Like , unapologetically ‘character design that appeals probably only to you’ levels of self indulgent . I think catering to yourself without a sense of shame or ‘cringe’ is genuinely hard to do some times, so I think itd be rlly fun to make self indulgence an art trend, maybe???

The West Midlands Police were kind enough to upload a high-rez of their surveillance camera control room to Flickr under a CC license (they've since deleted it), and it was the perfect frame for dozens of repeating clown images with HAL9000 red noses. This worked out great. The clown face is from a 1940s ad for novelty masks.

I spent an absurd amount of time transforming a photo I took of three pinball machines into union-busting themed tables, pulling in a bunch of images from old Soviet propaganda art. An editorial cartoon of Teddy Roosevelt with his big stick takes center stage, while a NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo's official portrait presides over the scene. I hand-made the eight-segment TILT displays.

Clearly, he's lying about capitalism, hence the Atlas Shrugged cover. Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights" makes for an excellent, public domain hellscape fit for a nonconensual pitch about the miracle of capitalism.

There's no better image for stories about techbros scamming rubes than Bosch's 'The Conjurer.' Throw in Jeff Bezos's head and an Amazon logo and you're off to the races. I boobytrapped this image by adding as many fingers as I could fit onto each of these figures in the hopes that someone could falsely accuse me of AI-generating this. No one did.

Slap a different smiley-face emoji on each of the tormented figures in 'Garden of Earthly Delights' and you've got a perfect metaphor for the 'brand safety' problem of hard news dying online because brands don't want to be associated with unpleasant things, and the news is very unpleasant indeed.

I really struggle to come up with images for my linkdump posts. I'm running out of ways to illustrate assortments and varieties. I got to noodling with a Kellogg's mini-cereal variety pack and I realized it was the perfect place for a vicious gorilla image I'd just found online in a WWI propaganda poster headed 'Destroy This Mad Brute.' I put so many fake AI tells in this one – extra pupils, extra fingers, a super-AI-esque Kellogg's logo.

but specifically this market created entirely by people publishing something they shit out with no effort on amazon who then openly buoy and support other people who simply do not give a shit about the quality of what they make. and its not like it's a secret, they are out in public trading tips with each other that amount to "be fraudulent about the quality of your product to trick unsuspecting rubes into buying what you make" and then congratulating each other when they do

every release is 5 stars (after being inflated by other authors expecting the same favor) until the real reviews come trickling in and reveal that the books are poorly edited or just plain bad. besides it being slimy and underhanded to do so, its also just like. sad. like spiritually, morally lol. i literally cannot imagine having so little pride in what i put my name on and send out into the world to represent me. like now when i see a book with a "specific vibe" (stupid title or AI gen/poorly photoshopped book cover with windows generic fonts) i assume that the person behind it is another dead-eyed soulless husk of a freak who is looking to make "passive income" and not participate in a serious artistic conversation or consideration.

None of you know how AI works. Fuck, none of you have a consistent model for how writing works. When a human produces fiction based on a text they have read they have "learned" from that text and are producing "original work", when an AI does it it just copying (even when the output text is a completely new passage that isn't replicated even partially in the initial work).

Why? Because humans are special and are truly alive and have souls and the things they do are numinous actions that can't be explained by the cold machinations of the physical world 😊. But not this is totally a cold facts common sense non-mystical argument guys!!!

Ah yes, because the only way to learn about the characters and plot beats from a book is to have access to the original text, which is why I after reading a wikipedia summary of ASoIaF absolutely cannot tell you anything about what happens in it. This is therefore legal PROOF that the evil computer STOLE the characters and concepts and writing style from Georgio Double-R (a thing that it is possible to do).

No for serious guyyys for real these multi-multi-millionaire/billionaire authors and their corporate publishing houses only care about derivative works because it's being theoretically two-steps removed monetized, it's totally not about having a monopoly on entertainment and iron-clad control on how characters and stories are able to exist in public spaces. It's totally not ever possible to argue that fanworks posted on ad-supported social media sites are also being indirectly monetized....

tbh more than the fact that late night with the devil uses AI art so heavily in the production i'm insulted by the fact that they did it so sloppily with zero refinement. it's got all the stereotypical trademarks of lazy AI art -- the fucked up fingers, major details of images looking disfigured and melted, nonsense components to the image that shouldnt be there.

and i think this is revealing about people who want to use AI to replace artists. they don't even know how to work the machines, they just think the minimum is enough. why, in your movie that you are releasing to theaters that i am paying two digit prices to see, are you serving me crap visuals that you didnt even bother to meaningfully edit. as an audience to your work it makes me feel like you think i'm a rube and that you don't need to try. it makes me feel like a teacher realizing their student copied and pasted a section of their essay off wikipedia -- did you think i wasn't smart enough to notice? did you not even try to hide it? why should i believe that you're actually committed to your craft if you can't even be bothered to futz around in photoshop in post production?
