Short Bio:

As a ward of the forest, Naivah assists travelers or injured people that may be stranded. Helping the wailers stop poachers and other various tasks that the shroud locals have. When she isn't getting herself lost, or being distracted; she is reading up on the twelve or doing research. She has visible scars and wounds, she will either ignore anyone who asks about them or avoids the subject.

Where you may find her:

Anywhere in the shroud: She will avoid major cities, with the exception of Gridania. Spending most of her time within the shroud looking for locals that need help, especially if they need something from the deep shroud/sylphlands.

Coerthas: It appears that she avoids going within Ishgard, however, she will help out the locals in the cold coerthas regions.

Mor Dhona: It is common for her to help Derek and do her own traveling and research about the Twelve.

Where you may have seen her:

Adventure guild in any city: Where she looks for jobs or quests in her downtime. The only time she spends more time is to eat or have a drink.

Kugane: Some research has brought her to the city from time to time. She will stay if her research keeps her in the city or region late.

Ishgard: very rarely she will step foot in the city. When she does it is to stay at the inn, she keeps her stays restricted to the Forgotten Knight and she tries not to stay for long periods of time.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE ––– –

Hair: Shoulder length chestnut brown, longer on the sides but she usually has it braided or tied up. Eyes: bright lavender Height: 5'3' Build: stocky/tone build from all the traveling. Distinguishing Marks:

A scar that wraps around her neck and stops at her collarbone

A fresh burn covers the top of her right hand and reaches her elbow, sometimes she has it wrapped.

Common Accessories:

An aether compass. Belonging to her deceased sister.

A worn sealed letter, with many creases, shows it's been with her for a while, though she has never delivered it to its intended party, nor re-opened it.

A tattered piece of fabric, torn, ripped covered in stains yet she keeps it neatly folded in her bag and sometimes used to wrap the Aether Compass in.

An over-stuffed satchel - she lugs her bag around full of things she may need on her travels. Her precious items she keeps stored separately in their own smaller bag that almost never leaves her side. She may even sleep with it.

Forest Ward - As well as she knows the Shroud and as much as she lingers around areas where travelers or merchants can get lost (or ambushed) Naivah always keeps an eye out to help anyone that may need it. She will check the adventure guild for any postings of those needing a guide through the shroud to any other region.

Healing services - Whether it may be an emergency or something on the quest board, Naivah will offer her healing services whenever they may be needed. She has skill in both healing magicks and more traditional methods. She is always excited to use her healing salve.

Explorer - Her research tends to take her out of the city-states and far out into the world. Despite her past, she still enjoys exploring, no matter how dangerous a place may look. In fact, that may just encourage her to want to take a look more.

"I'm so sorry to bother you.. but I am lost.." rubbing her hand over her arm she lets out an awkward chuckle - a side effect of her visible injuries (mainly the one on her neck) is that her short-term memory is almost non-existent. It is very common for her to travel somewhere and not remember why she had gone to that place or quite often get lost and forget where she is.

A conjurer guild member that had healed Naivah on a recent occasion has expressed concern to the wood wailers about her comings and goings from the Sylphlands. "With burns like that, there cannot be anything good coming from there, Someone needs to stop her from going!"

"I have not seen her in the city since that incident." An Ishgardian Knight who found Naivah unconscious in coerthas sets down his warm ale. "I do not know what could have caused the injury to her neck but, with all that blood, I was sure she was dead."

wren’s 100% correct warrior cat names opinion

was talking about this on a server so i figure i might as well throw it up on here as well. every few months or years i randomly get back into warriors rp and/or fanclans and ocs, which sometimes leads me to finding people with ocs whose names are technically correct (ie, they are two nature words a feral cat would conceivably know), but…not right. so why is that?

first of all, there are two elements to a name sounding right: the general flow of it/the mouthfeel, and whether it makes sense.

the first part dictates things like syllable count and what words exactly can be used. for the record, i’m approaching this from the perspective of trying to make names “feel” canon; not necessarily traditional naming, but names that aren’t jarring in the setting. most canon warrior cat names are two or three syllables long, and don’t contain words that are already compound words. i even looked this up to grab some stats:

of the several hundred canon prefixes:

4 are compound words: Bluebell, Chestnut, Milkweed, Primrose

7 are 3 syllables: Bubbling, Cinnamon, Dangling, Ebony, Juniper, Lavender, Shivering

1 is 4 syllables: Dandelion

none of the canon suffixes are compound words or longer than two syllables.

