Curious about these with naliha,,,,
Not gonna force you to all of these but if you wanna absolutely do
Gonna do em in order!
She loves all animals! Cats, especially but really all of them are so fascinating to her. She doesnt get to see many animals but birds, though. Which she also absolutely adores she makes friends secretly with all of them while Xani isnt looking and has the ability to remember which ones that have visited are which.
Naliha's emotional state is....complicated! Outwardly she's bubbly, cheerful and loyal to whomever she's with at the time and negative emotions were taught to be Undesirable by Xani and xyr guests so its not often she expresses those. She's been conditioned to not even really.... acknowledge having them, so only rare times when she's alone does she get to.
Very sweetly and with a bow. She doesn't have a signature greeting that she like, says but it's always very upbeat and cheerful when she welcomes you. She is the kind of girl to do the Gasp! Welcome!! Sort of greeting. When greeting Nya and Flare the like, 3rd time she does the 2 hand wave.
LOTS but! Namely anyone telling her she's more than what Xani says she is or that she doesn't have to act the way she does around other guests around them. She'll freeze up and glow bright green , trying to process. Any time anyone tries to challenge her view of herself she gets all flustered in a 'Oh-- no it's okay! That's just true, silly! I'm only here to serve, that's what I was made for. Why--//// why do you look sad?? it's not sad!" Etc . (It is sad)
Absolutely everything makes her happy. By design. If you say it's supposed to, it does. If it makes YOU happy, it makes her happy.
Again a lot of the same things that fluster her. Any time the kindness is. Genuinely returned she will blush, because more often than not she's NOT getting that. Flirting is something she can definitely handle, and she's not so bad at dishing it out when its wanted on the other end. If you tell her she's doing a good job or anything along those lines. she'll light up like a christmas tree. So, praise and acknowledgment.
Xani♡ ok ok jokes aside( well, not jokes. They do.) She gets startled when she witnesses anyone But her treated the way she's treated by Xani. In her mind those people are. Actually People! Why is xe treating them that way when she's right there to handle it!! Also, messing up scares her so bad that she'll stop glowing altogether. She'll go completely dim if she makes a mistake, no matter how small. It's not outward but she's also Internally scared by guests who mention they want her out of there for her 'safety' and 'wellbeing'? What are they talking about??
Naliha is unlabeled, she was created to favour anyone who favours her. Recipro, really. Anyone who is kind to her will usually have her drawing hearts in the margin of her workbook at Xani's conferences
She does not need to sleep! How could she be productive and helpful if she had to do something as silly as rest?? That was Not programmed! If she did sleep she'd be an absolute morning person, taking joy in waking up and making Xani and whomever might have stayed the night at a nice breakfast with a cute and silly little apron
She LOVES rain. All weather fascinates her. Especially things like rainbows and sunshowers.
She will listen to anything

Strawberey Shortcake: Berry in the Big City thoughts
ok so i'm watching the new 2021 series and heres some of my thoughts !!
I'm honestly impressed with the designs and the concept in general. its a cute and modern take on the series.
of course, i like the older "kids in a small town" idea a lot more, but uts definitely cute !
the character changes feel fresh (haha get it) though im not completely sold on all of them. Lemon surprisingly works well !!
Blueberry definitely fits as the odd ditzy and kind of dumb character. reminds me of her 1980s character.
Orange is great as always. glad that everyone agrees that orange is perfect the way she is and should never change. we love her.
The addition of Lime Chiffon to the main gang is definitely a surprise ! it still feels weird but i welcome it. (also definitely wasnt aware of her character at all before this LMAO)
Strawberry is the same as always !! not many complains on her, except for a few nitpicks (her aunt reminds me of aunt may from big hero 6)
BUT STOP WITH THE HAPPY PARTS. I AM VERY BERRY UPSET THAT THEY MADE RASPBERRY TART MEAN >:(( THEY MADE HER A BULLY AND IM UNHAPPY WITH THAT.
i also dislike that both bread pudding and sour grape are so,,,, plain (?) sour grape is just purple, and bread pudding is just..... brown :( i wish theyd bring back sour grape's green accent colour, and they definitely couldve put more variety to bread pudding aside from being a gay preppy mean guy (that was a joke. mostly.)
overall, its a really sweet and nice show, and a good cartoon for kids !! its easy to forget that reboots are made with a new and younger audience in mind. its different, but in a good way. i would definitely show this to a kid.
ALSO. THEY REFERENCED THE PECULIAR PURPLE PIE MAN OF PORCUPINE PEAK. THATS A WIN IN MY BOOK (pppopp fan btw, hes weird but silly)

hello icha!! i finally got around to finishing the stranger haha,, by which i mean i just watched it today. was veryyyy excited for it as i really like the poster design for this one. anyways. this event starting w/ the sort of portrait format or whatever / that narration is like. god. threw me right back to autumn troupe. I kind of love that the storytelling format itself is so distinct for autumn! the moment I realized it was omi I started getting teary… like oh man oh man… omi…. And the connection with him taking photos! ahh!! now that I think about it… omi kind of seems a bit like early version tsumugi, huh? also I keep forgetting this man is a college student lol. suspension of disbelief I suppose. onto the play i think like. mankai should invest in a fainting courch for tsuzuru. i also went to watch the play and 1) im betting yuki had a hell of a time costume design wise like the vines on the body? such fun costuming wise and 2) the ethical implications of whatever this play has,,, fun fun. tsuzuru was clearly having some kind of thoughts. i love zeros design and am always up for a3 characters crossdressing bc 1) i think its fun and 2) the costume design. i also dearly wish this whole thing was animated bc I feel like it’d be o fun to see taichi act as zero. or at least I hope this event gets full voiced one day... moving on to the scene where omi adds soy sauce to the paella I know it’s just like haha homare funny so lets five him a lil bit but like everyone in autumn troupe making their comments on the paella and like homare just jumping in. homare autumn troupe besties. just thinking. also the way they just r like. no no no omi it’s fine if u made a mistake!! it’s ok! we like it (you) anyways <3 it’s got it’s own special taste. something something omi’s perfectly pleasant as he is now but even if he weren’t on his a-game and was dealing with all of the biker gang stuff they would love him just as hard. another thing that got me was omi telling banri that he’ll give him something sweet so juza will stop grinding his teeth in his sleep… guys… guys you’ll give him cavities…. mb omi is a college student after all lol.
anyways when i saw the actual costumes. appreciative of them, i like the lil circuit-esque detailing on banri’s outfit, and that sakyo and taichi (nine and zero) both share that like collar detail? its very symbolic and probably also literal but its a nice way to sort of signify their relation to each other visually! also sakyo just looks nice. seeing him without glasses is so great. whoever thought up the like two mole detail for him was doing gods work.
something that confused me was ryo mistaking juza for nachi for a split second? like. does juza… look similar to nachi? or was it just that ryo only heard juzas voice and made that mistake. if it’s appearance wise too. kumon nachi confirmed. I’m joking lol bc I feel like I would’ve heard at least something abt it in one of the like small conversation comments, plus that doesnt seem like itd fit summer troupes style and kumon is for sure the wrong age… but still.
i really like how for this event, the roles for taichi and omi were kinda reversed. and taichis just so like. idk. smiley. rly lifts ur spirits. its kind of nice how this event contrasts to that cg where taichi is crying on omi. I also think like. idk. considering the story of the stranger. wolf gives zero a sense of purpose and life and I think that zero helps wolf lose his apathy. it’s about “the stranger” and the ending makes him like… not a stranger, right? because he’s got a companion. in the same way, taichi brings omi out of his emotional isolation. the picture taking! also the stickers coming back… thats such a good setup! the found family of it all!!
when he was trying to work out zeros character as soon as taichi mentioned a sharp speaking style I KNEW it was Yuki… yuki would never be as honest as zero is though lol… to me i imagine she’s got a sort of juza internal monologue feel? anyways. the taichi yuki dynamic intrigues me. havent yet decided how I feel abt it but when I do… yes. sorry that I make literally no sense. I think it’s very obvious that yuki is my fav chara kind of? I’m just. hmmm it makes me think! I’ve been monologuing to myself abt the yuki and juza dynamic lately which, to my a3 knowledge so far, doesn’t exist, but its ok bc I’ll make it exist! uhhh anyways this event was very good i liked the pacing. i think it didnt drag too hard and it really properly honed in on just omi and taichi, which was quite nice. they really did a lot for just an event!
time to listen to the event song,,, ok so. ah. i rly enjoyed just for myself it was very much to my taste so. out of curiousity i was like ok lemme look up the composer / producer AND IT WAS YUYOYUPPE....... that guy is like!!!! one of my FAV producers ever!!!!!! i know him from like. his vocaloid days and god leia is still one of my fav songs to this day...! this knowledge gives me so much joy omg!!! like wow!! wowwww!!! like i knew yuyoyuppe was out there doing other stuff (i know he worked on a lot of babymetal music which is cool) but like idk. to suddenly encounter it like this. heheh.... its so nice! made me soooo happy. going to relisten to leia now haha
WAIT ONE MORE THING. i was like "haha let me look at other songs i remember liking a lot" which. for me was rakuen oasis and don't cry. anyways. rakuen oasis is ALSO by yuyoyuppe???? oh my god!!! oh my god... sigh. feel like im in heaven.
OH HI FRIEND!! so good to see you with an a3 update!! :D
godd yeah The Stranger started so strongly and the idea to still incorporate portraits in his story was really something to make us cry!
And linking Omi and Tsumugi like this is pretty interesting :O <hat is your reasoning exactly? :O
For the fainting couch for Tsuzuru LMAO and i'm letting you know there's a webcomics that addresses it in Act 2 (hough there's no spoilers aside from the fact Chikage is here)
Im glad you liked the costume and the play!!! yeah i love the designs and it is always a blast to see them this into it, and yeaaah Tsuzuru has thoughts huh. It'll get voiced sooner than later hopefully and there we'll see more in details :3c but also that's what made the seiyuu live so fun bc they perform the songs in play cosplay and replay a bit of the play everytime and it's *chief kiss*
HOMARE AUTUMN TROUPE SOLIDARITY YES. LOVING IT.
And yeah the scene itself was so cute TwT they all want to reassure Omi and be there for him it's so sweet :( but yeah i love how you say it all, Omiimi TwT
and dLKFJDFLKJFDFD Giving Juza cavities is the price to pay for sleep i guess??
yeah agreed on the costume they all look so cool! and nice catch on how those three seem linked like that with their costumes, Yuki (and the designers) does such a good job! and god yeah for Sakyo.. yeah. He has sucha good design dLKJFDF
aND DLKFJD yeah no Juza is supposed to look like Nachi physically, but mostly his face? like i think Nachi was had green hair? we see a sprite of him in a future story, and yeah, everything is in the eyebrows. so Kumon should be safe? Omi mentions he sees a lot of Nachi in Juza, and while it is mostly due to their passions i think, the fact they're also rough looking guy with a heart of gold must play a part as well. but yeah, he does look like Nachi a bit.
and i love your deeper analysis of the event yeah!!
I feel like Taichi is really an emotional core of the troupe in the sense that is, he tends to catch on what others are feelings easily. And he uses it in the early chapters to ease off the tensions and stuff, but he was being held back by knowing he was deceiving them. So now that he's more free, he can be more of himself. but yeah i also love the contrast with how Omi was the one to help Taichi through his breakdown and guilt, and now it's the other way around, it's Taichi helping him through it. and the parallelism between the play and their dynamic is spot on imo! well said!!
and god yeah the sticker things made me cry sO HARD, and the pictures! and everything!! sobs it's such a sweet found family i'm going to cry :(
And! i love what you say about Yuki, Taichi and Juza on this one. I love that Taichi keeps bringing it back to "that childhood friend" and it's always like. so obvious who it is for us rip. But it can make you wonder if Yuki was more honest as a kiddo when Taichi knew him, though now he's clearly not. I love the mention of how Zero is more like Juza's internal speech (which, if anything is another argument about why you should let Juza wear a dress, cOWARD)
but also your mention of the Yuki and Juza thing, while i can't think of them having a dynamic per se yet, but i actually wrote a post during my reread about how i was baffled at the fact they treated Muku the same way?? like both of them tried to push Muku away because they were scared of how people would react if they say pure, sweet Muku was associated to them. And i find it fascinating because i guess those two are pretty aware of how the world see them, and it used to stop them from fully allowing them to be themselves.
I also find it relevant with the fact Yuki says in his personal song that while all of this way people judge him weight on him, he rather be himself, and "I want to love myself". Meanwhile we have Juza who's also aware of the way people judge him and it weight on him, and he wants to change himself from this person he hates, this self loathing - and in a way, he can grow in a way to be "someone" he may not hate, even on stage. I feel like those two have quite a bit in common in this way of being rejected by their peers in some sort of way.
I really want them to share some stuff at some point because there's really a groundwork on it all :(
But i'm really glad you liked that event!! agreed on the pacing and i do love what it brings to the characters! it really fleshes them out and have them move forward a little and it's pretty sweet.
AND OMG THAT'S SO COOL FOR THE SONG!! i'm so glad you liked it, but that's incredible it turned out to be from one of your fav producer!!! ahah sometimes life is like that where you end up finding the stuff you loved back into new stuff! and the fact Rakuen Oasis was from him as well... that's so cool!!! just, so so cool!
im pretty sure he has more songs going forward so i hope you'll enjoy the ride even more!!
thank you once again for sharing your thoughts about a3 :3c it always makes me so happy to see them!!!
Thank youu <3 have a good day :3c

