ok but!! ive been reading some fw theories in the subreddit, and one that has a lot of diff opinions on is whether liam has a second signet or if he was wielding ice in that scene, especially since deigh’s name means ice. what are your thoughts, do you think it was just a mistake?? and what about liam in your universe?

FOURTH WING AND IRON FLAME SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT. this ramble is not going to be proofread, nor supported with textual evidence, because I have a migraine. but if anyone wants to jump in with page numbers and quotes or things I missed / got wrong, please feel free! 

in short: I think it’s possible that Liam did have a second signet.

first, my only hangup on this theory: what are the odds of two riders in the same squad, in the same year, having the same signet (Ridoc and Liam)? I know some signets are more rare than others, but that’s still a very slim chance when there’s 20+ signets out there that we know of, and RY will probably come up with more (fr, I need to know what Garrick and Aaric's signets are. I hope they're something unique, that we haven't seen yet.) but here are a few arguments in favor of two-signet Liam:

one: I don’t think it was just “RY putting the wrong name”.

Ridoc wasn’t there at Resson, so RY would have to have confused the two boys entirely for it to be a mistake. besides them both being perfect little bbs and adoring fans of Violet, they’re not alike in appearance, dragon color, nor backstory -- what is Ridoc’s deal? like why did he want to become a rider? I need to know for my next gfverse chapter 😭 and the mistake would also have to slip past multiple rounds of editors and proofreaders as well, which is possible, but not probable.  and was Ridoc's signet even confirmed at that time? maybe this is me forgetting things, because ADHD, and it’s been a while since I’ve read FW in full, but the first time I remember hearing about Ridoc’s signet is in Iron Flame — when they’re at RSC and he’s like “I could force the locks open with ice”. that confused me at the time because I didn’t know about (or remember) his signet. and then it really clicked for me later, when he makes an ice pack for poor Brennan after Mira decks him lmao. is it mentioned earlier than that? when I search “ice” in my FW ebook it shows me every instance of “voice” and "nice" and “office” etc., too, and I'm not scrolling through all that 🙄 and neither of the reference sites I like to use have a page number listed for him getting his signet or the first time it’s mentioned. as another aside: look how gorgeous Ridoc is here. smash. EDIT TO ADD: it is mentioned in Fourth Wing, in one line on page 289 (as identified by @hockeyspiral23 - thank you!) but he doesn't actually use it. no wonder my adhd brain forgot about it when there were bigger issues at hand lol they also pointed out that it could still have been a mistake, if RY meant to have it be another one of the barely-mentioned marked riders who aren't part of the main gang, as ice-wielding is "a common signet" (FW p. 289), and there were a few students we never really met apart from Resson (including Masen and Soleil. RIP.) so it could have been one of them. another possible explanation that I just came up with for the mistake category -- unreliable narrator? the events of that day were incredibly distressing for Vi, and she literally gets poisoned and loses consciousness and doesn't wake up for three days (following the theory that FW and IF are her diary, written in an ancient language and translated by Jesinia later) so it could have been a blur / hard to remember and VIOLET could have gotten it wrong. If I were RY, and it was a genuine mistake, this is the explanation I would give lmao

two: Deigh meaning ice is another tally in the “not a mistake” column.

RY likes to have the dragons' names refer to their current rider's signets. (Tairn = thunder, Aimsir = weather...) but not all of them match (Tiene = fire, I think, and Mira makes shields.) Liam and the ice is only mentioned once, at Resson, but there are many characters who we don't see getting their signet -- really just Vi's sex-induced lightning, and a mention of Sawyer nearly killing someone in a swordfight on accident. and Sloane's siphoning, too. okay, maybe this isn't a great point. but I still want to hear how they figured these things out! especially Bodhi. and Xaden's second one. poor thing couldn't tell anyone, even his best friend, and had to figure out how to manage it entirely on his own (he had Sgaeyl, but that's it.) and maybe Liam didn’t realize he had the ice until Resson, and just started slinging icicles at the wyvern once he figured out that he could. though that's kinda unlikely, I guess, since he would have channeled in November or December and Resson wasn't until July... hm.

three: Deigh could have been the dragon of Liam's relative, giving him a second signet like Xaden has with Sgaeyl.

it’s my understanding that Liam, like all the marked ones (except my addition of Darling and her little sibs) were military kids, and his mom is mentioned in IF as being the one to weave the protection runes, which I believe requires a level of magic that only a rider would have. so he has at least one relative who was a rider, and therefore probably more. ngl, at first I thought it was mad suspicious that his parents were executed separately from everyone else’s, but then we didn’t meet them in Aretia, so I guess they really are dead. but how mf heartbreaking would it be if they were alive -- and the first time they see their son in a whole year of him being gone at Basgiath, it’s Xaden carrying his body into the fortress 😭 and Vi and X crying and apologizing to Mama Mairi for not being able to save him… I’M SO SORRY. IT JUST CAME TO ME, AND I HAD TO WRITE IT DOWN. if any FW writer wants to write that AU, go for it. we could all use another good cry. there seems to be a trend of the dragons who had Tyrrish riders purposely (and "illegally") bonding the descendants of their previous riders. - Xaden has a second signet from Sgaeyl as his grandfather was one of her former riders, allegedly, but he "didn't make it out of the quadrant"? so he had a kid (Fen, Xaden's dad?) before graduating? is that why Xaden mentions that his dad hated dragon riders in one of his letters to Vi? - and then I believe Imogen has the dragon of a relative, but not a direct relative, so she doesn't have a second signet, but the one she does have is just really strong? I feel like they glossed over that a little too quickly, and it remains unclear to me how that whole thing works. - and now maybe Liam, too?

