snw having chapel play chess with spock like that is such a glaringly obvious example of the writers cutting and pasting all the moments of intimate friendship between jim and spock and putting her there instead.
it is so infuriatingly clear their exact intentions in scraping all subtext from the genuine connections between jim and spock established in TOS and using chapel as their platter to display them in a palatable, heteronormative way.
like... chapel suddenly being the "i love you as you are" character when literally THE FUNCTION of chapel's relationship to spock in TOS was that she could only love her idea of who he should be. There's only one character in the entire series who never asks Spock to be anything more than himself. No, not his parents. Not T'Pring. Not Leila. Not Zarabeth. Certainly not Chapel.
It's just Jim. That is why their relationship is unique.

On Ben and me the makeup is hysterical. Oh my God.....-Rider
I rewound it 3 times Rider. Sue and I crying with “How's the fish. Nice.” It was..We were howling at your reading. It was so funny. -Will
We had so much fun with this scene. I just remember loving every moment of this...This is just kid acting gold...Cause every kid loves to be an old person. Every kid loves to imitate old people. And so we just did. Like we thought this was hysterical and I remember Ben & I just having so much fun... -Rider
It's such a good scene. It's so good.- Will
And dare I say it might be the funniest thing you guys have done up until this point. It really is. It's so funny. It's really funny. It's still right in line with the Cory & Shawn relationship. It's exactly how I would envision Old Cory & Old Shawn to be. It really is very well done and it's so funny. -Danielle

"The original book certainly combined a dystopic and violent universe with humour – perhaps the irony was rather heavy handed and maybe the humour verges on the silly in places – but I was writing a book about wargames for wargamers and not aiming for literary credibility. And just as well, you might reasonably say! My approach has always tended to combine high and low styles together. Sometimes that was to evoke a deliberate clash intended to remind us that this is all pretend and we should not take it too seriously. I probably couldn’t resist the gag. I did cheerfully plunder some quite serious literary references. If I read or saw something that "would work well in 40K" I used to just jot it down and it would be re-worked into the text.
I think that approach did colour the way other authors at GW presented the universe; especially in the hands of Mike Brunton and Graeme Davis because we shared a sense of humour (and often the odd pint or two at the Salutation after work). It was fun coming up with all the imperial mantras and nonsense sayings, and I think we were quite competitive about it, trying to make each other laugh whilst riffing on different ideas. We were quite an educated bunch. At a time when most people didn’t go to college we were all graduates – Phil Gallagher studied Russian at Cambridge – and both me and Graeme (and Nigel Stillman for that matter) had studied archaeology so we brought a lot of broad cultural and historical references into our worlds.
As 40K evolved, and other writers took over the job, it did get increasingly po-faced, which I always thought missed the point a bit – but what can you do?"
Interview with Rick Priestley (https://grognardia.blogspot.com/2020/11/interview-rick-priestley-part-ii.html?m=1)
So when the terminally online tourists, fan haters and posers tell you "iTs AlWaYs BeEn PoLiTiCaL"
Just remind them that the old boys made this game for shits, giggles, laughs, and just dumping random world experience into it, while making it as pointlessly fun as possible.
Wargames for Wargamers. :)

People really see fish evolution as this linear thing when it absolutely wasn't
Case in point: we have this picture of jawless fish were replaced by placoderms, which were replaced by bony fish, with ray-finned fish became modern teleosts while lobed-finned fish got on land, "March of Progress" style.
Except that like. At the time fishapods came onto land (Middle Devonian), jawless fish like psammosteids were doing pretty well (some reaching up to 1.5 meters wide)! Meanwhile, placoderms and rhizodonts were dominating the "big predator" niches and sharing smaller ones with bony fish, cartilaginous fish and jawless fish. Devonian oceans had a lot of diversity, and there wasn't a trend towards one "superior" body plan - we only have this illusion because of the Late Devonian extinction removing most of the diversity, but, in the same way as both sharks and bony fish are doing pretty well today, so could have been placoderms and ostracoderms!
Tumblr media
(Pretty accurate picture of what Devonian fauna was like, although Rhizodus itself didn't live during the Devonian, it was its cousin Sauripterus)

what if…
this wasn’t the first time Will disappeared from the Byers house in the middle of the night, but it was the first time Mike didn’t know about it and the first time he didn’t end up in Mike’s basement in a sleeping bag next to him on the couch.
Some days were bad for Will. Some days the name-calling and the shoves in the hallways stuck with him until late after school. Some days Will could hear his mom fighting with Lonnie over the phone or see light in her room late into the night through the crack of the door and hear her sob. Some days he saw Jonathan getting home after an extra shift he picked up right after school, or saw him being alone at lunch in the cafeteria.
Some days Will Byers couldn’t help but feel too much, almost like his body was a poke away from bursting open, letting out all his secrets and raw emotions. But he knew that wasn’t of good use for anyone. He didn’t want to worry his mom who had enough with trying to raise two boys and keep the house running on her own, or Jonathan who already gave him so much from his life so he wouldn’t feel as much the absence of their father. In days like those, Will liked to disappeared. It would be a secret agreement. His family would know right away he had ended up at the Wheelers, mostly because Will would leave behind a note for them to find in his room (he didn’t want to worry his mom and brother, of course).
Usually, Mike could tell which nights Will would end up in his house. He’ll notice his silences being a bit longer, his eyes wandering a bit too far, his smile not reaching his eyes. In those days, part of the light in Will’s eyes would be out, and Mike would feel his skin prickling with the need to reach out and ask what’s wrong, interlock their pinkies like they used to do when they were younger just to reassure him Mike was there. But he knew Will didn’t like to be fuss over and that he would come to Mike when he needed to. Mike knew when to expect Will in his garage, sneaking down into his basement to spend the night. He knew when to leave the lights on and the door unlocked and the sleeping bags ready.
But Will hadn’t been off that night. He had been happy, and laughing, enjoying the campaign, even after he rolled that seven and the Demogorgan got him. Mike flipped the lights off that night.
And then, the next morning, Will was gone and no one knew where he could be. There were searching parties and Mike had this stupid direct order to not go out there and look for his best friend. That was his best friend lost, somewhere in the woods, and they expected him to stay out and do nothing about it?
Even when things got more complicated, even when they ran into El and learned about her powers, about the Upside-Down, and the Gate, and the monsters. Even when Mike saw them pulling Will’s body from the water, Mike keep leaving the lights on, the door unlocked and a pair of sleeping bags at the ready in his basement. Just in case Will was out there, lost. Just in case it could help him find his way back to Mike.
And even in the Upside-Down, Will saw. He saw the lights shining like a beacon suspended in air, one of the few drops of warmth in the middle of this version of Hawkins. And he knew, of course, that just like his mother, Mike hadn’t given up on finding him yet.

