Not sure if this has been brought up before, but I don’t think that there’s that significant of a secret behind the mural man. LIke? Apparently the political figures of Vinyl City are determined not by public voting (alone) or running for candidacy, but through the Lights Up competition for a combination of 1) completing the arena, 2) ‘lighting up’ the stage as the competition implies, and 3) passing the final vote from the NSRtists and the Head. If there was only 5 musicians and a head with NO vacancies, why would any of the Charters vote ‘yes’ to the contestant/s if there’s a risk in getting replaced?

I would think that the mural man filled in that 6th artist slot present even on DJ Subatomic Supernova’s satellite, and I suppose the mystery then would be if their absence was either through retiring, quitting or simply the end of their term as a Charter. Like, instead of an election season or whatever, Vinyl City holds Lights Up Auditions during a set period during that 6th Charter’s crossover or something; on the satellite again, it’s not as if we see the mural man’s name in 6th (we see Bunk Bed Junction’s), maybe they’re already gone or are archiving stuff from their district. Does Tatiana temporarily hold ‘charter’ to the district? Does she hold the platinum disc until a new position is filled? Is Festival Plaza that district that once had mural man as a Charter? Do you think with the Rock Revolution and the subsequent approval of indie bands that the position was left empty or even completely abolished?

a/n: I just wanted to write for this fine man! me writing this does not mean I’m happy the eagles lost just an fyi.

you weren’t sure how the chiefs were able to pull this game off, but they did. the whole second quarter looked like a disaster. with mahomes down, the defense playing like shit, you weren’t sure how they were going to pull it together after half time. but there you stood waiting for the ‘okay’ to go onto the field with your two kids after the chiefs won the Super Bowl.

your arms were being tugged in two different directions thanks to your son, Lucas who was five, and your daughter, Ari, who was three. the two of them had minds of their own attempting to play with other kids or chase after the opposing team players. you were growing irritated hoping the security guard would finally free you all so you could find Travis, your husband.

finally being given the okay, you herded your children straight to your husband who was searching for you three the second everyone entered the field. “Daddy!” he heard Lucas’ voice and a small body wrap around his lower half.

“daddy won!” ari reached upward and Travis took her in his arms planting a kiss on her cheek before bending down to ruffle Lucas’s ginger hair. his eyes finally landed on yours giving you a big grin and you returned it.

“congrats, champ.” you pressed a quick kiss on his lips earning some gross noises from your kids only leaving you both to roll your eyes.

this was your kids first Super Bowl fully able to remember it. Lucas was young the first time around, and Ari was barely one the last time. you couldn’t believe how much time had gone by as you watched the three of them run around the field playing the confetti.

the Lombardi was making its way around with the players, while the press snapped pictures, video footage, and even interviewed the players. you watched an interviewer approach Travis and your daughter while you watched him answer questions.

“Travis, how are you feeling right now?” you watched Ari position herself into the crook of his neck to avoid looking at the camera. it earned an ‘Aw’ from the two of them, as Travis’ hand touched the back of her head, protectively.

“I’m happy! my wife and kids are here and they couldn’t be happier to celebrate.” he gestured for you to join the interview, but you just shook your head. it was much cuter the two of them, Ari was playing with the hat on his head while he tried to focus on the question she was asking him.

“we noticed your son has drifted off to hang out with the mahomes family, who do we have here with you?” she asked, making sure the microphone wasn’t too into your daughters face as Ari turned her head to look at the camera for a second before hiding again against her dad.

“this is Ari, she’s a little camera shy. but she’s her daddy’s girl, right?” he asked earning a little nod from her before she wiggled in his arms to be free. letting her down, she ran straight to you and the camera panned over to you and her.

a couple more questions later, he was done with the interview and finally being handed the Lombardi. you watched him carefully take the trophy from Patrick, and squat down to his kids letting them both touch it.

“daddy has two of these now.” you mentioned earning a nod from Lucas, who explained to Ari about the 2020 Super Bowl—that was narrated by Travis to him for bed time stories.

“does this ever make you wish you had one more?” Travis turned his head to face your direction. an irreplaceable smile was still on his lips that just melted your heart. despite the sweaty appearance, he was still handsome.

a smirk formed on your lips watching his eyes grow with concern, “well you don’t have to wish.” you watched his eyes grow big as the news settled in his brain, he reached over pulling you into his sweaty body. you had been holding off the news since you found out just before your departure for the Super Bowl, you figured it would be a perfect surprise no matter the outcome.

“you’re pregnant?” he mouthed the words, hoping nobody caught this interaction between you two and was still stuck on your kids cuteness with the Lombardi.

nodding, you felt his lips press against your forehead, “this is the best Super Bowl win.”

i started my challenge the day i posted it so 2/4 and hopefully ending 2/18. my main goal was not being at war in my own mind and instead asking myself when i was in a state I didn’t resonate with;

“who am I?”

and this was only the first day—it was like a switch went off and I’ve been feeling so fluid ever since. like personally, the resistance at first can be a bitchhh depending on how you look at it. but my mind has finally accepted that imagination is the only reality like there is nothing i need to worry about or do or change but my state of awareness. and I start to find myself smiling and shit in class because in my 4D I’m doing shit for my business and idk that shit just feels so transformative. *updating every few days!

I have a quiz today so a good day to updatee, im manifesting good grades as well without really trying and being the person who bullshits but still passes with all A’s. my goal for this challenge is not to check the 3D consciously—as long as my dominant state is a state of having/being then I have nothing to worry about! doing an edward art meditation before class laterr—ttyl!!! update—improved my grades and got a B on my calc quiz! + im understanding calc + harder econ which is insanee to me

so I got hit up by my graphics design client/manager that made me HELLA money in 2020 for a commission + an upcoming event… y’all long story short I have multiple jobs lined up. I also been spending time alone and spoiling myself and I got this cute ass belly ring likee period. im meditating again tonight (Edward Art) but I feel so confident. I am also adding 5 more days because I checked the 3D/wavered about something business-related so my new end date is 2/23!