I might tack more stuff on below as it comes to me, or RB with commentary, but I think that's all I've got for now.

but regardless of if it was a mistake or not, I’m not planning on putting it in Liam and Spark’s story — just his farsight, which is confirmed multiple times. if Spark believed in the gods, she’d thank them for not giving him something as destructive and deadly as her water, but Li’s still gonna have some issues with it, because I feel the need to project my issues onto my fave characters, and everyone loves some mild hurt/comfort that’s resolved with cuddles and a nap, right? 🥰

more Odd Squad oc posting! here are my main silly guys :D

character lore under the read more because i just know i'm gonna go on a whole ramble and don't want to make the post super long

so both of these guys are from precinct 73559 (which is the precinct we made for our ocs), Oriole is the creature room director and Orion is of course the branch manager. both of them are relatively new to the precinct, having been transferred there together just before Okiku stated working there (Okiku is @/dragonroar87's agent character btw! i consider her a main character which is why i'm using her as a reference for the timeline lol), and they are also quite close and consider each other as best friends (hence the bracelets) because before Orion was promoted and they were transferred the two of them were actually partners in the investigation department! although most agents in 73559 don't know this so they're just left to wonder why Oriole is always hanging around their manager's office and why she calls him Orion instead of Mr. O

personality-wise the two of them are pretty much opposites of each other and they definitely fit the whole 'silly partner and serious partner' pattern that canon kinda has, with Oriole being the more energetic and silly one and Orion being the more quiet and serious one, although their personalities and energy kinda rub off on each other when they're together.

Orion himself is like that introverted person who keeps taking leadership positions for some reason even though he doesn't particularly like public speaking or anything like that, because someone has to do it. he is actually a good leader though even though he doesn't realize it a lot of the time (he has a pretty bad case of imposter syndrome), and he cares about his agents a lot. he also happens to be a pretty big nerd which Oriole teases him about. he's also been through some pretty traumatic stuff and is a pretty anxious person as well, but he doesn't talk about any of that usually (i'll go into detail about it later but for now i'll just say that Oriole was not his first partner. do with that information what you will)

Oriole on the other hand is just a silly little guy full of joyous whimsy. she is very eager to learn things and to solve problems, but she has some chaotic tendencies and when she isn't causing problems on purpose she tends to cause them on accident instead, and she always manages to fix them in the end but that doesn't stop her from getting into trouble. she ended up transferring to the creature department after Orion was promoted because during the series of events leading up to that she was noticed for her talent in dealing with creatures, so in a way she and Orion were kinda promoted at the same time and i love that for them tbh. she enjoys her job very much, but she also still kinda multiclasses in investigation sometimes to help with cases and basically serves as an unofficial third partner to Okiku and Oceane a lot of the time. she has a few creatures that she calls her companion creatures that she's trained and she likes to bring them with her on cases and send out at villains like they're pokemon, the main one being a size-changing feathered snake/serpent dragon creature that she named Updog (she LOVES using the updog joke on people btw) and due to their shrinking ability Updog hangs out in one of her pockets usually. a few of her other creature names include names such as Mister President (so she can say things like "Mister President get off of the table!" or "the President ate my paperwork sorry"), Gazebo, and Periscope

Hazbin Hotel Episode 7 blind blogging.

BITCH YOU WERE HARMED!!! What? Vaggie saying that she didn't know angels could be harmed is insane. Maybe the thing that harmed you was used to kill that angel, how was that not an idea that popped into their heads? I didn't have much to say until 4 and a half minutes in cuz it was mostly the clip that was already released. I was thinking about not even doing this until Charlie and Vaggie started talking about what to do about the angels. Working back a bit cuz I guess I'm doing this now. Pen petting the cat was cute. It's odd that none of the other hotel gang have questions about Vaggie being an angel. Like, she was down there killing sinners. For them to be alright with her, while Charlie, the one who is forgiving to an actual fault, is the one with the problem is odd. Yeah, they're girlfriends, but Vaggie's reasoning is 100% something Charlie would roll over and accept no questions asked.

Anyway, I’ll add it hear, cuz why not, but like why isn’t Angel more invested in the redemption plan. Earlier in the season at least. Cuz proof or not, that would be the best way for him to get away from Val.

He’s only at the hotel so he doesn’t have to live with him, but if Angel could get into heaven, then that’s it. Now, knowing that no one knows how to actually get into heaven (if the hotel gang even know that yet), it makes sense that he’s not enthusiastic. But if not, then he should be a pushy about it as Charlie.

Okay back to the episode in progress.

Alastor's image in the window was a neat shot, loved that. Very curious to see what he wants Charlie to do for him.

Charlie never being to cannibal town kinda bothers me. Like she wants to redeem sinners, but she clearly doesn’t know much about them. As the princess of hell, she should at least care enough to know something like what region is the least violent or vaguely peaceful.

More children in hell, this continues to bother me. Also, I’m not found of Rosie’s voice. It isn’t bad, it just doesn’t seem to fit her.

How does not one know what Hell’s royalty look like? Like what is the point of the Morningstar’s being referred to as royals if it means nothing? They might as well be know as the oldest family in hell, it would have the same weight.

Carmilla, my girl is back on screen. And she proves my point. Being a princess of hell is not a title with any weight or power. Also, bold of Vaggie to thing she wasn’t going to get jumped the second she stepped outside.

My girl’s point out the facts, Charlie’s actions have only made things worse. Susan is me whenever Carmilla isn’t on screen.

Lol Charlie finally snapped.

First, Carmilla with her hair down, love that. Second, ITS AN ANGELIC SPEAR!?!? No one else caught that!?!? REally?

Vaggie swings around and angelic weapon and not only did she not think someone would notice, no one fucking noticed!

How did Vaggie not know that she could be harmed? Don’t the angels go through training or something, or is it whoever wants to be on the murder squad gets to go? What is the logic in this?

(monotone) oh wow I was right angelic weapons harm angels.

These characters are so stupid i hope heaven wins.

Not to doubt my girl, but how does Carmilla know this much about angels? It’s implied that none of them have been hurt or killed before, but she’s talking like she’d been doing this for a while.

Also, what is the point of Vaggie being an angel is she knows literal nothing about them and has to be taught how to fight against them.

I’m sorry, but no. The angels leave their spears lying around and NO ONE has ever taken one and tried to use it against them in self defense and succeed, ever? I refuse to believe that. The exterminations happen every year, not one ever had the idea to fight back using the angels own spears. In an environment were killing and fighting is the norm. Bullshit.

An overlord of hell singing about how fighting for love is the key is kind of…off.

Her wings came back? Why? Because of love…does that mean she just didn’t love Charlie enough?

The song is flat and kinda boring. Visuals are alright, a lot of jumping around. But Carmilla’s on screen and I’m a simple critter, so 4/10 i guess.

