it's been a long time since I've said anything about parasitic extraction on this blog and I've gotten a lot of followers since and I am currently being haunted by how much I want it to be real and the preposterous amount of work it would take to make it real so I'm gonna talk about it again
parasitic extraction is a role reversal star wars au (reversing the clones and obi-wan) taking place in an alternate universe mandalorian empire (a different one than most mandalorian empire aus take place in).
basically: three hundred years ago, mandalorians were like "hey the jedi are the only things stopping us from taking over the galaxy" so they attacked coruscant and obliterated the jedi temple, then killed or assimilated the survivors, then carved bloody conquest across the rest of the galaxy
now: jango is emperor, with his clone sons cody and rex (older twins) and boba (younger). the mandalorian empire conscripts jedi within the empire to be trained as superior warriors within their military, while the remnants of the old jedi order are in hiding and working to protect young force sensitives from being taken by the empire as well as working with rebellion forces.
jango hates the jedi to a frankly unhealthy degree and so he has a plan to destroy them all: he decides to make 2000 clones of the only jedi they've ever captured alive (obi-wan) in order to create an elite force of psychic agents who can help capture and subdue the jedi and force them to give up the location of their home planet so that he can send a giant space laser over there and wipe them out of existence
these obi-clones are distributed as special agents all across the galaxy--jango has his own personal obi-clone, cody gets one, rex gets one, satine (with bo-katan and friends) get one, pre visla gets one, ursa wren (with padme and ahsoka) get one, etc. but what jango doesn't know is that all these obi-clones have a sort of psychic hive mind thing going on and they are all plotting to take down the mandalorian empire so they can save obi-wan and the jedi
there's a lot more going on (like plots from death watch who want jango dead yesterday and every single mandalorian character's Massive Issues including how Intensely Abnormal jango is about obi-wan in particular) but that's the overall gist of the story
anyways, ask me questions about parasitic extraction I wanna talk about it more

How would the ROs celebrate Valentine's Day with MC?
Happy Valentine's, Author! ❤️
Happy Valentine's Day! Today's a great day to say I love all of you wonderful people ❤️
August is boring a wine and dine type of Valentine's date, especially if your relationship is somewhat new. They'll want the entire town to know they're the one you're spending Valentine's Day with. They'll take you to your favourite restaurant, and chances are it's a sentimental choice because they, at one time, ate there with you as friends. The cooks always thought you guys were going to get together. They'll give you a necklace or bracelet, and they definitely want you to wear it all the time.
Blair would make you breakfast in bed, and wake you with a kiss. They're such a romantic simp, so expect a massive flower bouquet too. They're a bit traditional, so they'll take you out for dinner that night to a nice restaurant too. Afterwards, they'll suggest taking their dog, Seger, for a leisurely walk and they'll insist on holding your hand. Also, fun fact, Blair gets Seger a Valentine's Day gift too 🥺
Wren will take you on an unhinged, semi-unplanned date. They'll set up a picnic with your favourite foods, and it'll most definitely end with them very loudly proclaiming their love in an over-the-top Shakespearean-like monologue in a public space, totally interrupting other couples' dates. Something like "Oh, my dearest of loves, for never was a story of such true love like ours. You hold my beating heart in the palm of your hand." They'll do this even if you've only been together for two weeks 💀
Neve would cook your favourite meal, and they'd plan to spend the night cuddling on the sofa and watching movies. They're completely fine with you picking all of the movies, they just want to spend time with you. They'll be prepared with the best snacks too, like popcorn and chocolate.

Secret Santa Gift!
This is for the @writeblrcafe secret santa event! I hope everyone likes it, I had a lot of fun with it.
Keeper
Summary: Wren is the keeper of the Dragon's Nest Bay light, and one calm night she heeds the call of the alarms to a very different visitor.
Word Count: 1352
The sea chimes woke Wren up from a lovely dream in the dead of night.
She pulled herself out of bed, nearly hitting her head on the rafters that sloped over her bedroom, panic driving her forward. She activated the lights in her room with a tendril of magic and grabbed her robe, throwing it over her shoulders. She yanked her hair into a messy bun and shoved her feet into her boots.
The sea chime rang clear and loud over the water.
She glanced out the window and frowned. The sea was calm and flat, the heavily round moon glittering on the surface.
Still, the chimes ringing meant she had a duty. She grabbed her goggles and stepped into the lighthouse.
Wren took the stairs two at a time, hanging onto the railing. It was a long way up, but she was three months into her internship and only a little out of breath when she reached the top.
The top of the lighthouse was carved to resemble a massive, curled sea shell, the light nestled within it like a pearl. It glowed softly, having absorbed sunlight for several days without needing to be activated. Wren put on her goggles, making sure that there were no spots the light could leak in before she stepped beneath it.
The sphere rotated slowly above her, bigger than she was tall, and she was not a short person. She placed her hand on the bottom.
The swirling design of her magic blazed across the surface, blue and green before blazing into the same silver light as the moon. Lines of magic raced from its surface, filling in the entrance to the cove with a net made of thick strands of light.
A small village sat near the lighthouse, sprung up due to the safety it provided.
But the lighthouse was only there to keep monsters out for their own safety.
The cove was too small for a kraken or a sea serpent. If they swam in at high tide they would quickly be trapped, hurting themselves in the process.
So the lighthouse had been erected at the top of rocks at the cove’s entrance. The magic was too much of a strain to keep up permanently, so it was only erected when something large enough entered the bay, usually during a storm.
It wasn’t completely unheard of for something to want to rest in the shallow and calm waters of Dragon’s Nest Bay during a clear night, or for one of the massive bottom feeders that swam down the coast to become curious about the cove on its journey.
Better safe than sorry.
The magic would last for a few hours, but she needed to keep watch, to be safe and offer any aid. She’d already helped a young lost kraken and bandaged up a siren brought to her by a massive turtle.
Besides, the Sea Witch might not care if the town was destroyed, but she needed to get snacks and tea from somewhere, and sometimes she was even brave enough to hazard a conversation with the woman who ran the gift shop, even as she reminded herself that her time there was limited.
She could sit in the chair she’d placed up there in her second week, maybe get her kettle and a tin of cookies out of the cupboard that shared space with the one in the kitchen. It would be a long and probably boring wait.
But for the moment she leaned against the railing. It was cold, with the damp wind coming off of the ocean. Even this far up in the worst storms she sometimes got hit by spray, but it was completely calm, not a cloud in the sky, just a myriad of stars embracing a full moon. She breathed in the salt of the air and watched the silver light of her magic and the moon play on the calm, flat water.
A ripple cracked the moon’s reflection.
Wren gripped the railing, leaning out as far as she dared.
Something moved through the bay, straight for her. Fast, like an arrow fired under the water. She could just see something glowing beneath the surface, heading straight for the cove. She glanced at the net, it looked strong and uniform, and the light glowed brightly like a secondary moon.