• my skin is so clear and my hairs easy to do??? I used to struggle a bit but now I can do it within 30mins-1hr + my hair’s now likee 4a/3c and touches my mid back its growing pretty quick

• playing the sims 4 again + hella expansion packs games would literally break my computers b4

• my dimples are prominent asfff! I have a lil more freckles too ((:

• buying whatever I want/getting it bought for me like new piercings + haircare + stiiizy pods + having my nails done when I want

• wasn’t even focused on my body at first but I asked myself how I would feel/react if I had my desired body and y’all.. over the last 2ish weeks I noticed I have the most toned stomach I’ve ever had and my butt grew an inch?? likee I haven’t worked out n my body only looks better

• my relationship is so perfect! my bf plans dates and stuff and suggests cute shit all the time for ex. he wants to take me to see the snow for the first time and were going on a trip next month for our anniversary <3

• i literally doodle in class, bullshit my hw, n still get good grades

But for fandom stuff... Again, I wasn't super paying attention to it at the time because no one was really talking about it and it was primarily happening between groups that I felt it was like... Not my place to chime in on? Which is why I wish I knew of Jewish people who were around at the time talking about it (or that I could find sources of them talking about it then)

Part of it was the whole "do Jewish people count as POC" discourse when one of the black bnfs ran a... I think it was a fashion zine for Homestuck characters of color and people asked if Jewish people counted and the response was "Yeah you can have Jewish people if they're also not white" or something.

That same bnf had a panel at the first SAHcon (I just tried to look it up and I can't find it -- I don't know if it's one of the ones that got taken down or if I just didn't save it to my SAHcon playlist or what) where some commenters called them out for saying something antisemetic and they and the other bnf in the video defended the statement

God I even tried looking it up like "homestuck [creator name] antisemetism" but the only thing I got is said creator may be working on like Big Stuff now which was another issue when I think in like 2020 it was announced they were working on a not-homestuck game that was set in an area of the US that traditionally had a lot of Jewish people and yet there were no Jewish characters in the game so it really did seem like a pattern with them in particular, but also the bnfs all circled wagons around their own and most of them got hired on as WP staff or contractors at one point or another (this person as well, though I don't think their contributions ended up being much (which isn't a dig against them just the state of WP at the time))

Then there was the usual "Hey saying "Vriska did nothing wrong" is literally a play on "Hitler did nothing wrong" so what if you didn't say that" but I mean that is something that's been going around for like.... years. I don't even know when that first started, so I don't want to use it as a particular example of the antisemetism of the time.

And then there's this.... I've mentioned this in a previous post but

I'm not saying this was intended as a dog whistle, but I think it highlights that this team/these bnfs were really not thinking about antisemitism (even though there was at least one Jewish person on staff/in this group iirc) because there is no way you would make this big important thread about leaving and say you're leaving the people with "14 characters" when a big white supremecist dogwhistle is "the 14 words" -- I was thinking it was strictly antisemetic but I did look it up and it's white supremecist in general and so considering how extremely into activism and BLM they showcased themselves to be you'd think they would have caught that like... it's not a good look? Again, I don't think they actually intended it as a dogwhistle, it's just extremely weird

But everything I said feels flimsy and weird because I don't have sources to back any of it up and I only half remember stuff which is why I've avoided getting too deep into it before

Thess vs Quasi-Necessities

So even after the holidays, I still had a significant amount of overtime 'windfall', for lack of a better term - it was only as large as it was because that back pay from August and September hit my account at the same time. Anyway, before I dumped it into savings, I decided to have a think about whether there was anything really big that I needed, that it was better to get now with the after-Christmas sales and everything instead of waiting. I thought about cookware and the like, but none of that seemed urgent enough. I mean, my kitchen is still tiny, and that won't change for awhile, so I'm not as fired up to get more Kitchen Stuff as I could be.

Then I hit upon a Facebook memory and realised that Gilmore, my beloved PC, is five years old. I've been using the requirements for running the Silent Hill 2 remake as a guideline for what I need to be running, and while my CPU just about still stands up (i5), my graphics card is running way, way behind (NVIDIA GTX 1060). Probably not doing me any favours with Baldur's Gate 3 either. Now, obviously I can't afford anything top of the line - that's running up to £1k and that just eats everything. But I could afford a GeForce RTX 3060, which is a significant upgrade and will be arriving on Saturday.

So ... cue the mild to moderate anxiety as I install a new graphics card for the first time in years. It's been awhile. I'll probably have to upgrade the whole machine soon (well, soonish), but this'll do for now. Looking at the Baldur's Gate 3 specs, my current card is somewhere between the minimum specs and the recommended specs, and is closer to the minimum, so that may explain the few issues I've had with it lately. So the mild to moderate anxiety will be worth it.

Thing is, I tend not to notice that kind of thing overmuch just because I mostly play indie games or games that are over a decade old (or both) and I think BG3 is the only game I have that's really graphics-intensive from the standard of the 2020s. So I guess it's not a necessity, exactly, but seriously, that graphics card wasn't exactly top of the line five years ago. It was probably time. But obviously I still have a bit of sticker shock over the whole thing, to go along with the mild to moderate "putting new things in my computer" anxiety. I mean, I know I can afford it without any problem whatsoever, and I know I can install a fucking graphics card without melting anything, but I still have the anxiety. My brain is awful.

It was close, but looks like Afterparty won the vote for the A game, so I'll be returning to hell for the first time since 2020. 😈 That may take a few sessions this week, but while I'm working on that: let's figure out B time! I know you get a lot of Sergei love, but I just really wanted to add my own to the pile. I think I've been following you and playing the demo from the start, and hadn't even thought of him as an RO cause he wasn't presented that way. But then the asks started up and you mentioned considering adding a route for him and I got so excited.

