#man hara really is good with zakis
Text
yamazaki hiroshi + anger (+ hara)
zaki is scarred, literally.
man was a boisterous and reckless kid (to put it lightly), who was egged on by boisterous and reckless siblings, and boisterous and reckless hara. it’s therefore not surprising that he’s got scars littered across his body from various stupid scrapes
there’s a chunky one on his knee from when, after winning a ‘competition’ about who could purr most like a cat, he had to prove himself by jumping off a tree. if he landed on his feet, he was the Cat King. it goes without saying he did not land on his feet.
there’s one on the inside of his lip from when he was tripped up playing basketball, and his teeth cut right into his lip.
(zaki being zaki, of course, was oblivious as to why all the parents were staring at him with horror. he presumed that the feeling of liquid dripping down his chin came from sweat.)
and, it’s not noticeable unless you touch him, but if you trace your fingers along his knuckles, you can feel the roughness of where thin skin has had to heal and reheal itself from him punching brick walls as a coping mechanism for his preteen anger.
yeah, zaki was an angry kid.
he was one of those kids who thought their anger was unique, that no one else ever experienced as potent a rage as they did.
in reality, neither his siblings nor his parents took him seriously when he got mad, because they knew that zaki’s not someone that hurts people. he’s much more the ‘gets so angry he has to go to his room so he can burst into tears in private’.
it was hara’s influence that started to change that.
now, hara’s ability to piss people off is limited when it comes to zaki, as zaki’s known him so long, but he's good at getting zaki more irritated when something else has upset him first
and, ‘course, when you’re with a friend in a park, you can’t just excuse yourself to go sob - especially not with a friend like hara who will say, and has said before, “you gonna go cry now? baby zaki-chan need to go cry cause he’s so sad?”
(hara is notoriously difficult to really irritate - that’s why he finds it so amusing in others.)
anyway, so thanks to hara’s presence, zaki had to find a new method of coping with anger. and, thanks to hara’s goading, that method became violence.
not serious violence, nor sadistic violence, just punches and threats and lots more stuff zaki regrets in the aftermath.
that was middle school though, and now he’s a 2nd year in high school. so he should be more in control of his emotions, right?
not really, is the problem
because for every time furuhashi gives him a tip to help him not get so het up in matches, and for every time seto sends him a link to a new study on anger management, and for every time matsumoto says, “you good?” and rests a hand on his shoulder, consciously slowing his breathing to help zaki regulate his…
for every time they try help, there’s also a time when hanamiya winds him up on purpose - to get him to channel that violence so hanamiya can use it against the people he has his own problems with
and there are always, as there always have been and always will be, times where hara eggs on the side of him that zaki wants to leave behind
he’s tried explaining. he’s tried saying he wants to become a better him.
and, in the moment, hara will say “my bad” - just to follow it up with “you sissy”, as he grins
his best friend, and perhaps his worst enemy

My Harem is Entirely Bad Boy Types (Kirisaki Daiichi x Reader) Pt. 8
Chapter 8: I Never Imagined My First Love Confession Would Go Down This Way
(Y/N)’s eyes fluttered open and a blinding white light consumed her senses. The sterile smell of hospital was all around her and she knew exactly how she got there.
 As her eyes finally focused, she was very aware of the person seemingly sleeping at her side. Short black hair looked a mess and a pale hand was clutching her bed sheets desperately. Without thinking the girl put all her effort into lifting her arm to place it gently atop the tired person’s head.
Immediately the person shot up to reveal Ms. Hanamiya’s tired and now relieved face. The tears came to the older woman’s eyes and down her cheeks instantly. Within seconds her captain’s mom was running her fingers through the girl’s hair and fussing over her the way a mother would.
 “What’s hurting you dear? Do you need anything? Can I get you something?”
 “No…my head hurts but I’m fine.” (Y/N) said trying to sit up only to sway back down.
 “No no no, don’t do that. You’ve had a concussion; you shouldn’t be exerting any energy.”
 “A concussion? Did I hit myself on the steps that badly?” (Y/N) mused more to herself than to her. Finally adjusted, there really was pain all over her body and looking down she noticed a thin cast on her arm.
 Reaching up she could feel a small bald patch on the left side of her head along with a tender row of stitches. Touching around her face she thankfully didn’t feel any lacerations there, but the sore areas made her wonder if she was bruised.
 “It’s not true is it?”
 (Y/N) turned to the desperate woman’s voice and tried to make sense of her words.
 “Huh?”
 “I know it’s what everyone is saying and thinking. The police talked to the neighbors in our apartment complex and they said they heard him screaming at you and threatening you. I know he was mad but I didn’t think…I don’t think. Makoto didn’t push you down those stairs.”
 What had started as a question very clearly turned into a statement. Mrs. Hanamiya knew deep down what had happened. And with no hesitation (Y/N) shook her head, causing her mind to spin at the movement.
 “No, he didn’t. It was an accident…he wanted to go and get you, but I held onto him. I wouldn’t let go even though he was telling me over and over again. He never pushed me, in fact he was pulling away from me and then I lost my balance. He never put a hand on me.”
 “I knew it. I knew my baby wouldn’t do that to someone like you. Someone he actually gives a shit about. But I don’t understand why…”
 “Why what?”
 “Why he’s admitting to it.”
 “He’s what? Where is he?”
 “He’s in the room next door, he sprained his ankle running to get me so we could call the ambulance. The police are asking more questions, trying to figure if it was a domestic spat and if you want to press charges.”
 “Well I don’t! He didn’t do anything wrong, I don’t know why he’s saying he did! I need to talk with the police.”
 “No dear, please you can’t be out of bed right now. Let me tell them you’re awake and that you wish to speak with them. I’ll send the boys in to keep you company.”
 The short woman got up and opened the door revealing a row of worried KiriDai boys sitting out in the hall. They looked up instantly and their eyes went straight to their now upright manager. Without a word they rushed in and allowed the woman to close the door behind her.
 “What the hell happened?” Seto asked looking like he was trying to find someone to blame, either Hanamiya or even (Y/N) herself.
 “I told you we needed to go after her sooner! We waited too long and she wouldn’t have run off so recklessly, if Hara hadn’t been an insensitive prick.”
 “Don’t blame me for shit you stupid fu-”
 “Guys it was my fault. I was the one who pushed him away from me and I was the one who wouldn’t let go until he had to shake me off. But never once did he actually try to hurt me.”
 “Well that’s not what he’s saying in there.” Furuhashi stated, taking a cautious seat on the edge of her hospital bed.  “He’s saying you pissed him off so he pushed you down the stairs.”
 “He’s also saying he’s strangled, intimidated, and grabbed you out of anger.”
 “Which are all not completely untrue.” Seto added under his breath.
 “But you know it wasn’t like that! He has never purposely hurt me. I was the one that wouldn’t leave him alone!”
 “My my don’t we sound like the battered housewife.”
 The teens turned towards the sound of the smooth voice only to find a stern looking woman standing in the doorway. She appeared to eye (Y/N) up and down before letting out a sigh. The boys were not ignorant to the fact that their manager was now sitting more stiffly and trying hard to avert her eyes from the cold woman.
 “So whats the damage? Broken arm, bruised rib cage, a laceration to the head and a concussion to boot. Don’t tell me you’re even more stupid than anticipated and pregnant with an abusive man’s child as well?”
 The woman knew it was a low blow, considering everything. (Y/N) looked ready to cry and Seto took a step forward.
 “Who the hell are you? I think this is the last thing (Y/N) needs right now.”
 “Well the hospital called me so naturally I had to show up. I am (Y/N)’s guardian while she is living here in Japan. Now if you don’t mind, I need you to step out of the room while I speak with her.”
 “We aren’t going anywhere.” Furuhashi said firmly, unconsciously taking (Y/N) hand into his own.
 “Oh so is this the one? Ahh so not only are you playing the abused girlfriend but also the mistress. Furuhashi Kojiro, the tech heir, whose parents have been gushing about your recent engagement. To think you’d be so openly defiant.”
 “He’s not the one who did this to me, not my boyfriend and the man who did do it…it really was an accident. I’m perfectly okay, and nobody worth worrying about know so what more do you want? Whatever you want to talk to me about you can talk to me in front of my team.”
 “Very well. I figured I’d spare you but if you insist. I came to tell you to get it together. I thought you were tired of trying to get mommy and daddy’s attention. I came to ensure that you weren’t going to press any charges or make this into a big deal than it need be, regardless of whose attention you’re after.”
 “Listen I didn’t-”
 “You listen. I thought you grew out of this phase and were beginning to see the importance of presenting a good image. I thought you were understanding why you were brought to Japan in the first place. I know you think that dating the bad boy and surrounding yourself with those types is fun and thrilling. Maybe you even think you can change them. But a bad boy needs a good girl and you can’t give them that.”
 (Y/N)’s defiant face didn’t waver a bit, but a tear ran down her cheek.
 “Do any of them even know about you? About your little hobby? About your a-”
 “Did you call my father?” (Y/N) cut the woman off only for her to shake her head and check the time on her watch.
 “And what, pray tell, would that accomplish? You think he’s going to run down here at the drop of a hat just because you got banged up by the boy you’re banging? He’s a busy man after all.”
 “I want to see him. If you don’t call him I will.”
 “Go ahead. You really want to be a burden to your father?”
 (Y/N)’s eyes glossed over and turned away from the woman she went into a thousand-yard stare.
 “Well that takes care of that. Here” The woman said tossing a small envelope in the girl’s lap. “That woman with the ghastly eyebrows is the boy’s mother, yes? Ensure she gets the money to cover any expenses your little situation has caused.”
 With that the woman walked out leaving (Y/N) now free to cry and her team with a million unanswered questions.
 “What the hell was that all about?!” Hara suddenly blew up. “Yeah we know the situation but she doesn’t, so where the hell does she get off telling you not to press charges and giving your potential abuser money?!”
 “That’s just the way she’s always been, trying to save face.” (Y/N) shook her head, wiping the tears from her eyes.
 “She’s always treated you like this and your parents are just okay with that?” Yamazaki asked looking pretty steamed as well.
 “It’s either stay with her or move back home. I’ve wanted to in the past…but now I’m in too deep to quit everything now.”
 “What did she mean about you not being a good girl? About your hobby?” Furuhashi asked, still holding onto the girl’s hand.
 “I guess the reason I’ve always been able to see the good in you guys despite what people told me…is because I wasn’t always a good person either. I’d just leave it at that.”
~~~~~
 “Are you sure you’re okay?” Yamazaki asked (Y/N) as she took her seat in class. (Y/N) couldn’t help but giggle at her overly concerned friend.
 “I’m fine Zaki, my arm is broken not my leg.”
 “Yeah and besides what sense did it make for you to walk her when she and I literally have the same class?” Hara asked throwing himself down in his own seat.
 “You’re too easily distracted! A hot girl could have walked by and bam (Y/N) would be left on her own.
 “Oh bite me.”
 “Well I heard she cheated on him with one of his teammates but shes always hanging around with all of them that it was hard to tell which one she’s dating.” Hara picked up the sound of whispered girl’s gossiping, while Yamazaki continued fussing over (Y/N).
 “But still she didn’t deserve to get beaten that badly.”
 “She knew what she signed up for dating those types. Its her own fault for making poor choices.”
 Hara turned his body in his seat to face the girls who continued giggling and gossiping. Running a hand through his hair he knew instantly that they were talking about (Y/N) by the way they kept glancing at her.
 “Hey Yuna.” His voice flowed out causing the girl’s eyes to widen in surprise. She seemed to look around her as if to be sure he was speaking to her, when she realized he was she smiled brightly.
 “Umm hey Hara, we haven’t talked in awhile huh? Weirdly enough since we have the same class.” Her voice chirped out dripping with the slightest bit of resentment.
 “Yeah funny enough I was just thinking about you last night.”
 “You were?” The girl asked suddenly glowing a neon red.
 “Yeah, I was cleaning out my room and found your bra. I mean at least I figured its yours since its kinda small.”
 You could practically hear the record scratching sound in the room for the several people who heard that comment. Yuna’s face grew even redder but this time out of anger.
 “Y-you’re such an asshole! It wasn’t enough that you never called me back but you have to rub it in now too!?”
 “Hey I was honest from the start about what I wanted and you said you were okay with it. Maybe don’t make such poor choices next time.”
 “So that’s what its about? Defending that bitch!”
 (Y/N) finally turned around, along with the rest of the class to look on at the girl’s outburst.
 “You love bragging about your body count, d’you know hers is probably double?!”
 “Shut up Yuna.” Yamazaki said casting a harsh glare. “Whatever Mei has been telling you is-”
 “Mei?! Mei doesn’t have to tell me anything! Everyone knows the truth! We all know why she transferred to this school and her middle school reputation. She wanted to pretend like she was some innocent little otaku when now we all know she’s a slut! So, I’m glad Hanamiya finally got the sense to beat the shit out of her.”
 “That’s enough!” (Y/N) said slamming her good arm onto the table. She marched over to the girl and watched her slightly drift back in her seat. “I can handle all these bullshit rumours about me, but if you think you can sit there and slander my captain, my friend and speak of a situation you have no idea on…then I hope you can run those hands as fast as your mouth!”
 “Ms. (L/N)!” A teacher’s voice called out, having walked in on time to hear her threat. “Mr. Yamazaki you are not in this class so I recommend you make your way to where you belong.”
 The red head nodded and made his way out but not before giving (Y/N) a reassuring rub on the head.
 He knew deep down Hanamiya was right all those months ago. It was his fault that Mei was messing with (Y/N) and now these rumours were getting out of control.
 It was time to admit to himself that he originally did flaunt (Y/N) and his attraction to her in front of his ex. He wanted to see her hurt the way she hurt him. But the more his feelings for (Y/N) actually grew the less he cared about what Mei thought and the more he realized how much his selfish actions had hurt the girl he grew to care about.
~~~~~
 “You can’t be fucking serious?” Hara asked staring at his captain, still in school uniform.
 The rest of the team in their jerseys, stared at Hanamiya with just as much intensity. All but (Y/N), who couldn’t tear her eyes away from the floor.
 “This is fucking ridiculous! You think just because of some bullshit mistake you can just throw everything away!? We have interhigh and winter cup! This is our last chance to make it and you decide that you’re quitting on us?” Yamazaki exclaimed but Hanamiya’s face didn’t falter.
 “I don’t think you’ve thought this through. Your mother told me you’re here on a sports scholarship, so what exactly do you think will happen when you quit?” Seto asked trying to bring some logic to the situation.
 “I will lose my scholarship and be forced to pay the remainder of my tuition out of pocket. Though it would seem the money given to my mother by (Y/N)’s guardian is more than enough to cover it.”
 “Why are you deciding this? What is it going to solve?” Furuhashi asked knowing the vague reason why but not understanding what good it would do.
 “I can’t seem to control myself around her. She makes me feel too many things and that makes me want to hurt her.”
 (Y/N) stiffened, not at Hanamiya’s words but at him speaking of her as if she wasn’t there.
 “That doesn’t make sense!” Hara lashed out. “She makes me feel things and I have never wanted to hurt her, and you don’t either! You hate that you hurt her. She asks hard questions, she tells us shit other people are too afraid to, of course you’re going to feel something. And yeah sometimes its gonna make you mad but she’s not a bad person!”
 “I know she’s not.” Hanamiya said finally looking at the girl though she stayed turned away from his gaze. “She is probably the kindest person who has ever tried to be my friend and I hurt her anyway. If I can do that then I’ve become exactly what I thought I would. So I’m not gonna let it get to that, to have to force her to escape from me. I messed up so I need to remove myself from the situation.”
 “This isn’t just about you and her!” Furuhashi called out with some emotion in his voice now. “What about us?! What about basketball?”
 “We need a captain. This is your team.” Seto murmured running a hand through his hair.
 “You can have it. You be the captain, you take the team.”
 “What if I don’t want it? It’s your team that YOU built! None of us had anything to do with it! None of us care about basketball as much as you do! You’ve built this team up from nothing!”
 “It’s still nothing! All of it is just bullshit! It was built on what?! My lies, injuries and mind games!? If you don’t want it then give it to Hara and if none of you want it…then the Kirisaki Daiichi basketball team is officially disbanded after today!”
 The gym had gone whisper quiet. And it was with reason it did as her voice wouldn’t have been heard otherwise.
 “I’ll go.” (Y/N)’s shakey voice wavered out, tears finally coming from her eyes and hitting the top of her hand.
 “What?” Hanamiya asked, sneering, jumping back as the girl suddenly came at him only to throw her arms around his torso and press her face into his chest. Her tears were soaking through the layers of his clothes.
 “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Don’t go! It wasn’t your mistake it was mine. Don’t go. Don’t go. Don’t go!”
 “(Y/N), stop.” Yamazaki said, trying to usher the girl away.
 “No! You told me basketball is the only thing that makes you happy! Don’t let me take that from you! You stay and I’ll go! I promise you’ll never see me around your gym again! I…I’ll move back to Touou!”
 “Didn’t you listen to anything I just said!? You’re not running away from me! You hated Touou! I’m not letting you be the one to keep losing! You did it with Imayoshi and you’re doing it with me to! Stop apologizing to people that are hurting you!”
 “No please. Please just stay…I’ll stay away from you. I won’t speak to you or hang around you anymore than I need to! I promise. Don’t let me ruin…everything.”
 “Hanamiya you can’t quit! You told me this was what you wanted to do for life! You wanted to play college basketball and move to America!” Yamazaki interjected. “Seniors get scouted now, how the hell do you achieve your dreams without us?”
 “I guess I do something else. Life doesn’t work perfectly but you work around it.” Hanamiya deadpanned before taking a step away from the girl still clutching him. “Please get off me. The team doesn’t have to fall apart. I recommend you don’t let it.”
 With that the dark haired male made his way out the gym, leaving behind 4 stunned boys and a still weeping girl.
 “It’s all my fault.” (Y/N) mumbled to herself over and over again.
 None of the team truly believed that.
 But none of them believed denying it would help either.
~~~~~
 “Wanna shoot some hoops with me?” Yamazaki asked, running his fingers through (Y/N) hair as her head lie in his lap.
