“I thought you liked extreme stunts!” Neva protested, hands on her hips.
“I do, but they usually come with safety equipment,” Poe stated, “Not when it’s just a piece of plastic between me and the ground.”
Neva shrugged, “Fine, guess I’ll just go by myself.”
Poe looked between the steep mountain slope in front of them, to Neva, and then back to the slope. It was lined with coniferous trees, and the sun glinted off the snow in a nearly sinister fashion. One wrong move and they would be going too fast to stop from slamming into the thick trunks.
“There’s no way I’m letting you go alone. You knew that when you dragged me up here, didn’t you?” Poe’s jaw tightened, then relaxed at the sight of her smile.
“Maybe,” she teased. “Are you getting on or not?”
Poe sighed. “Scoot,” he said, gesturing for her to move forward. She did, and Poe sat behind her. A moment later, she pulled his arms around her middle and leaned back into his chest. His heart skipped a beat, but he wrapped his legs around hers anyway. This was the physically closest they’d ever been, and Poe couldn’t say he minded one bit.
The fact that they were about to plummet down a steep-ass mountain on a chunk of brittle plastic only dampened the effect of her presence a little.
“Ready?” she asked.
“As I’ll ever be, Nev.” He said, lips brushing against the shell of her ear.
She squeezed his wrist in her gloved hand, “Just hold onto me if you get scared, Big Bad Pilot Man.”
“Okay.”
With a shove, she tucked her feet into the front of the sled and they began to slide forward. The sled tilted forward and Poe tightened his hold on her as they picked up speed down the mountain. He ignored the chuckle he heard from her.
They kept picking up speed, faster and faster and Poe felt the same as he had when his mother had let him pilot her A-Wing for the first time. Adrenaline pumped through his veins, cold wind brushed his curls back from his forehead. He was unsure, but knew that Neva had control of the sled with the twine she held in her gloved hands. Not being the one piloting was an adjustment, but he was more than willing to give her the reins.
They reached their top speed, Neva’s cheers echoing off the snow around them as the bottom of the mountain got closer and closer. He was so close he could smell the soap on her skin, the warmth of it raising the sweet citrus scent and making his thoughts harder to grasp fully.
The sled lost velocity as the ground beneath them evened out, and they slowed to a stop. Neva jumped up and reached down for Poe, her eyes alight with excitement and cheeks ruddy from the cold wind. In that moment he knew he would follow her to the ends of the galaxy if only she asked.
The thought was confirmed when she jumped into his arms, planting kisses all over his face. “That was amazing!”
“You’re amazing, Neva,” he said, his hands resting on her hips over her coat. “Can I kiss you now?”
“Of course.”
He brought his gloved hands up to shield both sides of her face from the cold before bringing his lips to hers. The adrenaline from the sledding still simmered under his skin and ignited him from within, so when her hand wrapped around his neck and pulled him closer he couldn’t help the low moan that escaped his throat.
“I love you, Poe,” she said when they separated for air.
He kissed her again, “I love you too, Neva.”

Close to Me ~ Chpt 25
Catch Up      Masterlist      AO3
AN: Why yes I am getting back into starting to post things over here again. I’m hoping to get things all posted so I can start posting some of my other WIPs too. We are getting close to where I last updated this story. We’ve got about 10 more chapters to go but that doesn’t mean that it’s over. Oh no, far from it. I hope you enjoy and happy reading!
Celebration could be heard all around the Resistance base while people were also mourning those who they had lost in the battle. Kat had only got her boots on the ground when Kare appeared in front of her. “I’m going to go find Poe and tell him the same thing but thank you for all you’ve done. Thank you for believing in us and allowing us to lead. I will help in any way that I am needed in the future.”
Kat just pulled the other woman in for a hug. “They are all looking down and celebrating with us.”
Kare made a sound that was a mix between a sob and laughter as she nodded against Kat’s shoulder. “I’m going to miss him.”
“I know,” Kat said, pulling back. “He was a great pilot and even better man and husband. We’re here if you need anything.”
The other woman hugged Kat once more, squeezing her tight to express her thanks. “Thank you, Kat, for everything.”
Kat smiled softly. “You’re welcome. Now go find Jess. I’m sure she’s looking for you.”
Once Kare ran off, Kat started making her way around base, looking for her friends while celebrating with those who stopped her. She saw Chewie first but then there was Rose so she hurried over to where the Millenium Falcon had landed. Lando snagged her before she got to the others, pulling her into a hug. “That was some great flying out there. Knew you could do it.”
“You took your time though, didn’t you?”
He laughed. “You saw all those people, right? It took a little longer to get them all there.”
Kat smiled up at him. “I’m just glad you showed.”
“I’ll never leave you stranded.” He leaned in closer, arching his eyebrow. “Now about this brother of yours?”
She rolled her eyes. “Can we talk about it later?” They may have finally won the war but there was still one raging inside of her.
He patted her shoulder, giving her a knowing look as he moved on.
Kat let out a sigh and turned to look for the others that were on the Falcon. She saw Rose and Finn embracing but soon the mechanic was pulling back to scold him. Rose poked at his chest before pulling him in for another hug, relief radiating off of the couple.
Jannah pulled her attention away from the couple and they shared a brief moment, Kat thanking her for her help before brown fur engulfed Kat’s vision.
Chewbacca growled and Kat laughed as she was picked up. “It’s good to see you too.”
He soon sat her down and introduced her to Wedge, who promised that they would talk later. He understood she was quite the important woman and she wouldn’t want to speak to an old man when there were friends around to speak to. The infamous pilot pointed to where Finn and Rose were waiting to speak with her to prove his point. Kat turned and smiled before running over to hug Rose, sidelining Finn all together.
“Alright, I see how it is.” He teased her.
“Oh, shut up and get over here.” Kat laughed, holding out her arm so they could have a group hug. “I’m so glad you two are safe.”
“Yeah, I don’t know how you handled Poe improvising all these years.” Rose joked, giving a pointed look towards Finn.
Kat laughed, shaking her head. “He’s here. That’s all that matters.”
Finn grinned and was about to say something when Kat fixed him with a pointed look. “Why don’t you go ask Poe how well gloating about that works out for ya?”
That quieted him but caused Rose to laugh. “Guess I should go find him then, huh?”
“Tell him I’ll see him soon?” Kat asked.
“You got it,” Finn promised before leaning down to kiss Rose.
“It’s gonna take more than that!” Rose called out as Finn started to leave but he turned around and smirked at her. “I’m betting on it.”
A blush colored Rose’s cheeks causing Kat to laugh. “Remind me to stay away from your room tonight.”
Rose bumped her shoulder against Kat’s arm, glaring up at her friend. “So who’s this person that called you love out there?”
Kat then groaned, rolling her eyes. “That’s Wes. My contact from Naboo. He is mostly a pain in my side.”
“Like Poe was?” Rose teased.
“Who’s this Poe I keep hearing about?” Wes said as he approached the two women.
Kat turned to look at him, rolling her eyes. “He is my boyfriend so I’m gonna need you to cool it.”
“Oh, so you mean I can’t say that I still prefer you blonde?” He smirked as he pulled her in for a hug.
“That’s exactly what that means,” Kat said as she returned the hug. “Thank you for coming. I could actually probably use your help with rebuilding efforts.”
“Anything you need. I’m hoping I can get Naboo back to some peace but I mean you saw the riots.”
“So that’s who this is!” Rose exclaimed, finally putting a name to a face.
Kat laughed, moving to the side. “Wes, this is Rose. She’s been better about watching my six than you ever were.” She slightly teased.
Wes laughed and shook Rose’s hand. “So you’re the poor soul who took my place then. Thanks for looking out for this one. I know how much of a handful she is.”
“She definitely didn’t make it easy.” Rose teased.
“I don’t think I like this.” Kat shook her head. “I’m gonna go find Poe though so don’t share anything too embarrassing, please?” She requested as she slowly backed away.
“Not making any promises!” Wes called after her, laughing as she flipped him off. He then turned to Rose. “Kat and Poe, I need to know all the details.”
Rose laughed. “I might like you after all.”
Poe walked around, looking for his friends after he stopped by one of the medics. The bacta treatment he had for the laser blast wound had worked fine but with all the flying it had been used far more than was recommended after the treatment. So they gave him a makeshift sling and he knew immediately Kat was going to freak.
He looked into one of the clearings and noticed Zorii. The two shared a head nod and continued their separate ways. He was glad that she had somehow survived the attack on Kijimi. He’d have to ask how later but for now, there were far more important things to worry about.
Turning back to continue on his way he noticed Finn. They grinned, pointing at each other before they hugged.
“What happened? You okay?” Finn asked when they pulled back.
“Yeah. Just a little sore and needing to rest it some since I just put a lot of strain on it.”
“Kat is not going to be happy.” He chuckled.
Poe laughed along. “No, she is not. Have you seen her?”
“I left her with Rose so it might be a bit.”
“Maybe I should go find her then.” He joked. “Where were they?”
Finn pointed back in the direction he came. “Over by the Falcon. She did say she’d see you soon though.”
“Yeah, I think I better go find her.” Poe chuckled patting Finn on the shoulder. “Great work today, General.”
“You too, General. I actually have an idea…”
“Celebrate now, ideas later,” Poe said, interrupting his friend with a smile.
“What happened to your arm?” Kat exclaimed as she approached the two men.
“And that’s my cue to leave.” Finn laughed and left the couple to reunite.
“Is this the same arm you got shot?” She asked, touching the spot gingerly.
“It’s just sore. Strained it a little too much. I’m fine.” He kissed her temple as he wrapped his free arm around her waist. He knew that she survived their final battle but to have her in his arms, it was far better than just that simple knowledge.
She sighed and went into his embrace, being cautious of his arm as she hugged him. There really was no better feeling than being in his arms. It was like coming home after a long day and she really couldn’t wait to continue going through life with him by her side. “We did it, Poe. We actually stopped them.”
He pulled her closer, giving her waist a squeeze. “We did. You kicked ass out there. You’ve been holding out on me.”
Kat laughed as she pulled away. “I’ve not been in anything like that since Naboo really and I’m hoping we never have to again.”
“The most action we might see is on the senate floor and I might just be okay with that.”
Kat groaned, resting her head on his good shoulder. “I don’t even want to think about that right now.”
Poe chuckled. “That’s all I’m going to say.” He then began to kiss anywhere he could reach, tugging her a little closer. “Can I steal you away now?”
Before she could even answer, the base roared into a commotion as Rey and Ben landed. Kat gave him a quick kiss. “Soon.” She promised before taking off running towards the landing space everyone else seemed to be headed too.
Sighing, he took off after her. They both pushed their way through the crowd, most had their blasters raised even if Rey stood in front of Ben. Seeing that Kat and Poe were making their way through, members of the Resistance moved aside, creating space for them to walk.
Kat came to a halt once she was more in the opening away from the crowd. Ben was really standing there across from her and he looked worse for wear. He kept his expression unreadable, much like she had seen it throughout his time with the First Order. She should let them tie him up and put him away for all that he had done. She shouldn’t be worried about his well being, shouldn’t be worried about him toppling over at any minute.
All she wanted to do right now, though, was hug her brother and welcome him back home. She had been dealing with whispers and rumors ever since Naboo. She never let it deter her from what she wanted before. They just fueled her will to fight and to show those who were whispering not to underestimate her. Was it the best philosophy, especially when she had a whole galaxy to convince she could rebuild the Republic and bring about peace? Probably not, but it was what she knew.
“Lower your weapons.” She ordered. “He clearly doesn’t have any strength to do any damage.”
When her command was listened to, she walked to his side and brought an arm around her shoulders. “Rey, will you help me get him to the med bay?”
The young Jedi nodded and went to his other side and soon both women were helping him limp to where Dr. Kalonia had set up. Murmurs spread throughout the crowd, especially as Ben’s head dropped closer to Kat’s and they saw how her hand supporting his back was moving back and forth like she was comforting him.
“Poe, what is this?” She heard someone ask.
He shook his head. He was not about to have people come after Kat through him. “Don’t lose your trust or your faith in Kat because she is being a person, a sister, before a General. She knows what she’s doing and I’m sure she’ll answer everything soon.”
“Rey, are you needing to be checked out too?” Kat asked once they got Ben situated on the exam table.
“No.” She answered.
“Yes,” Ben said at the same time.
Rey gave him a pointed look and Kat looked between the pair, looking for someone to give her an answer.
“She died after she killed the Emperor. I brought her back.” Ben explained.
Kat turned to the other woman, a serious expression written all over her face. “That’s it. You’re also getting checked out. General’s orders.” She pointed out towards another exam room.
