hi! could i request a sae-byeok x fem reader fluff / hcs where it’s christmas and they do a bunch of activities together like putting up / decorating a christmas tree, baking cookies, buying matching pjs and drinking hot cocoa while having a christmas movie marathon with face masks, dancing to christmas music together, making out under the mistletoe, shopping for presents for cheol (and each other) etc ?? i’ve been missing christmas lately and christmas with sae-byeok just sounds so comforting rn! (sorry if i sent this twice, i’m not sure if it submitted the first time)
all i want for christmas is you
Tumblr media
tw/cw - none
a/n - this is so vv late ik im horrible but uh the christmas spirit changes people so :D
Tumblr media
- sae byeok wasn’t one to go all out for christmas. growing up poor her family could barely afford a tree, let alone presents and the sparkling lights strung along rooftops and trees. she didn’t own a single pair of fuzzy sweaters that families matched with during their christmas photos. she didn’t even have a photo, not a single one from all the years she lived. call her a grinch, but christmas felt like a reminder what she and her family couldn’t have every year.
- then you came along. and god, you adored the holiday, putting up everything the moment halloween passed. sae byeok was a little annoyed about it at first, at a loss for words walking out of your shared bedroom and finding the house decked out in boxes of christmas decorations. but she couldn't feel resentful of the holiday when you smiled like that. when cheol brightened at the sight while tugging on the hem of her shirt. she found herself mirroring his expression, despite wanting to ask the hundreds of questions swirling around in her mind.
- she released a sigh. her grumpiness would have to rest for a bit.
- you and sae byeok would dedicate a whole afternoon to decorating, insisting it had to be done all in one day. the girl would follow you around like a lost puppy, holding up foreign objects and asking where they went. she felt a little useless during that time, unsure whether she was handing over the correct ornament or setting up the tree properly. but you were patient with her, gently reminding the girl of what was the correct object and showing her the easiest and quickest way to flock the tree. and even though her placement of the decorations looked horrible compared to yours, you simply told her it looked beautiful.
- shopping for christmas presents was something new to sae byeok. she had gone before for her younger brother, but the gift was usually something cheap and used. and even though they weren’t as poor as before, she still felt guilty spending so much money on material things. so christmas shopping was a whole other level of guilt.
- but she eventually grew used to it. after all, this would be their first official christmas without the looming shadow of debt. she wanted to make it as memorable as possible for her younger brother.
- you accompanied her on one of her trips, your excitement making her enjoy the shopping more so than usual. every time you found something you believed the young boy would like you’d hold it up, examining the functions and appearing like a child wanting it for themselves. as quick as your attention found the object however it would disappear, grasping another that would repeat the process. it took many hours for sae byeok to settle on just a couple things.
- shopping for you was a whole different story. she thought long and hard about what to get you, wanting it to be special. you meant a lot to the girl after all, and even though you insisted on her not getting you a present she wanted to see the same bright smile on your face as you opened her gift. sae byeok would spend hours in the shopping center, asking for several different opinions. when she finally settled on a bracelet she was excited, beginning to think that christmas couldn’t come sooner.
- while you waited for the day to come, you made sure to have the pair participate in many classic holiday traditions.
- a gingerbread decorating contest was the first on the list. you bought two sets, pairing up with cheol to decorate one while sae byeok was left to fend for herself. the afternoon was filled with laughter, hundreds of photos and a messy amount of icing. somehow, when cheol was announced the winner for the contest, sae byeok was left with a face covered in white frosting and a chunk out of her gingerbread house (curtesy of you, of course).
- ice skating is another activity you felt was better appreciated during the holiday season. the siblings joined you on the ice, arms spread out as they struggled to stay upright. you quickly handed cheol a walker so he was less likely to fall before grinning mischievously at his older sister. sae byeok could only widen her eyes when you grabbed her hand and pulled her around on the ice, laughing when she screamed from both fright and adrenaline. it didn’t take long for you both to fall on a heap on the floor, breathing heavily with your hands still clasped tightly together. eventually you find yourself laughing loudly, the girl letting out a soft sigh before allowing her own snickers to leave her lips.
- mistletoe is practically everywhere in the house. more often than not you purposely meet the girl under the plant, grinning when she finally glanced up and realized why you kept staring at her so expectantly. after having dealt with your antics several times already, sae byeok released a small sigh, the smallest hint of a smile on her lips as she leaned forward and captured your lips with her own.
- when christmas came around no other music was played except the classics. you insisted upon this fact, your excuse being that it was only acceptable to listen to certain songs during a small window of the year. sae byeok used to mind at first, eventually growing tired of the repeated songs playing in the living room. but when you took her hands and pulled her to her feet, swaying your body with her own, her irritation disappeared. instead she focused on the way your body followed hers and how your head would dip back in laughter when she would accidentally step on your foot. her eyes traced the smile on your face and the sparkle in your eyes, voice humming softly to the tune.
- when christmas eve finally came around you spent the day preparing for ‘santa’. you showed cheol how to bake cookies and stir hot chocolate, putting on a christmas movie while they heated in the oven. you allowed the siblings to open one gift, matching pjs for you all to wear while watching the movie. your hands easily found their way curled against sae byeok’s chest, warmth radiating from your bodies as her fingers found purchase in your hair. when cheol began to grow sleepy you helped the small boy put out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk, tucking him into bed and kissing his forehead. as soon as the door clicked shut you and sae byeok shared a look of understanding, rushing to the closet filled with the presents santa would be leaving for the young boy in the morning. your words are hushed throughout the night, giggling from excitement and the rush of trying to stay quiet enough as to not disturb cheol’s sleep.
