A Home, A Pack, A Place of Love by Lucigoo89 (WIP, 4K, 2ch.)- You can't keep me away from puppy fics! Deciding to run away from home, Corgi Bilbo takes puppy Frodo and escapes into the streets which might not be that friendly to the small animals. The love between Frodo and Bilbo is already so adorable and we haven't even met any company members yet!

To Court a King by Porphyrios (Complete, 19K, 1ch.)- This fic has been recced a lot recently and it's totally worth it! Bilbo and Thorin have decided to court, only some are worried about the worthiness of such a match. I have reread this fic twice just this month alone.

T Rated:

Desperate Magic by BeautifulFiction (Complete, 5K, 1ch.)- This is one of those fics that is worth revisting again and again. On the brink of death, Bilbo sees it in himself to tend to Thorin's hair. It's such a unique kind of Everybody Lives fic, and I just get overwhelmed by the love in this story.

Frozen Heart by snowmissus (soul_of_blaze) (WIP, 7K, 3ch.)- When Danny first promoted this fic on tumblr I was 100% invested. Erebor is trapped in a forever winter and Bilbo is brought to see if he can help. I can't wait to see what all is in store for this fic because the setup is spectacular.

Golden Hearts Bleed Faster by LordOfTheRazzles (WIP, 3K, 1ch.)- I've been waiting for Razzy to release this fic. Bilbo Baggins is the Prince of the Shire and in need of a new bodyguard, Thorin. Bilbo is just so sassy and you can tell this is going to lead to some good antics between the duo.

There and Not Back Again (or, The Saving of Erebor) by femmbingley (WIP, 164K, 49ch.)- There's so much to say about this fic. Post-BOTFA dwarven politics where Bilbo has assumed the duties of the consort which makes things more difficult for Dain. I really love the characterizations and I just can't get enough of this fic!

M Rated:

A heart of stone and Fire in his soul by Lucigoo89 (Complete, 3K, 1ch.)- This fic is chock full of beautiful metaphors. Bilbo's introspection on his thoughts of Thorin during their first standoff with Azog. Honestly, this is one of my favorite Goo fics.

E Rated:

Kurdu 'abadaz by LordOfTheRazzles (WIP, 34K, 6ch.)- This is unlike any Post-BOTFA fic I've ever read. The magic of the Arkenstone brings Thorin back to life for a purpose: help the trapped souls of Erebor. There's such a touching scene between Thorin and his amad that has me in pieces over this fic!

Sleep Alone; Start All Over by vicious_summer (WIP, 56K, 3ch.)- I'm still thoroughly enjoying this fic so far. After an accident, Bilbo is the one who ends up losing about seven years worth of memories including the fact that he’s married to the King Under the Mountain. I’m just always so impressed with vicious_summer’s writing style as it has a more Book!Bilbo vibe.

It's an opportunity.

One you gladly take, sitting in front of your laptop with fingers tap tap tapping frantically at the keys. The pay is awful and the work hours are worse. It's practically daylight robbery, and you honestly know you're worth more.

And yet, your eyes roam longingly over the listing description, stating something about wanting to work with the rising stars - a clever play on words by the famous modelling agency “Rising Stars.” You, however, find it underwhelming and dull. You’re not here to work with rising stars, you’re here to work with them.

To say anything. Reconcile. Apologise, maybe.

With a final spur from your dwindling confidence, you take a breath and slam your finger down on the enter button as if you’re selling your soul. You might as well be, given the fact that the contract is for at least ten years. Which is probably one of the many reasons the role hasn’t been filled.

You’ve heard from other places: the news, hearsay, and so forth, that the three models are conceited and sassy. You can understand that for one of the three, but it sounds so uncharacteristic for the others that you can’t help but worry about the confrontation. Or wonder if they’ll even remember your name.

Thoughts heavy, and limbs even heavier due to exhaustion above your usual level, you trudge to your kitchenette to start the day. At 3am. Potato, Potahto.

