Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - Update!
Masterlist
Given the recent release of the Epilogue, I've rethought almost every part of my previous theory, meaning there's a lot to go over so let's get going right away (as always, the original post was updated so check that out for the full theory):
I'd first like to say that all the information I’m referencing here comes from the MV, Prologue and Epilogue, Hongjoong’s Q&A shorts and the MV reaction video
Dimension-wise, we're in another dimension very close to the Z-Dimension where the Revolution has already ended but not quite so successfully, as we can see by the city up in smoke and rubble in the background
Tumblr media
Since we've got Yunho sitting inside a ginormous, shattered Cromer, we can assume either (A) these guys themselves have already traveled through time and dimension to get here (which would align with what we see in the iconic Mnet livestage with the red and black outfits) and are now stuck until they found another one to take them back home - wherever that home may be or (B) this entire room is the remainder of the Black Pirates' hideout and the Cromer was destroyed by one of them before they were captured so it wouldn't fall into the hands of the government (which could mean one of them escaped to another dimension)
Tumblr media
Going by the lyrics, they've already been here long before the Revolution and used to live as regular citizens in Strictland before they had their microchips removed by the Black Pirates - I'm largely basing that on the iconic "No more, keep control" and "No more, keep your soul" -> they want to be in charge of their own lives, to feel and have free thought as opposed to the mindless drones the chips had forced them to be
Tumblr media
Another thing worthy of noting is that, as the bell rings, we can see Seonghwa glitch which could have several meanings: they've got hologram technology which helps them make public appearances in the daytime more safely OR (given the ominous vibes of the sound and the association with the bell) they're either not fully human (which would also explain the post-production added CGI glint we see in Jongho's eye at two separate points in the MV) or otherwise existing in this dimension on borrowed time.
Alternatively, the bell could also indicate that our protoganists are more powerful at certain points in time and this is a visualization of that power. As the moonphases affect the Cromer, they may also affect them.
Tumblr media
Regarding the Black Pirate outfits we're seeing throughout the video: our protagonists here were freed by them, alongside all the other people we get to see in the plaza and abandoned mall, but without Ateez's help, they didn't manage to stay undetected so the government either captured or straight-up murdered them
Left behind and without guidance while everyone is praying for the Black Pirates return (see: the Prologue), our protagonists have now stepped up and are rebuilding the movement - though whether they're burning the Black Pirates' outfits as a funeral ritual, out of frustration and anger due to feeling abandoned... or because the tattered clothes were strung up that way by the government to scare off further acts of rebellion Vlad-the-Impaler style which would make this a symbol of defiance, is unclear
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regardless, many of the other citizens who were freed seem willing to join their cause and their current mission seems to be to take down this anti-gravity orb
Tumblr media
I can only make a rather baseless guess as to what the purpose of these things is but since it's actively rising here, it seems to be something newly installed that's meant to rise above city-level
The central government presumably built and installed it so maybe it can send out some kind of pulse or signal to regain control over the population - after all, the chips seem to have only had the link cut but weren't removed so re-establishing the link could be possible as long as the hardware wasn't fully fried (which would've probably needed harsher, more painful for the skin interference but what the heck do I know about this world's technological advances)
Either way, to me, that would explain both the fear in the lyrics about returning to their prior state of being pre-awakening, as well as why San was so ready to risk it all to break this thing
Either way, we've got Yeosang bringing in the chains to tie this thing up
Tumblr media
Based on the skyline compared to the one from the prologue, it seems like the thick smoke pillars might be originating from the crash sites of the other orbs which would mean they already brought down all the other ones successfully and have now reached their last stop
Tumblr media
They wrap the chains around the orb, tie it up all nice and neatly (which must've been a pain in the ass to do since that thing is floating in mid air, makes lightweight shit in its vicinity float and is well, the shape of a super smooth ball) and all start pulling together up until everyone seemingly leaves San to finish the job by himself
To me, there could be multiple reasons for this: (1) it was always part of the plan (highly unlikely imo), (2) everyone but San lost hope this was gonna work out since they're already exhausted af from doing this several times before and don't seem to have made all that much progress and maybe they think they've already done enough since this is seemingly the last orb left, (3) San convinced everyone to leave as they were working/everyone but him got too scared to continue because Android Guardians or another government entity were underway and would've killed or captured them if they were caught
Either way, it all ends with the orb evaporating the moment it collides with San as if his existence somehow cancelled out the orb's. While this is very likely to be a creative decision since no one wants to see this human embodiment of sunshine get crushed to death, it could also mean San is still alive if he possesses abilities that go beyond a regular human's or if the orb isn't made up of regular matter/material.
Tumblr media
Moving on to the Prologue and Epilogue:
Aside from what I already covered, there are also quite a few other things I want to bring up regarding what we get to see in these two bonus videos, starting with the numbers behind Hongjoong in the Prologue here (which were also pointed out by him in the Making Of video)
Tumblr media
You can put these numbers (22152984) and decode them with A1Z26 in which case you'd get this (yes, I still use the Gravity Falls: Break the Code website for this kinda stuff - I refuse to be judged for it):
Tumblr media
While this is rather nonsensical, it is quite close to "Bluebird" which would fit the lyrics but it's still just a lil bit unsatisfying since, properly encoded, it should have been "2-12-21-5-2-9-18-4", meaning they forgot a "1" twice.
Regardless, I couldn't find anything better - it can't be coordinates, there's no cypher like this for Hangul that I could find, and using Base64 only gets you "my8" which doesn't make too much sense but Ateez are 8 members so that's nice, I guess.
The first thing that pops up in my search results when I look up the numbers is "Buy 22152984 from Oxygen Electronics" by the way - shout out to life support machine parts you can order online (no affiliation, though I do hope they're an ethical company)
Regarding the numbers, I'll leave it at that for now but if I ever find something that makes more sense, I'll update this!
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the mysterious blonde person that pops up toward the end of the Prologue and disappears in the blink of an eye as someone walks past
Seonghwa is the only one who takes note of them and, based on his neutral expression, it doesn't seem to be the first time he's seen them
Tumblr media
Are they the Witness? I do think so but we'll come back to it in a moment.
Skipping ahead to the Prologue uploaded yesterday, we're opening with a shot of the bluebird we've already gotten to see in the Prologue and which has also been referenced in the lyrics - it's a symbol of reclaiming freedom, of escaping your shackles, of finding your voice and using it. They've now made it. They've chosen freedom. They've chosen to fight.
Tumblr media
The bird's path now guides Seonghwa through the abandoned mall where the orb was brought down and San was sacrificed. It whistles a lil tune and disappears near a lone white-clad figure we've seen before.
Tumblr media
Last seen among a small group on the rooftop at the end of the MV, our blondie stands by themselves again, though the others aren't far as we'll soon see
Tumblr media
Since the mission is now over, Seonghwa let's his curiosity win and follows the figure up a dark staircase, letting his flashlight guide him
He finds the group of four from the rooftop standing in a dark room against the backdrop of the smoking skyline behind the large windows - they were waiting for him
Tumblr media
A white flash, rolling thunder and they're gone. Just like after Yeosang broke the Cromer, we also got to witness the Cromer's powers here. This marks the third Cromer, meaning these four are from yet another dimension and they've now become Witnesses of our protagonists' achievements.
They also left behind a departing gift: a silver bracelet engraved with the words "Be Free"
Tumblr media
Like A-Dimension's Seonghwa, it seems the blonde Witness has also gotten inspired by their dimension's version of the dancing girl (whom I theorize to be Left Eye's daughter) and they've now left behind this bracelet, hoping it'll inspire this dimension's Seonghwa the way it inspired them

Tumblr media
Captain Kid was sulking in a bar in the capital city of Wano. The festival going on should have improved his mood but he was mad as hell. He took down an emperor and a literal clown took his rightful place as a new emperor. And the World Government named a literal child as a new emperor too. Why the fuck was the universe so against him???
He knocked back the sake, he wanted to get raging drunk and then slink home to the ship. He was so bummed he made Killer leave, not wanting to be a damper on his friend’s night for his role in the battle. Kid also regretted the decision. He was wallowing in self pity and leaning gravely into despair, Killer would be easing his frayed nerves and hyping him up. He held up his empty glass to the bartender, he needed to get much drunker.
A group of patrons at a nearby table erupted in cheers, toasting their glasses together before knocking them back. Kid squinted in their direction, trying to focus through the buzz. He recognized those people, from where…oh yeah. They were ninja and they had been in the fight on Onigashima along the samurai, minks and pirates. Hmm, he wondered if that one kunoichi was among the group.
The one ninja sitting with their back to him got up and made their way to the bathroom – it was the kunoichi! She had caught Kid’s eye when he had put the final blow into Big Mom. As he was laying down on the floor battered to shit with Law, samurai and ninjas had stepped up and defended them and their crews.
She had been the first one to jump in the line of fire for them. Or rather, she and her clones. Scared the shit out of him at first when they popped up out of nowhere; he thought he was dead for sure when they reached him to check on him. Seeing that he was just out of breath and needed a moment to recuperate, she gave him a knowing nod before doing a cool backflip and jumping into battle, clones in tow.
Kid drank his sake as he commiserated in the memories; shaken out of his thoughts when he saw her come back to her table. She was pretty hot, in battle and out. She had long Y/H/C that she tied back into a sleek ponytail. Not a bad body either, eying her from head to toe. He wasn’t sure he had it in him to even bother pursuing, he was in that bad of a rut. Her table was getting progressively louder the more they drank, and it made him feel worse.
“I heard that the pirate who took out Kaido started the festival by shooting fireworks from his shoulders! What a wild guy!”
Kid snorted, the only thing Luffy threw was his damn beer, spilling it on Kid who got literally wrapped up in the rubber bastard’s limbs as he tried to cut him down. Stupid fool thought they were buddies? Fuck that noise! Kid noped the fuck outta there.
“Let’s head over there and buy them drinks to say our thanks!” another ninja cried, the others agreeing quickly as they threw money down on the table, rising to leave. All but her.
She had a buttery voice that made Kid’s ears perk. “You’re not going to start with the Pirate Captain who is already here?”
“YOU MEAN LUFFY-SAN?”
“LAW-SAN?!!”
“Kid-san over at the bar.”
Kid nearly choked on his drink, he thought he had been unobserved the whole time.
“Uhhh dunno Y/N, he doesn’t look too approachable.”
“Tsk too scared? And you call yourselves ninja.”
“Why don’t you thank him?”
“I already did.”
Confused, Kid stops his eavesdropping as the bartender placed an unopened bottle of liquor and folded note next to his glass. “From the woman at the other end,” she pointed.
Looking across the bar, Kid saw the same kunoichi leaning against the bar table, smiling at him and then with a cross of her hands in front of her – she was gone in a poof. Now VERY confused, Kid swiveled his head back at the group and saw that they were already leaving the bar. The Y/N was the last out the door and she turned back, meeting his eyes. She gave him a nod and walked out, hands tugging the pockets of her leather jacket down.
Kid looked at the bottle, it was an expensive brand and that made him crack a smirk. Opening the note, he read her curved handwriting: thank you for your help liberating my country. On the back there was a sketch of the festival route with little arrow markers. With a shrug, Kid chugged the sake in his glass and left the bar with his gifted bottle, intent on finding the ninjas.
He was quick to catch up to them, easy to spot the taller ninja of the group against the crowd, Kid followed a few meters behind them. Y/N suddenly broke off from the group without a word to her squadron, making a sharp left turn down a less crowded street. Looking back at the note, Kid quickly realized she was going down the route she had drawn.
Smirking, he dashed down the same corridor, doing his utmost best to keep quiet as he followed the sole ninja. She was fast, he lost sight of her almost immediately but he had the map so he made do. After he made the last turn, he realized that there were a few small houses down the street from the port. Looking left to right, he tried to deduce where the kunoichi could have gone.
It took Kid several houses before he finally peered into a window and found her. She was laying in bed with her pants down and her top pushed up, exposed, and playing with herself. Well now, he could do with a free show, might even cure him of all his woes.
He glanced around the street; he was mostly hidden from view and that was good enough for him. He unzipped his pants and whipped his cock out, slowly jerking himself to the sexy kunoichi.
“Finally found me huh?” she panted out loud.
Kid froze, shit he hadn’t meant to get caught so quickly.
“It’s ok, I don’t mind,” she husked, sitting up to discard of her pants entirely. She looked to him through the partially open window. “Bra on or off?”
“Off,” he coughed into his elbow. “Erm…thanks for the booze.”
“Heh least I could do,” she dropped the last of her clothes and laid back in the bed. “You gonna watch from outside or do you want to sit inside?”
Kid sat in the fabric armchair, drinking his bottle and stroking his cock, watching the kunoichi – Y/N now that they were on a first name basis – rub fast circles on her clit. She moaned and rolled her hips as she changed her pace.
“Play with yer tits more,” he crowed.
Y/N cupped her breast, squeezing her flesh and pulling her nipple. Tweaking it while she tweaked her nub, making sharp inhalations.
“Verrry nice,” he purred, increasing his pace and grip on his throbbing cock. “Y’know, this is hot ‘n all but I prefer being deep inside.”
“Oh you want penetration?” she giggled, plunging a finger deep in her core. “Sure if you can find the real me.”
Kid’s shaved eyebrows rose into his goggles. “The real you?”
Y/N pulled her fingers out of her pussy and sucked them clean. With a cross of her hands, she once again disappeared. Kid shot up from his seat, was he being pranked??? The sound of more poofing echoed in the room and suddenly there were five more clones of Y/N in a skimpy dress, beckoning him.
“If you can find me, you can stick it in me.”
Kid cocked a leer, sure he liked games, especially when he gets to be the hunter.
“When I find you, I’m gonna pin you down and take you the way I want.”
The clones pranced around the room, calling out at him to distract him, luring him to false promises. Kid pounced on the first one, throwing her to the bed and pinning her. Pressing his cock against her warm stomach, he husked into her ear.
“Gotcha.”
He spread her legs and positioned himself over her, pushing her dress up and brushing against her naked center. She was wet, Kid began to push in, feeling her heat pulse around the edge of his tip. She crossed her hands and she was gone – Kid dipped into the bed, shocked, and now annoyed. Ok, time to dial it up a notch.
Kid hoisted another clone over his hips and slammed her into the wall, kissing her harshly and rushing his hand to her pussy. He got the first digit of his middle finger inside her before she also disappeared. He threw the third clone face down on the carpet and ripped her dress off, spanking her ass and watching her cheeks jiggle. He spread her thighs and watched her silk spill from her core in a thick line – he caught it in his hand and lubed his cock, aching to bury himself in her. Before he could get an inch and a half of his cock in her, she disappeared.
Now his cock was hurting. The fourth one tripped and fell on her back, and when he landed on top of her, hands kneading her tits and cock rubbing between her folds, he managed to get three inches deep in her before she also disappeared. There was only one left – Kid was fucking determined and ready to ruin her. She leapt on furniture and dashed around him, running through the house to evade him, teasing him with flashes of her body or blowing kisses every time he just missed her. Watching her lithe body twist and turn, he quickly learned how to predict her next move and as she leapt into the air, Kid dove to her intended spot and caught her.
He dropped her on the bed and held her by her hair, positioning her in front of his cock.
“I hope you’re fucking ready for me,” he growled, pinching her chin to open her mouth and stuffing his cock in her face. Her wet muscle squirmed over his heavy cock as he thrusted himself up to the hilt. He grunted out, “fuck this sure feels real,” sighing. “Too bad it’s not, you tease.”
The clone disappeared and he hung his head. Pacing around the room, “y’know I was totally willing to be a generous lover tonight but after this stunt, the first four orgasms are going to be my own.”
His ears picked up something in the corner behind a paper divider he had overlooked. He reached with his haki, so she was there the whole time but she managed to disperse her energy signature amongst each clone to fool him into thinking she was out there.
Using his dagger, he ripped the divider to ribbons and pushed through. Y/N was laid up on a purple chaise lounge, lace bra and panties shoved aside as she pleasured herself.
“Took you long enough,” she gasped.
Kid towered over her, cock bobbing angrily while he pinned her down by the shoulders. “That was pretty cute. I hope it was worth it because I am going to leave here having filled every one of your holes, twice,” he growled.
“I’m ok with being a sacrifice after what you did,” she squeaked.
“Don’t break on me,” he husked, angling his hips and burying his bursting cock deep into her warm and wet pussy, Y/N crying out from the way it split her open.
“Ah shit, you’re nice and tight. This is gonna be a good night after all.”

