Pirate AU (Part Nine)

Kamala sought out Grace as soon as she returned back to their own ship. 

It wasn’t a difficult task, Grace was always lurking down near the lower levels when Kamala tried to find her. She desperately needed to talk to her before Tatiana recovered, before Tatiana tried to get into her daughter’s head as she always did.

“Grace!” She called, making her way down the winding pathways.

Before she could shout again she caught a glimpse of her, sitting cross legged on one of the empty beds that was meant to belong to a military official. Like most things in their life, the ship was stolen.

“What do you want?” Grace sighed irritably.

“You can’t be enjoying this,” Kamala said softly, approaching the girl carefully. 

“Why wouldn’t I be? They deserve it after all.”

“Oh? Alastair Carstairs deserved to be jailed and sent to trail?”

Kamala was worried about him too. She knew the London government wouldn’t take mercy on a dark-skinned foreigner, especially one with a vague backstory that could easily crumble upon closer examination. 

Grace stiffened, discomfort seizing her face for a moment. “If that’s what it takes.”

“I know you think that your mother is right, that these families deserve to suffer. But Tatiana lies.” 

“They killed my family,” Grace hissed. “Why should I have mercy?”

“Tatiana may not be responsible for her husband’s death but she certainly played a role in her son’s death.” 

Her eyes went wide. “Jesse?” Suddenly there was no hostility in her voice anymore. Just pain.

“Before I joined Tatiana I tried to dig up information about her. She let Jesse become sick and she let him die. Some sort of crude point to the Herondales, that if they wronged her they would have blood on their hands. And when that wasn’t enough she went after their children. Please Grace. I’ll prove it to you if I have to,” She gently laid a hand on the younger girls shoulder.  “But don’t let your mother take another child’s life.”

Alastair inwardly groaned when he heard the door open once more. It had been doing that all morning, or at least, he assumed it was morning. He wondered if all prisoners were told so little about their situations. Even more unfortunately a rather unpleasant man was questioning him. 

“Where were you born?” Charles Fairchild asked, his bright red hair giving Alastair an intense headache.

“Paris,” He responded, which was true enough.

Charles gave him a skeptical look which he leveled with a glare. Honestly were all English people so dim-witted? 

“I would like to speak with my sister,” Alastair said before Charles could question his place of birth further. 

“You are in no place to make demands.” 

Alastair smiled lightly. Careful not to reveal anything true, he leaned forward. “Aren’t I? Fairchild, the youngest of the two is known to frequent scandalous places but the eldest is a reserved politician with a lovely fiance. So why was said eldest Fairchild seen multiple times near a bar reserved for rather improper activities among the youth? I could dig deeper if I wished but I don’t believe either of us want that.”

Charles had turned an alarming shade of red. At least he matched his hair now. 

“So,” Alastair said tilting his head to one side. “My sister?”

Cordelia’s first choice for any venture would’ve obviously been Lucie, but she found herself quite amused in Ms. Lightwood’s company. 

“You seem to be quite distracted lately,” Cordelia started, her voice low but clear in the chatter of the London streets. She’d been beyond relief to get a permit to visit her brother earlier in the morning, but she felt nerves build up thinking of what was to come. 

“Haven’t we all?”

“Not in that way,” Cordelia responded, grinning when Eugenia’s face flushed. 

“And you are an exception? Is staring at Lucie a hobby of yours then?”

Cordelia sputtered, and Eugenia laughed. 

“So I was right! Delightful. Tell me all about it darling.”

Cordelia’s face heated up. She knew she wasn’t being subtle with her yearning but she hadn’t expected someone to pick up on it quite so fast. “I don’t know what to say about it-or to her. The timing of it all seems horrendous. I don’t even know how she feels about me. We’re friends aren’t we?”

Eugenia snorted, “Oh you’re certainly more than friends. I don’t see you wistfully gazing at me or Thomas.” 

“You and Thomas seem to have your own people to gaze at,” She retorted, smiling when Eugenia stopped talking. She wanted to ask but she also didn’t want to push.

“We’re here,” Cordelia said, instead regarding the building with distaste. “Stuffy nobles and their stuffy rooms with their-” She broke off and looked guiltily at Eugenia. “I apologize.” 

Eugenia simply looked amused as they stepped inside, following the person leading them to the jail room. “Don’t apologize. I’m rather tired of it myself. I wish-” 

She was cut off by their guide opening the doors and saying “Five minutes. That’s all.”

Cordelia pushed past him, running to where her brother glanced up from his book, a half amused, half worried look on his face. Where he managed to get a book in prison was beyond her. She wrapped her hand around the metal bars.

“What do we do?” She whispered, horrified by the desperation in her voice. “How do we get out of this?”

Alastair didn’t respond for a moment, brief concentration flickering over his face before he responded, “The trail will be private. I have an idea but you’ll need to create a distraction for me.”

“Distraction? Of what kind?”

“Anything that will take their eyes off me.” Then he stopped. “But please Layla, do try not to destroy the entire city in the process.” 

