Truth (2) | b.b
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Stark!Reader, Past Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader, OC x Stark!Reader (brief)
Genre: Fluff with a touch of angst.
Summary: Sam and Bucky call on the only Stark left in the Superhero business—codename Static—to help take down the Flag Smashers. Only problem is, she’s pretty damn reluctant.
(These scenes incorporate y/n into the pre-existing story as a character without making drastic changes to the plot or mythos. All the major plot points from the MCU remain in place with the addition of the reader as Static, who is not only a Stark but also enhanced. Whatever events from the canon aren't mentioned, take place without much change.)
Warnings: Swearing.
a/n: Aight, aight. Here’s the skinny; I function purely on attention and praise, so please leave a comment. I’m a narcissist; I make no apologies. I love reading your hot takes. Entertain me in exchange for all the entertainment I’m providing you. Also oh, the tag list is open.
sidenote: So the reader is pretty fucking queer... like me. In my head, she's also POC... like me... so do with that what you will.

The moment Bucky exits the airport gate, a black Triumph Thunderbird Storm rolls in next to him, the rider’s face covered under the helmet. He can’t help but admire the motorcycle, it’s stylish, classic, and bold. Bucky’s starting to realize that might just be his type. Smiling to himself over the thought, he moves to walk past the bike only to stop in his tracks when he hears a voice call out—
“Where you goin’, sunshine?”
He turns back to find Y/n Stark… sitting on a motorcycle, smiling back at him.
Y/n Stark on a fucking motorcycle, smiling and calling him sunshine.
He’s frozen.
“You alright there, Sarge?” She asks jovially, probably basking in Bucky's stunned silence.
“Where’d you get that?” is all that comes out of his mouth because everything else he can think of is very, very inappropriate. Especially seeing as these thoughts are regarding Steve’s girl.
The smile falls right off her face as she says, “You don’t wanna know.”
Thank fuck, something else for Bucky to focus on, “Now I definitely wanna know. Where’d you get it?”
“Trust me, you don’t wanna know,” she replies, adamant.
“Did you hotwire it?” Bucky asks, concerned.
Y/n balks at him, “You think I’m a goddamn heathen? Who the fuck looks at a perfectly good Triumph and decides to hotwire it? That’s fucking blasphemous, James.”
“Then where the hell did you get it?” He asks again.
“I built it!”
Yeah. Yep. Bucky really did not want to know that. Because now she’s not just the hot, badass, smart, woman who is kind to Bucky; she’s also the hot, badass, smart, kind woman who can build a motorcycle. And Bucky Barnes is completely and absolutely floored. She could not get any hotter if she tried. She can’t. For fuck’s sake, if there’s a God out there somewhere, please tell him that she can’t. He's begging.
Bucky’s brain short circuits. His eyes are bulging out and he thinks he might be having a stroke.
“Told you, you didn’t wanna know,” she mutters, breaking him out of his comatose state.
“Hot,” his mouth spits out before he can stop it. Upon realizing what he’s just said he tries to recover, “I mean—”
“I know,” she cuts him off with a wink. "The sun tends to do that to the weather," she adds with a coy smile, telling him she knows that is not what he meant at all.
She finally gets off the bike, pulls up the seat revealing a storage compartment. She pulls out a helmet matching her own, handing it to him. He takes it without question.
Now that he can get a better look he notices she’s wearing olive green trousers with a matching cropped blazer and a white collared oversized shirt. As she moves to close the trunk and swing onto the bike Bucky notices, brown suspenders peeking out from underneath the blazer, which matches her brown boots.
Finally having settled herself on the motorcycle, she turns to him and asks, “You planning on getting on or just... running the rest of the way?” She nods to the seat behind her.
“Whoever said you were Stark in name only, never met you,” He grumbles as he gets on and puts on his helmet. He places the case he’s carrying between them (very reluctantly).
She chuckles as she revs up and begins driving away.
The trip is pretty short but feels painfully long to Bucky. The proximity, the ease with which Y/n navigates the roads, and the sun glistening over them, make him recognize that whatever he feels for her is not going to go away anytime soon, regardless of his devotion to Steve.
Once they are nearby, they notice commotion coming from the docks. Bucky can hear Sam’s voice somewhere in the crowd of people. So the couple decides to park the bike there and head over.
They spot Sam talking to a couple older gentlemen about moving some equipment off the truck in front of him. And Bucky never said he was above showing off, did he? So he picks up the whole thing, dropping it onto some boxes.
Turning back to Sam he says, “You’re welcome.” He then picks up the case and places it on the truck. Sam walks over to stand next to him. “Just dropping this off,” Bucky says, moving a few steps back as Sam looks at the case curiously. “You can sign for it and I'll go,” he adds. He can hear Y/n chuckle behind him. Sam touches the top of the case gently. ”I called in a favor from the Wakandans,” Bucky informs him.
Sam looks back at him intently. But before the conversation can start, a pipe bursts open behind them and begins hissing. “Sam!” A woman calls out, running in.
Sam walks over, stepping onto the boat, picking up a wrench, and trying to tighten the leak shut.
“Hi,” Bucky smiles at the woman, charmingly, as he slowly follows Sam.
“Hi,” she replies with a smile of her own.
“Hey,” he can hear Y/n say.
“Hi,” she replies again, and Bucky can hear a smile in there too.
But he doesn’t have time to focus on that cause ahead of him Sam grunts, struggling with the pipe. “Hold on, hold on. Hold on,” he says gently patting at Sam’s side, and Sam moves away. He takes the wrench from his hand pulling it in the opposite direction to Sam, he says, “You gotta go up.” And viola the hissing stops.
He steps back to stand next to Sam. He puts the wrench down.
“Why didn't you use the metal arm?” Sam inquires.
“Well... I don't always think of it immediately,” he looks down at his left arm, “I'm right-handed,” he concedes.
Sam just chuckles in response.
“So, this is the boat, huh?” Bucky asks, looking around. Sam turns around to lean back onto the ledge.
“This is it,” Sam declares, affection clear in his voice.
“It's nice,” Bucky notes, turning and leaning as well.
“What T-800 means to say is; would you like some help?” Y/n asks from in front of them, with a smile.
Sam looks from her to him and says, “Yeah,” and walks off.
Looking up he spots the woman again, “I'm Bucky,” he waves with his most adorable smile.
“Ah. Sam’s friend,” she notes.
Before Bucky can say anything to dispute it, “Oh yea, Sam’s best friend,” Y/n cuts in with a smile of her own.
“And you are?” the woman asks Y/n.
“Y/n,” she supplies, wearing a smile that makes Bucky weak in the knees. “You must be Sarah. Sam talks about you…”
“He does, does he?” Sarah asks.
Y/n nods easily and says, “Forgot to mention how gorgeous you are, though. But we’ll let that slide in lieu of how hectic it’s been.” She winks. She fucking winks. And Sarah swoons. Not that Bucky can blame her, because he’s been on the receiving end of that wink and it is beyond swoon-worthy.
“Quit flirting with my sister!” Sam shouts out from a few steps to their left, “Or I’m sending you back.”
Y/n throws her hands up in defeat, as Sam turns around. And the moment he does, she turns back to Sarah and adds, “I think he doesn’t like sharing the spotlight.”
Sarah giggles in response.
Bucky’s beyond fucked.
The three of them begin working on the boat and keep at it till the late hours of the afternoon. Bucky uses his arms and whatever knowledge he’d gathered working at the docks before the war to show off, now and again. And honestly, cut the man some slack, alright? The woman he’s fawning over seems to be doing all that and more with so much ease, it’s throwing him off his game.
As the sun begins to set, Sam and Bucky grab a couple beers and sit on the deck.
Sam’s staring at the case in front of him, set upon a couple boxes.
“Well,” Bucky grunts as he gets up off his seat. Reaches down to clink his beer with Sam’s and adds, “Gotta catch my flight tomorrow,” he takes one last sip, putting it down and picking up his jacket from behind him, “Get a hotel room for the night. Crash, you know?”
“You're just gonna set me up like that, huh?” Sam asks rhetorically.
“I don't wanna make it weird for your family,” he means it very genuinely.
“Just stay here,” Sam urges him gently, “The people in this town are the most welcoming people in the world. They don't care if you wear small T-shirts,” he points at Bucky’s chest, “or if you have six toes or if your mom's your aunt—”
Bucky chuckles, cutting him off, “—Okay, I get it. I mean, you know, the people are nice,” he concedes with a smile.
Sam laughs at him, widely. He likes watching Sam laugh, he notes. “But don't flirt with my sister,” the smile is gone, just like that.
“No,” Bucky acquiesces.
“'Cause if you do, I'll have Carlos cut you up, feed you to fish,” Sam warns him.
“Uh-huh,” he hums unconvinced. “Shouldn’t you be threatening Y/n instead of me?” He asks, incredulous.
“Oh, I won't have to,” Sam ventures, “if you ask her out…”
Bucky loses his footing, which is shocking considering he’s standing on even ground. “What—” he squeaks. He clears his throat and tries again “What the hell are you talking about, man?”
Sam laughs at him, “Oh come on,” he rebukes. “You obviously like her.”
Bucky makes several noises, none of which are denials but cannot be considered admissions if brought forth in a court of law.
Sam downs the last of his beer, chuckling, “Oh yeah, now I’m convinced. You’re totally not into her,” he mocks. “Admit it, man. She’s got you wrapped around her little finger.” He takes a sip from his beer.
Before Bucky can protest, the woman herself walks in.
Now, remember how Bucky pleaded for her to not get any hotter? Yeah well, God is dead because there she stands. She’s discarded her blazer and the sleeves of her oversized white shirt are rolled up to her elbow, and the two buttons on top have been unbuttoned. Her suspenders are now on full display and her hair is blowing softly in the wind. The setting sun is making her shimmer, almost, and making him want to weep at the sight. So yeah, God is dead. Because all Bucky can focus on is the small speck of paint on her chin and how terribly, insatiably he wants to be one to rub it off.
She leans down pulling out a beer from the icebox in front of them and moves to stand next to Bucky. She uncaps the bottle with her teeth and begins chugging… and downs the whole thing in one pretty long sip. She puts down the now empty bottle next to her.
“Clearly, you’re not driving,” Sam notes, but his voice has a hint of admonition.
“I could,” she argues.
Sam and Bucky look back at her, cocking their eyebrows.
“Alien metabolism,” she explains before adding, “But, I thought we were crashing at your place.”
Sam nods, “You are.”
“T-800 staying?” She asks Sam, nodding at Bucky.
Bucky doesn’t really appreciate being talked about like he’s not there but the speck of paint has encompassed so much of his attention he can barely remember to breathe. So he concedes to himself.
He takes a step towards her, reaching over and gently rubbing it off. Y/n, he notices, stuns at the contact but does not stop him. She looks back into his eyes, as he focuses on her lips. Lips, which he might add, fall open at the touch. His thumb lingers a couple seconds longer than necessary as his eyes flint up to her. And for a good few moments, Bucky forgets that there could be a world outside of this one moment because he notices a blush creep up her cheeks. He has made the impossible happen and he feels fucking ineffable.
Until Sam breaks the moment, chuckling. He nods again. “He is.”
Bucky pulls his hand back (reluctantly) at the same time as Y/n steps away, looking around.
Well, fuck.
He’s made Y/n Stark fluster.
Clearing her throat and shoving her hands into her pocket, she says, “Alright then we’re cooking dinner. How do tacos sound?”
Sam gets up from his seat and says, “No, no. You’re not cooking. You’re the guests.”
“No, we’re the crashers. And it’s only fair,” she says adamantly.
“You don’t have to,” Sam states.
“We want to,” Y/n ensures.
Sam looks at Bucky then, “Do you want to?”
Now, Bucky cannot cook for shit. And he certainly cannot make tacos. So looks back helplessly at Y/n, who nods with a smile, her arm coming to brush his. He looks back at Sam, “We want to,” he recites, putting on a fake smile of his own.
“It’s settled then,” she exclaims.
Sam just laughs and jerks his pinky up and down, mocking Bucky.
Wrapped around her little finger.
And as per usual he thinks, well fuck.