She braced herself for an impact, ready to push back against whatever was so determined to come into the cove.
It swam directly to the base of the rocks and crashed through the surface, sending a wave that hit her, clear up at the top of the lighthouse, soaking her straight through even with her robe.
She shoved her sopping hair out of her face and saw a dragon.
It was a sea dragon, glowing a pale green, body smooth and glistening like a whale. Its head was slightly domed like a beluga, its fin-like wings spread out on either side of it. It clung to the rock face so its face was even with hers, turning its head to regard her with one shining blue eye.
‘Wren Ackerly?’
Wren winced back, the voice was loud, and layered with the dragon’s true language underneath it, making the words confusing to her ear. “Yes?”
‘I am Ceta, a messenger of The Sea Witch, and I come bearing fantastic news!’
Wren dropped into a bow, her wet robe pooling around her. “I am ready to receive it.”
It wasn’t a holiday, as far as she remembered. Just a normal night before the sea chimes started. Now she knew exactly what had set them off.
Still, there were rules and propriety when it came to greeting a messenger of the great Sea Witch, and any dragon demanded a certain amount of decorum, though she was still dripping wet, shivering, and in her nightgown and robe.
‘She has declared that you, Wren Ackerly, are now a full sea witch in your own right!’ The dragon proclaimed. Magic formed fireworks around her, dazzling and bright blue, glittering all around the lighthouse.
Wren was confused, but didn’t voice it out loud. She hadn’t completed her internship, she hadn’t even started on her thesis, let alone her master project. Maybe it had been a mistake.
‘Congratulations, as the new Keeper of the Dragon’s Nest Cove Light!’
“Wait, what?” Wren lost all sense of politeness. “I’m…assigned here? For how long?”
‘For as long as the Sea Witch sees fit! You have performed the duty excellently, and the Sea Witch has assigned you as the permanent Keeper! Congratulations again, Wren Ackerly, on your status as a full witch. Here is your familiar!’
A bundle of wet seaweed fell onto the roof next to her.
‘Farewell, Wren Ackerly, until we meet again!’
“Hey, wait a second.” Wren started forward. “This is an internship, unpaid even, I can’t just stay here, what about-”
But the dragon launched itself off of the rocks and back into the bay, showering her with salty water once again. She stood, frozen, for a moment, trying to process everything.
The bundle of seaweed moved.
For the second time that night she shoved her hair out of her eyes.
A little face stared up at her. It wasn’t a bundle of seaweed at all, but a very large leaf sheep, magical enough to live above the waves. It crawled up her leg and latched onto her arm, nuzzling against her shoulder, the green tendrils on its back shaking.
“I didn’t agree to this.” She pointed at it.
It didn’t seem to care, a soft purring noise vibrating its tiny body.
She sighed. Since the dragon had set off the sea chimes, she could go back to bed. Maybe in the morning she would discover this was all a strange dream.
More likely, she’d have to come to terms with being the keeper for a very, very long time.
She thought about the gift shop owner and sighed. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
“C’mon, Wooly,” she said, naming her familiar the first thing she could think of. “Let me show you around the tower.”

Star Wars Ahsoka: "Time to Fly" - Review
Tumblr media
Ahsoka and Sabine begin their mission and the series starts to find its footing in an improved, if not great, third chapter.
As Hera Syndulla reaches out to New Republic leadership for help, Ahsoka and Sabine set out for the mysterious world of Seatos. However, they find much more than they expected upon arrival.
Finally, things are starting to come into shape. "Time to Fly" doesn't exactly solve the many issues that plagued Ahsoka's two part premiere, but it takes some decent strides towards getting back on course. Despite it's remarkably short runtime, Dave Filoni manages to accomplish a decent amount in "Time to Fly" delivering some much needed exposition and character study and an entertainingly unique action sequence.
While it may be a strange thing to be thankful for, I'm very glad that such a large portion of this chapter is spent simply letting Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang interact with one another. Sure, Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka is still too detached and mysterious to make much of, but we are finally starting to understand the ins and outs of her mentoring of Sabine Wren. Unlike the premiere where both women were defined mostly by quiet frustration, we begin to see a more fruitful, fluid, and dynamic relationship between both characters here. Ahsoka wonders aloud if she's a quitter and too eager to abandon her callings. Sabine struggles to live up to the steep expectations that come with being a Jedi. We are still missing the origins of this dynamic and Ahsoka's rationale for wanting to change a non-Force Sensitive in the Jedi arts to begin with, but "Time to Fly" at least lets us understand a bit more why this is a dynamic worth following. And even if Dawson's performance is still failing to land, Bordizzo seems to be settling into Sabine while creating her own spin on the character.
There's also some welcome clarification on the state of the larger galaxy in "Time to Fly" as Hera Syndulla approaches members of the New Republic with concerns about Grand Admiral Thrawn's return. Intentionally or not, Ahsoka seems to put the audience in the position of the skeptic here. While Hera is one of the show's heroines and a beloved character to franchise fans, viewers who are new to all of this have no context as to why they should care about Thrawn's return or about Hera's desire to rescue Ezra Bridger. We may understand that Hera wants this, but viewers haven't exactly been given reason to stand by her side during her debate with Mon Mothma and Kazuda Xiono's asshole dad. It's a bizarre moment of narrative dissonance and if intentional, could be an interesting move in the long run. I'm not inclined to give that level of credit, but it still makes for an interesting sequence
Also Jacen is here. He still has green hair. He looks a little less like a horrific mash up of a Rugrats character and a head of broccoli.
The highlight of "Time to Fly" is undoubtedly the extended dogfight that takes place above and in the skies of Seatos. The initial reveal of an ornate and massive hyperspace ring is a fun spin on Star Wars' forever fascination with big secret space objects and I like that for a change it isn't a superweapon. And the dogfight that follows is fun Star Wars spectacle. It may be lacking in any form of true narrative tension, but the execution by director Steph Green and the production team is pretty damn fun. I mean, Ahsoka gets in a space suit and slices at any enemy ships in zero gravity. It's the kind of Star Wars set piece that many fans have dreamed about for years and the results are filled with all of the whirring laserswords and sliced up starfighters that you'd hope for.
And then, "Time to Fly" just kind of stops. Given the episode's short runtime it doesn't really make sense why Dave Filoni didn't write more of a coherent third act to this chapter. It speaks to the clunky serialization of Mandoverse shows that want to be episodic without the actual storytelling chops to do so.
All in all, "Time to Fly" feels remarkably more competent than its predecessors. Sure, this is faint praise, but I do want to see this show succeed. There's some genuine joy and creativity bubbling beneath the surface in Ahsoka and I want to see it break free. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
Score: B

Bo-Katan Week 2023
Day 5, alternate prompt: Ursa and Bo Being Besties (but with a different spin)
AO3 link here.
