Hello, if you've never seen this blog before - I write up posts as I go along translating the web novel for myself. For now, I'm working on arc 9/soon to be V10 of the LN.

I translate the entire chapters, so be warned, as I go through telling you all that happens.

The chapters divided by “|” are parts that link directly together. I'll usually provide the titles I get in the post, but since not all of them translate as well for me, I'll omit them from the masterlist for now.

I'm probably going to use three symbols:

💭 is for chapters that involve Maomao and Jinshi interacting

📍 is saved in case there should be any triggers - which I'll detail in the chapter posts

🃏 is for a change in narrator

For now I don't have a proper update schedule. I'll usually post once a day, if not then I'm probably working on a string of chapters that are tied together, or the chapter and I have some communication issues.

Introduction

I originally had this intro in chapter 1, but since I'm getting things done quite quickly, we're here.

I picked this up because, like many, I would likely never hear the end of this story, if I kept waiting for the LN translations to get up to date. Out of sight out of mind is a real issue.. but I love the story, plus I've translated some bits and pieces before - so, I chose to not stick my head in the sand while all the content is right there.

I'm pretty transparent if I don't know something, this is all just for fun and a learning curve while trying the best I can. My main perk is that I can translate to both english and german, which is pretty much what I'm doing to try and raise accuracy.

Please note that there are differences between the Web Novel vs the finished Light Novels. I chose to go with the WN, so that the actual finished LN's remain exciting - it's also why I don't share the art that's out there.

So I have a question.

First of all, since I don’t quite feel like going through all of your posts for one detail, what’s FPKs spiritual status or whatever? Has he regressed in part? If he’s still a god have his domains/aspects shifted with the feralisation?

Secondly, what of the rest of Hallownests pantheon (Not the Godseeker pantheons I mean the remaining higher beings of Hallownest, and I suppose the more special creatures like Bardoon since otherwise that’s a really short list)? How are their relations with FPK? Have they even met again? Do they even know he lives?

But to add something to my answer that I either came up with later or just didn't mention in the other posts (it will be long so I'll put the divider here)

As I mentioned in one of the posts, the gods generally inhabit their own areas. They are not omnipotent, which makes sense, since they are more like guides than creators. This means that certain areas develop cultures and terms that are somewhat exclusive to the region, and an example of such is the term "Dream Realm", which is only really used by the inhabitants of the Hallownest territory (the reason for which I'll explain later). Another interesting result of such scenario is that many mortals travel between countries and kingdoms in order to reach their gods and seek their guidance. I think it would add a pretty fascinating element to their world, one that is not actually that far-fetched from canon, as the Godseeker traveled in search of other gods after the ones of their homeland perished.

There are two distinct "categories" of gods in the AU: the old gods and the new gods, and most of the higher beings we know belong to the latter. The old gods were more like what you picture when you think of a god: a powerful being you devote yourself to, but one you cannot see or touch. This was the old way of the gods, though these days it's very much a thing of the past - most of them choose to create a physical form to walk among the mortals and interact with them, some even blend into their world to the point where it's not as easy to tell that they are in fact gods. Many of them care not for worship, and instead prefer to have a more personal connection with the mortals. A notable exception was The Radiance - she was obsessed with the old gods and their way of life, she refused to create a physical form, and drew most of her power from the worship given to her. This earned her the nickname Grimm would often use mockingly - The Old Light. Though for the longest time, she actually flourished. Worshipping her was the main "religion" of the Hallownest territory for quite some time, and the Moth tribe that she created served as a way for mortals to communicate with her. This was done through their dreams, which eventually coined the phrase "The Dream Realm", first to refer to The Radiance's domain, though over time it became the main term to use for other god realms, even if they were not related to the concept of dreams. But with time, the new way of gods overshadowed her rule, and eventually the mortals turned away from The Radiance, instead devoting themselves to higher beings they could see and interact with.

This is where FPK came into the picture, as I mentioned before, he learned his powers and thus was not a real god, but in the eyes of mortals he was just as worthy of worship as any other higher being. At that point, The Radiance was already weak, and we know the rest of the story so I won't get into it now.

And since we're on the topic of FPK: before advanced civilization developed, the gods would instead guide the course of nature itself, which at that time was full of now prehistoric creatures. Giant, imposing beasts dominated the world, and wyrms were one of such species. But eventually that megafauna would slowly die off, passing the torch to smaller creatures and allowing them to evolve and develop (similarly to how the extinction of dinosaurs allowed small mammals to flourish). I like to think that this common ancestor was quite insect-like in its appearance, which is why those traits are quite commonly present in modern species (though they are notably not actual insects). Wyrm were the last of those gigantic species, due to their unusual ability to stop aging, which eventually led to intense cannibalism and their eventual extinction.

FPK was born in the very last generation of wyrms, when their numbers were already dwindling. He was a small, weak, leucistic wyrm, which inevitably made him an outcast for his species. After he matured and left his nest, he began hiding from his kind, as he knew he had no chance of fighting back. That is when he stumbled upon the lore tablets left by the gods. Soul magic was notably difficult to learn, and while there are mortals who know how to use it, their short lifespans mean that they die before they can reach its full potential. FPK was just the right creature to learn the magic and perfect it - he spent almost 200 years studying the tablets and developing his skills, and by the time he changed forms and created the kingdom, he already reached levels of power comparable to that of the gods (though he still lacked a lot of their abilities that he was not able to learn with soul, which I mentioned in one of the linked posts).

