It's home cinema manufacturing time! 🏴‍☠️ Gonna put my pirate show on my shelf! (I'm doing an Arts and Crafts Project and I'm making it everyone's problem.)
After seeing how much they cost, I abandoned the idea of getting a Blu-ray writer for now. For the time being, good old DVDs is what it's going to be! My TV is old and not very big, so DVD resolution is gonna be fine.
It's been ages since I last burned a DVD. For the full experience, I'm gonna create nice menus and pretty sleeves for the boxes. Graphic design is my passion! Um.
Well. First needed to find a program to do stuff with. I'm a Linux guy, so I'm using Devede. (Which is free, btw. In case someone else wants to do a low cost spot of putting pirate show on the shelf.)
DVDs fit a maximum of 120 minutes of video. So, four episodes, I thought. But after a quick attempt, the program refused to do more than three (maybe because of the menu also taking up space, and four episodes cutting pretty close to the 120 min mark?). Anyway, three episodes per disc it is. It's a pretty nice runtime for watching the entire disc, IMO. An hour and a half, and then you can return to reality to realise you should probably eat something, or go to bed because it's midnight.
OFMD with its current two seasons has a total of eighteen episodes, which is divisible by three. You get the following setup:
Disc 1: Pilot, A Damned Man, The Gentleman Pirate - That's pretty good, Stede's introduction to piracy all on one disc!
Disc 2: Discomfort in a Married State, The Best Revenge is Dressing Well, The Art of Fuckery - All bangers. Great to watch together, our boys meet and shenanigans happen!
Disc 3: This is Happening, We Gull Way Back, Act of Grace - Many romantic moments, lots of great scenes, shit hits the fan at the end there. Alright!
Disc 4: Wherever you go, there you are, Impossible Birds, Red Flags - ... Pain and angst! What have I done!?! The disc of horrors. Gotta make sure to have tissues at hand when I watch this. But hey, it also has messy bun Ed! Small mercies.
Disc 5: The Innkeeper, Fun and Games, The Curse of the Seafaring Life. - Another disc with all winners. I love all these episodes so much! (You can watch this disc to recover from the trauma of the previous one!) But seriously, this one slaps.
Disc 6: Calypso's Birthday, Man on Fire, Mermen - Great combination again. Season finale! Love and excitement!
... Honestly, except for the psychological damage of putting all the most painful episodes together, this is coming out pretty cool. Says a lot about how good the show is. I actually really love all the episodes (yes even the painful angsty episodes of massive depression). Thinking about this little project really reminded me how much I love this entire show.
So, we got a tracklist, now menus, then we can burn this stuff!
I did the menu backgrounds in GIMP. Realised I have a big folder full of screenshots I took myself, screenshots someone else took and posted on Tumblr, official promo pics for the show, and I have no idea anymore where most of them are from, because I named the files according to what's on them. Which is useful for when you want to find pics (Need a picture of cursed suit Stede? I have files named that, easy peasy!), but not so great if you wanted to give credit to whoever took a given pic you used. (It's probably @sherlockig or @ofmd-ann or @blakbonnet. Please feel credited, your beautiful screens and gifs brighten my day, and some of them are now probably part of my DVD menus. Shrunk down and cropped, but, yeah.)
I originally wanted to structure my menus as having the title of an episode, then some pics from it, then the next episode, then pics from that, and so forth, but I couldn't convince the program to give me the necessary padding between the menu items, so I ended up just putting the episode images below the menu. Still like it.
Anyway, DVD menus can also play sound! Behold a crappy video of my beautiful creation (provided entirely for sound):
It plays Gnossienne N°5!
More crappy pics of my other disc menus:

Gonna make them some nice sleeves next. Some day. Gotta make sure they all work properly first. So. I'll be on my sofa, watching my DVDs. With menus! (Edit: here are!)

So I've been unhappy about the lack of physical media these days (and, unrelated to Good Omens, mightily pissed off at streaming services), which made me decide if I want to have my favourite shows on my shelf, I will do it myself if I have to. And since Amazon still doesn't look like it plans to sell me a nice DVD or Bluray set for season two, I went and did it my bloody self. I own a DVD writer and a printer and nobody can stop me.
Had lots of fun playing around designing sleeves, labels and on-screen menus. Behold my beautiful creations!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used some of the very cool official posters for the covers. I loved the one that became my front cover; there's so much to see on it. (Also has this super handy scroll bit at the bottom where one only had to remove some Amazon logos to have space for labeling!)
Splurged on a couple of sheets of glossy photo paper to print the sleeves on. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference good paper makes for printout quality. The photos don't do them justice. The black is really black, the colours have great depth. I sat here giggling gleefully when these came out of the printer.
Tumblr media
Here's the spines, sitting next to my season one Bluray (which I was happy to buy, hey Amazon please sell me stuff, you love selling things, I will buy things if you sell me things!) and my other self-made fave-show-on-shelf-putting-project.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I do something, I do it properly. Disc labels with pictures on them!
Designing them was a blast; printing them was a fucking nightmare. I had a few pages of premade disc labels (sticker paper with perforated circles of the right sizes, so no cutting, yay). Already printing the sleeves took a good amount of test prints and template tweaking; I don't know why printing exactly to scale is still so difficult in 2024. I think Crowley was involved in designing printers. The things are definitely haunted. Printing a rectangle to scale? Difficult, but okay. Printing two circles to scale, in the exact correct position? Oh god I cursed so much. But look at them, aren't they beautiful? Definitely worth all the sweat and tears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Menu screens! (Had a video of the first disc menu, mostly to show that it plays the Good Omens theme, but Tumblr hated it. Please imagine that all discs have this menu and that you can hear the theme playing while on the menu, thanks.)
DVDs fit 120 minutes of video, and I was super chuffed that I could get two episodes squeezed on one disc. So I have three discs with episodes, and an additional one with bonus stuff. Deleted scenes and VFX breakdowns with Muriel and Making Ofs. You know, the kind of things that are fun and cool about a box set for a show you like. Which I now have on my shelf. You gotta do everything yourself these days.

