Context: Satine’s coronation to become Duchess of Mandalore, right after the Year On The Run.
I wanted her coronation dress to be very wedding-dress-like, as she’s in many ways marrying herself to Mandalore and her new duties. And of course, for extra angst, Obi-Wan is the one walking her out and handing her off. But it’s also not Obitine without some cute banter, so here you go (:

Start Before the Beginning- Open-Circle AU Episode 1
(Repost from my retired blog. Link is to my Ao3) In a way, he supposed his plan worked.  Here he was, fourteen-year-old Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padawan Learner to Qui-Gon Jinn.  The boy didn’t know a Jedi could be so connected to the Living Force. He could only hope to pick up such skills from his Master in their time together.  Perhaps because of this connection, Master Jinn never did speak to him like he was still a youngling.  He took great pride in this, at first.  A brand-new apprentice, but his Master recognized his potential and trusted him with responsibility normally reserved for the more seasoned Padawan learners.

NGL at this point I feel like "New Mandalorian" is just. City folk?? Cities and suburbs.
And most trad Mandos are small town people.
Clans like the Wrens are The Big House On The Hill for those small towns
(This joke breaks down if I start in on my overly enthusiastic breakdowns of how Mandalorian agriculture and rural economics benefit from New Mandalorian policy.)

As predicted, it was the Nightmother herself on my trail. She is not one to give up the hunt easily it seems. Whatever treasures the stone leads to or does not must be worth the effort of coming here through the dangerous but expedient paths of the spirit realm. There is no other way she could have arrived in such a timely manner.
One moment I was fighting off intangible spiders-like creatures that could not be cut with my lightsaber, but were indeed susceptible to the force... the next, Talzin appeared and began laying waste to the creatures with luminous orbs that crackled as they flew.
I did not need her help, and she was obnoxiously smug about giving it. When I growled at her over it, she laughed like I had told a fine joke, and complemented my strength. As if I care what a nightsister -any nightsister- thinks of me. I said as much and her smile became saccharine. The woman begs to be strangled.

@satineweek 2022! Day 5: Alternate Timeline (+ Vow)
In the stillness of night during their year on the run, Satine and Obi-Wan dare to imagine a life without the responsibilities they've sworn themselves to.
-.-.-
This wasn't at all what I thought I'd write for this day's wombo combo of prompts, but it turned out way better than anything I'd been planning :')
I took a somewhat unconventional approach to the alternate timeline prompt, but it turned out suuuper fluffy and also a little depressing. What more would you expect from Satine and Obi-Wan? Anyway, enjoy!
-.-.-
“And all this could be such a dream, so it seems I was never much good at goodbye.”
Night Ranger
-.-.-
“Ben?”
Her voice was a whisper, barely audible amidst the gentle sounds of nature that surrounded them. Frogs croaked in a nearby pond, and all sorts of nocturnal animals sounded in the distance. The noises were somewhat comforting in their repetition, she thought. The leaves of the trees rustled above them, and Satine watched as sparks from their campfire floated up to join the stars. On the other side of the fire lay Qui-Gon, snoring softly as he always did.
Obi-Wan hummed from his place beside her, letting her know that he was awake, and that he’d heard her. He’d taken to sleeping in close proximity to her, for purely protective reasons of course. At least, that’s what he’d told Qui-Gon when asked about it. It had nothing to do with wanting to be near her, surely.
“Can you sleep?” Satine finally asked, sighing in slight frustration.
The padawan was silent a moment more, then answered, “No, you?”
“No.”
The truth was, Satine would be home on Mandalore by the end of the week, and she was terrified. The end had come so suddenly, and though she thought she’d be relieved, it turned out that nothing could have prepared her for the news she’d received from her planet. She wasn’t ready to go home, not yet.
She closed her eyes, soaking in the stillness of this place. Soon she would be back to the hectic pace of palace life, and the stresses that came with her title. These might very well be the last few days of peace she’d ever enjoy, and that thought filled her with a deep melancholy that kept her lying awake at night.
“Do you ever think about what your life would be like if you weren’t a Jedi?” she murmured, the suddenness of the question catching Obi-Wan off guard. She could hear how his breath caught in his throat, that gentle rhythm she relied on so heavily interrupted as he considered her words.
“Not often,” he answered. Then, “Why do you ask?”
Satine shook her head, though she knew he couldn’t see her. His gaze, like hers, was fixed on the sky up above, where an occasional shooting star would streak across the dark expanse. It was beautiful.
“No reason,” she responded, but even as she said it, she knew he wouldn’t buy it. “Just thinking about the things I’d do if I weren’t a duchess, is all.”
Obi-Wan’s steady breathing returned, and Satine adjusted her position on the lush grassy patch of land she’d chosen as her bed.
“I suppose I’d have been raised at home with my family, whoever they are,” he said pensively.
It filled her with sadness, to hear him speak of concepts as fundamental as family and love with such detachment. To have grown up without knowledge of such things was simply cruel, but that was just her opinion. For him, it was all he’d ever known.
Still, she could sense the slightest undercurrent of yearning in his words. He hid it well, but not from her. Deep down, there was something missing in Obi-Wan that he knew belonged to his family. And it would remain missing, no matter how fulfilling his life as a Jedi became.
“Would you have been happy?” she asked, honestly wondering. His life was so different from hers, that much of it was still a mystery. She was learning to understand how his mind worked, and it deeply intrigued her.
“I’m sure I would have,” he said in response. “Maybe I’d be a farmer, like my father was. At least I think that’s what he was. Most people on Stewjon are.”
He fell quiet again, and Satine pondered his answer. A short distance away, something splashed in the pond, disturbing its glassy surface for just a moment before it stilled once more.
“What about now?” she questioned, rolling on her side to face him. “If you weren’t a Jedi, where would you go now?”
He turned his head to meet her gaze, brows scrunched slightly in a silent question.
“Why are you asking all this Satine?” His voice was serious as he searched her eyes for answers. She swallowed, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes.