Charlie just coming out and telling someone she just met that Vaggie is an angels feels dangerous. Like these guys have been killing sinners forever, like, people finding out should put a huge target on Vaggie’s back.

(Deep inhale) the song has not started yet, BUT if Charlie’s singing explanation works this time and the only reason it hasn’t in the past is because she’s been doing it to the wrong crowd, im going to loose it.

No, the problem wasn’t that she was delusional and didn’t thing her plan all the way through, its just she wasn’t doing it to the right sinners /s

Destiny did not pick her for anything. The problem she, and the rest of hell, is facing is caused by her direct actions. That’s not destiny, that’s cleaning your own mess.

The cannibals weren’t convinced by her singing, they just want to eat the angels. A think Alastor tells them. Why is charlie even here? He could have walked up that gazebo and asked if they wanted to try angel meat, they would have agreed and he’d be like cool but you have to fight for it. Like what?

Charlie is put off by the cannibal town wanting to murder, where does she think she is? Why does she think she’s recruiting them? They angels aren’t going to go away after a bit of push back, death is going to happen.

Her naivete is leaning towards stupid, she has not idea about anything.

She singing like she’s a leader, so are rosie and alastor, but they crowd isn’t even excited about defending hell or seeing new places, or whatever charlie is trying to say. They want angel flesh, that’s it. Charlie isn’t a leader her, she’s just a messenger for an idea that isn’t her’s. The hotel and hell being defended would just be a byproduct of the cannibals killing enough angel for their own goals.

And suddenly everyone is singing together about fight heaven for no reason.

She’s not going to question the wings at all? After all that moping and complain? No one in the crowd is going to react to an angel after just singing about killing them? Cool

Charlie and Vaggie aren’t going to talk things out at all?

Ending thoughts:

This episode (season) felt rushed. Not time to sit on anything. Not Vaggie being an angel. Not charlie or anyone prepossessing that. Not charlie finally convincing a larger group of people on her side, nothing.

These episodes needed to be twice as long or have twice as many at least. Nothing has saying power.

Besides defending all of hell, there’s isn’t any reason why the hotel gang couldn’t just evacuate the building and stay somewhere else if they were that sure angels couldn’t be stopped. They could have stayed with lucifer for a day, I doubt the angel bother him.

None of the accomplishments in the episode felt earned. Alastor gave charlie all the answers. Vaggie had to learn about the weaknesses of angels despite being one. She’s only been down there for three years, so it isn’t like she forgot overtime.

Neither of the songs were that good. Overall this is probably the worst episode for me.

Today was the day, after years of training and studying, of begging to be allowed to join the academy, they were finally going to be a ninja. It may not seem that impressive in the long run, but the first step is the most important part of every journey to the top, even if Y/N didn’t really care about fame or power all that much. Making their way to their usual spot, somewhere close to the middle and away from all the yelling, Y/N sat down and began scanning the room for any potential teenage drama to avoid. Not because they were above it all, they loved a good show, it was just easier to keep your head down as a lurker.

On a second pass, Y/N finally landed their eyes on Naruto. “So, Naruto made it in? I knew he was secretly Iruka’s favorite.” They made a note of this observation. Despite most of the class trying to ignore him, he always seemed to drag trouble around. Speaking of trouble, the sudden screeching at the back door meant the harpies Sakura and Ino had arrived. Nothing against the girls themselves, but they’ve always seemed a bit vain and boy crazy. At least Sakura seemed smart, if she ever matured she would become an excellent shinobi.

Naruto seemed to notice them as well, leaving his seat briefly to greet the pink haired girl. Y/N couldn’t help but feel bad when she all but plowed through him to preen at Sasuke, who they just noticed was sitting next to Naruto. Their view was blocked by the crowd of girls that had gathered, all screaming about wanting to sit next to Sasuke, but the sudden silence that fell over them let Y/N know that something big had just happened. Whatever it was, it was bad enough to send the girls into a feeding frenzy. The malice radiating off of them was practically visible, and Y/N thanked whatever god was up there that they had never been the subject of such a beating.

When Iruka-sensei finally entered the classroom, the girls had already finished with Naruto and he had managed to crawl his way back to his seat, right next to Sakura of all people. Y/N switched their attention over to the man standing at the front of the room, they would be getting assigned to their ninja teams today, and it was important that they actually listened. They didn’t have anyone in particular that they wanted on their team, but they hoped for someone calm and willing to work with others. Maybe the Hyuuga girl, Hinata, though she seemed a bit quiet.

Y/N’s thoughts were interrupted once again, “Alright everyone, I’m going to start listing off your new teams, so make sure to pay attention. Now, because our class has one too many students, one of these teams is going to have four people.”

Four students? Y/N always felt a bit out of place, happening to be the fourth person on their bench, but that had just been coincidence. They hoped they weren't cursed to be the odd man out on their squad, they always worked better in smaller groups anyways. They would find out soon enough though, their name hadn’t been called yet.

“Team 7,” Iruka called out, “You guys are going to be our four man squad, with Naruto, Sakura,” Y/N hears some cheering and groaning to their left. “Sasuke,” Again. “And finally, the fourth member is going to be, Y/N!” Fuck.

Iruka immediately moves on, leaving Y/N to contemplate their sudden awful luck. They just had to be stuck with the most annoying students in the school. Y/N slumped over in their seat, there was no point in listening now, they could just lay down and wait for lunch to be called. At least this time could be spent daydreaming about their future, who their sensei might be, all the awesome missions they would go on. Maybe life wasn’t going to be too bad, they just had to focus on training and relaxing where they could.

By the time lunch came around, Y/N was more exhausted than they thought they would be. After the announcement of Sasuke’s team, the classroom had been filled with complaints from several girls. They hoped no one would start harassing them for being paired with him, but seeing the offhand sneers thrown their way, lunch would most likely need to be held away from everyone. As soon as Iruka-sensei announced the last team, they gathered their belongings and headed to one of the many benches lining the school's property.