She glared at that, flicking his arm lightly though inside, she felt a bit of worry dissipate. “Fine. I will. Will you be alright? This prison seems rather cramped.”

“There are worse.” 

“I suppose so.” Her voice went low. “Did they hurt you? On the ship?”

“No. They didn’t.”

Cordelia wanted to believe her brother but Alastair had mastered the art of spinning stories to soften both his pain and hers. Before she could push any further she felt Eugenia’s hand grip her shoulder. Cordelia nodded, pulling away from the cell.

“A distraction. We can manage that.”

Lucie tapped her fingers anxiously against the counter she was seated on, the repetitive noise drowned out by the chaos that was Christopher’s lab. She wasn’t entirely sure why she had come down to her cousin’s laboratory but she quite enjoyed it. There was something soothing about the disorder. Thomas had accompanied her, now sitting next to Chistopher, anxiously watching the controlled fire.  

“Christopher!” She called, waiting for him to glance up from his notebook where he was furiously scribbling something down. “What would be your advice,” She started, choosing her words carefully, “to someone who needs to confess something, but isn’t sure how to go about it?” Thomas looked up as if he too was interested in the answer.

Christopher put down his pen, tilting his head. “This is about Cordelia?”

Lucie choked, nearly slipping off the counter. “Why- why would you-”

“I thought everyone knew,” He said, giving her a perplexed look.

Lucie had no response to that. She stared at the ceiling, willing her face to stop flaming. The door swung open and it took every ounce of her will to not run out of the room when she saw Cordelia and Eugenia step in.

“You’re here!” Cordelia exclaimed, smiling.

Lucie just nodded faintly, glaring at Eugenia’s knowing smile.

“We needed to get something, do you think you could help us?” Cordelia asked, looking at Christopher.

Christopher lit up, listing off ideas rapidly. Lucie smiled and crossed over to where her friends were seated, listening to him talk excitedly.

“Do you need help?” Lucie asked, once they had all reached a general consensus.

Eugenia and Thomas had to return home, worried that their parents would notice such a lengthy absence but Cordelia and Lucie opted to stay with Christopher. 

When he shook his head, Cordelia piped in “Explain it to us then? My brother talks often about criminal forensics and I would like to recognize at least some of the words he uses.”

“You wish for me to tell you about it?” He sounded surprised, causing an uncomfortable twinge in Lucie’s heart.

It was often that when Christopher talked of science or her of writing, their friends would cease to pay attention, Thomas being an exception. To have someone care about something you cared for… Lucie smiled to herself and nodded.

“We would.”

A start

Let’s start somewhere shall we?

The German language is generally considered quite hard because of it’s grammar - which is understandable. If you are a monoligual English speaker you have never encountered the different complexities that are going to show up. But have no fear-! All of these things have been learned before and can be learned by you if you aspire to. I am not going to make this blog a step-by-step blog to learn German - I simply don’t have neither the time nor the patience to do that. But I will guide you to some free sources to get started to be able to follow along with other things I’ll be talking about in the future, and these are both things I’ve come across in my studying and also things I wish I had found earlier.

BOOKS (pdfs)

german language course - Simply named German Language Course is a pdf book that is written by several collaborating authors in an effort to create a beginner’s guide to the German language. It’s constantly being improved but the newer version here is lacking a bit and the original release from 2006 linked above is a bit more put together but choose from your own accord.

basic german - Basic German, a text/work book for grammar! Really- there’s a lot of grammar in there but it’s quite easy to navigate and can be useful for anyone learning the language or the grammar. 

mein-deutschbuch.de - Mein Deutschbuch is technically a website but nevermind that. It offers lists of different grammar rules and gives you excercises to practice your grammar. The only downside is that everything is in german. It’s great for more advanced learners though.

pdfdrive.com/german-language-books - And here’s a link to many other free books that can be downloaded.  

YOUTUBE CHANNELS (for language learning)

Get Germanized - A youtube channel dedicated to teaching it’s viewers German and also about the German culture. There are full course German videos only focusing on exposing and teaching as well as shorter videos with cultural comparisons and entertainment. 

Easy German - Easy German publish videos for both advanced learners and beginners. They focus much on teaching spoken German but also talks about grammar,  and they offer new vocabulary. 

Learn German - A channel that uses a simple artstyle to explain different parts of the German language. The channel also sorts their videos after language level so even for someone in level C1 might find something useful in there.   

Learn German with Herr Antrim - Herr Antrim wants to teach you German for free. His videos brings up grammar, pronounciation, and tak about the German culture.

Besides these channels you also have plenty of videos repeating german phrases and vocabulary for when you sleep (can’t really recommend to sleep while you listen to them) and you can sit down and take a few notes from those too if you want to become familiar with the sounds and some of the phrases.

YOUTUBE CHANNELS (for entertainment and exposure)

Hi From Hamburg - Lila is an american who moved to Hamburg and is making videos talking about her experience with it and she makes a lot of videos for simple entertainment. Her channel is one of the few English ones I’m going to include in this list. 