I got 25 (late) asks 😅 (its got some fnaf lore too tho!👀)
Tumblr media
You know? You’ve got a point. I cant imagine Monty getting split in half would be a fun thing to remember..
But honestly? If Monty remembered everything that happened that night? The damage he took from the splash bucket would be small potatoes to him. The thing that would REALLY freak him out is remembering how he went berserk and tried to hunt down and kill a child.
Tumblr media
And Pyro! XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SLKAJLKDJF THANK YOUUUU!!!
--As for how I create headcannons/AUs,, XD
Headcannons and AUs are mostly just me filling in the blanks in cannon in my own ✨special✨ way.
Like FNAF Security Breach for example.
Me: “So what happened to Bonnie exactly? Did Monty REALLY destroy him out of jealousy? How did Afton get down there in the basement? Why is Foxy never mentioned despite Pirates cove being a thing? Is he even IN the story? How come all the animatronics were attacking you? How come Freddy WASN’T attacking you? What made Freddy crash on stage? What happened to Vanny and the animatronics after Gregory left? How does the Daycare attendant work? Is he two animatronics in one? Is he two separate animatronics? How can his FABRIC CLOTHES physically change color if the game implies they are the same animatronic? WHY was Gregory at the pizzaplex in the first place??“
FNAF/Steel wool: “Lol figure it out”
Me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, although I will not specify where they are in the story or what is going to become of them.
I can confirm that yes, both William Afton and Vanny are not only in my AU, but both play a major role in the over all story. :}
Tumblr media
Hmmm, good question... Now, my memory isn’t the best. But out of all the fandoms I’ve jumped into? I’d probably say Octonauts was the most welcoming and overall supportive of me.
I think part of it was because the Octonauts fandom is a bit small.. so when a new artist came around it was like “Heck yeah man! Common in! :DDD”
And also most of the angst lovers in the fandom were on the same page as me, so I got a lot of support there too XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tank qqqq!!! :}}}} ❤❤❤
Tumblr media
I have! And I’ve seen a few episodes of it. So far I really like it! Mostly because there were episodes centered around my favorite characters XD (Captain Barnacles, Calico Jack, Ranger Marsh and Professor Natquik)
Tumblr media
XD I’m glad you like them! Although I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be posting them. Considering I’m making more progress in the FNAF writing.. 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tank qqq,, I’m glad you like him! :DD And I’m sure DJMM would be glad to hear someone say that XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cant find the WORDS for this, this was all so SWEET AHHOASKNLKM This really hit me right in my heart man- I hjust- HSFDF
THANK YOU SO MUCHH!! This was such a nice thing to read!!!😭😭😭
Tumblr media
(Post in ask)
Actually, funnily enough Engineer isn’t wounded in this comic. This was before his injury.
Engineer is just freaking the heck out over the dolls outside.. 👀
(But yes he does recover from his injury that he gets later in the story)
Tumblr media
Actually, you may be in luck! Have you heard the news going around? There was some updates recently and a lot of the bots have been weeded out.
When I heard the news, I couldn’t believe it. So I hopped on to see what was up and sure enough.. the casual servers were surprisingly clean. I mean there’s still a bot here and there. But it wasn’t like before when you couldn't even leave spawn without getting sniped from across the map.
The casual servers actually have real players now, and most of the bots have been wiped out :}}
Or at least, uh. It was like that last time I checked a few months ago. Maybe the bots came back idk--
Tumblr media
I don’t like it when people draw fanart of my stuff.
But if you were to draw fanart and never show/tell anyone and it would only be for your eyes to see? I mean, what am I gonna do? Be upset about something that I have no idea was drawn?
The only set back would be the ✨soul crushing guilt✨ of drawing fanart of some of my stuff even though you know I don’t vibe with that XD
Tumblr media
@orionapraxnia
Not.. really? I mean, if I miss a fandom, I just. Jump back into it XD
Like I did with TF2 recently. I was getting a little burnt out with writing so I took a short break by diving head first into TF2 again XD
I used to shy away from parkouring from fandom to fandom back in the day. But now a days I find that I have more fun by just drawing what ever I feel like drawing at the time. And my followers don’t seem to mind sooo,, XD
Tumblr media
@burningmusicfunnygiant
Tumblr media
Yes sirrr, those two were best buds back in the day,
Tumblr media
(Here’s a link to the video)
I went and watched the video. And although it was pretty cool!.. It was a fan-made video. Its not an actual DLC..😅
Tumblr media
@paintedpig I have a voice in mind for Foxy actually! I imagine him sounding just like his cannon voice. You can hear it in the Ultimate custom night voice lines.
As for Bonnie? I don’t think I really have one in mind for him... But I know he doesn’t sound high pitched and goofy. Like Nedd bear or Goofy the dog. I imagine his voice is deeper and more chill. Kind’a like what Freddy Fazbear might sound like?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank youuu,,, :}}}
Tumblr media
Aww, I’m glad! :D
And its not that I don’t like those comics anymore. I’m still proud of them and like how they came out! Its just that from a lore perspective,, they don’t fit into the story anymore. Soooo for the sake of telling the story, they need a do over! :}
Tumblr media
@sweetturtledonkeycookie  I usually draw/post what ever fandom I’m into at the time. After my FNAF re-faze dies down maybe I’ll jump back into Octonauts. Or Undertale, ooorrrr jump into a NEW fandom like Sam and Max or something XD I cant predict what faze I’m going to go through next! You’re just going to have to wait and see! 😅
Tumblr media
Yeah, I figured that the story was probably great and the characters were probably great.. but I judged a book by its cover and turned the other way <XD
Right now I have a lot of shows that I’m too lazy to watch that I mean to get around to someday. I guess for the sake of the story I’ll have to add Transformers animated to the list and give it the shot it deserves. :}
Tumblr media
@mysteriousl0ser Roxy only got put up on stage after Bonnie was decommissioned, yes.
When Foxy was taken, the Band took a hit without their Keytar player. But the company hadn’t thought to put the other animatronics on stage in his place. Mostly because Monty/Roxy wouldn’t have really fit into the group..
But when Bonnie was damaged? Now they were down their Keytar player and their Bass player. So at that point they really needed to rebuild the band for that nights show so they tossed Monty and Roxy on the stage in their places.. <:/
As for how long the gap was between Foxy and Bonnie’s decommissions? That part of the timeline hasn’t been fully ironed out yet.. but I’d say about maybe 4 months to a year? It was supposed to feel like when the animatronics were finally starting to get back up on their feet and began to process Foxy’s death.. Bonnie was unexpectedly taken too. Knocking them all back down again..
Also thank you!! :DDD I’m glad you like them!! :}}
Tumblr media
@johnbrownanarchist XD Thanks! It took me a while to figure out what he would look like back in the old days.
As for the description thing? I suppose you could use it. I mean, who doesn’t like Monty in a silly hat? XD
Tumblr media
@wackigremlinchild Tank you!! :}} I did my best!
Tumblr media
@conflicted-phoenix XD That is one of the highest complements I have ever received.

[Rambling] Stolen/Repost Stories
The gal of some people!!
Hi Guys!
This is not an update but a slight rambling/rant.
I recently learned from you guys that someone is reposting my stories, From Caged Marines to Whitebeard Pirates and the Admiral Brother, without my permission on Wattpad under a different account and name, this made me angry, especially when I saw the Admiral Brother being posted on Wattpad. (From Caged Marine fic is already posted on Wattpad under my name, as well as fanfiction.net).
The Admiral Brother is a story I adopted from RulerOfTheCosmos, I made sure to ask permission from them and I gave them credit for this. The sites that I allowed The Admiral Brother to be on are AO3 and my Patreon account, aside from that it won't and shouldn't be posted anywhere else but this person dared to post this story without my knowledge as if they have the right to do so.
They even have everything up to date, especially From Caged Marine, which I updated on the 25th of December (shocker they also made an update the same day as well). And it's not only me, there are also stories from my fellow authors as well, I normally won't be upset about something like this as long as you ask for permission and give credit to us authors, of course.
I don't know if my fellow authors are experiencing the same issue as I have when it comes to updating or creating stories... but as an author, I already found it hard thinking about what words I need to use or put in each chapter, what scenario should be there, and if an idea popped up then I have to write it down followed by thinking on when or where should I add that.
Knowing that someone posted my stories to their account and other sites (in the case of the Admiral Brother) without my permission or even giving me credit is no longer making me angry alone but hurting me as well as I type this down. The stories that I enjoyed creating and sharing with my readers... now seem to be taken from me. Everything that we, I, authors worked hard for seems to be someone else work, a work that is very easy to do since they can just copy and paste everything.
Guys, it's not that hard to ask permission, we will give you answers if you ask us, and I will give you some answers! Someone asked me months ago a permission to translate From Caged Marine to Spanish, and I allowed them, I told them that it was fine as long as credits were provided... but the person I'm talking about right now is not the same one who asked permission.
I had a lot of words to say when I first found out about this... now, I am at a loss... and I'm afraid I have to be a bearer of bad news...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I won't be updating my stories to any sites, aside from Patreon... for now.
I am filing a report against this person and I will be checking other sites to see if my stories are also posted there. I will still be putting previews on Tumblr but chapters will not be shown on Wattpad, FFN, and AO3 unless... And until everything is resolved... there will be no updates...
I don't want to do a no update, since I have been missing a lot of them, but since this person updated my latest From Caged Marine on their account on the same day I did... I won't take that risk anymore.
I will be needing your guys' help and that is to report this person as well.
Here are the links
Until then...

Screaming and ripping and tearing and crying and howling and shredding and scratching and barking and
I get it. I do. And the loss of any safe piracy hosts is always to be grieved because that's access being denied to countless people who never would have had access otherwise. But book piracy specifically is The Only Piracy That Actually Hurts Someone. Please just uSE YOUR LOCAL FUCKING LIBRARY JESUS CHRIST. we're RIGHT HERE. we're FREE. and we don't MAKE THE PUBLISHERS SO MAD THEY CANCEL CONTRACTS WITH THE AUTHORS LEAVING THEM WITH ZERO INCOME. when you pirate books, various publishing companies have ways of keeping an eye on the ratio between purchased and pirated copies of a specific book in question. A lot of the time, if that number goes too high, instead of I don't know ~cracking down on piracy sites~ or ~putting the books on sale~ they blame the author and cut the contract. Meaning the author stops getting paid entirely. And that's the BETTER outcome. That ✨️clever tiktok trick✨️ for renting reading and returning books on amazon? Oho my friend someone still pays for that book! Guess who! THATS RIGHT THE AUTHOR.
I g e t the need for free books. Everything is expensive right now and $20 for a book that will take you a day to read feels obscene. Go to your local library. Don't gimme that 'but they don't have the book I want' shit--have you Asked? Because beloved guess what? When we genuinely don't have a book you want to read we reach out to sister branches in the area until we find a copy for you! It's called an interlibrary loan and it's completely normal! Sometimes there's a shipping fee if it had to come across state borders. Did you know you can also suggest books we add to our catalogue? And I remind you getting a library card is free. And we have half dozen online resources that are also made free by your having a library card. You Do need a piece of mail with 'your' address on it but besties. Y'all. Do you think we have the kind of time to check if you're giving us Your address or your Grandparent's address? No. Just give us the address of some family member in the area, it doesn't really matter much, you can change or update it whenever. Don't tell anyone I suggested that though lol.
On a very selfish level, our counties don't like giving us our yearly budget. The old cis white capitalist men, shockingly, don't seem to like the beacon of socialism that is public libraries. A lot of the time the excuse they use to literally just not pay us is 'the youth of today don't use libraries anymore, they're more interested in *insert 'them video games' schpiel*'
If you came to the library they wouldn't have that excuse anymore. We're not the cardigan wearing shushers in the movies I swear. We've got Mario kart wii in our teen room.
I'm sorry you lost your book piracy website, genuinely I am. You should have been using the library all along though. Pirating books Does hurt the author. And libraries nowadays have massive digital catalogues so even if you aren't physically close to one there is enormous f r e e benefit to getting a library card. Please god go to your local library

October 25, 2019 (pre-recorded on October 4, 2019):
Kid (wearing a pirate costume): We're about to watch another episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog, but first...
(TRANSITION)
Chao: Hey Davis, I think it's about time we do some traveling.
Davis (in Scorpi's body): Oh, oh, can I pick one this time??
Chao: *sigh* As long as it's not another Mixels promo.
Davis: Don't worry, it isn't. Since it's October, I wanted to show off a CN spot that I think is really spooky. One that I think about every Halloween.
Chao: Ooooh, do you mean-
Davis: I certainly do.
Chao: Well, go right ahead.
Davis: Ladies and gentlemen, let's take a trip to Spain with a special Halloween edition of Cartoon Network Around the World!!!
Audience: *applause*
*a 2008 CN Halloween commercial from Spain plays, click here to check it out yourself*
Audience: *applauds once the spot ends*
Chao: Man, you sure do love that commercial from Spain, huh?
Davis: Chao, I've been a fan of it since I was like... 7 or something.
Chao: I see.
(TRANSITION)
Kid (wearing a dinosaur costume): We take you now to another episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog and "King Ramses' Curse", right here on Fridays.
================================================
For October 2019, each Friday night consisted almost entirely of episodes of "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog".
I say "almost entirely" because we still had to premiere new episodes each week, specifically of Mixels (due to contract mandates).
However, to not make it seem as if we were putting Mixels on a pedestal with this (since the contract stuff was kept secret), we decided to also keep airing new episodes of Wii Sports Resort each week.
11/6 UPDATE: We didn't just assume that people would be upset about us only airing new Mixels episodes each week, this had actually happened prior to October 2019. On January 4, 2019, Fridays celebrated Ed, Edd n Eddy's 20th anniversary with the most popular episodes of the show. However, we still needed to air a new Mixels because of the contract stuff. Naturally, Fridays was highly criticized for, as you may have guessed, putting Mixels on a pedestal over the other shows. Once again, the contract mandates weren't known by anyone at the time (except for the people who worked on Fridays).
One more thing, the reason this was pre-recorded was because Chao (the Mixel with brown hair that I didn't create) wanted to include a Halloween edition of our "Around the World" segment for the last Friday before Halloween.
However, because we were hosting the latter 3 weeks of the month in a haunted house set (which was identical to the Halloween 2005 set), we decided to pre-record the segment on October 4, as that was the only October 2019 show where we hosted on our normal Fridays set.
There also another segment from October 25, 2019 that I'll be sharing with you. That'll come out tomorrow.