The two women had a staring contest, a battle of wills more like, until Rey finally gave in as Dr. Kalonia stepped in. “Rey came back from the dead so I think she’s the more dire patient,” Kat said, hoping she could get a few moments alone with her brother.
Kalonia nodded and followed Rey out of the room, starting to ask her questions. Once the siblings were alone, Kat turned to face Ben. She was about to unleash her holy hell onto him but then she saw the sadness, the guilt, the fear, and relief written on his face. Her lip trembled and she surged forward wrapping her arms around him. “You’re home.” She cried into his neck.
Ben melted into his sister’s embrace. He never thought he would be able to do this again. He brought his arms up to wrap around her middle and held her close. Tears spilled onto his cheeks as the realization hit that Kat was truly all he had left from his old life before he had followed Snoke. He had broken practically every promise he ever made her and yet here she was still looking out for him as she always did. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry, Kat, for everything.” He sobbed quietly which in turn made Kat cry more.
She held him as tight as she could without hurting him, hiding her face until she got herself together. All couldn’t be forgiven with just one hug. He had done so much damage and they certainly couldn’t go back to how things were between them. When her tears finally slowed she pulled away from him. “One apology is not going to be enough. You have done some absolutely horrendous things that you’re going to have to answer for. I can only do so much on top of working to rebuild what you helped destroy.”
“I’ll do whatever you need me to do.” He said, looking down at his lap. He wasn’t quite ready to face the anger he knew she held towards him. He let out a sigh, wanting to tell her so many things but not knowing where to begin. He knew now that he had been lied to, manipulated into joining the First Order. “I should have never doubted you. I should have listened to you when I first tried to get you to come with me.”
“Damn right you should have.” She shoved at his shoulder. A smirk played at her lips as she remembered something Leia had told her before she died. “Until you earn people’s trust back you’ve got to listen to everything I tell you. Mom’s orders.”
He groaned, acting very much like the younger brother finding out that his older sibling was in charge. “She did not say that.”
Kat grinned. “Oh, but she did. Her exact words were “he has to listen to his big sister.” So you have to listen to everything I tell you or you might be getting a visit from her force ghost.”
Ben just rolled his eyes. “Just don’t make me do your chores.”
She laughed at the memory of one of the other times she had been put in charge. Leia and Han had some dinner to go to and Kat had been charged with babysitting. They had come home to Ben doing the dishes while Kat sat nearby instructing him on what to do. “Don’t worry, power doesn’t go to my head anymore.”
He gave her a questioning look, wondering if that was a jab at him or not. The cheeky grin she had on her face, however, told him all that he needed to know. Dr. Kalonia appeared then and Kat sat quietly in the corner as Ben was checked out. Ultimately the doctor decided to keep him for a few days so she could monitor his broken bones and give him fluids.
To give him some privacy to get ready for his treatments, Kalonia brought Kat out into the hallway. “I’m keeping Rey under observation tonight, maybe even give her some fluids as well, especially based on what she told me had happened to them on the ground. My order for you is to go rest. Celebrate, sure, you deserve to but how prepared are you for questions?”
Kat looked towards the room they had just come out of and sighed. “I’m sure you have a few of your own.”
Kalonia just smiled. “Actually I don’t have any at all.”
The general was taken aback momentarily but soon a grateful smile spread across her features. “Thank you, doctor.” She squeezed Kalonia’s arm as she passed by. With things settled for now, maybe she could truly enjoy their victory.

À Terre II | Poe Dameron x OC/Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Reader is a Resistance pilot that was captured during a solo reconnaissance mission. They escape by hijacking a ship. Gravely injured and hanging by a thread, they rejoin the Resistance by crash landing just outside of the base on D'Qar. A certain distraught squadron leader runs out to help.
Hurt/Comfort. Gratuitous, self-serving one shot TWO PART story. I have rewritten the first chapter in addition to adding on a second installment. This time it's in Poe's POV. I don’t like using “y/n” so I give the reader a generic, 1 syllable Star Wars name in the middle of this bad boy.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve been daydreaming about this for months years, so I finally decided to write it all out.  There’s a little bit of a long set up, but I’m not sorry about it.
Rating: T
Warnings: Mentions blood and torture. Shellshock/PTSD vibes. Cursing. Tons of graphic medical stuff. Injections (so needles).
Word count: 5,439

Blood was everywhere when he finally made it inside the cockpit...
Even after he got her free from the safety harness, when all he could do was keep her calm and alert until the med techs arrived, he noticed the way she looked at him, the way she pulled it together to focus every time she nearly fell asleep. Hol hadn’t been able to properly talk, but with every command he gave her, she nodded and tried her best to comply.
The metallic iron smell of it nearly knocked him back when he opened the canopy. It covered everything. Her shaking hands, her hair, her flight suit, he even found it coating the inside of her mouth after he coaxed her to let him take away the life support mask.
He desperately wanted to give her water to see if she could drink, but there wasn’t any to be found in the cockpit. He wanted to put her in one of his jackets to help stop her from shaking, but the patch of trees she crashed landed into was too far from his quarters on base. He wanted to scream at her for being so goddamn stubborn, but he couldn’t shake the way she desperately clutched onto his hand.
They hadn't been careful enough when extracting her. There wasn't enough time to wait for proper immobilization equipment to be brought out to the crash site. Between Hol's blood loss and the ship leaking dangerous fluids into the forest, they made the difficult call to just move.
Seeing that utmost trust in her eyes, alongside the fear and the pain, was what really scared him the most. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he let her die there, not after she clawed her way back to them.
He had no way of knowing at that moment, but the jostling when they lifted her out caused a broken rib to puncture one of her lungs. Poe couldn’t keep from blaming himself for his own role in that.
The second they placed her onto the hover gurney, her condition began to rapidly deteriorate. One of the med techs caught sight of her blue fingertips and immediately diagnosed a collapsed lung. Poe only just managed to clamber out of the cockpit to see it all. He stood frozen on the wing of the ship while he watched them cut open her flight suit to reveal her bloated chest. The bright glow of a laser scalpel quickly appeared and they made an emergency incision between her ribs to let the trapped air escape.
Once they got her breathing again, she was loaded onto the back of the waiting med truck and they took off. Poe was left to follow behind on the back of a ship technician's speeder bike.
--------------------------------------
He sprinted into the medbay only a few moments after Hol was rushed in on the hover gurney. Bypassing the waiting area and going directly through the sliding double doors was unusually easy. In hindsight it should have struck him as odd that no one stopped him, but the overstretched med staff meant that no one paid him any mind when he planted himself against the back wall in triage.
As promised, Kalonia’s team was already primed and waiting to receive her. Poe had to crane his neck to be able to see, but he counted at least seven different med techs helping transfer her over to the exam bed.
They began working like a well calibrated machine, her dirty flight suit was sliced open and quickly stripped away. As soon as they were connected, the more sophisticated diagnostic scanners lit up and began  displaying the worst of her injuries. Images of her chest cavity were produced on a monitor near the end of the exam bed, along with her vitals.
From where he stood, Poe was able to catch Hol’s foot beginning to subtly twitch. He wondered initially if he had just imagined the movement, but the surrounding med staff began to take notice as well.
“Eyes are beginning to flutter, she might be starting to come around.”
Dr. Kalonia took a step back as her staff continued their work. She pulled aside the young medic who had been down in the cockpit with Poe. He began rattling off the details of Hol’s condition when found and how exactly she was transported. After a couple of minutes he began gesturing over his shoulder in Poe’s direction, causing Kalonia to promptly look up. Her eyes narrowed when she caught sight of him standing back by the door.
Shit…
His back stiffened in preparation for an argument that never came.
“Dameron, get over here!”
She issued the instruction like an admiral as she pointed him over to the top of the exam bed.
He didn't think, he just immediately crossed over. The moment he was within reach, she grabbed hold of his arm and brought him to stand where she was.
“Do exactly what you did down at the crash site, alright? Talk to your pilot. Keep her calm.”
Hol’s head gently lolled to the side on the padded exam table, her face slack and eyes half-lidded. She went still once more just as he took his place. He cupped her face in his hands, noting how cool and clammy her skin felt against his palms.
Kalonia stood to his right, a penlight ready in her hand to test the reaction of her patient’s pupils.
“C’mon, Tarmin…” She called while carefully tugging open Hol’s eyelid.
Immediately, there was a weak moan, greatly muffled by the respirator mask. Hol tried to roll away from the touch, but Poe’s hands braced either side of her head.
“Hey, hey- it's okay. Easy, kid, easy.” He whispered, holding her in place just long enough for Kalonia to work.
“Settle down, Lieutenant.” The doctor spoke as she pulled away. “You crash landed on D’Qar. You’re in medical.”
Poe didn't let go once she finished. He continued cradling Hol's head, his short nails scratching at her scalp in some attempt at providing comfort.
Her body was fully exposed under the surgical lights, revealing the extent of the damage that he wasn't able to see back in the cockpit. The bruising along her abdomen and rib cage was mostly black, as if there were large ink blots staining her skin. There were blaster grazes on her right side, localized swelling where her right forearm was clearly fractured, wounds in her lower abdomen...
So much of it jumped out at once, he found it hard to focus on any one injury long enough. He began to wonder just what sort of state she was in before the crash.
Hol emitted another faint groan, one where he could distinctly hear a wheezing sound that came from deep in her chest. Her body jerked from the force of a cough. Red flecks of blood appeared inside the clear respirator mask.
Slowly, she began to blink against the lights. A worry line formed in the center of her forehead.
"No...n-no… "
It was hoarse and strained, but everyone standing around caught the audible plea. Hol's good hand suddenly lifted in an attempt to bat away those touching her.
Dr. Kalonia cursed.
"Restrain her! I'm trying to insert a chest catheter here!”
Padded white cuffs were produced and promptly attached around each of her limbs, securing her to the exam bed.
"Hol, look at me." Poe commanded. He cupped her jaw as he leaned directly over her, giving her no choice but to comply. He made himself the only thing she had to look at. His shadow worked to shield her eyes from the glaring overhead lights while also blocking her view of the med staff.
Her gaze was glassy and unfocused, but she was thankfully looking at him.
"You've got to relax." He urged, his hand smoothing her tangled hair back off her face as he spoke. "We’re trying to patch you up, alright? Let us help."
She blinked at the sound of his voice, and though the distress on her face didn't fade, she went still on the exam bed. Her eyes remained set in his direction.
"There you go, sunshine..." Poe quietly praised, using once again the affectionate name he knew she absolutely hated. "Keep those eyes on me, don't worry about anything else."
His attention never left her, but he was aware that Kalonia and another med tech were beginning to work at prepping the incision site to insert the chest tube. He wasn't convinced that Hol recognized who he was or even that she was somewhere safe, but he couldn't risk her getting freaked out by the procedure being performed on her chest.
There was still visible fear in her eyes, but she never looked away from him. Her struggling thankfully ceased as she began to lean into one of his palms bracing the side of her face.
"You're safe, you know that?" He found himself reminding her. The pads of his thumbs traced over the outer shells of her ears, trying again to ease the visible discomfort he saw etched in her face. "Promise you, babe. You're good, we've got you."
Hol winced before swallowing. His brow furrowed as he watched her lips suddenly part.
“Poe…"
Her voice was painfully raw, and normally the sound of her saying his name would have been reason for relief, but he only worried that she was wasting her energy trying to talk.
“Yeah, hey, Hol.” He greeted in a whisper, dipping just enough to brush his lips to her hairline. "It's me. I'm right here."
He frowned when she tried to say something more, something longer and impossible to parse.
"Shh-hey, no, that's enough. Don't want you to talk anymore." He gently scolded. "We’re going to do like before, okay? You relax while I run my mouth.”
Poe doubted she remembered their conversation down in the cockpit, but she thankfully fell silent. Her eyes remained on him as he kept quietly talking to her, blabbering on about how lucky she was to get out of briefings and inventory duty for the next few weeks, about how she was going to sit back on the medbay's best painkillers and watch the trashiest holovids he could find.
He knew deep down that she probably wasn't following him entirely, but he was trying to reassure himself at this point more than her. He was keenly aware that none of what he was saying was guaranteed, but he had to give himself something to hold on to, because imagining anything else simply was not an option for him.
She had to pull through this.
She had to be fine.
Minutes passed like that, Hol's unfocused gaze trained on Poe's face as he worked at keeping her distracted. Kalonia was able to successfully insert the temporary catheter into Hol's chest, which would assure the function of her uninjured lung until they could patch up the other.
Poe listened closely as a medtech outlined all of the crucial information, providing him with the rough plan of how her treatment would proceed. Once they finished stabilizing her most grave injuries, she would be taken back for surgery. There would be some additional testing after, which would take a couple of hours...