But since his power was learned, not natural to him, it was inherently linked to his mind, his memory, and his experiences. And as he fell into hibernation, his oldest memories began to get slowly erased, which included the very basics of soul magic. This meant that, when he was woken up (thankfully before he lost most of his memories), he had no knowledge of how to utilize his powers, and thus was not able to sustain himself with soul (I recommend this post for more details on the importance of this ability in particular for him, as well as his feral nature). While it is technically possible for him to re-learn those basics and become powerful again, he chooses not to for personal reasons - he became too dependent on it, to the point where he was starving himself, and he generally associates it with the worst moments of his life.

So after hibernation, he is pretty much exactly the way he was in his childhood, though obviously in a different physical form. He doesn't age (which was a trait Hornet inherited from him), but aside from that, he doesn't know any magic.

I'll return to the topic of other gods, to give some more details on them and their relation to FPK. The list, as you pointed out, is not particularly long, but with the previous context I think it makes sense.

First, there's The Radiance and The Nightmare (now known as The Nightmare King/Grimm), the two siblings and the children of The Dream Lord (name is subject to change since I haven't sat down to create a design for him yet), who is now dead as noted in one of the linked posts. I won't go into too much detail on what their domains and responsibilities are, refer back to the posts I linked.

Then there is The White Lady. I mentioned that I imagine she would be the god of fertility, and perhaps she would also watch over the flora of the region. She would be the god to seek in topics related to fertility or crops, I imagine.

Quite related to WL's domain is Unn, who watches over the wilderness, particularly the fauna (though she is also responsible for the vegetation of the region, which is where she clashes with WL). She is one of the few gods of the region who actually created her own followers, though she is always welcoming to any mortal who seeks her aid.

Lastly, there is The Shade Lord, a unique higher formed from void itself, which does not have a domain of its own. Instead, it stood opposed to The Dream Lord - balancing the hopeful dreams with chaos and doubts. But it became dangerous, and so The Dream Lord sacrificed himself to seal it away in the Abyss (Ghost united the void one last time to defeat The Radiance, but The Shade Lord as it was known once is gone).

Now, there is also the possibility of there being other gods, which were never encountered by Ghost. For instance, the hot springs imply the existence of possible volcanic activity in the region, so perhaps there is a god whose domain connects to fire and heat? Perhaps they could serve a similar role to Hephaestus in Greek mythology, and be the guide to all the blacksmiths of the region?

There may also be a god related to Lifeblood, I think there is an implication that it comes from a higher being like source. They could be the god you seek in matters related to health and vitality. But then again, Lifeblood itself is so strange that it may as well just be some kind of drug hahaha

And again, FPK was never part of that pantheon of gods, The Radiance notably considered him a fraud and rejected him. But the other gods, which are much closer to the mortals, were more open to welcoming him among their kind. His marriage to WL earned him the title of a Pale Being, and while he was not able to become part of the matters of gods (his inability to enter The Higher Plane was the biggest factor here), he was still considered a god by all the mortals.

He did meet with WL after coming back, though as I mentioned before, since they divorced, he only rarely pays her visits - their new lives are almost completely separate. Unn was definitely aware of his return, after all, he frequently hunts in her territory. She definitely watched him closely to ensure he wasn't overhunting the animal population, but since he only does that to satisfy his hunger, she never had to intervene. The Radiance is dead, and Grimm is married to him so not much to add here.

Also, since you mentioned Bardoon. I think his species may be a quite recent descendant of one of those prehistoric beasts, which would explain his size and knowledge of wyrms. So he's definitely in the same category that FPK was in when he was born.

This turned out really long, but I hope it's a satisfying answer. Again, I definitely recommend checking out the posts I linked, as well as scrolling through the #save tag (especially if you want to learn more about the more personal aspects of the characters). I tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, but again, the AU is not a serious writing project, I definitely make it up as I go, so there is a chance that some things don't quite add up or are a bit convoluted. @decafeined-moth was having some issues working out how to post on AO3, so I thought "hey, why not make a step-by-step post dedicated to this, this way it can help other people too?" So here's the

Guide On How To Post On AO3 For Noobs

First, keep in mind that 1) AO3 is a website with a lot of functionnalities and it's normal that it seems a bit intimidating. Thankfully, you can just plain ignore some of them, and only use them when you've learned what they mean! 2) If you need any more information about what some options mean, you can click on the small blue question mark! They provide information that is imo pretty helpful. Or you can ask me, I'd gladly answer any questions you have! And 3) All of the information that we're gonna fill out now is modifiable later. So if you make a mistake or you realise something doesn't fit, don't stress!

So, for starters, you're gonna need to have your first chapter already written out before creating the work. Well, you can technically write it on the website itself, but the page might reload and you'd then lose everything. So rather use google docs, or the notes on your phone, or emails, or anything of that nature.

You also need an AO3 account to post, i'll try to link another post regarding this particular matter.

First step: Go on the top of the website, and click on "post" -> "new work"

Second step: The tags

"Not rated" and "Choose not to use archive warnings" are basically the default for rating and archive warning, essentially the "i don't know". You should try to tweak them as soon as you understand what they stand for, but it isn't necessary.

"fandoms" is a very important one. You're gonna enter the name of your fandom. It could be Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, Hermitcraft, RPF (Real People Fiction), and a whole ton of other fandoms. Chances are if it's a book or movie or even youtube series, there already are works for it. If you don't know how your fandom is called, use the search function on AO3 and it'll probably come back with SOMETHING.

Categories: Is there a main romantic relationship between two characters in your work? If yes, then select the kind: Female/Female relationship, Female/Male, Male/Male. Or select "Gen" if it isn't the case, it means General.