“I’m not ready to say goodbye,” she admitted, her words thick with emotion. “I know we’ve talked about this, but there has to be another way, I—I can’t—"
“I know,” he said, rolling over and grasping her hand. She held it tight like a lifeline, closing her eyes against the shame she felt at her weakness. “Satine—"
“Just… tell me what you’d do... if you could leave,” she begged, blinking as a few tears began to fall. She knew it wasn’t possible, but she wanted to pretend, just for a while. “Please.”
He surveyed her face with a deep frown. She felt his thumb brush over the back of her hand soothingly until finally, he nodded, moving his other hand to gently wipe away a tear.
“Alright. I’d run a bookshop,” he confessed, his mouth quirking into a half smile.
Satine let out some kind of cross between a laugh and a sob, covering her mouth with her hand. “A bookshop?” she clarified, “like with actual books?”
Obi-Wan squeezed her hand and squinted his eyes at her in feigned indignation. “Don’t laugh. You asked the question.” His gaze softened once more, and he continued. “I’d collect old books too, ones about art and history and religion. And I’d drink a lot of tea.”
Satine smiled tearfully. “You already do that, my dear,” she teased.
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, shaking his head at her (very truthful) accusation. “Oh, alright. What would you do, then, your highness?”
She thought for a moment. “Well, I’d go back home to Kalevala,” she answered, “That, or I’d travel the galaxy. There are so many places I’d love to see, if I weren’t so stuck on Mandalore.”
Obi-Wan raised his eyebrows, and she could see that glimmer in his eye that he always got when he was about to tease her. “Sounds awfully dangerous. Who would you get to show you around all these places?”
She nudged him, knowing exactly what game he was playing, and she couldn’t help but play along. “I imagine I’d find some handsome guide to keep me safe,” she mused, “Someone tall, and strong, with no braid coming down from behind his ear—”
“Hey!”
Satine giggled at his offended exclamation, shushing him so he wouldn’t wake Qui-Gon. Grinning, Obi-Wan lifted himself onto one elbow, glancing over Satine’s shoulder to check that his master was still asleep. Satisfied that he was, he laid back down, looking at Satine with a fondness that was reserved only for her.
“And you wouldn’t get tired of traveling all over the galaxy all the time?” he asked next, prompting her to continue with this fanciful idea.
She shook her head. “Oh, no. We’d eventually settle down, of course.”
Obi-Wan leaned forward, his eyes wide with embellished interest. “Ooh, where?”
“Anywhere,” she answered simply. “Somewhere quiet and peaceful, like here.”
Obi-Wan glanced around at the scenery, nodding his approval. “Good choice. This is the nicest of planets that we’ve been to. No venomite incidents as of yet.”
Satine hummed in agreement. “Maybe we’d build a house. That is, my guide would build it, and I’d tell him where everything should go.”
“Goodness, sounds like you’ll be putting him to work,” Obi-Wan responded.
She gave a smug nod.
“Well, where would my bookshop go?”
Satine’s jaw dropped open in an exaggerated gasp. “You presume to be my guide?”
Obi-Wan laughed. “Who else, my dear?” he said with a smile as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Tapping her finger against her chin in thought, Satine said, “I believe I specified that my chosen partner would not have the type of braid you so horrendously wear.”
“Alright, it’s gone,” he said with a swipe of his hand.
“Wonderful.”
“I do resent the word ‘horrendous’ though, Satine, I’m gonna remember you said that.”
She chuckled. “You know I’m right.”
Silence passed over them again, and they both returned to laying on their backs, scooting just a little closer to each other.
Obi-Wan’s hand didn’t let go of hers.
“You could have a small library, in our house,” Satine said quietly after a while, the teasing tone from earlier now completely gone. Her heart hammered in her chest as she waited to see if he’d respond.
“I’d like that.”
She smiled, swallowing past a lump in her throat.
“We’d have quite the collection of tea, between you and I.”
Obi-Wan hummed in amusement. “Your taste for it rivals mine, darling. It would take up one entire cabinet in the kitchen at least.”
This fantasy filled Satine with such warmth, she wished she could transport herself there now and never return. Was it delusional for her to continue on with this dream she’d constructed? She found she didn’t care. It was far better than dwelling on the dwindling time she had with him, as she’d been doing before.
“I think I’d like to be a teacher,” she announced, thinking very seriously about her options. “I’ve always enjoyed being around children, and it would be an honor to impart on them the lessons that would carry them throughout their lives.”
Obi-Wan squeezed her hand again gently. “You’d be marvelous at it,” he reassured her sincerely. “There’s a village down the road a little ways. I’m sure there are plenty of young ones there who would absolutely adore you.”
Satine drew in a shuddering breath. This was sounding more and more like a plan for the future rather than a dream, and it filled her with foolish hope that she knew would only make it hurt worse later.
It was too late to stop that now.
“When I come home from work, I would call out to you in your library and let you know that I’d returned,” she spoke assuredly.
“And I would come and greet you with a kiss,” Obi-Wan dared to add, knocking the air out of Satine’s chest. Her hand instinctively gripped his tighter.
For several moments, she couldn’t speak. Tears trailed down each side of her face, landing in the thick green grass below her. “I’d really like that,” she managed finally, her voice wavering as she stared determinedly at a fixed point above her.
Minutes passed as they lay there, listening to the crackling fire and gentle rustling of the willow branches. Satine allowed her eyes to fall shut, submitting to the silent sobs that wracked her body. It was too much, this dream of theirs. She wished with all her heart it could be true, would give anything to make it so.
After a while, Obi-Wan took a breath and spoke.
“And if I asked you to marry me?”
An audible sob escaped her, and before she could even move to cover her mouth with her hand, he had enveloped her in his arms to cradle her against his shoulder, rocking her back and forth. She clung to him tightly, taking comfort in the feel of his hand supporting her back and the other tangled in the hair at the base of her neck.
“Shh, Satine, I’m sorry,” Obi-Wan murmured into her hair, repeating his apology over and over. Satine shook her head against his shoulder. He shouldn’t be sorry.