The explanation suddenly stopped short when an alarm began to sound from one of the machines. The level of the urgency in the room immediately started to bubble over.
"Heart rate is increasing!" Someone announced.
Poe visibly paled as he watched Hol's eyes roll backward. His hands still bracing her head, he desperately looked up at the med staff, searching for some kind of instruction.
"Dameron, out!"
Kalonia swooped in and firmly shouldered him out of the way.
Before he could object, a med droid approached and began to usher him towards the door.
"Doc, what's going on?" He demanded, sidestepping the mechanical arms reaching for his shirt. "What's wrong?"
His question went ignored. Hold was entirely obscured from his view. There were too many people now surrounding the exam bed.
"She's seizing! Start anticonvulsants and prepare for a transfusion!"
"Master Dameron, the team needs to prepare the patient for surgery. You must leave."
The med droid's pincers whirred as it closed in on Poe.
"Don't tell me what I have to do!" He snapped, the outline of his jaw more pronounced as he spoke through clenched teeth.
In a moment of sheer stupidity, he pushed back hard against the unforgivingly solid metal chest. He clearly forgot that these droids were built to easily lift the deadweight of critically ill patients of any species.
The mechanical arms tightly wrapped around him, securing his own arms to his sides. They closed, crushing him flush against the droid's metal body. The gesture was completed so quickly that he could feel the air being forced out of his own chest.
Poe feebly kicked, but it was useless. The droid easily hauled him back out through the double doors and towards the waiting area.

The word about who crash-landed into the trees traveled like wildfire across base. All of black squadron, Finn, BB-8, several of the x-wing techs and pilots from various outfits formed a large group just outside of the medbay. Each of them had duties elsewhere that they were purposefully ignoring, choosing out of loyalty to be present while one of their own hung in some grave state between life and death. They were the ones who threw back countless drinks in the mess hall together, who organized a massive fantasy Gravball league that nearly sent the entire Resistance into chaos, and who pooled their commissary credits to throw each other birthday parties.
They were all present to witness the painful moment Poe was forcibly escorted out of the sliding double doors leading to triage.
"Shit!-alright, alright! Let go!" His shouts ricocheted down the hallway as he finally managed to yank himself free. The force of the motion caused him to promptly fall to the floor.
The others watched as he quickly scrambled up from the ground, stumbling and hurrying to kick at the back of the retreating med droid.
He missed, which only served to enrage him further. The doors promptly closed behind the droid and Poe spun around— his mouth set in a tight line while he began to inexplicably search his surroundings. His chest rose and fell for several beats. His face twisted into a sneer before he abruptly lashed out at the nearest object, sending a trashcan flying with his boot. The steel barrel was thankfully empty, but the sharp clang sent a shockwave across the medbay.
The few people waiting in the sitting area immediately stood up to vacate the space.
Finn was the first to take a step forward to intervene, but he was halted by a large hand on his arm. He turned his head to see Snap, skin still humid as if he came straight from the refresher.
"Best to stand back and let it pass." The pilot urged with a sad shake of his head. "His scenes are never pretty."
Finn didn't want to agree, but as he stood and watched the scene unfolding before them he couldn't find any reason to argue. Snap and the others would know better. They did know.
Poe’s hands were pressed to the back of his head, his fingers laced together as he glared at the closed doors. He could have easily pushed his way back through, but he inexplicably remained where he stood. His eyes shot a deadly amount of spite toward whatever was happening on the other side of those doors— information that, for the time being, only he knew.
His arms fell heavily to his sides. Ignoring the uneasy looks following him, he turned and traipsed over to the first row of waiting chairs, silently throwing himself down onto one of the seats. His legs stretched out while he leaned back, his arms folded over his chest.
He continued to stare at the doors, a hard glint in his eyes for the faceless goliath wrecking untold damage on the other side.
The others slowly filtered over to join him in the waiting area. A supportive hand would occasionally grip his shoulder or linger on his knee, but no one said anything. Those unvoiced questions sat heavy above their heads.
BB-8 remained near Poe’s feet, unusually still and silent.
Hours grudgingly crawled by. The light outside faded away and began to just barely creep back over the horizon when someone finally came out to speak to them.
Poe was the only one to be escorted back behind the double doors. Dr. Kalonia stood there waiting for him, still dressed in some of her surgical garb. Thankfully, her mask was off, because her facial expression alone was able to answer his most crucial question.
She was alive.
Kalonia began to turn before she motioned for him to come along.
"Follow me, Dameron..."
________________________
They walked together down the main hallway of the medical wing, back to where Poe knew the overnight patient beds were located. He remained silent as Kalonia gave the run through of everything— what exactly happened when he was forced out of triage and what they were able to correct during surgery. Internal bleeding was what caused Hol to begin seizing. They performed a blood transfusion that stabilized her enough to undergo surgery, but they hadn’t been confident that she would make it through. The surgery itself took hours, but they were successfully able to localize and stop the bleeding in her abdomen and patch up her punctured lung. They installed a more substantial drainage tube in her chest to allow excess air and fluids to escape so her lung could continue to heal.
She would need to be kept asleep so her body could focus on repairing itself, but Kalonia was going to let Poe see her while they performed some additional tests.
They came to a stop just before the smallest room along the hallway. Due to space constraints on base, most of the rooms along this corridor housed multiple beds. This room was only for patients in a bad enough state to justify being kept isolated from others.
Kalonia stood aside to let him enter first.
They had Hol lying half-covered on an exam bed, her chest was mostly obscured by bandages. The first thing he noticed was that she was clean now, so much so that it made his head spin.
It shouldn’t have been such a surprise, because of course they were going to scrub away the blood and grime before putting her on fresh bedding. But still, the contrast from when he found her sitting strapped in that downed ship was startling.
Several machines were attached to her body. She was hooked up to a respirator and receiving fluids intravenously, but Poe also caught sight of the aforementioned drainage tube extending from a patch of bandages in her side. It ran all the way over the edge of the bed into a receptacle on the floor. Her injured arm was wrapped in bacta strips and immobilized with a splint.
He remained a few feet away from her bed, a distance that he decided would be safe, because it felt too dangerous to touch her. His eyes slowly took in every piece of equipment being used to keep her stable, at first he began to count but stopped himself when he reached double digits.
His brow furrowed the moment he noticed the padded white cuffs still attaching Hol's wrists to the bed frame.
"Why is she still strapped down?" He demanded, his voice oddly distorted from hours of not speaking.
"It’s just a precaution for now.” Kalonia began to explain, seeming to choose her words cautiously. “She’s still on anticonvulsants to help reduce the likelihood of further seizures, but even while sedated there are still some tremors. With the location of the drainage tube we can’t risk her moving too violently or ripping it out when she wakes.”
Poe blinked, taking a moment to process the information.
"How long does she have to keep the tube?”
“No more than 2 to 3 days.”
He nodded while he chewed on his lower lip, his eyes still trained on Hol.
“Look, Dameron…”
She interrupted his thoughts in a gentle tone that was meant to be comforting, but it only made the hairs on the back of his neck stand straight. Dr. Kalonia was known for ruthlessly running the medbay like a battleship. They went back far too long, he knew to brace for the worst whenever she started to go soft.
Poe turned to face her, the pit of dread he felt low in his stomach was only growing. He would have given anything in that moment for them to fall into their traditional roles, for him to be the one injured and for her to be yelling at him. - Dammit, Dameron! Either make yourself useful or get the hell out of my medbay!
But she only continued to speak in that horribly gentle tone.
“As Tarmin’s commanding officer, there is something else that you should know.”
She walked him around to the opposite side of the bed, where there was noticeably less tubing.
“During the examination before her surgery, I noticed some smaller injuries that made me order full lab work.”
He watched as she lifted the bit of blanket covering Hol’s legs.
“I found infected injection sites on the insides of her arms and thighs, then these small circular burns on her ankles.”
Immediately Poe began to understand the rationale behind her delicate words.
He'd seen those marks on more than a few Resistance members who managed to escape capture. He sported similar ones himself after being captured on Jakku...after the Finalizer.
“We found traces of antipsychotics, nerve agents, and truth serum in her system.” Kalonia continued to explain.
He bowed his head as he listened, the sour taste of bile was creeping up in the back of his mouth. He pinched the bridge of his nose while the facts began to register in his mind. His teeth clamped down on the inside of his cheek, he forced himself to slowly exhale.
"There are chafe marks on her body from restraints. The partial break to her humerus looks like it's from prolonged strain during intero—"
He couldn’t let her fully pronounce the word.
"Alright!”
He didn't have it in him to yell anymore, but the tension in his voice filled the space like a streak of lightning.
To her credit, Kalonia never flinched at the sound. She stood patiently, unwavering, her face neutral as she watched him. An uneasy silence settled over the room.
He took a shaky breath, being mindful to adjust his tone before continuing.
“It’s okay.” He spoke softly, voice trembling despite his efforts. “I-I got it, Doc.”
He turned to face away as he desperately tried to calm the tightening in his throat. The corners of his eyes were sharply stinging. The best he could do to regain control was to continue biting down hard on the inside of his mouth, inhaling and exhaling through his nose.
After a couple of minutes he scrubbed both hands over his stubbled face. With the heels of his palms he rubbed at his eyes until he saw stars. Slowly, much too slowly for his liking, he was able to push his own agony down enough to recenter.
Poe turned to face Kalonia once more. He cleared his throat.
“She's not going to be in too much pain when she wakes up?” He demanded. “You can keep her comfortable, right?”
She pointed his attention to the IV stand by the head of the exam bed.
"I can't promise when she wakes up that she won't be in some pain, but we can adjust the medication through her drip and it'll take effect almost immediately."
He nodded. His hand combed through his hair before he slowly approached the bedside once more.
Poe stood and watched Hol's face for several minutes. He searched hard for any signs of movement or distress but found nothing. Her features were mercifully still and serene for the moment. She was protected under the fog of artificial sleep.
“How long are you going to keep her under?”
The question was spoken in a near whisper.
“Depends on her vitals, but at least a day, maybe two.”
Kalonia took the time to show him her vitals displayed on the monitor near the head of the bed, providing a brief explanation of what the numbers currently meant. For the moment, everything hovered just barely inside the acceptable range. It was far from ideal, but it was at least temporarily stable. They would have to see over the next few days how she progressed.
While standing there together, they witnessed a ripple of stiff movement pass through Hol’s limbs.
“Whoa…” Poe visibly straightened, alarm written on his face as he began to think the worst.
Kalonia’s hand found his arm.
“Those movements aren’t another seizure.” She assured him. “It’s a residual effect from nerve agent exposure. Think of it like the nerves in her body recalibrating.”
Poe nodded in quiet understanding, but all he could think about was the excuse Kalonia gave him earlier for keeping Hol restrained— how she didn’t want her to hurt herself. There was some logic behind it, he could admit that much. But now that he knew some of what happened to her, he could barely stomach the idea.
They allowed him to stay in Hol’s room overnight. Kalonia had a cot brought in for him to sleep on, but only under the condition that he promised two things: to use the refresher across the hall and to actually get some sleep.
When he was finally alone with her he felt oddly numb. There in the nearly dark ward of the medbay, he stood over Hol’s bed and just watched her. It took several minutes for him to work up the courage to approach, but he did it. His hand briefly rested on the metal railing, as if he was grounding himself before he finally reached to touch her.
His fingers snaked between her own as he slotted his hand over her's. Immediately he realized that her skin felt strangely warm, prompting him to reach up and feel the side of her face. A quick look at her vitals confirmed his suspicions, she had a low-grade fever beginning to form.
Poe made a note to point it out to one of the medtechs when they would come to make their rounds. He touched her hand once more before he stepped back to take a seat on the unfolded cot.
From there he watched her rest. He felt the heavy pull of exhaustion on his body, but sleep was the last thing he wanted for himself. His mind was all over the place, thinking about too many things at once.
Leia would come to visit her soon. He knew that much. Once she was past the worst and strong enough to speak, they would make her issue a report and do a formal debrief in front of Leia and her counsel.
It would be long and grueling. She would have to relive everything in great detail and be thoroughly questioned. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know all of the facts himself, but he definitely knew that he didn’t want to put her through having to recount it too many times. Those meetings were meant to be classified, but it wouldn’t take long before everyone would know.
Poe so desperately wished that he could save her from that part—when everyone on base would begin to look at her differently. He knew that it was inevitable though. While he sat there next to her bed, watching over her while she slept, he could only think about what was to come.
He knew that for however long she stayed asleep in this room, she was at least protected from all that was waiting out there. The thought comforted him some, even if it was only temporary.
