Helena Bertinelli/Huntress Reading List/Completionist Guide
Helena Bertinelli is the Huntress of Prime Earth. She has existed as a character since 1989, and has appeared in her own series as well as multiple other series throughout the years. Most well known for being a Bird of Prey, she has a long history that tends to be hard to track. Instead of hunting down all of the issues, this guide has every one of her appearances in the attempt to follow her chronologically, but where her movements couldn’t be followed the natural passing of time was used to follow the story.
This is both a reading list and a completionist guide. This means there will be times when the issue only has a cameo of Helena. For a casual reader this list may be a little much. If that is the case click [here] for a shorter list that can get you started on Helena.

Maverick opened his mouth, but he was unable to speak.
He had stayed up all night working on what he was going to say today. He had gone through draft after draft until the morning light began to creep across his papers and his hand cramped painfully. However, he had thought he had finally settled on something he could be proud of.
Yet, as he stood next to the portrait of the man who had been closer than a brother to him for over three decades and stared down at the shiny mahogany box in front of him, those perfectly crafted words failed him.
He knew his elegy would give Ice the farewell he deserved, however, it still wasn’t good enough. How do you condense 30 years of loyal friendship down to a few lines on a page? How can you recall every laugh, every tear, every moment of support or encouragement in just a few minutes? How can you say a final goodbye to the person who was always there?
Maverick opened his mouth again but the words refused to come out. They remained lodged in his throat, making it nearly impossible to breathe. He tried to swallow, but it just made it worse. Tears threatened to slip from his eyes and wondered what everyone else saw as they stared expectantly at him.
Scanning the crowd full of friends old and new, his eyes were drawn to one person in particular. He hadn’t consciously sought him out—he hadn’t even known where he would be standing—but when Maverick locked eyes with his godson, he paused.
For a moment, they held each other’s gaze, almost daring the other to make the first move. Bradley looked stoic and strong as he held his head high, but even despite their years of separation, Maverick knew him well enough to see the clenching of his jaw and the tightness in his shoulders. It seemed like he wasn’t the only one struggling to keep his composure.
Then, so slightly that Maverick almost wondered if he imagined it, Bradley nodded his head.
The gesture was so small, yet so meaningful, that Maverick’s knees almost gave out as a wave of relief and calm washed over him. The last time he and Bradley had talked was back on the base when Bradley finally confronted him about pulling his papers. Maverick had always known when that moment came, it would be painful but he never expected to hear Bradley say the things he said that night. If Warlock hadn’t interrupted with the news of Ice’s death, he could only imagine what else his godson would have thrown furiously in his face.
And yet, at this moment, when Maverick needed it more than he ever had before, Bradley gave him an olive branch. It might be small and it might be fueled by the loss of someone who meant the world to both of them, but it was a sign that there still might be hope for them after all.
Glancing down at the casket before him, a smile slowly spread across Maverick’s face. Even in death, Ice had found a way to help him one last time. They might have always disagreed about who was the better pilot even until the very end, but there was never a doubt about who the better wingman was.
Clearing his throat, Maverick opened his mouth and began to speak.

what was jason like as robin? like personality wise and behavioral wise?
I've seen a lot of fanon stuff that really contradicts canon, but also some stuff in canon that contradicts other canon. I'm just curious to know what the most accurate idea of robin!jason is
tbh there isnt really an easy answer to this!! theres no completely accurate interpretation bc nothing in comics is allowed to be simple </3 (also before i continue id like to add a little disclaimer that ive never read any pre-crisis robin jason SORRY so this is all based on post-crisis)
i honestly think that we've all overcorrected by saying that jason was just a sweet little ray of sunshine during his robin years bc thats not really accurate :( he wasnt the Angry Robin that a lot of comics say he was but he wasnt constantly happy
really he was only harsher (harsh isnt really the right word but i cant think of a good word to describe it) in the beginning and in the end of his time as robin bc when he was starting out he was kinda coming to terms with everything (not to mention like his second arc was finding out that two-face murdered his father #lol) so it wasnt easy for him
then in the end (it was all starlin's fault but for the sake of this post we're gonna look at this from a watsonian perspective) he was getting more comfortable with bruce & alfred so he was able to mourn his parents for the first time
(twice for size)
and honestly even in barr's run (certified Little Guy Jason run) he had some similar moments
(twice for size again bc i just really like this whole page lol)
HOWEVER i think its very important to mention that every time jason was really upset they SPECIFICALLY said that it was different than usual
but for the most part! he was just a guy hanging out :)
so. yeah. in conclusion usually he wasnt angry and mostly had his bouts of anger at his lowest moments, but they were still there and they still mattered <3 and in the end they were all that mattered i guess (<- said while screaming and crying)
i hope that at least kind of answered your question lol, also i would strongly recommend reading jason in barr's tec run (detective comics #568-582) bc its just so fun fhdfkjahdfa hes just a kid having a good time (apparently barr has said before that he was just writing dick and putting jasons name on it but shhhh dont take this from me)