I'm 40, you see, and while it's very fun creating a cute 20 something stray and getting to run around in their shoes, the younger ROs don't resonate as much with me personally cause old. They're all adorable and i love them so much (so so much!), but romancing Sergei just added so much more immersion for me. You did an amazing job writing a route that I wasn't sure would work with his trauma, but it's beautiful and messy and perfect and so very human. And very respectful of his experiences.

I'm babbling and i know it but you're a lovely person who deserves to feel more confident in your writing, so i wanted to tell you how much it means to me and to let you know that you have already had more reach than perhaps you realized.

You're good at this and you deserve success. Don't worry about responding unless you really want to, I'm on anon cause I'm hella shy so there's zero pressure. Plus I'm probably being weird idk, I just thought you might need to hear some of this.

(Oh yeah! Side note! And btw you can totally use renpy to make text only games if you don't wanna deal with sprites. It's a little more involved than twine to learn, but it's very stable and has a wonderful and helpful community. I'm so glad you're giving it a shot!)

I'm really glad you like Sergi. As an older character, he does bring something quite special and unique to the table, which is a big part of the reason why I decided to go ahead and make him an RO. It's really great knowing that he feels genuine to you, especially with the trauma he experiences in the story.

Also, thanks so much for being here and supporting my writing. I am still self conscious about my writing but sharing Blood Moon both here and on the forum has been a HUGE step for me and has made me feel way better both about my writing, and about myself. Back in 2020, if someone had told me I'd be publishing a massive Choicescript game, plus running a tumblr blog, and a KoFi account in a couple of years, I would not have believed them. It's been amazing. I hope I can keep learning and growing this way for years.

Also! Yeah! I noticed there is a way to make ren'py display as something closer to a novel rather than a visual novel. I'm really excited to play around with that more. I think ren'py is a really good tool and I love how functional things like the load/save function is (which seems silly, but coming out of Choicescript, that's a huge plus). I'm really hoping I have time to explore more with it this year and maybe write another couple of short games to share.

This is going to be a personal one, probably long winded again, so I’ll put it under a cut.

56. Are there any fics that you would change or rewrite if given the chance?

The current version of Absolution is a rewrite. I’ve changed minor things, like how Kat used to call Seb ‘Boss’ - after a while, I found I didn’t like it. I wanted them to be closer and less formal with each other.

I also re-added in the confirmation that Yin is trans. He always has been, but I was afraid I’d get hate for it, so initially, that part had been cut. I felt brave after enlisting the help of a sensitivity reader and reinstated it for the re-write.

I don’t believe you have to ban writers from writing the ‘other’. It’s like acting. A good actor should be able to play any part, regardless of their personal experiences. Who I am really shouldn’t come into it. And if we want more inclusive and diverse stories, demanding cishets stick to only writing cishet is not going to help that cause. Careful research and enlisting sensitivity readers is the way forward.

The original version of the fic is still up but archived locked. I only got to chapter 9 before I had a falling out with my previous beta, which coincided with falling ill with depression. I wanted to die, ended up in therapy, and so on. It took a lot to return to the story after that. It was like returning to the scene of the crime. ‘Oh, and here’s where I fell ill and wanted to kill myself’ like fuuuuuck.

2020 was tough on everyone. Like many, I was already struggling, so lockdown took all of it and held it under a microscope. The most important thing is that I sought help, I’m recovering, and I started writing again. I took that opportunity to rewrite the story from scratch. I like how it’s going so far, but…

37. What fic has been the hardest for you to write?

Again, Absolution. It still feels like an impossible hill to climb, made worse by association with my illness, and it is an OC fic in a fandom notoriously hostile to OC fics. A fandom I now dislike for being a toxic dumpster fire. And the other related canon ‘Absolution’ happened.

I found it very hard to return to the Abby again after that or even speak of it. It feels wrong. Part of me wants to go back and rewrite it again, removing the ‘absolution’ part so that I don’t cringe every time I like to talk about my fic. (Notice how I rarely mention it on my blog unless asked). I’m getting better at it, but I still find it jarring. But the name is so essential, woven into the very fabric of the story. It’s the name of the goddamn ship and the theme of the entire piece. It would be very hard for me to remove it at this point.

Bioware has upset me. The whole reason I started writing it was because their narrative has more plot holes than a seventies string shopping bag. I know it’s just a big coincidence, but I feel like they stole my subtitle on purpose, and now the only reason I want to finish it is out of pure spite because I believe I can write a better story than them with one eye shut, standing on my head, dancing the Macarena. I mean, look how I’ve been able to fix their story retrospectively without touching canon events at all. It’s easy. I don’t know why they didn’t do it themselves. Canon is just asking for fic writers to fix their shit when they’ve been so blatantly incompetent. 🙄

I didn’t find it hard to come up with the story. I’m just finding it hard to care about Mass Effect these days. Or the videogame industry as a whole in recent years. It feels like just one letdown after another. Games have never exactly been award-winning sci-fi, but it has felt increasingly like the story part of game development has meant less and less to developers over the years. They now sacrifice everything - story, most of all - just to get something out of the door. It’s depressing.

Sorry to end on such a bum note. It’s always going to be angsty talking about which fics were the hardest.

I am still committed to finishing Absolution. Spite alone is a powerful motivator, but your and other’s support makes the struggles worthwhile.

I’m sorry I haven’t got back onto AO3 this week. I prefer using it on the laptop, and I just haven’t had a chance to switch it on. I also wanted to pace myself, savouring all your lovely comments because I rarely have so much interest in my work.