He also knew that the two of them needed to talk about a lot of things once she woke up.
Her position in Black Squadron needed to be rethought. It was a massive understatement to say that her flying under him was unethical. Before Hol left for Batuu they tried to be discreet about their relationship. They both told themselves that they were doing a good enough job keeping things secret, a delusion that went well past the point of denial. They thought their regular heated arguments in front of the others and their general refusal to touch each other would provide ample cover, but their sneaking off to fuck in supplies closets hadn't always been the most covert. But now that she was back, Poe was ready to throw discretion out the window.
There were without a doubt other positions for her as a pilot, other opportunities, but it was going to be difficult convincing her. Making her understand that it wasn’t a punishment would be delicate.
He would talk it over with Leia, with some of the other squadron leaders. He would confess that he was the one in the wrong, and readily accept whatever disciplinary action came his way. They would figure something out for Hol. They had to.
Poe knew he also owed her an apology. He could have handled things differently when she volunteered for the mission, he could have spoken his mind while remaining supportive. His only memories of that conversation were just of him dressing her down, desperately trying to pull rank as a last ditch effort to keep her from leaving by herself.
The truth was that he was so fucking proud of her. During the weeks she was gone he had been livid, walking around with anger bubbling under his skin at all times. But now all he wanted was for her to hear how proud he felt, because he didn't want to leave her with those memories of their final argument.
She kept her head cool and found her way back. She survived whatever hell she fell into and fought her way out. He still couldn’t wrap his head around how she managed to pull off the execution of that landing. She had one broken arm, was trying to evade being hit with no comms system, all while coming in on fumes.
A medtech came by a couple of hours later, which woke Poe out of a light sleep.
He sat up and watched from his cot as they administered medication, checked the tubes and wires around her body to make sure nothing was out of place.
He mentioned the fever, which thankfully hadn't climbed any higher. They started her on another course of antibiotics.
“She looks peaceful, doesn’t she?” They asked him at one point.
The very moment he heard the word a bitter taste spread across his entire tongue, making his mouth twist downward in a frown. He knew they meant well enough, but his head still snapped around to look at them in disbelief.
Because "peaceful" had never been Hol.
Conniving.
Stubborn.
Impulsive.
A pain in his ass.
There were easily ten dozen choice adjectives he and quite a few others on this base could use to describe Hol Tarmin, but peaceful was definitely not one.
Peaceful was a word that people used to describe the dead.
And his girl wasn’t fucking dead.
The very idea was something he couldn’t dwell on for too long, because of the way his foundation had very nearly crumbled during those weeks she was gone. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt panic the way he had at the crash site, thinking at any moment he would be forced to helplessly watch while she slipped away from him, like watching water slowly leak out of his cupped hands.
It felt selfish to have those thoughts while she was lying there in front of him, but he was keenly aware of how impossibly lucky they were to get her back — how impossibly lucky he was.

Somehow
Tumblr media
Poe Dameron x Reader
Tumblr media
"Somehow, Palpatine returned." everyone was shocked, people started mumbling amongst themselves.
And you, you started laughing. Everyone looked at you in pure shock.
"Somehow." you repeated Poe as you nearly fell over. "What is even that?! 'Somehow, Palpatine returned.'" You imitated Poe, and now people around you also started to giggle a little. "Then somehow we are going to kill him so he won't come back again, somehow." you said as you laughed, many others joined you.
Poe should have been fuming, but he soon realized that your laughing helped others calm down.
Once your laughing stopped and you returned to your chambers you still couldn't help but giggle from time to time.
You were getting ready to sleep when the door behind you hissed open. BB-8 happily beeped as he entered the room, Poe followed him closely.
"Looks like, somehow you were able to find our room!" you could barely get the sentence out as it is, because of your laughing.
"Very funny."
"How could you say that?!" you were now holding your stomach.
"It's the truth! We don't know what happened! So, SOMEHOW, he is back." and you laughed again. Poe rolled his eyes but soon found himself smiling along with you. "And somehow, I love you even now..." he said and you looked at him.
"Well, there is no mystery in that." you opened your arms, expecting him to come hug you but he didn't move, instead he crossed his arms.
"No hugs for you, you laughed at me in front of everyone." you pouted and turned to BB-8.
"And you know little one, somehow, Mr Dameron went on for months without sex."
"You can't do that!" said Poe uncrossing his arms as he looked at you in disbelief.
"Somehow, I can." you grinned at him as he charged for you, grabbing you as you turned in his arms, giggling as he leaned in to bite your ear.
"When did my Wife start to disrespect me?!"
"When you blew up my favourite ship!"
"And somehow, you still said yes when I asked you to marry me."
"I did. Because somehow, I love you!"
"Enough already." he turned you around in his arms and kissed you.
Once he pulled back, he put his forehead against yours.
"I know this fight is not going to be easy. But I know we can win. And once we do, we can get that house you always wanted." you reached up and ran your fingers through his hair as you spoke.
"Then, finally, we will be able to start our family." he said as you kissed his lips once more.
Oh, just how much you loved this man.

At times of chaos, a little bit of happiness seems to drive everyone away from their troubles. When there was an announcement of an engagement at the cantina on one particularly glum day, things started to take a turn for the better. There were a lot of tears, all tears of joy as the glimmer of happiness sparked a whole lot of peace in people’s minds.
You grinned at the happy couple, one a member of the red squadron and the other a tech at the operating base, who also happens to be your best friend, Kamira. They looked so elated and their happiness was clearly contagious. You congratulated the couple, kissing your best friend’s forehead and bringing her in for a hug
“Be my maid of honour,” she whispered through her tears and you nod without a second of hesitation.
It took you a while to gather yourself but you were determined to make this the best wedding ever, to make it the best glimmer of hope the resistance has ever seen.
 .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You were now trudging around a busy market place, searching for the final accessories you were adding to Kamira’s bridal headdress, a small  astromech droid rolling at your heels telling you to hurry up.
“Yes, BB, I won’t be long. Go on, go bother your dad.” you said, turning to chastise the irritated droid.
It was then when you realised that the man in question was not behind you. You stopped and looked around, frowning when you couldn’t catch the unruly mop of curls or sharp stunning brown eyes
“Wher- Bebs, where’s your dad?” you knelt down to pat his round head. BB-8 made a sound that sounded something like “ Don’t care, am mad.” and you rolled your eyes at the droid.
“He can be mad all he likes, I’m not buying him new fittings until he learns how to behave himself.” a soothing masculine voice with a hint of authoritativeness cuts through the buzzing sounds of the market making you smile.
You gathered your face into a frown before turning to face him.
“You went into a whole lecture about me running off too far when you can waltz off wherever you want and whenever you want?” you poked the man’s chest as he stared you down with a smirk on his handsome face.
“You hadn’t even noticed how long I’ve been missing.” He raised his eyebrows indignantly at you and you couldn’t help the smile at creeped up onto your face.
“Oh shut up, Poe, here, hold these bags.” you shoved your things into his arms and walked away before he could catch anything else from the expression on your face.
Your friendship with the Black Leader had been a unrequired one. You had been working late one night, deep in focus when an X-Wing swooped into the base and landed slightly clumsily. You squinted into the darkness and quickly ran towards the ship when no one came out of it. You pried the foggy glass covering the cockpit open and you were shocked to find Poe Dameron semi-conscious and on the verge of death.
You had pulled him out with all of your strength, hulling the 80 kg pilot onto one of your trolley’s and pushing him to the med bay, screaming for help. You hadn’t heard from him for about two weeks when suddenly one of your favourite droids, an orange and white astromech, delivered a little message for you from Poe. You both got along amazingly and now here the pilot was, helping you search for wedding preparation things.
You watched as Poe adjusted the large bag of items on his shoulder as he bargained with a seller. You couldn’t deny that he was a beautiful man to look at. His sweet mannerisms and innocent eyes meant that he could easily get his way at times but you allowed it. The setting suns created a beautiful glow that complimented Poe’s tan skin and brown eyes, turning them into caramel orbs that sparkled like gems at a distance. Poe turned to you with a triumphant smile, indicating that he had won the bargain as the shopkeeper mumbled something and stuffed the things into another bag.
“Come on, it's getting late, we should get some rest.” Poe’s voice cuts through your thoughts and the both of you walk towards a nearby inn.
 .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
“What do you mean one room?” Poe runs a hand down his face and takes a deep breath.
“We’re all booked up unfortunately,” said the bored receptionist.
“It's alright Poe, we’ll adjust, we’ll take the room sir.” you said, hooking your arm around Poe and grabbing the key that was set out in front of him giving the receptionist a forced smile.
Whatever negatives Poe and you thought about the room had been magnified to tenfold when you unlocked the door. The floor was absolutely filthy and the room was cramped, with a bed that was too big for its space. You turned to Poe who was staring into the room with the same expression you had brewing in your head. You couldn’t help but giggle and pinch his cheek at how blatant his emotions were showing through and he snapped out of it, following you into the room.
BB-8 was camping the night in his little astromech pod on the ship Poe flew you in. That just left you and Poe to find somewhere to crash for the night before heading back to base when the suns arose. You sigh and pull out a few scarfs that you brought with you for comfort, laying it on the bed so that you could have some peace of mind when you sleep. It took you a while to realise that Poe was staring like a lost child.
“You okay?” you turned to Poe, a worried look on your face.
“Uhm, yea sure. I’ll take the floor, you can have the bed.” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck bashfully.
“Don’t be stupid, Poe, you can sleep on the bed with me, I’m not going to throw you off the bed in my sleep.” you chuckled.
Truthfully, you were worried about his back. Ever since that accident, he had been complaining about how bad his back would hurt and nothing seemed to solve it. You didn’t want to be the cause of more of his pain, that might essentially take him away from his true love, flying. You gave him a small smile and head to the refresher to freshen up.
A few minutes later, there you were, staring face to face with Poe Dameron, casanova of the resistance. You can’t help but think of the many women and men that this man had bedded and you internally smack yourself for thinking up such vulgarity. You close your eyes and pretend to sleep, eventually lulled to unconsciousness by the soft warmth of Poe’s body heat and his soft breathing.
Poe, on the other hand, was wide awake. His plans of falling asleep in a lone bed were quenched by the bored receptionist and he was now given an opportunity like no other. He knew you were pretending to sleep, so he did too but when your breathing steadied and your eyelids relaxed, Poe laid there and stared at you. He almost never got enough time with you, just to observe you and swim in the feelings that he felt for you. Why would he want to travel to the land of dreams when all he dreamt of was before him?
Now, he pulled himself out of the urge to graze your face with his fingers, to memorise your lips with his. He tucked his hands under the pillow so that they didn’t betray him. Everynight, when he succumbed to the few hours of sleep that he had, he would dream of you. He would see your worried face, the face that you wore when you discovered him at the brink of his death. Your hair was a mess and you had an oil smear on your forehead but Poe thought you were an angel who was going to take him to a better place.
His hands itched to tuck a stray piece of hair that fell on your face as you soundly slept but he reeled himself back again. Suddenly, with a big sniff, you shifted in your sleep and one of your hands landed directly in front of Poe’s nose. He slowly took in a breath and smelled your soft soap and it was then when all of his urges took over him. Slowly, he extracted one of his hands from under the pillow and traced your hand softly, every line etched painstakingly into his brain as his fingers skimmed them, willing himself to remember every single detail.
You didn’t rouse from your deep sleep although a small smile graced your face as your pinky twitches gently. Poe sighed, slowly letting his heart leave its cavity and fill the lines on your hands. He hooked his pinky around yours gently and waited with bated breath to see whether you would be jolted awake. Your pinky stopped twitching but your breathing stayed the same and Poe continued to stare at you until his eyes betrayed him, sleep consuming him like a hungry curse.
 .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You awoke to something warm under your face. It was so soft and smelled like clean skin with a hint of motor oil and leather, giving you a sense of comfort like no other. You nuzzled your nose into the warmth and slowly opened your eyes. All you saw was an arm extending from whatever was under your face and memories of last night flooded back to you. You didn’t move but your eyes met with the sleeping Poe, who was snoring softly, a respectful distance between the two of you, minus the hand that was softly tucked under your cheek.
The rebellious commander looked ethereal in the morning sun, his curls everywhere, his eyebrows and lips set in a neutral position, giving him an angelic resting face. You resisted the urge to close the gap and feel his soft pouty lips on yours. Your heart pounded as you took the chance you had and softly brushed his curls that were at his forehead. The second your hand came in contact with his forehead, a jolt of electricity ran up your spine, and you had to literally pull yourself together and not throw yourself over the sleeping Poe.