- you and sae byeok share a lingering kiss under the mistletoe, before falling asleep under the blankets and twinkling lights.
- you both awake in the morning to cheol tugging on your limbs and pulling you into the living room excitedly. you match his excitement when he takes notice of the half eaten cookies and small pile of presents, eager to begin the morning festivities. you hold up a camera and record the morning filled with torn wrapping paper and bright smiles, many hugs shared followed by words of gratitude. it was the perfect christmas morning.
- exactly what you had hoped for.
- sae-byeok’s hands are cold during the winter season, abnormally so. each time your fingers found her own you hold on tighter than necessary, hoping your warmth will eventually ease itself deep into her skin. your thumbs stroke her knuckles, finger pads rubbing along every inch they can find. you believe it works when you finally (and regretfully) pull away, palms a little sweaty but her skin back to its normal temperatures. and then you smile, catching sight of her reddening cheeks and equally red nose. you lean forward, placing your hands over her cheeks and begin kissing them. softly, gently, hundreds of times with the excuse to warm them enough so she’d never feel a bite of cold ever again.

GIRLFRIENDS…!? [ k. sae-byeok ]
Tumblr media
content warnings — intoxication, explicit sexual/profane speech eluding to smut, etc..
note — HI ALL! i’m back and i’ve missed tumblr sm. i promised to put out some of my unpublished saebyeok pieces and this is the first of many. BEWARE! this is a very lusty MATURE plot sparked by one of my favorite songs that i wrote like forever ago— it is the foreplay/first part to a smut i began and never finished. there is no real smut in this piece, and if you’re into that sort of thing, it will leave you wanting for more! read at ur own risks luv! (if you like this enough, i’ll finish the second part for you (if requested!), but this is pretty cute on it’s own, imo :) i hope you enjoy!
synopsis — you’re not sober, and saebyeok, (who apparently might be your girlfriend) is on the way…
Tumblr media
Okay. You really need to stop drinking.
It isn't helping. In fact, it's making everything worse. With every bittersweet swig of Stella Rosa, you crave the taste of something much more satisfying— Much more intoxicating.
    Saebyeok's lips.
You sigh softly, your tongue sliding across the roof of your mouth with a chuckle as you shook your head at yourself, staring back at the MacBook screen thats still blank, besides your name and a due date prompted in MLA format on the left hand corner.
You’re supposed to be writing a paper for your english course, yet it's nearly 1AM and you got nothing— You're all alone in your one-bedroom apartment, level of intoxication tangoing with tipsy, head empty, only thoughts being... her.
    It's a Friday night.
You could submit yourself into the astiring streets crawling with shit-faced students from your college university, as your apartment complex was just barely off campus— All it took was a few miles walk, and you could be at some wild frat rave, getting drunk for free and partying with pretty strangers...
You don’t want to. You want one thing. One person. And her name is Saebyeok.
The thought of her dizzies your brain more than normal. Not just because of the spirit juice spiraling through your system, but because she finally made your relationship official!
Four days ago. She finally asked you to be her girlfriend!
Well, okay... Maybe ‘asked’ is a bit of a stretch.
Four days ago, she was helping you study for a mid-term via FaceTime,
(SaeByeok lives off campus as well, back at home with her mother and little brother whom she takes care of, and avoids coming to college unnecessarily as much as possible... She's not much of a people person.)
    Anyways...
Her kid brother, Cheol interrupted your study sess, asking who his sister was on the phone with. She replied saying, and you quote—
   "My girlfriend."
    Your heart nearly exploded.
You’re her girlfriend!?!?! I mean, sure, you guys have been getting closer, and your relationship has certainly surpassed the status of college acquaintances who share each other’s notes...
Sometimes, Saebyeok seems to be quite fond of your company... and spooning you, and making out with you all the time, and sleeping over at your place, and leaving her hoodies and toothbrush at your apartment… and maybe you've seen her naked once or twice, and or had sex in the backseat of her car...
    But girlfriends!?!
This is big news to you. And it leaves you feeling... Some type of way.
You like her. You like her a lot. And the fact that she spoke to Cheol, the human she loves most on this planet, about your little 'ol existence? It proves she likes you just as much.
Or so you assume. You can’t really be sure if your love-sick mind had misinterpreted the whole girlfriend-Cheol-facetime thing— Yet, the rousing scent of Saebyeok’s oversized tapestry hoodie you’re wearing and the enthralling influence tainting your sense of wit just won’t leave it to chance.
Fuck the english paper. You need pure pellucidity straight from the horse’s mouth, and you’re determined to get it — That, and maybe a little something else too…
With fidgety fingers, you tend to your cellphone’s call list, fishing for that freckle-faced contact photo in an unbidden blur.
You’ve never called her this late before, and the last thing you want to do is scare her off after she (possibly) just made things official, but your morals are missing at the moment.
She picks up the phone on the first ring, which isn’t unusual, but it still makes your heart beat berserk each time.
"Yeah?" The sultry sound of her voice is buried under swift breeze, honking cars, and diluted laughs commencing in the background.