All they had was a simple bento, some leftovers they saved from last night's dinner, but they weren’t feeling picky today. After their luck with team selections, they figured it would be safer to just accept whatever was thrown at them. Letting out an exaggerated sigh, they dug into their meal, eating with one hand as they pulled out a book to read after they finished. It was an older novel, something off the shelf they had probably read a hundred times before, despite the concerning pile they had yet to start on. Their family ran a small publishing company in Konoha and had enlisted Y/N as an assistant. They had worked with several big name authors before, but they always liked the small, local titles. There was more heart, more passion for what was written.

They hadn’t even packed up their bento when they saw Sakura walk past them, she was mumbling something about Sasuke and foreheads, “Hey, Sakura,” They regretted starting this conversation as soon as they spoke. “I already ate but if you want, we can sit together for the rest of lunch and get to know each other before we meet our sensei?” She didn’t even offer a response, only pausing slightly before turning her nose up and glaring at them from the side. She resumed her walking with more energy but did not call out for Sasuke again, merely sitting on the bench one down from theirs. Despite the massive failure in team bonding, Y/N was not surprised at the results.

They watched the girl slump over quietly for a second before she jolted up. Looking for what had caught her attention, they saw Sasuke leaning on a tree across from her. For a minute, they just watched as the two stared at each other, Sakura occasionally turning her head in embarrassment. She dropped her head again just as Sasuke started moving towards her, though what he called out left them struggling not to interrupt the moment, “Sakura, your forehead, it’s so wide and charming. It makes me feel like kissing it.” They stared at each other for another moment before Sasuke spoke again, “Just kidding, that’s something that idiot Naruto would say.”

Clearly, that isn’t what Sakura wanted to hear, but Sasuke paid no attention and sat down next to her. She looked up at him again when he asked her a question, “So, what do you think about Naruto?” 

She answered in a whisper, Y/N had to scootch over to hear her, “He knows about how I feel and still tries to bother me everyday; it’s like he does it on purpose, like he wants me to feel bad. Naruto, he doesn’t know anything about me, he’s just a pest. All I really want is for you to notice me, Sasuke.” They couldn’t see his face, but he had stuttered something back, and Sakura confirmed whatever he had just said, “Yeah, that’s how I feel, I’d do anything.”

Y/N was leaning off of the bench now, desperate to catch any detail. When they saw Sakura start leaning in to kiss him, they had to stop themselves from gasping loudly. Just as it seemed they were about to make contact, Sasuke suddenly jerked away and ran off holding his stomach. They sat back up in their seat to avoid being caught spying and watched, wide-eyed, as Sasuke ran back into the school building while Sakura called after him. After a minute of waiting, Y/N and Sakura saw Sasuke walking down the path again. She immediately jumped up and started rambling about kissing, asking him if he was ready this time.

Much to their surprise, Sasuke just ignored her and kept walking forward, head on a swivel like he was searching for someone. Sakura interrupted herself in confusion, “Hey, Sasuke, where are you going?”

He ignored her again and asked his own question, “Naruto, where is he?”

Her back was facing them, but Sasuke’s uninterested face was in full view as Sakura began ranting again. “Why are you changing the subject again? Anyways, forget Naruto! All he does is pick fights with you. Y’know why he’s so annoying? It’s ‘cause he wasn’t raised right, he doesn’t have a mom or dad to teach him how to behave!”                                                                    

Y/N stared in disbelief, eyes widening in shock at Sakura’s words. Was that really what she thought? They were surprised Sasuke didn’t have anything to say, all he did was continue to ignore her and look around halfheartedly. Wasn’t he an orphan as well?

Sakura continued, not realizing that the boy in front of her wasn’t paying attention, “Just think about it! He does whatever he wants, as soon as it comes into head!”

Sasuke finally snapped out of his daze, stiffly turning his head to glare at Sakura. The malice he radiated was enough to make them shiver.

Sakura continued, every word only making him more furious, “If I acted like Naruto? Forget it! I mean, my parents would get mad and I’d get in trouble, why would I ever mess around like that? But, I guess, if you don’t have parents to punish you, how would you know? He’s just selfish and bratty, it’s no wonder he’s all alone.”

His scowl deepened before he looked down, his eyes closing and his fists clenching in anger as he stepped to the side, preparing to walk away. “Alone… Isolated…” Sakura threw her head up, finally stopping her rant. “It has nothing to do with whether your parents scold you or not, you have no idea what it means to be alone.”

She took a step backwards, her arms raising slightly, “Why, why are you saying all this?!”

Sasuke turned his head, glaring viciously at her, “Because, you’re annoying.”

Without waiting for her to respond, he walked away. Sakura stood there, staring after his retreating form, before stumbling backwards and slumping down on the bench. Y/N followed her lead, pushing out a breath they didn’t know they were holding, eyes wide as saucers. Hesitantly, they started gathering their belongings, occasionally glancing over at the despondent girl. She had hunched over, gripping her hair and making faces. They considered checking on her, but they wanted to give her some space after that show.

Just as they were about to stand, Naruto finally made an appearance, clutching his stomach and grumbling to himself. Their eyes darted over to Sakura, watching as she made a face like she smelled something horrible. She seemed to collect herself before calling out to the boy, though her expression never dropped.

“Hey, Naruto…! We should walk back to class together.”

She let out a strained chuckle, messing with the fabric at the front of her dress. Naruto stood for a second, seemingly awestruck, before his expression quickly turned sour.

“Trying to trick me, huh, wise guy? Well, I’m not falling for it!”

Naruto brings his hands in front of himself, moving to perform a jutsu, a determined look on his face. He opened his mouth to call out his move, pausing before he could utter a sound, and let out a groan. He clutched his stomach, hunching over. He stumbled backwards, turned shakily, and ran back towards the school building, screaming.

“Again? Why is this happening to me!?”

Y/N and Sakura stared as he bolted, waiting in bated breath for something to break the silence. It seemed that Sakura would be doing the honors, though. As she started to make a choking noise, they turned to look at her, watching as she shook her head in anger. They jumped back in their seat when she threw her head up and cursed Naruto out.

“Naruto, you idiot!”

At that, Y/N decided to leave the girl to her rage. Getting up from their bench silently, they walk back into the school and decide to spend the little time left of lunch reading. As they pass the bathrooms, they crash into Sasuke.

“Oh, shit. I’m so sorry-”

“Tch, whatever. What do you want?”