His eyebrows twitched and you resumed your original position, closing your eyes. He slowly woke up and his hand that was under your face gently cupped it as a soft sigh emitted from him, twisting at your insides. Your heart was pounding under your chest and you felt the bed dip slightly as Poe slid out of it and pulled his hand with him.
You only opened your eyes as you heard the door to the refresher close. You silently flung yourself out of bed and did your happy dance as all the receptors of your brain fired at once, your heart pumping adrenaline throughout your body making you feel like a mad woman. The sound of water hitting the floor stopped and you bit your lip, sliding back into bed and pretending you just had woken up when Poe opened the door again.
“We’ll leave for the base after we get some breakfast.” Poe said smiling at you and you nod with a knowing smile, a smile that could only be fueled by the sweet feeling that your commander has fallen for you.
 .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You were running now, fabric billowing around you as you ran through the halls, in search of that one door. You found it, keying in the password and letting the door swoosh open before storming inside. Poe turned to look at you, adjusting the buttons to his uniform with a small frown on his face, but the second he properly took a look at you his mouth dropped into a soft smile.
“How’s it going, Commander?” you giggle, realising that he had put all his buttons wrongly, setting a small jar aside and reaching for him.
“I look ridiculous.” he mumbled and you laughed, patting his lapel down and pulling him towards his table.
“You look powerful, trust me.” you say, perching on his table and pushing his shoulders down so that he is seated at the chair.
You reached out for the jar of mousse and lifted his head up by his chin, so that he was at eye level with you. Without a single word, you started to adjust his curls, twisting each piece so that they fall beautifully. Poe was looking at you with his huge tempting eyes, and you looked past them, not wanting to be distracted. Once you were satisfied with his hair, you grabbed some powder and dabbed it lightly on his face.
“Ready for your big speech?” you murmured, smoothing down his eyebrows with your fingers and letting your hands trail over the sides of his face, examining him.
He shrugged, making you nod with a grin, knowing that Poe was more of the pep talk kinda person, preferring to steer clear from large structured speeches. You placed a hand on his chest and slowly pushed him against the chair as your eyes finally met his. They were slightly hooded and he gave you all of his attention, tuning his entire body towards you. You held eye contact, determined not to falter as you started unbuttoning his uniform. You tugged it and righted his buttons, your fingers working slowly and carefully on the intricately ordained uniform. Once you were done, you turned and picked up the mirror behind you, holding it in front of Poe.
“See you look cute” you smile from behind the mirror.
Poe’s hand came to rest atop of the mirror, slowly pushing it down to reveal your face. His eyes were glittering under the dim lights of his room and he was gazing at you with a new look on his face, one of wonder and amazement. You’d recognize the look on his face, the same face he used when he would blow up a TIE in the sky, his face ablaze in the monitor and a maddening expression that made him look like a scientist who had discovered all he wanted to know.
“Yea, beautiful.” he whispered softly as his eyes grazed your face.
He reached his hand out and cupped your cheek, calloused thumb tracing your jawline, making your eyes flutter close and heart quicken instantly.
“Poe…” you breathed, trying to keep your eyes on him.
“So beautiful…” he was getting closer now and you could see the light dusting of pink across his nose.
You held onto the mirror between the two of you like it was your lifeline fingers digging into its hard ridges as Poe’s nose brushed against yours softly. Suddenly a loud beep launched the both of you apart and Poe stood up from his place, turning just in time for the door to whoosh open again.
“Found your data pa- Why are you both looking at me like that?” Finn says, holding up Poe’s data pad.
You adjusted your expression casually at Finn’s raised eyebrow as Poe coughed and straightened his uniform.
“Knock next time, damn.” you heard Poe murmur and you purse your lips, keeping in a laugh.
“Time for the-”
“Right, rehearsal.” Poe said shortly, exiting the room and Finn shot you a look of surprise and followed him a second later, leaving you stunned with your own thoughts.
 .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Poe watched you throughout the ceremony, unable to think of anything else as he watched the way you smiled lovingly at your best friend. Poe found himself replacing the bride and groom with himself and you, his hand coming up to fiddle with his mother’s ring on the necklace around his neck. You would make the most radiant bride, your smile itself would be the highlight of Poe’s day and to be the reason for that smile would be his greatest blessing.
He got through his speech just fine, his eyes searching for everyone except you, worrying that he would stumble along the way if he looked at you. After the ceremony, he looked around for you, his mind racing at the events of the morning and wondering how it would feel to speak to you again. You weren’t anywhere near the party, and Poe had a good idea where you would be. He ran, the resistance of the wind messing up his curls again and his boots thudding against the floor.
He stopped when he caught the sight of you, your cape billowing in the wind as you looked over the balcony at the scenery before you. You looked no short of a queen, your posture regal and your head held high. Poe was mesmerised, even more than he ever was when he had the chance to feel your lips against his moments before. He should have said something to you before he left for rehearsal, his heart now punishing him as he stared at you.
“I know you’re behind me, Poe, I could hear your boots from a mile away.” you said humorlessly without turning around, your voice soft as it carried away in the winds.
Poe approached you slowly, twisting his fingers slightly and taking his place beside you.
“Why?” Poe knew what you were asking and he quite frankly didn’t need you to say more.
“You saved my life, so it's undoubtedly yours.” He said softly but firmly and you turned to look at him with a shocked expression, your eyes wide, not expecting him to say what he just had said.
“Oh Poe,” you breathed, grabbing his hand and tugging him close, claiming his lips with yours as you cupped his face with your free hand.
His arms snaked around your waist as he pulled you closer, deepening the kiss, sighing as his heart gave way completely. He pulled away, but one look at the way your face was flushed made him pull you back for another kiss, one that blazed something so violently inside of him that he found it hard to pull back. Eventually, he rested his forehead against yours as you held onto him, the both of you breathing in each other’s air as your hand rested against his chest, over his heart.
“I-” you tried to say but Poe softly clamped his hand over your mouth and brought your head down to his shoulder, hugging you tightly.
In that embrace you felt it, that glimmer of hope, the best one you had ever seen in your time with the resistance.

The Only One
Episode 7
Tumblr media
prev | Fic Masterlist | My Masterlist
Summary: The last time you saw Poe was right before he blew up Starkliller Base - a huge victory for the Resistance. Things go to hell after that and you are separated from Poe, needing to rely on your instincts...and the Force. A huge secret starts to be revealed.
a/n: This Episode glosses over the events in the film The Last Jedi. You don't have to be knowledgeable about the sequel films to continue the story - everything that relates to Elia is summarized here. She is a bit separate from Poe during film events, so this is not a re-telling.
Pairing: Poe Dameron x female original character. Fic is written in second person, but the female "you" has a name (It reads basically the same as any other xreader)
Word Count: 1.6k
Content: violence, action, little angst (no more than in the films), not beta'd
Tumblr media
PREVIOUSLY on "The Only One"...
He turned around one more time, granting you another sweet smile. “Wait for me, Ells. I’ll be right back.”
Somehow his humor and good nature gave you hope. Poe always gave you hope.
“May the Force be with you,” you whispered to no one really. Or, to all of them.
Tumblr media
The next week was hell.
Which was, perhaps, what a demon like yourself deserved.
At first, the Resistance buzzed with the thrill of victory. Poe and his team destroyed Starkiller Base after Rebel legends Han Solo and Chewbacca worked together with the stormtrooper who defected and a young woman named Rey.
But before you could celebrate or have much of a reunion with Poe, the stormtrooper, who you learned was named Finn, was sent to medical in critical condition, while Rey supposedly flew away to find Luke Skywlaker.
Kylo Ren had murdered Han Solo.
You thought taking out Starkiller Base would give the Resistance a huge advantage in the uphill battle against the First Order, but the New Republic had suffered tremendous losses, crippling, if not obliterating support for the Resistance.
Your assignment kept you apart from Poe for days, so you hadn’t seen him since that fateful moment directly before the Starkiller Base battle.
...where he kissed you and asked you to wait for him.
So many had been lost since then - the chaos, nonstop. After the most recent attack took out most of Resistance command, someone named Holdo took over.
You were dying to see Poe, desperate to see for yourself that he was okay. Every time something else exploded, you felt sure you’d receive a report of his death. The stress piled up as you worked separately from Poe, thinking he might die, or you might die.
To make a desperate situation worse, the attack on the ship's bridge left Leia seriously wounded. And directly before Holdo took command, Poe was demoted, which infuriated you.
And, aside from the fact that you were (thankfully) able to focus, or hyper focus, as it were, on computer programming and other computer tech needs, the news of Commander Dameron's demotion was all you could think about...
...or talk about.
Thankfully, Perrha was with you for the past few days and was a wonderful grounding force for you.
Now, the Resistance was trying to safely land transports on the planet Crait.
Everyone watched in horror as one after the other, the First Order blew them out of the sky. You kept yourself busy working, tears streaming down your face at the thought of Poe being on one of those obliterated ships.
Poe felt the same way.
After maybe the worst week of his life (aside from when his mom died), Poe woke up from the little nap Leia's stun gun gave him. He listened patiently as Leia explained Holdo's plan, then watched in horror as transport after transport was obliterated.
"Where's Elia?" He asked Leia, as if she might somehow know. He had lost too many today, not only on the bridge, but when some of his closest friends died in the hangar explosion.
Leia shook her head, unsure.
Poe stared out into space. "Which one is she on?" He murmured, thankful that his new friend Finn was at least safe for the moment. Hopefully.
Tumblr media
The planet's surface was so close. You and Perrha might make it through this. But who could be sure what awaited you on Crait, with the First Order bearing down hard?
As you entered the planet's atmosphere, the transport closest to yours exploded - near enough to your own that the blast and debris wreaked havoc. You were taking serious damage - hit hard enough to crash, just not to explode instantly like the neighboring transport.
Everyone around you was astoundingly calm, focused and professional, but a crash landing would not be avoidable.
Perrha's eyes met yours frantically as fire, debris and smoke filled the transport.
"We're not gonna make it," they gasped, coughing from all the smoke.
Panic gripped your heart. You didn't want to die. For once in your life, you really wanted to live and not just in terms of survival. You wanted to help the Resistance. You wanted them to win. You needed to learn about the Force, and ascertain from Leia if you were truly doomed to be a servant of the darkness.
Perrha was your friend and so was Poe. Your very best friend. Your heart broke as you thought of never seeing him again. It couldn't end this way.
So instead of giving in to despair, you opened yourself up to the flow of energy - no. The Force. A wall of fire swept through the transport.
"No." Your voice could barely be heard over the commotion. It wasn't a plea but a command.
Perrha cried out your name as you stretched out your hands and literally pushed the fire backward.
Your breathing steadied, your countenance - a mask of serenity. Your eyes fluttered closed as the Force surrounded you, flowed through you.
The fire would not touch you. Nor Perrha.
The remaining Resistance fighters watched from their transports, in awe, as a transport-on-fire gently touched down on the planet's surface.
You heard nothing. You only felt.
Calm.
Finally, you heard Perrha screaming your name. "This thing is gonna blow, come on!" They quite literally jerked you away - your boots thumping on the planet's surface as you ran for your life.
The ship exploded, knocking the survivors to the ground with a concussive force - dangerous, but not fatal.
Your ears rang, dusty salt filled your lungs, but Perrha hauled you up. You ran again, as fast as you had ever in your life.
The First Order had entered the planet's atmosphere and took up position at the mine entrance - the old Rebel base. Unfortunately, your transport's crash left you quite far away on foot. But thankfully, the First Order would assume your exploded crash site would leave no survivors - giving you time to run.
A battle raged overhead and in the distance. Blaster and cannon fire, and boot prints turned the ashy, salty surface blood red.
Your group finally made it to the mine, but there was no getting in the front entrance. The huge blaster door was sealed, but under heavy attack.
"Is there another way in?" You wondered aloud.
"Is there another way out?" Perrha countered, panicked. "Are they trapped in there?"
Your ragtag team rallied, determined to find a way to either get in to the safety of the mine, or help the remaining Resistance fighters escape, if they were trapped.
Suddenly you saw an old rust bucket ship zoom overhead and land at the edge of a shallow cliff.
Your team arrived just in time to see a young woman...making dozens of piles of rocks...float. This action served to clear a blocked path, allowing the Resistance fighters to escape the mine.
You saw the stormtrooper, Finn. The young woman must be Rey. You were so distracted by her dazzling display of the Force, that you almost didn't notice that just beside Finn...
was Poe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finn raced into Rey's arms for a hug, but it was Poe who noticed your ash-covered, singed, rag-tag crew, confused, for a moment, as to why you would have appeared with Rey.
"Elia," he breathed, pushing his way past anyone and everything in his path, including the huge boulders Rey had lifted moments before.
