In order of nothing with added details no one asked for because I can't do anything without rambling on forever and I could talk about all these shows for literal hours (ask me to please, I'd love to):

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: My chaotic comfort show. Been watching for years and years and its always good for some stupid laughs at crazy insane horrible people doing the most whack ass shit imaginable. And like so many episodes so like endless watchability.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: Watched for the first time in Aug 2020 and while it isn't currently as severe a hyperfixation and obsession as it was when I first watched it, its leveled out to a more stable and steady love and appreciation and like come on, the fandom is great. Ya'll are the best.

In the Flesh: This show is beautiful and heartbreaking and has a permanent place in my heart. I end up rewatching it basically every year just because I just have to. It always makes me cry.

Dead Like Me/Pushing Daisies/Hannibal: I'm just going to combine all three of these Bryan Fuller masterpieces that were all cancelled too soon to be fair. All of them are special in their own way and I adore the unique comedy, the snappy and intelligent dialogue, the irreverent and unique takes on death, and the eccentric and wild characters. (I never finished Wonderfalls, the other main Bryan Fuller show, so its not on the list sorry lol).

The Good Place: Such a good show. I went into it the first watched through (back when it was just the first season out) and had no idea what to expect and it just... I mean if you've seen it you know what the first season puts you through... and what looks like a silly dumb show about dumb bad people in the afterlife becomes this wonderful show about humans learning and growing and changing even after their lives are over. It's about our duty to be kind and understanding to other people, about finding ways to live with the gray parts of morality. A comedy show that talks about ethics and moral philosophy throughout the whole show without it feeling like a big boring slog. And ends in such a beautiful way that makes my heart ache and makes me cry just remembering it.

Community: This show is great. It's hilarious. I love the characters. I love the like theme episodes and dumb comedy and the catch phrases and wacky nonsense. It's just fun and great.

Schitt's Creek: This is a show that's just fun to stick on in the background now that I've rewatched like multiple times and know the whole story. I love seeing the characters grow and learn and get closer to each other. The way that they love each other as a family and end up spreading that love to the town, how they find their places and its just a beautiful, silly, and heartwarming show. (Will never be over the loss of Ted and Alexis. They were so special together.)

Tied for the final place: Parks and Recreation, Merlin, Doctor Who: These are shows that had a major impact on me, but I haven't actually rewatched in a few years. I used to do so many watches of Parks and Rec and I still have a love for the show and Benslie is a true OTP. Merlin is great and I'll rewatch episodes here and there but it can be a bit of a slog getting through entire seasons especially knowing how it all ends (😭). And Doctor Who, I'll say probably was the show that made me end up here (on tumblr). I watched in 2012, freshman year of college not really knowing anything about fandoms or like forum places like this, ended up on Instagram to check out more Doctor Who pics and memes and saw a ton of screenshots of tumblr and then finally gave in to make my own account in 2013. And now it's 10 years later and I'm a disaster. So thanks a lot Doctor Who...

my favorite female character: Maeby (except for the whole incest plotline which we're going to ignore for now) and Ann, especially in the later seasons where she becomes a bit more self-possessed.

my favorite male character: George Oscar Bluth III blorbo of all time

my favorite book/season/etc: Season two, I feel like it's kind of the classic era of the show where it had found its footing but before the mess of the later seasons.

my favorite episode (if its a tv show): Good Grief is an excellent one, especially since it's the start of the Charlie Brown running gag

my favorite cast member: Will Arnett is on my endless list of celebrity crushes. Shout out to him also doing incredible work in Bojack Horseman, Ratatouille, and a series of terrible movies from the 2000s. Oh, and Our Flag Means Death. And Murderville. You know what, shout out to everything he's ever done.

my favorite ship: There is not a single good relationship in this show but I guess it's Blunder.

a character I’d die defending: I would really like to protect Ann from all the full grown adults who are just making fun of her and criticizing her all the time for her appearance and not having the strongest personality... I'm not a huge fan of some of the hyperreligous stuff (like the music burning etc) but I would like to headcanon that she grows out of that since she seems to have a good head on her shoulders in her final appearance, and she was just a teenager growing up in a super religous household when all that happened. Regardless, she seems like a nice, if misguided, character who didn't deserve to be treated that way by everybody.

a character I just can’t sympathize with: I'm not a big fan of Michael? I know everybody else is just as bad if not significantly worse, but the way they play Michael's character doesn't really work with me. I also have a lot of trouble stomaching George Sr since the Jeffrey Tambor stuff happened.

a character I grew to love: I can't think of any so I'm going to use this space to shout out Lucille, who I didn't mention in the fave characters section. Obviously she's a terrible person but Jessica Walter is so funny and iconic, and the writing for Lucille is also great.

my anti otp: George Michael and Maeby, for obvious reasons. Also, idk, everybody? Like I said, no good relationships in this show.