There was a short time where Bo-Katan thought there might be another path, without Pre Vizsla.
Their first kiss was quick. Almost shy. Very much a bit awkward.
The next one was a bit like the first, but lingered more.
By their fifth kiss, they had learned each other’s lips. There was a familiarity in it that lended a sense of comfort to what were stolen, brief moments.
It was during the tenth kiss, this one longer and more searching, fingers twined through hair or grazing the other’s skin, that made Bo-Katan wonder if she could have a life with Ursa Wren.
And it was the twentieth kiss that it all came crashing down.
The heat of Ursa’s body, pressed close to Bo’s, chased the cool of sunset in the dim forest away. The weight of Ursa’s hands on her hips grounded her as Bo laced her arms around Ursa’s neck, wanting to hold on to her forever. Wanting to run away, far from Concordia, far from the stubborn refusal to accept the outcome of the war that had ended everywhere else in Mandalorian space five years earlier. Bo wanted to be free of it all. To be free from Pre Vizsla. And Ursa Wren, who was only here out of obligation to her House, was the first time Bo thought maybe she could actually get free.
And then it was all ripped away. A familiar vice grip clamped down hard on her bicep and yanked her back, severing her connection to Ursa. She was thrown to the ground, tossed aside like a forgotten child’s toy, the air knocked from her lungs at the force of it. Tears sprang to her eyes as she looked up at her attacker, knowing who it would be.
“Pre,” she whispered. His face was twisted into a furious sneer as he stared down at her.
“You lying bitch,” he growled, his voice low with rage and hurt.
Movement caught Bo’s eye, and she glanced behind him to a stunned Ursa, her hand falling to the grip of her blaster, Ursa’s eyes pinned on Pre’s back. Bo shook her head, silently pleading with Ursa not to follow through with her thought.
Pre followed Bo’s eyes, turning toward Ursa, his massive framing dwarfing the smaller woman. “You. I knew it would be you.”
“Pre, no,” Bo shouted, scrambling to her knees, grabbing onto Pre’s belt. “Please don’t hurt her, Pre.”
Ursa stilled, but her hand still rested on the blaster. Her spine straightened, she tilted her chin up, defiant, looking exactly as one would expect the daughter of the leaders of Clan Wren to look. “He wouldn’t dare. He knows if he so much as hurts a hair on my head, my fathers will bring the wrath of Krownest down on this camp.”
Her confidence was intoxicating and beautiful. Bo wished she had a sliver of it. It reminded her of her own mother, long dead. And, though she’d never admit it out loud, her sister. Ursa was brave in ways Bo could only ever dream of, and it made her love her more.
The moment ended. Pre chuckled. It was a menacing sound.
“I’m not going to hurt her, Bo.”
Pre whirled, twisting quickly to grab Bo’s wrists, wrenching her arms up and back as he moved behind her, pushing his knee into her spine, bending her backward, her body screaming in protest as joints were flexed in the wrong direction, muscles and tendons stretching to their limits. Ursa went to move, jump to Bo’s rescue.
“Don’t!” Pre shouted, pulling back on Bo’s wrists more. Bo, despite having trained herself not to react to Pre’s physical outbursts, let a cry of pain slip from her lips. Ursa froze.
Pre dragged Bo to her feet, letting go of her wrists to wrap a sinewy forearm around her throat. She could feel his hot breath, smelling like cassius tea and death sticks, on her face and neck. “I won’t hurt Ursa. I’m not a foolish man.” The arm tightened and he lifted Bo until only her toes scraped the ground. “I can’t hurt Ursa because I do need the Wrens to stay on my side. But you, Bo?” He nipped at her ear, then brushed his lips to her cheek, in some sick pantomime of a kiss. “The only one who would miss you is Ursa. So, you I can and will hurt if I ever catch wind of you running around together behind my back.”
He tossed her back to the ground, and she landed hard on her hands and knees, the rough forest floor biting into her palms. She looked up at Ursa, her gold-brown eyes round with horror. “Got it, Wren?” Pre asked. Ursa nodded. “Good. Find yourself another plaything. I don’t share.”
With that, Pre turned and disappeared back into the woods in the direction of camp, leaving Bo and Ursa staring at each other, Bo’s breaths ragged.
“Ursa-” she started, but Ursa shook her head, her eyes closing for a beat as she took a deep breath. Then, she turned and walked off into the forest, deeper, further from camp, leaving Bo alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pre’s head hit the floor with a sickening thud, his face rolling to face her, steel blue eyes dead and as resigned as his last words.
Bo-Katan felt her heart hit the floor beside Pre’s lifeless body. She could not process what was happening. It was too much. It was all too much. It was everything she had been afraid of, and yet it was still incomprehensible.
“I claim this sword, and my rightful place as leader of Death Watch!” the monster growled. Bo dragged her eyes away from Pre’s face to see Maul holding the dark saber aloft, Death Watch commandos moving to take a knee at his feet.
She shook her head, working some sense back into her grief stricken brain. “Never!” she shouted. “No outsider will ever rule Mandalore!” Behind her, she sensed other commandos gathering behind her. She heard weapons priming.
“If you will not join me, you will all die,” Maul said, his voice deep and full of self assurance. The kneeling commandos stood, turning toward her and the tight bunch of commandos behind her, moving slowly, but with menace.
Bo shook her head again. This could not be happening. How could this be happening?
“You’re all traitors!”
“Unfortunately for you, history will not see it that way,” he said, sounding for a brief moment, apologetic. Then even the very air in the room seemed to shift. He swung the saber toward her. “Execute them!”
With a fleeting glance back to Pre’s face, Bo slammed her helmet on, and fired, immediately taking out a charging commando. And then, she fled, not totally comprehending, until much later, how many people had fled with her.
They had found refuge deep in the underbelly of Sundari, far from the city center. She wasn’t sure if night was falling or if this particular place was just dark, but she pulled her helmet off and sat down on a low wall, deep in the shadows of a boarded up building, feeling exhausted, terrified, and confused. She looked around, counting the heads of those with her. A dozen, maybe. Some had removed their helmets like her, and she was relieved to see many familiar faces.
Someone sat beside her, pulling off their helmet. Bo turned absently to see who it was, and gasped in relief. “Ursa!”
“What next, alor?” Ursa asked, her face looking as shell shocked as Bo felt.
Bo ignored the question and instead threw her arms around Ursa. “You’re here.”
Ursa tensed for a long moment, her arms still at her side. Then she softened, and pulled Bo into a tight embrace. “Of course I’m here, Bo-Katan. Where else would I be?”
Bo let go, pulling back to look at Ursa. She shrugged. “I just thought…well, I guess because we haven’t been close….” She trailed off, not sure how to put her complicated feelings into words. She and Ursa had once been very close. But that had changed.