Jason Todd Reading List
There's probably a million of these, but this is the one I use and give out to people when they ask, so i figured I may as well post it! The main problem with reading Jason is that DC had no idea what to do with him and took him in a million directions, and consistency was non-existent, so this is the path for Jason that I think is most true to his original character.
Also, you have to read Jason as Robin before touching his Red Hood appearances. Them's the rules.
AS ROBIN:
Batman 408 - 425 (1987). 408 is his origin story post-crisis and very, very good. He makes Bruce laugh before they even meet, god bless. Everything from then on out is him as Robin.
Detective Comics 568 - 582 (1986 - 1987). More Robin Jason! I do believe you're supposed to go Batman, Detective Comics, Batman, Detective Comics (or at least that's how I read it, you do you).
New Teen Titans (1984) 18 - 31. His interactions with the Teen Titans!
New Teen Titans (1988) 55. More him with the Titans.
Batman the Cult. Mandatory, must read, not optional.
Batman A Death in the Family. Yeah. Yeah, you all know it. Very good dynamic between him and Bruce in these issues, too.
AS RED HOOD:
Batman: Under the Red Hood. The Red Hod story of all time! And with the Robin knowledge acquired before hand you will be hopeless against the emotional turmoil caused. i;m being dramatic, but there is something different about reading this comic before and after reading Robin Jason.
Batman Annual 25. Talia, I am so sorry for what they did to you. Other than that, good comic.
Robin 80th Anniversary Spectacular. He only has one story in here that's like six pages, but it's so good. Him and Bruce.
Cheer (Urban Legends #1 - 6). Few things in here that I disagree with, mostly when in reference to him as Robin, but otherwise a good comic.
Task Force Z. The Jason Todd comic of all time!! Best Red Hood story since Under the Red Hood, I will die on this hill. Rosenberg just Gets him.
Joker The Man Who Stopped Laughing. Also written by Rosenberg. It's a Joker comic, but Jason is trying to kill him and being pathetic about it. As he should always be. Very good lines, very good interactions, still on going.
OTHER:
Wayne Family Adventures. This webtoon is more fanon than canon, so I place it in the elseworld category. But it's fun! So if you want them all to get laong here you go.
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016). I have yet to read this one myself, but I've heard that it's the better of the two titles, so honourary mention for people who want to see Jason with friends.
Red Hood and the Outlaws Webtoon. Same as above!
Titans: Titans Together (2022) #1 - 2. He's so funny here. So silly.
Future State: Dark Detective and Future State: Gotham. He's a cop here (simplified) which is lame but other than that it's a fun read.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? um how even dare you. the level of sheer audacit--losing touch. sigh. it's just so long is this thing. and so sad too. i don't have it in me to put my brain into that level of sadness for so long. also i feel grossly incapable of long form fics, they are just such a marathon. i am a one shot girl through and through. but I do hope i finish it! that's still the goal. 🤞

Now it's time for some norse mythology!
Depicted here is Yggdrasil, the world tree. It connected the different realms of the universe. Near the roots you see Mimer's well (The source of wisdom, guarded by the head of the jotum Mimer) The three norns, who ruled over people's fates, and the dragon Nidhögg that gnaws on Yggdrasil's roots. At the crown of Yggdrasil, we see Thor, Frigg & Odin. (In the actual myths, Odin had two ravens, Hugin & Munin (Mind and memory) who survailed the world for him, but here, I think he'd send out his actual mind and memory, so to speak.
And, to explain the "fought their fates" thing: According to the norse myths, the fate of everything and everyone were predetermined, including most of the gods dying in Ragnarök. However, the gods still made futile attempts to prevent it.

thoughts: i was surprised that i enjoyed APOSAS more than ASOWAR! i feel like the story and the writing came into its own, and therefore i spent far less time comparing this book to others i've read, making it a more enjoyable reading experience overall.
as with book one, the worldbuilding and character writing continued to astound. i really liked the increased depth written into our two main characters, karina and malik. the direction the author went in with malik's character was so intriguing and he felt more multifaceted than he previously did, even if i still don't like him nearly as much as i do karina. it was joyful to see karina's character growth throughout the duology. i wish we had gotten slightly more depth into hanane, but i did enjoy how she was woven into the plot. farid was a very well-written villain despite my burning hatred for him, and his dynamic with hanane and malik was so interesting.
[LIGHT SPOILER] there is a chapter written around a character's suicide ideation that i think was incredibly well written, and i think generally the approach to incorporating anxiety, panic attacks etc. into the narrative has been done with a lot of care. i thought the chapter was a standout moment of writing.
i would love to see more of what roseanne a. brown writes! this was a solid duology and it's rare to find a series where there isn't a drop in quality as the books continue, never mind one where they actually improve.