 He’d been with her as often as he could have these past few days. They walked home together and sometimes though her words never said it, the desperate way she clung to his shirt let him know she didn’t want him to leave. Those nights he would stay with her as long as she needed, even if it was all night.
 “No.”
 “Wanna get some food or-?”
 “Uh uh.”
 “Stop fuckin babying her!” Hara exclaimed slapping Yamazaki’s hands away from her head. “Look I hate to say it…but things aren’t changing, and she needs to start getting over it.”
 “That’s a douchebag thing to say!” The orange haired male exclaimed, only for (Y/N) to push out of his embrace.
 “He’s right Zaki. I guess I hoped that holding onto guilt and feeling bad for myself would somehow make him come back…but it’s been a week.”
 “Exactly and despite what we said, if we wanna keep this team an actual team we can’t start slacking off so close to the competition.” Seto said with a firm voice.
 With Hanamiya leaving, it had only made sense to have the replacement captain as the second smartest guy on the team. Dirty tactics or not, they were a team known for their strategies and analytics. Seto could definitely provide them with what they knew they would be lacking.
 “So, are we finally having practice today?” Furuhashi asked, not being happy with the distraction of practicing being absent the past few days. “Also did you finally inform Matsumoto on what was happening?”
 “Maybe and yes I did. He suspected Hanamiya was no longer a part of the team judging by the fact that he doesn’t sit with us for lunch anymore.”
 “Wait why the maybe on practice?” (Y/N) asked trying to keep her concern on the matter at hand and not dwell on that lunchroom situation.
 “Well it would seem that most of our balls have lost air from the second string continuing to practice with them…and I have no clue where Hanamiya kept the basketball supplies to find an air pump.”
 “Shouldn’t you know where that is? You’re our manager, so manage this.” Hara casted his eyes on (Y/N).
 “I know where it is but its that small supply closet in the locker room…which has a key…which Hanamiya has. I don’t know where to get another copy.” The girl admitted timidly.
 “Huh that’s a tough one.” Yamazaki commented, deep in thought.
 “Then get another pump.” Furuhashi scoffed with squinted eyes looking baffled that his team is could really be this incompetent.
 “Yeah they aren’t that expensive or anything. I can give you guys the card I use for club expenses and you can go to the-”
 “Woah woah YOU GUYS could go?” Hara asked unknowingly lifting a brow at the girl. “You mean WE could go. Are you a part of this team anymore or not?”
 “Of course, I am. I just haven’t been feeling up to going out lately.” (Y/N) said tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
 “Hey I have a sister, I know that sound and its not ‘I egged my captain into becoming what he always feared’ depression. That’s insecurity depression.” Yamazaki stared at the girl with heavy eyes. “Don’t tell me the rumours Mei is spreading are starting to get to you.”
 “They’ve been getting to her since she wrote the word ‘slut’ on her desk.” Furuhashi said with an eyeroll.
 “What when did that happen!?”
 “A few chapters ago.” Furuhashi said with a sigh. “Regardless, (Y/N) may have been making it seem like none of this is bothering her, but the only girls not bothered by those kinds rumours are the ones who know the actual truth would be worse. Heroine of the story or not, its obvious enough when someone is pretending to be strong.”
 “If it’s not true why should she worry?” Seto said rubbing the back of his neck. “And if it is true…why worry?”
 “Hey don’t talk about (Y/N) like that!” Yamazaki hissed, his eyes glowing red and tongue practically forking like a snake.
 “Like what?” Seto asked cracking his neck. “I didn’t say anything bad.”
 “You said the rumours might be true! (Y/N) isn’t some easy girl! How dare you call her a slut!” The male was now cradling the blushing girl to his chest.
 “I didn’t say she was a slut. But so what if she’s slept with all these people everyone is saying. Doesn’t change what we already know about her.”
 “It does to me! That would mean I’d have to out do her total!” Hara exclaimed. “Girls with a higher body count always act like they know more than you when you get them in bed!”
 “And what makes you so sure you could get me in your bed?” (Y/N) pouted reeling her leg back to kick him.
 “I’m sorry would you prefer the roof a- Ahh! You bitch.” Hara exclaimed reaching under the table to hold his kneecap. “I still have to play basketball on this leg!”
 “Well I doubt it could make you worse!”
 “I change my mind, let’s just disband. I have a career ending injury here.”
 “Can you end what never began?” Furuhashi deadpanned.
 “Hey can we all meet our trains of thought at the same station for once?” Seto asked rubbing his temples, wondering how the hell Hanamiya ever got anything done with this team. It was very apparent know why he had been so keen on not losing (Y/N) when he saw her potential to take care of this petty shit. “I’m captain and rules are rules. We are all going to get the damned pump after school and that’s that.”
~~~~~
 “Why is it so hard to find this damn pump!” Seto asked looking exasperated, his hair a mess.
 “Well with prelim games and competitions coming up a lot of these sports stores are selling their stock faster than they can keep the shelves full. “ (Y/N) said crossing yet another store off their list.
 “My family literally hires people to go out and buy shit for us. Please tell me why the hell we thought coming out here on foot was the best way to find this god forsaken pump?” Furuhashi asked, beads of sweat forming on his brow.
 “Because do we really wanna be ‘those’ rich kids?” Seto asked.
 “I do!” Yamazaki exclaimed trailing behind.
 “I’ve lived up to it pretty well. I’m like a male Japanese Paris Hilton.” Hara snapped his gum loudly.
 “I was born as one of ‘those’ rich kids I don’t intend on changing it now.” Furuhashi breathlessly answered.
 Seto sighed heavily before giving a small smile.
 “Can’t you guys just see this as some kind of team building?”
 “Yeah! I think it’s a nice day and this is better than being cooped up in the gym!” (Y/N) exclaimed giving Seto an encouraging pat on the back.
 “We should have just asked Hanamiya for the key!” Hara whined.
 “For athletes you guys are in horrible condition right now.” (Y/N) lifted a brow at the boys.
 “Gyms are air conditioned and don’t involve walking miles in circles.”
 “Big baby.” (Y/N) slapped Hara on the ass only to watch him jump in surprise. “Look there’s a smoothie shop there. Let’s stop in have a rest while I look up stores that might have these in stock.
 Seto watched his team members burst into the door and grab a seat. He slowly followed behind and unintentionally caught a glimpse of her phone. And he almost would have been pissed that she wasn’t looking up sporting goods stores like she said until he saw the content of the page.
 Her finger was scanning back and forth between two social media pages. Each were filled with people from Kirisaki Daiichi talking shit about her. Pictures of her innocently having lunch with them were captioned #gangbang #bukake #slut.
 “(Y/N)”
 “Yeah Seto?”
 “Can I ask you something?”
 “If it’s about what I was looking up…no.”
 “It’s not actually.”
 “Oh…then shoot.”
 “So, you remember the whole Seirin interview and how you-”
 “Hey so what gives!? Any stores have a pump or no?” Hara yelled pulling his mouth from the straw of his cup.
 (Y/N) suddenly seemed to forget Seto and walked to sit at the table next to Yamazaki. Seto realized his hand was reaching out to her a second later than he would have liked. Shaking his head, he scolded himself for having the gall to ask her what he had been about to ask.
 It was abundantly clear that the guys were pining over her…even his former captain had yet to come to terms with certain feelings he was having. And he knew given those odds, mathematically it should be a 1 to 5 shot. But with him…being him it was more like 1 to 5000.
 “I found one! I found one!” (Y/N) exclaimed before shushing her teammates and dialing the store. “Hello! I was looking at your store online and saw that you had 1 more air pump left in stock! Do you think you could please please hold it for my team and we will come by to pick it up in about 15 minutes! You’re amazing! Thank you so much!”
 “Fifteen minutes!” Yamazaki practically melted into his seat. “I just barely reregulated my body temperature! And now we have to haul ass to get there in 15 minutes?”
 “It’s at the end of this shopping strip, lazy boy!” (Y/N) said with a chuckle placing her hand on her friend’s cheek and tapping it softly. “I wanted to get the chance to actually order a smoothie too!”
 Yamazaki burned red from being called lazy. He was about to defend himself before (Y/N) leaned over to him with a smile.
 “What did you order?”
 “Umm chocolate banana.”
 “Can I try!?”
 “Ohh okay.” Yamazaki stammered, reaching a shaking hand up to remove the lid. He was caught by surprise when the girl dipped her head and wrapped her lips around the straw. Every brain cell he had was being used to focus on not crushing the cup in his hands.
 She drank from the cup he had already drunken out of like it was nothing! She put her lips were his had been like 10 seconds before. That was close enough in time to practically be a kiss. Finally lifting her head up the girl licked a drop off her lips.
 “That was really good but a bit sweet.”
 “Just kiss me already.” Yamazaki mumbled lovestruck under his breath.
 “Haha what?”
 “Nothing! You should get your smoothie so was can get that plump---pump!”
 “You think she did that on purpose?” Hara asked Furuhashi in a whispered voice, both having witnessed the interaction.
 “No. I’ve seen her actually flirting up close, this is just her being our overfriendly oblivious protagonist.”
 “Yeah I figured as mu.   .   .   .how ‘up close’ are we talking here!?”
~~~~~
 “Why is the cashier handing that extremely cute boy a basketball pump?” (Y/N) asked with wide eyes. “Online it said there was only one.”
 “Ehh I’d say he’s pretty average.” Furuhashi commented.
 “Not the point!” (Y/N) said taking off to the counter. “Excuse me! I’m so sorry to interrupt but my friends and I are in a rush and we placed a hold on a basketball pump.”
 The cashier held her smile but went ghostly pale as she looked between the boy and girl.
 “I’ll go get my manager.”
 With that the woman disappeared and (Y/N) smacked her forehead into the counter. That was until a sudden thought crossed her mind. Paying careful mind to flip her hair, just so that her perfume would waft to the boys nose she looked up at him through her lashes. The very tip of her nose was red and her eyes were watered slightly.
 “Have you already purchased that pump?”
 “Uhhmm, yeah…I mean no. I mean I put it on hold and was pay gonna---gonna pay!”
 “Oh no, I just can’t seem to catch a break today. I’ve been looking for a pump all over Tokyo it seems.”
 “Oh yeah… have too. Hard to find because competition. I don’t know why I’m not full sentence.” The boy mumbled not trying to hide his blushing face. Clearing his through the male seemed to try and put on his own charming mask. “You know, I’m getting this for a stupid reason. Why don’t you take I-”
 “Takao!” A firm voice came from behind the male causing him to stiffen. “Are you about to give away my air pump? And Oha Asa is not stupid.”
 (Y/N) frowned at the tall green haired male foiling her flirting. That pump was so close to being hers it was ridiculous.
 Looking the tall male up and down she felt a warm blush cover her face. She quickly tore her eyes away from his big strong looking hands. While he definitely seemed to be the one in control, she figured there was no harm in trying.
 Bringing the waterworks back, (Y/N) made a point of shimming her shoulders just bit pushing her breasts together as she held a hand over her eyes.
 “I’m sorry for crying like this in front of such handsome strangers. I’ve just been having the worst luck today.”
 “Then you should invest into getting your own lucky items. Precisely why I will be needing this pump.”
 At that moment (Y/N) knew her flirting was gonna get her nowhere.
 “Umm hello.” The sales associate came back practically knocking her knees into each other. “So, turns out one of my coworkers put the pump on hold for this young lady and I put the pump on hold for this young man…and my manager is really pissed and telling me its my problem so please solve this among yourselves.”
 “Wait,” Seto started, coming up behind (Y/N) to assert himself. “Who called first?”
 “I believe your friend did.”
 “But who got here first?” Midorima asked pointing to the pump in Takao’s hand matter of factly.
 “Well, umm this gentleman.”
 “Therefore, we are clearly the ones deserving of the pump. Takao pay her and lets go.”
 “We really need that pump!” Yamazaki finally came up to put in his own fight.
 “As do I, it is my lucky item for tomorrow.”
 .      .      .
 “Lucky item?” Hara asked with a questioning look.
 “Quirky horoscope stuff.” Furuhashi explained quickly.
 “Hey Shin-chan” Takao mumbled motioning the green haired male to lean down and hear his whisper.
 As he lowererd his head a tad and allowed his eyelashes to flutter slightly, (Y/N) felt her heart thumping hard.
 “Let’s just let them have it.” (Y/N) said, tugging Seto down to whisper to him.
 “What the hell? Why would we even consider doing that?”
 “Because they’re cute?”
 “Can’t we just let her have it?” Takao whispered to his own teammate.
 “Don’t be ridiculous! We’ve had all the new recruits looking for a pump all day! Why would we let her have it?”
 “Because she’s cute?”
 Both (Y/N) and Takao received reprimanding smacks on the head.
 “Come on Takao we have the rest of the team searching the shopping center for pump. Let’s go.”
 “Why don’t we play basketball for it?” Furuhashi asked, catching everyone’s attention.
 “Why would I agree to that when the item is already in our hands and one transaction away from being nonnegotiable?” Midorima sneered down at the male.
 “Pride.”
~~~~~
 “No, way! We were here first so get lost!” The guy yelled out at the two teams.
 “Come on Seto! Let me kick their asses and the court will be all ours.” Hara said while the tanned male placed an arm in front of him.
 “We should have figured that all the courts would be used right now too.” Yamazaki mumbled before looking back at (Y/N) who had been hanging back with the Shutoku team ever since they left the sporting goods store.
 “So, are you and Midorima close?” The girl asked with practically heart shaped pupils directed at the two.
 “Oh yeah! I’m like Shin-chan’s best friend!”
 “We are basketball teammates! That’s all!”
 Little hearts practically radiated off (Y/N) as she smiled at the bickering boys.
 “She’s really into one of them.” Furuhashi commented watching the exchange.
 “Do you think so?” Yamazaki asked with just the slightest hurt tinging in his voice.
 “Well yeah. She didn’t even act like this with Okamura. This is real investment; she’s been asking them about themselves the whole time.”
 The orange haired male didn’t respond but sighed deeply. Maybe that was the reason he never got further than square one with (Y/N). Regardless of who she was going after…neither was like him.
 Midorima was the serious type. The glasses character who was kind of a know-it-all asshole.
 Takao was the cool but upbeat type. The guy who was making dumb faces one minute but making girls swoon the next.
 Everyone else in Kirisaki Daiichi fell into one of those two categories.
 But as for him? He wasn’t really possessing of the brain power to be the know-it-all serious guy. And with this perpetually angry look on his face combined with his loud voice he definitely didn’t come across as the cheerful type either.
 He had naively assumed that being the first to take interest in (Y/N) meant that he would have some kind of advantage. But reality didn’t work that way romcom anime did. Nothing in the rules said she had to end up with him, or any of the guys from KiriDai for that matter.
 “Get out of here old man! This is our basketball court!”
 Yamazaki looked up to see two 7-year old kids sticking their tongues out at Seto.
 “Who are you calling an old man, you little brats!?”
 “Hey come on it’s not worth it!” The little boy said tugging on his friend’s arm. “This guy could be Yakuza or something!”
 “No no!” (Y/N) said coming between her steamed captain and the kids. Getting down on their level, it was the kids turn to grow hearts in their eyes. “I’m sorry if my friend scared you boys!”
 “He didn’t scare me at all!”
 “Yeah I just didn’t want to cause any trouble for him!”
 “How noble of you both.” The young woman patted the top of their heads, causing them to flash her huge grins. “I’m glad you two know when a fight isn’t worth it.”
 “You can borrow the court if you want!”
 “Yeah we don’t even have a basketball! We were using this!” One of them said holding out a baseball.
 .     .     .
 “Uhhhh Shin-shan, do we have a basketball?”
 “No, I assumed the team who proposed the challenge would have one.”
 Everyone on both team turned to look at Furuhashi who was failing in keeping a straight face. His mouth slowly twisted into an embarrassed little pout before he clicked his tongue.
 “I suppose I assumed someone else would let us borrow theirs.”
 “Great! Just fuc-”
 “Language! There’s children present!” (Y/N) scolded Hara.
 “Just flippin great! How in the h- do we figure out who gets the pump now?”
 “Shin-chan, doesn’t Oha Asa do a secondary item? Can’t you just get that instead of the pump?”
 The glasses-wearing male grew absolutely red in the face and covered his mouth with his hand.
 “This was the secondary item.”
 “Ehh really?” Takao said looking surprised. “Then what was the first?”
 Midorima looked around without meeting anyone’s eyes before landing his gaze on the children.
 “Cover their ears.”
~~~~~
 The walk back to the sporting goods store was quiet and just the slightest bit awkward. (Y/N) was particularly red in the face as she shuffled along with her team.
 “So uhhh, thanks for taking one for the team.” Seto commented, not sure of what to say but figuring anything was better than silence.
 “It was umm no big deal.”
 “We can reimburse you for the cost of your pa-”
 “That’s okay! Let’s just get the pump and get this over with.”
 “I never knew Oha Asa was so…kinky.” Furuhashi commented. “To think his lucky item would be a foreigner’s pa-”
 “You’ve gotta be shitting me!” Hara exclaimed as they came up on the store.
 A huge closed sign was hanging in the window of the now dark shop. Including another handwritten sign reading
 ‘We hope you guys decided who gets the pump. Unfortunately, we will be closed until 11a.m tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.’
 “Well today was productive.” (Y/N) said sarcastically.
 “Hey we made it threw as a team. I’d say today wasn’t a total loss.” Seto offered.
 “I guess we did discover that (Y/N) rides or dies hard for the team.” Hara gave the girl a nasty smirk which she proceeded to try and slap off his face.
 Yamazaki watched the two play fight before drawing in a huge breath.
 “(Y/N) can I walk you home again? I really wanted to talk with you about something!”
 The whole team suddenly grew stiff as they realized exactly what Yamazaki was gonna do. They turned to their manager waiting for her response. She looked equally surprised but gave Yamazaki a big smile and nodded her head quickly.
 “Sure!”
~~~~~
 Seto threw himself onto the couch beside his brother.
 “Hey how was your day?!”
 “Fine.”
 “Did you find an outfit to wear to the party?”
 “No, I figured I would wear my school uniform.”
 “This is serious Seto! And you wonder why mom and dad are always on your ass.”
 “Oh I know precisely why they are on my ass.”