What The Fans Of (Almost) Every Scarecrow Design Are Like Just by Surveying Rogue Tumblr for Approx: 5 Months. (Not in any particular order. Also this is a meme.)
Year One: You probably needed a childhood to relate to/needed a justifiable reason to stan one of Gotham’s biggest criminals. (but if your childhood involves being half-eaten by crows i am VERY concerned)  BTAS: The gateway drug Scarecrow. You’re probably a gremlin, and also really like the Dork Squad(tm)  TNBA: He’s under-appreciated, and you know this very well, but you’re also thankful that you get some of the coolest artwork of your favorite spooky boy. (Also the voice. 11/10 you want him to read sleepy hollow to you.) TAOB: You are one of the only 3 living fans of Adventures Of Batman Scarecrow, but you give absolutely no shit. You love that uncanny valley, near on clown-like scarecrow, and i feel bad for you, because you’ll probably never get art of them. Super Friends: I...Wow. Y’all really do exist... Galactic Guardians: YOU GUYS ACTUALLY EXIST TOO??? BATB: JAZZY. You like his hat, and his voice. You also probably enjoy a lot of older scarecrow designs as well. You get sad because you wish there were more content.  The Batman (TV series): PFFT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (But seriously though, you poor, poor things...There, There...) Assault On Arkham: AA Scarecrow in an otherwise good movie. Basically, you’re sad he didn’t get more screen-time. At this point, just stan: Arkham Asylum: ABSOLUTE GOBLIN OF A HUMAN. One of the gateway drug Scarecrows that lead you to The Rogues fanbase in the first place. You either love the serious artwork of him, love him drawn/written as a gremlin, or are STILL offended by his lack of footwear. Either way, you adore him and will remind everyone of it. Arkham Knight: OH FUCKING BOY. This can go one of two ways. 1.You love his writing (or don’t, but still stan), his poetic dialogue and his voice, and you also love how much he hams up the fear factor. You probably adore every artwork of him you see, and you REALLY love reading any fan-written material of him. You have many headcanons, and probably have googled A LOT of stuff to make them more genuine.  Or 2. You are very, VERY horny... (But as a good friend once said, “these are not mutually exclusive.”) Nightwing And Robin: Aw, y’all are so cute! Here, have some tea with the SF AND GG Fans, I think they have Earl Grey over in the CORNER OF IRRELEVANCY. (But I feel bad for y’all too.) Unlimited: BEEF BOY. You’re either in the group of people that love Scarecrow designs that use scythes, or you like how strange, yet fun his appearance is. Most art of him is super colorful too. There aren’t very many of you, but the amount of you that I’ve seen seem like super cool people. You all probably also enjoy the next one: Batman/TMNT: You knew the movie was a wild ride from start to finish, but you love it. You probably also like birds (I know, really obvious.) There aren’t many of you, but you like the idea of a corvid-like Scarecrow, and you wish for more. Or...You may be a furry that also likes DC stuff, and that’s ok too! We too also oddly love that weird ass cobra joker anyways.  Salecrow: You love his rhyming (which is arguably the best thing about him), but are also annoyed by the fact that most content of him use the same 3 images every time. You’re probably in the same boat as all the other scarecrow fans that genuinely want a proper medieval themed version of him. If you write/draw him, you’ve googled endless nursery rhymes. Its like Dr.Seuss up in this bitch. Also, them hands. Blackest Night: Chances are you’re still amazed that your favorite bag-headed master of fear even HAS that thing. You REALLY want him to wear that damn ring again, and will probably pay an arm and a leg to see it happen in a form of animated media. You also have very interesting artwork/writings of him. And your head canons are outlandish, but in the most fun way. (Seriously though, Hatter with a ring, huh...) Injustice: You either love the concept of The ScareBeast, or you’re here for the fact that hes voice by FREAKING ROBERT ENGLUND. Admittedly, you probably aren’t all too good at fighting games, but you still insta-lock him despite that.  The Dark Knight: Cillian Murphy portrays the character rather well, but you either are unnerved by his strangely dreamboyish face, or would wish for a slightly older actor. But!!! Despite all that!!! You love him, and probably still quote “WaNnA sEe My MaSK???” (Although I see some of you get absolutely tired of that lol) I don’t see any loyal fans of him, but everyone seems to agree that he’s not too shabby (heheh... shabby...) Gotham (Tv Series): ...Hello? Where are you guys? I KNOW you exist! Show yourselves! Jokes aside, you either love him or hate him. Live action scarecrows seem to be a hit or miss for some.  Harley Quinn (Tv Series): Softies. You adore everything about him. His dialogue, his humor, his very surprising accent, and his, albeit a stretch, questionable sexuality implications. Most art of him is very wholesome and good, probably because you’re STILL not over...Well... Maybe its better if I not mention it (all fans of him are the “If I see anything happen to them I’ll kill everyone in this room and then myself” meme.). Detective Comics: Hroo Hraa, my friends. Hroo Hraa. Whether it’s his “Queer grasshopper leaps” or his strange laughter onomatopoeia, you can’t get enough of his antics. Nothing beats a classic, and the fact that there are still many of you that are fans of him makes me smile. New 52/Prime Earth: One of the few scarecrows that greatly changes his childhood, but you welcome the idea of it. He’s a very unsettling looking guy, but you’ll remind everyone that his writing makes up for it. He’s mostly treated like a semi-C tier villain in the continuity, but every time you see him you’re like “!!!!!!!”.You most likely have a list of every issue he appears in so you don’t have to suffer, and your heart still breaks when you read the scene with him and that one girl. (He said he was sorry, guys.) Batman:Hush: 2 and a half sweet and savory minutes of this guy, only for him to get kicked in the face? Nay, Nay, you say! A crime, you holler! You go to your keyboard to tell your friend about how good his character design is, and how well animated he was, but alas they say “that’s nice, bud.” Blast it all... The Lego Batman Movie/Lego in general: Our boy at his most gremlin. Sure, you know this is a 99% children’s medium, but that doesn’t stop you from smiling like a dummy every time you see him. He’s funny, he’s delightful, and he has... a weird obsession with planes? What is it with them and putting him in planes? Maybe he got a pilot’s license before he attended university? What a smart little block person!  Obviously, I left out quite a few here, but these seem to be the most popular. There are SO many comic renditions of him, so It’d take my forever. (My poor fingies already hurt!) But please enjoy this silly little thing :’]

The Big Splash: Group Commentary pt2
Tumblr media
Part three coming in tomorrow
Tumblr media
@wolkemesser This hot card was the very first submission for the contest! The main selling point for me was the first activated ability, both mechanically and in terms of flavor! “Destroy target haunted creature” I don’t know, it just reads awesome! If I had to be nit-picky about the design, I feel that its a bit heavy between the political token generation, destruction and situational reusability of the haunt cards. Overall I would call MaladoLa an unpolished diamond of the Orzhov!
Tumblr media
@reaperfromtheabyss I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between your design and urge to feed (I had a vampire deck at the time) Although Bloodfeast Frenzy can damage anything and put counters on anything it’s overall weaker, and the challenge was about making a splashy card. I think we would get there if the overall effect was on a creature card instead of a sorcery.
Tumblr media
@juggernaut-is-a-metalhead Going for God tribal was a surprise! In theory the game plan this card suggests is solid. A 7/7 beatstick that increasingly becomes more costly to kill, should it unleash two tomes worth of mythology onto the battlefield. But in practice, a god heavy deck is tricky to build, and in my opinion the kinship trigger should be optional because if you draw a relevant god, you might actually want to cast them instead of waiting to use it after the doggo leaves.
Tumblr media
@naban-dean-of-irritation If taking extra turns isn’t splashy I don’t know what it is XD Thanks for taking loops into consideration, but the kitchen table won’t be forgiving either way. Narset and Yennet would surely auto include this spell in their 99.
Tumblr media
@misterstingyjack Spirit and Ninja is surely an interesting mix. The kinship trigger provides a ton of value and I like how it suggests the player to go for bounce shenanigans like ninjutsu or flicker to get maximum value. I am a bit skeptical about the power level but it requires some serious setup.
Tumblr media
@shootingstarhunter The lost cousin of Lost Auramancers from Theros. On the one hand, you can exile cheap enchantments and thin your deck right away, and you may even get the card eventually, but on the other hand, if Starfield Summoner dies young, you will miss the card entirely. May the gods be with you.
Tumblr media
@snugz Pretty ironic that a card named final moments is a permanent that helps you stay in the game for a lot of turns :p Jokes aside, I really like the dual purpose of the card because usually Fateful Hour cards offer two versions of the same effect. I could see this being a frequent choice in control oriented EDH decks.
Tumblr media
@partlycloudy-partlyfuckoff One of the hardships of being a judge here is that you need to let go off your biases, and here’s a card that supports two tribes I love, that also comes from Lorwyn <3, and is a witty throwback to one of the most famous two-drops out there. In my heart of hearts, this is the winner of the contest XD I can’t help but wonder, would this be ok if it was a 1B 1/1, or it would lead faeries getting banned from many formats?
Tumblr media
@col-seaker-of-the-memiest-legion Welcome to the fair! I think we all can tell the design could use some tidying up, like the missing creature type etc, but I will judge the overall direction this card is going.
Four abilities is usually a lot for one card, but let’s break them down to their very core and look at them
Search for “Trait Doctoring”
Red creatures can’t be blocked
Instants cast during the main phase gain cipher
Cast en encoded spell on attack, whether you actually manage to hit with the creature or not.
All in all, I can say you’re trying to tell a story with those four abilities, and the card would play nicely in a playtest. I really like the free trait doctoring part, abilities like these give new life to underused card and there’s a running trend of such designs in Yu gi oh when Konami decides to revisit old mechanics whose core cards lack the power of newer archetypes, so they make up for it with increased consistency. I recommend joining our Discord, for inspiration, help and feedback :)