Buffy Summers for the ask meme!

Why I like them: I mean she’s one of my three favorite characters of all time (it’s a horizontal list where they’re all at the number 1 spot) there’s endless things I love about her and I love basically every single thing about her. But if I am ask to pick certain things off the top of my head in this exact moment of time, I love how loving and empathetic and loyal she is and that she’s all these things while also being someone who very much shuts down / detaches / takes the stoic role when dealing with a lot of hardships which sounds weird but I like that while she detaches to cope with trauma that clearly doesn’t make her not a warm hearted person (some people would say otherwise but they are very stupid). I love that she’s heroic and pure of heart but also is a chosen one character with a lot of nuances that a teenaged girl would have and always has interesting things to overcome. I love how funny and witty she is, and she’s just adorable and perfect

Why I don’t: she can be racist in a very 90’s white valley girl type way, I mean Joss is to blame but she does act realistically for a white girl with her upbringing with her treatment of Kendra and her rhetoric in Restless, to give some examples. Bar that there’s really nothing I dislike about her

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Earshot and Helpless, Lie To Me, Buffy vs Dracula, Checkpoint, Life Serial. Oh and When She Was Bad. They all fit certain Niches of Buffy Character Work I Personally Am Enamored By.

Favorite season/movie: s5-6 I love her story with Dawn in s5 and her depression arc throughout both seasons

Favorite line: “I wanna date, hang out, go shopping and save the world from unspeakable demons. You know, I wanna do girly stuff." Is one I have a lot of affection for out of Buffy fun quotes. for emotional Buffy speeches The Gift makes me cry every time, and the her speech to the potentials in Bring on the Night is great

Favorite outfit: everything she wears in Buffy vs Dracula is important to me don’t ask me to explain why. her ensemble in Checkpoint is one that’s very quintessentially Buffy to me, her look in Beneath You which is a mostly terrible episode but the Blue top and choker is stunning on her. I love her cherry print dress in Restless. there are others that will come to me later

OTP: Faith Spike Cordelia Tara are my fav pairings for her but there are plenty of other characters I ship her with sometimes (most women on the show to some extent lol)

Brotp: Giles!, Willow although I sometimes like them romantically too. I enjoyed her dynamic with Oz whenever they had a rare scene

Head Canon: I do like to think she got to go back to college since she seemed to really enjoy and thrive in it, idk what I see her majoring in it’s sort of a fun concept to think of her actually doing psych or sociology. And also taking some film and poetry classes on the side (yes I am not immune to the latter spuffy fic trope). Oh and that she’s bisexual but that is basically canon

Unpopular opinion: I guess that she’s my favorite character on the show which is somewhat unpopular.

A wish: I mean I wish she hadn’t been sexually assaulted so often over the course of the show. I also wish she’d realized Anya is right and she deserves to be paid

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: can’t think of one rn

1. Who laughs at their own joke and who deadpans at the joke?

I will get the obvious statements out of the way first; Sylvia laughs at any thing and anyone, even things that aren’t funny because I suppose clowns are just wired that way. Hendrik laughs at nothing (minus puns involving horses) while Jasper also laughs at nothing save for his own rare jokes, usually ones he makes at Hendrik or Sylvia’s expense (to which Sylvia also finds astoundingly hilarious).

2. If they had a secret handshake, how would it go?

Jasper and Sylvia would have elaborate ones that go very poorly whenever uncoordinated Hendrik attempts to join. Plus Jasper would be a huge fan of offering his hand and then moving it quickly outta the way just to run it through his hair.

