Summary: After learning that Captain Rex has recommended Hardcase for ARC training, the Domino twins take their younger brother out for a celebratory meal. What should have been a carefree adventure yields unexpected results.

Excerpt:

“This is, without a doubt, the best decision we’ve ever made,” Hardcase declared.

Grabbing a mystery pastry off of Echo’s plate, he popped it in his mouth and chewed as fast as he could. It was a little tricky to eat and wrestle Echo off of him at the same time, but his prize was well worth the effort. He mulled over the flavours as he pushed Echo’s hands away from his face; the soft filling was citrusy and sweet, with just a hint of herbal grassiness. And was that a floral note he was detecting in the sugar crystals on the pastry itself?

Echo managed to land a half-hearted blow to his cheek, nearly making bite his tongue.

“Hey!”

“That was mine,” Echo said. “And stop spitting crumbs on me.”

Swallowing, Hardcase shrugged and reached towards Fives’ plate this time, only to be met with a sound slap to the back of his hand. Hardcase yelped and pulled his hand back, shaking it and glaring at Fives. Not that it did any good, Fives wasn’t even looking at him. A distracted “eat your own food” was all Hardcase got before Fives went back to tearing chunks of roasted meat off of a large leg of something. The rapidly-forming bruise on Hardcase’s hand was a loud enough message, though, and a reminder to not mess with the ARCs.

If that wasn’t enough, Hardcase turned his attention back to his own plate and saw an empty spot where a steaming dumpling had sat just moments before. He looked up at Echo with wide, betrayed eyes.

Echo grinned at him around a mouthful of dumpling.

“Loth-cat eyes won’t work on me, vod.”

Before TBB Ends...Regardless of HOW it Ends...I've Got to Say Something...

In 2021, TBB was released, and over the last few years, it's grown to mean a lot to me. Not just the stories, the storytelling, the characters whom we've fallen in love with and hope to see more of someday, whose stories we've learned important lessons from, but how it profoundly affected my life.

And it is something I am incredibly grateful for.

Regardless of how the show ends, if it's something I'm going to love or be totally heartbroken over and hate, I'm so glad it happened and went on this journey.

For one, it gave me the plug to start writing. Writing was always a dream of mine but it wasn't until I discovered fanfiction, because of TBB, that I actually realized it. I had this idea of writing and thought I'd never really be able to accomplish that. The show enabled me to move past that and I've been able to be enflamed by my love for writing. It brings me so much happiness. No other show pushed me to write like this one.

Secondly, my writing has allowed me to touch and interact with people. I can't tell you how much it means to me and how thrilled I am to hear and learn my work has touched you in some way. I'm humbled by your words and taking the time to actually read and appreciate what I've written.

Thirdly, I've gone on so many adventures, crazy amazing adventures because of what other brilliant minds I met through the show have written. There are SO many great stories that just hit me so.....I was touched by your stories that you wouldn't have written if you hadn't watched the show!

Lastly, but CERTAINLY not the least, I have made SO many friends and writing buddies because of this show. It has connected me to so many cool people that I otherwise may never have found. I've grown really close with some of you, while others, though we may not be friends per say, I hope we can someday. In the meantime, I will admire your work from here. You guys mean so much to me and I can't even begin to express how wonderful it's been getting to know you over the past few years. The fun experiences we've shared, the theories, the stories, all of it. I am not putting this as well as it was in my head so please forgive that.

A few people have sent this to me or tagged me in the posts (thank you @grogusmum and @ladysongmaster) and so I figured I should do it.

This was harder than I thought but I think my top five are:

The Caretaker - This was my first long Din fic and I had so much fun writing it. I'm particuarly proud of Chpt. 6 as I still think it's the most romantic smut I've ever written.

The Crime Boss's Secretary - I had not written much for Boba prior to this, but just off of the ending of the Mandalorian, Season 2, I was inspired to make Boba a wonderful, sexy crime boss with his own sweet secretary

Sith!Obi-Wan Thots - I can't really decide which of these is my favorite, but they were all spicy and fun to write. The Lord Kenobi x Rebel You might be the best if I really had to choose.

