On my second watch through of Race to the Edge, and man, could you imagine if we'd gotten a villain like Viggo instead of Drago in HTTYD2? Like, instead of this big dumb brute who just wants power (that essentially is no different than the other types of vikings that Hiccup deals with every day), if Hiccup actually had an intellectual opponent who gave him a run for his money (and hell, maybe even some moral challenges?)
(don't talk to me about Grimmel, i know technically he was like that but Hiccup had 0 braincells in httyd3 and just overall this household is a zero httyd3 tolerance household, thank you. Also Viggo has way more charisma than Grimmel)
RTTE has its faults but overall the good moments in the show are REALLY good, and I love how they did Viggo - I just wish he were in something with a higher budget T0T

Naruto and Sakura are so babies to me BECAUSE they are fucked up off-putting little menaces.
They're the same and it's so funny how they can't recognize it. There's literally no reason for it, there is no connection between them except that they are both protagonists so the story went "Listen, I'm gonna make a pair that is sooooo ridiculously enjoyable to watch because they are sooo weird."
They listen to voices in their head?? Canonically? Both of them were bullied as kids for not being like the rest?? Naruto has freaking whiskers and Sakura pink hair!!! They are so bright and colored it's like a joke to know they want to be ninjas!!!!!!!! They are impossibly loud and bitchy, always up to beat anyone including kids and old people, don't hold back when it's time for mean comments or rejecting people they find ugly or weird, share a total of zero braincells between them sometimes, refuse to see themselves as being less than other people—
I genuinely laugh so hard with them. Remember that time after Kaguya got sealed when Naruto and Sakura panicked over how they'd go back to the real world? They had just saved the world and somehow still had time for their silly antics.
Their summons are (let me check ...) MULTIPLE frogs and a giant snail that can divide into many little versions of herself. They got those summons from their mentors, who happened to be an old man perverted to no one famously known for his erotica writing and a woman known by all for her alcoholic tendencies and being a giant loser that refuses to stop gambling.
You need more convincing? Okay.
Naruto and Sakura are a little perverted as teens and spend 70% of the manga crying. They are so lame in some of their speeches, epic losers from the very beginning because they were the dead last shinobi and kunoichi of their class. When they face a problem, their solution is "I'll beat it up with my own hands". Them in Naruto classic? For sure the stupidest duo around.
Half (or more) of their plans are the worst plans ever and the rest miraculously work so well you have to admit they were cool. They are obsessive and short tempered and even when they are the strongest shinobi and kunoichi duo around, you can't trust they will complete the mission without making it worse first.
... I correct it, they will make it worse first.
On the other hand, you have to win their respect, because they sure as hell won't give it to you out of the goodness of their hearts. They are the best representation of the Will of Fire of the younger generation. No one ever thought Naruto would befriend Kurama like he did, no one ever counted on Sakura becoming a world renowned medic nin, no one thought they would reach that far. They're naive to a fault and they don't fit the shinobi life at all and if they weren't the protagonists, they'd be the first to die or something, but they are the mcs and they are absurd as they come.
I love them sooooo much for all they are and all they are not.

Just binged pacific rim: the black and I got a few comments to get off my chest this fine morning.
*SPOILER WARNING *
I don't hate it but I definitely don't love it. My only favorite character is the sassy AI and somehow boy who literally has zero lines. I also like the little spider dude cause he's kind of adorable in his little hoodie. Other than that and the mystery of the plot to keep me entertained and the semi good animation is good.
BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS STRAIGHT SHIT. Like the main characters pissed me off the entire time. Except for mai because I shared her sympathy for being pissed at the kids dumbass decisions and caring for their idiots butts. But the two main honchos can literally kick rocks like they could die and I would probably enjoy the show more. Let me explain my annoyance tho in detail.
First Haley this girl from the jump made me want to drop kick her. Like this is suppose to represent actual siblings. I don't care how much I love my sister I'm gonna tell her when something is dumb and slap her when she losing her marbles. This girl MURDERED AN ENTIRE VILLAGE?! Cause she was fucking bored and nosy. Like did she completely forget the entire reason they are hiding in the first place?! I mean I'll give the writers a pass because someone gotta be stupid to get the plot to roll. BUT NOT THIS STUPID?! In more than one spot she has almost gotten her brother killed by being just dumb. From banging a glass tube while surrounded by monsters to literally putting everyone in jeopardy by growing attached to boy beyond reason. I can't blame her tho I would've saved the kid and gotten attached too but like she like Sakura from Naruto just in convincing everyone.
Like did he come in clutch later yes he did revealing some big secrets. My thing is tho majority of the situations were her fault Or her brothers by sharing one braincell at a time. For example, when the sisters came for them instead of doing a convoy stand off or thinking of strategies she whined... THE.ENTIRE.TIME! Like girl you are the main one that wants this dude so bad at least be convincing cause everyone around you has lost sympathy for your crocodile tears. There were some parts where she was cool but majority I wanted to smack her.
Now we on to her brother which is a whole other set of can of worms. He was likable in how focused he was on the priority. But this dude is a simp for his sisters to the point it messes up his character. She would cry and my dude would suffer agreeing even if he was right. He would be more likable if he disconnected from his sister. Not to the point that he like mean but he gotta put his foot down. He eventually did just not in a smart way.

Sonic the Hedgehog Analyzer, Issue #23: The Last Minute (Part 3)
Tumblr media
After learning in the last Issue that Restoration HQ has fallen (and losing Vanilla and Vector), all we are left with is to find out what happened to Sonic. He is not doing well.
Tumblr media
We start out with Sonic running outside of Barricade Town, with Tails calling in, informing him that Eggman already was at Central City. Sonic wants to help, but Tails replies that he needs to keep on running, as the data he has is a backup in case something goes wrong. Sonic tells him to stay safe and the call is cancelled.
Tumblr media
Sonic finally arrives at Barricade Town, wondering if he should search for survivors, only to remind himself that he cannot do anything to help them as he cannot touch them. Not to mention, if a Zombot hits the device on his arm, all of the data will be lost. He is quite desperate, not knowing what is the right thing to do - stay away and keep running, or try to save everyone?
It really shows how bad things are for Sonic, how stressed he about going against his natural instincts of helping people, and things are about to get worse as he spots Eggman.
Tumblr media
As it turns out, Dr. Eggman and Dr. Starline were trying out various frequencies to see whether any of them can help them control the Zombots. Eggman looks so done with this whole experiment, while Starline is just frustrated... and I guess this is their first big fight. Let’s be honest here, toxic relationships are the worst.
Eggman then gets pissed off at Starline’s passive-aggressive comments, while Starline responds how Eggman should’ve had a backup plan for the Metal Virus mutating beyond his control. Honestly, Starline is right here.
Tumblr media
Eggman then wonders if they’re taking the wrong approach and wonders whether they could hook up the Warp Topaz to the Chaos Emeralds and use it that way. Starline refuses, noting how the Warp Topaz can remain stable only if used with a light, controlled charge. If not, it’ll literally warp time and space around it. Eggman tells him they’ll be cautious, but Starline reminds him he is anything but cautious, adding how he still needs to inoculate the two against the Metal Virus.
Here, we can literally see the main differences between Eggman and Starline. Whereas Starline is careful and tries to think of all the parameters that could influence a decision or a move, Eggman is very opportunistic. Even if he doesn’t have a set plan, he can think of something on the fly - even if it does backfire later on on him.
Tumblr media
Cue Eggman dropping the bombshell - there is no vaccine.
Starline freaks out, wondering how they’re gonna be protected from the infection, reminding Eggman that just not touching the Zombots won’t save them in case there is something like a spill on the Faceship. Again, Starline is being the one holding the braincells here and Eggman is just borrowing them.
Then, they’re both called out on by Sonic, who wonders whether their honeymoon is already over. I’m pretty sure that the Eggman x Starline shippers are loving this comment.
Tumblr media
Eggman is happy to see him, calling him Patient Zero. Wait, weren’t those Rough and Tumble? *shrugs* Eh, I guess Eggman doesn’t care enough about them and to him, Sonic is the Patient Zero.
Things are serious enough, with Sonic skipping the banter and demanding that Eggman tells him why he had done this; that is, the whole Metal Virus thing. Sure, Starline may have given Eggman back his memories (with Sonic calling him Doctor Fashion Disaster and Starline adjusting his suit in response; it is a fun moment), but Eggman chose to go back to his old ways. Eggman notes how he isn’t Mr. Tinker, but Sonic responds how he doesn’t have to be Mr. Tinker but be like Mr. Tinker.
Now, I’ll stop the story for a moment here, because there is something we need to discuss.
Sonic obviously doesn’t know that Metal Sonic was the catalyst for Eggman’s return, but his argument that this whole thing is Starline’s fault is still valid. Metal Sonic had zero idea where Tinker!Eggman was, and hadn’t Starline dragged Tinker!Eggman back into the Eggman Base, he never would’ve found out either. So yeah, this whole thing IS Starline’s fault!
As for Sonic’s comment about Mr. Tinker (I will get to that argument once I cover two more characters’ responses to Sonic’s decision), he genuinely hoped that Eggman would turn over a new leaf. We see the look of despair, one that says “Why didn’t you listen to me?! Why are you like this?!”. I believe that, if Eggman weren’t a crazy scientist hellbent on taking over the world, he and Sonic might as well have become friends (hell, Boom!Sonic and Boom!Eggman already have this kind of relationship - albeit, being more on the frenemy side - so that is very possible).
