being a singlet who is very supportive of systems and has been for a long time makes some experiences really wild because like. ok so i experienced semi good rep of DID when i was very young. i read a brand new story by one of my favorite authors about a character with DID. the story started with the author saying it was likely not perfect representation and it's very important to listen to people with DID and not let his story overtake theirs. i had asked my mom about it and she said this was a real thing people experienced, but it probably wasn't super accurate in the story because the guy writing it didn't have DID. this was my first experience with DID. my takeaway from it was "oh that's neat! sometimes one person is actually lots of people and that's normal!" and then i moved on.
so like. genuinely growing up and realizing the world is super weird about people with DID was like a brick in the face ALIUSDHALSIUDh what do you mean. what do you mean you think these people are weird. i thought we all agreed they were normal. and i STILL experience that even now knowing more than i did before, i may have only had 1 experience with DID as a kid but that was enough to completely normalize it for me, i don't know how you can't just be normal about systems they are literally just sitting there we all know this (<- we apparently don't all know this)

ROUND 4 MATCH 12: C!WILBUR VS. STAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
c!Wilbur Soot from the DSMP faces Stanley Pines from Gravity Falls. Who do you like more? obligatory @10piecechickenmcnugget tag because your man is RUNNING THE GAUNTLET
c!Wilbur Propaganda:
"Accurate depiction of mental health and spiral, handled delicately and deliberately, every piece of his story was thought and planned and in the end he went home to Utah. Thank you lord."
"Please don’t let the name dream smp effect how you feel about this submission, this character is completely unrelated to dream and I’m pretty sure the person who played him has nothing to do with dream anymore. This man single handedly got me through a horrible patch filled with extreme paranoia by also being extremely paranoid. Genuinely really helped me feel seen and I coped a lot by getting invested in this character. I almost cried when he died :("
"He’s so fucking stupid. I could infodump for hours this man transed my gender. Everything has gone wrong in his life. He’s the definition of a bisexual disaster."
"I didn’t fail 10th grade math bc I was thinking about c!wilbur for him to lose round one"
"I mean look at him!! his Minecraft skin is adorable!!!"
"if you people vote for cwilbur i'll draw him in a bikini."
"A VOTE FOR C!WILBUR IS A VOTE FOR GIRLBOYS EVERYWHERE"
"i should not have underestimated minecraft fans they came together"
Tumblr media
64.media.tumblr.com
"Season 1 changed me. I didn’t know minecraft videos could have good acting, dramatic plots, etc. Wilbur was one of the best there. His plot was so interesting with the L’Manburg and the unfinished symphony arcs. He was funny, dramatic, sad… I fondly remember my dsmp days (though I only saw up to like part of Tommy’s exile)"
Stan Propaganda:
"from the same creature that submitted ford and was too tired for actual propaganda. they’re pretty cool huh"
"That propaganda is disgraceful but I'm also too tired to write up any big things for it"
"Hi that lack of propaganda for Stan Pines is offensive to me personally so here's some fun stuff:
He's punched zombies AND an all-powerful demon to death for the sake of protecting his family. He spent thirty years trying to turn on a portal to the Multiverse to get his twin brother back. He still thinks sacrificing his entire being is all that he's good for, and that makes my heart so sad. He loves his family and his family loves him. He's a silver fox. He also punched a pterodactyl in the face because he felt so bad about lying to his niece and getting her pet pig kidnapped that he had to fix his mistake (and yes, he did get the pig back). His nemesis was a ten-year-old child psychic whom he knew was a fraud because the kid didn't even realize his name wasn't actually Stanford.
Man of all time. Character of all time."

Sleepover Melodies:
Tumblr media
Hi this is a oneshot based on my au enjoy
NOTE: THIS IS NOT RELATED TO CANON IN THE SLIGHTEST. An accurate description of this au is that I took every playtime.co poster art and promotional material from the game and lit up the rest of canon in a bonfire. Meaning that EVERY character is part of one big cartoon. Thats it. No bigger bodies project, no child souls, no experiments, just a depiction of a cartoon. PLEASE do not ask me to do anything suggestive with anyone.
Now, a week ago, this would have sent chills down Catnap's spine. Boxy usually wouldn't be around for another three days, and Bobby stopped by earlier, not that she even knew where he lived. No one should have known his location.
There was a knock on the door.
But alot can happen in a week.
"Catnap, whew! I almost thought there was another cabin I should be looking for out here!" The excitable dog greeted him once he opened the door. Catnap stepped out of the way and gestured inside, inviting him in.
After a short moment, Dogday got himself settled and sat on the floor with catnap. "So....uhhh..." Dogday started, "what now?"
Catnap gave him a stare similar that clearly meant 'really?'
Dogday scratched the back of his head, embarrassed. "Okay, I know, I know, I set this up so I should know what to do, but I only asked Kickin what a sleepover was!"
"You guys look a lot less energetic." Dogday stated. Bubba gave him a small 'mhm' in response while Kickin just groaned with his face flat on the table. "What happened?"
"We were supposed to have a sleepover, but SOMEONE decided it be such a great idea to pull an all-nighter." Bubba said, giving the most passive-aggressive side eye to Kickin.
"HEY! YOU STAYED UP TOO!"
"Well, one of us were gonna have to be the sane one, and with the way you were acting, my role was obvious."
They looked like they were about to go on another friendly snark-off, but dogday cut them off with a sentence straight from hell.
"Uh, guys? What's a sleepover?"
"All they did was tell me that you stay over at a friend's house for the night. It slipped my mind!" Dogday defended himself, but Catnap looked unimpressed.
Dogday deflated at his expression, and Catnap was quick to shoot him a look that could be described as an apology to rectify his mistake.
"No no, it's okay, we can fix this!" Dogday scanned the room. "We can just, uh, make our own rules! Yeah! That'll work!" He got up and started to take a closer look at the things Catnap had.
...There wasn't much.
Maybe a stray plate or something similar, but other than that, Catnap's cabin was just barely filled with the necessities to live.
Time passed, and eventually, it got dark. A single candle lit up the room. Dogday was still trying to find something to do while Catnap sat in the middle of the room, tired. Dogday was about to go report and possibly apologize to Catnap for the uneventful evening, but stopped in his tracks when he heard... singing?
He turned to see where the source was coming from, and lo and behold, it was Catnap. Dogday quietly went over to where Catnap was seated and sat next to him. Catnap seemed to be in his own world at the moment. Dogday listened until the end before complimenting him. "That was amazing!!"
Catnap basically leaped, not having noticed Dogday's presence. He took a moment to recall events and then proceeded to bury his face in his hands due to embarrassment. "No, no, it was really good! Do you do that often?" Catnap shook his head no. "Do you know any more?" Catmap paused for a moment, as if thinking, then nodded.
"Can you sing it?" Catnap looked surprised at the question. "I meant it when I said I liked it!" Catnap thought about it and decided to sing again.
Once the song was finished, he looked over, and Dogday was sound asleep. He got up and grabbed the two blankets he had. He covered Dogday, and after a few moments of difficulty, he fell asleep as well.
When Dogday was about to leave in the morning, he felt the need to apologize, looking down at his feet. "Um, I just wanted to say sorry for, you know, taking you out of routine for something I had no idea how to even do-"
"No."
Dogday looked up at Catnap, who was giving him one of his rare smiles. "I enjoyed it."

Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What's wrong?"
You didn't even look up, you didn't have the strength.
"Hey, Y/n, what's wrong?" Repeated Xavier, stopping right in front of you and forcing you to look up at him.
"Does something need to be wrong for me to be just sad?"
His worried look relaxed and a little smirk began appearing on his face. "Usually, that's how it works."
"Then you're wrong," you object, walking around him and going forward. "I know you're not used to it, but you are."
He chuckled as he followed along, not taking him long to catch up. "I will let it slide just this once because it looks like you need it."
You shot him a deadly glare as your eyes slowly went back to their original goal: looking at nothing but the ground. "What i need is for this day to end. Immediately, possibly."
Xavier checked his phone as he walked by your side. "Sadly, i don't think it's possible since it's barely afternoon."
You let a groan escape your lips and he a laugh. "Can't you just write down the word 'tomorrow' and make it happen?"
"You know that's not how it works, Y/n," he said, placing a tentative hand around your shoulders. "But there is no harm in trying."
You looked up at him, waiting for an answer from you. You knew you couldn't resist him, not even when you felt like this, so you did the only thing you could do: you let your eyes roll as you slowly nodded and he started guiding you towards his dorm room.
Tumblr media
You had to admit it felt slightly better, to be resting on his bed, slouching against the wall and just looking at Xavier on the other side, so focused on his notepad he seemed to be in another universe.
It was calming to look at him: his eyes were absorbed in what he was doing, running over the paper he was drawing on; his lips slightly agape, as if he had forgotten to close them. You didn't mind.
"Done," he suddenly declared, breaking the trance he had involuntarily put you in. "Ready to be wooed?"
"So ready." You said tonelessly, almost sleepy. You had really fallen in a sort of heavenly coma and the softness of the pillows beneath you wasn't helping.
"Don't be so excited, please." He retorted, bringing his attention back to the paper. He stretched his open palm over it and a soft glow began emanating from there.
You were about to say something, when small little charcoal bats started flying out of the paper, flying around the room undisturbed: some twirling around you in a strange dance, some getting tangled in your hair, making you wonder how you even managed to deserve someone like Xavier.
A smile spread on your lips despite your willingness to remain gloomy all day; despite everything he had managed to make you smile.
"Impressed? Fascinated?" He asked, eyebrows raised with an impossible smirk as he waited for you to compliment him.
But you weren't going to give it to him so easily. Although tempting. "Not at all, a parlor trick at most."
"Yeah, that's why you can't stop smiling," he gloated, slouching next to you against the wall and training his eyes on your face.
"I am pitying you, Xavier," you tried, but he was right: you couldn't stop smiling and maybe you didn't even want to.
"Right, a 'thank you' would have been enough, you know?" He said, shaking his head and looking forward, back at all the little bats still floating around the room.
You leaned in, placing a chaste kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, then."