Dinge Erklärt - Kurzgesagt -  Kurzgesagt is a channel with pretty animation explaining different concepts, ideas, and myths in our modern society today. They talk about philosophy, science, religious ideas, psychology, and more.

maiLab - MaiLab is a scientific channel in German. In their videos they talk about various topics within biology, chemistry, psychology, or of different concepts and myths in society today.

Related to maiLab are also channels like Quarks and MrWissen2go.

100SekundenPhysik - For those who are into physics, this one can be intresting for you. 100SekundenPhysik brings up and explains physics, but in German and in short comprehensible videos. 

Dagi Bee - For those not as interested in science, here’s an entertainment channel (and a few more after this). Dagi Bee is a channel created for entertainment, she features music videos, make up and hair turtorials, reaction videos, vlogs and more.

Marvyn Macnificent - Marvyn makes entertainment and vlog videos; challenges, make up tutorials and reviews, collaborations (and videos with friends), and also different types of discussions of other social media figures.

Alycia Marie - This channel is for any make up and cosplay fan. Alycia’s channel is made up of make up tutorials, make up reviews and comparisons, as well as cosplay displays. She also have a second channel for her music.

Other channels like Dagi Bee and Alycia Marie is for example Luisa Crashion and Jasmin Azizam

DoctorBenx - A look into the gaming part of youtube and we have DoctorBenx as a prominent figure on the list. His videos consist of him playin games such as Minecraft and Roblox but also GTA5 and simulator/indie games. He works closely with the youtuber AwesomeElina.

Vlesk - If anyone’s still into Among Us you’ll want to check out Vlesk who almost exclusively makes videos of said game at the moment. His channel is rather young still but the older videos are him playing TTT in Garry’s Mod. 

Zombey - For those more intrested in playthroughs, Zombey is more appropriate. His channel features many different games such as Demon’s Soul and Fall Guys. 

APPS

Duolingo - Duolingo is always mentioned when it comes to these things, but it’s a good app. It provides a simple, almost game-like, format that helps you practice different concepts in your target language.

Memrise - Can’t forget Memrise on this list. Memrise uses video clips of real life people using the language to get you to associate the phrases with the situation and to get you to immerse yourself with the language. 

Drops - Drops focuses on visual learning, getting your brain to associate the vocabulary you’re exposed to with the pictures and symbols on the screen. The app is great for learning new vocabulary and you can choose yourself which topic to start with.

Wordbit German - WordBit German is useful for vocabulary exposure. You download it and every time you open your phone a German word is shown on the screen and you can mark different word by familiarity.

HelloTalk - This app helps you to reach out to native speakers of your target language and you can also help others seeking to learn your language. You can send voice messages, make corrections and translate the messages directly. The app can be used for free, but there are many functions that are limited without paying. Other similar apps are also available (often with lower quality but they are free). 

PODCASTS (language learning)

Slow German - The journalist Annik Rubens talks about everyday topics and phenomenons in the german culture and society in short recordings. Perfect to practice your listening comprehension as a beginner and get used to the new parts of the phonology - and it’s available on Spotify. 

Easy German - They also have a podcast! They also talk about the german culture but also topics relevant to the rest of the world, though in a bit more natural speed and with a bit more relaxed manner. (Available on Spotify)

Radio D - Unfortunately not available on Spotify but it is easily found with just a google search (and by the attached link). The podcast is made for complete beginners, guiding you throughout different scenarios and settings and building up your understanding and basic knowledge of the language. Transscripts are also available for download.

Coffee Break German - A series of lessons where the listener, together with the English speaking host Mark, gets to learn German phrases and vocabulary from scratch with the help of Thomas. Each episode is between 20 to 30 minutes so get your pen and paper out to take effective notes. (Available on Spotify)

 You will come across many other podcasts, these are just a good place to start.

PODCASTS (for entertainment)

Eine Stunde History - With new episodes every Friday this podcast takes events throughout history and compare their relevance to today and the future. Perfect for those who have an interest in history. (Available on Spotify)

ZEIT WISSEN - Woher weißt Du dass? - The central theme being science, this podcast gives you a scientific perspective on a new question that is being explored every week. You want to know if humans can hybernate or what the consequenses of having sex with the neanderthals were? Not necessarily! But now you can! (Available on Spotify)

Verbrechen - This podcast features true crime, being led by Andreas Sentker and Sabine Rückert. Sabine is the one talking about the cases she’s been met with throughout her career in law enforcement. (Available on Spotify)

Biologie Passion Podcast - If you have a biology test coming up, if you want to repeat some long lost knowledge from school, or maybe you just have a passion for biology - then this is a good podcast for you. Christian Schweda is happy to teach (or reteach) you some biology. (Available on Spotify)

Eli’s Abitur Crashkurs - For those of you who are study freaks in general, you can visit Eli on Spotify! She has made a podcast on everything she has to study for during her Abitur. And the best thing is - they only come in 10-20 min episodes. But be aware for speedy speech. (Available on Spotify)

Die Copycats - Both on Youtube and on Spotify these guys talk about all sorts of nerdy things from video games to bad music and give their opinions on many other things. They’re quite small so go and give them a bit of love. (Available on Spotify)

#QueerAsBerlin - Not available on Spotify unfortunately. But as the title suggests is this podcast a commentary, interviews and a view on different aspects of social problems through the lens of the LGBTQ+ community in Berlin.  

