I won’t say that Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian have the the most normal sibling relationship because there is literally nothing “normal” about these two codependent weirdos (affectionate) but out of all the siblings I would say they probably have the most typical and perhaps easily recognizable sibling dynamic. Like the Lan and Nie siblings are obviously very close but there’s an element of parentification and also just the age gap that affects that dynamic (and the same goes for Jiang Yanli and her brothers). But with Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian it’s just like - “I’m going to tease you mercilessly but if someone else is mean to you I’ll kill them” and “I won’t share my soup with you but I would give you my kidney” (Or golden core as may be the case). And it’s just like yeah they’re brothers all right.

"Jiang Cheng never thought of Wei Wuxian as an equal or a brother because he never explicitly stated it."
Oh no, its almost as if there is someone who continuously scolds them for hanging out together much less refer to each other as equals....
its also as if them referring to each other as that could possibly add fuel to existing rumours which could potentially ruin their family life.

"Jiang Cheng would have been involved in the attack on the Burial Mounds even without the death of sister"
For context, this all takes place AFTER JZX was killed. From JC's pov that was all 100% WWX's fault (bear in mind, WWX does have some culpability with his death. He lost control because of his unrestrained resentment for JZX. Sooo).
Was JC not supposed to do anything? Just sit there and twiddle his thumbs? Object to the siege entirely, perhaps? How do you think that would have looked to the rest of the CW? It would have been very suspicious if he didn't take part in eliminating a potential threat to the CW. Especially when said threat was once a part of his sect and KILLED his brother in law. Wouldn't they think it is strange that he refused to take part and get revenge on behalf of his sister??
If he did object or refused to take part, the rest of the CW would have grown even more suspicious of him. And the Jiang sect would have had a huuuuuuge target on their backs next. Especially giving how power hungry the Jins were becoming.
It was a very difficult situation he was put in. Not one he could easily talk his way out of. We've seen him try to numerous times even before things escalated to vouch for WWX and even once for the Wen siblings. And we all saw how that went down. Do you seriously think he could talk his way out of this one? After a sect heir had been slaughtered by his former SiC? Come on now.
All of this is why we see JC desparing so much because he is watching his brother spiral and spiral, and all he can do is watch on helplessly, for it is beyond his power to save him.
WWX kept so much from JC. He sided with the sect that almost wiped out his own and then goes on to inadvertently kill his brother in law. How do you think that must have looked to JC? How JC must have felt?? Let's be real here and look at things from his pov. Because I feel as though some of yall are failing to do so.
To JC, WWX had become unhinged and out of control. But even after the death of JZX, JC still seemed to desperately hold onto hope for his brother. He exclaims when he's holding his dying sister in his arms, "I thought you said you could control it?!"
That says to me that JC had faith in his brother that he could fix all this up until JYL was caught up in it all.
If you look at things from JC's pov, you'll see how bad things looked for WWX. How culpable he appeared throughout it all. And when you take that into consideration and realise that JC doesn't have all the information we as the reader are privileged to have, we can easily see why he came to such a conclusion.
It was either WWX or the lives of hundreds in his sect. JC chose to protect the many. And that doesn't make him a terrible person. Nor does it make him a terrible brother. He did all he could for WWX. But to him, WWX had made his bed, and so he should lay in it.

saw a post about how jiang cheng isn't selfish because he's done all of this stuff for his loved ones and it's like yeah. jiang cheng loves very deeply and that's. exactly why he's selfish. jiang cheng being selfish doesn't equal jiang cheng being heartless or unloving. his goals are to selfishly keep his loved ones, most notably wei wuxian, to himself at the expense of their own personal autonomy. when jiang cheng goes to the burial mounds and begs wei wuxian to give the wen remnants up and come home, he does it because he loves him, but he also does it because he's a selfish coward who puts his own wants for wei wuxians safety and companionship above wei wuxians personal wishes and the lives of the wens. these things are not mutually exclusive in fact they are intricately connected

Also on the subject of Mochijun and master/servant relationships, I remember seeing MDZS takes a few times that draw on the idea that Jiang Cheng wanting Wei Wuxian to be his right hand man (and therefore arguably subservient) their whole lives means he looked down on him, and I just. I read Pandora Hearts at a formative age and fictional master/servant relationships have been irreparably romanticized in my brain forever now. Sorry if the same thing didn't happen to you.
Even if Wei Wuxian did end up as Jiang Cheng's right hand man and/or servant, I know it would've turned into a "you work for me, so that means it's my job to protect and be devoted to you" type deal. A mutual obsessive devotion in which the power dynamics have become a bizarre web. Or at least that's what JC dreamt of. You read enough Mochijun manga at age 14/15 and those dynamics just come naturally to you.

Seeing people call jc an incel will always confuse me because like.... do they understand what being an incel means?
---
Incels despise women because they think they owe them sex and consider themselves too ugly and inferior to be pursued by the opposite sex.
---
Jc has never shown any desire to be with the opposite sex. He reads as being ace if anything. He's always been repulsed by the notion of love, romance and pdas and has never once proclaimed that women owe him sex. He doesn't seem interested in pursuing women at all, nor does he blame women for the worlds problems or treat them with disrespect. He blames most of the problems on wwx. He's wwx-ist if anything XD (jk).
---
Honestly, I'd say he's voluntarily celibate. He could realistically get any girl he wants and knows it, but he simply doesn't choose to. I honestly don't think he has any interest in getting wed tbh.
---
As for the marriage requirements, loads of men had those at that time and honestly, they weren't that unrealistic. Plus, I'm pretty sure they were never a main part of the text and just a joke mxtx came up with as to why he's still single. I find it infeasible that a handsome, powerful, rich man like him is single when arranged marriages exist in that universe, as seen with jfm and madame yu. A woman hating, incel would no doubt use that to their advantage and force marriage on any women they desire. Jc has the ability to do that giving his status and yet he doesn't. He doesn't even seek out comfort from women in brothels. Therefore, I can't see him having a hatred and disrespect for women when this notion also exists.
---
Incels also have zero respect for women in general including the ones in their lives. Their hatred often starts with their own mothers in fact. Jc obviously doesn't hate his mother or his sister. He cares deeply for them, in fact. Why else would he mourn them and be willing to stick up for his sister whenever people bad mouth her if he was a vile woman hater?
---
Idk I just think the incel claims are completely baseless. He is not angry and displeased because he is alone and single nor is he angry at women. His anger is all solely on wwx, the wens and dc in the book. It has never been towards women.

Love how major Jiang Cheng ships are just highly oedipal or highly electra. Like he was crushing on Wen Qing who’s as severe and direct as Yu Ziyuan and then there’s his biggest ship with Lan Xichen who’s as pleasant and polite as Jiang Fengmian. A good chunk of us can agree that Jiang Cheng has some kinda mommy/daddy issues at all times.