Where ever she is, it’s crowded. It sounds like she’s passing near a pile of traffic on a sleepless city street.
You furrow your brows, almost taken aback by the fact that she’s out and about this late.
"Where are you right now?" You ask while fighting back a grin, a snarky twinge interlacing your vocals.
Saebyeok is a homebody, and you're positive that you have to be one of the couple people she enjoys enough to spend her free time with on a Friday night.
You were curious as to what the hell she could be doing right now besides touching you...
"Out." She submits simply. "Is everything okay? Why are you calling me now?"
     Always so plain...
You twirl the drawstring to her hoodie giddishly, hanging on to her every word.
"Well what are you doing? It's pretty late." You pry a little, shamelessly too.
You are her girlfriend after all... Right!?
    "Making money. Are you okay?"
Always so curt... Always so sketchy... Always showing concern for your well being... Why is this turning you on even more?
"Sounds realllll sketchy, Ms.Kang." You tease in a slight slur, following a few giggles. "Where do you work again?"
You're well aware that whatever she does to get enough cash to support her family was probably boarding the line of illegal, and she knows that you know, but she refuses to ever involve you in her less than lawful activities.
As long as she assures you she's safe and not an any sort of danger, there's no harm in poking a little fun…
She scoffs lightly, catching onto your antics. "What's this about, (Name)? Do you need something?"
"I need you here with me." You exhale dramatically with a protruding pout. "I've had a few drinks and... I really wanna see you."
Saebyeok is silent for a few seconds.
She knows you, and judging from your overly-sensuous tone and the time of night, she's beginning to gather what this call is really about.
She gulps thickly, "You want me to come over? ... Right now?" Before she excites herself, she needs you to confirm.
"Yes, please. If you can." You aren't afraid to beg, nor of seeming desperate. "I've been without you all week... You're all I can think about right now."
Another taut silence. You swear you can almost feel her hitched breath nestling against the nape of your neck threw the phone.
    "I'm on my way."
As white noise swallows the line, you scarf down the remaining wine in your glass, jolting from the couch to your feet, excitement surging your skeleton in its entirety.
Your head spins as you briefly reminisce on the last time you had her in your presence— Her dark eyes being so attentive to you, adoring your every move. Her lips on yours, tongue so modestly asking for entrance to your mouth and her hand trailing up your thigh with reluctance, patiently awaiting your shy shows of consent…
You pace around your apartment, too antsy to sit still. Already freshly showered and shaved, you tidy up a bit, lighting a vanilla bean candle — An airy savor, not too potent. You don't want the aroma to conflict with your perfume oil.
When you hear your phone ding with a new notification less than 20 minutes later, you don't even check it — You run straight to your door, knowing it’s SaeByeok making you aware she's outside.
Swinging back the knob eagerly, your lips softly part at the sight of her. She's sporting a cream-colored kawaii crewneck and simple sweats, palms shoved in her pockets as she stares at her shoes.
Gosh, the things this girl did to you.
You pretend your heart doesn't stop when her glance dwindles to meet with yours, always managing to forget how tall she is.
The star-like speckles dappled on the apples of her cheekbones sprout skyward as her smile widens — She sizes you up, her eyes slowly trail from your fluffy house slippers to your bare legs, skin only covered from your mid-thigh and above… Then she realizes you're wearing her most homely hoodie.
She licks her lips nervously, lustful eyes nearly looking threw you, speaking of the impure words she can’t form, for her breath is beyond her.
You feel a blowsy tint blooming on your cheeks.
"Like what you see?" Mists of lightweight liquor loosens your lips and emboldens your audacious body language.
Blinking from her daze, Sae chuckles in the cutest coy manner.
"It's huge on you." Her verbal taunting is kittenish, though the tacit teases tattooed on the back of her skull are not.
You huff a wispy laugh. "Whatever, Giant." Rolling your eyes, you shuffle off to the side. "Come in."
And so, she does, but she doesn't get far.
Slipping past the door seal, Saebyeok is jolted forward — You softly snatch the fabric of her sweater, cornering her back against the front door. It slams shut as you envelope her neck in your arms, embracing her into a kiss.
You sigh instantly at the tiny contentment. Kissing Saebyeok is like a saccharine dream — Her warm lips kindle a burning desire that seems otherworldly, a pillowy bliss of passion.
Sensual, defining the tender undertones of your adoration, but sloppy, personifying the aching hunger between you both.
Her fingers whirl along your waist, yearning for closeness, yet only wandering shyly around your midriff— Too meek to trickle lower, leaving you to pine for more.
Before her tantalizing touch can linger too long, she simply pulls away, breathless and bashful.
Her brows knit, "You taste drunk." Saebyeok breathes out. "How much have you had, exactly?"
The implication unnerves you. Arms flying to your sides, you straighten how your (really hers) hoodie a bit, as a wave of embarrassment seems to spite you.
Oh, no. Are you coming on too strong? Are you making her uncomfortable? Is she not as into this as you?
You let out a timid giggle, untangling yourself from her personal bubble.
You need to chill. Don't give her the impression that she's only here because you're horny. At least figure out if she’s even actually your girlfriend before you try to seduce her, geez!
"Uh, a.. few glasses?" You confess, awkwardly leisuring over to your living room.