You were an adorable mess, most of your hair had tumbled out of your twin buns. Soot tarnished your cheeks and clothes. By some miracle your unlaced boots stayed in place while you ran for your life.
As Poe clambered toward you, your hands anxiously grabbed for your backpack straps…only to come up empty.
“M-my backpack,” you gasped, frantically touching your arms and chest.
Okay, people were dead.
Your transport crashed and exploded.
You only survived because you wielded the Force and ran for your life.
The First Order was bearing down.
Poe was alive!
But your brain?
“My backpack,” you repeated, desperately, craving the familiar soothing touchstone of its frayed straps.
“Here, sweetheart,” Poe gently offered, reaching for the fallen strap, to pull it back onto your shoulder. “Looks like the other one got burned.”
Which meant…
You grabbed for the other strap urgently, realizing the little pack might have been destroyed, leaving your wings out in the open.
Poe, so relieved to see you alive, wishing with all his heart that the could throw his arms around you, tried to understand…
“No, no no …” You shook your head, eyes wide with horror.
“Ells?” He asked, confused, holding up his hands in a supplicating manner, trying to show you he wouldn’t touch you if you didn’t want him to. “Baby, are you hurt?”
“I can’t…my backpack,” you gasped, short of breath. “I can’t…” Shaking your head rapidly, you backed away, running into Perrha…who got a look at your exposed back.
“Oh, Elia. A-are you - w-what happened…” they trailed off, glancing at Poe, confused at the sight of your tightly furled, dark wings. Perrha wasn’t sure if you were burned, or what was going on.
“What is it?” He demanded. “Is she hurt?” He reached for your arm to turn you around, but before his hand made contact, you clenched your fists and cried out.
“No!”
…sending tiny bits of rock flying outward from you body in every direction.
This got Rey’s attention.
As far as the young Jedi trainee knew, she and Leia were the only ones capable of this sort of thing.
Poe backed away, stunned, brushing bits of gravel from his face and hair, exchanging worried glances with Perrha, but determined to make sure you were all right.
He thought to approach you, but stopped short at a miraculous sight.
Your hair had tumbled down, beautiful and wild, your eyes closed in concentration.
Hands clenched by your sides, you held yourself still as bits of rock and earth circled you slowly.
And behind you, dark, slick wings unfurled.

“Deal.” The moment you said that a smile came across his face. You glanced back at the book you were asked to retrieve, before he could say something you grabbed it from the table. You looked back over at him, keeping the book curled up in your arm. “Not a word.”
“Only if you keep your end of the deal, doll,” Ayatsuji replied as he shoved his hands in his pockets. “You’ll have a hard time hiding that book at the party, what do you plan on doing?”
“I will be leaving early, I have my own matters to tend to.” You took out your phone, ready to call your driver to pick you up. “The Society is not the only affair that keeps me busy. There is something I need to get to the bottom of, a mystery if you will.”
“How interesting, but you are not a detective, are you?” He hums, tapping his gloved finger against his cheek. His eyes are fixed on you, scanning over your form, trying to find any sign of what you are thinking.
“Perhaps, it is a family profession after all.” You picked up the skirt of your dress and began making your way towards the door. You spared him a glance as you pushed open the door to the hallway. “Now I suppose I’ll see you soon enough and hopefully we will be on the same side of the playing field. Goodbye, have a lovely evening, detective.”
“We will see…”
You stepped out into the long hallway, slowly making your way to the garage where your driver would be picking you up. You looked down at your phone, dialing up your driver’s number. The ringing mixed with the echoing of your heeled shoes as they clicked against the floor. You were a far enough distance away from the auction hall that you knew Ayatsuji was not following you, but something still felt off. You felt yourself grow more tense as you walked along the hall, as if someone was watching you. The mixture of clicking and ringing did not help calm your nerves, only blocking out another one of your senses…
Click…
Ring…
Click…
Ring…
Click…
Ring…
Click…
Ring-
You heard the line get cut at the sound of your phone getting a call. You pulled your phone away to see who was calling you, you looked down to see the contact name as none other than William Shakespeare. You hit the bright green button on the screen without hesitation, answering the call as you held it up to your ear.
“William, I have the book-“
“(Name), I need you to come to room two-three-six, the plan has changed.” You heard William’s voice speak to you, but he was not worried, not bothered, if anything he was… happy? “Things may be turning in our favor after all.”
Did he find Miss Jane already? Thoughts ran through your mind as you made your way down through the floors of the hotel. The clicking of your heels rang through the halls, everything was silent except the clicking of those heels. Soon enough you came to the door, knocking once and the door was answered not even a moment later. It was answered not a moment later by a familiar face, just not one you were expecting.
“Joan?”
Before you stood the maid who was one of the first people you met at the Society’s headquarters, only she was dressed in an outfit suited for business, a black suit and a blue plaid tie. Her long blond hair was down, not up in her usual bun that also let her blue eyes be on display. She smiled back at you, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she stepped aside to allow you to come in. “It seems we have quite a bit to explain to you.”
“What do you mean- Oh!” You cut yourself off as you entered the room, turning your head to see sitting at the table of the luxury room the familiar face of William who summoned you along with-
“I apologize for setting you up, (Name).” Those words escaped those lips, soft and gentle as always. You saw sitting at the table with William, the form of Miss Jane. She was not dressed how you expected, she herself wore a black vest over a white button up, a long blue skirt, it was simple but elegant. She rested her head against her hand, a smile coming across her face. “The truth is, I never turned myself into Fitzgerald, I would never dream of it.”
You heard the sound of the person you once thought to be a maid closing the door behind you as she approached the table. William looked over at you with a smile, before a laugh escaped from his lips. “Honestly it surprised me as well, but Jane, Wells, and Leroux fooled us all.”
“Wells?” You turned to look at the woman who opened the door for you, was that Joan’s real name? Who was she really?
“Ah yes, let me properly introduce you,” Jane said, reaching out a hand over to the woman standing beside you. “This is an old friend of mine from my work in England when I was looking for capable individuals to join the Society. May I introduce to you H.G. Wells, she has been the one keeping our Society safe from the shadows this whole time along with the one who has been brewing up those  updates  on where I was for Emma and the others that led to this elaborate planning for this ball that fit into the plan I devised with Wells and Leroux.”
“But Gaston is missing, I found his blood in the room along with-“
“Not missing, he is exactly where he needs to be in this plan.” Wells cut in, coming to sit down on the couch not too far from the table, swinging her arms over the back of the couch and crossing her legs. “Leroux was kidnapped by a well-known European criminal known as Nikolai Gogol. Due to Gaston’s time working with the European Union when tracking down Fyodor Dostoevsky, he found evidence that the two had connections to one another.”
“So this all has to do with Fyodor, doesn’t it?” You asked, glancing around the room at everyone.
“Exactly, Gaston had informed me of what happened when he was asked by the Port Mafia to look into the disappearance of one of their executives who had Fyodor in their custody. We immediately knew Fyodor was planning something.” Jane nodded to your question and answered as it all was obvious. “We knew that the Port Mafia would be wanting any information they could in Fyodor after so even before all this we had all of Gaston’s observations from his work in European Union on Fyodor printed into a book and set up to be sold at an auction, that’s the same book you are holding now. We planned on dangling a carrot for the Port Mafia to desire and for Fyodor to destroy.”
You glanced down at the book you held, this was all a ploy.
“I apologize for you having to be a pawn in all of this, but you played your role wonderfully.” Jane complemented with a smile, a giggle escaping her voice. “Now Gaston has Fyodor under constant surveillance and that  rat  has no idea, he will practically reveal everything to us and that bastard has no eyes on us because he is so focused on the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia.”
“I see, I have just a few questions…” You found yourself sitting down at the table along with the others, you felt yourself crew at your lower lip in thought. “How did you fake yourself leaving at the mansion all those months ago and how did you know that Nikolai would be here?”
“Ah, well the first answer is with Ms. Wells and her ability. She was disgusted as the driver who brought the two of us there. That envelope I gave her with the instruction to  open when the time was right  was all she needed to know what to do.” You glanced over at the woman on the couch, she was disgusted as a maid for all these months, what was stopping her from being disguised as a driver? “You see Wells’ ability is called Time Machine and allows her to manipulate time itself. So inside the envelope told her the exact time to activate her ability, when you got inside the car. She activated her ability on me, giving me 3300 seconds to go back in time myself and slip away from Fitzgerald, who was also used as a pawn in all of this. After that I returned to Europe for a few months, working with some old friends of mine in the Order of the Clocktower, but I am afraid that is trivial at the current moment.”
“I did not expect for you to be this much of a mastermind, Miss Jane.” You heard William chuckle as he crossed his legs with a closed-eyed smile. “But I suppose I should have expected that from the leader of the Society of Protection.”
“Well, I do pride myself on my understanding of the human mind, so manipulating it with both my plans and my ability is all too easy, no offense my dear (Name).” Jane apologized with a smile which you nodded to.
“None was taken, Miss Jane. After all, I have quite a lot to still learn.” You giggled along with her smile, which was true you did have so much to learn compared to the actual geniuses that hid within the Society. “But what of my second question?”
“Ah, about Nikolai, well that is thanks to your visit to Mr. Tonan with Leroux and Dr. Stevenson such a long time ago. Do you remember his assistant and the strange behavior he had?” You nodded at Jane’s question which caused her to hum. “I did not believe him at first, just a strange assistant and nothing more, at least that is what I thought at first. As you know Gaston is a composer at the Paris Opera House, a theater, he has experience with actors and the art of such so it is easy for him to tell when one is acting. He told me that he forced the attitude of a sane man to have a perfect accent, but not to one who works with actors from that part of the world every day, so detecting a fake accent was child’s play for him.”
“So Mr. Tonan’s assistant is Nikolai in disguise?” You asked, most. to yourself as you pondered the question and then it clicked. “Wait, Mr. Tonan and his assistant were invited to the ball, so Nikolai was among the guests.”
“Just as planned, they fell into our trap like rats.” Wells smiles as she speaks, running her hand through her hair. “And now we will trap them all like rats, all of them running in a maze they don’t even know.”

Chapter 3 Song:  Breezeblocks  ‿︵‿︵୨˚̣̣̣͙୧ - -୨˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵
When they arrive at the bench where Ranpo and Aeris met, Atsushi pauses and so does aeris. The feeling was getting worse and Atsushi pausing did not reassure him in any way. Ranpo’s ability was nothing but to deduct the correct outcome, and Jun’ichiro’s ability is to make illusions. He just hopes that Atsushi’s ability is much more physical.
Aeris look at atsushi, but before he can get a word out, his mouth is covered by a hand and he’s dragged behind the group.
“Wh- Hey, let him go!” Atsushi calls out.
Atsushi whips his hand to attack but he was too late. A knife pressed against Aeris’s throat. Ranpo looks behind him to check on Atsushi and Aeris, only to be taken off guard by violent maneuver and Aeris being used as a hostage. Jun’Ichiro instantly uses his ability, ‘Light Snow,’ and creates an illusion. Aeris disappears from the attacker and atsushi appears in his place, arm becoming a claw and scratching at the.
Unsuccessfully, light snow disappears. Jun’ichiro was knocked out, Ranpo holding his side, Atsushi slides away from the attacker, Aeris standing in front of Jun’ichiro’s body holding a knife.
Aeris’s eyes are wide, hands shaking as he stares down the attacker.
‘Do it’
Aeris gasps.
‘Keep your eyes open, stare at the person, and stab yourself.’
Aeris points the knife to his stomach, eyes wide open, mouth pressed into a line. The warm feeling of hands surrounding his shaky ones and guiding them farther before plunging it into his stomach.
Ranpo and Atsushi stare at Aeris, his actions making them worry, but he doesn’t tumble. Aeris rips the knife out and plunges it into the wound again, the cloaked attacker falling to their knees.
Aeris walks forward, twisting the knife little by little every step he walks. It doesn’t hurt him, but it definitely hurts the other person.
‘Stop,’ the voice says as aeris gasps, pulls out the knife, and stops walking. He drops the knife and falls back as the cloaked person lays on the floor, blood pooling under the person. Ranpo quickly gets up, tumbles all the while, and rushes towards Aeris.
Aeris holds his hands over his mouth as two police men take the cloaked person and uncovers them. Ranpo blocks his view as they work with the injured criminal.
Atsushi walks over with Jun’ichiro with him, ready to help if needed.
“Just as I thought…” Ranpo mumbled as the police take off the hood of the attacker, “It’s one of the students.”
Aeris looks down, the more he kept his eyes opened, the more dizzy he became. He closes his eyes, feeling his body become light and having gravity take control.