Relationships: relationships in your work. They're either 1)Romantic relationships, separated by a slash (Blorbo/Shitto) 2)Platonic relationships, separated by a "and" (Borbo & Shitto). I am unsure of where Queerplatonic relationships stand in regards to this. Do not type in ship names (ex: reylo, destiel,...)

Characters: names of characters that appear in your work. This category auto fills as well. It's usually not considered very polite to put in characters that are only briefly mentionned in a throwaway line in your work, however it's perfectly fine if you intend to mention them more later. It's alright to tag them if they briefly appear, or if they're thought about for a big portion of it. Basically, if you could cut them out and nothing changes, maybe don't tag them.

Additional tags: You can basically enter whatever information you want to inform your reader of that didn't fit in the previous categories there. Ex: Fluff, angst, hurt no comfort, Protective Shitto, carrots, Time-travel, Established blorbo/shitto & any additional comment you want to add, like "i wrote that at 3am". People sometimes add in whether the work has been beta'ed or not with "no beta we die like men" or fandom-specific "we die like [name]" (ex: We die like Kenny, We die like Scar, We die like Ice Pick Joe), but it is by no means necessary

You're gonna have to add a work title and a summary of your fic. Summaries can be a lot of stuff including an extract from your fic, an actual summary, a series of open-ended questions made for the reader to want to find out what it's about,... Be creative with it!

Finally, you can check or uncheck the "notes" boxes to add author notes!

Now we're getting into the complicated/superfluous part. Thankfully you can just ignore most of it! You may learn what it means later, or not, but it does offer some great additional options!

We need to focus on this part tho:

Ignore the "set a different publication date".

If your work is gonna have multiple chapters, you should check the "this work is gonna have multiple chapters". Then you should enter the number of chapters. You don't have to name the first chapter if you don't want to, if you leave it blank it will simply show as "Chapter 1"

You need to choose a work language

You may now finally enter your first chapter/the text of your one-shot!

The website works with html, which means that to make some text italicised or bold you gonna need to enter a special set of characters before and after. You can find some explanations online very easily. Or, it also work in rich text, it switches to it if you click the "rich text" button.

We're finally done! You can then click on "preview" if you want to check the formatting, or "post" it directly!

Welcome to my main blog which I like to define as chaos

After the "read more" you'll find quite a lot of information, my other blogs, fandoms I write about and/or reblog content from, and a bit more, but before that I want to make one thing clear

I like to debate a lot, and from time to time I might get into a discussion about a social issue, I like this topic a lot, I'm quite interested in learning to see things from different perspectives, I feel that helps me in my mission called "creating a society in my head where nobody suffers".

That's why I possibly read quite questionable comments, and I'm able to put up with almost anything, there's only one rule: You're not going to attack/insult anyone. Especially someone else. If I see something like that in any post of mine, I'm going to block you. That's possibly the only condition under which I plan to directly block someone (that and bots).

WIP Telephone: "Spooky"

if you don't want to see what might become an increasingly long tumblr post, feel free to block the tag "WIP telephone." (i'll also be tagging it "long post," just in case. don't want to clog up people's dashes.)

when i logged on this morning and opined what to do with all the WIPs i know i'll never finish, it was brilliantly suggested that i offer some of them up to be collaboratively worked on by my pals here on tumblr. it's intended to be a tag game, of sorts, with each person adding maybe a hundred words (obviously, since my WIPs are all more than a hundred words, my starting excerpts are going to be… a bit longer than that, oops; and feel free to add more than that, if you feel like doing so) and then tagging someone else to add more, and so on, etc. etc.

if it's fun and anyone's interested, i'll do more, but i thought i'd start with something... 🍂 seasonally appropriate. 🍂 i'll be sharing additions as they come along!

She hadn’t meant to say it.

“I’m not sleeping in here without you.”

In all honesty, she’s perfectly capable of sleeping on her own in a strange place; she’s done it plenty of times before. Living with the Doctor means getting used to sleeping in unusual spots. Hospital gurneys. Motel rooms in the far future where the beds float. Under ballroom tables, though that was just the once, and she’d had a lot to drink. The occasional jail cell.

Needless to say, she’s well acquainted with catnaps in odd places.

Only “odd” isn’t really the same as “haunted.”

And this place—wherever they are—is definitely haunted.

No matter what the Doctor says.

"Spooky," she decreed as they trudged up the damp path toward the house on the hill. "Think it's haunted?"

"There's no such thing," he insisted. The Doctor rolled his eyes in clear scepticism, but they both knew there was some reason the TARDIS landed them there.

Entering through the unlocked door, they set about taking readings of the entrance hall and cramped lower rooms, all covered in dark wood and heavy tapestries. The decor was decidedly out of date, like something from a period film. No modern lighting, no electrical outlets to speak of.

But though the place had something unsettling about it, it also seemed decidedly empty.

“This house is old,” the Doctor said, eyes intent, scanning over the low ceilings. “A few hundred years, I’d say. Maybe more."

When Rose wandered to the hearth, his supposition was confirmed by two small, framed sketches: two different women, their hair pulled back in artful ringlets and their faces set in gentle Mona Lisa smiles. One was dark and the other fair. And there were no names.

They were both dated 1781.

Before she could point them out, the Doctor was already running up the main staircase, rattling off jargon that she couldn’t even begin to understand—nonsense about atmospheric pressure and residual readings of… something—his voice too-loud in the stillness of the house.

She trailed after him, only sort of half-listening. But as she turned the corner back into the hall, the whole place rumbled—and thumped, a sound like stones grinding against the bottom of a ship. The floorboards shook perilously under her feet, and she reached out on instinct, steadying herself against the base of the bannister.