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is basically OK
Recently, I’ve partaken in some kind of cultural exchange with a friend of mine- namely, I’ve lent her my copies of the Scott Pilgrim novels (god do they kick ass), and she’s lent me her copy of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, seeing as I never played it at the time.
Tumblr media
Well I’ve now beaten this game, and I have some thoughts about it, so chop chop Keara the story isn’t getting any younger I expect a full book report on my desk next Sunday.
Jokes aside, this was my first experience with a PMD game since Sky (discounting the demo for Gates to Infinity), and having missed the series’s third entry (fourth if you count those Japan-only WiiWare games), it’d be remiss of me not to at least mention that maybe some of the things I’m going to complain about were originally that game’s fault. But apparently that one actively sucks ass so who cares, just shift the blame over, eh?
Tumblr media
(ah, primary-school-tier bullying, exactly what I want in my Pokemon game, cool)
I think one of the foremost issues people have about PSMD is the story, and I can’t help but agree. The game spends what feels like forever fucking about in Serene Village, doing what could charitably described as tutorial followed by slice-of-life-ish plots, and while I love me a good slice-of-life anime, those tend to be a lot less slow than this. Also the characters tend to be a lot less one-note, but it’s a kids game, so whatever. Speaking of kids, this to my knowledge is the only PMD game where you and your partner character are canonically children, and spend a lot of time around others. The game seems to establish unevolved Pokemon as kids, which while it doesn’t really add up with the rest of the series (e.g. in the first ones, Caterpie is clearly a child, but Metapod is as well and Gulpin is at least adult enough to run their own store), it would ultimately be excusable if it didn’t make that huge section of the game so boring.
They aren’t consistent with that kids thing, by the way. When you finally reach the Expedition society, you’re met with a bunch of unevolved Pokemon (Archen, Buizel, Bunnelby, Swirlix) that are running around behaving very youthfully, who then turn around and go hey we don’t allow kids in our gang please leave. Like, the plot had been leading me to believe that the whole place was shut down, Ampharos as its final member, and those kids were just running around an abandoned building, but nope, here are your teammates for the rest of the game.
Tumblr media
(brown sus)
The remainder of the plot is basically fine, its not like the plots in this series are the greatest on the planet (save maybe Explorers), though the focus on the villains turning people into stone felt pretty awkward. It’s like they wanted to pull off a more dramatic, more personal-stakesy plot but couldn’t actually kill anyone. This gets kind of egregious when you end up in actual hell for a bit, in what I guess is the series tradition of potentially traumatic experiences and blasted hellscapes being exposed to the protagonists. The endgame plot all seems to come at you at once, not helped by it being lots of chained dungeons without returning to towns beforehand- it wouldn’t be as bad if the whole game was like this, but with such a slow start, it just feels so inconsistent. The endgame twist was pretty spicy, I’ll admit, but it didn’t have enough buildup to feel earned in my honest opinion.
Tumblr media
(pictured: the best character in the game)
But the plot doesn’t matter so much as the gameplay does it? And as someone who has also concurrently been playing through the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game on my GBA, there’s a lot of interesting comparisons to make. The dungeons on the whole are shorter in PSMD, with few of the main-game ones reaching beyond 10 floors (and not going much past it) compared to the prequels’ capping off with a 25+5 floor behemoth in Sky Tower. This is made up for by every floor of the dungeons in PSMD feeling much larger and more labyrinthine than anything in other PMD games, meaning each one takes much longer than you’d think. I dread to imagine what the 99-floor dungeons are like in this game, especially considering you now need an item to quicksave the game if you want to do anything else now. The dungeons themselves additionally really do not feel like they’ve taken advantage of the 9 years of potential design improvements and two console generations of technology improvements between games- it is frustratingly same-old same-old in the dungeon design.
These problems are capped off with the increased difficulty- that is, that every individual Pokemon is significantly more of a threat to you than in previous games, and you don’t really get the opportunity to level grind much. And I’m not opposed to difficulty in games, obviously, but what it does in PSMD is ruin the flow of the gameplay for me. What works in Mystery Dungeons previous was that blend of exploration and combat, and in Super, that gets completely broken up by protracted encounters with even the chump-tier mons you encounter along the way. Also, they made the basic attack complete shit, and I don’t like that.
Tumblr media
That’s not to say that the gameplay is all bad. I won’t comment too heavily on the Looplet/Emera system, because I’m kinda mid on it, but it didn’t help that despite all the game’s tutorialising I still didn’t get part of it until most of the way through the story. The game does have some moments of genuine brilliance in design, though. The way you recruit more Pokemon is so much better than the luck-based mission of the previous games, wihle managing to actually make you want to go on the random missions you get thrown throughout the game- for one thing they aren’t random, but it means you have a guaranteed good reward instead of the semi-RNG system where you just end up with a bunch of Gravelerocks and berries you’ll never use. In addition, the system where on non-plot days (and in the postgame) you just get 3 random Pokemon recommended to you, that get bonus EXP if you use them that day, is a great way of encouraging the player to diversify their Pokemon usage substantially, which is nice.
Tumblr media
There’s a few other nice gameplay things I’d like to highlight. Considering the increased difficulty, the ability to rescue yourself (read: come back with the overpowered mons the game dropped in your lap) is really nice, especially since it’s not like anyone else is playing these games who can help. The way moves get better the more you use them is nice, especially considering how much more you use one move over and over in this game compared to main series Pokemon games. The random bonus missions and travelling mons you encounter in dungeons are nice, as well as the increased variety in missions available- as well as actually being able to revive fallen escortees, it makes the mission system overall much stronger than in previous entries.
Beyond that, though, I’m not sure what else I have to say about Super Mystery Dungeon. The game is a decent entry in what can barely be called a franchise these days, considering it’s 6 years old and yet still the newest entry, excluding the remake of the first ones that came out last year. It’d be a shame if this was the note we went out on for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but to be fair, I don’t think they’re ever going to be able to recapture the magic of the first two games. They struck gold with a lot of people, but I guess at this point, the gleam wore off.

Disney Spooktacular Halloween-a-thon & Review/Reaction for "The Trickening!"
"What is this a crossover episode?!?" Well yes my Halloween-a-thon and Review/Reaction have crossed so you get a special post yay!
Jokes aside i was very excited for this episode and it didn't disappoint i LOVED it and the references, the references, Fun fact about me dear Tumblr user i love horror movies, well im more of a suspense/psychological thriller kinda gal but i have seen a few slasher films since gore kinda disgust me. But yeah i think this is one of the few episodes that i got most of the references so Let's Do this!!
Spoilers! Read at your own Risk!
I loved all of the costume the kids wear from Webby being a Demon King that nobody gets but its a cute costume, Huey being Gizmoduck which he obvioulsy did himself, Dewey's half-baked costume of a pirate on vacation and then the laziest of lazy halloween costumes Louie as Huey its so in character of him, and i also like that kids sometime say or act as the thing that are dressed of is so adorable. And i of course loved Donald and Della being an angel and devil respectively matches their personality, oh and Scrooge being a skeleton simple but elevated by the glow in the dark effect and come on Scrooge don't you think you're a bit old for trick or treating just saying not judging.
Tumblr media
Love the spooky version of the intro.
And of course Scrooge isn't giving candy he goes for the candy oh wow an empty bowl what a greedy jerk and oh my gosh he is doing the skeleton dance. Aw Donald just want to give candy what a sweetheart.
Oh my gosh this episode is a haunted house episode yes and ok Hazel House reminds the House on Neibolt Street from It, so im already getting creeped out.
Tumblr media
If there is a fabled motherload of candy in that house from previous halloweens that candy is moldy and nasty plus its a creepy abandoned house you're just gonna pick it up from the disgusting floor Ew.
Oh and fun fact about me dear tumblr user i have a fear of dolls, yeah childhood trauma of watching Chucky as a child so you better believe that i got quite scared watching this and i think it's a Poltergeist reference but still kinda creepy and oh dear its the puppet from Saw
Tumblr media
Then we got The Good, The Bad and The Himbo probably one of my favorite teams of this episode i love their interactions and how they each have a different form of celebrating halloween Della wanting to scare and traumatize, Donald just wants to give candy and well Launchpad and his silly and dramatic take on halloween is hilarious and creative.
Tumblr media
But honestly we need to see more of these three cause they where hilarious and worked well off of each other.
And Launchpad telling his childhood trauma per say, that he believes that he spawned soul-eating demons that come every October 31st is so funny and little child Launchpad is adorable and i know Frank Angones said that his design was inspired on himself but he kind of reminded me of Dustin from Stranger Things, nice and funny detail that everytime LP crashes a fire starts
Tumblr media
Also Della and Donald fighting as children was funny and reminded me a lot of me and my sister.
And sheesh Launchpad really beat up Scrooge no fear, no regrets Calm down LP.
Tumblr media
And ok im on Huey's side what's wrong with some normal fun trick or treating not everything has to be a great adventure but true he shouldn't have lied to his family.
Oh look another Childhood trauma the creepy well girl from the Ring. Yay 7.7
Tumblr media
i know a lot of people have been saying that Louie was being to mean to Huey with his teasing but honestly that's how sibling and i've teased like Louie and felt like Huey so honestly i don't see it that bad well from my perspective. But they do have a nice and wholesome resolution.
Tumblr media
And the creatures being classicc monsters was a nice twist and oh god Launchpad is a perfect combination between Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees and he crazy, and all the Shining references from the Twins, the picture at the end, to the "Here's Johnny" good stuff
Tumblr media
I like the conclusion, loved seeing Mrs. Beakley dressed as Darkwing Duck (im so excited for the special), Dewey got his 24 hour Candy Store and Donald got to give candies to the kids what a cinnamon roll and Poor LP all these years without celebrating Halloween.
Animation amazing as always and also the musical score really set the spooky tone.
Doug Jones, Selma Blair,James Marsters and Clancy Brown did an excellent job as the voices of the Wereduck, Witch Hazel, Nosferatu and Frankenstein respectively.
I love that this episode combines the old and modern horror creatures and cliches and the story was really creative, clever and funny. So i give this episode 5 out of 5 ducks.

