heyo genuine question! my mom thinks that catholics worship saints like idols, because you pray to them n stuff. but I've heard from catholic people i follow that you guys don't treat saints like idols, but rather as people to admire. but I'm confused... how do you pray to something/someone and not treat them like an idol? how does praying to saints work?

genuine question, no hate or anything. I just want to hear from you, an actual catholic, what the truth is.

Thanks for the question! I'll answer it to the best of my ability, but if anyone wants to jump in to expand on something or correct me, please feel free.

The big thing is that faithful Catholics don't believe the Saints have any power of their own. Any miracles attributed to a Saint are things that God caused to happen through them. In Acts of the Apostles, when Peter's shadow fell on sick people and they were healed, that wasn't any power of Peter's, but of God acting through him. It's the same when we ask Saints for things.

As for praying to Saints... Catholics have a somewhat different definition of prayer and worship than protestants do, as far as I can tell. We have three different levels of prayer-- dulia, hyperdulia, and latria.

Dulia is the lowest level, and is the veneration given to Saints. This level includes very little praise and is mostly about asking them to pray for us.

Hyperdulia is the level given to Mary the Mother of God. It includes more praise, largely surrounding her role as Jesus' mother.

Latria is the highest level of veneration, reserved for God alone, and is what Catholics consider to be worship. The best quick example of latria is the Lord's Prayer.

it was like eren could sense all the stares you were getting, in his eyes those tiny ass the shorts you wore barely covered up anything.. (he was just being dramatic, the shorts weren’t that tiny but he still hated them.) he made a mental note to toss the shorts out as soon as you two made it home.

he tried getting you to change before you guys even arrived at the mall, but of course you weren’t going to listen to him— you never did. that’s one of the characteristics he loved about you but that didn’t make it any less annoying.

when you finally reached the famous shoe store, you couldn’t hide your excitement. you’d always been a sneaker head after all, always having the newest pair of dunks or jordan’s, a lot of people envied you because of it honestly, but oh well.

you couldn’t resist snatching out of eren’s hold and practically running towards the shoes on display. the dunks that you’d been wanting for months finally dropped, and you just had to get them before they sold out.

This store claims to be "official" Grian merch shop and oH BOI they are clearly not. The amount of stolen art on this store is simply owherwhelming. This is just an example.

They took my art, made 5 designs and slapped it on everything they could mass produce, resulting in more than 55 merchandise pieces with art they have no right on. And I am not even counting Grian Official (like TRUE OFFICIAL) mech, and some other artist I don't know, but clearly they haven't given their consent to this. Examples below.