When he wakes up, he’s in a bed with Atsushi sitting on his right side. He sits up, the shuffling sound making Atsushi wake up and look at Aeris.
“You’re awake! Good, I got scared when you fainted on Ranpo,” Atsushi smiles awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck as he starts sweating. Aeris’s dull purple eyes were staring right through Atsushi, making the white tiger nervous.
“Are you alright? How are you feeling? Are you hungry? I could go ask Kunikida for some money to be able to get you some food…”
Right as he finishes his rapid stream of question, Aeris’s stomach growls. By now, Aeris would be at his place, eating in the lonely, japanese style dining room. The student looks away in embarrassment, comedic blue lines appearing on his head as Atsushi looks at him.
Atsushi smiles as he stands up and pats the boy’s head.
“I’ll be right back then, what would you like to eat?”
Aeris looks up at Atsushi, lips moving before he can stop them.
“Udon… please…”
“Alright then. Doctor Yosano said that you shouldn’t walk right now, even though you had no wounds, the exhaustion of using you ability for the first time could make you faint another time, so it’s best that you stay here as I get you your food.”
Atsushi explains before leaving.
Aeris nods a little after he exits the room, eyes looking around the infirmary before laying them on his hands. He can still feel the feeling on the knife in his hands, the feeling of warm claws gently holding his, guiding his hands into stabbing his gut, pushing him to walk forward, moving his hands to twist the knife.
The only thing he could think about, other than the hunger he’s experiencing, is the possibility of him killing that person.
“Just as I thought…” Ranpo mumbles… “It’s one of the students…”
Ranpo’s voice rang in Aeris’s thoughts, was he a murderer now? Did he kill someone? Did he kill a student…?
His stomach grumbles, his thoughts getting cut off by the sound of the door opening and head snapping up.
“Your thoughts are so loud kid,”
A woman comes in with a tray, Atsushi right behind her with a medium size bowl with steam coming from the top.
“This is doctor Yosano by the way, Aeris,” Atsushi says as the woman, Yosano, places the tray at his hips and places the bowl on it. Grabbing the spoon and bringing the stock up to his lips, he blows once, twice, three times, and slups just a small bit of the liquid.
“I’m quite disappointed that you yourself didn’t get hurt, ranpo didn’t get that hurt either, not enough for me to have to half-way kill him to heal him either way, and Jun’ichiro was just knocked out.”
Aeris smiles, looking up at the doctor and atsushi. “Thank you, Doctor Yosano,” he nods at her “and you too Atsushi.”
He grabs the chopsticks and picks up some of the noodles, blows on them, steam moving with his breath, and brings them up to his open mouth, gently and quietly slurping up the noodles. As he continues eating, Yosano and Atsushi watch him, to think such a small boy would have such a strong ability.
Their thoughts go back to the meeting they had with the president and the rest of the agency…
“I found his papers,” Ranpo says, his wound was nothing to worry about, it was just a scratch to Yosano’s standards and didn’t need much treatment, he was exagerating the amount of pain he was in.
‘What do they say then?” Kunikida asks, reading his ‘Ideals’ book, which was upside down.
“Well, it says his birthdate, his age, shows his finger print, his parents, his address, its says everything, be a little more specific Kunikida,” Dazai chimes in, his long legs laying on the table. Everyone was sitting at the table, the president sitting in silence.
“Who are his parents?” Fukuzawa asks.
“His father was Dahl Roald and his mother was Crosland Felicity…” Ranpo hums “but that doesn’t make sense…”
“What doesn’t make sense?” Jun’ichiro asks, Atsushi and Kyouka wondering the same thing.
“His biological mother is Junoa Sako and his biological father is Dahl Roald, so why does it say that his mother is Crosland Felicity?”
“Drammaaaaa!” Dazai sings, before geting bonked on the head by Kunikida’s book.
“So you mean to say that Aeris was kidnapped?” Kunikida inquires.
“No, I don’t mean that, I guess when Juona found out about Dahl having a baby with another lady, she gave him Aeris. It says here that Dahl is dead, so I believe that Aeris was sent back to his mother because of that.”
“And, just a guess, his mother is also dead. Right?” The president asks.
“Yes.”
“Another orphan in the building I guess.” Dazai giggles, Atsushi and Jun’ichiro shrink back.
“What about his ability?” Dazai looks over to Ranpo, a cheeky smirk on his face, “that’s what we’re here to talk about right?”
Ranpo nods, swiftly moving through the pages in his hands.
“It says here, Ability: Unknown, description: Is able to injure others in their line of sight as the ability holder injures themselves physically.”
“There’s definitely more to that than what it says,” Ranpo says.
Yosano sighs, shaking her head as she steps back and turns to the door.
“Well, I’ll be going, I have somethings I have to do boys.”
Aeris stops eating at that, the last noodle hanging off of his lips. He slurps the noodle up and nods. Atsushi turns towards her and smiles.
Again, it’s just him and Atsushi in the room.
“Did you know you had an ability?” Atsushi asks, truly curious about his answer.
“Mmmmh, maybe…” Aeris mumbles, eyes drooping, “I remember my dreams, it was usually about a lamb getting eaten by wolves, or a woman killing her husband, or about some fantasy book I was reading then.”
“Other than that, I never felt pain. I would fall and scrape my knee, but nothing,” Aeris sighs “But when I look over at someone else, they suddenly have an injured knee.”
“I’ll take it that you didn’t know about it then.”
“I’m glad you caught on,” Aeris looks at his reflection looking back at him from the remaining soup in the bowl.
“I believe you’re going to ask me what I would name my ability if I had one, but you didn’t know how to ask me, right?”
“Yeah…” Atsushi rubs the back of his neck, “am I that obvious?”
“I’m just really good at reading people,” Aeris nods “But if I had to name the ability I have right now… I would name it…
Lamb to the Slaughter,”

— DON’T CALL ME PRINCESS
Tumblr media
PAIRING — Poe Dameron x Padmé Solo (OC)
SUMMARY — Named after her biological grandmother, Padmé has always been running away from her destiny and refused to be trained at the Jedi Academy. She chose the life on the run alongside her father but her older brother kidnaps her, hoping she would join him in the dark side. General Leia Organa is determined to get her daughter back and sends the Resistance’s best pilot to rescue “Princess Padmé”.
AUTHOR’S NOTE — I really wanted to make it a story with the fem!Reader but she would have to be too described and that is something I do not like in x Reader fics, so I’ve created the character of Padmé Solo. 🥺 Long multichapter fics exhaust me, to be honest, so I don’t plan to turn this into one, I think more of writing a series of one–shots, which would explore this character, her story and her relationship with Poe. In this one they’ve barely met after all! 🙈 I follow canon very loosely here btw!

DON’T CALL ME PRINCESS
Padmé was woken up abruptly by the sound of the door being opened. She groaned and pulled the blanket over her head but the man who had just stood above her didn’t mean to walk away so easily.
“Kylo Ren is expecting you,” he announced in a very serious and a bit irritated voice.
“Tell him to fuck off, how about that?” Padmé muttered through the blanket before revealing her face and giggling at General Hux’s expression. “Would you be brave enough to repeat that to him?”
The man clenched his jaw and didn’t say anything but his eyes were telling more than a thousand words – he despised that woman and if she hadn’t been his boss’ biological sister, he would have taught her a lesson.
Padmé rolled her eyes and stood up to stretch her arms out and yawn. She grabbed a towel and raised an eyebrow at General Hux.
“Will you be staying here while I take a shower?” she asked.
“N-no, of course not,” he swallowed thickly.
“Thought so,” she smirked and waited for him to leave before she eventually went to the bathroom.
Tumblr media
Kylo Ren was waiting for Padmé in his private quarters with his lightsaber by his side and his helmet covering his face. He hadn’t been expecting her to show up on time but he was still irritated by her delay.
“How nice of you, dear brother,” he finally heard her voice and turned around to witness her walking up to him next to General Hux. “You gave me quite a big room with my own, private bathroom,” she chuckled and looked around. “Woah, that’s much more luxurious than a good old Millenium Falcon, isn’t it?”
“Padmé,” Kylo called her name to get her attention but she kept making wide eyes at the quarters surrounding her.
“Excuse me, it’s the first time since you’ve kidnapped me when I can finally take a proper look at your ship,” she commented bitterly.
“General Hux, leave us,” Kylo ordered and the man nodded his head before walking away as fast as possible.
“Come on, Ben, take off that stupid helmet,” Padmé sighed and crossed her arms. “It’s not like you need it. Our grandfather never wanted to wear one and he hated it.”
“You know nothing of Darth Vader,” Kylo Ren’s voice was filled with frustration and anger.
“Do you still talk to his melted helmet, hoping he would show up as a Force Ghost?” she kept teasing.
“Shut up.”
“What do you want me for, Ben? Am I here so you can kill me and seal your commitment to the dark side?” she pretended to be brave about it as she crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow but her voice broke a little and that had betrayed her.
She didn’t want to die, after all. Padmé was a young woman, two years younger than her brother actually. Full of life and everything it had to offer.
Despite spending most of her life on the Millenium Falcon, visiting different worlds with her father and Chewbacca, there were still many things she hadn’t experienced and couldn’t wait for.
Like finding a place she would call home that was not an old Corellian ship. Or meeting one true love one day… maybe.
“Don’t call me Ben,” Kylo said and took out one of the lightsabers to throw it at her. She grabbed it, surprised. “You are here to be trained.”
“No,” Padmé gritted her teeth. “I didn’t agree to join Uncle Luke and I don’t agree to join you. Force is a gift I do not want. It causes more trouble than good,” she exclaimed.
She tried to throw that lightsaber away but it fit her hand almost perfectly so instead, she took a better look at it. For some odd reason, it felt like she had known it… in some different life.
“That lightsaber once belonged to a Jedi Knight named Anakin Skywalker,” Kylo informed her and Padmé’s eyes sparkled.
“I might keep that one for sentimental reasons then. I will not use it, though.”
“You will,” Kylo answered mysteriously before activating his own one.
In fact, Padmé had never held one nor fought with one. She was force sensitive but she never used any of her potential abilities, unless it was done by accident. Yes, it had saved her life a few times during her adventures on Millenium Falcon, but she never actually dreamt of becoming a Jedi or a dark side user of the Force.
What Kylo Ren had been wanting so badly – being in touch with their grandfather – she had achieved effortlessly. Anakin Skywalker’s force ghost had been by her side since she had been a child.
It was Padmé’s little secret that she was so close with her grandfather. Her parents had eventually forgiven him and Leia Organa had accepted the fact that she was a biological daughter of Anakin Skywalker but she never addressed him as her father and she never talked to him. Padmé was different. She didn’t care much about her mother’s stories about Bail Organa and she never used her second name – Breha. She hadn’t met them just as much as she hadn’t met her biological grandparents so she decided she’d rather focus on her actual ancestors.
Padmé Solo was an unusual girl. She was known by many names, actually: Padmé Organa, Padmé Organa–Solo, Padmé Skywalker, Padmé Skywalker–Organa, Padmé Skywalker–Solo and even Padmé Skywalker–Organa–Solo. She was using them all, depending on the situation, but in fact she had known she was nothing but Padmé Solo.
Her parents were rather happy that she hadn’t wanted to become a Jedi. Most of her childhood she had spent with her father, when her mother was busy with politics. And when her parents decided that they shouldn’t be together, she had left with Han and Chewie to have adventures all over the galaxy.
She loved her mother but their relationship was not an easy one. Being Leia Organa’s daughter was putting lots of expectations and bagge on Padmé’s shoulders. She was expected to be a Princess like her mother… Not one of those who would just roll their eyes and demand, no. She should be a fighter and a hero; smart and beautiful, fearless…
It was easier to be Han Solo’s daughter. Simpler.
Padmé looked down at her own hands and she witnessed the blue light activating itself. Her fists clenched around the handle as her hands trembled.
“I’m going to guide you, don’t be afraid,” she heard her grandfather’s voice and she smiled to herself.
“Why do you want to train me?” she asked her brother.
“Because you are supposed to join me.”
“Over my dead body, Ben,” she tried to turn it into a joke.
“We will see about that,” he approached her. “There is the same blood in our veins. We both love power.”
Tumblr media
Leia could feel that something hadn’t been right. She could feel the physical pain. It was the Force’s calling but also a mother’s instinct that had been telling her that her daughter could be in danger.
Therefore, when she saw Han’s ship landing at The Resistance Base on D’Quar, she felt her heart squeezing in her chest. She immediately knew that there had to be a reason for his visit… An unpleasant one.
“Han!” She greeted him but his serious expression and Chewbacca’s lowered head made her feel sick to her stomach. “Where is she? Where’s Padmé?”