Women of Ottoman make me so sad especially when people hate on them. Those women lived horrible lives. Most of them were kidnapped, sold, thrown under a psycho Padisah. How can you wait for them to care for your kingdom? Of course they were going to survive for themselves and for their children. None of them deserves the hate they get. I hope God put all of them in peace. No human should go through such terrible things.
Totally agree Anon.
Women from Ottoman Empire cannot be for example compared with women from the West – first and foremost, they were slaves that at the very beginning lost their families, homes and even had to change their name and religion to have any chance at making a new life. Some lost their families very early, and often it also affected them emotionally when they grew up without having familial bonds. Even as consorts, they were one of many, and they had no legal status outside their children, Even mothers of princes other than hasekis were referred to as “Mother of Prince X” in records, and mothers of daughters were even more invisible. They had a very limited access to outside world, there was no way a woman could ascend the throne as a ruler in her own reign, other than as regent. Not to mention all matters connected with fratricide and kafes, it was living in constant fear. It’s hard to compare them to European queens, who had more stable and safe position even if they also had to face misogyny and oppression .
It was no fairytale, even in the show that didn’t show a lot of atrocities involved in slave trade and focused on those women who still somewhat “succeeded”.
I will use this opportunity to discuss some double standards about those who succeeded vs. those who didn’t pertaining to the TV show, but will later come to the crux, I promise.
The faux feminism in this fandom is astounding to me,including the glaring obvious double standards depending on who fan favourite is - and fan favourite is often who is simply “the coolest”, “most victorious”, “most stylish”, “most lucky”, generally young, beautiful, badass, and successful, not sad or depressed. We all know reactions to Hürrem and Mahidevran doing the same things back in original MY - when Mahidevran did awful things to Hürrem, she was just pathetic jealous woman, but when Hürrem did multiple times the same or worse things to other women it was “yass queen” and she ‘fights for her love, so touching, so strong, so great, self defence”. Suddenly Hürrem is allowed to do so because she”s “not like other girls, so not like these pathetic dumb losers”. Hürrem was strong, cunning, and smart, but she also had one clear advantage over all her “enemies” - the love of the most powerful man in Ottoman history. She made multiple mistakes too, but could always count on Suleiman turning a blind eye or forgiving her - something that Mahidevran or others could never count on.
Frankly, even Hürrem vs. Mustafa was often treated more as Hürrem vs. all this “pathetic” women that fought for Mustafa’s case aka Mahidevran or Suleiman’s sisters in fandom. Suddenly Mustafa cannot even defend his own mother because he immediately had it coming for “choosing the wrong side”. Even if you disapprove of him defending/not abandoning his mother, e.g. choosing to poison him sounds a little disproportionate, don’t you think? I said it and I will repeat it again – Hürrem is a character very similar to Cersei – yes, she suffered a lot because of a system devaluing women and yes she’s a survivor and a strong woman who managed to make life for herself in that system – but she’s not a feminist character because she actually only uses the system to her own advantage (and often perpetuates it), and actually displays a lot of traits of internalised misogyny, voicing multiple times how she is different from other girls and this is why she must be the only one by Suleiman’s side, while other women aren’t even entitled to dream about such things. She condemns Mahidevran for wanting to be the only one and being jealous, but then when Suleiman is with other woman she’s all “I’m not like pathetic Mahidevran, I must be the only one”. Same with multiple comments that she often makes… Hürrem was sassy &sarcastic, and had many good comebacks, but it makes me sad how people often cheered on and applauded those worst ones that again display internalised misogyny, like her mocking Mahidevran why she cares about her appearance so much when she doesn’t have a man to share a bed with? Or her again being all “I will give birth to many boys, and you won’t even give birth to a girl”. Again, that whole society was misogynistic and other women also were influenced by it, like they all wanted to give birth to a boy mostly…but often it is about status and wanting to raise/maintain rank, while Hürrem boasts the fact that she gives birth to many boys as again a trait to show how special&strong she is, even part of her reaction to Mihrimah’s birth is her unable to accept the fact that she could give birth to a girl and being disgusted by the fact.. yes, she accepts her later on and her reaction does also stem from being aware of how misogynist the system is, but it shows precisely that – yes, she is influenced by the system and suffered because of it, but at the same time she begins to display same behaviour that she suffered from, tries to cut herself from others in disadvantaged position. And yes, not all characters had similar reactions to giving births to daughters, and mind you Hürrem already had a son&became sultana, plus was Suleiman’s clear fave that could hope for more children. She wasn’t in the worst situation, even Hafsa and Suleiman were very happy at birth of a girl and nobody criticised her for it. Conversely, in MYK Kösem states multiple times that she wants to give Ahmed both sons and daughters, and when she’s pregnant with her second child, she says she wants a girl now for a change. Even when Ayşe hopes for a boy so that Murad’s anger may be melted, she’s happy about Kaya’s birth&clearly loves the baby from the start & is distraught when she is taken from her. Hürrem was never intended to be viewed as feminist, always justified heroine.. this is why instead of making her first bad deed be a revenge on Mahidevran, who had treated her horribly and unfairly, she attacked the person who was most kind to her of them all and who recently went through the same exact shit. Some people hate Gülnihal, but then say Hürrem wasn’t a homewrecker because she had the right to make life for herself in harem.. true, but so did Gülnihal, and it’s not like she could refuse to go to Suleiman’s chambers pls. It wasn’t to be seen as right, it was clearly shown that Hürrem can be both the oppressed and oppressor at the same time from the start. If they had wanted to make her character only all about revenge, they would have again made her gone after Mahi, not innocent Gülnihal, her “best friend”. And people going how Mahi is irredeemable, but with Hürrem it’s so okay because she’s cool while she slays..eh. I admit I never liked Hürrem because personally she never appealed to me, but I totally get why people stan her because she’s an interesting, three-dimensional character (and yes she does have a softer side too), I’m just bothered by some making her some empowered heroine who is excused for everything by the fact that she was a slave and suffered a lot because of it – because you know she is not the only one who went through the same shit – the harem is full of such women, for start. Even statesmen like Ibrahim or Rüstem are slaves (of course as men they have more opportunities for a career etc.), eunuchs attending ladies are slaves… This whole system is based on slavery, yet she often behaves & talks like she’s the only one who lost her family, was kidnapped & mistreated.
And even Nurbanu becoming her successor was accidental because she actually wanted her dead later, though of course Nurbanu was still clearly inspired by her. She never intended for anyone to follow her example and to make her elevation become a permanent element of Ottoman system, and it’s symbolised by her decision to bury the “ring of power” (lol) with her (though of course what Nurbanu did with taking it anyway was plain disgusting).
I think that trying to examine why this character behaves like that is more interesting than simply go YASSS QUEEN.
Thus said, I hate these reductive“takes” calling these women “bitches” because yes there are complex reasons why some of them have become pretty cruel, so while there are no excuses for some of the behaviour, the simple word “bitch” does not cut it at all.
/Yes, I discussed Hürrem here because out of all MY/K characters she seems to be the least hated among major female characters & biggest fan favourite,/
Anyway, the point is that neither Hürrem nor Mahidevran are the villains of the story. The show makes it clear in its last episodes that Suleiman is the true villain – he was the most powerful man at that time, when the padisah’s position was truly strong, as Gülfem put it in the finale “even leaf cannot fall without your approval”. He’s not as dumb or passive as it may seem at first glance -of course he needs to pretend to be objective and just, but he has his own agenda just as everyone else. Moreover, he pretended to be the one trying to ease conflicts… yet he was often the one enhancing them. Even from the start when he gave the ring he had promised Mahidevran to Hürrem&and in many ways humiliated her… then he did the same with giving Isabella necklace he had promised Hürrem. Bah, it was clear he often enjoyed making Hürrem jealous because it flattered his ego. He ultimately even enhanced the conflict between Selim and Bayezid to get rid of the latter, who was “the more dangerous son”. He was always pulling the strings.. he allowed Selim to buy Bayezid from Tahmasp by the way he conducted negotiations because he knew Bayezid would get rid of his brother on the road. It’s practically what Gülfem says to him in last episode again. He knew what backlash was directed at him following Mustafa’s death and he didn’t want another son killed in front of him. As Mahidevran said in the final episode to Mihrimah “It was your father who chose the lives we lived for all of us”. He was the one that determined the fate for everyone. And even if Mihrimah did not want to admit it in any way in front of her mother’s enemy, she pretty much understood then that Selim was also her father’s puppet in a way and it’s my guess why she ultimately decides to leave the palace instead of plotting revenge for Bayezid (and we know she would eventually be back). It was Suleiman who was pulling strings all along throughout the whole show, even sometimes by choosing to refrain from acting.
In MYK, the situation is different that we deal with incompetent, weak or even tyrannical sultans, who are also sometimes danger to ordinary people or break the Imperial law. Kösem acts here like the protector of sultanate and again we see different standards. Can you imagine how criticised Kösem would be if she had used similar methods to Murad’s or even once had gone to on “night spree” and executed people for banning all these dumb prohibitions? Yet for many Murad is the “cool guy” and “poor misunderstood Murad”. Calling Kösem a tyrant.. please you have an actual tyrant here. Look how much criticism she gets for saying “I’m the state”, while Murad calls himself “shadow of God on Earth” , “sole owner of the Ottoman Empire”, “I’m the justice” , “true death” etc. all the time and he’s “badass”. Or how she’s criticised because she dared to try to influence the Divan to convince Murad to change punishment for his prohibitions. She’s an “usurper”, not the guy who enacts unjust law and oppresses his subjects.
And here we come to crux – look at how Suleiman is treated in MY, everyone is flattering him, he’s the one who for most time isn’t blamed for what is happening, everyone strives to be in his good graces, his sons step on their toes around him and idealise him even when he behaves like a total asshat. Even when he dies people try to remember him for his “magnificence”
Now look at Kösem, a female ruler, who was turned by scapegoat by people when something went bad and she had far less freedom to make choices and yet far more criticism, blame shifting and insults thrown her way. Suleiman is credited “for making sacrifices for the Empire”… but he really didn’t have to execute all the people he decided to kill, and his decisions truly affected everyone badly and led to further mess, starting from Ibrahim’s.. It was especially visible in case of Mustafa – he was obviously innocent and didn’t intend to rebel, but after what happened rebellions did begin.Conversely, each difficult decision that Kösem made led to stabilisation in Empire and prevented unrest, yet what she does is interpreted by some as “wanting power for sake of power” because woman cannot act in favour of state nation or dynasty – there’s only personal interest or power hunger. Her life is clearly framed as tragedy both by the “curse” of her witnessing the death of everyone she loved and her death being a parallel scene to her capture - because she was never truly free.
Interestingly, IMO Suleiman for all his talent and his achievements, fucked up the succession issue – succession by combat truly began to run its course during that period & no longer even fulfilled functions for which it was practiced – to put on the throne “the strongest” contender, one with the biggest support, also most successful military commander – while it’s true that era of conquest was naturally over and Empire had to become more sedentary, it still doesn’t make Selim the strongest or best suited candidate for the throne after Suleiman – his not going on campaigns etc. and being more of palace sultan had nothing to do with him recognising the transformation, but simply lack of interest in state matters and preferring to have fun than to rule. He wasn’t some demon, but he was terribly passive & lazy. And him not being a warrior was the least of his problems. Suleiman had extreme power and authority, he introduced first law reform after Mehmed the Conqueror – the fact that he allowed such contest (and well his sons didn’t even wait for his death to start a civil war) was a bad decision when it came to long-term planning. Some may say maybe he would have done something concerning move to seniority if one of Hürrem’s sons had been the eldest… maybe, but we will never know. Contrary, while all Ahmed’s sons died during Kösem’s lifetime, we know her legacy connected with anti-fratricide law lived on – after her death fratricide was a rare occurrence with only a few special exceptions in specific circumstances.
Of course there’s also the matter that Suleiman’s era and Kösem’s era were totally different – here it was even a success to manage to stabilise Empire. And here we need to stress how important context is – I always stress how important it is to assess historical figures in context – for me it’s hard to even compare, let’s say Kösem and Hürrem, because they lived in different ages and fulfilled different roles, let alone comparisons between historical figures from other parts of the world, perhaps even from different age. I can’t understand e.g. why Peirce compared Kösem and Turhan to Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart in Empress of the East – both situations were completely different, the only thing they had in common was that there was a power struggle between two powerful women, which ended with one of them executing the other (and we don’t even have 100% confirmation of Turhan ordering Kosem’s execution because such thing wasn’t officially in her power). I appreciate Peirce a lot, but TBH this comparison was just dumb for a professional historian.
Kösem’s case really shows how loss of innocence may be used as weapon against you – very early on, she gets the lesson even with Ahmed – the moment she first became involved with scheming following the death of her father, he got mad at her for the duration of her whole pregnancy – he didn’t ask why she had done it or any other details – she wasn’t his “ideal fantasy” from the portrait anymore and this was what mattered – and only then changed his mind when after so many futile attempts made by Kösem to talk to him, she finally forced him to listen to her explanations & motivations, and subsequently he became all “I will make everyone pay for every tear of yours & for making us endure pain of separation”. Ah okay, but don’t forget about yourself ;) And once Kösem stopped being “şehzade’s dream” with death of Ahmed and was truly her own political leader, she became to be more and more exposed to this with the passing of time and once she acquainted more and more power.
And don’t forget some male historians praising Turhan for “giving the power back to the rightful hands aka men”… it tells you all, and it’s false anyway, since it didn’t mean Turhan losing interest in state affairs and only caring about the harem (and honestly, “Köprülü was “her man”, she didn’t choose someone she had no influence upon). That was what she decided the Empire needed at that particular moment, not because she realised that politically involved women sucked lmao.

