embarrassing su thing i did: when connie and steven were arguing and there was this song that garnet or her unfused sang idr my sister was going through something similar and I KEPT SUGGESTING HER LISTEN TO THE SONG because
-music helps me -that song sounded like it dealt with her situation -music + song with message = surely this will help
my sister kept blowing me off, but to be fair that was really cringe of me.
SOBS... hey you know what you were trying your best to comfort her in a way you knew comforted you that's ok

Hmm... very... interesting? I'm definitely... practicing... The important part is I can kind of see where I possibly made mistakes. Halfway through hatching this monster I realized that maybe outlining everything in Sharpie was a smart idea. I was right, thankfully. Just don't exactly know what to do with... the rest of it. Anyways, enjoy this Inktober Day 13 illustration! Happy Friday the 13th :D

So yesterday I was rewatching Steven Universe just for fun, but then this scene came up:
Tumblr media
"If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldnt have hot dogs"
This line hits different now cause like, Pink Diamond wasnt "perfect", she wasnt like the other Diamonds, we saw how she acted and specially how she was when she didnt have a colony, what she did to Spinel and Pink Pearl...
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
She wasnt perfect, Rose quartz on the other hand was seen as "the perfect leader" by the crystal gems(before finding out she was Pink Diamond ofc-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldnt have hot dogs"
Pink Diamond IS the "perfect porkchop" ,cause if she were like the other Diamonds, she would had followed those orders, never betraying them and coming to earth, meaning she wouldnt had met Greg and wouldnt had gotten pregnant with Steven.
Rose Quartz is the "unperfect porkchop", making steven "the hot dog"
"If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldnt have hot dogs"

Hey y'all! So as some of you may have read, I recently finished re-watching SU again. While I love this show to death, I was wondering if any of you guys have other animated recommendations for me. I have seen my fair share of cartoons, So I'll try to list them but like if you know of a good one I haven't seen please share :)
(I believe these are all of the ones I have seen: Steven Universe, SU Future, Avatar: The Last Airbender, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, The Owl House, I have seen like half of The Dragon Prince, I'm working my way through Adventure Time, I watched half of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts a while ago so I may finish that soon, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Im halfway through Over the Garden Wall, I've seen a bit of Total Drama Island, and I think that's about it in terms of the stuff I've watched that was originally intended for children lol)
One of my close friends recommended I watch the youtube series version of Bee and Puppycat so that/s also something I'm looking into.
Anyways yeah let me know if you have any recommendations for me :)
Have a great day, and remember: If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs!

To quote another good, important, but like all things flawed show: "If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs."
!!!! so true!!! very much goes into what i was saying about people's need for perfection from their media which. is just unrealistic and also exhausting

S1 Episode 2: Laser Light Cannon
Tumblr media
Any episode with Greg always hits really close to home for me. He reminds me a lot of my own father in a lot of ways, and I admittedly see a bit of myself in steven as he grew up, largely probably because I was around the same age as him as this show went on.
I think this episode is a great showing for who Greg is as a character and how the others feel about him. It starts as a normal "Dumb cartoon dad" archetype, and yet very quickly subverts that and goes for something so much more real and relatable.
Greg isn't an idiot. Sure he's a washed up rockstar living in his van, but at his core he's still a very kind and very knowledgeable guy. He's just a dad doing his best with these magical alien space rocks and his son who's between all of them. He only seems like an idiot at times because of the gems seeming impossibly brilliant.
At the end of it all, they were only able to save the day because of him. Despite doubting his usefulness, he really did have the cannon save and sound, and was able to get it to them just in time. And Steven only being able to use the cannon because of Greg's words, all further shows how important of a guy he really is to Steven and the gems as a whole, even if they don't know it.
All in all a beautiful episode. Sure some parts of it are a bit rough visually, but the story and the great parts more than make up for that. And besides

Kind of sad to think about it because he was an activist so he wanted the messages to be passed correctly, even more so if it was about the evils of the capitalist system
It really is sad. Like a certain Greg Universe said: if every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs!
A good Lorax movie would have such a different Onceler... That would be pretty interesting, wouldn't it?