Tumblr media
Eggman proceeds to mock Sonic for even thinking he could be the nice Mr. Tinker, only to... trail off as he looks down at the Zombots, his gaze contemplative, silent, reflective...
Uh, Doctor? Are you okay there? Was there perhaps another reason why you targeted Windmill Village, the place that accepted you when you lost your memories? Perhaps, because you actually wanted to burn all the bridges that connected you to Mr. Tinker? Perhaps, there is a part of you, deep inside, that misses being Mr. Tinker.
Regardless of that, Eggman notes how he will bring peace and unity through his own ways, with Sonic disagreeing. Eggman notes how they aren’t that different, always sticking to their own styles, but Sonic notes that Eggman is still the bad guy here. Eggman just responds with “Again- Agree to disagree.”
Eggman doesn’t appear to see himself as an evil man, but he also doesn’t care how much destruction he has to cause to create a world he can rule. Honestly, it is really interesting to discuss his views.
(Either that, or he is just messing with Sonic. After some thinking, I believe it is the latter).
Frustrated, Sonic demands that Eggman fixes the Metal Virus situation, but Eggman tells him how he cannot stop it. Sonic attacks him, yelling how this is their final fight before he gets locked away forever.
It is clear here - Sonic may have been merciful towards Mr. Tinker, but Eggman goes straight to prison, the key being thrown away.
Tumblr media
Starline observes their fight, but is not excited about seeing his idol battling Sonic (and losing). He actually feels apathy, recalling how Neo Metal Sonic almost revived The Eggman Empire, but acted to brash, having no proper plan. He then concludes that the actual reason why Neo Metal was so brash was because the bio-data he downloaded was Eggman’s, and Eggman is acting just like him right now. I’d also add here that I don’t believe that it is just Eggman’s bio-data that made Metal act like this, but also his own grudge against Sonic; something Starline doesn’t know about unless he was present for the events of Sonic Heroes.
Starline then notes that Eggman just doesn’t measure up, having lost all of his faith in him.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Sonic tackles Eggman, with both plummeting right into the Zombot crowd. Eggman panics, while Sonic is delighted, mocking him how he should’ve had a cure with him.
Tumblr media
Eggman commands the Zombots to stay away, only for it to work, as Starline finally found the right signal. The Zombots swarm Sonic as Eggman gloats how he can finally take over the world, while Starline muses how his own plan won’t be needed, but wonders how Eggman will learn from this. In a last attempt to stop him, Sonic spin-dashes through the Egg Mobile, destroying it and Eggman jumps on Starline’s ride, the two crashing on the top of the wall surrounding the town.
Tumblr media
Eggman calls Sonic an idiot, since now no one can control the Zombots, with Sonic just responding to go work on a cure. Eggman refuses, with Starline suggesting they retreat, as the Zombots go full World War Z on them.
Tumblr media
Eggman calls it a Pyrrhic Victory as Starline opens the portal, claiming how he won and adding “I hate that Hedgehog...” once he learns that the upload for the signal had failed. Starline suggest they could start over, as he remembers the range, but Eggman doesn’t want to bother. He acknowledges the risks of the control signal being used at close range and how the Metal Virus may have already started adapting to resist it. As for his next move, he’ll just kick back and relax, watch everyone getting infected and after that... he’ll think of something.
Tumblr media
We then turn to a despairing Sonic, who realizes he broke the data-reader and is close to turning into a full Zombot, his green eyes turning red and only small patches of his body still being unaffected. He is remorseful, blaming herself for not being able to protect his friends, for believing that there as something good inside Eggman, and is now paying for it every day. He looks around, exhausted, and speeds away.
Tumblr media
He refuses to give up, wanting to protect the friends he has left. He knows he screwed up (we’ll cover that in the next Issue) and he will make things right. However, he slows down, being on the brink of collapse. He had been running for what is probably days, only taking short naps to make sure the infection won’t take over. To make things worse, he gets a call from Amy, informing him that Restoration HQ has fallen, and hopes that this is the lowest point he could get to; rushing off to help with the evacuation.
Meanwhile, on Lost Hex, Zavok is seen talking to Master Zik about how their patience has payed off, with Starline finally appearing.
Tumblr media
Starline informs Zavok of Eggman’s failure to deal with the Zombots and Zavok demonstrates his power of control over machines. Starline is impressed, telling him he’ll be in touch as he still has some preparations to do. Zavok and Master Zik are gloating how Starline and Eggman are idiots (he is right) and how the Zeti will take control of the Zombots and crush the world below.
Tumblr media
We then turn to Starline, who has found the one thing needed to control the Zeti among Eggman’s paraphernalia - the Cacophonous Conch.
...
All hail the Cacophonous Conch!

chapter 28 taking me out again,,, more character building,,
naoya just can not win this man is being attacked from every side (deserved). the way i screamed that he got suspended from work for MONTHS? he is about to be INSUFFERABLE (like more so than normal).
AND THE LINE ABT AS LONG AS THE KID IS A ZENIN IT DOESNT MATTER,,, I CAN JUST FEEL THE PSYCHIC DAMAGE HE TOOK IN THAT MOMENT. FULL ON GLASS SHATTER SOUND EFFECT TYPE SHIT. OBLITERATED.
also its so funny fr how he goes over reasons for y/n’s behavior towards him, trying to figure out what went wrong, and it just… never occurs maybe it was the abuse? the s/a? couldn’t possibly be. must be his brother. zero braincell behavior HOW is he this delusional
AND WHAT IS RANTA PLANNING?? whatever it is i know its a bad idea and he should stop. immediately. like maybe its not on purpose malicious but i still know its gonna turn out badly and NO ONE is going to be happy with the outcome
and on the other hand y/n and naoaki- incredible. amazing. are they STILL believing they’re being platonic with each other after all that?? the cuddling?? i can only imagine if they’d been walked in on like that
N THE END?? NAOYA SAW HIM LEAVING HER ROOM HE IS GONNA BE SO PISSED and theres so many QUESTIONS raised from that. like does naoaki know he saw him?? does this have any impact on Ranta’s Horrible Plan?? is naoyas first response gonna be storming over to naoaki or barging in on y/n??? theres SO MANY possibilities here and chapter 29 is gonna kill me
Hello!!!
I’m super glad you like this chapter hahahahahahahahh It’s the beginning of Naoya’s suffering, of what he deserves 😈
Had to get him where it hurts most, and that had to be his career as a sorcerer… a punishment that ended up being kind of a slap on the wrist tbh, because why wouldn’t that be the case 🙄 I think if it had been anyone else, like someone of a less impressive heritage they would’ve been permanently suspended—it’s the Zen’in playing their privilege card once again…
And yeah, I can’t imagine how insufferable he’s going to be on the incoming days hahahaha like, he’s essentially forced to stay in the estate since he can’t do his work anymore, and not only that, nobody wants to hang out with him!!!! Only ranta cares enough to stick around but even then, the poor boy was like “omg I hope he doesn’t kill me for approaching him” damn he truly has no friends 😂 (well, you reap what you sow) lmao
But for him to foolishly convince himself that if no one is going to care, y/n will just because of what she did and because she’s his wife? Come ooooon Naoya hahahahahahha that’s just another level of delusion, like wake up my dude. I’m glad the elders’ comment was quick to put him in his place though :> (YOU SAID IT WELL, HE WAS DEVASTATED HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH it’s like that one scene where Mahito and Sukura are laughing at Itadori and he's naiveness, I guess)
At the same time though, I was like: the elders should stfu, they have NO RIGHT to talk about Y/N get OUT.
But still not good enough for him to realize where the true guilt lies; well, like I said, it’s something that he can’t comprehend yet. Holding accountability is not something that the Zen’in are like… avid believers of, opting to just put the blame onto others, like poor Naoaki 😒 man, it’s not his fault that Naoya is an idiot and that y/n prefers him :^) (you reap what you sow part.2)
Ranta is the kind of person I truly, truly think he has good intentions… but it’s such a shame he’s investing all of his energy on Naoya 😭 guess he knows something we don’t… anyways, can’t wait to see his plan and how it will backfire on them :>
NOW NAOAKI AND Y/N THAT SCENE… was the one I posted earlier about haunting me hahhah I know that by writing that I will be crossing a line so to speak, but at the same time… come on. Like, the two are getting to know each other and spending time with one another… they’re bound to eventually want to do something a bit more personal (this was highly indulgent too hahah forgive me 😭) you know? And y/n was in desperate need of comfort, it was foul how her happiness was destroyed like that and so quickly too!! Hinata… please… just take her out of there…
Also, be careful with what you wish for, ‘cause it just might come true 😊😈
Now to your question about whether Naoaki saw him… maybe, I think he might’ve sensed him but since he was like not wanting to entertain anybody, he was like meh who cares goodbye!!! Besides, it’s stated that he’s become far more obvious when it comes to approaching y/n so maybe he really doesn’t care anymore lol
It’s completely reasonable to expect the worst considering all that happened in the chapters before and how I’ve portrayed Naoya, however, he is in a rattled state of mind so… guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens 😊
I’m super happy that you liked this chapter 🥺❤ ngl I was super nervous about it (more on that in the behind the scene notes) but reading your feedback is always reassuring to me 😭 thank you for you support!!! It motivates me to keep on writing :> I can’t wait for you to read the upcoming chapters!