your miyuki headcanons and designs are so valid, WOW 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
(Thank you!! I rarely come across anyone's interpretation of Miyuki I don't love, so I apologize to anyone I have subconsciously ripped off.
Her wardrobe is fun to play with. She looks pretty in most anything. ^^
She seems to range from Disney Princess sweet to hardcore evil/ badass space empress as far as the fandom versions of her go.
Mine is both with a little femme fatale and powerpuff thrown in, depending on the point on the timeline and depending on the perspective of who knew her. You will see more of her :D)
Yeet "I'm a HUGE Miyuki fan too! I know she fell before I was born, but I still salute her. I am loyal to almighty Purple, but, I guess I relate to her more closely or-- well, I guess I can't relate to her other than in the sense we're both fema-- women. She was tall and powerful and stylish and flawlessly beautiful. I'm just a little canon fodder drone. Pie to donuts...
I look up to her, I should say.
The first silk doll I ever made was of late Miyuki. I loved her first jubilee robes so I replicated the ensemble as closely as I could. It's a terrible piece. An insult to the real Irken. She's more cheap felt than silk and I've cuddled her so often, she's worn, but my plushee Miyuki is my favorite possession. Sometimes I sit and talk to her in my break cubby.
I tell her about my problems and ask her how I should handle them. She was smart and tough. I try to do as she would. It makes me kind of sad I will never get to meet her."
I know I will never measure up to be the woman she was, not literally or figuratively, but if I try really hard every day, maybe I could come close. That would be awesome!"

