Hey Red, I'm trying to build a better understanding of mathematics, because to my mind math has always been a collection of arcane sigils that I had to memorize to pass tests in school. I must know how these sigils came to be and why they mean what they mean. Are there any resources you recommend I use in my pursuit of these secrets? Please and Thank You 🙏
It's good you described math as something you "build," because I think that's the best analogy possible.
Mathematics, in its purest form, involves no memorization. Math is the process of taking a very small number of established truths and defined operations that preserve truth, and using those operations on your established truths to expand your space of known truths. As long as you start from a point of truth and only use operations that preserve truth, you will derive truths. If you understand the base principles from which a branch of math is constructed, you can rederive it from first principles. Memorization is easier, but you can rederive it.
For instance, we can start with two things, the number "1" and the operation "+". 1 means "a single thing" and + means "put them together." If those two concepts exist, then we also have 2, 3, 4, and every other positive integer, because we can derive them by using + on as many 1s as we want. If we drop a rock on an empty patch of ground, and then drop a rock on that same patch of ground, that patch of ground now has two rocks on it.
If we include within the definition of "+" that there exists an identity value 0, and every value has an inverse that when added to it produces zero, we also get 0 and all the negative integers, producing the group of integers. Every integer can be expressed using nothing but the number 1, the + operation, and its inverse - if we're feeling spicy.
If we decide to add another truth-preserving operation, "*", with identity value 1 and the same kind of inverse property that "+" has, we rederive every rational number. Every number in this field of rational numbers can be described as a combination of 0s and 1s using only + and * and their inverses; truthful objects combined in truth-preserving operations. We started from the truth and we used it as our only building material to create something equally truthful.
We can memorize a multiplication table, but multiplication is just iterated addition. If we forget, we can just do the addition again.
Algebra is a simple rearrangement of a simple beginning math problem by way of other truth-preserving operations. When you're starting out, you might expect to see something like
3 + 5 = ?
Algebra starts when we replace "?" with a placeholder, "x". This is just a change of terminology. It preserves truth.
3 + 5 = x
This isn't what most algebra problems look like, though. Most basic algebra problems look more like
3x + 7 = 31
But these two formulae are the same, because we can turn one into the other through operations that preserve truth.
3x + 7 = 31 -> subtracting the same value from both sides of the equation is an operation that preserves truth. We subtract 7 from both sides, getting
3x = 24 -> dividing both sides of the equation by the same value is also an operation that preserves truth. We divide both sides by 3, getting
x = 8 -> addition is associative, so we can break 8 up however we want if we do
x = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = (1 + 1 + 1) + (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) = 3 + 5
Solving an algebra problem is the process of breaking down the things that make it complicated using the truth-preserving operations that defeat them. Added values can be subtracted. Multiples can be divided. Exponents can be root'd.
We understand what it means to put a placeholder in a math problem. We realize, by the same token, we can put in more than one placeholder, if we want. This gives us problems that don't have single numerical solutions, but spaces of solutions. Consider
2*x = ?
We do what we did before, replacing that "?" with something that means the same thing. We use a different letter to avoid confusion.
2*x = y
Now we have multivariable algebra. Instead of getting hard numbers for both variables, we have pairs of numbers. If we pick an x, we get a y. If we pick a y, we get an x. The relationship between the values is clearly defined; x will always be y/2. If x is 3, y is 6. If x is -1.8, y is -3.6.
Now for the sake of convenience, we create shorthand - another change of terminology that preserves truth. We come up with a term that describes this relationship between x and y. We decide to call y a "function."
y = f(x) = 2*x
A function is what we're calling one half of an equation; what goes on the other side of the equals sign. It's just a rename, like when we turned ? into x. It preserves truth.
The trick at this stage is that every element of this seeming increasingly complexity is actually an attempt to make the process simpler as we handle more and more things. We don't technically need any numbers other than 0 and 1 if we're just dealing with rational numbers. We could write 378/5 with nothing but 1s and +, -, * and /, but by god we wouldn't want to. We could write [x^3 + 2x + 5] as ?*?*? + ? + ? + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 and it would mean the same thing. The shorthand and symbols get dizzying if you lose track of what they mean, but when you remember what they mean, you understand why you need them.
Any piece of mathematical shorthand basically means "for this thing we're talking about, this set of things is known to be true." We can rederive those things if we need to, but the shorthand is there to help us avoid doing it unnecessarily. We call the integers a group because that means it has an associative operation that is invertible and has an identity element that, when used in the operation, leaves the operated-on value unchanged. We don't want to write that out every time we use + or remember what 0 means, but we can if we have to.
Calculus is where most people think math turns into wizardry, but derivatives and integrals are just another pair of inverse functions like + and - or * and /, and the building block of this branch of math is the derivative. Any formula for a derivative can, in a pinch, be rederived by calculating the difference quotient (f[x+h]-f[x])/h as h approaches 0. If f(x)=x^2, we may memorize that its derivative f'(x)=2x, or we may calculate
[f(x+h) - f(x)]/h =
([x+h]^2 - x^2)/h =
(x^2 + 2xh + h^2 - x^2)/h =
(2xh + h^2)/h = 2x + h
And the limit of this as h->0 is 2x.
Everything in math can be broken down to first principles. Everything. Sometimes it's very hard to figure out what tool you need to break it down to its next stage of simplification, but it was built from first principles and it can be broken down the same way. If it isn't making sense, break it down with truth-preserving methods until it does - even if you have to go all the way back to zeroes and ones.

A/N: Ahhh my little Lolo and Carlos of course!
Lorenzo knew he was in trouble; you and his Papa were going to kill him. He broke his promise and not only that, but he'd also totally be grounded when Carlos was done with him. Sitting in the headmaster's office was not good.
He knew it was even worse when you walked in and Carlos wasn't behind you. "Mrs. Sainz? Your husband not joining?" The headmaster asks, unsure if he should wait. "He had to stay home with our youngest. So, we can continue." You sit down, casting a soft glare to your son.
Lorenzo bows his head as the words between you and headmaster become muffled. "Thank you, I'll need to speak to his father before we make any rash choices." You stand gathering your purse and putting a sting to your touch on the back of his neck.
"Go to the car. Now," You whisper, and Lorenzo moves quick and climbs into the car. At 16, he now felt like he was 5 and be scolded for touching Uncle Charles's Monaco GP 1st place trophy. Lorenzo sits in the car and watches as you stalk to the car.
It's quiet as you drive home, not saying a word. "Do you understand what is happening?" Your voice was calm, to calm for Lorenzo's liking. "Yes," He whispers. "You're failing, you're lucky that your father's name has come into play or else you'd be kicked out. But, dammit Lorenzo." You sigh and take a deep breath.
"This is a conversation for your father." Lorenzo curls in on himself knowing that Carlos was waiting for them to come home. "Is, is he mad?" You cast him a look and Lorenzo wishes for nothing more than the world to swallow him.
"He didn't come with me for a reason." Pulling up to the house, Lorenzo climbs out of the car and stops seeing his father and his team principle walking down to them. "Lorenzo, see you in Italy." He smiles, patting him on the back and Carlos smiles.
But Lorenzo knows the difference, that's his father's PR smile. "Inside the house, now." Carlos's voice was dark and Lorenzo knew he fucked up. "Pa," "You better get inside that house or you'll stay here in Spain instead of going to Italy to race. And I'll ground your ass into ash. Get inside that house Lorenzo Norris Sainz." Carlos points to the door and Lorenzo whimpers.
His father rarely used his middle name, but now he was and Lorenzo knew he was fucked. Walking inside, Lorenzo see his baby sister Isabella coloring with her kangaroo stuffie and waves at her older brother. Lorenzo goes to his room and doesn't come out until Carlos calls for him.
"Sit down," Carlos nods at the chair and Lorenzo quickly takes a seat. "You're failing all your classes, skipping, and sneaking out to go see your girlfriend while also going SIM. Explain to me why I shouldn't lock you down, and make sure you don't have a life again?" "Carlos," You hiss and your husband shrugs.
"Papa, I love racing, it's all I want to do. I'm tired of wasting my time at school. You left school way younger than me, why can't I? Please Papa, this is my world. You should understand." Lorenzo begs. Carlos sits there and listens and smirks. "You failed and about to get expelled, you're getting your high school degree. You can stop in person classes, but while you travel you are to keep your grades up online. Don't do that and I cut your brake wires. Understand me?" Lorenzo nods his head, Carlos patting him and walking off.
"Mama?" "You fuck up, and I won't make excuses for you anymore young man. Get it together, understand me?" Lorenzo smiles brightly and runs over kissing you on the cheek and nodding. "Of course, I'll make you proud." "You already do, baby."