I hope you have a wonderful week, take care, and hope to see you around!!

things only their s/o knows about them [hcs]
characters: gojou satoru, nanami kento, getou suguru; gn reader
genre: fluff + humor
warning(s): mahito is mentioned
overview: just some lighthearted hcs about what happens behind the scenes that only their s/o (you) would know about
notes: ty @miya-whore for the inspiration and idea about the jougo and hanami plushies + for being the other caretaker of our shared braincell
go to part 2
Tumblr media
⭐︎ has cold feet so he sleeps in fuzzy sockies every night (only the ones with funky patterns tho)
⭐︎ enjoys buying matching onesies for the two of you. but not basic ones. he only buys the ones that could also double as halloween costumes bc he likes being over the top with it
⭐︎ spends at least five minutes posing in front of the mirror while he’s getting ready in the morning even though he’s usually wearing the same damn outfit every day. it’s his method of self-affirmation
⭐︎ thinks he’s a handyman. tries to fix stuff around the house. fails and makes the problem worse. tells the actual professional that it was that bad to begin with when you call them in. since he usually fails at making/fixing things, nobody knows he even tries to begin with aside from you
⭐︎ enjoys being the little spoon sometimes (as much as a 6′3″ man can)
⭐︎ sings in the shower and expects you to complete duets from wherever you are in the house
⭐︎ uses his blindfold as a headband to keep his hair back while he does his nightly skincare routine
Tumblr media
⭐︎ has a routine with the neighborhood cat where it waits outside your front door for him two evenings out of every week in exchange for head scratches and a treat. you secretly overhear him talking to the cat about his day and it’s hilarious
⭐︎ enjoys watching cooking/baking shows but also isn’t opposed to a romantic comedy (he’s secretly a hopeless romantic)
⭐︎ keeps a picture of you tucked safely away in his wallet at all times
⭐︎ sometimes asks you to rub his back when he can’t sleep bc it helps him relax
⭐︎ drinks his morning cup of tea/coffee before work out of a mug with the words world’s best jujutsu sorcerer on it that you gifted him (it’s his favorite for this reason). doesn’t take it to work bc he knows gojou would complain
⭐︎ hogs the covers and somehow keeps a powerful grip on them even in his sleep. however, if he wakes up and realizes what he’s done, he’ll drape them back over you and hold you close so you warm up
⭐︎ has a succulent he secretly named after haibara that he keeps by the window above the kitchen sink
Tumblr media
⭐︎ has to hold onto something when he’s sleeping (preferably you. he will never let on to it, but he’s big on contact comfort)
⭐︎ case in point: he had plushies of hanami and jougo made for you as a joke but he’s the one that always ends up falling asleep with them in his arms
⭐︎ loves having his hair played with and will nestle his head in your lap after a long day just so you can run your fingers through it
⭐︎ writes in a journal every evening before he goes to bed
⭐︎ is a snacking machine and will singlehandedly demolish an entire bowl of anything you get for the two of you to share if you leave him alone for longer than a minute. always manages to avoid blame for all the snacks disappearing at hangouts bc he’s stealthy and he just convinces everyone it’s mahito’s fault (and who’s gonna take mahito’s word over getou’s?)
⭐︎ wears an apron when he cooks and acts very professional but has almost set everything on fire more times than he’s willing to admit (and he’s willing to admit zero of those times)
⭐︎ has a green thumb and finds joy in the mini flower garden he’s created outside your home. always gets the brightest smile on his face when he sees what he’s planted start growing

I did a great foolish thing and reacted to an anti-jfm article. Now more anti-jfm articles are under my reaction and I can not forgive myself. I also want to answer everyone or just die😭
Why do people behave as if Fengmian is a bitch because he has all the power of the world and does not stand in the way of their love (yzy)? ... sorry im just tired
Ahh I'm sorry! I guess you're talking about this post. I completely understand the irresistible urge to engage when you see something so false. Sadly there's little point in having a discussion with people who reason things out like that. If they could have understood, they would have understood already. I would say just ignore them now, since you said your piece (and beautifully so) unless you're fine with an infinite back and forth that will lead nowhere. As for the post itself...
"she's not the ONLY villain." - strong start... who is saying YZY is the oNLy villain in mdzs. This was just a weird opening that makes zero sense and does a good job prefacing the absurdity that will follow. People don't think she's "the only villain" they are just tried of others excusing her tantrums and saying she's justified when the story itself makes it clear she's not.
"There was resentment within her heart. She simply wanted to let out the rage, even if it made no sense. All the rest were quiet as they endured her temper." (Chapter 52)
"her husband is just sitting there exhibiting such clear favoritism" - lol this line was written by jc and yzy ...
"so you're only here to break up this engagement if Wei Wuxian doesn't approve?" - Clearly JFM broke off the engagement because Jin Zixuan was making it good and clear he did not want to be married to YanLi or see anything of value in her, and as her father JFM didn't want her to be locked in a marriage as miserable as his own. He prioritized her happiness over making politically advantageous connections. In the setting of the novel that's an extremely loving, kind thing to do for his daughter. The fact that Jin Zixuan's one braincell then decided he wanted YanLi is not JFM's fault. In fact as the author of the same post goes to contradict themselves "ultimately I think that worked in xuanli's favor and was good for them" lol ... 🌝
"It matters that she does things specifically TO the protagonist" -yes that's how antagonists work...
"And we really can't discount the misogyny in giving JFM a pass that she doesn't get" feminism doesn't actually = giving abusers a pass and victim blaming, but go off op give us nothing.
"Who immediately was like "hey son say goodbye to your dogs (the only gift I have ever given you)" - ah let's wrap an absurd assumption in a clear innacuracy- Literally nowhere does it say that puppies were jc's onLy gift. Even using some weird reductive mindset of "if it's not written clearly it didn't happen" unless jc popped out of YZY holding a sword that's immediately discredited. OFC jc is more logically likely as a privileged Clan heir to have received other gifts that are just not mentioned bc the author assumed readers come to the story with a bare minimum of common sense... Item two, let's not forget that JFM sent the dogs away on the second day after WWX, who had been mauled by them throughout his childhood struggling for food, suffered for an entire day and still, understandably couldn't overcome his his phobia.
"Immediately, his hands went up to his face and he wailed, soon bawling his eyes out. He was in Jiang FengMian’s arms the entire day, not coming down no matter what. On the second day, Jiang Cheng’s puppies were given to someone else.
This angered Jiang Cheng so much that he threw a big tantrum. No matter how much Jiang FengMian comforted him gently"
novel: "No matter how much Jiang Fengmian comforted him gently."
op: "Like what kind of asshole says to his small child "say goodbye to your dogs here's your new brother! ok sleep tight in your new shared room I'm off to bed byeeeeee.""
.... idk ig some weird random imaginary one in op's mind
"JFM isn't strict, he just doesn't care."-
"The founder of the YunmengJiang Sect, Jiang Chi, was born a rogue cultivator. Jiang clan members valued openness, honesty, levelheadedness, and unguardedness, all of which conflicted with Lady Yu’s personality. However, Jiang Cheng’s appearance and temperament all resembled his mother’s. He hadn’t ever been to Jiang FengMian’s liking. Since birth, he taught him in many ways, yet he still couldn’t change..." (Chapter 56)
JFM is trying to shape the future Clan Leader of the YunmengJiang Clan to uphold the principles and ethos of that Clan and live by its motto. jc makes no effort to change or learn, preferring instead to pick up his mother's self absorbed, self serving, deeply classist views that resonate with his own nature. In what world would this translate to him earning his father's whole hearted approval?
"Jiang Cheng, “It served you right to be bored to death. You shouldn’t have played the hero and you shouldn’t have cared for such a hell of a thing. If in the beginning you didn’t…”
Suddenly, Jiang FengMian spoke, “Jiang Cheng.”
Jiang Cheng paused, knowing that he had said too much. He was quiet at once.
Jiang FengMian didn’t look as if he was blaming him of anything, but his expression had turned from calm to more solemn, “Do you know in which ways what you just said is not appropriate?”
Jiang Cheng’s head hung low, “Yes.”
Wei WuXian, “He’s just angry and speaking without care.”
Seeing how Jiang Cheng’s mouth and heart were still at odds, how he still felt defiant, Jiang FengMian shook his head, “A-Cheng, there are some things that can’t be said even if you’re angry. If you said them, it means that you still don’t understand the motto of the Jiang Sect, that you still don’t…” (Chapter 56)
We're clearly shown how even in the present, even after he'd already "tried in countless ways" to teach jc, JFM is still gently trying to guide him when YZY busts in and accuses him of not caring. jc is also shown again refusing to take in his father's words and instead agreeing with his mother's rant. He hurts WWX right after that scene to "teach him a lesson". The lesson being the exact opposite of what his father had tried to convey:
"As he spoke he slapped right at the middle of Wei WuXian’s chest. Although medicine and bandages had already been applied to the branded wound, being slapped out of the blue still brought immense pain. Wei WuXian roared, “Jiang Cheng!!! Come to your death!!!”