Your studio flat is luckily within a short drive of the studio. It’s relatively barren, but it’s yours, even though the only signs of it being lived in would be the countless takeaway coffee cups, the chaotic state of your bedroom and the little corgi that trots up to you to nudge at your shins. You bend down and scoop them into your arms, patting behind Comet's ears with fervour. Their tail windmills in response, and you can't help the short huff of a laugh that comes out from your mouth. It rustles Comet's fluff and they turn to stare at you with sass akin to a human teenager before bapping at your chest to be put down.

You oblige before taking your eyes off of them, sparing the lounge a wistful once-over. Glue dots leave stains on the walls from where pictures were so long ago, and you barely glance in their direction as you make your way to your coffee machine. A plush loveseat sits in the cosy space, facing a TV that’s rarely turned on.

You take your morning meds with your coffee. It’s never the smartest choice, but the amount of water you drink is almost nil, so you like to think your body is used to it despite the brewing headache.

Fingers dance gently over your own tattoos, running a hand down your torso as you contemplate the next few hours.

The listing said Rising Star’s response times are good, especially since as a big agency they have 24 hour services. You just hope you’ll hear back soon so the useless thrumming anxiety in your heart can dissipate.

You’re not sure what you want the response to be.

A few hours of mulling about later, and your prayers are answered in the form of a notification from an unknown number.

She is a cream flame point munchkin cat. You can't see her legs in the picture, but she is short like she had a corgi parent. She is sassy and demanding and has so many medical problems that she was adopted by a vet clinic as their clinic cat because she is so expensive to take care of, but she is very much loved and now she gets to gaze haughtily down at all the visiting clients and patients from her condo in the server room while begging for ear scratches.

The definition of "The lights are on but nobody's home" this is in fact an extremely pretty boy and likely a subcategory of himbo. He is so friendly and yet so intimidating to strangers. A big ol baby. Bastard son of a Maine Coon, a Siamese, and a Mountain Lion. Thinks of nothing but snacks and snuggles.

2023 review

Hi beans! I bring you an art dump of all my art made in 2023 because I keep forgetting this website exists. (It's c/pd from my Patreon, that's how bad I am.)

First up is a book cover I made for my sister (Daina Rustin - Demon Hunter, not published), that I actually started a year or two ago, but had the last push/rework in January and called it finished. I’m also adding the sword concepts I made for it, even though they were technically done in 2022, as I haven’t shared them before.

In February, I did some figure and hand studies with some friends on the NFC discord, and thumbnailed a bunch of locations and ideas for Sky Across illustrations. March was the beginning of my character concept art project for the main character of Sky Across - Aurelia.

Started with figure drawings, then outfit variations and explorations for different uses and settings. After that it was colour variations, and the last one is a finished character illustration. I also spent some time doing general research and working on worldbuilding, writing and designing certain elements that will be important for the story later on :>

At the beginning of June, I started working on a “props” section for my portfolio. I made it so far that I made a whole 3D/blender scene with them, and then…. I wasn’t excited about painting them. I kept pushing it around, sort of like pushing food around your plate when you have no appetite. After some time staring at that task in my calendar, I decided I would be better off doing something that ✨ sparked joy ✨ instead. So, I painted a new Witcher fanart piece.  It was done in anticipation of the third season of the show on Netflix…. That I still haven’t finished. Oops.

July and August were a big dud for me, art-wise. I was going through a rough period and I was busy with real-life issues.

September was a big month for me as that was when my ADHD diagnosis was approved and I finally got medicated. I think I did more things (in general) in that first week than I did in the entire July+August. I finally saw the bottom of my dirty laundry basket after 7 years.

Art wise, I did another bunch of thumbs for my Sky Across illustration, I set up the references I needed in Daz3D and Blender, and I got an offer to work on an exciting freelance project so I jumped on the research and thumbnails for that as well. The project is still in progress, and I'm looking forward to sharing it next year!

September was also when I drew Hopper, Nickie’s cat, in pencils. I used to do a lot of traditional art in the past so I didn’t think it would be complicated, despite not having drawn a realistic cat in over a decade…. I always forget how humbling traditional work is. Nickie visited my hometown and I travelled back home to meet her and see my family <3

I got a cold as soon as I returned and that slowed down my zoomies for a few weeks, some family/personal issues happened, and I had to start branching out before I was ready to - which is how Patreon and Twitch came to be. The rest of September and October were spent on YouTube researching and developing “passive” income ideas.

