Note

For the Descendants kids with horrible and trashy names, how would you name them? From books and movies.

So I'll just go ahead and give how I changed each name for My Canon Descendants AU, to make them feel more like their own character/fit better with the og movies time periods/cultures. I didn't give them all unique names as the point of the project was to translate the Descendants kids into the actual movies, not make full OCs, (though I did end up making a few of those anyway xD) but I tried to at least adjust them.

Mal--Mallow (to go with the Nature name theme the Three Good Fairies had going on with their own names/Briar Rose)

Audrey I kept as it was actually a Medieval name!

Evie-- Eva, it's a pretty easy fix to more period accurate/Germanic sounding

Doug -- Doleful, to fit better with the Dwarfs Attribute names, plus he seemed kinda down in the first movie so the meaning felt like it fit

Carlos I kept because honestly I felt like it could fit in universe if Cruella's husband was a Spanish man, which he conceivabley could be

Jay--Jaamil, and no not because of Twisted Wonderland that just happened by accident xD

They orginally had Aladdin's deleted sin be named Aziz but there was already an Aladdin character named that in the TV show who was a villain so I changed it to Ahmed, like one of the other Arabian Nights heroes

Ben--I changed from Benjamin to Benedict as that was more French/period appropriate

Honestly I could 100% see Gaston naming his sons after himself so I kept Gastons 1 and 2 but I changed Gil to Gilbert (French pronunciation of course)

Lonnie...oh Lonnie. I changed her name to Chi, as with her patronymic of Li she would be Li Chi, which sounded similar to Lonnie but would actually be Chinese and is the name of a girl in a Chinese legend who slays a dragon, which was what I based her hypothetical movie plot on

Chad I changed to Charles, easy enough. Much more elegant and formal

Jane I just changed to Janet to make it a little fancier/Frenchier as well xD

Dizzy I changed to Daisy (though I suppose since she's French based, it really should be Marguerite...eh Daisy can be the nickname)

Uma I kept cuz honestly its a good name and her song is a banger 👌

Harry is fine, good pirate name, short for Henry, which also works. Harriet was fine too, just made her and Harry twins and made CJ go by her first name only of Calista.

Honestly with a pirate dad named Smee Squeeky and Squirmy also work, though they're definitely nicknames.

Celia works fine, it fits with the time/culture of 1920s New Orleans, though I did change Freddie to Frederique.

Getting into some book characters now:

Artie I changed to Amhar, a lesser known son of Arthur (could have done Mordred but as the kid was meant to be heroic I decided to go with Amhar, plus it started with A x)

Mad Maddy honestly isn't a bad name, but I did change it to Matilda to be a bit more Medieval sounding, plus linked her to Matilda of the Night, a Medieval witch legend.

(And apparently there's gonna be a son of Morgana Le Fay in the new movie named... Morgie. My gosh. Well we'll change that right back to Yvain. Her actual son, no she's not Mordred's mother no matter what the movies try to tell you she's his aunt and I will die on this pedantic hill)

Hadie I instantly changed to Zagreus. He's the literal son of Hades and goodness its such a better name. Same with changing Herkie to Hyllus. Also an actual son of Hercules and doesn't sound like a euphemism for throwing up.

Allie I changed to Mary Jean after the Real Alice's grandaughter, and when I made my Queen of Hearts Kid D4 hadn't been announced yet so I named her Aceline (a pun on Ace of Hearts)

Ruby and Anxelin weren't terrible names so I kept them, just made Anxelin a Dark Kingdom name xD (and apparently they're giving Rapunzel a third daughter in the new movie? Her name is just Zellie though...so I think I'll just keep these two. Zellie could definitely work as being short for Anxelin and hey, Rapunzel had twins in the actual fairytale so two just works)

Wrapping it up:

Claudine isnt too bad and fits the time period but I changed her parent from Frollo to his brother Jehan cuz that man should never ever get to be with any woman.

Clay Clayton I changed to Cecil after the actual Clayton character in the books who wasn't that bad of a guy.