The vampires and preferences. Taken from @arcxnumvitae and @thewolfisawake. I’ve also written out who is taken relationship-wise just to make sure it’s not confusing.
Megane: What isn’t this woman into? Pretty much everything and anything. She literally is the furthest from picky you can get and is the literal definition of pansexual. Men, women, any gender, any species, she’s the type to find something attractive about everyone.
Haru: Women with an attitude. A woman who isn’t afraid to tell him no. Confidence, long dark hair with no particular preference on a color other than that. He likes a woman with style, someone who can take his BS and fire it right back. A baker is a huge selling point since he has such a big sweet tooth. And he’s definitely not into a woman who shows too much skin, funnily enough. He does actually like some modesty in that department and keeping certain things to the imagination until they’ve gotten to that point.
Minami: Intelligence, a man who can give her a challenge in some way shape or form. She has what usually comes off as a harsh and severe type of personality, can be quite controlling and is a bit of a neat freak so they’d have to be able to handle that with ease. Mystery is a big seller for her though because she’s so used to knowing mostly everything that when she comes across someone or something she doesn’t know or can’t figure out she’s instantly intrigued.
Seto: He isn’t a sexually active man and isn’t really interested in becoming one. But if he were, it’d likely be with someone soft and caring, but still confident and strong. He’s got a thing for good voices and no particular preference for men or women. At the same time, he doesn’t like anyone who talks too much because he really enjoys the quiet and peaceful times.
Kensei: Strong and fierce warrior type women. Holy crap can he be weak to soldiers. Especially when she’s actually in a uniform. Skills with a weapon of any kind, good training, someone who knows how to show respect where it’s deserved and demands the same in return. Confidence but without it being overbearing.
Vasilios (unavailable): Long dark hair, coy smiles, flirty personalities, and intense eyes. He’s never had any preference of one gender over another but he does prefer thicker women, whether that’s simply curves or even those with some weight on them. Bigger girls. Men though he likes lean and fit. But more so than anything he likes a battle for dominance. Whether he ends up the dominant one or submissive doesn’t matter nearly as much as the fight itself. Plus he is hypersexual and shit if someone can match his urges, needs, and stamina then man is he in heaven.
Raiden: Women. Women. Women. Gosh, he’s far from picky. Cute girls, gorgeous girls, badass girls, dorky girls. It doesn’t matter because Raiden will find every girl he meets to be utterly beautiful in their own right. Which of course means he’s sexually attracted to them too.
Ariadne: While she prefers men more, she isn’t against women on the subject. She likes height, attitude, someone who can take her fiery personality and deal it right back. She also seems to prefer humans more so than not. But other than that there isn’t a lot she’s shown interest in.
Zephyr: Zephyr is a lover and a fighter but boy is he such a huge sap of a lover too. Big gestures, lots of teasing, old school courting type stuff gets him the most. He likes to banter, someone with a big heart and a playful side. And man he has the hots for the motherly types. Women with thick curves, nice thighs, big chests but a thoughtful and caring smile but eyes that speak of wisdom and experience. Men with more athletic builds, nice hair and a charming personality.
Odette: I don’t really know for sure with her but I think she’d prefer someone gentle. Someone she feels she can trust. She does prefer men, she’s had quite a few bad times with women before and doesn’t trust them as easily. But I don’t think she even knows what she’s attracted to since she’s never really been given the chance to explore it.
Shiori (taken): Assholes. Fuck she loves someone with an attitude, a smart mouth, and a good smirk. I mean, technically I’d think she’d have an easier time with women considering her past with men. Sarcasm, someone with a violent streak who can handle her.
Ichirou (taken): Strong, confident, independent women. Women with goals and priorities. Stylish women with curves that could break his neck from looking back. There’s just something utterly entrancing about a woman who doesn’t need anyone else.
Yuka (taken): Never really had a preference in most ways, but she likes revealing eyes, charming smiles. Oh yeah and nice voices with really good accents. She likes someone who she can talk to, feels comfortable with. And she definitely has a thing for taller people and thick hair.
Ayame (taken): someone who is calming, feels safe. Someone with a bright smile and this warmth that makes her feel alive. Musically talented in any way is a huge bonus for her. Someone with a relatively sunny disposition and affectionate. Adventurous personalities but nothing that overbearing personality wise like overly confident or self-assured. Someone with a warm and gentle presence.
Liam (unavailable): Sexual wise, Liam is far from picky. Generally, because he uses such things as a distraction more than anything else. But preference wise he does seem to have a thing for the unusual ladies. One he can’t quite understand and ones that take him by surprise. He’s a leg man and loves long legs and creamy thighs and can be so easily ruined when that’s used against him. Short skirts, heels, tight jeans, a nice rear, boy he’ll fall apart at the seams if she has a sexy walk too.
Kaname: No clue! Kaname is still a mystery to me. I know physical attraction is possible and that there’s no particular preference but he is like the image of Demisexual and won’t feel attraction in the slightest until a bond is formed.

For the Star Wars questions- 16 & 19. :)
Thank you!!! (y’all this got ridiculously long for two damn questions lol)
Send me a number and i’ll tell u my fave/least fave:
16. Book/Comic (Aight, so I’m actually not a huge comic reader in general, most of my comic knowledge comes from other fans on here posting about them, so this is gonna be mainly book-focused)
FAVE:  Welllllll, since I’m literally incapable of narrowing down my favorite anythings, I’m gonna do faves for both canon and EU novels.
Canon-wise, it’s a tie beween A New Dawn and Ahsoka.  I know I don’t post about them as much on here, but I truly have a super soft spot for Kanera and Kanan and Hera’s characters, they’re just so GOOD and I love themmmmm aaaaaaaaa.  You get super good insights to how Kanan was running wild and traumatized and trying to repress everything and how Hera was a little naïve but still tough as nails and she had a dream and she was going to make it happen or so help her, ugh I just love how the story showed how they’re strongest as a team working together and I just love character dynamics where the two are so obviously married and kinda snark at each other sometimes but they have each other’s backs through everything and know each other like the back of their hands and uggghhhh this is just such a healthy good ship and such a good book.  The Ahsoka novel is just fantastic all on its own because it shows Ahsoka as a young adult, kinda floundering and lost in this new world, full of guilt over what happened with Anakin and the Order, trying to do what she can to help people and just enduring because she’s a survivor, she was raised (by two argumentative, adoptive parents who love her very much SO SAYETH THE BOOK) to be a survivor and handle herself, but that doesn’t mean she’s not lonely as all hell.  And oof I just fucking adore Kaeden Larte and her relationship with Ahsoka (who absolutely comes back and marries her once the war is over oh yes) and her relationship with Miara and ugh just all of it is A+++++.  E.K. Johnston is just an amazing author in general and her other book, Queen’s Shadow is one of my two canon runner ups because I am in love with her Sabé and her Padmé.  Other canon runner up is A Certain Point Of View, if only for the “Time of Death” chapter.  Don’t get me wrong, the rest of it is also fantastic, but oh god it kills me DEAD OBI WAN DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER AND I CRY I REALLY CRY
EU-wise (oh god, I haven’t even gotten to least-faves yet), it has to be the Revenge of the Sith novelization.  Without a question.  Y’all it’s SO FUCKIN’ good, and in my personal opinion should be considerrred canonnnnnn (look I think the reason they gave for excluding it is that there’s no mention of Ahsoka or Rex or Mandalore or any of the stuff that happened literally the day before which is valid, but I counterpoint that Anakin is a mess with A Lot Going On At The Moment, he could have just forgot?  He forgets most of his morals, all of his common sense, and three of his limbs by the end of the story, Snips could have just slipped his mind! xD).  Anyway, besides the fact that it’s like 99% written in Obikin-colored glasses which really just makes me happy as a person because I love it being acknowledged just how important they are to each other, it really offers a deeper insight INSIDE the chaos going on in Anakin’s head, the mess, just why he falls so quickly and so awfully.  I love it gives the Padmé plot that got cut on screen some validity.  The beautiful beginning and the goddam introductions to Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi are just A++++++++++++++ and oof other people can more accurately describe just how good this book is, but I love it a Big Lot ok?
LEAST FAVE:  Okey doke, here we go....  So firstly for canon, I’m not the biggest fan of how Claudia Grey writes Leia’s character.  She’s a wonderful storyteller and I love her worldbuilding, but just the way she characterizes Leia herself never felt... right, ya know?  Idk, I can’t really explain it, but it makes it difficult for me to enjoy her Leia novelsWarning right now that this is a VERY unpopular opinion and my opinion alone, please do not yell at me!  So as skilled and admired an author Timothy Zahn is, I don’t like the Thrawn books.  I’m sorry, I don’t.  To me, Thrawn is just.... ok so he’s like BBC!Sherlock but in space.  The plot makes a big deal about how “oooh cool and intelligent and Literally Better Than Everyone Else” Thrawn is, but the only way they really show his “cleverness” is by either him solving problems by pulling together information that literally no one but the writer knows and then acting like it was oh so obvious and in front of everyone OR, the story dumbs down other characters to make him look smart.  And maybe it was because the one Thrawn book goes after Anakin/Vader in particular to do the latter is what kinda ticked me off on Thrawn books in general, but y’all, it really ticked me off, because Anakin is like the lowest hanging fruit for an author to pick to make their character look good in comparison, and therefore it is done All The Time (LOOKING AT YOU, CLONE WARS), which I think is lazy and an insult to Anakin’s character.  Look, I am fully aware Anakin Skywalker is a dolt to the highest degree sometimes, but he is ALSO A GENIUS.  He is SMART.  IT IS CANON THAT HE IS SMART.  So when the Thrawn book has Thrawn constantly one-upping Anakin The Useless Doofus (and Padmé a bit!!!) and then doing it again once he meets him as Vader, that just makes me hmmmm.
The canon comics are actually gonna be featured on the list here a bit because if y’all don’t already know my hatred for That One Particular Vader Comic (not the rest of the series run as I have not read it and from what I hear, it’s excellent and I’d probs like it a lot) doing the implication in a dream sequence where it says that Palpatine used the Dark Side to impregnate Shmi and create Anakin, well I HATE IT.  Look, I know the plot was literally about Sidious trying to mess with Vader’s head and that dream shouldn’t be trusted, but it fooled all the fans too and now like 60% of Star Wars fans actually believe Sidious fathered Anakin and I am so damn tired of hearing about that.  Yeah, now that Reylo is canon, that comic’s authors are trying to do damage control by saying that no, Sidious isn’t Anakin’s father and Rey and Ben are not second cousins, but they’re still being mysterious about it and “oh well it COULD be this--” so now there’s just more fans who are digging into that theory just because they don’t like Reylo and I don’t really care for the ship either but I really HATE the entire “Born of the Dark” concept for reasons I can explain more separately, so I’m pissy at that particular comic for spawning it.  I know it’s petty but I do.
EU-wise, well, this is gonna be unpopular too, cuz I haven’t read most of the EU stuff, and from what I’ve heard of it, there doesn’t seem to be much that I WOULD like.  The movie novelizations all seem good, but everything else???  “Obi Wan prequels but guess what, he had a shitty childhood too!” uh, no thanks, the rest of his life sucks enough, I want to see him happy.  “Mandalorian worldbuilding, but they’re all a bunch of stoic, overpowered badasses who are Good At Everything And Better Than Literally Everyone and the plot bashes the Jedi left right and center!” ehhhhhhhh pass.  “What happened after Return of the Jedi, except the Skywalkers still don’t get a happy ending because the galaxy goes to war again, Han and Leia’s son turns evil, Luke Suffers, and Palpatine comes back again!” nah, that sounds too depressing-- oh wAIT :) :) :)(at least the EU actually lets Han and Leia grow old and happy together okay okay that’s enough sequel salt for one day)
19. Outfit
FAVE:  Everything Padmé Amidala wears in the movies.  No I will not narrow it down.  I am in love with her whole wardrobe and I want it.
I also love the standard Jedi tunics and tabards and cloak (c’mon, the cloak completes the picture!)  It’s just such a signature and unique look that’s supposed to combine medieval European knight tunics and samurai warrior clothing and just the #aesthetic is oof, just wonderful.
Also Sabine Wren’s armor and its various paint jobs.  It’s just so uniquely her and bright and beautiful and badass in all its stages and yes good I like it.
Also Lando Calrissian’s cloaks!  Swooshy and colorful and good!  I love cloaks!
LEAST FAVE:  Gonna go with my petty, silly ones first, and those are all of Padmé Amidala’s outfits that are only seen in the The Clone Wars TV show (so not the ones that were based off of movie costumes).  Eh, actually three of them were nice, her orange outfit she visits Mina in, her white casual housedress, and her black slinky Clovis dress.  All of her other series-only outfits made me highkey pissy because they were either A.) Wrong for the situation she was in, B.) Defied the laws of physics and should not have held the shape they did/stayed on her body, or C.) just plain UGLY (the highest crime of all), and for the animators to have the audACITY to put any of those things in the mere vicinity of the most stylish woman in the galaxy is an insult to Padmé, an insult to ME, and an insult to Star Wars as a whole (yes, I am mostly joking, but come on!).  No, I will not give the designers the excuse of clothing being difficult and expensive and time consuming to animate because I have SEEN the fancy, PRETTY outfits of the other ladies of Padmé’s status on the show.  Everything Satine Kryze wore was intricately beautiful as all hell and I loved it.  Riyo Chuchi’s two outfits were lovely and fashionable.  Heck, I’m pretty sure I liked Mina Bonteri’s outfit too.  There were tons of people on that show with stylish clothing!  How hard would it have been for the animators to remember Padmé doesn’t wear exposed midriffs on official government business?  That dresses with no sides or back cannot be sleeveless or they will not stay up?  Not give her hairstyles that looked like either a goddam tuning fork or like Jimmy Neutron’s mother?  That beige jumpsuits are BORING and adding a mauve vest is NOT enough to make it exciting!!!! xD xD xD
Aight, now in more seriousness, I also hated both of Ahsoka’s outfits in the original TCW show.  Enough people have spoken on why sending a fourteen year old into an active warzone in a tube top and miniskirt is a BAD IDEA, but like it just makes me extra mad when you remember her older and more experienced at Not Getting Pulverized Masters were both in full concealing robes and chest and shoulder and shin armor, so you can’t even pass it off as Jedi not getting hurt as easily.  Her updated outfit was only slightly an improvement because her Masters STILL got at least fully covering robes and arm bracers, while Ahsoka still had her entire back exposed, leg holes exposing valuable arteries and stuff, and a goddam boob window that basically signals “shoot me here”.  Look, I know the animators goofed, and I know how they have learned from it because from Rebels on, they never show her as improperly covered for battle, in the new TCW season both outfits are cute and practical too, but seeing her running around in her red outfits actively impeded and took me out of my watching experience because I was cringing over her having a lack of protection, that it made her that much more vulnerable to injury.
Finally just gotta give a standard raised finger to the Slave Leia Bikini.  Carrie Fisher hated it so I do too.