I won’t be talking about Oct/Nov pieces as I’ve already done that in the previous few posts. In short, art zoomies picked back up in October, I managed to knock out some presents for friends and some fanart pieces, only to be absent for the majority of November again because I had/was recovering from Covid. (I’m still coughing 💀)

Over the course of the year, I did some animal drawings as presents for friends - Joe’s wonderful sassy corgi Dennis that I'm plotting to kidnap (at least for a day, if I ever make it to the UK), Joel’s cat Kissa that looks like someone spilled ink all over, Isla’s cat Skye that has seen all of the horrors of the universe, and I’m cooking something up with my own cat - Azriel.

I started working on another illustration for Sky Across featuring the same character I concepted at the beginning of the year, I'm streaming the process on Twitch when I can, and I started a little banner illustration for socials that I noodle on from time to time.

There were a few bits and bobs that I don’t feel are worth mentioning, and some Blender practice things that aren’t really worth sharing but were great practice.

All in all, this year was mostly marked by a million doctors’ exams, a big focus on exercise/physical therapy, dealing with ~feelings~ about medical issues, and general financial uncertainty. But also more art than I made in a long while, so swings and roundabouts!

I'm really proud that I've managed to handle and organise so many health-related things, and I'm getting better at judging how much I can do and schedule for myself, recognizing when I need to take time off and when I can afford to push things. I hope to do more original illustrations and concepts next year, and I’m adding traditional art to my calendar for next year as I’ve been itching to experiment more. I’m very grateful to my family and friends that held me up, I wouldn’t have been able to manage without them <3

Here are a couple of honourary mentions which didn't fit into my three TED Talks haha

First, these two photos of Jacques & Gabriella of Monaco. Not sure what's going on, I just know that it's very on-brand for the Monaco royals

Second, I was gonna say that this could serve as inspo for Newton. But that felt like a bit of an insult towards the main character of season 2. Anywho, the Thai royals have way too much money but at least Siri offers entertainment in how much she spoils her dog

Third, we have my favourite royal, His Royal Cuteness Prince Charles of Luxembourg. The hardest-working baby in the world who's about to become a big brother next year! No real reason, I just want everyone to see how adorable he is

For those wondering, His Royal Cuteness together with Prince Alexander have been cast by me as Charlie (yes I know they look very different, never said my casting was gonna be logical), Prince Gabriel as Alex (let's pretend Alex was blonde the first couple of years) & now when we have better photos of Prince Julian, I have an excuse to picture him as Will. Haven't decided on anyone for Eddie, Miles, Mary & Vivi yet, suggestions are welcome! But, I nominate Princess Adrienne as Lottie.

Jacques and Gabriella of Monaco are definitely giving cheeky Prince Gregory and Princess Hyacinth vibes, though I could also imagine Princess Charlotte and Prince William having the sassy little troublemakers look about them. In the Royals AU they were born hours apart in the same hospital with their fathers running out into the corridor of opposite rooms to high-five each other when they were welcomed into the world. It would have been the only time Sophie had presented one of her newborns to the world, knowing there would be no chance of sneaking out of the hospital with the media camped outside waiting to be introduced to the new Princess Royal. She had found the prospect of the media interest invasive and had opted not to parade Charlie and Alex around hours after giving birth to them as a result, but seeing as William was her third baby and she didn't feel as overwhelmed as she had done as a brand new mother, she reckoned she could handle showing one of her babies to the world just this once. Then when Kate hopped into the hospital bed with her as they snuggled their newborns, she asked if Sophie would like to appear on the steps of the hospital with her and show their babies off together, and realising she wouldn't have to do it alone made Sophie agree to the offer instantly. She even had a bit of fun as Kate's glam squad dressed and made her up side by side with the queen while their royal husbands doted on their infants, before they treated the public to the four of them appearing on the steps of the hospital to introduce the newest little prince and princess of the family.

