I know people are a bit underwhelmed by the Avatrice Bed Scene script but Simon did say it wasn’t anything major. Just a scene of them waking up in the morning. 😊

Here are some points I found nice:

- AVATRICE SHARING A BED (Even though we all knew this, but it’s nice to have confirmation)

- Bea being an early bird, staring at the ceiling as she lays there next to Ava

- Bea taking a moment to look at a sleeping Ava 🥰

- Bea could’ve gotten up but she stayed laying in bed just to wait for Ava to wake up 🥹

- Ava dragging herself out of bed (obviously not an early bird)

- Ava commenting about how the church could’ve given them a better apartment to live in (even though we know she secretly loves that lil’ apartment)

- Ava cursing and Bea being too tired to scold her for it but does it anyway and saying the word “ass” in the process

- Bea teasing Ava about the upcoming training

All in all, I still loved it. It had me looking forward to something Warrior Nun related and I’ve missed that feeling. Having to try and save a show can take a bit of a toll. So, thank you Simon! I’m looking forward to more WN goodies. ❤️

"That's understandable," Spoiler responds. "Crime fighting is hungry work."

The thing about Steph, is that a lot of people underestimate her. Even other bats, who should really know better, seem to do it all the time. Duke privately thinks that its because she's funny and upbeat that people will just let her fade into the background as a dumb blonde.

People do this to Duke sometimes, other heroes, other bats, they'll just let him become white noise.

He wears bright yellow for fuck's sake.

Unfortunately for this Steph, future Steph and Duke spend a lot of hours together, and he knows what she's like when she is on the hunt.

Duke knows the protocols for time travel, he knows the protocols for dimension travel. Duke also knows that he's tired and starving and going to have to track down whatever Turbo Emo version of Batman is out there.

"The future."

"Weird name for a noodle place," Spoiler mutters, the lenses in her mask drawing in together.

"Not a noodle place," Duke belatedly realizing that he just completely blurted that out. "The answer to your question."

Spoiler crosses her arms.

"The question was about noodle places."

"The other question," Duke gestures vaguely at Spoilers brain, because that was so helpful wasn't it. "The one you didn't ask."

"Oh," Spoiler says about as lamely as Duke feels right about now. "OH! Damnit I was betting on dimension travel."

Duke raises an eyebrow under his helmet.

"Dimension travel?"

"Yeah like maybe you're a happy universe' Batman," Spoiler says, her body language loosening into typical Steph. "Or wait..."

Spoiler gasps, leaning into whisper: "Are you Evil Batman?"

Duke barely doesn't burst out laughing.

Barely.

"Like do you bring presents and joy?" Spoiler continues, conspiratorially.

Duke breaks into helpless giggles.

"Santa?" Duke practically shouts through his laughter. "Evil Batman to you is Santa??"

"Am I Wrong????"

Duke laughs even harder. Spoiler politely gives him time to collect himself.

"I've met both and so I can tell you, yes."

"Wait, wait hold on," Spoiler waves her hands as if to dispel the previous conversation. "Santa is real?"

"Yes," Duke says gravely.

"Wow," Spoiler blinks blankly at the sky for a couple seconds. "That is going to need a lot of processing."

"I think crises are best had over noodles don't you think?"

Steph's head whips back around.

I'm just making a general statement that isn't meant to come across as rude, aggressive, or to make anyone feel singled out/attacked, but please heed the pronouns someone may have listed on their blog. They're there for a reason.

I know earlier today @souliebird made a brief post announcing their pronouns which have always been listed on their blog. It was never a secret. They were not trying to call anyone out, hurt anyone's feelings, or asking for apologies. It was just a polite request to be referred to properly and a clarification for those who may not have looked at their blog and saw that. It was getting upsetting for them to be misgendered and instead of needing to correct multiple people, they figured they'd make a single post to make it more widely known. It wasn't meant for anything other than that, so please do not feel the need to make apologies or make it anything other than what it was. Some of the attention from a simple ask to have pronouns respected has been overwhelming and not necessarily friendly.

I know this community is full of wonderful people so I'm hoping y'all will be respectful and not rude. We're all here to connect over the same fandom and to have an escape from reality, so please be kind and think before you speak. If you've misgendered someone, just please correct yourself in the future, that's all that is being asked.

Obi-Wan getting jokingly called the "Council baby" in fics brings me so much joy. They recall when he was a feral, traumatised kid who would constantly get into trouble (though not much has changed there.....). Yoda has padawan photos. After Obi-Wan fucked up on a mission and landed himself in medbay, Yoda probably forwarded them to the rest of the council as punishment for getting hurt. Obi-Wan is STILL mad about it.

like i see people say stuff like “rei is a deconstruction of the idea of like the perfect girl in a male gaze-y way” and and i'm ready to agree until they go “it’s because she’s creepy and weird and bad!” like no. rei's a deconstruction of misogynistic ideas of womanhood because they’re ideals forced upon her that damage her, not because she’s in any way “creepy”. like, the fact she’s a fourteen year old girl who was basically used as a substitute wife by her father bc she looked like his own dead wife is not something that is meant to make rei look bad like holy shit.