I really struggle playing the sims 4 now. The glitches are irritating. It's beyond a joke. Glitches in the other games don't break the game or feel the same. My child sim looking like spaghetti in ts3 for 3 seconds once in a blue moon is fun, but the sims 4 has serious problems. I hate how even when I choose what pronouns I want the game to use, it STILL defaults to they/them every time. It's such a small thing but it irritates me lol. When I don't choose pronouns, it defaults to they/them. If I do, it still they/themifies my sims. I can't be immersed in the game because it feels so empty in comparison to the sims 2 and 3. I love sims 2 and 3, and despite the differences, I can be immersed in both of those games. Sims 4? I can't anymore. I just open the game and I feel so bored so fast. There's nothing to do for me. The sims feel so empty. I had to turn the wants and fears off because it was implemented so poorly. It's frustrating how things we ask for are implemented badly and don't work, so then you look unhinged when you complain about it. The wants are boring like "read a book." The sims themselves feel like empty shells with no personality. In the sims 3, the traits are incredible and the sims feel so unique and alive. Even sims with the same traits feel so different. The wants make sense. In the sims 2 the fears made sense and you had real consequences for going into aspiration failure. The sims 4 is also so.... PG? People would call it problematic if they brought the therapist back or the social bunny from ts2 and it's so annoying how they want to appease chronically online people in that way. As I said, I had to turn off wants and fears in ts4 because they don't work. My sim had a deadend job fear every other day, despite loving their job. And the thing is, the wants and fears still show up sometimes even when turned off! If my sim is flirting, they'll have a want to kiss the sim even though it's turned off. We have bars and lounges to go to, which is good, but the game still feels so empty. In the sims 3 the world felt so alive and it just doesn't feel that way in the sims4. The Sims 3 is my absolute favourite, and it's incredibly jarring to go to the sims 4 and see it. Sims 4 only expanded skintones in 2020, after massive outrage over a Black man being murdered by police in the US. I mean, how ridiculous is that? Sims 3 had a slider and you could make skintones easily. The sims team are forced to release things half finished, the code is messy, you need to buy so many expansions and game packs to get things that should've all come as one. The kits are ridiculous, the fact you had to pay for a halloween stuff pack to even be able to trick or treat because it didn't come with seasons is so sad too. It's just cash grab after cash grab and yet people eat it up because of the aesthetic. The game just feels like aesthetics and hollow beauty. Inside it's just so devoid of passion and care. It's so empty and lacklustre to me and I hate to say it and I also hate to sound like a broken record, but I can't ignore it anymore. Lately I just can't play the game anymore and it makes me sad. Things have shifted and something has changed. The game has so many bugs now that destroy and break it. Tiny things add up. I hate how they add things from packs into the base game, and re-use the same objects from other packs but add different swatches. They literally removed features from realm of magic. They were supposed to have cool eye colours the way vampires do but they removed it and never out it back? And no-one seems to have ever noticed? It's shit like that. I just can't enjoy it anymore.

The Sith genozide shows that the Jedi are just as willing as the Sith to cross very morally questionable lines for their cause KOTOR lore has recently been deemed canon by Lucasfilm (January 2020), so the Jedi’s genocide of the Sith species is therefore canon now

I mean, even if an SW fan knows nothing about the KOTOR video game, which, admittedly, I’ve never played either, everything we see throughout all six movies of the OT and PT saga and TCW pretty much confirms that the old Republic and Jedi Order are willing to cross every reprehensible boundary that they consider to be moral horizon events/deeds in their enemies. The only difference is that they have better PR in the galaxy backed up by the Republic government superpower and put in more effort to be more subtle about their abuse of power than the Sith because they care about being seen as “above it all.”

While Anakin is darker and less empathetic as Darth Vader in his methods, even by comparison to the average Jedi of his time because he’s learned to care less about being seen as a “nice” warrior “for the greater good” of the galaxy on the high of the dark side fueling his anger and his depression, you’ll also notice he’s actually more like the Jedi of his time in terms of how he compartmentalizes his guilt and justifies his crimes with that whole “greater good” and “necessary evil” excuse, rather than the typical chaotic evil Sith who is just evil for shits and giggles like Darth Maul. He falls into the lawful evil category instead.

The Jedi of the old Republic are only somewhat above him in terms of morality after he becomes Darth Vader because they still care about being seen as superficially “nice” to the general public of their recruits and Republic government, in spite of actually being just as ruthless as their enemies when they realize it’s easier to force people into submission to get their way from them “for the greater good” than taking the risk to do the right thing.

Anakin is still a Jedi of the old Order in mindset in the sense that he is convinced by both Sidious (a Sith who knows how the Jedi and Republic members think because he spent a lot of time with them) and himself that committing these crimes out of anger towards those who hurt him or his loved ones, a desire for freedom, fear of the unknown, fear of losing loved ones, and paranoia are serving worthy ends for protection of the Empire, Palpatine, his loved ones, himself, and the galaxy as Darth Vader, but he’s more brutal and less concerned about being subtle by playing nice in his application of that abuse of power over those he victimizes to do it on the high of the dark side, which is more Sith like.

However, in spite of being more subtle about it, I’d argue that most of the Jedi of the old Republic really weren’t that much better than most of their enemies in the Sith race. At least not after they defeated the Sith the first time around.,We spend the entirety of the prequels following the Jedi as they are basically plotting another genocide against the Sith race on their home planets. Yes, you can make a valid point that killing the Sith in self-defense when they attack first is necessary, but plotting to destroy their entire civilizations before and/or without offering them any sort of benefit of the doubt, any sort of opportunity to surrender peacefully, any sort of opportunity for rehabilitation, and any sort of warning ahead of time that they could get out of this if they stopped terrorizing the galaxy is not fair.

That is really fucked up, and we get no indication throughout the movies that the “peacekeeping” Jedi ever even considered any less violent and lethal alternatives to dealing with the Sith when their army attacked than immediate execution of them all

You’d think that at least Yoda would try to talk to the Republic Senate to find a more peaceful way to deal with the Sith. You’d think he’d consider trying to negotiate with them. He’s been alive the longest to have an idea of what the Jedi was like before the Sith. But no…He still thinks that mass murdering them is the answer.

It’s the same moral issue that U.S. government created when they decided to drop two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan in WWII completely out of the blue in the 1940s, killing and/or injuring millions in the process, so they could force their army to surrender without offering them any sort of warning ahead of time or better options than this mass destruction of lives to the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It’s the same moral issue that Palpatine and Dooku created when they plotted a genocide of the Jedi Order/Republic without any sort of warning.