Saebyeok notices your abrupt shift in nature, and it disappoints her a little, but she says nothing, merely following after your lead.
"It's only wine, though." You assure her. "I was trying to loosen myself up enough to write my english paper."
Hips swaying as you strut, you can feel her eyes attached to you— Devouring you, admiring the way her clothing encompasses your curves.
"Yeah?" Her voice is like stifling satin, which makes you shiver. "Get anything done?"
You turn on your heels to face her, aligning your gazes. "Ummm, I found a pretty font and layout to type my name in! The words are gonna be really cute when I finally write them." You smile innocently, interlocking your arms around her torso.
She glares you down, subtly nibbling on the inside of her cheek, in her best attempts to scold your darn adorable face.
"(Name), there's nothing aesthetic about procrastination."
You giggle, pressing a chastise peck to her lips, "I'll get it done! I promise, it's not even due for another week anyways."
"That doesn't mean you have more time to pretend it doesn't exist."
That's exactly what it means in your mind. You know it, and she knows it.
She can't stand when you procrastinate like this, ultimately being cause of an inevitable anxiety attack and mental breakdown when due dates roll around.
It stresses Saebyeok out just as much as it does you, so she's strict on you about turning in assignments on time — You aren't complaining. You find her stern traits to be quite endearing.
Endearing, and in this special case, conveniently opportunistic.
"Look at youuu, all worried about your girlfriend's studies." You coo in jest, floating an odd amount of extra emphasis on the spoony slogan.
In the beats of silence that follow, you stare deeply into her eyes, smile unwavering, awaiting her retort. Patient for the moment she begins to fluster and blush about how she'd made your relationship official— for Saebyeok to bring up some sort of formal conversation about the thing that's got a tsunami in between your thighs.
Instead, she blinks at you— Stammering her response and searching for the correct answer within your cherishing glimpse.
It was weird... Like you were expecting her to have a certain reaction to your words that just sound like... plain 'ol words to her.
She lets it fly. You're a weirdo. A drunk one too. Nothing new.
"Let me see the rubric.” Sae insists softly. “Maybe I can help." She bends down slightly as her faint callouses begin to reach just beside you for the scattered loose leafs across your coffee table.
Though you clasp her wrist before she can proceed any further.
“Not a chance!” Damning her in the most delicate way possible, your touch drifts off to graze her palm. “I didn’t invite you here so you could do my homework. I wanted you here so we could… Spend time together.”
The use of a neutral tone is good enough to shadow the shake in your liquid courage, because SaeByeok is still convinced that it is the liquid courage meddling with your coherence.
So, her heartening hands come to engulf yours— The affectionate gesture sweet enough to make you swoon.
“It still counts as us spending time together, as long as we’re together…” Her thumbs gently caress your knuckles as she shrugs. “I don’t mind.”
One of the innumerable reasons you endlessly adored Kang SaeByeok was because she was the rare type of person who truly didn’t mind.
“Well too bad,” You declare to her, “Because I do.”
She regards your doting orbs as you sweep the short raven strands swinging in her sights behind the lobe of her ear, waiting for you to continue.
“I don’t know, I’ve just been hoping for a while now that we can… Start spending more quality time together…”
While the intent behind your coquettish request is wholesome, Saebyeok looks disappointed — Her features contort slightly with confusion, and if you didn’t know her so well, you might say she was pouting.
“Anytime I’m with you is quality time to me.” Her dainty disclosure whistles up in the wind and implores for your confirmation.
“No!” Your frantic console is spat in a hurry, before your little scheme can skew south.
“I mean yes it is, I feel the same way— It’s just… You’ve been busier lately and we don’t have as much face time together like usual…” In the persuading sputter of stutters, you somehow work your way back to the original point.
“Wouldn’t you prefer to do something more intimate with… Your girlfriend… rather than writing her thesis?”
    Your apartment falls noiseless.
Saebyeok squints as she silently seeks for the reason why you’re suddenly a third person in this conversation.
Maybe she forgot that you’re kind of an angsty weirdo — You sometimes have this excessive tendency to complicate things into oblivion.
The way you’re wired reminds her of an overstrung piano— a morass orchestra of sublime symphonies amalgamating into one swell song.
And thus, Saebyeok’s accepted that when you try to sing the lyrics, she may have to listen closely in between the overlapping labyrinths.
Her wary ears are open, but her innate need to be rational keeps her mouth closed.
“We can do whatever you want.” Is all she obliges to you, her features nearly impassive. “This is your place. What do you have in mind?”
Damnit. Saebyeok is harder to read than text subtitles across a theater screen.
Nevertheless, you sat aside your unsettled stomach and scrunch your shoulders like you’re careless.
“I guess I should at least be a decent host and offer you some food.” With her hand coalesced in your grasp, you lug over to your cushy kitchen area.
“Are you hungry? I have leftover pizza in the fridge, or I could make you something really quick.”
… Not exactly the hunger Sae was hoping to satisfy when she came over, but she supposes this’ll do too.
“Whatever is easiest is fine.” She replies, her body sticking close to yours with her every movement, as she knows the subtle steam of her skin will stir tension.
A simpering smile adorns your face while you dawdle to your fridge door.
“Pizza it is!” You move quickly, scurrying over to the cozy corner where your air-fryer lives while pulling the plastic wrap from the plate of pie, “After I heat this up, do you maybe wanna watch something by Ghibli!?”