Yzla works fine as a name for Yzma's daughter. I just changed Zevon to Yzon to match better and not sound so much like he escaped the 23rd century

Ginny Gothel I just lengthened out to Ginevra to sound more fantastical

I didn't actually do anything for Pocahontas as it always kinda controversial to touch. But if I did I'd of course just make her descendant her actual son Thomas Rolfe and apparently they gave Ratcliffe a son named Rick? So...we'll change his name to Richard or--well one sec let me see if Actual Historical Governor Ratcliffe had any kids.

OK! Looks like he didn't but he did die horribly. My Gosh.

Which OCs that are not yours do you most admire? What is it about that character that you find impressive or engaging?

Thank you for the ask! Also asked by Anon and their friend Another Anon.

"I like all of my mutuals' OCs and find much to admire in all of them" is the short answer. So I won't attempt to list every single OC of every single person I follow and why I admire them, otherwise this post would get even longer than it already will be.

I do particularly admire OCs whose creator has given me such a strong sense of their personality and character that I can envisage how they might respond in a given situation and imagine them doing so in their "voice", so to speak. Strong and distinctive characterisation is always impressive.

Some examples of such OCs include Satien of @nyarumi-nyan, Inxli of @pinxli, Mercer of @furys-mercy, Iris of @irisopranta, Briar of @briar-ffxiv or Shio of @the-littlest-kojin

I also admire OCs with a strong story arc in which I end up getting extremely invested. Characters who aren't preserved in narrative aspic and who grow and change and develop always impress me (I'm not too bad at explaining my OCs journey, but I don't exactly show it much).

Some examples here would be Fennie of @scholarlostintime, Naru of @blucifer08, Hali of @starrysnowdrop, Mizuki of @pumpkinmagekupo and Amon of @spotofmummery (yes for the purposes of this exercise Amon is an OC, don't quibble).

I admire originality (which is not to say I look down on anyone going with something obvious and enjoying the heck out of it) in OC creation - those that have a really unique background, or a highly distinctive voice, or simply represent something that I would never have the skill or creativity to even consider.

Some examples here are Kwas of @peddlestox-shinyrocks, Mari of @cadrenebula, Coconeja of @plenary-indulgence, Flower of @meepsthemiqo, Leo of @healersadjust or Faye of @fair-fae.

And OCs who just dazzle with the coherency of their design and the whole accompanying aesthetic. The kind of OCs who could never be mistaken for anyone else. I can only aspire to such polish and attention to detail.

A few examples of this would be Captain Kuro Solaire of @captainkurosolaire, Drac of @draculas-husband, Silvaineaux of @houserosaire, Bram of @miqomischief, Mirrim of @mirrim-the-moonfaerie or Ki'To of @humblemooncat.

As I say these are examples plucked from a very long list of potential candidates, I would be mortified if anyone were to think that I didn't admire their OC simply because they aren't mentioned here. I really enjoy all the OCs that people share and I never tire of learning more about them.

Although, as a final note, I ought to mention how much I admire Eisha of @umbralaether, for being incredibly well-designed and engaging as a character. Even if her creator does send me difficult Asks!

If you were to shuffle your main character ocs around and place them in different stories or worlds of yours, how different would they be or would they stay the same (for example: Elise in Nightlight and Jasper in Knell)?

That's a fun question. If we consider Elise in anything, she would take it all at face value. She's already in In Between, and a variant of her is Wren in Under an Ivy Crown. And her "ancestor" is Faye in Nightlight. I like variants of characters. She would adapt to any story. She's got that main character energy. Mary Sue energy. (Trashcharacterenergy)

Now if we consider more entertaining characters that isn't Elise, The Character from the Trash Bin, Jasper has been mentioned in Knell once....

Laurie would be an interesting one in more fantasy settings. She already thinks she sees a dead girl, what's more a story with ghosts and stuff. She'd be interesting in Knell. She doesn't have a gun or a bat to chase things away though. Maggie, being in the almighty Nightlight, she already connects to other stories.. It have to be a singular story like Knell, Wiccar Briar... I love Maggie too much for Knell, she'd do well in Wiccar Briar, or even my story Endworld! She'd be the same personality, could stay a halfling... but prolly more mature. Ramblerambleramble.......