3. It’s movie night, what movies are they gonna watch together?

Romances, art nouveau, and horse films. Hopefully they’ll eventually find the perfect film that’s a combination of all three.

4. It’s time to name their pet they adopted together, who gets to name it? How do they come to this decision?

I wanna say Jasper propositions that his chosen names are the best, the most sophisticated… whether or not that’s actually true is up for debate. Think prominent historical figures, famous knights, expensive jewels and brands, etc. Any pet of his deserves a dignified name.

5. Who would they love to go on a double date with?

Obsidian and Margarita (alternatively Jade and Serena)

6. Who wakes the other up in the morning? How do they wake them up?

I like to imagine Sylv is the earliest riser (no coffee required, just their peppy spirit and some morning yoga). Definitely wakes the others up by jumping on the bed and bestowing an endless flurry of kisses. Whereas Hendrik sleeps like a log and sets his alarm to snooze at least 10 times before falling back asleep. Jasper is the biggest night owl between all of them, and possibly an even worse morning person than Hendrik, especially when his cat Diamond wakes him up screaming because she’s hungry—so with that and his other habits I imagine he sleeps the least.

7. How do they celebrate Halloween?

I will simply use this as an excuse to plug my Sylvendrik fic from Halloween right here.

8. Who is more likely to call their partner ‘dude’?

Sylvia (or Hendrik once Sylv teaches him that “Dude” is a formal way to say “comrade” in Puerto Valor).

9. During a thunderstorm how do they react? Is one scared? Do they both love it? Do they take pictures? ECT.

They stay indoors and drink wine (and cuddle up with a few books and each-other). Hendrik is ill suited for this kind of whether, so the other two tend to stay nearby even when he doesn’t vocally express any discomfort.

10. Who would looking lovingly at their partner and call them ‘idiot’?

Jasper and Sylvia for sure.

11. It’s time to get groceries, who likes to look at everything and who just wants to power through and get everything done so they can go back home?

Hendrik has a carefully constructed plan of action and the entire store mapped out and memorized complete with a handwritten essentials list, but Jasper is taking his time in the booze and cereal isles while Sylvia rides along in the cart and gossips with every employee he shares glances with.

12. Who is more likely to make a mess in the kitchen?

Hendrik, back from his organized grocery store operation, cannot cook anything to save his life. When he isn’t burning things or adding too much salt, their dinner ingredients are strewn about the kitchen.

13. Who likes to try to prank their partner?

I don’t think the answer to this one needs an explanation but can we say Sylvia please. Not necessarily a prank, but dragging the other two to perform a three-man circus act is definitely an idea floating around in my brain at the moment. Sylvia’s “turn Hendrik’s axe into a teddy bear” trick from the chara book lives on in my heart. …I also have notes on a pre-game fic involving two knights forced on a dignitary trip to the circus that could definitely lead them astray and straight into Sylv’s (completely innocent) hands… but shh shh that’s top secret.

14. When scrolling on their phone, who is more likely to show their partner a cute picture/video of an animal?

Random animals he spots? Sylv. Pictures of his horse? Definitely Hendrik, he has hundreds of them—mostly poor quality, out of frame, and blurry ones. And a fed up Jasper is currently scouting Erdrea for a competent pet photographer so Hendrik might finally have legible photos of Obsidian… mostly for Jasper’s own peace of mind but it is a rather sweet gesture.

15. Who causes the tomfoolery and who has to try and stop the tomfoolery?

My immediate response is Sylv of course—because duh, literal clown and certified pursuer or fun times—but if I’m being honest all three of them have their particular quirks that are an easy path to trouble. Sylvs has their fathomless energy, Jasper his intolerance for most things and (perhaps sometimes misplaced) grandiosity, and Hendrik is well… charmingly simple and bold. That’s probably at least part of why I enjoy them all so much: they have very distinctive traits as most characters tend to do, but writing them never feels boring, there’s just so many ways to shake things up. I LOVE MY OLD MEN. 💖

3. Most common argument?

Well, with both of them on the Justice League (at least when they’re older, anyway), it all comes down to safety. There’s always bound to be an argument when one of them gets hurt on a mission after making a stupid decision or risk. They love each other too much to see anything bad happen, and it tears them apart to see each other get injured.