“Doctor?"

The Doctor, of course, didn't so much as move. He remained stopped about halfway up the stairs, effortlessly balanced despite the unstable terrain. His head cocked and a half-smile on his lips, he said, "That wasn't a quake."

Of course not.

"What was it, then?"

His smile spread, becoming a full, face-overtaking, slightly manic sort of expression. "I have no idea."

To her very great alarm, he sounded delighted.

"Don't tell me you're scared, Rose," the Doctor laughs, sending the torchlight juddering through the darkness. "Look, it's cosy!"

"I'm not scared," she insists. "It's just—"

"Yes, spooky." It's a little too dim to tell, but she's pretty certain he's rolling his eyes. "So you've said."

He'd picked her room for the night seemingly at random, nudging open doors until he found one with a suitable bed. And in the faint light, the bedroom does seem—nice. Less haunting, maybe, than the rest of the house. But still… off, somehow, in a way she can't quite put her finger on.

As she steps around him, careful not to cut off the wavering beam of the torch, she peers around, making note of all she can see: the crisp linens, the intricately carved wooden bed posts, the glint of polished glass—an oil lamp, she realises.

Something catches at the back of her mind, and she turns toward the Doctor with a frown already creeping over her face. "It's all sort of… clean, isn't it?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, it's not musty or anything in here." Gesturing at the bed, she waits for the torch to illuminate the bedspread; startlingly, the coverlet is tucked down, as if someone had only just recently got in or out. Though, perhaps not. Maybe the last occupant of the house just really went in for turn-down service.

But then, she sees it, on the pillow…

She ducks down, looking closer at the little shadow against the pale linens. A faint waft of something carries up to her nose, and it takes her a moment to register just what it is: floral, reminding her faintly of Mickey's Gran.

"Lavender," she murmurs, thumbing over the little bundle of flowers, held together by faded ribbon. "It's fresh."

With a click, the torch light blinks out, and for an instant, she is overtaken by unstoppable, irrational fear. The Doctor is in the room with her, and as he's reminded her several times tonight, they've swept the whole house, searched every nook and cranny: there's nobody here.

But the wind howling outside the window, the faint blueness of the night, and the whisper of dry, bare tree branches scraping together all press in around her, thick as shadow, making her skin crawl and her breath catch.

The prospect of passing a whole night like this, alone with the dark and whatever lurks inside it, is almost too much to bear.

So, fine. She is a little bit scared.

Then there's a rustle, a scrape, a hiss, and then a match blooms with fire, lighting the sharp lines of the Doctor's face from below. He's grinning as he lowers the match to light the oil lamp.

"You're right," he says pleasantly. "This is spooky."

i sure can thank u for asking! i'll try to make it a bit more brief but under my top 4 i'll add a readmore with a longer list in case u wana read that and not the like. Odysseys Blood Introductory Game Pack.

so starting with the top picks:

1. The World Ends With You

i think a lot of people have a similar feeling about this game. you play as neku, recently deceased kid with no memories no friends and a whole lot of attitude and your main goal is to survive the reaper's game for 7 days to get a chance at living again. he trusts no one and believes in nothing but himself and being an extremely depressed middle schooler, i related to him but watching the way he changes over time and learns to open himself up. its kind of an eye-opener and i've seen the same though echoed through a lot of different people like me who wanted to really give up but this game does take you by the hand and oush you to try again. make connections. live and whileit may be a struggle its alright because you always have the option to keep going. also the ost is AMAZING and the art style is very unique and the story and characters captivate you so well. idk where id be without this game honestly. preferably if you do want to play its best to play the og on a ds (can be done w/ a hacked one) but if not its on switch and theres a sequel! which is ok but its not as great as original twewy

2. Tales of the Abyss

ToA (or tota as most ppl tag it but i stick with toa to match the tags for other tales games. which are also good esp vesperia i just wont add it to this list bc its already gonna be a long one). what stood out to me a lot with this game besides the main cast who i love to bits, is its theme on religion actually. when i first played toa i was still in the church and the main theme of religion in toa can be boiled down to devotion is all fine and good, but don't let it rule your life. the fate that is written out for you doesn't rule you, you make your own choices. even if they seem futile, you still don't have to take your fate sitting down you can kick and scream and fight as much as you want towards another path if that truly is what you desire. and that resonated with me heavily. this one's a little more crunchy looking from its age but i still really like the graphics (and i played on 3ds lol) and the environments in tales games are all so stellar its such a good game. and oh my GOD the party interactions. tales games usually do really good at having main casts that are "6-8 people who have no business being stuck together but they are anyways" and i think the part for this one will always be my favorite. also last little bit but theres so much about identity in toa as well and the way the main character, luke, is written with his own struggles about feeling like his own person has gripped me to this day. ive heard this one is hard to find a physical copy of but like. again shoot me a message if u have a hacked 3ds

3. AI: The Somnium Files

i've been here since day ONE (not exactly but theres a youtube page for one of the characters they were using to drop some info before the game released and i was watching while that was still going so. close enough). i am obsessed with aitsf. my icon is even the main character (edited a bit and w/ stickers). this game doesn't have combat like the first to and is strictly a visual novel and i adore the way it explores the central theme of love, especially familial love and its many shapes and forms and how sometimes even through blood it just doesnt. exist. but that doesnt mean you dont deserve love. someone will be there to give it to you and if not you take it however you can. this is much more apparent in the left half of the game which to this day has made the mizuki route my favorite. this one's eveywhere (playstation, steam, switch) and goes on sale frequently on steam for like $7. this one also has a sequel which is pretty good but again i think the original is much better