 Seto looked at his brother and took in the small slip holding his bangs back to not fall into the goop he had sitting on his face. The older male was busy scrolling through various circle lenses on his phone no doubt figuring out which to buy before the party.
 “Please tell me you at least have a date? Mom and dad are expecting one this time!”
 “And if I don’t?”
 “You’re a senior! You should be having dates, I had dozens when I was your age.”
 “Yeah and all of them were dumb as dirt.”
 “Come on little brother! This is such a big deal for me!”
 Seto sighed. He loved his brother and he knew that this really did mean a lot to him. It was the announcement of something he had been working really hard for his whole life.
 “I know. I’ll put some effort into figuring out the outfit.”
 “And fi-”
 “And fixing my hair! As for the date…I already have one.”
 “Are you serious! Is it true?!”
 Seto felt his skin pale at the high-pitched woman’s voice come bounding into the room. His mother wrapped her arms around the shoulders of her oldest son while looking at Seto with what he would almost call smug disbelief.
 “Yes, it’s true.” He said maybe a bit more defensively than he wanted.
 “And where did we find her?”
 “The red-light district.” He said with the role of his eyes and heavy sarcasm dripping in his tone.
 “I’m serious son. If you paid or tricked some girl into this please at least be sure she can act like a lady.”
 “Oh my god?! I can’t get a date unless I’m paying or threatening her!?”
 “Hey bro, no we just th-”
 “Well you’re wrong! (Y/N) is my girlfriend and we’ve been dating for months!”
 “So, is it the girl who gave you those Valentines chocolates!? Aww my little bro has a little girlfriend! I knew you would find a good girl when the time was right! I told mom and dad you were just a late bloomer! Chukahae!”
 Seto sat in the grave he’d dug himself as his brother droned on about being happy for him and his mother maintained the unsettlingly fake smile on her face.
 He had hesitated earlier but he supposed now he didn’t have a choice in the matter.
~~~~~
 “From the sounds of it your former team was invitation only. Why did (Y/N) bypass this?”
 Hanamiya looked at the doctor and debated over his answer. He knew he was here to be psychoanalyzed but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to think and overthink all his answers before he gave them.
 This had been something he and his mother agreed on pretty quickly. An easy step to trying to make him and their relationship healthier. She was in the same one-on-one therapy sessions.
 “Because my friends wanted her to stay. And she was a bigger help to the team than I wanted to admit.”
 “And why did you never get help with the team to start with?”
 “Well you know the saying, if you want something done right do it yourself. She just happened to be the first person to do it right.”
 “I see. From the way you tell me the story of how you met I notice you didn’t speak much on it. But what about (Y/N)’s ex?”
 “What about him?”
 “Well you told me he tried to keep (Y/N) from the team. How did you feel about that?”
 “Fucking pissed. Who the hell was he to judge my whole team, call us manipulative and then go and try to manipulate his own girlfriend?”
 “So you would say he’s manipulative. Would you describe him as abusive?”
 “Yeah, I don’t know that most people would agree with that but it is what it is. If you start controlling where your significant other is going, who they talk to, and purposely try to keep them in a bad situation for YOUR own benefit then you’re an abusive piece of shit.”
 “But (Y/N) chose you.”
 .     .     .
 “Yeah.”
 “She left her abuser for you before the abuse could escalate. Almost a direct parallel to your mother leaving your father. She leaves, is hurt deeply, unbeknownst to them you are hurt in the process. It’s all just history repeating itself for you.”
 Hanamiya stayed quiet. He remembered word for word (Y/N) telling the team how she had broken up with Imayoshi and chose to make her own decision. She wasn’t going to let anyone control her and he had instantly felt himself drawn to her.
 She was protecting herself against Imayoshi. Furuhashi told him about that time on the train, she didn’t let her teammate take advantage of her, even if it wasn’t his intention. She stood her ground against the guy in the cafeteria.
 So why did it seem when he was the one with his hands strangling the life from her, or his grip bruising her soft flesh, his voice cursing and threatening her that she didn’t do anything? She let it happen….was it out of fear?
 Or maybe it was because deep down she knew what he hadn’t accepted yet…that he didn’t want to hurt her.
 “But then you switched your roles. Instead of being the young child stuck in the middle of a nasty divorce. She is now the wife and you are your father.”
 “I am his son, that’s all I can be.”
 “Yes, you have to be his son, nobody can change that. But half your DNA is of your mother, it’s a unique mix and you are your own person.”
 “What if the person I am is just bad?”
 “But what if he’s not? Have you ever given yourself the opportunity to be anything other than what you hate? I think the reason you quit your team, the reason you reach out to hurt people you truly love and the reason you don’t allow yourself much good in life isn’t because you’re too intelligent. Intelligent people have the world at their fingertips, I believe they can love life. No, I think the reason is that you’re trying to punish him. But Makoto you are…undeniably you and you’re only punishing yourself.”
 “That’s partially it but I think too I’m not as good as people hope. I’m punishing her too. It hurt her for me to leave the team and I was … glad. Ever since she joined the team I’ve been punishing myself and her too. She makes me so unbelievably angry.”
 “Anger is okay, feeling human emotion is okay. There’s no bad emotions. But there is the root of your problem. You’re not angry at (Y/N) or yourself on the deeper level.
 You are NOT your father.
 And (Y/N) isn’t your mother.
 You two can have a healthier relationship then they ever had a chance to. But you have to stop emotionally hurting the both of you.”
~~~~~
 “Thanks for walking me home Zaki!”
 “It’s no problem.” The male said leading (Y/N) up to the large guesthouse near the back of the huge estate she lived on. Scratching his temple, he was tempted to ask her the same question that had been on his mind the whole way over here.
 “So what’s on your mind? It’s been bothering you since we ran into those boys.”
 “Huh? Am I that easy to read?”
 “Yes actually.”
 “Ohh umm it’s not important. I guess I was just wondering…Do you have a thing for Takao and Midorima?!” He blurted out with no shred of dignity left.
 “Hmm? You noticed?”
 “We all noticed!”
 “Oh that’s pretty embarrassing!” (Y/N) said holding onto her red face. “They probably think I’m so weird now! I know better than shipping real people, but I just couldn’t resist they were just so perfect together!”
 “Huh? Shipping?”
 “Yeah, don’t get me wrong I’m not a fujoshi or anything but they just had such good chemistry and balanced each other so well! Now they must think I was being super creepy!”
 “What no! We all thought you were into them as in wanting to date them!”
 “Oh! Huh do you think that’s why Kazunari-kun gave me his phone number?”
 “You are so dense! How can you not tell when a guy is coming on to you!?”
 “Well I’m kinda numb to all that stuff okay?! I’m not entirely sure when someone is playing and when they’re being serious! But if it was obvious enough I would get it! I’m not stupid!”
 “Well how obvious is obvious enough?!”
 “I don’t know!”
 “What about this!”
 (Y/N) was about to ask questions before Yamazaki pressed his lips onto hers firmly. His hands were wrapped around her waist tightly, her own hesitating at his hips. When he pulled away his face was beet red and his hands were quickly behind his back.
 “I’m so sorry! I should have asked first! Of course I really do like you a lot and that’s what I wanted to tell you but still, I shouldn’t have-”
 “No no it’s okay Zaki. I mean I knew you liked me but I’ll be honest I kinda figured you still had feelings for you ex.”
 “What why would you even think that?”
 “Because you care if she’s jealous of me or not. You always tend to confront her minions about what’s happening with me but never her.”
 “No, I mean maybe when I first met you, I thought it would be cool to dangle this hot exchange student in front of her. But I really like you but the more I got to know you the more I realized you have so many things she doesn’t have. You actually care about me and what I like and what I want to do! Mei cheated on me more times than I can remember. You’re so innocent and perfect.”
 (Y/N) took in her friend’s words as she stared at her feet. She could hear the sound of cicadas in the trees behind her.
 “I’m none of those things.”
 “What do you mean?”
 “I mean that what exactly do you think of as innocent? What if I have gotten around as much as people are saying. You’ve heard all the rumours.”
 “Yeah but they aren’t true.” Yamazaki said gripping the girl’s forlorn face to tilt her head up for eye contact. “They aren’t true, right?
 (Y/N)?”

hara x yamazaki; on gaming
“Hey, Hara, I don’t think I like basketball anymore.”
Yamazaki stares at his hands, at callused fingers and grazed knuckles, as Hara leans over to kiss his forehead. The other teenager’s eyes are fixed on his phone. He’s playing some monster-killing app; the little hero figure that Hara’s controlling is swinging his sword right into the beast’s chest.
“I think I might quit the team,” continues Yamazaki.
Hara shifts. It’s a slight movement, barely even a change in position, and yet, suddenly, Yamazaki feels like the contact of their bare elbows is burning into his bone. It’s never good when Hara’s silent; his quiet is like the bubbling of milk on a fire, you never know when it’s going to spill over.
(And Yamazaki knows Hara knows that he knows that. It’s one of the game’s several unspoken rules.)
“You can’t quit though. You’d have nothing without basketball. It’s the only thing you’re mildly good at,” replies Hara, in an unaffected tone, as blood spurts out of the monster on his phone screen. “Anyway, Hanamiya wouldn’t let me keep seeing you if you quit.”
Yamazaki knows full well that even the captain doesn’t have that kind of power over Hara.
Turning his head, Hara smiles, nuzzles Yamazaki’s cheek with his nose. “So you’d be completely alone. And you don’t want to be alone, do you, Hiroshi?”
Yamazaki recognises this is all just part of Hara’s games. He recognises Hara doesn’t actually care that much about basketball - that Hara’s interest in the sport is almost entirely linked to the feeling of crushing an opponent, both literally and otherwise - and he’d like to think Hara cares more for him than for Hanamiya too. Hypothetically, Yamazaki could leave the team today. Maybe, even leave Hara behind. Find some new friends, a new lover.
But, every time Yamazaki’s thoughts start falling into that childishly optimistic stream, he remembers it’s too late for him now. He’s been tainted with the dense black sin of the team. He’s already one of the villains.
Nor does he have the chance for redemption or a second life; those are concepts only found in games. (At least, that’s what Hara says - and maybe that’s why they enjoy their evenings playing fighting games together, where Hara can cut Yamazaki down over and over again, where Yamazaki can bleed out but never quite die.)
And, in the words of his companion, Hara’s the only one who’ll stay with him regardless of what he’s done. He’s the only one whose fingers will interlink with Yamazaki’s, and whose teeth will sink down into his neck, punishing him for his immorality, like a priest who judges and still forgives.
With that in mind, thinks Yamazaki (as he moves a little closer to Hara - whose body heat is violently hot - hiding his head behind Hara’s, so he can only see the now-dead monster on the screen from the corner of his eye), who can blame him for staying this long?

Headcanons or a scenario maybe, of the kiridai boys protecting/defending each other? Because people are going to be mean to them and I just want to see them be friends
Right so
actually before i talk about high school, i just wanna say that hara and yamazaki (who in my mind are childhood friends, as you all probably know) have been defending each other for ages
e.g. in middle school, though neither of them were ever bullied, they had a brilliant love/hate relationship, based off the logic that “i can bully you but no one else can”
so imagine that they get in a fight (cause you know hara was always trying to rile zaki up, and middle school zaki had even less self restraint), maybe zaki storms out of the room
some snotty-nosed lil “i wanna be friends with hara” loser dares to mock how ‘badly’ zaki fights, to which hara responds with beating that guy up as well
the two always had each other’s back
tbf that applies to high school kiridai too
in short, the boys just have an instinct to lie for one another - if anyone asks why seto’s missing from a lesson without a reason, etc - but, at the same time, they can never lie to one another, it’s always too obvious
but enough of abstract concepts, the people want real ✨team interactions✨
anyway
realistically, there’s not a lot of situations where they need to protect each other, given that they have a pretty comfortable situation in school
no one has the audacity to try bully them, including the teachers, thanks to Mr Makoto’s lil disciplinary committee making sure that no discipline whatsoever happens
yeah come to think of it, makoto’s the big protector man huh
imagine even daring to bring up that, i dunno, furuhashi threatened to kill a fellow student, at the disciplinary committee meeting
hanamiya sat back on his chair, grinning, like: sorry?
dumb but bold (sticking up for a friend) first year: i have it on very good authority that 2nd year furuhashi kojiro held a knife to my friend’s throat after my friend accidentally bumped into him.
hanamiya: i have it on better authority that that’s bullshit. so, moving on...
first year has no further reply cause one of the older members gives them a very warning look
the best thing about all is this that hanamiya doesn’t even need to threaten people anymore; all the first years get warned by people who’ve previously had associations with hanamiya, and so it goes
let’s summarise a bit:
hanamiya will never defend his buddies to someone else, in the sense that he won’t say anything nice about them (except he probably had to break this rule to explain, to the others, why he was bringing seto onto the team). but he is the constant protector, allowing them to run free as the wind
matsumoto doesn’t tend to say anything positive about his teammates (especially not about hanamiya, which is a bit sneaky - cause he’s also benefiting from the disciplinary committee situation), but, occasionally, if someone in one of his not-basketball circles is criticising them (particularly if they’re criticising zaki), he’ll let out a hmmph or even a “you don’t know what you’re talking about. fuck off”
seto makes everyone sound good in front of their parents. he’s as good as hanamiya when it comes to interacting with people’s parents, except, when hanamiya compliments you to your mother, you know he’s fucking with you. when seto does it, it takes you by surprise. it almost sounds a lil sincere in his gruff way of acknowledging that you don’t suck :’)
zaki is a very intense defender of his teammates, and he can and will get physical. but alas no one really criticises his teammates around him as a result.
the last time it happened, was that a bunch of smart students were walking past him complaining about seto (“i’ve seen him sleeping in lessons so there’s no way he got the top mark for this exam without cheating”) and mr. delinquent zaki, tieless, was already rolling up his sleeves, like “the fuck did you just say?”
then hara’s also a “the fuck did you just say” kinda guy, but in a more sing-songy way, like “hmmm? what was that? maybe i didn’t hear you right but i thought you just said my captain was a talentless fraud.”
this is said whilst approaching two gossiping basketball playing first years (from a different school) from behind, hara popping his head in between theirs, his arms around their shoulders, like
“doesn’t deserve to be a considered an uncrowned king, huh?”
and then, when he walks away, the first year’s probably have bloodied faces
(hara has a heavy dose of imayoshi energy in him - a tentacle nightmare)
furuhashi, finally, is a bit quieter. he’s prefers to walk into people, trip them over, etc, rather than the whole big confrontation
but if he hears someone, perhaps a certain student at the end of the day, walking with his friends, commenting on, for example, how he has ancient literature with hara, and how hara acts so tough but he’s really just a nerd with a shitty dye job
well furu can’t stand for that (:
grabs that guy, shoves him against the wall, pulls his penknife out (yeah furu carries a penknife around with him for pruning and whatnot, the ‘whatnot’ referring to situations like this) and presses it against the guy’s neck
the dude in front of his is shaking, seriously shaking
and furu’s just there with the knife and a completely blank gaze.
when his victim’s eyes go moist, the knife gets pressed a little harder against his neck, and furuhashi says, with absolutely no emotion,
“oh look. you’ve pissed yourself.”

kiridai as youtubers (au)
Hanamiya Makoto
hanamiya’s youtube has very much a ‘jack of all trades’ thing going on
on the more academic front, it’s a mix of video essays, well constructed analyses of other youtuber’s content (mostly creepier videos), and some book reviews (mostly non-fiction, where he adds his own research into the mix)
and on the more chill side, it’s very snarky commentary videos criticising stuff he found on the internet (occasionally with hara), exploring some internet rabbit holes, and some well-edited and simplistic vlogs about his study day
the people who are a fan of his more intellectual content are pretty chill; the people who are a fan of his snarky commentary videos are dangerously obsessed
probably one of those youtubers where no one really criticises them, cause of how unpleasant their fans will be in the backlash
Hara Kazuya + Yamazaki Hiroshi
writing these two together cause they’re pretty much a package deal
hara was originally a pranking + public interview channel (cause this man has no shame), but over time he’s chilled out and has mostly more vlogs w/ friends (often featuring street ball), and the occasional drum cover
zaki has been a gaming channel throughout his time on youtube; the only videos that aren’t gaming-related are his infrequent vlogs from when he’s spent the day with hara
yeah zaki’s the most common face to see on hara’s channel
and these days, they also stream together whilst gaming
hara really does wear zaki out though, poor guy; zaki will be in the middle of a very intense fight, whilst hara’s at the side like “where’s the befriend button don’t you think it’s kinda unfair they don’t let us befriend the boss” and “why’s this green guy following me, is it into me or not <haraaaaa was blown up by a creeper>
at the same time, it’s mad entertaining watching zaki (the ‘pro-gamer’) explaining the rules of the game very seriously, whilst hara finds exasperating zaki even more entertaining
Seto Kentaro
started off with a studygram, that became popular due to how organised (and aesthetic without being overly so) (see here for what i’m talking about) the photos were, and also how eloquently the captions would be written
i mean, sometimes the captions are just “friday at the library” and sometimes they’re mini essays on whatever has piqued his interest recently, with footnotes and everything
then started posting on youtube, mostly just long and unedited videos of him studying (without his head in the frame), those kinda asmr/“study with me” videos
but he posts very rarely on youtube, and he’s not particularly active on instagram either - honestly the only reason he’s earning any money from it, is because none of his videos get demonetised and the algorithm treats them very well
will probably stop posting when he graduates uni (though granted, with his plans to do a masters, and possibly even a phd, that may not happen for some time)
Furuhashi Kojiro
has two youtube channels
one is one of those aesthetic/peaceful cooking channels, with amazing cinematography and really crisp audio, but no speaking - so all the info on the cooking is in the subtitles
and sometimes he will add instructions like “slaughter them”, regarding some radishes, but is it a joke like it is on other cooking channels..?
all his fans are very positive though, and a good chunk of his following are fans of the cottage core aesthetic and have been drawn in by the charm of his garden and on he mostly focuses on vegetarian recipes, which he starts from scratch with his homegrown ingredients
he does do the occasional video focusing on gardening, and on the plants he’s tending, but most of the time he will only show a short clip of himself picking some herbs
and is other channel is a small but straight up horror shorts channel - with blood, static, etc -  that’s had at least one of its videos discussed by a ‘horror commentary’ channel
he’s also currently toying with the idea of expanding this channel into an arg
and no one will ever know that both these channels belong to just one man

I'm new to tumblr and knb, so I don't really know if this had been asked before or not, but would you be willing to do headcanons of our kiridai boys if they were dating a girl that was taller than them? I'm taller than most everyone I meet and most boys and the reactions I get are always negative, so I wondered if the Kiridai boys would have issues with being shorter than their girl or would they be neutral, or would some of them kind of dig it?