Another common argument is over guilt. Whenever one of them is high strung, or stressed out, arguments about the Reach tend to come up. Jaime still feels guilty over all of the things he was forced to do while on mode, and to an extent, he feels responsible for everything that’s happened to Bart in his past as well. Despite the numerous times Bart’s assured him that Jaime wasn’t in control, and that he’s not the same Blue Beetle that was responsible for the destruction of earth in Bart’s timeline, Jaime just can’t get rid of the feeling.

On the flip side, Bart definitely feels survivor’s guilt from time to time. And these feelings absolutely do not help when he and Jaime are already in an argument over other Reach-related issues. Bart feels somewhat guilty that he was the only one that was allowed to escape the original time he comes from. He feels guilty that he had to leave everyone else who was suffering behind, even if it was to end that suffering. And there’s a small part of Bart that always wonders whether he actually accomplished his goal. Does his original timeline still exist? And if so, did he prevent the death and destruction he knew would come if the Reach wasn’t stopped?

4. Favorite non-sexual activity?

Tag in the El Paso desert. Jaime suits up and uses his jet pack, and Bart uses his super speed. They head out from Jaime’s house just before sunset, and by the time they get to the desert, the sun will just be touching down behind the mountains. They chase each other across the dunes until the stars come out, and the sky is too dark for them to see more than a few feet in front of themselves. Then they collapse in the sand, side by side, and curl into one another, dirt sticking to their skin with sweat, and catching in their hair, but neither one of them care, because they love each other, and a little dust isn’t going to change that.

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?

Jaime loves Bart’s eyes. He loves how expressive they get, and how he can tell exactly what his partner is thinking, or feeling, just by making eye contact. Whenever Bart’s happy, or the sun hits them just right, his eyes get brighter, almost as if he has chloroplasts hidden behind his irises. When Bart’s upset, or it’s a more gloomy day, his eyes darken and harden like jade, and it takes a little coaxing from Jaime before they go soft again, sometimes with tears, like the ocean during a storm. When he’s angry, Bart’s eyes turn electric, and Jaime knows he has to be careful, because while lightning can be interesting to observe from a distance, the closer you get, the more dangerous it becomes.

Bart loves Jaime’s shoulders and back. He likes how muscular his boyfriend is, and isn’t shy about bragging to others and complimenting Jaime on his physique. Because of the scarab embedded in his spine, Bart knows that Jaime has chronic back problems and pains, and one thing they both enjoy is when Bart offers to give him massages. Bart gets an opportunity to admire all of Jaime’s musculature, and Jaime of course, gets a grade-A massage (the bonus of having a speedster for a boyfriend is that Bart vibrates his hands during these massages, which feels absolutely heavenly).

8. Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?

Bart almost exclusively refers to Jaime as ‘Babe’ once they start dating. ‘Blue’ is also pretty frequently used when they’re on missions, or whenever Jaime’s suited up. After hearing his boyfriend refer to Khaji Da as ‘bugsuit’, Bart took to affectionately calling the scarab ‘Buggy’. Khaji Da isn’t a fan of it at first, and constantly asked Jaime to tell Bart it was a stupid nickname, and to stop calling him it, but eventually, it grew on him, and now he’s happy whenever he hears Bart use the endearment.

Jaime, on the other hand, has nearly an endless list of nicknames for Bart. ‘Cariño’, ‘Amorcito’, and ‘Amor’ are the ones he most frequently uses, as well as ‘Marido’ once he and Bart get married, but a few others, such as ‘Novio’, ‘Querido’, ‘Corazón’, and ‘Bebe’, slip in from time to time. Jaime uses whatever Spanish nickname comes to the front of his mind in the moment, and while Bart doesn’t know the direct translations of most of them, he can at least recognize when Jaime’s using a term of affection for him.

17. Who says I love you first?

Jaime. And I think it’s because Bart’s afraid to admit it. Having grown up in the Reach Apocalypse like he did, I think Bart places more of an emphasis or importance on the word “love”. He knows what it means to lose someone that’s close to him (I’m assuming that his parents passed in his original time, which was why he was with Nathaniel). He knows what it means to have something you love snatched away from you, and that those losses hurt the most. So I think Bart’s a little afraid to actually admit that he loves Jaime, because if he doesn’t use the actual word, if something happens to Jaime, the loss will hurt less.