most warrior cat names, then, end up being 2-3 syllables long. the ones that are four are almost exclusively a 2&2 syllable pattern, like Goldenflower and Brambleberry. the full warriors that do have longer prefixes have 1-syllable suffixes, like Cinnamontail, Ebonyclaw, and Juniperstone, and we’ve never had an adult warrior with a compound prefix.

this isn’t to say it can’t be done—i think Primrosepetal is a solid name, for example—but you should be careful with it. Primrosechestnut is probably not a great name, because it’s very long for only four syllables and easy to get lost in, plus it seems like it has four segments instead of two. personally i think alliteration helps here as well, makes the sounds flow together better. make sure your name isn’t hard to read, either, like how Rumbleadder creates the word “lead” in the middle that can be confusing.

years ago, i saw someone use the name Solidagoshine and i like that too. solidago is another name for goldenrod, and i think a better one because goldenrod is compound, even though solidago is longer. solidago gets through its 4 syllables with the minimum number of letters and distinct sounds for each one, so it’s easier to read, and it ends in a nice 1-syllable shine to close it off. so it’s definitely possible to have longer names under this system, don’t worry.

while we’re talking about compound words, let me also caution you against using a normal compound word as a warrior name, for example Waterlily. it’s a fine name, but it just rings a little wrong since it’s already a real word.

ONTO THE SECOND CRITERIA: whether the name makes any sense. We’ll use the name [spins wheel of nature nouns] Twilightredwood as an example. probably not a great name to go for, because twilight and redwood do not have any real conceptual link, they dont describe how the cat looks (in fact, they’re a bit contradictory, with “twilight” having a gray connotation and “redwood” having, well, red, or maybe brown), and they don’t really hint at the cat’s personality or skills. maybe twilight could imply calm and redwood could imply steadiness or strength, but it’s not obvious.

those are the three criteria i use for a name’s meaning. just about every canon name fits into one or more of those categories. we all know that cats named Graystripe, Redtail, and Blackfoot have specific patterns. names like Mothwing and, dare i say, Twigbranch, are made up of two linked concepts. Other names like Hawkfrost, Leafpool, and Rootspring may not point to a specific physical trait or make any sense as linked concepts, but they outline the character’s personality or skills (Leafpool’s is technically a nod to the Moonpool, but I’d argue that the “pool” image is calm like she is, so it still works).

now that starts to lean more into traditional naming, but i don’t think every prefix/suffix has a set meaning or rules. “snow” could mean soft, gentle, playful, for one cat and cold, uncaring, even deadly for another. you could have a white cat with the Oak prefix if you meant it as strong and steady as opposed to bark-colored.

again, i’m not the name police. ultimately, do whatever makes you happy. i have ocs named Briarbee and Swiftdove and Crowflight and Lichendust, but i also have one named Rhododendronsnap. so, uh. how much room do i have to talk. actually, ironically, i think the only one there that might not follow my own rules is Lichendust. what does that mean.

Small Introduction:

Hey there! I have done many iterations of this and honestly I just miss it! I hope you all will take the time to read this over as i spent a lot of time on this and it's not fun when people don't read everything.

Plot:

This does go chronologically through Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts and the struggles he deals with as well as his friends and enemies at school. But not only will we be following Harry Potter but some other characters.

My main character, Catalina Thorne, has gone through quite a lot. Not by any means as much as Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. But she has dealt with things her classmates and friends could scarcely ever go through. She had to watch her life unfold as a lie and had to lie about the true death of her family. She has to keep a secret of the family safe. The one person she shouldn't trust her secret to is the son of a death eater. But Catalina, the shy sweet innocent girl that she plays, goes and gets a crush on the worst person she can, Draco Malfoy. Can she manage to keep her family secret when her boyfriend's family is one of the darkest wizarding families? Find out!

Rules:

1. Please make sure you know Wizarding World lore and background. I will make a channel for information if anyone has any questions.

2. Sexual activities must happen in a private channel and with the proper procedures. The students can only do this if you are in year 5. Younger years are allowed to do hand holding and kissing and the like.

3. You are allowed to play as many characters as you can control. Just please don't play too many that it's a burden for you.

4. Any ocs are allowed. Just please provide a bio and picture and let it be approved beforehand.

jeans, always jeans. sweatpants are warm and thats nice but from a stylistic perspective jeans any day of the week. specifically jeans that ive had for a while because I embroider as a way to fidget in class so they end up with tones of ripps and lazy daisies.

