5 SECOND REVIEW
* why the FUCK did i not read this sooner omg
* i finished it in 2 sittings and it was a JOY and a MARVEL to read
* i instantly got transported to my childhood, when i remember reading and loving the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm
* this was so, SO well written, I can't even, it took all of maybe 10 pages to get me completely hooked
* having the story set in East Asia and drawing both from the Wild Swans fairy tale and East Asian folklore was just... so good, so well crafted and the prose was beautiful
* i kept squealing every time i recognised elements from the story i read as a child, but at the same time, the plot twists???
* i cannot recommend this enough, truly, it was amazing
* 5/5 ⭐️

I liked how he said my name. As if the syllables were the first notes to a song he loved to sing.

One fun aspect of Beneath the Moon by Yoshi Yoshitani is that some of the fairy tales and myths overlap through different areas of the world. Many countries and cultures have similar stories.
I’m also a fan of fairy tales adapted into different cultures to showcase their own storytelling, like Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim.

Her Radiant Curse ended so sadly and I will never recover. It's a brilliant example of sibling love and fighting against all odds to protect each other.
The epilogue made me so sad :(