The dopey grin on Sae’s lips offsets how she rolls her eyes and her heads shakes at the suggestion (that’s she pretty sure is becoming an obsession) of yours.
“Sure...” She agrees, chewing her bottom lip as her feet maunder in your direction. “Guess what?”
When the mini-fryer begins to aerate, you turn to face her hovering above you, pressing your back to lean against the cold marble countertop.
“What?” Ignoring the sweltering ache simmering between you, you ponder curiously with the flutter of your lashes.
There are the tiniest shards of luster lathing in Sae’s eyes— A supple smirk springing on the rim of her lips, and you instantly know the name she’ll say next.
“Cheol got invited to another kid’s birthday party this weekend.” The animation cresting through the undertones of her dour vocals could make you croon.
“Oh my gosh, really!? That’s so good!” Without noticing, your voice is lifted a few octaves, your hands are flapping together like a penguin’s, and you’re nearly jumping up and down.
Saebyeok is almost annoyed that she can feel the stupidly huge beam painting her features pink, and still can’t do anything to stop it— You’re just too precious.
She’s only strong enough to snicker at your reaction as she watches you in revere.
Once your feet plant again, you urge for all the juicy details.
“I take it he’s starting to fit in better at school?”
Sae nods. “He seems to be, yeah.”
For a second, her glimpse loses yours— She ducks her head a little, fingers running to fiddle with the hem of your (really hers) hoodie’s pouch before she proceeds…
“Anyways, I wanted to ask you.. If you felt like chaperoning at the party with me.” Her volume is shallow of any base and her eyes are anywhere but on yours. “I know it sounds kind of lame, but it’s supposed to be some laser tag thing with like, bouncy houses. You don’t have to play or anything—“
“Are you kidding!?” You can’t help to interrupt, voice dripping of wry humor and Saebyeok’s sights suddenly jolt up at you.
“I get to beat a buncha kids at laser tag and possibly meet the incredible, infamous Kang Cheol? Count me in.” You snort with a sardonic scoff.
Her face falters— Brows boosting to the baseline of her forehead, bewildered and all bushy-tailed.
“Really? You’d actually go with me?”
“Of course.” Starkly, you say, allowing your palm to skim tepid along her collarbone…
In moments like these, you sometimes wish you were more like Saebyeok.
You wish you were the type of person who knows how to chill— The type who didn’t nag, poke, or probe … Someone who didn’t throw a tizzy over silly things like labels and titles, who knew how to let things be…
But you weren’t. And you don’t.
So, if you just so happened to sense a perfectly good opening…
    “I mean… That’s what… Girlfriends are for, right?”
Luckily for you, the third time Saebyeok has to cringe through you awkwardly highlighting the word girlfriend out loud, is a charm.
“Okay, why do you keep repeating that?”
She’s blunt — Boring an unblinking gaze upon you as she scoffs beneath her breath, as if she found your behavior confusingly hilarious.
Your eyes go doe, and you put on a phony frown to avoid being so vilely prompted on the spot.
“Uh— I don’t know what you mean.” You puff a timorous chortle. “I’m not repeating anything—“
Your lying has never been very good, but Saebyeok is especially over your little larks tonight.
“Girlfriend.” She badgers you stubbornly with no remorse. “You keep saying the word girlfriend over and over on purpose. Why?”
You analyze her stony response with a churning stomach.
“Why are you being so hostile?” A swig of somber seeps into your defensive delivery. “Does that word make you uncomfortable by chance?”
“It might start to if you keep emphasizing it in every sentence.” She deadpans. “What is it?”
The air is dull of noise as your jaw clenches.
This is much more embarrassing to admit aloud than you could’ve imagined, but you can only dodge Saebyeok glaring daggers at you for so long — Before your cast crumbles…
“You called me your girlfriend last week.” You spit it out so fast, it nearly blends together like a single syllable.
Assuming you have more to spill, she quirks a brow at your seemingly insignificant statement.
   “Okay… And?”
“Anddd…” You attempt to shrug off your inhibitions, as all the correct words twist on the tip of your tastebuds, yet never come out straight.
“I-I’m- kind of— I’m just wondering if you, possibly, actually really meant it.”
Your eyes divert downward like lightning, though there really isn’t anywhere else to look— Saebyeok practically has you pinned against the air-fryer on the countertop behind you, and her body not much farther from melting into yours feels like thunder.
“You’ve never really referred to me as that before and, I guess I’m just trying to figure out what you see this— Us, as.”
Clearing your throat, you hope to expel the butterflies from your gullet.
Your apartment is peep-less again and you’re this isn’t the greatest sign.
At this point, you think your toes are sweating, your heart is beating so bad that it hurts, and you’re staring at the floor so hard that the tiles are beginning to wiggle.
And when you finally gather the gall to look at her again, Saebyeok is on the verge of bursting into a fit of laughter.
“Seriously?” She goads with giggles, her voice full of cynical glee. “(Name), I have a toothbrush here.”
Well, when you put it so curtly…
“Yeah— Well, It’s easy to misplace toothbrushes on accident.”
    You’re sure that’s a thing… Somewhere in the world…
“We’ve been intimate…” Saebyeok reminds you. “Like multiple times.”