4. Heaven Will Be Mine

honestly with how many people i see daily gushing over poetry and writing im surprised more dont play hwbm. its a space mecha visual novel set in the aftermath of a war where earth sent children to go fight an existential threat which may not have even existed and now all of those kids are adults who have grown up without the shackles of society on the earth which js funny enough, finally calling for them to come back. the writing is beautiful and fun to pick apart and if you're a fan of prose i definitely think you should give this one a try. double of you're lgbt in any way this game is good for its writing about queerness especially if you're trans. please play hwbm. this one's on steam and doesnt have a sequel game but the devs, worst girl games, also made We Know The Devil which i like less than hwbm but its still pretty good! that ones got gay religious trauma

continuing is just a list of more i like in no specific order. some of these may be a bit cringey but i like fun

Witch's Heart

listen i know theres some strange bias some ppl have gainst rpgmaker pixel games but like. 1) odd but ok 2) witch's heart is such a beatiful story i need you to throw whatever biases you may have abt pixel games RIGHT NOW. my header text comes from this game. it means everything to me. do you have a wish you would kill for? does your wish mean more to you than another's? how much will you let your selfishness control you. for a game that looks so silly it made me cry a lot. this one's free on vgperson's translated game list and theres still MORE BEING MADE. SO MUCH GAME. FOR FREE. LOOK AT ME. ITS FREE. and heartwrenching.

To The Moon/Finding Paradise/ Impostor Factory

this description is short but similarly a pixel game like the previous rec. its more understandably heavy considering you play as eva and neil who fulfill the wishes of the dying in their dreams. its sad. i cried. i cry a lot dont i? these r on steam

Just Shapes and Beats

a rhythm game this time! it's got a cute little story mode but it is just a dubstep rhythm bullet hell i like playing. did you know i was a dubstep fan in middle school well now you do and im sad skrillex is mid now. its on steam and switch. not a good pick however if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have epilepsy im sorry. i believe there are safe modes but i havent tested them myself to see how well they work

Paranormasight

paranormasight is a horror visual novel illustrated by gen kobayashi who, if you can tell from the linework on the sprites and in the portraits and what have you, illustrated for twewy. i'll be real i was ready to screan and cry 30 minutes in but its not actually that scary im just a wimp. this one could be seen in a similar vein with witch's heart in the idea of: what would you do to fulfill your greatest wish. how many people would you kill. because you will be killing. on steam and switch.

Bustafellows

for being an otome bustafellows rly got me. while being an otome it is still plenty silly but heavy with fun characters. also i think this is the first time ive really liked an otome mc they tend to be very waify and kinda annoyingly written tbh but teuta is a VERY fun character and not at all a stand in for a self insert. or at least she isnt good at being a self insert which is fine to me because i love a main character that has their own personality. a guy dies like 10 minutes in. this ones on steam

Mamiya

i seem to like a lot of visual novel games with time loops and dead main characters and this is another one. very dark but i love it to bits. also this one requires a warning list i haven't seen anywhere but i made one myself here. its on steam

regarding your book troubles - don't read the book if its a triggering subject. see if google has any notes you could use to get the basic idea of what it's about. then you can go in and explain to the teacher that it's too triggering for you to read <3. also paranoia can be incredibly hard- i get that. something that helps when i'm having my bad days is to ground yourself with some of your favourite objects & remind yourself that those things aren't real, you're safe <3.

Yes, that, too. Give total freedom to your creativity, and don't worry about whether it's allowed or not. Most things are okay, barring anything inciting or glorifying harassment, hatred, or discrimination of any kind.

Do I have to post for all 7 days?

Participate as much or little as you like! Just be sure to tag your posts properly (e.g., #tbbaw2023 #dayX #character #warnings #prompts #medium #more tags). There are no repercussions if you don’t fill prompts for each day.

Can I post early/late?

You could, but I wouldn’t recommend posting early. Since this is an Appreciation Week event, it'd be more fun with everyone doing it at the same time. That being said, I’ll start reblogging works on September 2nd (thinking on the folks living on the other side of the world from me. You know, time zones and all that), but nothing earlier than that.

As for posting late, yes, that's totally fine; I understand that real life gets in the way sometimes. The only thing I ask is that you tag the for the day you should've posted on, not the day you're actually doing it. Example, if you missed Day 2 and are posting it on the Day 4, your tags must include #Day 2, NOT Day 4.

So, when should I start posting?

According to your time zone, during the day at the most convenient time for you, starting on September 3rd till the 9th. If you're super eager and can't wait, post when the clock hits midnight every day. Or if you're late, 11:59pm still counts as on time! 🤣

Will you reblog my post?

I'll do my best to reblog everyone's posts during the week. If it passes more than 2-3 days and I haven't reblogged your post, please let me know. If you tag your post properly and mention this blog, it’s less likely that I'll miss it.

However, I'm thinking that I might queue posts, so I don't drop them in bulk. If I do that, look for a like from @intrepidmare (my main blog), if you have it, that means I saw it and put it on the queue and eventually will be reblogged.

What if I don’t understand how to choose a prompt to work with?

Send me an ask! I'm happy to clarify it for you. But remember, the prompts are entirely up for interpretation. Don’t take them too literally. Prompts are suggestions, not mandates.

What kind of content can I make? Can it be NSFW?

Yes, that’s why NSFW prompts are included among the others for each day. And if you use the other safer prompts and turn it into something NSFW, that's okay too. In any case, you should tag your work accordingly, so that others participating in the event can curate their experience and be safe. HERE is a non-comprehensive list of tags you should use if they apply to your work.

Can I combine TBBAW prompts with other creation challenges?