“No, it’s alright,” she said through her tears, unable to control the volume of her voice. She allowed his touch to calm her as she gathered herself together enough to respond. It took several minutes for her to even out her breathing, pulling back from him enough to meet his eyes. “If you… asked me,” she spoke, cupping his cheek in her hand, “I would vow to all the moons and stars in the galaxy that my heart would forever be yours.”
Her words washed over Obi-Wan and he drew in a breath, eyes turning glassy as he gazed at her with pure, unfiltered love. All he could manage was a shaky nod before he pulled her back into his arms, pressing a kiss to her head.
“I’ll stay with you,” he vowed, clutching her tightly to his chest. She could feel the wetness from his tears as they soaked into her hair.
Nonetheless, she shook her head.
Their dream was gone, now they were back to their reality. He would have to leave, and she would stay. That was the way it was always going to be.
“You know I love you,” she spoke, and she felt him nod in response.
His voice cracked. “I love you too,” he said, those forbidden words sending a spike of pain straight through her heart.
They would have to say goodbye, that was just the way it was. But they had each other now, and Qui-Gon wouldn’t say a word when he woke in the morning and found them tangled together in each other’s arms, tear stains on their cheeks.
Their dream would remain just that, but their vows were real.
Despite the distance that separated them, their hearts would continue on beating, and they’d love each other from afar.
-.-.-
Satine and Obi-Wan really wrote their own AU here, huh? *sobs*
Thanks for reading!

He hadn’t planned on coming to Master Qui-Gon’s quarters - hadn’t planned on going anywhere, not when he wasn’t used to everything yet - but a part of the force was telling him to go to Qui-Gon instead - everything was still so new and he found himself, not for the first time, afraid of the unknown - so he had reached out for his new Master .... because he still wasn’t free...not --
But Qui-Gon offering the comfort of an adult - a parent - especially after the nightmare he had had, and no Mom to help calm him down, Anakin found himself carefully going into the bed and curling as small as he could next to Qui-Gon. “Thank you,” he whispers, body tense as he tries to fall back to sleep, the force ringing out with his fears.

yooooo, i just noticed something!
remember how maul had fucked up veins on lotho minor?
Tumblr media
aaand remember how talzin showed savage an image of his brother in her magical orb?
Tumblr media
yeah? look closely at the orb-o-vision:
Tumblr media
well that's odd, i don't see any fucked up veins, do you?
Tumblr media
none here either.
well. my only conclusion is that talzin had somehow gotten pictures of maul when he was a teenager/pre-tpm, and kept them all this time on her orb. either that, or she went and found him as an adult, well enough to get a look and create a memory herself to later pass on (like she did with the vision of baby asajj.) that's like a 19-20 year old maul.
innnnteresting. we know she uses and abuses her sons on her quest for power, but maybe there's not *zero* sentiment there? even before the comic book events. 👀

attention. | yan! darth maul
soft yandere! au
fem! reader
synopsis. after months of ignoring your captor, you grow curious about his his species and discover that attention makes him purr, not growl.
fluffy! pre-tpm! maul, zabrak purring, manipulative reader, reader is smart but kinda dumb lmao, reader has accepted his tendencies, reader doesn’t know much about sith/jedi. ALL CONTENT ON MY BLOG IS FICTIONAL.
WARNING(s): obsessive tendencies, possessive behavior, mentions of kidnapping, manipulative reader, stockholm syndrome, suggestive content, maul uses mind tricks on reader at one point, maul is constantly reading reader’s mind
Tumblr media
You didn’t know much about Zabraks in general, but you did know a lot about Maul. You knew he was moody and aggressive, mostly with others rather than yourself. You know that he likes eating with you, often refusing meals unless you were there to join him. You know that he is a Sith Lord, with a master who doesn’t like you. But most importantly, you know that Maul is possessive.
Maul’s possessiveness was the most prevalent part of his personality, at least from your point of view. It was the very reason you’re here, locked away in his room on a massive ship in the middle of space, far from your home on Naboo. Currently, he was busy training with his master while you were forced to wait for him. His master didn’t come around so often anymore; you didn’t know why his visits have become less frequent, but you were relieved by the fact. The Sith unsettled you for more reasons than his wicked nature; he made his dislike for you clear. You’re sure the only reason he let Maul keep you at all is because of the strong emotions you disrupt in the zabrak.
You aren’t entirely certain what the Dathomirian feels for you, but you’re clever enough to know it’s something akin to obsession. He’d kidnapped you; stole you from Naboo as you were returning from the late-night market. He’d never explained to you why he took you, why he was there on Naboo, or if he had ever stalked you beforehand. He prefers to leave you ignorant to most things, perhaps only because he dislikes talking.
Maul wasn’t a great communicator by any means, especially when he’d first brought you to the ship, but you realized at some point that verbal communication was his primary issue. Physically, he was very clear in what he wanted, whether he had to drag you around, pick you up and place you where he wanted, or even growl at you.
Back when you’d first arrived, the idea of sharing a bed with him rightfully scared you. The first few days spent with him, you sat in the corner of his room, cowering and refusing to move unless you needed the bathroom. He didn’t say much to you, but his annoyance at your rejection was obvious enough. He would sit on the edge of the bed glaring at you for many minutes until he eventually stripped his shirt off and laid down, his back to you. That was a short-lived phase: after four nights of this, he finally went over to you, plucked you from your spot on the ground and threw you onto his bed. Maul was an intimidating figure, in more ways than one, so you were too scared to try and escape him. He forcefully pushed you under the covers before crawling into bed himself, next to you. He kept his distance, and eventually you relaxed; you didn’t realize how soft his bed was. But the moment your eyes closed, Maul released a deep, odd sounding growl that immediately jolted you out of your relaxed state. He didn’t growl again that night, but you still didn’t sleep much.