Here is my Comiket haul, for those who may care!
Tumblr media
Arranged on the apartment chabudai for maximum weeb vibes. I won't go through all of them, just note a few to showcase the diversity of things that were on offer. If there is one someone wants a deep dive on, let me know, happy to take photos!
First up, the centerfold star - A Bocchi/Shimo-Kitazawa Fan Celebration doujin in the shape of a vinyl record:
Tumblr media
Its extremely adorable, these guys went all in. It comes in an album case with "tracks", the vinyl-shaped doujin has an A side and a B side with totally different content when flipped, and when you are reading it the text slowly rotates page by page as if you are "playing" the disc.
Tumblr media
Some of it is the circle's thoughts on Bocchi, but more is about their love for the part of Tokyo that Bocchi takes place in, Shimo-Kitazawa, with sections on show-accurate locations and favourite cafes and stores. They even included a map with all of the spots they recommend you visit in the area!
Tumblr media
This one is to me the most "magic of doujin": we all have favourite parts of our cities, and if we sat down could maybe make a map like this. But why would we do that? Who would care? The joint power of a locally-set anime & Comiket, however, makes that personal map into a piece of art people want to own. This piece is pure creativity & passion, and its very special for that - a symbol of doujinshi.
Also one of their members spoke fluent English and aggressively upsold foreigners at the event ^_^ Successfully so! Good job.
For something a little less high concept, this tiny artbook of Rin from Laid-Back Camp as Ghibli characters is adorable:
Tumblr media
A smol kiki, too cute. And look at her as Nausicaa! Full blue and ready to kick ass.
Tumblr media
Its like 5 pages and each page is a gem, great buy.
This next one is a genre of book I really love - the photography/anime composite book focusing on scene locations, starring our girl Haruhi Suzumiya:
Tumblr media
I appreciate how much fun this one has with its concept, lots of cute drawings on the margins; and the photographs are not all Haruhi related, instead it is just the author's own journey put through a Haruhi lens. This book is another great example of how "transformative" these works are, breaking the bounds of their source material.
Tumblr media
"Hey, its me!"
Tumblr media
Okay, now for some extreme Ash-brand doujin - Flowers for Yamada-san, a history doujin about Hiroyoshi Yamada, also known by the name Koji Kawamoto, a manga & magazine editor who played an instrumental part of the lolicon boom of the 1980's:
Tumblr media
He passed away this year, and so this doujin is a memorial to him, an accounting of his influence and role in early manga, a wider discussion of the lolicon boom in general, and its own creative work; sandwiched between essays are comic depictions of moments of his career done in a mimicry the classic loli/bishoujo early 80's style:
Tumblr media
This will of course take some time to read - I am excited to dig into it. As I have mentioned before, I am toying with the idea of a deeper research project on the "lolicon boom"; its, for understandable reasons, extremely neglected in western discourse of the history of anime & manga. But that moral aversion doesn't change how instrumental this period was, so I think a lot of good work could be done documenting and explaining its place. This book was an amazing find to stumble upon, and the creators are extremely well-researched on this period.
Anyway this is probably long enough lol. I did find some ero-doujin as well of course, though very few - as I mentioned, Comiket was a warzone, and I did not 'prep' for that side of things. I laughed at the idea of people doing days of research to prep of their porn buying adventure - I was the fool, they the wise, you absolutely need to do that if that is your goal. It wasn't really mine but I respect it now for sure - and I actually found the Comiket experience sort of liberating on that front, I "get it" now in a way I didn't before.
This is of course a tiny sliver of the book buys from Japan - hopefully I can make a few posts about the rest soon.

according to my (admittedly limited) knowledge of historical fashion, a league of their own is pretty decent on accuracy -
the first scene with carson in the button up dress and bra, i was immediately struck by how accurate the bra looked. the '40s wasn't full on bullet-bra era, but you can see the slight cone shape. i thought her hair looked a little long, especially to be down like that, but then greta cut it so the implication is that she's out of style. but '40s hair wasn't as short as '50s, so even if she hadn't cut it i would've let it slide
Tumblr media
id: a page from a 1940s catalog showcasing a variety of bras. the top of the page reads "Nationally Known Bras in Flattering Styles"
greta's tied up shirts exposing the midriff are actually historically accurate, it would be a more casual look but the 1940s did the crop tops and high-waisted pants thing first. i could see greta in a 1940s two-piece swimsuit or playsuit, and for all i know this show does a beach episode and we do get to see it
Tumblr media
id: a black-and-white page from a 1940s catalog. the 4 models wear two piece playsuits, a style consisting of a crop top and high waisted shorts. the caption reads "Sweet New Play Styles"
i love the representation of butch 1940s. obviously it wasn't totally mainstream for women to be butch (as the show makes clear) but with the war a lot of menswear/military-esque stuff started showing up in women's wear. wearing a button-down shirt and a pair of big trousers was an acceptable women's look in the '40s. it was generally a more casual look, and paired with the curls and red lip, but it's not like women wearing pants was super taboo. boxy jackets with shoulderpads were also popular, and they came back in the '80s with such a vengeance that people don't know that the '40s did it first.
Tumblr media
id: a page from a 1940s catalog, depicting teenagers in a variety of shirt-and-pants outfits. of note are one girl on the top left wearing a broad-shouldered red jacket, and a girl in the inset wearing jeans cuffed to her knees. the caption reads "Teen-age Sportswear"
also, "butch" looks were more okay if you were working a job that required them, e.g. max's job at the factory, whereas the peaches are entertainers. so they're dressed like entertainers, in miniskirts that wouldn't have been considered appropriate for regular wear until the '60s or later. the peaches uniforms are the equivalent of female sports players today having to play in bikinis.
Tumblr media
id: a page from a 1940s catalog depicting women in various work jumpsuits, two of which are denim. the caption reads "Sturdy Work Clothes"
specifically, jo mentions the ziegfeld follies, a theater revue show that ran on broadway in the early 1900s. it's mostly associated with the '10s and '20s, but this photo is from the '30s and there was a follies show that ran in 1943, the year that aloto is set. there was also a 1941 film called Ziegfeld Girl and a 1946 film called the Ziegfeld Follies, so it was clearly still on people's minds.
Tumblr media
id: a 1931 photo of Florenz Zeigfeld of the Zeigfeld Follies, surrounded by a group of women who performed in his shows. many of them wear extremely short skirts
source
i mean, i haven't even seen Ziegfeld Girl and hedy lamarr in this outfit lives rent free in my brain so, y'know, i can relate to jo here
Tumblr media
id: hedy lamarr wearing a gauzy flowy white gown patterned with stars and a crown of stars radiating out of her head.
there's probably more that i'm not thinking of right now and i'm not done with the show yet but i am really enjoying this show from a historical fashion perspective
also all the vintage catalog images are sourced from the closet historian on pinterest, and you can watch the videos of her going through vintage catalogs here