I'm honestly not too sure how to answer this bc it's such a vague question for someone who has so many OCs lol (/nm). But, I'll try...

If we're going with original OCs, there are a few, like, non-fandom based ones I've been thinking of. They're all from a plot bunny I've had for over a year, about two li'l southern USA kids from the 80s who summon a demon... fun! :D

In the original, Noah Anderson is a wee farmboy, but I'm not sure how that would translate into LWA. There probably is magical agriculture, ig. Maybe like magic cows that give rainbow milk or something lol. He does seem focused on the animals in his work though, so maybe he goes into that in this AU? Working with magical creatures and whatnot? Magical vetinary?

Ruth Black seems like the kinda girl who'd research deities or astrology (and totally is not secretly doing black magic and demonology what are you talking about lol—)

Isiah Woodlock is the class clown and entertainer of his high school as is. I can see him going down the road of Chariot and Akko and going into magic shows.

For Mark Halls, I was trying to figure out how him being into sports (AKA good ol' murican football) would translate, and then I remembered American football exists so... Yeah. That.

And finally, my girl Mary-Anne Briar might go into magical textiles/fashion or something like that. Magically enhanced clothing. There is no in-universe translation for it as a hobby, so that's what we're going with!

I decided to draw some reference sheets for my agents/ocs so I wanted to post them here! Here is a quick rundown of everyone:

Ira/Agent 3/Captain:

Demigirl, They/Them, 15/17/22(Splatoon 1/2/3)

Laid-back and hardworking

Loves acting as the “cool and aloof mentor” but is actually a dork

As much of a Cuttlefish as Callie and Marie, thinks of them as older sisters and treats Cuttlefish with a lot of respect, lived with them when they became Agent 3, they moved out but they eventually moved back in again. They welcomed Ira back with open arms

Currently lives with the Squid Sisters in their apartment

Darby/Agent 4:

Trans guy, He/Him, 16/21

A social introvert with a heart of gold

Is the younger brother of Karla

Bro he has a little bit of anxiety

Was only in Inkopolis Square for a month due to school but had to leave. Is currently both studying and looking after his younger twin sisters at home

Doesn’t do a lot of agent work anymore due to his parents putting more pressure on him to study, which stresses him out

Karla/Agent 5:

Cis women, She/Her, 19/24

An enthusiastic social butterfly that loves teasing others

Is the older sister of Darby

Worked alongside Darby as Agents 4 and 5 due to seeing Darby go into a grate with a “mysterious and sketchy woman” so she was obviously worried. She learnt about the New Squidbeak Splatoon, got into a fight with Darby about him being Agent 4 but they did reconcile

As Agent 5, she mainly helped out Sheldon with gathering weapon data for his shop, which she managed to fully complete. Darby helped out when he was still in Inkopolis Square, but couldn’t after he moved back home. This took a few weeks to do.

Shares an apartment with Milo in Inkopolis Square, they get along very well

Has offered Darby her place to stay but he refused. She doesn’t know about their parents pressuring Darby to study, but she could definitely guess that it’s happening

Arien/Agent 8

Cis man, He/Him, 17/22

A stone-faced, stubborn amnesiac who just wants to relax

Has a big scar across his due to him failing tests, his are more recent than Milo’s

Intimidates people easily but is actually pretty chill

Works at Ammo Knights and is pretty content to work that job for life

He doesn’t know what to feel about Milo

Didn’t initially collect all of the mem cakes as Agent 8, but has since gone back and gotten them all, as well as having dealt with his “Inner Agent 3”

Really idolised Ira when they first met to the point of putting them on a pedestal, but has since worked on that and now views them as a close friend, although he still thinks they’re pretty cool

Moved to Splatsville for a change of pace, he actually offered Briar to come live with him after finding out that the newest NSS member was moving into Splatsville, but Briar declined, however they decided to move into the same apartment complex as him as neighbours instead

Milo/Agent 9

Nonbinary, They/Them, 20/25

A quiet amnesiac who keeps to themselves

Has a big scar across their back, like Arien’s but more faded, due to them failing tests

They only accompanied Arien in the Deepsea Metro. They didn't do a lot of tests with Arien. The reason they're called Agent 9 is due to Tartar calling them "Applicant 10,009"

Doesn’t speak or emote much but they’re slowing coming out of their shell

Was pretty much a zombie during their time in the Deepsea Metro so they don’t remember much.