Recently you’ve noticed that his growling has become more frequent, and you assumed he just didn’t like being bothered. You’ve lost most of your fear of him; it’s become increasingly obvious that he had no intention of hurting you. And honestly, you’re learning to accept your role with him. But the growling bothers you; it’s confusing. If he liked you enough to kidnap you from your home planet, then why does he growl at you?
Often, he brings you along to watch him train, but only when he’s alone. You sit on the ground with nothing to entertain yourself as he shows off his fighting skills, throwing and manipulating his lightsaber with impressive ease. You haven’t told him yet, but you’ve learned to admire his beauty; the tattoos covering his red skin were oddly charming and you catch yourself wanting to trace your fingers over them. For many months, you’d widely tried to ignore his presence the best you could, but it was getting exhausting. He wasn’t wearing a shirt at the moment, most likely to draw a reaction from you, and you now really take the chance to look at the dark patterns.
Pretty, you thought affectionately, watching as Maul froze in place.
He shut his lightsaber off, a short, quiet growl leaving him. Turning your way, he dropped the saber hilt before extending his hand your way.
“Come here.” He spoke sternly, and you perked up with a smirk.
“What, do you want me to beat you up?” You asked, guessing that he was inviting you to spar with him.
Your confidence was a bit false and he likely knew it. You were stiff from hearing his growl, but you weren’t fearful. You knew he wouldn’t harm you, but you knew he easily could if he so desired. You weren’t a Jedi before all this; just a normal Naboo citizen who occasionally helped assist at the palace. You couldn’t fight like Maul could, he’d knock you down in seconds.
He huffed, pushing a quick breath out of his nose at your teasing, “Show me.”
You furrowed your brows, tilting your head at his words. You weren’t sure what he was asking for.
He stepped forward, pulling you by your wrists further into the center of the room, “How you would fight me, My Star. Beat me up.” He mocked, a small grin gracing his harsh features.
Frankly, you weren’t interested in sparring with Maul. Not only were you sure to lose, but you weren’t dressed for such physical activity either. Maul provided you with clothing, as you obviously didn’t get the chance to pack. Most of your wardrobe consisted of thin dresses of various colors, primarily black, red, or white. Currently, the dress you wore was a silk, off-white piece that only went to your knees. Like most of them, it was quite revealing, a wide slit going up your thigh and two thin straps rather than sleeves. You weren’t stupid, you knew you could get out of this situation.
“Maul,” you pouted, looking down at your bare feet and stepping closer to him.
The Zabrak before you was much bigger; he wasn’t incredibly tall, but he was very broad and well-built. You’d never touched him, not really and definitely not on purpose. You’ve had accidents where you’d stumbled into him or rolled over to his side of bed at night, but his growls always spooked you away.
“I don’t want to fight you, you’ll just win. Can’t we do something else?” You asked gently, fiddling with your hands and refusing to look up at him.
His breath had picked up, you noticed. It was kind of endearing, the obvious way you effected him. You felt a little bad for messing with him like this, but at the end of the day, he did kidnap you and deserved a little karma for his sins.
He didn’t speak, just observed as you reached up and placed your hand on his shoulders.
You finally looked up into his yellow eyes, your wrists sitting gently on his red and black skin. The growls erupted in his chest instantly, causing you to flinch slightly but not move your hands. Neither of you said a word but you could see his pupils were blown wide, hinting at his attraction towards you. You were a bit taken aback and quickly averted your eyes up, looking at his horns. Does… he growl when he likes something?
“I want a book.” You whispered, “Could you get me one?”
“Yes.” Maul answered quickly, his voice a bit raspy.
“I want a book on Dathomirian Zabraks. I want to know more about them.” His strange growl grew louder at that, “For educational purposes, of course.”
“I’ll get you your book.” He confirmed.
That was two weeks ago, and he had stayed true to his promise. In fact, he’d gotten you a few books on Dathomirian Zabraks. It’s what you were currently reading as you waited for him to finish his training session with his master.
You were reading one of the three books, the one about anatomy. You remembered when you first met him, you assumed the patterns on his skin were a feature of his species, but he eventually told you they were tattoos he received as a child due to his culture. The book explained the variety of skin colors his species could have, and how they had two hearts. It was all quite interesting; you already felt as if you had a better understanding of Maul.
Just as you reached the chapter about their horns, the lock on the door fiddled and Maul soon entered the large bedroom. You sunk into your spot on the bed and peaked over the book to look at him. Per usual, he glanced at you before heading off to the shower without a word. Not much changed since you’d touched him during his training, and you haven’t tried anything since. It would be a good 15 to 20 minutes until his return, so you quickly delve back into your book.
To be honest, you’d never thought much about Maul’s horns. Rather, you just kind of accepted them and moved on. Horns were a pretty common characteristic in the universe, they weren’t the part of maul that stood out most. His most striking feature was his skin, and you’d already gotten to the bottom of that.
By the time Maul got out of the shower, you were high on curiosity.
“Maul!” You called for him as soon as he opened the bathroom door. You were looking excited, a sight he’s never been blessed with before now, sitting on your knees as the edge of the bed with the book in your hand.
“Yes, My Light?” He asked, eyes focused on your expression as he threw his black robe down the dirty-clothes shute. He was only in his loose black pants at the moment, ready for bed.
“Your horns! They grow!” You told him excitedly as if he didn’t know.
“They do.” He smiled, standing directly in front of your spot on the bed.
“I’ve never seen them any longer than what you have them.”
“I file them down, My Star.” He told you gently, slowly reaching his red and black hand down to stroke your hair.
“When?” You’d certainly never seen him do it, and you’ve been with him for nearly 7 months.
“Hm, they don’t grow as fast as you may think. I file them every few months.” He sounded breathless, your hair curled around his fingers.
“Can I do it?” You asked sweetly, knowing he’d say yes.
Poor you, you had no idea he could feel your thoughts. He always could and he was always listening. You weren’t educated on Sith or Jedi, how could you have known? You’re clueless; you think you’re clever. He lets you think you have the upper-hand, because maybe you do. He gives you anything you want, he’d do anything for you as long as you’re his. He’s obsessed with you, he loves you, you’re all he thinks about, you’re all he wants.