Tumblr media
Alright, cool. I finally have a guaranteed length of time that should be long enough to go through all of these, so let’s do this. I know the plan was to have me address each ask one at a time but that didn’t work out lol so I’m just doing it all at once. I’m also turning it into a post so anyone who wants to can follow along with my journey.
I’m also gonna copy/paste the text of the other asks instead of screen capping them because copy/pasting is faster lol.
I’m gonna put a pic of each one here, give my thoughts, maybe a goofy rating (I dunno), and then pick my favorite. Just so y’all know.
* Tanawy's entry n.1 in the Dragon Quest monster showcase: the all-time classic Slime. When asked to design the Slime like the standard goop monster they usually were, Toriyama said "no" and a legend was born, now cute slimes are more popular than the disgusting goop depiction. Its cousins and variants are numerous and some are very different from one another so as a bonus here the criminally underutilized Mottle Slime and its evolution the Mottle King Slime.
See, I don’t even need to look this one up. Here it is:
Tumblr media
But let’s be real, you guys didn’t need to see an image of this dude either. I love this thing. I never went through a period where I thought of the grosser oldschool slimes. This thing has always been what’s come to my mind when I here the word in an RPG context. Which, considering my zero experience with DQ, really speaks to this thing’s popularity. I am actually going to remove this one from consideration, though, for that reason. I just have too much of a bias towards it. I know it too well, and all variations seem to be equally great. It’s a 10/10, though. Truly iconic.
Get the rest after the cut!
* Tanawy's entry n.2: Originally a boss monster, here is the Golem. While not the sharpest tool in the shed, these brick-made guys can be quite loyal, with a child-like personality, downright adorable (I will never forget you Goldirox) but their strenght in battle must not be underestimated. And since St. Valentinus is around the corner here a Chocolate Golem variant as a gift. Friendship chocolate mind you, from a dude to another 😄
Tumblr media
I like this guy. He reminds me of a couple oldschool Yugioh cards. They’re all bad cards, but I’m nostalgic for them so that help’s this guy’s chances. I don’t know that I buy him as a threatening boss, though. He seems more like he’d be your big stone pal.
The chocolate variant is absolutely adorable.
8.5/10 overall for both.
* Tanawy's entry n.3: Here are two members of the Machine Family, first the Killing Machine. These relentless hunters are merciless and they are constantly upgrading, so models with different modifications are plenty. They even come with garden sprinkles. Then there is the Mecha-mynah, who puts a different spin on the mechanical Cuckoo-bird motif. Careful these guys have razor-sharp wings and they selfdestruct when cornered.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, not so much for the second one, but the Killing Machine also reminds me of, like, a half dozen Yugioh monsters. Did Kazuki Takahashi just like ripping this franchise off or something? Either way, these are both good designs, but they don’t really work for me that much. They’re a little...plain? I guess? I guess I like my machine creatures rougher and with more detail. 7/10.
* Tanawy's entry n.4: Next are my deepest fears (exaggeration) if they were real; the Waspion, half wasp half scorpion, and the Claw Hammer, Half hammerhead shark half metal scolopendra, all nightmare. Continuing with the caravan of creepiness, here is the Bona Constrictor, just get it away from me. This next one, when i saw it for the first time i yelled "WTF is That?!" here is the Ulcer, a walking awful pile of rotting flesh.
I am NOT a fan of the Ulcer. That thing’s ugly, and not even in a fun way. 0/10.
I like these other guys, though:
Tumblr media
The Waspion is literally just Gligar from Pokemon, but aside from that I like animal/creature mash-ups. And the Claw Hammer is a pretty unique one. 9/10 for the whole lot.
* Tanawy's entry n.5: Beef or chicken? Why choose when you can have both? Here is a heavyweight of the Bird Family the taurine Bullfinch. But dont forget your vegetables, or else they might turn into these Plant family monsters, the eggplant Woebergine, the bellpeppers Capsichum and the cucumber Cruelcumber. Also, meet the Peahooter, these guys pelts their targets with arrows taking advantage of their higher ground.
Tumblr media
Okay, we’ve got another mash-up creature here in the form of the Bullfinch, but I’m not feeling this one as much. It’s worth, like, a 6.5/10, maybe. The Woebergine and the Peahooter are both pretty interesting. The Peahooter is kinda cute in a weird way and the Woebergine is delightfully derpy. They both deserve approaching an 8/10. I’m not really feeling the Capsichum at all though. They get a 5 or a 6/10.
* Tanawy's entry n.6: Who doesn't like a good dog? Well maybe not these guys from the Beast family: the Chainine who will ensnare their preys with their collars, the Putrefido, who is no longer alive, the Abracadabrador, who will eat your bones, the Crocodog, a levitating (yes this thing floats in the air) dog-crocodile hybrid and finally the Jackal Ripper (long lost relative of Wolverine or just imitator? More at 11 on the news)
Hey now. That’s not really fair to the other entries. Every one of these dudes:
Tumblr media
Is a very GOOD BOI. I think I like the Abracadabrador the least. He’s a little too un-dog-like compared to the others. 6.5/10. The Chainine and the Putrfido are both the perfect blend of cute and weird. I like them a lot. They get 7.5/10. Jackal Ripper is a badass 8/10. He’d be cooler if he was wearing jeans. I LOVE the Crocodog, though. 10/10. Perfect. He just looks like a friend, but he also looks like he could kill my enemies. Which is what I like in a monster.
* Tanawy's entry n.7: Here is a taste of Japan with the Boppin’ badger, the most Tanuki-like monster you will ever meet; Then these guys don't need consent to give everyone within their reach a smooch, here is the Lips. Also, beware of these horses of the underworld, the Equinox where they probably hangout with these other lovely fellows, the Hellspawn. Speaking of which here is the demon Teeny Sanguini. Cute eh? Not when it evolves in the Bloody Manguini. Thankfully not everyone of them does that.
Tumblr media
Okay, you can’t fool me. That first one is just a regular animal.
Jokes aside, though, I’m not really feeling this bunch unfortunately. The Hellspawn just reminds me too much of mutant can Steven, the Lips is a little boring, and the Equinox, while I like the wordplay in its name, and while it’s cool in principal, is too busy. I’m just not feeling the designs of these guys overall. 4 or 5/10 for the whole lot. Though the Teeny Sanguini is closer to a 5 than a 4.
* Tanawy's entry n.8: There are two species of monsters, the Pips and their cousins the Conks, who constatly imitate the classic classes of the humans, like warriors or priests, but this time the little rascals have gone a little farther and here they are copying the DQ8 4 main heroes in the Trodainian Conklave, the DQ4 heroes in the Zenithian Conklave, the hero of DQ1 and the 3 heroes of DQ2 in the Alefgardian Conklave and the hero of DQ3 with 3 other companions in the Aliahanian Conklave. Cute.
Tumblr media
Okay, I love the idea of these things. They’re cute, they fit right in with the general aesthetic of the franchise, and they have a ton of personality. I’m not gonna post pics of all of them because there’re so many, but they deserve ~9/10 collectively. They’re very good.
* Tanawy's entry n.9: Not enough dragons? So here's three: what do you get mixing a T-rex, a dragon and a vicious axeman? An Hacksaurus that's what! Then the Drakulard. Don't be fooled by their mole these portly fellows mean business. Another chubby dragon, the Jargon: dragonic masters of the clay containers, these guys URNed their right to use jar puns and they will make sure you remenber it, even if they have to crack your pot.
Okay now these are more what I was thinking when I heard the title Dragon Quest.
Tumblr media
I like the Hacksaurus the best outta them. He just looks nice. They’re all good, though. They fit the art style perfectly, and resemble each other just enough that you buy them all being related creatures. 8/10 overall, though the Hacksaurus is a little above the others, with the Jargon being a barely at the bottom of the barrel. Or the jar I guess.
* Tanawy's entry n.10: The only story entry in this showcase, because just look at him, it's the only DQ big baddie (at least in english) to actually call themselves "the Demon Lord" It's Orgodemir, specifically it's true form which is the first photo you find in the gallery at almost end-page. Let me just tell you this, Orgodemir is a d*ck of the highest level. The brain it's actually an eyelid for a giant eye by the way. Happy Nightmares.
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHA. I know there are other forms for this guy, and this is probably not the reaction that anyone who played the game would have, but I just can’t take this guy seriously. He looks like Edward Cullen with bat wings. HAHAHA. 8/10 ‘cause it made me laugh.
* Tanawy's entry n.11: And lastly, in a category i like to call "I can't belive these are real", its the Funky Ferret; yes he and his cousins do exactly what the image shows. And the almost copyright-infinging Owlbear, yes they did not even try to distance themself from D&D with this one (ok they have a variant but is not saying much). There were others in the last category, but since they REALLY did not age gracefully to the modern standards of "acceptable" i prefered not show them.
Tumblr media
I love Owlbears, they’re just such iconic fantasy monsters at this point, so he gets a solid 8/10 rating by default. It’s a pretty original take, too, focusing on the cuteness potential of the creature over the badass potential. I like that.
The Funky Ferret, though...
Tumblr media
With a name like that this guy coulda been so cool. But he’s just a pretty generic design blended with a fart joke. What a bummer. 3/10.
And there we have it. Probably not exactly what you were thinking but I hope you like it. I don’t hate any of these guys. Some are more boring than others, but there’s something neat about each of them. I like the ones that take badass ideas and make them cute while remaining intimidating best out of all of them, and I think the Crocodog does this best with the Hacksaurus as the runner up. Crocodog is definitely my favorite of these, though. He gets the Best Good Boi award of Bestness.
Orgodemir gets an award, too, though, the “made AJ spit out his rum and Coke laughing” award. It’s not the most coveted, but it’s something.
I know this is a long one, and y’all may not want to reblog, but what do any of my followers think of these funky dudes? Leave a comment on this post or reblog with your answer in the tags!