They blink dumbly while Sasuke’s scowl deepens. Just as he moves to push past them, Y/N scoffs loudly and continues on their way, shoving him to the side with their shoulder. They ignore the indignant sounds coming from the boy, and keep walking towards the classroom.

The rest of the day went by slowly, and now it was just waiting for their new sensei. Supposedly, they were a Jonin; with how late they were, Y/N was surprised they even graduated. They were seated a few seats next to Sasuke, everyone had congregated to the front of the room after all the other jonin had taken their students. Naruto had taken to pacing and Sakura mumbled to herself every so often nearby. It seemed like they were all just waiting for something to happen, luckily Naruto couldn’t go too long without complaining. 

“Come on, man! Everyone else has already left, how come our sensei is so late?! Even Iruka-sensei went home already!” 

Sakura piped in, “Naruto, calm down. Even if he's late, we need to be respectful. He’s a jonin after all.” Despite her calm words, you could tell even she was starting to get tired of waiting.

“No way! If he’s gonna be this late, I'm gonna teach him a lesson!” Y/N barely lifts a finger to stop Naruto from balancing an eraser on the door, this could potentially be the funniest thing they’d ever seen. 

It seemed the rest of their teammates had the same idea, as they only offered minor complaints and warnings that a jonin wouldn’t fall for a prank like that. Now that the trap had been set though, it was only time until it got set off. Almost immediately, a hand grabbed onto the door.

Everyone sat with bated breath as the door creaked open and the eraser landed on the head of a gray haired jonin. He’s… so young.

Naruto burst out laughing instantly, ignoring the heated glare of the older ninja in front of him, “Hahaha! I can’t believe it! This guy’s supposed to be a powerful ninja?”

“Naruto!” Sakura scolded, “I tried to stop him sir, I would never do something like this!” Y/N scoffed under their breath, unknowingly drawing the attention of Sasuke and their new leader.

Sasuke’s eyes flickered over to them for a moment before resting his gaze back on their teacher.

“Well, regardless.” The older teen scowled, “I’d have to say, I think you’re all a bunch of idiots. Now, follow me to the roof.”

I saw and vibed with your posts on lol eveything Sam but back to Jetling Sam and Decepticons Seekers. There totally will be this start of a rivalry perhaps funny enough with how goofy Sam is there be a protection squad sorta

So the seekers be like “We kept him safe from the cliffs! Take that autobot flier!” Bragging to Windblade. Man I forgot how much I love insults like Airhead! Birdbrain etc

Can just picture kidnapping turning this way. With Sam stuck in the middle. XD

With a more serious rivalry. There definitely be bad blood, I love the hc that the autobots inspired by (TFA) Didn’t have seekers so they made their own fliers. So Windblade and Sam are not really seekers but fliers or aerial frames. Jets.

Although I have seen peeps use Seekers as more of an umbrella term.

So I did a breif digging cause I knew Windblade was never referred to as a seeker and I wondered if it was because she was often flying solo or something while finding it was primarily reserved for like the jet battalion in the deception ranks! I also knew in the claasic g1 cartoon they made they own flying squad but like none of it clicked that Seekers aren't a flying class but a flying squadron

also cause "seeker-culture" is a tag so I just grouped all flyers together smh

cause that goes further to make Jetfire (not bayverse tho i guess he can count under this) more obvious a social outlier 🤔

here are the autobot flyers I can name by hand

whirl, Jetfire, Windblade and Blades and they all seem to have an air of difference with how often I think they fly solo (blades more in the terms he's the only one flying amongst the bots not counting his human partner)

I wonder if that would impact how Windblade and Sam flow, Seekers thinking they deserve or should raise a young flyer because they have an actual living culture, and support system compared to her.

Sam would probably hate them and struggle regardless because their Decepticons first in his mind.

okie so im struggling with what elements to have in Sam's design, like in the one i got already its very messy around the helm cause i dint know what shapes and such would work to make it distinct from minicon!sam and its own thing

and the old design doesnt have wings sticking out as they form his arms but I feel like the wings sticking out to be reactive is just fun! but i don't know how to do it in a unique way, and what plane to use ;-; fun odd planes are hard to work with into a robot and everything non plan is either not enough body to use or ihavent looked into enough

I don't really have names for any of them

Captain 3/ mostly just goes by 3 or cap

Mostly a strict and straight to the point squid, she is fairly strong and skilled in battle especially with shooters. They do their best to put on a stoic but laid back attuited though that mostly goes out the window with 8 and (sometimes) 4.

They are kinda mixed on being a pred and prey. They will often indulge themselves on a few octolings while patrolling if hungry and are not easy to eat if they don't want to be. However, they will let 8 do it anytime, as well as 4 (though 4 could eat her even if she was unwilling, it's happened) They also really enjoy being in someone's stomach but only admit that to 8 and 4. They do like having someone in their stomach but rarely takes the time to enjoy it when it's not 8 inside her.

She is dating Agent 8 ( I will go over how they started dating in 8's section) and has a strange kind of flirty relationship with 4 but nothing serious.

Agent 8/ just 8 most of the time

A very joyful and curious person who is always eager to being doing something or hanging out with 4 and 3. She is quite skilled but doesn't like fighting all that much. 8 is also a very skilled cook and technician.

Vore was never really a common thing in the domes so 8 is mostly unfamiliar to it, though after one time where 4 came home with 3 in her stomach she decided it was worth a try. Agent 4 couched her on how to do it properly (even eating her "as an example" though 8 was pretty sure she'd just gotten hungry) and after a while gained the courage to eat 3 who was there long term crush. 8 began eating 3 while they were asleep and quickly swallowed her with ease. 3 had woken up while 8 was eating her but didn't try and stop her. after a while of enjoying the feeling of 3 in her gut she noticed 3 was "pleasuring herself" leading to the pair confessing and starting to date (after 3 digested and respawned) 8 really likes eating 3 but feels odd doing it to anyone else, she's eaten 4 a few times just as a random request to her roommate and Callie one time. When being eaten she honestly is terrified of it when it's not someone she trusts like 3 or 4, mostly 3 though. When she is comfy 8 really enjoys the warmth and closeness that it entails. Most of the time she's the one eating 3 though

she's dating 3 and does flirt with 4 sometimes though nothing serious.