Yeah, I know the Sith culture is deeply fucked up and violent on the whole, but they are still sentient beings. The children on their planets are still going to be innocents. They deserved to know they could have had an option to atone for their crimes, be rehabilitated, reform, or surrender peacefully. The innocent civilians kids didn’t deserve to have their lives taken from them as collateral damage of the Jedi’s elimination of the Sith.

For “peacekeepers,” the Jedi of the prequels before Luke don’t really seem to be too interested in taking the necessary risks and steps to create it by being brave enough to offer any sort of compassion, patience, or understanding for those who oppose them before going straight to murder as the answer. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and many of the other Jedi of the prequels develop a very similar mindset after being recruited, not just because their government is under the control of the Sith Lord in disguise, but because of how deeply dysfunctional the Jedi system was being run/implemented. They weren’t taught how to be normally functioning independent adults with a healthy sense of security, self-confidence, self-worth in their own personal agency and personal beliefs, how to have healthy relationships, or how to think critically. They were actively cut off, discouraged, and forbidden from having any sort of personal independence, personal hobbies, interests, relationships, occupations, or lives of their own outside of the Jedi Order because Yoda was too afraid of losing control over them and potentially facing the dark side by allowing them normal freedoms, relationships, and agency.

Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and many of the other Jedi of the prequels were taught to use an exceedingly hostile and paranoid black-and-white us vs them mentality in the Republic/Jedi Order and the Empire/Sith in regards to enemies, outsiders, and potential threats to the “greater good” of the causes they served, the safety of themselves or those they were loyal to within that cause, and their critical thinking skills, open-mindedness, and self-awareness diminished as a result.

When you can’t fathom the possibility of even trying to take the risk to use peaceful non-violent alternatives to dealing with enemies by allowing them the chance to a fair trial, hearing them out, giving them a chance to surrender, giving them a chance to atone, then that’s a serious problem that often ends up perpetuating a cycle of fear-driven systematic abuse, crime, distrust, resentment, and oppression more than necessary, rather than breaking it. You can’t really break a cycle of systematic abuse, crime, distrust, and oppression by enabling and perpetuating it whenever it’s safer than taking a risk to stand up for what’s right, especially when you go around calling yourself a “peacekeeper.”

That was Anakin’s, Obi-Wan’s, Yoda’s, Qui Gonn’s, and the majority of the rest of prequel era Jedi Order’s biggest personal moral failing. They became so afraid of facing conflict and opposition under these corrupt cult-like institutions and governments under these shitty circumstances that they ended up becoming willing enablers and perpetrators of the very same crimes they sought to destroy to fit in under pressure to try to remain safe at all costs because it was easier than taking a risk to be vulnerable that was required to ultimately be able to do better.

No, it’s not just their faults they ended up growing up to be that way. The Jedi Order and Sidious were abusive, manipulative, and isolating systems that seriously compromised their agency to be able to feel reasonably safe doing better through finding better escape and healthy support. The government they worked for was corrupt. Anakin seemed to develop C-PTSD, BPD, ADHD, and substance abuse symptoms that never got properly treated. The Sith army definitely did strike against the Jedi first a millenia ago, and most of them were very corrupt. However, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and the other Jedi of the old Republic did still have enough sense to be able to understand what was objectively right versus wrong. They had consciences, and not every crime they committed were things they were coerced into doing by the Republic, Sidious, and the Jedi Council. They developed personally selfish and vindictive streaks, too. They eventually did stop trying after some time, so I can’t just pretend they’re wholly innocent either.

The biggest take away from Star Wars OT and PT sagas is how easy it can be for the fear under systematic abuse, crime, enemies, warfare, and oppression to destroy both yourself and others around you when you don’t deal with it healthily by taking the risk to be emotionally vulnerable and open, and instead continue the cycle of abusing power to try to deny, take control of, and/or eliminate those people and/or things that cause you fear instead.

Guide to possibly confusing things

Lets go on a random rant with me

So

Would you like to hear another weird ass trying to figure out your a system story?

Some context (because I can't remember if I told you this or not): Since all this sudden weird stuff was happening to us, and Kris had it in their head that THEY where the only one who could be fronting, and had limited self awareness, they assumed that this was some weird possess that people go through.

Other people also suddenly "become" videogame characters just like they thought we did. So, only going of what they saw themself doing, Kris began to look for other people like them. People who where characters and dressed like their character (because Kris when they took over, completely changed the body's appearance to look like them).

So when Sal comes in, their kinda mad about it, because they assume that they (we) can only be ONe character at a time. As you know, Sal made it as far as he did because he insisted he didn't want control.

Context over, now to the story

It was around February 2020, and we where in a play. When we went to our first rehearsal, something stood out.

Before this, everything was going as planned. Sal staying out of the way, and Kris trying their best to look for people dressing like characters.

Here, in the play cast, was a kid who happened to look a lot like Larry (from Sally face).

Ok, so what's the big deal? I'll tell you

Because of what I explained earlier, about Kris always looking for people "like them" (that's all we knew), Sal happened to pick up on it. Just noticing how enamored Kris was with it and stuff, but not intending on doing anything about it himself (if he even could manage too).

So when this kid comes up, a kid who matched Kris's idea of someone being a character too, he kinda freaked out. I mean, if you assumed this could be a long lost fiend of yours, it makes sense.

So for the first time, Sal was trying to front. He was trying to get this person's attention. He was able to front a few times too. But Kris wasn't having it.

Unlike how it's illustrated in HSS, headspace barely existed back then, and Kris couldn't like, physically do much, so a lot of these fights in the comic that are like five pages, lasted months irl. It's always a slow fight for control over the body. One day Kris fronts, another their enemy.

So here it was weeks of back and forth. But this wasn't what caused the death of Sal. The nail in the coffin was actually:

Moving.