Doing something for fun: RPGs about broken anuses.
As promised, after the abomination that was the Sam arc, I am now going to write random posts about more positive/fun things. However, I also decided to add a little twist to them and correlate them in some way thematically to Dobson. E.g. by reviewing a game/show that does all the things Dobson hates/obsesses about/or fails at right.
And my first entry in that regard is related to a videogame that came out a couple of years ago, based on a tv show Dobson claims to hate. South Park: The fractured but whole.
Tumblr media
Seeing how the game is 3+ years old at this time and there have been tons of reviews & walkthroughs showing how good and fun the game is, I do not really want to cover the plot and all the things that make it great in detail. Lets just say you can really feel that Parker and Stone were heavily involved in the writing of the game, as it is filled to the brim with references to the show and the typical satirical humor of it, that in parts manages to cross the line even further for me than the show. Right from the start you get a very dark but smart social joke and commentary out of the way, when as you set up your characters looks and the difficulty of the game, it is the tone of your skin that decides how hard the game gets. Meaning if you play as a black person, you are having a very hard time. It is not too preachy, just an acknowledgment that yes, in American society, blacks can have it harder compared to white people. Especially when living in a town like South Park, where social standing is pretty low and the police force is inherently corrupt and racist, doing something so outrageously to black people, I do not want to spoil it. Let’s just say it ends in a better Lovecraft joke than any of the shit SJWs did in light of censoring Call of Cthulhu board rpgs.
The overall plot is simple: While last time the kids played fantasy and things escalated quickly as they do in South Park, this time they play superheroes, with two fractions having formed: Coon and Friends vs the Freedom Pals and things escalating just as quickly. What starts off as the hunt for a missing cat to earn a 100$ reward Cartman wants to use to start a multi billion dollar movie franchise just like Marvel, turns soon into the player and his friends having to fight a real crime conspiracy thought up by one of South Park’s most nefarious characters, which also involves genetic mutations, time travel and eldritch horrors. Thankfully you, the “New Kid” from the last game, even after losing all your previous powers thanks to no one playing fantasy anymore, gain new superhero powers, make friends with the South Park kids again and even learn new fart techniques by none other than Morgan Freeman, that help you out along the way. All while also slowly revealing more about your backstory hinted on in the previous game and the tragedy of your dad having had intercourse with your mother.
Being a South Park and RPG fan for years, I wanted to play this game for quite some time, but only managed to do so recently. And even if I spoiled myself massively over time with cutscenes and major battles online, this game is still fun (thanks in part also to the fact I watched the cutscenes years ago and by now forgot a lot of them).  The turn based battle system is way more interesting than last time by also depending on you positioning the characters on the field in a strategy based RPG style, there are lots of classes to choose and powers to combine (I myself going for elementalist, assassin, plantmancer and blaster currently) and you have a ton of allies in the game. The original cast of the four main boys, Jimmy and Butters has expanded significantly in this game with characters such as SUPER CRAIG, Clyde as the blood sucking MOSQUITO, Token as TUPPERWARE and Wendy as the social media huntress CALL GIRL (yes, that is her name) and they all are fun to interact and play with, with each one having their own unique sets of moves and finishers once again. Even outside of the battle, thanks to the writing, there are always great lines from them to get when interacting or taking missions from them. I especially came to love Tweek and Craig, who are not just decent fighters (Tweek in particular is a great elementalist) , but in this game are also now a couple ever since that yaoi episode from South Park. Helping them reconcile after a bad break up over the course of the game just feels surprisingly nice, mostly because unlike other LGBT celebrating media out there (Korra and She Ra  e.g.) none of the characters crosses some sort of moral line where you question why they deserve to be together (Hello, Catra), it is not heavily handed garbage fishing for brownie points and it is obvious through dialogue and actions they care for each other, even if they are at first going through a bad break up as only South Park could ridiculously portray it.
Overall, the game is also surprisingly “inclusive” and socially relevant without being preachy about it, if you ask me. From the aforementioned skin color thing, to LGBT representation via Tweek and Craig, the police being involved in a plot that especially nowadays is sadly more relevant than ever (mind you, I do not believe that in real life all cops are bad, but in my opinion bad eggs on both sides certainly led to the current situation in the US and that is all I say) to the fact you can over the course of the game decide not just if you are playing as a boy or a girl, but even something in-between, a cis-/transgendered person and decide your race, religion as well as to whom you are sexually attracted to. Granted, I barely see how it has any bearing on the game’s plot, but I appreciate the following things: a) the inclusion of the possibility to decide on those factors itself, making creating your character even more fun (a basic right others demand for certain games nowadays in all the wrong ways) and b) that the game does not make the biggest of deals about it. See, I am under the impression that often times the most progressive and inclusive thing is to just let the story and personality of a character speak for itself, instead of the fact that it also identifies by a specific gender, sexuality, race or other allignment. In fact focusing on those things on a character only is something I consider ”positive stereotyping”, which for me is just racism in the opposite direction. And if you no think I am going off track here and need to be beaten up by someone who genuinely has some grip on pc culture, don’t worry. This game features PC Principal actually doing an ok job teaching you about microaggressions in his typical PC Principal manner, which in itself becomes a relevant move in future battles and is hilarious to watch. Speaking of the new kid, putting things like your chance to gender identify yourself with it in more detail (which you can also adjust again later on in game if you feel like it) aside, for a silent protagonist he/she/it can have a nice level of debt to it, if you look too much into it.
Not only does it have a funny backstory explaining its fart and social media powers, there are recurring scenes of the kid’s parents being on each others throat and the kid just silently eating dinner for the night that genuinely feel sad and create sympathy in our little FartLord to the point you just want the kid to go out there, have an adventure and hopefully find a way to change its parents for good, cause it is obvious they love the kiddo, but damn do they need to cut off the substance abuse.
Storywise you get something out of this game that is way more entertaining and hilarious than the last two seasons of the show combined (FUCK the season of 2019) and game content wise you are also rewarded with a lot of shit, just for exploring the town. Be it you finding hidden yaoi fanart that earns you money, your allies helping you solve puzzles that reward you with exp and new costumes to further customize your outfit, making new friends on Coonstagram by taking selfies with all the major and minor characters of the town, helping Big Gay Al finding his missing cats, stumbling upon Memberberries, forging new artifacts to increase your strength, finding summons… all stuff that helps you not just gain exp and become stronger, but also makes you enjoy going through South Park outside of the main story content. In fact I spend a majority of my first twelve hours in this game only wrapping up the prologue missions and first two chapter of the game, while otherwise talking with as many people in town as possible, exploring the stores and houses, doing side missions etc. just for the fun of interacting with the characters and the world they are part of.
Now, how does all of that relate to Dobson?
Well lets see…
Game based on something he hates that has however rightfully more success than he ever deserves, with lots of political commentary and satire for years in its humor? Check.
Game itself having more of that commentary done right then Dobson in his own comics and story attempts? Check
LGBT representation via Tweek and Craig as well as Big Gay Al that does not feel too stereotypical despite Al himself being extremely stereotypical in design? Check
Some pretty decent/hilarious female characters in the game once you know them? (again, Call Girl and Classi, who fucks the L out of the A-S-S) Check.
Being a style of game he hates for no apparent reason, but executed well (RPGs)? Check
Thematically focused on superheroes, a trend he is obsessed about, but here both appreciating while also poking good fun at common tropes of it and the marketing of the MCU, in doing so just highlighting how much of a mindless consumer Dobson is? Check
Being a game where you can also play as any gender and race and its not turned into a “groundbreaking” industry changing feature pandering to minorities that in the eyes of corporations are just a market to exploit, not people? Check
Heck, if Dobson was not a biased idiot, the game would be perfect for him. It even panders to his toilet fetish in videogames.
Kid you not: a mini game in the game itself features the possibility to go to every toilet in town and shit in it. The process of defecation itself being a rhythm game and you earning exp from it once you took enough dumps. And considering Dobson once spend hours in Skyrim looking for outhouses, that sounds right up Dobson’s back alley.
Bottom line, this game is fun. If you like South Park, superheroes and RPGs, this game is perfect for you. And seeing how it has been a few years since it came out, I think it should be possible to get a cheap copy of it somewhere. Go on, play it. But always remember: Never fart on another dude’s balls. It is just not the polite thing to do.

Hello! I've never really done a match up like this before and I'm interested in having one. You are ana amazing writer and I love your blog! I hope I'm doing this right.
My personality:
I'm an infj. I'm quiet when I first meet people because I like to observe people to get a feel for their personality before I even think about opening up to anyone. I've been burned in the past so I'm guarded emotionally. I like making people laugh or happy because I know what its like to have be at war with your own mind and I don't want anyone to feel like that. I tend to bottle up my emotions because I don't like to "burden" others with my issues. I'm not used to depending on anyone and it take a lot for me to admit I need help. I see someone as family, I get protective. When it comes to the people I care about, I'm ok if you insult me but the second you go after the people I care about I will not pull punches.
What I look for in someone:
Reassurance and humor. I have anxiety and depression so I need someone who will give me reassurance. Someone who I can be in the same room with and we can both be content doing different things. Someone who knows I can fight my own battles but will be there for me.
Hobbies:
I love to read. I love expanding my knowledge about anything and everything. If I get stressed, I will read Harry Potter, just because it allows me to escape for awhile. I dabble in creative writing every so often when the mood strikes me.
Baking is another passion of mine. I love trying out recipes, especially if I know someone likes a certain flavor profile. I hardly ever eat what I make, I just make things for people to try. I get nervous when waiting for people to try the stuff I made. If I get stressed out, I will go on baking sprees and make 8-9 different creations.
I drabble in crochet. I enjoy making things for people I care about like blankets. I always get their favorite colors or something they are passionate about and try to find a design to make for them.
I adore animals. Cats, dogs, fish, you name it and I most likely will find it adorable.
------
Hi!!
Thank you for sending in a request, and I’m so sorry for being 84 yrs late;; I hope you like the result regardless- also it’s a honor that i get to be your first matchup!
I decided to match you with Satan! other candidate could be Belphie.
Okay so I think you’d definitely be a part of the Asmo-Satan gang!
So I think the wingman was Asmo. Like he notices early how much Satan tries to flirt with you, trust me he knows his brother the best. No need to worry about Satan though, the man can be confident when needed. Asmo just wanted to push him a little.
I think Satan knows enough about emotions and humans to understand why you would rather observe and get to know someone before you decide to be closer to them. Though he feels emotions rather intensively, he does not judge you about your ways - it’s exactly why he likes you, after all!
The fact that you are emotionally guarded is also something he can respect. Out of the borthers he is the safest choice if you really want someone to take the sweet time of building down your walls slowly, piece by piece.
So Satan is kind of stereoipized as this nerd with huge thoughts, which isn’t false, but that’s not the full image of him. Of course he spends lots of time of his days studying and reading but out of the brothers he is the most focused on his emotional conflicts. Like he is very passionate about hating Lucifer and is very insecure about his own existence. So thats why he just needs someone who as you said, can get his mind off of these thoughts.
On the other hand once he opens up to you about this, he expects you to open up about yourself as well- it is only fair if he can help you too, after all.
Satan is an observer just like you so he qucikly catches on about your love for your family - something that you two share in common. It’s a nice topic to discuss and compilment the other on
Satan has a pretty dark sense of humor, but if you are into that then you already have someone who is not only good at reassuring you, but also at making you chuckle!
I think Satan would be a rather protective bf, but obviously if you want independence he can let you have that as long as you are not in danger.
Oh he would definitely lend you the Devildom version of HP anytime curiosity strikes you!
You couldn’t be faster than him to find out someone’s favourites. He is also a baker, though not as good as Barbatos but defintiely better than the demon he despises so much. I this relationship you two would bake every Wednesday afternoon and each time you could try somehting different. I think he would be creative enough to spice cupcakes up a little bit.
I think he would be honored to recieve baked goods from the human words through you (is that called smuggling.. or cultural exchange) to try! though he is not the stomach of the family, I think he would actually eat more than usual if it was made by you!
Imagine cuddling with him near the fireplace in the blanket you made!!! even if he is not very affectionate in front of others... when it’s your blanket it’s special, you know!
Well being with would feel like having your own cat become a human-
Jokes aside, adopting a cat with him is inevitable in the future - just be prepared to hold him back before the situation can get out of hand as if it was up to him, he would bring home alll the cats there are!