When he does say I love You for the first time, it’s because Bart knows that it won’t hurt any less losing Jaime than it would if he’d never said the words. He can’t deny that he loves Jaime any longer; he can’t deceive himself. And Bart figures that if he’s going to lose Jaime, he might as well let Jaime know that he was loved, rather than something happening, and Jaime being left to question Bart’s feelings for him.

26. What would be their theme song?

This one is hard 😅 I guess I gotta go with How Far We’ve Come by Matchbox Twenty. Bart came back in time to prevent Jaime from causing an apocalypse, and instead of taking the easy way out, he became friends (and lovers) with him, and they managed to stop the Reach together, despite all odds being against them. Their relationship has come a far way from what Bart knew it to be in his own time, and I think this song can be used as a good narrative for the journey Bart’s taken.

29. One headcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart

Bart still has nightmares about his own timeline. Most of them, unfortunately, involve the torture he was put through at the hands of the Reach. Because Jaime, or rather Blue Beetle, was the key player in bringing the Reach to earth back in Bart’s original time, Blue Beetle is also a recurring character in Bart’s nightmares. Whenever he wakes up from one of these night terrors, the first thing Jaime wants to do is comfort him, but because he (or his moded self) is often the cause of the bad dreams in the first place, Bart only gets more worked up when Jaime tries to help him.

For the next few days following a particular bad dream, Bart is skittish around Jaime whenever he’s suited up in the armor, despite knowing that Jaime is his boyfriend and would never hurt him. It’s something that’s just ingrained into Bart, having endured the type of childhood he had. He feels aweful, because he constantly tells Jaime that his tormentor from the future wasn’t him, but he can’t help reacting in ways that counter what he tells Jaime.

30. One headcanon about this OTP that mends it

Once they move in together, Bart and Jaime make it a priority to start and end each day with a kiss. The circumstances don’t matter. As soon as both of them wake up, they share a kiss, even if it’s just a brief peck before they get up. It doesn’t matter if one of them woke up late and has to get to work, or if they have morning breath, or whatever else might happen. They make sure that they begin each day the same, by expressing love for each other, even in this little way. And the same goes for when they’re preparing for bed. It doesn’t matter if they’re going to sleep in their bed, or if they doze off on the couch, or even if they had an argument earlier in the day, and are still a little miffed at each other. The kiss says that they love one another, and that even if they hit little bumps along the way throughout their relationship, their love for one another will prevail no matter what.

😍 What is your favorite fic trope?

If we’re sticking to Dark Content Brand TM here, then listen...I just never stop coming back to ‘bruce wayne is an abusive parent and also probably fucks his kids’. Delightfully horrible. Extremely excellent. Nudge Bruce just sliiightly to the left and he becomes the worst parent ever, while keeping most of his characterization.

And the endless options to chose from in which kid(s) he hurts and how! and how they all interact based on that! and who finds out and when! and what pieces of canon I can take and shift slightly to fit this new backstory, or not even have to shift at all!

At any given time, I am having three new ideas about bruce being a terrible father.

(If we’re going in the more general sense for tropes, then I just love extreme angst with a happy ending. I want my faves to be okay eventually but they gotta hurt first.)

🤷 What thing that your fandom loves do you just not “get”?

sdfghjk I could list so many little peeves and bits of fanon characterization that I Do Not Jive With and could probably do a whole ask meme about just that. But for now I will just say I’m not that into a/b/o! For reasons unclear to me, it seems super common in the DC fandom.

There’s some stuff in there that works for me, but a lot that doesn’t: I’m not personally into some of the common kinks involved, a lot of times I feel like characters have the entirety of their interesting characterization stripped away for very flat ‘big rough alpha’/‘whimpering weak omega’ archetypes (and ‘beta’ meaning ‘the writer does not care about this character’), and on occasion I feel like the playing with gender and fantasy worldbuilding just loops right back around to barely-modified old-school misogyny in a way that bugs me.