Hi there!!! Did you read the Magneto series and Scarlet witch series? I'm eagerly waiting to know your thoughts!
Yes I did! I read through the last issue of Magneto this morning, as well as issues 9 & 10 of Scarlet Witch. Overall, I really enjoyed the conclusions to both of them, Scarlet Witch more so.
Magneto:
This line from Issue 4 really summarizes I think the overall conceit of this story: "Was the 'evil mutant' just a role I played for the greater good... or the ugly truth? Am I the heir to Charles Xavier's dream... or the beast that will devour it?"
At first, this series gave me the impression that the author's argument was that it had all been an act back in the 60's, that Magneto wasn't really ever 'evil,' and I didn't find that satisfying. I think there's a tendency in fiction to try to absolve characters of their past actions/crimes, in order to make them more palatable and less complex (for instance, absolving Jean Grey of Dark Phoenix's actions by making it so the real Jean was at the bottom of the bay the entire time, or saying that Doom had manipulated Wanda into committing M-Day). Removing their responsibility/culpability for actions they took just isn't as interesting to me as seeing someone grapple with something horrific they had done, and having to struggle and reckon with it, and find a way to atone for their actions.
So basically, I thought at first that this was what this narrative was trying to do - to remove Magneto's responsibility for the stuff he did in the silver age. But by the conclusion of the series, I think it became more clear that deMatteis & co were really trying to examine these two opposing poles of Magneto, of his capability for intense rage and violence, but also for empathy and compassion.
I think if the series had been longer, this would've been super successful. As it was, it accomplished what it set out to do in these four issues and the ending scene with Rahne, where they're looking at the photo of Max's mom, it's super touching and sweet. I just wish things had more space to breathe to allow this character study the runway it really needed.
Scarlet Witch:
I ADORE this entire run. I haven't been posting my thoughts on individual issues as much as I used to - and that isn't because these things aren't good, they're fucking fantastic - I've just been busy with work (& getting back into writing fanfic). But I need to be super clear - this is my favorite Scarlet Witch solo ever (not that we have many lol) and probably is up there in one of my favorite comic runs of all time.
The artwork is GORGEOUS. The colors used are amazing and the expressions on the characters, by god they just fucking sing. I love the care taken to depict Wanda respectfully and accurately, the new costumes are sick af, and everything is just so dynamic. Sometimes, I have a hard time figuring out what is happening with comic book art, but I never really struggled here - even as we are dropped into wacky new situations, often times jumping from completely different contexts from panel to panel. And the covers, they are just.... just chef's kiss - perfection!
And the characterization, gods - just incredible. I didn't really like Orlando's Marauders run, I ended up dipping out somewhere in arc 1 or 2 of it, so I was a little worried about Scarlet Witch. I'm so glad to have been proven wrong. The cast works together so flawlessly, the little moments recalling past continuity without aliening new readers is fantastic. I adored Wanda calling Joseph Iosif and I'm hoping that, when we next see him, he may just adopt that as his name? (Although I'm not expecting to see Iosif around any time soon, given that Max is coming back, and historically when Max is back and a good guy, Iosif is either dead or a bad guy).
The treatment of Wanda's family was everything I could have hoped for - honoring Magneto as her father, her interactions with her siblings, with her kids, with her niece. Seeing Luna Maximoff again in a comic was NOT something I saw coming but I loved it lol.
I also just loved the rotating nature of the problems she faced - that every issue was a new adventure, a new place, a new way for Wanda to demonstrate her growth and healing by giving back to others. She's an OP character by definition and I never felt myself bored with the conflicts she had to face. They were unique and varied and I felt most of them, on some level, had a direct connection to a period of Wanda's own history - hell, they even had her basically go and confront someone who was doing a WandaVision which I found sooo funny lmao.
(If you can't tell by my rambling, I'm kinda obsessed with this series...)
The final villain I really liked - partially because I am an inorganic chemist, so a lot of the science and stuff that I do actually comes from alchemists. I think having alchemist villains for Wanda to face is super interesting and a nice change of pace from the demons and other witches she is usually up against, and I hope we see more of Nicola. She's a super neat foil for Wanda, particularly with the current continuity that Wanda comes from a line of Scarlet Witches, and Nicola comes from a long line of alchemists.
Darcy was a treat, she worked super well here, and I kinda ship her with Zelma now??? Like they're girlfriends, right??? Right???
There's probably things I'm frothing at the mouth over with this series that I've forgotten about, but I also don't want to write you an entire essay in response, so.... I'm gonna cut myself off here and say that I am VERY excited for the follow up Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch series. (Maybe we'll get a Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch & POLARIS series one day, hmmm? Please Marvel? Pleeeeeeeease? I neeeeeed it soooo much....)

Request @trexrambling : Always good to see you on my dash ❤️ For a request…what about - The reader being seriously injured on a hunt to the point where she may not walk again. All the angst and potential comfort that comes with that. My main man Dean, please!
Summary: When your entire life, entire identity is taken from you in a moment; what do you do?
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader
Warnings: Semi-graphic description of wound, traumatic injury, ANGST, reader is diagnosed as a paraplegic, this is a really angst filled fic so please heed the warnings guys 💕
Word Count: 1,896
A/N: First of all thank you so so so much for giving me this request @trexrambling . I really loved the challenge of diving into these characters and really trying my best to depict their feelings accurately.
With that being said, I personally have never gone through this injury I did do a lot of research however if I did portray anything inaccurately please don't be afraid to let me know.
Thank you again so so much for this request. I really hope I did it justice and that you enjoy it.
Sending all the love, hugs, and positive vibes
💕🥰✨
Quiet. Everything was so quiet. Dean hated it. There was no laughter, no talking, no you singing and dancing around the Bunker, no you taunting Sam about how you beat him home from the morning run; just quiet. You'd only been home from the hospital for two days now, after you being there for the last two weeks. You still weren't speaking to anyone, or at all. The last time he had heard your voice was when you were sobbing, screaming, begging that the doctors were lying. All Dean could do was hold you as you cried and attempt to comfort you, all while drowning in his own guilt.
You, Sam, and himself had been on a routine hunt, (to be honest though was any hunt ever routine?) After loring the werewolf into the woods with it chasing you as bait, (which Dean had been against from the beginning). Dean had just shot it, when as it fell, you tried to dodge it however, you over corrected and fell- straight onto a broken tree branch. He still couldn't get the scene out of his mind; the gasp you made when you fell, the tree branch sticking out of your lower abdomen, the panicked look in your eyes as you reached for him with blood dripping from lips as you continued to gasp for air.
As soon as Sam saw what happened he called an ambulance as Dean tried to keep you calm. Luckily it arrived pretty fast, even though it didn't feel that way. After a four and a half hour surgery was when the doctor led the boys to your room and had told them your diagnosis. You had suffered a spinal cord injury to your lower lumbar vertebrae. They wouldn't be sure until you were awake what the full amount of damage was, however, they said that because of where you were injured you may never be able to walk again.
Dean was so angry. He had never been more angry in his life. Not you. This couldn't be happening. Not to you. You were one of the most active people he knew. You loved to dance around the Bunker, go on runs, and brag about beating them at any sport because you honestly could, you even gave Sam a good run for his money when you went on morning runs together. For that to be taken from you…it wasn't fair. So when you had finally woken up on day three was when reality hit; you couldn't move your legs. You didn't have much sensation rather than pain. That was the last time you spoke. That was eleven days ago.
Dean didn't know what to do. The hospital almost didn't release you because of your mental state. You weren't speaking, or really eating but the moment you had heard them wanting to keep you Dean saw the panic back in your eyes as pleading tears ran down your face. You wanted to go home so that's what he did.
When you both had gotten back to the Bunker Dean had taken you into his and your shared bedroom. That's where you had stayed for the past two days; completely quiet and still, almost cationic. Dean was terrified. Even though you were here, alive and breathing you weren't, not really. This wasn't you. Yes, psychically your heart was beating but when he looked into your eyes you weren't there. The girl he fell in love with was completely shattered into the smallest of pieces. Dean didn't care though. He would put you back together piece by piece, from the ground up because he would be damned if he lost you after everything that you had gone through.
Not to say that he wasn't scared because he was. He didn't know what to do or what to say because he wouldn't lie to you. He wouldn't tell you that everything was fine and it wasn't a big deal, because nothing was fine and it was a big deal; a fucking huge deal. You may never walk again. You had every right to feel however you did and honestly he didn't care if you screamed at him right now and blamed him because at least then you'd be showing some kind of emotion. He didn't know what to do but what he did know was that he was going to be with you every step of the way to figure it out. You never left him, even in his darkest moments, so like hell would he leave you.
You and the boys had grown up together. Bobby had taken you in at a young age after he had found you on a hunt gone wrong. Your parents had been murdered and then drained in front of you by ghouls. The ghouls had just started to cut into you when Bobby and Rufus had gotten into the house. You were only seven at the time and they way you had hugged on to Bobby for dear life he knew he couldn't just drop you off somewhere so he took you with him.
The first time you had met the boys you and Sam had immediately bonded over movies and books since you were only a year older than him. You and Dean however had more of a love/hate relationship. Dean enjoyed trying to act like the tough guy and teased you mercilessly for years to the point that you had just resigned yourself to the fact he didn't like you. It wasn't until eighth grade after you saw him beat up a couple guys for making fun of your scars on your wrist, (from when the ghouls had tried to kill you), was when you realized he was just pretending not to like you. After confronting him about it and calling him an asshat was when things between you both slowly changed.
You and Dean dated off and on for a while. You had joined Dean when he went to find his dad and pick up Sam. Between then and now your relationship with Dean wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. How could it be with hunting thrown into the mix? From him making a deal to save Sam which was understandable but also painful, to him abandoning you to be with Lisa, to him going to purgatory, and of course the Mark of Cain…point being; you and Dean had been to Hell and back, shit Purgatory and back and throughout all that you were still with him. So no. He wasn't going to leave you no matter what you did or what you said because he loved you and nothing could change that.
A loud thump at 3:10 in the morning was what startled Dean awake. On instinct he reached for you with one hand, and for his gun under his pillow with the other. As his hand made contact with his gun he realized that his other hadn't made contact with you. A chill immediately ran down his spine as he turned on his lamp ready to kill whoever had taken you when- laughter. Your laughter filled the room. Which honestly scared the shit out of Dean for a couple reasons; one being you hadn't made a peep for the last thirteen days and two; why the hell were you laughing? After making his way to the other side of the bed he saw you laying on your side still laughing.
"Y/N…sweetheart? What are you doing on the floor?" Crouching down to your level, he tried to scan your body to make sure you weren't hurt.
"I- I woke up and had to pee so, I went to get out of bed and immediately fell because I forgot my legs-my legs don't work!" You laughed hysterically as tears ran down your face. "How the hell did I just forget they just don't work?" Dean steadily watched you for a moment knowing what was coming next. He'd only seen you do this on a few occasions where you'd laugh and cry at the same time before you broke down. One of them being when you came to terms with him dying after taking the deal for Sam. Your laughter began to calm down and the tears began to flow freely down your face, as you poked at your legs with your pointer finger.
"I mean, if not being able to make them move isn't sign enough then-then what about how even though I can't feel them, I have a constant pain running through them?" At the end of your question you let out a mirthless laugh. Dean sat next to you and within five seconds is when he saw reality set in, truly set in and you lost it.
"I can't walk. Dean, I can't walk. What- what am I gonna do?" Pulling you into his lap he held you as tight as he could as you cried into his chest, your body shaking as panic hit. When you began hyperventilating was when Dean turned your face towards his.
He could see your mind racing as it finally was coming to terms with the reality that it was trying so hard to keep you safe from. As much as Dean wished you didn't have to go through this he knew there wasn't another way.
"Sweetheart, look at me. Y/n, sweetheart I need you to look at me." You focused your eyes on his as he gently wiped away your tears with his thumb. "There we go. That's my girl. I need you to breathe with me okay?" You shook your head in a panic mouthing the word 'can't'. "Yes you can. You can breathe baby. I need you to focus on me. Can you do that? Here," he gently took your hand and placed it on his chest as he took a deep breath. "Feel that? I need you to match it. I know you can sweetheart. Deep breath." He took a breath in, and as he did you shakily followed. He gave you a smile as a tear fell down his own cheek. "That's my girl. There we go, keep going sweetheart. You're doing so good Y/N, so so good."
Twenty minutes went by as Dean held you close to him coaching you through your breathing, still not moving even when you calmed down.
"Dean?" It was a ghost of a whisper but he heard you regardless. He looked down, still stroking your hair.
"Yeah sweetheart?" You avoided his eyes.
"I know this isn't what you signed up for. Hunting is your life and I can't do that anymore-" He gently, but firmly lifted your chin so you would look at him.
"I'm gonna stop you right there. Hunting isn't my life. Maybe it was at one point but not anymore. You, you're who I want to be with, who I want to spend my life with so if that means no hunting, then so be it. I'm not going anywhere. You're stuck with me sweetheart." Your eyes met his smirk before meeting his green orbs filled with nothing but love, sincere and honest love.
You didn't know why he would stay but you couldn't find a reason to doubt him at this moment because you didn't want to spend the rest of your life with anyone else either.