Bin ich Süßsauer? - For my fellow asian LGBTQ+ people out there; this underrated podcast features an asian host in Germany, talking about different parts of LGBTQ (from what I understand the host themselves are trans and therefore the general theme) with different guests. Of course this can be enjoyed by anyone, just a small shout out for diversity. (Available on Spotify)

Schnapsidee - der Podcast über Liebe, Love & sexy sein - From the name alone you are most likely able to deduse the theme of this podcast. Anna and Paula talks about their love life, relationships, and sex! Their content is lighthearted and enjoyable to listen to. (Available on Spotify)

Dick und Doof - Without any real theme to their podcast, the two friends Sandra and Luca is having a great time, and we get to listen to their conversations about anything and everything. The both of them focus mostly on humour, sprinkled with an insight in their private lives. (Available on Spotify)

Alliteration am Arsch - Or AAA in foreshortening, features Bastian Bielendorfer and Reinhard Remfort who found themselves as friends after realizing the things they had in common and now we get to listen as the both of them discuss anything and everything through the lens of comedy. (Available on Spotify)

Hi could I have a Haikyuu match up please? Im a 5’3 demigirl who tends to change their physical appearance, A LOT. I find it hard to be in large social events and find it hard to make friends. I am diagnosed with ADHD and people find it difficult to keep up with my energy. I also suffer from depression. I use music to cope. I play trumpet in marching band and hope to become a musician for the rest of my life. Music is my everything and I can have an anxiety attack if I forget my headphones.

-Tsukki’s more reserved personality would go very well with your anxious one. There would be no need to go to crowded, plubic places and there’d be no need to introduce you to anyone new, so don’t worry!

-He would find your jumping around and not being able to focus because of ADHD adorable. It’d just give him another thing to tease you about! (As well as another thing to laugh at)

-Tsukishima would, no doubt, tease you and joke with you about your height. He finds you so small and adorable and wonders if it’s really livable that close to the ground.

-Lots of nicknames like “Gremlin” and “Spazz” (for you) and “Giant” and “Jungle-Gym” (for him)

-It may take some convincing, but Tsukki would definitely be a great candidate for Tik Tok challenges (such as the one of climbing around a person without touching the ground)

-Tsukki would ADORE your passion for music and would 100% support you in fulfilling your dreams

-Tsukishima would also expect you to support him as well, and that would mean going to every game you could

-This is where Tsukki’s pregrame ritual would start. He feels anxious whenever you guys don’t complete the ritual. The ritual would simply consist of Tsukki sitting on the floor, against a wall and you sitting between his legs, back to his chest, not saying anything and just sharing earbuds while he rests his chin on your head. It may be a little more pda than normal, but the scent of your hair calms his slight nerves before a game

-Little to no pda would ever occur. Tsukki also wouldn’t show any affection in front of his team. He thinks highly of their opinions and doesn’t want them to tease him OR you. So he gives you shoulder pats or head pats in front of the team and keeps all the hugs and kisses in private

-ALTHOUUGHHHH, he would definitely hug you back and walk out of practice if you came to him crying

-I feel like Tsukki constantly apologizes for being more reserved and to himself in front of the team after practice. He feels that he’s upsetting you by treating you differently around others, so he constantly apologizes and needs reassurance that it’s okay and that you understand

-I also think that, even though the team is highly against it, Tsukki would skip practice to be with you on days you had to do something that made you nervous. (Ex: doctor appointment) and he would stay up late the night before, making a playlist for you to listen to while he held your hand at the event

-I think Tsukki would be the type to call you during a depressive episode and make you stay on the line, just to make sure you were okay. Neither of you would have to speak and he would play soft music in the background and do homework while he listened to your soft snores. Him just knowing that you’re there and safe is enough for him

-If you call for him and ask him to come to you, he will, in a heart beat, but if you just want to be alone, he keeps his distance and focuses on himself for the time being

-Tsukki would FOR SURE say something to you about dinosaurs and after seeing that you were genuinely interested and wouldn’t laugh, he would talk about them for HOURS; a little sparkle in his eyes whenever you nodded your head to show him you were listening and that you cared

-Expect AT LEAST one museum date 

-I think that the lighthearted conversations of things like dinosaurs or famous musicians would slowly, but surely, go down the philosophical path. You would always end up talking about the start of the world (or the end) and things like death and the afterlife (or reincarnation)

-Tsukki would get really deep into these conversations and you both would go on for hours, never losing intrest

-I also feel like Tsukki would invite you on a album date. Like, he’d meet you at a small cafe, buy you lunch, and then take you to a vintage record store. You guys would just walk around for hours, listening to and looking at all the music choices, while joking around and laughing