Absolutely! If you have a bingo card to fill or another event to complete, go for it. That’s like shooting two mynocks with one bolt, using one of Crosshair's reflective disks!

Can I upload/repost my TBBAW content to other social media platforms?

Of course! You can post your own content wherever you like. Additionally, I’ve created an AO3 Collection to archive any work posted there. It can be accessed here.

If any of the prompts fits well for an existing fic/art I am currently working on, can I use it?

If you are actively working on this fic/art at the moment with the Appreciation Week prompts in mind, yes. In the case of using a work retroactively (meaning: already published and complete), then please, don’t. You can, however, add new chapters/pages/panels using one or more of the prompts.

For Day 7, what kind of characters can I create for?

You can create anything for canon characters that have made an appearance in the show or Original characters that interact with the Batch in your own universe/fic. Or simply do something for your favorite Batcher again.

If I’m not comfortable with this or that day’s prompts, can I use a prompt from a different day as a substitute and still count?

No, you can’t exchange prompts from different days (as in exchanging Day 3 prompts for Day 5 prompts). However, you come up with your own prompt, having the character of the day in mind. Also, there's also a short list of jokers/alternatives that you can use only one time each to replace any of the main prompts. There are 3 jokers in total (2 SFW + 1 NSFW), so that means you can replace up to 3 of the other prompts.

Where can I post my work?

Post where and how you want. You don’t have to cross-post it to Tumblr. Just keep in mind, if it’s not on Tumblr, I won't be able to add it to the blog archive. You can post a just link to anywhere else you've posted if you don't want to put the entire work in your blog.

Do I have to finish a fic I started? Can I post a work in progress?

Yes, you can post WIPs. And you’re not obligated to finish it. It'd make me happy that this event prompt you to create something longer. Let's appreciate the Bad Batch all year around!

Is co-creating allowed?

Yes, absolutely! Encouraged, even. Not just the usual writer-artist or co-writing collaborations, also any kind of medium combos: fic-podfic, fic-playlist, art-art, etc.

Do I have to create 7 standalone pieces, or can I make one continuous story?

Do whatever you want. One continuous story is fine. The challenge is to create something for 7 prompts. If that’s spread over 7 fics/art pieces/etc. or just one with 7 chapters/panels/parts, it's up to you.

Is there a min/max limit on word count?

None. If you want to write a 100-word drabble or a 50k fic or anything in between for each day, it's all up to you. You're the only one who knows how much time you can dedicate to it and how high/low your level of inspiration/energy is. You can even write a snippet for a fic you'll write later when you have the time/energy. Remember that this is lay-back-type of an event. Do as little or much as you want/can.

Can I combine prompts? Is there a limit on how many?

No limit, and you can combine as many prompts for a specific day as you like. If you want to use them all, do it.

If you want to use all the prompts individually, there's also the option to create several pieces for a single day. It depends on you, your time, and your motivation. This counts too if you do works in different mediums, e.g., write a fic and do art for it (or for a different prompt).

Can I start working on the prompts before September 3rd?

Of course! That’s the idea of posting the prompts so early. I know how difficult it can be to create something in “real time”, without mentioning real life complications, so feel free to start creating as soon as now!! You'll have over 3 months to work on your pieces.

How do I tag triggers?

Just tag the word/phrase, e.g., blood; main character death. (DO NOT add "tw" either at the beginning or the end. That makes it harder for readers to block the right tags). Here it's the list of the most common warning tags you should use when appropriate.

Also it would be prudent to add warnings in the body of the post, giving the readers another layer of protection before they do the actual reading.

Do I have to use your tags guidelines?

I'd appreciate it if you did. If you follow the guide I gave you in the tags post here, it'd make it easier for me to keep track of who posted on a determined day, and for anyone else to find and/or avoid the content of a specific tag.

"I'll drag them all down!"

[Pomefiore Dorm – Ballroom]

Vil: You're finally getting the basics. From here on out, we'll switch to one-on-one, more precise walking lessons.

Vil: I'll work with Silver. Jack, Rook will supervise you.

Jack: Eh, Rook-senpai? When did he get here…?

Vil: The success of the show is the main priority of this mission. That is why I have brought someone who has an eye I can trust.

Vil: Don't you dare slack off just because I am not watching you. I will not forgive you if you waste my Vice Dorm Leader's time.

Jack: Yessir! I'll definitely learn it all, at any cost!

Rook: Très bien! It's wonderful how motivated you are. Now, let's begin quickly!

Jack: Thank you!!

Jack: How was that, Rook-senpai?

Rook: Good. I can see that you are gaining confidence with every lesson. That was quite the dignified walk!

Rook: However, you are focused too heavily on your feet's movements that you're looking down. You need to raise your head and appeal to the audience.

Jack: A-Appeal to the audience? Even if you say somethin' like that, I ain't gonna get it at all.

Jack: If that's the case… I just gotta train harder until I get it! I'll do it one more time, so please tell me what you think!

Rook: No, let us take a break here.

Jack: A break? There’s no time to rest. I know… I know that I'm holding everyone else back.

Jack: I need to work harder than anyone else and do this fashion show performance, or else…

Jack: To both Leona-senpai, who believed I could do this, as well as Silver-senpai and Ortho, who'll be with me in the show, I'll just drag them all down!

Rook: Your enthusiasm is fantastic. However, it may be counterproductive if you push yourself too hard.

Jack: It'll be fine. I normally train this hard…

Vil: Listen to Rook's orders and take a rest, Jack.

Jack: Vil-senpai? Weren't you watching over Silver-senpai's practice…?