I could definitely see Newton ending up as the main star of the royal family's Instagram account. He's included in photos for Kate and Anthony's engagement, their wedding, pregnancy announcements, first baby pics, and of course their official Christmas cards. When they meet members of the public Kate and Anthony are always asked about Newton and the general demand of more Newton leads the royal family Insta stories to be filled with the corgi's day to day activities and general fluffy cuteness. (There's even a joke petition to make Newton the national animal of the country or for him to at least be knighted for his adorable services to the nation.)

Prince Charles of Luxembourg is the cutest!!! I can for sure see him as baby Charlie and while Benedict is thrilled that his hair initially appears blonde like his mother, Sophie is sure his locks will darken to the chestnut that the rest of the Bridgertons possess and much to Benedict's chagrin she's right. I can also totally see (your logic of) Prince Alexander as a bigger version of Charlie, with Charlie not wanting his hair cut so he can look just like his father (I'm envisioning Benedict growing his hair out for a time after Sophie one day mused that she fancied him when he was younger with his teenage floppy hair, and being the simp that he is he wanted to make his wife's teenage dreams come true).

Theres actually a few I can see as having pets.

The Wolfpack darling has willow and windchimes of course. They would never separate her from her dog and tooka.

Crosshair has cats. He loves cats. Has like five of them and their all really well trained and immaculately groomed. But as far as dogs go, tpu couldnt pay him to have one.

Echo and his husband ethan have a cat and a dog. Their cats name is tiger, and Ethan owned him before he married Echo. Their dogs name is Natan, he used to belong to one of Echos targets but was treated horribly. Abused and starved and when he saw echo attacking his owner, Natan actually helped the clone. So echo decided to keep him. He is a large, kengal dog looking thing, good with the residents and other animals of kamino, not so good with strangers. He can often be found roaming with techs dog. Despite this, when at home, tiger is 100% the one in charge. The cat owns the dog, not the other way around.

Tech has a family pet corgi. I saw on another post how hed call it sprocket, and now I cant unsee it. 100% canon to me. Sprocket and natan are best friends, shes so sassy and hes so menacing. But they get along like a house on fire, despite their differences.

Wrecker will adopt any animal he comes across, not unlike his children. If he sees a street rat scavenging for food in a dumpster next to a feral tooka, he will take the kid, settle them in his ship then go back for the tooka. He doesnt have a preference for cars or dogs, but does like the larger animals.

They are the only clones I have definately thought of having pets, but the other clones, for the most part, wouldn't mind getting one or two cute little companions for their darlings and families.

Also, alot of the clones have animals on hobby farms. Sheep and cows and horses and the like kept in huge biodomes.

They are a form of therapy for the PTSD ridden soldiers.

Bookish high school student Rintaro Natsuki is about to close the secondhand bookstore he inherited from his beloved bookworm grandfather. Then, a talking cat named Tiger appears with an unusual request. The feline asks for - or rather, demands - the teenager’s help in saving books with him. The world is full of lonely books left unread and unloved, and Tiger and Rintaro must liberate them from their neglectful owners.

Their mission sends this odd couple on an amazing journey, where they enter different mazes to set books free. Through their travels, Tiger and Rintaro meet a man who leaves his books to perish on a bookshelf, an unwitting book torturer who cuts the pages of books into snippets to help people speed read, and a publishing drone who only wants to create bestsellers. Their adventures culminate in one final, unforgettable challenge - the last maze that awaits leads Rintaro down a realm only the bravest dare enter...

oh gosh sakusa and an american eskimo dog would look like ROYALTY, they would be turning heads everytime they go out,, everyone will stop and stare. i don't make the rules.

not a husky reminding him of atsumu and bokuto 😭 it would be a very talkative one who howls and whines a lot and ik omi would literally talk right back to the dog

SAKUSA AND CORGI! the image is so adorable🥺 i can see the dog wanting to curl up with omi to sleep and at first omi is like, strictly no dogs in the bedroom! but eventually caves for the puppy eyes💖 everytime i see a corgi i can't stop staring at it because like, all of its proportions look so wrong - big ears, long body, tiny legs, fluffy butt??? but they look so cute?!?

yes i agree, adult dogs need a lot of love too! but i so want to see omi training a puppy, teaching it tricks, potty training, and how he'd react to the adorable puppy shenanigans 😭
