Gaalee headcanon

Lee tries to build bridges, Gaara tries to build barriers to keep Lee safe from him.

Rock Lee wants to know him more, he admires him a lot what pretty soon turns to be a crush. Maybe Gaara doesn't get it but he feels "different" when Lee's next to him, he feels happy but nervous inside what makes him afraid of getting out of control somehow.

Sometimes Lee tried to get closer to him physically and Gaara used his sand. Kinda hurted Lee (but he didn't mind at all) that made Gaara horrified and even worried, apologizing for 100 times at least, Lee thinks that's cute.

Lee keeps insisting on talking to him patiently asking some personal questions as old friends would do, like how is it to live in the sand, how Gaara sees his siblings today, what being a kazekage means to him..

And Gaara answers rightly and honestly. He really evolved since years ago, what made Lee very proud.

So they started to get closer and Gaara's insecurities one day disappeared completely next to Lee. He started to count on Lee when he wanted to talk about sensitive subjects, so they were emotionally connected.

Gaara: Not a nice thing to say about your new brother.

Lee: Well of course he’s weak; he’s just a baby, Shinki-kun. But when he’s older I’ll start to train him, and I guarantee he’ll be one of the strongest people in the world. Strength runs in my family, after all.

Lee: *turning to Shinki* Speaking of which, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you for a while.

Shinki: Yes?

Lee: I, um, I know all of this happened quickly. Me marrying your dad, and before we knew it Metal was on the way. But you know I’ve loved your dad for a long, long time. Since we were young. And nothing makes me happier than being with him, and this family we’re creating. I guess what I’m trying to ask is, um … how would you feel about me formally adopting you? So that I could be your dad, too?

Gaara: You don’t have to answer right away, son. Take time to think it over, and —

Shinki: Yes.

Lee: R-really? Yes?

Shinki, giving a rare smile: Yes. You make father happy, you make me happy. I’d be honored to be your son, too.

Lee:

Lee: *starts sobbing and clutching Shinki to him* Son!!

Shinki, starting to cry: F-father!

Metal: *starts to cry*

Gai, coming to visit, being wheeled down the hall by Kakashi: *immediately starts crying when he hears the others crying*

Gaara:
