Headcanon: Miguel’s Latino Music Tastes

Notes: From a Latine perspective. All great songs to listen to, if you never listened to them. I wanted to fit in Peso Pluma, but I don’t think Miguel would listen to our boy ;(

Summary: Songs I think Miguel would listen to, generally fluffy headcanons  and some spice with optional angst 

He listened to Romeo Santos, specifically,  “Eres Mia.” He is very romantic, but you have to get past his closed-off image, but once he starts thinking of you romantically, he cannot get you out of his head.

“Entro a tu cuarto y nuevamente te hago mía, Bien conoces, Mis errores, El egoísmo de ser dueño de tu vida, Eres mía, mía, mía” 

His mom taught him how to dance cumbia and he can lead pretty decently, estilo CDMX. His hips are not stiff, but he is not the extra/pro dancer on the pista, but he will pull off the smooth transitions that got everyone jealous. Not a fun of public dancing, and refuses for the most part, unless you ask him to or you DRAG him to the dance floor. He might initiate it at home in private, but at a party, he will give in to a few songs, but mostly to the ones that allow him to lead your body.  

Sunday mornings are to dance together as you clean. You manage to always get him to dance for a solid three songs, before he chuckles and tells you to actually clean. If you like pushing his buttons (which very few people are allowed to) you can tip your imaginary hat to him and hit those Tao, Tao and Botecito steps. He would clean around you, but offer your hands he will fold every time. He cannot deny you at all. 

He is from NY, there is NO WAY this man does not listen to Dembow and Reggaeton. Likely to say things like “I was born in the wrong generation and prefer more ‘older songs’” aka old Reggaeton, la Salsa Cubana, and Dominican Bachata, but no one can resist El Alfa. You try to tease him at home blasting Bombón as you try to slap his ass and the look of disbelief this man gives you. As you try to go for the second ass tap, he grabs your hand to turn you around and pushes your back down and moves his hips upwards along the beat to Mueve ese bon, bon, bon, Trying to return your tease he tells you, “That’s right, throw it back for me”

You wanna fluster him? Play Toskicha. You know the trend of people blind-playing Delincuente for their moms, do the same thing. Matter of fact, sing it to him. See what that gets you ;)

When this man is jealous LORD… Dile from Don Omar. He would just lean back on a wall nurse a drink, if he is sitting, he is manspreading looking at you and the other person you are talking to. Remember when I said, he prefers to not dance in public, yeah no, for this?? Puro Pinche Perreo. You know it is the easiest and boldest way to show off your partner.

I'm kind of basic and super embarrassed to share my super señora music taste but I love every Ángeles Azules song (except 17 años for obvious reasons). I mentioned El Colesterol last time but I love Fito Olivares in general - Juana la Cubana is his other famous one. I love El Pipiripau, La Cumbia Sampuesana, Mil Horas, Tao, Tao (is that cumbia?? idk), Fuego by Kumbia Kings. Also by Kumbia Kings, Na, Na, Na (Dulce Niña) is like top 3 songs of alllll time for me. Oh and Grupo Frontera everything..,.

Tabaco y Ron is also a really good one! Cumbia is so lighthearted and fun - but I like Tabaco y Ron a lot because the subject matter is pretty serious (trafficking, the bad people of the world, and dying), but the message is that this is something you just have to survive/dance through and make the most of. The lines "Quita esa mala cara, compadre // Que te va a matar esa amargura" really gets me out of my head – worry and bitterness really do kill, I think, so it's best to drop it.

Anyway as u can see I love cumbia a lot ! (Also fan of salsas and banda, etc.) Mando mil abrazos anon!! Vas a ver que todo saldrá bien, para ti y para mi. Seguimos adelante <3