The Windeby Puzzle by Lois Lowry REVIEW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1/5 Stars ⭐
I would like to point out that this book is a historical fiction. Several parts of the book include snippets of history of the Windeby bog child and recounts of history of the time from Tacitus explaining cultural rituals surrounding the bog. While these recounts from Tacitus were true, my main critique lies in the painful misrepresentation of ancient Germanic tribal culture surrounding women's rights.
It is okay to have a strong female character to represent the girls reading this book. I quite enjoyed reading Estrild's story and was rooting for her, but we all know how her story ended so there's not much we could have done about that. The story itself was fine. What I did not find "fine" was the incorrect history that Lowry held onto with a death grip. Pre-Christian pagan history finds that women were highly respected and equal to men. We find Goddesses, deities of strong women such as the Morrigan, Danu, Athena, Hecate, Freyja, and Hel. There are legends of strong women such as the Valkyrie and Scathach. What baffled me the most was the incessant depiction of only male druids. It really, to me, seemed like the author's only source of druid history and depiction came from popular media, which wraps the druids around a mysterious aura, dark robed and hooded men, slaughtering animals and reading their innards for omens, and MEN. Women in druidic history could be druids just as equally as men. To have read Tacitus' accounts on the history of this era and completely avoid the mention of Banduri, or female druids, was astonishing. Again, this IS only the authors interpretation, however to call her story a historical fiction and avoid all historically accurate inspiration infuriated me.
What also bothered me and only angered me more was one of her quotes at the end of her book, on page 182 Lowry states, "Although I was creating fiction, it was to be based on truth". Except it was far from it. While yes, the child did meant and untimely and unfortunate death, the act of making these stories and claiming them to be as close to truth as possible made me upset. There was certainly an attempt made in TRYING to be historically accurate, but that attempt was so short that that it failed her stories.
Below are two links to support my claims, thought I have done past research in druidic history in published books as I consider myself a new age druid. These links are only meant to serve as a quick and easy read for those that want to actually do the research on strong pagan women in pre-Christian history as well as the Banduri.

Here are my notes during reading. WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW
-The book is sectioned off by real history and then fictional "What might have happened". -To think that the girl wasn't married or wasn't "sophisticated" enough to marry is very close-minded. It is important to look back at he cultures written at the time the girl died and be sure that the theories are correct. While she was about 13 years old at the time of her death, if the history of her culture is true and women did marry early, then that is that. It is easy for our minds to find these features of an ancient culture to be alien. It's easy to think that a girl of 13 could only have childish behaviors like having an awkward crush on a person. Times were very different back in the first century AD Germany. It is very likely that he was punished and thrown into a bog for loving a different boy. She was a child. -Mention of Ogham staves. -Varick likely has scoliosis. -My main issue concerning the story so far is that women are underminded. Caretakers, yes, but women before Christianity were worshipping. There were Goddesses, strong women who fought in battle that inspired mortal women to follow. Goddesses that not only birthed and raised children, but fought wars as well. Here, women are just baby making machines and submissive. Celtic/Germanic women had more purpose, strength, and freedom than that. Women conducted war plans along male leaders equally. -The fear of the Gods is also a Christian instilled concept. While there were wrathful Gods, the Gods called upon to help were typically not wrathful and typically weren't ones to act spitefully. -I feel as though the author did the barest minimum of research as far of druid and their history go. As if the author took what was popular in media and ran it as truth. For one, druids weren't mysterious and secluded, they were everyday people that worked with the village, doing chores as a normal person would, and could be found in the higher ranks with leaders and war planning. Secondly, druids could be women as well, it wasn't an exclusively male job. To have a section for history before the story begins and fail to implement the history into your historical fiction story is bazaar. "Why are there no women druids? she had asked her mother once. Her mother had looked startled, shocked. "It's not our role," she said. (Lowry, pg 66). The druid role was a job for women as equally as men. It most certainly was their role as a woman. -I confess. It was excruciating for me to read Estrild's story. The history was all wrong, and it was almost like the author was romanticizing an evil heathenistic, barbaric, tribe with horrible druids. While yes, druids were considered judges and did help make decisions for the tribes, druids were looked up to by all peoples in the tribe. Druids helped people and sought to better their peoples, by seeking out word from the Gods/Goddesses. Druids were also equally women as were men. It could be easy to say "oh well this is Lowry's interpretation of the story", sure, but at least get the history right. WOMEN WERE JUST AS IMPORTANT AND RESPECTED IN THESE COMMUNITIES AS MEN WERE!!!!! There were female deities, there were strong female warriors, female raiders, female judges, female druids, female leaders. Women were NOT disregarded, ignored, placed upon the outskirts, or only meant to please the men. Women were HIGHLY respected in these cultures and to write a historical fiction based around the culture and managed to get this wrong is infuriating. -It's like the author was piecing her puzzle together with jigsaw pieces and legos. -Starting Varick's story -You can't hear owls wingbeats.