They don’t remember anything prior to waking up and meeting Arien and Cuttlefish before they found Tartar and the rest of the Deepsea Metro. They don’t know if they want to

Is obsessed with humans and life before Inklings and Octolings

Lives with Karla in Inkopolis Square. Is really thankful that Karla offered them a place to stay, they’re really good friends

Feels like they’re drifting through life right now, although that might change when they wake up in an abandoned Inkopolis Square

Briar/Neo Agent 3

Agender, She/He/They, 16

A sassy smartass who is also a bit of a tsundere

Grew up in the Splatlands with Little Buddy/Pineapple, currently lives on the outskirts of Splatsville

Is partially fuzzy due to almost losing against Grizz but did win

Is actually working on how they act around others due to Ira’s influence and guidance

Does look up to Ira as a mentor but would rather be dead than her actually saying it to their face

Has a love-hate relationship regarding big clothes, sometimes he loves them, sometimes he hates them

Had no clue who Octavio was before Ira told them

Banned from Turf Wars and Anarchy Battles due to them being extremely ruthless in battle to the point of being violent. They actually started a wave of people using their weapons in an unintended way, which is also what got them banned

Loves messing around with Karla whenever she’s around, she also hangs out with Arien and he teaches her about things like social etiquette and living with others after having not done so before, like he’s talking from experience or something. He’s like a second mentor to Briar but not on the same level as Ira

To quickly explain the deal with Karla and Milo, I made them as Agents 4 and 8 when I decided to 100% Splatoon 2's single player and Octo Expansion. I got too attached to them however, and now they're actually in the story. In the story, Karla does get all of the weapon data for Sheldon, but Milo is not the one to get the mem cakes as it technically wouldn't count as Arien's mem cakes. Another thing I want to mention is that Milo's glasses partly change colour corresponding to a colour chip in Side Order.

Also yes, Milo is replacing Arien in my version of Side Order, it might give them more character development but we’ll see when the DLC releases. Some info may change over time however, I definitely want to post/draw more about them but I’ll see how this post does before I do anything.

The boys I once knew

Summery: After Henry was kidnapped by Greg and tamara and taken to neverland, the hero gang along with some of the known ‘villains’, and the girl that made her way into the hearts of said heroes, and just so happens to be the sister of a certain one-handed pirate. Kierra Jones was once on top of the world but something that happened in the past made her who she is today. During the curse she became Briar Mills the adopted sister of the feared Regina Mills, Mayor of Storybrook. Now being the only Aunt that Henry has she has to face her past, and with what she finds, she needs to save henry and all that she recovered from her past.

CHAPTER 1

I never thought that I would be able to see them again but standing here seeing them wanting to kill my friends and family, I wasn’t expecting this outcome.

“Bri watch out!” Regina called for me, making me see the lost boy that was aiming for my head. Ducking out of the way, I grabbed my twin blades that I got back from Killian, and made my way to the boy, knocking him in the head with the handle of the blades to make him unconscious.

“Where’s Henry! Where is he.” Emma yelled at a lost boy resulting in the fighting to stop and the lost boys retreating behind Pan.

“Remember what I told you. That map will show you where Henry is...only when you stop denying who you really are. I'll make sure to send Henry your regards.” Pan said, a heavy British accent was heard through every one that was there, a shiver was sent down my spine, as I hadn’t heard his voice in such a long time. I let out a breath that I didn’t realize I was holding as I stared at the lost boys retreating, an ache in my heart I could feel as they left.

“Are you okay?” Killian asked me on our way back to the camp his accent heavy as well but it had more of an Irish root, but it was more british.