Ursa smiled sadly. “I was protecting you from me,” Ursa said simply. “But while things may be different now, I still care for you. So, what next, alor?”
Bo stared at Ursa for a long moment, fighting the urge to get lost in old memories. Lost in old dreams that were never meant to be. Then she sighed, looked up and around and realized the rest of the group were waiting for her reply.
Now was not the time to wallow in old memories of girlish romances or to mourn the death of a complicated man murdered by a monster.
Mandalore came first.
“Right,” she said, standing up. “We get the duchess out.”
Star Ware Rebels Bechdel Test Rewatch- 2x15 ‘The Call’
Tumblr media
Plot
Low on fuel and power in deep space, the Ghost crew encounters massive, mysterious creatures whose lives are threatened by a mining operation.
Female Characters: 2
Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren
Male Characters: 4
Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Zeb Orrelios, Boss Yushyn
Droid Characters: 1
Chopper
Does it pass?
Yes, this episode passes several times! Hera and Sabine exchange plenty of dialogue throughout the episode. It’s fun to watch the whole crew tease Hera about her disdain for the purrgil. I gotta say, this episode is the epitome of what seems like a filler episode becoming essential.
I made an ‘essential episodes’ watchlist for the people in my life who want to get familiar with Rebels before Ahsoka premieres but don’t have time to binge the whole series. I know a lot of them will be frustrated by this one, but clearly it pays off way later! Would I put this episode on any ‘essential list’ otherwise? Probably not. It has some fun moments with the crew, and I like seeing Ezra’s connection to non-sentient beings growing stronger and stronger...but overall not one of my favorites of the series.
Note
wait what parts of star wars do you like? why don’t you like the others? just curious! <3
anon, i am about to try to be sooooo normal but please note this is me when i talk about the parts of star wars i like:
Tumblr media
so in essence, my favorite star wars media is as follows (in order of exposure):
The Prequels
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Knights of the Old Republic
The Force Unleashed
Rogue One
Star Wars: Rebels
The Mandalorian
i have not yet gotten to The Book of Boba Fett or Andor or The Bad Batch, but they are on my list most DEFINITELY.
when i was a kid, i had a vhs tape of Return of the Jedi. i watched it so many times the tape wore out. i did not care about the story or the characters that much, but the concepts were riveting. the overarching world lore had me in a total chokehold. i consumed every side story book i could get my hands on and watched the prequels in an all night movie marathon at a drive in.
anakin skywalker became my favorite character ever in a piece of media. he was sooooo compelling to me. and knowing he turns dark and ends up the guy in the mask at the end of RotJ??? absolutely fascinated me. fast forward to The Clone Wars tv series coming out. i was TRANSFIXED. i was 16 and it made me feel like a kid again. i loved ahsoka tano with my whole entire heart. i played KotOR and later TFU. if someone says 'galen marek' in my earshot, i am immediately asking if they want to be best friends.
my husband took me to each of the new star wars trilogy and again, nothing about the main story did ANYTHING for me, but the new worlds, the tech, the concepts! then i watched rogue one and for the first time since the prequels i was in love with a star wars movie.
i know probably Too Much about the history of the mandalorians because sabine wren was one of my favorite characters in Rebels and, being a massive TCW fan, the fetts are SOOOO interesting to me! this obviously made me lose my entire mind when a series about A MANDALORIAN was announced, right? wrong. i had zero interest because i was worried it would just be some offshoot of the new series. but i decided to give it a chance because my husband wanted to watch it to talk to his dad about it (the man is very weird and the only thing we have found that the old grump likes is baby yoda, so we get him every piece of grogu merch we can find). i was hooked nearly immediately. it had all the things i wanted: adjacency to the mainline star wars series without being about the main plot, characters i was familiar with and cared deeply about, new characters i came to adore with my entire soul, new planets and armor and tech, and lore.
so you ask why i don't like most star wars things and i guess it boils down to the lack of lore. it doesn't feel like most mainline star wars media explores the nooks and crannies of lore that i am most interested in or expounds upon much outside of the current necessary information and overarching Good Versus Evil plot. at its core, to me, star wars is a space fantasy (not sci-fi like a lot of people would say) and i like it best when its leaning into the world building of that fantasy.
thanks for coming to my TED talk!
the vision hunt decree. the disease that plagued inzuma, hidden under the guise of law and order. it overtook all of inazuma, taking peoples treasures away from them.
for you, it took away your love.
ever since the decree started, kazuha fled from inazuma, from you, from the home and space you both ever so carefully constructed with love. in the process only leaving a small note on your bedside drawer.
the note carried with it small star shaped tear stains and heavy deep folds that signified the opening and refolding of the note countless times. that’s all you had of him. as you read about your lover going on the run to save his life, something pulled at your heart, pride for your lover and what he was doing but a deep grief for all you both had lost. each other. and more.
for a year, you would sneak out of the city to catch a glimpse of your lover, a soft touch on the cheek, a glimmer in your eyes as they met. but nothing more. you forgot how it felt to hear his voice and to melt into it, or to feel his lips pressing into your skin in the softest degree of affection. and you never knew if the day would come where you would once again feel his touch.
everyday without him made the yawning hole in your heart so much deeper, as if each day that passed, the grief that followed burrowed itself into that hole.
but the day did come. the vision hunt decree was lifted. kazuha never explicitly told you he’d be coming home, but you knew. you knew your kazuha would come to you as soon as he could, bringing the smell of sweet maple leaves and home.
he was your home.
a note appeared the next day. your eyes darted over neat elegant lettering, a soft smile coming to your lips.
“i’ll be home tomorrow. 8 am.”
at 7:50 am, you stepped out of your house, your heart bursting with excitement.
at 7:55 am, anxiety filled you as the clock slowly ticked forward, inching closer to the moment you were eagerly awaiting.
at 8:00, you looked around, a smile coming unbidden to your face, your heart feeling like it was going to burst.
at 8:05, a slight uneasiness filled you, as you shifted from one foot to another, shifting your weight as if you could shift your sorrow around.
at 8:30, you blinked away the tears in your eyes, willing your the hole in your heart not to grow larger.
at 10:00 am, you turned around, taking the first step back to your home, the first step back to a definite future without kazuha. soft tears slipped down your cheeks, leaving thin streams of sorrow down your face.
at 10:02 am, two warm arms wrapped around your torso, an out of breath voice hovering above your ear.
“i am so so sorry my dove. i was trying to get home but the ship hit a really rocky patch of sea and it was so horrible you cannot imagine-”
scaramouche; getting stuck next to him in rush hour
- will stare at you in like discontent if you sit next to him
- but he’ll deal with it
- kind of,,,
- LOWKEY PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE LIKE
- “you couldn’t find any other seat?”
- LOUD. SIGHS.