character writing tips??
Everything's subjective, but for me:
For character creation (as for plotting, as for worldbuilding), each of us ultimately has to find our own best practice and preferred method through trial and failure. There's a vast spectrum of tips ranging from 'create a bullet-pointed list of their favourite foods, make them a playlist of their favourite songs, make sure you understand every facet of who they are and where they've been before you sit down to write them' and 'discover the character as you write them!' and there's no objective answer. I like to give my characters a starting point, a starting goal, and starting principles, then toss them in the deep end and see how they react and change over time, but that's not for everyone. Try every approach and adjust to taste - does the character start to bore you after ten pages because you've already written them out as a straitjacketed profile and there's nothing left to find out? Or could you do with having a clearly defined arc, or more small personal habits or peccadillos?
2. For continuous character development (particularly if you're writing something serialised and longform like a podcast, particularly if you're writing for an internet audience), try and identify - and then be prepared to constantly out-think - the temptations that lead to calcification or Flanderisation of the character, because the golden fruit often ends up rotting the tree that birthed it.
Beware of your past successes, in other words, because they sway you and they corrupt the character. It's incredibly easy to find yourself straying towards 'oh, it was impactful when X came bursting in to save the day and they haven't really had a moment like that since, how can we recapture that?' or 'people really liked it when Y & Z had a big angsty argument about their feelings, maybe we should be giving them even more angsty arguments about their feelings' or 'the internet loves mean badass women, maybe A should be just incredibly mean and badass in all her interactions so we can get one million likes and be famous.' (I've caught myself doing all of these, and definitely haven't always succeeded in stopping myself.)
But fishing for a specific audience reaction or trying to stage-manage a narrative outcome is how you end up with zombie protagonists - stale archetypes acting out the same formulaic moments over and over in the hope of reliving the old applause, instead of characters that are still authentically capable of change or capable of surprising you.

okay i just got into f1 at the end of the last season. Can you explain some things to me- a hesitant Mclaren fan??
Basically why is the team so good this year and if Zak has proven the success of rookies, why don’t more teams follow suit? i’m so curious and also i wanna know everything abt Oscar and his war with Alpine?? Is Zak the team principle? why is he always there if not??

alright so i typed up this whole thing once and then tumblr deleted it so now you’re getting the shorter and more annoyed version, apologies
here we go, more drama this time mclaren edition
zak brown is the ceo of mclaren racing. some ceos are also team principals (horner, i think toto?) but he is not. he’s also not an Owner i don’t think. but basically he’s the ceo of all branches of mclaren racing including f1, formula e, indycar, super e and esports. admittedly, he is a more involved team ceo. like he appears regularly on their social media pages and at the races and on the pit wall and all that, but he’s not the team principal. that’s andrea stella. andrea is in charge of the f1 team, zak is in charge of all the mclaren teams.
teams need three things to do well, good drivers, good car and good team. supposedly this year mclaren has all three.
lando and oscar get along and have proven they are both good drivers. they are on the younger side (lando is 24 and oscar is 22) and i think they’re the youngest driver pairing on the grid, but they have both proven they can do the job. they are also willing to work together, as in, none of them threw a fit if one had to pass the other and also they’re in it for the team first, personal success second. which is key. you can’t have your drivers feuding cause then they do stupid shit (ie nico rosberg and lewis hamilton)
oscar and lando have both driven the car at this point and they said it went well. but most people say the first test goes well. however, they started shit last year and then made upgrades to get better so the general hope this year is that they will start good and get better. i think lando said in one of his interviews that he was something along the lines of cautiously optimistic (he doesn’t like to say he’s confident because then it looks bad if they suck) but we will know more about the car at pre season testing this coming week.
as for rookies. not everyone signs them cause they’re a risk. and if you’re a big team with an good name and reputation then you might not want to risk it. this past year there were three rookies. nyck devries who failed to score a single point at alpha tauri and was swapped out mid season for daniel ricciardo. logan sargent who scored only one point and it was because two people in front of his dnfd. admittedly he was in a williams, but his teammate manages to score 20 something points so. and then oscar, who i think finished with 80 something points ans a few podiums. oscar was in the better car so he naturally did better, but also he still could have flopped tremendously. and that’s why a lot of the bigger teams like to have the new guys proven themselves first in a shit car cause then if they’re in a good car they’ll really do well. signing a rookie tho is a risk, as it’s been a rare occasion for them to win anything or even podium in their first season. and that’s not great if you’re trying to win a title.
when lando was signed to mclaren he had already been involved with the team for a few years. he was in f3 in 2017 when mclaren noticed him and then made him a test and reserve driver in 2018. now some people (haters) point out that Oh Lando Was A Pay Driver until he was in f1. (meaning, his dad is a millionaire and he basically backed him his whole racing career. so he didn’t have to get sponsors because he had his dad. this is basically what lance stroll does) but when he got into f1 he said he didn’t want to do that anymore because he doesn’t think that that’s what you should do in f1. some people think he only got his seat cause of this, but objectively, mclaren noticed his good performance, not the money part and in any case, his dad doesn’t sponsor him anymore. in any case tho, he had already driven mclaren cars in tests prior to getting his seat in 2019. he was also quite young. 18. but he also had a decent rookie year (not quite as good as oscar but also the car was more shit then than it was this past year).
the oscar piastri alpine drama is basically that he was alpines test and reserve driver for 2022, exactly like how lando was for mclaren. alpine was losing fernando alonso for 2023 cause he was going to aston martin and they were like oh this is fantastic we can sign oscar now and give him an f1 seat. oscar had been in the alpine drivers academy for a few years when he was in the junior leagues (which basically means that they sunk a lot of money into his career). however, aparently alpine announced that oscar was driving for them in 2023 before he had signed his contract. and oscar didn’t appreciate this.
mclaren had unexpectedly an open seat after daniel ricciardos contract was terminated early and i guess oscar had been in contract talks with them. because he tweeted this:

which is nothing short of iconic. then alpine tried and failed to sue him for 4M USD. he dodged a bullet by going to mclaren.
and then abu dhabi 2021. without getting into it too much cause that’s insane lewis hamilton and max verstappen went into the race with the same amount of points. it was the last race of the year so whoever won that race was going to win the world championship title. there a lot that happened at that race that was weird but among the weirdest thing was that towards the end of the race there was a yellow flag, and a safety car. which means that all the cars got close to eachotjer again. now, hamilton had a comfortable lead over max at this point because there were five lapped cars between them. basically, those five cars were a lap behind hamilton and verstappen. sometimes on safety cars they allow the lapped cars to unlap themselves (go around the safety car and back to the back of the grid so they’re in the correct order). and for some reason. they allowed only the five lapped cars between hamilton and verstappen to unlap themselves (which is weird and unfair) and thus verstappen ended up winning. the whole race was bonkers and batshit tho and i would highly reccomend watching that drive to survive episode because they actually show the bonkersness pretty well.

