do you happen to have sony vegas ? my college requires it for classes but its way too expensive for me

Ahoy! I have attempted to find Sony Vegas Pro 19, as it's seemingly the newest version, sadly i have only been able to find Sony Vegas Pro 17. This one took some time due to the nature of the patcher used, as they often contain riskware. So i've taken the time to run the entire install in a Virtual Machine to avoid harming my computer, and after a full install i can confirm that the file is virus-free and should work without any issues!

I attempted to record the screen as i was installing, so if there is any interest for it i can look into editing and posting that as a installation-guide. Though i have attempted to make the process as easy as possible. An install-guide is included in the download, but is the following steps:

Unzip the downloaded file.

Run "Setup.exe" and go through its installer.

Run "Patch.exe" and go through its installer.

Delete the "Setup.exe", "Patch.exe" and "How to Install.txt" as you won't need them anymore. Make sure to right-click on your Recycle Bin and select "Empty Recycle Bin" so the files won't bother your anti-virus programs.

Run the program and have fun!

started video editing again for the first time since i was like 12 and goddamn doing all the transitions and effects isn’t even the hard part, it’s assembling all the video clips and trying to make sense of them

This is a video I created today (10/11/2022) that, in a weird way, accompanies my piece Life. It is a video collage of my time in Seattle, Alaska, 4th of July with friends and my trip home from college (videos recorded between 2018-2020). I made it on a whim simply for the fun of it and to challenge myself with familiarizing Sony Vegas. The song in the video is "Sunday Night" by Knowmads from their album Knewschool (2016).

First Clip Studio Paint, now Sony Vegas Pro is apparently also going towards a subscription-based model. However, it seems like the people behind Sony Vegas Pro is going about it even worse by revoking licenses from older versions of the program!

I hate the "loan not own" model. Earlier you could at least save up to buy the more expensive professional tools. Now you gotta fork up monthly fees on anything you might be interested in.

A nice thing to come out of that thread however, was that i got my hands on Sony Vegas Pro 18! Earlier I've posted a link to the 17 version, so this is a newer version of the program. I'm still planning on keeping the older version too though. The original installation guide has been rewritten and all the files has been checked, so it's now available over at the drive in the pinned post! How to fix old VEGAS Pro files having ghosting / resampling / interlacing when they shouldn't

I've known of two people who have tried upgrading from VEGAS 13/14 to 19 or later, and both encountered a weird issue with the project files they'd started in the older version. It manifests looking like resampling, despite that setting being disabled on both a project level and event level.

So what's going on here, if it's not resampling?

Well, honestly, I'm not entirely sure, but when it does crop up, I have found a surefire solution to nixing it for good: simply make sure your project settings match the ones boxed in blue here:

By default, older VEGAS versions handle these settings differently. Switching them to these and using version 16 or later should resolve this issue. Make sure you're doing it in every nested project, and if you're importing prerendered videos they don't already exhibit the issue!

Your renders will be crisp and clean again.
