyone? Second, he’s still in the light- actually, that’s a theme with Peet in this episode; except for the first couple shots he’s in he stays solidly in the light almost the whole time. It’s even giving him a bit of a halo effect here, which is more imagery associated with good, noble characters. He is good and the story wants you to know that- needs you to know it, because they don’t have a lot of time here and we won’t learn much about who Peet is and his motives until the end of season 1 (if they follow the book’s framework there, which I’m assuming they would since there’s no reason not to).
In a sadder frame of analysis, it’s also pretty easy to see that Peet is… not doing great. We don’t know much about him at this point, except that he wears socks on his hands and does amazing acrobatics, but when we first meet him here you get a better sense of his mental state. Not only does he have trouble talking to Janner and act confused (“Oh, hey Peet, what are you doing here?” “Where? Oh! Here. Me.”) he’s also got bags under his eyes (to carry all the trauma), his hair and general appearance is unkempt, and if you look closely you can see what are either splotches of dirt, bruises or scars on his arms and legs which just. makes me worry about him even more.
The way he talks to Janner is also important. He doesn’t say much, but his voice is very soft, he seems to be whispering at first, like he’s afraid of scaring Janner away (;-;) and he only talks a little louder after Janner asks him a question. The way he’s framed in the shots of this scene, how he talks and how soft and gentle his expressions are all speak to the fact that he is kind and good. At the same time we find out about his mental confusion when Janner asks him what he’s doing in the forest and he doesn’t know how to answer the question.
So we have a mentally unwell, kind, noble, sort of weird fellow, who for some reason appears to Janner in the woods. We don’t know why exactly he jumped down from the tree to talk to Janner, because he’s interrupted before he can explain what he’s doing there, but knowing what we do from the books an educated guess can be made that he was keeping an eye on Janner and the other Igiby kids from the woods (he was watching their zibzy game and you can’t convince me otherwise) and when Janner ventured in and seemed frightened, Peet jumped down to make sure he was alright.
So that’s one micro scene. It’s showing us Peet’s caring side, that he might be weird and wear socks on his hands but he’s also kind and gentle to scared children lost in the woods.
The second tiny scene shows us the other side of him.
Tumblr media
So Janner’s kind of been being harassed by this little critter (I think it’s a thwapperfly) since he entered the forest. It flies over and dive bombs him while he’s talking to Peet and even right here you can see how Peet’s expression changes. Before he was all softness, but now you can see his face turn more serious. (He’s also still in the light here, though partially shadowed)
(Wait wait, and Janner in that shot and this next one is in the light and oh no, oh gosh, Janner’s practically glowing in the screenshot below and there’s a sort of subtle divide between him and Peet in the lighting which is showing us that Janner is Peet’s light, Janner is literally bringing him into the light without even realizing it just by existing- which is representing what all the kids have a hand in doing for Peet which is bringing him out of darkness and into the light and hope and oh jeeze, oh gosh, I need a minute-)
Tumblr media
Peet tenses, and it’s hard to see here but his whole expression changes, hardens. Because now Janner is afraid and Peet can’t let that stand. You can watch him track the thwapperfly’s movement like he’s zeroing in on a threat (because he is).
The thwapperfly circles back around for another attack and Peet’s reaction is immediate and instantaneous. He places himself between Janner and the danger:
Tumblr media
Notice how fierce he suddenly is compared to how he was a moment ago when it was just him and Janner. This is Peet in protect mode and it’s showing us a lot of things. One is that he is 100% ready to throw down at any moment to protect Janner and the other Igiby kids- even if the threat is insignificant! Because I really doubt a thwapperfly could badly hurt Janner but that doesn’t matter to Peet because Janner is scared, and Peet cares more about making this kid feel safe than if the threat is actually dangerous or not. We don’t know why yet but he is.
Tumblr media
Second, Peet is a very effective fighter! He not only jumps in front of Janner with lighting fast reflexes, he bats the thwapperfly away the second it gets close, and he does it in a practiced, easy way that tells you he’s used to defending himself (or others). He never hesitates for a second during any of this, just does it. It’s the sanest and most purposeful thing we’ve seen him do and he does it to protect our main character.
(Wait, oh, wait, hang on, another thing- Janner’s in the dark now and Peet is leaning into the light. Peet knows what’s going on here, he knows why he’s protecting Janner, but Janner has no idea! Janner is in the dark about what’s happening! That’s so clever I’m just-)
And then Peet catches Sara’s zibzy ball out of midair and skips away cackling delightedly.
Tumblr media
Also note that this is one of the times we see him walking out of the light, though interestingly he’s still not shadowed significantly. And it’s the moment where he slips from protect back into the silly Sockman. (from his true self and into what he’s been forced to become)
I’m almost at tumblr’s image limit and I still have a ways to go with this analysis, so I’m going to stop there for the moment to continue this in a second post. Feel free to comment with your thoughts! I’m having a lot of fun with this :D