All or Nothing: Noel Noa (ft. Jinpachi Ego)
(note that this analysis contains heavy spoilers for Noa's motives in my Big little dramas fic)
What I really like about Noa is that his character, with his questionable coaching decisions and personality... Actually very evidently grows from his backstory.
We only know a few things for sure about Noa's background before Blue Lock: he grew up in the slums of Paris, where he invested all of himself to get out of that hole, he's ex-boyfriend rival of Jinpachi Ego, with whom they diverge in their ideologies and approaches to the striker's game, and he's the idol of little (and adult) Isagi Yoichi due to the fact that he plays rough and focuses on his success rather than his teammates.
On top of that, we also know that Noa was probably forced into Blue Lock. Most likely, the club management put him in front of the fact that you was specifically requested by your ex rival, so go and shine with your face on a TV show. Oh, and bring along our resident bouquet of personality disorders, code-named kainess. Noa certainly doesn't want to show off for the camera like Lavinho or Chris, doesn't want to raise the next generation of players to avoid his mistakes like Snuffy, and certainly isn't looking for friends/good play/rivals like Loki (who only came to the top 5 to evaluate the level of Blue Lock players according to his own words). Even if he'd wanted to see the sprouts of Ego's theory I doubt that he will apply for the participating in Blue Lock voluntary.

Because Noa doesn't really care. This whole mess is just out of his field of interest. Outside of the games we only see him sitting in his room staring endlessly at screens and drinking coffee.
But it's from this that we see that Noa, despite his very... die-or-die method of building a game on the field, is a responsible player and coach. He may not want to mess around with kids in front of the world, but if he took the job, he'll do it. But he will do it exactly the way he demands of himself - no more, no less. Noa is neither cruel nor kind - he doesn't go beyond what his contract asks of him and his principles.
Slightly off-topic, I'd say that's the exact difference between Noa and Ego. No one would accuse Noa of conscious cruelty: he acts within his system, which he has explained to the children in advance, and if they fail it is only their fault for failing to adjust to it. He is simply doing his job - nothing more, nothing less.
Ego, in his turn? He chooses to be cruel even in the system he have built himself. Not because it somehow motivates the children, but because he can. And in doing so, Ego doesn't hate them - he probably doesn't care about any of them. He hates in them a part of the player he once was - the player who lost either to Noel Noa or the entire football world. If not to the both at once.
But even so, it seems odd for the manga to highlight their rivalry. It's not that only very few people have different ways of dealing with children. A lot of people are losing ugly to each other.
But this work with kids is the main root of their rivalry. Because the basics of their motto, their starting point of football, the way they guide children to the game are diametrically opposed.
Because the key point of Ego theory is that the striker is created by a moment of chaos. A moment that cannot be directed - that can only be pushed towards.
Except that for Noa a player hoping for a miracle and not knowing something is nothing. He will never allow that in his team - his whole game, his team and his life is one big formula with coefficients chosen once, like a neural network.

Both of them live as a part of the all-or-nothing game. Except that while Ego plays this game with emotion and involvement, Noa approaches it as logically as possible.
And only Isagi Yoichi can resolve this decades-long conflict.
Now let's go back to Noa's game, to understand why logic is that important to Noa and the player's emotions are insignificant and even get in the way.
Remember exactly how he plays on the pitch. He never comes out to play first like other master strikers. He chooses the midfield position to support the player of his choice - he doesn't steal their shine in the center of attack. He only scores a goal once too, in the first match - the rest of the time he blocks other master strikers in an effort to ensure the kids can play fair.
And that's probably why he openly mocks both Lavinho and Chris with his dry jokes about narcissists and "kids without the proper adult". But he's especially harsh on Snuffy, angrily mocking him for being bitten by "his own dog", bringing back the "don't make my job harder than it needs to be" line. But why does Snuffy deserve this treatment (not taking into account the way Snuffy himself ridicules Noa)?
Because Noa is disgusted with his approach to teaching.
In fact, it's their approaches in the Blue Lock cut that are most opposed, and yet turned on to the max. While Snuffy has gone so far as to give each player an individual program and plan in his strategies, Noa has let things slide, making his stratum a mini version of the Hunger Games. Noa is angry that Snuffy babysits his kids; he's angry at how involved he is in their lives, how Snuffy swirls around them, and how Snuffy is always there to help and support them.
Because Noa is a "give a hungry man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime" kind of guy. Except that he won't even teach them voluntarily. Players need to get the right advice from him themselves while framing the question correctly. 
Noa's policy is non-interference.
Because he knows from experience that it's the only way kids grow up strong. From his own experience.
And to fully dive in, let's remember another moment from the manga that characterizes Noa the most. His advice to Isagi.

"Dedicate every hour, moment, second of your life to a goal. Don't think irrationally. Get your thoughts in order. I don't pick irrational people for the team. Dedicate your whole self to the goal."
Pretty cool, huh? Blossoms with potential burnout, a life on automatic, and a complete loss of feeling.
You know what I'm getting at? That's exactly the lifestyle Noa lives with. And he doesn't see anything wrong with advising Isagi to do it. He doesn't get annoyed by people's taunts about him being a machine and incapable of feeling. That's probably what he wanted.

Because Noa himself grew up completely dedicated to a goal, switching off all his feelings and without mentorship, and it made him who he is now. And it's rational for him to follow the same path with his kids.
Because feelings are illogical. They're weird, they're scary, they're very hard to predict. They're exhausting, they make you turn back to the past and wait for the future with hopes that may not be fulfilled later. They take your strength, they hurt and they wound very sharply. They make you weak, they make you vulnerable - they make you a helpless child.
Living without them is so much easier.

In psychology this mode is called "detached protector". Its essence is that the child or adult turns off all their feelings to avoid punishment and focus on survival. 
They switch off all emotions. They cut off all emotional ties with loved ones, family and friends, seeing them more as objects. They can only work endlessly.
They function like a robot.
This mode is triggered when a person cuts off all their emotional needs, like an automaton focusing on one single goal.
In Noa's case? His survival. And that's exactly what Ego is talking about - that young Noa, obviously emotionally deprived, put all of himself into football because he had nothing else but it.

And judging by Noa today, having cut off those needs as a child, he doesn't see the point in experiencing them again. Noa doesn't smile, he doesn't get upset or frustrated. He doesn't get angry or regretful. Of course, mentally stable people can express their emotions weakly too - and even on a level like Noa.
But we're in a football manga. Football is all about emotion.
And the fact that Noa doesn't visually show the joy or at least the satisfaction of a goal or a victory - of the life that little Noa once strived so hard to live, investing all of himself - is just awful.
Of course, Noa has feelings, just like any other person. After all, he is a living being. Except they're either quite faint (because strong emotions = danger and weakness), or he crushes them as soon as he feels them coming on.
Noa's whole life is an endless race to stay where he is.
Because Noa has learned to survive. Of course, he did.
But Noa didn't learn how to live.

THE TIMES: The Formula One driver and his father, Steve, on failed driving tests and sleeping in horseboxes

My earliest memories are of living in a mobile home while my parents built a house in a field in the middle of nowhere, near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. I rode a pedal tractor around the site, hurtling through corners and reversing with a trailer.
At 25 I am the youngest of three. Cara is 37 and works as my personal assistant. Benjy is 36 and caught the karting bug when he was just 11. He was a brilliant driver, becoming a national and world karting champion. Unfortunately, even starting at such a young age, it was already too late for him to have a professional career. I took up karting when I was six and he helped me a lot. Benjy was like a mentor. He eventually gave up racing at university, so Dad’s focus was on me.
I didn’t see much of Dad during the week. He got up early and came home late running a business selling seeds and pulses. As a kid you miss having your father around, but it’s only now that I appreciate he was doing it so I could race at the weekend. Dad didn’t come from a lot and did well to create a successful business. We weren’t poor but we weren’t wealthy like the families of some F1 racing drivers now.
After long hours at work Dad drove us in a camper van to racetracks around the country. It was very much a family affair. Dad was the mechanic, Mum did the cooking and collected data on my driving. When I drove well, there were celebrations and the mood was great but because everyone was so emotionally and financially invested, when I suffered a poor weekend the mood was bad.
Dad has always been hard on the ones he loves. As a young kid, that was difficult to deal with. The pressure didn’t just filter down to me, it affected the whole family. I felt the weight of failure and expectation. If I made a silly mistake and spun off the track, I can now understand why Dad might have thought, “What the hell am I doing this for?” He had to work his arse off to support my racing, so if I didn’t put in enough effort, it must have been hard.

