Photo from protest in Greece that took place in solidarity with anarchist prisoner Giannis Michailidis who was on hunger strike from the 23rd of May, 2022, which was suspended after 68 days. The state and the judiciary vindictively did not accept his demand which was to be released from the prison after he has had served his sentence.

From 2010 until today, the Solidarity Fund has been trying to obtain a regular and consistent political, moral and material support for collecting funds, which derives primarily from the conscious participation of each and every one of us, as well as from groups and collectives, that contribute to the continuation of factual solidarity. Continued state repression, however, results in a large number of political prisoners and legal costs, and consequently, in particularly high material needs. At this moment, the Solidarity Fund supports 21 prisoners on a regular monthly basis; Koufontinas Dimitris, Michailidis Giannis, Xiros Savvas, Petrakakos Giorgos, Sakkas Kostas, Stathopoulos Vangelis, Christodoulou Spyros, Mantzouridis Christos, Fotis Daskalas, Iasonas Rodopoulos and the 11 militants from Turkey and Kurdistan (Harika Kızılkaya, Hazal Seçer, Sinan Oktay Özen, Sinan Çam, Ali Ercan Gökoğlu, Burak Ağarmış, Halil Demir, Hasan Kaya, Anıl Sayar, İsmail Zat, Şadi Naci Özpolat). In many cases we also try to cover -as much as our (financial) capabilities allow-the legal expenses and bails of comrades who are persecuted for their political identity, their actions or even for their family or comrade relationship with imprisoned militants.

The previous years due to the pandemic we experienced unprecedented situations both as society and as political movements but also regarding the conditions of prisons and the process of fundraising in order to support the prisoners. The state, as it would be expected, took advantage of the spread of covid-19 as yet another means to impose new repressive policies. However, throughout those times we managed to secure the necessary resources to support the imprisoned comrades and also to cover various court fees that arose. Our previous successful firefund campaigns supported by people worldwide also contributed to this effort. The needs of the structure however are always constant, as long as imprisoned and persecuted comrades exist.

Now experiencing the aftermath of the state managing the pandemic and all the new plans that it has already begun to implement -with catastrophic results- such as the new education policy (abolition of the “asylum”, repressive operations within the campuses), the eviction of squats, the repressive interventions by the police in public spaces where until now they were used for financial support events, we are faced with new difficulties regarding the moral, material and political support of imprisoned & persecuted militants. So we decided to appeal once again to comrades throughout the world to strengthen the purpose of the structure and help us financially through the firefund platform.

Speaking of Greece lately, our comrades need help raising funds for continued support of those imprisoned. They are trying to raise 3000 euros. You can read more about their struggles in this interview over on It’s Going down.

Antifascist activist Kita becomes the latest political prisoner under Belarus' authoritarian Lukashenko regime. She was arrested with her husband back in March for making Instagram posts criticising the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the police.

Her conviction is for inciting hatred toward a group of people, cops. Specifically in calling them garbage.

Im folgenden findet ihr eine kurze Einleitung in den Vortrag, welcher auf Englisch stattfinden wird. Die Gruppe sammelt im Rahmen der Veranstaltung Spenden für ihre Solidaritätsarbeit in Belarus. Wir freuen uns außerdem, dass die @fau_koeln bereits ab 14 Uhr das Café im Naturfreundehaus öffnen wird und vor der Veranstaltung zu Kuchen und Getränken einlädt. "Im Jahr 2020 erhob sich die belarussische Gesellschaft gegen die Diktatur von Alexander Lukaschenko und seinen Lakaien. Monatelang organisierten sich die Menschen, demonstrierten und kämpften für eine gerechte und freie Gesellschaft. Doch der Staat setzte sich durch und begann, den Protest Schritt für Schritt zu zerschlagen. Seit dem Beginn des Aufstandes sind mehr als zwei Jahre vergangen. Tausende landeten für viele Jahre im Gefängnis. Darunter auch Anarchistinnen und Antifaschistinnen, die mit der Bevölkerung auf der Straße standen. Trotz der langen Zeit, die seitden Protesten vergangen ist, geht der Staatsterror weiter, mit immer mehr Verhaftungen wegen der Teilnahme an den Protesten oder des anhaltenden Widerstands gegen das Regime. Anarchist Black Cross Belarus organisiert seit 13 Jahren Solidaritätsarbeit mit unterdrückten Anarchistinnen und Antifaschistinnen. Diese Arbeit erfordert einen hohen Aufwand an Ressourcen und Zeit. In den letzten Jahren haben wir es mit der Unterstützung von Genossinnen aus aller Welt geschafft, unsere Arbeit fortzusetzen, aber in den letzten Monaten wurden unsere Mittel durch ständige Gerichtsverfahren aufgebraucht. Wir sind nun verschuldet und rufen zur Unterstützung auf, um unsere Solidarität fortsetzen zukönnen. Freese, Milwaukee, Minn., are in the city in the interest of their son and brother, a prisoner in the Penitentiary serving sentence of 5 years.

Prisoner, under an assumed name, has served 3 years. One story as to why young Freese, for he is in his early twenties; is confined in prison is that he was first sentenced to a short term in jail. He broke out, and his punishment was confinement in Portsmouth. Mrs. Freese had considerable difficulty in locating her son.

It is understood that the young man's brain has been affected, and he in confined to the hospital

Mrs. Freese has applied to the Minister of Justice at Ottawa for his release or parole.