Chapter 1079 — The Red-Haired Pirates - An Emperor’s Crew
All rights, so the formation of Neo-MADS wrapped up the Germa cover story arc. Wonder when we'll see those guys again – and on which side of the upcoming war.
Anyways.
I read the chapter.
And then took a break.
Went for a walk. Pondered life. Cursed Odacchi's name to the heavens and thanked the universe for bringing us such a masterful storyteller.
Nothing for it but to go through it.
First off, an update on Egghead: Confirmation on York's plan and what happened before this. She ordered S-Snake to unfreeze her later and adds another mystery; which area can't be damaged? However, it is clear York isn't the brightest bulb: the 'hostages' refer to the P-agents, I assume, and we've seen how much the Government cares for those guys in the past. Not a very good hostage.
Tumblr media
Chaos on Egghead, people trying to get away. Will they manage, or will the navy blast them to kingdom come?
However, on the outside…
Tumblr media
…THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD.
a) The Hearts didn't manage to take down Blackbeard's ship
b) That looks very much like a certain fluffy cap and cursed sword…
c) Not to get ahead of things, but when looking at the end of the chapter… o_O
Welp. Before we get there, we have several pages more to go through.
Tumblr media
Shank's minions are adorably weak. At least Luffy has some power in his fleet.
It's not very healthy to build an organisation on the shoulders of one person, though… you really should take a look at that, Red-Haired allies.
Tumblr media
Shanks, also known as "Fair". Awfully nice of him to check if his opponent is up for it before attacking.
Nice little bit of characterisation going on here:
Tumblr media
Obviously Shanks' crew is almost as well-informed as Big Mom's, with the ready-prepped information package casually tossed his way. It's also interesting that Oda hides his eyes when he mentions the rampaging (which was one of the first things we learned about Kid when he was introduced into the story: he doesn't care about casualties). I know it is completely my interpretation, but it seems like Shanks is not happy about the unnecessary casualties caused.
However, Kid is also interesting here. Based on his history, he probably would have attacked the weaker fleet members as well. But we don't know to what extent. Would he have used the Damned Punk cannon then? Here Killer provides some info for him: there's a lot of bounties (i.e. dangerous people in the Government's eyes) on those ships. Why then be careful with your attack when you can take out several threats at once, especially when the weaker ones now are out of harm's way?
Tumblr media
As hinted at, Shanks is one of the most powerful haki users in the world, here confirmed by quite a long future sight. Luffy's and Katakuri's observation allowed them a few seconds into the future, while this looks to be a bit longer than that.
And he does not hold back!
Tumblr media
After years of "When will Shanks make his move?" he does, and it is glorious.
Tumblr media
Aaaw, they care so much about each other.
Kid's crew is a nice foil to Luffy's, in that they care about him (as we saw already on Wano) and he would do anything for them (as we saw in Udon) and they seem like a nice little collection of oddballs. And yet, they are the Straw Hats without the compassion and empathy for others. They care only about each other, not about the consequences of their actions for others.
Before we get to the finish, remember how Shanks asked Dorry and Brogy to help? If we look back to chapter 128 and Little Garden, just for a size comparison with the Merry:
Tumblr media
They are huge.
(And that is one pretty panel. Love the contrast of their mantles with the sea and sky.)
Tumblr media
Yes, you will.
And keeping at Little Garden:
Tumblr media
What a thought. Will the Sky Island snakes make a comeback at some point?
And… what a terrifyingly familiar pose.
Tumblr media
That is a blast and a half.
I don't think Kid is dead, however. As someone else said, the phrasing mirrors what happened with the Straw Hats at Sabaody pre-timeskip:
Tumblr media
They met their match and some, but will probably survive. Maybe learn some humility, maybe learn some restraint when it comes to rampaging.
That might be the end for Kid's pirate journey, though, with his Lode Poneglyphs gone (so they had at least Big Mom's and Kaido's, I assume) and ship gone.
But, going back to the start of the chapter: it doesn't look too good for the Hearts either…
I wonder where the fourth Lode Poneglyph is. Kaido had one, Big Mom had one, one is on Zou, and one… we don't know, do we?
Great chapter, although the break next week will break my spirit. I give it the edge of my seat and my now broken stress ball.