Since Sal had a reason now to be fronting (the kid), Kris had been trying to suppress him for the entirety of the play. Even after it ended, and we never saw that kid again. We where about to move cities. The thing about that, is we where building a house. So we had to get temporary housing to stay in before it was done. What was this housing? An apartment.

Kris's logic was, that Sal was acting up because he saw someone he knows. And they wanted to stop that. So when they discovered we where going into an apartment, all shit broke loose. You see, for most of the game Sally face, the setting is an apartment building. That's where Sal lived in his source. Kris knows this, and put together that if he was trying to take control because of the kid, he must want to be in control MORE if he gets to live where he once was.

Kris was not going to let Sal get "more powerful". So they just..

Ended it

So no, Sal didn't attack Kris for justice reasons, he did it because of some kid.

A Look Back At A Certain Splatoon Promo Image...

The more I think about it, the more I think that we got Splatoon 3 (and another event) a lot later than Nintendo originally envisioned. The image above was released by Nintendo at Midnight (JST) January 1, 2020. I even remember where I was when I first saw it: partying on New Year's Eve in a karaoke bar with friends. Right away people were wondering about the image, and what it could mean. This also wasn't too long after the fake-out "Where's Marina?" promo where the answer was "oh, she took the photo!" Of course, the most obvious hidden meaning was the text on the bottom disguised to look like a reflection in the waves: SOS. And written in the waves, combined with the "reflection", said "Save Our Salmons". This had people wondering if this was a hint as to a later plot. Maybe a new DLC for Splatoon 2, or even a Splatoon 3. Looking back, it's obvious now that this was meant to be our first tease for Splatoon 3, given the plot of its Story Mode revolving around the consequences of Salmon Run and why Mr. Grizz was having us all steal eggs. The only thing is...we all know what happened in 2020, and what it did to numerous industries, especially tech-based industries like video game development. We know now that Splatoon 3 development started about as soon as the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest ended, just like development for Splatoon 2 kicked into high gear after Marie won Splatoon 1's final fest. Given how fast Nintendo put out Splatoon 2 after only a year and change of development, it seems like it's possible Nintendo intended Splatoon 3 to be released sometime in 2021 instead of this year. But of course, a certain virus had other plans. Eventually with vaccines, air filtration technology, and the virus evolving to be overall less deadly, we we able to slowly get back to an almost normal lifestyle, and a lot of the bottlenecks in the supply chain started to ease up, but in 2020 itself, everyone's plans were thrown into... well... chaos. If I were to make a guess, absent the pandemic, we would have likely gotten the first Direct Splatoon 3 teaser in September 2020, with a release date of Fall 2021. Instead, Nintendo, trying to keep Splatoon hype going, gave us some extra rerun Splatfests, including a rerun of Splatoween over Halloween weekend (after all, not like anyone had any real plans for the holiday itself), while they played catch-up on game development in a pandemic-strewn world. And that leads me to another topic: The Super Mario Splatfest. 2020 was also Super Mario's 35th Anniversary as a franchise (discounting 1983's Mario Bros and 1981's Donkey Kong), and if you may have noticed, much of the celebration spilled over into 2021, including a Splatoon 2 Splatfest fitting the theme. Again, absent the pandemic, I think we would have gotten the Super Mario 35th Anniversary celebration confined within the calendar year of 2020, with the related Splatfest in July 2020, one year after "Final Fest". Again, this is just my musing, and I could be amazingly off-base with this, but given the original timing of the "Save Our Salmons" promo, it seems to make sense. Hey, remember that self insert acecattorney au that i made? I got more lore for it and possible retconning because i realized my ideas back then weren't realistic

Here's how it is now:

In the beginning of the au, winter of 2020, i was quite shy and took a long time to even trust phoenix alone to be able to hold a comfortable conversation with him

Only towards the end of the internship, i become somewhat close to him

Around spring 2021, i was comfortable enough to come out as nonbinary to him, making him the very first person i came out to in this au

Upon hearing this, he gave me the nickname nat, which later becomes my new name

After that, we unfortunately fall out of contact slowly until we meet again almost two years later, february 2023

He has to defend one of my teachers who's wrongfully accused of murder

He comes to my school to investigate the bunker in the basement of the school, where the crime scene is

He's glad to see me again but is surprised that i've seemingly changed in attitude, but eventually just finds out i'm only like that around my best friend

Around him i'm still pretty shy at first, almost as shy as when my internship at his law office ended

Phoenix is a bit bummed at the thought of having to befriend me again, but decides to do it and talks to me whenever he gets the chance to

We both find out that we're big fans of doctor who and he finds out i've watched south park during the two years

Phoenix eventually befriends me again and gains the trust of my best friend, causing him to be included in the friend group

He learns about the way we show our friendship (showing each other the middle finger affectionately, insulting each other and lighthearted bullying) and is surprised and confused about it but tries to tag along, which comes off as awkward at first, but he does get the hang of it

He also finds out that in serious situations, where we need comfort, we immediately turn from well-meaning bullies to worried and genuinely caring friends, dropping everything to be there for each other

I've forgotten bits and pieces of the au, so i just decided to update it while knowing more of the lore than back then

Here are some important details:

Phoenix's disbarment never happened, but he still got to adopt trucy

Phoenix and miles married sometime in 2019

Miles got to adopt kay

The four moved to germany in early 2020, before the pandemic broke out in germany

And now for some stupid headcanons i made for this au thst make absolutely no sense whatsoever:

After my best friend finds out sans from undertale calls guacamole "guac dip" and gets offended by it, phoenix bullies him about it, to which he promptly recieves "friendly punchies" from him

He bullies my best friend multiple times throughout the same day and every time he does he gets friendly punchies

I manage to get phoenix into deponia, with him eventually admitting to me that he has a small crush on rufus

After he gets the games for himself, he calls me in the middle of the night, admitting that he's been playing all night and wanted someone to talk to after finishing the first game

Phoenix gets called "igelkopf" by the friend group, which translates to hedgehog head

Phoenix drinks energy drinks from time to time but will deny it, especially when you offer him one