have you done antinomy from 5ds?
You're in luck i have not!
While antimony is his actual name since i know him better as Bruno I'm gonna mostly refer to him as Bruno (assuming i have the right character lol)
What i like about him/what i don't:
I mean in terms of being antinomy i like the idea of despite being from the future working for Z-one he prefers to instead of appear as his enemy as such he likes to kind of guide yusei to break limits so that he may overcome tougher opponents and obstacles which was really noticeable in their s5 riding duel
In terms of him being bruno however i like how even Thou he was amnesiac he didn't want to build a hostile relationship between him and team5ds for when he would regain the memory of being antinomy he genuinely cared and wanted to help them out the best he could he's just a general good boy as Bruno.
What i don't like however is probably more just a general thing
The fact that he was working for Z-one in the first place sad ik reasonable in the sense of betrayal hurts yes but probably a very dumb reason
I also don't like the circumstances that he met yusei and Co under as Bruno in the sense of the fact that he was amnesiac that satilite couldn't afford to keep in prison (just so he doesn't go a walking and getting into trouble) bc of the WRGP so mina and ushio just ask them to take him in bc well who tf else could they ask apparently. Could've avoided a bunch a trouble with Jack when he caught Bruno tinkering with wheel of fortune if the circumstances had been a lot more casual.
What i like about his appearance:
Antinomy's design is very suttle in look. The thing that really sticks out is probably the visor as it's a more vivid colour compared to the rest of his outfit which probably makes it even more heartwrenching when you see it break when he dies bc just like the rest of him, the vibrance of his life died too. The hair style is pretty neat too being kinda slicked up
His design as Bruno is more symbolic of his vibrance as you know
A lot more lighter suttle colours as complimented by his white jacket with the primary colours in places
I think the white could also be symbolic of the fact that as Bruno he's very innocent and pure but as antinomy he's not however maybe all the blue is symbolic of justice?? Not totally sure
Tumblr media
Do i prefer dub or sub names:
I know both versions call him Bruno
But I'm not sure if the dub called him something else depending on the one time they dueled in 73 or 74.
Favourite card they used
While I'm not sure if T.G Star Guardian was ever used in the anime (probably not considering most monster cards that have any resemblance to a cannon character got released after their respective series, well probably except for kaibaman and some photon cards and putting yubel aside bc they were a duel spirit) if not I'd probably say T.G Halberd Railcannon I think that's the right name don't really know the Tech Genius archetype that well.
Favourite scene they were in:
Tbh a lotta the Bruno is ep80 bc yusei just brings home this skinny tall guy and starts talking d wheels n their tech with him and everyone's just like either their love birds or annoyed that Yusei's apparently having a Serious Conversation with him (Ahem looking at you jack atlas) i like how they're talking about how revolutionary Dr Fudo was for the creation of Turbo/Riding Duels and the whole thing about how yusei was named after the Yusei Gear and that apparently duels is the main gear that connects everyone together (when really i think it's actually yusei but hey) it's a nice anatomy
And as Antinomy i saw a clip of this weird yet wonderful magical girl transformation (that's actually canon) where he goes from being bruno to just transforming into antinomy its strange but its unique (well ok vrains did take the magical girl approach with sequences of Yusaku becoming Playmaker Takeru becoming Soulburner and Aoi as Blue girl becoming Blue Maiden after meeting aqua but they weren't as weird as this)
Also all enemy buissness aside his duel with yusei in s5 for how he was practically training yusei to surpass his limits
Least favourite scene they were in:
Just his death really
It's heartwrenching
OTP:
Toolshipping (Yusei and Bruno)
Yeah I mean it's basically two tech dorks together and Heck the twins said they're like lovebirds plus Bruno has the honor of being the person the protagonist dramatically screams out their name due to loosing them (whether that be death or just missing n those sorta situations)
NOTP:
Bruno x sherry
Not exactly sure if anyone ships it other than for joking that Yugo from arc-V is their child but I just don't feel for it even if they've the connection of both being in alligence with Z-one
Speaking of Z-one
Antinomy x Z-one - remembering that Z-one isn't actually yusei and is only someone who cloned himself to look like yusei
Unless this was just like a dark version au of tool where Z-one actually as Yusei (as hinted as something to wish for in the final volume of the 5ds manga) i just don't see it working
Basically anyone who's working for Z-one i don't ship with him
OT3 :
I think i mentioned once before on either yusei or Jack's about an OT3 between these three so why not
Bruno x Yusei x Yusaku TECH DORKS UNITE
I mean you've the all tech enthusiasts right there. I mean hey with yusaku's hacking and programming skills i bet the three could make one hell of a D-wheel motor
Would i fuck marry or kill:
Again like many others I'd just hug him.

Deme Rates Villagers Part 2, Anteaters
While I build my hype for New Horizons, I thought I’d do something a little dumb. I thought I’d give my rating on all the villagers based primarily on their designs, though if I have a personal feeling, I’ll put it down as well. Please note that, with one (joking) exception, I love Animal Crossing’s villagers. They’re all good dogs, Bront, event the ones who are not dogs. So this is on a curve, and done in nit-picking good humor, so let’s just have fun! images are from the wiki, and so are going to be somewhat large or irregularly-sized. My scale is made up, and the points aren’t real.
That’s basically my standard disclaimer here.
Tumblr media
Anabelle
I love everything about Anabelle. Her cute eyes! Her complementary color scheme! Her concept! Her place in my New Leaf town!
Design-wise, the sort of scaly texture and unfeathered tail she has is clearly intended to evoke the pangolin, or “scaly anteater,” a charmingly scaly little mammal who sometimes look like they want to apologize for something. I really, really like pangolins. I’ll add that the tropical theme to her default outift and decor suggests to me the Sunda or Phillipine Pangolin, both of which are native to Southeast Asia. I like any villager who’s going to make me go on a brief listing of biology facts.
She’s lived in Argent, my New Leaf town, for quite a while now, since I settled its final villagers. I imagine her as a young lady who left her hometown to make a name for herself, possibly fire dancing. Anyway, I’m fond of her on a personal level in addition to a design level, with the attachment built up over the years, and so, she has an unquestionable place in my heart, and a bright little bell out behind her house.
10, but with some cute stars around it that make it worth several thousand /10
Tumblr media
Annalisa
Annalisa sure has an aesthetic, which she is designed for and devoted to without a single deviation or hesitance. And for that, I have to respect her. She looks like she should be a snooty, even though she isn’t -- it’s the heavily made-up look. On the whole, I find her design a little unsettling even though I don’t actually find Japanese dolls unsettling. I think if it were me, I’d maybe change the eyes just a little bit, aiming for something a bit less severe, and maybe a bit more empty.
The concept of rating has no ability to describe how I feel / 10, I guess.
Tumblr media
Antonio
He’s a very natural looking Giant Anteater, a fact which I appreciate, even if the effect is that he looks like he has a neck beard. Add to that his surprised little eyebrows and cute blank eyes, and he’s an undoubtedly charming little fellow.
Very Charming / o.o
Tumblr media
Aside from his fantastic big square eyebrows and freckly nose, both excellent traits, there’s not enough for me to really recommend him; his design is sort of random, I don’t really care for that orange.
Except that I love him very, very much. Because Cyrano was one of the first villagers in my New Leaf town of Argent, and quickly became a fast friend. My grouchy buddy. I themed the entire area in front of my Re-tail, where he lived, after him, filling it with all the zen public works projects he requested, which were some of my favorites. And then he moved away, and I was a little heartbroken. There’s a zen garden where his house used to be, in memorial. I’ve always rather wanted him back, but once it was possible with amiibo cards, I had a town full of other villagers I love. Maybe our paths will cross again someday.
100/10, perfect in every way, and that stands to make a very good point. Things become lovable, things become perfect, simply by the act of being loved. Given his name, it’s a fitting thought. (I also could have given him a rating
....Well, this is going to make moving on to the rest of the anteaters somewhat anticlimactic, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
Lulu
So, another villager who was an islander in Animal Forest E+, and was never seen or heard from again. This is the only picture the wiki has, and so I am honestly a bit incapable of judging her, I can’t really form an opinion on this.
-/10. I see nothing to dislike, and nothing to recommend her. If I had more or better pictures, those cute little dot eyes could go somewhere.
Tumblr media
Nosegay
It’s Nosegay! Juvenile jokes aside, this is a type of small bouquet of flowers, and also a pun on her big honking nose. Possibly because of the name, or maybe because there’s not much about her, she hasn’t come back since Animal Crossing (or Animal Forest E+, whatever.) She sure is brown, but I can’t say she really evokes a specific type of anteater for me, she’s just brown and white.
I have said all I can about Nosegay, and will rate her a Tussie-Mussie / Bouquet. (Tussie-Mussie? Why is that a thing someone called that?)
Tumblr media
Olaf
Goodness, but look at this. The hair, looking like it was dipped in a thing of styling gel and allowed an artful curl down his face. The eyebrows! The lower lashes! Honestly, he packs a lot into a few details, and I am very pleased with this smug matador-looking fellow.
On the downside, having not had Olaf in town, I don’t know what he looks like in a different shirt very clearly, and I worry it spoils his impact... A quick google search gives me better pictures of him in other outfits, and the result is silly rather than just ruinous. Good! I approve.
0le!/10
Tumblr media
Pango
Pango’s color scheme is nice, but not really evocative, so the effect is sort of “she’s just kind of a colorful ant-eater.” Which isn’t a bad design call, or anything, so much as it makes it hard for me to form a real opinion. She’s got that swirl reminiscent of hair, she has that nicely snooty eyeshadow and eyelash.
5/10, gotta have some actual ratings sometimes.
Tumblr media
Snooty
Snooty is Snooty, and that fact alone brings Snooty points. The eyebrows and eyes on her give her a distinct character in a way her color scheme doesn’t quite do, aesthetically-pleasing though the golden edges of her tail are. That character isn’t quite enough or pleasant enough for me, but it is there. She came back with Welcome Amiibo after not being seen since Animal Crossing, which is looking like a theme with Anteaters. Poor dears.
Snooty / Snoot
Tumblr media
Zoe
I don’t get Zoe. I can’t quite tell why her neck has those hard lines, or that little lump. Is she supposed to look robotic? Or like a toy? Is that some sort of funky little goiter? I’m sorry, I do not know, cannot guess, and do not like this.  The wiki suggests that, with that little tuft of brown “hair” on her forehead, she may be wearing a hood, ala Chrissie and Francine. This explains nothing.
????? / 10 She hasn’t been back since Animal Crossing, and I am OK with this.
Surprised at the how sporadic anteaters are, honestly, both in my preferences and in their presence in the games. I do want more, because those fluffy tails are very cute.