“If I’m being honest, no.” I said blinking tears away my own British accent somewhat coming through my voice, I took off the scarf that I had covering my face so I could breathe better. “You know why, and what happened last time I saw them.” I whispered back.

“I know, I’m just making sure you were okay after seeing them.” He put an arm around my shoulders, and we kept walking to the camp. My mind wandering back to the two lost boys that had broken me.

Once there Emma, Regina, David, and Mary Margret kept trying to find a solution to Pan’s map riddle or went to get more supplies. I made my way to my hammock that I set up and sat in it. I thought back to the first time I came to this island, all those years ago.

“Killian, what the bloody hell happened out there?!” I shouted as he and some others in the crew made their way back onto the ship. At this point I was used to Killian’s foolishness, but that didn’t mean that I didn’t care for him.

“The boy that Liam and I ran into last time we were here ambushed us.” He replied.

“And I warned you, didn’t I?” I crossed my arms, giving him an I told you so voice.

“Aye, and I’m going to admit that I was wrong. Do you have a plan?” I could hear the urgency in his voice as we headed into his and my shared cabin.

“What age would you say those boys are?” I gave him a side glance.

“I don’t really know, but I’d say around 15-19.” He replied very uneasily.

“And surprisingly I still look around 18, even though I’m roughly 35,” I say as I give him a smirk.

“No, I know what your thinking, and No. I don’t want to loose another sibling.” He said. Hitting the table that him and I usually gathered at when we needed to thinking a plan.

“I’m not asking for your permission bubba, I am saying that It is probably an only option so we can get what we need.” I used his nickname that I, And only I could call him.

“Why do you always have to be so careless.” He said, Bringing me into his chest his arms wrapped around my body, as my head was rested into his chest.

Coming up for air, I made my way to the sandy beach in front of me, I then laid down, facing to the sky and closing my eyes.

“Well, what do we have here,” I sat up and turned around to see one of the most handsome boys I have ever laid eyes on. Blonde shagged hair, striking blue eyes, a scar that doesn’t make him less attractive, tall, and this wonderful aroma coming off of him. It was a mix of black cardamom, smoky vanilla, and a hint of musk.

“W-who are you.” I stuttered not realizing that aroma was making me flustered.

“I, beautiful am Felix second in command from pan, the leader here in neverland, which by the way is where you have just stepped foot. Follow me I’ll take you to him.”

“Why would I follow a person I just met?” I said regaining my composure.

“Because you’ll probably die without our help, this Island is a very dangerous place, especially for a girl like yourself.” Knowing my job I agreed.

We made our way through the forest, him leading the way. Doing my best to make sure the aroma wasn’t distracting me from my mission, but it was overwhelming my senses.

“Ah Felix, glad you could bring our guest safely into my hands,” I heard a stern voice, it wasn’t to deep, but it was still a heavenly sound that sent shivers down my spine. Turning around I found myself staring at another boy that was equally as handsome as the first boy Felix, this one was dressed in green, green eyes that could do anything to me and I would still be lost in them, he wasn’t as tall as Felix, but he was still a little taller than me, and then another amazing aroma hit me, aromatic sage, dark tonka bean, rich sandalwood, and a hint of musk again. Both scents caused me to get overwhelmed and I blacked out.

“The map is working, we know were Henry is.” Emma shouted taking me out of my flashback, the scents that I remembered still lingering in my mind.

With a little conversation between the group, We made our way to the south end of the island, where we were shown. On the way there I could smell those scents, but only subtly. It was hard, smelling it again made me a little light headed and Killian had noticed, so he slowed his pace matching mine and putting an arm around me so if it did make a Me stumble I wouldn’t fall.

“We should be getting close to Pan’s lair.” Emma said catching up to her parents, Mary Margaret and David. “Going in a straight line of course,” Looking at the map she frowned, “Son of a bitch! How is it now behind us?”

“How can that be?” Mary Margaret said.

“You got us lost.” Regina said clearly annoyed.

“No, she didn’t,” Killian spoke up, “It’s the camp, Pan’s moving it.” He finally unwrapped his arm that was holding me stable off my shoulders.