Grogu's Teacher - This is probably my most popular fic on here and the only long fic I've written without a clear plan when I first started it. What started out as a cute little idea based on a hilarious post about Grogu jumping, turned out to be a really sweet story.

Beskar & Lace - I'm still so proud of that title. I loved having reader tease the hell of out Din and then to have it culminate in a steamy intimate encounter was so much fun to write.

Clone Trooper Rambles

Imaginary Friends, grown-up version. (Not in a weird or inappropriate way.)

For those who aren't familiar, Rambles are a journal-ish writing exercise, but with clone troopers peppered in, both to keep things interesting and to take the place of my subconscious.

Bubbles

“There’s a lot of stuff about civvie life that makes no sense,” Fives complained, peering suspiciously at a cloud of bubbles as he carefully avoided walking through them. 

“Like bubbles?” I guessed silently, smiling at the child who didn’t want to surrender the wand to get more bubble solution. His mother gave me a commiserating eye roll, which only made me chuckle aloud. 

“Yeah, what’s the point?” Fives continued, gesturing expansively. “They don’t do anything.”

“It is likely that they are-” Tech’s explanation was cut short when he made a strangled noise. “I believe I just ingested one.”

“It’s just soap,” I reminded him. “You’ll be fine.”

“The taste is unpleasant,” he said, still grimacing. 

“Yeah, that’s fair.”

Boss frowned at him. “How did you manage to eat one? We’re not solid.”

“Neither are they,” Tup pointed out. 

“I bet I can eat more than anyone else!” Hardcase challenged, planting himself in front of the bubble-blowers. 

“I… I think you might not find anyone else to take you up on that, ‘Case,” Fives told him. 

“Fine, then I’ll just set the record,” Hardcase compromised. 

“No you won’t!” Wrecker denied, pushing him out of the way and taking his place. 

I laughed at the strange picture they made and kept walking. It was a good day for a walk, the sun pouring down and glinting off the surface of the pond I was circling. There were enough trees to find shade if we needed it and the wind over the water was refreshing. The fact that there were troopers surrounding me was only another facet of the experience. 

“The kid asked a good question, though,” Boss said, hooking his thumb at Fives.

Fives, for his part, looked offended at that. “Kid? I’m not a kid.”

Boss shrugged. “Younger than me. But what’s the reason behind bubbles? They seem like a waste of resources.”

By this point of exposure to the troopers, I knew enough to side-step and avoid Tech’s excited interruption. Sure enough, he caught back up with us and began to gleefully answer Boss’s question: 

“I believe it is a form of training to help children develop the proper lung strength. Notice that most of those playing with the bubbles are young children. It is logical to conclude that-”

“Logical,” I agreed, “and interesting, but unlikely. Bubbles are a novelty, an amusement. People play with them because it’s fun.”

Tech blinked. “Then that is certainly a waste of resources.”

“Sometimes, a little waste isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” I suggested. “Such a small amount of soap goes into making the bubble solution and it brings a lot of joy to people. Maybe the lung strength is a good side effect, but there are more efficient ways of doing that. I think, for all of the joy they bring people, a little wasted soap is worth it for the bubbles.”

The two troopers took a moment to process that before Boss snorted. “Natties. No amount of waste is a good thing.”

“I don’t make the rules, kid.”

Boss’s shoulders tensed as I struggled not to laugh. “Don’t call me kid.”

“Younger than me,” I told him blithely. “That’s the rule, right?”

The sigh Boss gave was enough to finally push me into laughter.

both @ladysongmaster and @clone-captain-spark tagged me to post the last line that i wrote - sorry this is so late! it's also not technically true bc right now all i'm writing are zine pieces (which usually have secrecy clauses in the rules), but i found one that i am able to post! a little writing exercise from a zine that isn't as secretive (but i obviously can't post the whole thing)

But once it stopped, the absence of the sound was almost as jarring as its presence.

Falling

A/N: Well hello there! This is a little Tech drabble I just had to write after watching the TBB season 2 finale. It has been a while that I have been very active and I am planning on being active again soon, more active that is. If you have not watched the S2 finale of TBB, then this does contain spoilers! As always, all likes, shares and especially comments are more then welcome!