One (Long) headcanon post about Masked Ones (Also known as Vaspians) Colour Genetics and Mutation

◇Please note that there's no diagrams in this, but I might possibly make a second post with said diagrams. Also this is a VERY long headcanon post, so do keep that in mind. Also many of the mutations are based roughly on horse and cat coat colours. ◇

◇Also not on-topic but feel free to reblog my art and general Masked Ones headcanon posts, especially with tags! Really the only posts that I don't want people to reblog are RP threads, headcanon posts specifically about Hob and/or Lorelei (Unless it's attached to art/ they're mentioned in a hc post on vaspians in general), OOC posts that aren't any of the above and IC posts that aren't RP starters. However, you can talk about the Hob/ Lorelei headcanons in the notes/ replies, or send an ask about it if that's more comfortable for you. I really do like it when people reblogs my art with tags, even if it's a bit silly sometimes.◇

Masked Ones have two types of genes that determines colour, B (Black/ dark brown) and R (Brown/ Tan/ orange) genes.

There are also two types of the R gene; R1 (Red) and R2 (Yellow), but is generally referred to as R (brown). Both genes express themselves to create a brown coat.

R and B can't become co-dominate, but there are other genes that effect how much of each pigment gene is expressed and generally which one is expressed.

There's a gene that dilutes the main colour (D), a RD vaspian has light brown or light orange fur while a BD has grey fur.

There's also the M gene, usually referred to as Metallic or Champagne, that gives the vaspian an extremely metallic looking yet diluted coat. R1M would be copper/ brass coloured, R2M would be gold while BM would be silver.

There's also the Pr (purple/ blue) gene, which gives the coat a slight bluish/ Purplish tint, similar to Lilac/ lavender/ blue in cats. This doesn't affect both R genes, but affects the B gene, causing bluish dark grey (blue), pinkish light grey (Lilac) and purplish grey (Lavender).

Blue/ Pr1 basically dilutes the black fur, Lilac/ Pr2 kind of mixes the R1 and B genes together and dilutes the result and Lavender/ Pr3 also mixes R1 and B genes together, but doesn't dilute it.

There's also something known as "Double Diluted," or DD for short. This basically a Leucistic vaspian, with white fur and light coloured mask, but black sclera, regular eye colours and possibly some very light markings.

A true albino vaspian would be pure white with very light silver mask and light grey sclera with very light blue iris. They usually suffer from skin and eye issues though.

A melanistic Vaspian would be caused by a mutated B gene, basically causing it to go into overdrive, resulting in black fur, very dark coloured mask and occasionally barely noticeable markings.

Xanthistic/ Yellow vaspians would be yellowish orange with a gold tinted mask, and is caused by faulty R1 AND R2 genes, causing the R1 to barely express itself and the R2 gene to go into overdrive.

Erythristic vaspians would have red fur and reddish mask, and is also caused by faulty R genes, this time the R2 gene is barely expressed while the R1 gene is expressed in overabundance.

A "True blue"/ Axanthistic vaspian would be grayish blur with a blue tinted mask. This is caused by a mutated variant of the BPr1 gene, so they MUST have a blue parent that carries but might not express the Blue gene, especially the mutated version.

There's also other genes that controls markings, like pointed, spotted, dun, piebald, etc.

The "pointed" marking looks similar to the siamese mutation in cats, but is actually more like the roan gene in horses.

As for the characters and my oc (Hob, Lorelei and Aviator), Hob is a pointed grey/ pointed BD with a bit of countershading, Lorelei was a brown/ R vaspian and Aviator is a pointed true blue/ axanthistic/ Mutated BPr1 vaspian.

Style:  Long and typically straight, though occasionally curled. Often worn either with a middle part or her iconic pigtails. Also, she will sport two braids framing her face occasionally, as well hair buns when her pins are misplaced. 

Eyes:  Hazel/light brown. Thin eyebrows, long lashes. 

Scars:  Huge fang marks along her outer upper left thigh, with burn scars trailing upwards towards her mid torso (courtesy of a Rocket Admin’s* Houndoom). A collection of smaller scars and slashes as a result of training with Steelix, Scizor, and similar species. These can be found in various places along her body.

FASHION

Her resolve is sturdy, and she is far from a push-over—but does enjoy toying with people’s perception of her.

Appearance:  Generally well-kept and hygienic, very light/dewy make-up. Favors clothes that are comfortable, although is prone to dressing up when there are events. She holds herself with poise and an air of class, though these are simply aspects of her mannerisms and aren’t the result of pretension.

Scent:  Sandalwood, eucalyptus, lavender, jasmine (naturally), citrus scents.

Voice Description:  Sweet like honey, yet strong; there is a strength to it that shows more once she’s comfortable around someone. It also is more prominent in the heat of battle.

Accent:  yes / no.  More information: Italian, though it softens once she moves to Johto. After several years of being with James, she picks up a slight British accent—it is mainly noticeable with only a handful of words and phrases.