Vil: We are also breaking for the moment. Silver is outside grabbing a breath of fresh air.

Vil: I value your willingness to keep pushing, but that is also one of your main faults.

Vil: If you were to continue practicing to exhaustion and end up drained on the day of the gala, it will be extremely aggravating.

Jack: But…

Vil: Come to think of it… It's always been like this.

Vil: I told you not to practice for the marathon because there was a snowstorm outside, but you did not listen.

Vil: "It might snow during the actual marathon too, so this practice’ll prepare me for it!", you said. And in the end, you fell sick the day before the marathon. And then there was…

Jack: I-I get it! I'll take a break! So please don't tell any more embarrassing stories of when I was a kid.

Rook: Fufufu. Nice, Vil. You seem to know exactly what to do to calm Jack down.

Rook: But this is a great opportunity, since we're taking a break, why don't you tell us some more? I'd love to hear about both of your childhoods.

Jack: Uh… I mean, we only went to the same school for about a year or two. There's not much to tell.

Vil: Oh, really? There were plenty of entertaining stories, if I recall.

Vil: You would say, "I'm not interested in kid's games" and refuse to play tag with your friends. Instead, you'd just train your muscles.

Jack: Uh, I don't really remember that much, but… But wait, what's so funny about that?

Vil: Of course it's funny. To an outsider, that "muscle training" simply looked like "tree climbing," after all.

Rook: Oho, that sounds just like Jack-kun. Please, tell me more!

Jack: Urgh… Oh, I remember one. If it's about Vil-senpai…

Jack: This one time, we were playing all day in a huge snowstorm. You made a huge snow sculpture then, didn't you?

Vil: Ah… Yes, that did happen, didn't it? How nostalgic.

Rook: That's a charming memory. What did you make?

Vil: I made a throne that I could actually sit on. Of course, I also made sure to add all the proper embellishments to it.

Jack: Rook-senpai, he may be speaking of it so pridefully, but I was the one who made most of it.

Jack: You don't know just how much I suffered tryin’ to make all that freshly fallen snow hard enough to sit on...

Vil: Well, I concocted the design, didn't I? And of course, I helped with the decorations.

Rook: Hm, yet another story that sounds "just like" you two. I can clearly imagine it.

Jack: What else… Well, we also took extracurricular lessons on skiing and snowboarding at school together.

Vil: It was my first time, so I learned from Jack, who had experience with it.

Jack: Yeah, but you mastered it real quick, so I really only was able to help for a short while.

Vil: I'd been training my core, so it seems that I was already quite proficient in sports like skiing or snowboarding where you need that sense of balance.

Vil: …Similarly, I'd think someone like you who also trains his core should be able to master something simple like walking properly...

Vil: Rook, how do you think Jack is doing?

Rook: Yes, he's doing fantastically. His reflexes are top notch, and his hardworking spirit makes him quite malleable.

Rook: He's still struggling a bit, but with a little more practice, his walking should be flawless.

Rook: His facial expression is also quite stunning with how commanding and wild it is. I'm sure the faefolk will be mesmerized by it.

Jack: R-Really? It doesn't really feel like it…

Rook: Well, it is difficult to see your own improvements. In fact, you have been progressing quite well, Jack.

Rook: Actually. How about as a status report, you show Vil your walking?

Rook: I am sure that your actions will support my words.

Jack: Got it. Then, here I go.

Jack: …How was that?

Vil: Not bad. After a few more lessons, you may be able to join Silver to finish practicing with him.

Jack: You serious!? I mean, it's not like I think that you'd give empty compliments or anything…

Jack: And it felt like I was a bit more relaxed when walking this time than compared to before.

Jack: Maybe it was because we took a small breather that I was able to relax some tension…

Jack: Thank you, Rook-senpai.

Rook: No, no, thank you. I enjoyed hearing your fascinating stories.

Jack: Alright… I'll keep doing my best, and give you guys a show as good as Silver-senpai and Ortho would.

Jack: Please keep me going strong, both of you!

Luca and Malik

Still working on formatting! I was inspired by the lovely @lumpsbumpsandwhumps Red Room asks and decided to write something based on their answer to Luca and Malik meeting! Also serves as an intro piece for my main whumpee, Luca Montoya. As always, if I need to add any tags or warnings, just let me know! In retrospect, this wasn't one of Luca's better ideas.

Sure, it sounded good in theory. Sneak into the suspect's place of work, root around for any evidence or suspicious-looking packages, snap some pictures, and get the Hell outta dodge.

But in practice?

Well, Murphy's Law did have a habit of screwing her over.

She was trying to jimmy the lock of a particularly stubborn desk drawer, fiddling with the lockpick and muttering curses under her breath. Locked drawers were always a prime candidate for dossiers, or firearms, or folders with incriminating information in them- incriminating information that she needed.

The rumors of a serial kidnapper had been more than enough to spark her interest. The interest has only deepened as she looked and found evidence- scarce, but there- missing persons cases, with victims never well-known enough to really get on the cops' radar, but just often enough to show some semblance of a pattern. And it had led her here. To a funeral home.

Normally, she wouldn't be alone for something like this, but Meg was out on another case and Jake was probably high at a park somewhere. So alone it was.

Not that she minded, as less people meant less auras to keep track of. The people outside passed by like fireflies, dimming as they walked away and brightening as they neared the building, but none of them were hostile or alarmed. None of them had seen her.

Until Murphy's Law got involved.

Luca swore again as she lost the sweet spot when her hand shook. She shouldn't waste so much time on one lock. She's still got plenty of things to look at, and she's got to leave before her presence draws any attention-

"And who might you be?" A southern drawl made her jump in alarm, and too late did she sense the cooly malicious aura behind her.