The vampires and preferences. Taken from @arcxnumvitae and @thewolfisawake. I’ve also written out who is taken relationship-wise just to make sure it’s not confusing as well as having added the new muses to the list.
Liam: Sexual wise, Liam is far from picky.
Emi: Even though she’s listed as demi, she’s very much heterosexual though it takes a lot of bonding to ever get her to see someone in such a light. She can very easily see when someone is good looking but it’s very impersonal until she reaches a certain point with them. She likes someone who enjoys reading and stargazing, someone who can both carry a good conversation as well as still remaining good company even in the silence. She’s a big fan of nature too
Kyoko: Not a clue! She’s yet to really show any preference for any particular gender and she doesn’t seem to have a type in any way especially for physical appearances. It could take a really long time before she could see anyone in this light, if she ever even does.
Sumiye: Prefers men but likes women too. Whoever they are she likes them tall with a good head on their shoulders. She likes being able to have good engaging conversation with someone who asks questions, gives their opinion and such. Speaking multiple languages is a bonus as well as enjoying reading, stargazing and going to plays.
Azuma: Another one that I just don’t know for sure other than that he’s only interested in women. But at the same time, he’s not even interested in them. He’s just... not looking for any sort of relationship, especially not a romantic one. But any lady that does would have to be able to handle his cold and blunt personality and his inability to properly show his emotions. Strength too, he does not like anyone he deems as weak.
Seiji: Prefers women but also likes men. He is another that needs time to develop any type of attraction towards someone but he seems to prefer someone strong, collected that has a certain grace to them as well as someone who is intelligent.

Thank You Teen Wolf
I want to be optimistic and caring like Scott. I want to be witty and love like Stiles I want to be smart and stylish like Lydia. I want to be brave like Allison. I want to be as selfless as Kira. I want to be as wild as Malia. I want to be as helpful as Melissa McCall. I want to be as patient as Sheriff Stilinski. I want to be as knowledgeable as Derek, and as badass as Chris Argent. I want to take the lessons I've learned in "just another teen wolf" show and apply them to everyday life.
No, we don't have supernatural creatures like werewolves, and oni but we have other dangers we must face every day. If we can use their abilities to fight off this type of evil the world will start to change for the better. I want to thank the writers and creators for giving us as a Teen Wolf community the chance to experience such a life-changing show. We grew with the characters. We loved and lost. We fought right alongside the pack emotionally and never gave up on this wonderful group of misfits who showed us what being a pack is really about. What being a family is all about.
To Scott, thank you for showing us that no matter what that killing isn't the answer. No matter what the problem is there is always another way. There is always a better way. We do not have to turn to violence and our friends can be our strongest allies. They make us strong and keep us fighting. Our family is number one and we should never take them for granted because they do their best for us even if it's to sacrifice their own happiness.
To Stiles, thank you for teaching us that love is the greatest emotion to feel for someone. Even when it's not returned or even when it hurts too much. You also taught us that just because you don't have supernatural abilities you are not powerless. You are your own hero, and you were able to save so many people around you with your brains and wits. You made the pack complete with your big heart. Being a brother to Scott and such a wise leader in your own way. You deserve the world.
To Lydia, thank you for giving us a growing character. Someone who realizes that she isn't who society wants her to be. She is better being herself and people love her even more. A beautiful girl who has the brains to do whatever she puts her mind to. A girl who is brave enough to know that she'd do anything for these friends she's had for her whole life. A woman who knows her values and uses her assets wisely.
To Allison, thank you for showing us just because we're pretty, doesn't mean we are defenseless. We can fight just as tough as an Alpha, Kanima, or even the Oni. We are not afraid enough to back down when the people we love the most are in grave danger and need our help. Thank you for being brave and strong for those of us who need to know it's okay to cry but we can change for the better.
To Kira, thank you for letting us see that being new isn't as bad when you have a group of welcoming new friends. That even if you're different you can be loved. You can learn new things that you didn't know was an important part of your life. You weren't afraid to be yourself or ask questions when you wanted answers. You loved each of them as if you had known them your entire life. Your selflessness was undermined and we appreciate you.
To Malia, thank you for being you. Thank you for being so open to learning how to be human even though you didn't want to in the first place. We saw a girl who blamed herself for killing her family and gain a whole new one. She never forgot but she forgave herself and was able to bring a whole new sense of awareness to the pack. Things can go wrong in life but you must remember to forgive yourself. It's the only way to stay positive.
To Sheriff Stilinski, thank you for being the guiding parent. The kind of parent that doesn't belittle their children, but gives them the strong guidance they need. Not only do you do this for your own child, but you do it with the other teenagers that need helping hand that understands. Thank you for being a loving father and showing how a single parent who has lost something so important can still make the most of life.
To Melissa McCall thank you for always being the tough parent. You were never afraid to be stern for the good of your child. Not only were you a grade A parent but you saved so many lives. You’re the kind of nurse that took charge and that made such a difference. Thank you for being strong and willing to take on new challenges when they present themselves.
To Chris Argent thank you be showing that you don’t have to be who your family wants you to be. You also taught us that just because someone is different doesn’t mean you have to hate them. As a father, you taught your daughter that it is important to be strong but also to love. Thank you for loving and changing for the better.
To Deaton, thank you for taking our young alpha under your wing. Thank you for being such a wise oak to the pack. You taught them so much and were willing to help in so many ways. Thank you for being that guiding hand to these young kids.
Thank you, Derek, for leading. Thank you for showing what an alpha does and how he leads. Thank you for being the big brother that even though they were a handful you never gave up on any of them. You saved them. You were by their sides when they needed you the most. Even when you were broken. You were the example and they took the lead.
To Liam, Mason, Theo, and Cory. Thank you for adding such amazing friends to the pack. Thank you for bringing back some old memories.  Thank you, Liam, for being the perfect first beta for Scott to instruct protect. Thank you, Mason, for being such a wonderful and protective friend. Thank you, Theo, for your character development and for saving Liam’s ass. Thank you, Cory, for being there for Mason and adding such an important skill to the pack.
There are so many characters I am forgetting and I apologize. Everyone played such an important role and I have never enjoyed a show more. Thank you, Jeff Davis, for giving us hope and love. Thank you for saving my life and giving me something so strong to hold as an anchor. Till the next full moon.