I’m tired of cutting myself open and bleeding, just so people who hold my short-comings in their eyes can see that I’m suffering. I’m tired of explaining, with heavy breath, why I’m not who they want me to be- WAIT! THERE’S A GOOD REASON, I PROMISE.
To hell with what they think.

Why Doesn't He Want Me? (Scout, Spy and Heavy oneshot)
Spy took off again.
No one knew where he went, just that he left a note that said "I'm sorry, Jeremy."
Scout didn't react at all when Engineer told him the news.
"Give us moment." Heavy whispered to Engineer, patting the shorter man's shoulder. Engineer simply nodded, giving Scout one more glance before walking to his workroom.
"Scout?" Heavy asked, voice full of concern.
"It's fine, Heavy, leave me alone." Scout replied, grabbing his bat and a baseball. "I'm gonna go see if Soldier or Pyro wanna play with me."
"Scout it is all right to be angry, you have right to be." Heavy said. "Spy is bad father, through and through."
"Heavy, seriously, it's whatever okay? Drop it." Scout said, turning to face the burly man. "I mean, it's not like I'm a year old anymore right?" He forces a half smile.
Heavy stays silent.
"I mean, it's not like I'm six and my ma is telling me I better forgive him one day so she and dad can be happy right? Because fuck me! Fuck the fact I came out of her, she only loves my dad! She never once looked out for me properly!" Scout takes his hat off and throws it, running hand hand through his hair.
Heavy's jaw dropped slightly. His own mother told him that? She didn't think of how her son felt?
"I mean, I'm just the biggest fucking mistake!" Scout yells, kicking the end table near the loveseat. "He doesn't want me, he never did! He never taught me how to play catch, he never taught me how to shave, he didn't even send me a fucking birthday card! My brothers had to step up to the plate, but they didn't do it willingly! I had to beg them to teach me shit and look where it got me!"
Heavy sighed quietly, listening to Scout. He could relate, never having a father himself.
"I got through my teens years without him, I didn't need him then, I don't need him now! TO HELL WITH HIM!!" Scout shrieked, not caring who hear him.
Heavy watched as tears filled Scout's eyes.
"Why did he and ma have me if they didn't want me, Heavy...?" Scout asked quietly.
Heavy's own dam broke and he scooped the small boy into his arms and let Scout cry into his chest. He whispered soothing things in Russian and English., wishing he could take his newfound son's pain away.

"But Wanda's behaviour it doesn't have sense considering how Wandavision ended".
Did you actually see the show? Wanda ends showing her sadistic nature, punishing Agatha by being trapped in her mind, something that few minutes ago she was doing to the rest of the town and literally was told they prefered to fucking die.
Then, even if we theorice she didn't know what she was doing (hint SHE KNEW, she literally went to outside the hex to threat Sword if they didn't leave her alone) instead of reaching Strange because her "uncontrolled powers" and be worried about how a freaking dark book propheticed she is the destroyer of the world, she decides to run and INVESTIGATE said book. That was huge irresponsable for her.
And even with that, she was PISSED that Westview's people were angry staring at her and showing that they didn't forgive her, and she complained about it (having the character of Monica to try to push validation of her actions). She still doesn't take the blame of making other people a victim, and play the victim herself.
I had said that she has become a villain since Wandavision's finale, as well as so many people. And now you are surprised that she has escalated in MOM? The Darkhold didn't corrupt a good person, it did it with someone who was very cruel tendencies, who was obvious selfish traits, and who constanly move the blame of her own actions to other to justify herself and play the victim. Of course she went to the extreme with the Darkhold considering the base of her character.

I know we’ve become vehemently tired of Disney and their "live-action" remakes, but I just got a hilarious idea:
A live-action TGAMM episode/special with Ashly playing Molly dressed up as her and the best part: Dana as Scratch but in a cheap blue ghost costume xD
I swear that would be the best thing ever xD. Like those cheesy musical specials on ABC and NBC and such.
They did something like this in both Wander Over Yonder and Gravity Falls, where there was just a clip or a few frames of the voice actors dressed up as their characters, and it pleases me every single time I see it because Voice Actor Meta is my favourite thing ever. I do indeed want to see Dana Snyder lounging around in what's essentially a snuggie and giving the camera sarcastic looks for 22 minutes
(Disney would totally botch a live action version of this if they did it in any way other than a parody, like the above. They'd use nothing but gross-looking CGI for Scratch and give him Uncanny Valley eyeballs and replace Dana with someone like Dwayne Johnson)