“Yes.” He tells you, and motions towards his bedside table where the metal file sits inside.
You crawl across the bed, letting go of your book and retrieving the file. Maul watches you diligently, moving to sit cross-legged on the bed, facing you when you return. You don’t say anything about his position, rather you adjust yourself to sit on your knees and quickly get to work filing his horns. You work a little clumsily, but he doesn’t mind.
The growls start up immediately, and you can feel the vibrations all the way up at his horns. Since the training incident, you’ve learned not to mind them. Your working theory is ‘happy-growls’, but you have to wait until you get to the Dathomirian Zabrak: Behavior and Culture book to find out. The sound is alarming, it’s similar to the growl of a loth-wolf, maybe a bit softer? You don’t want to ask him; you’re not sure about letting him know you’re interested. After all, he did kidnap you. At the end of the day he’ll always be your captor. The growing fondness you have for him is wrong.
Lost in your conflicted thoughts, you didn’t notice his growling stop. At least not until his hands grip your waist, shocking you out of your trance. His eyes bore into yours and you begin to wonder about his eye color. It’s unique and even a bit attractive. If you had kids, would they inherit his eyes?
Maul released your waist in favor of pulling your face down to his, pressing his lips to yours in a desperate fashion.
He feels like he’s on a high; he always feels this way when he’s near you, but it’s stronger this time. Better. You were imagining kids with him. Bearing his children, and wondering if they’d resemble him. Of course, you didn’t know he wasn’t born with these eyes; they were a result of his Sith status. It’s okay, he would teach you about it in the future.
This was the first kiss between the two of you, and the most physical that things have ever gotten. You were buzzing. You wanted nothing to do with him just a month ago, but the loneliness had caught up with you, you suppose. So many thoughts were filling your head, thoughts you didn’t feel were your own. Different scenes flashed before your eyes; maul kissing you, dancing with you, getting married to him, having his children.
You gasped at the images, jerking back from the red Zabrak. The growling was louder than you’d ever heard it, and his arms were strong around your midsection. You never noticed the change in position, you were now seated in his lap with your arms around his neck.
“What was that?” You whispered, breathless and confused. You felt as if you were going to cry.
“Shh, it was nothing, my Lady.” Maul cooed, the tone sounding odd with his deep voice, “Let’s rest.”
You found yourself nodding along to whatever he said, allowing him to move you wherever he wanted. Soon you were drifting off to sleep with Maul’s chest rumbling behind you.
•.
Maul had been a bit more affectionate lately, and the growls have increased in frequency. You haven’t kissed again since the night you’d filed his horns, and to be honest, you’ve been avoiding him best you could in favor of reading your books. You felt guilty. Guilt towards your loved ones who you were stolen from. Were you actually enjoying your time with your captor?
It was the middle of the night, Maul was sleeping beside you in bed. You were still up, reading your book about zabrak behavior. This book didn’t have as many pictures as the last, but you didn’t mind; you were too focused on getting to the bottom of his growling.
Skimming through the chapter on aggression, you were confused. Although it briefly mentioned growling, the sound and motives it described didn’t match your experiences with Maul. In no way was he threatened or physically aggressive.
But when you turned the page, reaching the 11th chapter happiness and pleasure, suddenly it all made sense…
You sat up quickly, tossing your book to the ground. The sound must’ve woken Maul, because he was all too ready to catch you when you jumped onto him, straddling his midsection above the blankets.
The familiar sound starts up; he’s not growling, he’s purring.
As far as you knew, only animals could purr, you weren’t aware of any humanoid creatures having that ability. It never even occurred to you of that being a possibility, how could you have been so dumb? Happy growls? That’s what purring is, practically!
“You purr?! You’re purring at me?!”
Maul’s purrs quiet down a bit and he looks awkward. Expressionless. Like he’s not used to be confronted, which he definitely isn’t.
“No, no no! Keep going!” You slap his chest lightly, demanding more purrs. You don’t really know if it’s voluntary, you didn’t read that far.
He huffs at that, but his purrs go back up in volume and you can’t help but laugh. You feel like an idiot, you probably are, and here he is doing whatever you say. The big bad Maul, evil Sith Lord, obeying you at every request.
He almost wants to tell you he can hear your thoughts, that you’re being a bit too arrogant at the moment, but he decides that would ruin the moment. It would also likely destroy all the progress he’s made. So he stays quiet, letting his relaxed and satisfied purring talk for him.
He’s never been the best at verbal communication and he’s glad that you know.

hiya! long time listener, first time caller-- I'm writing a couple fics with Jedi protagonists (Shaak Ti, Mace, other Prequel Jedi) which is really fun so far except for the part where I "majored in" (read: hyperfixated on) Organization and Tactics of the GAR and don't actually know that much about the Jedi as individuals, *especially* anything that happened before TPM.
I was wondering if you know of any resources that organize/compile information about that era of Jedi? Things like lineage lists, who was on the Council when, typical schedules/roles/responsibilities, that kinda thing. Resources can be any format; other Tumblr blogs, articles, images, discord servers, archived websites, whatever works! Even the obvious stuff can be helpful (outside of Wookiepedia), since this isn't a part of fandom I've walked through much. You're the only big-name Jedi blog I know.
(If you don't have the spoons to respond, I understand, thanks for reading anyway!)