Thank You Sourcefed
The first Sourcefed video I ever watched was with Lee and Joe. I remember being entertained but not subscribing because it was a lot of humor very different from my own in a very short period of time. But like with everything I end up loving, I came back to the channel and thoroughly enjoyed every video. I subscribed just before NERD started. I came to appreciate the different personalities and voices of all the hosts.
Lee was a ball of comedic anger and silly voices inside a tiny pretty lady, and I adored her.
Joe was this fucking bad ass, clever guy that is impossible not to like.
Meg was this hot lady that dressed in simple tshirts and jeans, which is how I dress. It was something I had never really seen before, and she proved to me that I could dress casually and still be sexy.
It took me a while to get used to Shisha. Her constant perkiness was annoying to me, but over the years I learned to appreciate how sweet the woman is. Optimism shouldn't be annoying.
Ross, although a late comer, was a great addition to the team.
Elliott was the one I found I related to the most. His subtle, witty, pessimistic, goofy humor was very similar to my own.  When I was going through a dark time and essentially having an existential crisis, Elliott helped me find the balance between my difficult thoughts and humor, and I’m eternally thankful for that.
I got scared when new hosts started to show up. It took me some time to get used to them, as it did with most of the audience, but I am so glad that I did.
I didn’t think much of Matt at first, to be honest. He seemed too serious and reserved. Now I know him to be this joyful, clever, talented actor and chef that I’m always happy to see in a video.
Bree was a new flavor that also took some time to get used to but, listen, the girl is badass. She is honest and funny. And it honestly was such a beautiful thing to watch her live out her passion for acting on Nuclear Family.
Will came out of fuckin no where. Like, who was this kid that seemed to have a new idea every week and was completely unpredictable in video? It was amazing to watch him grow and change over the year.
Sometimes you zone out when watching videos y’know? Not when Maude Garrett is in it. You can’t help but listen to that tall funny Australian woman and think she for sure knows what she’s talking about.
I was a late comer to Super Panic Frenzy, and admittedly was only watching for Suptic at the beginning. But Reina grew on me real quick. She’s funny as fuck and you could just tell that everything that came out of her mouth was genuine.
Not gonna lie, I had a crush on Sam for a while there. How could you not love that sweet nerd boy??? He’s one of the sweetest people on the planet and he’s funny and awkward and he’s great ok?
I had never thought much of Whitney when she had appeared in Sourcefed videos before being hired tbh. But over the past few months I have enjoyed watching this stylish woman just be herself and talk about nerdy shit, and now I adore her.
Filup grew on me real quick. He won me over when he sang Seasons Of Love in sign language. He’s clever and super smart and he really surprised me.
I knew Yessica from Buzzfeed’s videos, and was so happy to see a familiar face on PBL. She’s a strong woman who I enjoyed watching kick Will’s ass. A funny sweet person. I just wanna be her friend.
John was this calm, sane, funny presence on PBL. He always gave me a comforting feeling because he seemed to have his shit together.
I, like most people, thought Candace was high and boring. I was wrong. The girl is too fucking funny. She was this new kind of bizarre on the channel that made it feel like a fresh start.
Speaking of bizarre, how about that Suptic guy huh? I subscribed to his personal channel real quick after I started watching SPF. You never knew what was gonna come out of his mouth. It literally could of been anything, but it was guaranteed to make me laugh. I love that wacky tall chicken boy.
I knew Ava as DVG’s girlfriend and that was it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was very funny and witty. She’s always seemed like a kind wonderful person to be around.
I was subscribed to Mike Falzone’s personal channel for a couple years. I’m pretty sure he started at Sourcefed as soon as I unsubscribed from his channel. I adore Mike Falzone. When you hear the other hosts say he’s a good guy, you know it’s true. You can tell he cares. Also he’s fucking hysterical. Everything he said was either smart or funny.
Where do I even begin when it comes to Steve Zaragoza??? He is the embodiment of joy. He was always willing to do anything to make someone laugh and that's beautiful damn it.
And last, but CERTAINLY not least, all the people behind the camera. I am so fucking glad the Vloggity started up again because it has a pleasure being introduced to all those beautiful people in that office, that are phenomenal at their jobs. They played just as big of a role in making those channels what they were as the hosts did.
Everyone in that office made me smile. Everyone one of the hosts have impacted me in a positive way. The Sourcefed channels will forever be my favorite channels on YouTube. While the channels were alive and well, if my subscription box was full I would pick an old SF video over any new ones. That’s not going to change. Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for making me happy every day. Thank you for making me a better person with your wonderful and hilarious content. I cannot wait to see what you all do in the future. Thank you Sourcefed.

The ‘Carmen Effect’: How One Character Helped Shape a Generation
Carmen is a modern day Robin Hood traveling the globe and stealing from V.I.L.E. and giving back to its victims. Carmen is publicly perceived as a criminal by most law enforcement agencies – correction, make that a master criminal due to the sheer scale and theatricality of her heists. We will follow her escapades and get to determine not only where but WHO in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Carmen Sandiego is back on Netflix January 18th, but for Millennials, she never really left
youtube
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 17, 2019) — For kids who grew up chasing the elusive thief, Carmen Sandiego was an icon in every sense of the word—she was an impeccably dressed, fearless world traveler, who even taught them a few things along the way. But in the midst of testing kids’ geography knowledge, Carmen did more than simply bestow Millennials the rank of “Investigator” or “Ace Detective.” An analysis of Carmen-related social conversation over the past five years* reveals those clues on a computer screen gave the generation a sense of independence that has outlived those old floppy disks and CD-ROMs.
Of the 350K+ tweets analyzed, nearly all speak to The Carmen Effect – the deeply personal, long-lasting impact the franchise, and the woman behind it, had on its original generation of fans. A visualization of the conversation, available at thecarmeneffect.com, shows how for some, it’s manifested as a love of travel, passion for geography, or the occasional urge to buy a red coat. For others, Carmen was a first-of-her-kind superhero, showing both girls and boys how to be “sly, funny and brilliant” as a badass Latina role model. And now, almost 20 years later, her legacy lives on as a brand new series debuts on Netflix January 18th, with Gina Rodriguez voicing the lead role.
“Playing the role of Carmen Sandiego is a dream come true,” said Rodriguez. “My sisters and I grew up playing Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? We didn’t know who she was or why she was doing the things she did, but she was this smart, savvy Latina woman who was getting out in the world, seeing all kinds of places and exploring different cultures. I idolized those things about her. And now I’m lucky enough to extend the story of a character who still inspires me everyday, introducing kids not just to her adventures, but also revealing new details about her past.”
If history’s any indication, the next generation of gumshoes are in for more than a globe-trotting expedition as they follow Carmen and sidekick Player (Finn Wolfhard) around the world. Categorizing a selection of Carmen-related tweets uncovered some pretty specific impacts of The Carmen Effect:
Signature Style (60%): Fans can’t get enough of Carmen’s iconic look – her red hat and matching trench have showed up everywhere from high-fashion runways to Halloween parties.
Passport Goals (20%): “Carmen Sandiego” is synonymous with “travel” – many frequent fliers fancy themselves a modern day Carmen, and some even attribute all that virtual jet-setting to an increased sense of wanderlust in adulthood.
Sandiego Smarts (16%): To this day, people admit learning a thing or two from Carmen – many of which they still remember (read: currency of Thailand or the definition of ‘spelunking’).
Trailblazer (7%): For others, the impact of Carmen went a level deeper – she was considered one of the first great role models, admired for her ambition, independence and intellect.
Beyond these categories, there are countless mentions and references of Carmen in pop culture that elevate her to icon status. From the unforgettable theme song to memories of hours spent playing the computer game in elementary school, it’s clear Carmen never really left.
The upcoming Carmen Sandiego series pays tribute to everything fans loved about the original – each episode is filled with fast facts that’ll turn any kid into a Jeopardy pro, following a heroic (and stylish) Carmen from Indonesia to Ecuador in the fight against V.I.L.E. But unlike past iterations of the franchise, the animated series will reveal one of the biggest mysteries of them all: Who is Carmen Sandiego? The first two episodes of the series detail the origin story that led to Carmen becoming the super thief she is today.
ABOUT THE RESEARCH
In partnership with the team behind The Pudding, Netflix used a dataset of 356,798 public tweets dated between 12/14/13-12/14/18 that mentioned “Carmen Sandiego” or variations of the name. Retweets were excluded from the analysis, and tweets that could be deemed offensive were excluded from TheCarmenEffect.com.