Obvious is starting to sound like an absurd understatement— Even though you feel like your face is caked with clown makeup, you contradict her quickly—
“Okay, the first time we had sex was in your car…”
She sports a conceited sneer, her features glossed with gloat.
“Only because someone was too eager to wait…”
You are wordless, as your eye-sockets see the back of your brains for the third time she’s brought this up.
“Besides, I’m bringing you to meet my brother this weekend.”
“So what!?” You exclaim, solely for the petty purpose of putting up a fight. “If you really think about it, the sacredness of meeting family is very subjective—“
Saebyeok settles your debate with the covetous crash of her lips onto yours— A pale groan escapes you without your permission, your reciprocation impatient and hungry, as you pleach your palm into her hair.
She grunts lightly as you tug along her scalp, hands pulling your bodies even closer, nearly pressing your center against her hips.
Goosebumps inflame like prints all over your skin, a seething fever stewing your senses as your tongues entangle, the grip entwined in her fluffy tresses only getting tighter…
Saebyeok stops — Pulling back ever so slightly that her dense breath fans the hot flush coating your cheeks.
“We’re girlfriends.” She tells you. “I see you as my girlfriend, (Name).”
“Oh. Okay.” Exhaling heavily, you simply nod, trying to steady more than one throbbing pulse. “I see you as my girlfriend too, Saebyeok.”
“Good.” She sighs out with swollen lips.
    “Great.”
Your air-fryer beeps, right on cue to slice the tension with a knife.
“Well, now that that’s settled…” You swallow breathlessly. “Do you still want your pizza?”
“Depends.” She gawks at you with no indignity, slightly leaning in, as her hands soothe the cinch of your waist.
“Is that really what you called me over here to eat?”

You Told Me
pairing: saebyeok x fem!reader
summary: after she promised to not leave you with no explanation again, she comes home to see the result of breaking that promise
warning: angst
Tumblr media
The first time it happened, you had no idea what to do with yourself. It was not normal for your girlfriend to leave you without any explanation. She would always tell you where she was going, even if it was to just get your mail. You thought about calling the police and report her as a missing person, but if you did that then that would open the possibility that she might not come back.
When she came back you were outraged that she told you nothing, she did say some excuse and you pretended that you believed her. The thought of being angry at her was out of the question though when she walked through the front door. You could not help but say something to her, to not do that again, to just talk to you, that there is a better solution to this.
When you woke up the next morning she had left you once again, this time with a note that read:
Sorry. I love you.
Sorry!?
That made the rage even stronger than the first time. Whatever this was truly about; money, her brother, her past, had meant more to her than your relationship. That was okay with you, but you thought you deserved better than a note with four words. Four words that probably held no meaning in them as she wrote it.
As much as you loved her and cherished her in your heart, you also did not want to spend a lot of your time being revolved around her. You still had a life, you had a career and bills to pay, and you did all of that as you should be. You also felt a little helpless knowing nothing with where she went or what the hell she was doing. When you were a wreck you made sure to keep it behind closed doors, and away from Cheol.
You would visit the boy nearly every day, and he was just as worried as you were, even a little bit more if that was possible. You would bring snacks over whenever you visited and you two ate them, sometimes in silence and other times you would speak about your day, the nature around you. Anything to keep your mind off the worst scenario of the woman you loved.
Dinner was cooking in the kitchen, you had put on a sitcom show to keep your spirits high and the night sky peaked through your curtains. The squeaks from the front door made you turn around and you nearly dropped the spoon you held for stirring.
Your girlfriend looked as though she was a walking corpse, a walking corpse who had a credit card in her hand. You stilled on the spot, not wanting to make the wrong move. Saebyeok took off her jacket and placed the card on the kitchen counter. She took a step towards you, but stopped when she saw that you took a step away from her.
"I'm sorry," she said, her eyes glossy, "I lied to you, I left you, and you deserve an explanation. You deserve more than what happened. I don't know where to even start, but all I ask is time to get my story straight. It was so fucked up."
You took a moment to not break down in front of her, "I don't care about whatever you're going to say to me. I am not looking for an explanation of where you were. I have one question for you and you better be absolutely fucking honest with me."
"Yeah?"
"Can I trust you, like at all?"
"I want you to."
"That was not the question. After what you have done, should I trust that you'll not run off again. Should I trust that you won't leave me alone to pick up the pieces for your brother?" you asked with a few tears down your cheek.
Saebyeok approached you immediately and held your face, her thumbs brushed away the tears, "No, no you should not. At the end of the day I am a thief, and a liar, and greedy. I should not be with you in the first place because I am everything that you are not. You have a good heart."
Your breath was shaky at how close you both were, finding it hard to keep your composure, "I fell in love with a woman who loves her family, who is brave and will do anything for who she loves. But if you are going to leave me worried for you, thinking that you might be dead, then I cannot see myself with you."
"The greed in me wants to keep you to myself, I need you in my life, my love. I can be better for you, please let me be better for you," Saebyeok whispered, "One more chance?"
"One more chance," you agreed before kissing her lips.