I now live in the world of F1, where tens of millions of pounds are spoken about like peanuts. Even in Formula Two or Three, every driver has to find huge amounts of money to get on the grid — it’s just crazy. When I was 16 and moving up through the ranks, I realised Dad didn’t have that sort of capital. I thought, “Oh shit, if I can’t find that sort of sponsorship or get picked by a team, my F1 dream is gone.”
Winning the F2 championship in 2018 was a big moment but I’ll never forget the day I signed for Williams F1 in September 2018. I was racing in F2 in Sochi, Russia, when Claire Williams, the deputy team principal at the time, called me in and offered a deal. Mum and Dad were the first people I told and they both cried. I told them to save their tears for when I won a race.
I joined Mercedes for the 2022 season, alongside Lewis Hamilton. It was a huge opportunity for me to learn and grow in F1, as well as show what I’m capable of. It was not an easy season for Mercedes but I feel very fortunate to be in this position, plus Lewis is such an incredible bloke on and off the track. He is so experienced, whereas I’m a 25-year-old who is just totally focused on trying to be the best F1 driver I can be. I’m pretty inspired by what he has achieved.
Dad is a strong character but he has become more emotional since his children have left home. He’s also friendlier now and doesn’t mind making a fool of himself from time to time. My only regret is that F1 doesn’t leave much free space to see each other but we do speak on the phone all the time.
Of course he still watches the pennies and will only fly economy — he won’t let me pay for their flights either. I know my parents can afford to fly business but it’s the principle for them. I want to make sure I reach a position with my racing where I can afford to give them the best in their retirement. They totally deserve it.

The F1 guys are OK on the racetrack but they are never as good as their dads on normal roads. George is always telling me to slow down as we approach a junction, though his mum thinks it’s fantastic when he takes her out and drives quickly.
There was just one occasion when George didn’t put the full effort in and it caused quite a commotion. He failed his first driving test at 17 because he thought that being a great driver on the track was good enough. He came home fuming that the examiner was wrong. We had to go back to the test centre in King’s Lynn so George could confront him. That didn’t go down well.
George was a cheeky little boy, a bit of a comedian. I worked a lot but it’s strange that I can only remember the racing side of his life, not watching him grow up at home. We enjoyed a nice life but had to work hard for it. I came from a family of farm workers with very little money and wanted to get away from agriculture and better myself but I ended up owning a wholesale seed business.
My wife, Alison, and I knew George was going to be a racing driver at the age of two. He was born on the track, coming to races to watch his brother and help out in the garage. He had a toy tractor that he rode around the pit lane and collected stickers from each race to stick on his “George Russell Racing” tractor.
As George progressed through the racing ranks it became more and more expensive. We invested in a motorhome to travel to races — before that I would sometimes sleep in a freezing horsebox. There were sacrifices. Alison and I didn’t go on our first holiday together until two years ago, on a trip to Lanzarote. By then we had been together for 38 years. People think that now George is in F1 we hang out with Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff, the Mercedes principal, every weekend in the sunshine, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Now Alison and I rarely go to races because we don’t want to interfere.
It was hard letting George fly the nest because we had been a close family, always doing our racing together. He is methodical and organised but his feet are firmly on the ground. There are plenty of people in the family to put him straight if needed.
There’s no magic wand to become an F1 driver — it takes hard work and dedication. It was only when I stood on the track with George before his first grand prix that I looked up at the enormous crowd and thought, “Oh my God, we’ve actually got here.”

The Problem with How We See Astrology
Astrology is not a science. But both proponents and detractors treat it as if it is.
If it were, each time the Sun is in your Zodiac sign, you should be on top of the world. Every time there is a new moon, you would be undergoing a dramatic rebirth. And as long as you can read your natal chart, then you should know how your entire life would play out.
Because that is what science is. Accurate, precise, demonstrable, undeniable, replicable.
In science, any number of individuals who mix the same amount of the same elements using the same method in the same environment will create the same formula.
That is not what astrology is. One Leo Rising could be the epitome of victory and glory, while another could be the poster child for loserdom and self-pity. Because astrology is not a science.
What it is, is an instrument of the occult. And like everything to do with the occult, it only lends itself to those who have faith in it, those who were born with the gift for it, and those who have the will to wield it.
But since astrology involves numbers, it is easy to fool people into thinking it is a science. If someone comes up with any system, and slaps some angles and degrees on it, we think of it as irrefutable. As Universal law. As the Gospel truth.
And when these systems, such as interceptions, the planetary dignities and asteroids, end up not matching our reality… the majority of us conclude that either astrology is fake, or we are too much of a beginner to understand it.
Worse, so many of us conclude that someone simply didn’t consider the other elements in the natal chart. The truth is, if you look at every aspect in your chart, everything starts to contradict itself. Every interpretation ends up being cancelled out by something else. Venus is in the Seventh House? Early marriage. Oh, but Saturn’s there too? Late marriage. In the end, you get average-age marriage, which most people could’ve predicted for themselves without the help of astrology — which now seems entirely useless.
That would never happen in science. No matter how many elements are in a theory or an equation, every single one would end up supporting each other.
When I was new to astrology, I was presented with so many “best and most accurate systems in existence”. Vedic, Draconic, Whole Houses… I compared their declarations and predictions to my own life and reality. Nothing resonated. It mattered not how ancient, famous and numerous their fans are.
At the end of the day, what astrology does is unearth our past and prophesy our future. It is a method of divination. So treat it like tarot, scrying or tasseography. Learn the basic principles, and then combine that knowledge with your own intuition to arrive at the truth – instead of simply relying on what others, with all their numbers, are telling you.
The stars, like our palms, are a map of our destiny. But there are right and wrong ways of reading of a map. So explore astrology from every direction, until you discover the correct orientation.