NNT Rewatch: Episode 2
Masterpost
College orientation is done, Camp Nano begins in two days, and I have plenty of free time right now! So! Time to continue the rewatch!
Also I should probably say, this being a rewatch, I will talk about things that happen later both in this season and the story in general
Okay so first of all, Netflix, you're asking to skip recap when this scene wasn't in the last episode
Secondly okay then her father wasn't laid up in bed sick when she escaped, but I wonder if he encouraged her to leave on her own because he knew he was/he'd get sick, or if he knew he'd just slow her down bc. I mean. He IS old
Gotta respect the holy knights still calling him Majesty when there to arrest him and while banging on his door-
Love characters with parental-related trauma, whether it's just related to the parents or the parents caused it. And Elizabeth (though not known yet) has BOTH of those
Anyway she'll be seeing holy knights burst into her father's room in her nightmares for a long time I'm sure
Also what was that roar. Like jesus you'd think one of the new generation had transformed then and there with it-
Also also Elizabeth's dress when fleeing is actually pretty cute and separately I like that purple cloak, and I gotta remember to draw her in it at some point
Final also give this poor girl a hug :(
It's interesting just how many demon types there are depicted in the intro (at least a huge variety in appearance) yet we don't really see a lot of them
First season it's the red and gray demons, then we see more humanoid ones (Meliodas and the commandments), and Grayroad, but then there's this hulking demon in the intro and some dragon-like ones. There's one I'm curious if it's what Galand is beneath the armor. And there's tons of - again fairly humanoid - demons in the Cursed by Light movie.
Just. I'm really curious why we had so many humanoid ones. I would've loved to see the more beastly or monstrous looking demons throughout the show more, if only because the designs look so cool
But then we also don't know how much of this art can be considered accurate since the goddesses are portrayed with only a single set of wings, so (assuming that this was art depicting stories passed down by humans) maybe none of these demons exist
It'd be really cool if they did tho
Also at the bottom we have two human armies facing against each other, one blue the other red, and supposedly fighting on their respective sides. So it's interesting to see humans being depicted to be split on who they should support in the Holy War, if anyone, kinda like what I assume was going on with Rou and the humans who attacked the Fairy King Forest in the first Holy War
One day I'll analyze the Sins' armor and how it fits to each of their characters perfectly
But today is not that day
NETSUJOU NO SPECTRUM
I just. I love the colors in this intro and every scene is just beautiful
Also Elizabeth and Meliodas, while standing hand in hand, are fairly far apart and I'm pretty sure in future intros they're MUCH closer together
Holding hands to show that their lives are intertwined/connected - hinting at the curse they're plagued with. But there's also distance between them that Meliodas is likely putting there, trying to keep Elizabeth at arms length to avoid accidentally activating the curse.
Like. Cmon. Elizabeth is closer to HAWK in the intro right there.
Alright I'm gonna be overanalyzing EVERYTHING if you hadn't caught on so here's more
In the scene they're lying in the grass Elizabeth is sleeping (or at least has her eyes closed) but Meliodas' eyes are wide open. Could be referencing how Elizabeth will die/has died but will come back (reincarnation -> sleep cycle) whereas Meliodas will continue to live (never truly dying -> awake). Like he closes his eyes for a moment then springs up, kinda like a brief respite before getting back into the thick of things
I'm definitely reading too far into it and idk if it makes sense but I'm fine with that
Too bad we don't see more of the Necropolis. I feel like it'd be interesting to explore more.
Especially the differences between there and Purgatory imo
And we're back with the sexualization
Like even if Elizabeth was just naive she's a TEENAGE PRINCESS you're telling me she doesn't know proper etiquette and what would be considered inappropriate behavior?
Meliodas just dodging her question so effectively that even when she hits the nail on the head (sorta, could what he did really be considered a crime when everyone else was dead?) he just says "well, maybe" and she just. Doesn't bring it up again I think?
Anyway I also just love the look on his face when he says maybe-
WHERE DOES THE PATH LEADING TO THE BOAR HAT COME FROM
MAMA HAWK JUST DIGS DOWN AND IS GREEN AS THE GRASS AROUND HER BUT SHE DOESNT HAVE A PATH PATTERN AND THE STEPS TO THE BOAR HAT ARE FAR ENOUGH THAT THEY WOULDNT REACH THE EXISTING PATH
But also I love that there's a path leading to nowhere on this hill. Meliodas sells Vanya ale regularly from the looks of it (we see it in episode 1) so I wonder if the path is just there for when the boar hat is in town
Also it's a crime Meliodas became king of Liones
Man knows his stuff about alcohol and he seemed to actually enjoy running the tavern. He should gave just remained a bartender. He didn't even really WANT to be ruler of ANYTHING
I mean. Sir. Look at him then compare him to literally every person around you. You think he can SEE what's going on???
Wait I forgot Twigo wasn't a holy knight
Also apparently I accidentally quoted Meliodas in Eternal (Gelda saying "That twigo guy" in ch 19)
Surprised we don't see more people other than Mead say they're buddies with the Sins, but at the same time it makes sense bc the Holy Knights? But like damn you telling me not one grown ass arrogant bastard decided to scare people by saying this?
I actually love a lot of the villager designs in Vanya. Like there's so many types of people (body type wise at least)!! It's great!!!!
Girl practice your aim better
But also Elizabeth's reaction to Meliodas getting nailed in the face with a rock is gold 😂
Also also Meliodas didn't budge after getting a - pretty decent size - rick straight to the face
The way he just ushers Mead off like "alright we're going and you're mine now let's go"
"why are they hitting me" boy you're literally between him and the villagers?????
Why wasn't the rock-throwing stopped until AFTER Mead was gone??????????
Mead looking all cheeky and Meliodas just like "Brat. You're gonna regret this." when Mead insists on eating before telling Meliodas anything
While I am miffed over them not using more of Elizabeth's physical abilities in the show, I do absolutely love just how big her heart is and how she's such an empathetic person
Like she figures out what Mead's deal is before going to confront him and connects with him through it and just ughshfhdh
The shock on this kid's face when he suddenly realizes he's talking to someone who will completely understand him
Also he looked so surprised when Elizabeth got down to his level and like
This just shows a really healthy way of talking with kids and trying to get to the root of the problem. She starts with what she's heard, then gets to his level and connects with him and just.... my heart....
And like. It WORKS. He opens up about what's really going on because Elizabeth opened up to him
The way they just look at Meliodas - who wasn't paying attention lol - after Mead's explanation
What tf are these knights even thinking like. Mdudes you got no powers. You ain't holy knights. What if the village just decided to mob you? Every single one of em looks twice as strong as you
Anyway
They should've mobbed the two idiots
"That's the power of one of the Seven Deadly Sins" I mean. The sword thing? Not really? Since pretty much ANY Holy Knight could've removed the sword. Just happened to be him
But if we're talking his kindness to do it? Like him just having a big heart? Then yeah
Wonder if Mead was gonna ask if he was a Sin or just a Holy Knight
That lil push and "Go on" and the village and like ajdjfjfjfhfjfjf
I love this episode so much and I always forget how much I love it
Also! Perfect Time still playing in the background! I don't remember much about future seasons but I don't remember it playing much in more emotionally triumphant scenes rather than physical
Like the fight with the DK and even SD, while somewhat emotionally charged, were more about the physical triumph than the emotional
Perfect Time in this episode doesn't kick in until AFTER Meliodas pulls the sword and then it plays in the background, lasting until the scene changes to the Boar Hat
It was used to emphasize this as a win, because it was a win for these people's spirits and less about Meliodas' physical win
ITS CALLED THE FOREST OF WHITE DREAMS OKAY
I love the foreshadowing of Gilthunder's story, because while we don't know much about him or what the fuck that raven is and why it looks so evil, we know they're connected somehow but don't know how
Also the raven is outside observing Gilthunder, through the glass, maybe highlighting how Gilthunder is trapped under Vivian's vigilance AND how Vivian cannot truly see Gilthunder (who's in a chair blocking the view of the window and therefore letting him hide from Vivian)
That is a really nifty power of Gilthunder's and it's a damn shame we NEVER SEE HIM USE IT AGAIN
Love seeing the customers starting at Hawk in shock but also nervously lol
I do love all the foreshadowing to the curse without blatantly showing that foreshadowing
After Meliodas confirms there's something Elizabeth is meant to do, he says "And I have something that I'm meant to do" and while it's clear to people who know he's talking about how he has to break the curse to first time watchers it could mean something much different, like he's meant to protect the people or save them (because, as revealed later, that's why he's the sin of wrath - he failed to save the people of Danafor but also he's protecting THESE PEOPLE now too)
Him catching and then throwing the spear back will never NOT be epic
Wonder how close Meliodas got to hitting Vivian's raven
It's been a LOOOOOONG time since I last listened and watched this outro oml
Also poor Diane having to walk while everyone else can just pass the nights sleeping
She's been sleeping in the forest to prepare for how long she'll have to walk awake once she joins everyone else
And that's episode three! Yknow I thought I was going fast-paced with Eternal but now I realize we get introduced to some of the characters REALLY FAST
Anyway if you got this far, you're fantastic! Lmk what your favorite nnt race is if you want and - if YOU want to ramble too - why?