-And if you were too short to reach a record, he’d chuckle at you and lift you up. Then he wouldn’t let you back down. He’d just hold you up for a minute, laughing whenever you got embarrassed and stuttered

-Tsukki would also definitely make tons of different playlists. One for each day of the week and one for each mood you could ever possibly be in

-CUDDLE SESSIONS: it’s required that you guys have one day a week to just hang out and listen to music while you cuddle. His rules, not mine

-I think the sessions would consist of him teasing you and you getting embarrassed, but you’d both enjoy it and itd be a permanent day of the week on both your schedules, no exceptions

-I think this scenario would happen at least once in your relationship: you would go to a volleyball game to watch the team play, but you’d walk in and all the shouting would make you anxious. So Tsukki, noticing, would mumble, “dont forget your earphones next time, dummy,” while he puts his own headphones on your head. This is where his calming playlist he made a few weeks ago would come in handy

-Tsukki may have his moments of anger and he may act like a jerk, but give him a few days and he will apologize. After seeing that his words had hit deeper than he thought, he will pick you up everyday for school the next week and would give you a gift every day. The first day would be flowers, and the second chocolates, and third a bear, and so on

-Tsukishima’s blocking skills have also made him very observant, so Tsukki will always notice things, even if you don’t want him to. He also has an amazing memory, so he will remember every little detail about you and will remember the names to all your favorite songs

-He wouldn’t expect you to show up to practice, but Tsukki always preforms at his best when you do. That’s why the team is always begging you to show up to practices and games alike!

-You meet a lot of amazing friends through Tsukki (like Bokuto and Kuroo) and often find yourself eating with Tsukki and the other first years at lunch, so you would slowly find yourself making friends and coming out of your shell

-Tsukki would love that fact because it woukd mean he got to see more of the loud, goofy side of you that he loves so much

-In the end, Tsukishima adores you and would protect you with everything he’s got. Just give the boy love and be understanding and patient, PLEASE

"alright sweetheart, I knew I wanted you on my team." one of the boys you had played with said while snaking an arm around your waist.

Although you were a pretty social girl you never, ever, liked it when anyone touched you without somewhat of an invitation from you. And you knew damn sure that you did not give this guy any reason to believe you wanted him to touch you.

"hey! I won this game for you. If you want any piece of this," you mentioned to yourself, "you're gonna have to try a whole lot harder than this" you finished pealing his arm away from you, dropping it like it was something dirty.

The guy scowled at you, but then raised his eyebrows at something behind you in shock. You finding this weird started frowning at him while waiting for an apology.

"one hell of a job winning that game, love" you heard a deep voice say behind you.

You turned around and finally understood what the douchebag was so surprised about.

"why thank you kind sir" you said while taking a bow. Then turning to Mr douche again."you could learn a thing or two from him" you pointed at the gorgeous man in front of you, who had a rather beautiful smile on his face.

"I'm Henry" he said.

Oh boy, I know! " I'm y/n."

"y/n, Nice to meet you. My brother said you did the durrell challenge this morning?" it was more a question than a fact when it came over his lips. Damn those lips.

"oh yeah, I went, I did, I left. Was fun. I'll do it again next year." you said.

Henry heard what you said but hearing you speak made his heart stop for just a second. Your voice soft and pleasant. The kind of voice he could listen to for hours and hours and never get enough of.

When she raised one of her perfect, yet natural looking, brows at him he knew he had been staring for a second too long.

"oh so you're a trained runner then?" trying to keep the conversation running.

She laughed. Not giggled. She full on belly laughed, even letting out a little snort in the middle of it.

"no, no I am definitely not. Just been getting into shape in the past year. With the run in the back of my head for motivation."she shrugged her shoulders as to say it wasn't something incredible she just did.

He knew how hard it was to do a 13k run. But her talking about getting in shape definitely had his mind going elsewhere. He wondered just how much in shape her body would be. Her dress looked beautiful on her but made sure that he had to make his imagination work. He could tell you weren't the tallest. Maybe not even the most skinny girl, but that could be deceiving. Piers:

You and Piers have known each other for as long as he can remember, he was always able to speak freely with you. You two were inseparable children since you met one another, the day this one boy/girl showed interest in what he liked and didn't find him weird in any insulting way. You'd both gone through the Gym Challenge together when you had been able too, Piers made for an amazing rival, and you two were constantly trying to grow from each other.

In the end, neither of you beat the Champion, but you both were proud of the other for making it so far. Later on, when Piers became a Gym Leader (much to your surprise), you would try your best to be there for his battles, support his wins and his losses. You knew his passions were in singing and song writing so you were also there to help with that to the best of your abilities. At times you were just there, watching him concentrate on lyrics, humming to himself, and you being there was enough to get him through an entire song on some occasions.

He didn't think much of it, not until recently did he realize he had feelings for you. He never thought he would be in this position where he wanted you to be his s/o. At first he thought it was a close friendship thing, or a sibling thing but Marnie pointed out that he was just denying something that was quite obvious. She was right, when he sat down and contemplated his emotions he knew Marnie was very accurate with her words.