Jiang Cheng ducked from his strike and shouted, “You’re hurting so much now, but why did you play the hero back then?! Serves you right! Teaches you your lesson!”
Wei WuXian, “Was I playing the hero?! I had no other choice either, I was moving faster than I could think!"
And to be clear, JFM is literally just trying to teach jc to be a better human being, something that's actually important when someone will be handed a measure of power and influence over others. Something jc fails at miserably at as a Clan leader, as people are too terrified to go to him for help and he's teaching Jin Ling to murder and to cheat even by putting others in harm's way. It's just easier for jc to complain he's not getting praised because his father doesn't like him than to admit he needs to improve his character. Imagine if we just didn't take the words of clearly abusive people and characters, like YZY and jc at face value...

Why Lila is Marinette’s Own Fault || Miraculous Why?
(Before I begin, note that this is my opinion over the topic and am no way am bashing anyone’s love for the ship and/or character. I respect who and what you like, therefore expect the same courtesy. However, if this is something you cannot handle, please click the back button as this will be a heavily discussed topic. No flames allowed. Other than that, enjoy.)
So usually in the story, there’s always one or two mean girls who is out to get the main character for some kind of superior reasons to justify. And there’s no reason as to why they act this way just for the sake of being mean.
Like the Ashleys from “Recess”, who tend to pick on kids just for the fun of it sometimes or cause they’re popular.
Same can go for Libby from “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” who was out to get something for what she wants or just to be superior to the other kids in school.
For Miraculous, we already have that kind of character, Chloe Bourgeois, who is the daddy’s girl of the Mayor to get what she wants. And until we had some small character development in season two (which season 3 took it away!!), we had no reason feeling sorry for her and she was just for the convenient plot in the social life for Marinette in the series.
And then… there’s Lila.
Before I get into hand in this, let me note that Lila is not a good person at all in the show. She’s a liar, a manipulator and will do whatever she can to get what she wants. She breaks into homes, steals and molests pretty models. She’s been pretty shown to be just selfish without consequences and unless we get a background story of why she acts this way, she has no excuse. Especially when she teams up with hawkdaddy to now have permission to invade and spy on Adrien whenever she wants? Fuck that.
So in Volpina, Lila is introduced as this pathological liar to get attention in season one. She obviously goes for Adrien cause he’s the famous model after all. Reasonable considering as the new person looking for attention, you seek out the most popular/famous person in the school. That would Adrien.
Though considering with her connections, it would’ve been smarter to try and impress Marinette instead if Lila did her research before she came into the scene. But of course, new person so she wouldn’t know, but whatever.
And we can see Lila easily just says things just to get Adrien’s approval and such.
And so, Marinette follows them around (stalking? really?) because Tikki points out Lila has the book Adrien took from his father’s vault and threw it in the trash.
Now the SMART thing to do would’ve been to see how Adrien would handle the situation and wait for him to leave, if to acknowledge Adrien has a mind of his own and knows when to walk away (which he does). Or at the very least, try to distract them as Marinette while Tikki retrieved the book.
But… no. You transform into Ladybug to lash out at a girl PUBLICALLY, for anyone including Adrien to hear, just to embarrass her and call her out on her lying because she… “hates liars”.
Marinette, you fucking lie ALL the time! Most of those times to Adrien! And I’m not just talking about when in regard to being Ladybug, you hypocritical- (groans)
I can list plenty of episodes: Gamer, Aninmaestro, Ikari Gozen and hell, even Reverser counts! If she hadn’t lied about Marc’s book, Nathaniel wouldn’t have torn it! (sighs)
And before you all start jumping at me saying Lila got what she deserves, I only agree partially. Ladybug, as a public figure and heroine, practically the face of Paris, acted irrationally lashing out at a bystander because of lies which were or were not believable. Lila was broadcasting a post or making the news, she was trying (poorly) to impress a boy. Ladybug gave Lila the Regina George treatment.
Yeah, so you caused an akumatized situation and Lila hates your guts. Hell, I would hate you too. That’s like a celebrity jumping at an innocent bystander when they’re whispering to their friend about a rumor that only the two of them were talking about. You can’t jump to try and stop them and should just let it dispel on its own. At that point, Lila had no real power but you just influenced her.
And… oh boy did things get worse because of this.
Look season 3 was trash (except for moments in certain episodes) and I feel talking about the infamous ‘Chameleon’ physically hurts me but… yeah gotta point out a few things. The whole episode was unrealistic, and it was an obvious ploy to be sympathetic to Marinette with Lila back… but… you’re not fooling me.
So, Lila is still on her lying game, being able to fool the students and the staff?! Okay if you believe a student has so many disabilities without any paperwork proof, you can actually get fired for that for fraud. As someone who worked with education before, that’s just pure incompetence.
So yeah, Marinette comes to school seeing the seats changes to accommodate Lila and upright begins to plot to discredit her for her lies. UM… what happened to trying to start over with Lila after failing to do so the first time?
Oh, that’s right. She gets that way (at least partly) because Lila is sitting next to Adrien. I can understand if it was because they rearranged the seating without her say so but let’s face it. Lila sitting next to Adrien was her real trigger.
So since Marinette failed to acknowledge her mistake the first time, she spends all day trying to prove Lila is lying and in return the class is angry at her. Alya even comes to point out that Marinette is jealous of Lila.
And you know what? Alya is right.
Alya knows at least what Marinette is capable of doing so when it comes to Adrien and how far she’s willing to go. Remember that Alya is the one who encouraged her to break into his locker and steal his phone. So of course, she’s worried Marinette is gonna do something to the new girl.
I don’t blame Alya for doing one of the most competent things in the show: Warning Marinette to NOT go off the handle without proof and not make herself look bad in the process.
And because Marinette failed to do so… she made Lila her enemy AGAIN. It was bad enough you had her as your enemy as Ladybug, but now you get to deal with twice the drama!
Your own fucking fault, Marinette.
Also, the advice Adrien gave? I don’t blame for him for it and neither should you. Yes, his advice is not perfect, but with the options he has on his plate, its hard to do something otherwise.
For every encounter Adrien has had with Lila, it ended up with her being akumatized or a disaster no matter how he tried to handle her. We didn’t get to see how he would resolve in Volpina because of Ladybug’s intervention, but he would try at least in Chameleon and try to get her to see she didn’t need to lie and actually tried to befriend her. At this point, Lila was already triggered by Ladybug and Marinette so she just might have to take Adrien by force instead.
At that point, Adrien just wants to stay away and which he was trying to tell Marinette don’t interact with Lila or confront her cause there’s no way to do so at this point. Maybe he was trying to tell her to wait until her rumors got discredited, but he didn’t say it clear enough for her to understand.
And keep in mind, Adrien is a sheltered child with little to zero social skills taught to him by Nathalie and Gabriel. Hell, we don’t know how his childhood was really like even with Emelie around either and Adrien seems more like the pacifist unless he needs to absolutely step in. And he did by cleaning up Marinette’s mess in ‘Ladybug’. So now he’s gotta suffer being around Lila more because of Marinette making Lila her enemy.
But once again, this is bad writing as the writers of the show obviously forgot what it’s like to live in reality. In the real world, Lila would be immediately discredited without any proof the moment she came back. Not to mention, some of the class have their own connections and have more braincells proven in the previous episodes. Google search and such. A 5-year-old wouldn’t believe these lies in these times. Hey, I believe that because I once had a kid in kindergarten during my time as an afterschool art teacher look at one of my books I illustrated before and said they liked the ‘graphics’.
Kids are fucking smarter nowadays than you think.
The only reason anyone would believe Lila’s lies is if she’s magically influenced with some kind of ‘silver tongue’ spell or something and honestly? It looks like that’s the reason.
I dunno if Thomas Astruc or Zag is trying to insult the kids/adults or insult themselves to say Paris people aren’t that smart. If it’s the latter, you should see what you are doing because I don’t want to believe that because that’s disrespectful.
I know it seems I’m trying to stand up for Lila this portion, but I’m just looking things in a  more realistic and logical way. Did Lila take things too far? Yes, waaaayyy too far and should be arrested for it since she works for Hawkmoth. But it could’ve been handled better and that makes Marinette at fault too.
Part of me wonders if she’s done this before because in Zombiezou, she also causes Chloe to ruin her gift for Ms. bustier. If Marinette didn’t antagonize Chloe in the locker in front of the class, maybe she wouldn’t have done anything. Again, I’m not saying Chloe was justified, but if that was the reason, yeah I can see her doing it for payback.
So to all those fics where I’m supposed to be ‘Boo-hoo’ for Marinette because of what Lila did? Fuck you guys because you need to dig deeper into the story to see both sides and not just make it a pity party where Marinette is the innocent victim.
It’s called “Cause and Effect”.
And considering she made Lila her enemy, Marinette is gonna get effected enough because that’s how karma works.