Darkness. A deep darkness now seems to surround him completely.The last thing he saw were Omega and Wrecker reaching for him.  At first there is a distant sound of the mountains and the surrounding terrain that provide him with some comfort. All too sudden that too fades into nothing. Now, all that is left is the sensation of actually losing all of his senses. Where there used to be sounds, silence remains. Not even the beating of his own heart can be heard. The feeling of the wind blowing across his skin and his muscles contracting after eventful times have slowly numbed. Taste was the last sensation to go. The taste of bile that found its way into his mouth when he realized the situation he and his brothers and sister were in, the decision he immediately made. “I am falling.”

He is left with his thoughts as he falls. “I have failed and so I fall.” He waits and it seems to take forever to reach the end of itl. Suddenly, all sensations return , all at once. His body overwhelmed by the sudden shock of their return, the last thought before his mind completely shuts down is for his family, all of them. “Be safe.”

When the stormtroopers reach him, what stands out is his little smile.

Hemlock observes the medic through a transparisteel window before he taps it once, gesturing for the medic working on the person lying on the cot to come to him. “I will be taking those goggles now.” Taking the goggles from the side table, the medic takes a quick look at its owner now lying in a deep coma, hooked up and well monitored. “I will be offworld to collect a new specimen. Comm me as soon as he is awake and bring the other one to the medical trials.” Hemlock moves away, goggles in one hand as he looks at a message he received not too long ago speaking of the female clone he will soon have control over and thus over the Kaminoan scientist currently in a holding cell.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Only 5. Some of y'all write so fucking fast.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Basically just star wars, and within that, just The Clone Wars (but in my defense, that is a highly diverse universe). But I daydream around whatever media I'm consuming so if something sticks, I may write it (like Loki).

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Lmao, all five that I've written! But Battle Scars (star wars) and Moribund (loki) are basically tied in first place with each other.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Listen, I get really in my head about it. Like the answer is "yes" but also if it's been too long....then I feel like it's too late (RIP all comments for the 2nd chapter of Battle Scars). But comments are the BEST and I always appreciate it when an author responds to comments that I leave for them.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Ha! Moribund.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Off Duty?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, thank god. I don't know what I'd do.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Not....yet........

10. Do you write crossovers?

No but I have read some especially good ones.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I'm aware of? Seems unlikely.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, but I think it would be rad. If @mithrandirl ever wanders back to star wars I feel like we could create something great.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Spuffy. The older I get the less I believe in "there's only one perfect person for you" and I'm much less rigid about who I ship characters with. But Spuffy hit me before that time and even in rewatches of the series there is something so deeply intimate in the way Buffy and Spike understand each other, validate their strengths and weaknesses, and complement one another in the best way possible for the lives that they're living.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't have time for your naysaying! I will finish them all if I have to live to be 200 to do it!

16. What are your writing strengths?

Having my characters feel very true to character, I think? And dialogue maybe?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dude, I am so fucking slow at writing. My quality/speed relationship is a steep negative line.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Does it strengthen the writing, the story, or the characters?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Before I realized that formulating entire stories in your head, and revisiting them over and over again until they're memorized, even if you never actually write it down still counts as writing (to me), Artemis Fowl.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

That's been posted? Battle Scars, but let the record show that Wa(te)r Born holds a very special place in my heart. I am deeply proud of the writing that I did there despite it being only 500 words.

But ultimately, my unpublished foxiyo fic is where my heart lies. Hopefully someday soon I'll start posting.

*Quick disclaimer, I may not tag everyone because I work long hours so if I've forgotten you, it isn't intentional, my brain is just stupid. So I shall begin!!!!

First and foremost, my dear writing friend @eclec-tech. She is literally the coolest. Her stories?!?!?!? Some of the best AU and OCs I've ever read. I will love and ship Tech/Phee, but Miran Threst has first place in my heart for Tech (even over my own OC!) She's read a lot of my work, encouraged me so much in the beginning of my time writing and even now when I get very disheartened with my progress. She's the reason I'm here on Tumblr! Her stories are just so cool. And she's a cool person.