Thoughts on: Elvis: The Early Years (2005)
It stars Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Elvis, the first episode covers the 50s, and the second covers the 60s. Each episode is around an hour 30 and at the time of writing are available on Freevee.
So the first episode covers the basics, a lot of whats covered in most Elvis properties being how he got started. It's road well tread so I'm going to keep it short and sweet that it's pretty accurate to the events, thats good.
Meyers is a talented actor but it's hard to see him as Elvis, imo. He does the raised lip thing which looks pretty weird rather than natural. And in a majority of songs, they dub him with Elvis's voice. And I'm sorry dude, you don't sound enough like him for that to work. It came off as jarring. That being said he's a fine actor, no doubt about that at all. But, idk, I didn't feel a whole lot of love in his performance. Hard to describe. (AKA Austin Butler has ruined all other EP performances for me lol)
The second episode is what's usually breezed by in depiction of Elvis: The 60s. Even Elvis (2022) does a montage for the early/mid 60s. That's the unique bit of this particular series. Involving his relationship with Pricilla, Ann Margret, and a surprise showing of Larry Gellar. It's a time of his life less shown in media, lets talk about that.
So the 60s were seen as the dark ages for Elvis Presley (if we're to call the 68 special a renaissance). He was making movies he didn't believe in and music that was churned out fast, even for a couple of hits that were found in there (Little Less Conversation, c'mon now), theres just as much throwaway.
I for one really like his 60s era. Idk even if his movies are far from high art I get a lot of enjoyment out of them, and it's an interesting era to know about, one a lot of people ignore.
So any media willing to show it, I encourage that.
So how they'd do?
Well I'm glad they addressed his relationship to Pricilla head on. They didn't skirt it, she was 14 when they met and they say it out loud. I am ALSO glad they made it clear they didn't have sex until she was an adult, also a fact. And it was Elvis's decision, he wanted to wait (they could have just taken the provocative route but they stayed true to reality) As well as his at times turbulent relationship, EP's controlling nature. Loving as he could be, he wasn't the best husband at all.
I wish they showed more of Ann Margret in a positive light. Y'all, the actress for her was so... terrible. Idk why they gave her a sexed up babydoll voice like. No. Sure she was the 'other woman', but she was also an uber talented actress with her own story. And from everything I've read her and Elvis were legit soulmates. I understand why it didn't work out, (EP preferred traditional relationships, thats a roadblock) But I wish they showed more of their souls here. Rather than it being a fling. They were friends for years after, c'mon now.
They were transparent on his drug use, spending habits, how it negatively affected those around him. A rare violent moment when he was drugged up and injured a woman with a pool cue. And also on how Tom Parker held his career back for money. Truths.
Elvis's interest in spirituality was also shown but... in a very negative light. Now, I won't pretend I know exactly what happened. If my friend ran up preaching at random hours maybe I'd be concerned too. But it's always rubbed me the wrong way that it's depicted like a drug fueled weird detour in his life.
To my understanding Elvis was unhappy with where his work had been going, and what his place was. When you're unhappy, you look for answers. He was already an avid reader so of course he'd look into finding religion. Maybe Larry Gellar had other motives, I don't know, but his inner circle forcing him to burn his books comes off as... ugly. It truly did happen, which makes it even worse.
The scene tries to paint Elvis as a lost kind of person going off the rails but it just ended up with me kind of hating the Memphis Mafia. Dude, if your friend/employer is starting to rave about the meaning of life and what he's here for, maybe thats an INDICATION that he needs a different kind of support than he's gotten and it's not be joked about. Burn the drugs, not the books.
#ElvisNeededTherapy
Religion was the least of his problems, that's all I'm saying.
And they show the whole 'Elvis wasn't recognized on Hollywood Blvd.' story which, is unconfirmed let's face it. It's a good indication on where he was in life, but this miniseries is going for more realism so idk thats a weird moment (yeah his movies weren't doing great but ur telling me NOBODY recognized him? Not buying that one)
The more I watch other depictions of Elvis, the more I can see why Elvis (2022) is praised. So many of these series paint post-50s Elvis in a depressing light, like he was never happy and a has-been always ten feet away from relevancy. It comes off as so dark.
(Side note something I noticed is: Most people that hate his post 50s career seem to be specifically music artists that were inspired by him. They wanted him to be everything and were angry that he couldn't be that.)
It's important to address his flaws but, I just really feel tired after depictions like this. And not in a way like I got to know him. Movies that strictly take after Elvis: What Happened, and Elvis and Me, I always take with a grain of salt. (Written by scorned parties, there were true stories that were written fast and both pools of writers have regretted/taken back parts of their books)
Yeah, I just appreciate Elvis (2022) so much now. It showed both his darker sides while still maintaining his humanity. It showed his teeth and also explained why they'd gotten so sharp. It explained WHY he lashed out, why he felt the way he did. Rather than taking the sides of people that would gain from writing a tell all book for the fourth time.

♡ aaliya's point of view ♡
friday rolled through and i could not be more nervous. why? because taehyun will be home since him and kai had to cancel their plans.
i pulled up in front of the house and waited for yeosang, my leg bouncing because of how nervous i am. he better hurry up because if taehyun sees his getting in my car we're both befuqued.
once he finally exited the house i let out a fat sigh of releaf. he looks good. as usual.
when he got in the car, i didn't even wait for him to close the door before driving off, causing him to let out a yelp.
"trying to kill me again i see." he comments and i roll my eyes at him.
"no i'm trying to get away before taehyun sees my car. unless youbwanna be seen, we can go back and do-over." i retort and there's a moment of silence before we both started laughing.
at what? i have no idea because that was the furthest thing from funny.
"could've waited for me to at least get in the car." he sighed.
"it's about the adventure." he scoffs loudly, adjusting to get comfortable in the seat.
"adventure my ass."
i gave him access to the aux cord and he connected his phone and playing his music.
somewhere along the way, however, some old lady decided she wanted to drive into my the fast lane without indicating and somehow it eas my fault.
"arw you crazy?" i hear yeosang damn near yell and i shush him.
"what now?"
"turn into an offramp somewhere and we'll switch seats before you kill someone."
"kill someone? excuse me kang yeosang, i'm a very cautious driver. that old bat was gonna cause an accident had i not slowed down." i explain to him.
i stopped in the farthest left hand lane where no cars can drice so we cab switch.
see here i am breaking the law for this man. he better like be back or i'm gone
he drove us all the way to the roller rink. where we walk into hand-in-hand. he said it's in case i get lost which, first of all, HOW TF?? there's nearly no one here.
"you know, yeosang. if you wanted to hold my hand, you could've just said that." i commented making him look at me for a second then back to the entrance of the building.
"don't talk nonsense."
bitch.
after paying and getting our skates, we rolled onto the rink and i immediately fell causing yeosang to erupt in laughter.
"that was so funny." i retort with a straight face.
"it was, i'm glad you have a sense of humor." he tells me, helping me up. his eyes have this glint in them. i can't really tell what it is though, but i like it.
his smile is also so bright. it's very contagious because i'm smiling like an idiot now.
"and if i broke my tailbone? then what?"
"loosen up. here, let me help you." he held both my hands as he shakily guided me to move along with him around the rink.
"how are you gonna help when you're struggling?"
"hush." he smiles at me and of course i mirror that.
we continued skating and occasionally falling while having a casual conversation until we both got tired and went to a frozen yogurt shop.
spending time with him today didn't help the feelings i have for him and if he keeps looking at me like that im gonna combust.
it also made me realize that i actually like him more than i thought i did.
"aaliyah."
"hhmm?" he sighs. not a good sign. at. all. he looks at me with a serious expression and i put down my cup.
"look. i enjoy spending time with you you, i really do."
i do not like where thisbis going. he's gonna tell me hes not interested. or that he only sees me as a friend. OR EVEN WORSE. i sister.
"but you're not interested. thats okay honestly."
"what?? i wasn't gonna say that. interested in what exactly?" oh...
i slightly panic, not knowing what to say to save myself. this has to be the most embarrassing thing to happen to me this month.
"what do you mean? interested in being friends... yeah. friends." i mumble, quickly going to stuff my mouth with frozen yogurt.
"well im not, if that's what youre wondering." i choke.
what was i expecting anyway? i wouldn't fit in with his friends anyway. they're all too cool for me. still kinda hurt though because even if he doesn't like me, we still could've been friends
"what is it then?"
"i don't think i'd be able to be friends with you. not when i have feelings for you." i freeze. i'm fighting the smile that's trying to force itself on my face.
"what?" i ask, feigning confusion.
he looks at me before taking my hand in his.
i think im gonna combust.
"i know youre not that dense. i like you aaliyah. a lot actually but."
"taehyun is your cousin who's also my friend."
"yeah." he looks down.
"well thst sucks doesn't it?" i pick up my cup and continue eating.
"what does?"
"i clearly like you too but like you said, your cousin's my best friend." i take another spoonful while he just looks at me with a blank expression.
"i wanna be with you though. i'm not gonna let something like that holdme away from you." he tells me and i stop eating to look at him. "i really really like you, liyah." he called me by my nickname and now i wanna cry. "call me selfish and all that but im gonna put me first here."
"what?"
"do you ever stop talking?" he smiles at me, and i pout.
"i was literally quiet the whole time."
bitchass.
"as i was saying. you don't have to agree if you don't want to but i really wanna make you my girlfri-"
"i will."
"im regretting this already."
"shut up." i jokingly say as we continue eating our almost melted frozen yogurt.