- but you don’t give up talking to him cause you find him interesting
- he kind of is offhandish at first but gives in cause you say something interesting and he’s invested now
-ˋˏ———
a loud sigh interrupted the clacking of your keys, and your fingers stilled as you looked back up at the perpetrator.
“listen i don’t want to be stuck with you either okay?” you mumbled under your breath, half hoping he heard you.
he did.
“nobody asked you to sit here.” his words sliced through the thin air of tension between you two.
you merely scoffed, not willing to put up with his antics and were about to go back to your work when your name was called for your order.
giddy, you got up and retrieved your favorite item from the menu, carefully balancing it in your hands so you didn’t topple and spill it everywhere. it was too precious. you tried to ignore the curious glances your table mate sent you as you settled back into your seat, letting out a decisive hum when everything was set.
“is that,, is that what i think it is?” your eyes flicked to his, a wave of surprise hitting you as you saw the absence of malice in his eyes. before you could answer his question, he continued,
“yeah it is. huh.”
“what’s that supposed to mean?” you asked, a frown slowly starting on your face.
a soft sigh left your chest as your boyfriends arms pulled you closer. gentle warmth blossomed inside you, manifesting in the form of a lazy smile as you looked up at your lover.
a hand came up to your cheek, tucking a short strand of hair behind your ear.
“you’re so pretty.”
you blinked vapidly, convinced your ears weren’t working correctly. then, you questioned if your eyes were working correctly when you saw a bright red blush bloomed on your lovers cheek, putting even the reddest rose to shame.
“huh?” a teasing lilt colored your voice and you drank in your boyfriends reaction, opening a small piece of your heart for it.
he stammered, words tripping each other and cutting each other off. his stream of words was abruptly cut off when he closed his mouth, slowly blinking. his eyes ran from you, looking at everything except for back into your eyes. you watched as his dark blue eyes flicked to the wall as of the beige coloring was now the most fascinating thing he’d ever laid eyes upon.
still not taking his eyes off the wall, he softly mumbled to you, the words slotting themselves into that part of your heart you had opened for this moment.
“i- i don’t take it back. you’re, uh. um. you’re really pretty. beautiful even.”
there’s so many words that could have come out of your mouth at that moment, that could have made the unbearably sweet moment even sweeter, tinging the air with the love that surrounded you two.
instead-
“i think this is the first time you’ve ever said um. or stammered. this is so funn-”
“GET OFF OF ME.”
ALMA witnesses deadly star-slinging tug-of-war between merging galaxies While observing a newly-dormant galaxy using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), scientists discovered that it had stopped forming stars not because it had used up all of its gas but because most of its star-forming fuel had been thrown out of the system as it merged with another galaxy. The result is a first for ALMA scientists. What’s more, if proven common, the results could change the way scientists think about galaxy mergers and deaths. The results of the research are published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. As galaxies move through the Universe, they sometimes encounter other galaxies. As they interact, each galaxy’s gravity pulls on the other. The ensuing tug-of-war flings gas and stars away from the galaxies, leaving behind streams of material known as tidal tails. And that’s just what scientists believe happened to SDSS J1448+1010, but with a plot twist. The massive galaxy, which was born when the Universe was about half its current age, has nearly completed merging with another galaxy. During observations with the HST and ALMA— an international collaboration in which the U.S. National Science Foundation’s National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is a partner— scientists discovered tidal tails containing roughly half of the entire system’s cold, star-forming gas. The discovery of the forcefully discarded material— equal to 10 billion times the mass of Earth’s Sun— was an indication that the merger may be responsible for snuffing out star formation, and that’s something scientists didn’t expect. “What initially made this massive galaxy interesting was that, for some reason, it suddenly stopped forming stars about 70 million years ago immediately following a burst of star-forming activity. Most galaxies are happy to just keep forming stars,” said Justin Spilker, an astronomer at Texas A&M University and the lead author of the paper. “Our observations with ALMA and Hubble proved that the real reason the galaxy stopped forming stars is that the merger process ejected about half the gas fuel for star formation into intergalactic space. With no fuel, the galaxy couldn’t keep forming stars.” The discovery is shedding light on the processes by which galaxies live or die, and helping scientists to better understand their evolution. “When we look out at the Universe, we see some galaxies that are actively forming new stars, like our own Milky Way, and some that aren’t. But those ‘dead’ galaxies have many old stars in them, so they must have formed all of those stars at some point and then stopped making new ones,” said Wren Suess, a cosmology fellow at the University of California Santa Cruz and a co-author of the paper. “We still don’t yet understand all of the processes that make galaxies stop forming stars, but this discovery shows just how powerful these major galaxy mergers are, and how much they can affect how a galaxy grows and changes over time.” Because the new result is from a single observation, it is currently unclear just how common this tug-of-war and its resultant quiescence may be. However, the discovery challenges long-held theories about exactly how star formation stops and galaxies die and has provided scientists with an exciting new challenge: to find more examples. “While it’s pretty clear from this system that cold gas really can end up way outside of a merger system that shuts off a galaxy, the sample size of one galaxy tells us very little about how common this process is,” said David Setton, a graduate student in the department of physics and astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh and a co-author of the paper. “But, there are many galaxies out there like J1448+1010 that we’re able to catch right in the middle of those crashes and study exactly what happens to them when they go through that stage. The ejection of cold gas is an exciting new piece of the quiescence puzzle, and we’re excited to try to find more examples of this.” Spilker added, “Astronomers used to think that the only way to make galaxies stop forming stars was through really violent, fast processes, like a bunch of supernovae exploding in the galaxy to blow most of the gas out of the galaxy and heat up the rest. Our new observations show that it doesn’t take a ‘flashy’ process to cut off star formation. The much slower merging process can also put an end to star formation and galaxies.” TOP IMAGE....Scientists observing the newly-dormant galaxy SDSS J1448+1010 found that most of its star-forming fuel had been tossed out of the system as it merged with another galaxy. That gas is not forming new stars for the galaxy but remains nearby in new structures known as tidal tails. This artist’s conception shows the stream of gas and stars that were flung away from the massive galaxy during its merger. 9/10/22-Millyford Bridge in the New Forest
We came here today for another lovely forest walk, dominated by fungi. It was brilliant to see a plethora of shrooms, of different shapes, sizes and colours, all a treat for the eyes and as well as other things a big source of inspiration for photos. I took the second and third pictures in this photoset of some mushrooms on the walk.