Hi! Congrats on writing your fic, I'm wishing you all the luck in the world! And here's where my brain starts spinning in a bunch of different directions, because here's the sticky thing about Star Wars "lore": there are three separate continuities and, while you are absolutely free to mix and match as you like and should pick out all the things that interest you, no matter the continuity, they do still exist in separate realms. You have Lucas' Star Wars, you have Legends Star Wars (the Extended Universe/EU under Lucas' ownership of SW, but he has explicitly said it's a separate world from his Star Wars), and you have Disney Star Wars. There is worldbuilding in each of them (though, often very thin on the ground at times) but what's true in one isn't going to be true in another--for example, in Legends there was an age cut off for Jedi initiates at 13, if they didn't get a Master. This limit does not exist at all in Lucas' SW (is contradicted by Ahsoka at 14 being said to be YOUNG for being a Padawan) and Disney Star Wars (there's an Initiate who is 16 and doesn't have a Master and will have to wait at least another year to try again, with no hint of them aging out). You pick which works for you! Just that I think it helps to be aware of what bits come from which continuity. There's also not a ton of pre-TPM content, at least not after The High Republic! Though, I've found THR stuff generally pretty helpful for prequel-era Jedi stuff, because they act and behave 98% of the same way imo! THAT SAID, I tend to collate as much of the Lucas continuity and Disney continuity (as they're the ones I generally prefer) and I have a bunch of resources if you don't mind some homework reading! 😂 I did at least make it as easy to browse as I can, though! - Jedi Culture and Teachings in Canon - A mix of Lucas and Disney content mostly, organized by sections for hopefully easier browsing for what you're looking for! Because 75k words of citations is a lot. orz This is going to give you probably the most of what you want, because I have been working to collect all of that kind of stuff--descriptions of the Temple and personal quarters, any rituals they have, how a Jedi's day is structured, what different paths and roles are common with Jedi, all the Jedi philosophy, what kind of pets they have, etc. It's in three (so far) parts, so you'll have to browse through each of them, but the set-up is the same in each one, so if you find a section that you need the info on, just Ctrl+F to find it in the next part or skip to the same chapter, they're the same template for each! - My "reference" tag - Which is a mixed bag of various posts and different continuities (primarily Lucas + Disney, though) that organize this kind of thing, like a possible in-universe calendar system [also here], a collection of worldbuilding bits specific to Padawan, which was pre-TPM, crossection of the Jedi Temple, a Jedi Council seating arrangement chart through the years, a list of the handful of Master&Apprentice match-ups that we know, a list of "what kind of swearing do people of the galaxy do?" because it's hilarious, a compilation of everything I could find about Jedi healers in ANY continuity, etc. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions (or anyone else wants to suggest other resources!), feel free to ask, I might be able to better steer you if you have a specific question--or at least tell you that I don't think we have anything on that. AND ALSO just remember: the books and games and comics are pretty low on the "hard canon" level, the movies and the TV shows are the highest level of canon, everything else is supplementary and you do NOT have to scour every inch of it if you don't want to! Relax and have fun with it as best you can. <3

Wendingways' Star Wars fic recs
The vast majority of these are fix-its. Some are time travel/time loop. Most revolve around PT, TCW, and OT characters. A lot are also gen, as it turns out.
The order of the list has nothing to do with how much I enjoyed each fic, because I've enjoyed them all in different ways, for different reasons! Fics that seem to be really popular have been placed toward the bottom of each section, because I'm guessing they already appear on a lot of other rec lists. Aside from that, the order is pretty much random.
*Chapter and word counts may not be up to date. I try to go through once in a while to update the details for WIPS, but it's a lot to keep track of!
Complete multichapter fics
Finding Obi-Wan; T, 86.9k. Obi-Wan, having disappeared from the Jedi Temple, wakes up with no idea who he is or what the Force is and gets pulled into all manner of messes (yes, Hondo gets involved, of course he does), while Anakin refuses to believe he's dead and struggles to find him.
Blood and Copper Oxide; T, 36.3k. "Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader crash land on a planet that shouldn't have existed. Luke can't escape Vader and survive the planet at the same time. Darth Vader can't capture Luke and fight off the innumerable threats the planet sends his way. They might have to work together instead." Very cool story!
The Skywalker Secret; T, 39.8k. Anakin time travels back to the Clone Wars following Endor. The story is told mostly through the eyes of perplexed observers, and has an excellent ending; it's very satisfying and lovely!
Lunches at Anakin's; T, 93.1k. After Endor, thanks to the Force's meddling, Anakin finds himself alive but stuck on Tatooine, where he ends up reluctantly mentoring a Force-sensitive girl. (Technically complete, but part of a series which is not complete.)
(Tooka)Cat Scratch Fever; not rated, 17.7k. Luke adopts a tooka which turns out to be his father, under a curse by Sidious. (I would probably rate this one as T.)
In the Tall Grass; T, 18.5k. "After a failed order 66, in which many Jedi still died but the Sith were defeated, an exiled warrior and a boy wander a distant planet and attempt to get along." This one is so cool, it has such a fairytale feel to it! And there's a sequel!
Shadows of the Future; K+, 129.3k. Obi-Wan dies on Mustafar and is sent back to TPM, where he bonds with Anakin and begins to change the future for the better.
Gut Feeling; T, 7.5k. Amusing little multichapter wherein Piett is assigned a new aide who goes by the name of Lucas Starkiller (who is clearly not Luke Skywalker, definitely not), and from there becomes embroiled in treason.
May Death Find You Alive; T, 11.0k. Anakin gets stuck in a time loop where Obi-Wan keeps dying.
Empire Reimagined; series, T, 341.7k. A saga of Luke, Vader/Anakin, Piett, Veers, and Leia covering from ESB-era to post-ROTJ. Epic friendships abound! (Series not marked complete, but the last completed fic doesn't leave you hanging.)
Mirjahaal; T, 132.8k. Another lovely Wishful fic in the spirit of Empire Reimagined, involving favorite characters and somebody else who's a surprise!
The Exiled; T, 20.1k. "Leia has tried everything to help her baby son. She has turned to every expert on the Force she knows-- all but one. (Ben and Grandpa go camping)" (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Cloudy Symbols of High Romance; G, 22.1k. This one's a bit of a relict! Posted pre-AOTC, way back in 2001, it's a cool take on how Anakin and Padmé's AOTC-era reunion happened, and omg, it's so much better than AOTC. It's actually cute, and you can see why they like each other, and man does it make the knowledge of what's coming so much the worse.