I mean, Hara likes girls with nice legs and I can say, tall girls have the longest legs.
Tumblr media
hanamiya, haizaki, and imayoshi done here
Hara Kazuya
you’re right about him liking the long legs that come with a tall s/o
has very much a “hate seeing them go, love watching them leave” attitude towards the whole situation
anyone up to 6’6 is a possibility; past that, he starts feeling a lil short
(and, of course, he’s not got any problems with them wearing heels)
has asked them to dip kiss him (where he’s the one being dipped) on more than one occasion too
Seto Kentaro
given that he’s 6’3 in a country where the average heights are 5’7 and 5’2 (for men and women respectively), i think getting used to someone taller than him might take a little time
but it’s not impossible, especially not if they’re smart (with him, intelligence in a s/o beats all else)
and i can’t imagine he’d have wanted to ever have a much shorter partner - so his tall s/o has nothing to worry about in that respect (though it’s not like he’s good at comforting insecurities)
Yamazaki Hiroshi
honestly i think zaki would struggle with having a girlfriend taller than him at first, or even a girlfriend his height (it’s the 5’11 complex in a tall man’s sport)
but he wouldn’t dislike someone solely based off their height, he’d just be a little more unkeen to admit his feelings
there’s a lot of potential though for a very healthy relationship between him and a taller person - it would just take time, because he’s the type to fix himself for another
so anyone over maybe 5’9, prepare to keep your platform shoes and whatnot in the closet for a bit
Furuhashi Kojiro
can’t imagine that furu’s ever even considered height expectations/requirements in an s/o (unlike maybe zaki or hanamiya)
and he also can’t imagine that someone would actually be concerned or insecure in their own height
for him, it’s more the personality that matters - you can be 6’8 and he’ll be fine with it, but if you act like you’re the tougher one because you’re 6’8, then …
man just wants to be somewhat in charge; is that too much to ask?
also furuhashi’s the type of person to just seem ‘tall’ (it’s a vibe thing - tell me someone understands what i’m talking about it); even with a tall s/o, he’s still doesn’t come off as small, so it’s never going to be an issue of insecurity with him

kd little sibling had a nightmare and is coming to them for comfort, how would they react?
[presuming the lil sibling is around 4-7 years of age]
Hanamiya Makoto
checks to see if his mother’s still awake
if she is, little sibling gets passed on to her; if she isn’t, hanamiya’s not cruel enough to wake her up, so entertaining the lil bugger it is
and by “entertaining” i mean, telling them that whatever scared them in their dreams doesn’t exist, and that they only monster they’ll ever face is him if he doesn’t get enough sleep
in the morning, lil kid is still probably curled up by its brother’s back, both of them asleep
Furuhashi Kojiro
honestly why would you come to furuhashi in the middle of the night; he’s probably scarier than the monster in the closet
but at the same he’s also a good older brother, who’ll stay up with his younger sibling until they’re more at ease
and if that’s not an option, “3am baking ft a child” is also an option
by the time, the dough’s in the oven, little sibling is already asleep, so furu can go carry them back to bed
Seto Kentaro
one eye opens and that’s about all the response that little sibling gets from very practically-still-asleep older brother
but, that said, any family relation of seto’s would know that that’s all they’re getting
the real reason little sibling comes to him is because seto makes a very good teddy bear, and scarer-away of all demons
not to mention, it’s hard not to fall asleep when you’ve got seto’s chest as a pillow, and his arm on you as a blanket
Yamazaki Hiroshi
poor old half-conscious zaki, fumbling around in the dark to turn the light on, probably stubbing in toe in the process
all the while with a child on his hip, crying into his shoulder over how they dreamt he was dead
and zaki’ll continue to waste his night reassuring them that no, everyone’s still alive
despite the fact that he’s got practice first thing in the morning, so he really needs his sleep
Hara Kazuya
man’s groaning “you gremlin, don’t you have anyone else to bother” as the kid flicks the light on, and starts poking him till he wakes up
once hara’s awake though, having the miserable child on his hands inspires him to wake everyone else as well
ends up with the two of them snacking in the living room at 6am, watching tv on normal volume
with both the kid and hara cheered up by seeing the procession of pissed souls storming in to complain about them

Hellooo! Can I request a scenario or a headcannon whichever you're up to about kirisaki daiichi team having a training camp? Gotta ask team interaction from you because they're always so spot on *chef kissss. And thank you in advance! :)
alright so the training camp is mostly just the boys hanging out together for a week - it’s not a proper training camp by any means, since what kind of school would invite kirisaki daiichi to play with them?
that said, they’re a successful club, and they go to a rich school (and at least one of their parents is giving money to the school), hence they’re given a pretty big club budget for the ‘camp’
anyway they head off to okinawa (the claim is that the beaches will be good exercise and whatnot; in reality, hara just wants to play in the sea, seto likes sleeping on the sand, and yamazaki wants to get as far away from his family as he can)
and i’d just like to take a moment here to ask for y’all to pity hanamiya
cause he’s the designated adult of the trip, largely because he’s the coach and he has to make them do all the exercises they came there for
which also means he’s the one at the airport like, “does everyone have their boarding passes?” “hara, you should have gone to the bathroom earlier, we’re going to be late for our plane” “where the fuck is matsumoto”
(matsumoto is literally one metre away, headphones in, hood on his head, like the emo teenager pretending that the people calling for him aren’t his family)
hc that hanamiya’s never really been on that many planes, cause he’s not a rich kid TM, so for him airports are a really big deal, but the others are used to international holidays, so even zaki’s not too fussed about aiports - and all this stresses hanamiya out further, because why is everyone so relaxed?
(hanamiya and seto get into at least 3 different arguments by the time they board the plane)
right anyway i could fill a whole post talking about just the plane journey alone, but we’re moving onto the actual training camp
under the cut so that y’all’s dashes aren’t just this one post
as i mentioned earlier, no school would want to play with kiridai, so the training camp’s main activities are: exercising/playing 3v3s on the beach, playing beach volleyball (none of them like basketball enough to be playing it 24/7, and at least volleyball’s good jumping practice + cardiovascular exercise), and then playing streetball with the locals and making them hate them
they stay at an airbnb with three rooms which are shared between:
yamazaki/hara (both move a lot in their sleep, so in the mornings, they’re either sprawled across the opposite ends of the room, or lying on top of each other: there’s no in between)
hanamiya/seto (room’s kept pretty tidy throughout their stay, and there’s a small pile of books in the middle - they both brought novels with them, so when they finish their own, they read the other’s)
furuhashi/matsumoto (you’d think their time spent together is awkward, but they’re pretty happy in each other’s company, knowing that the other won’t disturb them in any way)
actually time to talk about how important furuhashi is during the training camp
furuhashi’s the designated cook for breakfast/lunch (if it was up to the rest of them, they’d probably just eat raw bread or instant noodles or gum, in hara’s case), and then dinner usually involves stumbling along to the closest restaurant/shop to give furuhashi a break
it’s also therefore furuhashi’s job, in the evening, to buy food for breakfast/lunch - hara/zaki are usually too busy playing games together, seto’s either asleep to trying to, hanamiya has a stern look on his face as he writes down his comments as to that day’s work)
but furu’s just as tired as the rest of them, so matsumoto goes with him to buy shit, like the good teammate he is, so they can share the load
(and, maybe, walking together close enough that their hands brush, as the sky’s just beginning to darken, and the crickets are chirping all around them, and the stars are faintly glimmering in the sky, they fall in love, but that’s just a joke… unless?)
there’s so much more i could talk about,, so little time,,, so here are some scenarios:
hara convincing zaki to help bury seto in the sand whilst seto’s sleeping, during a break from training, they then go off to swim, forget where seto was, and so everyone has to spent the night trying to find him again (seto, of course, does not yell for help, cause, in his mind, being stuck = not having to do more exercise)
furuhashi makes friends with the old lady who lives next door after complimenting her garden; she brings them all sweets and tells them they’re all such fine young men. zaki gets a little emotional leaving her because no one else has ever called him a fine young man
hanamiya has no less than 5 arguments with everyone else individually, thanks to his Coach Hat being firmly on his head; by the end of the trip, everyone’s a little bit scared of him.
(for the record, hanamiya’s only grumpy when they’re supposed to be training. in the evenings, he’s his usual ‘goofy’ self, when he can relax a bit)
matsumoto and hara meet in the kitchen at 3am, when matsumoto had gone there to get some water, and hara was looking for a snack. they have an hour-long conversation about the meaning of life, the inherent fear of graduation, and the effect of the education system on the youth. it’s the closest matsumoto has allowed hara to get to him in a year
so, in the morning, around 7am, when the team is eating breakfast, matsumoto actually passes hara the salt.
this is considered one of the miracles of the training camp.
(does that mean there are more miracles that happen during training camps? alas this post is already too long… but training camp asks are always welcome ;) )
also fujimaki,,, the script is practically written for you now, Please make a kiridai ova

Let's get real for a sec; Whom of the members in the team is most awkward/most experienced during "the do"? And whom actually knows what he's doin' and actually makes love and pleases you instead of robotically thrusting into you like a hot knive in a chunk of butter?
best
hara - fun guy TM, likes when it’s a good experience all round, not just heavy panting finished with an ‘i’m gonna-!” the type to make a “that’s what she said” joke right in the middle of ‘the do’; at least it’s never too serious with him, right?
yamazaki - not got much experience, but, because of that, he’ll listen to what you want him to do, rather than just trying to shove himself in. (either this, or it’s pillow princess zaki, if that’s his s/o’s thing, in which case he’s also good, cause he looks cute when he blushes)
furuhashi - this is just me going off on a tangent but killing people and doing the do have a lot of similarities, and realistically how much of sensuality is just holding a gun up to someone’s forehead so y’all’s lips are real close? anyway, with that in mind, furuhashi is a sensual lover but only cause he’s mildly homicidal and when he looks at you, it’s like he hates you, and apparently that gets people off
hanamiya - he’s got experience but he can’t be nice to people in sfw situations, you really think he could make ‘love’ to someone? it’s only fun with him if you really hate yourself. (also it’s not like he’d ever ask what you like, cause that pass his self-designed barriers of how nice he can be)
seto - i’ve talked about him being asexual before, but, regardless, there’s no way seto is putting in anything but minimum effort into this. there’s no way in hell that seto can thrust; it’ll be challenge enough getting in any position that’s not lying down
haizaki - bro this man gives no shits about what the other person wants from this, probably thinks women are a ‘light with added flesh. also, 90% of his experience is porn, aka a) unrealistic expectations (will put your legs in a position that hurts too much to get any pleasure out of it), b) has no clue if you’re faking it or not (wouldn’t care even if he did), c) thinks that the whole point is just him getting off
worst

I love ✨team interactions✨ please give us more
Ask and You Shall Receive though these are more general headcanons
furuhashi has a collection of plants which were originally zaki’s. see, zaki bought them out of some ideology of “if i take care of a plant, then it makes up for me always injuring people” but it was a dumb idea cause he kept forgetting to water them, and most of them died - until green-fingers furu came to the rescue: all the plants are healthy now, but zaki’s not allowed anywhere near them.
as the only two in the team who aren’t a part of any committee, seto and zaki do find themselves hanging out when everyone else is busy. usually they’ll go eat together or (if the weather’s good) chill in a local park, and chat about Worldy Matters. e.g. seto: “so prosectors have been called in to work on this case about embezzlement in the diet”, zaki: “man for real? damn”
zaki once quoted something of seto’s in a lesson, and now his teacher thinks he’s a genius who just doesn’t want to look smart - especially cause seto can’t be bothered to speak in class - and hara, finding this really funny, likes to make a drama of constantly asking yamazaki for help during lessons, even though zaki’s got worse grades than him
the boys very rarely visit furuhashi’s house, simply cause he doesn’t want hara anywhere near his sister. little does he know that hara already knows her - she works at a cafe near his house - and that she’s got a massive crush on the guy. that said, furuhashi is unlikely to figure out that the “handsome, mysterious, gentlemanly pink-haired stranger” his sister dotes on is the dumb fuck who lies on the changing room floor, whines about his misery, and tries to trip over those who ignore him
seto knows a lot of obscure idioms. one of these includes “a small man’s knowledge is as limited as his stature”. the last time he quoted it to hanamiya, he got thrown across the gym.
surprisingly or otherwise, hanamiya knows some martial arts. he took a couple classes when he was a kid (and then quit when his teacher was all like “use your knowledge to help people not harm”), though most his knowledge is just from reading through old texts. on a side note, man probably worships sun tzu’s “the art of war”
the only thing that brings zaki joy in this world is playing animal crossing. his island is awfully designed, and he’s somehow got a knack for only having ugly islanders, and yet he genuinely worships his little dumpster-looking land.
matsumoto will do a 180 if he sees hara in the corridors. hara has taken this a sign that he must constantly bother matsumoto about “woe is me! my love is unrequited!” which only furthers the problem. (secretly, matsumoto actually doesn’t mind hara, and finds the guy mildly funny, except he’d never tell hara that or the boy would be impossible to deal with)
(hara is impossible to deal with anyway)
(he’s got such strong MC energy please can some basketball manga give him a job)

'edgy' content you say.... well how about hara and teeth? maybe he collects them after he's beaten/killed someone? then makes some cute jewellery and gifts to his s/o? 'wow hara thanks the teeth on this wristband look so real' 'haha yeah :) '
right well...
okay first off, what kind of person says “wow thank you for the bracelet, i love the teeth on it” (edit: i did a little research, and apparently this is genuinely a thing, and not just anon being slightly mental. sorry for jumping to conclusions, anon.)
but that aside
hara’s collection of teeth is completely by accident - unlike furuhashi, he’s never pulled them out of a victim by purpose, his punches are just strong enough to knock them out
and seeing all those teeth on the ground really does make a man think, “wow wasted materials.”
as a boy with no sisters, hara did have a little trouble learning about how to make jewellery, but he tried his best, and dragged yamazaki into helping him out
(yamazaki does the little, fiddly things, because hara gets bored of it quickly, and zaki’s surprisingly good at it)
he mainly makes necklaces and bracelets, since they’re the easiest to make, but he has tried to make a couple rings in the past
none of these rings have actually reached his s/o however, because he fucked up on making them, and would be embarrassed to show them to her
(hey, maybe the engagement ring will be made with teeth too... haha jk.... unless?”)
anyway, his s/o definitely thinks the teeth are fake, at this point, since he’s producing more pieces of jewellery than people should have access to teeth? no one should have as many teeth as hara has somehow collected
in other news, hara has definitely tasted some of these teeth before.
no i will not be answering questions about that.

My Harem is Entirely Bad Boy Types (Kirisaki Daiichi x Reader) Pt. 7
Chapter 7: I Think We’re At That Point Were My Harem Story Gets Serious, And I’m Totally Not Ready For That!
 “I’m sorry, I really don’t know.” (Y/N) responded, looking seriously at the woman in front of her.
 “Nothing at all? Not even from all the time you’ve spent with him?”
 “…Makoto’s reasons have never been very telling. He hurt Kiyoshi because he hates someone like him. He hurts everyone else because…he can. Because he wants to prove that anyone can be trash. I’m sorry but I can’t think of any other reason why.”
Ms. Hanamiya nodded slowly before pressing her hands tightly over her mouth to not let out a sob. (Y/N) didn’t know what to do. The older woman had asked this of her the day they met. To be able to sit and discuss with her…to discuss Makoto.
 To know why he was the way he was and why he did all these awful things.
 “So, you’re telling me he’s just…evil. It’s just in his nature. There’s nothing I can do.”
 “I’m sorry I didn’t mean for it to come out li-”
 “Don’t apologize. I’ve seen it for a long time…I just never did anything about it. Maybe it’s genetic and then that’s my fault because Makoto didn’t pick his father, I did.”
 (Y/N) suddenly remembered the comment her captain had given about his dad during the interview. She had been curious ever since.
 “Was his father a bad influence?”
 “That man was the devil himself, but I always thought that since my baby was three when I finally left…that he wouldn’t remember all of it. That he would be different.”
 “Remember all of what, ma’am?”
 “The abuse.”
 “I’m sorry to hear that.”
 “It was my own fault. Everyone warned me about him and I knew how he was. But I was the baddest girl at school and wanted to be dating the baddest boy. He was a basketball player and I started talking to him after going to one of his games. Well I was probably barely sixteen when I got pregnant. I thought he’d want nothing to do with me but he invited me to live with him after my parents kicked me out.”
 (Y/N) nodded to herself. She had figured as much with the woman looking as young as she did and having a son Makoto’s age. However, she had no place to judge her situation.
 “I think he just saw our baby as the ultimate manipulation, a part of him I would always have. I knew I could have made it on my own but not with a baby. I stayed through all that man’s treatment because I wanted my son to have a better life than what I had. So, I would sacrifice my own body to be sure he stayed healthy.”
 A lightbulb went off in the girl’s head, a possibly answer to one particular question of ‘why’. But still she said nothing.
 “And when it was only me on the receiving end I was fine. But the day came when he struck our son too. Well me and Makoto shimmied out the bathroom window that night and scaled down from the 3rd floor with just one bag. And now I can’t help but think…I didn’t get him out of there in time. I let him watch this man put his hands on me for 3 years, eventually letting the same thing happen to him.”
 “But you ca-”
 “Yet…in the back of my mind I think of all the times I spoke to him gently. All the times I told him how he was supposed to be and how what his father was doing was wrong. I tried to show him to be kind and loving. Why didn’t those characteristics stick?”
 “I think they did. Somewhere in there but they got mixed with everything else too. I won’t lie and say your son is a misunderstood and innocent soul. No, I may not believe him to be an evil person, but he’s done evil things. He’s ruined someone’s life. Still I think he can change, I think he needs serious help.”