Agent 4/ just 4 or the terror of octo canyon

Agent 4 is a pretty cheery person who loves sport and contests of any kind, mostly turf. She has great combat skills and is the go-to agent for missions, she can use almost any weapon with deadly effect. She also is quite the gamer.

In vore terms? she is a hard coded pred. She used to be pretty normal about it until she became and agent and ate an octoling who tried to eat her. She discovered she loved doing it and found octos quite tasty so kept on doing it. She's devoured countless octolings (and sometimes inklings if she wants) and is widely feared by many octolings, something she finds very amusing. She can easily eat just about anyone and once managed to fit 12 people in her stomach at once. She also loves toying with her "food" by picking octolings off one by one or making one watch as she eats their squad. Its almost evil in a way but no one would dare say that to her. (she is friendlier than she sounds lol). She adores the feeling of prey in her stomach and her body has definitely befitted from this in terms of her "assets". and while she isn't prey to often (if she doesn't want to be your snack, she most likely won't be) she does find it quite fun to be on the other side off the food chain, finding stomachs to be quite comfy. 3 has only eaten her once, 8 has done it the most but still not too often and Marie has once or twice. She has been in her girlfriends stomach a few times though only like 3 times.

She flirts with 3 and 8 sometimes but never really too seriously. She does have an octoling girlfriend named Nip. She found Nips diary while scouting one day and learned that they had a massive crush on her and fantasized about being eaten by her. So 4 did the only reasonable thing and found the outpost she was at, ate her whole squad and brough her home. She let Nip lay on her belly while her team digested and in the morning (after some fun "wink wink") she ate Nip to and let her enjoy a day inside her, much to Nips Suprise 4 connected her to a respawn point and they started dating after Nip respawned (I'm still working on the fic where this happens)

Neo 3/ V yes Just V (I'm not to sure about them yet btw)

They are a pretty adventurous kinda person who likes traveling around the splatlands and Alterna to see what she can find (it's a plus if she can sell it) A pretty friendly person but is not used to interacting with people and mostly just talks to buddy and her friends Hiro and Marin who she's known for years and has traveled the splatlands with.

In vore terms she's doesn't really get involved that much with it, but she is a massive prey. She lets Marin eat her a lot and spend time in her gut with Hiro, sometimes it helps them in cold nights. She has eaten them a couple of times but mostly just saw it as a kinda fun thing. She did once eat Shiver and Fyre after they lost a bet to her, though she mostly did that to put them in check.

She doesn't date anyone, and her friends are just friends

Adding on the journal thing! I can see Kalim begging Phoebe to teach him how to write his name in galarian (i don't remember where Phoebe's from im sorry😭) and It would somehow drag the whole group in the convo! And they end up taking a pic togheter for her journal because of "memories" maybe too, idk why i can just see it lol

I saw a post that Galarian is a different alphabet altogether. And Phoebe ia from Johto so for starters let's refer to that as Johto Alphabet.

I bet Kalim would want to engrave his name in Johto Alphabet until Jamil had to talk him into engraving it on clothes instead.

The first years also follow suit and learned basic letters of the Johto Alphabet to write their names in.

They feel like a proper squad now.

Ace probably pranks Sebek and Deuce by adding something extra next to their names and it'll be like almost a year until they discover it.

And the picture of the whole squad + scarabia duo is so wholesome!

Kirby Copy Ability Thoughts

Animal - Pretty cute, useful for digging, decent in combat, would love to see it come back

Archer - Perfect, wonderful, amazing. Love varied movesets.

Backdrop - Great when merged with fighter later

Ball - I hate this one, yet I would love to see it return

Beam - A classic, prefer it when it has a more diverse moveset. Love the dash air attack and the infinite air spin

Beetle - One of my favs, super fun and fluid to use

Bell - Again, slept on, really enjoy the dash attack and the look

Bomb - I always avoid this one, it just feels very plain jane to me

Bubble - Gets a little overwhelming to have to manage all the bubbled abilities, but genuinely interesting. Would love to see a way for it to return.

Burning - Great when it becomes merged with fire later

Circus - Not a huge fan of this one, doesn't feel like I am in control

Cleaning - Interesting how it is worthless for Kirby but good for his friends, and love that Star Allies uses it to reference those games

Cook/Crash/etc. - I barely ever use these unless they are obviously offered right before a boss fight

Copy - Such a funny one. Niche, but I wouldn't mind seeing it return. The Tac is such an iconic enemy too

Cupid - bring him back! Feels like a downgraded UFO, which I like. More abilities like this that really change the way Kirby moves, for better or worse

Cutter - A classic, maybe my favorite of the core abilities. Great for bosses once you can aim and charge it.

Doctor - Not a huge fan. Cute theming but feels like it lacks a gameplay purpose

ESP - Good on the mech for that one double boss fight, but otherwise cute theming and underwhelming power.

Fighter - Love to see it every time. The original varied moveset. Lost a bit of its uniqueness as other abilities also gained varied movesets but its always fun to see the flashy animations

Fire - Very reliable, love it for safely bashing bosses. Love the fire dash, love the flame wheel drop in Triple Deluxe

Freeze/Ice - I miss when he would turn blue for this one but the Parka is cute too! Love the ice blocks, the air attack, and most of all the iceball roll from Return to Dream Land. Always a fun and cute one.

Ghost - Never unlocked it but seems odd

Hammer - I mean, the king of weapon abilities. Always try to hold it as long as possible. Great for bosses. Love the dash air attack

Jet - Love using this in enviroments designed for it, fun that it turns the mech into a shmup

Laser - Really like this one for unique puzzle solving but less so for boss fights. Bring it back! I'd love to see this mix with other powers or an Ultra/upgraded version too

Leaf - A little underwhelming for such a late addition, but I really like this one for hitting aerial enemies. Feels situational. Bring it back.

Light - LOL I forgot about this one, its funny. Bring it back for the lolz

Magic - Enjoyed this in Squeak Squad, felt wacky but usable. Bring it back.

Metal - Superior to stone in every way (except cute references). Bring it back NOW

Mike - I never use this but I think it is funny that the mech version isn't single use

Mirror - THE GOAT, my all time favorite copy ability. Useful for all occasions, especially when they add the pillar attack. Only reason to leave it out of a Kirby game is to give the other abilities a fighting chance for my attention

Missile - I like that it is hard to use. Bring it back

Needle - Sucked until you could shoot the spines.