„And here comes the man, the myth, the legend: Everybody get your hands together for Max Verstappen!” You rolled your eyes. You had only one word that you associated with the brunette man that now jumped on the stage, happily smiling – and that word was arrogance. You had only met him once, just like an hour ago, in the paddock, after he had just won. But that one time was enough for you to know that you did not ever want to talk to him again.
What you did not know was that the man that you despised was smitten by you. He had just met you once, and he had to admit that he did not show his best side. He had just won, and he felt like the king of the world, like he was invincible. So, in his mind, that was almost blank after several hours in the racing car and the win, he felt like you had to fall under his spell. But he had a rough awakening when he found you did not.
“Hey, my name is Max Verstappen and I just won this race!” You turned around to see the young man standing in front of you, his face red where the helmet had protected his head, smelling like burned tires and sweat. “Good for you!”, you said, not understanding why he spoke to you. After all, it was your first time here, you did not work for Red Bull, you were not an engineer, and you did not even care for racing that much.
You had just recently found out that Christian Horner, the team principle of the Red Bull Formula One team, was your father. Your mother and him had been high school sweethearts, she was his girlfriend when he first started to be race driver. When she found out that she was pregnant, she did not want to concern Christian with it, as he was an aspiring race star, and that was a dangerous job. She decided to keep you but broke up with Christian to guarantee him the career he had always wanted.
Your mother had been always very open about the fact that it was her decision to raise you alone, you therefore held no grudges against your father. However, you still wanted to meet him some day, and when your mother told you, you decided to try and contact Christian. Much to your surprise, he actually answered. He was cautious at first, which you understood, but the name of your mother rang a bell. You met, and you were not offended that he asked to do a DNA test. Once the results were there, he was quick to make up for the time you two had lost, which was why you stood here in the paddocks. He wanted to show you how and where he worked.
It was hectic. That was the first word that came to your mind when you came to the Hockenheimring in Germany. Christian – it was still weird to call him dad – paid for your flight, your hotel, basically everything. It was cute how he tried to reconnect with you, you really appreciated it, especially because you were willing to put the same effort in. Even his family, his wife, and kids, were eager to make you feel welcomed in their family. You still remembered very vividly the first dinner you had together, and how all of you ended up crying together by the end of it, because you got along so good, and because it was emotional for all of you.
The memory of this got you smiling, and that was the first time Max saw you. You stood somewhere by the wall, trying to not get lost in the hectic and organized chaos that surrounded you. You wore an oversized Red Bull Sweatshirt, and a cap. You seemed so lost in this surrounding, yet Max could not take his eyes of you. You radiated happiness, and suddenly he felt the anticipation of the coming race just washing away. His heart beat faster when he laid eyes on you, and he knew today was going to be a good race. He did not know why - he just knew that he was going to be on the podium today. He had to, even if it was just to impress you, the girl that had completely eased his mind before the race and had helped him win.
So, after he got out of his car, and after shortly celebrating with his crew, he looked around to see if he could spot you. And there you were, leaning against the metal bannisters, as the rain had finally stopped. You seemed to enjoy the bit of sunshine that the German sun was ready to provide. He quickly made his way over to you, desperate to speak with you before he got onto the podium. In hindsight, he should have waited for his nerves and his euphoria to boil down. Then he would have maybe thought about his words better.
“Good for you!” The words rang in his mind, and he was surprised how kind you were, even though you seemed to be confused why he talked to you. “Many people are very sure that I will be the world champion this year!” He could not stop the words spilling out of his mouth. The smile left your face, and instead you furrowed your brows. In this moment all he wanted was to turn back time. Another “Good for you” left your mouth, but this time it did not sounded sincere. You sounded rather annoyed because what way was that to start a conversation?
But instead of apologizing profoundly, which he should have, Max after-the-race-brain decided it was the right thing to bury the hole he was already in a lot deeper. “I was also the youngest drivers ever to compete in the Formula One, winning my first Grand Prix with just 18 years!” The third “Good for you!” left your mouth, this time your voice dripping with sarcasm. Did he not have somewhere else to be?
However, Max was not ready yet. Even though he knew he should stop right here, in order to maybe get another chance at talking to you without you thinking what a prick he was, he continued speaking. It was these words that solidified your opinion around him. “So far, my net worth is around 60 million dollars!” This time, you could only role your eyes. You were just about to make a sarcastic comment, when the man in front of you was called by someone. “Max, you need to get to the podium!”
You took his distraction as your cue and fled. When Max turned around to say something more to you, you had already disappeared into the crowd of the Red Bull team. He was disappointed and mad at himself, however, the adrenaline and happiness he got from standing on the podium would quickly wash away those feelings. Or so he thought at least. For a moment he could enjoy the feelings, the bliss of fame and the euphoria of the win.
After the champagne fight, Max had to give a public appearance for the fans, and he did not mind. While he waited to be announced, he looked in the crowd, deep down hoping that he could spot you somewhere. And there you were, in the VIP section, still wearing the oversized Red Bull Hoodie that looked insanely cute on you. You turned around, almost as if you were trying to find someone, and he could not stop the smile from spreading on his face. Whoever had given you the sweatshirt had given you one with his name on it.
You were looking for Christian. The one moment he was right next to you in the VIP area, and then he just disappeared into the crowd. You sighed. Whatever, you would just wait here for him to be back, even when that meant that you had to watch the infamous, youngest Grand Prix winner, worth 60 million dollars and whatever not Max Verstappen.
On stage, Max seemed like a totally different person, and that got you thinking. Maybe he was not so bad after all. He was charming, funny and you hated to admit it, but if you would have met him under different circumstances, he would have been exactly your type. When you found yourself laughing to one of the jokes he made, you decided that if you ever were to meet him again, and he wanted to talk to you again, you would give him another chance.
Max had watched you from the corner of his eyes the entire time, and somehow, he still managed to stay focused on the questions. He felt like he really was the best version of himself right now and he was even more surprised that he had so blatantly failed at flirting with you. While you looked skeptical in the beginning, he could now see you laughing, and it made his heart flutter.
“Well Max, that shall be all! Congratulations again and enjoy your party tonight!” The party – Max had entirely forgot about that, and he found himself wondering, if not hoping, that you would be there. “Thank you!”, he said and was walked of the stage. He tried to get another sight of you, but you disappeared into the crowd and all he could hope for was a chance of meeting you again.
Christian had profoundly apologized to you for just leaving you behind. You waved it off, you had actually enjoyed watching the event, even more the day. Now it was time for you to get ready for the after-race party, maybe take a quick nap and a shower. Christian insisted on organizing you a lift to the hotel as well as to the party, and you did not complain. Even better was that he had gifted you a beautiful dress, that his wife and he had chosen for you. It was truly beautiful, and you were surprised of how thoughtful it was that he had gifted you a dress by listening to you talking about what you liked.
When you arrived at the hotel, you thanked the driver and made your way to your room. As planned, you took a short nap that occupied you longer than expected, as you almost overslept. You hurriedly showered and got ready for the party and made it downstairs just in time. Before you stepped outside the hotel, you caught a gaze of yourself in a mirror and you were in awe. The dress was really something else, beautifully complimenting your figure and your eyes.
When you arrived, Christian escorted you in via the back entrance, not yet wanting to reveal you to the media. You were glad about it. His world was entirely different from your life until this point, and you were not sure yet if you wanted to share his fame. He left you standing with his wife to look after his two drivers, but you did not mind. Geri and you got along splendid.
While you could sneak in the party, Max had to take the front entrance that was full of cameras and interviewers and fans. He smiled for the media, signed a lot of whatever people put in front of him, but his mind was elsewhere. Would you be there? He knew that he would do anything to see you smile again. Max could not understand himself. He had never felt like his before – he felt like he was a teenager again, his body tingling and his mind clouded. Once he made it in, he was immediately greeted by Christian.
“Hey Max!”, the team principle engulfed him in a side hug, “Congrats again on that amazing win!” The Dutch smiled wide. “Thank you Christian!” “I hope you are in your best form right now, because I want you to meet someone very special!” Max laughed. “Of course, after such a win always! Who is it?” Christian nudged him into the side with his elbow. “You will see, just follow me!”
So, the race driver followed him, as Christian led him through the crowd to a high table a bit off. Max could see Geri, Christian’s wife, as well as another woman standing with her back towards him. Christian approached the table, smiling widely. “Max, may I introduce you to my eldest daughter! Darling, have you two met before?” With Christian approaching you, you turned around and saw the brunette man from earlier in close proximity. The shock and embarrassment on his face was badly hidden, and you decided to spare the man a few sorrows. “I don’t believe we have met before. My name is y/n, and you must be the famous Max Verstappen! Congratulations on your win today!”
Max could feel his checks grow red from embarrassment and he got flustered. Luckily, you did not seem to have Christian told anything about the earlier incident. You bent forwards, greeting Max the French way - kissing him on both cheeks. That did not help him at all. „Is everything alright, Max? You don’t seem so well. Darling, there is a balcony over there, Max here seems like he could use some fresh air - do you mind taking him outside for a bit?“
You shook your head, and actually did not mind. Now was the time that you would find out who Max Verstappen really was. You did not even think about it, but since Max really did not look well, you grabbed his hand to guide him outside. His heart furiously beat in his chest, and he was terribly afraid that you would be able to hear it.
Once outside, the cool air helped him calm down a bit. You said down on a bench and offered him the place next to you. He gladly accepted. Between the podium, the events and until he had to go to the party, Max had thought about all the things he could say to you to make it up, but now next you, his mind was absolutely blank. The two of you were quite for a moment, but to your surprise it did not feel unpleasant. And then, Max broke the silence.
„Listen, I am very sorry for our first meeting, I behaved like an arrogant asshole.“ You did not know why, but this statement made you laugh out loud. And Max did not know why, but it felt like that was the best reaction you could have showed – presuming that you were not laughing about him. “Let me be honest, if I wouldn’t have attended your press event, I would possibly still think that you are an arrogant asshole. That event really saved you ass!” Max now grinned as well.
“I am glad I got to save my reputation. But again, I am sorry. After the race my mind doesn’t work so well.” You nodded understandingly. “Really, no worries, Max. I am quite glad you are not that arrogant.” “How is that?”, the Dutch man looked at you. “Because I would have been disappointed in my own taste. Because quite frankly, you are very handsome and exactly my type!”, you laughed.
Max was stunned for a moment. He had rarely ever met someone as upfront and self-confident as you. “Well, thank you for your compliment, I can give it right back. The moment I first laid eyes on you, I was rather enchanted by you. You actually helped me win the race!” “No way!”, you grinned, “How?” Max blushed a bit. “The moment I laid eyes on you, I suddenly felt very calm and collected, I cannot really describe it. It helped me focus, and I somehow knew I had to win, even if it was just to impress you.” “That is really sweet, Max”, she said with a genuine smile on her face.
Suddenly, a gush of wind hit the pair of you and you shivered. Max reacted immediately and put his jacket around you. “You should have kept the sweater on, it suited you very well. Especially because it had my name on it.” You laughed and playfully hit his shoulders. “Max Verstappen, you are unbelievable!” Max grinned at you, and then he even winked. “Jokes aside, you look absolutely stunning, today and tonight. You are clearly taking after your father!” You shook your head.
“I like this Max better than the bragging one. You make me laugh, and I appreciate that a lot. So, I can definitely say you that you are not only my type look wise...”, now it was your turn to wink at the man. Max looked at you, and suddenly there were butterflies in your stomach. “Well, I can only give that back, so how about you go on a date with me?” “I would love nothing more than that, Max.”