For real, sorry about this one, I thought I could do it on time but I my taxes took longer than I thought and I accidentally made the last update the longest chapter known to man, so I decided that I wouldn't rush it and just do things a day late. “And you’re certain that the crew is clear to board?”
“Rum’s on, Professor.”
“I beg your pardon?” he sounded offended. Shit.
“Oh- sorry, it’s uh, in the Bilge it means, like, ‘I promise.’ It’s short for ‘the rum is on it,’ so like, if I’m wrong then I’ll have to buy you a drink,” you explained, “but, like, obviously it’s not literal. Heh.”
“I see,” he was fixated on you, unfazed, “well then, I look forward to seeing it in action.”
“Yeah,” you planted your hand on your hip, “the ship is a beauty, too. Couldn’t have picked a better one myself.”
You beamed at your surroundings. The frigate wasn’t huge, not even close to the biggest ship you’d ever seen, but it was invigorating, as though it was waiting its whole life to go into battle. The coats of paint were fresh and the deck was spotless. The sails, crisp and sun-filled white, billowed in the cold air like the fabric folds of a wedding dress. The bowsprit, just above a poised swan figurehead, sliced forward with the temerity of a lightning rod.
The red pulsing climbing up from the rafters only made it look more badass, like you had some Eldritch horror below deck waiting to eat your opponents alive. Perhaps you did, you joked to yourself, as Viktor was down there right now doing a systems check.
“I remember when she was built,” the Professor said earnestly, sharing your awe, “by a young man from Bilgewater, no less.”
“Really?” you glanced down to him.
“A student of mine, in fact. Came here to study nautical engineering. He designed this vessel as a gift to the city before he left.”
“What’s he doing now?”
“Unfortunately, he’s no longer with us,” the Professor folded his hands somberly, though his eyes stayed bright, “but he lived a good life. He invented what we now know as submarines.”
Your played over his words again in your head, just to confirm.
“No way,” your face tingled with excitement, “that’s insane! And he… he made this ship?”
The Professor nodded.
“That’s so awesome,” you grinned like an idiot, trying to contain your joy in the smile as to not dump it all on this poor man. You felt so simple next to him – he’d lived 300 years of emotion and wisdom and progress, and you were impressed by his fun party fact.
There was a veteran melancholy lurking behind his forgiving smile. How someone could spend their days watching incredible people come and go like the tide and still greet each new year as a friend, you would never understand.
“I can give you access to the library if you’re interested,” he offered.
“Ah – no thank you,” you instantly regretted it when his mustache twitched with disappointment, “no, it’s not- I appreciate the offer, I just can’t read.”
You chuckled awkwardly, trying to remember when you’d gotten so soft.
“You… can’t read?” he frowned.
“Heh…” you rubbed the back of your neck, no.”
“My apologies,” he stuttered politely, “I didn’t mean to put you on the spot. I just- well, I assumed that-“
“Really, it’s all right,” you faced your palms out, “happens all the time.”
“Then… perhaps you’ll forgive another question – have you had any formal education?”
“Uh… no?”
“Homeschooling?”
“No.”
“Apprenticeship?”
“Nope.”
“Then where did you learn all of,” he gestured vaguely at the lights below the deck, “that?!”
“Um… I dunno, a lot of it just… happened?” you said dumbly, “Like, okay, I learned about wave mechanics because there was this science guy who was stuck in the port once because his compass was broken so I told him I’d fix it if he gave me some of his charts and stuff. And then I fixed his compass and… yeah. Oh! I can do numbers and stuff too – you kinda have to so you don’t get screwed over in haggling – so math wasn’t hard to pick up on, and…”
You faltered, noticing your rambling and his bewildered stare.
“Young lady,” he clapped his hands together, tone pleading, “do you understand how… extraordinary that is?”
“Uh… well lots of people in Bilgewater can’t read and they live just fine, so it’s not that-“
“No, no, I mean that,” he paused, selecting his words carefully, “you have taught yourself everything you know, and you are able to keep up with the likes of Jayce and Viktor, who have dedicated their entire lives to studying this kind of thing.”
“I wouldn’t say ‘keep up,’ I just had some good ideas, is all.”
“Just a few days ago, you simulated a stabilization reaction.”
“Viktor helped,” you almost vomited after you said that.
You were abnormally self-conscious as he tried to… well, not compliment, but try to convince you of some greatness that wasn’t there. Still, this never happened back home – your praise for a job well done was money, and you liked it that way.
“Jayce tells me that it would not have happened without you,” he said, “it appears that you and Viktor make quite the team. And, as someone who has known him for many years, I can confidently say that it is no small feat, especially when you have not been afforded the same education as him.”
Ah, so now pretending to be a student and getting to stay because you impressed the guy in charge was ‘being afforded an education.’
You didn’t say anything, worried that you would make it worse. You just stood there as he pondered you, wishing that you could throw yourself into the sea.
“I will speak to the librarian regardless,” he dropped the subject, “perhaps you would find the maps interesting.”
“That… would be cool.”
The Professor waddled down the boarding plank and rejoined the chittering ball of white fluff on the docks. You kept forgetting to ask what that was.
Wiping your hands on your pants and stretching your arms behind your back, you resolved to join Viktor below deck before the crew began to board. The open sails reminded you how little time you had.
Viktor’s lean figure was ghoulish in the red glare. You thought that the warm color made the deck look cozy, actually, as there was usually nothing but the sunlight that came through the rafters.
The crystal was in its casing, cemented into one of the support beams with wiry arteries fanning out in every direction. The magic was beating from it like a heart. It was beautiful.
“No need. I just finished,” Viktor said when he heard you descend the stairs.
“I figured,” you approached the casing and touching it, feeling its gentle buzz in your fingers, “I guess I just wanted to see it again before they set sail.”
“What is with the sentimentality?” he put his cane-less hand in his pocket and raised an eyebrow at you.
“Up yours,” you said bitterly, pulling your hand back.
“It was a genuine question.”
You scanned his expression, and he made a point to look like an impatient customer in line at a store. The sharp lines of his face intensified in the red light, but you found no aggression. You didn’t find any curiosity either; just the same exhaustion in his sagging shoulders that you both couldn’t shrug off when you were around each other. Well, at least you knew that he wasn’t trying to start anything.
“I dunno,” you shrugged, “I mean, It’s not coming back with me, so it’s the last time I’ll ever see it, and I was just working on it every second for like, four days. Guess I wanted to say goodbye.”
“Ah,” he turned back towards the wave inverter, “that makes sense.”
“I’m sure it’ll be put to good use, though,” you patted the machine, “not that I’m fond of supporting Piltover’s navy, but any pirates who stole my design will get what’s coming to ‘em.”
“They will indeed,” Viktor nodded, “though wiring it to an entire city is more impressive than a single boat if you ask me.”
“I think anyone who had to smell us would beg to differ.”
“Then they can beg.”
A laugh bubbled out of your mouth before you could stop it. He sounded so maniacal, like a fairy tale villain, and the red backlighting didn’t help.
You approached the stairwell, satisfied with your work. He didn’t follow. You looked over your shoulder to find him standing, dead still, hypnotized by the eye like it was a siren’s call. And you were the sentimental one.
You were going to tell him to hurry his ass up, but, as a gift for the laugh, you opted for a simple “don’t take too long” as you ascended the stairs.
Later, perched on the ledge outside the lab’s window, the same one that you had jumped from the first night, you watched the ship go out to sea. Even though it was fully staffed, the boat looked very lonely.
*****
Viktor remembered Detective Foster. He was the one who had come to Hextech’s rescue by figuring out the fake crystals. He looked like shit.
Instead of the groomed gentleman that appeared in court, the detective was a spent dead man walking. He’d worked through the night, if the curst in his eyes and his patchy facial hair were anything to go by, and he greeted Viktor, Jayce, and you with bloodshot rings in his eyes that were definitely due to the coffee cup in his trembling hand.
The station door closed and he took a very long gulp.
“The two Bilgewater pirates escaped.”
Viktor was speechless, at both the improbability and the inconvenience. They’d spent the night here, and you three were supposed to question them in the afternoon once the wave inverter was installed on the new ship.
He didn’t remember much besides a vicious scar across the bottom lips on one of them and the hostile look that the other gave him. Hostile but aware, like they were old enemies, even though Viktor had never met either of them in his life.
“How?!” you said finally, barely holding back some expletives from the end of that question. Viktor could practically see the smoke coming out of the whirring gears in your head as you tried to process it, lips barely touching in a half-gape and eyes blinking with disorientation.
“We don’t know.”
The detective lead them down the hallway, not slowing down as Jayce and Viktor took in their surroundings. Viktor had never been in an Enforcer station before, and he expected it to look a lot less bureaucratic.
Only a few Enforcers were in full uniform – everyone else had business casual attire with a badge somewhere on their person. They looked like office workers as they speed walked between file towers, chatted over the water cooler, and followed him across the room with their eyes like it was the most exciting thing that had happened all day.
Even though two people escaped from prison.
The field of desks was already huge, and, with the additional stations around town and the squads of officers currently on patrol, Viktor was hit by the realization that there was a small army of Enforcers hiding in plain sight. Why did it take so many of them just to keep Piltover free from crime?”
Ah yes, Viktor remembered. It wasn’t just about protecting Piltover, it was about defending against the made-up threat of the Undercity.
Jayce’s eyes were shifting. He looked stunned, almost disgusted, and Viktor wondered how many Piltovians were aware of the city’s vigilant blue underbelly. Enforcers in public spaces were the illusion of security, while the real defense happened behind the scenes – stopping crimes before they happened and shutting down any Zaunites that got too confrontational. Perhaps hiding how many Enforcers there actually were was important to the illusion of safety as well.
Viktor spotted wild black hair and brown eyes through one of the doors in the hallway.
“Wait, wait a minute- why is he here?” he put a hand on Jayce’s shoulder and gestured towards the door with his cane.
“Alex?” Jayce said, a little too loudly.
Alex lifted his head up and sullenly flipped Jayce off. He was trapped in the small room, all by himself, for gods knows how long. His head drooped back into his hands.
“What? He’s supposed to be in the Municipal Building,” you crossed your arms and joined the hallway blockade. The detective sighed.
“Yeah, well, we figured with two criminals on the loose who possibly know of his involvement, it wasn’t safe for him anywhere else.”
“Of course it’s not fucking safe, but I don’t see how locking him in there like a prisoner is going to help,” you gestured rigidly with your open hand.
“We’ve got a lot on your plate right now, we’re getting the social worker to come in and see him,” the detective said calmly. You were not convinced.
“Does he know about the escape?”
“He does.”
“And you LEFT HIM TO HIMSELF?! He thinks his parents are gonna die now!”
From inside the door, Viktor saw Alex’s face scrunch up as he covered his eyes with his hands.
“And-“
“Penny!” Viktor interrupted sharply, “you’re upsetting him.”
You followed the tilt of his head towards the door.
“Shit,” you muttered, putting your fist under your nose.
“You two can continue without me,” Viktor said, reaching for the handle, “I will keep him company.”
Viktor agreed that he shouldn’t have been left alone, even if he didn’t want to be the one to remedy that. But, you and Jayce were needed out there to deal with the Enforcers, and Viktor considered himself partially qualified to talk to the kid. He had his own share of bad days growing up and knew that, most of the time, all kids needed was someone who’d listen.
He left no room for argument, even from the detective, as he delicately entered the room and shut the door. Eventually, he heard footsteps leaving the hallway.
It felt like he was in a broom closet. The beige walls were completely empty and a single pallid lightbulb hung from the ceiling. The metal chairs against the back wall were banged up but the table in the center had no signs of use. From the outside, the door looked similar to the other offices, so this must’ve been the one room that no one wanted. Perfect for Alex, and perfect for himself, he thought gloomily
“What happened to your leg?” Alex said bluntly. Viktor wasn’t sure if the tightness in his voice was anger or sadness, but either way it warned him to be careful.
“Nothing,” Viktor took a seat next the boy, “it’s always been like that.”
“Oh,” Alex sniffled, “my sister doesn’t have an arm.”
“Why’s that?”
“It got infected with gangrene and they had to cut it off. She has a hook for a hand now.”
“I’m sorry she had gangrene.”
“It’s okay. She likes the hook.”
Viktor nodded, tactfully looking away from the kid so he didn’t feel too much pressure to respond.
“What is her name?”
“Layla.”
“Older or younger?”
“Older. She’s 12.”
“I see,” Viktor paused, “do you miss her?”
“Fuck do you think?” Alex growled, lifting his legs onto his seat so he could hug them to his chest.
“Right. Apologies. Dumb question.”
Viktor was always envious of people who could hug their knees to their chest; his leg would give him too much trouble for it, but it looked like such a safe position. Back out like a turtle’s shell and heart safe between the warmth of your upper thighs. It was the closest that you could get to giving yourself a hug.
“What if I never see her again?” Alex said, curling into a ball and drowning out the rest of the world in womblike darkness.
Viktor wanted to tell him that he would see her again, but that would likely come back to bite him in the ass. This kid deserved better than promises that couldn’t be kept.
“What if she gets killed because they found out I snitched. What if she dies and it’s my fault?”
“Hey now, look at me, “ he tapped Alex’s knees with the handle of his cane, “please.”
“Fuck off!” his scream was muffled as he pressed his nose against his skin. His chest heaved.
“At least come up for air before you suffocate,” Viktor scolded gently, pulling a white handkerchief from his vest pocket.
After a few minutes of distressed sobs, Alex surfaced. His cheeks were wet, his nose was snotty, and it was all getting worse as he coughed through his tears. He grabbed the handkerchief and blew into it haughtily, giving Viktor side eye the whole time.
When Alex shoved the handkerchief back in Viktor’s direction, Viktor discretely curled his fingers around the smaller hand and looked kindly into his half-submerged eyes.
“None of this is your fault,” Viktor said, holding his attention, “How could you have known that things would turn out this way? You were trying to make the best decision – your family would understand.”
“No,” Alex shook his head and wiped free tear from his face, “they’d be so mad at me.”
“Perhaps, but all families get mad at each other sometimes. It doesn’t mean that they don’t love you. And it doesn’t mean that this is your fault.”
He gradually strengthened his grip, giving Alex enough time to tell him to stop or pull away if he wanted to, though he didn’t.
“Please, do not blame yourself for things that you cannot control.”
Viktor left to get him some water and permit him a minute alone.
Viktor was okay when he was in the same, but his own thoughts ran wild the minute the kid was out of sight. As he held his finger on the water cooler and waited for the cup to fill, he thought of his own childhood.
If Viktor were in Alex’s shoes, at a mere 10 years old, he would’ve been inconsolable. The first situation where he was in control, he had chosen to do the right thing and it backfired horribly. Viktor feared what could happen if he was not there to correct Alex’s first impression of choice. He wanted, no, he had to make the kid understand that it was too early to give up on hope.
When he returned with the water, Alex gulped it down like he had just hiked through a desert. It dribbled from his chin.
“You’re going to try and help my family, right?” Alex asked as he gasped for air.
“Of course,” Viktor said, “we were working on taking down this gang before you even got here.”
“Why? What’d they do to you?”
“They are misusing our technology. Those portals, for example, were designed by us, and we do not intend to let them stay in the hands of greedy pirates.”
“They steal from everyone,” Alex shrugged.
“If everyone did something about it, then perhaps they wouldn’t.”
“If they didn’t control who gets food, then maybe everyone would do something about it.”
“Fair point,” Viktor relented, “but do not underestimate the power of people working together. Especially if they are coming from the same place.”
“Oh yeah, like you and that angry girl,” Alex smiled, pleased with his own connection.
“Wh- you mean Penny?” Viktor chuckled, “She is rather angry, isn’t she? Though… I’m not sure if you want to follow her example.”
“Oh? And what example is that?” you said from the doorway.
Fuck.
“Because if you have a problem with poor people from Bilgewater who worked with pirates against their will, and are also super badass,” you added with a carefree wink to Alex, “then I think you’re in the wrong company.”
“I have no problem with such people, I was merely referring to your lack of ethics and refusal to take a stand for anything,” Viktor said defensively.
You rolled your eyes.
“Yeah, yeah, when are you not? C’mon, Jayce is waiting,” you waved him out the door and turned to Alex, “There’s a social worker here to meet you. She’s in the lobby. She’ll be with you soon.”
“Okay.”
“Chin up, Alex,” Viktor said from the hallway, leaning on his cane fondly.
“Yeah, stay safe kid,” you added, shutting the door.
You aggressively shoved your hands in your pockets and started down the hall, scoffing.
“First of all, the wave inverter worked and it kicked the fleet’s ass, so I’m going home. Thought you should know,” you refused to look at him, “Second, I’ll have you know that ‘my example’ is the reason why that kid’s still alive. The leading theory is that one of the Enforcers helped the gang members get out – Jayce and I agree here. The gang is paying some off. So, if I didn’t ‘take a stand’ for this kid to not get involved with Enforcers, then something would’ve happened to him during the breakout.”
You both rounded the corner.
“But you’re leaving?” Viktor said, unimpressed.
“Yes. As per the agreement that you already know about.”
“I’m aware. But you realize that this makes you look worse, right?” Viktor saw your brown crinkle in confusion, and continued, “You just said that you have essential knowledge to this child’s safety, and now you’re leaving him? When you’re the reason he’s in this mess in the first place?”
“I am not the reason that-“
“I didn’t say it was a bad thing. It is good that you intervened when you did. But now you refuse to finish what you started, and you are abandoning him even when you know that he needs you. It’s not ‘taking a stand’ if you’re only doing it when it’s convenient.”
“Ugh, I am not going to argue with again,” you said through gritted teeth, “I don’t fucking care about this kid!”
Your words rumbled through the valley of desks, and the office scene behind you froze. The Enforcers stared like sardines in a tin, dead-eyed and orderly, at your brazen revelation. When you noticed Viktor awkwardly shrinking underneath their scrutiny, you spun on your heel and stared right back at them.
“Don’t you guys have work to do?” you hissed.
They got the hint, and the menial business prattling resumed like nothing had happened. You brushed past Viktor into the lobby, aiming straight for officer.
Jayce wrapped an arm around Viktor’s shoulder and began speaking conspiratorially, but Viktor was hardly listening. He watched your lips move as you made idle conversation with Officer Brent (yes, he’d learned her name from all the times he heard you say it).
You were already separating yourself from them, preparing for the journey back to Bilgewater. He thought that this day would never come, and now that the moment was upon him he felt nothing. He was certain it wasn’t denial, as he was well acquainted with the anxious cocktail of self-delusion – it still felt like something. But Viktor’s mind was running off of empty, frustrated fumes that didn’t feel like anything.
They walked back to the lab, Jayce rambling the whole time about police procedure. When they entered, Viktor’s eyes immediately went to your section of the shelf. Your knife, which you had modified yourself over the last few days, was gone. You’d even cleaned up the tools you used this morning. Every sign that you ever existed was gone, like the universe was gaslighting him.
A breeze shivered down his spine. The window was open. You’d forgotten to shut it when you came back in from watching the ships.
Jayce drifted into the office while Viktor reached out, feeling the cold wind on his cheek reduce to an icy whisper as he locked the handle.
Gods, what was he even referring to when he mentioned “your example?” The insults were automatic, but negative thoughts about you weren’t. Not anymore. When someone mentioned you, he was forced to replay that godsdamned awestruck smile that you gave him after you’d both done the impossible. It started as a disbelieving laugh, and then you couldn’t stop that little wrinkle in your eyes as your cheeks filled with childish giddiness.
That smile, his brain decided, was the symbol of what you two could accomplish when you weren’t at each other’s throats.
“What’s on your mind?” Jayce said from behind him, finally noticing how spaced out his partner was.
“Penny is leaving,” Viktor said, “she made herself important and now she is leaving. It is rude.”
“Isn’t that what I said 4 days ago before you made her cry?”
As if Viktor didn’t think about that enough.
“No. You said something along the lines of it being a waste of potential for her to return to Bilgewater,” Viktor turned around, “what I am saying is that it will be impossible to see anything through without her here.”
“You mean like… her research or the case or…”
“Everything!” Viktor huffed, “I cannot understand it. Why would she want to leave? We are practically begging her to stay, things are better for her here, and she just… goes.”
“Did you want her to leave?” Jayce leaned against the table.
“I did, but… that was a result of my original mischaracterization of her.”
“Oh brother.”
“Don’t give me that. You know how protective I am of our work. And when someone so similar to us came along, believing all the things that we did, in the same field, but doing something so awful, it… it made me uncomfortable. Because what if we did that?”
“We wouldn’t.”
“I do not think it is that black and white. But anyway, this is irrelevant,” Viktor said, “The point is that, at the time, I had to convince myself that she was a vile person for my own peace of mind. But I was wrong. She’s not, eh, malicious, she’s just apathetic. Which is still bad, maybe worse, but I can work with apathy.”
“So…” Jayce drawled out the syllable, “you do want her to stay?”
“Of course I fucking want her to stay! Gods, have you seen the stuff she has given us in her time here?”
“I work here too-“
“Did you see what we did with the wave inverter?”
“I did, and-“
“And let’s not even talk about how quickly this pirate investigation is going to fall apart when she’s not here, and how dangerous it would be for the-“
“Viktor!” Jayce put his hands on his partner’s shoulders, trying to ground him, “Look, I’d rather she stay here too, but… she’s not satisfied with living here. And for someone like her, no amount of moralizing could change that.”
“Then we will make the living better! We will get the Academy to pay her, get the Enforcers to leave her alone, whatever, just-“ he removed Jayce’s hands, “Jayce, I want to keep having this kind of success. How could we claim that we are about improving lives if we are unwilling to make a few small changes to keep someone so valuable here?”
“Well, if you’re that committed,” Jayce exhaled, “then I’m in. But there’s probably one more thing you’re gonna have to change.”
*****
“1 collapsible socket wrench.”
You’d bought that thing when you’d first set out on your own, as a little gift to yourself. It was rusty then, but now, the brown completely swallowed the tool, erasing its original silvery gray color. You slid it across the table into your pile.
“8 sockets for aforementioned socket wrench.”
The Enforcer slowly counted them off to you as he returned them, and you were tempted to just tell him to keep the rest. You were going to get new tools when you went back anyway. Being in Piltover was a much-needed reminder just how far a good set of tools could get you.
“34 gold doubloons.”
And… you zoned out.
This wasn’t as fun as you thought it would be. You didn’t really believe in valuables – like currency, everything you owned was just passing through, and one day it wouldn’t belong to you anymore. You still wanted your stuff back, but you’d imagined that when you retrieved it that missing part of yourself would come back, and suddenly you’d be pumped to return to Bilgewater and start the rest of your life.
But no, your mind was stranded in some never-ending liminal state as this Enforcer counted your gold doubloons as slow as humanly possible.
“1 scarf, red.”
Finally, something worth keeping. You squished it in your hand – its silk was still soft after all these years, and its pattern of rolling clouds was just as enchanting.
You’d bartered for it with an Ionian trader, saying that you could fix the heating system on her boat to save her the cost of having to replace it. You were going to take money as your payment, but her display of handmade scarves caught your eye instead.
You’d used it to keep your hair in place ever since, only to be separated when the Enforcers ripped it from your hair as “evidence.” As if they didn’t already have enough stuff.
Did they take anything from Alex as evidence? He didn’t have the rucksack of essentials you remembered him bringing to the Town Hall. Were they going to bring it to the new housing for him? Had they confiscated it? Were they allowed to confiscate it? Could you sue?
“1, uh… flask?”
“Close enough.”
It was a wallet that you had made by slicing a metal flask in half and attaching it to cured leather. You carved grooves in the metal to attach fasters – you could snap it open and shut by putting the nail of your finger under one of them, sliding it along, and pressing the latch. The best anti-theft technique was, as always, beating the shit out of anyone who tried, but a little extra protection never hurt.
Could you find Alex’s parents back in Bilgewater? As if that would do anything besides put you in more danger. Piltover was supposedly contacting them anyway, and mail was faster than you, so it wouldn’t be necessary. No, you were done here.
“3 fishhooks.”
Sometimes, when you were really hungry, you would try your luck at the farthest end of White Wharf, where no gang had laid claim to the anchovies living there. You were not a cook, but you could make those little fish taste decent with just heat and whatever seasoning you had on hand, which was a skill all its own.
You didn’t have the excuse of hunger anymore, you realized. Here, you were well-fed, had a place to sleep, and medical care if you needed it. Your life was paid for by the state, and you got more freedom than any other criminal. Most people in Bilgewater would kill for that.
“1 roll of fishing line.”
You should be doing things with this. Months from now, when you would inevitably be assaulted with guilt from leaving Alex, disappointment from leaving your promise to the Undercity, and pure anger at yourself for leaving a chance to dismantle at a gang, you couldn’t tell yourself that you were “just trying to survive.” Because you were surviving just fine, but nothing about your ambitions had changed.
This whole Piltover excursion ended up being worth your time in the end, and you were leaving it for what? You were endangering Alex for what? Your own petty wants?
You thought about Iron Leg. Bastard that he was, he put everything on the line when he attacked Piltover, whether it was because he hated the city, wanted more money than he could ever use, or, as you’d begun to suspect, it had something to do with his daughter. One of the worst people that you could think of was doing a better job than you.
“1 piece of chalk.”
When you had nothing behind you, no past and no people, you actually did stand for nothing. But now, you had one foot in the future of so many people and a support system at your back. That was something, and whether you took it or leaving, you couldn’t say that anything you did meant nothing anymore.
You already knew that, but you thought that leaving everything behind for the allure of not having to think about yourself would, at most, maybe hurt you. You’d been too preoccupied with your own bullshit to think about anyone else.
“1 pocket knife.”
Your old knife was so lame. The one that you got from Iron Leg’s ship hung at your waist now. You’d attached hinges to it so it would open and close into a metal sheath, and you’d hidden the end of a screwdriver in the handle.
Gods, the one thing you were taking back from Piltover was still cooler than anything you’d owned before.
“1 canvas messenger bag,” the Enforcer dropped it with a sigh, “and that’s it.”
Spreading your arm across the table, you carelessly shoved everything into the bag with one fell swoop and swung it over your shoulder like it was any other day in Rat Town.
“Oh, wait, is this, uh… hat yours?”
“Yes,” you lied.
You figured Iron Leg owed it to you for bringing you to Piltover. You needed to think.
*****
Viktor stalked you from the cobblestone path, too fascinated with what you were doing to find it in himself to speak. You were on the edge of a lonely fishing dock near the end of one Piltover’s rivers, just before it flowed out to sea, occupied with some rope, a pirate hat, and an empty booze bottle. Your legs hung over the side above the water, and your feet were bare, despite it being the early days of Piltover’s winter.
“What are you doing?” he asked, revealing himself.
You lifted your head over your shoulder like a wild deer, before realizing that it was only him.
“Could ask you the same thing,” you said coolly, returning to your work.
“That didn’t answer the question,” the taps of Viktor’s cane echoed in the gap between the wood and the water as he approached, “though if you mean to ask how I found you, Heimerdinger directed me to the library, and you librarian informed me that you asked for directions to this very place after looking at Piltover’s map.”
“Why were you talking to Heimerdinger about me?” your voice was more serrated.
“In due time.”
You swayed the bottle in your hands to test its weight, listening for some elaboration that Viktor didn’t give you. You grunted.
“What I am doing,” you reluctantly broke the silence, “is a bastardization of a long-held custom in Bilgewater. There’s not a lot of land there, so we don’t bury our dead, we sink them. The bodies go to the ocean floor and we leave a buoy floating above as a grave marker. Usually, the families have to make the buoy, so those can get pretty interesting.”
“And you are having a funeral for… the bottle?” Viktor struggled to sit on the other side of the dock, hanging his legs over the side as you did.
“No,” you said, “I just don’t have a body. It’s for Iron Leg.”
He stared dumbly when you pointed the bottle at him, only to realize that it was an offer. He accepted, and jiggled its contents – the wedding ring, the sketch, some neatly rolled up pages of his journals, and a single gold doubloon.
Viktor frowned.
“Oh, don’t worry, I copied the sketch and the journal pages. Hell, they look better now without the blood and the water damage.”
“That’s not my concern,” he returned the bottle to you, “you are aware that… he was an asshole, yes?”
“Trust me, I know,” you chuckled mirthlessly, and Viktor cursed himself because of course you knew, you had fucking lived it, “But, I dunno, ever since I found out about his kid… I can’t help but think that all of this bullshit was because he was trying to, I dunno, help her or something. Don’t give me that look, you’re thinking it too.”
“Once again, not my concern. That doesn’t excuse anything he did.”
“I didn’t say it was an excuse, but he… the drawing, the attack, his death… he really loved her. And he never got to see her again,” you exhaled, wrapping the rope around the bottle, “I suppose it’s more of a memorial to what he could’ve been than what he was.”
You threaded the remaining rope through the pirate hat, plumed with a gaudy red and gold feather, pulling it tight so the hat would float to the surface while still attached to the bottle.
“When does your ship leave?” Viktor asked after a while.
“Tomorrow,” you said, pulling your legs up to the dock and resting the hat and bottle in your lap, “but if you or Jayce needed something, I might have time.”
“I don’t need anything – I just wanted to talk,” Viktor swallowed his pride; he could do this, he had to do this, “about your leaving Piltover.”
“Oh my gods, I get it, I’m a selfish cunt! Did you really come all the way here to say that again?” you huffed.
“No, I did not, though I will not disagree with your assessment.”
“Y’know, I’m not in the talking mood all of a sudden.”
“Please, just,” Viktor inhaled, summoning the last bit of patience he had left to stop himself from insulting you again, “I am not here to criticize you. I am here to extend an offer. Just… hear me out, and once I am finished, you will never have to hear from me again if you do not wish it.”
“That’s bold,” you said, leaning back on your hands, “I accept.”
Well done, Viktor, he thought to himself, now just don’t fuck it up.
“Jayce and I recognize that, eh, while you have been living better than prisoners, your working conditions have not been adequate. Should you stay, the Enforcers have agreed to put you on a probationary status. Provided that you maintain that, the Academy has agreed to pay you a stipend and grant you access to all campus facilities.”
Your jaw dropped.
“A stipend, that’s…”
“Money. Paid biweekly. To cover living expenses.”
“Right,” you nodded, still reeling from the offer, “continue.”
“You’d be given leeway to work on your own projects and effectively treated as an employee of Hextech, again provided that you maintain your probation. I don’t think I need to tell you that this is a very good offer.”
“You don’t,” you said, your tone accusatory as you regained your sense, “but I wasn’t born yesterday. What do you and Jayce get from all this, huh? Where is Jayce, anyway?”
“Jayce is at the lab, because I figured… that if you would not accept it from anyone else, then you would accept it from me.”
“I hate you.”
“Likewise. But…” he put one hand on the dock and leaned in a little bit closer to you, “even I can see that you returning to Bilgewater is a waste of potential, for both of us. Your intelligence and ideas are immensely beneficial to Hextech. Technologically speaking, what we’ve achieved is nothing short of revolutionary. The potential gang apprehension is a bonus. But Jayce and I cannot do this without you.”
You turned towards the river. Even though it flowed out to the sea, it was still narrow enough at this point that you could see the other side, carpeted with crunchy leaves and dying greenery. Viktor tried to be neutral when he spoke, but he would not undersell the importance of this, even if it had a chance to scare you off. He had one final thing up his sleeve.
“And, because of this…” he sighed, “I would like to address something else. The night that you met Alex… I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t mean what I said, but I was… unnecessarily cruel about it. We have been antagonizing each other since you got here, and it is partially my fault. So, for this… I apologize.”
You considered him, brows furrowed, the same way that you always did when trying to figure out if he was genuine. Viktor fought the urge to put on his impatient customer face for your sake. You both stayed like that for a long time.
“It’s okay,” you said finally, returning to the river and plopping your dejectedly plopping your chin in your hand, “I guess it is also partially my fault. And I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t mean what I said either, but, for what it’s worth, I’m, uh, sorry about the death wish and everything.”
You were easy to read, in regard to vulnerability, because it threatened you. You turned away, and that was how he knew that you meant it.
“It’s forgiven,” he said, turning towards the river as well, “and… in the interest of cooperation, the final addition to my offer is, eh, a truce, if you will. Between you and I.”
“You think we can play nice?”
“The bar is quite low.”
“Yeah,” your shoulders relaxed, “what… what happens if I say no?”
“Nothing, aside from the disappointment,” Viktor admitted, looking at you from the side, “but I urge you to consider this carefully. Besides ethical labor, there is a reason why Jayce and I have added these extra measures. You no longer need to worry about survival, your criminal record, or even our silly personal problems. We want you to focus on what you can do, and nothing else.”
You looked down at your lap, nervously twirling the rope with your fingers.
“You can always go back to Bilgewater,” Viktor continued, “but there are things happening here and now that you are a part of, and they will not wait. You have nothing to lose, so it comes down to who you want to be.”
He knew who you wanted to be, even if you didn’t. You liked to pretend that you didn’t have any wansts, but the determination that you had when you spoke about your inventions or why Piltover’s elite was ‘full of shit’ or what you could do to help Zaun was hard to fake. Even if you stopped before anything got too righteous for your comfort, you still wanted it.
He remembered your smile again, wondering if you were even aware of how much joy that invention brought you.
“It… is worth a try,” you conceded with a sigh.
Viktor exhaled with relief.
“That is good to hear.”
“Yeah,” you said, crestfallen but resolute, “guess I should go cancel my voyage.”
You pushed yourself to your feet and walked to the other side of the dock, standing above Viktor but not acknowledging him. You put the bottle in your dominant hand and swung it around a few times before pitching it into the ocean. The bottle bobbed along the surface for a moment before sinking.
The hat was dragged along with the waves, but by the time it was properly out to sea, you and Viktor were long gone from the docks.