Something has been weighing on my mind since I've been reading PJO and now HOO.

The girls are not girl's girls.

Even Annabeth, I would argue, is not a girl's girl, like, as much as I want her to be, she isn't. She's jealous, and she has said rude and snippy things about other girls.

The only girl's girls that I can think of are Silena and believe it or not, Clarisse.

I'm not saying that every female character needs to be a girl's girl. I'm saying that I prefer to see women in the media I consume to be upbuilding and kind to other women.

It just rubs me the wrong way, like girls can only be out for themselves and have to be at war with every other female person.

Also, and I know for sure my view is skewed on this, but these girls seem WAYYY to focused on boys. Like maybe I just hate men but I'm always looking for opportunities to be friends with or be around girls. Boys suck (usually) and I have literally no desire to spend time with them. Why are these girls constantly thinking about boys? I definitely didn't word this in the best way but I'm tired and angry. Maybe this is a me problem but I don't like my cool young adult fantasy being adulterated so often with this nasty "romance" crap. Can we please stop talking about Jason's eyes? I need you to focus Piper. I also need you to not be so quick to judge women.

Without giving spoilers, can someone please tell me it gets better? Does Piper stop being written like this? Every chapter I have to read from her point of view is excruciating.

Also, I don't mean to be putting out any hate for Annabeth. She may not be my favorite character, but I do actually like her. Some of her traits are a little annoying, and I do feel like I don't know a lot about her, but I don't mean any hate. I think Rick just tends to be better at writing his male characters better than his female ones.

Beginners/New Players are being discouraged due to the sheer aggressive nature of the game now more than before

Connection issues, especially at inopportune times such as winning games or Splatfest 100xs, etc

I'm gonna sound a bit bitter for a sec so sorry for that, but i think the reason i can't get into most fyolai fics and such, in addition to a lot of ppl just straight up getting nikolai wrong as a character, is the flattening of their relationship in general and making it almost basic? or rather, i guess, just simplifying it, making it almost one sided at times

basically what i see people interpret them beyond what's in plain text is 1 nikolai is the only person to call fyodor a friend, thus making him stand out in his mind, and 2 they're both the same brand of weird/got the same quirks or sense of humor etc

which are both well and true imo. but my problem is, this is where it stops. this is what i mean by simplifying. it feels like it's only engaging with the tip of the iceberg of what they got going on, and it's a shame because their relationship can be so spicy

i think what makes fyolai interesting - in addition to the whole "i love him and that's why i want to kill him, i can't bear the thought of being tied to a person" - is that while fyodor is the first person to see nikolai, nikolai is the first person to outsmart fyodor

it almost feels like the reason people make fyodor like nikolai is for the sake of making a story about them happen and that's it. now, it's a romantic(?) fanfic, that's understandable, that's how most of them start. but it does feel unearned and at times even out of nowhere and pointless

nikolai is the first person to show fyodor that humans aren't as predictable as he thinks. that yes, he could read him, but not fully, not enough to actually manipulate him. that his method of cutting off all other possibilities is not perfect, and that at least nikolai will always get himself a way out. that's huge!! we've never seen anyone outsmart fyodor! the closest we got was whatever he's got going on with dazai, and he seems to be prepared for everything dazai throws at him anyway bc they're so equal. but honest to god going outside of his plan? ruining his plan, even? nikolai is the only one who could do it.

think about how that can impact fyodor's character! his world view! a blow to his pride that might actually change him as a person! this can be so interesting!!!!

i feel like this ship should be more about that. about how they're each other's special person - not because of titles of friendship, but because they truly challenge the way the other sees life

now, i will say, i don't expect fic writers to delve this deep into each character. it's just a hobby at the end of the day. let me emphasize, this post isn't to actually attack anyone, more like an observation with some bitterness about something i am well aware does not actually matter, bc i want to let it out and maybe change the way people see this ship if they agree. so i hope i made you see it this way, just like fyodor might show nikolai he's not as alone in the world as he might want to be, and nikolai can show him the same in return uwu

sometimes it hits me that cesare and juan are literally the definition of 'doomed by the narratives' siblings. there's just something about their tragic brotherhood that will always be stuck in my mind.

both brothers have grown apart into two essentially different people. they resent the fact that they're not the same ones they knew when they were young and faced the same struggles. the tension between them has turned sour, and it's no longer just an innocent, typical sibling rivalry. their father pitted them against each other, causing juan to be envied by cesare, even though they should have never been placed in opposition. they both feel like the other one is the center of their father's attention and love, but no matter what they do, it's not recognized. they alternate between lashing out at each other and clinging to each other, torn between being bitter at each other and missing each other. the vicious cycle that their father trapped them in made both brothers feel insecure and not good enough for him, which ultimately led to juan's murder just when he tried to mend his doomed brotherhood with cesare through physical closeness, hoping to be brothers again like they used to be. cesare and juan's relationship is characterized by both love and conflict. they were victims of their father's manipulations, as he used them as pawns in his own chess game, tearing them apart. fate didn't allow them to be together in harmony. if only there were another life where their father didn't trap them in forced assigned roles, cesare would still have loved juan, and they would've remained brothers in arms.