He had no way to hide how flushed his face got around you nowadays, especially when you initiated any sort of physical contact with him. He did attempt to drop subtle hints that he liked you that slowly turned into more bold hints when you were not catching on to any of them. He hardly starts physical affection, it's out of his comfort zone, but he did just that for you to perhaps please take the hint. He would nervously grab hold of your hand, tucked hair behind your ear (if applicable)/or wiped food off your face, all actions he would not normally do. You noticed the new behavior he was exhibiting but it didn't cross your mind that it may have been because he had feelings for you. Even if the thought did appear in your head, you would be too afraid to ask in case you were just assuming things.

Piers thought he could be dense but you managed to convince him otherwise. He realized this after a particularly successful concert he had, for some reason it had a different energy than his other ones and it was one of his favorite times. You ran up to him after to give him a hug and tell him how amazing the concert was.

"Thanks," He replied a bit breathlessly. "(Name), I love you." He didn't know how his brain let him say those words, but he stared at you intently, waiting for a response.

"I love you too! What are friends for?" There was maybe a more direct way to tell how he feels. That felt direct enough but apparently what he meant behind those three words went over your head. He had to muster up some courage and express his feelings as bluntly as possible.

"(Name), listen," He said as he puts his hands on your shoulders, "I love you, I want to date you, I want you to be mine. Did that make sense?" He did his best to ignore his warm face as he kept his eyes looking directly into your widened ones.

"Yes, that made a lot of sense." He sounded a little frustrated as he told you this and understandably so. You felt kind of dumb since he probably had been pushing far beyond his comfort to tell you that and that's probably what the change of behavior was meant to imply to you. "I would love to date you and be yours as long as that means you'll also be mine."

"That's exactly what it means," He responded. Relieved, he smiled and pulled you into his arms. It was a different feeling to have you here now, it wasn't as casual and it was more intimate. Something he had been wanting to share with you for a long time.

Gordie:

You weren't much of a trainer when you were younger, unlike Gordie who was definitely going to participate in the Gym Challenge. You knew how to battle enough to help Gordie, but your interests were more in the science and care part of Pokemon. Melony got to watch you grow into a fine young person, someone that Gordie truly liked and couldn't hide it from his mother.

"Do you two remember when Gordie kept saying he would marry you, dear?" You covered your face with both your hands as Gordie smiled at the memory that his mother brought up. "You would always agree, I thought you two were really going to get married!"

"It was a childish thing from a long time ago," You said, waving your hands as if to dismiss her words. Melony knew the liking was mutual, she was keen on how her son felt and since you had also grown up a bit under her care, she knew how you felt. She never said anything though because not only was it quite funny when you would somehow find a way to connect Gordie's advances to friendship, she also wanted one of you to just confess to the other.

Gordie has been having feelings for you since forever, he knew it when you would always help him despite not following the same path he was, you were one of the first to know of him becoming a Gym Leader and you had your arms wrapped around him before he could even finish telling you.

He couldn't hide his intrest in you, he made it painfully obvious that he fancied you. Especially when you both had alone time, does not hesitate to cuddle you, kisses the top of your head when he can, sleeping in the same dang bed, and complimenting you until you couldn't even look at him because of how embarrassed you were.

Yet, your brain could either not identify signs of person wanting a relationship or you acknowledged them and didn't want to respond or didn't know how to. Please stop connecting everything to friendship is magic, (Name). He is begging in his head.

Gordie has always been physically affectionate with you, not as much as now but still, it didn't feel that different to you. Therefore, you remained clueless to many of his attempts to show you he likes you. You two took care of one another, had consistently been there for each other through almost everything, and he has never failed to provide comfort in whatever way you needed it. Yes, it felt like a couple thing but that's why you mentioned to him that whoever he ends up with will be a very lucky person.

"I want you to be that lucky person."

"What... what do you mean?"

"Do you have a boy/girlfriend?" He asked.

"No...?"

"I can change that."

"How... oh!" Realization hit you as if a Snorlax fell on you. "Are you asking if...? Well, do you want to be my... boyfriend?"

"That is precisely what I was asking and what I wanted you to ask me for a very long time."

Then there was absolutely no way you could associate the kiss he planted on your lips to any sort of friendship thing. He definitely wanted to be with you as a couple and that did not go over your head.

IT (1986)