Tumblr media
you used to believe that perhaps the girl you met that fateful winter day was simply a fragment of your imagination.
it was easier than the reality of what was true. that weeks spent on hopeless pining, longing stares and beating hearts resulted in the letter you kept crumbled down from wear inside your pocket. that the feelings that had blossomed and nurtured now lay wilted, decayed and forgotten like an abandoned garden. that sae byeok would never come back, no matter how many shooting stars heard your desperate cries each night.
a year had been enough to have you accept the thoughts, the colors of the leaves the only indicator of the time passed. because everything still felt the same. you still went to that small art shop tucked snuggly between the two buildings, leaning against the aisles and drawing aimless scribbles into the parchment of your notebook. you could feel everything too. could still feel the warmth of sae byeok’s body beside yours, knees bumping and shoes pressed together. could still hear the quiet tone of her voice, soft and hushed and everything nice. you still saw her sometimes, too, waiting for you like she always did despite her insisting otherwise. and yet deep down you knew things had changed, much more than you realized. much more than you let yourself believe.
you sighed quietly into the strong aroma of paints and chalk, blinking away the figments of your imagination beginning to surface once more. it happened too frequently for your liking, and each time it left your heart throbbing painfully inside your chest until it stopped, and you were left feeling nothing at all.
‘come on. it’s been a whole year. you need to get over it.’ you thought angrily to yourself, grabbing the nearest set of paints and putting it into your basket. your visit at the time was for supplies instead of a place to draw, a big project coming up where your teacher asked for only acrylic paints to be used. you weren’t very familiar with the techniques related to the paint, but at least it allowed you an excuse to stay busy and not think about the freckles splayed across skin.
“uh, excuse me.”
you glanced over at the voice, surprised about the appearance that greeted you. it wasn’t necessarily because of the bright red hair that felt out of place, but rather the age of the man and the suit he was wearing. definitely did not look like someone who would come to an art shop, at least not for himself.
“yes?” you asked, a little cautiously.
he smiled, kind enough to have your tense stance falter ever so slightly, “do you come to this place often?”
you sighed a little in relief, realizing that he probably just wanted to know about what supplies to get. you ignored how it reminded you of a different encounter many months ago, “i do. usually come here everyday.”
he nodded, hesitating for a moment before speaking, “if you don’t mind me asking, can i see some of your work?”
“oh, sure! here, give me a second.” you pulled out the notebook from your bag, opening it to the first page littered with motion drawings and random sketches. he flipped through the pages, intrigued, until stopping on one that had his entire body going completely still.
“this one is…” he trailed off, glancing between you and the graphite smeared onto the page. your own eyes landed on the drawing, body growing cold at the familiar sight.
quickly you grabbed the notebook from his hands, holding it protectively to your chest, “sorry, these ones are private,” you hastily stuffed it into your bag, eyes downcast to hide the tears threatening to break through, “if you’re looking for advice you can always ask the workers. i have to go.”
“wait!” the sudden rise in tone and the alarm in his voice caused you to pause, seeing the conflicted look across his face. he swallowed, eyes switching between you and your bag before remaining on your face, “do you know a girl named sae byeok?”
his tone was much softer that time, but you still felt frozen in your spot, rolling the familiar syllables within your mind. your lips parted, so many thoughts running through your head but none finding a place on your tongue. you swallowed, asking the easiest question you could muster, “what did you say?”
“sae byeok,” he repeated, seemingly desperate by the way he looked at you, “did you know her?”
“did i know her?” you almost laughed at yourself. at the whole predicament. a whole year, and despite you thinking that it was enough to forget about the girl you met, all the images centered around her felt clearer. you remembered the butterflies gracing ribcages, the sunsets on your cheeks, and the stars across her face. a bitter smile found its place on your lips, heart aching quietly inside your chest, “i loved her.”
the man, or rather gi-hun, took you to a nearby coffee shop. he said it’d be better to talk there than inside the store, to which you only partly agreed. despite it being a much appropriate setting, the coffee shop he brought you to was the same one you took sae byeok to as well. you didn’t sit in the same seats, thankfully, but each time you glanced over and spotted the table you recalled the wonder in her eyes at showing her the sketch made up of her features.
“how do you…” you paused, taking a quick sip of your tea to help soothe your throat and ease your anxiety, “how did you know her?”
gi-hun remained quiet for several moments, as if he were trying to find a suitable place to start. finally, after a silence far too long for your liking, he muttered quietly but loud enough for you to hear, “did she tell you about the games?“
“yes.” how could you forget? you read the letter left to you so many times you practically had the words memorized.
“i was there. we played together,” his tone lowered ever so slightly, his attention drawing to the untouched cup of his coffee, “we were teammates.”
seeing gi-huns crumpled state had your heart pounding, afraid of what the expression meant. but you needed to know. you had to be sure, “is she…” you trailed off, not wanting to utter the words you tried to deny for so long. it would be too real if you said it aloud. written permanently into the universe you could not change.
he lowered his head ever so slightly, and gi-hun didn’t even need to utter his next words for you to know, “i’m sorry.”
“how did-“ you choked on your words, scrambling to pick up the world that just shattered by your feet, “how did she die?”
“there was a game…the glass exploded at the end. she…she was unlucky enough to have been the closest one.” gi-hun also struggled with his words, his eyes never quite reaching your own.
you pressed a hand your lips, fingers trembling against the appendages as you pushed down the tears and tried to ignore the tightening in your throat. you tried not to imagine it. the blood flowing out of her body. the desperate tone of her voice and the struggling of her eyes to remain open. had she been in pain? was she scared? did she pass with regrets? “sae…”
“she told me about you. before she died,” you glanced up at the words, awaiting what was to follow. this time gi-hun did meet your eyes, red rimmed but gentle, “she loved you very much. and i uh, i promised her something.”
gi-hun reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a slip of paper. when you held it between your thumb and pointer fingers you read the letters to be an address, confused by the unfamiliarity.