Custom Toonami Block Week 74 Rundown
Code Geass: So we’ve got another one of those “wacky bullshit student activities” episodes, though this one seems to ride the hardest on “shit is going down, the world is ending but haha Shirley romance drama” though admittedly it does have a nice character arc for Milly so that’s cool. Lelouch is worried that the Knights of the Round are here to investigate him until he realizes both of them only have one braincell between them so it’s fine. Cornelia’s also murdering her way through religious fanatics so that’s cool. And last but not least we have Shirley and Lelouch finally getting together right before Jeremiah Geass Cancels her amnesia so she knows Lelouch is Zero and killed her dad and presumably the other stuff that Charles put in the whole school’s brain somehow. I’m sure this will end well and their romance will survive in a way that isn’t insanely tragic.
Inuyasha: We’re still in fillertown and it’s another SangoxMiroku episode. Man we get a lot of these in filler huh? I kinda don’t remember which Sango/Miroku moments are canon at this point. I’d kinda laugh if it was just all filler and some manga-only fans were bewildered when they ended up together in the end. Anyway, Feudal Lord has a thing for Sango because he has great taste and Kagome ships Sango/Miroku so she doesn’t want her to go, Miroku’s like “Hey it’s her choice, she’s been through enough, she can choose her own life, I’m not gonna get involved” which is pretty mature but the girls still hate on him for it. Sango’s just like “Dude even if I wanted to stay I still have this Naraku-slaying quest to go on and I’m not about to sit around all day and be royalty while my friends go kick Naraku’s ass for me.” Which is how most love confessions in this series go. Also Sango suplexes a demon bear the size of a building with her bare hands and it’s pretty great. In the end the lord doesn’t give up going after Sango but they finish the bear stuff and are on their way. I like how they don’t go out of their way to demonize this guy in the end to prop Miroku up, he’s still a good guy, Sango’s just got shit to do and is more the type to like a warrior who’s got her back. There’s some really cute shipping shenanigans here and all in all it’s fun filler.
Yu Yu Hakusho: We’ve got a three for one deal here as Yusuke and Kuwabara assblast their way through the Dark Triad in one episode, continuing their power play of beating villains with little effort while the boss man bets that they’ll completely wreck his guards which is still a pretty interesting dynamic. We’ve got cringey 90s trans commentary, an invisible dude that gets blindsided easily and a hostage ogre that gets beaten by Botan taking off her coat. Honestly for these guys being supposedly minibosses they kind of went down easier than some of the grunts. But now Kuwabara’s in contact with Yukina because his bullshit power of love connection actually works for some reason and they’re in on the final fight with the Toguro brothers. With this many people betting the GDP of countries on the fight there’s no way this isn’t rigged. I really like how YYH basically makes shonen fights just part of stupid black market deals for a large part of it, just like in real life everything’s decided by some old rich guy.
Fate Zero: Kayneth’s still fucked up and has Rock Lee syndrome and can’t use jutsu anymore so his wife’s like “Yo buddy you can’t give Lancer the magic cummies anymore anyway, lemme take control of your hunky knight manslave or I swear to god I’ll rip your arm off and jerk him off with it” which since she asked so nicely he just kind of does. With Lancer still kinda being uppity about Kayneth having dibs on his soul and Sola-Ui being weirdly horny and increasingly yandere for him I’m sure this’ll end well. Saber and Kiritsugu are still pissy with each other because Saber wants to go after Caster to stop the child murders which is fair but she’s also injured and shit and she’s mad at Kiritsugu for not teaming up with Kayneth to just take down Caster right there and I mean I don’t think he really had time to suggest a truce while getting attacked with Terminator 2 goo, he’s not really the asshole here. Meanwhile and more importantly, ISKANDAR HAS PANTS! Nothing can stop him now and they crash Caster’s child murder party and are jumped by Assassin’s Forty Thieves (they aren’t named yet but I’mma just assume) and Iskander’s just like “Yeah no I’m not fighting five ninjas knee deep in child guts.” And they just burn the whole place down.
Konosuba: So in a bizarre Interspecies Reviewers/Food Wars crossover, Kazuma goes to a succubus house and instead of just getting sex they do dreams and shit which seems more complicated but I guess it’s less morally gray. Anyway, naked Darkness and contrived hentai plots ensue. They sprinkle in some good character stuff for Kazuma which is nice, it’s always kind of hard to pin down where his principles lie. Like he’s generally a scumbag and will take the easy way out of anything but he’s not evil and will give Darkness an out on their encounter if she wants and will get his ass kicked to protect his local sex worker. The Principled Scumbag approach is kind of neat for him, I wish a few more of these moments didn’t feel the need to immediately undercut themselves with a joke but that’s the nature of the series. I feel like one or two more genuinely sincere moments throughout a couple episodes would do wonders but either way it’s still amusing.
Sailor Moon Crystal: We pick up right where we left off with Tuxedo Mask throwing himself in front of the Kamehameha for Usagi and then she goes Super Saiyan and cries pokemon tears to bring him back to life. But the bad guys are somehow like ‘yoink’ and steal him from her lap through a barrier somehow (that still kinda pisses me off) and for some reason the crystal that booped its way into his chest isn’t there anymore and Usagi still has and and Usagi’s going through a lot of shit right now between processing the trauma of a millennia-old kingdom falling that’s partially her fault, working through her romantic feelings and having a Steven Universe identity crisis about how to process her identity as a reincarnation of someone a lot cooler than she is, so most of this episode is Usagi crying, as most episodes are, but at least she has a good reason.  Then we get a Girl Squad Roll Out montage because fuck it we’re going to the moon somehow.
Durarara!!:  Apparently everyone knows about where Celty’s head is but her because she visits Izaya’s office where the head is just kinda behind some books on his bookshelf and she doesn’t know but Shinra’s dad has enough time to mug Namie after telling Shinra and Celty off for their weird interspecies relationship and tell Izaya to have fun fucking around with the head. Also people have shifted from being worried about the Dollars to being worried about Saika and ALSO being worried about the Dollars maybe being at war with the Yellow Scarves. Celty’s looking into it and Shinra shows some character development in just coming out with it that Saika was the sword that severed her connection with her head… I don’t know how you cut the soul of a head that’s already cut off but okay, at least Shinra’s not hiding shit from here anymore. Also Saika’s about to seriously chop up Anri and Masaomi comes to visit his girl in the hospital finally.

Updates//Recent Inactivity
Hello all! This is me finally taking some time to sit down and offer up a rundown on how life is currently going as a means of explaining my inactivity. This is a personal post that is guaranteed to be both rambling and emotional so if that is not your cup of tea, I understand and happily advise you just skip over this post as it is not relevant to the actual content this blog was intended for.
EDITED: After reading this back I now realize this is really just me spilling the tea on my own life and is laughably dishy in details which is extremely not my usual stance on my personal privacy. But idk, it was cathartic so I'm leaving it as is despite the urge to redact 70% of what I say.
I'll start with the good news that I am officially out of lockdown and have remained COVID-19 free since my return home from the hospital. This also means my son finally was allowed to come home to me which is dazzling and exciting and also a little terrible too. He's at a precocious age where tantrums are the cool way to communicate and having been gone for so long completely thrashing his established routine has caused friction. He came home and his parent was not the same as when he left; is much weaker and less energetic than before, paler and shaky - but also there's the addition of my best friend having moved in to assist and take care of me/him while we all do our best to muddle through.
The readjustment has been rough and a lot of this week has made me incredibly thankful to have practically zero memory of how I was as a child. There have been injuries: I have been whacked in the face with the metal cover for a floor vent while dozing on the sofa instead of paying rapt attention to whatever silliness he was showing off to me, there was his complete dismissal of me asking him to stay back and away from the hot oven as I pulled lunch from it's fiery jaws only to then be faced with a toddler quickly approaching with his hand raised to touch so I naturally made a move to block him and in the process I let go of the oven door which slammed upward and clamped my arm tightly between it and the inside cavern of the oven while it was set to a roasty 400 degrees Fahrenheit - earning me a mangled arm with burns of varying degrees, and then we also had that fit where it seemed like a much more grand idea to scale the babygate cordoning the stairs and I had to rush up them to stop him from tumbling face first down two flights and of course did the falling all on my own and did it backwards then slammed painfully into the wall of the landing. This all happened within a 48hr time frame and makes me wonder why I am so catastrophically inclined.
I have bruises that range the majority of my spine courtesy of the wall and stairs, two minor first degree burns on my forearm that are in the shape of an equals and quite large despite the lack of actual pain I feel from them, and the underside of my forearm was instantly blistered then popped then melted down into a horrid glob of skin mush and sticky red-orange and is a second degree burn that I have been assured is no real cause for concern as long as I tend it with care. In all, I managed to escape my momjuries relatively unscathed and with a child that was scared senseless at having hurt his momma and is quick to listen and never stops cuddling me in the time since. Here's hoping he isn't significantly traumatized from this since exactly none of this is especially his fault and is due to my clumsy, accident-prone status in life.