Spilling All the Secrets

No one knew exactly who was the cause of the newly employed "grid psychologist", they just knew that one had been hired and the entire grid was required to sit down for a meeting to establish a "baseline".
There was a reasonable amount of pushback, but with a lot of convincing from the team principles, everyone had agreed to their individual meetings, they all just had to be introduced first.
"Ok folks, the responsibility has been given to me to introduce you all to the FIA appointed psychologist that you will all be meeting with once a week between media duties on Thursday," Toto explains, glancing to Christian who stands behind him, the two most imposing of the principles assigned to wrangle the drivers. "This is Ms. Beatrix, she pursued a degree in psychology from Harvard, earning her masters from the same institution, digitally."
"Given her degree and understanding of human behavior, as well as a special knowledge of Formula 1, she will be a fantastic addition to the paddock," Christian adds, nodding offstage to a woman with blonde curls piled on her head in a clip, a white button up tucked into black pants, absolutely no clear association to any team. "Come on up, miss."
"Please, just call me Bea," Bea addresses not only the principles but also the crowd, consisting of 20 men who devote their lives to speed. "And hello, it's a pleasure to be here with you all," She greets the boys in what sounds like a Dutch accent. "As you have been made aware, you will each be meeting with me once a week, just to chat. Whether you want to tell me all your deep dark secrets, " Cue an elbow to Max Verstappen from Lando Norris, "Or just use the time to cool down, either is perfectly okay with me. I'm not here to force you to talk, I'm here to make sure you're all in your best head space to safely do what you love."
"Does anyone have any questions for Bea?" Toto questions, looking over the boys.
"Don't be afraid boys, I don't bite," She assures, accent getting even thicker as her smile grows.
"Where are you from?" Logan is the one to speak up, Oscar shoving his shoulder at the bold question.
"I grew up in Zonhoven, Belgium until I was thirteen, and then went to boarding school at Château de Rosemont in near Paris," She answers, having no issue. "The accent just never got the message, if that's why you were asking Mr.Sargent."
"So you know who each of us is?" Carlos asks, one thick eye brow raised in question.
"I do. I was informed on the basics of each of you, Mr.Sainz."
"Will you be traveling with us?" Oscars voice is the next to ask, a faint blush covering the woman's face.
"I will," She answers, nodding gently. "My daughter and I will be traveling with you from race to race."
"Daughter?" Checo asks, accent as thick as his judgement.
And she can't help but sigh, "Yes, my daughter. She's almost 8 months," She confesses, and although you can sense the insecurity, the twenty-two year old smiles at the thought of the baby, their baby.
"Well, I think I can speak on behalf of the whole grid that we look forward to sitting down with you," Lewis says, making her smile.
"As I all of you. Prepare to spill all the secrets."

i've been summoned to speak about prof! gojo, because aaa, it's sososo good!
he would be so liked by his students, not only because of his looks, but also because he's great at teaching and has such great approach to his students
i believe that he would give his students the weirdest things and assignments to do, and all his students would be like "wtf are we even doing" and then he would be all grinning and being proud of himself and go on to explain what this was supposed to teach them, and everyone would be like "ooooh". he totally has the most unconventional but great teaching methods!
lemme just say that his office is a bit of a mess, but like organized mess? like if you ask him to find a black pen, he would be like "there it is!", and he doesn't bother cleaning it up, unless absolutely necessary.
he isn't afraid to wander off the point to talk about something silly, like a movie he watched recently, or some food he tried (he would totes give his student his really random recommendations), or make some jokes to loosen up poor stressed students.
just because he's liked doesn't mean he's not respected. oh no no. he isn't afraid to put somebody in their place if they're out of line either towards him or other people. and his tests are annoyingly difficult, but only to people who like didn't do anything at all, because if someone paid minimum attention in his class, they would know something because he says stuff in such easy to remember way, or makes some jokes about it that are easy to recall, or just simply says to remember it because he likes to ask about it on tests.
i'm not sure how he'd get interested in reader, because i frankly like too much the idea that someone else offered here of her correcting some formula on test/exam, and him taking interest in her because of that, and i'll stand by it! but i do think that it'd be cool if reader's maybe main focus wasn't physics, but like chemistry or just something else, and she only takes physics because it's mandatory, not that she doesn't like it! and gojo would be like "girl, no, you have too much talent" and go from there

I completely agree!! prof gojo would have very interesting teaching methods 😭🫣 he would make his students do ridiculous things but then it would pay off in the end (at least most of the time).
despite that he’s a good teacher that truly does care for his students. his office is organized chaos as you described (mine is too honestly, I know where shit is but it’s a hot mess). he would def be the type to call people out in class but only if it’s deserved or he really wants them to do well (but also because he’s a bit of a goof and likes to be a bit savage)
haha well since reader is a department head she may have a different speciality but she def would understand the principles of physics :)

Being a wife isn’t going to save you from misogyny. Motorsport has a really bad fucking reputation in general, Formula One, specifically in all of its subsidiaries has been pushing for close to two decades, the inclusion of more gender diversity within its ranks. However, when you take into account, the fact that it’s reputation is fucking horrible. no amount of PR noosed  statements about the funnel theory is going to change the fact that there are not enough women in motorsport.  The reputation and the stereotypes are not at all unfounded or baseless, unlike, however, the accusations made recently about Susie Wolff. 
It is an absolute privilege to the highest degree to be able to travel all over the world for close to half the year and work at the pinnacle of motorsport. Regardless of how smart you are, or how familiar you are with the industry, it is still a privilege. So when we talk about women in motorsport, most often will hear about team principles and drivers being asked these questions of “why do they think there aren’t enough women in the industry” most likely you’ll hear the same statement, changing the direction and  listing one to two common sense answers. “Well if you have already a small amount of women and girls involved in carting only so many people get to advance, or are able to.. It’s not about we aren’t letting women in. It’s just that there aren’t enough girls who want to.” I’m not going to ask some dumbass driver who didn’t finish high school, to fix the industries issue with gender diversity. My issue mostly lies with who these questions are getting asked to. Understanding that drivers are the face of their teams, yet not being able to expect them to give solid answers, tells us exactly how these people actually think. When you have team principles like Christian Horner, making comments about how the female fans of his sport are only there for the “hot drivers” when if we think about it, I don’t see how only three drivers are holding firm a close to 7 million increase in female viewer ship on their own.
In the depths of the fandom, already I’m seeing something that has been repeated time and time again. Formula One and the FIAs attempts to reach a broader audience in North America, going about it by putting a Band-Aid on a gaping wound, and releasing team statements, making the drivers talk about racism and misogyny within the sport. Appealing to the young will not actually fixing anything or making any sort of meaningful gestures isn’t going to keep an audience, especially when the audience you’re gunning for, has been known to flip-flop, follow the trends and abandon at the drop of a hat.  In general young women are smarter than perceived, but they’re still teenagers.  They’ll enjoy it for a little bit but once they see that this is not a welcome space for them, they’ll drop it no problem.  That’s the issue that Formula One and the FIA need to understand. You can’t beg for viewership and support from a group of people while simultaneously excluding them at every step of the conversation, and every step of the process, and doing absolutely nothing about the people making it an unwelcome space for them.