Four species dominated, firstly a mysterious few amethyst deceiver one of which I took the fourth picture in this photoset of quite a big one. Fast becoming one of my favourites since I saw my first only two years ago one I had hoped to see for a while before that, it was an honour to have seen these for another autumn with their distinctive purple shade. We had come here in the hope of me seeing one as my Mum saw some here in the week. Catching sight of a few fly agaric on this woodland ramble was joyful, the fairytale toadstool which it has been a true pleasure to see so much of this weekend and last. A symbol of autumn which I always feel pleased to see. Another panthercap was nice to see, and after the fly agaric and amethyst deceiver two of what are probably my three favourites we spotted the third. The enigmatic yellow stagshorn rising from the floor, a mushroom I have a great affinity with. I also managed to identify common puffball on the walk the first picture in this photoset shows some of this I believe and the fifth picture shows some distinctive ones, lovely sulphur tuft and possible porcelain fungus a great white one which I have seen before in the New Forest I believe. It was nice to see a bit of lichen and possibly a gall as well.
It was lovely to see and hear Robin, see Blackbird, see and hear Great Tit well and see a probable Wren in the undergrowth on the walk. Grey Squirrels and New Forest ponies were key sightings on the walk with cattle seen the other side of the road at the start too. Dor beetle, wood spurge leaves and tormentil flower were nice sights on the walk too.
It was lovely to take a walk through this woody and watery habitat, with autumnal colour trickling into the landscape. Rich woodland to immersed in, with the strong sunlight and creamier moments as the sun went behind clouds a bit bringing autumnal magic to the woods. A sweet feeling. As is natural in my multi faceted interest there has been an increase in my New Forest visits in recent weeks, a month or so; and I have cherished being out in this oasis of calm at various locations ones I visit a lot and others seeing top fauna, flora, fungi and scenes. I have used the words peace and tranquil a lot to describe them and it is so wonderful to enjoy the breathing space here as I have always loved. There is a potency to that as the year shuts down in autumn I’ve always thought. I took the final five pictures in this photoset of views here today it was especially great to see reflections into the stream here too in the bright sunshine today. It was nice to speak to some great people on the walk too.
At home today I liked seeing a massive spider in the living room, sunlit pink flowers in the garden and others and yellow leaves appearing in the landscape ever more especially trees I believe are at Fleming Park visible from room and some in the garden on a plant too. There were nice sky scenes tonight with the Hunter’s full moon rising which was great to see shining through cloud and views of Goldfinch today. Another brilliant weekend, I hope you all have a good new week.
This is gonna be purely self indulgent and that's that!
Invader Zim/Warframe crossover
(Please note I do not want any Warframe Spoilers! I've seen a few but I'm starting The Sacrifice quest soon as my Mirage Frame is back to max. Beware! If you are around Chains of Harrow or before there may be spoilers below!)
The Void is a weird thing right? You can get Void Fissures in the Void! This leads me to believe that the Void itself is a place between not just the worlds in the warframe universe, but other realities and dimensions, even other versions of the Void itself!
So what if during a mission during the Old War, a Couple Tenno ended up on irk? They land to the south in a tropical land near a much smaller Hive. Let's say, Volt, Mirage, and Octavia are the frames that land along with their tenno piloting them. (If it made sense I would have included Nidus too but the Infestation is not something I'm gonna touch on till later. Nidus was my first Prime!)
The hive: Simply called Home by the small community to reside there, they have a sickly Tallest
1. The Hive is heavily isolated in the center of a massive and highly dangerous jungle. If the predators don't get you, the plants or weather will. Many drones joke they only survived due to their green Thumbs.
2. The Hive's most common genetic mutations and appearances are muddy brown and green patterned skin and dull flower colored eyes. Their antenna are barely longer than a few inches in length, and long antena are seen as exotic. Bright leaf green skin with white vine and root like markings is very uncommon, but seen as incredibly beautiful.
3. Their Tallest at the time, during the early years of the second Era, was very sickly. Tallest Pop had contracted an immune system degenerative disease from an insect bite as a child. Many were surprised he survived to his current age. Pop is technology focused and desperately wishes to leave his hive with something positive to remember him by.
The Tenno: None of the tenno, when they first arrive, have the Post War Within Abilities as they arrive and get stranded during the midst of the Old War.
Volt: Volt's tenno is a mother Hen of a young man. He is always nagging his partners to take better care of themselves but never listens to his own advice. Tye often overworks himself and, to the surprise of the Orokin, has run his frame into a low power state. Tye loves his Kubrow Icarus or Icky for short. His name is Tye and he specializes in offensive guerrilla tactics. Tye is Wren's twin.
Mirage: Mira is Mirage's Tenno, She is blind outside her frame, and severely near sighted in Mirage. Mira often jokes about her eyesight and her frame ever has a device simular to glasses. She is the joking type and often jolly and positive in any situation. Loves plushies. Mira specializes in Stealth missions and Crowd control.
Octavia: Wren, Octavia's Tenno, is impulsive and reckless. They adore music and make a new song on their Mandachord every chance they get. A Punk rocker at heart, Wren does not like being ordered to do things, but listens to Tye more often than anyone else. Wren is Tye's twin and specializes in defense and distractions.
The full idea:
Sometime in the middle of Pop's reign in this tiny Hive Pop began a personal project with his favorite drones. All friends from his smeethood, the group of 4 sought to find away to safely and reliably through the jungle to initiate trade.
Their experiments discovered a strange space between space. Curious and thrilled they could possibly move untouched through this Void, Pop and his friends dove into research and testing.
Before long they believed they had a path for their carts to traverse. But before the first drones could go the systems they were using to hold the portal steady instead glitches.
Someone, the Man in the Wall, had seen them and decided to send 3 tenno who were currently working in the Void to the Irkens. To see what happened. It threw Tye, Mira, and Wren through the portal, armed to the teeth, then shut the way behind them.
Wren, being the Defense expert, quickly realizes they are not under attack, and that these people are as confused and scared as them.
Once informed of this Tye and Mira disarm with Wren and Tye initiates contact
It takes time to get over the language barrier but they manage to do so
Pop explains what his goal had been
In turn Tye, Mira and Wren explain a little about the Void.
"Look, it sounds nice to use the Void to travel but... ah. Personal experience states otherwise. Don't." Is all Tye has to say in regards to Void travel.
Pop doesn't want to give up though, and the Void has been the only option the tiny Hive has had to travel for a Loooong time.
I want to be clear they do not know the Tenno are not their Warframes, the Hive assumes the tenno are a race of Biomechanical individuals with strange powers
Through a series of events I haven't fully figured out the Hive gets drones, suits and animal companions simular to what the Tenno had
The Hive finally makes a track through their jungle of terror, reaching the outside world and establishes a trade route and relations with others
Many Hives are astounded by Hive Tenno (When asked the name of their Hive a Warrior panicked and called themselves Hive Tenno) their tech was beyond any other Hive at the time
Collapsible weapons, Power armor suits with built in illusions, pet monsters no other would even try to tame!