So yes, The Toddler has returned home to me and after some happenings we have settled and are happy. However, his blast from the past father has suddenly just decided to reemerge after more than a year of radio silence and static and has slapped me with a custody petition. Hooray. While I have no worries on this matter due to my mother working for one of the top custody lawyers in the state and snagging him as my representation, and the utter lack of competency on my estranged baby daddy's end clearly being displayed in literally anything and everything the idiot does/says, I do have to now go through the overhaul of a custody case and that is just so weak and exhaustive. Not to mention the basis of his claims that I am not fit to raise a child are founded in my health concerns and the crazy work schedule I keep; ironically, my health is making it so that I have much less insane hours and makes this fairly moot but to each their own I guess. Also worth noting on this matter is that he only did this now because he was recently placed under penalty for child support back pay and nothing in this world matters to him like his money and this is his special way of getting one over on me for tampering with his meager earnings. (He's a wannabe musician - the soundcloud rapper sort, just so we are all on the same page here). If I thought for even a second this was a genuine desire to be an active and stable parent I would be a lot less pressed to act in favor of making it legally binding that he can only see him under a supervisory condition and share time evenly, but it just is not believable in the slightest.
So the thing is - my health is actually quite dismal presently. I'm due in for open heart surgery on the 8th of April and until then I have been doing my utmost to mind all the nagging I get from doctors, PT specialists, the surgeons that will be slicing and dicing me, and my in-family medical practitioner that sometimes remembers he is also my brother and not just an MD. But like, you guys, this surgery is terrifying and technically is two surgeries rolled into one. They'll be cracking my chest open and then stopping my heart while they lift it from where it sits sweetly unhinged and lopsided in my body and very finely shave away some of the excess muscle that has built up around the wall of my heart as well as some unfriendly scar tissue that has lingered since my last surgery years ago. Granted there is no accidental slip that nicks my ugly gargantuan heart and renders me as good as dead, once this first part is finished the other surgeon will need to be deft and very quick to place this ventricular assisting piece in the valve that has all but given up on functioning altogether and do so in the time remaining before the time limit for my heart being essentially unplugged from by body is up, which would also feasibly mean my death. Lots of exciting and terrible sounding consequences, am I right?
Well let's bear it in mind that I am just below 30 in age and therefore not duly experienced in the realm of facing down my own mortality via making all necessary legal arrangements and managing my affairs and assets so that, in event of my untimely death, the custody case still doesn't stand a chance of snatching my son away to the sad misfortune of being raised by a man that has stated openly he only has interest in his kids so far as what they can do for him/get for him in terms of benefit and that he would be unwilling to be hypocritical and never deter his children from drugs and a lifestyle of extremely questionable moral integrity and hygiene alike. Eugh. But I also have had to make sure there is a DNR in place just in case things go wrong during the operation, my will has also been finalized and notarized, all my savings and financial/material assets have been squared away to come into my child's inheritance when he is of age and, most importantly, a document that states clear and direct instructions for him to be placed in care of my mother or, if she is unwilling or incapable, he will be under custodial order and guardianship of my best friend whom he has always viewed as a pseudo-dad anyway. Legally binding and even in light of the paternity petition this document supersedes parental right by way of the provided evidence I have submitted to prove a lack of parental credibility. That's right, I spent days lowkey stalking and sleuthing about to capture what I needed to show this man for what he actually is and I have precisely zero guilt or shame for doing it; this is my child on the line and that means momma doesn't have to play by the rules of snitches getting stitches or whatever other scary street rules he tosses at me as idle threats. (He's done this routinely for all the years I have known him, and it is somehow both pathetic and hilarious because he knows for a fact that, if I wanted, I could throttle him in less time than it would take for him to form a rational thought between his drug soaked braincells - I was also a person of less than savory character not too long ago and can handle myself very well. But I digress because I am losing my track of thought.
After the surgery I will have so damn much PT and rehab, all of which will be specific to varying parts of my body that will need to be reworked and strengthened. Weeks, months of it really. This surgery is major and hits heavy enough that I will be in the hospital for at least 10-14 days just recovering from it without taking into consideration any number of complications that could pop up. Hell, if they get in there and find a situation worse than they currently have an understanding of in the limited capacity of cardiology tech can provide of such a gnarled beastly heart and realize they can't really do anything with it after all, I'll be added to the transplant list. I think this is more daunting to consider than the surgery, honestly.
In that way that doctors have about them, I was "comforted" by being informed that this was an inevitability and I would have been faced with this in a matter of years - less than a handful actually - but the way COVID-19 chewed through me sped it up. I'm sure my years of substance issues were also very helpful in this endeavor, but either way I still am unsure whether I feel better knowing this or not? Mostly I think I feel conflicted and hopeful tempered with the caution of life being super shady in the ways it has often brought me to the doorsteps of dying in situations that seem like odd chance. I also am gifted with being so capable in jinxing myself that I brought myself to COVID-19 ("The way life is going I'll probably square up with Rona next week or some bullshit." Positive test flagged within the following week) and also into labor ("Watch me go into labor on Labor Day since that would be the sort of universal pun that would strike my bad penny having ass." Indeed hatched my youngling on Labor Day of that year) by saying some things within the scope of my bad humor that instantly manifested as reality so I'm not taking any risks here lol.
The gist is that life is really stirring up the winds over here and so I haven't been online and posting anything that would make my blog valid in a fat minute. I do apologize for this and also for the fact that this post took me nearly a week to type up, but when things calm a little I will be back in full. For the time being I will be sporadic and do what I can when I can!
Thanks to anyone that read this mess all the way here! And a big thank you to all of you still supporting me!

Ok so like I had this REALLY good idea for an Obikin or brObikin bodyswap fic but also like my brain currently possesses zero writing braincells so here y’all get a bullet point semi-fic:
Once again, it all starts with a mysterious abandoned ruin and a Strange Shiny Force Thingy that attracts every remotely Force Sensitive in the relative vicinity
Of course Obi Wan and Anakin are drawn to it on a patrol of the area they’ve recently landed troops on
Of course the sensitive, normal thing to do when one encounters a Strange Glowing Force Thingy that gives off MAJOR sketchy ju ju is to stay back, assess it from a distance, and very much Not Touch It
Of course the Anakin Skywalker thing to do is to wait until Obi Wan’s back is turned, let himself get fully consumed by the urge like the Child Of The Force/Overpowered Giant Moth he is,and reach out and poke the thing
Of course the Obi Wan Kenobi thing to do is to realize last minute that once again someone is about to be a reckless dumbass, and try in vain to grab his hand and pull it away right as it connects with Strange Force Thingy
There is the very typical Big Flash Of Light and they both get knocked tf out
They wake up
Obi Wan has a splitting, blinding headache. Everything is Too Much Too Bright Too Loud and it’s all SCREAMING in his head at once for attention and he can do nothing more than lean over and vomit and try to let the waves of HAHdiwmwbk3683!29;@,!!/!~£{+>{!]=[*~?[!......???? just wash through his body
Anakin wakes up and everything is... muted? Duller? It’s like someone put a Force-nullifier on him but it’s only at maybe 5-10% power where it’s not actively impeding him, but everything feels slower and more sluggish and like there’s water in his ears he just can’t shake out
So basically Anakin’s fine to sit up and try and shake the annoyance out of his head and is promptly confronted with the sight of his own body curled up on the ground groaning
Now Anakin’s already been through Mortis and other Weird Force Nonsense, so he’s instantly like “shit” and scrambling away from the potentially deadly imposter
Except this is kinda hard because also he’s immediately blasted with waves of pain and confusion and almost knocked over before he’s able to slam up mental shields that seem way easier to create than usual???
Except now he’s also kind of panicking because the waves of mental pain also feels vaguely like Obi Wan’s Force Signature and shit that’s not good his master’s somewhere and in trouble
At some point after he gets his shields settled he’s able to register his own body and there’s another shock because those aren’t my legs that’s not my clothing these aren’t my HANDS
Anakin could recognize Obi Wan’s familiar callused, long-fingered hands almost on sight, and if that wasn’t enough, the startled noise he lets out that very much is not his voice solidifies it
He feels at his head just the once to confirm that yep that’s a beard and also Not His Hair, and oh shit, this is bad
Anakin looks back on the body that is his and the waves of pain emanating from it that feel like Obi Wan and even if he’s not wise enough not to touch strange objects he’s smart enough to put things together
Oh SHIT, this is BAD
Tentatively, Anakin reaches out in their Bond to connect with Obi Wan, not quite understanding why he’s in so much pain but knowing that it’s his fault for touching the damn thing and wanting to help
The first time he connects, the howling storm snaps and growls at his brain, but for once this is a storm Anakin recognizes
This is the storm that’s been living in his head for his whole life
This is something Anakin can fix
Obi Wan’s gradually getting himself back under control, but he’s still lost, trapped, until Anakin’s familiar bright presence shines like a beacon in the distance, gradually growing closer
The light connects, takes his hand, and awkwardly guides him out of the storm, into somewhere safe, and together they close the doors on the maelstrom tight, temporarily locking it away
Now that Obi Wan can think clearly, he’s able to blink open his eyes and see himself staring back at him
Obi Wan, says the thing, and Obi Wan on impulse swings at it, and the thing catches his fist and insists in a strange, not like him voice, that Obi Wan, it’s me, it’s Anakin
Obi Wan takes a moment to consider it, another to consider the fist he’s swung is a very familiar black glove, another to recall now that the overwhelming everything still clawing at his brain is quite reminiscent of Anakin as a young child and his earlier struggles with the Force, and a final at his doppleganger’s face wearing a I’m Very Guilty Master Honest I Am See Look At My Sad Tooka Eyes expression Obi Wan would recognize anywhere
(Force, does it look unnerving on his own face)
Obi Wan runs a tired hand over his unfamiliar unshaven face
“Did I not say not to fucking touch it?”