Not me checking your blog twice a day to see if you’ve updated…
Anyways, here is a prompt that you are by no means obligated to fulfill:
A/B/O Zoro and Law, with Law taking Zoro on as his swordsman despite his being an omega. He’s unsure about having an omega in his crew, until their first fight with him. (Zoro beating people up awakens something in him) (Feel free to add in Mihawk)
Or honestly anything with A/B/O I just like it as a plot point.
Who Has Three Swords And Doesn't Give A Fuck What You Think?
Part One
All three of the katanas are cheap, modern creations, likely made by a group of apprentices, one working for one of those mass production operations. The kind of Marines use (looking closer, Law is sure that at least one of them is marine made). They're saya are plain and scratched up despite being cared for, and the tsuka are simple wood - no decorations are markings. They were obviously mass produced, swords met to arm men without real skill, or to be picked up by someone with no other choice in weaponry.
Yet when Law reaches for the handle, he finds his wrist immediately being held in a tight grasp.
He meets the narrowed, sharp eyes of the little omega with a smirk, showing off his teeth, and his amusement that the boy would be so bold. "Is there a problem, omega-ya?"
"Don't call me that," the boy snarls, tossing Law's arm away with some force, though not enough to bother Law. "And don't touch my swords."
Law chuckles, amused by the spirit of the boy, despite having only just been pulled out of the freezing cold north sea a couple of hours earlier. He sure had a lot of fire, for someone still wrapped nice in tight and shivering beneath Law's fur blanket. "So rude to your host, omega-ya, and all over a sword. It's not like you can make use of all three."
The boy snarls at him, open and unafraid, the steel of his eyes like twin blades wishing to sink into Law's chest, but they only leaving the older alpha pirate grinning over the small, drowned creature's mettle. Such a fierce little thing, he doesn't seem to comprehend how lucky he is to have been fished out of the icy seas by an alpha who finds him more amusing then desirable. By all rights, he should be dead, food for the fish or a frozen corpse floating into of the wreckage he insisted was his boat. There are no other ships around, and even if he had held on long enough for another to come along, in these waters he would have been nothing more than an easy catch for slavers, Marines, and pirates, none of whom were likely see him as anything more than a lost little thing they could sell or use or who they would make sure "repaid their kindness" the way only an omega could.
Well, once they cleam him up, got some of the grime and dirt off him, maybe got some food in him depending on how nice they were feeling. And how they liked their boys. Oh, and beat some basic respect and fear into him, of course. You couldn't have such a young alpha glaring at anyone that way.
The fact that he didn't care that this is Law's ship, the alpha that had brought him on board just made it all the better.
"I told you," the boy sneers, or at least he gives it a damn good try. The way his teeth keep chattering rather undermines his attempts to look so tough. That and the way he's snuggled up under the blanket, sitting on top of the medical cot Law had teleported him on. He looks like nothing more than a patch of green grass a top a small little lump of furry snow. Plus, of course, those steely eyes. "They're all mine. It's how I fight."
Right, he had said as much, right before passing out when Law had first brought him aboard. Law might have thought he was dead, he could barely even smell him, but the moment he reached over the boy's hand had shot out, just like now. "Leave them, they're mine." That's all the boy managed before passing out again.
Helped along by Law's ability. Well, he wasn't about to waste time arguing with some kid when he was trying to save his life.
Now he's awake, and he seems to inherently know Law was to blame for his earlier state. Law hadn't laid a wrong hand on him, only scanned the boy for injuries, then had his crew help clean him off and get him into some clean, dry clothes (a boiler suit about two times to big for him). Bepo had brought him the blanket, along with some soup the boy had drank with worrying speed. He been fine enough accepting the gifts from the mink, but the second Law approached he could see the kid's guard go right back up.
Not that Law could blame him. The only kind of omega likely to be trusting giving the boy's circumstances would be a dead omega.
"Keep your takemitsu," Law teases, smirking again at the insulted looks that crossed the boy's face. "We're two days from land, should be enough time to figure out which one you plan to trade for food."
Law strolls our of the room, smile still tugging at his lips as he listens to the boy protesting that he uses all three swords, damnit, he's a kenshi. What a strange little omega. Shame Law can't imagine him lasting a week off the boat.
But it's a big ocean, you never know. Maybe some poor alpha will find themselves hopelessly in love with the wild, rude little thing, strange as he is. In two days, he won't be Law's problem to worry over.

youreyeslookliketheocean’s DSMP Fic Recs!!
Figured it was about time for one of these... :)
Mostly SBI-centric because they’re my favorite dynamic. I’ll probably add to this list as time goes on, and I also want to go back through my ao3 history and find some lesser-known fics I really enjoyed to rec them all. But for now...
* oneshot  ** unfinished work
** the lights go out (my heart goes still) by curseworm
With his old home unwelcoming and his new one gone, Tommy is alone. After hours of staggering through the freezing snow, he finds a cabin.
Technoblade’s cabin.
He hides himself away in the deepest corner he can find, taking only what he needs to survive, wasting away in the cold and the dark. He’s petrified at the thought of being found out, terrified of what he thinks Techno would do to him.
When Techno finds his injured teenage brother huddled in a filthy little cave beneath his basement, the rage he feels is immeasurable. The voices demand blood, and blood he will give them. Dream won’t be getting away with this one.
(On the other side of the world, in a country that floats on a man-made lake, Philza gets himself in a bit of a pickle.)
** The hearth down under by Crystalquill
A tiny change gives Tommy the courage to flee to the Nether instead of the cold tundra, finding an unlikely ally in the midst of a fiery hellscape.
But tiny changes can alter the course of history. The SMP will never be the same.
(Lots of cool Nether worldbuilding in this one!!)

Tommy's feet drag in the snow.
It's so, so cold. He's so cold. His toes are freezing. His exposed shins feel like they’ve been cut open-- even the one that’s bandaged. His wings have gone numb, which is almost, almost good, because now he can’t feel the shifting, broken bones inside of the left one, just under feathers and muscle.
He doesn’t know why he’s still walking.
-
Or, Tommy leaves the exploded ruins of Logstedshire behind, and walks until he finds somewhere safe.
And things keep going from there.
(A canon-divergent AU, splitting off somewhere around when Tommy started hiding out below Techno's house.)

Dream would kill him. Dream was going to kill him- he was going to- no, he wouldn’t. Dream was his friend- friends don’t hit each other- Dream was supposed to take care of him- Dream /was/ taking care of him.
It hurt to breathe. It hurt to think. He couldn’t clear his thoughts as he stumbled to the family computer, pulling up a tab on google and frantically typing the name into the search bar.
The words Technoblade Watson stared back at him, the little black bar at the end of the letters blinking slowly, mocking him.
Why, of all people, did it have to be Technoblade?
in short: the one where dream sucks as a parental figure, tommy runs away, and visits his least favorite family member technoblade.
passerine by thcscus(blujamas)
Do I really need to put the summary here? Pretty much everyone knows this fic. Also, though, if you enjoy this one you should totally read thcscus’ connected fic, “shrike”!! It’s only at 2 chapters right now but it’s already really good and has this dark, foresty aesthetic I love...

He knows Tubbo doesn’t care about him anymore. He knows that. He’s been shown that. But it doesn’t stop Tommy from caring about him. He brushes the pads of his fingers over the compass’s glass and wonders how he’s doing, if he’s tired of it all yet, if he needs help. He watches the way it points strongly in the direction over the ocean. He hopes he’s alright.
Even after everything, he hopes he’s alright.
During his exile, Tommy finds a drugged and hurt Tubbo on his doorstep. He can’t not help him.
(This one has a neat take on potions, in my opinion. Also it’s only 4 chapters so it’s a quick read!)