What's your opinion about the red leader/tord design?
ohhh, I’ll give it to you with pleasure anon ! I hope you’re ready, long rant ahead bc im an art student and that means, I’m Overly Technical, I Throw Personal Opinions Around, And I’m Probably Too Mean For What Eddsworld Is
for those who did not see it :
Tumblr media
anyway
so let’s start with starters. shape. when you first look at the design you notice immediatly : it’s triangles and rectangles (aside from the lonely ass knee pads. and belt which are just “shield” coded) what the fuck this mean ?? well, triangles = DANGURUS, S H A R P n shit. you get it, the codes for danger and stabby shit. it’s also the code for hierarchies n such cause pyramids. this guy is high in the hierarchies, this guy is made to step on people and shred them. curvy + pointy = teary. simple designs maths. its ideal for cartoon characters who are pretty outside = inside coded. after, ngl, they went /super basic/, whats “expected” when you go with that. rectangle legs and feet, triangle torso, square jaw, yadda yadda… they laid down the stereotypes and called it a day.
now let’s see the colours, which are treated pretty much the same. you have classic black for darkness, evil and death, classic red for blood, war and yadda yadda, eletric blue for electricity and basic robot aesthetics, gold for power and wealth and royalty, and of course because tord is a basic tankie bitch who wears the communist colours. theyre p average but at least they aren’t at full saturation so-
anyway. next layer of rant. the “themes” for the clothes. ok its just, obvious magneto copycat with a mix of the clothes from typical centurion outfit but robot and your average modern army clothes. we get it, honour, strenght, war, evil, yadda yadda. extra average. looks like the phantoms from the zelda franchise too. symetric but not too much cause arms. and tbfh they bother me- the robotic one just…. doesn’t make sence ? you have precise groups of muscles that are set in a precise way to move one way or another. and this arm simply just doesn’t respect them at all and they dont seem to be any sort of functional whatsoever in their setup. I’m not sure how he could lift his arms with his shoulders pillons setup this way. I also fail to understand how the robot exoskeleton on the other arm works, and I honestly find it God Damn Ugly like bitch ! that aint following no movement whatsoever. it’s fucking shapeless, yikes ! yea point being, nice try but it’s super average and the arms would need a Lot of work. also capes are terrible in modern fights because they get stuck everywhere and if there’s wind they can make it harder to be stable which is shit if you need to aim at stuff but w/e.
however, what’s interesting is a winks about the previous stuff, namely the black hoodie. it’s funny cause tord’s developpement went a bit like this, when you look : nerd who faps at hentai and loves guns -> asshole who doubles as miracle scientist with dreams a little too big to be good -> kylo ren- okay okay that was a joke. but point stands still, total dictator who is a little too edgy for his own good, literally wants to rule the world as an absolute god. it’s very stereotypical but if they had made part 2 of tord’s developpement a lil more funny, I bet it’d have gone well. they switched tones and its where it just didnt work. eh well.
so yeah summed up, its a very average design. hard to distinguish from your average mary sue. but, guess what ? mary sues can be pulled off with the right universe. they can go and make him a villain that smashes everything with little thoughs and… itd be perfectly in line with what he did previously. I mean, cmon. we’re talking about “I moved in the house of my ex friends and bugged them for ages and bullied them and blew up their house when i couldve just pretended to come for a visit of a day or just broken in to get the robot and be done with it, aka im an edgelord doing unecessary shit just for the sake of wrecking stuff”. of course that guy would want overdone outfits that barely look functionnal ! of course hed be like these stereotypical brute leaders ! hes a walking parody of them- after yeah, couldve done it better. couldve either pushed the evil even deeper into the stereotypes to make it ridiculous just like that outfit. i could see it with the new costume. that or, tord trying to be evil, but his outfit just… keeps getting in the way. stepping on the cape/getting it stuck in doors, barely being able to move his arms, constantly suffocating under the headgear, etc… could work. but I can’t see tomska make it work, sorry. i say a lot of things here but ngl, I’m 90% sure they didn’t think of even half of what I said when they did the design. so lol.
anyway, hold my faygo. i have the rep of being a wizard able to make anything look good n hot. so sit down and watch while i demonstrate. see also : tweaking a lil the design
Tumblr media
(didnt turn as good as planned so will give another shoot tommorow. i still cant draw hoodie hoods fdjskdjdsk)
Big Sib, [06.02.18 23:30]he goes out and poledances in the same outfit, probably

Winter 2018 Final Impressions
I’m a month late, as usual (whoops!), but here’s my final thoughts on the animes I watched this past season!
The “reviews” will be in alphabetical order!
3-gatsu no Lion S2 - 9.0 / 10 (A)
This second season of 3-gatsu was great! It’s just… a really great drama show about fighting depression (& a bunch of other character storylines)!
First off... THE BULLYING ARC WAS REALLY GOOD
extremely complicated, emotionally complex… this arc brings all sorts of emotions & angles into the forefront
multiple perspectives too: Hina’s, Rei’s, the bullied girl’s, the bully’s, the teachers’, and Akari too!
The art style can pull off both thick-outlined / bright colored style and watercolor-esque style incredibly well
it really is beautiful how it can visually portray both light-hearted and emotionally intense scenes
This season continues to show how good it is at character development for characters both main & supporting!
We get to see Rei moving through the ranks as a shogi player
and also moving through the ranks of conquering his depression! He’s improved more than ever before!
We get to learn about the white-haired master player (Souya); I liked how he has his own quicks and challenges he has in his daily life
Along with the other head shogi guy (Yanagihara)! (& how he shoulders his legacy for his friends)
Even the last episode offered some perspective from the foster mom about Rei & her kids
this show is just… really good at making normally-hated characters sympathetic, hot damn
Aside from bullying arc, this season also showed Hina preparing for the transition to high school
The finale episode was nice and sweet, with Hina saying goodbye to Takahashi and even getting a haircut!
This continues to be one of the best drama anime in recent years! Not to mention SHAFT’s best show since Madoka Magica :3
Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Z - 7.5 - 8.0 / 10 (C+)
And so ends the G series of Cardfight Vanguard… this final season I’ll say though is kind of a mixed bag
The plot had interesting ideas and moments at times, but the execution and pacing left a bit to be desired
though I will say it was definitely better than last season (CFV G NEXT)
This season didn’t waste any time getting to the main plot, as Chrono has to face off against a Diffrider right away
the diffrider stuff is continued from last season, but for the most part, it’s a new plot kicking off!
The rollout of all the new Diffrider Apostles (& them showing their strength) definitely made them look like powerful foes
not to mention the Zeroth Dragons, which were also shown to be powerful and very risky to use
Also knowing that anyone in the main cast could end up being The Vessel added some intrigue as well
the reveal that Kazuma would be the vessel definitely was a well executed twist imo~
However the pacing in places felt a bit too fast for me… the Relics subplot felt like it wrapped up too quickly, for example
the final fight against Gyze also kinda felt rushed… Gyze didn’t even have any dying words after his defeat :/
As a final season specifically, I feel like it kinda pales in comparison to Stride Gate, unfortunately
The cast was also kinda hit and miss in terms of how well they were utilized in the plot
some of the apostles definitely had more screen time than others (gredora only got like… two episodes)
plus gastille (the supposed apostle leader) got beaten sooner than like 3 other ones???
some villains carry over from last season too, such as Noa (Chaos Breaker) and the red-head punk kid
I liked all the new villains this season, personality-wise! (Also Yukari Tamura in there is a plus)
also no Am and Luna this season, really…
the previously established OG cast were integrated fine, for the most part
including Aichi and Kai getting the kill against Chaos Breaker Dragon
but the final episodes kinda just shoe-horn in a bunch of cameos that just didn’t feel natural :/
it just felt like “OH SHIT, this is the last season actually! Quick, throw in a bunch of cameos!”
this also applies to G characters, which makes less utilized characters (like Am & Luna, as mentioned before) look out of place :(
Sure, I’m saying a bunch of negative stuff right now, but I REALLY LOVE THIS CAST… I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR THEM
It’s the main reason I love CFV G, after all~
This season was definitely an improvement over NEXT for sure! The plot was interesting, I just wish the conclusion was better
The final episode basically just felt like an OVA, really… aside from the last scene, it didn’t really feel like an epilogue at all
I guess it just bums me out bc the original series got a good epilogue episode, so I know they could do it here, too…
In any case, I’M GONNA MISS THIS CAST, BIG TIME ;A;
In any case, this was a decent season to end the G series with! Not the strongest, but not the weakest either.
I’m gonna look back on my time with CFV G fondly for sure, if for nothing else than the great ensemble cast :’)
It’s gonna be weird going back to the OG cast for sure… I arguably liked the G cast better than the OG one :’D
Osomatsu-san S2 - 8.0  / 10 (B)
The consensus among fans seems to be that this season wasn’t as good as the first season
As for me, I… probably agree with that (though I still enjoyed this season!)
As with most comedy anime, whether the jokes land is pretty subjective. I feel like I didn’t laugh as hard this season? IDK
There were more “seasonal/holiday”-based episodes this time around (i.e. summer, new year’s, etc.)
What stays the same though is that this show is at its best when featuring the main brothers themselves
Skits involving the side characters (like Iyami, Dayon, etc.) didn’t make me laugh much…
I will say though that I enjoyed the second half of the season more than the first half~
Enough about the negatives, let’s talk about this season’s memorable skits / episodes!
The premiere was really good, as it poked fun at the huge popularity the show unexpectedly got xD
plus a bunch of references that *aren’t* gonna get them removed from streaming sites this time!
Jyushimatsu getting an “apprentice” with a little kid was also pretty funny~
The Karamatsu taxi skit, the spooky inn, & all the characters being stuck on an island were also good skits!
Ep. 18 (Iyami, Alone in the Wind) was also a crowd favorite, since it brought the feels for a change :’)
The finale 2-parter pulled a bait-and-switch yet again!
Part 1 was actually pretty serious, but the actual finale just has them trying to break out of hell xD
OH YEAH, I still really like the live-action stuff they do during the ending sequences
the first half’s ED was my favorite (the stop-motion of the brothers riding in the car)
I don’t have much to say about comedies generally, but Osomatsu-san is still my favorite in recent years ^^
Even though this season didn’t hit as hard as S1, it still provided some fun laughs~
Pop Team Epic - 7.5 / 10 (C+)
What can I really say about this show? It kind of defies description ^^;
Ok, yeah, it’s a sketch comedy, but it’s a really… crazy and random sketch comedy
The jokes are hit and miss (and in my experience was a bit more… miss than hit)
I never really laughed out loud at this show either
but then again, the humor here is more “being confused at what’s going on, but going along with it anyway”
There’s also a lot of modern anime references, so you might not get those jokes if you don’t follow most recent anime
Each episode has a long skit in it, plus a bunch of bite-size skits
I personally preferred the short skits over the long ones
There were a couple song parodies which I enjoyed (including the Earth Wind & Fire parody)
Also, this series definitely benefits from having an English simuldub! Some skits I found funnier in English!
OH YEAH, the voice actors (in both languages) change every episode, with female and male VAs in each episode
that enhanced the enjoyability of the sketches too, since I liked hearing favorite VAs do silly dialogue and performances!
I wouldn’t say this ranks among my favorite anime comedies, but it’s definitely unlike any other I’ve seen! ^^;
Your mileage will *definitely* vary with this one, so give it a try and see if it’s for you!
The Ancient Magus’ Bride (Mahoutsukai no Yome) - 8.5 - 9 / 10 (A-)
This was a very enjoyable fantasy drama show! Some people feel this show was overhyped, but I still thought it was really good!
I really liked the cast overall, especially Chise
She has really good character development throughout the show! She really becomes more strong and confident!
Seeing the fantastical world through her eyes was interesting as well!
Especially since those mystical elements were also responsible for her terrible childhood…
Elias was also an interesting guy… he and Chise have an interesting relationship together
Their relationship definitely has aspects that are unhealthy, but they do grow closer to each other by the end
If people can’t get past the whole premise of “him buying Chise to be his bride” though, I totally understand ^^;
They help each other learn too, which I liked to see
The supporting cast was also enjoyable! Not much to say about them individually though
The dragon keeper was nice and we got to learn about Elias’ origins through him
The dragons in general were great! Especially the old one that turned into a tree :’)
He gives Chise some good sage advice, even after death :’)
Angelica, Silky, and Stella (among others, like the other anti-hero duo) were good support characters too~
I liked Stella’s role of “normal girl who learns of the supernatural’s existence”
Cartaphilus was an… okay villain, I guess (though his methods were quite creepy indeed, which added some intrigue)
Some character designs are a bit questionable though… like who approved the vampire’s design? ^^;
Another large appeal of this was the world building of the fantastical elements!
I liked seeing all the different types of locales & supernatural creatures, both good and bad
As a low-fantasy show, this show does a Dang Good Job with the fantasy!
Chise learning more about herself and gaining confidence through these experiences were a highlight as well
I enjoyed each story arc as well, even though most of them were more explorative and introspective
This show can be dang beautiful sometimes, through both its art/animation and its stories (Thanks, Studio WIT!)
Some were better than others, but they all deliver either a heartwarming (or a dark) story
Some favorites of mine were the dragon-based ones, and the vampire loving the old man
The finale was good too! It’s unknown whether this conclusion is anime-original or not, but it was definitely a good S1 ending~
If you love low-fantasy shows, this is definitely one to check out!
Violet Evergarden - 8.5 - 9.0 / 10 (A-)
Best *new* anime (that I watched) of this past season, hands down~
Though to be fair, I still need to watch A Place Farther than the Universe… and Yuru Camp… and After the Rain…
Going into this season, this show was hyped and back and somehow… a lot of people were *disappointed* with this show?
I think it had to do with expecting a different show than what we got; as for me, I knew it’d be an episodic drama the whole time :P
But yes, this show has a (mostly) episodic plot with an overarching character arc. If that’s too slow for you, then you probably won’t like this show.
In any case, back to the positives! The first one being how good this show looks visually… as expected from KyoAni~
there’s so much detail in the backgrounds and the character elements (especially the lighting on objects like Violet’s metal hands)
this aspect is one thing *everyone* agrees on regardless, so… yeah, this show’s really pretty!
The main star (and focus) of this show was Violet herself… you can really see how she changes for the better from beginning to end
You get to see how “robot-like” she was at the start of the show, but she slowly learns about dealing with emotions of others… and herself
This character arc is definitely the “main” plot of the show, along with her coming to terms with Gilbert’s death and her war killings
The episodic plots were good in their own right, too!
Ranging from Violet’s start as a Memoir Doll to the different clients she works with, they all teach her something along the way
These sometimes focus on the side characters working at the Doll Agency too, so we get to learn more about them as well
The one that comes to mind first is Iris’ episode, where she (messily) reconnects with a former lover
Not all of them get a full episode in the spotlight, but they do get some focus scenes from time to time
Violet’s clientele episodes were the most memorable out of this lot IMO
ESPECIALLY EPISODE 10… that was the BIGGEST feels trip
I knew exactly how the episode was going to end, but I still teared up at that ending!
The finale was action packed, but also was a beautiful way to show how far Violet has come
I know some people’s issue with this show is that “it doesn’t know what show it wants to be” re: the action stuff, but I was fine with it personally
in any case, it was a pretty good book-end for Violet’s development, since she finally understands (a least a little) what “I love you” means :’)
I understand certain people’s gripes with this show, but this really is a great little drama show that *will* deliver the feels~
P.S. I also watched Fate/Extra: Last Encore this season. It hasn’t technically ended yet, so I can’t give final impressions on it right now. However, my current score for it is a 7.5/10 (C+).