How long can Michael’s s/o be out of the house before Michael’s not okay with it anymore?
The bare minimum needed to maintain their social appearances and not come off as suspicious to those involved in their life. Day-trips are a huge no-no. Michael will tolerate S/O abiding by a work/school schedule as well as let them do any shopping they need to keep the house well-stocked, but their recreational time is gonna be reduced to basically zero. “Personal time” now means “Michael time” :v
S/O’s ass is kept on lockdown for these three reasons...
Michael gets bored. Chronically bored. Thanks to his disorder, Michael is afflicted with a very low tolerance for boredom; he is in constant pursuit of stimulation. (Can you picture how frustratingly monotonous Smith’s Grove had been for him?) Unfortunately, there is only so much stink-boy can risk doing outside the house during the day (his own damn fault.) S/O is the cure to that daytime boredom—so naturally, he wants them within toying-distance as often as possible.
He’s a controlling fuck. I don’t mean to reiterate this trait as often as I do but it really is such a key facet of his character. Michael needs control in all aspects of his life; self, environment and possessions. S/O is a possession. In confining them to the house, he effectively reasserts the psychological control he holds over them, which decreases the chances of his plaything developing a defiant side.
He’s wary. Michael does not trust. He will never trust S/O to not rat him out to the cops, no matter how severe he believes his mental stranglehold over them is. S/O can’t exactly get up to rat-ish activities if they’re constantly within 40 feet of him. Easy solution.
And if S/O has one single braincell left after so many strangulations they’re not gonna fuck around with this rule. They know Michael wants that ass through the door at 5 o’clock sharp to bend over the table and creampie, otherwise, they go to directly to ouch town and the creampie fillings triple.

I feel I missed a step somewhere. I loved the finale but during my rewatch how'd Michael go from thinking him and Alex weren't good for one another to feeling hopeful about them again despite having spent the better part of a year ignoring their past and being in a relationship with someone else? I can't quite grasp how we went from zero to that? Help! What did I miss?
Ok anon. Good question. Phew. (I haven’t started doing character arc metas post finale yet because I really haven’t had the brainpower, shoutout to the Isobel person from way back I will get to it!) But ok. I have done a few things from a mid-season standpoint that will help. I’ll dump a few of them in a row and then connect the dots.
First of all, this one discusses how Alex and Michael really were unhealthy for each other in a lot of ways despite there being a lot of love there as well, and this one is about the teen scene in the truck which partially illustrates the start of that problem. This one is about the scene in 2x02 which I think of as a followup to “not good for each other” in 2x01 about how just because Michael is stepping away doesn’t mean it’s easy for him. And this one and this one are two that address Alex’s progress, the first about when he gives Michael the ship piece and the second in the aftermath of 2x06.
So anon, my thoughts are these:
- Michael and Alex’s relationship was built on a fundamentally rotten foundation. It’s not something that was EITHER of their faults but it was true nonetheless. It was a result of both of their trauma, separately and together, but what it lead to was an extremely unhealthy relationship dynamic. Again, this was not something that either one did deliberately but it doesn’t mean they weren’t getting hurt. Both were trying to be with the teenage version of the other person that they originally fell for, and when they couldn’t be that for the other person it fell apart. Every time. There was also a lot of self-depreciation and self-flagellation going on and that’s not good for anyone. What Michael and Alex need to do if they are going to have a healthy relationship is to raze what they have to the ground and start with a completely clean slate.
- “I don’t think we’re good for each other” is Michael acknowledging the fact that their relationship is unhealthy (”lately that love just hurts” from 1x13 was recognizing it) and “I’m saying ‘no’” is Michael taking the step back he knows he needs to. That was HARD for him, really really hard, but it absolutely was necessary.
- Alex isn’t in the same place as Michael though, so he takes a few more steps to get to where Michael was in 2x01. The first was when he gave Michael the ship piece back, it was at that point he acknowledged that their relationship was unhealthy. But he’s still not at the same level Michael is, he’s blaming himself.
- It’s not until 2x06 where we finally see both of them at a clean slate. “I used to think we’d end up together.” “So did I.” Is acknowledging that both of them were holding on to an unrealistic image of a relationship that was ended the night of Rosa’s death, for a number of reasons. Now that they’ve both accepted that the relationship they were both TRYING to have is not possible, the slate is officially clean and they finally have good, level ground to start building on in the future.
- A last note, Michael and Alex LITERALLY destroying the shed that symbolized the original start of their doomed first relationship is a pretty heavy-handed visual representation of their arc as well as a very satisfying trauma catharsis I’M JUST SAYING.
So anon, Michael wasn’t ignoring his relationship with Alex. He removed himself from an unhealthy situation and focused on healing, which was accomplished partially with Maria’s support (which was NOT her only “function” and I have a meta on her and her arc and how that lead to their breakup as soon as I get the braincells for it) and partially with his role in bringing Max back that lead to him having a small breakthrough about leaning on other people and trusting them to catch him. He has “hope” at the end of the season because it’s now obvious that Alex is also out of that unhealthy place and if they were to try something now they have a much better chance of success.
He likely stepped back though, because he recognizes that Alex is in a pretty raw place; this is new and falling back in with old partners is not necessarily the best option. Alex needs a chance to find out who he is under the scab, and Michael is giving him that opportunity. So WE SHALL SEE ANON, WE SHALL SEE.

Character review!!;(2/4)
Optimus!!;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Optimus Prime! The must have bot for any series! Every Optimus has similar traits, and this one is not excluded; he’s a leader, he’s brave, kind, and is honestly just a baby. He is a BIT different though, a bit of a crossbreed between G1, and tfa. He’s a leader on the battlefield, but off of the gunfire, he’s actually pretty lost, and even rather introverted. He’s a cute character, but aside from him having the classic dad moments, I’m not too impressed by him. Don’t get me wrong Optimus, but I give him 7/10. Show’s fault on this, not him.
Cheetor!!;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A little baby we haven’t seen since G1! He’s a little different than I remember, but I appreciate him. This Cheetor was the assigned guardian of the allspark, and has a personality just as strong! Cheetor actually played a good role in this series, and I’m honestly very surprised that he was used so well. He was a charming character as we saw him hang out with Bumblebee and Hot Rod, and was even great in terms of plot, given his self sacrifice. Tbh, I can’t give him anything less than 10/10. He belonged here, and he was just, so refreshing to have here.
Hot Rod!!;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last debuted in the G1 show, Hot Rod honestly didn’t have much expectations from me, and I was VERY surprised at just how wrong I was! This Hot Rod took over as leader not because Optimus died, but because ALL he knew and loved was in danger. He self assigned himself leadership duty, and it genuinely felt much better than his G1 version. He’s funny, cocky, persistent, and he’s honest to Primus one of the BEST characters in the show. Him and his rag tag team were SO charming, I almost wish they took over the rest of the series. 10/10, Hot Rod deserves the world. If I had ONE complaint, Its that I wished he stayed goth till the end, but its his body, his choices tbh.
Jetfire!!;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jetfire (or Skyfire) is a charming character! He doesn’t play a huge role beyond aerial support w/ Windblade in some episodes, but he’s a fun one! Charming, articulated, agile, and a bit stupid, he’s everyone’s resident himbo, and we love him for that (ask Rack and Ruin). I really only included him here BECAUSE he was so charming of a lad, but he doesn’t do much for the plot.8/10, because he’s a cutie.
Kup!!;*no alt mode available
Tumblr media
I’m not gonna lie, Kup does jack shit in this series. Like he narrates one episode, which is smart use of him, but you could totally not have him in this series and it wouldn’t affect anything. He just, hot. 8/10.
Perceptor!!;*no alt mode available
Tumblr media
Or as I like to call him, Percy. Percy here is intelligent, and honestly, has ZERO fear. Percy is also selfless, and debuts by showing this, freeing Chromia at the cost of his optics. He also risked almost dying for the sake of information, with NO hesitation. He’s the one members of the parade party (that’s just what I’m gonna call Hot Rod’s team), and he’s the only one with a braincell. While everyone else is busy just going dumbshit, Percy is behind the scenes making shit work. He also took over Maccadam’s, and I thought that was genuinely sweet of him. An odd choice, but sweet. Honestly, 9/10. It’d be perfect if they sorta gave him just a little more spotlight, like maybe explaining WHY he took over Maccadam’s or something. He’s far from a bad character, but he doesn’t feel complete.

Gale Reviews: Cobra Kai Seasons 1 +2
Tumblr media
(Thanks @knightsweeties)
So I should mention that I love 80′s movies. And one of my favorite movies of all time is the cliché OG Karate Kid.
With the best mentor character of all time in movies, Mr. Miyagi.
So when Youtube announced a sequel series based off of that iconic movie with the RIVAL being the main character. You bet I was ready to watch it... until I found out you had to pay for it on Youtube red. So naturally I waited until it was Netflix. Then I finally had a chance to watch it (legally)
So now that I have watched the series in its entirety. I have some thoughts on it.
Which you can read below (spoiler warning if you haven't seen the series. I recommend having a watch)
The Plot.