Tommy's a fuck up, he can't pay attention, and never sits still. He taps his hands, pushes people away, and has never had a best friend. He's a screwed up, forgotten kid lost in the foster system. He's also just been placed with a new family. Tommy knows how this goes, he never ends up staying long. After all, no one wants a fuck up like him.
Why would this house be any different?
Or: the obligatory sleepy bois foster fic, but with a focus on the neurodivergent kids that inevitably get lost in the system.
(Genuinely want to see more books like this in original fiction. It’s part of what inspired my newest og wip, “To Build a Home.” So sweet and I feel like I had my eyes opened to some neurodivergent tendencies I never knew existed. I read this in a day and can’t rec it enough.)
bloodlines by youreyeslookliketheocean
Tommy’s an orphan on the run from his previous guardian. Philza’s a king who prides himself on keeping his kingdom in an era of peace. Wilbur’s the crown prince, and Techno’s right beside him as his adopted brother. When Phil’s kingdom of Pogtopia is threatened by the bloodvines—a strange, brainwashing plant infecting many of the surrounding kingdoms—the four must work together to keep the kingdom, and their family, safe. --- A royal au sbi fic... + the bloodvines, for spice.
(Yes I’m self-promoting. But, in my defense, I’m very proud of it. If you checked it out it would mean the world to me :’))
Heat Waves by tbhyourelame
Dream has always held a gentle admiration for George, but when their nuanced friendship trickles into his sleeping mind, he awakens to a new world of conflicting emotions and longing. Lost in the midst of a heat wave, he continuously listens to a song that works itself in to the very core of his heartache. Floridian nights, unsent messages, spiraling infatuation, and terrible, terrible weather.
Another fic I think pretty much everyone knows about. Listen, listen... I was once an idiot who said “Oh no, I’ll never read Heat Waves. It’s irl, not characters, and it’s probably cringe”... No. I was so wrong. This fic is wonderfully written, with a pretty quick moving plot and great characterizations. You do need an ao3 account to access it, though. Just to let you know. (Also read “Helium”, unfinished and hasn’t updated in awhile, but it’s the continuation).
Guitar Strings and Keyrings are What it Takes to Build a Home by Anonymous
Techno was adopted by Phil when he was 12 years old.
He'd been enjoying his morning before Phil came to him asking if he would mind them taking in another kid. Against his better judgement, Techno agrees and ends up with two new foster brothers who he was determined to not get attached to, no matter what.
Tommyinnit’s unbeatable method of avoiding sudden death by eneliii
“I uh,” Tommy starts, not knowing how to break this to the hero lightly. He hates to be the bearer of bad news. “I think your powers are broken? It’s not a bad thing of course, but like, I swear you tried to mind control me and it like, totally failed. Which is fine, honestly, don’t feel insecure. Everyone’s power stop working sometimes… I think.”
Sheesh, this is very awkward. Why is no one else talking? Why is Philza looking at him like he grew three heads? Why is the Blade staring at him so intensely? Why is Willow still frozen?
“Did I, did I hit a nerve? Yikes,” Tommy hisses, “Well um,” He steps back, bracing his legs and bending his knees, “This was like super fun, but I’m - I’mma head out.”
or,
in which Tommy manages to annoy the hell out of Phil, Techno and Wilbur by being both impossible to catch and irritatingly endearing.
or or,
a crack fic where Tommy is a vigilante and Phil, Techno and Wilbur are the heroes hunting him down.
(Feel like I am obligated to say how incredibly funny this fic is. Seriously. I have a distinct memory of sitting on my neighborhood park’s swing, giggling hysterically, while reading this. Well...until the end... but we won’t get into that...)
** bones in the ocean by bunflower
“Your reputation precedes you, y’know.”
“Does it, now?” Philza watches him coyly from where he’s now leaning against the wall, arms folded around his chains and gaze half-lidded, his lips curled in an arrogant, cat-like smirk.
“The Angel of Death, the ferryman of the Styx, the terror of the western seas. One of the most feared captains ever to sail, and yet, I have to wonder… how did a man like you end up all on his own? We searched the area where you were found—not another soul in sight. So,” He fixes him with a long look, allowing the silence to hover like a dark cloud, the words rolling off of his tongue with all the venom and smugness he can muster, “—tell me, Philza. Where is your crew?”
OR: Technoblade is a naval captain, and Phil his unwilling prisoner. Somehow, they manage to come out of it as friends in the end.
(Is this fic considered popular like passerine/Heat Waves now? Cause I feel like it’s reputation precedes itself, at this point... Pirate au.)
****
Okay! That’s it for now. Like I said, though, I want to add to this over time and also dig back for some older things I’ve read. Also, if you have any recs feel free to send them in! I’m about to go back to school and therefore might not have time for reading fun stuff, but whenever I get the chance I’d love to check them out!!!
Happy Reading!!

A3! Act 12 spoilers - Sakuya’s journey + past (chapters 11-41)
Wanted to share the parts about Sakuya travelling to his hometown, so major spoilers for chapters 11 to 41 (though I will mostly skip the other members’ individual chapters, which is why this spans so many chapters lol). Will also be including some CGs / screenshots. THE HARUGUMI FEELS!!!
Update: If you’ve read this before this update, I added another paragraph and screenshot at the bottom.
So, Izumi has all members leave the dorm because they get forced to shut down activities through the efforts of Amadate Keiju (Hyakka’s founder, a member of the Fleur awards board of directors as well as the person who inspired Sakuya to get into acting). The Spring troupe members extend invitations to Sakuya to stay with each of them (so sweet!! ;___;), but he declines because Kasumi has offered a place to him. Sakuya plans on sleeping over for one night before going on a journey to his roots.
Kasumi tells Sakuya he can stay with them forever (lol), but Sakuya has made up his mind, so Kasumi gives him stuff that will help him on his travels. Sakuya mentions that the other members were worried he might get homesick because this will be the first time for him since entering the troupe to be apart from the others for so long. But he wonders if there isn’t anything he could do to assure the others that he’s doing well. Kasumi suggests he send postcards to them, so Sakuya makes a call to the director (who’s staying alone in the dorms) and asks for everyone’s addresses.
Sakuya visits his aunt / relatives who paid for his school fees to thank them. Sakuya came to Tokyo after getting into Hanagaku, where he came to stay with the Yoshinagas. He wanted to do his best to be “acknowledged as a member of the family”, but his aunt made it clear that they only thought of him as a lodger. Sakuya felt lonely then, but he still thought that he had to express his thanks. Sakuya has been sending them money each month to pay them back for the expenses for the private school, but his aunt is doubtful that he earned it himself and calls it an inconvenience. She’s disappointed that Sakuya didn’t choose to attend a university after they spent so much money on his high school education.
We find out that Izumi offered to back him up if he wanted to go to university (even if just a little). Izumi feels glad to have attended university, where she learned a lot and met all kinds of people. But for Sakuya, that place is Mankai Company, so he was fine with not going to university. He told Izumi that he needed to save up money to pay back the Yoshinagas, which would also enable him to pursue acting more freely (it’s not just about being in their debt financially - Sakuya thinks that them making it possible for him to attend Hanagaku also made it possible for him to come to Tokyo, spend time with Masumi and Banri at school and visit Veludo Way, which is how he ended up joining Mankai. That’s what he’s thankful for).
Sakuya has chosen his way of life. His aunt tells him that he’s been paying them too much and returns the rest. The Yoshinagas only did the bare minimum, so there’s no need for him to feel so grateful. Sakuya hands her a flyer to their next performance and asks if he could send them tickets. His aunt has no interest in acting, but whether he wants to send them tickets is up to him.
Tumblr media
Sakuya travels to Hokkaido, where he used to live as a kid (he dreams of it twice before chapter 11) and sends each of the Mankai Company members picture postcards of the place where he used to take walks with his parents. While there, he also visits his old school, the one where the fire broke out and the actions of the theater members (the pirate/Amadate Keiju) inspired him to become an actor. In an earlier chapter, we found out that this was Amadate-san’s last tour as an actor. Sakuya meets Amadate Kabuto there (Hyakka’s top actor and Amadate-san’s adoptive son), who’s been trying to help Mankai Company take down his father.*
Sakuya finds out that Kabuto came to watch a recording of that pirate performance and is invited along. Sakuya thinks Kabuto came to watch the recording for sentimental reasons, but Kabuto explains that he wanted to confirm whether his father was responsible for the fire that broke out then (since he was also responsible for the one at the Mankai Theater). It caused Hyakka to become famous and be nominated for the Fleur Awards. Sakuya is shocked, but now, Kabuto is certain that the fire was an accident.
Sakuya heads to his old address where the old apartment building he used to live in still stands. Sakuya’s family used to live in apartment 101, but because 102 is the only apartment with a nameplate and he came all this way, Sakuya rings the doorbell there. It’s the landlord, who’s already lived there 15 years ago and remembers the Sakumas. He invites Sakuya in and tells him of Sakuya’s parents, how much they loved him and of the time when they explained the meaning behind Sakuya’s name.
Together with his last name, it becomes “sakura saku” - cherry blossoms bloom. Basically, Hokkaido is famous for having their cherry blossoms bloom last in Japan. When the long winters are over, they are a symbol of hope that spring has come through all over Japan. And like the cherry blossom, a special flower that everyone in this town is looking forward to blooming, they wanted Sakuya, even if he would be a late bloomer, to be able to bloom his dream in full bloom at the end. That was their dream.
Sakuya is overcome with emotion and while visiting the cape where he used to take walks with his parents, calls the director because he needs to talk to someone. He tells her that the landlord is letting him stay in the old apartment he used to live in and that the landlord also told him a lot about his parents. He tells her of finding out about his name and of finally, actually getting confirmation that he really used to live here, together with his parents. He tells her that he’s grateful to his parents for his name and that he is able to be an actor and meet people that he loves because of the name his parents gave him. He tells her that he didn’t think there would be anyone (left) who’d remember him or his parents and that he was lonely and upset that his parents left him behind. But all that is left is the gratitude he feels toward his parents. For him and his life, spring has come. Izumi, too, is thankful for having met Sakuya. She asks him to thank his parents for letting them (Mankai) meet Sakuya.
Tumblr media
At the same time, the other troupe members receive the postcards Sakuya sent them from his hometown. Chikage, realising Sakuya is homesick, calls for a family meeting (Citron was about to put in a call too, and Itaru was already checking his free days, but Chikage beat them to it lol). Together, the other 5 Harugumi members decide to fly to Hokkaido to pick up Sakuya. While in their rental car, they realise that they had no idea that Sakuya was from Hokkaido and that he doesn’t talk much about the time when he went from relative to relative. But he’ll always listen happily to stories about other people’s families - which actually makes it harder to talk about (for Itaru).
Tumblr media
They arrive at Sakuya’s old apartment but are met with the landlord instead. He tells them that Sakuya’s out for a walk and praises him for being a good kid. He’s glad that Sakuya has good friends. They tell him that they are Sakuya’s family.
They head to the cape, but don’t see him anywhere. An employee at a nearby store tells them that they just missed him. They enjoy the beautiful view and talk about how Sakuya used to walk here with his parents. The landlord has told them that Sakuya cried when it was decided that he would have to leave this place after his parents’ deaths. Tsuzuru can’t remember ever having seen Sakuya’s crying face; even when he was crying, all that remains in Chikage’s memories is Sakuya’s accompanying smile. But should Sakuya want to cry, Citron wants him to do it to his heart’s content. They call out to Sakuya’s parents:
Citron: Sakuya’s dad! Mom! Thank you for giving birth to Sakuya!  Tsuzuru: Your son is growing up splendidly! Itaru: Don’t worry about what comes next! (basically telling his parents that they will take care of him)  Masumi: He has a lot of family now. Chikage: Please come and see him anytime.
They finally meet up with Sakuya at his apartment building. Their visit comes as a surprise to Sakuya, who promptly proceeds to break out in tears when Masumi welcomes him home. Sakuya’s place to come home to is the place where the 5 of them are, says Citron. Sakuya cries happily when Chikage tells him that they came to pick him up.
Tumblr media
The Spring troupe members stay the night in the cramped apartment and while everyone’s sleeping, Sakuya talks to his parents (in his head), telling them that the people currently sleeping there are his precious family and that thanks to them, he was able to find the place where he belongs and that he no longer feels lonely. He is glad that he was able to introduce them to his parents.

HARUGUMIIIII!!! ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ I cried!! It was so sad and sweet! There might be more after that, but I haven’t continued reading yet.
*Spoilers for act 12 plot: Before everyone left the dorms, Kabuto made contact with Syu and Reni and insisted on handing incriminating information on his father to Izumi personally. Izumi invited him to their dress rehearsal (so Kabuto wouldn’t get suspected), but Amadate-san still found out about it and had Mankai Theater burned down, thus making it impossible for Kabuto to hand over the data. Consequently, Kabuto left Tokyo to go into hiding and headed to Hokkaido.  After he and Sakuya have watched the video, Kabuto hands over a USB with the incriminating information he has gathered and tells Sakuya to give it to Izumi and to not let anyone know that they met. After meeting up with the other Spring troupe members, Sakuya tells them about meeting Kabuto here and hands over the USB for Chikage to go through.