Prompt: At the end of a long hallway, there's a door that hasn't been opened in decades. Today, someone turns the handle.
Authored by me, D.C.Conrad, Vexascribe
The young boy curiously gripped the old brass door knob and turned it. His father had told him there were a bunch of old paintings of historical scenes and that they were cursed. Every major event in the world going back to the "Battle of Megiddo" in 1457 BCE was painted by the previous owner of the manor.
How foolish did his father really think he was?! He may only be ten years old, but he won't fall for some silly ghost story! Besides, he loved history and wanted to see these paintings and now was his chance while his father was out handling boring work stuff and his mom was working in the garden with the groundskeeper. Amd who knew where his brother was, but he hadn't seen him all day.
It was perplexing as to why the person who owned the house before had disappeared and, if he had left of his own accord, why he would leave all his belongings. Especially paintings if they were as nice as his father had said they were.
A slight groan and a creak were heard as the old wooden door was pushed open. Dust and spider webs littered the immediate area. Almost like a tapestry telling stories of how long it had been since the room had a visitor. How had his father seen the paintings if he had not ventured further in without destroying the webs?
He blinked a few times and shrugged before carefully pushing forward into the room, making sure to not dismantle the webs the arachnids had woven. Thankfully, he was small enough that it was a somewhat easy task for him.
Once he reached the other side of the webs, the only irritant now was the dust. It was a borderline choking hazard, but he was stubborn and curious so he focused on his surroundings.
All around him were paintings. Some were covered with old sheets and hundreds of others were hung up. Each one depicted a scene from events in history. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
He had a smile on his face as he looked at each one. The painter who created these was a master of his, or her, craft. Each one was so perfectly accurate that he became more and more excited as he looked at each of the ones hung up. Until there were no more. In total he had counted two hundred before giving up on counting and just started to focus on the details of each painting.
Now it was time for the covered paintings that lined the room via easels they rested on. The first painting he approached covered by a dusty sheet was one of the larger ones. It had his mind racing a mile a minute as he carefully pulled off the sheet, doing his best to not add more dust to the air.
His excitement faltered a little when he saw what had been painted. It was a scene in outer space of two ships fighting near a planet that somewhat resembles Earth. This wasn't historical and seemed like some sort of sci-fi picture.
Slowly, his hand reached out and he touched the canvas. It felt like one should with oil paints dried on it as far as he could tell. Was this a joke? It couldn't be a prediction! Could it? A huff and he grumbled his disappointment before looking at the one next to it.
"Let's try another one."
With his excitement returning, he moved over to another painting. Yet again, he carefully removed the sheet and, yet again, his excitement vanished.
His brow furrowed and he looked closely at this one. It was the same planet that resembled Earth, but half of it was dying. It was completely painted with a sickly greenish gray color.
Another huff and he stomped a foot out of frustration. This time he was uncertain if he wanted to uncover another. The ones that were covered seemed to be some sort of bleak, sci-fi theme. Definitely wasn't his cup of tea.
Who was he kidding, though? He was still quite curious and wanted to see them all. Perhaps going to the other side of the room would be better.
And that is what he did. He hurried over to the other side of the room and stopped at the largest painting there. Once more, the sheet was pulled back carefully and set down. His excitement didn’t falter this time. At least, not at first.
The painting was of the “Council of 13”, the people who oversaw the world as a whole. Made the decisions on rules, regulations, and took care of the populace. It was very accurate. Every detail of their specific, cultural uniforms and the styling of their hair. This one made him smile, happy to see that it wasn't a sci-fi painting. Even if it wasn't necessarily a historical scene.
With renewed excitement, he moved to the next one. Another painting of the Council, but now there were only twelve standing around the table and the thirteenth leader was dead on the floor in a puddle of her own blood.
His nose scrunched up and he felt anger boiling in his blood. Who was this painter?! Why would he make such depressing, morbid art of the Council! He stomped his feet as he moved onto the next one.
The painting after that was 11 and yet another counselor had died. He was even angrier now, confused on what the heck the artist, whom he had thought was amazing at their skill, was playing with with these paintings now! Had they been a rebel who sought the fall of the global government?
He had to see more! There had to be something in one of these paintings to explain this. The paintings were uncovered one at a time until he reached a painting that had the Council of 13 sitting at the table and all of them were dead. He stared in disbelief and shook his head before he turned to the first painting of the Council and slowly walked to look at each one again, paying even closer attention to details.
All the paintings he had uncovered told a tale of the Council dying off one at a time. In each one a counselor was dead and they appeared older. Not many years older than the previous one, but older none-the-less. An indicator some time had passed between each leader met their end.
He was back to the painting where it depicted all of the counselors sitting at the table dead. There was a bit of tension in him as he eyed the two remaining uncovered paintings before the space battle painting and the Earth dying painting.
With shaky hands, he carefully pulled off the sheet and his eyes widened at the painting. It was beautiful. Another view of Earth, or a planet like Earth, from space and it showed the vibrant colors and space-ships orbiting it. Almost like a shipping dock of coastal cities to get goods to and from destinations around the globe.
But this was in outer space.
His brow furrowed for the millionth time as he studied it, admiring the variety of ships. There was a large ship that had a name painted across its hull. “Galactic Goods Transfer” and a logo that shaped the letters GGT.
A couple other ships that looked akin to a military personnel carrier had names on them, as well. “Vega Vanguard Systems” and “Orion Shield Corp.”
There were a number of other ships but they were smaller and nothing too notable about them. Maybe the artist was working on a story or something, but that still didn’t make sense. Even if he was only ten, he could make the connection that the paintings up on the walls that were uncovered depicted truthful scenes from events in the past. Wars and battles. Celebrations and joyous occasions.
He stood there for a moment then moved to the next painting in line. The sheet was removed for this one, as well, and he looked closely at it like he had the others.
It was a scene of a large monstrous ship that looked nothing like the ships in the previous painting, but it did look similar to one of the ships in the battle painting. A group of humans who went rogue, perhaps?
He studied it closely and saw that Earth still looked beautiful and vibrant in the background behind the ship. There were some of the smaller ships from the previous paintings there, lining up as if to form a line of defenses.
With a shiver, he decided he would go tell his father when he returned what he discovered and see if he could make heads or tails of it all. This was too confusing and mildly terrifying to the young boy.
As he moved towards the door, the chandelier on the ceiling that was already dim, dimmed even more. He stopped at the faint sound of someone sighing, weeping, and groaning in pain. Silence for a moment, the stillness of the room making the boy's flesh pimple like a goose. Then a voice spoke as he headed to the door to leave, startling him and making him jump and knock down some of the spider webs. He had a brief look of sorrow at destroying the hard work of the spiders, but he quickly snapped back to figuring out where the voice was coming from.
“If you leave this room, Nathaniel, the paintings you uncovered will become truths. Do not let the Ruiner’s false visions become a reality.”
Nathaniel looked around, behind paintings and in corners until he was flustered due to not finding anything that could explain where the voice was coming from. He returned to the middle of the room and crossed his arms over his chest, some tears welling up in his eyes.
“Brodie, if you’re playing a prank on me it’s not funny!” His tone was thick with anger and annoyance as he looked around the room for his older brother to step out from some secret location.
“I am not your brother, Nathaniel.”
“Then just who are you?!”
“I am the collective voice of all those who died to remove the Ruiner from this world and prevent his false prophecies from ever being born.”
The young boy looked around some more, the frustration he was feeling began to waiver as he felt some fear.
“When did that happen? How is it possible that you did that and I have never learned about it?”
“Nathaniel, we removed the Ruiner on a separate timeline of this same planet so that he could not become a threat on any plane of existence.”
Nathaniel shivered a little, thinking about some of the ideas the Council of 13 had spoken about how they were able to find ways to create new medicine and sources of food and so on. How it required a group of travelers to visit the brink. Whatever that was.
“The brink is where all timelines converge for a brief moment in time.”
He was startled again when he realized that this invisible entity was reading his mind. A few tears began to run as he felt the frustration once more and it was slowly turning into fear.
“Nathaniel, you won’t be alone. We can bring you into our plane. All we ask is that you do not leave this room. Do not allow the Ruiner's false prophecies to come to fruition.
A choked whimper and he looked around the room. This wasn’t Brodie’s doing. His brother did stupid pranks, but nothing that required this much effort.
This was something he never would have expected. A room with paintings protecting the world from being killed? But he could save it if he didn't leave the room.
He chewed his bottom lip as he thought about it. No more picnics with his mom. No more fishing with his father. And no more Brodie teaching him how to carve wood and wrestle. All things he knew he would miss dearly.
But, it could just be him going away and Earth would be okay. His family would be okay. No guilt tormenting him for being selfish and leaving the room that would lead to the death of Earth.
“Okay,” he said shakily, wiping some tears away.
“You will join us?”
“Y-yes.”
The Collective of Voices all sighed in relief and upon hearing that, it was the first time that Nathaniel actually heard the various people that made this entity up. Women and men.
He looked towards the large painting of the monstrous alien ship as it lit up before a doorway formed. The bright light coming from it, though, did not allow him to see what he would be stepping into, but it was warm and it comforted him in a way.
Nathaniel paused before he entered the bright golden portal, looking around the room then at the door to leave. He would miss his mom. His father and even Brodie.
Quickly, before he could change his mind, he stepped through the portal and left the room.