 “I know. I’ve known for a long time that he needed to see a professional, but I just could never get the courage to tell him. He just…the way he looks at me when he thinks I won’t notice. And he used to get so mad when I told him anything at all.”
 “Ms. Hanamiya, are you afraid of Makoto?” (Y/N) asked with a firm voice. She watched the woman fiddle with her own cup of coffee before glancing around the café as if someone would hear her. “Are you afraid of your own son?”
 “Makoto… he looks and acts so much like his father. It terrifies me…he terrifies me. When he was four, I remember taking him to the park and I looked up to see him pushing this little girl off the swing when there was an open one right next to her. I didn’t even scold him I was just stared. And he caught my eye and looked right back at me with no shame, as if he was studying my reaction. I’ve never stopped being scared.”
 (Y/N) sipped up the rest of her tea and traced circles on the rim of the cup. There was a lot she had to say about this but nothing that she wanted to give as advice to a fully-grown woman. And she also knew that if her captain ever found out she was meeting with her…she didn’t know what would happen.
 “Well that’s enough out of me. I know it wasn’t fair of me to try and get information about my son out of you and I wont waste anymore of your time.”
 “Oh no, I understand why you would want to talk to me about it. But I do have to go, my team has a charity benefit to go to tonight.”
 “A charity benefit? Makoto didn’t mention anything like that.”
 “He didn’t want to go.”
 “I see….is it black-tie?”
 “Yes ma’am.” (Y/N) began before looking at her with serious eyes. “Is he not going because he doesn’t have anything to wear? I know he struggles to buy lunch sometimes and with you telling me he’s only at KiriDai on scholarship…I don’t mean to assume.”
 “Not that he’d ever tell me but I do believe that to be the case. I don’t have a suit for him to wear and the nicest outfit he owns is his school uniform and even that cost me so much overtime to pay for.”
 (Y/N) bit at her lip nervously. She wanted to do something, but she also didn’t want to offend. Taking a few moments to decide the girl put on a business face.
 “You said you’ve worked at the department store for a long time correct?”
 “Yes dear.”
 “I can lend you some money if you agree to speak with the store manager for me. You see I’ve been working with this company…”
~~~~~
 “Please! Please! Please! Please!” Hara said actually chasing the girl around the gym.
 “Leave me alone! Do you know how hard it is to run in heels?!” (Y/N) shouted back as she clacked across the linoleum floors.
 “I do.” Furuhashi deadpanned not paying Yamazaki any mind when he asked if he was joking or not.
 “I wanna see what dress you picked! You can’t leave that coat on all night! Come on take it off!”
 (Y/N) let out a yelp as Hara caught up quickly and hoisted her up over his shoulder. She laughed as the male spun her, trying to disorient her.
 “Stop! I will pee on you in self-defense!”
 “He’d probably be into it.” Seto commented fixing his cuffs.
 “Eww who the hell would actually want that!?” Yamazaki exclaimed, looking disgusted.
 “I do.”
 “Oww did you actually bite me!?” Hara’s voice called out as he quickly dropped the girl to the floor.
 “(Y/N) warned you. I know for a fact she’s a biter.” Furuhashi said extending his hand to help the girl off the floor.
 “So, something did happen when you stayed at her place!?” Yamazaki accused with a finger pointed directly at the blank-eyed male.
 Neither of the accused said anything, instead choosing to look away and ignore the loud male. The whole team settled down as they tried to adjust their formal wear. They were now just waiting on Seto’s ride to come and drop them off collectively at the venue.
 (Y/N) checked her makeup for the 5th time since she arrived only for the compact to be gently taken out of her hand. Yamazaki snapped it shut and gave her a smile.
 “You look gorgeous, stop worrying.”
 “Thanks Zaki, I just want to be sure my makeup looks perfect.”
 “I think you look perfect without it.”
 Seto made a comical gagging sound but (Y/N) only smiled with a slight blush on her face. Standing up from the bleachers she reached her hand up to adjust her friend’s tie.
 “You look very handsome too, Zaki.”
 “So, when are we leaving?” A sudden deep voice called out from the gym entrance.
 The team turned to see their captain standing there his a black on black suit. His usually stringy hair looked soft and one side was slicked back behind his ear. He didn’t try to make eye contact with anyone as he strolled in like it was perfectly normal.
 “Hey you showed.” (Y/N) said with a teasing smirk. “I thought you were too good to come.”
 “I never said that idiot. Don’t put words in my mouth. I couldn’t trust the reputation of my team to this motley crew. I figured I would come to keep an eye on you guys.”
 “You clean up nicely. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you put this much effort into your appearance.” Seto commented with a small smile.
 “Thanks. You guys actually came together pretty well too. Except for our little train wreck over here.” Hanamiya said coming up to (Y/N). “What’s with the trench coat, you a pervert or something?”
 “I was saving my dress reveal until we got there but high demand means I must supply.” (Y/N) joked before unbuttoning jacket and allowing it to slip from her shoulders.
 As the coat fell to the ground dramatically (Y/N) gave a slow spin. All the guys couldn’t help but stare. In her usual completely unsexy school uniform, she wasn’t the person you would cast a second glance at but this was definitely not her school uniform.
 Her dress was an emerald green mermaid style with long black lace sleeves. The back was completely open, decorated only with thin sparkling silver chains. It fit her as if it had been one of a kind created just for her.
 “So? How do I look?” The girl asked though she was already internally smirking from the boys’ reactions to her.
 “Stop fishing for a compliment you know you look hot. Now let’s go.” Hanamiya said giving a slight eye roll before turning and calling his team out to leave.
 (Y/N) smiled and began walking after her captain only to feel Yamazaki place a gentle hand on her elbow. Turning to him she noticed his face wasn’t as angry looking and strained as it usually was. He held his arms out to her with a smile.
 “Can I escort you into the car?”
 “Sure!”
 “Yeah well I call escorting her into the actual event!” Hara said grabbing the girl’s other arm ungracefully.
 “What? Hell no! Walking in with her on your arm, people will think you two are a couple! They already thought that enough when you two had Mako, now it’s free game!”
 “You said it yourself! We have a child together, so of course I would escort her in.”
 “What if there’s other hot girls there? Huh? When they see you with (Y/N) you’ll lose your chance with all of them.”
 “You wish. I could flirt with any of them with (Y/N) hooked around my waist and I’d still get whoever I wanted.”
 “You cocky asshole!”
 (Y/N) watched the two friends bicker and chuckled as Furuhashi swooped in to actually take her arm and lead her out the gym.
~~~~~
 “Hara my feet hurt!” (Y/N) pouted as the male dragged her across the dance floor. “Why do we have to dance every song?”
 “Because I leave you alone long enough and one of our teammates will ask you to dance, or worse one of these other assholes might.”
 (Y/N) rolled her eyes at that. She knew that her heart to heart with Hara had moved her up from spank-bank material to waifu levels but boy was taking this too seriously.
 “Yandere type.” (Y/N) mumbled to herself, catching Hara’s attention.
 “I thought we were all the bad-boy type?”
 “Sure but now that I get to know you guys, there’s a few subtypes.”
 “Oh really? I’d like to hear that.”
 “Well Furuhashi is clearly the Kuudere type though he’s just a cocky comment and snobby laugh away from being Oujidere.”
 “Baby girl, I understood maybe half of that sentence.”
 “Furuhashi seems very cold and distant but from his random outbursts I know he sees himself as very high and princely. Got that stereotypical rich kid backstory to book. Yamazaki is probably the closest I would get to deredere bad boy, he’s usually the most upbeat out of yall though he’s probably just loud as opposed to cheerful.”
 “Okay I can see those.”
 “You are getting crazy possessive, so I’d say Yandere.”
 “I’ll stab the next person who asks you for a dance.” Hara whispered jokingly only to roll his eyes. “Come on I’m not a yandere!”
 “Fine you’re the lewd type then!”
 “I’ll take that. What’s Seto?”
 “Hmm I can’t say I know him well enough to have decided that yet.”
 “Caps is tsundere all the way. I don’t even need to watch anime to know what that means and that it fits him perfectly. That or maybe he’s just an asshole.”
 (Y/N) smiled as the song ended and she made her way back to the table her team had been sitting at. Hanamiya was on his phone seemingly disinterested in everything while Seto was trying his hardest to ignore the girl chatting in front of him.
 Out on the dance floor Yamazaki had been asked to dance and seemed to be having a good time. And they’d all been surprised to find Furuhashi’s fiancé in attendance. (Y/N) smiled as her friend gave Yui a kind look and spun her gently to the tune of the new song.
 Approaching the table, the girl chatting up Seto instantly grated on (Y/N)’s ears.
 “Hey come on! Are you Young-Mi’s other son? I met your brother before! You know you look nothing like your parents but I recognize the name, Seto! I heard your mom has some big plans ahead any ideas what those are?”
 Seto looked totally uncomfortable as the girl rattled off questions about his parents. (Y/N) wrinkled her nose at the girl, was she the daughter of a tabloid publisher or something? Hanamiya seemed annoyed as well yet not half as likely to step in and help his teammate out.
 “Why don’t you come dance with me? We can talk out on the floor! Get to know me because I’d really really love to get to know someone like you.” The girl said pressing her chest into Seto’s arm only making the male cringe away from her touch.
 “Kentaro!” (Y/N) called out flouncing to her friend. Coming up behind him she smoothly slid her arms around his neck before kissing his cheek softly. “Are you making new friends, love? Hi, (Y/N) (L/N)”
 The talkative girl looked at (Y/N)’s extended hand in disgust but shook it anyway.
 “And who are you exactly?” The girl said looking down on her.
 “I believe I just told you, I’m (Y/N) (L/N). Kentaro’s special friend.” (Y/N) said running her thin fingers through the male’s hair. She was happy that he wasn’t uncomfortable with her being up on him but instead seemed rather content.
 “I meant who’s your family, what are you connections.”
 “Tsk tsk it’s rude to ask something like that before you’ve even given me your name.”
 “Ito Hatsune. My father is a tv personality for Hito Ito.”
 “Hito Ito? The Japanese TMZ knock off? Trying to get a scoop for daddy? I’m afraid you’ll turn up with nothing here. My love and his family try and stay scandal free, right Ken?”
 Seto tried to nod but practically shivered at the way his name rolled off (Y/N)’s lips.
 “How boring. She didn’t even put up a fight.” (Y/N) huffed as Hatsune turned on her heels and walked away quickly. Removing herself from Seto’s side she threw herself down in the seat beside him. “Sorry I was in your personal space, you looked uncomfortable and I figured that was the easiest way to make her go away.”
 “No, thank you. I appreciate it.”
 (Y/N) smiled brightly before her eyes flowed to Hanamiya who was still scrolling through shit on his phone. Now that she knew this wasn’t his world, she understood why he was withdrawing. He had no connections to make, no company to speak of. Had he not been a super intelligent basketball prodigy he wouldn’t even be here.
 Beautiful violins swelled in the background and the young girl perked up immediately at the tune. Turning to try and find her dance partner she huffed as he was off dancing with a cute brown-haired girl.
 “Seto, come dance this song with me.”
 “I honestly cannot dance. Like at all. Sorry (Y/N) I would but that’s a type of embarrassment I don’t need.”
 Pouting the girl turned to look at Hanamiya.
 “No.” He said not even looking up.
 “I didn’t even know you were listening! How did you know I was gonna ask you?”
 “Because I’m not an idiot.”
 “Please Hanamiya, it’s such a pretty song!”
 “What? Do you speak French?”
 “Uhh no.”
 “Then you don’t even know what the song is about. It’s not some cute heart-touching ballad.”
 “Then come translate it for me while we dance!” (Y/N) said getting up and standing in front of him extending her hand out. He looked from her palm to her face and realized she wasn’t gonna give it up.
 “Fine, just this song.”
 The girl smiled as Hanamiya lead her out of his team’s sight, to a more private corner of the dance floor. (Y/N) placed one hand on the tall male’s shoulder and locked her other with his firmly. She almost shivered as his cold palm pressed flat onto her exposed back.
 “I admit I went through hell, didn’t I my love? Before I met you, my love.” Hanamiya whispered to her in a quiet voice.
 “What?” The girl asked completely baffled by the male addressing her that way.
 “Those are the lyrics, idiot. ‘Whether it pleases you or not in dancing the Javanaise.’” Hanamiya said, cutting through his own sentence with another translation. The pair swayed and (Y/N) watched him mumble the lyrics perfectly.
 “I never knew you spoke French.”
 “I speak several languages.”
 “That’s incredible.”
 “Not really, languages are easy. It’s just speaking, nothing difficult. ‘In your opinion what have we seen of love? From you to me. You really had me going, my love.’ Besides you speak two languages, don’t you?”
 “Yeah but it was a bitch to learn Japanese and I had full on immersion learning. You’ve apparently just learned these on your own. Hmmm ‘You really had me going, my love’ that’s a heavy lyric, isn’t it?”
 “I told you it wasn’t a love song. ‘Alas, April in vain dedicates me to love. I wanted to see that love in you, my love. Whether it pleases you or not.’ Yet everyone is dancing to it as if it is.”
 “I disagree. Unrequited love is still love. You still feel it just as strong no?”
 “I wouldn’t know. It’s a bullshit concept honestly. If you isolated the right chemical you could technically bottle ‘love’ and sell it as something people inject right into their veins.”
 “You’re so smart but I think that’s why you’re so miserable.”
 “I’m not miserable.”
 “But you are. You don’t let yourself enjoy anything in life because you have to be so analytical of it. Look at everyone else just dancing and enjoying the music but you overthink the chemical process of love and the psychological implications of unrequited love. Anyone else would just enjoy a slow dance with a cute girl.”
 “Oh really? And pray tell who said you were cute?”
 “I believe the word you used was ‘hot’ no?”
 Hanamiya scoffed, tensing up at the way the girl was trying to read him. He was one dimensional to most people. He was an asshole and nobody ever tried to see beyond that…he wanted to keep it that way.
 “I know you’re not the actual airhead you pretend to be. But I’m smarter than you, remember that and know that you will never figure me out. I can see it in your face that you think you know me but you don’t.”
 “You’re right but I’d like to. You’ve told me so very little about you. One particular thing comes to mind…why do you play basketball?”
 “Really? Of all the things you could have asked, you ask that one?”
 “I want to know. It’s not weird to want to know why someone does something that they invest so much time into. Why basketball? You’re so intelligent you could play an instrument, or shogi/chess, hell even another sport might have utilized your brain more so why this?”
 “For exactly that reason. All of those things were so intelligence based that they came to me so easily. There was no effort in it. I could have chosen to do any of those things and would have been a GOM level prodigy at it but then it would have gotten old really fast. Intelligence could only get me so far in basketball if I didn’t have the physical skills to back it up. I had to actually work my ass off to be good, to reach the level that I did. Basketball isn’t boring to me. It’s probably one of the only things that make me happy.”
 (Y/N) took in the honesty of that answer and let it stew in her brain. It made sense, he was basically Aomine but with intellect. Everything around him was just numbers and facts, it seemed almost sad to live in a world with no magic, no feelings.
 “Life is not worth living without love. But you are the one who wanted it that way, my love.”
 “You don’t have to want it that way.”
 “I’m just telling you the lyrics.”
 “I know. But I can tell you have a lot more inside you than just smarts. You have some feelings you can’t process with facts and it bothers you. You don’t have to go through everything on your own. Maybe it doesn’t seem logical to you but other might get it. You’ve helped me more than you realize and I’d do anything to repay you, remember that.”
 “Whether it pleases you or not, in dancing the Javanaise.” Hanamiya ignored her and continued translating, he looked up at her and she could barely hear the final lyric. “We loved each other for the length of a song.”
 As the instruments decrescendo off into nothing Hanamiya is left staring down into the eyes of a girl who he can feel staring right through him. She knows something and he doesn’t like that.
 “Oww.” (Y/N) murmured, arching her back and pressing her body into his slightly.
 Suddenly taking notice, Hanamiya withdrew his hand from her back. Unconsciously his grip on her had grown way too tight and even his nails were biting into her flesh. Almost as if a switch was flipped the male’s expression grew angry and he resisted the urge to push her away from him.
 She watched as he scowled and stormed back to his seat. The girl deflated at the events. It was always 1 step forward 2 steps back with him and she didn’t know what she was doing wrong. She hadn’t even said anything this time.
 “Well I’d heard Kirisaki Daiichi had gotten a new manager. You seem to be holding your own well with them.”
 (Y/N) turned to come face to face with none other than Akashi Seijuro. In trying to make connections, she found out quickly that he was the one to know. They’d only briefly spoken a number of times at events like this and also because his father did business with some people very close to her.
 “Akashi-san, how nice to see you.” (Y/N) bowed her torso at him and his own teammates behind him.
 “Come now, you weren’t nearly so formal with anyone else here.” The magenta haired male hooked a finger under her chin and lifted her face up to look her in the eye.
 “Woah! Who the hell are you!?” Hara’s voice suddenly echoed in (Y/N)’s ear as he strolled up beside her. The rest of the team including Hanamiya were not far behind. “Hands off!”
 “Akashi Seijuro, and you are Hara Kazuya correct? Second son of the Hara Hotel empire. I must say (Y/N) makeup and hotels don’t really mix, now do they? Not a very wise business move.”
 “Kazuya and I aren’t dating.”
 “And what does makeup have to do with anything?” Hara snapped.
 “Hmm they don’t know?” Akashi asked with a small smirk on his face. He knew they didn’t. “(Y/N)’s the hei-”
 “I work for New Face, you know, that really popular makeup brand. I’m nothing more than a wholesale associate, I get stores to carry the product that’s all.”
 “Why didn’t you want us to know that?” Furuhashi asked, almost not believing everything and believing she was purposely withholding information.
 “Because none of you guys work in that sense. I didn’t want you to look down on me.” (Y/N) was stammering a bit before a very tall and attractive looking man stepped forward and gently tilted her chin back and forth.
 “I love your highlight, it’s so natural. Is it New Face?”
 “Oh no, this is a new brand I thought I’d try out.” The girl said awkwardly as the feminine male studied her entire makeup look closely.
 “You really should show me before the night is over! I’m Reo, by the way.”
 (Y/N) shook hands and instantly felt a little insecure. This guy had really nice hands and was prettier than she was.