Many Hives near the jungle fought to either ally with Hive Tenno, or steal their tech, they all failed to muscle their ways in
And to top it off, Tallests of all genders vied for Pop's hand to merge armies. Pop refused them all, dedicated solely to building his Hive to a level of comfort they didn't have before
All the while the Tenno remained hidden
The three remained with Hive Tenno (Wren thought the name was hilarious) but they never joined any battlefield nor any talks. All tech gained from their help was kept under tight guard
And the existence of the Tenno themselves kept themselves a secret from all but Hive members.
Pop lived an unexpectedly long life for how sickly he was. Before he died the last law he set, one that no tallest of the Hive would over turn, was for the Tenno to have Veto rights and be included in all major Hive decisions. But more so, that they were Citizens of the Hive, to be treated not as outsiders or weapons, but fellow Irkens
Becoming citizens the Tennongot to pick up careers and hobbies while maintaining their duties to the Hive
Tye chose to work with smeets and the Animals the Hive had tamed. Teaching the youngest and ensuring they lived healthy, happy lives, and ensuring all who wanted one had a loyal animal companion like his Kubrow. It was a job made for Tye.
Wren took to the kitchens, cooking and creating in a way they hadn't ever been able to. While they adored their music, it was all they were allowed to do for so long, they took to cooking and baking like fish to water.
Mira bounced about between jobs and hobbies often. A jack of all trades, Master of None, she happily filled what ever job she was needed for.
The Hive flourished and expanded throughout the second Era. But as the Final world War came Hive Tenno feared
By then the three were beloved members of their community, but with impending destruction on the horizon, the three tenno were reluctantly and without anyone asking, preparing to wage war against the world for their new home.
The Hive closed their borders, helping pull the jungle back into a wall of carnivorous plants and furious predators they hand raised. But it wasn't enough
The war still came, and while their tech was still ahead of the crowd's own, they had to fight hard to remain and the Tenno were going to show themselves as the weapons the Orokin had told then they were. The Hive mourned their friends and family as they prepared
Then a scientist had an idea
The Hive took to the stars. Separating the jungle and the entirety of their subterranean Hive from the ground of Irk, Hive Tenno flew off in a bubble to find a new home far far away from irk
Centuries down the line the long hidden Hive would be found, settled neatly in a mountain valley on a distant planet by the Resisty.
Hive Tenno changed in the time between their departure from Irk and Modern time
The Vine and root patterns once uncommon was now a constant, each one glowed a blinding white. The antenna were far more varied, some resembling Jester hats, Others Horns, and others still had multiple antenna sprouting from the same base.
The tech of modern Hive Tenno is still ahead of the rest of their race. The Suits they first built were more intense, much closer to the Warframes The Tenno inhabited
The animals they raised were so loyal now, many left their smeets in the care of their family unit's pet.
And the Tenno themselves had gotten some upgrades.
The Hive found a way for the Tenno to use their transference to inhabit special tube born Irken bodies. Empty bodies with a small special Pak for the Tenno. They could, eat, live, breath and leave the Second Dream at will. Wren was in their Irken body the most, with Mira preferring her warframe mostly.
Hey! Sorry it's long! If yall like it I'll expand more in another post!
How do the ROs act when jealous crushing and in a relationship?
While crushing, August becomes withdrawn when jealous. They're quieter, but when they speak it's somewhat aggressive and brash. They internally scold themselves because they know they're being unfair, but they can't stop.
Blair? Jealous? It's more likely than you think, except they're not giving anything away. Their jaw may clench slightly more than normal, but otherwise there's no indication they're jealous. They'll dismiss themselves quickly and distance from you because they believe they're not allowed to feel that way about you.
If someone is flirting with you or you're flirting with them, Wren relentlessly teases them. They absolutely destroy the person with roast after roast. When they're not annihilating the source of their jealousy, they're flirting with you even more than usual. They find their jealousy amusing and wear a massive grin the entire time.
Neve's impossibly quieter and more reserved. Their meek personality amplifies; they avoid your gaze and quickly find a reason to excuse themselves. They know you're not interested, they know you're far out of their league, yet they feel gutted.
In a relationship, August's leg jitters and their jaw is clenched. They desperately encourage you to leave the space you're in because they want you all alone. They hover around you for the rest
Blair watches you closely seemingly disinterested; raising a brow if you glance at them almost in challenge. They show no outward reaction, but you can feel their eyes on you. If you're into it, they'll teach you a lesson later 👀
Wren's hands are on you, providing you're comfortable with physical touch. They do everything they can to keep your attention on them; whispering sweet nothings in your ear, gliding their hands around your body. They'll glare at anyone who dares interrupt you or walk within their eyesight.
Neve is by your side and never strays far. They're very meek, and you can almost see them slowly returning to their shell. They'll shyly ask to talk in private, and they'll timidly express their feelings of jealousy in hopes you can reassure them.
18/01/24: Log 4- Static Pulse
This is going to just be a quick (or quicker) update but I had to share some progress because I am absolutely geeking out right now! I have been very arduously chipping away at various rooms in the house plan and I feel like I have finally finished (most of) Wren's room! The renders look awesome so I feel compelled to share them:
Tumblr media
This is Wren's bedroom! Despite it's deceptively simple appearance, I have tried to include a lot of little pieces of character here (notice all the teacups and books laying about...)
Tumblr media
Wren's desk space is one of the areas of the house that clash with Dalia's more minimalist aesthetic (or earthy aesthetic in terms of her study, which I will discuss in a later update). The shelves are filled with knick-knacks he acquired growing up, either ones he asked his mum to buy for him (mostly the bunny ones) or ones he was gifted. The top shelf might have filled up too if not for his stasis....
His mother gave him the painting as she thought it would match the rest of his furniture (they started with a couple of brown furniture items and eventually the colour overtook the room a little).
Tumblr media
This is Wren's en suite bathroom! You can really tell that his mother styled it and he didn't really feel the need to change it. I couldn't resist adding the duckie bath mat though, I found it too adorable and I'm sure Wren would as well! The shower stool is another important addition, which I had to jump through hoops a little to make happen. It was an absolute necessity back when Wren's health was really bad, and he could neither climb into the bath nor stand up in the shower, and he still uses it from time to time.
(Also, please pretend that I had the ability to edit the window pane and that there is privacy/frosted glass there. Even if he lives in a secluded estate I doubt Wren would feel comfortable taking a bath out in the open like this lmao.)
As a final bonus, take some renders of the kitchen!
It took a lot of effort for me to refrain from adding cool appliances, spices and such, as Dalia's aesthetics call for any appliances that aren't there for guests to gawk at to be cleanly stored in the cupboards. (That front counter was also a massive pain as it's actually two counters and two countertops, but I won't get into that story...)
That's it for today! I have made a lot of progress on this house but still have a looooong way to go, so wish me luck!💪✨
Sparrow, Wren, and Finch Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Kurt woke the next morning feeling that wonderful soreness that only comes from working muscles you have neglected for far  too long. Their sexlife had been anything but lacking, but it had been entirely too long since they had the time or space to indulge in each other for hours on end, to be able to completely lose themselves in each other.