Of course there is my bestie @photogirl894 🥰she shares my innate love for Hunter and the Bad Batch. Her ideas are SO fun and she's so fun to chat with. I've read a lot of her work before we met and I fangirled from a distance til she invited me to chat. I'm still so in awe of just talking to her, it'd be a dream to write something with her.

@apocalyp-tech-a is a moot I'd love to get to know more. Her work is freakn amazing!!!!! I know we share a love of many things, especially poetry. Her things never disappoint. Her Tech anthologies blow me away. She's so sweet and humble too.

@lizartgurl (or @jedipoodoo) I hold in awe for her medieval Batchers. I'd love to get to know her a bit more and I'D BE SO DOWN to write something with her sometime. Goodness, Hunter is beautiful on his own but BAM medieval Hunter? Just made him so much more so. She's been an inspiration to me and my own writing.

@arctrooper69 is SOOOO fun to work with!!!! She wrote "As Iron Sharpens Iron" and asked me to beta read. IT'S SO FREAKN FUN to work with her as we add fine details to her already freakn amazing story! (seriously folks, go check it out)

@carolinetano7567 has some amazing stuff I've loved seeing on here and I know we share a love of the Batch and Wingfeather! It'd be fun to collaborate someday.

@trapezequeen is such a fun presence on here too. We've discussed story ideas and it's always so fun!!!!!

Quick break to shoutout people I don't know if they're on here or not -- my great friend who I write "Hunter's Stress Journal" with, Ghost Cookie, SlimTech, Yazstar, kaydear, Cuthian, and a few other Ao3 authors I majorly fangirl over their works.

@ghostofskywalker has so many fun ideas and so many cool works and is always so sweet when I submit requests. I'm always awestruck by the work. Not to mention all the cool exchanges Ghost puts together? Those are always so much fun and so cool to participate in.

Of course there's dear @masterjedilenaaa, one of the first writers I discovered in fanfiction. I am always awestruck by the amount of detail and fine work done in all of the requests I've submitted. I think I'd faint if she'd ask me to collab.

@ladysongmaster is SUCH a cool person!!!!!! and all of the amazing stories she writes?!?!?!?! pleeeeeeease colllabing with her would be mindblowing!!!!!!

I'd love to get to know @moonstrider9904 more. I've seen a lot of her posts and she's so fun to interact with!!!!!

@klmwrites has so many different, COOOOL, like freakn cool, ideas. All of the ones I've read have left me at the edge of my seat, needing, wanting more. To work with someone so amazing and creative?!?!?! I think I'd just be too awestruck.

I have to have at least an honorable mention for @techs-stitches and @ovaa-bi-bia. They've been SO supportive of me in the past. I don't know if they write, but I love seeing their posts and getting to know them.

@frostycatblr-fandom-files is a favorite pop up of mine too. I love seeing the artwork and the stories!!!!!!! Collabing would be fun!!!!

@imabeautifulbutterfly is such an amazing, sweet, person!!!!! And the creativity?!?!?!?! the beauty with which she writes?!?!?! I would LOVE to collaborate with her. She's been a beautiful soul and a great friend <3 She might be last on the list but CERTAINLY not the least!!!! <3

WIP Wednesday

Thank you for the tags @winterinhimring and @ladysongmaster !! I’m making a separate post because I’d like to see what other people are working on :)

Wilbur shakes his head, smiling. “You’re such a weirdo.”

He doesn’t pay attention to Tommy’s sharp reply, instead unfolding his glasses and perching them on his nose, making sure the stick-like ends don’t get tangled in his hair. He blinks, and suddenly the world looks a little bit clearer.

He wore glasses in L’manburg—quite a bit, actually. He wore them more often than he left them off, he thinks.

In Pogtopia, he wore them sometimes. If he wasn’t wearing them, he’d forget about them for days or weeks, and if he was wearing them, he’d forget to take them off for days or weeks.

One day he got angry and threw them at the wall. They shattered. Broke. He didn’t wear glasses after that.

Wilbur didn’t have glasses in Limbo.

This is from a long one-shot I’ve got in the works :) It’s been fun to write so far!!