The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng
This is my take on my prompt The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
You know, I always wondered about Marinette taking care of Akumas while overseas. If she takes too long, she’ll scare her loved ones half to death. Can’t rush too much or else she risks losing her miraculous because of it. Since no one is aware of her identity, she doesn’t have anyone to cover for her.  Friends who are unaware of the truth will cover her for so long before they have to fess up.
In salt fics, the class usually doesn’t care where Marinette is on Gotham trips. Here, they give a shit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In which Lila messes with some signs and Marinette gets lost when she comes back late (via Kaalki) after dealing with an Akuma attack in France.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two week school field trip in Tokyo was supposed to be an enjoyable experience. There’s booked reservations at classy restaurants, a fancy hotel with a big pool, shows, and tours throughout Tokyo. Lila is most looking forward to the fashion expo. If she doesn’t do something soon, it looks like she’ll miss out on that too. Marinette been missing for two days and Lila is already sick of it.
All because she miscalculated in a spur of the moment plan.
“Marinetteeee! Where are you,” shouts a crying Alya. The girl spots a few tourists and shoves a flier in their faces. Nino joins in with his own fliers. “Have you seen my friend Marinette Dupain-Cheng? Cutest French girl you’ve ever seen with a heart of gold. So kind she’d innocently help a stranger, unaware they’re a bad guy.” The tourists each give a half hearted ‘no’ before speed walking away.
“Walk faster Lila! Marinette can be anywhere.”
Lila puts on a concerned mask. “Of course.”
All this time wasted just because she moved some signs.
She hadn’t meant for Marinette to go missing. Only to buy some time so she can guilt trip Adrien to be her partner for the fashion expo.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day before, the class went to a big nature park. It’s notable for its many trails. The deeper you went into the park, the denser the trees are. They all partnered up and to her dismay she got Nathaniel instead of Adrien. The best thing about the artist is that he gets so into drawing the sights he doesn’t notice when she wanders off. It gave her more time to plot how to switch partners with the least amount of fuss.
During one of her secret plotting sessions, she heard a very loud conversation farther down the trail she’s on. Rose shouts for Marinette to not split up, and Marinette screams back a blatant lie about wanting to see a moose in the Relaxation Trial. Also to not expect her for forty minutes. Total hypocrite this girl is. ‘We can only be friends if you stop lying.’ Sure, and it’s okay for only Marinette to lie. Everyone else who does so is bad. Can’t even tell Rose you honestly want to ditch her.
When Lila noticed the Relaxation Trail sign nearby, an idea formed in her head. She ducked into a bush to hide. When Marinette ran into the trail and her map fell out of her bag Lila burst into action.
It took a little adjustment to the multiple sign post. It wasn’t too hard as the signs on the pole were already a little loose. Just needed to switch the sign that led back to the meetup with the Reflection Trial sign. According to the map, the Reflection one is a winding trial leading to a dead end. Marinette would be forced to walk all the back as the park employees told them it’s easy to get lost if you go off the trial. Aside from putting some sticks on the map, it was left mostly alone as she wanted her rival to use it to get back to base. She may not have liked Marinette, but she didn’t want anything horrible to happen to her.
By the time it got dark, Marinette still hadn’t gotten back to the meetup point. Forty minutes had already flown by. Lila hadn’t noticed as she was trying to convince Adrien to switch partners and tell everyone it was his idea. If Marinette was here the noisy girl would have interfered.
Rose’s cry of alarm got the others to find out Marinette was missing. The goodie two shoes wasn’t answering Rose’s calls. A quick check near the Relaxation Trial sign revealed Marinette’s map had flown into a bush.
The field trip went downhill from there.
The police were called. Afterwards, it’s discovered the cameras in that area were down much to Lila’s relief. Even though she feels a bit responsible, she’s not admitting to anything. Even if she did confess, it’s not like it’ll help the police. Doing so will get her in huge trouble and gain scrutiny in her actions from then on. How will telling what she did help find Marinette? It’d be for nothing.
When it comes down to it, Lila’s self preservation is above Marinette’s well being.
Some good fun will keep her mind from unpleasant things. Too bad no one besides Lila is interested in the scheduled events. This is a vacation, so going to a few events is a must. The class just want to spend time searching for Marinette. The transfer student wouldn’t have minded hanging up missing posters or spreading the word. This class takes it to another level.
Every waking moment is spent looking for Marinette. Breaks become a treasured time. They walk many miles each day. Max posts missing posters in Japanese forums. Alya bothers the police for updates. Adrien even got Chole (who stayed in Paris) to pull some strings to get more attention in the local news.
Because of Marinette’s disappearance, they have to stay in groups of at least three. No exceptions. So if Lila wants to do anything, she needs to convince any group she’s in to go with her.
It’s more challenging than expected.
Day 5
"Hey guys, why don’t we take our break inside the museum we were supposed to go to? It has air conditioning and we can look at some stuff for a bit while we’re sitting down.”
“Sorry Lila, I’m not in the mood to admire art.”
“I agree with Nathaniel. Just doesn’t feel right.”
Day 8
“Let’s go on the sightseeing tour. We can look for Marinette while we’re on it.”
“No thanks.”
“Nah, a taxi is better as we can choose where to drive.”
Day 10
“.....my leg injury is acting up. It’s okay to leave me here. I don’t mind.”
“No way Lila. We’re not leaving you alone on a bench outside Universal Studios. What if we lose you too?”
“.............”
Day 11
Lila has had it with these people. Reservations and events have been canceled. Solemn, awkward moping. Refusal to do anything but looking for Marinette. The only event left is the one she’s been most looking forward to: the fashion expo. Through some maneuvering and sneakiness, no one remembered to cancel the expo tickets.
There’s no way in hell she wants to miss this event: a lecture by Edna Mode herself. There’s rumors circling the fashion industry the famous designer is going to explore a new clothing line. Along with finding a muse for it.
The previous class activities can be let go without much struggle. Not this one, though. This could be the golden ticket to a very prestigious job. Even more than being a Gabriel model.
There’s a chance things might go right this time. The group is filled by pushovers Adrien, Rose, and Juleka. As long as she stays firm, they’ll go along with her plan.
With the directions in mind, Lila manages to slyly maneuver the group to walk outside Tokyo Big Sight. The sight of the Edna Mode banners hanging outside the arena fills her with excitement.
Lila coughs for their attention. “Guys, it’s time for our lunch break. We need the energy to keep this up.”
Rose reluctantly says, “Oh you’re right Lila. Can you pass out our lunches please?”
“Sure thing.” She reaches into the bag and whoops. There’s conveniently no lunch bags in there. “Oh no guys, there’s only water bottles in here.”
“It’s okay Lila, we can buy some food nearby.” Rose digs out her phone. “Hmm... I think there’s a cheap fast food place nearby.”
“There’s no need to look far. We can just go into the expo. They have to have some food near the entrance.”
There’s silence at her words.
Juleka narrows her eyes. “Why do I feel you just want to go to the expo?”
Lila is surprised Juleka of all people is calling her out. “No, no. It’s just, why walk more when there’s food right here.”
“Lila, do you not care about finding Marinette?,” a sad Rose asks.
“How could you say that? Of course I do! We worked so hard and we deserve a break. Marinette would understand.”
Rose snaps. “Understand? Every minute counts! We might never see Marinette ever again. She could be injured and alone, kidnapped, or worse! If one of us was missing, she wouldn’t give up.”
The fire in Rose’s eyes startles Lila. Never thought she’d see the bubbly girl break her happy persona.
“No one said anything about giving up. Besides, the police are looking-”
“That doesn’t mean we should sit by and do nothing.” Rose tears up. “It’s my fault Marinette is gone. If I didn’t let her run off on her own, she would still be here.”
Juleka gives a comforting hug to Rose.
Adrien speaks up. “I know you don’t like Marinette, but I never thought you would sink so low. It’s one thing if you’re not interested in helping. It’s another to actively interfere in something our friends care about.”
“I d-d-o care. We can pick up search after we eat.” It’s not like Lila wanted to prevent them from searching for Marinette. Ms. Bustier has forbidden anyone from being on their own. So she needed someone to be with her in order to do something.
Lila spent so much time reassuring them, they missed the lecture.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“---Breaking News! A French teenager stopped a missile launch by terrorists. Marinette Dupain-Cheng went missing during her class’ field trip. Miraculously, she disabled their base of operations, rescued a Princess, fought against pirates, escaped on the back of a deer, got their leader to surrender to the authorities-”
“That’s our every day Ladybug.” Alya hugs the TV with tears of joy. “Obviously she’d save the day while missing.” The reporter actually hissed when a stranger tried to tell her to stop hogging the TV. No one attempted removing her after that.
Since Ms. Bustier is currently with the police to bring Marinette back, there’s no one to reign in the partying classmates. Alix somehow convinced the hotel to give them a big complementary celebration cake.
The only person not celebrating is an angry Lila. Glaring at her phone, the headlines riles her up every time she sees it.
Edna Mode’s First Baby Fashion Line
The Inspiration Behind the New Designs
“My godson is my inspiration-”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack-Jack is Edna’s muse. Lol.
To save you a google search, this park mentioned in this fic is made up. It’s based on a bunch nature parks I’ve been to before. Tokyo does have parks and nature trials, though. In case you missed it, an attack happened in the late afternoon and Marinette got back at night (when it got dark) in Japan Standard Time. Keep in mind there is a 8 hour difference between these countries.
With this completed, I can finish chapter two of Dupont’s Worst Nightmare. :)