Get to know me!
Tagged by @sasslett! I was planning on doing a munday thing, so this is perfect! <3
Share your wallpaper: I loved this shot as soon as I took it, and considering I could use something warm in this weather, the view seemed perfect!
Tumblr media
The last song you listened to: I'll do ya one better and give you what I'm currently listening to. I can't do housework without music tbh.
Red Lights by Hyunjin & Bang Chan of Stray Kids
Also, maybe gonna start with this song for the playlist screenshots today. >:3c
Though the last one was a Japanese cover of Unholy so I don't know what my playlist is hinting at...
Currently Reading: I honestly haven't picked up a novel in about a decade, as much as I hate to admit it. Last one I read front to back was the Hobbit.
Last Movie: Funny enough, my last movie marathon was the Hobbit movies. xD
Craving: At risk of sounding like a needy sap, a good long cuddle session. But, also a pint of good chocolate ice cream and some hot cocoa.
What are you wearing right now: Pajama pants and my favorite hoodie. One of those thick, soft bois.
How tall are you: 155cm / just shy of 5'1 (There's a reason Ki'to's minimum height)
Piercings: I used to have two in each ear, but the second holes closed up after a while. Also planning on getting a septum ring sometime in the future.
Tattoos: I've got two, the Eye of Horus on the back of my neck, and a personal family design on my wrist which I got with my mother. I also plan on getting a delicate snake design on my forearm soon.
Glasses? Contacts?: Nope! I have been blessed enough to have good eyesight where I don't need them.
Last drink: Coffee. Honestly, I'd be surprised if I was able to put anything else here.
Last show: Last one I actually sat down and watched start to end was Game of Thrones back when Season 8 aired. I prefer content on youtube nowadays.
Last thing you ate: Animal crackers. Though if you want the last substantial meal, I had porkchops and baked potatoes last night.
Favourite colour: Like Ki'to, I too love purple. Though alongside lavenders I love purples on the ultraviolet spectrum. Like this:
Tumblr media
Current obsession: Ki'to. I just love him a whole bunch and can't help obsessing over headcanons and such.
Unrelated Obsession: Viera men (Totally unrelated. Absolutely. Totally wouldn't scoop up a bunny boy into the polycule as fast as lightning. Not at all.) I've been looking at too much fanart lately and now I just can't help myself.
Any pets: I have a sweet orange cat with negative braincells, but a really big heart. Here's some cat tax:
Tumblr media
Do you have a crush on anyone: Irl? Nah, not at the moment. On here is a different story, y'all got some pretty boys on here. 👀
Favourite fictional character: Do D&D characters count? 'Cause I really really love Beau from Critical Role's second campaign. Her character growth was fascinating to watch each week, and I still go back to rewatch that campaign every so often because I loved it a whole lot. (Even though I still have to catch up on C3 so I can tune in again) Honestly, all of the characters were amazing in that campaign, and went through such a beautiful metamorphosis.
The last place you traveled: I haven't really traveled, honestly. The furthest from home I've been is Florida, a little over a decade ago now.
Tagging: I have no idea who hasn't been tagged yet, but if you need something fun for munday and haven't been tagged yet, then I tag you! <3