Kintsugi; T, 16.7k. Quietly tragic, even though nobody dies and it's broadly a fix-it. Not a comfy fic, but one which is well done.
What Lurks in the Dark; T, 155.4k. "A simple mission to check out an abandoned weapons factory turns into a dangerous fight for survival. Trust is broken, loyalties will be tested, and dark secrets are brought to light. Because sooner or later, the truth always comes out."
The Beauty in the Beast; T, 46.1k. "When the Force decides it's had enough of Darth Vader and wants Anakin Skywalker back, it dumps his long-lost teenage son on his doorstep with an ultimatum: unless Vader renounces the Sith and turns back to the Light within three months, Luke will die."
Sibling Revelry; T, 24.9k. "After Bespin and before Endor, Darth Vader is shocked to discover that Luke and Leia are twins. Especially since Imperial Intelligence just told him that Organa and Skywalker are, erm, a tad closer than previously suspected..." A hilarious comedy of misunderstandings!
The Sith Who Brought Life Day; G, 13.3k. A rather entertaining take on how Vader found out who blew up the Death Star.
This Life of Ours; T, 53.9k. "On the run from the empire and the remaining Jedi alike, Vader must come to terms with his past and his future, all the while learning to care for the boy that is his only connection to his life as Anakin Skywalker." (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Teach the Padawan. Save the Galaxy.; series, T, 387.4k. 4 books complete, but the series itself is not complete. Ben Kenobi goes back in time and becomes Obi-Wan's master instead of Qui-Gon.
Legacy; G, 175.5k. Post-ROTJ Luke and Leia time travel to the Clone Wars.
there but for the grace of god; T, 49.2k. Young Luke winds up time traveling to the Clone Wars, where he causes both confusion and conversations that will lead to a brighter future for the TCW crew and the galaxy in general.
Precipice; M, 231.7k. "An AU in which Anakin Skywalker does not follow Mace Windu and the others to Palpatine’s office after they leave to arrest the Chancellor. As a result, he doesn’t get that final push over the edge, and doesn’t Fall." Padmé and Anakin each raise a twin and work to bring Palpatine down.
Don't Look Back; M, series, 533.7k. 2 books complete, 1 in progress. Leia gets sent back to AOTC-era, and omg is she a force to be reckoned with! Very detailed, very political series.
Oneshots
Negative Static Stability; G, 8.1k. Vader and Leia meet when Leia is 5; lessons on the workings of ships ensue, along with some good old Artoo scheming. Adorable!
Palpatine's Greatest Hits II: Imperial Boogaloo; T, 1.3k. Just Palpatine being salty. It's very fun! "Fortress Dramaticus" has got to be one of my favorite bits, coupled with Palpatine's ongoing disgust at its lack of shields and certain people's inability to learn certain lessons. And his disgust at Vader's Kenobi obsession. Okay, the whole thing is great. Go read it!
Dust to Dust; T, 4.7k. "Darth Vader goes back in time. The Galaxy is saved; he is not."
Puppet Kings; series, T-M, 18.8k. Really nicely done, dark oneshot trilogy (complete) about Luke, Vader, & Co. I'm not usually one for horror and tragedy, but I read the first fic in the series and didn't want to stop!
Amelioration; T, 8.2k. "A recently liberated Vader attempts to ameliorate the future by changing the past." A different sort of angle, and an interesting fic!
The Horrendous Space Kablooie; T, 6.2k. "9 year old Anakin wakes up on the Executor. Chaos ensues." Well worth reading! Can't say more because I don't want to spoil anything.
The Agony of Tarkin; G, 4.8k. "An extra in the Imperial Opera Company discovers he has been assigned the role of Darth Vader in its upcoming production of The Agony of Tarkin." Another hilarious fic in the vein of The Sith Who Brought Life Day and Accountant Non-Heroes of the Republic.
Accountant Non-Heroes of the Republic; G, 7.0k. "Palpatine makes a choice to hide his fiscal manoeuvres in the Financial Department. The Financial Department takes advantage of this lack of transparency to do whatever they want. This saved the Republic." It's always fun to watch Palpatine shoot himself in the foot, and all the better when it comes completely out of left field.
Out of Step; T, 4.9k. Nice little oneshot with post OT-era Obi-Wan and Anakin stuck into their TPM-era selves.
FIVE HUNDRED AND ONE THING THE MEMBERS OF THE 501ST LEGION OF THE GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO; T, 4.9k. A hilarious list composed by General Kenobi. I laugh myself silly every time I read this. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
501 MORE THINGS THE 501ST ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO; T, 3.4k. A sequel to the 501st list fic, also very funny, although it only has about 250 entries, not 501. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.) Listed with oneshots because the extant 250 entries can be read as a complete list.
Where Have We Come?; T, 2.0k. "The first time was one of the hardest and the easiest. Obi-Wan loses at Mustafar, but instead of dying he wakes up at the dawn of the last day of the republic, doomed to repeat the worst day of his life, over and over again." Time loop!
you drew stars around my scars (but now i'm bleeding); not rated, 1.1k. Post-Twilight of the Apprentice, Ahsoka and Anakin. I'd rate G or T. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
still dancing with your ghosts (sleeping with your memories); M, 1.1k. "Everyone knows about the Massacre, and how no Jedi made it out alive. The Jedi refuse to let anyone forget." I do not cry easily at fics. This one made me cry.
The Trick is to Keep Breathing; T, 3.5k. "She's older now, and so is he. Far older now. She wonders: will he have lost any power with his age? Will he be shorter, weaker? An old man on a ventilator? It's hard to imagine that he won't still be dangerous. But then, that's exactly what she's counting on."
Tuning up your TIE-Fighter to prove you’re better than the bastard currently running the TIE-Fighter Program for fun and profit; G, 7.1K. "As a rule, Vader didn't really do anything with his social media account, but then the rant of some kid from Tatooine about the inefficiency of TIE Fighters began trending, the pilots and engineers on the Devastator started fixing their ships and Vader got invested."