Kurt arched his back, meeting the sturdy body of his lover. He hummed as their skin brushed.
“Can we freeze time and stay here for a while?” Kurt asked as he felt kisses pepper down his neck.
“It would be nice, wouldn’t it?” Blaine said and his hands began to explore. “If the world could just stop and we could be this carefree for a while.”
Kurt smiled and rolled over facing his husband. “Don’t get me wrong, I love our life; but sometimes I just want it to be you and me and nothing else. I don’t want to miss anything though. Why can’t we have both?”
Blaine kissed him softly, “We can, and we do. We just need to be better about keeping our room our haven.”
“Until then, let's make the most of the time we have.” Kurt proposed.
Blaine pulled Kurt closer, “Check out is at eleven,”
They barely made it out of the room before their check out time and Kurt couldn’t help giggling as they left the front desk. “What do we do now?”
“Well we only have a little while before we have to be at the airport,” Blaine began, “but there was something I wanted to show you.”
“Do tell,” Kurt said, intrigued.
Blaine smiled, “I wanted to show you yesterday but I didn’t think you were up for it before dinner and well after--”
“After, I think we had other things on our minds,” Kurt finished where Blaine trailed off.
Blaine led as they walked down the sidewalk. It was nice walking along the unfamiliar street, arm in arm with his husband. At that moment Kurt felt like he didn’t have a care in the world. They soon made it to a small greenspace in front of a massive building. Kurt’s eyes were drawn to a white marble statue in the middle. He was a little surprised when Blaine led him towards it. As they drew closer, Kurt gave a small gasp. There etched into stone was his mother. It was unmistakably her. The artist had captured The Angel perfectly down to the very last detail. It made Kurt’s heart ache to realize just how much taller he was than her. The life sized statue barely reached his chin.
The Mandalorian Season 3 Premiere Just Connected Star Wars: Rebels With Ahsoka!
Tumblr media
The show responsible for reviving the Star Wars franchise on television is back with its 3rd season. The Mandalorian season 3 premiere was keenly anticipated by audiences everywhere, and I’m glad to say the episode did not disappoint. While continuing the story from those 2 random episodes of The Book Of Boba Fett where The Mandalorian basically took over, season 3 starts with a bang! But the show isn’t just the first of many awesome Star Wars shows, it’s the beginning of an interconnected Star Wars universe within Disney+. Not to mention connecting existing Star Wars stories from before, within its narrative and world-building. One of those huge connections comes in the first half of The Mandalorian season 3 premiere, when it connects the animated Star Wars: Rebels to the upcoming live-action Ahsoka series! Read on to find out how and what this really means for Ahsoka. Please note that the following will contain massive spoilers for both seasons of The Mandalorian, as well as its season 3 premiere. The Mandalorian Brought A Lot Of The Clones Wars To Live Action While The Mandalorian originally started as a standalone new original story set in Star Wars, there were still ample connections to the larger universe. The connections amplified in season 2 with the mention of Jedis, and live-action debuts of characters from the animated Clone Wars series, like Bo-Katan (Katee Sackoff) and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). Not to mention the concepts of Mandalore from that series as well. Season 2 ended with a massive reveal as a post-Return Of The Jedi Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) appeared to begin Grogu’s Jedi training. Most interestingly, the show spun off two new series with The Book Of Boba Fett and the upcoming Ashoka. While Boba Fett didn’t really get fans clamouring due to its— let’s say ‘meh’—storylines, the anticipation for Ahsoka couldn’t be higher. Her appearance in season 2 tied into what could potentially be the plot of her series; her search for Ezra Bridger. But, some context first to make this make sense. How Ahsoka’s Live-Action Debut Ties Into Star Wars: Rebels In season 2, we learned that Ahsoka had been searching for someone. That someone was revealed as Grand Admiral Thrawn. While casual viewers of The Mandalorian season 3 premiere might not know who he is, Star Wars: Rebels and novels fans absolutely will. Thrawn was the main baddie of Rebels, and the series ended with the hero, Ezra Bridger and Thrawn, getting sucked into hyperspace and ending up lost in space. Star Wars: Rebels ends with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the Ahsoka series) going off to search for and find Ezra. Many think that this is going to be the main storyline for the Ahsoka series. The search for Ezra Bridger. And given that Ezra and Thrawn were last seen together, Ahsoka looking for Thrawn in The Mandalorian gives even more credence to that theory. While no one has really confirmed what the Ahsoka series will be about, we just got a huge potential confirmation in The Mandalorian season 3 premiere! The Mandalorian Season 3 Premiere Has A Dino Fight And Whales Season 3 of The Mandalorian starts with a ceremony seemingly inducting a new Mandalorian youngling, into The Way. As a pre-teen boy gets his first helmet and swears his oath, a water creature out of nowhere appears and attacks the group. Eventually, Din (Pedro Pascal) and Gorgu show up to save the day. After Din has a conversation with the Armourer (Emily Swallow), he flies off to redeem himself for taking off his helmet in season 2 and becoming a Mandalorian once again. While in hyperspace, we see Grogu and Din napping as the ship, seemingly autopilots them to their destination. Grogu awakes and looks around him. And to his amazement, and possibly fear, he faintly sees a creature travelling beside them, amidst the stares. As the shot changes, we clearly see a shadowy massive whale-like creature beside their ship. In hyperspace! Another shot then reveals even more of them, flying through space, alongside Din and Grogu! How The Mandalorian Season 3 Premiere Connects Directly To Rebels & Ahsoka These are clearly Purgill! Purgill are creatures introduced and have only ever appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. They are basically space whales, with tentacles. They are mild and unobtrusive unless attacked. And they fly through space and can go into hyperspace as well. In an earlier episode of the series, Ezra Bridger protects them from attack and helps them survive. He develops a connection with them using the Force. In the last episode of the Rebels series, it’s these creatures that he calls on for help. The Purgill help Ezra and our heroes turn the tide against the Empire, and it’s with these creatures that Ezra and Thrawn fly off into hyperspace and become lost to the distance of space. Their appearance in The Mandalorian season 3 premiere in such a throwaway and brief way, can only mean that they’ll play a bigger part later on. If not in The Mandalorian, but most probably in Ahsoka. It feels like a way to ease in casual viewers, but also Star Wars superfans, into the idea of these space travelling creatures. Especially if Ahsoka is going to feature them, at least in the context of how they were responsible for Ezra and Thrawn’s disappearance. It was definitely a point and scream at the TV moment when they appeared, which I suspect was intentional. The Mandalorian season 3 premiere is now streaming on Disney+ Did you catch the first live-action appearance of the Purgill? Are you excited about what it means for Ahsoka?