“what is this?“ you asked, sparing a quick glance up.
“its the place cheol is staying at. she told you about her brother right?” at your nod gi-hun continued, “i promised sae byeok that i would take care of her family. that included you. there’s….there’s enough money to let you live a comfortable life.”
you stared at the piece of paper, feeling emotions you couldn’t quite place. but you knew one thing, and it was that you didn’t want money. you didn’t want a life of luxury or comfort. you just wanted sae byeok. just one more moment with her. one more smile. one more laugh. one more hug in the pouring rain where the roar of the falling droplets allowed only you two to hear the thoughts kept in your hearts. no amount of money could buy that.
“again, i’m really sorry. if i could i…i would’ve taken her place. it should be her here right now, not me,” gi-hun was staring down at his hands, tears building up in the corners of his eyes. the guilt he felt must’ve been heavy, the thought urging you to reach over and place a reassuring hand over his own.
“thank you for watching over her.” you whispered. you didn’t know much about gi-hun. but the fact that he was there, comforting you and giving closure for both you and the girl now among the stars told you enough.
he nodded, appearing relieved, “if-if you ever need anything you can call me. it took me a year to get my shit together but i intend to keep my promise. anything at all, don’t be afraid to ask.”
“thank you mister.” you smiled, grateful for his offer. gi-hun tensed at the words, as if they were familiar and brought back a memory he had forgotten. but just as quickly he was smiling, nodding while standing up from his seat.
“take care.”
it took you a couple days to gain enough courage to visit the address gi-hun gave you. it wasn’t really that you were scared, or doubted his intentions, but rather you were nervous. you had heard so much about cheol from sae byeok. she always spoke of him so fondly, and despite not having met him before her words alone were enough for him to find his own place in your heart. but, what if he didn’t like you? what if you couldn’t take care of him? you were just a college student after all, but it was sae byeok’s brother and you were willing to try for the sake of protecting one of the only things she loved. but what if that wasn’t enough?
you breathed out a shaky breath, the cloud steadily disappearing into the air. slowly you brought your hand up and formed a fist, knocking three times on the door before you. when you heard the rustle of movement from beyond you took a step back, rocking on your heels while waiting.
an older woman greeted you, to which you realized was the friend’s mom gi-hun told you briefly about. she smiled at you, warm like hot cocoa, and you returned it with one of your own, “uhm. sorry to intrude…is there a boy named cheol here?“
her smile widened, perhaps having been expecting you, and she turned towards the stairs inside the house and yelled out a loud ‘cheol!’ into the distance. it echoed, bouncing off the walls and blending with the sound of feet rushing down the steps. a boy, small and no older than ten, appeared behind the older woman, peering at you curiously. it was almost laughable how similar he looked like sae byeok. the only think lacking was the splash of freckles on his cheeks and nose.
“hi…i’m (name).” you waved your hand, relieved when he returned it and stepped out to now stand in the doorway.
“are you the person my sister always talked about?“ he tilt his head towards the side, the action and big brown eyes causing your heart to tighten.
“yup,” you laughed, trying to keep the mood light, “that’s me.”
he rushed forward, small hands bunching the fabric of your shirt. you only remained still for a brief moment before putting your own hands around his small frame, fingers running through the strands on his head. he mumbled something, muffled by your thick jacket, and you had to maneuver his face away from the fabric to hear him properly, “thank you for making my sister happy.“
you were taken aback, not expecting the words of gratitude. you felt something roll down your cheek, and hastily you crouched down low, holding the small boy closer to your body, “thank you for having such an incredible sister.”
the sobs pouring out of your mouth never seemed to stop. you wanted to be strong, for the sake of the precious boy before you. yet you found yourself unable to stop the tears, heart and body aching all over again, just like that day you received the letter. and cheol, sweet cheol, patted your back gently whilst releasing his own small sniffles.
“my sister isn’t coming back…is she?” he whispered quietly, the broken tone of his voice causing you to pull back and hastily wipe away the tears on his cheeks.
“we can wait together, hm?” you smiled, keeping your voice steady while stroking the apple of his cheeks, “that means we have to take care of each other.”
cheol let loose another small sniffle, before nodding his head and burying his face within your jacket once more, “okay.”
you don’t know how long you sat there holding onto the boy, whispering quiet reassurances while fixing the mess of strands that was his hair. cheol probably saw through your little white lie, but you wanted to try. to try keeping his bright spirit as warm as the sun. to make sure he knew that his sister loved her, and didn’t leave because of the lack of it. that sae byeok would’ve wanted you both to be happy, even if she weren’t there to witness it all.
maybe hung stars and shooting comets weren’t enough, but this, holding cheol and having gotten to love her, was.

My friend and I really liked Kang Sae Byeok/ Player 067. Her friendship with Ji Yeong definitely melted my stone-cold heart. In the afterlife, I hope they can bond more and enjoy a happy vacation on Jeju Island.
This is my first digital portrait. I don't think it looks exactly like her. I hope to improve over time.