Multichapter fics that are incomplete but still appear to be alive as of now
Turning Point; T, 9.8k. After Vader dies on the second Death Star, he's sent back in time to the year 69 BBY, on Naboo, where he picks up an unfortunate barnacle in the person of the teenage Sheev Palpatine. Quite entertaining, and I can't wait to see where it goes!
The Good He Seeks; T, 70.1k. "After killing the Emperor, Darth Vader agreed to serve the fledgling New Republic and destroy the last true-believers of the Empire he had once helped create. But he's living on borrowed time." Though I do enjoy pure fix-its, there's just something that really gets me about fics that are fix-it-ish, but life is messy, the characters are messy, there are no easy answers or perfect solutions, and every positive development really feels earned. So far, this is one of those fics, and I'm loving it!
The Galaxy Revolves at a Million Miles a Day (Around Me); T, 40.7k. After dying on Executor during the battle of Endor, Piett finds himself trapped in a time loop which he must break. I'm a sucker for time loops, and this is such a good one!
The Sleepover to Restore the Republic; T, 56.1k. This many Skywalkers, clones, and associated friends, relatives, and coworkers were never intended to be thrown together, and when they are, boy oh boy. Gloriously chaotic and funny. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Nameless, on the Edge of Nowhere; M, 100.7k. Vader survives ROTJ, but both he and Luke made it out of the second Death Star via random hyperspace jumps in separate ships. After getting by for a time, the not-fully-Sith-but-not-fully-redeemed Vader ends up with the Rebellion, where Leia becomes his handler. Slow build, and a really rewarding read thus far! (Also, I love the OCs in this one; they all feel very natural and vivid, and like people in their own right.)
Multichapter fics/series for those okay with living on the edge (inconsistent updates, long hiatus, or abandoned)
Headaches; T, 31.2K. "When Luke overhears his aunt and uncle arguing, he follows old Ben to Daiyu. Skywalker shenanigans ensues." Oh my goodness, the pure child chaos that is in this fic, it's an excellent time. Hasn't updated in almost a year, but what's there is so good!
Balance on the knife edge; T, 136.6k. After dying on Malachor, Ahsoka time travels back to Mortis, during the Clone Wars.
The Thunder Answered Back; M, 13.1k. "Count Dooku survives his duel with Anakin Skywalker only to wake up as a captive in the Jedi Temple on the evening of Order 66 and the siege. Betrayed, maimed, and surrounded by slaughter on every side, he must choose his path forward - and choose it quickly. RotS AU." Featuring Jocasta Nu.
Synchronous; G, 67.9k. "It's the usual time-entangling fiasco: 'Find the disturbance. Rectify the wrong. Fix the anomaly. Bring balance to the past so the Force may be balanced in the future.' There is a slight miscalculation, however, and Luke Skywalker finds himself in the Clone Wars while having to masquerade in the body of his late father Anakin Skywalker. Leia and Han aren't so helpful either."
In the Midst of Darkness Lays a Sleeping Light; T, 26.0k. Series, wherein Palpatine turns Vader into a dragon. (It goes great for both of them. Totally.) Angsty and enjoyable, and an interesting exploration of dehumanization/rehumanization.
To Set Up a Sith; T, 35.2k. "Teenage Luke tries to help his unwitting Sith father make a friend, with a little help from his ghost mom and the Force." Interesting story with fun and sweet bits, and I'm super curious about how it will turn out if it's ever finished!
like a lazy ocean hugs the shore; T, 10.7k. After Vader kills him, Fox gets stuck in a time loop around the time when Fives is killed.
Living Every Day; T, 82.9k. "When Satine Kryze survives her encounter with Darth Maul, it changes the galaxy. But even more than that, it changes the lives of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Skywalker family."
Dancing with Ghosts in Your Garden; T, 979.3k. Star Wars PT and TCW characters, but in a Hogwarts setting. It works surprisingly well! There's a little more teenage romance than is my personal preference, but it's a cool AU and quite long if you're looking for a fun, imaginative fic to absolutely bury yourself in for a while. (And it looks like Ahsoka might finally be entering during the next year of the fic!!)
What We've Become; T, 82.0K. "Darth Vader and Ahsoka’s fight on Malachor takes a different path, and Ahsoka actually is able to save her master. Or rather, she’s able to convince him to save himself. Diverges from canon in the last few minutes of Twilight of the Apprentice and goes increasingly AU from there."
better late than never; G, 41.4k. Ahsoka wins at Malachor, Vader redemption fic.
Madhouse Promenade; T, 13.0k. "In a bid to save his new apprentice's life, Darth Sidious siphoned the life force from Padmé Amidala, ultimately killing her. Ten years later, after finding out the truth, Darth Vader finds himself haunted by her ghost, and Padmé finds herself face-to-face with what her husband has become."
Hard Reset; T, 33.4k. "Anakin Skywalker wakes up to his worst nightmare, and he doesn't even know all of it yet." Aka Vader gets amnesia, and Anakin is confused about everything. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
The Ghosts on Coruscant; T, 143.6k. After surviving Mustafar and living as a rebel for eight years, Padmé is captured by the Empire, and Vader finds out.
Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns; T, 616.6k. ST-era Leia time travels back to ANH.
Old Man Luke; M, 109.4. ST-era Luke and Leia time travel to the Clone Wars.
Comics (all wips)
Dark Chasm; T, 21 chapters. "On Bespin, the truth is revealed, and Vader bids for Luke to join him. Luke looks down into the dark chasm and makes a choice."
Imperial Babysitters; T, 17 chapters. Cute comic/art series with Luke being raised by Vader, Piett, and Veers.
Our New Hope; T, 57 chapters. "After Ahsoka Tano discovers 12-year-old Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, she takes him under her wing and around the Galaxy. Meanwhile, Darth Vader has found Bail Organa's force-sensitive daughter and has started training her as a Junior Inquisitor. A chance encounter between the twins brings their worlds together."
The Tinies; G, 76 chapters. Cute comic with Vader and Padmé raising Luke and Leia.