Thoughts On the Beauty of Katsuki Yuuri
apparently there’s been a debate going on about whether yuuri ought to be called beautiful or not? idk, here’s my thoughts on the issue I guess, for what it’s worth.
Tumblr media
I’m just gonna start off by saying I think yuuri is a REALLY well-designed character. there’s a lot to talk about here! his design is not only appealing and charming (because tadashi hiramatsu is a goddamn professional) but I’d even go a step further and say that the finer points of yuuri’s character design are also a vehicle that communicates the show’s themes. this is a really impressive and unfortunately rare thing in anime these days!
When Hiramatsu has talked about his thought process for designing yuuri in the past, he’s said that yuuri is meant to look as plain as possible. this is pushed further by comparing him to the rest of the flashy-looking characters in the cast, but I’ll just use victor for now as a point of comparison.
Yuuri: he’s Japanese, obviously. He has many prototypical japanese features (black hair, brown eyes, shorter legs etc). His looks are virtually never commented on by anyone in the story, and when they are it is most often in a negative light, though it is mentioned his skating is beautiful. Victor: he’s russian. he has straight-up silver hair and really bright, somewhere-between-blue-and-turquoise eyes. uh... this is... normal for russians..? he is universally acknowledged in canon as, at the very least, distractingly good looking, causing heart attacks and fainting spells all around him with but one wink.
point is victor looks like an anime character, and yuuri looks like a real person, comparatively.
however, the MOST IMPORTANT feature of yuuri’s design is how dramatically he can change his look and still be recognizable as himself.

Like...??!?!
ok yeah this is obvious, I know it is, because I know every single one of us had A Reaction when yuuri turned on the eros for the first time. After inching closer and closer to a nervous breakdown for the first 3 episodes, we get nice and comfortable in our perception of what yuuri’s character type is; then the Onsen On Ice event comes and he suddenly does a 180 and becomes Sexy Confidence Personified for 2 minutes on the ice. I’m thinking woah, this is the fabled Gap Moe, where a character’s seemingly predominant personality traits are contradicted in certain situations. The gap moe only works because we love to be surprised, which just happens to be a recurring theme in YOI. :O
But yoi handled characterization really well and sidestepped a number of oft-tread tropey paths for most of the characters. Especially Yuuri. The series portrays him as having a wide range of feelings, motivations, and reactions to things. He is revealed more and more to be a really complex, real-feeling person. The expressiveness of his design, and his ability to transform visually in so many different ways (there are so many different variations of his design! his body goes through physical changes as well as his changes of attitude physically changing his design. is this why he has 3 different nendoroids already...?) reinforces the wide range of his personality as well. His well-written character and carefully-designed outward appearance work together to express a really believable person, who is capable of surprising us with his depth episode after episode.
So, think of yourself as Victor, for a moment. The first time he sees yuuri, he arguably doesn’t even recognize him as a skater, from looking at him. Nothing special, probably just a fan, of which he has and has-seen zillions. Victor, like the viewer, comes to appreciate yuuri by experiencing his depths over time, learns how he works and how to exist successfully alongside him, and eventually comes to really capital-L Love him. As the viewer, speaking for myself, I found myself developing my feelings for this character at much the same trajectory as victor: over time, and in response to his gradually-revealed depths. My first impression was indeed of a shy, plain, regular-ass guy. I was like “oh looks like Hiramatsu re-used Parasyte Guy again” (which, lol, joke’s on me: Parasyte Guy is also designed with versatility of his look in mind). That’s all you get when you see a person for the first time. Just an impression based entirely on how they look. It is completely purposeful that he looks pretty regular in the beginning, to the viewer and to victor. Because it makes uncovering all the beautiful details SO much more enchanting.
it’s necessary for yuuri to come off as plain in the beginning, because how else will we feel that sweet, sweet surprise when he brings the Eros all of a sudden?
I think, as viewers, we fall in love with yuuri just as victor does. As we accumulate knowledge of his personality, little things about him start to take on beauty you probably wouldn’t have noticed as keenly at first. It’s what can take you from:

I’d argue it’s appropriate to call yuuri “plain-looking”. He looks like a regular person (well, caveat: he looks like a regular figure skater. that’s the only explanation for his ass) His magnetism is not in blinding, fae-like beauty like Victor’s or Yuri P’s. The effect of his confidence is never as obvious on him as it is one someone like JJ, with his near-permanent smirk and half-lidded eyes. the appeal of his eros isn’t like Chris’ overt, exaggerated sexuality with full lips, bright eyes, and prominent eyelashes. He never even really fits into the Eros costume perfectly. it’s never skin-tight on him. It is even, technically, a borrowed costume. But while not really fitting his body, it grows more becoming on him as he brings more and more of his genuine feelings into his performance.
(as an aside: one of the only times a character outright calls yuuri himself beautiful, it’s Victor, and yuuri is wearing his free skate costume, designed for a routine that expresses yuuri’s own emotions and development of himself. a.k.a.: symbolizes everything I’m talking about here lol)
Yuuri’s beauty is never JUST about how he looks, because that’s not how his character was constructed in the first place. Our impression of him is crafted carefully over the course of the series, using his character design and character writing in tandem with eachother. It is through Yuuri that the show’s recurring theme of Surprise is delivered, as yuuri continuously surprises his audience, himself, Victor, and us as viewers. Just because he is indeed “plain-looking”, doesn’t mean he isn’t also so, so beautiful. Yuuri’s beauty flows out gently from within him and manifests in response to learned facets of his personality. His smiles are so beautiful because you’ve seen him in his worst panic. His eros is so mesmerizing because you’ve seen how hard he’d struggled to access it, because you know what honest feelings he tapped into to release it; alluring, because you realize the shy, plain dude from the beginning is just the top layer. Every Yuuri we see is an honest yuuri, it’s all recognizably him, and the variety and surprise as you watch him open up to you and you begin to piece all these visions of Yuuri together into a cohesive picture of his character... is what leads you to fall in love with him, and see him as beautiful. Much like what drew victor to fall in love with him, and see him as beautiful. Much like how a real person might fall in love with a real person, and come to find their beauty as well.
Very few of us are like Victor Nikiforov, Instantly Stunning With A Chin So Perfect It Could Fell A God. Most of us are Katsuki Yuuris, overlooked by 99.9999% of people on the street, but whose beauty waits to be seen by someone who wants to look close enough.
so anyway I guess this is why I’M not completely sold on fics and stuff where victor is immediately all hummina-hummina over him. I just feel like that skips over the most interesting angle of Yuuri himself, and imo it’s just plain less interesting to read about a relationship where BOTH sides are smoking hot in much the same way...? There’s something really interesting to me in acknowledging something is plain but finding it absolutely beautiful in its simplicity at the same time. Somehow reminded I heard of a fic where kissing was described as, instead of sweet or fiery or melting, “tastes like mouth”. That’s just... so memorable and wonderful to me, lol.
this sort of bleeds into a thing I’ve been thinking about writing on designing sets of characters anyway, ideas about contrasting the designs against eachother and using a character design to subvert expectations later on down the line. related, but eh. it’s why I latch so hard onto the idea that yuuri can be considered genuinely plain AND beautiful AND sexy all at the same time, just cause... that’s the kind of effect I’ve been trying to achieve in my characters for a long time XD
Anyway that was a ramble, ty for reading, yuri on ice saved my soul goodnight