"The Hidden Gem"
-day-dreammmm
“If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs!” – a line from a kid’s show that goes by the title, Steven Universe. I spent the whole month of august watching every episode and all the content it could provide me.
This Emmy-awarded animated show took place in a fictional town called Beach City, where ageless alien warriors known as the Crystal Gems live in an ancient beachside temple. They project female humanoid forms from the magical gemstones at the core of their being. The Crystal Gems protect the Earth from the disasters the Homeworld Gems caused centuries ago. They are then joined by Steven Universe. He is a hybrid son of a fellow Crystal gem known as Rose Quartz and a human named Greg Universe.
After they wrapped the show in January 2019, “Steven Universe: The Movie” follows in September. Telling a story of 16-year-old Steven all grown up and the Crystal gems making peace on earth, then suddenly gets interrupted by a gem stuck in the past, known as Spinel, that wanted to take revenge on Steven’s mother who left her alone. A twenty-episode epilogue series then began airing in December of 2019 titled “Steven Universe: Future”. It shows Steven facing the future ahead of him and the other characters. He deals with all the trauma he gained from his childhood but then receives help from the characters he all helped in the past.
When Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe, executed a number of complex topics we face in our everyday life for the young audiences to easily understand from a different perspective with such care amazed me. This makes her creation well appreciated by both adults and kids. The storytelling makes it distinct from the usual kid’s show norm and even common adult shows. The characters were made to deal with stress in a clear-eyed way and then properly recover from different obstacles are seen in it. We get to see inclusive and mature queer representation as well when we found out one of the main characters, Garnet, was part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It had to be the boldest move for Sugar to make since we rarely get to see these themes in television before. A revolutionary show that plenty of audiences loved was made owing to this.
Everyone in the making of the show was called the “Crewniverse”, and as I watched the documentary of the movie I realized that it needed so much work and absolute love to put into it to be a whole. From writing and creating the storyboard, compositions of the songs, the new character designs, animation making, and reuniting the voice actors, to the finalization—their work began to mean even more to me.
For it to be an ongoing cartoon on the channel, Cartoon Network, their visuals needed to fit the standard that they had for recognizable characters, color combinations and details easy on the eyes, and more kid-friendly ideas for a plot. This contradicts the pilot episode they made that had a lot of detail in the background and the character designs, a darker color palette, and a much more terrifying monster to defeat. This ground-breaking style Rebecca preferred required changes. In the end, some elements still made it, and the pastel color palette worked beautifully with the story’s feel. I appreciated the countless little details they added to the backgrounds or their personalities in episodes that added context to what the life of the characters looked like. Every character felt real in the show and each had their own story.
The musical numbers and songs are one of the big parts the fans loved about the show. It added so much emphasis to the storyline. They couldn't stop getting stuck in my head since they were made to be catchy. It’s interesting how a different instrument was associated with the theme of each main character. In Garnet’s theme, we hear more bass and synth, Amethyst gets the drums, we hear the piano in Pearl’s songs and background, and chiptune if often paired with Steven.
Steven Universe may have its flaws too, such as the filler episodes that don’t gain anything from the plot, the shallow writing of some characters, the inadequate animation some might say, and the bad twists. These are well-known mistakes of the show that the producers had the potential to improve. Though this is what they have given us and if every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hotdogs! Meaning, that if everything was perfect we won’t enjoy it that much and that’s how life is. When you watch the first few episodes, it may just seem like continuous nonsense entertainment, but once you get interested in what they are up to and start even predicting what’s going to happen, it will be worth the watch.
It was said that Rebecca as the creator, held this show personally and partially based it on her experiences in real life. Teaching kids how love, both for others and ourselves, can help us persevere through life's hardest challenges is the show’s most lesson to the audience. With the complex storyline they have created, the lessons and the sense of reality still hits you. Having seen their adventures, and how they faced a variety of challenges, and experienced growth together made me feel too connected to its story. It’s a show that I will treasure as I get through life. As I end this, I will finally get to say farewell to this Steven Universe phase I got into. After all my research I have consumed enough, and I will recommend my friends to try and give it a watch too. This shall be my act of gratitude for showing me another perspective on being human.

Tentative List + propaganda
submit a parent to the form
Joel from TLOU
-he murders a whole fucking hospital for his kid.
Greg from SU
-if every porkchop were perfect we wouldn't have hotdogs
Starlo from Undertale Yellow
-awesome cowboy dad !! he (dad) and his posse (family) adopts clover (child) in game and teaches them how to be a cowboy. he even let's them be deputy for like 10 and says he's proud of clover ❤️❤️ spoilers but one notable thing is when starlo suspects that ceroba might hurt clover, starlo chases after, and has one of his posse take clover to a safer location. i don't know if this is good enough too but when having a duel with clover in genocide route he doesn't shoot them with a real bullet because he didn't have the heart to hurt them. anyways i love star dad xoxo
Arthur Lester from Malevolent
-he had a single daughter, faroe, who he inadvertently drowned when she was 4 because she was left in the bath while he was being angsty and playing piano. hes super guilty about it tho so i forgive him <3
Solazar from Friday Night Funkin: Entity
-he's an adoptive father of two sons of another species and took them in as babies, raised them to become strong and is a role model for them. his species is typically a survival focused one that doesn't associate with humanlike habits so he actively opposed his species to care for these two kids. he also has a yummy design
Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek DS9
-Okay so he's like space jesus but he's also a single father right? So he's here space jesus-ing it up while still taking care of his teenage son on this shitsack of a space station and like, his son has seen war and stuff and has travelled between universes and Ben just goes "okay Jake-o be careful and be home for dinner :)" he's so chill but he would literally die for Jake his little boy Jake because he's literally all he has left??? Space jesus and his son Jake-o, I love them dearly, and tbh I think Ben is the best dad in Star Trek, because he actually pays attention to and nurtures his son and his interests
Grunkle Stan from Gravity Falls
-he is like kind of a convicted felon but we forgive him becuz the government is stupid. he is awesome great father for dipper and mabel