Why isn't Effy an INTJ 5w4?
In my opinion she is IF(S) / ISFP sp4w5sx VFEL
And now I will explain why:
At first glance, she may look like an INTJ, as she seems to be emotionally detached, in her own world, as if on a different wavelength. But this is not true.
High Te controversy
Effy's character is centered around her ambiguous motives, which emerge from her inner thought process and make life difficult for everyone around Eff. This is contrary to Te aux. They tend to form groups based on desires that stem from objective criteria.
Te types are defined by an intellectual formula based on objective, rational and logical ideals that are used both individually and collectively. Manifestations of this type include reductive and collective thinking, obsession with the principles of society. And if we apply this to Stonem , then we will understand that this does not work, from the word at all. Equating it with extraverted thinking is simply not logical, erroneous and not true.
Elizabeth never relies on her environment, she seeks to control and influence it.
But if not Te aux, then probably Ti? Nah, Effy is also completely devoid of it.
To classify her as a person who is looking for some kind of justification and a logical chain in her actions and evaluates situations on her own understanding is complete nonsense.
Effy does not interact with new information in any way in order to fit it into a logical system and look for a connection in it. She doesn't care if something makes sense or not, she only cares about what feels right to her and what's comfortable for her. Effy's judgments pass through the prism of subjective feelings and uses them as an objective measure of her sympathies.
That's sorted out, so now why is Effy Fi dom?
Fi dom in most cases are silent, inaccessible and others do not understand them: they seem cold and reserved, it may seem that they have no feelings at all. But in fact, their feelings are very intense. They are guided by their emotions and their true motives often remain a secret.
She is aloof, ambiguous, her judgment process is internal, with no desire to influence emotional experiences and impose her principles on others, because of this, it is difficult for others to truly understand her, no one understands what she feels and what she wants.
We were shown that Effy supposedly suffered for many years, because of this she is inaccessible and keeps everything to herself.
In Season 2 Episode 7, Stonem blackmailed Sid into completing an art project for her, but he was later handed over to Pandora. Because of this, Effy improvised her art project and presented her emotions, stating that her lack of preparation was "conceptual art". And when somehow people came to the conclusion that this scene was a sign of introverted intuition, just because she used the word “conceptual” when it is the embodiment of introverted feeling. Effy looks cold and unfeeling, but inside is a fire of emotion. She says she experiences many emotions but no one sees them, isn't that literally a Fi function? This quote captures the essence of Elizabeth's character.
She is observant and judicious as she seeks to form judgments and categories in order to change people and analyze perceptions based on these chosen criteria. In addition, in her character, emotionality is quite common.
Several people have claimed that Effy is supposedly out of touch with reality because she is detached from her interactions with Pandora and Julie from the first season, but this is not only false (since Effy can reasonably answer Pandora's questions by watching what happens). This is a look at Stonem's friendship with two girls. While we see Effy eventually getting closer to Pandora, it's pretty clear that Effy hangs out with Julie and Pandora because they're willing to do whatever she says, they don't pose a threat to her popularity and she used them to feel better.
A lot of people call Effy someone who is out of touch with material reality and lives in her imagination, and that's just not true. The fact that Effy conveys the appearance of a cold, mysterious and withdrawn person does not automatically make her aloof intuitive. There was simply no time when Effy wandered into the realm of her linear vision of the world or focused on abstraction. Just be in silence or think with an intuitive process and activity.
With raw observation, Se is also focused on sensory stimuli and the pleasure of feeling. When we get to know Effy, it's quite clear that Effy is quite bored when she doesn't indulge in forms of pleasure, even when she ignores her friend, she is still bored, looking for something to keep her busy, be it playing with her lighter on the bus or flirting with a stranger on the same bus, because of this, she looked for stimuli in the outside world, and not looked for them in the realm of intuition.
And you might think “God, this is just a low Se or Ni transition at home into stress!”
Many who type her as INT* have come to the conclusion that Effy's craving for stimuli was the result of a lower Se and a desire for physical escapism. Which doesn't make absolute sense when you think about it, for various reasons. The main reason is that Effy didn't experience much stress in her first season episode, there was no need to run away with physical stimuli or an excessive need for sensations to help her stress. This was simply the result of her ideal that sensual enjoyment is the manifestation of life. Ultimately, this is Effy's primary way of perceiving.
The fact is that an introverted intuitive is often not aware of external factors, so he tries to be more careful. He can lie a lot, simply because he has his head in the clouds and does not notice the real world, he misses a lot of external factors and simply does not accept them. Effy, operates primarily with objective facts. As an example, when three guys are addicted to her, she gives them a list or a receipt of mushrooms, etc...

Why Effy VFEL?
You can find fault with the fact that, Fi dom can not be with 1V. But do not forget that this does not work for fictional characters that are not particularly well written / and developed (Effy is one of them). In principle, it is difficult to fit her into any kind of typology framework.
Effy cannot be E1V3, such a type has through measured emotionality, one might say hysterical. (3v makes the first function hyperactive) Elizabeth, on the contrary, hides her emotions very well, yet 3V is not like it, because Eff does not need decision support, she doubts nothing, she follows her whims and does as she wants, which is typical of 1V3E . 3E is perfect for her, as she hides and suppresses her true feelings and holds them until she breaks, she seems cold and filters her emotions by hiding them, unlike 1E. As Effy, 3E does not show much of her inner world and emotions, so she acts cold and heartless, although we later learn what she really has inside and how much is hidden there.

I focus here on the famous theory of “oral drive” which Freud first theorized, and Lacan successfully developed further in his psychoanalysis. In The Four Fundamental Concepts of Psychoanalysis, Lacan describes the oral drive in the primitive phase: “Even when you stuff the mouth—the mouth that opens in the register of the drive—it is not the food that satisfies it, it is, as one says, the pleasure of the mouth” (167). According to Lacan, through the function of the pleasure principle, the oral drive is never satisfied with food or objects, but with the act of eating itself. For example, even as an infant suckles the mother’s breast, they cannot obtain the breast itself, but their oral drive gets satisfaction and revolves around the breast. The Titans exist in an oral phase of development. Because they are driven to desire by pleasure of the mouth, by the satisfaction of eating, they are ruled by the pleasure principle and have no choice but to satisfy their oral drive. The Titans’ manner of eating humans is very primitive and infantile, as they are shown sucking blood or throwing up when full due to their lack of digestive organs (AT 4, 73-74), and such depictions surely bring us feelings of displeasure. Fig. 6 shows the ugliness and infantile mannerisms with which a Titan sucks human blood. They continue to suck all of the blood until their oral desire is satisfied. However, they do not turn their consciousness towards anything else. Additionally, onomatopoeias like the sucking sound “ヂュ” (“slurped”) give the picture a gross vividness and transmit to the reader this fear and unpleasantness. Despite their mature human appearance, the Titans, like children, behave in an animal manner toward their diet, a dissonance that heightens the fictional world’s unusual and uncomfortable nature.