I will say that Season 1 and Season 2 have entirely different feels to them.
To put it briefly
Season 1 takes place with Johnny Lawrence, a guy in his 50′s hitting rock bottom, living paycheck to paycheck as a repair guy, and still stuck in the past.
Everything changes when he ends up inadvertently saving a kid, Miguel. from some bullies using his Cobra Kai karate.
Johnny realizes that he still has a passion for karate, and wants to bring back Cobra Kai, but without the psycho of a teacher involved.
So Johnny becomes the sensei of Miguel and the two’s dynamic is like that of Miyagi and Daniel (the original master and student of Karate kid) but with some hilarious contrasts and snaps that make fun of the movie in a fun way. In a way, the season starts off like Karate kid, but keeps changing one’s expectations of characters.
It even has the last episode ending with a final bout between Johnny’s student Miguel and Daniel (the original Karate kid’s) Pupil, Robby (who also happens to be Johnny’s own son). So the tension between the two are high.
Season 2 takes place AFTER the All valley tournament and Cobra kai is rising. Now with the inclusion of a man long assumed dead coming back, Daniel now trying to get Miyagi do as a real dojo to compete against Cobra kai. Tension starts to build and it seems like a war is brewing, the events culminating in a legit all out brawl on the First day back at school, with an ending that really makes me want a season two.
Season 1 is about preconceptions. Johnny and Daniel’s actions are based on their own preconceived notions, People let the past dictate how things are when that isn't the truth. Daniel automatically assume’s Johnny is up to no good because of his personal dealings with Cobra kai, and Johnny believe’s Daniel is at fault for everything awful that has happened to him, thus resulting in each of them indirectly attacking one another intentionally or unintentionally. They even try to reconcile only for Johnny to find out Daniel was training his son in karate, which Daniel actually didn't know was his kid, but this broke any trust the other have.
Season 2 is about Perspective, Almost everyone acts based on their own views on how things went down in their head. Everyone takes these perspectives as facts and there is no way the other person can be right, until a third party gets involved. And just like in the first season, Johnny and Daniel almost reconcile again, only to their views blinding them to the truth.
___________________
The characters:
I think I will just list off the main ones with their own arcs in the show and tell you all my thoughts on each of them.
Johnny Lawrence: Johnny is best described as a man stuck in the past, both technologically and mentally. He is a jerk, and considering his a**hole step dad and the psycho Karate teacher Kreese, he didn't have good role models on how to be a man. He pretty much screwed up his chances of being a dad to his biological son Robby, and spent half his life drunk and the other half depressed and angry. The day he saved Miguel and reformed Cobra Kai was the day that helped him start turning things around. Miguel became the student that helped bring him back into the modern day, helping him recruit students to his dojo, and even helping him deal with his hang ups regarding his failures with his son robby. Johnny is by no means perfect, but he is trying to be a better person. He is kind of like that out of touch uncle that is ignorant of a lot of things but is slowly getting used to it. He is tough, but he cares. Honestly the best adult character in the series with how hard he tries to actually be better but life just keeps kicking him down.
Miguel Diaz: a young boy who Johnny has been teaching to fight. At the start of the show, he had ZERO confidence, and felt like a nobody new kid in a town. Learning Karate helped give Miguel confidence and allowed him to stand up to the bullies that messed with him. Miguel is a good kid, in fact, he is my favorite Character in the series. In season 1, he was awkward, and unsure of himself. But as the first season went on, he managed to ask out the girl he liked, and even made good friends. Though Miguel started to pick up a lot of similar habits to Johnny from the original Karate kid, albeit directly and indirectly from his sensei. But season 2 quickly shows Johnny doing everything to make sure that doesn't happen. Miguel becomes the most civil of Cobra kai, becoming a more refined fighter and even a better person then any of the other students in either dojo. Thus making the end of season 2 so much more tragic and not even his fault.
Daniel LaRusso: The original Karate kid. A car dealership owner, and family man. He was living his best life, lovely wife, two good kids, and just enjoying every minute of it, until Cobra Kai came back. We get to see a lot of Daniel from Johnny’s perspective and the reveal is, he was just as much of a jerk as Johnny was back in the day. Even kind of a stuck up a**hole that tries to destroy Cobra kai through underhanded methods like having the landowner raise the rent, or stopping him from entering the All valley tournament. It isn't until he starts training Robby that Daniel starts to act like the man that we expect the main character of Karate Kid to act like.
Amanda LaRusso: Daniel's wife, She is great. She also has the most braincells out of everyone. She calls Daniel out on his crap and without her Daniel probably wouldn't be as good of a character as he is.
Robby Keene: Johnny's street-smart son and Daniel’s karate protege. At the start of the series, Robby is a bad kid, skipping school, drugs, stealing, and running with a bad group of kids. Robby really didn't care about his life choices or his loser father. He did however care about his mother, who was busy trying to have her own fun and neglecting him. it wasn't until he started learning Karate from Daniel, (originally working at the dealership to Spite his dad) did he start to turn things around. Robby hid the fact that he was Johnny’s kid from the LaRusso family and the developments in the first season resulted in a dramatic irony. In season two, his interest in Samantha (Sam), started to cause problems especially near the end of season 2. Robby is also another complex character and he is an amazing Parallel to Miguel. Robby keeps wanting the things that Miguel seemed to get, and always seemed to fall short, much like Daniel and Johnny’s rivalry in the original Karate kid. This has Robby holding back information that he does come clean about later.
Samantha LaRusso: Daniel's daughter. The most experienced Martial artist of the teens since she grew up with it. She is much like the love interest in the series in season 1 and becomes more of her own character in season 2.
Okay, so I am going to flat out say this. She is an awful person. Like at first, she ditches her friend to hang out with the popular crowd, lies to her parents about a hit and run, hides the fact that she is dating Miguel from her parents because his is Cobra Kai. I can forgive some of the things as an honest mistake, and in season 1 I can even look past some of them, since she does do the right thing about standing up to Kyler over his BS But the OTHER STUFF?
Sneaking around with Robby who is living in her house at the time because of a family situation which is a MASSIVE betrayal of trust. Accuses Tory of stealing from her mom, attacks Tory at the roller rank over a shove, ignores Miguel’s apologies and actions to at least try and clear the air only to KISS him when he is in a relationship with another girl. The list goes on. Now context matters, and then there is the whole  situation in episode 9. Now Miguel was drunk and trying to fight robby, (like an idiot who thinks a guy is trying to steal his gf) and it resulted in Sam getting hit, which Miguel was mortified that it happened. But a lot of people are divided on whose fault it is, I really think Miguel shouldn't be throwing punches so in that regard, he was in the wrong. Now unrelated, Sam was in the wrong in pretty much every other situation she was in.
Aisha Robinson: The second student of cobra kai, that went from an insecure nerd to a legit sassy confident bada**. Giving one of the stuck up popular girls the greatest karmic punishment. She is tough and knows her own worth. She is also another voice of reason character in season two.
Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz : And the award for most changed character is Hawk. A quiet kid with a scar from a cleft lip surgery left him the target of vicious bullying. Dimetri was his only friend, until he ‘Flipped the Script.’ Gets a mohawk and a back tattoo after embracing Cobra Kai. He becomes a legit bada**. As the season goes on, he does become more and more Aggro, his confidence now coming off more as arrogance and lashing out. By season 2, he starts taking lessons from Kreese and when his mohawk went Red, the old good Eli was dead. He is the prime example of how dangerous Cobra kai can be when one has bad guidance. Blue Hawk, fun, cool, still figuring out how to be a bada**. Red Hawk, irredeemable prick
Demetri: sarcastic and Neurotic, he saw things in the worst light, a natural whiner that really began his road to development in season 2, his friendship turned bitter rivalry is quite fascinating. Though the GOT references did not age well.
Tory Nichols: Certifiable Bad girl. She joins Cobra Kai and she is easily one of the most interesting characters in the show. She becomes Aisha’s new best friend and immediately butts heads with Sam. She ends up dating Miguel and Sam’s actions result in Tory declaring war on the daughter of Larusso. She is the catalyst of a lot of developments.
John Kreese: The sensei of Johnny, there is a LOT of beef between the two, but Johnny actually saw how broken of a man Kreese was and tried to help him despite their rough past. But Kreese only had one thing on his mind, revenge. The show actually shows how much more conniving and cruel Kreese is, even more then the movie. Kreese has been in wait a LONG time and he wants to crush Miyagi do once and for all.
____________________________
The Action and Acting.
I will say the acting on the part of the characters is pretty good. The dialogue can be a touch hammy at times, but when it involves Johnny, you can tell its genuine. All the characters in the original Karate kid movie really show how connected they are despite it being over 30 years.
The fighting Choreography is also fun and gets even better in season 2.
My favorite fights being Miguel vs Kyler and the boys In Season one episode 5, Miguel vs Robby  Season 1 episode 10, and  Season 2 episode 10 the school brawl.
Honorable mention is the Bar fight in season 2 with the older cobra kai alums.
_________________________________________
Overall:
The show can be a bit much for some people, its crass and its more teens and adults audience, but I highly recommend watching if a fan of Karate kid, or just want something interesting to watch.
I give it a solid 8/10 and I look forward to seeing season 3.