 “So, are you a boy or a girl?” Hara asked rudely causing (Y/N) to slam her elbow into his ribcage.
 “Ha! She’s got fire, I like that. And to answer your question my dear lavender blossom, I am an experience.” Reo said flipping his perfect hair. The gorgeous male pirouetted away to the rest of his team, sitting at their own table.
 “Now, if you’ll excuse us, I believe I was having a conversation with (Y/N). Can I have a minute alone with her?” Akashi’s voice came out smoothly as he waved a hand to shoo off the KiriDai boys.
 “With my manager? Hell no.” Hanamiya said, instantly not liking the attitude this guy had. He’d played him before in middle school and even though he was a hell of a lot creepier then, this shit wasn’t gonna fly. He tugged the girl’s arm and pulled her into his chest.
 “Oh come now. I love getting to know all the members of the elite teams. I might have had the chance to speak with her during the Winter Cup if your team had made it that far.”
 “Oh shit.” Seto mumbled, knowing full well there was about to be a blood war between the two god-complex males.
 “Yeah you didn’t exactly win that tournament either and you actually care about that shit. You got beaten by the same team that beat us, so I don’t believe you have room to talk.”
 “Our team would wipe the floor with your rich boy asses!” Hara exclaimed blowing a large bubble.
 “Aren’t we just a bunch of rich kids too?” Yamazaki said with a metaphorical sweat drop on his head.
 “Is that truly what you believe? Well how about we test out that theory. One Gom and three Uncrowned Kings against a team that I hear, doesn’t utilize the only tactic they had to win anymore.”
~~~~~
 “Ooo! Damn!” (Y/N) shouted out as Hara fell on his ass while Akashi rushed past him. “Cross him up!”
 “Who the hell are you cheering for?!” The teen yelled at his friend.
 “The only dude out on the court breaking ankles! Woo!” She cheered again as the game grew even more heated.
 Seto smiled at the girl who was obviously enjoying herself.
 “It’s not easy bitch!” Hara cursed as he rubbed his tailbone. “I’m not exactly used to playing in dress shoes and slacks.”
 “Sounds like an excuse TO slack!”
 “His Emperor Eye is pretty impressive, isn’t it?” Seto asked the girl sitting beside him on the park bench. He watched the girl wrinkle her nose slightly as she mulled it something over.
 “I mean he’s really amazing at basketball but why the weird names for their ‘special moves’. Like he’s crossing people, not using a Pokemon attack.”
 Without intention Seto let out a booming laugh that even caught (Y/N) off guard. She smiled as the male hid his grin behind a large hand as laughter trickled off into chuckles.
 (Y/N) felt herself smile as the boy beside her was slowly beginning to open up more. He was usually fairly quiet and the last time they really spoke in depth was when they sang together during the cultural festival.
 The girl was snapped out of her thoughts as Reo caught her eye and beckoned her towards him with a long delicate finger. Totally captivated by the young man, she navigated her way carefully across the park court.
 Reo patted the bench next to him and (Y/N) sat quickly.
 “So, now that we have some time where did you get that makeup from? Not just the highlighter but the lipstick and eyeliner too!”
 “It’s a new brand that just launched, ‘Me but Better’.”
 “I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of it.”
 “Well so far only one store in Japan carries it but-”
 “What the fuck!”
 (Y/N) spun around quickly, startled by the angry voice of her captain. She was expecting him to be scowling at one of the Rakuzan boys but instead he was storming right up to her with her own phone in his hands.
 “What the hell is this!?”
 “My phone…what happened?”
 “Your phone rang and guess who’s fucking calling?!” Hanamiya shouted, getting much closer to the girl in a threatening manner.
 “Ryo? Shoichi? Umm…”
 “My mother!” Hanamiya’s voice practically roared as he threw the phone to the ground. “What in the actual fuck do you think you’re doing talking to her?!”
 “I just…why did you grab my phone?” The young woman sputtered not knowing how to answer him.
 “Why did I grab your phone?! Is that really all you have to fucking say!? So what have you been telling her? About that time I nearly choked you or about how I broke someone’s leg?”
 “No, I haven’t told her anything she didn’t already know.”
 “That she didn’t already know? That’s such fucking bullshit! I should have known you were messing around in my business when I got that call from YOUR boyfriend telling me if I didn’t play nice for you that he would go and find my mother and tell her all this shit I’ve been keeping from her!”
 “No…that doesn’t make any sense! I didn’t tell him to do that, I don’t even know how he would have your number! And nobody needs to tell her anything! She’s not stupid, she knows all about you and basketball and Kiyoshi!”
 Hanamiya looked as if he was about to explode before he let out a small almost chuckling sound.
 “You remember you saying you’d do anything to repay me right? You can stay the fuck away from me from now on.” The dark-haired male brought his foot down on the girl’s cellphone smashing it into an unusable mess.
 (Y/N) winced but barely allowed the man to storm off the court before she too was on her feet. She was about to run after him but Hara stood in front of her quickly.
 “You were actually talking to his mom? We’ve known him for years and we’ve never even seen her.” Yamazaki said looking very concerned.
 “It’s not like I tried to find her! Furu and I ran into her at the mall the day he got engaged!”
 “You never told me that.” Furuhashi stated firmly, not wanting to get tangled into the predicament.
 “She asked me to meet her! What was I supposed to do?”
 “Tell her no.” Seto said running a hand through his hair. “You didn’t have to agree to meet up with her, you could have told her you didn’t feel comfortable talking about him.”
 (Y/N) blinked a few times. She knew that she came in hard on the defense, ready to blame his mother for something that her own curiosity had led her to agree in the first place.
 “I just…he’s always so miserable. I thought if I knew why then I could-”
 “Well you can’t, so just stop while you’re ahead.” Seto replied firmly.
 “But I…” (Y/N) began to think about the explosion that was sure to go off when Hanamiya finally got home. From what she’d gathered, his mother would be quite frightened and if she was being honest…she wasn’t sure what her captain was capable of. “I can’t just let this happen. I can’t let anything bad happen between them because of me! I don’t want to be a burden on his life!”
 “Do you know where he lives?” Reo’s voice suddenly came up behind her as he placed both hands on her shoulders firmly.
 “Yes, his mother gave me their address when we met up.”
 “I have my car with me, I’ll take you.”
 “No, you won’t.” Furu said pulling (Y/N) by the wrist firmly. “Just leave it alone.”
 “I can’t! I don’t know what will happen! What if he gets really mad, or she kick him out or some other bullshit and I just ruin their lives!?”
 “What’s done is done!” Hara snapped out at the girl.
 (Y/N)’s body shook and when two tears cascaded down her face the boys knew they should have said something different.
 What they should have said was she wouldn’t ruin their lives. What they told her…
 “No…you’re wrong. I can’t accept that I can’t change things! I won’t accept having no control in what I’ve done to someone else’s life! …. You can’t stop me.”
 And they didn’t.
~~~~~
 “Seriously! Haven’t you done enough!?” Hanamiya screamed out as the girl raced up the steps of his apartment complex and called out to him.
 “Please! I never meant any harm, I just wanted to help your mom.”
 “Help? Help her with what?!” Hanamiya practically barked out at her. “What you think you have to fucking save her from me!? Huh?! You think I’m gonna hurt her!?”
 (Y/N) cowered back in fear, as her captain got in her face.
 “The only one that’s going to be hurt is you, if you don’t get the fuck out of here!”
 While the girl wanted to call his bluff, she also knew when he was angry his violence didn’t discriminate. Still, despite herself, she needed to get out of the corner she’d backed herself into. With as much force as she could she attempted to push him away from her. His body nearly got thrown off balance before he grabbed her wrist tightly.
 “Stop! Makoto, please!” Both teens turned their heads to see the male’s distressed mother opening the apartment door and rushing outside.
 Though the small woman was shaking she forced her body between the two and stared up at her son in timid defiance. She took the girl’s hand from his grasp and held it gently, trying to comfort her.
 Hanamiya took in the way she held the girl closely and the way she looked at her with such care in her eyes. His own hand hung limply at his side and before he could help himself a tear ran down his face.
 “Why…why are you defending her? She’s not your daughter…You’re not her mother!”
 Mrs. Hanamiya was stunned by the hurt look on her son’s face. She hadn’t seen him cry in years. Even with as vulnerable as he looked right now the second, he took a step towards the two women, she instantly jerked back.
 “I think I should just go.” (Y/N) mumbled, seeing a side to Makoto she wasn’t ready for.
 “Oh now you think you can just go?” The male said, moving to block the stairwell. “You wanna be in my business and leave when things get a little tense?!”
 “I never meant to-”
 “It was all me! I burdened her to meet up with me. Please, let’s talk about this.”
 “Talk about this!? You should have wanted to talk with me about this before talking to her! I barely met her, what the hell could she possibly know about me?!”
 “You…you always spoke so highly of her compared to others. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were particularly fond of her. I figured, if she was able to get close to you, if you had feelings for someone like her then maybe-”
 “Maybe what?”
 Hanamiya waited for his mother to answer but he knew she wouldn’t continue.
 “Maybe it meant that I wasn’t a lost cause? That I was capable of human emotion? That I’m not some goddamn monster!?”
 “I don’t think you’re a monster.”
 “Then why!?” The male screamed out, probably startling the entire apartment complex. “Why have you always looked so terrified of me!? Why did you always flinch away from me when I never did a single thing to you!?”
 (Y/N) felt the cold air whip around her as the night breeze began to pick up. She wished she hadn’t told Reo to go home. She wished she hadn’t come here. She wished she’d never gotten involved.
 “Its just because you’re so big and intimida-”
 “No, that’s bullshit! I remember everything! Even when I was small and I came running to you, you’d move away. I’d try to hug you and you’d push me back. You would only show me affection when you wanted…So what is it about me?” Makoto now had streams of tears coming from his eyes, not caring that (Y/N) was seeing. “You always told me you just weren’t the physically affectionate type. But if that’s so…why does she get to touch you? Why are you so afraid of me?”
 (Y/N), only now, realized how she and her were clinging onto each other for support.
 “You just…if you can remember that surely you can remember all the fights you got into as a child! All the times I had to pull you off some other kid in the park. It’s like violence was engrained in you and you know how your father was. I was just so afraid that you wou-”
 “My father…so because my father was a piece of shit, I wasn’t allowed to make mistakes!? I was a little boy and you always treated me like I did something wrong. You were the only person I had in this entire world and you were never on my side. You always thought the worst of me. It didn’t matter what I did. I could get the best grades, be a sports prodigy, get into some rich kid school and for what? You still only see me as your bastard that trapped you with that asshole for three years.”
 Mrs. Hanamiya finally released the girl’s hands and took a tentative step towards her son. His tears were heartbreaking, and she would have given anything in that moment to have done things differently.
 “That’s not true. You have always been the light of my life and you were the only good I ever got from that man. I’ve never had anything and I’ve always done wrong, including how I raised you but sweetie…you’re my best thing. Having you was the only thing I ever did right.”
 Hanamiya lifted a hand to wipe at his face only to catch the flinch in his mother’s face. Lowering his hand once more, he knew that all the kind words she was saying meant nothing. Because it was in his nature, in his fate, in his blood.
 “You still…you still see me just like him. Did you know when I was ten, I went to find my dad? I wanted to know if I really was like him. Did you know he’s in prison?” Mrs. Hanamiya’s breath caught in her throat. “For sexual assault.”
 (Y/N) felt her heart drop into her stomach. Mrs. Hanamiya hadn’t told her anything of the sort but she and her captain were thinking the same thing.
 “Did he…? Am I just some constant reminder of this horrible thing that happened to you? Is that why you hate me?! Is that all I’m destined to be in your eyes?”
 “No! I don’t know what that man did once I left. But I loved your father, our relationship was abusive but not…that. And Makoto, I love you.”
 “But you don’t like me.”
 Hanamiya let the whistling wind be the only noise between the three for a while. His mother averted her eyes and he knew why. He’d hit the nail on the head with everything. His own mother didn’t like him. She never answered him on her perception of his destiny. And her unwillingness to answer was the loudest response he could have received.
 What had only been sorrow turned to anger quickly.
 “So he was abusive? You knew it and you stayed with him?”
 “For you!”
 “Yeah…and that’s why people like you make me sick. Fucking martyrs, putting their own well-being on the line for others. And for what? To come to resent the very people they were protecting? To lord their pain over them for years? I didn’t ask you to stay with him! I didn’t ask to be born! If you knew your life was falling to shit, you should have done the responsible thing and just had an abortion, instead of ruining yours and my life!”
 (Y/N) gasped at that comment and with a quick turn of her head placed both hands over her mouth. Tears streamed down her own face and she shook thoughts from her head. Glancing over at Mrs. Hanamiya she saw the woman’s shoulders shaking in sobs.
 “I’m so sorry. I’m sorry you would rather have not existed than to have me as a mother. Nothing has been your fault and I’m sorry I couldn’t treat you the way I should have.”
 With that the woman fled down the stairs quickly. Both teens were stunned at her quick escape. Makoto whipped his head around and watched her make her way down the street.
 “Shit, it’s dark and she shouldn’t be out by herself right now. What the fuck is she thinking?” He said to himself as he turned towards the staircase.
 (Y/N) grabbed his wrist quickly and gave a gentle tug.
 “No, wait. I think she needs this time to think on her own. Just give her a little time, I know things will be fine.”
 “You know? What the fuck do you think you know about my neighbourhood? Maybe taking a stroll around your private estate at night is perfectly safe but it isn’t always that way here, okay?”
 “Hanamiya.” The girl pleaded once more now standing between him and the stairs, her grip still on his wrist. “Believe it or not I understand, everything.”
 “How could you even begin to understand? Look just call your personal driver and have him take your spoiled privileged ass home.” He snapped attempting to push past her.
 “I can’t d-”
 “Let go!”
 “NO!”
 (Y/N) felt Hanamiya jerk her arm up to get her to release his hand. He was successful in his attempt, but the motion had the girl off balance. Still in her heels from earlier, there was no hope of steadying herself.
 The staircase seemed much higher as each stepped cracked into some part of her body. One area alone didn’t have time to process the pain before another felt it too.
 And just when it should have been over and the steps should have ended, her head came into contact with the cement at the bottom.
 She could hear quick footsteps down the staircase and then nothing.

My Harem is Entirely Bad Boy Types (Kirisaki Daiichi x Reader) Pt. 5
Chapter 5: Is This Seriously Her Type?!
 “Would you stop already?” Hanamiya breathed out in a huff as he wiped the sweat from his brow.
 “What the hell? Stop what?” (Y/N) asked throwing her hands up in the air.
 “Stop flaunting yourself around like that! Yosen’s team is going to be here and I don’t need them all over you.”
(Y/N) crossed her arms under her chest and turned away stubbornly.
 “Like hell am I gonna let you tell me what to wear! Besides you told me I need to wear the Kiridai colours during matches but yet didn’t want me in one of your jerseys so what was I supposed to do?”
 “Probably not go out and get a cheerleading outfit.” Hara said looking her up and down for the 100th time already,
 “It’s not a cheerleader outfit! It’s a jersey that actually fits me and a matching skirt! Which reminds me, I got this made too!” (Y/N) unhooked Mako from her back and taking him out of his sling the team saw his own little uniform. It was impractical but surprisingly cute of her.
 “When the hell is that stupid project of yours over? It doesn’t really make much sense, Japan has one of the lowest rates of teen pregnancy.” Seto rambled on as he worked on his handles.
 “Once the new school year starts in April.”
 “Ugh don’t even talk about it! She gets weirdly emotional when you mention it!” Hara exclaimed, taking a break from practicing lay-ups.
 “We’ve had him for so long! How could you not have gotten attached?!”
 While those two bickered like an old married couple Hanamiya’s ears perked up at the sound of arguing right outside the gym doors.
 “She’s never going to love you like I did!”
 “Good! I don’t want anyone to love me like you! Because you only love me when it’s convenient for you! You only love me when I’ve stopped loving you back! I’m done running in circles with you, Mei!”
 “You don’t even know her! You think because of that team you play with that you know real manipulation, you think you got her right where you want her but it’s the other way around! And I will prove it to you!”
 That last sentence was high and loud enough to carry across the gym into the three previously unaware sets of ears.
 Before they could react, Yamazaki came stomping into the gym, slamming the door behind him.
 “Fucking bitch!” He called out in frustration before loosening his tie, tossing his school jacket to the side and marching into the locker room to change.
 “Is Yamazaki okay?” (Y/N) asked, suddenly very concerned.
 “Yeah, it’s just his psycho bitch of an ex.” Hanamiya commented with a sigh, not prepared to deal with the fuckery he knew that girl would cause.
 “Was she that bad?”
 “She was the worst.” Hara said lowkey adjusting the uniform on his baby. “I’ve known Zaki since elementary school, he’d never been a push ever. But during our first year at KiriDai, he started dating Mei and he would just let her walk all over him. It was honestly pathetic. When Caps started looking seriously into forming a good team I thought being in basketball would be pretty cool so I invited Zaki to try out with me. Figured it would give him some independence from her.”
 “And that one stupid decision nearly got both your asses kicked off the team.” Seto reminded, feeling a headache come on from the sheer memory.
 “Everyday we’d have to hear her either fawning over him or on us for working him too hard. We had to make a rule of nobody off team being allowed in the gym during practice without prior approval.” Hanamiya said aiming to take a shot before looking into (Y/N)’s eyes deeply. “In fact, you were the first one to break that rule.”
 (Y/N) blinked at her captain’s words. When she first showed up months ago she wasn’t entirely sure why Hara was so against her being seen by Hanamiya. She unknowingly, could have landed him in some trouble with his team.
 What was most present in her mind right now was the sheer fact of how easy it was to join. Any issues she’d had were with her boyfriend, not the guys and surprisingly not Hanamiya. Sure, he’d pulled his bullshit on her but only for a moment before he came to invite her to be a part of his team. Knowing what she knew now on top of everything else, there’s no way it should have been so simple.
 “She would break up with him as a manipulation thing, which is no doubt why you caught his attention to quickly. He can relate.” Hara said scoring a three-point shot. “The last time they broke up she said she wanted to find someone better. I guess she didn’t and now she’s angry that he might have.”