What is it about? The Losers Club, a group of 7 kids that in different ways are outsiders among the other children in the little town of Derry must come back 27 years after defeating their worst fears embodied in a evil alien entity that has preyed on this small Maine town and its recidents since the dawn of time. Thoughts: - I have read this book a gazillion times and it’s my favorite Stephen King book of all time (though that may change once I finish this challenge, but only time will tell) everytime I read through its pages is like reuniting with an old dear friend, because most of the characters (read: the Losers Club) are just that for me, I read this book for the first time when I was 15 after growing up with the 90’s miniseries, and I loved it, that feeling hasn’t changed with the years and well I want to elaborate a bit on what I love about this book. - Derry’s history: One of the reasons this book is so damn big is that it delves on the history of this little town called Derry, of course this is to help the reader understand just for how long and how big is IT’s influence on the town, but I just found it so fascinating, I’ve always loved history, and this book just reaaaally fullfiled my needs in that aspect, the town’s history is full of gruesome events but it’s very intresting and through all the same. -Loser’s Club: I love this kids, we are introduced to them little by little through different POV’s and god, I just really like the diversity and complexity in them: a kid with a stutter, an asthmatic that is really a kid heavily manipulated by his overprotective mother, an overweight, a jewish with OCD, a girl victim of physical/emotional parental abuse, the class clown that most likely has ADHD, the only black boy in town… And what I love the most is that they are NOT defined by that, sure,that is how the world sees them but they are so much more than that and together they find their true identities: Stuttering Bill be comes the Leader, Asthmatic Eddie becomes the Compass, Fat Ben becomes the Constructor, Jewish Stan becomes the Logic, Poor Beverly becomes the Shooter, Trashmouth Richie becomes the Weapon (his voces physically hurt IT), Black Mike becomes the Historian. As well as the belonging and friendship they had never had before, their relationship is strong and beautiful, as a reader you will most often find some of yourself in them and even if you don’t you love them all the same for their flaws and virtues. -IT: I read somewhere that a story is only as great as its villian and in IT’s case that I think is only fitting, thus my love for is evil entity, because IT is really a big represantation of violence not necessarily(The Bradley Gang Shooting was afterall motivated by the Derry townsfolk rightgeousness) but mostly evil, IT transforms into awfull gruesome monsters yet his most terrifying act is the influence it helds on the people inhabiting Derry, on taking the violent nature of some people (Derry’s White Decency League, Eddie Corcoran stepfather’s, Alvin Marsh, Butch and Henry Bowers…) and exploit it for its own gain, IT is scary for it’s power, for the fact that one can really comprehend it’s magitude, and when we finally get to get inside it’s head we find something more akin to a beast, hungry and vengeful, he had turned lazy because he already had in Derry a comfortable feeding place and now wants to kill the Loser’s Club because for the first time in its long existance IT feels fear! and how wonderful is that? a group of scared isolated kids find strenght in each other to rid their Town and follow kids of this entity, even if they are afraid themselves, and they succeed in frightening a creature that literally feeds of fear. -The portrayal of the timelines and gruesome subjects: The 1950 are not usted only for aesthetics or praised as the “good old times” King shows a very gritty reality showcasing the racism (very prominent in Mike’s storyline), sexism, homophobia, domestic violence, anti-semitism,and it goes further yet showing that 27 years later these things haven’t changed and IT uses them for it’s benefit. The book doesn’t shy away from any of these things and often it is very hard to read through them but as well I think is important to read them to gain concience,they are not presented as good or romantiziced in any from or way, nor should they ever be (dude the anti-semitism in Patricia Uris’s POV is something that will open your eyes in many ways if you are not jewish, and the Black Spot story will horrify you but also help you understand it was not only the South of USA and the KKK that spread hate and horror for PoC people) this things are meant to horrify you thus I feel it would be a disservice not to read them (though I can understand if anyone simply can’t). -The bittersweet ending: Really heart breaking that after reuniting with the people they could really be themselves with the Loser’s Club are meant to not remember each other ( SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANNA SPOIL PART OF THE ENDING OF THE BOOK: as a side note and I do not mean this as hate to the ship or anything but a real doubt I have can anyone explain to me why is everyone saying/asuming Ben and Beverly did end up together?, I mean going by the 90’s miniseries sure, but in the book Mike only says she is going to Nebraska with Ben and then back to Chicago with Kay and that he thinks they are/will be having sex, but also later we find that even if they are in the same Town Mike and Bill have begun to forget each other and it’s heavily implied the same will happen with them all? and that is a very Stephen King thing to do I mean most of the book couples I’ve read from him have similar bittersweet endings so… Pls someone explain) I just always about cry about the End and you know the THING that happens with two of the losers. But also I am a ho for this kind of bittersweet stuff so of course I love it. -Richie and Beverly’s friendship: Listen I LIVE for them, of course I just about adore every Loser’s friendship (Bill/Eddie, Richie/Stan, Richie/Eddie, Richie/Bill, Mike/Ben, Stan/Bev duuuude everyone is amazing) but this two just about make me crazy about them, tbh I kinda lowkey ship them in a platonic kinda way, and I was endlessly frustrated by the lack of scenes between them in the 90’s miniseries after I read the book cuz booooy, the yo-yo scene is so goddamned amazing, Richie being the first POV in