A/N: I don’t even want to think about how long it’s been since the last update but I am here now with a longer chapter for you all so hopefully that will make up for it !! And perfect timing since Ateez just had a comeback (which is AMAZING AS ALWAYS)! Hopefully I can get the next chapter out sooner but I won’t make any promises rip.
Inwardly, you cursed again as you looked back at the shocked faces of your mother and father, a reunion you were very much trying to avoid.
Trying to keep your voice calm, you responded to them, “What are you doing here? Where’s (B/N)?”
“He’s back at the castle- Never mind him, (Y/N), we’ve been looking everywhere for you! What were you thinking, letting that dreaded pirate take you away like that? We didn’t know if you were alive or dead!” Your father was quick to turn attention back to the situation at hand.
“He was going to kill everyone on the ship if I didn’t go with him, I figured one life was better than however many were on the ship that day,” You answered back, keeping your composure. Internally, you were hoping that your parents wouldn’t notice who you were with- or what you were wearing, for that matter.
“Well, it’s very well good that Admiral Reeves found you,” Your mother sighed in what you could almost be fooled to be relief, “Months of searching finally paid off, especially since that Sweet who’d taken you up and disappeared on us, we should’ve known better than to trust any of those filthy pirates.”
“Sweet is dead,” You told them, trying to leave out as many details as possible, “That’s why he never showed back up.”
“How do you know that- and where is Admiral Reeves?” Your mother exclaimed, huffing slightly as she waited impatiently, “Honestly, he tells us he’d be here with our daughter and sure enough, she’s here, but he’s nowhere to be found! Maybe we should-!”
“Reeves is dead, too. The whole ship is currently sinking, probably already at the bottom of the ocean right now,” You cut her off, knowing this wasn’t going to lead anywhere good.
“What do you mean, he’s dead-?” Your father cut himself off once he noticed your appearance, “By, god, what happened to you?! You’re covered in blood!” Hongjoong’s jacket had opened up due to you having moved your arms, making the massive bloodstains apparent.
“My, god, (Y/N), are you alright?!” Your mother rushed to you, checking you for any apparent wounds, “How did you get so much blood on your clothes?! Are you hurt?”
“It’s not mine.”
“What?” Your mother looked at you, confused.
“The blood,” You spoke slowly, “It’s not mine. It’s Admiral Reeves’s.”
“Admiral Ree-,” Your mother still seemed lost until the meaning of your words finally seemed to sink in. She let go of you, backing away slowly, “(Y/N), you didn’t.” It wasn’t a question, but you could tell how much she was hoping for you to deny it.
Instead, you shook your head, “I did. I killed Admiral Aldrich Reeves, just an hour ago, in fact.”
“Don’t be silly, now, how could a girl like you possibly-,” Your father started to scoff at you, but stopped once he noticed the serious look on your face, “(Y/N), cease this preposterous joke this instant!”
“It’s not a joke, Father,” You looked at him with a neutral expression, “The precious princess of this kingdom has just committed murder. What do you intend to do about that?”
“(Y/N), what have you done?!” Your mother fumed, finally dropping the concerned parent act, “You’ve committed one of the gravest crimes you could ever commit, and to a respected admiral no less! How can we look our people on the eye with a murderer as their princess?! We have no choice but to disown you!”
“No choice? Please, you disowned me from the moment I was born, don’t act like you care now.” You laughed humorlessly, “And don’t make me laugh, looking your people in the eye. All you do is look down on them, ignoring their suffering and their disgusting acts so you can live comfortably up in the palace! Half of them don’t even know there is a princess because you kept me locked away for so long! Please, for once in your lives, stop acting more righteously than you are! I’ve been around pirates for the past six months, and they’ve all proven themselves to be better people than you!” It was at this point your parents realized who your company exactly was.
“…So, this is where you’ve been the entire time,” Your father spoke slowly, “You truly are the most disobedient child a parent could ever loathe to receive, hanging around the very people I taught you to be wary of.”
“I was wary of them, at least at first,” You stepped forward with a glare, rushing to defend your friends, “But then I realized that they weren’t the true monsters; they never were. The real monsters were the Royal Navy, kidnapping normal sailors and putting them through hell- did you know Reeves physically and psychologically tortured his crewmates? Did you know that some of them even died because of him? Innocent men who wanted nothing to do with anything lost their lives because of monsters like him who were the ones who truly deserved to die! Tell me, were you aware of this, father?”
Your father was silent before he answered, “You have to understand, (Y/N), sometimes the methods used by the navy aren’t the most… orthodox, but-!”
“But, what?! You curse pirates for kidnapping, stealing, and murdering, but here you are, defending it once it’s someone of your own naval force! You’re no better than the pirates you love to hate so much!” You fumed, finally letting the frustration that had built up with your parents over the years out. “You say you have no choice to disown me? That’s perfectly fine by me, I already found a new family anyway.” As if to prove your words, Hongjoong, Jongho, and Wooyoung stepped up behind you, all of them on edge in case your parents tried to pull anything.
“So, you’re just going to turn your back on us, on the kingdom, to go off and play pirate with our worst enemy?” Your father just scoffed at you, “Time and time again you’ve proven yourself to be a disappointment, but nothing ever came close to this.”
“Don’t talk about her that way,” Hongjoong stepped up, glowering at your father, “If that’s truly how you felt about your daughter, why even bother to look for her? If even I, your so called ‘worst enemy’, can see how amazing she is, how blind to your own children must you be?”
“Don’t bother, Hongjoong,” You shook your head, “It’s probably just as I thought; the only reason you went looking for me was for sympathy, wasn’t it? Wouldn’t look good if the princess was kidnapped and there wasn’t even an attempt to find her, would it? Should’ve just said I was dead and be done with it, make things a lot easier for the both of us.”
“(Y/N), if you go with them, it’ll be war,” Your father warned, “It’ll be the entire navy against a ragtag group of pirates, even if it is the Pirate King. There’s no way you could win, not in a million year.”
“Oh, and if I stay? What, would you throw me in jail or have me executed?” You challenged, “You’ve already said you have to disown me. Are you too proud to just let me go?”
“You killed an admiral, how are we supposed to just let you go?!” Your mother shrieked, “You’ll be a wanted criminal!”
“Better than a captive princess,” You retorted, gearing yourself to run at a moment’s notice, “If it means going to war, then so be it. We’ll be more than ready to face your army. I’m not afraid of you, either of you!”
“Enough of this, guards, capture them!” Your father ordered, the guards surrounding them making their move towards you, but luckily you realized the situation quickly and began to run back towards the ship, the others following suit as you made to get away.
“San, please tell me you’ve gotten everything you need,” Hongjoong demanded as soon as you were back on the ship, meeting up with the carpenter who’d only just made it there himself.
“Yeah, at least enough to be able to fix it while on sea- why?” San asked, but Hongjoong just shook his head.
“No time to explain, we have to go, now! Everyone, get ready, we’re leaving!” Just as you were pulling away from the dock, you could still see your parents running up toward the pier, their faces filled with anger and disappointment. All you could do was look back at them, your own face showing your determination to prove them wrong, until finally you couldn’t see their faces anymore and you flopped down onto the deck.
“Ohhhh, what did I just do?” You groaned, cursing yourself at your actions, “Please tell me I didn’t just do that!”
“You did, and it was bloody brilliant, if you asked me,” Wooyoung spoke up, “I’d never seen you so mad before; Other than when you first got here, of course.”
“Brilliant? I just declared war on my own parents!” You exclaimed, sitting straight up, “I’m not even the captain, what right did I have to do that?! Not to mention that there’s no way a single pirate crew can bring down an entire kingdom, this is insane-!”
You were cut off by Hongjoong grabbing onto your shoulders, “(Y/N)! Calm down! We’re going to be alright! If you hadn’t declared war, I was certainly going to by the way they were talking about you. And you know I wouldn’t lead us into a fight if I didn’t think there was a chance we were going to win.”
“She has a point, Hongjoong,” Seonghwa spoke up, “We’re just one ship, how could we go up against the entire naval army?”
“I never said it would be easy, but have you forgotten that I am the Pirate King? Come now, you must know me better than that by now. Besides, I know someone, someone who can help, though I admit I am… slightly hesitant to ask for it,” Hongjoong replied, his voice certain until the last sentence.
“Why? Because they might not agree?” Mingi asked curiously.
“No, because it’ll give him an opening to criticize me and I’m not exactly looking forward to that,” Hongjoong answered, “But if that’s what it takes, then I’ll do it. I’d rather swallow my pride than let us go in at a disadvantage.”
“Who is it?” You questioned, curious to know about the man who made even Hongjoong hesitant to ask for help.
“You’ll be meeting him soon enough, so I guess I could say it, though I’m really not looking forward to it,” He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, “It’s my mentor, Eden. The one who taught me how to be a pirate.”
“Ah, that’s right!” Seonghwa nodded, “He’ll likely be able to help. It may not give us the winning edge, but it’ll be something, at least.”
“And maybe we can go back to Elysia, try to see if we can squeeze anything out of Maddox,” Yunho added, “Better to try and fail than not try at all.”
“I’ve been wanting to pay a visit to Maddox again anyway,” Hongjoong frowned, “There’s some questions that need answering and he’s the only person who’s able to do it.” His eyes quickly shot to you before looking back towards the rest of the crew.
“I’d still like to go back to my family, if it’s alright with you, Captain,” Jongho spoke up, “It’d probably be for the best to let them know what’s happening, especially if we’re going at war with the kingdom.”
“Of course,” Hongjoong agreed, “If anyone else would like to see their families as well, I’m more than willing than to sail wherever we needed to.” He paused for a moment, as if waiting for an answer, but was met with silence. “Alright, we’ll head for Jongho’s family and then I’ll send for Eden while we’re there. No doubt he’ll take the chance to give me an earful…”
                                                               ~
Later that night, you quietly climbed up the rope to the crow’s nest, now being quite adept at being able to do so without falling. Once you arrived at the top, you were shocked to find Hongjoong already there, seemingly waiting for you.
“Hongjoong? What are you doing here?” You asked, climbing up properly before sitting down next to him.
“I had a feeling you’d come up here, it’s what you always do during a stressful situation,” He replied, giving you a soft smile, “I figured we should probably talk about things, especially given everything that’s going on. And there’s something I wanted to bring up with you, as well.”
“What’s that?”
“How the hell are we from the same kingdom but never knew each other until that day at the auction?” In all the chaos that’d happened, you’d almost forgotten that you and Hongjoong had found out you were from the same kingdom.
“Well, I was a princess, and I was locked away for a long time, so it’d make sense we’d never met,” You reasoned, “I remember hearing about people thinking my existence was a myth, I was seen so rarely.”
“But that’s the thing, we did meet before, remember?” Hongjoong recalled, “In which case, it would’ve had to been then. But not once do I ever remember hearing of a princess, a prince, certainly, but not a princess. At least, not while I was there. I left when I was twelve, so you would’ve had to been born after that for me to not remember you, and clearly, you weren’t.”
“I don’t know, Hongjoong,” You shook your head, “I don’t remember you either, it’s not like I had the opportunity to. I’m not sure how we met before, but you’re definitely right, it had to be then…”
“If I can be honest,” Hongjoong spoke after a beat of silence, “I had a dream last night. One I couldn’t explain. It was the day I stowed away aboard Eden’s ship, but it was different this time. Before, I’d always remember running away alone, but this time, there were two other children with me. One boy, one girl. I woke up before I managed to get her name, but I have a feeling I know who it is.”
“Me,” You whispered, “But how? I don’t remember running around with anyone but my brother, let alone helping someone stowaway on a pirate ship.” Things were silent between you two before you spoke up again, “How…. How did you end up on Eden’s ship, then? Maybe if you tell me, then I can remember.”
“Being completely honest, I don’t remember anything from around that time very vividly, and I don’t like to, either.” Hongjoong sighed, “I was a slave, no parents in the picture. I used to be beaten within an inch of my life almost daily until, as I remembered it, I finally got the guts to runaway and snuck onto Eden’s ship. He found me almost right away, of course, but somehow he decided I was worth keeping around and ended up becoming my mentor. But if my dream is truly what happened, then you and I assume your brother saved me.”
“My mother always went on about how I wasn’t allowed out of the palace because I caused a scene in town, but I could never remember exactly what the scene was, and she’d never tell me,” You frowned, “But if what you’re saying is true, then maybe… that’s the scene she was talking about? It’d be very much like her to be mad because I left a slave get away. But then wouldn’t my brother remember as well? He’s never mentioned anything of the sort.”
“Well, you have said you aren’t the closest, maybe he does and just never talked about it,” Hongjoong wondered, “All this is mere speculation, anyway, at least until we talk to Maddox again. Let’s just hope we’ll actually be able to get some answers out of him.”
“All this is so complicated,” You laughed out, a bit out of exasperation, “To think this all started because you saw me at an auction.”
“It is hard to believe,” He chuckled, “But I don’t regret it. Honestly, that was probably the best decision I’ve ever made. I can’t imagine my life without you in it now.”
Pushing down the fluttering feeling his words gave you, you responded, “Neither can I. I’m glad, at the very least, I can be back on this ship with you. …I’m sorry, by the way. About not keeping my promise not to leave.”
“It’s alright, you’re back now,” He shook his head, hugging you close to him, “I’ll just have to make sure the opportunity for you to leave never comes again, is all. I plan on keeping you with me for a very long time.”
“That’s good, because I plan on staying with you for a very long time,” You smiled, “And this time, I mean it. No more running off without your permission.”
“Great, since you nearly gave me a heart attack with that stunt,” Hongjoong exclaimed, exaggerating his relief, “We really do need to talk about this hero complex of yours.” “Sure, right after we talk about yours,” You shot back, making him laugh out loud, you joining in right after.
He shook his head, grin still on his face, “We really are too similar, at least in that regard.”
“It’s not a bad thing,” You replied, “Just means we’re protective. Not a bad trait to have, I think.”
“You’re right,” Hongjoong nodded in agreement, “It’s not. But what is a bad trait is staying up all night. Come now, we’ll need our rest now more than ever. Let’s go.”
“Right,” You agreed, making your way to the rope ladder, “Good night, Hongjoong. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Goodnight, (Y/N). I’m so relieved to hear you say those words again.”
                                                            ~
“Why is it that whenever you come back lately, it feels as though you don’t have any good news?” Chunhei sighed, setting down Kangdae, who quickly ran his way up towards you.
“(Y/N)! You’re back!” The small boy cheered, making you giggle in amusement.
“Of course I am, I’m part of the crew now, remember?” You responded, kneeling down so he wouldn’t have to look up at you.
Jongho ignored the scene, answering his sister, “Unfortunately, good news seems to be rather hard to come across lately. Has anything new occurred while I’ve been gone?”
“I’ll fill you in as soon as you fill us in, you all look like you’ve gone through a war zone,” She joked, before her smile fell at seeing all your serious faces, “What’s happened? What’s going on?”
“Get mom and dad,” Jongho said grimly, “We’ve got a lot of explaining to do.”
As such, you soon found yourselves once again in Jongho’s living room, explaining everything to his parents and Chunhei. Once they’d heard you’d been kidnapped, Jongho’s mother gasped in shock.
“My god, (Y/N)! You aren’t hurt, are you?” She asked you, rushing over to you and checking for any major wounds.
“No, ma’am, I’m alright,” You chuckled slightly, “A little worse for wear, but nothing life risking. I’m healing up nicely thanks to Yeosang.” You could feel said boy straighten up beside you, likely gleaming with pride.
“That’s good to hear, dear, but if anything bothers you, come to me alright? I don’t like the thought of you being hurt,” She frowned, still looking over you just in case.
“I will, ma’am, thank you.” You agreed, satisfying her and making her sit back down. From there the explanation continued, and once you were done, you could hear a pin drop from how silent it was.
“Well,” Jongho’s father breathed out, “That’s a fine mess you’ve ended up in this time, eh, Pirate King?”
“It was inevitable anyway,” Hongjoong replied, “The Royal Navy’s been looking for a reason to start a full on war, we just beat them to the punch.”
“You do know this isn’t the same as the battles you’ve had in the past, do you?” Jongho’s father raised an eyebrow, “This is war. It’s not a simple business. There’ll be likely plenty of casualties, you might even be one of them.”
“I’m prepared to take on the consequences,” Hongjoong stated intently, “And it’s not like we’ll be going in alone. My mentor Eden has already agreed to meet us here, he’s on his way as we speak. He’ll likely arrive within the week.”
“We’ll also be going to visit Maddox, see if there’s any help he’s able to give us,” You chimed in, “It might not be much, but every bit of help counts.”
“Are you sure that’ll be enough?” Chunhei asked, looking extremely worried for her brother’s safety.
Hongjoong replied, “It’ll have to be. There’s not much else I can do, otherwise. But, I think it will be. I can’t quite explain it, but I have a feeling that things will turn out alright in the end.”
“Well, let’s hope that’s the case,” Chunhei sighed, “Oh, by the way, do any of you know a young girl around my age, Jiae?”
In a flash, Mingi’s head shot up, “Jiae? Did you say Jiae?”
“Yeah, she came in sailing a couple weeks ago looking for her older brother, said he was a pirate. And since you’re the only pirates I know, figured I might as well ask,” She shrugged, “Do you know her?”
“That’s my sister, what on earth is she doing here?” Mingi asked, urgency in his voice, “Is she still in town?”
“She’s staying in the inn in the town, I’ll go collect her for you! I imagine you likely wouldn’t like to have a reunion where people would be watching, especially since I’m sure you’d have much to talk about,” Chunhei got up making her way through the door, “I’ll be back as soon as I can! Hold tight, Mingi!” Once she was gone, you could see the way Mingi was starting to panic.
“Mingi, are you alright?” You asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.
Nodding, he started to take deep breaths, “Yeah, yeah I’m alright. Just… I wasn’t expecting this. I wasn’t expecting to ever see her again, and now she’ll be standing right in front of me soon. I don’t… I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, or say, or feel, and it’s all coming at me at once.”
“It’ll be okay,” You replied, grabbing his other shoulder to face you, “She’s been looking for you, so clearly she wants to see you. She’s likely missed you just as much as you’ve missed her, and she’s probably got the same thoughts going on in her head as you do. Just calm down, take a few deep breaths, and wait patiently. She’ll be here soon.” Mingi nodded again as he followed your advice, taking deeper breaths as the started to calm down.
It wasn’t too long after that a young girl, who you presumed to be Jiae, came running in, looking frantically, “Mingi!”
At once, Mingi was on his feet, rushing towards his sister until he was right in front of her, “Jiae!”
“Mingi!” In a second, Jiae had thrust herself into her brother’s arms, hugging him tightly as he returned it as much as he could, “I found you! Finally, I found you!”
“You did, you did!” Mingi beamed, pulling away to get a good look at her, “Look as how big you’ve grown! I can’t believe it…”
“Yeah, well, that’s what happens when we haven’t seen each other in years,” Jiae joked, tears coming to her eyes.
Mingi had his own tears as he asked her, “What are you doing here? What happened to mom and d-!”
“Dead,” She cut him off before he could finish, “They were blamed of piracy the same way you were, only they didn’t get so lucky. They deserved it, the rotten bastards, I’ve never forgiven them for how they framed you like that.”
“Who framed them?”
“Who indeed?” She answered back, “There’s a reason why I wasn’t framed either. I accused them anonymously, they never even had a clue. The minute they were hanged, I got on board a ship and made way to wherever I could that I could possibly find you. Anywhere that had a dock, I went on, looking for you as much as I could. Finally, all my searching’s paid off!”
“That was too dangerous,” Mingi frowned, hugging her close to him again, “But nonetheless, I’m glad to see you again, Jiae. I’ve missed you so much over the years, you’ve no idea.”
“Actually, I do have an idea, because I’ve missed you just as much!” She grinned, hugging him back just as tightly as before, “Now, care to introduce me to everyone?”
                                                             ~
Eden arrived at the island within the week, just as was expected. If you were being completely honest with yourself, you felt a bit nervous at the thought of meeting him; this was essentially the man who raised Hongjoong, after all. You could only hope it went better than how him meeting your parents went down.
“What is Eden like, anyway?” You asked Seonghwa, standing next to him as you waited for the other pirate captain to board.
“Well, it’s a bit complicated,” Seonghwa tried to explain, “He’s not exactly the most agreeable person in the world, so you might not get along with him at first. But he’s a good man, truly, at least as good a man as a pirate can be.”
“That’s what you said about Hongjoong when I first came here,” You noted, “That he was a good man.”
“Where do you think he got it from?” This comment made you laugh a bit, “No, but you shouldn’t worry. Despite his attitude, Eden truly does care for Hongjoong and vice versa. The fact he’s meeting us here at all when it’d be in his best interest to stay away says so.”
“I see. Then it’ll be good to have him on our side,” You nodded, starting to feel less nervous.
It wasn’t long after until an older man with about shoulder length black hair appeared, a scowl on his face as he looked at Hongjoong and said, “And what a fine mess you’ve ended up in this time.”
“It’s not my fault!” Hongjoong instantly tried to defend himself, “I was simply just trying to protect my crewmate, they were the ones who declared war!”
“Yes, and whose wise idea was it to accept a princess as a crewmate, as if there wouldn’t be any consequences for it?” Eden raised an eyebrow, “You might be known as the Pirate King now, but I know I taught you better than that.”
“My god, you sound like his father,” You blurted out without saying, quickly covering your mouth as soon as you realized you’d spoken out loud.
“I’m not!” Eden argued.
“He’s not!” Hongjoong agreed.
“He is,” Wooyoung commented, the rest of both crews agreeing.
“Ignoring that,” Hongjoong turned away, trying to will away the red on his face, “It’s a more complicated situation than you think. I knew what the consequences were.”
“Tell me everything, then,” Eden ordered, “I’ll need a full rundown if we’re to have any chance of winning this fight.” After giving him a full explanation of everything that had transpired since you first boarded The Utopia, Eden nodded in understanding, “That’s quite a story. One I likely wouldn’t believe if it weren’t for the fact you were the one telling it to me, and I know you know better than to lie to me. So, what’s our plan of action then? Because me alone won’t give you the edge you need to win, though more numbers do help.”
“We’ll go back to Elysia and see Maddox,” Hongjoong stated firmly, “There’s bound to be at least some help he could give us. Having some sort of mystical help has to be some sort of leg up against the kingdom.”
“They’ve just lost an admiral, so that’s still a blow, even if only a minor one,” You added, joining the conversation, “And after that confrontation, I doubt they’ll be in the best mental state. Those are both advantages we can’t ignore.”
“But the same could be said of your mental state, Your Highness,” Eden responded, “How do we know you can keep your head clear and do what must be done to win this war?”
“Don’t call me that,” You warned, “I have no titles anymore. And don’t worry about me. I can handle this, especially since I’ve got the rest of the crew with me.” You could see Eden looking at you, seemingly scanning at you before looking back to Hongjoong as his eyes filled with what seemed like understanding.
“I see. Very well then,” Eden stated, turning back to Hongjoong, “You have me and my crew at your service. But don’t think that means you can order me around for no reason, I’m still your mentor.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Hongjoong rolled his eyes, “Now, if nobody has any objections, let’s make our way to Elysia! We leave tomorrow morning at dawn!”
“I’ll go let my family know,” Jongho sighed.
Mingi spoke up, “I will, too. I have to let Jiae know what’s happening and why she might not see me for a bit.”
“You just reunited with her, you won’t take her with you?” Yeosang asked.
Mingi shook his head, “No, it’s too dangerous. She shouldn’t be anywhere near a war zone. After the war, then maybe I’ll see about having her join us. For now, though, she should stay with Jongho’s family where it’s safe.”
San agreed, “That’s smart. That way, she won’t be alone either, she’ll have people to talk to. Especially since she and Chunhei are around the same age.” While they continued on with that conversation, you couldn’t help but notice that both Seonghwa and Yunho were both being uncharacteristically distant, Seonghwa excusing himself from the conversation and Yunho’s mind seeming to be somewhere else. It was then you remembered that they were the only two of the crew left that you still didn’t really know that much about.
Maybe it was about time that you fixed that.