hey guys, maybe before you pirate LEARN SOME ETIQUETTE
why are these important? well, if you openly share the sites, they wil get shut down. corporations are willing to copyright strike anything. you are only going to make accessing these resources harder.
remember: LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS
if you want to share resources, don't post them on public forums like tumblr, twitter, instagram or any popular site. remember how zlibrary shut down? yall want that to happen to more sites? do you?
also like if they get shut down, people who can't access these otherwise because they don't have the means for it or its banned in their country are losing access.
Don't post links online. Only share in private conversations.
try and avoid linking the sites directly. a workaround is sharing the downloaded files via other file hosting sites similar to google drive and drop box
DON'T SHARE ON PUBLIC FORUMS. EVER. PLEASE
Use a VPN. i personally like proton vpn, it is a freemium model but the free version works fine.
These are just the basics, there are others but please keep these in mind.

quick message to any clikkies who dont have ad-free music or who just want RAB
search your media of choice into Internet Archive and the full album should pop up! if you scroll down a bit you can download mp3 files, then transfer them into your notes app :)) (i recommend doing this on a laptop/pc, then just share the note to your phone)
this works for literally everything the site has too, not just albums! happy pirating <3 #thecliqueisgoingtojailparty

Dear Friends,
Pirate media.
I have a friend in the animation industry who was just laid off, along with several other animators in the company. (The industry is in a bad slump, he tells me.) We met because I am an avid fan of a show he worked on, and because of this, he knew he could come to me now. He needed high res footage of an episode he worked on so he could include it on his demo reel.
That's right. Animators don't automatically get access to high res animation that they made.
But because I have a pirated high res copy of every episode of the series in question, I was able to not only provide him with the episode he needed, I was able to offer my services, through him, to anyone of his former coworkers who need to get their hands on high res footage of the show.
Pirate media. You never know when you will literally be able to help someone by doing it.

thank you for your service of warning tumblr users what websites NOT to visit
np! if anyone wants a (mostly) safe piracy site to use, check 1337x dot to great site, mostly safe, though as always run anything you download through an antivirus (if you're on windows, windows antivirus is usually more than enough; if you're on mac, try malwarebytes' free trial)

Really happy with my DVDs. The video quality is actually much better than I expected. Sure, I went for 720p which is highest a DVD can do and let the encoding do a second pass, which took literally hours, but I still thought it wouldn't be this great? But it's really good. I love watching my show this way so much. 😊
Am also working on sleeves and they are looking amazing already, so much fun. Gonna share those when they're done. 🏴‍☠️

Native macOS Version
Pros:
Machine runs silently and with very little heat
Also consumes much less electricity (Like 40-60W)
No graphical glitches or weird stutters
Slightly shorter loading screens
Cons:
I have to redownload the Origin Patcher from Anadius every time Origin Updates
I also have to redownload the Patcher every time a new pack drops
I have to deal with Origin (and eventually the EA app when it releases)
For some reason, on the Mac version only, CAS dragging and rotating results in the cursor drifting to the right, making it difficult to make small changes.
Cracked Windows Version
Pros:
I don’t have to deal with Origin (or the EA app)
Using @anadius2’s Updater, I can get new DLCs and Updates with the click of a button
CAS cursor and rotation does what I want it to.
It’s MUCH easier to toggle DLC’s with Anadius’s DLC Toggler
Cons:
Computer Runs Louder and Hotter (The M1 iMac has two laptop blowers, so don’t think it’s like desktop tower levels of sound. Just a slightly irritating “sshhhhhhh.”)
Also draws more electricity (Like 80W)
Mirrors and Reflections are extremely broken. I either have to turn them off or deal with weird spasming shapes every time I see one.
Potential for weird and unexplained glitches and crashes.
Slightly longer loading screens

I completed Pillars of Eternity 2
5:30 am thoughts
Hollowborn 2 Electric Boogaloo
Telling myself the revamped dawnstars are the beginning of The Followers of The Apocalypse
I mean technically they are
I want to know which fucker at Obsidian is obsessed with couriers delivering packages of death they know nothing about.
Im so tired but I did it
I think some of my actions might have broken the consequences that were suppose to happen.
Pallagina you need therapy
I'm thrilled to learn of all the Tumblrina eqes god fuckers of Eora dreaming of tapping the problematic adra ass.
Anyway my only regret is trying to keep Pallagina in the party. Like damn woman, the Republics don't love you and the system does not love the people.
At least all my animal friends are safe.
Next time I'm killing Atsua and Castol.
I wish Eothas had severed all of my chimes and not just the Berath one.
I don't know why Berath had me collecting souls. Like I think I got four? Not counting Waidwen cause he wasn't suppose to be there I think. Idk.
I never finished the game the first time I played because I couldn't beat the gaurdian of ukizo. I thought the sea dragon was suppose to talk with them but he never showed up. The guardian wasn't even a challenge this time. Broke my heart to see them suffer.
Hope Vera had fun :P
Can't wait to see what Tayn learns from Wael's seed.