 “Might have what?”
 “Found someone better.”
 “…What, you don’t mean me, do you?”
 “Believe it or not but Zaki has been after you for months.”
 “Yeah I know. I just don’t necessarily see myself as ‘someone better’.”
 “Wait wait wait, you know?” Seto asked with a surprised look on his face.
 “Of course, I do! What, you think I’m some kind of oblivious idiot?”
 “Then you know why she threw her milk on you that one time right?”
 “…That was her?”
 “Yup and clearly she sees you as the thing that’s keeping Yamazaki from taking her back. Whatever you had going on with her in middle school is only ten times worse now.” Hanamiya said checking the time on the gym clock.
 “Maybe if you finally moved on and started dating someone else you would prove to her you were no threat.” Hara said coming up behind her placing a large hand on her hip, the other playing with the hem of her skirt. “Or we can pretend? Have some fun?”
 (Y/N) paid him no mind, even ignoring his touch creeping to inch up her skirt. She appeared deep in thought for a moment only to finally give her signature bright smile.
 “You’re right! I should try to start dating again! Actually dating, not whatever is going through your little perverted mind.” (Y/N) teased, smirking to herself as Hara finally took her silence as an okay and finally ran his hand up her thigh.
 “You and these goddamn shorts!” He said watching the girl jump as an audible slap of his hand against her thigh echoed through the gym.
 “Seriously? Hara stop harassing the poor girl.” Hanamiya sighed rubbing at his temples.
 “Should we come back at another time?” A rather tall Chinese guy said taking in the image of Hara with his hands practically all the way up (Y/N)’s backside.
 (Y/N) noticed the male’s Yosen jacket right away and suddenly remembered something very important. Slapping Hara’s hands away with a red face, the girl walked up to Hanamiya with a concerned look on her face.
 “Captain, Furuhashi never showed up.”
 Glancing at his phone, Hanamiya looked concerned for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.
 “We’ll deal with him later, besides it’s just a scrimmage. We’re gonna go ahead and let the second string play this one.”
 Out of the corner of her eye (Y/N) saw the rest of Yosen’s team come striding in. Instantly her eyes practically sparkled at the sight before her.
 “Sorry, but our coach wanted me to let you know she would be unable to make it today.” A black-haired boy with a beauty mark under his eye, said with a polite smile.
 “Hello, handsome.” (Y/N) mumbled under her breath, straightening out her hair and skirt before walking in an almost trance-like state towards the team.
 The members of Yosen groaned at yet another fangirl falling head over heels for Himuro. It happened all the time but it didn’t mean they were any less annoyed by it at this point.
 Himuro felt a small hand touch his shoulder gently and was prepared to give a polite decline only to be surprised at the force of her moving him out of the way.
 “Excuse me.”
 Both teams’ members had their jaws drop as she walked practically through Himuro to get to none other than Okamura. The gorilla of a man stood there with a frozen confused face.
 (Y/N) smiled at him sweetly before tugging on the bottom of his jacket.
 “Your legs must be so tired.” She commented sweetly fidgeting with his jacket zipper.
“Umm why would they be?”
 “Because you’ve been running through my mind all day!”
 “W-what!?”
 “I’ll be your Yamato if you’ll be my Takeo and we can make this OUR Love Story!” (Y/N) said suddenly wrapping her arms around the tall male’s waist. His face grew insanely red and his entire body began to tremble.
 “Now that’s just mean!” Fukui laughed as he saw the disbelief and almost hopeful look in his captain’s eyes. “We’d heard that KiriDai had a girl on their team and we figured she’d have to be a bit of a bitch. But come on, you didn’t have to bust out this manipulation on the poor guy. He’s not really even captain anymore.”
 “She’s not a bitch just an idiot otaku. (Y/N), get off the guy!” Hanamiya tried to call off the lovestruck girl, shooting Hara a glare for ever suggesting the girl try dating.
 “No, no she’s fine!” Okamura called out immediately placing his large hands gently on her shoulders. “So uhh your name’s (Y/N)? That’s really beautiful.”
 “Hmmm? Why is that girl squeezing Okamura?” A lazy childish voice came into the gym.
 (Y/N) turned her attention away from the apple of her eye only for her jaw to drop. Sure, she’d more or less known of each member of the generation and while she had seen most of them play a game, having this one so close was a whole different ballgame.
 “I don’t know what you guys are feeding him, but he is too damn big!”
 She had since let go of Okamura and was staring at Murasakibara in awe. He was annoyed pretty quickly at both her intense staring and the freakshow treatment he was receiving.
 “Alright, enough harassing the opposite team.” Hara said attempting to drag his friend back to the bleachers.
 Now focusing on the actual basketball players, one thing caught their entire team’s attention. And that was a small child being held delicately in the lilac male’s hands.
 “One of you has a kid? I guess that’s not surprising for the personality type but isn’t this like a prestigious school or something?” Fukui asked trying to get a better peek at the infant.
 “Would it perhaps be why the team suddenly added a female manager?” Liu pondered aloud.
 “I, for one, believe I would make a great stepdad! We wouldn’t even have to tell anyone I wasn’t the father!” Okamura said quickly which earned an almost pained expression from (Y/N). That look quickly vanished and with a sigh she gave a genuine looking smile.
 “Mako is a project of mine. He’s a doll! So, maybe not a stepfather…but you can definitely be my daddy-”
 “Ugh that guy can’t seriously be your type, can he?” Seto interrupted with a look of disbelief on his face.
 “Be nice!” (Y/N) scolded with a pout.
 “Besides, should you of all people be judging someone by their looks?” Yamazaki retorted finally emerging from the locker room, looking like he’d blown off all the steam he needed.
“Ouch, Zaki what’s the damage?” Hara asked casually slinging an arm over (Y/N)’s shoulder, not so casually asserting his dominance over the opposing team.
 “It’s just been a bad day, are we gonna play or what?”
 “Or what, it would seem. Furu isn’t here and none of us can get to him so we’re going to let the first year’s play. Matsumoto, you lead them okay?” Hanamiya called out to a group of rather surprised looking boys.
 “We definitely don’t need to be adding in our aces either.” Himuro said thinking more to himself than speaking to anyone. “I suppose we will throw in a few of our first years to play.
 “Can I still have the food you brought for the team?” Yamazaki asked (Y/N), already rifling through her bag.
 “Swear, I’m just a mobile food pantry for you guys. Fine, I suppose my children can come get their after-school snacks.” (Y/N) mocked, taking the bag away from her friend and pushing past the healthy sports food for the junk food she had hidden all the way to the bottom.
 As she handed them out to both her first- and second-string team, she was suddenly aware of a looming presence hovering over her shoulder. Turning around she came face to torso with none other than Yosen’s ace.
 He wasn’t saying much of anything just sort of hanging around her awkwardly. One arm hung limply at his side and the other was balancing a horde of his own snacks. His stare was more yearning than it was expectant and (Y/N) smiled to herself a bit.
 Aomine never really talked much about his Teiko team except to talk shit. So, if there was anything she knew about Murasakibara it was that he was childish, none too bright, and loved nothing more than to eat.
 Reaching deeply into the bag she produced a bag of limited edition flavoured chips and handed them off to him. He seemed genuinely surprised and almost didn’t even lift a hand to grab them at first, sure she would tug them out of his grasp as soon as he tried.
 She jiggled the bag at him almost like an owner calling a cat for supper. And just like a feline, the tall male pounced at his opportunity for more snacks.
 Flipping the bag over and over in his hands he was relieved to see they were normal junkfood chips and not the healthy crap his team tried getting him to eat before the game. He didn’t care what they said, baked chips were NOT the same as normal fried ones. The girl smiled at him and was about to turn away before he grabbed her wrist.
 “Who sent you?” He asked in a serious tone, causing (Y/N) to look on in confusion. “Was it God? Did God send you with snacks?”
 “Alright Atsushi-kun, let’s go sit on our side of the bleachers.” Himuro urged the tall male along murmuring apologies to the bewildered girl.
 “Muro-chin who is she?”
 “She’s Kirisaki Daiichi’s manager. Now eat your chips.”
 “I want a manager.” The male stated before popping open his bag.
 “Wow there’s actually chips in the bag! I thought she’d have filled it with spiders or something!” Fukui exclaimed watching his tall teammate lift one to his mouth.
 “These are the best chips I’ve ever eaten in my entire life.”
 “I want to try one!” The ash-blonde exclaimed ready to grab one, only to have the bag suddenly held feet over his head.
 “Touch them and you’ll lose a finger.”
~~~~~
 “This turned out to be a fairly interesting game.” Himuro panted as he spoke to Hanamiya who simply nodded in response.
 As it turned out KiriDai’s second string had gotten much better and were not only holding their own but actually winning against Yosen. Of course, as this continued Yosen started subbing in some of their first string players and KiriDai followed suit.
 All having been somewhat surprised when Hanamiya instructed them not to bother wasting their energy with foul play. Still they could follow orders and the game had been surprisingly clean, save for some vulgar language from KiriDai.
 “Alright everyone, body checks! Do we have any cuts and bruises? Broken limbs? Internal bleeding?” Fukui called out to everyone who played the game which only earned him a few death glares from the opposing team. “Oh come on! You guys are known for that kind of thing. I’m surprised we were able to play a normal game.”
 “Yeah well we didn’t need any tricks to beat you.” Hara said chugging a water bottle.
 “Only by one point and we had a few players unavailable.” Liu motioned towards Okamura who had all his attention focused on (Y/N) giving him attention.
 Murasakibara was on the other side of the girl, pouting. He’d taken it pretty hard that Hanamiya wasn’t willing to “give him” (Y/N) to take back to Yosen with him.
 “Good game.” Himuro complimented the team again. “I look forward to playing an actual game with you really soon. Come on Atsushi. Okamura, we need to head back.
 “Ne Muro-chin ask the one with the eyebrows again.” Murasakibara said pushing Himuro towards the team coach, ignoring the look of wrath on Hanamiya’s face.
 “(Y/N) doesn’t belong to him. We can’t just force her to come to Yosen. When we get back, we’ll look into getting a manager okay?”
 “I don’t want any manager, I want this one. She gets me!”
 (Y/N) laughed as they dragged the tall male out of the gym before turning back to Okamura. Smiling at him she held out her hand and he looked at it questioningly.
 “Give me your phone and I can give you my number! Call me once you get back to Akita. I would really like to go out with you sometime. Maybe I can make my way out there.”
 “W-what? You mean you still want to talk to me after today?” Okamura asked genuinely surprised, he figured she was more or less just jerking him around for fun and was sadly fine with that.
 “Of course!” The girl smiled widely not missing the scowling and disgusted faces of some of her teammates. She waved at the tall man as he followed his team out of the gym.
 “Hey girl, I told you to start dating someone not just anyone!” Hara said slinging his arm around her waist, fingers tapping along her ribcage under her breast.
 “Hey hands to yourself! He was cute! I’m glad you guys didn’t decide to maim him for a simple scrimmage.”
 “That was a bit strange of you, captain.” Matsumoto commented, secretly grateful he could play a normal game. “Why though?”
 Hanamiya shrugged and wiped his brow. He looked to be debating something over in his head before sighing heavily.
 “The Headmaster may or may not be watching our team a little more closely. Honestly, you can only give so many injuries before people start asking questions.”
 The team grew gravely quiet. It’d been something they had anticipated for a long time but never thought would actually happen. Sure, for now they were just being kept under watch, but it let them know that one more incident would most likely lead to a disband. And they didn’t know how to handle that information, they were a team built upon those dirty antics.
 “It’s no big deal, we can do spider-web without the rough play. Emotional and mental manipulation works just as well.” Hanamiya said trying to get his team’s nerves back down.
 (Y/N) rolled her eyes at that but did look slightly concerned at the realization that the team was being looked at under a microscope. She’d honestly wondered why she hadn’t had to call her team out on any foul play this game.
 “He mentioned it to me before today’s scrimmage. I was waiting until Furuhashi got here but god only knows where the hell he is.”
 “I think he powered his phone off. I haven’t heard from him all weekend, I don’t even think he came to school today.” Yamazaki stated after having tried dialing him for the fifth time.
 “Is he okay?” (Y/N) asked in concern.
 “He’s fine, probably just got roped into something with his parents. I swear his mom still picks his clothes out for him.” Hara mocked with a small laugh.
 “Ahh shit! I forgot I needed to pick up a new outfit for that stupid black-tie interhigh formal. Now that we’re being watched, I guess we have to go.” (Y/N) said slapping her forehead and suddenly shooting off a quick text.
 “Holl up!” Hanamiya placed his palm over her phone and lowered it to look directly in the girl’s eyes. “What the actual hell are you talking about with a formal?”
 “Each year the wealthier schools hold an interhigh formal for their athletes. Apparently Kirisaki Daiichi’s basketball team has been invited every year but never attended. The golf and swim team usually make it out there, though.”
 “I’ve literally never heard of that in my life.” Seto mumbled running a hand through his hair.
 “Probably in the big stacks of paperwork we would throw out.” Hanamiya sighed closing his eyes in annoyance. Times like this reminded him of exactly why they had needed a manager to begin with. “But if we never go why the hell should we this year?”
 “Well because now the Headmaster is watching us. If we make an appearance as a respectable team and exchange a few niceties, I’m sure it can at least in some points in our favour.”
 Hanamiya closed his eyes and inhaled deeply through his nose before pressing his hands together. Opening his eyes quickly with an exhale he pointed his hands at the girl firmly.
 “No.”
 “What do you mean no?”
 “I mean there’s no way in hell we’re going to that.”
 “(Y/N)’s not wrong though.” Hara spoke up, looking as if he had actually been thinking everything through. “What’s it going to kill us to sit in a room full of people and pretend we’re normal? You gotta force that shit every day in class, what’s a couple more hours?”
 “I agree with (Y/N) on this one.” Yamazaki nodded in response.
 “You agree with her on everything! Look if you guys wanna go be with a bunch of silver-spoon cocky sons of bitches then be my guest. But tell them your captain can’t make it.” Hanamiya spat out quickly with a tone of finality.
 “That’s fine.” (Y/N)’s concerned face suddenly melted into one of understanding. “It’s not your thing and none of us are gonna force you to go. We can totally go and rep our KiriDai pride without you! On that note, do any of you boys wanna accompany me to the mall?”
 “Why the mall? It’s supposed to be a formal event, you should get your dress from a fancy boutique or something.” Hanamiya commented receiving raised eyebrows from the guys. “If she’s going to be ‘repping’ MY team she better not go looking like shit!”
 “The mall’s cheaper! So, anyone wanna go?”
 “I’m too tired, sorry.” Seto said stifling a yawn.
 “Awww I want to go but my older brother came down from uni and we’re going to dinner!” Yamazaki whined at having to miss an opportunity alone with (Y/N).
 “I don’t go to the mall.” Hanamiya grumbled. “It’s too noisy and crowded.”
 “And since we won today, I have a celebratory session with someone.” Hara said clicking away on his phone.
 “Slut.” Yamazaki teased with a grin.
 “Hot girl?” (Y/N) asked scurrying next to him to try and peek a glance on his phone.
 “All my girls are hot.” Hara responded cockily showing the girl his many attractive Instagram followers. This of course, earning a groan from the guys and he was sure a eyeroll or disgusted noise from (Y/N). To his surprise she held her hand up for a high-five which he gave unsurely.
 “Hell yeah!”
 “That’s not the reaction most people, let alone girls, have to hearing about Hara’s habits.” Seto responded with an amused grin.
 “Well I mean is it consensual?”
 “Of course!”
 “Do they enjoy it?”
 “I’m not one to disappoint.”
 “Are they okay with it being a benefits only thing?”
 “They all vaguely know about each other and are chill about it.”
 “Then he’s ticked all the boxes! Let the boy have his fun!” (Y/N) said scrolling through his friendlist with interest.
 “You’re so fucking weird!” Hara said with a large grin, placing his palm on the girl’s head and messing her hair around.
 The lavender-haired male was beginning to admit something to himself. He’d been less than happy when (Y/N) joined the basketball team and even months later she was just some hot body attached to an annoying nag. But he has to say, he’d found himself growing rather fond of her…she was a cool girl.
 “Oh my phone’s ringing!” (Y/N) said, pulling away from Hara’s affectionate gesture. “Maybe it’s Okamura! Oh…” The girl’s face grew serious as she answered. “Hey Furu! Where were you? The game with Yosen already ended and we’d been trying to call and- Wait what? Furu you need to speak up I didn’t catch tha…You’re what?”
 The team placed all their attention on (Y/N) as she looked at them with concern.
~~~~~
 Furuhashi sat bouncing his leg in the middle of the ramen shop waiting for his teammates to show up. He pushed aside the second bowl of ramen he’d gone through.
 Apparently, he was a nervous eater. He’d never known as, before this day, he’d never been this nervous. His motto had always been to go with the flow, but this situation was never something he was prepared for.
 “Furu!” (Y/N) called out as she raced into the ramen shop and slid into the booth across from him.
 The young man looked at her with his usual blank eyes before looking away and signaling for he waitress to bring him another bowl.
 “Where are the guys?”
 “They’re coming in. We all walked together but at some point, before I even knew it, I was running.”
 He huffed a small chuckle out his nose before giving her a barely-there smile.
 “Don’t do that to me right now, don’t be nice to me or I may just never go back.”
 “Furu, what happened?” Hara spoke up as he and the guys made their way inside and sat in the booth as well.
 “I’m getting married.” The male said as nonchalantly as if he was talking about school assignments.
 “What?” The rest team burst out.
  “Her name is Yui and she lives in Osaka. We both have parental permission so we will be married shortly after graduation.” The male deadpanned taking a sip of water.
 “That’s only a year away!” (Y/N) exclaimed fiddling her hands back and forth.
 “Wait now, slow down. You’ve talked to me about this before.” Seto said putting a hand up trying to process all the information at once. “I thought your mother was going to let you decide.”
 “My stepfather is ill. He likely won’t make it another five years and that would leave me in charge. I had a month to choose from seven options and I never got around to it. Yui’s parents proposed the arrangement and since I was well past the deadline, my parents took up the offer. I can decline of course but then I give up my inheritance and family name.”