“He’s playing tricks with us.” David said.

“if Pan’s camp keeps moving how are we ever gonna find Henry?” Emma said.

“We keep our hope and find another way.” I said speaking up, I had felt all their sorrow, confusion, and anger. “if he keeps moving the camp that’s his way of keeping Henry away from us. We need to find another way.”

“She’s right, we need another plan.” David spoke up.

“So this whole trek has been for nothing?” Emma states, leaning against a tree close to her.

“I told you walking was idiotic. If I can just use some magic, we can materialize in the camp and grab Henry.” Regina says.

“Gina, arguing with that won’t help get Henry back.” I said making my way to her. “and what exactly happened when you did it earlier? We were ambushed.”

“Plus Pan will have shields against magic. He’s smart enough to do that.” Killian spoke up.

“Well any bright ideas on how we get Henry back.” Regina said, crossing her arms.

“We can use someone he trusts, a fairy who lives here, or at least I think she’s still here. She’d be an inside source, knows all about the camp and could get us in. Most importantly she might have some pixie dust left, we could probably fly in.”

“Don’t you mean fairy dust?” Emma questions.

“No, Pixie dust. It’s stronger. Like nuclear fairy dust.” David chimed in.

“Tinkerbell?” Emma suddenly said.

“Do you know her?” Killian said.

“Every kid in the world knows of her.” Emma said brushing him away as she made her way back to our camp.

“That’s a bad Idea Tinkerbell is not going to save us.” Regina said as all of us followed Emma, shortly then following us.

Regina soon made her way to next to Emma, having a conversation with her. I stayed behind with Killian somewhat dizzy. I didn’t realize that coming back to this Island this overwhelming aroma would make me feel this way, it was probably from how long it’s been since I had stepped foot here.

“Hey guys, you find Tinkerbell, I need to rest at the camp. I think I need more water, I keep getting light headed.”

“Are you sure your okay.” Mary Margaret said.

“Yeah I just need to rest for a little bit and drink water.” With that they let me go by myself. I made my way through the forest, dodging the dreamshade and eventually making my way back to the camp. Taking a deep breath I went to my hammock and laid down.

The Diablerie Update

Its been a long 8 years since the abrupt end of development but we're back with a significant rework and a timeskip that assumes the successful diablerie of Prince Marcel of New Orleans (that's what you get for having such lax security around your torpored brother). We sincerely hope that you'll all particularly appreciate the addition of more explicit confirmation of Cass's queer identity now that we are no longer writing in partnership with a bunch of 40-something y/o cishet dudes. Anyways, here it is:

-Aromantic and Lesbian modifiers no longer hidden

-Pronouns updated: She/They (Lesbian Variety)

-Relationship to Sire (Astrid Hallman) tweaked to be more explicitly sexual (and romantic on Astrid's part), and updated levels of both resentment (as the blood bond has faded with time) and insecurity (both being now of equal generation)

-Huge buffs to Confidence and Self-Superiority

-Huge nerfs to General Deference Capacity and Respect For Autonomy

-Remainder XP spent on Dominate 4

-Slight redistribution of Ability dots

-New Paint-job for Stolen Motorcycle (now fits red/white/black color scheme)

-Coterie Nicknames Updated (Kristos: "Dirt Nap" -> "Captain America", Marcus: "9-to-5" -> "Marie O' Net", Clair: "Covergirl" and Jean: "Socks-in-Crocs" remain unchanged)

-Tendency to mask Malkavian heritage reinforced (Hecata is now most implicated, being much more ambiguous than Giovanni alone and less suspicious than Lasombra, though lingering Ventruesque vibes from the diablerie may send mixed signals)

-Death Faked with aid from Leopoldite contacts (to end New Orleans-specific obligations just in case she ever does return to active play)

-Paranoia Increased

-Downward Spiral of Humanity now veers towards the Path of Power and The Inner Voice (just a little more palling around w the sabbat would probably tip her over into committing to it)

-Playlist now includes 100% less Panic! At The Disco