which Bev is mentioned and he reminds her through the lyric of a song, his Humphrey Bogart voice he does when speaking with her, how much he respects her, also Miss Sca'lett!!!, not to mention that sweet ass scene they have in the book “22/11/63” where Bev is teaching Richie how to swing for a school talent show, ahhhh Imma stop right there cuz I am fangirling waaaay to much and probably y'all think I am wierd for liking such an unpopular thing. -There is just one thing I always felt was completely unecessary to add and was gross to read (you already know what I am talking about and if not I’m not gonna spoil you/gross you out), I have read of course why SK did it but I still think he should have looked for another way to make the Losers enter adulthood : / Movie/TV Adaptations: There are 2: The ABC’s 1990 miniseries “IT” and the 2017 movie by Andy Muschietti “IT (chapter 1)” of course it has been already confirmed there is going to be another movie for the Second part but I will not to go too much into it now. 1990: The opinions on this one are very polarized, some love it with a passion, some hate it… I actually love it, and by that I do not mean is a perfect adaptation, but it was such an integral part of my childhood and family life that it would be impossible for me to hate it, and I feel most people are terribly unfair with it, because it is not a Bad adaptation like let’s say Kubrick’s Shining (yaa I’m going there) it had a lot of limitations in budget and technology and still managed to capture some of the best parts of the book (the Loser’s friendship mainly, it was beautiful) of course it wasn’t gorey or violent but in it’s time it was scary as hell, which beings me to Tim Curry’s performance as Pennywise that became so iconic people automatically recognize the clown’s design, for fuck’s sake Pennywise became one of the most iconic monsters of that time and terrorized an entire generation of kids and adults alike, of course it has it’s faults (the adult’s part wasn’t great, tho the scene with Bev in Mrs. Kersh house was great, and the ending was bound to be confusing af to people that didn’t read the book) but overall it was a good atempt and it already has a place in pop culture and the hearts of many horror fans. 2017: Oh boy I was really looking forward to this one since they anounced it was going to be a thing (ahhh remember the time Will Poulter and Cary Fukunaga were our only hope?) and just had the chance to see it today, because a lot of awful things happened in my country (I am mexican btw) and yeah, so I left the theater with a very pleasant sensation IT 2017 is a great movie and I LOVED it, the acting was GREAT everyone did amazing, Georgie’s death scene was simply amazing and so sad, the projector scene was wow, lots of winks to book readers like the turtle and Eddie Corcoran’s missing pamphlet, Bev’s bathroom scene, the rock fight!!!,Eddie changing Loser to Lover is iconic, some of Richie’s one-liners were amazing, Pennywise dance pfffftt, Ben was adorable with his crush and love of New Kids on the Block, the Losers,“they’re Gazebos they’re bullshit!” iconic, mainly I feel it captured the general feeling of the book however that does not mean I didn’t had some issues with it as well, first thing that bothered me a LOT is the treatment to Mike Hanlon, excuse the fuck out of me but no, they took his thing (history of Derry) and gave it to Ben (also Ben not constructing things like ??? Could have been a perfect chance to have him build lego stuff but k) where is my beautiful spring loving child?? I just couldn’t find any single trait on his character apart from the wierd sheep thing and his parents, which takes me to another issue why is every adult on Derry so shitty? Like yeah there was a lot of shady awful stuff in the book but there were also ok people namely Mrs. Starret (the librarian, that is so unnecesarily creppy? Wierd? In the movie), Richie’s parents (his dad is hillarious), Mike’s parents they are the best tbh, Mr Keene (ok this one is a sarcastic asshole but he did try to help Eddie instead of letting him keep on believing he was sick to keep selling stuff, and also was never a wierd pervert), Mr. Nell (dude I would have killed to hear Richie doing the Irish Cop voice), the Tracker Brothers (boy Eddie looking longingly at the baseball diamond would have been 10/10, my boy loved sports)… thing is the Losers did love Derry and some parts of their childhood in it and that’s were the nostalgia hits on part two, Stan well I loved they delved more onto his jewishness (a thing not much touched in the book because Stan’s family is not very strictly religious) but was very side lined as well ( in my opinion that part about Richie being scared shitless and Bill punches him would have fit Stan better, also almost all of the Losers got closure (Bev rebelled against her father, Ben kissed Beverly and she got to find out he was the one who wrote the haiku, Bill got to talk with Georgie kind of?, Mike stepped up against Henry, Eddie confronted his mother,Richie let go of his fear to kill the fucking clown…) yet Stan doesn’t I just think it would have been nice to have him iniciate the pact as he did on the book and also his bird book????, the slut shaming and over sexualization of Beverly (I won’t even go into how much it broke my heart to see/hear Richie saying all that stuff about her like no, he respected her a lot thx) just why change the white trash problem to a slut shaming thing???(also while his dad did not beat her in this movie he was so much more GROSS than in the 90’s) I am however not bothered by the ‘Kiss of Life’ trope nor do I think she was reduced to a damsel in distress if anything she was the bravest of them all, also some things not really bothered me but made me wonder what will happen in Chapter 2 namely wft is gonna happen with Henry is he alive?? Basically an amazing movie I was not disappointed at all and I would love to watch it again but as an adaptation I think I would still love to see a longish miniseries covering more of Derry’s history and the kid’s personalities/misadventures (of course I do not want THAT scene to be in any adaptation ever) but generally covering more book stuff. but hey all this is just my humble opinion and I admit I adore the book, though I am not closed off to changes just those things kinda made me go hmmmmmm…. Fandom(s): Deary me, I like way too many things!