 “Why the hell wouldn’t you choose then!? At least that way you would have some say over this big important part of your life!” Yamazaki frantically called out, clearly distressed for his teammate.
 “Because he naively thought that holding it off long enough would make his mother drop the whole thing.” Hanamiya answered for him, trying not to look too invested in the situation.
 “Hanamiya!” (Y/N) scolded, clearly not happy with the guys putting any blame on the victim at hand.
 “No, he’s right. I had this false hope that she would give up on the idea and allow me to take over the company as I am. I figured that because she’d been married for love once she might understand.”
 “Yeah but that was what? One out of four?” Hara asked wondering how his level-headed friend could have completely misjudged his own mother.
 “Do you actually care about marrying for love?”
 All the guys turned to (Y/N) with raised brows and faces quite taken aback. While her voice was still nurturing and understanding, that question wasn’t expected.
 “Isn’t that what everyone wants?”
 “No, it’s what everyone has been told they should want. Some people want stability, and some want to fulfill obligations. Love is nice but not everyone needs it. Do you even care about not loving her or is there something else here?”
 Furuhashi felt his heart in the back of his throat. How a girl who barely knew him could read him was almost uncomfortable. He’d always been taught to mask his emotions, that anything less than a poker face was weakness but to (Y/N) he might as well be an open book.
 “You don’t seem to be the type in favour of arranged marriage.” He remarked to (Y/N) who quipped back instantly.
 “And you don’t seem to be the type that’s waiting on your true love. Is something wrong with this girl in particular?”
 “Is she like basketball?” Seto asked, confusing the whole table. Clearly Furuhashi understood as he averted his eyes. “You told me there was no particular reason you ended up in basketball. You just knew you were going to join something your mother didn’t know about, and this happened to be it. You don’t actually care about who she is, loving her or not. You’re saying no just because your mother said yes.”
 (Y/N) sat there taking in the information. Furu was rebelling. That’s why he didn’t choose from his several options and that’s why he was so against this mystery girl from Osaka. It wasn’t about who she was, it was about his family making the decision for him.
 “I got to know her this weekend. She’s levelheaded and nonconfrontational. I was supposed to accompany her back to Osaka tonight and head back to Tokyo Thursday morning, but I told her I had a prior engagement. She was completely understanding and agreed not to mention it to my parents.”
 “Do you have a picture of her?” Hara asked, honestly curious about Yui.
 Furuhashi opened his phone and scrolled around Instagram for a bit before stopping on an image of a smiling girl in a school uniform. He pointed to the left most girl and watched his phone be passed around.
 Each of them took their turn looking at the image. (Y/N) almost found herself smiling at the picture. The girl was cute with heavy blunt bangs cutting across her forehead and a sharp bob framing her rounded face. Her eyes were large and sparkling with a smile reflecting brighter than the one on her lips.
 “What the hell? She sounds perfectly normal and she’s at least a solid 7.5!” Hara exclaimed holding the phone close to his face.
 “I know. My mother surprisingly found an overall perfect match for me. She’s none of the things I was afraid of when I accepted a long time ago that this was the way things would be. Above all else the union would be an amazing move for our company.”
 “Then what exactly is the problem?” Hanamiya asked raising a thick brow at his teammate.
 “I was so sure my mother and stepfather would pick someone horrible. Someone way too old or way too young. A girl who was hideous inside and out. A complete bitch would have been perfect. Because then it would have been easy.”
 “What would have been easy?” (Y/N) asked, really trying to understand what Furuhashi was feeling.
 “Telling my mother no. I’ve always done exactly what she asked of me and this was supposed to be the first time I actually stood my ground and didn’t allow her to make these terrible choices for me. Only now the problem is that its not terrible. If I tell her no now, I’m not standing my ground, I’m just being a brat.”
 So, there it all was. Furuhashi had held out for hope that this would be his one opportunity to make a choice for himself and not let his mother decide something so big for him. He’d been hoping he could put his foot down on a bad choice, but it didn’t work out that way. Yui was the perfect fit for him, there was nothing to complain about but that wasn’t the point.
 “What are you going to do for now? Your parents expect you to be in Osaka for the next few days.” Hanamiya asked reminding his friend of the whole he’d dug himself into.
 “I don’t k-”
 “He can stay with me.” (Y/N) said quickly and firmly, once again taking everyone at the table aback.
 “You’re a girl, that’s not appropriate for me to-”
 “I don’t care. I have the guest house entirely to myself and the spare bedroom in it isn’t used. You said it once before, your mother doesn’t know me. I’m something that’s only yours, let me be your friend and help you out.”
 Furuhashi almost rejected her offer again. Who was her family exactly? Would they not be angry? If anyone found out would it hurt his reputation or hers? But if she was willing to take that risk…
 “Okay.”
~~~~~
 “I didn’t think we were gonna make a pitstop first.” Furuhashi said with the first true smile he’d had on his face all weekend.
 “Well as much as I wanted to help, I really needed to get this done too.” (Y/N) said adjusting the straps on a floor length black gown. “You should look for what you’re going to wear too.”
 “Do I really have to go to that thing?”
 “No, but I’d like for you to. Hanamiya isn’t and I don’t want to go alone, so I was really hoping all you guys would try.”
 “Why do you like spending time with all of us?” Furuhashi asked resting his chin in his palm. “Someone like you should never be able to mesh with guys like us so well. How do you do it?”
 (Y/N) didn’t seem at all surprised by his question and instead seemed deep in thought.
 “Because guys like you are never all bad. And great guys are never all good. Take my ex for example, people who don’t know him would probably say he’s nothing short of an angel.”
 This earned a deep scoff from the male and a grin from (Y/N).
 “And that’s my point, you know the worst parts of him and have that impression of him. Just because you guys give off a bad impression doesn’t mean you’re nothing but bad. Every negative trait can be seen in a positive light. Rude bluntness is just being a straight shooter. Sarcastic ass comments are a hilarious sense of humour. It’s all perspective and I choose for my cup to be half full.”
 “I’ve always disliked the half cup analogy. If I had a full cup and chose to drink half, it would be half full. If someone handed it to me that way, I’d see it as half empty.”
 “Going back to the things that are out of your control. Can I be 100% honest with you right now?” (Y/N) asked sitting down beside the male on the couch in the fitting room.
 “Sure.”
 “I would never advise you to do something you don’t want to do. Nobody should be forced to do something like that.”
 Furuhashi was surprised as she held her palm out for him to take her hand. Squeezing it tightly, she turned to face him head on and look him dead in the eyes.
 “But Kojiro, don’t let anyone control your decision. Let it come from you and not out of obligation or spite. If you turn down the marriage only because your mother suggested, then you’re still letting her control you. Make a choice that leaves no room for resentment. Not towards Yui and not towards yourself.”
 “Myself?”
 “You mentioned earlier how she would be good for the company. That’s your future and I know its something that is very important to you. If you pass up that opportunity, I hope you don’t regret it. I really do believe you’ll find the best choice for you.” (Y/N) said rubbing her palm over his back comfortingly before standing back up “I’m gonna go find more dresses to try on!”
 Furuhashi simply nodded at her as she quickly disappeared into the dressing room and emerged back out in her KiriDai uniform, running back out into the department store.
 She’d used his first name. She really did care about him as a person, not just saying what was socially acceptable to say. Any other person would have told him not to go through with a marriage that wasn’t rooted in love. But she was real with him and that’s all he could have hoped for.
 (Y/N) sized up a few different choices in her hands. If she was being honest, it wasn’t just for appearances that she wanted to go to the formal. Wealthy schools usually meant wealthy students and that could only mean more business opportunity for her.
 She’d never been permitted to go to such prestigious events but now that there was nobody to stop her, she figured she wanted to make the best impression possible.
 “Did you need any help dear?” A sweet voice chimed from behind the girl.
 Turning her head quickly, (Y/N) was met with a very short and petite older woman. She was smiling widely at the girl before she smacked her fist onto her open palm excitedly.
 “I know something that would look great with your complexion! May I show you?” The woman said almost giddy.
 “Sure.” (Y/N) said a little taken aback by the woman’s enthusiasm, which she seemed to read as she directed her through the racks of clothes.
 “Sorry dear! Not many people come in here looking for such fancy dresses and I do love playing dress up! I only have a son, so I don’t get to do anything like this outside of work!”
 “Oh don’t apologize for being friendly! Though they have such nice men’s clothes here as well, who says you can’t dress your son up?”
 “He does! Haha that kid would bite my head off if I tried!” The woman chuckled though her smile dimmed slightly. “Besides, that boy is always so busy, I hardly see him. Off studying and playing basketball.”
 “Oh? Does he play for his primary school?” (Y/N) asked as the woman flipped through the racks of dresses.
 “Hmm? No dear, highschool! My boy is about to be a third year.”
 (Y/N) seemed a little shocked at hearing that but instead chose to smile. The woman looked far too young to even have a child in middle school let alone someone her age. But that was neither her business nor a definite conclusion. Perhaps she looked really good for her age.
 “That’s just like me! What school does he play for? I may know him!” (Y/N) asked trying to avoid any awkward silences.
 She could see a definite change in the woman’s demeanor. Almost as if she didn’t want to tell her and was trying to think of a way out.
 “Umm Kirisaki Daiichi.”
 “No way!? I go there!” (Y/N) suddenly studied the woman a little harder but a flicker to her name tag suddenly answered any questions. “Oh are…are you Hanamiya Makoto’s mom?”
 The woman turned sharply to face her and seemed only to grow more horrified as the two made eye contact.
 “Why the look? Has Makoto done something to you?” The woman stammered out rubbing her temples in the same manner her son did. “You knew the name right away, should I be worried about that? If he did something, I will pay for it or fix it or anything jus-”
 “No no no, ma’am! Please, I didn’t mean to make any expression, I was just stunned is all. You look nothing like him. I’m the manager for the basketball team at KiriDai, by the way.”
 She saw the woman deflate in relief, though her hands never stopped wringing.
 “(Y/N), correct!? Oh that’s such a relief! My son talks about you all the time, though please don’t ever tell him I said that!” The woman was suddenly smiling widely again as she appeared to be taking in the weary teen’s appearance. “You’ve been good for that team, you know?”
 “Oh?”
 “Good for my son, at least. He’s seemed less high strung lately.”
 “I don’t think I can take any credit for that. I just bring the team food and do paperwork.”
 “No, I see the difference. You bring you, and that’s enough. Kindness is contagious and I sure hope my boy catches some.”
 “Since I’ve met Makoto, he’s given me a purpose and place to be within Kirisaki Daiichi and that’s the kindest thing anyone could have ever done for me.”
 (Y/N) could swear the woman looked ready to burst into tears but she burst into a smile instead.
 “I’m so glad! Well now I really shouldn’t be holding you up chatting away about my little monster! Here’s the dress! What do you think?”
 (Y/N) scrutinized the gown in the woman’s hands. Looking it up and down once more she nodded her head and accepted it.
 “I think it will be perfect! I’m going to try it on!”
 “Oh dear…before you go could I…could I ask two favours of you?”
 “Umm of course.”
 “Don’t tell Makoto you saw me here. He doesn’t like his friends knowing about me or where I work. I would hate for him to become upset with me. I don’t want him to feel embarrassed.”
 The teen almost refuted her statement but decided it was best to keep her mouth shut and nod in agreement.
 “And the other favour?”
~~~~~
 “Awww why hasn’t Okamura texted me!?” (Y/N) pouted throwing herself down in the middle of the gym. “Did I come on too strong?”
 “Yes,” Hanamiya responded nudging her with his foot, to try and get her off the court. “but I doubt that is the reason you haven’t heard from him.”
 “It’s only been a day, maybe he’s busy.” Seto offered, throwing himself on the floor beside her. Hanamiya threw his hands up in exasperation before deciding to settle for half court today.
 “Or maybe it’s just because you’re ugly?” Hara quipped as he fastened the diaper on Mako securely.
 “Ugly? Bitch where?!” (Y/N) said motioning to her own face in an overly conceited manner.
 “If anyone thinks (Y/N) is ugly they should get their eyes checked!” Yamazaki called out only to be met with a subtle glare from Hara.
 The orange haired boy mouthed a quick genuine ‘sorry’ that didn’t go unnoticed by (Y/N). Still she chooses to ignore it as she arched her back off the ground to stretch.
 “Ugh no big deal if he doesn’t keep in contact. He was cute but it’s not like I was in love with him or anything. He reminded me of Takeo Gouda but maybe I shouldn’t be using anime as a guide for dating.”
 “Good morning.” Furuhashi’s voice called out as he entered the gym.
 “Where were you, I thought you and (Y/N) were gonna ride the train to school together?” Hanamiya asked wondering how the girl got there a whole hour earlier.
 “Well we were supposed to but Furuhashi wanted to prove he could do it on his own.” (Y/N) said with a laugh.
 “I made it here, didn’t I?” He responded with a small smirk.
 “How was it staying with (Y/N)? Is her room cute? Is her house big? What does she wear to sleep?” Yamazaki asked shooting off a million questions.
 “Wow, I’m literally right here.” (Y/N) said motioning to all of herself.
 “It was nice, she had me up pretty late….” The male gave a small smirk that instantly had (Y/N) shooting him a warning look. “Talking about my situation of course. So, I called Yui this morning and figured out what I’m going to do.”
 “You’re gonna tell your mom to fuck off?” Hara asked now sitting on the floor beside Seto and the manager.
 “Yui and I decided that as of right now there’s no good reason why we shouldn’t get married.”
 “What!?” Everyone other than (Y/N) exclaimed loudly.
 “Right now, a union would only be beneficial and we both seem to get along rather well. We agreed we would have a loose engagement and push the marriage back until after college.”
 “A loose engagement?” Seto asked curiously.
 “Simply, if a better opportunity pops up elsewhere…we’d like the other to take it. Whether that be a financial opportunity or an emotional one. To put it shortly if we decide we wouldn’t work out or one of us falls in love with someone, the other will call it off.”
 “An engagement with no commitments? Huh that’s kind of an oxymoron.” Yamazaki mused aloud.
 “If it works out then great. However, she’s a cute girl, I’m almost certain she will find someone to fall in love with.” Furuhashi said with a smile.
 “Or you could.” Hara offered.
 Furuhashi felt his eyes drift to (Y/N), who had gotten off the floor and was cheering on Hanamiya as he swished his 7th shot. Too fast for the boys to notice, a glimmer of amusement flickered in those usually dead eyes.
 “Yeah, maybe I could.”
~~~~~
 “How could you forget your phone charger in your gym locker?” Liu asked as the tall former captain bounced impatiently as he waited for the doors to the gym to be unlocked.
 “Nobody ever calls so I just forgot, and my phone is so outdated nobody has a charger that fit! What if she thinks I’m not interested?” Okamura practically whined to his teammates.
 “Well she’s plenty interested in you, so I doubt that’s going to be a problem.” Himuro said with an amused smile.
 “I still say she’s up to something!” Fukui added before seeing the doors to the gym open and feeling the burst of air as Okamura went barging in.
 Quite curious of what would happen the team followed the man into the locker rooms and watched him practically bust the lock off it. Quicker than lightening he shot off a text message to the girl of his dreams.
 “She’s gonna ghost you.” The blonde said in a sing-song tone.
 The tall male was about to respond when a ding from his phone pulled all his attention.
 The poor oaf never saw it coming, with his trembling hands and awkwardly small phone his fingers fumbled.
 He tried to catch it in time but without warning his chance with a cute girl quite literally slipped from his grasp. The phone clattered to the floor, shattering its screen and coming apart in several pieces.
 The whole team stood staring at the gadget broken beyond repair. Okamura breathed in deeply before slamming his locker.
 “I’m heading back to Tokyo!”
 “We don’t have any more funds for a ticket back!”
 “Then I’m walking!”
 “It’s an 8-hour drive!”
Sub bitch,, been a while since I’ve been here 😩 How wound the boys react if they find out that Hanamiya has a smaller sister (a year below Hanamiya) who is in fact has clever as him, but besides that completely different? Like, she’s always nice and stuff like that. Ily
missed you bro 😔🤘
they adopt her pretty much
it’s kinda weird seeing a mini genderbent hanamiya who doesn’t want to break everyone they see, and hanamiya tried to keep his sister away from the team as much as possible, but that couldn’t work forever
i think hara’s probably the one that’s friendliest to hanamiya’s sister
(he’s probably the one that found her too - man’s a bit too good at social media stalking)
at first, the sister found hara’s ‘advances’ a little much
he’s a flirt, partially for fun, partially by accident, and it took hanamiya threatening to beat him up a couple times before hara realised that some of hara’s comments are slightly too sexual to be saying to a younger that he’s literally just met
that said, after a while, the sister got used to hara’s comments and now she’ll even induldge in teasing hanamiya with him
furu, surprisingly, is another team member that hanamiya’s sister gets pretty close with
i mean furu would rather avoid her if possible, but he also has a younger sister, and thus he’s the best in the team at dealing with when hanamiya’s sister gets upset
(she always goes to the team when someone upsets her, since the gym’s a safe spot where she knows none of her classmates can see her, and partially as the team will murder anyone that hurts her)
(she’s lowkey the whole team’s younger sister)
anyhow, if she’s crying or what not, hanamiya’s probably teasing her, hara’s useless, yamazaki’s panicking, seto doesn’t give a shit, and it’s only furuhashi that’s good at calming her down
he just knows what to do man
he’s a good older brother, even if he’ll never admit it
moving on, seto really couldn’t care less about hanamiya’s sister
he strikes me as someone that complains about freshmen, so hanamiya’s sister, a first year, if really not someone he wants to talk to
i mean, if she comes to him asking for help with something, he won’t reject her, but he will never talk to her more than necessary
when the team’s having a break during practice, he’s the one talking with hanamiya anyway when the rest are either on their own or with hanamiya’s sister
finally, yamazaki’s just down right awkward around her
he means well, but he’s just a bit much, and he’s not quite sure how to interact with a Young Girl Related To Hanamiya (Who Can And Will Beat Him Up If He Hurts Her)
forgive him, he’s the youngest child
eventually though, zaki’s grows to be more comfortable around her, via spending time with hara whilst he’s spending time with her
(haven’t included matsumoto in this, cause he’s not all about the “interact with hanamiya” life, and he most certainly would not be interacting with the lad’s sister)