I definitely have enjoyed some PWP a/b/o fics nonetheless! But when I think of the one or two a/b/o fics that I found genuinely interesting and compelling as more than just horny content...I think they’re all deconstructions of the trope lmaosdgfhj. To each their own! But, yeah, I don’t really get it. 🤷

🏆 What do you wish more authors in your fandom would write about?

also so many things, and I could really just @ myself for half of these. (you all are permitted to yell at me to write any of these things.) More comics!titans content, especially the fab five! More terribad luthor/superman content where lex luthor is the horrible man he was meant to be! More terribad Tim/Ra’s, because for a dark pairing that seems to get talked about a lot, there’s really not that much actual dark fic for them! More preboot Roy Harper! More Cass and Steph and Barbara included in the batfam, and less Bruce-And-Four-Boys-Only. (I know I said I wasn’t going to lists peeves on the last question, but I get to slip in one, okay. The new52 and following reboots distorted so many things, and I think one of the worst things it did batfam-wise was convince everyone the batfam is Bruce And Sons And Maaaybe Barbara.)

Also, just in general, I think we could all stand to go back to the source material a little bit and draw from there again. (I definitely include myself in that!) It’s so so easy to just ping pong the same concepts back at each other, but sometimes I feel like we’re stagnating without new ideas. Some of my favorite (mostly not dark) fics I’ve read are really clearly pulling from distinct comic refs, and it lends a grounding and history to the characters that I really enjoy.

💏 Who is your OTP?

You know, I wrote like five answers to this question before realizing that I just don’t think I can answer it. Honestly, it’s very rare for me to strongly ship anything in the sweet/romantic sense. Technically I could say RoyDick for this because they currently are one of those rare cases (and when I was reading NTT I really did love DickKory), but that feels misleading because I rarely-to-never seek out shipfic. I mostly go by individual characters I’m invested in!

When it comes to darkfic (because that is what I made this account for), there are some classic combos that work well--Slade/Dick, Ra’s/Tim, Bruce/all his children--but still, I go a lot more for “which character do I want to see cry today” than seeking out pairings. I do get excited every time there’s a new BruTim darkfic posted!! But, still, I feel like that’s more “I want to see Tim cry in this specific way” than something I’d classify as an OTP. Character >>>> Ship for me every time.

😭 Has a fic ever left you inconsolable?

Sometimes I read a fic where everything is awful to the bitter end and ends hopelessly, but I find myself consciously pulling away from those fics when I sense where they’re going specifically to avoid this. Which I guess implies the answer to this is a firm yes before I learned to do that, but GOD if I can remember which fics they were.

(The only fic I can remember atm that made me uncontrollably cry is ‘the gentle sin is this’ which is actually a largely sweet fic that ends on a decidedly happy note! and also is a neither dark nor taboo roy/dick fic that in no way resembles any of the content anyone here followed me for! so do what you will with that ig????)

This fic holds my heart forever by giving Fenris nickname “Goose” and having both Bethany and Carver in it.

‘Love is a farm in Ferelden’ - maybe the sweetest and fluffiest work of fanfiction created by the wonderful  Shinkshinkshink  and JenniferHawke on FF.net (sadly unfinished). https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9161497/1/Love-is-a-Farm-in-Ferelden  An AU set 3 years before the blight chases the Hawke family away from Lothering, with Fenris finding his way to this small town in search of refuge. Aw! I literally never check my ask box so this might have been sent 100 years ago but I’m so touched! I’ve also had a pretty stressful last few days so I’ll jump at the opportunity to think positively. :)

Things that make me happy:

Podfic! Lately my attention span to do reading has been basically non-existent, so I love love love listening to podfic! I’m currently listening to Turn by saras_girl read by @mab-speaks and getting my entire life to it.

My dog. His name is Melvin and he’s an old black Lab and he’s really just the best. His dad is pretty great too.

Nice weather. It was gorgeous outside today and so I worked outside for a few hours.

Tumblr and social media in general. I like how you can curate spaces that are healthy if you work hard at it. I like to be able to connect with friends even during social distancing, and also to have an escape where I can think about my OTPs or memes, etc.

Fandom in general. Honestly I’m fairly new to it, particularly compared to other people my age. I thought I just didn’t like fiction for a really long time in my life. Turns out I just didn’t like certain kinds of fiction, and that’s perfectly ok! I love how with fanfic that stories I love never really have to end, or that characters I love can lead seemingly endless lives. I also love positive fan communities! 💕