However, even when Titans do not eat, their immortality stops them from dying, which relates to Lacan’s studies on the objet petit a. He defines the objet petit a when he writes, “To this breast in its function as object, objet a cause of desire, in the sense that I understand the term—we must give a function that will explain its place in the satisfaction of the drive. The best formula seems to me to be the following—that la pulsion en fait le tour. (The drive moves around the object.)” (Les Quatre 168). The oral drive is never satisfied despite eating, because the subject always lacks the object of desire, the objet petit a, which we can in no way take into ourselves and therefore lack forever. Volume 12 suggests that the Titans are wandering the world on a never-ending quest for the lost original Titan, as though the Titans are seeking out the objet petit a.

attempting to explain stoichiometry
💗hello everyone💗 stoichiometry is a concept that is crucial to chemistry, and really is used with all other sciences, but it can be difficult to understand so I hope I can try to explain <3
even if you don't end up getting the math, all you need to know is the general formula for all stoichiometry is (if your conversion values are equivalent...)
original value with given units * (conversion value but with the units you want / conversion value with given units) = original value but with the units you want
why does this work? if your conversion values are equivalent, then when you divide them by each other, it's gonna equal 1, and when you multiply something by 1, you get an equal value! moreover, when we write it like this, our original
while we apply this concept to chemical equations, you have probably been doing it intuitively your whole life, for example...
1 hour * (60 minutes / 1 hour) = (1 hour * 60 minutes)/(1 hour) = 60 minutes
at first glance, if you thought of it math-wise, you might not think that 60 minutes equals 1 hour, however we all know that there are 60 minutes in 1 hour :) we can use this kind of model to calculate more complicated
3 hours * (60 minutes / 1 hour) = (3 hours * 60 minutes)/(1 hour) = 3 * 60 minutes = 180 minutes
notice how we cancel out the units, but not the 3, because there's nothing to divide the 3 by on the bottom!
however, our conversion factors won't always be neat like this. think about at a grocery store, you can buy a combo box of 3 oranges and 2 apples for five dollars. you need 9 oranges for a recipe, and you want to know how many apples are gonna come with that because you don't need them and want to give them to a friend. since these come as a package (as in, for every 3 oranges you will get 2 apples (think back to how for every 1 hour we have 60 minutes) they will be equivalent stoichiometrically) we can write out an equation like this:
9 oranges * (2 apples / 3 oranges) = (9 oranges * 2 apples)/(3 oranges) = (9 * 2 apples)/(3) = (18 apples)/3 = 6 apples
while we probably would never do this kind of equation to solve this in real life, we are applying the same concepts when we do this kind of easy math in our head. that exact point shows how easy it is to use stoichiometry in application to chemistry, for example...
Mg + 2F -> MgF2
if we want to find how many MgF2 (magnesium fluoride) molecules we can make with say, 2 moles of magnesium (assuming we have an infinite store of fluorine), we can write this equation as...
2 moles of magnesium * (2 moles of fluorine / 1 mole of magnesium) = 4 moles of fluorine
notice how we use the same principle as the apples and oranges! for every one magnesium molecule (or in this case, 1 mole, but it doesn't matter because we're just worried about the ratio) we would need two fluorine molecules just to make the one molecule of magnesium fluoride!

So in this episode, Giru has betrayed Goku, Trunks, and their three Dragon Balls to General Rildo.  Only Pan remains at large, and apparently the Machine Mutants don’t even bother trying to capture her.  So she’s on her own, and she tries to find Goku and Trunks by sneaking around the city.
This seems like a make-good for Episode 15, which was another Pan-centric episode that failed to deliver on the promise of Pan getting a big hero moment.  But Episode 17 has the same malfunction, because even though we see Pan sneaking around M2, she never actually seems to get anything done. 
First, Pan disguises herself as a bush, which... seems conspicuous in a city made entirely of metal.  And there’s a decent gag where she gets trampled by a parade of Machine Mutants, although if they don’t notice the bush, I’m not sure they’d notice Pan either, so this seems kind of off to me.

Then Pan finds a factory that makes new robots, and she uses some spare parts to disguise herself as one of them.  That works well enough for her to watch the ceremony where General Rildo awards Giru with the Medal of Honor, but it doesn’t help her get any closer to saving Goku and Trunks.

But Pan’s disguise fails when she’s ordered to go on a security patrol, and the other robots expect her to walk through a metal wall.  This is something Machine Mutants seem to be able to do, although I don’t understand what the point of it is.  Pan can’t do it, though, but the robots don’t see through her disguise.  Instead they toss her into a disposal compartment with the other defective robots.  There, she meets one reject who tells her that Dr. Mu created all the Machine Mutants, who then wiped out M2′s original population.  Mu apparently has ambitions to do the same to the rest of the universe.

This is kind of interesting, but it doesn’t get Pan any closer to finding Goku and Trunks.  Fortunately, the reject knows where they are, but I don’t see how it could know that when it’s been sitting in a trash compactor this whole time.

Pan tries to get to the top of the building where Goku and Trunks are supposed to be, but she’s intercepted by Nuts of the Mega Cannon Sigma team.  While Pan has been infiltrating M2, General Rildo and the Sigmas have been studying Goku and Trunks’, and they discovered that their power is too great to be measured.  This makes Rildo nervous, because he’s not sure they could defeat such enemies without taking some serious damage, but he can’t just kill the prisoners either because Dr. Mu specifically ordered them kept alive for study.  Luckily, Giru has been recording footage of the GT crew in action, and he offers to upload it into the Sigma team so they can analyze the data and get a leg up in a possible conflict. 
So when they find out Pan is in the building, Nuts volunteers to stop her by himself, thinking it should be a cake walk.  He stymies her with his power to move freely inside metal walls, and he can anticipate all her moves...

But when he tells her Giru gave him the data he needed to defeat her, she flips out and powers up beyond anything his analysis was prepared for, and she blows him up in one hit.

I think Nuts is dead, but normally they have the bad guy explode into a million pieces when this happens, and for some reason Toei went out of their way to show Nuts fall to the ground in one piece.  Did they balk at the idea of Pan killing someone?  Nuts never appears again after this, so I’m not sure it matters.

So she makes it to the lab where they’re holding Goku and Trunks, and she rescues them, right?  Wrong, Goku had already woken up on his own, and when Pan busts in, one of the Sigma Force takes her down with one hit, and that pisses Goku off just enough for him to break free. 
It’s another example of Kozo Morishita’s principle of Pan getting into trouble so that Goku can get her out of it.  Which is repetitive and formulaic, but at least serviceable, until you try to showcase Pan. Then it just wrecks an otherwise sensible Pan story. 
What’s especially stupid about this is that Toei has now made this mistake twice.  It makes all the sense in the world to do episodes focusing on each member of this GT trio.  Trunks really hasn’t gotten a chance to shine, but they should have done an episode or two where he does.   Pan’s actually gotten two, with a few more coming later, but they’re all hamstrung by this stupid rule about her needing to be rescued.  Actually, this might explain why Trunks never gets much emphasis in this series.  The chief dynamic with this series is about Goku saving Pan, so if they did a Trunks-focused episode, there’d be no one to save anyone.  But that’s stupid, because they’re the ones who made Trunks a main character!

I’ll give credit where it’s due: This episode actually let Pan win a fight and kill a bad guy.   Nuts is just a minor henchman, but seriously, this is more than a lot of the Z-Fighters got in the movies.  “Tree of Might” was crawling with disposable henchmen, and they all ended up getting fed to Goku.  So this is kind of a big deal. 
Unfortunately, Pan needs more than one victory under her belt.  If she could have actually rescued Goku here, that would have been much better, but she also needs multiple accomplishments across multiple episodes to further her character arc.  Trunks is underutilized too, but let’s be clear about this.  Pan started this series by expressing a desire for respect, and this trip through space was supposed to be her way of earning that respect.  Every episode where she doesn’t do stuff like killing bad guys or saving Goku or flying the ship?  It undermines her character arc.   Ignoring Trunks is a mistake as well, but it’s less of a mistake, because they really only brought him along to fly and repair the ship, and that’s what he’s been doing so far.  He could do more, but no one expected him to. 
✨Is this episode worse than “The Roaming Lake”?✨
At least Goku didn’t sleep through “The Roaming Lake”.  Yeah, this episode was worse for a lot of the same reasons Episode 15 was worse.  Pan spends a lot of time trying to do something big, only for her efforts to come to naught. I guess her failure got Goku fired up enough to save himself, but that’s just dumb.