When you offer him an energy drink, he'll snatch it from you WHILE STILL DENYING HE DRINKS THEM and as soon as he takes the first sip, he's like "alright, you got me, that stuff is alright"

(Now a few lighthearted ones)

He knows i see him like a big brother and plays into that role by accommodating my needs as an autistic person and caring for me

He felt pity for me when i told him my situation at home and my relationship to my mother got worse since the internship, which is also the reason he plays into the big brother role

When i first told him i changed my middle name to his name, he took it as a joke, but after i told him a week later that it wasn't a joke, he got very emotional

He notices i've gotten sensitive to loud noises and gets worried since during the internship he could slam his hands on the desk during trials right next to me and i wouldn't even flinch

Ok, this is quite a lot, but it needed to be written down or else i forget sone details again

This is Aurix-- in game his last name is "Lothtor" bc I blindly named him but since making him I've made him a Kha :D he's a... bimbo, very sweet. I got through the game on him first in 2020 and even though I don't play on him much anymore he is so so special to me! I think of him as my WOL proper. Last two pics are him and his childhood best friend from the Steppe, Khaidu (who I'm doing a commission of rn!)

Annnd this is U'dhiya Virphi. I made him when I started savage raiding with Davey + my static in 2021! DC travel didn't exist so I had to uh.. start over lol. He was a catboy, but once they released bunnies.. I mean, come on!!! He's very socially inept and brusque, is better at fighting and going on odd adventures than negotiating and talking to people in general. Sometimes I imagine him as a miqote with this face and height, though I think he'd be more muscular than bunboy physiques allow lol. Unlike Aurix he doesn't emote a lot. Like Aurix he hates wearing shirts LOL. I think of Dhiya like a gleaner who absconded from sharlayan back to the sagolii desert and got wrapped up in helping out the WOL.

My 2022 Review: Section 3 - Vidja Games

In the last section, we ended off with a brief intro into what 'Obey Me! Shall we Date?' franchise entailed.

And I have, not so much a theory, just a correlation, that I will discuss after going into this gatcha franchise (more like 'water is wet' statement), as well as some discussion on mental health.

I've going to avoid all of the detailed stuff about it by linking this post I made earlier this year back when I was in the heat of playing the game and only having spent money to boost one card I liked, and maybe throw $20 here and there.

In summary: the plot has good premise, from parts Seasons 1 - 3 of the game {Season 1: Chapters 1 -20, Season 2: Chapters 21-40, etc.}. However, I have heard echoes from more well-versed fans of the series that Season 4: Chapters 61-80 were not great for multiple reasons in regards to the plot (I never made it this far into the game, I stopped around chapter 50), but the art and misc. content being put into the franchise is decent.

I've also seen a lot of people catch onto the....very questionable decisions that were picked up during dialogue. It's kind of dodgy and questionable, but they're the 7 princes of Hell, not some BTS crew who hasn't committed at least one war crime {this is a joke or assumption that all KPOP stars are precious little uwu angel boys because I know nothing about KPOP except the word BTS} (spoiler: all of the characters in Obey Me have committed at least war crime, yes even YOU the MC. Edit: probably the only character that has not committed a war crime and ironically is the only character you cannot date in the game and that is Luke)

(I mean, look at him, I don't have to explain why he's not datable.)

And ESPECIALLY stay away from playing the game IF YOU DON'T HAVE IMPULSE CONTROL.

Between the months of March, May, June, October, November, and into this month as well, my personal life has not been great and my mind has been in some bad places. And when so much stress and trauma seem to seep into my head, I tend to want to dissociate and forget that reality is a thing. Because literally two weeks after writing that article, a brand new event launched on the app and my investment on microtransactions to boost cards and get pulls that I wanted hit a four digit USD number. After Lucifer's birthday back in June, I had to stop playing or I was going to drain my bank account. I was that depressed and desperate for any kind of dopamine to hit my veins that I was willing to spend my life savings for happiness on fictional characters. I do regret the choice I made looking back, but in the moment I could have cared less.

The same thing happened to me when I played Mystic Messenger a few years back, but I knew where to draw the line sooner rather than later when I noticed the dent in my checking account.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the character designs and the characters themselves. I just don't want to get sucked into what is essentially, an addiction, like that, ever again.

Going to start off with the games I actually have finished.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One

Okay, now that is out of the way, I can fully discuss the first game I played in full this year from the Ukranian Chads at Frogwares: Sherlock Holmes Chapter One.

This is kind of like a fanon prequel to the canon storyline where Sherlock grew up on this island known as Cordona, a melting pot of an island in the Mediterranean where you solve mysteries around the island, as well as into Sherlock's past of as to what actually happened in this re-imagined tale.

Warning: if you are very sensitive and get triggered from by-gone era culture, do not play this game. Even the game warns you up front what you are about to dive into, and even I, who has been getting less ruffled by triggering things over the years, had some 'yikes' moments when playing.

This is Sherlock, you can dress him up in multiple different outfits for funsies, and the writing is incredibly tongue and cheek.

If you are also interested in Lovecraftian horror, Frogwares is also remaking one of their older games where it a crossover of Lovecraft Horror and Holmes so, if that is your cup of tea.

Now only if we could get a remake of this....then my life would be complete.

I am currently playing through Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis and it's glorious, the Part 6 Lupin actually needed.

Disco Elysium

I blame Tumblr. Specifically that one gif of break dancing harry, this was the one that grabbed my attention to this weird little RPG.

I went in blind so I had little to no idea what to do, but loved how the game was set up all around D&D-style roll checks. I do want to play the game again to see what I missed the first time around, as well as mess around with builds to see what is most effective to getting what I want (note: I tried building Jigen and I think I softlocked myself out of progression because I couldn't pass any of my checks).

Funky Little Game that I enjoyed. 10/10.

Hades

I technically beat the game for the first time and now I'm on level 2 (I'm not good at rougelike it took me nearly 100 tries to get out the first time). But man do I love...everything about this game.