Ninja - Never connected with this one much despite its ubiquity

Parasol - A bit situational, but a reliable one that ages well as the moveset grows

Plasma/Spark - Was never a huge fan of these until I learned their boss-killing potential late into Return to Dreamland, but I still hate wiggling the stick. RtDL helped by allowing motion control for charing up

Poison - Not bad, its cute, great for boss killing, deserves to return

Sleep - I like there being one bad ability

Spear - Really like this one being included as bandana's weapon!

Stone - Actually never liked this one, maybe it got a better moveset at some point that I never picked up on

Suplex/Throw - Great but prefer when merged with Fighter

Sword - Not really a huge fan except for the dash aerial or mixing with elements or underwater

Tornado - Great for bosses, great for levels. Love its power being counter balanced by its difficulty of use

UFO - I never understood why this is such a rare ability when it seems like it just slows you down

Water - This one seems like it should've been included sooner. Love the dash attack

Wheel - Adore this one, always improves a game by being present. Lends itself to unique platforming level design. Great when you can ride an ally. Hate the mech suit version though

Whip - Never connected with this one, seems like it doesn't do enough damage to be worth using on bosses but isn't mobile enough for level clearing

Wing - Really enjoy this one, I love any ability that changes Kirby's movement options

Yo-Yo - So rare that it really reminds me of Super Star, and I love Gim's design. Really glad this one is in Star Allies.

Overall, I basically just like the abilities in Super Star especially since Mirror and Yo-Yo are two of my favorites. But I also really like Archer, Beetle, and Bell introduced in Triple Deluxe. Shout out to Return to Dream Land too though for Spear and Water. And the last shout out goes to Squeak Squad for having the guts to replace Stone with Metal.

Some thoughts on the new Earthworm Jim cartoon.

So, as someone who loved EWJ as a kid, I'm very excited about this new cartoon! Though it seems the story will be a complete overhaul from what the original games established. Though I'm intrigued, I do have some thoughts.

For instance, it would seem that Jim is no longer a unique entity within this new canon. In the original story, Jim was an ordinary, non-sentient earthworm who was artificially mutated and given sentience, and in the possession of a very unique and powerful mechanical suit. But in this new cartoon, Jim is evidently a member of a race of sentient alien worms who each seem to have a mechanical suit of their own.

Also, being from an alien planet means it doesn't really make sense to call Jim an EARTHworm, and to be fair that is addressed in the trailer. Still odd though. I wonder how it would be addressed in the show proper?

But that brings me to my next point: according to the synopsis, all (or at least most) of the alien races in this new cartoon will be anthropomorphic animals.

And one of the pieces if concept art does show what appears to be a squad of anthropomorphic crows, apparently based on Psy-Crow (and that does make me wonder if there will be a proper Psy-Crow character, or if it'll just be a bunch of crow mercenaries that act as a nod to the original Psy-Crow).

But seeing how the aliens will be anthropomorphic animals, this does give me hope that Peter Puppy could still show up in some capacity. I assume turning into a monster could be a trait of his alien species, rather than Peter being a unique case as in the old cartoon (the original games made it kinda ambiguous).

Also hoping Evil the Cat will be included! I'd be really interested to see how he could be adapted into this new canon!

And I really hope that Queen Slug-For-A-Butt, the Princess, and the planet of Insectica will show up too!

Though I'm worried that this could mean Major Mucus will be adapted out, since he's not based on an animal. And I always wanted to see him adapted outside the games! Ah well. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'm also worried that Professor Monkey-For-A-Head will be adapted out too, as he was always one of my favorite characters just for how frikkin bizarre he was! lol

At any rate, it seems the Professor is no longer the creator of Jim's suit, if the blueprints we see in the trailer are anything to go by, and the creator now seems to be a new character known as Leo the Leopard.

But yeah, my personal concerns aside, I am still very excited about this new cartoon! Heck, I'm glad to have ANYTHING new related to EWJ! lol

All I'm really hoping for is that this new show will be fun and entertaining, and ideally have a bunch of nods and references to the old games. I'm really looking forward to learning more about it! ^^

BnHA Chapter 278: MOMO IN CHARGE

Previously on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan were all “SIR, THAT’S OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SENSEI” and got really ferocious and made a very passionate attempt to blow Tomura up and it was great. It basically did nothing, but it was still great. AFO was all “COME HERE LIL BRO”, and Tomura was all “silly Sensei, you can’t just take over my mind and body just like that”, and he was very confident of this despite there really being no evidence to back it up, but okay! Gran was all “time to make the fandom mad at me” and grabbed Tomura by the collar and yelled at him about Nana a bit, and then Bakugou and Endeavor made an even MORE passionate attempt to blow up Tomura, which may or may not have done some actual damage. The chapter ended with Gigantomachia battling Mt. Lady, just kinda out of the blue, which is FINE, but she had better be all right, though!

Today on BnHA: Everyone is all “WAUGHH IT’S GIGANTOMACHIA” and running around freaking out about it. The U.A. alums all kick some ass, and pretty much everyone else not from U.A. does jack fucking shit. Mt. Lady, who I plan on naming all of my future children after, does her best to stop Machia but he keeps flinging her aside. Kamui Woods is all “here I come with Midnight to put Gigantomachia to sleep!” and is PROMPTLY FUCKING MURDERED!? by Dabi because he’s a flammable tree man, and so Midnight falls all the way to the ground and is badly injured. So then she’s all “well I better call the most competent person I can think of to fix this mess” and dials up YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO, who proceeds to take charge LIKE THE BOSS SHE IS, and mobilizes the rest of the kids. And honestly I have more faith in them than in any of the adults at this point, so yeah, you know what? Let’s do this.

so I am possibly a bit spoiled on this chapter because I did a “top five predictions” post earlier this week, and someone replied to that yesterday on Thursday saying that they were mostly correct. I don’t know exactly how close to the mark I was though, and in any case most of the predictions were just “so-and-so shows up, probably”, so it’s not too bad. we’ll see how it goes!