“He’s taken her,” Han shook his head, feeling guilty for letting this happen. “She was kidnapped when we were on Batuu. I’m sorry…”
“We’ve already lost a son,” she whispered. “I won’t lose a daughter, too,” she added before hugging her ex-husband and patting his shoulder. “We’ll get her back. I’ll send my best pilot.”
“Am I not your best pilot?” Han smirked.
“Oh, please. Hardly.”
Tumblr media
Padmé was walking down the corridor, coming back from her brother’s private quarters. They were supposed to train together now but he had told her to go back to her room now since he had other urgent matters to take care of first.
Thanks to her rather obedient behavior those past few days, Kylo Ren allowed her to go back on her own and without General Hux’s supervision.
That behavior was of course nothing but an act – Padmé wanted to gain Kylo’s trust so she would soon be able to escape the First Order’s ship.
Her main problem was rather embarrassing – she couldn’t fly. Han Solo’s daughter had no idea how to fly ships, yes, and there were quite a few reasons behind that. Most importantly, there was no way Han Solo would ever let his daughter fly his beloved ship. They both also liked to pretend that they were not getting older at all and they still had all the time in the world for her to learn.
Thanks to that, Padmé was now left with a huge problem. She needed a pilot and in order to find one, she had to befriend some people on the ship and find out which one would be the easiest to convince to help her for money. Most of them sadly acted like they had truly been loyal at heart to the awful First Order.
Padmé was lost in her thoughts when she suddenly heard two muffled voices coming from the side of the corridor. That  was certainly unusual. She had never witnessed two stormtroopers gossipping while being on their shift.
“Can you fly a TIE Fighter?”
“I can fly anything.”
The other man laughed and Padmé stopped while furrowing her brows, standing literally a few meters away from them.
“Why? Why are you helping me?” the one who claimed to be able to fly anything asked.
“Because that’s the right thing to do.”
Short silence occurred.
“You need a pilot.”
Padmé’s heart froze in her chest at those words.
“I need a pilot,” the other one admitted.
“We’re gonna do this… but first, I have to rescue Princess Padmé.”
Padmé closed her eyes for the second, embarrassed to hear those words. It had to be her mother sending that man to help her because no one else would call her a Princess…
“Ekhem,” she interrupted both men and stood between them. They widened their eyes, absolutely terrified of her presence.
One of them was a stormtrooper with his helmet taken off and the other one had dry blood on his face and typical clothing of some scoundrel.
“Who are you?” he asked while the stormtrooper looked at him like he was crazy.
“That’s Princess Padmé. Weren’t you supposed to rescue her?” he asked, surprised.
“Oh, they haven’t told me what she looked like,” the pilot looked at Padmé up and down while biting on his lower lip. “So, we don’t have to break in anywhere, you’re already here, marvelous. Now we can escape.”
“Not so fast. You were sent to rescue me?” Padmé raised an eyebrow.
“Yes.”
“Why would I believe you?”
“Why not?” he teased and she huffed. “Listen, we don’t have much time.”
“Why would my mother send a pilot like you to rescue me?” Padmé crossed her arms.
“I’m the best pilot in the galaxy!” he exclaimed, his pride visibly offended.
“My father is the best pilot in the galaxy. You’re some scoundrel who got himself arrested during the mission.”
“We really don’t have much time,” the stormtrooper nearly begged.
“And why would we trust you, huh?” she laid her eyes on him.
“Can we just…” the pilot lowered his voice at the sound of people coming their way. “We need a plan.”
“I have a plan,” the stormtrooper put his helmet on. “You’ll pretend to be my prisoner.”
“What about the Princess?” the pilot pointed his finger at her.
“Don’t call me that.”
“Well, she might be a problem,” the stormtrooper admitted.
“Just leave me here and tell my mother to send a better pilot to save me,” Padmé teased.
“No way, you’re leaving with us right now,” the pilot didn’t want to hear any of this.
“I have an idea,” Padmé looked around and noticed a lone stormtrooper approaching them.
Perhaps it had been a terrible idea but she didn’t think twice. She grabbed her grandfather’s lightsaber and activated it before pressing it to the surprised stormtrooper’s chin.
“Wh-what’s going on?”
“Give me your clothes.”
Tumblr media
They were walking through the hangar and now, when they were surrounded by so many people, Padmé started to feel what a terrible idea it had truly been. The stormtrooper's clothes were too big for her and she felt everyone’s eyes on her. The way she walked was simply funny and hard not to notice.
Not to mention the actual stormtrooper being locked in one of the rooms on the ship. Soon he’d be found and tell the authorities about everything, which would lead to the failure of Padmé’s plan.
“Okay, stay calm, stay calm,” the stormtrooper that had been working with her kept repeating under his breath while pressing the gun to the pilot’s head. Padmé was just walking next to him and feeling how sweaty her hands were becoming.
“I am calm,” the pilot gritted through his teeth.
“I’m talking to myself,” the stormtrooper admitted.
“How consoling,” Padmé muttered.
“Okay, go. This way,” the stormtrooper patted their shoulders and led them to one of the TIE Fighters.
“Which one of you will be my co-pilot?” the pilot asked. “Princess?”
“Don’t call me that and no,” she hissed at him after taking off her helmet.
“A daughter of the best pilot in the galaxy and she cannot fly?” he asked, both surprised and amused.
“If I could fly, smartass, I wouldn’t need your help with getting out of here.”
“Okay, okay, I can try,” the stormtrooper pushed them both inside the TIE Fighter.
Another problem was that it certainly hadn’t been built for three people, especially when two of them were wearing big white armors.
Padmé was squeezed between them two, half standing and half crouching, grumpy and terrified.
“We are so going to die here,” she sighed.
“I’ve always wanted to fly one of these things,” the pilot admitted while taking his jacket off.
“You joined the wrong side then,” Padmé sighed.
“Can you shoot?” he asked the stormtrooper who was taking his helmet off.
“Blasters, I can.”
“Okay, same principle,” the pilot nodded while pushing buttons to get the ship ready to start. “Use a toggle on the left to switch between missiles, cannons and mag pulse. Use the sight on the right to aim. Triggers to fire.”
“This is very complicated…”
“Is there anything I can do?” Padmé asked.
“Just stay silent,” the pilot smirked at her and she didn’t even fight him at that moment, absolutely convinced she would soon die.
Perhaps staying on that bloody ship with her brother hadn’t been that bad of an idea but it was too late for going back now.
The ship was just about to leave the docking bay when something blocked its movement and a loud clanking sign made them all realize that all this time the TIE Fighter had been anchored with the wire.
“Excellent,” Padmé hid her face in her hands, trying to calm her down while taking deep breaths in.
She had heard stories about her mother during the war. Leia Organa had been strong and brave. She would never crouch down on the ship’s floor and hide her face in her hands. Neither would Han Solo or the real Padmé – Padmé Amidala.
But Padmé Solo was her own self and she was absolutely terrified.
“I can fix this!” The pilot exclaimed and the sounds of blasters surrounded them. The stormtroopers at the hangar were trying to stop them but the one helping Padmé finally began shooting at them.
She shut her eyes close and tried to focus on the Force around her. She had never been trained to be able to influence it but she hoped that her fear and desperation would somehow save their lives.
“I got it!” The pilot eventually got rid of the cable and the TIE Fighter lef the hangar. “Woah, this thing really moves!”
Padmé straightened her back to see with her own eyes that they were finally in outer space but her smile didn’t last for long. Of course no one would let them escape so easily and the First Order was shooting at them.
“Okay, we gotta take out as many of these cannons as we can or we're not gonna get very far,” the pilot ordered.
“Alright,” the stormtrooper nodded.
“I’m gonna get us in position, just stay sharp.”
Padmé put her hands on the pilot’s seat and squeezed them to keep in balance. She was the only one who didn’t have any seat belts or anything really to protect her from the upcoming turbulence.
“Better put that helmet back on, Princess,” the pilot pointed at the abandoned stormtrooper’s helmet on the floor.
She nodded and put it back on before clinging to his seat once again like her life depended on it… Well, because it actually did.
“Up ahead! Up ahead! You see it? I got us dead center, it’s a clean shot.”
“Okay, got it.”
The stormtrooper blew up the cannons and all three of them began to cheer and scream to celebrate the victory.
“Did you see that?! Did you see that?!”
“I saw it!”
“Good job!” Padmé took her helmet off once again with a wide smile.
“Hey, what’s your name?” the pilot asked the stormtrooper.
“FN–2187!”
“F… What?!”
“That’s the only name they ever gave me.”
The pilot and Padmé looked at each other meaningfully. They weren’t fond of each other – in fact, they were pretty sure they would never end up as friends – but they were both coming from a different world. A world where children had mothers and fathers, normal names and the First Order was something to fight instead of serve.
“Well, I ain’t using it,” the pilot decided. “F–N, huh?”
“Finn,” Padmé proposed.
“Yes, Finn. We’re gonna call you Finn, is that alright?” the pilot asked.
“Finn… Yeah, I like that!” he nodded.
“I’m Poe. Poe Dameron,” the pilot finally introduced himself.
“Good to meet you, Poe.”
“Good to meet you, Finn.”
“Ekhem,” Padmé interrupted them both.
“Well, you don’t need to introduce yourself, do you?” Poe looked up at her.
“Nice to meet you, too, Dameron,” she hissed and then her eyes widened at the sight of the huge blue missiles chasing their TIE Fighter.
“One’s coming towards you!” Poe screamed at Finn. “My right, your left! Do you see it?”
“Hold on…! I see him!”
A few shoots later one of the missiles was gone.
“Nice shot!” Poe exclaimed and proceeded to lower the ship.
“Where are we going?” Finn asked.
“We’re going back to Jakku, that’s where.”
“What?!” Padmé squealed at that.
“We can’t go back to Jakku! We need to get out of this system!” Finn insisted.
“We need to get to the Resistance Base as soon as possible, Dameron!” Padmé joined him.
“I gotta get my droid before the First Order does,” Poe informed them, determined to land on Jakku.
“What, a droid?!” Finn asked.
“I can’t believe that! Your job is to rescue the Princess, not some droid!” Padmé screamed at him.
“So you’re a Princess now, huh?” Poe snorted. “He’s a BB unit, orange and white. One of a kind.”
“Guess who else is one of a kind? I am!” Padmé tried to push him away like she knew how to fly. Dameron pushed her away angrily.
“We gotta get as far away from the First Order as we can!” Finn yelled at them. “We go back to Jakku, we die!”
“That droid has a map that leads straight to Luke Skywalker,” Poe revealed and looked deep into Padmé’s eyes, searching for some sort of understanding.
“I couldn’t care less about Luke…” she started, still holding his arms in order to continue pushing him away.
And that was when the ship got hit.
Tumblr media
“Princess,” Padmé was woken up abruptly by the sound of the familiar, irritating voice of Poe Dameron.
She hoped it had been all a bad dream and that she’d wake up on the Millenium Falcon… But no, when she opened her eyes, she saw the Resistance’s pilot face – worried, bruised and bloody.
It was dark and incredibly cold. They were in the middle of Jakku's desert.
“You’re alive,” he sighed with relief.
“My mother would have your head off if I wasn’t,” Padmé sat up and coughed a little. “What happened?”
“The plane crashed but our bodies got thrown out of the cockpit.
“Where’s Finn?”
“I don’t know. I think he stayed inside the ship...”
“And why did we crash, remind me? Oh, because you wanted to save some stupid droid!” Padmé rolled her eyes and stood up to start taking off the parts of the damaged stormtrooper’s armor she had been wearing.
“That armor might be useful,” Poe pointed out.
“Then wear it yourself. It’s going to fit you more than me anyway.”
“Clothes exchange?” he proposed but Padmé looked at him up and down with her lips pressed to a thin line.
“No, I don’t think so,” she abandoned the last piece of the armor on the sand and put her hands on her hips. “So, smartass, do you have a plan to get us out of here?”
“I have one idea, Princess,” he teased ironically and she raised an eyebrow. “You stay out of the way and do what I say.”
“I may not be as brave as my mother, Dameron, but I am as annoying as her. Don’t count on that.”
“Then we’re doomed.”
“I know. I also would like a much more pleasant company to die with but here we are,” Padmé shrugged her arms with a smirk. “And oh, by the way, I have this,” she took out her lightsaber and showed it to him.
“And you know how to use it?” he asked, suspiciously.
“Not really but I do know how to cut a throat with it. It runs in my blood, you see,” she hid the lightsaber back again.
Poe raised his eyebrows and sighed before putting his hands on his hips. He had to keep reminding himself that this annoying, awful woman was Leia’s daughter and his job was to take her back to her mother safely.