I'd like to start this review by saying this: i am not a knuckle cracker. but if i was, i would be cracking them before i begin my review.
lets get into it starting with the pros of this book before i rip into it with the cons.
for the most part i actually thoroughly enjoyed this book, there were several moments that made me giddy having been able to see it through Edward's perspective, such as being able to get brief glances into other peoples heads and know what they were thinking in that moment, because.. that's literally his power. it brought forth several short almost witty moments- some of them i believe to be unintentional, such as a descriptor for jasper in a moment to be 'and jasper was... suffering.'.
while i am aware of Edward and Bella's relationship being not all that healthy, that doesn't prevent me from loving them together. (because to be frank there are far worse pairings out there). For a lack of better words and words that make me cringe just at the thought of typing, once again, the movies really fail to show how much rizz Edward has. like he was seducing me to be honest, and i'm not even remotely attracted to men.
other than those pros that will conclude the positive section of this review, as i've listed in other book reviews for the series a lot of the same positives apply to this one. that being said, i don't wish to retype all of that once again.
lets move on to the negatives this book had for me.
firstly, Edward is extremely broody. to an eye rolling extent. while yes, i have been aware of that from reading the entire original series, and having watched the movies hundreds of times.. it still doesn't make it any less irritating when he's constantly saying things like 'Bella deserves someone better than me' 'Bella shouldn't be with someone who's killed people (COUGH, rapists).. etc.
secondly, from roughly page 568 until the final page, 658, i hated almost everything i was reading.
the entire scene where they're trying to get Bella out of danger is truly a frustrating read. Edward is a moron who refuses to listen to Alice who's trying to diffuse both him and the situation at hand, which in turn worries Bella further.. Emmet is unsure of what to do as he's sat in the backseat with a now even more stressed Bella.. Edward being no help at all like i said previously as he refuses to pull over so Alice can tell him what they should do for way longer than what should've been touched on within that chapter.
furthermore the car chase scene was torturous to read. why is it that with only a single apart am i being told that the car is driving at 150 m/ph? twice? why is it that you continue to tell me the car is going '160' '170' '180.'... that detail is entirely unnecessary when all that truly needed to be said was something like 'the car was continuing to increase in speed rapidly'.
my next massive complaint has to do with Carlisle and licence losing medical malpractice on his part. now, i love Carlisle. it's not so much about HIM, but mores about stephanie's idiocy regarding topics that she clearly did NOT research before including them in her novel. (something which is not new for her and her writing at all).
the complaints are as follows:
1. the 'she's lost some blood' comment. no shit. both you and Edward are actively kneeling in the pool of her blood which she's actively laying in. she's lost more than 'some blood'.
2. WHYYYY are you doing sutures outside of a hospital?? and how?? and where the fuck do you have to supplies- let alone sterile supplies to do so?? i understand that Carlisle is a doctor but that's not just something you have just chilling in your back pocket or in your car. so once again.. WHAT?
3. WHY do you have morphine on your person to treat Bella with.. morphine is an opioid, and there are legal restrictions that come with that.. as far as i'm aware you would not just have morphine on you, let alone a high enough dosage to treat Bella who has; 4 broken ribs, a broken leg, 2 open wounds on her head (which directly goes back to #2 of my complaints), and a body almost coated in bruising from head to toe. there is NO way.
4. Taping Bella's ribs. first of all, this is no longer a practice that is used as it makes it hard to take deep breaths, which bella was doing, because on top of everything she was also actively turning into a vampire.
5. i understand that they 'couldn't go to the hospital' because of the vampire turning on their hands, but they should've. if they truly had to keep Bella human, Edward should've sucked the venom out on the way to the hospital. in my opinion though, Bella should've just turned then and there. it would've saved everyone a world of trouble as well as once again, saving them the trip to the hospital entirely.
that's all for my medical malpractice complaints, now onto some more general complaints, i'll try to keep this short.
1. how did nobody in the small town of Forks notice the ballet studio having been lit on fire and burned to the ground? it's a small town, people are nosy, people would notice and come to see what's going on.
2. Bella was only kept in the hospital for 9 days despite her condition.
3. no obvious timeskip in the writing to show that Bella had recovered enough to be walking around and able to go to her school dance.
4. a lacklustre, disappointing ending. the final sentence literally being; 'as the night finally overcame the end of the day, i leaned forward again and kissed the warm skin of her throat.
with all that being said, up until the climax i did enjoy reading the book. it's not the best in the series at all, but at least it's not new moon.