Oct 15th Jekyll and Hyde E 1
Tumblr media
So there's a Jekyll & Hyde TV adaptation that I did not know about
So firstly fuck all y'all fake for not telling me
It's 2015 show set in the way the back times this is supposedly Jekyll's grandson
It's already peak white savior, he's in India adopted to an Indian family clearly in an attempt to hide... Hyde
Hyde has never been depicted as blind rage from stimulus??
To attack a little girl after trying to save her just due to.. Being amped?
The writing is bad... On purpose idk if camp is accurate term but....
If he's been here since a baby why does he only speak English why is he so British in demeanor and accent why does he walk talk act like a colonize? Why doesn't the small town know him?
Why is he reacting like he's never seen a beggar before
Holy fucking... It is hard to describe how truly racist that was
There's an ashy black man growling grunting like an animal who when the camera panned out is in fact just a head attached to a large dog, he shouts some aggressive omens and then is subsequently shot down.... like a dog... By a bunch of white men in gas masks
To be clear there have been no other black people on screen thus far or since
He said something about the old gods
Look a woman needs rescuing
Help me I'm such a poor civilized white man helpless to control my rage and violence I'm not responsible for my actions
There has been an association with violent episodes and sexual assault so that tracks but again desire
He doesn't desire to hurt the little girl so why would he?
Okay demon wraith and a British officer
Gut shot dad
She invites the guy in who sexually assaulted her
I hoped when they first showed her, her lost eye batting routine was a con and she was going to steal his coin purse
Secret fantasy security service
Look he's exempt
We do things differently here... Like assault women
She's excited about the assault so that's great
MIO zombies wasn't a widely used term at this time in Britain
She's kissing him now, please say she's a MIO agent
Odd time lapse there
Somehow remembered to tip the white bellhop but not the brown one
Pills gone
Still embodiying the racial implications the more Hyde the curly hair comes out
They are somewhat leaning into the monstrous physical form depiction
It tracks that he would refer to him as a monster and him himself identifying with it
Def gotta remind the one Indian dude what's not the British way
Surprise Hyde is interested in the sistah
Depiction is Is over the top camp
The time shifts are poor and do a disservice to the story
The sistah punched a guy for no reason
wow and now she's being ordered to kiss him to save him
Look black lady the only way to save this white man is with your sexual wilds
christ on a cracker
Very rascit Canada especially for being 2015
Negative 40 thousand stars
It's obvious I wasn't told because I of racism but really this is so racist I needed to know about it

I've talked about your Chifuyu, but now I want to talk about your Sanzu, your Shinchiro, and your Koko!
Villainous muses can be hard to write. While not all aspects of Sanzu are of that mindset, he is a largely troubled person, and you handle that with grace and dignity. You describe the details of his struggles while also keeping in mind his humanity, and giving him the same care that you would another person. You are an expert at his dialogue choices, I can see him word for word in every sentence you write! He is a tough character to grasp, but you have mastered his difficulty and I really enjoy seeing him blossom under your care. You keep in mind his childhood struggles alongside his current ones, and showcase how they affect his every action. You keep in mind his underlying issues, and you create little cracks to show how much they genuinely impact him to this day. I honestly didn't pay him much mind until I saw you writing him, and now I go back and search for him!
And your Shinchiro is nothing short of delightful. You depict the struggles of being a big brother who has unsavory ties wonderfully, alongside the conflict it creates internally. The split between brother and gang member becomes blurry in his mind sometimes, and you show how that occurs and why it does, and how although he has so, so, so much to deal with, he always remains happy. There is never a time in which he isn't, and you show his strength fantastically. He is one of the strongest characters, and you make sure that isn't forgotten.
Lastly, I really admire your Koko! Koko is a character who, at first glance, may appear a one track mind, but you remind readers that he isn't. That, in reality, he has so much going on that at times his only anchor *is* his greed. It's what keeps him stable despite everything, and I love how, through wording, you show just that. He could be thinking one thing, but before he lets himself go too far, he pulls himself back and stabilizes himself with the one thing that's been there; his gift, and his money. I also love the tragedy in which you portray his love for Inupi, and Akane. You don't make light of his entangled feelings, and I love how much light you shed *on* these feelings. I deeply, deeply love your Koko, and I can't wait to see more.
Also, I am beyond excited to see more of your Diluc! Same goes for your Thoma, Aether, and Amber - I know they'll be lovely. ❤️
This is being written in parts because it's so long but also because I'm bad at words so.
But thank you. I've said before but I always worry about doing my muses justice and I want people to enjoy reading the posts because they're close to character. I don't want to write them so far off that they aren't them, and Sanzu was one of the ones that I've always worried for the most. Especially since I haven't written him a ton as far as actual threads.
Shinichiro is another I sort of worried for but it's easy enough to get his aura/personality since we never see him anything other than happy, aside from with his mother. Even at the shop incident, he wasn't really even angry or anything.
And lastly, Koko.. honestly if it wasn't for the fact that he never shuts up in the back of my mind about how much he thinks about Shane's Inui and such, then I likely would have dropped him long ago. I never really feel like I get him accurate, but then again that comes and goes. But I do look forward to get I get enough energy and focus to come back full force and take the proper time with everyone. I've neglected all of my muses so much recently. 😩
I look forward to getting to write them, and I'm also hoping to maybe even add some more in the future. Someone did suggest Bennett to me so I've been considering that a little bit.

In this house, we are all NOT okay (referring to latest episode)
Bro. Dude. I was losing my mind. I have so many thoughts and im gonna say em. Spoilers under the cut.
Elsewhere Elsewhen was possibly the most insightful look into Belos's mindset we could have gotten. I've stated DOZENS of times how hard Belos was to write accurately when we didn't know his full story. Eventually I landed on the vague idea of "I guess he just doesn't care about anyone other than himself," but we still didn't know why. Plus, it never really fit in with the wording of Phillip's journal entries, if one was sticking to the Belos is Phillip theory before the reveal.
Him turning out to just be an entitled piece of shit is the BEST OUTCOME. It makes so much sense? The moments before and after Lilith punched him just rocked my world – that was a guy who was used to bullshitting his way out of situations, and was NOT used to anyone ignoring "proper" retaliation and just straight up clocking him. I was legit expecting him to have SOME sort of physical power to back up his smug look. I wasn't expecting the blow to actually land, and Lilith was going to miss or get her ass handed to her like how Hunter did to Eda and Luz in Separate Tides. But this dude just straight up riled Luz and Lilith up with nothing else to back him up and was surprised when she punched him. That alone just... reveals SO much character.
AND THE GLYPH CONVERSATION! Phillip mentioned that he felt like the isles were hiding the glyphs from him, but he found the glyphs in the same way that Luz did – finding the ice glyph in a snowflake, which is JUST how she found it. He isn't being picked out and made to suffer by the Titan, he's just entitled and he thinks nothing is his fault.
(I'm honestly waiting for Whittebro to be in the same vein of entitlement, at least in the beginning. Like, they're brothers that probably used to get along before the "betrayal of blood" thing. Maybe he's less of an ass and makes the "Whittebro was a Clawthorne" theory canon, which would kind of be interesting if that's one of the reasons Post-bad-shit Phillip hates witches. That "WITCHES" outburst in the cave felt,,, loaded with baggage. But who knows at this point – TOH is so good at writing complex characters that I'm not expecting a black-and-white depiction of anyone.)
Also the time travel bullshittery. Belos definitely orchestrated them finding the Time Pools, right? With Flora's comments and Lilith saying that the Exact Equipment She Needed was in her emperor's coven office box that was JUST returned to her? GOD I HATE TIME TRAVEL.