holy shit it’s like Mt. Lady isn’t even there

look at those speed lines!! goddamn. I just felt this huge rush of empathy for Mt. Lady though. like can you imagine growing up with this super-destructive quirk, and managing to become a hero with it against all odds, and having to put up with the manga making fun of you all the time just because sometimes you have a tendency to DESTROY A LOT OF STUFF, but it’s not like you can help it!! but the upside has always been that when your quirk is on, you are fucking UNSTOPPABLE though. so even though it’s been a hell of a rough ride for you, it’s worth it because you’re a complete badass and the number of people who can beat you out in terms of sheer physical strength is probably in the single digits. and you’re working really hard too, and lately you’ve been moving up through the ranks and actually becoming a damn fine hero if I do say so myself (and I do), and it’s like, about time though?? like finally, finally it is all starting to come together for you. and then this snarling trashrock person suddenly comes stampeding along and you put your all into trying to stop him, and it doesn’t even do a damn thing. like, holy shit. that’s just not fucking fair and YOU DESERVE BETTER, MT. LADY

First impression

My first experience of these two was in a youtubepoop collab...! This was using clips from Break Van and Twin Trouble, and through the haze of mature jokes and edits I gathered enough of the original episodes and characters to be like "hmm, they are Scottish and hard to tell apart!" lol

Impression now

I like them.... but uhhh, they really don't feel like two seperate characters so much as one cool character split into 2 bodies. As we're talking more about Douglas, as the younger bro being protected my his older twin, while still wielding immense strength he doesn't seem in full control of.

Donald, for his part, is the more aggressive one to a perceived threat but also has something of a sense of humour with the prank war and Dilly adoption with Duck 🦆

They have a theme that slaps and all their faces are pretty good too, so it’s again easy to see why so many are endeared to ‘em with cherries like this on top of the cake that is their brush with scrapping backstory.

Favourite moment

Crushing the Spiteful Brake Van with a smile on his face like he's thinking "worth it!" (maybe that was a face error but I'm rolling with it lmao) or rescuing Oliver

For Donald, the offscreen smuggling of himself and Douglas down south. Shame it's only alluded to.....

Idea for a story

...hey! Maybe the trials and tribulations involved with getting out of The Mainland? We know the crew were also family with each other and had a considerable influence, but still leaving it as secret backstory is a bit of a cop out

Speaking generally I would really like it if we had more ways to tell them apart from each other, so something could explore little differences and ways they respond to things when not a single minded unit

Unpopular opinion

This is more like an opinion that 50% of the fanbase agrees on, but I really prefer the black livery the show sticks with. It's a shame, because their motive for wanting blue makes sense and is very sweet, but then they instantly form a Similar Squad and look way too much like Edward. As I love Edward so much I get excited to see a blue tender engine who isn't Gordon, only to be disappointed that it's one of D or D instead! I should know I'm looking at one'a the twins and be like 'ooh cool, it's D or D!'

Plus the Black with Red and Yellow just looks really nice and smart, helps that they're the only ones with it [even if irl it was BR's answer to everyting for a while? lol]

Another Opinion is that the Scottish accent being like... written out is a bit hard to actually Absorb as dialogue. I get the intent but still, what? If I did write any of them I think I'd go with consistancy to the other characters rather than embarass myself butchering another language I don't understand.

Lastly, The Missing Coach is a weak, confusing story. Woulda been cool if the ep was finished and watchable, but as a RWS story it's still one of Wilbert's least good entries.

Favourite relationship

Other than their obvious Twin Brother thing with each other, I think they also have potential to be able to be more nuanced and interesting if they were paired with their respective GWR buddies more often. Donald's Duck was almost certainly made largely to capitalise on the reference, but now I've written a load about Duck myself there's stuff to explore, there.

Seeing that the books have 'em all groups on Duck's branchline / The Little Western it seems really odd that the Douglas and Oliver connection fades away in favour of the twins being together and Oliver just hanging with Toad (Duck gets to be in more circles lol). Considering how Escape is such a beloved episode there's so much more ground that can be covered with Douglas and Oliver chillin' and working together.

Favourite headcanon

I would gladly embrace someone finding cool and fresh ways to tell them lads apart! I don't really have anything beyond what I've written here, but I feel that, again, something could be made of uhhh Donald being more aggressive but also cooling down quickly, Douglas being firmer friends with Oliver, both of them having a life outside of each other but still being tight bros and stuff.

Things I want to read in the upcoming Rebel Robin Book

High school is a monster, and it's eating everyone Robin knows. As sophomore year starts, Robin's Odd Squad friends have decided to try to be just like everyone else. Her best friends couple up and expect her to come along for the ride. They can't stop talking about school and college and careers. Robin’s family. I want a confirmation about if Levon Hawke will play her younger brother like in real life (I mean, they have basically the same face, it would be weird if they shared a scene and they weren’t family lol). 

Maybe she lives in the trailer park. That would help to simplify things plot wise.

For some reason, I imagine Robin’s mom is dead, she was the one that get her into the band, and her father is the only one around. Anyway, please, Mr. Buckley, DON’T BE AN ASSHOLE. The group of shitty dads is full.

Tammy Thompson. For some reason, I picture her with the face of Lana Condor in full Jubilee costume and I totally get the crush XD

Also I hope Tammy is a cheerleader. I’m all for positive representation of cheerleaders for once, instead of the “vapid, alpha bitch” we usually have.

Jokes with “But I’m a cheerleader!” (I don’t care if that movie is later. It’s my fantasy).

Speaking of lesbians, I want a lot of lesbians. Robin never declares her love to Tammy, but unbeknown to her, Vickie loves her in secret. Dumb lesbians. Hell, her goal is to work at Scoops so she can fly to Europe and get laid in France.

Also I hope the rumours are true and Vickie is Amybeth Mcnulty.

Robin’s passerby comments of ST characters and past events, like Barb’s death (since sure now they were on the same grade). I suppose the writer will end the story the day of Dustin’s arrival (aka 3x01).

Speaking of Steve, it could be through her eyes we finally see what happened after the showdown at the Byers. Something along the lines of “Steve came to high school with his face destroyed, and Billy was expulsed from the basket team due to that”. Also lol if there is a scene in which Billy tries unsuccessfully to “seduce” her XD

Double bonus if she comments about how stupid are basket players being shirtless and so full of that macho bravado.