Ant-Man and The Wasp Review
Tumblr media
Over the last 10 years, the Marvel cinematic universe has done a great job on introducing and/or building on their many characters like Iron Man, Captain America and The Guardians of the Galaxy. But they've also brought in many unknown or forgotten characters from the comics, and have had forgotten or under appreciated actors portray them to make awesome movies. Recently the MCU has introduced Ant-Man, a super with the power to shrink and grow in size as well as communicating and controlling ants telepathically. While some found this character silly at first, many now see him as a interesting and badass character. Now lets talk about ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, a film that many of us were really excited about, and in many ways it has lived up to or even exceeded expectations. ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ does exactly what a sequel should do: took everything from the original and make it bigger and better!
Now, first things first, many people were wondering where this movie would fit in the timeline, and if this movie would tie-in heavily with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. The film takes place immediately after ‘Captain America: Civil War’, where Scott Lang (AKA Ant-Man) is under house arrest after the fallout between Iron Man and Captain America, while at the same time, tries to become the father his daughter Cassie deserves. We've also learned that Doctor Hank Pym and his daughter Hope Van Dyne are also trying to find the truth about what happened to Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp. While the film did have areas that need improvement, it soon evolved from a typical comic book movie to a warm and playful story about family which I thought was smart move since it actually had meaning rather than focus heavily on action. Another thing I noticed is that the movie felt and acted more confident in it's execution than the original. But most importantly it truly delivers on fun, acting, action, humour and Marvel comic references and Easter eggs.
Paul Rudd reprises his role as Ant-Man and does exactly what you'd expect from this character: act like a total badass superhero in half the scenes, and do Paul Rudd things in the other half. By which I mean provide great humour and comedy to the character with his silly and quirky personality. While many were sceptical about this casting decision at first, Paul Rudd does a awesome job at bringing this cool, interesting and silly character to life. One thing I loved about this character was the awesome looking costume, while I didn't quite like it at first, I've come around to it and actually looks like something I'd love to cosplay at comic-con, but to be honest the Civil War suit was the best one. A truly great casting choice.
Evangeline Lilly returns as Hope Van Dyne, the new Wasp and love interest of Scott Lang. This time however she has really improved from the original Ant-Man. Back in the last film, she was a pretty boring and wooden character with a rocky relationship with her father due to the supposedly death of her mother Janet who was also the original Wasp when Hank was Ant-Man. In this movie she becomes a full on badass as the Wasp with her awesome looking suit, her ability to shrink and fly as well as her tough, no nonsense attitude toward Scott, but still showing a soft side in certain moments. I think Marvel have done a great job on evolving this character from a boring stiff woman to a strong female character who's now a total badass!
Michael Penya returns from the original as the hilarious and lovable Luis, the mastermind criminal and best friend of Scott Lang. He plays the comic relief and steals every scene he's in, mainly due the one thing people know this character for “telling stories in a hilarious way”. While it does seem silly and random at first it is a complete stroke of genius for Marvel to do this, which left many fans wanting him to tell the events of “Ant-Man” and “Captain America: Civil War” in this film and... he did! So while he may be a side character we love this guy and we hope to see more of him.
While this film had a lot of scene stealers, they didn't have quite as much impact on the film or the plot as characters Hank Pym and Bill Foster. Michael Douglas returns as Dr Hank Pym, creator of the Pym Particle and the original Ant-Man. While he makes major impacts in the Marvel comics he doesn't exactly have that exact effect in these movies. This is mainly because Marvel are using a point in the comics where Scott Lang is Ant-Man and Hank has retired and also doesn't do any of the crazy things he does in the comics or create the many other alter egos he's had like: Giant-Man, Goliath or Yellow Jacket. But to be honest I prefer this version of Hank Pym since in the comics he's not as chipper as he is in the movies. Lawrence Fishburne (and his iconic tooth-gap) enter the MCU as Bill Foster, known by many comic book fans as Black Goliath. While it is interesting they've brought in this character from the comics he doesn't really contribute much to the plot and spends most of his time just being “there”. So It's a shame they didn't do much with this character, but I hope they do use him more in later movies.
As we all know the MCU has had a lot of generic, disposable and forgettable villains over the years who most only last one movie which many of us find disappointing. The villain of this movie was Ghost, a girl with the ability to turn invisible and walk through walls. While this character did seem cool in the trailers and has had a interesting history in the comics, in this movie the villain ends up being a one dimensional character who doesn't quite reach the greatness of Loki, Ultron and Killmonger. The character wasn't completely true to the comics since The Ghost has been one of those character's whose Identity and Backstory have been shrouded in mystery for decades and when they were finally revealed we still have trouble understanding them. I can see why they did major tweaks to this character, because I'm sure they did the best they could to make this character easy to understand for those who don't read the comics and they've did a pretty decent job. So while Ghost isn't the best MCU villain of the year, they still have a lot more potential to improve in later films.
The films tone, while not as stylish as ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ or ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, it took a different turn and ending up having a more lighter and fun tone along with a very colourful style.
Now the one thing that really impressed me was the action. Because it isn't a Marvel movie without great action scenes. This time these moments were clever and inventive and really used the whole shrinking and growing technology the heroes had to good use making them both exciting and funny to watch. The use of CGI and slow motion was excellent, it made me feel like I was actually there with Ant-Man when he shrunk down and made the normal areas he was in appear more dangerous and real. This movie's animation and CGI was really well crafted, and also had so pretty good practical effects, such as the awesome costumes!
Final Verdict 9/10 : ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ did an awesome job, both improving and building on the original and has become one of Marvel's best sequels in years. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and all the other actors do their character's justice I couldn't ask for better casting decisions. It also gave us more action, humour and love that they really knocked out of the park proving once and for all that Marvel can build a franchise around just about anybody.
P.S: Very important! There's two post credit scenes and they both tie into ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ so be sure to stay seated until the credits are completely over!

People are complaining about Serena Williams's new fashion line not being size inclusive
Tumblr media

Serena Williams’s stylish new fashion line has fizzled among her fans who are disappointed in the size selection.
On Wednesday, the Olympian tennis pro released Serena, a 13-piece collection sold exclusively on her website, ranging from $15 to $215, including slip dresses, joggers, crop tops, and bralettes.
The clothes are stylish and the price point is reasonable — as Williams told Glamour, “There are so few people who have access to buy whatever they want, however they want. I want them to be able to buy these clothes.” However, some fans frowned at the sizes, which run from XS to XL, the latter of which is a size 14 and smaller than the average woman, who wears a size 16.
Introducing Serena. A collection for women who slay all day. Hit the link in the bio! #BeSeenBeHeard

Alongside a video featuring models that was posted on the brand’s Instagram page, many people complained.
“All of the models are THIN,” wrote @ste7301. “I hope this is NOT the only size you are catering to.” @Lucygoosey888 asked, “Why are the models skinny [and] not inclusive of every body shape?” @Allasunder wrote: “I’m with most people here…where are the plus size persons? I love the styles, but I guess I’ll just be window shopping this line only.” And @Kanawhachick wrote, “Would love to see women that look like you. Or at least a little thicker than the models here. A variety of women in ur clothing line would be awesome to see. But gorgeous line so far.”
Yahoo Lifestyle could not reach a Serena spokesperson for comment. However, on the brand’s website, the athlete says, “Introducing Serena, my first independent clothing line for all the ladies out there being awesome. My designs are inspired by strong, sexy, sophisticated, sassy, sure, smart, stylish, silly, and spontaneous women who are living their best lives, or making it up as they go — kinda like me.”

Aside from her professional achievements and role as mother to an 8-month-old baby girl, Alexis Olympia, whom she shares with husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Williams often encourages body acceptance.
Last fall, Williams scribed an open letter to her mother, Oracene Price, sharing her experience with a so-called unconventional female form. “I’ve been called man because I appeared outwardly strong,” Williams wrote in the letter, published on Reddit. “It has been said that I use drugs (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage). It has been said I don’t belong in Women’s sports — that I belong in Men’s — because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it).”
She wrote, “I am proud we were able to show them what some women look like. We don’t all look the same. We are curvy, strong, muscular, tall, small, just to name a few, and all the same: we are women and proud!”
Excited to be on the cover of the July Issue of @bazaaruk which celebrates the power of women! Out tomm! #BeingSerena hair @angelameadowssalon makeup @natashagrossmakeupartist

And in 2016, Williams opened up to her ex-boyfriend, rapper Common, on ESPN’s The Undefeated In-Depth, explaining, “There was a time where I didn’t feel incredibly comfortable about my body, because I felt like I was too strong. And then I had to take a second and think, who says I’m too strong? This body has enabled me to be the greatest player I can be, and I’m not going to scrutinize that. This is great. I mean, this is amazing.”
Still, Williams has always been interested in stylish self-expression. On Wednesday, the former fashion design student graced the July cover of Harper’s Bazaar U.K. wearing a black one-piece by Norma Kamali, and earlier this month she attended the royal wedding reception of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wearing sneakers under her Valentino dress.
Little known fact: I often wear sneakers under my evening gown. These @maisonvalentino @pppiccioli gave to me last min. I told him be careful I tend to be comfy for long nights #beingserena

It’s even tougher now that she’s not only the face of her personal brand but also the CEO of a burgeoning global beauty-and-fashion empire. Pulling double duty as both badass rock star and savvy businesswoman across a working orbit that spans California (home base for her new lingerie collaborators) and Europe can take a physical toll on even the most intergalactic of superstars.

Fenty Corp. finds itself among AdWeek’s “Challenger Brands.” Launched by multi-hyphenate business woman and Grammy winner Rihanna, Fenty Corp – which consists of the Savage x Fenty lingerie collection with its bras in sizes 32A to 38DD, underwear up to a size 3X, and other lingerie from extra small to extra-large, and has “plans to increase their size range very soon,” and the Fenty Beauty brand and its industry-rattling 40 shades of foundation – have found success by catering to “women of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities” in a move to “democratize fashion and beauty.”