Fuck you, Murphy.

She carefully rose to her feet and turned around, being careful to show her empty palms. No use getting shot now.

The man asking was older, but only by a few years, she thought. Lean, but well-muscled, with a bandanna covering half his face. His stance was relaxed, easy- not what one would expect when finding an intruder in their place of work. His aura, while dormant, subtly pulsed with... excitement wasn't the right word, maybe... alertness? Anticipation?

She thought quickly. Fight or bluff her way out of it? She glanced down. His hand was by his pocket. Not quite touching, but close enough. He was probably armed. That made the decision for her.

"I'm sorry, I came here to talk to someone about a service?" She does her best to look confused and relieved. "I tried to call earlier, but nobody answered..."

Technically not a lie- she had called on a day she knew they were closed to check if anyone was working late or overtime.

"We're closed," the man observed, and she mentally cursed herself. Think of something!

"...The door was unlocked?"

He raises a manicured eyebrow and she resists the urge to smack herself. "Anyway, you're closed, sorry to bother you, I'll just be on my way," she says as she attempts to slip past him and out the door, but a hand is on her arm and Oh Fuck No-

Instinct takes over as she whirls to shove him away from her, and as her palm meets his chest a burst of blue energy explodes on contact, sending him crashing into a nearby file cabinet. She catches a glimpse of his surprised expression before she regains her senses and bolts for the door-

She twists the doorknob.

It's locked.

Shit.

The deafening footsteps behind her warn of an incoming attack, and she turns just in time to see the man’s fist hurtling towards her face. She lifts her arm to block it. His fist strikes first her arm, then her head. The world explodes into a cascade of bright lights; her arm goes numb and then her skull is pounding. Even with her healing factor, she'd be feeling that for weeks.

She chokes as he grabs her by her jacket collar and slams her bodily against the wall. Her feet strain to touch the ground as she grips his arm with both hands to relieve the pressure on her windpipe.

"You're an interesting one, aren't you?" His tone is intrigued, but his aura is dripping with a twisted kind of excitement she's only felt from a few other people in her line of work...

And all of them were killers.

Aura flows through her veins, stifled by the lack of oxygen. His southern accent is lilting, almost amused. "I'd be honored to get to know you better."

She spits at him. He looks surprised, then amazed, then delighted. Never a good combination.

He releases his grip on her throat slightly, enough for her to gasp for air, before he chuckles and throws her over his shoulder. She kicks and thrashes, landing a few good hits, but this guy is no pushover as he carries her to another room in the back and opens a door.

Craning her neck, she sees stairs descending into pure black. She doesn't have much time to think about it, as she's tossed head over heels down the stairs. She lands hard on the cement floor and tastes blood in her mouth, eyes wild as she scrambles to her feet and back up the stairs, determined to rip her attacker apart-

Malik slams the door in her face.

She pounds against the other side, screaming curses and punching the door until her knuckles bleed, but it's no use. She hears him laugh from the opposite side.

"I'll be with you in a moment, darlin'. Just have to get my equipment set up..."

She doesn't want to know what he's planning to do with it.

Hello! I'm Shadow! I'm not entirely new to hockeyblr; I originally posted hockey on my main. However I decided to create this blog to separate my hockey talk from my non-hockey talk. Boundaries and other stuff under the cut.

ABOUT ME: I'm 17, queer, autistic (with ADHD in the mix) and I've been a Blues fan all my life. I also support the Washington Capitals, and I've been considering adopting the Kraken as a third team. Outside the NHL, I support the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL. As for players, I like Vladimir Tarasenko, TJ Oshie, Sidney Crosby, Cale Makar, Artemi Panarin and to an extent Cole Caufield. I also support generally more disliked players such as Tom Wilson. Brad Marchand has also grown on me a little. Additionally, I do want to share that I do support and *will* post about some incredibly controversial players, those players being Alex Ovechkin and Patrick Kane. The reason I'm sharing this is because there is one thing I want to make very clear: While I support a player on the ice, I don't exactly support a player off the ice. In fact, there may be times I will openly criticize a player's actions, even if they are my favorite. So, if seeing any of the players mentioned above makes you VERY uncomfortable, filter out the players' names (see also: tagging system) or block me for your own comfort. (Additionally, if you're curious on where I stand on Kane's 2015/16 cases, I won't get into that entirely, as it's a pretty messy subject and I don't think I could do it justice, however I'll direct you to read these posts from other users so you can try to guess how I feel). BOUNDARIES: Firstly, this blog is run by a minor, and this blog is strictly SFW unless stated otherwise (injuries, blood and excessive swearing will be tagged accordingly). I don't bite at all unless you'd like /platonic. I also want to meet some artists (SFW please!) and other creators. Hockeyblr could use some creativity here! So, who's not welcome? Well, besides the usual criteria (bigots, antivaxxers and pedo/incest fetishizers), I do not welcome gatekeepers, gossip blogs or confession blogs. I also don't want strictly NSFW pages to interact, and I also advise blocking me if you don't want minors interacting at all (Remember: DNIs go BOTH ways!). Additionally, if you think cheering for a specific team makes you a shitty person, or likewise, you think your team isn't immune to criticism, get off my page. Part of changing hockey culture involves criticizing your own team and favorite players too.

Discourse blogs are also advised to not interact unless I already know you, since discourse makes me fucking uncomfortable a lot of the time. Lastly, accounts with no pfp/bio/header or accounts with a pfp of a (usually) white woman and nothing else will be blocked since half the time I'll assume you're a bot. No exceptions.