Favorite weapon is the spear. Favorite love interest is Miles Ed-I MEAN THANATOS.

And I can't wait to play the sequel when it releases.

The Great Ace Attorney 2: FINALLY FINISHED IT

I gave a lot of crap to this game duo set last year, especially to the last trial of the first game where it dragged and dragged, and dragged to nothing and everyone by the end of the trial, had admitted to committing one sort of crime or another.

But finally I got around to force myself to finish the second game right where I left off and....it was actually good? The plot twists (though I knew some of them, but not the two most important plot twists) had some logical thought put into them? And the ending case was excellent with how the game mechanics played out?

Why didn't we get this in the first game?

Powerwashing Simulator/House Flipper

It was annoying at times, and the plot (yes a simulator game had a PLOT) was bonkers, but I had a chill time with it. 8/10 for stimulation.

I've also been playing some more House Flipper lately to chill off which helped a bit.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

I beat this game in a span of a couple of days, and I don't remember much about it, but I do remember having a good time for how short the campaign actually was.

Ghostwire Tokyo

My Diamond in the Rough of 2022 that was published by Bethesda. Japanese modern era horror? Sign me up! The atmosphere of the game is eerie, a contrast on what I was playing back in 2021.

Monster Prom, Monster Camp, & Monster Road Trip

I'm going to put these games all together since they're from the same series and I bought them in a set.

Note: These games are better with friends (I've...mostly been playing alone) and co-op is necessary when it comes to hitting the objectives in Road Trip so you can plan out your routes accordingly.

Overall, they're fun games to play if you have some down time.

Basically this trilogy of games is a visual novel dating simulator for monster fuckers. My favorite character? Milo Belladonna, hands down. They ooze aesthetic.

Side note: I have been planning to write this compilation review list for months now and the only thing that has been glued in my head to write down is this:

Context: Magic Tree Mike is voiced by Kaiji Tang, aka Goro Yatagarasu from Lupin Parts 5-6 and KASUGA ICHIBAN FROM YAKUZA 7 (it's hilarious his running joke is telling characters that they're the chosen one)

God of War aka Dad Simulator 2018

ProZd picking up a voice acting role in the sequel is what caused me to get into this 4 years later.

I'm not far into the game (I'm currently in Alfheim), and I'm enjoying it so far. The cutscenes are gorgeous and flow wonderfully together with the actual gameplay, which as it stands, is better than Yakuza. And I'm actually being presented a challenge when it comes to battling enemies. I've died a handful of times and I haven't gotten upset because they've all been my fault to just git gud. I'm hoping to enjoy this game to the end so I can get the sequel on the cheap side.

Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition

I started this game two years ago and picked it up again because I couldn't find something else to play and...so far it's nothing special, just your standard run of the mill JRPG. The only complaint I have so far is that the casino is entirely based on luck and requires no skill to play, unlike what I'm used to in Yakuza when playing Blackjack.

I just got all the party together and I'm off to fight a tentacle monster, but I hit another grind wall.

Stray

10/10 for cat.

8/10 for the very unsettling undertones of the overall plot. I'm probably not going to go back to it for the dystopian horror alone because it kind of makes me uncomfortable.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I've already been slandered earlier this year for what I said about Blackbeard, the Gentlemen Pirate, and Our Flag Means Death.

It's Assassin's Creed with Pirates, what more could you ask for? Although, I have played a bit of Valhalla and I can see that this game was the one that started the beginning of 'less assassins, more random countries with assassins as the side plot' because the main character of this game does not care about the plot that Ezio was fighting for in his trilogy years before the plot of 4 happened.

Crafting system is no me gusta. 6/10.

The Wolf Among Us

I will get back to this....eventually. Story is pretty decent and I like Bigby. 9/10.

World of Final Fantasy

I don't know if I will plan to complete this game from beginning to end, but I'm committed since I'm already at the halfway point. This game is just Pokemon: Final Fantasy edition so I'm not that invested in the plot, but I am interested as to what happened to these two twins. Like, are they even real or is this a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet moment?

Even if I do quit at some point, there is only one character I must interact with if I don't decide to carry on and it was decided the last time I played, which was six months ago.

One thing I learned about Jaehyun from reading your blog is that he is different from who he was 4 or 5 years ago

And also I feel like who he really is how he was back in like 2016 to 2018 but he’s hiding it to fit how the fans view him but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if SM told him to calm down how he use to act I mean Taeyong exposed them saying they told him to change the way he use to talk so we really don’t know what goes on behind the scenes

He appears to be different on camera. There is a difference. Yes, he is still like he was in 2018, we can see it in games, when he is having fun and drops his image.

There is one change that often happens with people like him, it's him narrowing the circle of people he is open up to. To put is simply, he was a playful puppy with everyone, now only with his close friends and Doyoung. It's especially noticeable with his relationship with Taeyong. That's "growing up" effect. He entered a new society, was looking out for people who would accept and like him, then he found those he clicked with, and "cut off" the rest. As a younger trainee he needed guidence and protection, but now, as a successful idol who pulls his weight in his group, he doesn't need it.

I do think the managers advised him to strenghten his straight image (mainly because he did those Jae's day vlogs), however, with idols it's the opposite - they debut with a set image, but after several years they can show their true colours if they want. Taeyong is the best example. His image at debut was that of a reliable leader, stoic, a bit of a "bad guy" vibe. He got thunder and fire as effects. Now he is a rose and the softie Tyong, who shows himself drunk on IG lives and plays with the sweet potato filter.

That being said, it takes guts to drop the idol image. Jaehyun planned (he promised to do lots of IG lives and show interests, do Yuuno days), but his scandal of 2020 happened.

People like Jaehyun have hard time pretending to be somone else, that's why Jaehyun simply doesn't do anything during lives and avoids participation in commotions. On the brighter side, it also means that when he would stop caring about a possible backlash (feel strong himself enough), he'd be himself again. Jaehyun's behaviour depends on his mood, his current state.