But deeper, more integrated deals like the ones Rihanna and Roc Nation are brokering also involve equity and royalties on unit sales, in addition to steep upfront fees. Sources tell Billboard that A-level artists can command advances as high as $2 million for each branded clothing and footwear line, plus anywhere from a 7- to 15-percent cut of gross sales.
According to Nielsen Music’s N-score talent tracker -- which assesses endorsement potential for U.S. celebrities across 10 attributes, and which brands rely on to maximize ROI on their campaigns -- Rihanna outranks the average music celebrity on marketability with an overall N-Score of 78, compared to the music average of 65. On the “Stylish” and “Trendsetter” attributes in particular, Rihanna outranks much of her competition at 48 and 35 respectively, compared to the music norms of 26 and 19.
What Rihanna’s doing right now is creating a dominating mix of products that she knows she has the right to be a resource and creative authority for,” says Smalls-Worthington. “You have a lot of celebrities trying to put a square peg in a round hole, but Rihanna's going wide and deep in a smart way: carefully studying her consumers and how they express themselves across multiple touch points, and delivering on that expression in an inclusive way, without forcing anything. Her products are empowering people to express their best versions of their best selves -- to get a piece of Rihanna without sacrificing who they are as individuals. She’s set herself up in a way such that she is it, and her consumers also want to be it. And I don’t think she’s done yet.”

Clothing says nothing about you. Do you believe that? Some do. They mention Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs… …how they’d always dress casually & never be judged for it. But they fail to realize that their clothing still says everything about them. It says: I’m an everyday guy I have so many decisions to make and clothing isn’t one of them I’m relatable Their choice to wear a nontraditional uniform still sends a message, whether they want it to or not. But they can also afford to make those choices because they’ve already made a name for themselves. This article is going to cover 10 BAD style tips to always ignore. BAD Style Tip #1 – Image Isn’t As Important As Substance
People say it’s good to dress up nicely, but don’t think it carries as much weight as your substance (or your character). We’ve heard it many times: don’t judge a book by its cover. But most of us do spend our lives in some sort of competition (with colleagues, fellow job applicants, or other single men at the party). So your “cover” is a crucial thing. It can end up being the reason slightly like you more than your rivals. Your presentation can win them over even before you speak. Zero-Sum Game Mentality The best way to look at men’s style is from a winner-take-all point of view. That’s the core of the zero-sum game mentality – where it’s either you win or you lose. Your competitor wins or loses because of you. Either you amp up your style and reap the rewards, or someone else does it. It was a case of image-over-substance during the very first televised US presidential debate in 1960 – between candidates Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy. The word ‘televised’ is key here. It’s widely believed that JFK won the election by outdoing Nixon in the debate. Did JFK give better answers? No – but he was better in every other way. He spoke to the public by directly looking at the camera. Nixon focused on answering reporters’ questions. JFK had his charm and movie-star looks which made him fit for TV. Nixon had a five o’clock shadow, a tendency to sweat and turn his head now and then. So although Nixon was the more experienced guy, JFK won by a narrow margin. He didn’t have to explain he could do this or that better. He simply caught ’s attention and moved them. And JFK must’ve known his image would resonate more than his substance. So he used it to win the whole thing.

BAD Style Tip #2 – Clothing Doesn’t Signal Status
Some believe that clothes aren’t indicators of where you stand in your society. They mention Mark Zuckerberg’s habit of wearing gray t-shirts and hoodies all the time. But here’s the thing – Zuckerberg isn’t among the 99% like we are. He’s worked his way to achieving an “outlier” status. He’s earned the right to wear what he wants and not be judged for it (and it certainly helps that he’s in the tech industry). He serves a community large enough to be the 3rd most populated country on Earth! It makes sense for him to focus on decisions for Facebook and block out smaller, everyday decisions like what to wear. Not everyone has that excuse. And Zuckerberg isn’t limited to one location. The rest of us have local environments – with their own guidelines for how to dress. That’s why teachers, news anchors, managers, and bankers all follow a specific dress code. Trust and credibility are on the line. And going back to the 1960 US presidential debate, we can agree that Kennedy had both great style and superb communication skills. He was very charismatic. If you strike a balance between looking sharp and communicating well – you’ll be able to convince others to hire you, promote you, work with you, buy your products, listen to your ideas or even treat you like a rockstar. It’s all about the status you’re perceived with. You’re only exempt from this by having the fame and respect of a guy like Zuckerberg. And if he wasn’t recognized and entered a room in his t-shirt and hoodie, everyone would treat him normally.
BAD Style Tip #3 – Solve Problems As They Come Along (Not Before)
I know – fashion isn’t a life-or-death kind of thing. Most style-related problems you’ll face don’t require a sense of urgency. But I can say it’s better not to experience those problems at all. Is a button loose on your dress shirt? Fix it now before it falls off. Are you starting a new job where it’s crucial to keep your shirt tucked in? Make shirttail garters part of your daily wardrobe. Many small style mistakes aren’t actually caused by what you do, but what you fail to do. The same goes for skin care. Should you have to wait for those first wrinkles or age spots before taking action? No. You can start treating your skin early on – to prevent stuff so there’s no need for any cure.

BAD Style Tip #4 – You Can Wear Anything And Look OK
Maybe you had this mindset sometime in those rebellious teenage years. But that shouldn’t be the case anymore. This is real life. Here’s an analogy. You know James Bond? He’s a handsome badass, right? Women have adored him in the past, and more of them will in future films. But can you imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger or Vin Diesel do the role of Bond in their normal voices? Don’t they star in action movies? Don’t they fit the mold looks-wise? Nope – because Bond is a British icon. A British accent is 100% a must. Those guys would have to pull that off before their acting can even be judged. Style is like that in a sense. Anyone can wear the same type of clothing just like anyone can pretend to be James Bond. But not everybody can succeed – and send the right message – with that item. A number of factors come into play when you go from “dressing up” to “being stylish.” You must understand your body type, and how your complexion contrasts with different colors.
BAD Style Tip #5 – Let Your Woman Dress You
Does your S.O. control what you watch on TV? Or what music you listen to? Definitely not. So why is it that some think your woman should dress you? Honestly, I’d say those men are (A) the lazy type or (B) in a relationship with somebody who’s OCD about their clothes. (Those in category B, sorry for that. Hope you’re handling that well.) But I’m a big fan of dressing yourself. What if she insists you wear a flashy red blazer to an event – even though you’re not exactly the life of the party? She’ll just do all the talking while you sit beside her, sipping cocktails and throwing in a few one-liners. It makes more sense that she wears red while you come in navy or charcoal gray. Let her be your consultant only. She can make suggestions – but find an endearing way to convey “thanks but no thanks” whenever you disagree. Who knows? You might surprise her with something she never thought you’d look perfect in!
BAD Style Tip #6 – Buy Everything At Once
Clothes may not have expiration dates like food does – but that’s no reason to buy yourself a full set at once. It doesn’t matter if you hate shopping. You’ll regret it. Remember that your body changes over time. You should never expect all your jeans, trousers, dress shirts and jackets to fit you perfectly for 5+ years. It can also be a bummer when you realize in a matter of months – you haven’t used certain items due to the color or fabric. Good money wasted. If you really want to shop smart and deal with less clothing, focus on having an interchangeable wardrobe. This will give you enough variety to adjust your outfits every now and then. It will help you stay stylish and avoid “risky” selections at the same time.

BAD Style Tip #7 – It’s On Sale, So Buy It Now
On paper, buying something on sale is supposed to save you money. But when you take into account the purpose of your purchase – that’s a trickier thing. Although you should care about style, that doesn’t mean your budget should go out the window. If you end up getting something you were never planning to buy – it’s pretty much impulse buying. What’s even worse? If it turns out that purchase only adds to a large group of similar items at home! Then you’ll start thinking about what you could’ve spent that money on instead – like another kind of clothing that’s more useful for you right now.
Tumblr media
BAD Style Tip #8 – Expensive = Better Quality
Some tend to think the price tag accurately reflects quality. But if you go with price alone when you buy any clothes – you’re not seeing the bigger picture. There are more important details to consider if you want to identify quality clothing. And “expensive” doesn’t automatically mean these details have been covered well. Suits/Shirts Type of stitching (# of stitches per inch) Weight of the fabric Collar construction Leather Shoes Production method (are they totally handmade?) Sturdy heel & sole (are they glued well?) Strength of the shoelaces If you want to master the art of inspecting clothes – you’ll have to be patient (as in look around in multiple stores) and willing to ask questions. It’s a shopping skill you can’t develop overnight.
BAD Style Tip #9 – Copy The Latest Trend / Celebrity Style
Take a look at Justin Bieber’s transformations over the years. He first entered the music scene as a wholesome teenybopper – with a purple hoodie and a bob cut. He’s now been sporting tank tops, plus an undercut with dangling long hair on one side. Younger guys have tried to copy his different looks. But those styles aren’t that classy or gentlemanly, are they? Celebrities may look like models – but they’re not necessarily role models. They compete for millions of fans with short attentions spans. It’s part of the job to reinvent themselves now and then by changing up their style. So clearly, not every “trend” will have the same effect on you as it has on them.
BAD Style Tip #10 – You Need More Stuff
Does buying more clothes make you more stylish? No – it can actually mean the opposite. A cluttered closet only bothers you with loads of options. It messes with your understanding of what’s you. So stop buying crap. Purchase only what you need to live the life you choose. The problem with owning “junk” items is they can cause you to underdress or overdress (and there’s a fine line between looking sharp for the occasion and being overdressed/awkwardly dressed). An impressive style isn’t showy or distracting – it draws a positive kind of attention. Your personality, profession, the environment you live in – all of it matters in being your stylish best.
